Dratzi, Thank you for having me on tonight. I'm spending
the week in Italy for our chamber trip that we
did this year, So that's been fun.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Yeah, Well, give me a quick rundown. What have you
guys done. It sounds like you had a good time.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah. We started in Rome and we've made our way
up north through Florence and Venice and a few other
stops we went through the countryside. We ended up in
Como today and Milan tomorrow and then we're flying back
of this week. So it's been a blast.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Glad you guys had a great time back here state inside.
We are getting into the holiday season. Lots to do
and Wapa Ganetta. But first of all, you guys, we've
got some business to take care of coming up on
November twentieth. That is coming up next week, your annual
meeting and awards.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Right, Yes, we love celebrating our Community Awards dinner and
our annual meeting that will be November twentieth. We love
to celebrate the end of each year by honoring those
who have made a big impact in our community during
the year. We gather for the Community Awards thankly each
year to catch up with fellow Chamber members, enjoy a
(01:28):
delicious meal and to honor them as well. But then
we like to jump right into the holidays. You know,
wat Canna is such a magical place, full of charm,
small town tradition, incredible light displays, holiday shopping, music, all
kinds of stuff, fun for all ages.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
No doubt we're going to get into it now as
we talk with Lindsay Young from the Wall Park Chamber.
The Christmas open House gets underway next week as well
on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Take me through this, Yeah, so this is an I
think expanded this year a little bit to a few
more extra days. So this is the nineteenth through the
twenty second. Out at Farmhouse to Core and Co and
Wapacinetta out out in the country you can find all
new holiday decre gifts, clothing, candles, all kinds of festive
(02:15):
touches to make your home merry and bright.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Wow. Sounds like something a lot of folks will want
to check out. And it's four days, so that gives
you an ample opportunity to do that. Meanwhile, it will
soon be the time for holiday lights, and for Wapawk
and Auglace County, the Fairground serves as a site for
some holiday lights. How are they doing it this year?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yes, The Gift of Light starts on November twenty six
out at the Fairgrounds. It's a spectacular drive through experience
with music sync to the un lights. It starts at
six pm and that will run through December thirty. First.
All of their timing and tickets and everything. All that
information will be available on their Facebook page and website.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
But that's not all I should mention. The Armstrong Air
and Space Museum is doing holiday lights too, aren't they.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Absolutely. November twenty eighth will be their Grand Illumination, which
they do every year. That's at seven pm, and that's
a free outdoor space being walkthrough experience and they will
continue those every night at dusk through the beginning of January,
so those are free for all to enjoy.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
We're seeing what's happening in whap Gannadda with Lindsay Young
from the Chamber. Shop Small Saturday is coming up. That'll
be two weeks from this coming Saturday, November twenty ninth,
and lots of opportunity here in wap Canetta.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yes, oh my gosh, we are flying through the month.
Right after Thanksgiving, we have our Shop Small Saturday, November
twenty ninth. We are so fortunate to have a strong
support for our local small businesses and Shop Small Saturday
is an extra opportunity to show that Thanksgiving weekend is
always big for our local retailers. So come on out
do some Christmas shopping and hang out with us.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Yeah. Absolutely, Shop Small Saturday, November twenty ninth. And then
let's flip the calendar over into December because the nineteenth
annual Children's Hometown Holiday is coming up. Give us the details.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yes, we're so excited. An entire weekend full of holiday
cheers for the little ones and the young at heart
from a Christmas parade, ice skating rink, snowball drop, fireworks
of course, business with Santa Claus and most all of
our local businesses take part to provide a weekend full
of fun holiday activities and events and the chamber actually
(04:34):
hosts the Lego contest creations. So starting now, bring your
lego creations large or small. We'll display those in our
front window and then you can pick them up anytime
after December tenth. And then you will also get a
lego prize when you pick up your creations. So definitely
bring us all your lego creations.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
So you want them to bring them right to your
chamber office, right.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yep, bring them right right to the office. We will
get them put in our window with your name and
age on them.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah. One time I went to the Louisville Slugger Museum
in Louisville. They had lego Joey Vado portrait. I don't
know if you'll have that.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Oh, that's fun. We get some pretty intense creation. Some
of these kids really love their legos.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
I'm telling you, they're pretty good with them. That's going
to be fun.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yes, it is fun to see.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Children's Hometown Holiday in Wapa Canetta. Then on December seventh,
right at the end of that event, you've got the
tour of homes. The Women's Civic League puts this on.
Take us through what's going on.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yes, this is a popular annual showcase of truly special
homes in Wapa Caneta, all to support Caring for Kids,
which is the organization's long standing network of support for
local children and families. This is so fun to see
how people decorate their homes throughout the community. Indiate tickets
at Kosta Chic and possibly through their Facebook, So check
(06:01):
out there's facebook for some more info.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
On that awesome and we continue to talk about December
happenings now and Wapa Canuta with Lindsay Young from the
Chamber Friday, December twelfth, Saturday, December thirteenth. I don't know
if this is new or I just don't recall it.
The Maybury Market, the mini market at the Auglas County Fairgrounds.
What is this all about?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yes, so I'm not sure how many years they've been
doing this, but this is forty plus vendors and twelve
thousand square feet of the Augway County Fairgrounds and you'll
find vintage fines, furniture, home decor, boutique fashion and more.
There's also food trucks, cocktail bar, live music, photo ops,
a miniature horse of course, Santa Claus. This is a
(06:46):
great opportunity to finish up your holiday shopping right before Christmas,
so definitely check that out.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And all kinds of things happening with the Wapa Canetta
here for the holiday season, and we don't want to
forget there's a kind of a photo op deal that
we have in downtown Wapa Canetta right with the there's
an astronaut sculpture there.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yes, we have an astrot helmet sculpture in and for
the holidays. On a few special days like on the
weekends Friday evenings, I think we will put a Santa
hat on the helmet. So definitely a fun photo opportunity
when you're in town. And you can also stop by
the Chamber office to buy some Chamber gift certificates. They're
(07:31):
great gifts for all of your loved ones for them
to be able to pick whatever they want from any
of the local businesses.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, there you go, a photo op, get some Chamber
gift certificates and you are set. If for any information
on all of this, check out Wapacanetta dot com. Lindsey,
did you teach the Italians how to say Wapa Canetta?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yes, I did a few of them. They're they're pretty impressed.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Nice Well, Merry Christmas, Happy holiday, and all of that
to you, Lindsey, and hopefully you get over your jet
leg quickly and we'll talk with you again soon.
