Hello everyone, and welcome inside the Seals Center to it's
exhibition October basketball. As in North Dakota State Bison returning
our home floor for the first time this season and
they host a cross town opponent, the MSUM Dragons.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Good to have you along with us.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Welcome to our court side broadcast position along with the
former Bison dexter Warner. I'm Sam Niederman. I hope you've
had a good week so far, partner. Great to see you.
It's been seven months since we've had some Byson basketball together.
We're back like we're never left.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I know, it's good to be back.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
It doesn't seem like basketball seasons here already, but it's
almost November and it's time to roll.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
So I'm excited for some hoops first, or excuse me.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
The second of two exhibitions for the Bison in this
preseason last week, NDSU traveled to Minnesota and took on
the Gophers in the earliest game and program history.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
It was an eighty to fifty four loss.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
We'll talk with Dave Richmond about it coming up in
a little bit, but he said it was weird because
you're playing it like it's an actual game in a way,
but then part of it you're trying to develop your squad,
get some different combinations and different guys out on the floor.
What is it like for you, Dexon as a player
when you play these preseason games, you've still got about
a week and a half before you actually tea things off.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
Yeah, you know, especially like you said, Sam, with how
early that game was out in Minnesota. I mean Yes, obviously,
naturally you want to get competitive and tee it up,
but at the same time you're kind of still polishing
some things up. And we talked about it too with
the coaches. The coaches are going to throw some different
lineups out there that you might not typically see, just
you know, keep seeing what you got with this team,
(02:37):
especially in this new era of you know, the transfer
portal and everything. You got a lot of guys that's
their first time on a court in a Bison jersey.
You're gonna see some different combos. So, yes, these games
are important, but for that exact reason, you gotta try
some stuff out and kind of work out a few
more kinks before you head into the regular season.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Well, the Bison come into tonight with a very new team.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
We talked about it last week at minnesot To Nine
new players for the Bison, five returners from a year ago,
Andy Stefano Witz, Noah Federson, Tomorrow Wheeler, Thomas Carson Smith
and Trace and Anderson. You've got all these new guys, Decks,
what's the key in developing chemistry and cohesion in today's
(03:18):
college basketball, especially in an exhibition like this.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Yeah, just keep getting reps. You know, and that's why
that could probably be a contributing factor. I was telling
me the other day when we talked on the phone.
You know, it's it's been a long time since NDSU
played two exhibition games.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I think.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
I think the last time was my potentially my junior
or senior year of college. That's been you know, eight years.
And the reason they do that is with that new
rule where you're allowed to do like a private scrimmage,
you get some stuff out. But I think when you
have this many new guys, like I said, I mean,
it's all about reps and a lot of it too.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
The big thing is going to be on those returning guys.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
The Noah Federson's, the Damari Thomas is in the excuse me,
the Andy stefano Witz is the world.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Those guys that have been here.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
That's where you know, if you can get some leadership
out of those guys early, that's what can shorten that
time gap for guys getting comfortable and this team starting
to gell a little bit.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Yeah, the Bison were able to work some different combinations
last Thursday against Minnesota. We saw one of the newcomers
lead the way in scoring for an DSU tray Beon
Carson fourteen points on the game on six of nine shooting.
He was a former junior College All American at Des
Moines Area Community College. Excited to see that first performance
(04:30):
from him, and we'll see how he builds off of
it tonight here.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Dix.
Speaker 6 (04:34):
Yeah, I'm excited to see a lot of these guys play.
You know, I was kind of laughing with this. I
was talking to some people yesterday and they were like,
how did the Bison look this year? And my answer is,
I'm like, I have no idea, right, Like, you know,
we got nine new guys and so that's really but
it's exciting, right getting some new guys in here. There's
gonna be some new energy in this building. And I
hope that the fans are excited for it too, because
(04:55):
you know, you and I have talked about you watching
these guys practice, this looks like an athletic Bison team.
We got some big dudes out there. We looked apart.
So I'm excited to see him put into action tonight.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
So more length on the perimeter and the wing for
the Bison. They bring in the likes of Marquis Strickland.
He had nine points against Minnesota last Thursday. Six foot
six wing who transfers in from Western Michigan second team
all preseason in the Summit League, Tay Smith six foot
two at shooting guard, Riley Massey six foot three as
(05:25):
a true freshman at guard Treyvion Carson, who we mentioned
earlier as well at six foot three. Also saw a
couple of Bison who red shirted last year, one of
them a true freshman last season in Carson Smith.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
TAMARIW.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Wheeler Thomas, who's played sixty four games in a Bison uniform.
He didn't play all of last year, red shirting while
recovering from his nagging leg injury.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
He got back out on the on the floor last Thursday.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
And those are a couple of veterans who have are
not even veterans in Carson Smith's case, but guys who
have been in the program. They kind of have a
chance to unleash it here in this twenty five to
twenty sixth season.
Speaker 6 (06:03):
Yeah, you know, especially looking at a guy like Damari,
I was just having the thought that it was nice
to see him running out here.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
He's leading the team out of the tunnel. Compared to
all last season.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
The team runs out and then here comes to Mari
and his you know street clause at the end, and
so great young man. I'm sure he's really excited to
get out there and play. And that's something that Indianes
you should be excited about too, because that's a great player,
a great leader. He's putting a lot of work with
this team, and he's going to be back out there tonight.
He had seven points last Thursday night at Minnesota. We'll
see what he does back inside the Seals Center. It's
(06:34):
NDSU against Minnesota State Morehead, both teams out of the
locker room and now warming up on the floor. It's
the second time in as many years that the Bison
have squared off with the Dragons, and an exhibition last
year a year ago to the day, October the twenty third,
twenty twenty four. The Bison beat the Dragons sixty seven
(06:54):
to sixty three, and DSU actually trailed in the game
by as many as fourteen to the first half. We're
down by seven, was seven minutes to play, and then
pulled off the victory sixty seven to sixty three. The
Dragons are coached by Jason Kemp, first year for him
as the head coach, and he's a former Bison assistant.
(07:15):
Was a GA here thanks to Dave Richmond, the Bison
head coach, who referred him for the position and was
an assistant from five to thirteen. Dexter, you were a
player while he was on staff, and now he'll be
on the opposite sideline coach of the Dragons and his
head coaching debut.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, you know, really exciting to have coach Kemp back
in town.
Speaker 6 (07:35):
Obviously not necessarily associated with NDSU, but still he's a
guy that same thing.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
He's well known in this community. Great coach.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
I really enjoyed playing for him, so I'm happy to
see him stepping into the head coach role and I'm
sure he'll do some good things.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
With this program.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Expecting a really good crowd for these two local teams
to square off for some October basketball. It's NDSU against MSUM.
The crowd starting to file in. You can feel the
energy back inside the Shields Center once again. We're expecting

exhibition matchup. Chatting with head coach Dave Richmond before our
first one at home this season, Coach, Great to see
you and welcome back to Fargo.
Speaker 11 (11:32):
Yeah, it's great to be seeing Great to be back
in Fargo, and you know, to be here in the
shack in the Shields a Shield Center here to this evening,
it's I just smile.
Speaker 12 (11:41):
It's just crazy, Sam, you know, I mean, it just
feels like it never ends.
Speaker 11 (11:45):
It feels like it just ended and then you're starting
over again, which makes it feel like it never ends too.
But as you've heard me talk on many platforms, I'm
very excited about this group and certainly wasn't the result
we wanted last Thursday, but very beneficial for us in
so many ways and shapes and forms, and you know,
excited for this another opportunity here tonight.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Well, last Thursday, the first exhibition of the year at Minnesota.
You've had a week to take a look at the film.
What stood out?
Speaker 11 (12:11):
Yeah, I think the biggest thing was is, you know,
your ego is hit right, you lose a game. And
I'm talking specifically to me, but we didn't approach that
like a normal game. We approached that with the mindset
that you know, twelve guys had really showed us something
in practice, and we wanted to continue to evaluate them
in different circumstances, obviously under the lights.
Speaker 12 (12:29):
And you know, there was plenty of good.
Speaker 11 (12:33):
There was plenty of areas that we needed to improve on,
you know, but overall, a really good benchmark to start.
I thought the way we competed for the better part
of you know, thirty minutes or so, it's right there.
Do you handle things differently in a normal game. Yeah,
probably Tyson gets going to call the time out, your
rotation is probably a little bit tighter, and things like that.
But all in all, just a tremendous opportunity for us,
(12:55):
you know, early on, to get some underlight exposure against
obviously a very high quality, you know, Big ten opponent,
and certainly definitely plenty of things for us to build on.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Oh one of those things might be Trevion Carson's individual
performance fourteen points. Coach, how did you like the way
that he came out in his first under the lights
opportunity as a Bison?
Speaker 11 (13:17):
Yeah, I loved it, you know, Trevion, Like you said,
of many many platforms, Travion's a winner. In part of
him being a winner at North Dakota State is being assertive,
and I think so many times assertive is being confused
with the number of shots you take, and that's not
the case. I just I was absolutely, you know, just
love the way he played the other night. He was
on the attack, the rip catches and getting downhill and
(13:39):
you know, he made some shots as well, which which
was encouraging.
Speaker 12 (13:43):
But also to like, he's got the.
Speaker 11 (13:44):
Ability to be a high level two way player, to
be a great defender, to be you know, assertive on
the offensive end. He got in some foul trouble. You know,
we've got to clean those things up. But I'm not
going to be high behind it at Travion from the
very start of the summer and some of our workouts
and how he's been named now able to push through
some things. This is a talented young man that we're
very excited about. He's got a bright future.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
What did you think, coach, of just the cohesiveness of
the team in a game situation against another opponent for
the first time seeing.
Speaker 12 (14:13):
It, Yeah, I thought it was very good. I really did.
Speaker 11 (14:15):
I just like I've said, like, I love this group
and they have their own cohesiveness off the court, and
I think that really shows its head, shows its face
on the court as well, and you can see that
there is there wasn't a whole bunch of selfish basketball
out there. There was ball movement, There was things like
that extra passes, and I think there's opportunities for even
more of those things.
Speaker 12 (14:36):
What happened in is certainly credit Minnesota. They kind of
ramped up some pressure.
Speaker 11 (14:40):
But what we've got to be able to do is
bottle how we started that game that first fourteen fifteen
minutes or so, and keep playing like that. Even when
a team punches back and the circumstances change a little bit,
you get a little bit tired. The rotations are a
little bit different. You can't change the way you play.
And that's just about the habits and routines that we're
trying to instill into our guys every day.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Well, another opportunity to do so here tonight against M
s u M. Another local exhibition. It's Red River Hoops
for charity. What's it meaning, coach, to to have this
game for the community and to have it here at home.
Speaker 11 (15:11):
Yeah, both these both these games, you know, against Minnesota
last Thursday and against Morehead here tonight are great because
there is such a local flavor. We were able to
to host and engage some alums and basketball alums and
just Buyson alums and uh and in the Twin Cities.
And then now to be home, to be you know,
to where we bleed, where we sweat, where we cry,
you know all the things. It's it's great and this
(15:33):
night is really special for a lot of reasons. You know,
Gg's Playhouse is a big part of who we are.
We've got guys like Burke Nelson and Jake Peters around
our program that you know, are that that have DOWN
syndrome and Gg's Playhouse, you know, specifically caters and supports
and and creates different activities for families and in young
(15:54):
men young women with downs. And so for us to
be a part of that impactful program that that's great,
and then to do it against a very good program
and MSU Morehead now led by a great friend of mine,
Jason Kemp. You know, a lot of things going on,
but as you know, it's also there's also a game
out there, and you know, we need to be ready
to set our job and be the right guys for
(16:14):
those forty minutes.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
You mentioned your relationship with coach Kemp used to be
a part of our Bison program. Have there been any
friendly banter between the two of you guys this week.
Speaker 11 (16:24):
No, you know, honestly, there hasn't been. There's been many
of conversations. We both understand it's an exhibition. We also
both understand that we love winning more than we than
we like to lose, and so you know, I'm really
excited for Jason, you know, he's worked his butt off,
He's bounced around quite a bit, and him and Micheale
and are just wonderful people. They've got a beautiful family,
and it's time for him to lead a program and
(16:47):
he's going to do a great job. And this will
be his first test tonight. This will be, you know,
in a lot of ways, another test for us early
on for the twenty five twenty six season.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Here, do you remember that first game as a head
coach or you've been an assistant for a while and
then now you're in the head chair and you let
it fly.
Speaker 11 (17:02):
Yeah, thanks for that reminder too. It was it was
that Texas and uh, you know that that one. That
one stung a little bit. A couple of nights later
at Iowa, that one's stung.
Speaker 12 (17:10):
Too, a little bit. But you grow, you learn, and
you embrace it all. And Jason's going to do a
terrific job.
Speaker 11 (17:17):
He's got the right he's got the right acuum, he's
he's got the right pedigree, he's got the right resume
to to build his own imprint and and you know,
more heads had their success and there's no doubt in
my mind Jason's going to have success. Does it look
the exact same as it does more likely not, but
it's still morehead high expectations for their basketball program. And uh,
(17:39):
that's a place that I know Jason wants to be
at tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Wheeler Thomas the first time that we got him out
there in a Bison uniform and over a year, coach,
what did you see at Minnesota?
Speaker 12 (17:48):
I saw a big smile on my face, you know,
when I went back. It's certainly nice. He's such a
wonderful competitor.
Speaker 11 (17:53):
He's done so many things in the last year and
a half that you really don't see from a leadership standpoint,
and trying to gelve guys and bring guys along and
do some of those things. We had a nice little
moment when he came off the first time. He's like, wow,
that felt weird or you know, and and there I
just think, like you go back to Thursday, there's Don
Clay and Riley Massey had never played college basketball before,
(18:13):
Carson Smith and Redshort had never really played, and you know,
and Domori had never played. So there was just a
lot of new But Tomorrow just brings so many things
to this team on and off the court.
Speaker 12 (18:23):
Most importantly, just a dynamic athlete, dynamic competitor, and done
a lot of winning.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
You go back, it's been you know, a couple of
years since we've been where we wanted to be at
the end of the year. Well, it's also been really
a couple of years since, you know, we've had that
version of Damari out there too. So hopefully there's a
correlation with our successes and getting him back on the court.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
What other things are you emphasizing tonight, coach in the
last exhibition of the year.
Speaker 11 (18:45):
Well, I mean, I just think it's about us continuing
to get comfortable. There's there's so many new faces, there's
new rotations, there's guys learning a bunch of different things.
I think the other big thing is is I didn't
love how we rebounded the basketball. You know that that
has always been a staple of Bison basketball, and we've
done that to an elite level, and we didn't do
it as well last year. We didn't do it to
(19:06):
the level we needed to Thursday, and we need to
be better at that. We need to be better offensive, rebounding,
creating extra possessions, extra extra opportunities, I should say for ourselves,
and we need to be better at finishing possessions, not
letting the opponent get offense rebounds. A great defensive teams
are they finished possessions, So we got to be better
at that.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
Looking forward to seeing it back here on the Shock
Coach always appreciate it.
Speaker 12 (19:26):

Go Bison, Welcome back to the Seals Center here in Fargo.
It's exhibition basketball tonight. As a North Dakota State Bison,
Welcome in the Minnesota State University Morehead Track. It's glad
(25:40):
that you're with us. Sam Niederman and dexter Ward our
court side. MSUM is back on the floor warming up
to our right. The Bison will be out in just
a moment. As a pet band. Roarson should be a
good crowd tonight, expecting over two thousand inside the shack
for this local exhibition. Let's do our first Keys to
the Game of Year, Partner, what are you looking at tonight?
Speaker 6 (26:02):
Well, the first of many, Sam right defensively, is just
clean up possessions and you know, not being given up
offensive rebounds. That's kind of something that we've just weirdly
seen the NDSU struggle with and at the same time,
it's a really easy way for teams to stick around
in games. We talk about a team like NBCUMD two
coming into the building.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Those guys have nothing to lose.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
So if you do your best to minimize those possessions,
clean up the first missus, that really helps put teams
away early and offensively. I still think we just got
to get these guys comfortable. That's my word for these
guys Tonight's comfortability. Keep playing together. You know, I've been
on teams where a bunch of guys graduate. In this case,
you know, guys transfer and graduate new faces. It takes
(26:42):
some time. The more reps you can get with those guys,
start to build that rapport and have some fun together,
go out and compete. This team's gonna keep gelling and
they'll keep getting better. Get comfortable on offense. You know,
last year's offense Dexter was one of the best. It
was the best scoring wise in school history, eighty one
points per game, which was a single season record. We
know about the three pointers number one in the nation,
(27:03):
also a school and conference record, with three hundred and
eighty of them. How do you expect this year's group,
small sample size, but just based off of what you've
seen and practice to generate offense with their personnel. Yeah,
I mean, it's gonna be interesting to see how these
guys score because we know it will be different than
last year. And not only you know, you don't have
(27:26):
the Jakari Whites and the Javis Millers and the Jackson
Monies of the world where you can kind of give
them the ball and say, go make something happen. But
those guys also all need a lot of threes. I
don't think we'll see as many threes this year, which
is fine because we have some more athleticism and so
it's gonna be interesting to see how do we get
those buckets. But not only that's kind of gonna be
one of the big question marks coming into this season
(27:47):
is exactly what we just talked about. If we get
down and we're like we need to score right here,
who is gonna be that guy that can kind of
go create their going shot and make some buckets when
we need them. That's always a big thing that helps
NACU succeed, and they're gonna have to figure out who
that guy's is to be this year.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
We'll be looking on the defensive end of the floor
for the Bison as well. Dave Richmond and the staff
they made some tweaks defensively in the offseason, dexter a
more aggressive approach, trying to force some turnovers.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
And get out in transition.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Yeah, you know, I haven't been to practice too much,
so I kind of like to come in blind and
see if I can pick out what they're trying to
do right. And you know, I'll give a lot of
credit to coach Streggi and Coach Richmond. These guys do
a good job at implementing plans. Coach Stregi's a little
bit of a genius, right, I don't know how to
put it. He knows some things that just other people don't,
(28:36):
and so he's got some good game plans. He's been
a great tool for Coach Richmond and the rest.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Of his staff.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
His staff has been here for a few years now,
two together, and that's something that you kind of got
to know when you don't have staffing turnover. That could
really help kind of shorten that gap too for getting
things clicking on the offense and defense.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Yeah, continuity for the Bison staff Josh Jones in his
sixth season as an assistant. Spencer Wilker his third season
as an assistant and has been with.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
The program of few years before that.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Luke Strangy his third year cam Grier and his fourth
year as an assistant for the Bison. Dave Richmond out
on the court right now. They just got done with
their pregame handshakes. As we mentioned earlier, Jason Kemp in
his first year as Morehead's head coach, former Bison assistant
for eight years, former GA for Morehead as well. He
(29:21):
takes over for Tim Bergstrausser, who got hired into the
Summit League of the offseason, was picked up by Denver
and took basically the whole starting lineup with him as
a very new Dragons team with only six returners, and
they went to the Elite eight and Division two last year,
winning twenty five games. Should be a fun one the
Bison and the Dragons here in this Red River Hoops

(35:39):
the atmosphere. Our first one of the year at home
and the Bison hoping to show their home crowd a
good sampling before they get the regular season underway in
a week and a half.
Speaker 6 (35:49):
Yeah, you know, this is always a fun game because yes,
it's an exhibition game, but at the same time, it's
your first time stepping out on the home floor in
front of the crowd, so there's just a little bit
more enter here, right, Like the fans are excited.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Starting to get a little colder.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
You get to come inside and watch a sport instead
of you know, Indias use at home for football, but
they make some of those road trips. That's getting a
little chilly, right. I'm a big indoor sports guy. I
like my climate's controlled, and i love some basketball, so
I'm excited to get back at it.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
That's what we got tonight.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
My friend the Bison, and they're home white, so they
are popping very freshly here tonight at DSU across the
chest at Green great letters in numbers, think gold trip
as well, under armored template. Meanwhile for the Dragons, they're
in their road rats white letters in numbers, Eric Jordan template.
Our officials for tonight's exhibition, Steve Honaki, Kelly and Long
(36:40):
and Joseph Brogan, Noah Pederson and Comma. We'll jumping up
and we are underway here at Fargo with Minnesota State
Warhead winning the opening tap. They move from left to
right as you listen, Man de Mandy by the Bison
and an early steal to Maar will Erd Thomas takes
it into the front court and he goes up for
the layup two not the in favor of the Bison
(37:01):
Demory with the Steel would score and here comes MSUM
immediately with the Bison leading it by Adu. Sam Hastrider
triggers a three and splashes it. The former Bison who
set the school record for most made threes without a
miss his freshman year back in twenty twenty two. He
connects three to two Dragons Bison with it to the
(37:24):
front court left. As you listen, Noah Federson working on
Kaba down on the left block, works into the lane,
goes up and had it stripped and had it's out
of bounds. But a whistle and a foul on Coma
and that'll send Noah to the.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Free throw line and Sam. People forget too.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Sam Mostrat had a big game last year when MSUM
came into this game. Something about playing against whether it's
a former team or teammates, people that you're associated with.
Guys want to play hard. Sam Hastrat did that last year.
Gets an early one. But I'm really happy to see
Noah Fedderson aggressive early, get him a postfeed, super aggressive
getting into the hoop. That what Noah Fenderson has to
do for this team this year.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Noah Fenderson knocks down the first free and throw brought
to you by First Western Bank.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
You can bank on us.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
It's three to three now with nineteen eleven remaining in
the opening half. Noah at the line left sixty three
percent at the free throw line last season, and he
makes them both. Bison take the lead four to three.
Msun back the other way. Trayveon Carson picks up isa
Elamede in the front court. Elemen drivers to the elbow
(38:29):
left wing for Kaba, the six foot eight big man
gives it up on the left wing for Landon Hacker.
Hacker zips it on the right wing for Tyson. Garrett's
Garrett's back outside to Lemede. He splits into the lane,
stops and spins twelve foot or no good rebound my comma,
but not before a whistle he stepped out of bounds,
and it'll be a Bison stop.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
In DSU takes away with the turnover. They'll go the
other way.
Speaker 26 (38:53):
Sam.
Speaker 6 (38:53):
Even just these first couple of possessions, you can see
length for in DSU, these guys are flying around. A
couple really good rots on the help side, but these
guys look active on the defensive end.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
To start this game, Bison with the four to three
advantage eighteen to forty remaining in the first half. Here's
Damori Wheeler Thomas has passed deflected by Kama, taken to
the front court by Garrett's and he scoops it home
with the left hand good five to four and as
you m jumps back down, Tom and the Bison down
trail it. A minute and a half plus into the ballgame,
(39:24):
here's Damory out top with a headband on clears the
Noah Federson hands back to Damory, tosses to Tay Smith
out top for Noah once again left wing. Damori drives in,
has a lane right and layup good Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas.
What a nice take, that's his fourth point. It puts
the Bison back on top six to five. Here's Kama
in transition open look for three off the front of
(39:47):
the rim, no Good and the rebounds snatched down by
Noah Pederson outlet feed two Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas and the
right wing. He drives in against Elmine working on the
baseline outside for Federson. Federson holds the left hand dribble,
picks it up right wing for Wheeler Thomas back to
Trevion Carson on the right wing, lobs it in for
Feederson and.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
He got tagged on the back.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Kama whistled for the foul and will be his second
and the team second here in the early going, so
quickly two fouls on coman. Kama will go to the
bench with the two fouls. Adam Jenkins checks into the
game for him, six foot nine sophomore from Warhead, buys
(40:30):
him with eld six to five on the Coach's choice scoreboards,
seventeen to forty one, remaining of the opening half. Tomorrow
Wheelerd Thomas bounces in for Strickland and it got deflected
out of bounds off of Msum. It'll stay with the Buyson.
Tomorrow in bounding on the right baseline, bends over at
(40:50):
the waist, looks surveys finds Carson cutting baseline outside Fedderson
left wing Smith. Smith starts his dribble, picks it up
at the key left wing Strickland. Strickland driving down underneath
the basket, puts it up with the right hand no
good reybound foot four and controlled by Hacker. There come
the dragons and the Bison, letting it by one. Seventeen
twenty four remaining of the half. Hostrider open pass it up.
(41:12):
Here comes Garretts left baseline outside. Hostrider thought about the shot.
Bake now dumps it inside. It's Soren's in with the
right hand hook. No good rebound balling in the air
by Pederson, taken back by Jenkins. Here's our right wing
three on the way from LB. No good rebound taking
by Pederson. Here come the Bison from right to left.
Day Smith on the right wing outside for Carson Wheeler.
(41:33):
Thomas pulled up three no good and the rebound taken
by Hacker msum plears and here they come in transition.
Hacker stops at the elbow, tosses back to Jenkins on
the left side. Garretts had it deflected and it trickles
into the corner out of mounds off of the bison.
Last bud Light proud sponsor of INDIASU Athletics. Bud Light
(41:56):
Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy. A couple of subs
coming in from the Trayson Anderson has checked in, as
has Carson Smith. Meanwhile, for the Dragons, Dominic Gooden checks
in as does Tamaris Brown, and the Dragons will have
the inbound in front of the bison bench. Elmene the
freshman will trigger it in with the lengthy wingspan of
(42:21):
Trevion Carson stating him. He triggers it in for Brown
out on the high left side, heads it back to Elamine,
circles around into a double team. He finds Gooden. Back
to Elamine, elmin between the legs, dribble around the screen
from Jenkins. He hooks it outside Brown open left wing three,
got it Tamar's Brown knocks down the triple, the second
(42:42):
of the half of the Dragons, and they regain the
lead eight to six, sixteen twenty three.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Remaining of the half.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
Here come the Bison in the front court left Tamari
Willard Thomas over to the trace Smith. Here's Carson Smith,
no relation as they clear it out top for Trayson Anderson.
Anderson driving down on Jenkins. Anderson in the post, now
working into the lane, rolls to his left. Got it up, fake,
puts it up with the right hand no good threebound
pot pour and dugout eventually by Brown up ahead for Elemine.
(43:11):
He stops at the left ball and extended and they
get it out on the perimeter. Good In top of
the key, lost his footing, regathers his balance, clears to
Brown whips it to Garrett's slashes into the lane, jumpstop
and pass out Lemine corner. Three rattles it hole. Now
that's now three three. So the Dragons, you can hear.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Their crowd here on the road just across the river.
They lead the Byson eleven.
Speaker 6 (43:34):
To six and sen that's another thing where the comfortability
with each other comes in. Nbasu is just a hair
laid on their rotations on the backside. They're doing a
good job rotating on ball, but then they got to
rotate quicker on the help Carson Samanth contested lay up,
no good transition. Here's Garrett's zero steps in, floats it
with the left hand good Tyson garretts with the basket,
(43:56):
and all of a sudden an ain't nothing run for MSU.
The Bison trail thirteen to six fifteen oh six remaining
of the half Toamori wheeler. Thomas drives it in, puts
it up with the right bakes it in nice starting
for tomorrow. He has six and the Bison pulled back
within five thirteen to eight under fifteen remaining in the
(44:16):
opening half. Here's Brown lefty three on the way short
rebound patrolled by Anderson and here come the Bison and
the ISU from right to left. Down by five early
going here against msum left corner Smith left wing wheeler.
Thomas left the key and a handoff for tomorrow, and he.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
Got bumped on his way in crashing in driving the lane,
fall on msums Issa Elmine.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
That'll be his first and the team's third.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
And it takes us to the under sixteen media timeout
fourteen thirty seven remaining of the first half. There's a
break in the action with our score MSUN thirteen the
Bison eight. This is the Bison Sports Network from Learfield.

The Bison trail MSUN thirteen to eight on the Coaching
Choice scoreboard. Curly going decks, quick thoughts on what you've
seen first five and a half.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Minutes or so.
Speaker 6 (46:26):
I like the energy and this he's playing hard. But again,
this is where you just got to keep going and
keep getting comfortable. When guys are, you know, trying to
make a pass cutting off of each other, that's just
you gotta keep getting comfortable playing with the person next
to you and they're just a little bit of step
behind from each other on these plays.
Speaker 4 (46:42):
Bison get a basket off the inbound Trayveon Carson banks
it in off the glass in NDSU back within three
thirteen to ten fourteen twenty six remaining of the half
long passing the corner for Brown had to regather it.
They whipping around the perimeter. Here's Gooded on the left
side of the key, driving down, stepping in the lane.
Had it deflected by Anderson. Good defense by the Bison,
(47:03):
and here comes NDSU. Andy Stefanowitz has checked in. He
controls veering to his left, stops to the foul line
left wing. Carson, Carson back for Stefanowitz. Stefano Wwitz dribbling
low with the right hand and he backs out to
the right wing. Now dribbles back in underneath the basket,
shovels it off to Anderson, and they're working around the
premter for Marley, Max Marley checking in off the bench
some of the former NBA All Star Dan Marley.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
Here's Carson Smith six on the timer.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
Andy Stefanowitz fines Travie on Carson for three no good
offensive rebound. Marley underneath pitches it out for Carson Smith
left wing three no good and the rebound finally cleared
by Tamaris Brown for ms UN Dragons from left to
right with Good and at the controls. He stops on
his tippy toe, zips it in for Jenkins and he
(47:47):
is whistled from behind fow on the Bison. That'll be
the first on into AZU and the first on Max marley.
Speaker 29 (47:58):
First team.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
So Max Marley called for the fowl his first and
now Adam Jenkins at the free throw line, right sixty
percent at the foul line last year, one of six
returners for an MSUM team that went to the Division
to Elite eight, and he brooks the first free throw
on the back Guyron no good, Hey, Byson fans score
(48:22):
up to twenty six hundred dollars in tax credits. I'm
qualifying Brian Heating and cooling systems and ask about additional
rebates and financing. Find your dealer at Bryan dot com,
Bryan whatever it takes, No Good down the second free
throw for Jenkins. Rebound Bison and here comes into SU
thirteen to twenty four remaining of a half.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
We're down by three.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas stop and start move, gets underneath the basket,
Pivots kicks it out for Fedderson top of the keys
to follow it's right wing Marley. Marley dishes in the
corner for Smith, Smith outside for Fedderson. Fedderson, with the
dribble walling off defenders, moves to his left, curls down
to the baseline, backing in on Jenkins four on the
timers left goes up right, missed it strong rebound foot
(49:03):
for taken by Smith put back is good. Buzzer went
off with the shot clock, but Noah's shot hit the
rim and Carson Smith put it back in Bison within
one thirteen to twelve.
Speaker 3 (49:15):
Here's hostrider at the other end.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
He lost it now dribbling and kicking good in shot
fake shuffle long two no good and the rebound track
down by Marley for the Bison. Here comes into Su
on a six nothing run, trailing by one wheeler. Thomas drives,
kicks and the pass cofflected out of bounce by MSUF.
(49:39):
Better defense by the Bison. They've held the Dragons scoreless
for almost three minutes. Tyson Garretts will come back in
Tamaris Brown goes out for MSUs.
Speaker 6 (49:49):
Yeah, and the slight adjustment for NDSU coming out of
those huddles it's very simple, Sam, but they're rotating on
the pass instead of seeing where it goes and then
running just that half second quicker the action.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
That's a big difference on a contest. On a skip
for a catch and.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
Shoot, Andy Stefanowitz driving down to the left elbow working
on Hacker dishes it for Carson.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Spend nice fine in the feather.

He touched by Carson his fourth point, Bison lead fourteen thirteen.
At the other end, mislayup byke Gerns and here come
the Bison from.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
Right to left. Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas driving down lays it up.
Man got the role. Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas gonna finish.
Speaker 4 (50:28):
That's his eighth point and that's a ten tohing run
for NDSU sixteen thirteen good guys. Hacker whips it over
to good and good and spinning leads into a fourteen
foot or no good and the rebound taken by Stefanowitz
for the Bison under twelve remaining of the half sixteen

stops on the left wing, pulling the ball high clears
for Good and Good in driving left baseline, zips it
out wild pass, goes into the back court. It's taken
by Stefanowitz into the front court, shuffles off for Marley,

Speaker 4 (52:19):
For ANDYSU fourteen I think run by le Bison and
they lead at twenty to thirteen ten twenty remaining of

thirteen over MSUM fourteen.
Speaker 3 (54:00):
Nothing.
Speaker 6 (54:00):
Run for the good guys here decks Yes, settled in
a little bit. You kind of saw some of those
offensive jitters go away. Guys got back to their roots
with what they do offensively and defensively. I think INNDYAC
just cranked up the pressure a little bit, kind of
touched on it. Guys got comfortable they were doing a
better job rotating. Still just got to go out and
play ball, and at the end of the day, that's
what these guys are going to do. They get a
(54:21):
little bit nervous. You know, first game, you shake that off.
I think Indiasy's done a good job settling in.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Now the Bison now lead at twenty to thirteen ten
nineteen remaining in the half, MSUM called time out. First
year head coach Jason Kemp used to be a Bison assistant,
and now they work from left to right and red
Bison defend band A man in white Elle Meine at
the top of the key, driving and looping it out
for Hosstrider, a three on the way switch Sam Hostrider
(54:48):
with his second triple. The former Bison has six points
and now it's twenty to sixteen. That breaks a five
plus minutes scoreless drought for the Dragons. Andy Stefinal which
upside Tay Smith open three no good rebound. Markai Strickland
has it on the left block, pounting his way in
right hand hook good. Mark Strickland with the offensive board
(55:09):
and the second chance points.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
Bison Beck up by six twenty two to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
Here's Hacker outside for MSUN and he throws it over
on the left wing for Garrett's. Garrett's driving in pivoting
spinning left hand finished blocked to the air by Strickland,
and here come the Bison up ahead. Tay Smith driving
down the right side, he loops it outside for Carson
left wing Stefanowitz. Stefanowitz stops his dribble outside Smith deep
(55:38):
three on the way, no good rebound Bennett of the
air taking by Anderson left wing. Stefanowitz reload in the
pass got deflected by Hacker.
Speaker 3 (55:46):
Bison regained control.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Stefanowitz lobs inside for Anderson underneath the basket, puts it
up at scores trace and Anderson with his first basket
of the game. The Bison regain an eight point lead
twenty four to sixteen. There comes Msum. They throw it
away Elm looking for Jenkins of the ball rules out
of bounds. That's off of the Dragons last turnover going
(56:09):
the other way for the Bison.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
I'll tell you what's Sam. You know, missing three isn't
too bad if you can go get every.
Speaker 6 (56:14):
Single offensive rebound on the miss. So Ndac's doing a
good job getting after the boards early in this one.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
Buys it with a fifteen to seven rebounding advantage four
offensive rebounds already it's an eighteen to three run for NDSU.
It was thirteen eight msum now twenty four to sixteen
Bison Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas on the left side of the arc,
whips it over for Smith extra pass. Carson beering out
of the corner inside for Strickland down on the low block,
working on Kama, lowering the shoulder, puts it up with
(56:41):
the right hand and miss it off the back iron,
clapping his hands emphatically as he won him the three
point play opportunity. Instead, he gets found by Kaba and
he'll go to the line the shoot two. That's the
third personal on Kaba eight twenty four remaining of the half.
Speaker 3 (56:57):
And Sam.
Speaker 6 (56:57):
That's really nice to see a Marqui Strickland. He's out
there with Tracey Anderson right now, but he's the one
going down in the post. That can be a really
good tool, especially in the summer league. You don't see
a lot of teams playing two bigs at the same time.
If Marci Strickland has that ability to play the wing,
but they can also take some smaller guards down into
the post, that can be a really good tool for NDSU.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
He makes the first free throw twenty five to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (57:20):
Bison spent the last two years at Western Michigan scored
eleven points per game in the Mid American Conference last year.
Second free throw no good, bouncing a couple of times
and then Clawn out of bounds off of the Byson last,
so it goes one for two when the Byson leaded
by nine five on the floor for NDSU Tomorrow, Wheeler Thomas,
(57:41):
Treveon Carson, Tay Smith, Strickland, and Noah Federson, who's checked
back in for Trays and Anderson.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
There comes Msun with some pressure being.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
Applied to the back court by the Bias and Lamed
picked up by Carson into the front court driving with
the right hand holding on the top of the key
or a right wing for Hacker. Hacker driving down low
at his pocket, picked by Wheelard Thomas. It comes out
to Elemine on the opposite wing. He drives in, flashes
it for Garren's and a whistle for a foul blocking
foul called on tomorrow Wheelerd Thomas for the Bison. That'll
(58:11):
be Damori's first, a team's second. With atle one remaining
of the half, he first person. There are a bunch
of fouls called in Minnesota last Thursday, traping On Carson
fouled out for the Bison early in the second half.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
A little bit more of a relaxed whistle so.
Speaker 4 (58:28):
Far tonight, Elemine triggers it in for Brown, up top
for Jenkins, Jenkins working, spinning, fine hacker and a whistle
for another foul.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
I might have just Jinxon that'll go against the Bison.
Speaker 4 (58:42):
It's on Strickland, his first team's third and that'll take
us to the under eight seven fifty five remaining of
the opening half, Bison have taken control twenty five to

Wheeler Thomas driving in with a screen shot, got rejected

back to Carson. Corner of three long Now the rebound
taken by Jenkins. There comes Ellomine the freshman pulls up
three ball on the way. No good rebound taken by Fedderson,
and here come the Bison, still zero for six. Now
from downtown, Wheeler Thomas drives in, pops it out extra
pass Fedderson. Let's break the streak here, Yes, he got it,
(01:01:35):
knocks down the first three and a half from the
Bison right for the top of the key. Noah Fedderson
back to a double digit lead from the Bison. Twenty
eight eighteen. There comes to the MSUM attack into the
front courd right. Garren's driving in from the wing met
by a double team zips it out for Lemene whips
(01:01:55):
it left side.
Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
Brown. Brown drives in contestant layup, no good.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
But a whistle and called on the Bison will be
the fourteen foul on in DSU and we'll go on
train me on Carson his first zero.
Speaker 29 (01:02:10):
He's first person fourteen.
Speaker 4 (01:02:13):
So now Tamaris Brown at the free throw line right
six five senior from Chicago transfers in from IU Indianapolis
formerly i U p U I, former member of the
Summit League. Before that, spent two years at Division two
Rockhurst and missus his free throw oh for one. On
this trip, Bison will submit a couple. Carson Smith checks in,
(01:02:37):
as does Max Marley and Andy Stefano Witzkamario Wheeler, Thomas
Tay Smith and Marqui Strickland to all go.
Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
To the bench.
Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
Second one here for Brown, lefty stroke good. He goes
one for two. Twenty eight to nineteen. Noah Fenderson hit
the first three of the game for the Bison and
d s U by nine was six oh nine to
go in the half. Here's Andy Stepanowitz driving downhill, shuffles
outside Carson Smith long three off the backboard.
Speaker 10 (01:03:06):
No good.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Raybound taken by Elemede freshman point guard brings it into
the front court, driving left of the lane, stops on
a dime, kicks it out for Hacker, got his man
in the air with the shot. Bake drives into the
mid post left corner, hosstrider left wing elebin for three.
No good, blind drive miss spells out to brown reload
for the Dragon, spinning in left hand floater no good
and a whistle underneath on the fight for the rebound.
(01:03:28):
It's gonna go against the Bison. Noah Pederson called for
the foul. I beg your pardon on Carson Smith his
first teams fifth, five forty two remaining of the half.
Speaker 6 (01:03:42):
Well, Sam, that shows you a big difference too. If
it would have taken us fourteen minutes to make a
three last year, we would have been deeply concerned about
how we were putting points on the board. But indians
U is doing a really good job getting downhill in
this one, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:03:54):
Five forty remaining in the half, Bison lead it by
nine twenty eight nineteen. Hosts rider out of a double
for Jenkins outside for Hacker, shot fake three ball up
and good. That's the fit three and a half for
msun landing. Hacker knocks it down there five to eleven
from downtown. It's now twenty eight to twenty two. The
Bison leads stretch down to six. Benderson attacks the basket

for Hacker on the big court logo right wing for Brown.
Brown with the left hand dribble over for Hostrider triggers
(01:04:38):
a three high arcer off the backboard, no good, one
rebound out for Brown. Once again, Brown inside of the
foul line, zips it over for Elmede steps into a
three no good rebound foot four and grab it out
of the air by Treveon Carson, and here come the Bison.
Marlee in transition thought about the three clears for Stefanowitz
back to Marlee Marley on the left wing of the
(01:05:00):
Katee Edderson Feederson driving down against Jenkins one on one,
facing up, regathers his dribble eleven hour the shot clock,
backing into the lane up fake and then had it
knocked away by Jenkins. Bought a whistle for a foul,
and it'll go on the Dragons, big man. That's going
to be his first and the team's fifth. Well again, Sam,
(01:05:23):
I know I'm a little biased.
Speaker 6 (01:05:25):
I like seeing us get the ball inside to the
big guys and again, I you know, I know this
is really I know it's an exhibition game against the
D two, But I like seeing the aggression out of
Noah Fedderson because I do think that that's his next
step in his progression, is being able to back guys down.
He's got the size for it and the athleticism he
can go score inside and he's looking to do that
right now.
Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
It makes the first free throw thirty one to twenty
two Bison. When we talked with Dave Richmond coming into
this preseason, he said he feels like Noah Fenderson has
turned the corner thirty year on the floor for the
Bison fourth in the program. He redshirted it as a freshman.
You saw it as a freshman, You saw it as
moments last year. And can he be that big time
(01:06:06):
player every night for the Bison, That's the question. As
he goes in and out on the free throw, goes
one for two thirty one twenty two, the lead for
the Bison, nine point advantage with four seventeen remaining in
the opening half. Jenkins, spinning around, hands it off for
Gooden good In in a double team al finds Hostrider
driving into the middle of lane as pocket picked by Wheeler.
(01:06:28):
Thomas regathers outside for good in a three no good
rebound taken by Marley, and here come the Bison from
right to left. It's Carson Smith outside for Stefanowitz. Stefanowitz
circles in, backs into the lane, keeps his dribble alive,
hands on for Marlee. Marley on the left wing top
of the key, Federson right wing, Wheeler Thomas, Wheeler Thomas
around the screen back for Federson top of the key.
Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
Shot clocked down to eleven.
Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
Betterson circles in, goes out with the bounce pass rotation
Marley shot fake left wing three yes, Marley knocks down
the three good rotation by the Bison and they stretch
the lead to twelve thirty four to twenty two. Garrett's

a break in the action here on this first half

Bison season overs at a week and a half at
Oregon State November the third. Here we are in October
with this local exhibition, the Bison leading MSUN thirty four
to twenty two, back underway less than three and a
half minutes remaining in the half MSUN from left to right.
As you listen and read Bison defended White. Here's Jenkins
hands it off for good, dribbles over to his right,
(01:09:54):
finds Brown off a screen, fires a three. Yes, they
keep on hitting the threes. That is the sixth and
a half for MSUM, six out of fifteen from long range,
and they're back within nine thirty four to twenty five.
Here's NDSU right to left, Treyson Anderson right wing, Markai Strickland.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Strickland with a dribble back out Tom.
Speaker 4 (01:10:16):
For Anderson left wing, Trabon Carson driving into left baseline,
pounding the right hand, dribble up fake and puts it
up the second time.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
Got it to go Traybon.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Carson, with his fourth point, buys it back up by eleven,
thirty six to twenty five MSUM from left to right.
Gooden picked up by Stefanowitz right wing. Jenkins hands it
off for Gooden moving left, finds Hostrider right corner. Garretts
inside for Jenkins lay up on the underside of the backboard.
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
No good rebound by Strickland.
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
He voters forward into the front court, working his way
down to the right baseline, pounding it in against Brown,
rolls In.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
Puts it up. Scores mar Kai Strickland.
Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Good move pointed the game for the Western Michigan Transfer
thirty eight to twenty five Bison, their largest lead of
the game.
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
One remaining of the half. Here's Hostrader on the right wing.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Hastrader driving it on Smith backing in, Spinch puts it
up on the right hand good Sam, Hostraider the former
Bison with his eighth point. He leads MSUM in scoring
one thirty remaining of the half, thirty eight to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
Bison.
Speaker 4 (01:11:27):
Here's Andy Stefanowitz out top for Trason Anderson, Anderson left
wing for Smith, pumps it back in for Anderson, hands
it off to Stefanowitz. Fine Smith deep right side three.
Got it Jay Smith bullseye from downtown his first three
of the half, and the Bison go back up by
(01:11:48):
fourteen forty one to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Time out on the floor and is taken by Msum
and Sam. This is where good teams and grow right.
You find a way to get this thing to fourteen.
Speaker 6 (01:12:03):
Don't let a teeter there and then it's kind of
teetering back and forth around like eight to fourteen, because
then a team is stillina. You get this thing to fourteen.
That's what good mature teams do. They find a way
to push this thing to twenty. Kind of end this
game early, and then you spend the second half maintaining that.
Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Don't let MSU.
Speaker 6 (01:12:18):
I'm going to run here in this last sixty seconds
and get it back into single digits.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Find a way to finish up this half on a
good note. The Mines that have made three of their
last three from the floor.
Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
They're shooting much better than they did against Minnesota last Thursday,
fifty four percent for the floor for the Bison, three
of eleven from three they started out zero for six,
three for the last five.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
Now from downtown.
Speaker 4 (01:12:44):
And a bigger part of the time I was taken
by the Bison, so three remaining for DSU. Four remaining
for MSUM one to twelve remaining of the half forty
one to twenty seven in DSU, A little full court
pressure extended all the Bison back off as Good and
brings it up the floor, picked up by Stefanowitz in
the half court Good and holding with the right hand dribble.
He drives down to the right elbow, bounces for hostrider.
(01:13:07):
Hostrider homps in the lane in traffic and it betted
away by the Bison. Here comes Stefanowitz with the seal.
Stefanowitz into the front court, bounces down right baseline Strickland.
Strickland slashing in on Jenkins, puts it up from six
and gets the roll rim glassen in Markuiz. Strickland was
seven forty three to twenty seven Bison a ESU now
(01:13:32):
and looking to defend thirty four seconds remaining of the half,
about a twelve second difference between game and shot clock.
Here's Brown outside thirteen to shoot Hostrider on the right wing.
Hostrider picked up his dribble eight to shoot Garrett's. Garrett's
driving left, Garrett's going in, dumps it out for Jenkins,
layup good laying the shot clock that makes it forty
(01:13:54):
three to twenty nine. Twelve seconds remaining of the half.
Bison will hold for the final shot. Shot clock is
arc six seconds, five seconds. Stefanowitz with three steps back left,
eat three on the way, no.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
Good put back by Fenderson. It's a man good and
the horn.
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
Noah Fenerson crashing the glass and he sticks in home
and the buzzer as the Bison go into the halftime
locker room with a sixteen point lead, forty five and
twenty nine. Nice finish there, Dix, Andy Stefanowitz. He went
back for the three. He was no good, but Noah
(01:14:32):
crash the glass.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Yeah, you know, not a terrible look to finish off
the half.
Speaker 6 (01:14:36):
I thought maybe they should have gotten across the half
court line a little bit faster.
Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
You know.
Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
Andy came into the action. He comes across half with
six seconds. You don't have a lot of options to
go get a good look. But again, great job by
anycu Noah Fenderson there getting downhill crashing puts it back
in before the half.
Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
Bison leaded by sixteen at the break forty five twenty nine.

Bien's got the first basket of the game tomorrow, Wheler
Thomas with the ceiling layup two uping NYSU. But Sam
Hastry or the former Bison would hit a three. MSUM
took an eleven to six lead. Bison were down by five,
but then they would get on a run. Max Marley
with a three pointer good in driving left baseline, zips
(01:18:15):
it out, wild pass goes into the back court. It's
taken by Stefanowitz into the front court, shubles off for

of defense for INDSU. Bison would camp off the run
fourteen nothing run to get the lean back MSUN going
to the basket. NDSU held them scoreless for nearly five minutes.
It was back and forth with the Bison struggling from downtown.
We saw that against Minnesota, saw that at the start
of the game tonight, old for six from three point
(01:19:00):
range until Noah Fedderson had something to say about it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Here come the Bison, still zero for six. Now from downtown.
Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
Wheeler Thomas drives in, pomps it out extra pass Pederson,
let's break the streak here, Yes, he got it, knocks
down the first three and a half from the Bison,
right for the top of the key.
Speaker 3 (01:19:16):
Noah Fedderson back to a double digit lead for the Bison.
Twenty eight eighteen. Noah Federson knocks down the three.
Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Not the last thing he would do in the half
as indy as you would continue to generate offense and
stretch their lead to double digits. Three point shooting got
a little better and another one, this time from Max Marley.
Betterson circles in, goes out with the bounce pass rotation
Marley shot fake left wing three yes. Max Marley knocks
(01:19:46):
down the three, go to rotation by the Bison, and
they stretch the lead to twelve thirty four to twenty two.
Max Marley kansa three a nice shot fake to free
himself up. Bison would continue some three points shooting. Tay
Smith getting in on the party, pomps it back in
for Anderson, hands it off to Stefanowitz.
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Fine Smith deep right side three got it.
Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
Tay Smith bullseye from downtown his first three and a
half and the Bison go back up by fourteen forty
one to twenty seven. Tay Smith knocks out the three.
Bison would have finished three out of twelve from long
range to finish the half. The other miss after they
started oh six, they went three for six to close.
(01:20:31):
It came at the buzzer and then there was an
alert Bison on the other end to get one more
score before the break.
Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
Shot flock is dark.
Speaker 4 (01:20:40):
Six seconds, five seconds Stefanowitz with three steps back left,
eat three on the way, no good put back by Pederson.
It's a man good and the horn Noah Pederson crashing
the glass and he sticks in home and the buzzer.

think we're all getting warmed up. Coach Dragan just right
off to the bench.
Speaker 6 (01:27:13):
I'm kind of excited, Sam, that's so much ammunition for
us to use throughout the year. Here we're gonna be
giving him grief and he's he's gonna have an excuse,
but I can promise you he forgot and I'm really
excited to bring it up.
Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
Yeah, we will get him for the home opener. Man,
oh man, I was really looking forward to hear.
Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
It from coach.
Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
We love our halftime interviews and we'll get some thoughts,
I'm sure as we go throughout the season. But the
Bison leaded by sixteen. We talked a little bit about
the end of the half there for the Bason decks.
Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
How do they keep this? Keep this up here on
the second half.
Speaker 6 (01:27:48):
Hey, you got to come out with energy right away again,
because like we said, you know, Indiacy did a good job.
Got it to sixteen. To finish up that half. But
now what you can't have is you have a flat star.
You come out in MSUM gets it back down to ten.
You got to bring the energy right away. And that's
a huge one that Indis is going to have.
Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
The new elle.
Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
The Bison really good defensively. We talked with Dave Richman.
He said that he wanted the Bison to be better
on the glass. They did have a good rebounding advantage
twenty two rebounds compared to MSUMS sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
Noah Pederson had a really nice.
Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
Half ten points, seven rebounds, three or four from the floor,
very efficient as he had the put back at the
buzzer to extend the Bison lead to sixteen. They're largest
of the game so far. Meanwhile, the Bison six assists
compared to just two turnovers. They have three steals. We've
seen more deflections. We talked about the pregame. Didn't really
(01:28:43):
know what some of the new defensive wrinkles would look
like for the Beiser, but they were getting deflectionions and
that was leading to good.
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Things on the other end.
Speaker 6 (01:28:50):
Yeah, and that's what's interesting because you know, obviously I've
known coachers in a really long time kind of kind
of state stables himself on consistent, you know, good defense,
not playing solid, not getting too gamble, getting out of position.
But if you're gonna crank your defensive intensity up and
try to get teams split.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
Up and turn them over a little bit, you gotta
live with a little bit of that.
Speaker 6 (01:29:12):
So that's where, you know, it's kind of interesting to
see what is there give and take threshold gonna be
a little bit where you let these guys go for
it or do you want to step back and play
conservative defense. So and the team has been really agressive
getting in passing lanes, but they're not gambling, flying out
of position trying to get steals. But they're being very
active with their hands and a little bit more intensity
on that, and which is great.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
Now the Bison with a forty five to twenty nine
lead coming out of the half, let's quickly pause ten
seconds for stage identification. You're listening to Bison basketball, ready
(01:29:55):
for the start off the second half here in this
Red River Hoops exhibition forty five MSUN twenty nine. As
we get underway, but a whistle from one of our officials,
I believe an issue.
Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
With the clock.
Speaker 4 (01:30:10):
Potentially the shot clock never started the game clocked in.
Now they reset the shot clock to twenty six seconds
and the Bison will move from left to right as
you listen in white trimmed in green, Msum in red
trimmed in white.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
Man to man defense.
Speaker 4 (01:30:24):
Here's Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas left wing for Tay Smith and
the post for Noah. Pederson faces up on Cabba, working
with three fouls, goes into the block, bounces in the
paint for Strickland's ten tons shot clock. Strickland puts it
up with the right hand from eight and knocks it down.
Marcais Strickland. That's his ninth point of the game and
the Bison off to an eighteen point lead early in
(01:30:45):
the second half, forty six to twenty nine, forty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
To twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
I should say, here's a three from Cobba Caram's out
no good and the rebound taken by Carson up ahead
for Smith, back down for Wheeler Thomas, back to Smith
drives it scoops it up the right the rejection by Kaba.
There comes Msum off the big block ele Mean driving
through traffic, gets in the lane, fall fake drops it
back for Kaba puts it up and scores count it
(01:31:11):
plus a foul Tomorriw Wheeler Thomas whistled underneath in the
paint for a block, and Kamene Kaba will go to
the free throw line for the potential and one opportunity.
Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
Thomas his second first team second on tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
Wheeler Thomas first on the Bison here in this second half,
and here goes kabine Kaba to the foul line Naia
transfer from Whalon Baptist where he averaged nine points a game.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
At the foul line.
Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
Left lefty free throw good and he knocks it down
to make it a sixty point game again forty seven
thirty one that completes for thirty two, rather makes it
a fifteen point game. Jason Kemp, the Dragon's head coach
first year as their head coach. Tim berg Strausser, their
(01:32:03):
head coach last year, got hired to Denver and took
pretty much the whole team with him after they went
to the Elite eight last year and won twenty five games.
Trevion Carson will trigger it in for the Bison tomorrow.
WHELERD Thomas brings it up the floor tomorrow, working on
an eight point.
Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
First half dribbles on the high left side.
Speaker 4 (01:32:26):
Inside the arc finds Tay Smith Smit on the left wing,
pumps and bounces in for Fedderson in the left corner,
working on Kaba, working his way with a right hand
dribble and in a lane, spins to his left, puts
it up with the left banked it off. No good
rebound by Kava for MSUM. Here come the Dragons trailing
by fifteen isa Elmine, the point guard. The freshman whips
(01:32:49):
it over for Coaba, stops inside the wing outside for
Hacker and they work it in the corner. Hostrider a
three off the back iron. No good rebound by Pederson
his eighth. And here come to Bison Wheeler Thomas driving
in the lane and he gets hacked AND's a whistle
and a foul against MSUN.
Speaker 3 (01:33:07):
It'll go on, Isha Lemine his second teams first.
Speaker 6 (01:33:11):
L one, Sam, are you talking about preseason Russ. We
gotta get some emergency with these mop guys. You know,
we we had a little flip down here, we got
another guy going down. We got to crank this up
and I think that that'll come up on film for
them as well. But for damorrow, Wheeler Thomas doing a
really good job pushing in transition. We've seen it a
few times in this game, you know, not necessarily forcing
(01:33:33):
the issue, but applying pressure in the open court. Teams
don't quite have their defense set up yet. He's got
a good He's had a few good looks early in transition.
You gotta love some mop guy urgency. They go get
in there quick.
Speaker 4 (01:33:46):
Tomorrow knocks down both free throws forty nine to thirty
two in favor of the Bison on.
Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
The coaches choice scoreboard.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
Eighteen eighteen remaining in the ballgame, Elmen working on Trevion Carson.
Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
He had it deflected by Carson.
Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
Ballis lose, take it by Wheeler Thomas and he gets
collided into and there's a whistle for a foul fowl
on Msum and it'll go on Lemene again as the Bison.
You saw the length from treveon Carson. He deflected the ball.
Tomorrow came crashing in to get it. Another turnover forced
(01:34:22):
by Ndsu two minutes in the second half. We're up
by seventeen forty nine to thirty two in this exhibition.
Pederson driving in lost it, shovels it out for Smith.
Tom of l Key three bottom hey Smith with his
second downtown here fifty two to thirty two bys and
lidded by twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
Seventeen forty four remaining.
Speaker 4 (01:34:49):
And here's msum Hacker driving to the right elbow through
a wild past the garrets left wing.
Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
Lemine pops up with the right hand good Good from
six feet.
Speaker 4 (01:35:00):
Issa Elmine and eighteen point game once again, fifty two
to thirty four seventeen twenty three remaining. Here's Spenderson steps
back straight away three yes, back to back three for
the Mason Noah with this second and now the largest
lead of the game for NDSU. It's twenty one fifty
(01:35:20):
five thirty four Kama three at the other end, no
Good and the rebound ripped down by Carson. Here comes
into his U with Smith in transition starting stop move,
dribbling down to the left corner, keeps his dribble, works
an outside for Wheeler Thomas Tomorrow, Wheeler Thomas driving in
around the screen, pull up, Jumper down and out. Rebound
(01:35:40):
taken by Kama and msun will reset Byzon shunting fifty
six percent on the night, twenty two out of forty
sixteen forty remaining in the exhibition. Here's Kama lefty three
down and out, no good and the rebound taken by
Tay Smith. Here come the Bison from left to right,
t beyond Carson on the right wing, top of the key.
(01:36:02):
Fedderson attacks going down the lane, puts it up and
backs it in and one. Noah Fenderson his fifteenth point
and a rock solid take. He'll go to the line
for a three point play, potentially fifty seven thirty four.
Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
Buyson his fourth person thirteen.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
Now about the big fella tonight, getting the job done
on the glass and taking it.
Speaker 6 (01:36:32):
Strong to the hoop and Sam, that's it's good aggression.
But you know we're seeing some stuff off the dribble too,
so you know, have put it down going left end right.
He didn't do that as much last year. So if
that's the next step for him to that's gonna open
up a few more ways that he can look to
score in this offense.
Speaker 4 (01:36:48):
That was free thrown no good, but the offense rebounded
Carson outside for Tay Smith left wing, Andy Stefano, Whitz,
bysonry load. Stefano Whitz bounces back in for Federson, fumbled
it underneath and stolen away by Hostrider. Back the other
way for Msum bounces to Elemine, high pass for Hostrider.
The six to seven former Bison gives it up for
Elemine on the left wing. Sixteen in change, remaining Bison
(01:37:10):
by twenty three. Elmine sharp handles, buying the back in
between the legs, takes it on the left wing again,
steps back, skips it over for Gooden.
Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
Eleven on the shot clock.
Speaker 4 (01:37:20):
Gooden working with the left hand dribble Pesterer ad bys
to Fano with six to shoot good it inside the arc.
Nice look for Hostrider, lay up, no good and the
rebound taken by Fenderson. So final it's up ahead transition
three by Smith, no good rebound betting in the air
and then saved in the hands of Carson. They reload
Smith another three yes all over the place and take

little bit the backside guy for MSSU. Him rows up

Speaker 4 (01:47:02):
Yea, a runner by Hoss Rider, no good rebound wrestled

This is that stretch for ndsh's got to stay locked
in right now. You got it to twenty six, but
there's still thirteen minutes left in this game. They're probably
gonna see some different lineups start to fly for NDSU
here as well. But I know coach Richmond again still
wants to see these guys engaged, and you don't want
to get away from your game plan and just start
led to fly because you're up by.
Speaker 3 (01:47:46):
Almost thirty NBAS, You're still gonna have to execute for
the rest of this game.

far tonight ten points four or five? Now from the field,
(01:48:17):
five rebounds, two and he's out a line right first
free throw.
Speaker 3 (01:48:23):

Speaker 6 (01:52:37):
That's one of those plays in where Noah Fenderson gets
a piece of as well, and those two go in
the huddle and you're arguing about who gets credit for
that block.
Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
Eleven eleven remaining, and now the Dragon's reset. Hastrider on

bonus the rest of the way for msum nine twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:57:17):
Three remaining and Sam.
Speaker 6 (01:57:21):
You can see the frustration from coach Richmond on that
on that was the exact same play that they're just
laid on the backside rotation and Nysus missed that, you know,
five or six times night where Msum's gotten a roller
for a layup or an end one at the end
of the shot clock. That'll definitely be a big point
of emphasis heading into film. Jenkins bakes the free throw.
Speaker 4 (01:57:40):
Three point play is good seventy six to fifty one,
nine to twelve. Winding down here in the second half,
Smith out Tom for Anderson the left sideline for scoot

nine rebounds as well, one rebound away from the double double.
Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
And Sam another thing in the lineup that's been interesting
here in the second half.
Speaker 6 (01:59:14):
We've seen a little more Andy Stefanowitz and to Mario
Wheeler Thomas in the game at the same time. You know,
kind of your two point guards. It's interesting to see
how you can use those guys at the one and
two together.
Speaker 4 (01:59:24):
Goa down to the lane looking for a pass right
wing Stefanowitz scoota on the right sideline, top of the key.
Stefanowitz drives in into the mid post, puts it up

Speaker 3 (02:02:12):

Speaker 4 (02:02:15):
Bison have led by as many as thirty in the contest,
thirty one, I should say, and they have been led
by Noah Fenderson seventeen points.
Speaker 3 (02:02:29):
Nine rebounds.
Speaker 4 (02:02:30):
Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas wins twelve points as well, and we
pick things back up with MSUM at the free throw line.
Issa La Mede two out of four at the line
for the freshman good on the first one seventy eight
to fifty two. No good on the second one rebound
(02:02:58):
taking by Trevion Carson. Here come the bit less than
eight minutes to play. Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas, circling underneath the basket,
shovels it off for Scooter right hand layup good nice
taking feed by Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas Scuto in the finish
for his first point eighty to fifty two Byson.
Speaker 3 (02:03:16):
Seven forty remaining.
Speaker 4 (02:03:18):
Here's elemin hadn't poked away by Pederson, taking by Wheeler Thomas.
I'm ahead for Pederson, and now I had a blocker
behind my comma. The stick back by Scooter gets wedged in.
Speaker 3 (02:03:28):
On the right side.
Speaker 4 (02:03:31):
And the biason come up empty, but a foul called
on ms Um Maris Brown called for the foul.
Speaker 39 (02:03:38):
Seventeen Tobiason man now beginning the bonus to the free
throw line in North Dakota's state number eight e Meal
scoot him.
Speaker 4 (02:03:47):
So now Scooter at the free throw line buys ruined
the bonus the rest of the way. Seventeen pel On
ms Um a mule out of Finland, puts up the
first free throw, no good Biason, but shortly on the
fountl line. They're now nine to fifteen. They weren't so
hot against Minnesota either. Of the free throw line, the
(02:04:08):
Mule Scuota the transfer from Sacramento State, fifty three percent
of the line in his career, second one spinnings around
the world and no good and now they say lane
violation on MSUs So Scuota will getting.
Speaker 38 (02:04:27):
Out of the chance number one seems from the decads.
Speaker 3 (02:04:34):
That's some of those interesting ones. Sam.
Speaker 6 (02:04:35):
It's extremely frustrating as a coach because they're free, right.
You want to make your free throws. And you know,
I've been on teams that have gone on kind of
like streaks where you're not shooting the ball from the
line as a team, and you can tell it just
drives a coach crazy because you want to make them,
and going over three with a violation there for Scuota
is not ideal. And I can just tell that that's
(02:04:57):
the exact type of thing that just kind of grinds
coaches gears because you wants to see you.
Speaker 4 (02:05:00):
Guys put those in. Hey, miss is the second chance again?
Garrett's for three drains it and now it's eighty to
fifty five. Bison lead is still twenty five seven nine remaining.
Here's Scoota driving in pitches for Federson up fake and
the second one goes up in good. Noah Fenderson with
(02:05:23):
nineteen points tonight, continuing to put in good work and
the Bison leading by twenty seven again eighty two to
fifty five under seven remaining in this exhibition contest between
the Bison and the Dragons, and let me kicks it
out to common right corner, garretts.
Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
For three, no good and the rebound beatitt.
Speaker 4 (02:05:42):
In the air, hustled for by Fenderson charging on the
front court, off my head for Carson and he pounds
it down with the right hand streaming on on. Carson,
get up there, young man, and the Bison with another
transition basket time out off are any boreive adsu.
Speaker 3 (02:06:04):
Thirty second time out and we'll keep it right here.
Speaker 6 (02:06:11):
Sam, I've I've played in these games too. Now you're
up twenty nine with six minutes left. There's a little
chatter in those huddles. Everybody wants to get it dunk.
Speaker 3 (02:06:20):
This is kind of what we start talking about. Everybody's
trying to get Louise go get one.
Speaker 6 (02:06:24):
Kavian got one there and imagine see what we'll see
a couple more guys looking for it. But it's good, right,
you get to see a little bit of excitement out
of the guys. They're having fun, laughing together. Three seasons
of grind and really especially all of called basketball. I mean,
these guys get here in June, most of them, and
you're basically getting put through the ringer. You're spending plenty
(02:06:44):
of time hanging out with Jason Miller, You're doing hard
workouts all summer, and these are kind of these first
couple of times where you get teed up against someone
in a different color and here you're at home against
the with the crowd watching you. These guys should be
having fun, but I also know coach, you gotta have fun,
but stay locked in because he doesn't want to see this.
Last six minutes gets lobby. Maybe we'll get a couple
(02:07:07):
more dunks.
Speaker 4 (02:07:07):
The five on the floor right now, Dom Clay, Noah Pederson,
Max Barley and he's the final. It's and Markai Strickland
six twenty four remaining Bison leaded by twenty nine. Comma
in the middle of the paint, tried to go for
a dunk himself, miss it on the backboard into the
handsome Dom Clay. The freshman goes in and gets fouled
by Garrett's. He had a chance there. He was out
(02:07:29):
in front of the pack, Garrett's retreating back and he
hacked him.
Speaker 3 (02:07:33):
Dom Clay will go to the free throw line.
Speaker 38 (02:07:35):
His second personal final eighteen to the breezer line from
in front of State fourteen.
Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
So here's dom Clay, the true freshman from Quincy, Illinois.
He's up the line right Benton's and knees, puts it
up and misses off the back eye. Would have been
his first points as a Bison, did not score in
the Minnesota exhibition a week ago.
Speaker 3 (02:08:06):
Let's see if you can get it here. Wearing number fourteen.
Speaker 4 (02:08:10):
The rookie spins, bends the knees, puts it up, misses
off the back eye or the free throw struggles continue
for INNDSU six eleven remaining. It's eighty four to fifty five. Hell,
I mean on the left wing, fires up a three,
got it? They're nine of twenty five from downtown. It's
(02:08:32):
now eighty four to fifty eight.
Speaker 6 (02:08:36):
And the thing is, Sam, You know, when you're up
twenty six twenty nine, you can live with a few
of those misfree throws, but you don't want to let
it turn into an habitual thing. I know, I sw
I'm sounding way too much like coach Richmond lazy, but
but you gotta stay locked in knocking the easy ones
and keep performing.

His first career basket is a Bison, and that makes

see as a fan and a former player.
Speaker 3 (02:14:15):
This is that stretch where a couple of these.
Speaker 6 (02:14:17):
Guys are gonna get in here that you know, maybe
some of them are gonna redshirt and they won't play
again this year.
Speaker 3 (02:14:22):
You know, guys that are gonna see very minimal minutes.
Speaker 6 (02:14:25):
Guys like Andy Stefano, it's Noah Pederson are done, but again,
you know, kind of like a celebration of the end
of the preseason, and then it's time to go to work.
Speaker 4 (02:14:36):

Speaker 4 (02:14:55):

the Bison looks to close out at the last minute,
forty two good and good on the first free throw,
ninety nine to sixty three.
Speaker 3 (02:18:44):
Our score.
Speaker 4 (02:18:50):
Second one good, ninety four one forty two remaining. Here's
Riley Saunders out of Sandy Springs, Georgia walk On On
the team who joined late in the summer. Here's Don
Clay driving in, pulls it back to.
Speaker 3 (02:19:06):
The left wing top of the key for Marley.
Speaker 4 (02:19:09):
Marley driving downhill with the left hand of the base
line left wing for Clay. Clay circling in baseline right
hand scoop blocked away. No good Jenkins with a block
for MSUM one fifteen to play Gooden pulls up deep three.
Speaker 3 (02:19:23):
On the way, got it Dominic.
Speaker 4 (02:19:25):

Speaker 4 (02:20:21):
That'll make it one oh one to sixty nine, and
that's going to be it here in Fargo. Thirty seconds
winding down, Dave Richmond put the hands up to say,
do not shoot it. The ball gets knocked out of
bounce by Gooden. Twenty five point seven seconds to play
on the game clock. Twenty two seconds left on the
shot clock. Inbounds comes to Marley, Jason Kemp saying back
(02:20:46):
off to his defense, Bison are just going to dribble
this out. Give the ball back to MSUM and it's
going to be an exhibition win for NDSU. Buzzer sounds

game clock. One more inbound and this one will be
in the books. Dave Richmond laughing and smiling with his
staff as MSUM inbounds the ball and the final buzzer
sounds in Fargo. A handshake and embrace for the former
(02:21:27):
Bison assistants Dave Richmond and Jason Kemp. This one is final,
and the victorious side of the Red River is here
in Fargo. The Bison cruise against MSUM one a one
to sixty nine, an NDSU comes away with a victory
in their last preseason action up twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (02:21:49):
Hey good win, right, I mean overall love the energy
out of NDSU. I mean coming out and getting a
hundred points. It's a good effort. No matter who you're play,
it's still a Division two opponent. That's a good team.
I like the energy to the NDSU bro We saw
a lot of spark out of you know a lot
of guys. NDSU's got a chance to have some depth
this year as well, which is really nice. And uh,
(02:22:12):
you know, now that exhibition's over, we're heading into the
regular season. I'm excited to see what these guys got
in the tank coming forward.
Speaker 4 (02:22:19):
A lot of positives tonight and the NDSU Buyson get
the job done one on one to sixty nine in
the final. We'll come back and recap it on our

floor that the Bison.
Speaker 3 (02:25:35):
Did well here today.
Speaker 6 (02:25:37):
Yeah, you know, just kind of like I said, I
think overall, a good effort for this early in the season,
especially with all these new guys. You know, the things
they tend to see with a newer team that's not
quite clicking is you know, they're struggling to take care
of the ball and they let other teams get loose.
But I mean, you hold them sum to sixty nine
in a game where you know, when you're up that much,
(02:25:57):
teams are gonna start letting it fly a little bit.
But also that's only four turnovers for DUSU, which I
think is great as well. I think if you're coach Richmond,
you got to be happy with that to start the season.
Speaker 4 (02:26:07):
Yeah, the Biason shoot fifty eight percent from the floor,
They end up ten out of twenty two to forty
five percent from three, and they outrebound MSUN forty two
to twenty nine. On the ballgame, they win it one
oh one to sixty nine. We'll hear from coach Richmond
in just a moment. Let's take a time out and
we'll continue here on our Rick Electric postgame show.

Speaker 3 (02:29:22):
Fun night tonight in the shot.
Speaker 11 (02:29:23):
Yeah, it's a lot of fun. I think that's the
word I just used too on the TV. It's just
a lot of fun. It's fun to see our guys
have fun. We put in a lot of blood, sweat
and tears and time into this thing for them to
go out there and just fly around and execute. Clearly
not a perfect version of us, and plenty of things
from a coach's perspective to clean up. But you know,
just a good little crowd, a little energy. The band
(02:29:45):
is still going, which I love. They won't leave this
is great. But again, overall, just a fun night.
Speaker 6 (02:29:52):
You know, coach, I've known you a long time, right,
We kind of talk about the type of product that
you like to have out there. Defensively, you guys kind
of have point of emphasis cranking up the intensity even
more intense.
Speaker 3 (02:30:03):
I've always known you as kind of a just.
Speaker 6 (02:30:05):
Be solid yeah right, But in all seriousness, how do
you told that line a little bit with trying to
crank that up but not getting too crazy?
Speaker 3 (02:30:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (02:30:12):
Well, and I think you saw the craziness with the
files on the second half decks And you're right, like
we talk about, anything is everything in life is a
fine line, right. You have to walk yourself to the line,
and you have to be on that line, but you
can't go over it if you don't get close enough
and you're soft and you're passive, you're not gonna be
good if you go over and we follow we sent
them to the line too many times, like we did tonight.
But that's all part of it. You know, it's October
(02:30:34):
what twenty third and all the things here today. We
got a long ways to go, but it's a lot.
Here's what I do know, dex. It's a lot easier
to pull back than to push, and so it's fun
to see some of that urgency out there for more guys.
Speaker 4 (02:30:46):
Yeah, nineteen points off at turnovers tonight, Coach, a lot
of transition opportunities.
Speaker 11 (02:30:50):
Well, the staff is going to be happy, right They've
they've challenged me to get a little bit more aggressive,
and those are the things that we need to do.
We need to. You know, we scored one hundred and
one points, but I think a lot of our offense
is gonna come from our defense, or you know, I
believe it needs to. So we saw some of those
things tonight. We do have some athletic guys that can
get out and run and be around the rim.
Speaker 12 (02:31:09):
So it was encouraging.
Speaker 3 (02:31:11):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (02:31:11):
When we talked preseason, you said Noah Fenderson had turned
a corner, and I think we saw a glimpse of
that tonight.
Speaker 11 (02:31:17):
Well we didn't last Thursday, and we did tonight. So again,
I love Fetti, but and I'm going to continue to
be relentless on that young man because he tells me
he wants to continue to hear the truth from me,
And the truth right now is I'm very, very proud
of the young man at double double nineteen and ten
and just under twenty four minutes. I mean, that's terrific,
and I'm not gonnasider here and tell you we're gonna
(02:31:38):
go as anybody's gonna go right, But Noah'll being productive, assertive,
playing with a dog mentality.
Speaker 12 (02:31:45):
That's gonna be big for us, no.
Speaker 3 (02:31:46):
Doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (02:31:47):
You look at some of the other numbers, coach, shooting
wise over fifty eight percent for the game. Max Marley
had a really efficient game offensively.
Speaker 11 (02:31:57):
Yeah, you know, mac Max has been one of the
bright spot I mean many of the bright spots too,
But like I was encouraged with how we played at
Minnesota the other night and encouraged with how we play today,
So that's big. There's a lot of things with his size,
his age, his maturity, experience, those things that can help us.
And he's when we've gotten under the lights, he's showing
(02:32:18):
well and that's obviously very encouraging.
Speaker 4 (02:32:21):
About a week and a half before we go out
to corvallis what's the focus here now, coach, before we
tip it.
Speaker 11 (02:32:26):
Off for real, Breathe for a second. Breathe for a second,
because as you know, Dex knows, like when we leave
next Sunday and you go all the way through that
l Pasco trip, man, it is you have zero idea
where you are, what's going on in life other than
the next one and the next one, the next one.
But I tell you what and Dex will tell you this,
like I refuse to do it with the wrong people.
(02:32:46):
And this is the this is the right group. We
got a long ways to go on the court, but
they're fun to be, fun to be around on and
off the court.
Speaker 3 (02:32:54):
Cannot wait for it, coach, Really appreciate congrats on the wind.
Speaker 11 (02:32:57):
Just good to see a gentleman. We need to get
Dex some under armour gear, I think so, that's what
I was saying. It was Bison sixteen sixty. We need
some gear.
Speaker 3 (02:33:05):
We'll supply. It's on the way there.
Speaker 4 (02:33:07):
It is Dave Richmond here with us on the Prick
Electric post game show, Bizon win one O one sixty nine.
Now have Noah Federson with us our no Nackatshurs Player
of the game. Noah, great, see you. Congrats on the win.
How did it feel getting out there in front of
the home crowd to night?
Speaker 3 (02:33:22):
It felt great.
Speaker 26 (02:33:22):
You know, it was definitely a long offseason, so great
to be back here in front of our fans.
Speaker 4 (02:33:26):
Yeah, you guys were flying around, got out in transition.
You had the big dunk. There are a couple other
opportunities off of steals. Take us through what it was
like to generate some opportunities offensively with the defense.
Speaker 3 (02:33:37):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 26 (02:33:37):
You know, that was definitely one big emphasis early on,
you know, when they were scoring the ball, was our
offense is so much better, we can get stops on them.
I think we saw that on the runs that we went,
you know, when we were able to get stops, they
couldn't stop us offensively, And a lot of that was
in the transition.
Speaker 6 (02:33:52):
No, you know, just taking a look at this team
that you guys have, you know, nine new guys. That's
a big adjustment. We kind of talked about a little
bit pregame. What are you trying to do to kind
of help some of those guys get comfortable learn what
it means to be here and be part of the
Bison program.
Speaker 26 (02:34:06):
Yeah, you know, the first step of it, like you said,
is learning to be a part of the program. And
you know a lot of that's off the court, outside
of practice, you know, being together, hanging out, and then yeah,
it just translates onto the court, you know, teaching them,
you know, how to do the right things, you know,
helping out when coaches are tough on them. So yeah,
it kind of all messages together both off on the court.
