Welcome, Jody, How are you hi?
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Doing well? Thanks?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Good good? First of all, congratulations on being in the
twenty twenty five Scores a stablished category for a Client
of the Year and you were a winner.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
How was that experience?
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I was really surprised.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
I have to say that my work with SCORE has
I feel as though it's been a journey and a struggle.
So I'm super grateful for my work with Peter King,
who's my mentor.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
So I was a little surprised to think I could
win something.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Did you attend?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I did? Yeah, So it was it was lovely, It
was well done.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Very good, very good. Well, why don't you tell us
about your business? How did it begin? And just kind
of fill us in.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
So my business began, Actually it was funny.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
It was my own life crisis and dissatisfaction with a
lot of things. So I got a divorce and I
quit a job all in the same week, and nothing
spurs changed like crisis. So I got to redesign life,
if you will. And I started really with a vision
of what I would want to get if I was
a patient. I wasn't necessarly happy with what I was
(02:01):
doing as a provider in traditional medicine.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Because I didn't feel that it had just basic things.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
And I started with a laptop and a cell phone,
and I rented a room for seventy five dollars a
day from a chiropractor who's a good friend, So that
was the beginning, and funny enough it's worked. I wasn't
alone in what I wanted.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
In care very good. So why did you connect with
Score to get a mentor?
Speaker 4 (02:27):
I found that I had Actually I had tried different
I had tried a different coaching platform and I paid
a lot for it and I wasn't making anything. So
it was a major event for me and I had
missed Actually early on, I missed things as simple as
knowing I needed to do quarterly taxes.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Who knew quarterly taxes? Totally missed it.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
So when I realized I needed like most basic on business,
a friend that had said why don't you think about it?
And when I reached out to Score, it was It
was a good connection and Peter was lovely. I think
everything from giving me guidelines on how did you bookkeeping?
To giving me accounting pointners and connections.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Was how long have you worked with score?
Speaker 3 (03:13):
M I wouldn't say.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
I've been with Peter over three years now, so it's
been a minute, and it's it's been a real growth process.
I think that each time I feel like I take
a layer off the onion.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
It's been growing.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
And are you still using Score? At this point in
your business.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
I am, and and actually it's been really helpful to
help me curb things that I have as ideas I
know that you know, dealing with things like renting a
space or how do you grow or what are the
next steps so that we can do it and survive
because I think as a small business, whenever you make
a step in growth, it's such a vulnerability. He's been
really it's been really helpful to have someone to bounce
(03:52):
ideas off as we're, you know, as you start to
branch out a little.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
He's been priceless.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
What's been your biggest challenge you've had to focus in
your business?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
I would say biggest challenges for me, it has been one,
I think the bureaucratic process of being a healthcare provider,
so there's a lot of eyes to tease the cross
and make sure that everything is up to code. But
it's been knowing how to effectively document things the bookkeeping piece. Clinically,
I felt feel like I'm reasonably well versed when we
(04:24):
got into how do you run a business? And everything
from how do you choose your pricing? To how do
you document where you're getting your best revenue or understand, gosh,
what is the collection on breaking it down to price
per minute and how do you bill effectively? That's been
eye opening.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
You know, I want to go back a little bit
and find out a little bit more about your business.
I understand that it's in the wellness feel but what
kind of things do you provide?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
I would say we are functional medicine, and I would
explain functional medicine as we function. Functional is focusing on
the physiology, where traditional Western medicine focuses on pharmacology.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
So when you go to a.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Traditional physician, or if I'm treating it in a traditional way,
you come in, I write you your prescription and you're
on your way. When we work on this in functional medicine,
which is what we do, we're going to address much
more physiology. So optimizing your hormones. You don't have to
be in menopause or have no testosterone to find things
that I might feel a little better if, you know,
(05:30):
looking at a thyroid on an individual level, So optimizing
things like thyroid, looking at mitochondrial health, which is your
energy center, and being able to kind of push that,
making sure that we're looking at a lot of labs
that aren't drawn traditionally are typically, but it's really hard
to drive your car if you never look at the dashboard.
So we'll make sure that you know your vitamin D
(05:51):
isn't just normal, it's optimal. And we know that when
you have an optimal level, well, we reduce your risk
of cancer. We know that we're going to you know,
we're going to reduce your inflammation. You might just a
little happier. So addressing the things from a physiologic perspective,
you know, if you come in with Moore's depression or
sadness or malays, well maybe we actually.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Look at a neurotransmitter profile.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Is it are you anxious because you don't have enough
serotonin or are you anxious because you have too much cortisol,
too much stress hormone, Well that would be they would
be addressed in different ways, and we can do we
can address all of those without a medication, very effectively.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Very good, very interesting. So tell me a little bit
about how you worked with your score mentor did you
have like regular meetings, did you set goals? Tell me
a little bit about that.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
So my work with Peter would be meet we would
meet on a regular basis. Initially, was you know, a
few times a month and then once a month, and
it's been somewhat random depending on what my needs were.
But he would do check ins and we kind of
got assignments. So beginning like even getting into quick books
and how things are classified or how you break things down.
That has been my biggest hurdle and standing and what's
(07:01):
coming in and what's going out and it.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Doesn't it doesn't always match.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
So he would give me assignments and then I would
show my improvement and then he would go over it
again and be like close, but not quite. Let's do
this again. So we would go back and forth on one.
I would bring questions things that I'm dealing with, whether
it be subcontractors versus employees versus what is the best
(07:26):
way to even structure location, you know, And he was
kind of a dad for rent if you will, he
would give me, just give me, give me some pointers
and some advice on my questions and look over what
I was doing and what needed to be improved to
be effective.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
So what's next for advanced integrated wellness?
Speaker 4 (07:46):
You know, we have a few pieces that we're tying together.
One is we've connected with doing energy work. So for
folks if you get into more saying theoric, but there's
a German machine that's been for over forty years with
great results on more difficult cases that aren't completely clear.
So we've partnered with functional Healing to do what's called
(08:09):
fair A wellness and it's an energetic intervention and we
see interesting results.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
So that's one piece, and I think that.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Moving forward we're going to be doing more wellness cosmetic
skin care. My background's dermatology, and you know, I kind
of jumped ship on dermatology to do it from the
inside out, which will we be goet good results?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
But I think that we're.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Going to be tying in more cosmetic intervention, so looking
to have a esthetician that does you know, gentle natural
skin care and pulling that in more. I don't think
people realize that your skin is your largest organ and
microplastics and those things are getting more pressed these days.
But if as sunscreen is killing the reefs, would you
want to put that on your baby? You know, those
(08:50):
are the factors that were not clearly presented healthy options.
So I think that as we're growing and as we're
doing you know, more things, I think that's a peace
that people need as a resource, so hopefully we'll meet
that need.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
So if I wanted to use your services, where would
I find you? And tell us your website if you
have one address, phone number, whatever you would like.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
So we're Lowcated, not far from ken Wood Moth, you know, Cincinnati,
So we're on Hostprook Road. Our web address is adv
Wellness dot org and with that you can go on
and schedule an appointment. We're restructuring and there's a little
bit of a waiting list, but we do IV therapies
and we do other you know, functional processes that don't
necessarily need an appointment with the provider, but you can
(09:37):
schedule online. You can also call the office and it's
five one three six one four four three zero one and.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Happy to reach out or to help. We do.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
We do a pretty broad scope as far as treating
the whole person. We treat from children to I don't know,
whole lifespan.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
