Oh why are we following Molly andMelvine? But I thought Melvin was only
interested in computers and inchworms, thatkind of stuff. It'll never work,
no way, You're one nun.Last night Melvin spent the entire night camped
outside Molly's front door. Now that'sromantic, that's silly. Besides, those

(01:49):
two have nothing in common. Hey, why are you so negative all of
a sudden, Because coming here's atotal waste of time. We shouldn't be
tracking the negaverse. Not Molly andMelvin gets it. There they come on,
let's go spid. Hello and welcomeback to Moonstar, a Sailor Moon

(02:10):

is the set of tutorial videos thatare going along with the Sailor Moon collectible
card game unofficial fan revival that haswas begun in the end of twenty twenty

(02:53):
two, still rolling fans. Continuationof the card game will be released later
this year. With these videos,we are casting vocals and animators and all
of that for that as well andall kinds of other things. Just check

(03:16):
Also, Moonstar will be releasing itsvery own Moon Pride Special in celebration of
June being Pride Month. Chris Alexand special guest Rhett Collects will be discussing
LGBT themes and representation in Sailor Moon, why it was so important back then,
why it's still so important now,and a lot more. Look for

(03:37):
Moon Pride, the Moonstar Special comingout later this June. All right,
the one other thing. At theend of this week's episode, I bring
up a Sailor Moon mystery that Iactually need your help with, So make
sure you stay tuned to the veryvery end because there are some pictures that

(03:58):
are going to be posted a littlebit later this week, and I need
all of you Moonstar Nancy Drew's outthere to help us get to the bottom
of it, because I really wantto know what's going on, and I
think it's interesting that Sailor Moon hasso many odd like discrepancies in its own
official merch history. You'll see whatI mean. Just yeah, check out
that little mystery at the end.All right, let's get into the episode.

(04:21):
Here we go. In my weekwas it was like up and down?

(04:42):
How about you? It's been fine. Haven't really had done a new
thing too exciting. The only thingthat is the most interesting so far as
this Sunday, I'm doing a appearanceon a I guess it's like a gay

(05:04):
lifestyle podcast that a guy that i'mum, I'm friends with and his like
one of his best friends run calleda queer insight and cool. They just
talk about everything related to like beinga being gay men. Um, and
they're late. I think they're bothlike a year older than me, so

(05:30):
everything to do about the gay lifestyleas a man, like if you're in
your late twenties early thorties. Sothat'll be fun. That'll be interesting at
least for me anyway, that demographic, um, so I'll probably be checking
that out. I'm sure some ofour listeners probably would want to hear that
too. Do you know when it'sdropping? Well, we're we're doing it

(05:54):
on Sunday night. But they um, they do weekly episodes, so they
think they get them up within liketwo or three days after recording. Okay,
so we'll look for that next week. That's exciting. And then I
think you mentioned also you did aninterview or you have one coming up?
Right? Yeah, The next interviewI'm doing is on Monday. It'll be

(06:18):
my two hundred and ninety eight. We've only got two more after that.
Yeah, yeah, And who isthis one with? Her name is Stephanie
Sutherland. It's funny because I hadreached out to her like two years ago
and then she just emailed me backlast week just saying that, Oh,

(06:42):
like, I'm sorry, I didn'tsee this. This is like my backup
Gmail account and could because she she'smostly known for playing Gene and guns an
Impact, which was one of thefirst ever playable characters in the game,
so she's owed for that. Andthen she's also a main antagonist character in
the fire Emblow mobile game. Um, so that'll just be another cast member

(07:06):
that I can add to both thefranchises. Oh yeah, you cut out
a little bit, oh, Iwas saying, Um, I feel like
those give you a lot of contentbecause they update like it seems like a
lot, and they add a lotof new characters all the time. Yeah.
If the fire Embow Mobile game hasupdates like once every other week,

(07:28):
and then genshen Um has one oncea month, and genshen doesn't have new
characters with every single update, butlike seventy five percent of updates have new
characters. Lost you again? Okay, Um, well, I'm sure it's
recorded on your end, so I'lldisplace that together. Okay, for if
you explain Agenshin, Well, that'sexciting. Say the name of the person

(07:51):
you're interviewing one more time, StephanieSutherland, and that'll be out win.
I'll probably get up the same dayon Monday, Okay, people can look
forward to that as well. SomethingI wanted to touch on a little bit
because I was looking for Sailor Moonnews, you know, to share,
and I came across an article. And this is the only reason I'm even

(08:16):
bringing this up is because I alsohad, like, there were some comments
on our show referencing the same thinggoing on, and twice in one week.
I'm like, I guess we shouldtalk about it, but I think
I may have mentioned it lightly before, but there's sort of this weird thing
going on on the internet right nowwhere there's like a push to completely erase

(08:39):
this version of Sailor Moon for somereason. And the comment was someone saying,
like, you know, Viz istrying to do it right and they
can't believe it. But fortunately there'sshows like Hours and other shows and like
you know, Fighter for Love's fandub who does the Deek stuff and all
that, so there's all of theseother options for fans who still like that

(09:01):
world, but we're the ones creatingit, right yeah, And I'm like,
yeah, of course that's a greatopinion, or that's a great point
of you to have on it,like they might not want it to continue,
but there's plenty of fans who willmake content. Right. But then
the article was like going on andon about how like and I don't want

(09:22):
to make people mad because I ama member of the LGBT community and I
am you know, gender fluid. But this is where I get lost with
our community sometimes because it was likethrowing the words cis gender around a lot
and making a lot of like accusatorylike statements against and like assumptions of the

(09:43):
intention of the production, you knowwhat I'm saying. Like it was it
was like really going at it ina way that as a member of that
community, I'm like, I don'tagree with that, and I don't really
want that speaking for me, youknow. So the reason I'm bringing it
up is I wanted to know, what, if anything, have you seen

(10:03):
of that nature? First, Oh, I haven't. I don't think I've
seen anything about people wanting to getrid of the original dub. I think
because you interview a lot of theVIZ characters or the VIZ voice actors,
you might sort of be safe fromthat. Yeah, I think there's something

(10:24):
about like I don't know because youremember we got that huge pushback on Twitter
too when we did the Terry Hawksinterview and it was over the same issue.
And I just find it so odd, this weird move to like erase
any form of history, because it'slike, wait a second, even if
you don't like that that happened,if you erase it, then A you

(10:46):
have no proof that it ever happened, and then B it's gonna happen again.
Yeah, do you know what I'msaying? Like you need it there
as a reference point so you canbe like, see what we had to
do before because of X y Z, we don't need to do that again.
But it's still but that doesn't meanthat you have to like shame what
happened before all the time. Idon't know. It's very confusing, Yeah,

(11:09):
But the reason I bring it upis on our content wherever we post,
like if it's a Facebook post,if you're listening to us on YouTube
or wherever, you are allowed toreference the Deep Dub as much or as
little as you want. You areallowed to use whatever form of names you
want. And like anyone who attacksanyone for a preference of their version of

(11:30):
the show is just going to bebanned from our socials, Like, I'm
just gonna have to say that becauseI'm not going to put up with that,
And there's plenty of other like placeson the Internet for you to attack
people, but it's not going tobe like part of this show. Do
you feel comfortable with that statement?Okay, because I'm just it hasn't really

(11:50):
happened on any of our stuff, like other than that one Twitter thing,
but I am seeing, like, you know, these articles come up and
people are commenting that it's happening. So if anyone is experiencing that like in
other places in the Sailor Moon fandomand you're like, I don't feel like
I can you know, gush overnineties Moon or whatever, you can do

(12:13):
it here, it's just fine.We encourage it. So yeah, that's
that was one little like dip inmy week because I was just like,
what a bummer, Like, whydo we have to be arguing over this
garbage? Well, I think,um, if new fans are discovering the
original dub and are mad about thegay related censorship, it's you know,

(12:37):
it's it's really simple. It's likeit's a children's show. Like they can't
back then they can't have a gayrelationship on a children's show. It's like,
are you guys fucking crazy? It'slike it's it's that it's that easy
to understand it is. But thereare some people who I think live in
a bubble that it's a little moreprogressive in their area, and then they

(13:00):
kind of lose touch with the likerealities that a lot of the rest of
us who don't live there are dealingwith, you know what I mean,
Like, like what you were justreferencing, Disney recently took a stance Basically
they had to decide are we goingto be progressive or not right? And
then they made a hard choice andthey're like, we're going to include LGBT
characters now. And because of that, they are getting like pushed back in

(13:26):
a lot of places in this dayand age, just like like people not
allowing Disney in the school libraries orwhatever, you know what I mean.
Like there's all kinds of things likethat that happened today. So the idea
that people are so hard on somethingthat was created in the nineties, and
by the way, the fact thatthey barely hide to tried the game,
like they barely tried to hide thatUranus and Neptune were lesbians. It was

(13:50):
literally like we're cousins, lall likelike. And that's the other thing is
people react to that and they're like, they're not fooling anyone girl. They
were not trying to they were.It was like, it's like, I
think this is the best way peoplemight understand it. You know, when
you go somewhere in person to havesome like to get a service done,

(14:11):
maybe like get your oil changed orwhatever, and then they go through a
certain step that's stupid and annoying, like checking a certain document or checking your
idea, and they're like, oh, got to do it. Big brothers
watching, you know what I mean, because they're on camera and it's for
the job, and it's like adumb thing you have to do, but
it's required. It's like that,like they'd probably didn't want to go erasing

(14:33):
all that or whatever changing it.They literally just had to. So they
did it in a way that waslike as I don't know, obvious as
possible. I guess in most cases, the zoisite was the only one I
think that was the most, thatchanged the most and was the most convincing.
Does that make sense? Yeah?Well, and even I don't know

(14:56):
if I mentioned this before, Iprobably did. But Barbara Rebecky, who
is one of the original cast membersI've done that, she was the voice
of MITI do and she said thatlike pretty early on that the director of
the dub at that point came inand you know, had Sarah Lafloor,
who played Harika and Barbara start recordingit as if they were, you know,

(15:22):
in a relationship and not just notjust related. So because and that's
that chemistry came through. Yeah, going so well. And I was just
going to say that even behind thescenes, it's like they weren't trying to
get rid of it entirely or anythinglike that. And I don't think a
lot of people probably don't know aboutthat. They probably don't, which is
fair. And I have to givesome people a little bit of slack on

(15:46):
their reactions for lack of information, because I actually I don't believe in shaming
people for being ignorant, you knowwhat I mean, Like you can't help
what you don't know because you don'tknow what you don't know. Like justist
it is how it is. ButI think if people claim to be huge
fans of sailor Moon that it wouldbe who of them to dig a little
before attacking other fans of the showand like, but I think all communities

(16:11):
have in fighting over something. Yeah, to a degree. It is Pride
month. Happy Pride to you.Do you have any Pride plans? Uh?
Not, not anything super specific. There's just um, I actually haven't
gone to it at all, butthere's I mean, Minneapolis has their own

(16:32):
big, you know festival every year. Um, it's I'm pretty sure it's
this year. It's towards the endof the month. It's like the second
to last weekend or the last weekendof June. Um, I'm sure I'll
go to that, just because Ihaven't gone to any Pride stuff and since
I've lived here, and I'm surethere will be other shows. I'm just

(16:56):
normal shows that I'm going to beforethis month ends too. Yeah, well
if you do, let us knowhow it goes. I'm going to sit
this one out because of my location, right and because of the heat.
I also, I think both ofthose are fair reasons. But I will
probably do other things to celebrate. We are going to celebrate here. We're

(17:18):
going to do a Moon Pride specialwhich actually focuses in more detail on the
LGBTQ representation within Sailor Moon, bothin the nineties and today and in the
importance of that and all of that. And we're going to have a guest
for that episode as well. Doyou want to tell us a little bit
about him? Now? We coulddo a little intro for him, I
guess. Yeah. His name isRhet Davis. He goes by a maister

(17:42):
Raett on Instagram, and he's he'smy age. He's Sailor Moon toy collector
and a Proplica collector. He hasa bunch of dolls from like vintage dolls
and the newer release Japanese dolls, and he also has the newer and old

(18:03):
Bandai Proplica wands and compacts that theyput out. He collects Southern media involving
Sailor Moon. Well, that's awesome. And he can you spell his Instagram
thing? Yeah? Let me justmake sure it's getting it right off the
top of my head, yep.So his Instagram is a Rhett Collects,

(18:27):
So it's just the name Rhett andthen the word collects, okay, all
in one. Yeah, yeah. And I was looking through it and his
collection is impressive and that he photographs. It really well and everything and it's
it's presented very nicely. So ifyou guys want to check that out early,
head on over to his instagram nowyou can, you know, check

(18:47):
out his collection. And we're hopingto drop that episode on June thirtieth,
so also to celebrate Serena's birthday orzogging, and yeah, I'm excited for
that. We might have a doublefeature. Some other specials are coming up
for the summer as well. Andlet's see. I think that's it for

(19:08):
the intro. Do you want tojust jump in? Yeah, that's fine,
all right. Today on Sailor Moon, an amusement park tacks in a
whole lot more walloped than the priceof a ticket. It's a full on
battle between the Sailor Scouts dominions ofthe negaverse I thing for control of all
the rainbow crystals. Who wins?Stick around and find out. We'll be

(19:32):
right back. What is this week'sepisode title? In Japanese? Umi Knows
Resolve All Protect Naru. That's cute. Actually it's just Tuxedo Melvin and the
English. I like both this week. Tuxedo Melvin fits the deek vibe more
so, it makes more sense, and how do we open this episode?

(19:56):
It's Luna in the arcade late atnight, laying information to one of the
computer screens, and then whoever's onthe other side tells her that the fifth
Guardian will appear very soon. Yeah. Is that all he's talking about there?

(20:17):
Oh? And I guess the otherThe other thing is just that it's
just time for Luna to tell themthat there's still one more person that is
going to be joining them. Okay, so this is more focused on Venus.
It was about recapping who has Witchcrystals and kind of basically being like,
get it together. We've got toget those crystals back. Central Control

(20:44):
come in, please, Central Controlcome in. This is Luna checking in
new password. The big bull headedscout will always play while the cats away
voice check complete. Now give Paulgot the red tape? Just tell me
what you've got. The fifth Sailorwill soon appear. Oh right, that's

(21:07):
really good news. We could dosome more help. Have you got a
picture so I can fight her?No, she'll find you now about Serena.
Hey, she's not easy, guys, we'll try harder. The negaverse
has four crystals. We have onlyone, don't forget Taxidomask has two,
but you can't count on him. You're going to have to get Serena to
take this sailor business. Seriously,We've got to get those crystals back time

(21:36):
for an emergency meeting. And thenLuna calls an emergency Scouts meeting because of
this, So we see them meetingup late at night, and that I
think the main reason they did thiswas an opportunity for different clothes. Can
you just because they're not in theirfour uniforms, right, can you describe
their outfits? Yeah? Well Ithink Ray is in the normal shrine outfit,

(22:02):
isn't she she is? Yeah? The other girls, yeah, they're
all just Usagi, Makoto and Amyare just in like, I don't know,
nice stylish, stylish, casual likefall clothes. Yeah, I'm gonna
post screenshots of it. But theone that stood out to me was Serena
because she has this like oversized sweaterthat comes down over the shoulders and then

(22:25):
under it you can see it lookslike what I think it is a tank
top or whatever. Yeah, andthat looked to me for some reason,
I've always loved that look, andit's a look that, you know,
growing up as a boy, Iwas like, I want to wear that,
but you can't. So I justenjoyed that one because it looks very
comfy. And yeah, Amy's wasmore like you know traditional. Up to

(22:48):
the neck there was like a littlebow thing. She looked like, you
know, ready to go out.And then Leta had a green something cute.
I can't really remember what it lookslike exactly, but I think that's
why they probably said it at thistime. Also, they like to get
moonshots from the sky because you knowwhat is the Luna just goes central has
a message for you, Serena. What was it in the Japanese? Oh

(23:11):
yeah, that it's about that therethere is a kingdom on the moon and
that Luna came from the moon andthat they one of their other main goals
is to find the princess from themoon, and the three girls, besides

(23:32):
the Sagi take it seriously. Andthen the last thing that is Sagi says
when the scene is over is liketalking about because in the in the Japanese,
there's this secret code riddle thing thatLuna has to say before she can
talk to whoever is relaying her information. Um, and it's like it's something

(23:52):
like rice cakes, Bunny on themoon or whatever, and then it is
like, oh is it, likeis that really true about how like you
can get rice cakes are like specificto the moon kingdom up there? And
then everyone's like, oh, you'relike we're you not listening to anything that

(24:14):
we were just talking about, andthen yeah, that's cute. The Deek
was nothing like that at all.Okay, not even a little. Actually,
I think they were like, that'stoo much plot. These kids are
gonna get lost. So here's whatwe're doing. We're gonna recap what we
just recapped again, talk about therainbow crystals. Why don't they have more
of them? Amy's smart, she'sgot a computer. She's gonna make a

(24:37):
computer program to help them, butshe hasn't figured out yet that's why we
don't see it. And then alsothey randomly throw in the fifth Scout conversation
here, just Lita being like Ihope she shows up soon, and it
just came out of note. I'mlike, when did you learn about her?
Like I don't. I might havemissed it this time taking notes,

(24:59):
like maybe, but I started typingthem so I would be faster, so
I went miss stuff so I don'tthink so, And I just thought that
was sort of funny the way thatthey convoluted that conversation together. As luck
would have it, Alex did indeedmissed some details whilst taking his notes.

(25:22):
Better luck next time, Alex.Let's take a listen. Oh, why
can't we have emergency meetings during school? Luna's got Noah's men for sleep evening

(25:45):
girls. Central has a message foryou, Serena. Get your act together.
Oh give me a brain now, listen up. Central Controls discovered another
sailor? So what else did Centraltell you? We need those other crystals?

(26:06):
Could your microcomputer home in on them? Well, I've tried to make
a program for that, but itdidn't work. Amy. Don't worry,
you'll figure it out. In themeantime. You guys have got to stick
together and be on total alert.Understand. You don't need to tell me
don't start up again. Ray.I wonder what the fifth scout is like,
I sure hope she'll be able tohelp us out. Well, don't

(26:27):
count on her showing up anytime soon. It's still up to you Fall to
stop the niggling. But also, had I had you not told me what
happened in the Japanese. I actuallywouldn't have clocked that they changed it because
it did kind of make sense tothe plot. Yeah, and also the
message for Serena was just Luna screamingget your act together in her face,

(26:48):
which I thought was funny. Didthey also leave in the there's a shot
that it's really brief, but it'sit's a It's a large pan shot that
shows all of the girls reacting towhat Luna is saying at first, and
then it goes up to the moon. I think so. I would have
to go back and double check though. Yeah. But I did notice though,

(27:14):
and actually, like, as yousaid, that, we go right
into one of the scenes that Iwas going to reference this for. But
I really liked the animation in thisone. And the first time I noticed
it was when they did that transitionto the negaverse, and it kind of
like starts with these evil flower things, do you know what I'm talking about?
Yeah, and then you get theshot of them like holding the rainbow
crystals on that little platter that's likea pillow platter that I love. For

(27:37):
some reason, they do this inthe Rainbow Bright movie too. In animation.
I love like a jewel or acrystal on a pillow, Like do
you know what I mean? Like, there's something about that esthetic that is
just so pleasing and in real lifelike I couldn't care less, but in
anime it's nice. What did younotice that at all the anime? Yeah?

(28:00):
Yeah, and then yeah, thisepisode is another one that's done by
my second favorite artist behind Ikuko Eto. It's another one that it's another episode
that he, Sashikagawa did who againto go over? He did in season
one, he did Makoto's debut,He did the Adams Family Haunted Beach episode.

(28:22):
He did he did the art forMoon Healing, Escalation, and Supreme
Thunder. The first one that Iclocked was the Haunted Mansion one because there
was like a moment in this whereI was like, oh, that reminds
me of that episode, and it'sbecause it was him and he did them.
He did the I think he Ithink it was entirely him that he

(28:47):
was in charge of the of thes movie. Now really, I'm pretty
sure it's entirely in his art style. Yeah. And then the last episode
that he did of the series overallwas Makoto's Dream mirror episode. The s
movie looks like ETO to me.It's like, yeah, it's not,
but I guess not. She didn't. She didn't do any work on I'm

(29:12):
seeing it now second third movies. You know why Rainey's face is way rounder.
I know she's also younger, butyeah, there's just little things like
that. I think he has moreof a roundness to them. And then
Itto was a little more angular rightwith the characters. That's kind of one
of her esthetics. Huh. Butthis one has a lot of great moments

(29:33):
though, Like with animation, that'sthe first one I picked up on.
What is happening here with Zoisite andQuinzite. Uh, they're just going over
that it would be better for amultudeive reasons and it would look a lot
prettier if they had all the sevencrystals. And then zoo Site says that

(29:53):
he'll rectify it, and Quincite saysthat he wants to see Barrel be happy
when or Barrel's reaction to when thesilver crystal appears. Yeah, it's close
enough to what they did in theDeep one. They probably just changed some
of the wording a little bit.I don't know. I liked this little

(30:18):
moment with them. I like seeinglike this is something to me that was
kind of unique about this season whereit was like both sides had a reach,
like a collection mission at the sametime, kind of in a way
that like, we see this, how do I afford this? These scenes

(30:40):
between Zoisite and Kuns I feel likethe only time we see anything similar to
the Scout meetings between you know whatI'm saying. It's like villains like not
killing each other, right and actuallyhelping each other. I don't know,
there's something unique about their relationship, and I think it's really starting to stand
out here. Look at them Suicide. They're beautiful, but we still need

(31:07):
three. That's true. But Iabsolutely have no doubt you'll be able to
get them back from our enemies intime. I believe in you. Then
the Nega Force will be free andthe universe will be ours, all ours,
Malachite, don't get ahead of yourself. We still need to figure out
how to transform these crystals into theImperium silver crystal. We are still a

(31:32):
long way from freeing the Negaverse anda long way from pleasing Queen Beryl.
We must please the Queen. Ijust really enjoy that aspect of it.
We cut from here to Melvin andMolly eating lunch together with Serena behind them,
and what is going on here?Whom you know says that he'll give

(31:57):
Larrow a piece of his temper ashrimp, and then she gets him a
piece of green pepper and prayed forit, and he says, oh,
you can just have it, andthen it is no when the Newsagi comes
up behind them from the bench andsays that they're like, oh, it's
just like you're in a relationship, and then let you know, it gets
all flustered and Naru's says, oh, no, like we're not, and

(32:23):
then he just gets sad and walksaway. It's cuter in the English one
because it's actually more the angle oflike Molly's trying to drop hints that she
likes him and he's just kind ofnot getting it or something, and she
says like something about that or something, and then they call him a dweetmeister

(32:44):
again and they don't want to makehim explode or something like I don't know,
And then Serena decides to help, though, yeah, how does she
help when they're just sitting in theirclassroom when not that many people are around,
she tells them that she should belike tuxedo mask, and then he
doesn't really immediately know who that isuntil she says so. And then later

(33:12):
after school, when Nauru and Osakiare walking home, there's this heavy set
woman with a poodle that is walkingby, and the poodle starts yapping aggressively
at them, and then Lumio showsup in that cosplay and it says that
he's going to get rid of thedog, and then the woman takes out
this like toy mallet and like knockshim on the head and then that's the

(33:38):
scene. I actually can't remember ifshe hits him with the mallet or not
in the English one, but Iremember the rest of it. They might
have taken that out because of violence. But yeah, and they called the
dog fifish one, which kind ofmakes this scene funnier. And then the
like and I don't know what tocall her. I almost called her an

(33:59):
NPC, but like, you know, the lady with the dog whatever side
character. She has like some funnymoments here, like because the dog's name
is fife, huh Fifee. Come, you don't know these girls, Fifi,
stop yelling if you're scaring my praiseCanine. I am tuxedo melan defender

(34:24):
of helpless babsters and how we getout will buy you an ice cream?
So I think they played with thata little to make it more comedic.
But poor Melvin getting beat up forthe first time here, it's not the
last time this episode though. Whydo you think Melvin is acting like this

(34:51):
though? Just because he likes Snarerthat much and he wants he wants her
to notice him them out same andthat's in context. Yeah, And I
think this is a great example ofhim sort of being or why I read
him as like a neurodivergent character, because he if you in the English one

(35:13):
at least, Serena basically just helpshim by describing romance, and the way
she describes romance is just tuxedo maskesthetically and then like Umino or Melvin takes
that literally and then just as likeokay, I'll be him, you know
what I mean, And it's likeit's kind of a not everyone, but
it's there is this sort of literalway of taking things that people like you

(35:37):
know sometimes do, And I thoughtthat was a cute moment of that,
like a cute example of that whereit's like, oh, that's not really
what she meant, but also verysweet, like you know, I don't
know, it's just it's a littlecute detail of his character that I enjoyed.
Yeah, so first he's say, quote saves them from Fifi the dog.

(36:00):
Who is the next or what isthe next thing he tries to save
them from. Oh, it's twell, it's not really that same thing,
but it's just when they're about they'rethey're walking by the arcade and then
they're about to go in, andthen he says that, oh, you
shouldn't go in and you should studyinstead, because you're going to just spend

(36:22):
all your time and money here. And then but then he's like, but
if you are going to go in, then you should let you can like
walk over me, and then getsdown on the floor and then they walk
over him. I'm glad they changedthat because that makes me uncomfortable. No,
so he shows up and yeah,he's like, I'm going to protect

(36:42):
you from wasting money. HI wantto play a few games? Cool,
do not venture into this den ofdangerous ladies. You just wished your time
and your money. I cannot letyou pass who if you want to go
through that door. It'll be overmy prone body if if you were missed,

(37:07):
and they say chivalry is did Ithink I liked it better when he
was just shory, come on,give him a chance, which I thought
was cute. And then he triesto stop them by being like, it'll
be over my dead body. Andthen that's why he's like laying on the
ground, and then they step onhim, and it's supposed to be like

(37:28):
funny, like ohhh, they werelike fine whatever, Melvine, like you
weirdo, which it's still not thenicest thing, but like him laying down
and being like you can walk onme, it just like makes my stomach
turn a little. Yeah, it'slike a it's like a fetish thing.
Is that. I guess you're right, you know what, If that's why
you're doing it, feel free knockyourself out. But for the character of

(37:50):
Melvine, it just made me alittle sad in that moment, mostly because
he don't have to do all that. Molly already likes him, or at
least in the deep was it.And the thing, the thing that it
reminds me me of is if ifyou if you went to conventions too,
you would see this. There's alwaysat least two or three maybe really attractive

(38:14):
women cosplayers that are a dressed aswhatever anime character, and they're holding up
signs that say, if you giveme a few dollars, then i'll I'll
step on you and you can liketake a picture of me stepping on you.
Hey, I mean get your cointo inflation? Is crazy. My

(38:35):
salary hasn't changed into eleven years anyway. No, that's so funny to me.
I'm not shocked though at all, because I mean there's all kinds of
stuff that happens at conventions that's kindof like tame, really, isn't it.
Anyway? We don't need to exposethem. Keep on keeping on at
the conventions, you guys, enjoyyourselves. This arcade scene happens, and

(38:59):
we see this moment between Andrew andSerena. And Andrew gives them tickets.
What are these tickets for? Iwant to go see the Wacky World wrestlers
really of course? Oh he wantsto take me out. Oh we should
go over to school for fast.Oh this is wicked cool here you are.
I'm glad they won't go to waste. I can't make it. You're

(39:22):
not going. Rita's supposed to becalling me from Africa that afternoon. Oh
I don't want him. Huh whatgives? Girl? Hey, I'm brilliant.
You're taking milan. Someone calling betterthan nine one one must have been
dropped at his head as a child. Oh, co Lilly, go ahead

(39:45):
and ask him to go. Look, he did save your life and sure
he cannot normal And okay, Melvin, I've got tickets to the Wacky Wrestless.
Want to go with me? Hey? Yeah, maybe I'll even challenge
them to take on Taxito. No, it's for a that's called Red Man

(40:12):
in the Japanese, which is kindof like, I mean, I know
that this predates Power Rangers, butit's that's basically what it is. Um,
it's like this superhero action uh fightingshow at a at a It's it's
for children, really, um ata at a local amusement park. Is
it a reference to a real thingor is it supposed? Is it just

(40:34):
kind of like similar to that?Uh well, that's that's not referencing anything
like specific thing. But for areally long time in Japan, um shows
like that, like not just animebut live action whatever. Um, superhero
shows have been a thing, andlike in Japan's specific way, they're not

(40:57):
They're not anything like American super herostuff. That's just what it's referencing.
Okay, I gotcha. Yeah, the show they call it the Wacky World
Wrestlers in this one, because ofcourse they do. I think they could
have left that one the same, but whatever, they were going for a

(41:17):
joke, I think with the title. And what is Serena think is going
on here before she realizes that he'sgiving her both tickets? Okay, well,
she thinks that Matoki is finally askingher out, but then then he
just then she just suggests that Uminoand Naru go together. Yeah, and
in the English they added in thathe's giving up the tickets because Rita can't

(41:40):
go, which is another example ofthem kind of continuing these like storylines off
screen a little bit to remind theaudience, like, hey, he has
a girlfriend. She's a lady.You met her, she was a monster.
But I kind of liked that theydo that actually, because it's a
good They do it again later too, with someone else, and I think
if they didn't like, I thinkbecause they do it makes the person feel
less like a one episode character.Yeah, I don't know. It gives

(42:05):
them a little more life. Andthen we go to Zoisite doing something here
with a really cool looking cauldron. What's going on. He's modifying the black
crystal so it can transform random peopleinto monsters. Another crystal will soon be
ours. I'm going to get thatcrystal the Sailor Scouts have, and Netflix's

(42:36):
old friend Molly's going to help me. You'll be so proud, Malachite,
and we'll finally be one step closerto making all our dreams come true.
I don't know if they actually explainedthat that's what it was doing in the

(43:00):
English one. I want to saythat they made it seem like it was
supposed to be able to find justwhere the crystals were or something like first.
I don't know, but they Ithink they might have changed that a
little bit, even though it stilldoes the same thing. They I think
they changed the explanation. But afterthis moment there, which this was another

(43:21):
one of those animation moments that Iwas like, Oh, this is really
cool. I loved how they didthis. Where does Zoist decide to go
First? He goes to Nauru's apartmentwith the intention of turning her. Turning
her into a monster right then andthere, and then he notices that he

(43:45):
doesn't realize that it's not actually Mamoro, but he sees um you know,
dressed up in the cosplay still, and then to himself he just says,
oh, well, out of respectfor him, then I'm not going to
cause a scene here. I'll justtry again the next day. And then

(44:07):
so he leaves, and then whomyou know gets really scared after Zooste leaves
and he doesn't realize what that was. And then when he falls over,
then Nauru hears him and then comesout of the apartment and asked, like,
what the hell are you doing? And it was funny because I love

(44:27):
that him being there. Well, depending on how you want to spin it,
if you want to say so,I guess it could be creepy,
but he was essentially like a deterrentjust by the appearance of something that wasn't
really there. Does that make sense. It's like when people put up signs
on their house that says cameras butthere's no cameras, or if they do
have cameras and they don't work, just the presence of the camera is a

(44:50):
deterrent, you know what I mean? That kind of idea, and I
had a little I thought it wasfunny because he was essentially like acting like
a human ring doorbell. Yeah, because those you know, those videos are
all over. But yeah, hewas really brave. But I don't blame
him for being scared though, either, because that in real life, that
would be terrifying if someone just showedup in the middle of the night when

(45:12):
you were, like, I don'tknow, trying to protect a girl or
I don't know, don't do whathe did, though, FYI please,
that's weird. But what do wecut to the next day? It's at
the amusement park, and then Usakiand Luna are heading to the show,
and then Luna is asking if Usakiwas listening to what they were to what

(45:34):
their meeting was about the other night, and then she said, yeah,
but like my friend's love life ismore important right now, and then she
just runs away. Yeah, andthey're here because well, Serena wants to,
like, you know, make sureMolly and Melvin work out, and
Luna is mostly just like frustrated withher at this point, at least in

(45:57):
the Deek one, because she's like, we should be looking for the other
crystals I don't know if she referencesthat or not. Yeah, But and
then we cut to a moment.I don't know what they used in the
Japanese, but when we first seethe show like that you were talking about
the two guys like acting fighting. They used the Scout's battle theme, like
from what they usually use for remodels who face Hi, Mom, then

(46:30):
can we go have lunch if it'snot too violent for you? That's okay,
Molly, I packed us a picniclunch. Mom never lets me eat
fast food. She's afraid too badfor my brain lights up, big guy.
So I thought that was kind ofinteresting that they took what's usually reserved

(46:52):
for the girls. Yeah, forsomething else. Can you describe what?
Oh? I guess it's just amerry go around. We see zoyside on
a merryground. Looks really cool, and what happens He just immediately uses the
black crystal to turn Naru into amonster. But then as it's sending the

(47:13):
blast that would turn her into amonster, or she bends over to pick
up her school her school book suitcase, and then it ends up hitting the
red man like the main actor inthe stage in the stage show. Yeah,
and he turns into like a bigred monster and he starts attacking the

(47:37):
other actor. Excellent, now ismy chance to snag Molly. Anyone else
stared to check me on. I'venever done that. I've seen it twenty

(48:15):
times. No, there's time wefight for real. What Oh great,
I said that stupid stunt man insteadof that girl Molly. What is this
monster is like attack by the waythat he uses Uh, it's I didn't

(48:35):
look up to what it's referencing, specifically in Japanese, because after every time
that he that that happens, hesays that it's like this plant ball from
this specific like lake, which I'mpretty sure is a resort in Japan,
like an actual resort um. Butthey're they're plant spore type things, and

(49:04):
they in case anybody they hit,and then they just gradually grow over the
person until they're trapped inside and theycan't they can't really breathe. Yeah,
it's essentially reusing the tennis ball idea, but with like weed balls. Yeah,

(49:24):
which they didn't explain what it wasin the English one until way later,
So the whole time I was like, is this a meatball? Is?
What is this? Like? Whatis going on? As it spinach
like I don't get it. Andthen finally later Zoysites like their weeds and
it's like, oh thank you fortyfive minutes later. But anyway, so
yeah, we see this weird happening, like weird attack. I don't like

(49:47):
this attack. I think it takesaway from the episode. This is the
like the one part of the episodethat lost points from me. But we
do see Tuxedo Melvin step into action, and what does he do. I've
got plenty to go around. Holy, get out of there, Helen.
Oh no way, Tuxedo Melvin's gonnastop you up. No, Malvin,

(50:12):
you're gonna be hurting when you geta tastefull of my wrath. These shrimps
are spicy. He'll feel real goodin your eyes. Now, then you
get hard. It's so everybuddy.Oh no, that tuxedo melon. You

(50:35):
hear me, You don't know whoyou're dealing with, bully pick on my
girl, No way, Melvin's meloaf. Oh he just throws a bunch
of temperar shrimp at it and itdoesn't react. Yeah, He's like,
it's a spicy shrimp, and thenhe throws it like the rose and of

(50:55):
course he doesn't do anything, andthen he hits the monster with his backpack,
and then I made a note likethis is one of the reasons why
I love his character so much, because he has a very unique brand of
like misplaced bravery and courage where hehas no chance ever, but he's kind
of he's fear very fearful too,but he still goes for it. So

(51:19):
it's like it's almost better than himnot being scared, you know. And
it's it's like a little thing thatI think is endearing about him here.
And also I wrote that the monsteris like really kicking his ass, like
he gets really beat up, tothe point where by the end of it,
I was like, Okay, nowI just feel bad for him.
But and now we get this wellanimated moment with Molly trying to run and

(51:44):
help him before then she gets putinto like a meatball thing, and I
was like, oh, that wasreally pretty, But then it got dumb,
you know. Yeah, after Melvinefinally passes out or and everyone's like,
you know, in the weed things, and this is by the way,
where Zoysite tells us that their weeds. What happens Sailor Moon confronts smooths

(52:07):
to confront the monster, but thenzoa Site intercepts her and says to give
to give him the one rainbow crystalthat they have that the Scouts have,
and then she she says that ifshe doesn't, where he says that if
she doesn't, then he'll let everybodywho is trapped by the monster's attack suffocate

(52:35):
and die. And then so shehands over the orange rainbow crystal. Yeah,
it's pretty much the same. Idon't think she gets his intense with
the wording though Zoysite doesn't with likesuffocate and die in the dec one.
But it's pretty much the same idea, same outcome. Obviously it's the same

(52:57):
show. But then this little momentwhere it Tuxedo and Zoisite kind of face
off was pretty cool. It wasjust very short, but it was animated
nicely. And then how does likethe battle resolve itself? The weld Tuxedo
Match shows up and knocks the crystalaway, but and then Usaki tries to

(53:22):
grab it, but the monster attacksher and then Zoasite holds off Tuxedo mask
and then while that's going on,she Usaki uses the Moon escalation to save
everything, but Zoahsite still manages toget the Rainbow crystal back. Yeah,

(53:46):
And a point of interest about thisbattle is that it's a unique moment.
And see this part of season onewhere we see Sailor Moon fighting without any
of the other scouts, right, she still has Tuxedo or Anne Melvin,
I guess technically to help this time. But she weakens the moster herself with
her tiara, like you said, and then heals it. And I think

(54:09):
that this is interesting because it showsa unique heightened level of responsibility in her.
When she's fighting by herself, herintuition seems a lot stronger, and
she was able to do like theentire deal of weakening and healing completely on
her own. And I thought forher character development as a superhero, that's

(54:30):
actually kind of a crucial moment. We see her step into her own a
little bit here more. And thenafter that with Zoisite ending up taking the
crystal and everything. Oh and thenjust to throw her some flowers here,
Terry Terry Hawks does an especially goodjob in this episode, I feel like

(54:52):
with her vocal range, and Iwas thinking about it, and I think
it's probably one of the reasons whyshe's a lot of people's favorites, but
it just it reminded me of areference that I think some of our listeners
will understand. I feel like inthe recording booth, she's very Tyra Banks
modeling, and if you ever watchedAmerica's Next Top Model, which I'm not

(55:13):
saying they were good to the girlsby the way, relax, but Tyrad
did give some good advice about actuallymodeling on that show sometimes. And one
of the things she said was likethe key to like giving a good session
or whatever is you do these microchanges for each shot, so you're like
not making huge movements, but you'rejust changing certain details every time, and

(55:37):
it gives them like a billion thingsto choose from, right, And I
think Terry probably was the master ofthat. With vocals in the recording booth,
she probably just was giving them constantlylike I'm gonna do it this way,
I'm gonna do it that way,and I'm gonna slightly change it because
it just is really I don't know. For some reason, in this episode,
I was like, Okay, Ihave to throw her something flowers here.

(56:00):
I'm really feeling her shine a little. In the Japanese version, I
feel like, um no shade tothe original voice actress. But it's kind
of like it's it's hard to appreciatethe cuteness of it if you're if you're
translating subtitles. Does that make sense, like if you're reading subtitles at the

(56:20):
same time. Yeah. But anyway, we end up with this adorable scene
with Molly and Melvin and what arethey talking about here? Well, first,
one thing that we didn't touch onis when Nauru is about to lose
consciousness when she's fully enveloped in oneof those plant balls, as she thinks

(56:44):
that Momoro fighting Zoah Site was um, you know, fighting off Zoah Site.
Um so that. Man, Idon't know if they showed that in
the English. I'm not remembering it, but it might be there. I
would have to, but I can'tremember it right now. No, that's
interesting. But she she's just impressedby how hard he fought. Well,

(57:07):
maybe it was there. I don'tknow why they would cut that out unless
it was like a timing issue orsomething. Um yeah, that's really cute.
No, but later we cut tothem after the fight is resolved and
they're hanging out and joking and Mollyagrees to go get milk shakes. Now,

(57:29):
Vinnie was so bright, but areyou sure you're okay? Nothing?
Sharing my favorite milk shake? Wokeurevanilla and prunes for you. I can
handle it. You remembered with Melvinand he's like my favorite. She's like

(57:52):
vanilla and prune. And there itis again, the vanilla and prune milk
shakes. So if anyone is keepingtale, let us know in the comments.
How many times has it come upby now? I would like to
know. So I just thought thatwas hilarious. I was like, they
really anytime he's on screen, They'relike, We've got to do it every
time. And then we get tosee the locket again, and what is

(58:15):
the what's going on here with thelocket? Well, she's before everybody splits
away. Usagi thanks Mamoru for helpinghelping her, and then he says,
well, I don't know why you'rethanking me, because if I had gotten

(58:36):
the rainbow crystal, I would havejust kept it for myself. And then
he walks away. And then inthe scene and the last scene that you're
talking about, Luna is trying totalk to her, but then Usagi is
just playing the locket and thinking aboutthe uncertainty of her relationship with a Tuxedo
Mask, and then it ends. The episode ends with animation of him facing

(59:02):
his back to her, just walkingaway. Yeah, it's pretty similar to
that she turned of. Instead offocusing I guess on her relationship specifically with
him, it's more like is heon our side or not? Because he's
also after the rainbow crystals. It'svery like where does he stand? Was
more than vibe there. But Ilike this moment. I think the locket

(59:23):
is always a great time. Ilike the audio, the whatever version.
I think they actually changed it alittle in the English, like the deep
one, but it's almost the same. It's like just slightly different. I
feel so stupid. The crystal wasright there and I didn't even see it.
Sorry for letting you down, Serena. They are not the one who

(59:45):
let me down. Please tell meTuxedo Mask is still on our side,
the imperium the crystal will be mine. So I love whenever we get to

(01:00:07):
hear that. And yeah, that'sthe end of the episode. And I
put here right this episode right nowbecause we always forget, so we better
do that. You go first.I give it a four. I give
it a four point five. Itlost point five for me from the weird
attack from the monster. What's yourrating based on? Yeah, I guess

(01:00:30):
it's that. And then I don'tknow. I don't really like let me
know that much as a character, but fair enough. The only insense that
I do like him, I guess, and I think it's just because of
the episode itself is the the lovecontest episode in the third season. But

(01:00:51):
besides that, Yeah, it's justthose two things. For me. That's
fair enough. I enjoy him alot, so this one probably gets just
a point five more because we seehim and Molly's relationships starting here. I
thought the animation was pretty exceptional almostall the way throughout, and I loved
the character development we got with Serena. I like that they're starting to mention

(01:01:12):
the fifth Scout in this episode, and I kind of loved the mystery that
they built behind Sailor Venus before shewas introduced. I think they do a
great job of building her up tobe this like who is it going to
be? What? What's she goingto be? Like? What? Like
we've got us, you know whatI mean? And the whole idea where
she used to be the leader, which we'll get into later when we meet
her. But there's just a lotof cool stuff to unpack with that,

(01:01:36):
And yeah, I would have givenit five stars if the battle was better
as far as like the monster's attack, but I almost gave it five because
of Sailor Moon being like so independentlater, but I was like, ah,
I can't do extra credit, allright, Sailor says, surprised everybody

(01:01:59):
today who'd have thought he had superheroinside him? That's why it's important not
to judge people by how they lookat what they wear, but what you
personally know about them, and don'tbe swayed by some stupid prejudice you've always
heard and never really questioned. Everyoneis a unique individual, right, you

(01:02:19):
never know what's inside. Then again, this week is about prejudice, which
interesting that that's kind of how weopened the show, and it's basically saying,
first they kind of throw Melvin someroses, like who would have thought
he had a superhero inside him?And then they used that to say,
that's why it's important not to judgea book by its cover. Basically is

(01:02:44):
the message of this one. Don'tbe prejudice. And I think in the
nineties this is like what The messagewas, and this is what a lot
of millennials grew up on, andit's more specifically, the message was like
don't see color. Don't if youmeet someone of color or of an other

(01:03:05):
ethnicity, you're supposed to judge themcompletely based on your interaction with them,
you know what I mean, likegood or bad. It's not supposed to
be like anything else. Does thatmake sense, Yeah, like the same
way you would anybody else like,And there was this huge push for that.
We have to remember this was thetime period where we got like,
you're probably too young for this, but Crayola did this like the skin Tone

(01:03:30):
palette of Crayons, where it wasjust like all of these different shades,
and that was a really big dealat the time because up until then it
was like, you know how bandaids were just like white people colored,
you know what I mean. Yeah, So that whole thing was going on,
and I think that this Sailor sayskind of highlights the overall message of

(01:03:51):
that time, which was literally like, if I had to sum it up,
it felt like, we know wefucked up, but we're trying to
make it better. Yeah, here'sto hoping the kids are are less terrible
than we were, pretty much, and we're going to put as much of
this messaging in their media as possiblewhen they're young. Like, that's kind

(01:04:12):
of what I get from it,right, I'm gonna let you talk on
it a little bit. What isyour experience like about this subject, I
guess. And when you were growingup in the media you saw what kind
of messages did you see? Um, I don't like, I never really
uh, I don't know when Iwas when I was younger, I never

(01:04:33):
really encountered detail or very clear representationof like racism and practice in media.
One of my favorite movies as akid were the Rush Hour movies h and

(01:04:57):
also um, I was shown Trouble, The Big Trouble and Little China when
I was pretty young too. Andand the fact too that like one of
my aunts is Japanese and then mycousin is Japanese American. Yeah, I
just I don't know. I didn'treally experience anything like that until I got

(01:05:23):
into my teenage years. It becauseyou were born in what year again,
seven, So by the time youwere really paying attention to that stuff,
it would have been what you think, like two thousand and seven almost maybe
a little earlier. Yeah, yeah, by that point, it was a
really different landscape. When I wasa kid, I used to watch a

(01:05:46):
lot of PBS Public broadcast television Forpeople who don't know, it's like the
free channel that we had here thatanyone could get with Bunny Ears, which
by the okay, Bunny Ears arethe satellite Yeah, the metal sticks that
go on the old tube TVs thatessentially it's like a radio for TV.
You guys, get it, googleit anyway. And on that channel,

(01:06:10):
it was like reading Rainbow Bill andI the Science Guy, the Magic School
Bus, Wishbone, if anyone remembersthat, which was literally a show about
a dog that taught you history aboutthe world. It was like a world
history dog shows the Greatest and likeall of those shows were literally like oh
and then of course mister Rogers hello. All of this stuff was so packed

(01:06:32):
with this message of like, youcannot judge people for their race. This
is not okay, Like we haveto be equal blood like and and it
was an important thing that they didthat. You know, it's interesting because
today it's like, I don't knowif we're in a better place or not.
I'm not a person of color,so I couldn't tell you, you

(01:06:54):
know what I mean. Yeah, that's a question for someone who's lived that
experience. But I would like tobelieve that that messaging had some type of
impact at least, even if it'snot been like perfect, you know what
I'm saying, because I definitely tookit to heart, and I'm sure a
lot of other kids did too,you know, I don't know, and

(01:07:16):
also being a teacher, like I'msorry, but most kids are just not
prejudiced inherently, like they couldn't careless what their friends skin looks like.
Frankly, like that stuff is putinto kids from you know, the environment
for the most part. But yeah, anyway, it's it's kind of a
very heavy Sailor says, Actually, don't you think? Yeah, that's that's

(01:07:38):
nice. I'm I'm impressed with themfor going from like, remember what it
was, we had like a reallyterrible one not long ago, and then
they made a huge pivot here andthey were like, here's a really important
thing. Everybody. I'm so yeah, I don't know, I kind of
I have to applaud them on that. What do you guys think? Sound

(01:07:59):
up in the comment? Do youlike this? Sailor says, do you
think it has a good mess Well, obviously, I hope you think it
has a good message, But doyou think it was effective? I don't
know. And yeah, let usknow what your frame of reference was too,
and what kind of messaging you hadin your television shows as a kid,
like from all different age groups.I'd love to hear from someone who
grew up on eighties TV, inthe seventies, whatever, because I think

(01:08:25):
if we don't share those stories,it's easy for them to kind of get
mixed up or erased as we werementioning in the beginning or whatever. So
yeah, that's it for this episode. Is there anything else you want to
add about it? About the episode? Yeah, I don't. I think
that's it. I really enjoyed thisone, yea, yea. And this

(01:08:49):
closes out that VHS tape I wastelling you about. Yeah, so this
was just a set of four reallystrong episodes. Yeah, it's it's weird
because we're a week ahead, soI'm gonna go edit the cat one and
then might be thinking about this allweek. But yeah, I we're getting

(01:09:11):
into like the meaty part of theseason two, do you know what I
mean? Right? Yeah, wherethere's like a lot of plot going on,
so I'm excited for this. That'sit for this episode. Do you
want to let anybody know other thanthe interviews you have coming up? Is
there anything else you want to talkabout? No? Not not. Yeah.
I mean I still don't know whomy three hundred person will be,
but um put it out into theuniverse. If you could pick a dream

(01:09:34):
interview for your three hundred, wellsomething that would be like realistic. Maybe
I don't know. Well, Iguess I think yeah, because I mean
they already agreed. Um. Oneone pretty big va named Greg Ares,

(01:09:58):
who uh he's gay as well.Actually, um, he he might be
my three hundred. That depends ontiming. But we we talked recently and
he's uh, he's he's he's aTexas voice actor. So anybody's known for

(01:10:21):
um one of the Twins and oron host Club and uh oh Dan Angel,
Um, I've heard that. Well, yeah, a dead Man Wonderland,
Um Evan he's Devan Gilly and um, a lot of a lot of
a lot of stuff you said,Dan Angel, And I just had like

(01:10:43):
a sense memory flashback to standing inSuncoast at the mall and like browsing through
all of the VHS's and that wasone where, like I remember, the
box art always caught my attention andI always thought about getting it, and
then I think eventually I maybe gotone, and then I tried to watch
and I was like, this isvery confusing. Yeah, but I just
really remember Dean Angel being like abig thing at the same time as Sailor

(01:11:08):
Moon for like a short burst.Yeah, because I guess it would have
been around the same time, thatsort of around the same time that the
later seasons of Sailor Moon were prevalentin the US. So yeah. Also,
before I forget, we have amystery to solve, So we're going
to be Scooby Doo about this andinvolve the fans. But I am going

(01:11:29):
to post some photos. I thoughtI had lost the incredibly rare holographic poster
that I got from Suncoast way backin the nineties because it had gotten messed
up over the years and like, you know, some tears in the corners
or whatever, and then I thoughtin a move it just disappeared. And
I went on this like hunt toreplace it recently and actually was able to

(01:11:50):
find one, and I got itand it was like it came and it
looked so beautiful and it was soperfect and whatever, and I put it
in the frame when I put iton my wall. And then I was
cleaning my garage to do that garagesale I told you about, and I
found the poster, the original poster. Here's the mystery. The poster that
I got is not identical, butis very similar to the one from the

(01:12:13):
nineties, and all of the photosthat I can find on the internet reference
the way that the poster I gotrecently looks, not the way that the
one that I actually purchased in thenineties looks from Suncoast. Oh, this
is where I'm confused. Is theresomeone doing incredibly high quality reprints of this

(01:12:36):
poster and only like posting it onceevery eight years? Is it that there
were two versions of the poster?I don't know what it is. Did
I used to live in a differentdimension and then we swapped. I'm just
saying, you know, the Mendalaeffect or whatever. Maybe this is proof
of that. I'm mostly joking aboutthat, but anyway, but it's really

(01:12:59):
fucking weird because it's like the holographicpattern is different, and then the way
I figured out was that the colorson my old one are brighter, and
then the placement of the Sailor Moonlogo is on the different side of her
foot, and everything else is likethe same. And I saw like notable

(01:13:20):
Sailor Moon collectors posting what I thinkis a reprint because I know where I
got my original, you know,I walked into the store and bought it.
But yeah, it's it's one ofthose things where it's like that.
And then the weird Sailor Moon VHScover that was released on nine to eleven
that mysteriously changed, you know whatI'm saying. That's like, anyway,

(01:13:43):
there's some weird mysteries going on withthe history of Sailor Moon merch that I
hope we can come to the bottomof by the conclusion of the show.
So I'm going to post pictures onsocials of that stuff. Guys, take
a look at it and let meknow what you think. And I'm gonna
make them like, I'm gonna showas much of these details that I'm talking
about as possible, so maybe we'llfind an answer. Yeah, do you

(01:14:09):
have any mysteries like that in anyof your fandoms? And otherwise um hmm,
probably, I just can't. Ican't think of anything like that right
now. The nine to eleven VHSone is the most bizarre to me.
Yeah, and then the other onewhere it was like on Amazon they had

(01:14:34):
like reversed the cover art but hadthe correct cover title on the images for
two of the Super s volumes andit's still like that today and then when
you buy it, it's like youget the different cover. It's so weird
and I'm just like, why isit like that? And who who made
that mistake? And how did ithappen because it's not correct. I don't
know anyway. Yeah, we wavedin the show. So that's it for

(01:14:58):
this week. Um, I willsee you next Friday. Right, we're
not doing anything between yep, yeah, because it's wait, oh next Friday,
we're recording the special, aren't we. Yeah? Okay, that's it
