Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello de Troit.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
We are going to kirkdown in downtown Detroit to broadcast
live in mid December, thanks to Visit Detroit and visit
Detroit dot com and Claude Mullinari and oh we should
probably since we're going to Corktown. Ask for directions from
our very favorite Irish podcast or now our new star
of the show, madam. What is it about asking for

(00:26):
directions on the Emerald Isle?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Asking for directions in Ireland? Good luck? Is this the
way to the cliffs?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
And more?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Well, if I was going there, I probably wouldn't start
from there. Now, go straight down the road until you
think you've gone too far, then keep going a little
bit more. We measure distance by popes. Just go past
O'shes on the left, but that's been closed in nineteen
ninety eight, but you'll still see the sign up to
the top of the road. Turn right, you'll see a
lovely yellow house used to be owned by Mike O'Shea.
A lovely fella. You can't miss it. Good luck.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Slantchat. Paul Long, CEO of the Michigan Catholic Conference, was
in Ireland this summer and he is going to give
us directions right this moment to a place he stayed
this week called the Godfrey, and that's where we'll be
broadcasting from in mid December. Mister Longhow was it.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
It was really nice, Michael Patrick. You know it's it's
right there in the heart of Corktown. Nemos is right
across Michigan Avenue from it, and it's a lovely place,
a great addition to the city. The Godfrey Detroit. It's
it's part of the Curio collection by Hilton. It's at
the corner of Michigan and Eighth Street there in Corktown.
I believe it was built on the property the block

(01:36):
that used to house decades ago, the Lions offices back
when they played at Tiger Stadium. So it's a it's
a great spot, it's convenient to everything. There's a lovely
there's a lovely lobby bar. There is a beautiful looking
ballroom right there on the first floor. The rooms are
nice and the ones along Eighth Avenue have a nice

(01:58):
view of the city as per the picture I sent
you yesterday. On the seventh floor, that's the top floor,
and that has the io bar, which stands for indoor
outdoor and it is basically a rooftop lounge. It has
ceiling to floor windows. It has partially glass ceiling or

(02:18):
ceiling the floor windows. It has a partially glass ceiling,
and it has, particularly at nighttime, has spectacular views of
downtown Detroit. I think you're gonna have a great time.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Would you be saying then that we go to Nemo's
and cross the street. Those are the directions to get
to the Godfrey from Paul Long and a little Birdie
told me he was at the Michigan State game yesterday.
He does move it around and he could wear green
at both places and be very happy. Visit Detroit dot

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
