Speaker 3 (01:00):
Hello everyone, and welcome inside the Shields Center here in Fargo,
North Dakota. Tonight, it's the home opener for the North
Dakota State Bison as NDSU looks to grab its first
win on the young season and host the cal State
North rich Manadors. Welcome to the broadcast booth everyone, and

(01:21):
to another Tuesday night a Bison basketball along with former
Bison dexter Warner. I'm Sam Niederman Partner. Great to see you.
We're back at home, first of a four game homestand
the home opener for the Hurt. Tonight, NDSU checks in
at zero to two. Two close games out in the
West Coast last week, lost against Oregon State on opening

(01:41):
nights sixty seven to sixty five, then on Wednesday eighty
to sixty eight, a loss against UC Davis.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
We've gotten two.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Games of a sample size for this new group. What'd
you learn last week and what are you looking for
here tonight?

Speaker 6 (01:56):
You know, Sam, I think that this team really does
have a lot of athleticism in length and that's going
to be a huge tool for them, especially setting the
tone early in games. You know, something that chronically plagues
teams is having slow starts, and it's really hard to
come back into games when you are playing from behind
early on, and so for NDIUSU to have some quick starts,

(02:17):
we've seen a little bit of that with their defense
cranking up the intensity off the tip a couple of
early pressures, getting some easy buckets going the other way.

Speaker 7 (02:26):
That's been huge for NDSU.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
And you know, going to that Oregon State game, really
in the game the entire time. It's not like they
were down big and clod back or let go of
the lead. It was just a good game the entire time.
And then just didn't really have the firepower to start
at UC Davis. But overall NDSU is competing in these
games and they're finding ways to stick with it, and
I think their defense is a huge part of that.
And so I think, you know, these two games at

(02:49):
home here, keep that defensive intensity, but look to get
the offense going a little bit too.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah, a lot of positives for the Bison on the
two game road trip and on the West coast at
DSU out rebounded Oregon State in the season opener, they
got a lot of offensive rebounds as well. Had a
shot up in the air to win the game. Andy
stefano Witz put up a three pointer as time expires,
unfortunately it fell just short. And then against UC Davis

(03:15):
you had NDSU tied at the half twenty six to
twenty six. It was not the greatest night offensively for
both teams to that first half, and then UC Davis
would pull away in the second half to win it
eighty to sixty eight the skinny. In those two games,
Decks Bison had enough defense potentially to get him over
the hump. They just needed a shot or two more

(03:36):
in either game, and it could have made a huge
difference in swing back in the Bison's favor. NDSU shot
only thirty eight percent from the floor in the two games,
and particularly it was three pointers where this ball club struggled.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
They were just.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Nine out of fifty eight across the two games, and
three out of twenty seven from downtown in the UC
Davis game. So NDSU looking to turn it around from
the shooting department here tonight.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
Yeah, and that's kind of something we've discussed with how
many new faces are on this roster. Right, you got
the athleticism, you got the length for guys to go
out and play hard, but that's where that cohesiveness it
can take a.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
Little bit to get going. And if you know you're not.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
Quite on the same page with guys cutting setting screens,
that flows not.

Speaker 7 (04:19):
Quite there, it can be hard to get the offense going.

Speaker 6 (04:22):
And so I think Indias he's gonna have to just
continue to try and gel a little bit, get comfortable,
knocked down some shots, and there's no better time to
do with than two games at home.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
BIS and checking in at zero to two looking for
their first win on the season. Meanwhile, Cal State Northridge
or SEASUN as we'll call them for a lot of
the time tonight, they're from just outside of Los Angeles.
The Matadors are two to one on the season. They
got a non Division one win over Noble to start
the year and then they went to Northern Iowa and

(04:50):
got crushed. This past Sunday, they beat und in Grand
Forks ninety three to eighty five, an impressive victory for
the Mattadors on the road. This a team out of
the Big West Conference. They're the second of four Big
West teams that DSU will play this season. Of course,
you see Davis is out of the Big West, see
Sun out of the Big West. And then in December

(05:12):
the bise Wall play Cal State Bakersfield and UC Irvine
was a team that won twenty two games and went
to the NIT last season. Dexter and they're coming in
with so momentum, a newer team, their top three scorers
left in the transfer portal, and they come in tonight
bringing some interesting athleticism in the back court. They're two
top guards Josiah Davis and Larry Hughes each scored twenty

(05:35):
five and twenty three points respectively against und and they'll
certainly get after it on the glass. A year ago
they were top fifteen of the country in rebounding.

Speaker 6 (05:45):
Yeah, you know, I always think it's good for NDSU
to play some of these games because West Coast basketball
is a little bit of a different style than what
you see, you know, even across the Summi League, Midwest
whatever you want to call it. But I mean these teams,
a lot of these guys are long, athletic, they like
to get out and play a little bit, and they
play some free basketball. So that's a really good early
learning curve for NDSU. See how they can handle it.

(06:07):
I mean, you see see Sun coming off for worms
right now, some athletic looking dudes out here.

Speaker 7 (06:12):
It's gonna be a good matchup for NDSU to match
that energy.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Second matchup between the Bison and Sea Sun last one
came in December of twenty twenty one, and the Bison
one at sixty eight to fifty four. Rocky Cruiser had
eighteen points in a career best fourteen rebounds in that game.
Grant Nelson also had fourteen points for the Bison. We're
inside the shack for the first time on this season

(06:35):
and the Bison looking to get a victory in this
home opener. It's Tuesday night, It's Veterans Day, and we
thank all of our veterans who have served our great country,
all the men and women for their sacrifices and service
in the United States of America. Certainly going to be
a fun night for the Bison opening things up at home.

(06:55):
But before we go any further here on our case
ih pregame show dext where we want to take a
ball Tom Lundy, former Bison who's been a part of
this NDSU program.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Unfortunately a loss in Tom's family.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Yeah, you know, just wanted to send my thoughts and
prayers out to Tom's family. You know, his father, Steve
passed away this last week, and you know that's a
member of our Bison family. We know that those guys
are hurting and we're thinking of them. We'll have a
you know, a good ceremony for them tomorrow during the
day that myself and a few other alumni will be
which will be great. But his dad, Steve was a

(07:28):
real turn Fargo for a long time. I worked with
him on the mortgage side end now in insurance too.
I got to work with him and you know, one
of the best guys I ever met, just a genuine
human who was the first person to reach out to
me to say congrats on being back in Fargo taking
the new job. He was always just a great guy,
and I know so many people in this community he
knew him. So I just want to get thoughts and
prayers out to the Lundy family. You know, Steve will

(07:50):
be missed. He's a great guy, so we'll be thinking of.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Them, well, said my friend Recipeace to Steve and thoughts
of prayers with the Lundie family at this time. Indeed,
it's the by at cal State Northridge tonight in the
home opener. We'll take another time out when we come back.
We'll chat with the head coach of the Bison, Dave
Richmond is the pioneer Seeds Bison Sports Network from Lerfield.

(10:26):
Northridge in the twenty twenty five home opener here with
Coach Richmond. Coach, great to see you, keyword home. We
are finally back and ready to kick off a four
game home stand.

Speaker 11 (10:36):
A little bit of a weird November here, Sam. We
actually even my daughters are like that. You're home in
November for a couple of weeks, and so no, not
really excited, obviously really excited to be back at home
for a myriad of reasons. And you know, but to
play some home games in November is fun and and exciting.
And we got a tremendous, tremendous challenge here tonight, a
great opportunity against the See Sun team that you know,

(10:58):
Coach Newmans do a really good job of establishing a
culture and winning games for them. And so we're gonna
be thrilled to be at home for this opportunity here
this evening.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
How exciting is it to have just a nice peer
d one matchup inside the Seals Center with, as you mentioned,
to See Sun team that's coming off of a nice
season and to get that early on and see what
your group is all about.

Speaker 11 (11:21):
Yeah, it's just clearly, and I know this might sound crazy,
but this is just the world of mid major basketball.
There's still a lot like we're gonna play Sea Sun
to night, but there's still plenty of things that I'm
working through, and we're working through as a group, finding out,
you know, what our habits and rhythms are as a
basketball group, and some rotational things. But yeah, I mean

(11:41):
to be able to do those things on our home
court here early in November, that that's really.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Encouraging because this is home.

Speaker 11 (11:48):
This is where we bleed, this is where we sweat,
this is where we cry, This is where you know,
we put in the work in the labs and do
a lot of things, and this is where people come
out and support us. And so you know, we're excited
to with this product on the floor where this is
a fun group to be around. And we've talked a
lot about being close, and I think we got to
make sure is that we understand we're close. We've got

(12:09):
to put the action a couple more things to push
ourselves over the edge. It's not just we're close. Things
are going to happen. We've got to go out and
make them happen.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Well, two games last week to tip off the season
at Oregon State, and you see, Davis, what.

Speaker 11 (12:20):
You learn I learned kind of it established or reinforced
that I like this group a lot and are we
still a work in progress? Yeah, absolutely, But to go
to a PAC twelve school in Oregon State and compete
to the to the end and have a lead you
know fairly late that that's really encouraging.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
You know, I wasn't very pleased with how.

Speaker 11 (12:42):
We've responded in the second half against Davis, but I
thought there was a lot of fight in the first
half and in some of that, you know, second half
things were some things that I'm learning about this group
and need to maybe stay the course a little bit
longer and trust some things with some different guys. And
that's part of the learning process. I'm not going to
sit here and tell you and point the finger away.
You know, there's there's plenty of things as players we

(13:03):
need to be better, As coaches we need to be better,
and those are learning opportunities. But you know, something definitely
some encouraging, positive things to build off of coming off
that road swing.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, one of those was markhih Strickland. Two really nice
games for US against UC Davis in Oregon State. He
at seventeen points in each game. What are you looking
for for mark Ki tonight to continue?

Speaker 11 (13:21):
Well, I'd love to obviously offensively see you know, more
of the same. He's been explosive around the rim. He's
been very good and efficient and fluid in transition. He's
got that ability and you know, I still think, you know,
Marky's got an ability to be an elite defender. He's
got an ability and in a skill set and a
body and an athleticism.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
To be an elite rebounder and defender.

Speaker 11 (13:42):
And I think there's more of those opportunities out there
for Kai that can ultimately help us. But you know,
I mean, for his first two games as a Bison,
you know, I mean, he showed what he's all about.
And excited for Bison Nation to see that tonight a little.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Bit more obviously last week would have loved to have
seen the ball go in a few more times. What's
the key to a better shooting performance tonight?

Speaker 11 (14:02):
Yeah, I think the key is for me not to
focus on that, right And I think sometimes you focus
so hard on something and it doesn't go well because
you're just you're tense and you're trying to do those things.
And I've really challenged myself too, Sam. If you look
at the foundation, the principles of Buyson basketball on the court,
it's it's defend, value the basketball and finish possessions on
both ends of it. And I know when you say

(14:23):
finished the you know that it helps when the ball
goes through the hole. But if we continue to take
great shots. And I will say this to our guys' credit,
they were very good shots. And again, I just think
it's not what you like to hear. It's not what
I like to say, It's not what Bison Nation likes
to hear. But part of this is just going through
some things. There's you know, I can go through the
list of you know, Tomorrow didn't play Division one basketball

(14:46):
last year. Carson's never played Division one basketball, Trason or
Trevion Carson's never played Division one basketball, Noah Fedterson.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
You know, okay, we have high expectations for Noah.

Speaker 11 (14:55):
But Noah's never been in this role and as on
a team in a Division one basket well players. So
you know, there's bumps in the road, you know, like
somebody had a good friend tell me. You know, we're
in the fight. The fight is starting out. That we
got bloody nose coming out of last week.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
We do, but we're in the fight, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
You take a look at Sea Sun.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
You're looking at a team that was one of the
top rebounding teams in the country last year. Then just
last Sunday against und they control the glass and we're
able to get a victory in Grand Forks. How big
is the glass tonight?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
It's huge, And I.

Speaker 11 (15:25):
Think that's a strength of ours too. So you're gonna
see two teams and two strengths.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Go head to head.

Speaker 11 (15:29):
But they've they've got they've got some guys that really
go and and you can tell this is a team
that Dutton is not going to trick you. They keep
very things very simple. They do what they do offensively,
they do what they do defensively.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
But they they're.

Speaker 11 (15:42):
Guys really star in their role and you're going to
see two and most of the time three guys be
relentless to the offensive glass and because of their athleticism too,
then they can just go get some things and finish possessions.
So yeah, I mean it's been a big emphasis and
a priority for us the last three four days.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Coach, take me through. You see defending their backcourt Josiah Davis,
the point guard and Larry Hughes, who's both are coming
off a twenty plus point performances.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (16:07):
Again, like you talk about the front court that can rebound,
in a backcourt that can just really play, Larry Hughes
is the ultimate green light. You know, a guy that
can really get it going. He can get it going
from deep and once he sees one, you know, it's
like lighting the match. Once he sees one going in,
that fire is about ready to get started. And so
you know we have to be teed up against him
and be locked in and know where he is at
all times and have a high hand and all catches

(16:28):
and all the things that come with a great shooter.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
I love a challenge like that.

Speaker 11 (16:32):
Though, early on and in Davis Is, I'm very, very
impressed with that young man.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
We talked a lot about it.

Speaker 11 (16:37):
He's just he's the head of the snake, He's the
head of the monster for them. You know, he doesn't
shoot it great, he doesn't shoot it like the like Hughes,
but he picks and chooses and gets to a spot
and a big lefty guard and dominant and you know,
really controls the pace of the game. You know, he
gets the spots, he delivers for others, but also gets
himself to the free throw line too.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
So you know, those are two very talented backcourt players.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Obviously great to be back at home. How important is
it to come out and defend the home for tonight?

Speaker 11 (17:04):
Yeah, I mean it's it's always important. It's important for
us to go play well. It's important for us to
continue to get better. But you know, a special opportunity
tonight too, on Veterans Day too, to honor those have
served and also not not just our veterans, but our
first responders. It's something that you know, we talked to
as a as a group about learning to respond not
react to certain situations and a great example as we

(17:24):
honor those that serve us in so many ways that
to defend our defend our nation, defend us here locally.
And you know that college basketball provides a lot of opportunities, Sam,
a lot, and this is a great opportunity to you know,
hopefully bring a platform and continue to honor and and
and show support for for those that do so much
for us.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Coach, Always appreciate the time and your insights. Thanks so much,
and good luck tonight.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Appreciate you, Sam, Thank you, thanks again, Coach Richmond.

Courtside would like to remind you that all free throws
made by the Bison during tonight's game are presented by
First Western Bank. First Western Bank, you can bank on us.
Bison made some good free throws against UC Davis on Wednesday.
They hit thirteen out of fourteen in the ballgame, and
we're ninety two percent at the charity stripe. The Bison

(24:42):
eighty percent so far at the foul line to start
this season, twenty makes on twenty five attempts.

(25:13):
the Bison are back in the locker room cal State
Northridge getting up its last warm up shots. We'll see
how the Bisons stack up here and look to get
some momentum. It's always big to defend home court, and
we talked with that, or talked about that with coach
Richmond in the pregame and also leading up. He says
that he felt like there was a couple of times
where DSU left a little money on the table for

(25:36):
a home court perspective last season. They're looking to set
the tone on the home schedule here in the shack tonight.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
You know, one of the biggest things you can do
in basketball is protect home court, and we talked about
that all the time at NDSU.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
Historically we've been pretty good at it, right.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
And so you know, to kind of come out of
the season where a high level of success, but also
you know, kind of let a couple slip out home.
That's not a good taste to have in your mouth,
especially if you're coach Richmond coming back. He's always going
to take pride I'm protecting home for it, and so
this is a great time to start right.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
You got to be ready to go. You got to
stay dialed in on all of these teams.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
And like I said, the biggest thing is, you can't
have slow starts at home. You want to bring the
energy right away and get out on top of these guys.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
One of the new wrinkles here inside of shack, We've
got a cool little montage video playing on the video
board overhead some of the best moments in Bison basketball history.
Ben woods side with the go ahead jumper down at
suit Balls to send the Bison to the NCAA Tournament
for the first time at school history. Some of your
teams the Oklahoma win to the NCAA Tournament. That's something

(26:42):
that coach Richmond has emphasized throughout all the offseason. Changing
times in college basketball, but the culture doesn't change at NDSU.
And those four letters represent a lot when it comes
to Bison hoops. And we'll see how they fare here tonight.
As the cheerleaders come on out your lat's overhead there
come to Bison for the first time on the Shields
Center court here at twenty and twenty five buys, it

(27:09):
come on out of their green warm up tops. They'll
be wearing their white home uniforms tonight as on buys
and plays in the background. Meanwhile Cal State Northridge will
be in black tripped in red. Take a look at
some keys to the game decks. What are your keys
to a Biason victory that tonight?

Speaker 6 (27:26):
Yeah, Offensively, Sam Indiasu's gonna have to get some shots
to go. I mean, especially if you look at those
shooting percentages from the UC Davis game that was our
last time out on the court. I think Indiasu's got
to get some threes going in. And the main reason
it helps obviously you're scoring, but when teams are guarding you,
if you're really struggling from three, they can really pack

(27:47):
it in and prevents you from getting inside and getting
some easy ones. So you got to knock a few
of those down space the floor. And these guys got
to continue to get comfortable with one another on offense
and defensively. Indiasu's got to keep cleaning up the glass.
I think that's a huge one for them. They've been
pretty good with it with it so far this season.
Seed Sun's got an athletic team. They're long, they're tall,
These guys are going to crash the glass. They've kind

(28:09):
of historically done it. That's one of their program identities.
Wouldn't expect that to change a night. Don't give them
any second chance opportunities.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Yeah, and ESU definitely going to try and battle on
the glass. It was a strength for a DSU the
first two games of the season now rebounding Oregon State,
they were even on the glass against UC Davis on
Wednesday as well. Meanwhile, for cal State Northridge, as you've
alluded to, Partner, they were top twelve in the country
and rebounding. Last year, they led the Big West and

(28:37):
rebounding with forty per game. Their rebounding margin was ninth
best in the country at eight point four per game,
and so far this season they've got a plus fifteen
rebounding advantage, averaging forty seven bords per game, only giving their.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Opponents thirty two.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
So we'll see how the Bierzon fare against the length
and physicality for cal State Northridge, one guy we're looking
at tonight dex is Markui Strickland. He had a really
nice opening week, seventeen points in each game for the Bison,
and he's got a chance to show off his skills
in front of the home crowd tonight.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
Hey, you know, we talked about it this morning when
I was on the show. But just a young man,
I really like his game. I love the way he
finds opportunities at different levels. And he's just one of
those guys where you can tell that when he makes
a big play, it also shoots energy into his team,
and so big X factor he brings the energy. He
gets a couple of highlight plays early. You can tell

(29:33):
the guy's fat off of that, and that's huge for
a team.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Markui Strickling the transfer out of Western Michigan, it was funny.
We talked with him earlier in the week and he said,
when Western Michigan was here last December, he took a
picture in front of the big Bison statues over on
the other end of the shack, just for fun. He
had no idea that he'd be playing here some eight
months later once he signed with NDSU out of the
transfer portal. Why is it getting their last warm up

(29:57):
shots in? We're just about to set uh set to
play ball. Before we get going, let's pause ten seconds
for station identification. You're listening to Bison basketball Veterans Day

(34:08):
with answers starting lineup for col State Northridge, the visitors
will sound like this. The point guard Josiah Davis six
foot three senior from Kitchener, Ontario, transfer from Niagara. He
had twenty five points against North Dakota on Sunday in
the victory for the Manadors. The two guard Larry Hughes,
the second six to fourth senior from Saint Louis, Missouri,

(34:31):
the son of thirteen year NBA veteran Larry Hughes, senior,
nineteen points per game. He had twenty three points and
six three pointers and the win for Northridge on Sunday.
Three guard Joshua Ogaro six foot six from the Cayman
Islands thirteen points eleven rebounds a game, transfer from Texas State.

(34:52):
The four Grady Lewis six foot ninth senior from Phoenix, Arizona,
six points three rebounds per game last season. The five
bood Fulfuna eight points nine rebounds per game, returning starter
from last year, six foot six senior from San Jose, California.
Andy Newman is the head coach for cal State Northridge
forty one and twenty six in his third season. Former

(35:15):
Division two head coach at cal State Saint Bernardino and
Texas Permia Basin before coming to north Ridge. Meanwhile, for
the North Dakota State Bison starting lineup, we'll go like this.
Andy Stefano wins at the one, six foot two sophomore
from Minnetonka, Minnesota, seven points, four and a half assists

(35:35):
per game. Tomorrow, Wheeler Thomas will join him in the
backcourt at two.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Guard Tonight six.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Foot junior from Elgin, Illinois, first accident over a year
for Tomorrow last week after he registered it last season
to heal off from his leg injury that's been nagging
him throughout his career. Six points, two and a half
assist per game. Trebion Carson the three six to three
junior from West Point, Iowa, eight points, five rebounds per game. Upfront,
Marqui Strickland six to sixth senior from Miami, Florida, seventeen

(36:04):
points in both games last week, and then the five
Noah Fenderson six foot ten junior from a Nominee, Wisconsin,
six and a half points per game, four rebounds per
game last week. Dave Richmond, the head coach twelve season
for Coach Richmond and the Masen making a change in
the starting lineup Dexter. Typically it had been Tay Smith
who which started the two guard with Tomorrow running the

(36:25):
point and the first two games a coach Richmond changing
things up. He's going with both Andy and Tomorrow tonight
in the backcourt to start.

Speaker 7 (36:33):
Yeah, you know, probably just kind of feeling it out again.
A lot of new bodies.

Speaker 6 (36:36):
You gotta find a rotation that works well with this team.
And you know, I like having Andy da Mario out
there early, two guys that can really get out, get running,
but both in that you know, point guard type of
role where they can get this team set up and
get some good looks early. So we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
I like it gonna have the three guards along with
Markai Strickland, who is as versatile as it gets for
a DSU playing at the four and six foot six.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
We're about set to go.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Our officials Sennight, Josh White, Greg Langsdorf, and Daniel Dwin
ready to jump, center Grady Lewis and Noah Fedderson and
the Bison and White Northridge in black set for basketball
once again here in Fargo. Ball is up and the
Bison win the opening tap. We are underway in this
home opener or Bison start things out moving from right
to left as you listen, Manda Man defense for cal

(37:25):
State Northridge Bison working on the left wing to Treveon
Carson looking into the post and decides to flip it
over to Stefano Witz right wing wheeler Thomas into the poster.
Federson met by a double team, brings it out to
the perimeter, loops it over to the opposite corner ste
final it's four to three off the mark, no good
rebound battled for and dug out by Josiah Davis for

(37:45):
cal State Northridge Bison come up empty other first trip
and now they defend of the front court right man
de Man. Here's Davis driving in the lane, stops on
the block out top to the foul line. O'garo puts
it up on the left hand, no good off the backboard.
Got his own miss though, and repost up on Stefano
Witz left wing. Davis spin move left of the lane,
putting his shoulder down, finds full Funa in the lane,

(38:06):
throws it up stop for Lewis. Lewis with five on
the timer in a double team, and he lost it
at of bounds. Off of Northridge last, it'll be a
turnover and the Bison will have it going the other way.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
Good stop by the Bison.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
After giving up the offensive rebound, they're able to turn
away Northridge and here they go looking for the game's
first points. Just over a minute gone. Here in the
first half, Strickland on the right wing, top of the key,
Carson left wing, Wheeler Thomas driving kick Carson fires a
three off the rim. No good long rebound to Carson
though he's got into the corner right in the Keiy

(38:42):
Fedderson right wing Carson. Carson puts it on the dribble
with the left hand, left of the key for Wheeler.
Thomas eleven on the shot clock, bounces in for Federson
puts it up off the glass hand. Good first points
to the game belong to Noah Fenderson and had two
nothing start for the Bison.

Speaker 7 (38:58):
Yeah, two good early looks for India's us Sam.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
The wide open three from Andy in the first possession
didn't fall, but then they stick with it. Nice post
being a good strong finishing side for Noah.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
Two zap andsu.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Here's Northwidge with Folfana drive again rejected by Strickland, get
up there, mar Kay. He pounds it away with the
right hand, a big time block and it's out of bounds.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
It'll stay with north Reache.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
The inbounds comes in from Hughes, catch by Davis in
the lane, drives with the right hand, puts it up
off glass No good, rightbound by Lewis and he puts
it back with the right hand.

Speaker 7 (39:33):
Good.

Speaker 4 (39:34):
Two to two. Granny Lewis with the offensive rebound. That's
what they like to do.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
They will crash the glass and a second chance points
tie the game at to a piece.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
Over two minutes gone. First half.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Buson with it front court left, stefano Witz between the rings,
driving to the right elbow. Pivots throws it upstairs for Pederson,
lost at the rim, taken away by Hughes, up up
the top four Davis left to right, throws it inside,
passing eye by Strickland and in the hands of Carson
and the bison. Stefanowitz leads the break right wing Wheeler
Tanas shuffles fires on three bag. He drills it from

(40:06):
the outside. There's the start war looking for from three
point range to Mary knocks down the triple find the
two buison.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Here's Lewis down to.

Speaker 7 (40:16):
The other end.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
Block from behind by Pederson, but the book back good
on the other end, buy Folfuna and a whistle for
a foul. They'll get Andy Stefanowitz first on Stefanowitz in
the first on Indiasu and that sends my mood Fofana
to the free throw line. Nine of twenty one on

(40:37):
the young season forty two percent. We'll have a chance
for the and one free throw. The big fellow dribbles
and zones in, puts it up and it's good. He
gets the roll and makes it five to five. Here
in the early going, buys it from right to left.
Here's stefano Witz high on the right side, top of
the key, hearing left of the key. Now keep the

(41:00):
dribble posting in for Carson. They're working around the perimeter.
Wheeler Thomas corner three on the way, no good line
drive miss taking off the hands of Folfana out of bounds.
It'll stay with Ndsu Bisonable inbound from the baseline and Sam.

Speaker 6 (41:17):
That's another really good look for damariw Wheeler Thomas from three.
Can't get much better looks than those couple right there.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
In bounce comes to Federson left short corner, backing in
on Lewis bounces to Strickland around the ark they go,
Carson in the right corner, right wing stefanal Witz left
of the key wheeler. Thomas driving in kicks out extra
pass stuffinal Witz four to three, boom.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
He ain't got it right from the top of the key.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Beautiful ball movement by the bison at Stefanowitz sticks the
triple eight to five ndsu Lewis at the other end
underneath Strickland lamb no good and the rightbound to Marcai
stumbling out of traffic, charging ahead on the dribble upstairs
Betterson and a whistle for an offensive foul.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
As the bison charged going down the lane, they'll get
Strickland before the alley up and that'll send it the
other way to Northridge.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
So first on Strickland and the second on the bison
was sixteen thirty two remaining in the first half.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
I didn't really see it. What did you think?

Speaker 6 (42:21):
I didn't see it either, to be honest, Yeah, kind
of have it in a flash if it happens when
you're on the stride like that, though they usually do
end up calling it. Yeah, Ogero with a runner. No good,
but a whistle for a foul on Northridge and they
will get my mood. Folfauna is first and Northridge is first,
and I'll send it the other way to the Bison.

Speaker 4 (42:43):
So Bison have two threes in the early going. That
is a good sign.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
We were hoping for that after NDSU struggled from three
point range out on the West coast.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
Two for the first five.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Here Stefanowitz left of the key, thought about the.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
Pass, and now he'll take a three instead.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
No good, remount tip my Carson Smith Smith, no good.
Anderson flying in Trason Anderson that is, and he wasn't
able to get a hold of it.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
But a whistle for.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
A foul that'll go against o Garrow and cal State Northridge.
And so Garrow's first in the team's second and Tresan Anderson,
who plays some good minutes last week, will go to
the bowel line and shoot a pair. Here's the six
foot nine sophomore from Lincoln, Nebraska knocking down his first

(43:27):
nine to five Bison free throw. Brought to you by
First Western Bank. First Western you can bank on us.
Here's Trayson Anderson second. It's good. He makes them both
ten to five. Bison with the early lead with sixteen
oh six remaining in the first half.

Speaker 6 (43:43):
And Indy's hues kind of imagine that energy on the
offensive glass as well, both Smith and Anderson getting down
two offensive boards.

Speaker 7 (43:49):
Leads to two free throws.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Hughes throws it into the corner for Davis jump stop
in the middle of the post, throws it for oh
Garrow in the right corner up top for Hughes drives
pop from fifteen Good knocks down the mid range jumper.
Larry Hughes the second with his first points of the game.
He had twenty three of them on Sunday against und
and that makes it a three point game. Ten to seven.

(44:11):
Bis have the ball and the lead left wing Carson
driving o'garow taking him down to the left baseline, backing
into the lane, had it sewing away though by Fopana,
and here comes cal State Northridge from left to right.
Hughes across the Bison midcourt Logo throws at the right
side of the arc. Davis driving in against Wheeler Thomas
right baseline, left hand dribble into the paint, and a

(44:32):
whistle for a blocking foul called on tomorrow at Dave
Richmond and the Bison bench cannot believe it. Tomorrow went
flying after taking contact from Davis in the middle of
the lane. But they whistled tomorrow for the block and
that'll take us to the under sixteen media timeout fifteen

(44:52):
to seventeen, remaining in the first half ten to seven Bison.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
This is the Bison Sports Network from lear View.

(46:31):
the opening half, cal State Northridge in bound full final
left block, puts it up, rolls it up, No good
rebound four taken underneath by Lowry, no good put back
batt out of.

Speaker 4 (46:40):
Bounds and off of NDSU last.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
So Cal State Northridge will maintain possession blocking foul called
on tomorrow Wheeler Thomas before we hit the under sixteen
bisonv checked in Max Marley and Tay Smith off the
bench the inbounds comes to Hughes and he banks in
the leaner from the left. Fourth point of the night
for Hughes, and that draws Northridge within one ten to

(47:05):
nine under fifteen remaining in the half. Here's Stefanowitz left wing,
tom of the key. Marley Marley picks up his dribble
left wing. Smith hands off to Stefanowitz. Stefano Whitz finds Anderson.
He'll watch the top of the key. Three off the mark,
no good rebound battle out by Carson Smith. Reload Tay
Smith for three halfway down it out spinning rebounds, say

(47:26):
by Anderson. Marley's got it. Kicks out to Carson Smith
and they'll reset with Tay Smith.

Speaker 4 (47:31):
Through the corner.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
Smith brings the dribble back down to the left side
of the arc left of the key. Anderson back to Smith.
He'll tee up another three do off the back Guy
Ronder the long rebound of the hands of Folfana out left,
pass up ahead. Here's Jordan Brinson throws it over the
head for Lowry in a whistle for a foul on
the bison. That'll quickly be the fourth on endsu fourteen eighteen,

(47:54):
remaining of the half and it goes on. Carson Smith
his first, Strickland, Fenderson, and Wheeler Thomas all come back in.
Carson Smith, Anderson and Stefanowitz all go out for the Bison.
Cal State Northridge in the front quarter right ten nine
Bison in the early going. Here's Hughes circling around, hounded

(48:17):
by Wheeler Thomas between the legs. Dribble calls for a
screen from James Evans Junior. A freshman gives it up
to Evans Junior. Paster dat by Strickland throws it wildly
to lowry left wing. Three off the mark. No good
rebound taken by Federson. Here come the Bison from right
to left. Wheeler Thomas into the front court, kicks out
Tay Smith deep on the right wing, top of the key.

(48:38):
Wheeler Thomas. Wheeler Thomas with the left hand Dribble got
his van in the air, pops it for Smith the
right corner. Three no off the back iron. The rebound
taken out of bounds off of fourth rids. Last will
stay with the Bison. So far a slow star from
three point range for the Bison. Two out of ten

(49:00):
two begin from beyond the arc and just three out
of twelve from the floor twenty five percent.

Speaker 4 (49:05):
Right now for in ESU wheeler.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Thomas will inbound from the left baseline, looking scanning fine
Strabon Carson left wing, Noah Federson top of the key,
Max Marley, Marley crossover shaking bake right wing. Strickland drives
into the lane, puts it up on the right hand,
banks it in off the square. Nice take by Marcuy
Strickland his first points and that makes it twelve nine Bison.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
Thirteen twenty one remaining of the half.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
Evans a little runner denied by Federson, offensive rebound Lewis
block by Fedderson again. Bally comes to Pederson up ahead
for Strickland into the front court, driving in and a
whistle as he barrels in, and they get him for
a charge, sending it the other way to Northridge. It'll
be the second personal on Marqui Strickland in the fifth

(49:52):
on the Bison here in the first half thirteen to
ten before the break.

Speaker 6 (49:57):
Yeah, and you love to see the aggression, Sam, but
two early offensive charges for Strickland. It's not a deal.
He's probably gonna sit for a little while here. You
don't want to pick up that third one. They're gonna
need him in the second half. You gotta be a
little bit smarter. You know, you already picked up that
one charge. You can't be that aggressive and go get
that second one. Dave Richmond talking with him on the bench.
Right now is the Bison sub Carson Smith back in

(50:18):
eddies who gets into flashed steel.

Speaker 3 (50:20):
Here's Treveon Carson driving in right hand lamb no good
raybound wrestled for it, goes down on the ground with
a hard collision. Lewis and Smith tangled up battling for
the rabound and the whistle will go against Lewis and
cal sate Northridge. He has called for the foul. That'll
be his first and the team's third.

Speaker 4 (50:39):
Team they were scrapping for it.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
Next thing you know, they were just grabbing onto each
other's forearms and they went down. So Stefanowitz will trigger
in for the Bison from right to the basket, looking
bouncing in for Pederson, right corner.

Speaker 4 (50:59):
Pederson with a sharp spin on.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Lewis, now working with the left hand, dribble backing his
way in the lane, puts it up with the left
hand and bounces off the back iron. A couple of
times before trickling off. No good, but a whistle for
a foul that's on Lewis's second and I'll send No.

Speaker 4 (51:15):
One to the free throw line.

Speaker 6 (51:16):
Yeah, and Sam, that's a good read from Pederson there,
because he gets that inbound pass takes the test urable
Seasun's been doubling on the first dribble with every single
post player. Whoever gets a post they're doing it with
the guards that one out of the inbound they're not
set up to bring the double. Noah's patient goes and
gets a good take, draws.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
The foul, and he knocks down his first freight throw
thirteen to nine Bison. Smart play there by the junior
team from a nominee Wisconsin off to us quiet start
here this season. Let's see if he can get going
in front of the home crowd. Tonight, the Bison leading
it early against cal State Northridge. At the line left
Noah's second free throw of the season, actually the earlier

(51:56):
one was his first. He knocks down both of them,
fourteen to nine, Bison by five. I have twelve forty
three winding down in the first half. Here's Hughes top
of the key and a double team out top to
Alex Slimchick and they go down to the post for Davis.
Davis outside had poked away my wheeler Thomas. Nice defense
jumping in the passing lane. It'll stay with Northridge with

(52:16):
a Bison showing some active hands on the perimeter. So
Alex Shimchik has checked in six foot ten junior from Frankfurt, Germany,
and a steal by Andy Stefano. What's on the inbound
He goes into the lane, gives it up for Carson,

(52:37):
lays it home off the left side. Steal it scored
for the Bison, and they extend the lead to seven
sixteen to nine Bison with twelve eighteen remaining in the half.
Nice play, Andy Stefano. What's taking away the inbounds pass.
Here's Hughes pulling up eighteen foot or good, he can
knock it down for that midrange. Kenny's three for three

(52:58):
and he's got six points to lead. See they're back
within five sixteen eleven under twelve remaining in the half.
Here's Wheeler Thomas right of the key pass fake triple
pulls it back out right wing Smith top of the key,
Wheeler Thomas left wing, Carson back up top. Wheeler Thomas
drives and kicks Smith in the corner, fires a three

(53:18):
off the rim, no good and the rebound taken in
the corner by Gie Chisel, and here comes Northridge with
Davis and a double team skips it out chiseolm four
to three off the mark, no good rebound taken by Carson,
and here comes the Bison right to left Stefano Whitz
speeds into the front court.

Speaker 4 (53:36):
Stefano Whit's on the left wing, right of the key Carson.

Speaker 3 (53:39):
He drives in big stap underneath the basket, leaves it
for Smith, puts it up and did not get the
row off the back iron Shimchick with the offensive rebound.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
Northridge from left to right crossover.

Speaker 3 (53:52):
Davis gets to the basket, left the lamp off the
lip of the rim. No good rebound. Carson up ahead,
Wheeler Thomas. Wheeler Thomas driving in your step layup is
no good. The rebound bettingt in the hands of Stefano
wits and he's got it and he will bring it
back to the right corner. Working one on one with
Shimpchick kicks out Wheeler Thomas four to three, no good.
Halfway down and out and the rebound taken by Folfauna.

(54:14):
Davis will race ahead in this track meet sequence, going
down left baseline, almost had his pocket picked. He did
for a moment by Willard Thomas able as saving this
Shipchick top of the key, Chisel Folfauna slash again left
hand runner no good and the rebound taken by Fetterson.
Bison habit leading it by five, ten and a half
remaining in the first half.

Speaker 7 (54:34):
They'll slow it up. I'll tell you what's sam.

Speaker 6 (54:36):
This is about that stretch where running back and forth,
I'm diving on the ground, getting something wet, maybe drawing
a foul because we got to get a dead ball.

Speaker 7 (54:43):
These guys are a little gas right now. Carson for three.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
And that's no good off the back side and the
rebound taken by Chisel. Ten to fourteen, remaining of a half,
still a five point Bison leads sixteen to eleven. Both
teams looking for some offensive rhythm. Chiselm corner three off
the back guy are no good. Chipchick bats it out
to Folfauna, hughes for three. Andy Cancid, his perfect start
continues here in Fargo. He's made all four of his

(55:06):
shots and that three pointer brings Northridge back within two.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
Sixteen fourteen.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
Larry Hughes with nine points in the early going, nine
forty six remaining of the half. Carson He'll fire a
three off the mark no good and the rebound taken
by Hughes. A whistle for a foul on Carson Smith.
That'll bring us to the under twelve media timeout. Foul
on Carson Smith his second and he has us sixth

(55:32):
ninety one remaining of the half. There's a break in
the action with our score. The Bison sixteen Calca Northridge fourteen.

Speaker 6 (57:31):
Yeah, well the luxuries. You still have the lead. So
India's you kind of letting it fly trying to find it.
They're getting good looks. Like we said, we went to break,
so they just got to find a way to put
a couple of these in.

Speaker 3 (57:41):
Davis driving kick Fofauna for three and he drains it
from the left corner. Baboud Folfauna with a three pointer
and that brings Northridge on top. They've got their first
lead of the ball game seventeen sixteen. Byson't looking for
an answer, NDSUSN scored in nearly three minutes. Max Barley driving,
making Tay Smith deep three on the way, rattles out.

(58:03):
No good now the rebound taken by shim Chick Northridge
in possession.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
They come from left to right. Oh Gero kicks Hughes
in the corner.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
No good off the back heeld rebound taken by Fofana outside.
Davis drives in, kicks to Hughes, wants another in the corner.
Good He splashes it from three at a time out
taken by Dave Richmond. Cal State Northridge has scored eleven
unanswered and they lead the Bison twenty to sixteen with
eight fifty seven.

Speaker 4 (58:31):
Remaining in the opening half.

Speaker 3 (58:35):
Thirty second time out for the Bison and cal State
Northridge jumps on top back to back threes Fofana and Hughes,
who is leading them with twelve points so far, and
the Bison need to find a way to stop this
momentum here.

Speaker 6 (58:54):
Yeah, the son's gotten comfortable with a couple of threes,
and the problem is that it's come off of an offensive,
go on a tip out, you know, indias, you being
out of position, so that makes it really hard to defend.

Speaker 7 (59:04):
And yes, he's got to tighten.

Speaker 6 (59:06):
Up on the defensive glass a little bit, eliminate second
chances for seasun And now you've kind of figured out,
you know, uh, Hughes is getting going and so it's
for fun of those are kind of those two guys
that are gonna start getting aggressive because they're feeling it.
You got to kind of do the job and tee
it up on those two on defense.

Speaker 3 (59:23):
They combined for eighteen of their twenty points. Right now,
the Bison come from right to left as you listen.
Here's Marley on the left wing, left side. Now for
Smith out top, Anderson right side.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
Marley.

Speaker 3 (59:36):
Marley puts it on the deck, passes to Stefano Witch
with seven on the timer, driving underneath the basket, pitches
to Smith left corner.

Speaker 4 (59:43):
Three short rebound, taking.

Speaker 3 (59:45):
My ship, chick, and here comes cal State Northridge from
left to right. Davis pushing the tempo down the left baseline,
slots it in.

Speaker 4 (59:52):
Its stolen by Smith.

Speaker 3 (59:53):
Tay Smith and the front court off the steel steps
through finger rolled, no good, layup and put back by Anderson,
no good rebound, fought four losat on the ground. Take
it by Marley, you're a Strickland right in the lane,
puts it up off the glass and got it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
Finally, Bison all clean it up.

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Marque Strickland with the putback, and that snaps the scoreless
drought for the Bison. They're back within two. Twenty to eighteen,
and at the other end Northridge turns it over. NDSU
will have it with seven fifty four remaining in the half,
but not before the under eight media time out Bison trail.

Bison in white trimmed in green, Northridge in black trimmed

side of the arc for Strickland now posting up on
faux Fana pounds the right hand.

Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
Drim Well puts it up on the right hand.

Speaker 7 (01:02:48):

Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
Nice play by Mark I Strickland. He's starting to get hot.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
He's got six and the bizef tied at twenty a
piece seven twenty nine remaining of a half.

Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Here's Fifana finds Hughes in the mid range.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Jumper is short and the rebound taking by stefano Witz
up the floor, navigating through traffic into the front court,
pitches back wheeler Thomas on the left wing left side.
Stefano Witz shot fake step back three on the way wedge.
It's short, no good rebound, no garow. But as he
came down he stepped out of bounds and that'll keep
it underneath with the bison.

Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
And Sam stefano Witz has almost got to just shoot
that right away. That's kind of back to back three
point at tents for him, where he's stepped up like
he's gonna shoot, taking a dribble, and then he just
doesn't look like he has that same flow going into
the three. I think you could get a better look
if he's thinking catch and shoot. He's got to be
more confident taking that shot.

Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
Betterson backing in on ship Chick, pounds the right and
dribble spins to his left, puts it up, draws a
whistle and a foul. Makes the shot, but he'll go
back to the line and about taking on Alex Shipchick
first on the Frankfurt, Germany Native and the fifth on
cal State Northridge. I'm putting Noah Fedderson back at the line,

(01:04:08):
shooting two two for his first two earlier in the
half the Big Fella Zones in Benzanesa. Puts it up first.

Knocks it down and the Bison have regained the lead
twenty one to twenty, trails twenty to sixteen. So a
miniature five nothing run for the Bison after north Ridge
knocked out at three and forced indis called time out.
Earlier cal State northridch back in the front court, oh Gero,

(01:05:05):
driving in the left mid post, hands it off for
Brinson bounces to the opposite corner looking for Lowry, but
he bounces it out of balance. That's a turnover, the
seventh turnover of this first half on cal State Northridge.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
And really, Sam, you have to attribute those turnovers to
indius us pressure.

Speaker 7 (01:05:22):
There was really only one unforced turnover where.

Speaker 6 (01:05:24):
They threw a post pass off of a knee, But
other than that, it's been due to indius us pressure
that Seasun has turned.

Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
This ball over Beederson in the post and another whistle
on a foul. Betterson draws another one. This one goes
on fulfauna that will put Noah Benderson back in the
line shooting too. Six second on the mood Folfanna, sixth
on the matadors, and Vetterson will get another chance. Three

(01:05:50):
for four at the line so far puts it up first.
One is good twenty two to twenty in favor of
the Bison. Fine holiday gifts on their wish list and
yours with ease this season to get great deals along
the way at Cole's and Coles dot Com. One more
coming for Noah. The big Fella dribbles a couple of

(01:06:14):
times Ben's Andees puts it up and it's no good.
Off the back iron hustle for the rebound taken by O'Gara,
and here.

Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
Comes north Ridge Prince it in the front court right wing.

Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Davis, driving in, kicks out o'garo left wing three off
the heel, no good rebound controlled by Carson. Here come
the Bison, leading it by a deuced six twenty four
remaining of the half wheeler. Thomas fires a three off
the rim, no good rebound, batting the hands up Prinson
and here he comes with the compression leggings up the floor,
gives it off to O Garrow top of the keys ship.

(01:06:46):
Chick hands it back to O Garrow driving down the lane.
Left hand runner is good and a foul called on
Fetterson to boot.

Speaker 4 (01:06:55):
O Garow able to get it to go with the
left hand.

Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
On Noah.

Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
That'll be his first team seventh and Joshua Ogero will
have a chance.

Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
At the line for the three point play.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Benzones puts it up left hand free throw, no good,
and the rebound snagged by Anderson. Here come to bizony
oere tie at twenty two, six oh five remaining of
the half, Carson driving got his guys in the air
off the glass.

Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
No good, but a whistle per a fowl fowl on oakaro.

Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Yep, that's his second team seventh so now the Bison
and the bonus was six zho one to play in
the half and Travion Carson at the free throw line
one for one so far this season. Last year eighty
percent at Des Moines Area Community College, where he was
a first team Junior College All American Bison. Really excited

(01:07:57):
about number zero as he puts up the first and
misses off the front of the rim.

Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
No good.

Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Second one caroms off, no good and the rebound taken
by Davis Lowry cal State Northward's clears under six remaining
tied at twenty two. Davis throws it away and got
stolen by Carson and on the front court right and
lay up off the under side of the backboard.

Speaker 4 (01:08:27):
No good rebound taken by Hughes.

Speaker 3 (01:08:30):
Davis up ahead for Lowry fumbles it gathers on the baseline,
stops on the block and kicks it out for huge
corner three fading no good rebound jump four by Anderson,
and he got wrapped up by Lowry, and they whistle
for a jump ball. Jump ball with the arrow favoring
cal State Northridge.

Speaker 31 (01:08:51):
And we use that man to come chas for the device.

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Max Marley will check in, Travion Carson go out, Hughes
inside for Davis, hands it back to Hughes, step back
three on the way, splash. Larry Hughes with his fifteenth
point to lead all scores and cal State Northridge has

(01:09:19):
regained the lead twenty five to twenty two. Here's Stefanowitz
kicks to Wheeler Thomas around the arc, Max Marley down
on the left block Marley in a double team spinning crammed,
he throws it opposite corner. Smith slashes in, puts up
a right hand runner halfway down and out no good
rebound batting around.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Anderson had it for a moment off.

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
His shit dug out by Northridge and they get it
up ahead to Lowry the outlet feet for Davis into
the front court, pounds the dribble, spins Pivots, gives it up.
Lowry lays it home off the left side twenty seven
to twenty two. As the Matadors get a basket underneath
four forty three remaining in the and a half buys

(01:10:00):
and trail it by five looking for some offense. Marley
left wing three off the front of the rim. No
good shim chick the rebound and the shooting struggles continue
for the Green and Gold, just seven out of thirty
two from the floor and two of nineteen from three.
Here's ogarrow for three off the mark, no good rebound

(01:10:21):
taken by Anderson. Outlet feed Tomorrow, Wheeler Thomas Spizon from
right to left with wheeler Thomas driving in kicks out.
Marley drives inside the Yark, spinning down of the lane,
jump stop outside Carson Smith, top of the key Wheeler Thomas,
Wheeler Thomas right foul on extended working to the baseline
outside Stefano. Witz fires up a right wing three grim glassmiss,

(01:10:43):
no good offense to rebound Anderson and a whistle for
a foul on cal State Northridge. A vow will go
on col State Northridge. It's on Joshua o'garo his third
team's eight and that takes us to the under four
media time out three fifty eight remaining the half, breaking
the action with our score. Cal State Northri It's twenty seven,

I should say, and that makes it an eight point
deficit for the Bison, thirty one to twenty three Cal
State Northridge under two to play in the first half
inside Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas had it stripped away for a
moment by Lowry, but a whistle for a foul on Lowry,
and that'll send Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas to the line to
shoot one in bonus and Lowry's first team's nine and

(01:16:10):
Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas will be at the line shooting one
and one.

Speaker 4 (01:16:13):
For the Bison.

Speaker 31 (01:16:18):
Number one and wheeling tie.

Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
Waler Thomas line left eighty three percent of the line
in his career. First one is good and that breaks
the scoring drought of two minutes and one second for
the Bison, makes it thirty one to twenty four. Wheeler
Thomas won more good thirty one twenty five, Byson back

(01:16:45):
within six one fifty seven remaining in the half.

Speaker 6 (01:16:50):
And Sam Andys, you kind of got bailed out on
the free throw there with a late foul call. But
that's kind of knowing your personnel. Tevion Carson's got to
know that you don't need to hit tomorrow Thomas on
a slash. He's got three big guys in front of him.
He got the pass completed, but then he's really in
a tough spot. That's where you got to know you
got different sizes coming. You gotta be able to handle
that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Bet Hughes contestant lamb no good ship Chicks put back
no good rebound by Smith for the Bison. Here comes
indsu Stefano Witz weaving in right wing. Smith drives and
kicks Stefano Wiz straight away left wing. Pederson thought about
the three now clears out to Smith. They work it
to Strickland inside the left dark into a double team
Zipson inside Carson extra pass. Pederson knocked out of bounds

(01:17:31):
by Lowry. With eleven on the timer, Pison are just
two for their last twenty from the floor.

Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
Have not made a shot from the floor.

Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
The last six sixteen and now a time out taken
by cal State Northridge. Thirty second time out and we'll
keep it right here thirty one twenty five cal State
Northridge with one twenty remaining in the opening half. Tonight's
game brought to you park by bud Light, proud sponsor

Speaker 7 (01:18:32):
All right, Dex, let's.

Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
See im the Bison can get some positive momentum going
to the halftime locker room for all the tough shooting
tonight in NDSU only down by six.

Speaker 6 (01:18:41):
Well, we would call this the law of averages, right, Sam,
You think if a two for twenty ndias, you's got
to have a few makes going their.

Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
Way here eleven on the timer to imbound it and
a kickball on cal State Northridge that'll reset the Bison
canw imbound with twenty on a shot.

Speaker 6 (01:18:56):
CLA.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
The officials are making sure they have the correct amount
of time right on the clock. Daniel Dwynn looking at
the farm monitor, that'd be still looking at the monitors,

(01:19:37):
still trying to figure out the time.

Speaker 7 (01:19:41):
Right now.

Speaker 3 (01:19:41):
There's ninety minutes on the game block right now. They're
just trying to make sure they got the correct figure
on there.

Speaker 7 (01:19:53):
Well.

Speaker 6 (01:19:54):
And if that shot clock was under twenty and there's
a kick, it should have gone back to twenty. So
I'm not really sure why they they need to right
go change that clock. If they put seven seconds back.

Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Then yeah, one to nineteen is what the game clock reads.

Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Bison get it into the back court for Taysmith and
they reset under twenty to shoot. Stefano wiz high left
side driving, pitching to Strickland with six points to lead
NDSU and a half drives in puts it up on
the right hand this stint rebound Shimchick and a poked
by Carson, but a whistle on Trevion that'll be a
foul on TC, the eighth on the Bison and the

(01:20:28):
first on Trevion Carson, so that will send.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Kelsey northwards at the other end to shoot one in.

Speaker 7 (01:20:35):
Bonus.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Alex Shimchick from Germany six out of eight out of
the free throw line. So far this season, he has
two points and eight rebounds coming off of the bench
in half number one, Shimjick puts up the first It's
no good. Miss is the front end of the rebound

(01:21:00):
can buy Carson. Here come the Bison. One minute remaining
in the first half. Bison down by six wheeler Thomas
top of the key, Carson throws a hot pass. The
stefanal Woods drives in underneath. Carson Smith puts it up
in the right hand strong and a whistle for a
foul on Davis Lowry.

Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
Lowry couldn't believe it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
That's his second team's tenth and Carson Smith will have
two shots at the line left.

Speaker 6 (01:21:26):
Well with saving Gracia for India. Cusham has been free throws.
They're not getting a lot of shots to fall, but
they're drawn fouls. You gotta knock down these easy ones.
First one good.

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
Bison have scored ten of their twenty six points at
the free throw line so far, ten out of fifteen
of the line so far. Thirty one to twenty six
Bison within five Smith's second good. He knocks down both
of them, and the Bison have brought it to two
within four thirty one to twenty seven fifty seconds remaining
in the half.

Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
Here's shimput Tom right wing Davis.

Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
Davis skips it opposite corner Evans for three, over everything
and the rebound taken by Carson. Here they come from
right to left, with Stefanowitz driving in the lane, kicks
it to Wheeler Thomas left corner. Wheeler Thomas will bring
it back out about a seven second difference between game
and shock clock nineteen to shoot Stefanowitz, Tom of the key,
Wheeler Thomas for three. Yes, there's a three pointer for

(01:22:25):
the Mice in much needed and it draws the Bison
within one thirty one to thirty with fourteen seconds remaining
of the half.

Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
Can the Bison get a stop to end a half?

Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
One thirty one zone eight seconds Davis drives jumpstock backdoor,
bounce past for Evans.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
No good.

Speaker 3 (01:22:43):
He dropped it off to ship Chick, who lays it
home and the buzzer sounds on half number one Here
in Fargo, cal s Northridge with a three point lead

Welcome back to the Shields Center Veterans Day and the
home opener tonight for the Bison, and we are at
the half with NDSU trailing thirty three to thirty on
the Coach's Choice scoreboard against cal State Northridge. Sam Niederman,
Dexter Warner here with you. Let's listen back to our
first half. Bud Light Highlights, bud Light easy to drink,
easy to enjoy. Came in to tonight with NDSU off

(01:25:55):
to a slow shooting start thirty eight percent from the floor.
Of the first two games in Oregon, Saint UC Davis
just nine out of fifty eight fifteen percent from three
point range. Bison were looking to buck that trend early tomorrow,
Wheeler Thomas connecting from downtown in the hands of Carson
and the Bison, Stefanowitz leads the break right wing. Wheeler
Thomas shuffles, fires on three bag. He drills it from

(01:26:19):
the outside. There's the start we're looking for from three
point range to Mary knocks down the triple fine to
two Bison, an early one for DWT and then another
one from fellow point guard Andy Stefanowitz right wing, Stefanowitz
left of the key wheeler. Thomas driving in, kicks out
extra pass Stefanowitz.

Speaker 4 (01:26:37):
Four three boom, He got it right for the top
of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
Beautiful ball movement by the Bison and Stefanowitz sticks the
triple eight to five INDSU Bison were sharing it. They
were starting out pretty good early from three point range
two for the first five after those from Damori and Andy,
but things would change as the half unfolded. Bison still
had the lead in the early going, turning some defense

(01:27:03):
into offense and a steel by Andy Stefano whit's on
the inbound. He goes into the lane, gives it up
for Carson lanes it home off the left side. Steele
would score for the Bison and they extend the lead
to seven sixteen to nine Bison with twelve eighteen.

Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
Remaining of the half.

Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
That would be the largest lead for the Bison in
the early going, but Cal State Northridge would respond an
eleven to nothing run forced the Bison called time out.
They took the lead twenty to sixteen after a three
pointer by Mamoon Fofana.

Speaker 4 (01:27:32):
He had a good first half and then Larry Hughes.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
The second also led them with three three pointers fifteen
points on half number one. Bison would tie the game
back up at twenty two a piece, but cal State
Northridge would continue to stemy the Bison offense.

Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
Jump Shots were not falling.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Bison were two for twenty from the four over a
six minute stretch and they just could not make a
three pointer. That would change, though, as NDSU was still
within single digits.

Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
Within our reach. They would get a three pointer right
before the break to pull within one.

Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
Wheeler Thomas will bring it back out about a seven
second difference between game and shacklock nineteen to shoot Stefanowitz
Tom of the key, Wheeler Thomas for three. Yes, there's
a three pointer for the Mice in much needed and
it draws the Bison within one. Thirty one to thirty
with fourteen seconds remaining.

Speaker 7 (01:28:23):
Of a half.

Speaker 4 (01:28:24):
DAMARIW.

Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Wheler Thomas with his second three pointer eighth point and
the Bison got within one. Calsey Northridge would score at
the other end to go up by three at the
break thirty three to thirty. On the Coaches Choice scoreboard,
Bison just three out of twenty two from deep thirteen
percent and eight out of thirty seven from the floor
twenty one percent shooting so far. Hopefully and as you

can find a way to change their fortunes. Here in

Speaker 4 (01:34:53):
And hopes for offense.

Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
Here the second half, Bison twenty one percent for the
floor throw you out of twenty two from deep.

Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
That's the big right now. The first thirty minute or
twenty minutes, I should say, yeah, you know, it was
kind of the giant elephant in the room was his endus.
You can just start making some shots, and you know,
credit to them sticking with it on the defensive end.
That's what's kept him within three. They were, you know,
down one before that last second live to finish the half.
So you know, now you're kind of at that point

(01:35:20):
where you know we're coming in two two and a half,
were creeping up on a third full game of kind
of struggling to shoot the ball. And I'm almost a
proponent of keep letting it fly a little bit. You know,
get comfortable. You're gonna have to start making those eventually,
no doubt about it. Thirty three to thirty to score
at the half. Cal State Northridge with the lead coach
Drangie now with US coach. Good to see it back
at home once again, we'll get the whole band back together.

(01:35:43):
Always a pleasure and appreciate you taking the time. What
are you looking for offensively?

Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
To get the.

Speaker 3 (01:35:49):
Engine started early in the second half purposely my mic.
There we go, there, we go back.

Speaker 7 (01:35:57):
We're back.

Speaker 35 (01:35:59):
That's all decks.

Speaker 7 (01:36:01):
Wall in the rim.

Speaker 35 (01:36:03):
But I don't know what to do when the ball
doesn't go in. But we've got eleven offensive rebounds. Okay,
we've done a great job. Sixteen free throws in the
first half. Those are two things we can kind of,
you know, hang our hat on, and we're going to
continue to try to just football this thing into the
rim right now, Just get as physical as we can
at the rim, try to get fold It could be
that way. Defensively, we're good enough to have a lead

(01:36:25):
that half.

Speaker 7 (01:36:25):
Offensive we were.

Speaker 6 (01:36:26):
Not, coach, you know, you're looking at the shot attempts
you guys got. It's not like necessarily bad shot attempts.
Do you kind of re reinvent the offensive approach or
do you just kind of try to power it through it?

Speaker 35 (01:36:37):
Like you said, you can't reinvent it, right, Like when
you panic, they sense that too. Our guys sense that,
and then they go rome right so that's things that
evolve over the course of the year. It's just it's
a mental thing right now. Like you watch our guys,
they hesitate right now when they catch it because they
know we haven't made shots for three games. And then
they're in the gym every day and they're shooting it well,
shooting one when they get under the lights and it

(01:36:58):
doesn't go in, and then there's just that little bit
to hesitation and he who you hesitate, it's not who
do it. So we just got to play with some
confidence and ideally we need to see the ball going
early and build that because then we'll be able to
make shots. But like we're gonna need one, we might
need you deck stay lose.

Speaker 7 (01:37:14):
Maybe inside the art, Coach, we'll see, We'll always ready.
Thanks coach, good luck. Coach.

Speaker 4 (01:37:18):
Luke Stragi here with us as we get set to
come out for the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
Jamorrow Wheeler Thomas He had eight points for the Miners
in Markis Stricklandoah Betterson each was six points and Stefano
was three points, straight me On Carson two points. Hughes
was the big player for count State Northridge with fifteen points.

Speaker 7 (01:37:37):
Power through.

Speaker 4 (01:37:38):
That's the message, right Now for NDSU on the offensive end, yeah,
I think I do.

Speaker 6 (01:37:42):
I agree with coach about, you know, keep taking those
good looks because there weren't really that many, especially a
three point attempts where you're like, oh, I don't know
if you should have shot that one.

Speaker 27 (01:37:52):
Like.

Speaker 6 (01:37:54):
Basketball is up big Propona, especially today's game, if you're open,
you got to shoot that thing. And so I think
it's kind of like momentum and just being in a
groove a little bit. Indisu's had some really good looks
when they're flinging it out of the double team where
it's you know, kick out of the post past pass
pass which is leading to a wide open shot on
the back. And when that's happening, when the ball is

(01:38:14):
coming out of like a swing against the double, you
almost don't have time to think about it, right, So
when you're struggling to shoot, that can almost be better
than someone ends up wide open. And then, like coach said,
you're thinking, oh, crap, I don't want to miss this
one again because we've already missed a bunch of them.
But when the balls flying around the perimeter, which NDISU
is doing a good job of, that's when you kind
of can't think about it. You're catching and shooting, You're

(01:38:35):
in rhythm, and that's when you can start to get
them to go.

Speaker 3 (01:38:37):
Let's see if the Byson can change the momentum to
start the second half, ands you with it from left
to right, trailing it by three. Here's Trebon Carson on
the left wing, skips it Tomorrowheeler Thomas right corner, top
of the key. Carson kicks back to Wheeler Thomas right wing.

Speaker 4 (01:38:53):
Three bottom. There you go Tomorrow, Wheeler Thomas.

Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
He's got three trifectas. That's what way to get the
momentum changing. Here on the second a half, Bison tied
it up at thirty three, then a trap and a steal,
Carson Defenderson, back to Carson, growing it up for Pederson
behind us Strickland, who lays at home, and all of
a sudden, the Bison have a lead thirty five to
thirty three. We'll take that nice defense on the trap

(01:39:23):
right as the Matadors came into the front court. Nineteen eleven,
remaining of the game, thirty five thirty three Bison and
a whistle on the perimeter for a foul on Tomorrow,
Wild Thomas. I'll be Damori's second and the team's first
to begin half number two.

Speaker 6 (01:39:38):
I'll tell you what sam. I looked over and I
got the I got the point from coach Dragi right away.
He looks at me and goes, that's one. So I
don't think anybody was happier to see that one go
than that guy right there.

Speaker 3 (01:39:47):
Huge Lukestra offensive coordinator four of the Bison, four out
of twenty three. Now for NDSU from beyond the ark
to maw, he's got three of them. He's three for
six nineteen oh three to play. Okaro inside looking for
Folfana and he lays it up in good off the
right side a mood. Folfana with his eighth point thirty

(01:40:07):
five apiece. We're tied once again. Eighteen fifty one remaining.
Stefanowitz pulls up in the foul line right wing wheeler
Thomas Wheeler. Thomas loms in for Federson, catches in a
double team, skips it up as a corner. Stefanowitz outside
for Carson three ball on the way, grim Glass miss
no good raybound buck four betted and out of the perimeter.
It's taken by o'garow o'garo speeding in the front court,
left hand dribble underneath the fenders, swoops it home on

(01:40:30):
the reverse, layup Good thirty seven to thirty five, cal
State north Ridge back with the lead. Strickland barreling in
and he pulls his way in from the two tenth
point for Marcaiz Strickland. Nice take, that'll tie it up.
Thirty seven. All here's Davis lunching on his pivot left corner.
Folfana drives in and it blocked away by Federson. Noah's

(01:40:53):
third block of the game. And here come the Bison,
Stefanowitz driving, laying it up with the left hand good
and Sean's in transition and the Bison regain a laid
thirty nine. Thirty seven. Here's Davis right corner o Garow.
He drives in contest by Strickland and all whistle for
a foul Markai Strickland and the Bison. That's a third

(01:41:16):
mark Kaine. He picks it up with seventeen fifty one
to play, and I think Strickland will sub out here.

Speaker 6 (01:41:24):
But you know that's the same thing where I'm almost
the proponent of Hey, he picked up his third Let's
see if he can play a little bit, because now
you know, you got that thought in the back of
your head where if I foul, I'm gonna sub out
right away.

Speaker 7 (01:41:36):
And he's trying to get it going. He's being aggressive.
He's gonna sit here.

Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
But at the same time, when he comes back in
at some point, he's got to keep that aggression. And
you can't play trying to not foul. You gotta just
play your game. Otherwise, when you're trying to not foul,
you're gonna get out of position, and you almost make
it more likely for you to pick up that second one.

Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
Strickland goes the bench with ten points. O Garow made
the first miss the second thirty eight to thirty nine.
Bison still have a one point lee. He eats seventeen
forty six remaining drive by stefano Wits falling to the
floor and makes the layup Andy Stefanowitz with a steel
after the score, and then it gets fouled by Lowry
Andy stefanal Witz getting it done offensively and defensively. He's

(01:42:16):
got the crowd into it a little bit, and now
he'll have a chance to shoot at the line.

Speaker 6 (01:42:26):
That's kind of a few inbound passes now Sam where
you see Hee Sun's almost just kind of lacks a
daysical tossing it in.

Speaker 7 (01:42:32):
And he had the one.

Speaker 6 (01:42:33):
Steel at half court, which was just an entry pass,
and that one on the inbound floated it doing a
good job catching season being lazy with those passes.

Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
Stefano Witz knocks down the free throw. His eighth point
is now forty two to thirty eight Bison. Good start
to the second half of the very early stages for NDSU.
Stefano Witz second is good forty three to thirty eight.
Byson leaded by five seventeen thirty nine remaining. Here's Davis

(01:43:03):
across the timeline top of the k. Hughes hands it
off to Folfana right wing, O Garrow, o'garo up top
for Davis again, Davis driving in with the right hand,
spinning in the lane. Pivots throws it underneath for o
Garrow or Folfana rather and he finishes.

Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
With the left hand.

Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
Fofana with his tenth point, and that makes it a
three point game, forty three to forty. Stefano Witz brings
it into the front court for of the buyers in
nine points. Two assists. Tonight for Andy pulls up throwing
inside and it deflected and it goes out of bounds.

Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
It'll stay with the Bison.

Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
Andy Newman, the cal State Northridge head, coaches and barking
out to his defense the last couple of possessions, clapping
his hands, trying to encourage his.

Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
Guys as they get set for the defensive.

Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
On the inbounds stefano Witz looks, heaves it into the
back court for Tay Smith brings it across the mid
court logo and now Stefanowitz will take back over at
the point between the legs. Dribble on the screen from
Venderson pulls up elbow jumper short off the front of
the rim, rebound, take it by Folfanna. There comes O
Garrow from right to left. O Garrow working down on

(01:44:09):
the right wing. O Garo throws it inside ffa Fulfuanna
skips it looking.

Speaker 4 (01:44:14):
For lowry pass was.

Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
While that goes out of bounds and I'll be another
turnover the twelfth on the game on cal State Northridge,
Bison will have it with sixteen forty four to.

Speaker 6 (01:44:23):
Play, and Sam, you can even just kind of see
a couple shots go and yes, you just kind of
got that next burst of energy on offense, guys are
flying around a little bit more build that confidence and
you just start to get better looks on offense and
see a few of them more.

Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
Go lob inside for Anderson, catches in the paint, puts
it up. No Good got his own miss got jammed
on the way up, stripped and taken by Folfana leaves
it for Davis.

Speaker 4 (01:44:45):
Davis across the timeline.

Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
Davis on the left base line, spinning around high dribble
penetrates now into the lay, puts it up on.

Speaker 7 (01:44:53):
The right hand.

Speaker 3 (01:44:54):
Good or no good can test by Anderson, but the
loose ball comes out to O Garrow inside for Davis.
Wide bays in the post. One on one with Anderson
spin No good on the shot, remount bettet in the air,
taken by Ol Garrow finds hughes out top for three
off the front of the rim.

Speaker 4 (01:45:09):
No good rebound taking out to the perimeter.

Speaker 3 (01:45:11):
Carson Smith's got it up ahead for Stefanowits drives pitches,
Anderson champs it down with two rams, raise the roof tracon.
He stuffs it home off the feed from Stefanowitz. Bison
laid it forty five to forty fort or fifteen forty

(01:45:31):
one remaining, and here's Davis backing into the post, carries
in the lane, puts it up. No good can test
by Anderson and the rebound taken in the corner by Stefanowitz.
There come to Bison left to right, wheeler Thomas driving
in inside looking for Anderson, but a whistle for a
kickball on cal State Northridge time out on the floor

(01:45:52):
fifteen twenty six remaining and the score of the Bison
forty five cal State Northridge forty. This is the buis

Speaker 3 (01:47:34):
Up forty five to forty on cal State Northridge on
the Coaches Choice scoreboard, and now the Bison inbound. Andy
Stefano WIT's looking leaning, bouncing in Trevion Carson on the
right block, jumps up left hand, hooked cook Trebon Carson.

Speaker 4 (01:47:50):
Our nice take is fourth point of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:47:52):
Byson extend the lead forty seven to forty, matching their
largest lead of the game, and now they'll steal at
the other end. Stefanowitz has it I'm ahead for as
Smith and his dunkest don't go with the left hand
off It's a rebound comes out to Carson, he fumbles
it rebound on the ground, dug out a moment by
north Ridge. Smith with a reload for three off the
back iron, No good and the rebound taken by Josiah

(01:48:14):
Davis fourteen fifty five. Remaining buds An unable to capitalize
on the turnover inside shim Chick in a double team
in Traffick had him batted away, stolen by Anderson. Anderson
chugging into the front court. The big fella spins inside
and dribbles it off his shoe out of bounds. It'll
go the other way to Sea Sun.

Speaker 5 (01:48:35):
Honey.

Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
Jalen or Jordan Brinson. I beg your parting comes into
the game for Sea Sun and he'll bring it up
the floor with the headband across the timeline top of
the key. Hughes hands it off for Lewis right wingo
Garow weaving inside down left of the lane. He got
pumped by Tay Smith. That'll be a foul on tape.
His first team second.

Speaker 4 (01:49:02):
With a Minie Romaine.

Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
One Andy Stefana Witz with a nice spurt, goes off
to the bench, Mario Wheeler, Thomas comes back in inbounds,
comes to Folfanna through traffic, I'm able to get the
runner rebound taken by Anderson.

Speaker 4 (01:49:23):
Here come to Byson.

Speaker 3 (01:49:24):
Carson up ahead for Smith right corner Wheeler Thomas wants
a three off the mark. No good rebound taken by Brinson,
and here comes Kyle State Northridge from right to left.
Brinson kicks Folfauna over to o' garrow o'carrow on the
left wing, slashes in, kicks out Brinson catching shoot three
off the rim in Glasgow good or rebound foot for

(01:49:44):
by Anderson, but then tied up with Folfanna and possession Arrow.

Speaker 4 (01:49:48):
Will favor Kyl State Northridge.

Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
The Byson defense is held don scoreless for the last
three sixteen decks.

Speaker 7 (01:49:59):
Yeah, credit to Endius you have.

Speaker 6 (01:50:02):
You know, when you're struggling to get shots to go,
it's hard to keep that defensive intensity cranked up. But
that's really what got endiusu back into this and put
them in a spot where they can start making some shots.

Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
Build this lead up a little bit. O Garo's post
shot is good. That makes a five point game. Buyson
on top forty seven forty two, thirteen fifty one remaining
Wheeler Thomas bring it over to the left wing, bounces
in for Carson back ount wheeler Thomas right wing, Pedderson
open three off the back field, no good offensive rebound strickling.

Speaker 4 (01:50:31):
His putback is good. Strickling back into the game.

Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
For his twelfth point and the second chance points the
difference for the Bison. They lead it by seven again
forty nine forty two. Ogaro on the right wing, driving
into the lane, and a whistle for a foul on
Trevion Carson and the Bison.

Speaker 4 (01:50:52):
He'll go on TC. That is his second team.

Speaker 6 (01:50:56):
Spot and San That was about a twenty second breather
for Indy Stefanowitz there, which is kind of what I
expected with how much you know this offensive struggle to
get going looking forward to get this guy's.

Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Back there by Treon Carson goes hand and shams at

Noah Federson quite the athlete. Eight points six rebounds tonight,

shoots two at the line rate. Puts up the first
good fit four to forty four. Bison lead it by ten.

Number three throws brought to you by First Western Bank.

Speaker 7 (02:00:09):
And ESU.

Speaker 3 (02:00:11):
Struggling offensively just thirty two percent from the floor, but
they found a way to create some offense from defense
here in the second half, and that's allowed them to
take control inside. Noah Pederson catches down the left block
and he draws a foul on Falfanna, and then I'll
put Noah at the line once again, foul on ma
mood Foalfanna his third fourth on the team, and Pederson

(02:00:39):
back at the line. The Biderson fourteen out of twenty
at the line in the game, seventy percent as a
ball club. Noah five out of eight himself, working on

(02:01:26):
Davis had it poked away by Petterson, stolen by Stefanowitz
in a stepped out of bounds on the sideline, as
that'll give it back to Northridge.

Speaker 4 (02:01:35):
Tough break for the Bison because they would have had numbers, but.

Speaker 6 (02:01:41):
Still that's a that's a great force turnover. Indias was
getting on running. You're not gonna fault the sideline. Step
there with a great play from Ndiasu.

Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
Ten and a half remaining Bison by thirteen up top
shimchick right wing Davis. Davis righting a keeper. Hughes, he
hasn't scored in a second half, buys it. Have done
a nice job bottom six on the timer, flips it
to lowry corner of three liner I miss no good
rebound corraled by Carson, and here come Ndsu Carson on

(02:02:10):
the left wing, tom of the key. Federson thought about
the three, keeps the dribble alive.

Speaker 4 (02:02:15):
Right wing.

Speaker 3 (02:02:15):
Stefanowitz between the legs, pulls up, throws it to Carson
left side.

Speaker 4 (02:02:19):
He's open, and a whistle for a foul as he
slashed into the lane. It'll go.

Speaker 27 (02:02:25):
On.

Speaker 3 (02:02:26):
Hughes alright, I beg your pardon, Josiah Davis, his first
team's fait. Stefanowitz bounces into Fetterson and here's Widow Thomas
open three Carrom's off no good. Rebound taken by Carson,

(02:02:49):
puts it up, no good. Rebound tip back up, no good,
and the rebound taken by Davis. Davis trying to get
through traffic, and Davis is able to settle up in
the back court. They'll bring it across the timeline up
the key now Davis shuffling over with the right hand dribble.
Davis hangs on to it on the baseline drive and
a foul on the Bison.

Speaker 4 (02:03:09):
On the floor.

Speaker 3 (02:03:12):
Ers On Travon Cars and his third team six with
nine thirty three to go, tc grimacing in some pain.

Speaker 4 (02:03:23):
And now he'll come out for Tay Smith.

Speaker 3 (02:03:31):
Inbounds to come from Hughes throazick and deflected by wheeler
Thomas SAMs and off of Hughes and out of bounds
going the other way to the Bison. Want to play
by wheeler Thomas. Wow just knocked it off the inbound
or another lacks of daysical inbound by season of the

(02:03:53):
Bison capitalized. Here's Stephan Stefanowitz at the foul line outside
Wheeler Thomas left wing, Pederson Betterson driving and he gets
hooked on the arm by Lowry. That's gonna be his fifth.
He is donezo with nine seventeen remaining six and Sam

(02:04:14):
that inbong got kind of tipped up. Then it went
straight up it looked like it was gonna hit something,
but then you know Tomoro ruler Thomas with the douty
play just realizes that he can jump and throw it
on the guy standing at a bounds. I mean four
or five turnovers just off of inbound pass this tonight,
which has been great awareness from NDESU cranking up the
pressure on those plays. Seventeen turnovers by season. That is

(02:04:36):
their season average through three and a half games. Now,
inbound by Stefanal Whiz gets picked off in the other
end by Ogara driving in, puts it up on the
left hand, left it short, jumps up for it and
still has it. Puts it up again, missed it, but
a whistle for a foul on the Bison.

Speaker 4 (02:04:55):

Speaker 3 (02:06:57):
Here's Davis on the left wing and he gets clipped
on the revender by Tay Smith. That's gonna be Smith's third.
That's gonna give season one in bonus. With eight thirty remaining.

Speaker 6 (02:07:11):
Yeah, and unfortunately say and that's kind of how Tay
Smith has picked up all three of those foles tonight.

Speaker 7 (02:07:15):
Is just being a little too aggressive on the ball.

Speaker 6 (02:07:18):
You gotta take half a step back so you're not
getting called for those easy chippy ones, easy calls for
the reps. And that's just a frustrating foul because you're
not really in a position to do anything.

Speaker 3 (02:07:27):
Davis makes the first free throw, sixty one forty nine.
Davis eighty two percent out of the foul line so
far this season. Spins the ball in his ways, dribbles once,
spends the knees, puts it up, and the lefty foul
shot is good, sixty one to fifty. They're back within

(02:07:47):
eleven with eight thirty remaining. Andy Stefano, which has been
the star on the second half, fourteen of his seventeen
total points coming after halftime. He drives with the right hand,
now switches back left in a double team. He kicks
it out Tay Smith. Smith three off the mark and
he got the role finally good Tay Smith with a
three pointer. Bison by seventeen, now sixty seven to fifty.

(02:08:12):
Dave is driving in high off glass, no good rebound
fuck for ripped away by Riley Massey. Here comes the
freshman leading the break for the Bison. Deals for Smith
wats another no good in the rebound, knocked out of
bounds off a full final lass.

Speaker 4 (02:08:26):
He'll stay with the Bison.

Speaker 3 (02:08:28):

A sixty seven to fifty seven, fifty five to play.
Bison have extended the lay to the largest of the
night plus seventeen. They have outscored season thirty seven to seventeen.
Here are the second half decks. It has been quite
in the turnaround for the Bison, still only shooting thirty

(02:10:10):
three percent, but they leaded by seventeen.

Speaker 6 (02:10:14):
Yeah, and again it all comes back to credit on
defense right. NDSU has been continuing to crank up the pressure,
and I think that that turnover margin is really all
you need to see and think we said, I mean
big credit to DSU, but also see some kind of
just being lacksa daisical on their inbound passes.

Speaker 7 (02:10:30):
But for the most part, NDSU doing a great job.

Speaker 6 (02:10:33):
Guys are being heady with their steals and NDSU's out
of those turnovers. They're doing a good job going the
other way and they're getting some really good looks in transition.

Speaker 3 (02:10:42):
Elebison with twenty two points on a seventeen turnovers. Here
so far they have out rebounded season forty three to
thirty seven. Sixteen offensive rebounds with the Bison. That's turned
into twenty second chance points. Both teams shooting under forty
percent and thirty six and the Bison at thirty three.

(02:11:11):
Officials are conferencing about something. Both teams still in their huddles.

Speaker 4 (02:12:01):
All right, so we're back.

Speaker 3 (02:12:02):
Down of the under amediate sime out Bison inbound and
he's Finalwitz has some tape on his left hand. Now
looks like he's all right, kind of taped around his
wrist and thumb. As he gets ready to imbound, Lombs
it for Pederson, catches right bowline extended, keeps it now
loops it back out to Stefanowitz. Shot fake at the
top of the key, now drives down to the right baseline,

(02:12:24):
bounce past inside looking for Strickland, spins left, puts it
up with the.

Speaker 4 (02:12:28):
Right hand and got the roll backpedaling the other.

Speaker 7 (02:12:31):
Way down the floor.

Speaker 4 (02:12:32):
Fourteen points from Marcaius.

Speaker 3 (02:12:34):
Strickland assists to stefinal Witz, sixty nine to fifty buys
under seven and a half remaining cal State Northridge. They've
really gone cold against this Bison defense. Inside Shimchick working
through a double team, puts it up man got it
to go just hung on the rim and it goes down.

Speaker 4 (02:12:55):
That makes it sixty nine to fifty two.

Speaker 3 (02:12:59):
Seven eleve remaining Stefanowitz step back three on the way
off the bark and the rebound goes into the corner
off of end issue last Davis shaking bake driving down,

(02:13:25):
kicks out sharp past to Falfana back to Davis. Davis
in the lane stops on the block, pivoting around on
that wide pivot put and he's able to put it
down off the backboard and in sixty nine to fifty four.
See Son within fifteen under seven remaining time. On the
Bison side, here's Stefanowitz left wing, Carson top of the key,

(02:13:47):
Stefanowitz right wing, Wheeler Thomas.

Speaker 4 (02:13:49):
He drives in and he.

Speaker 3 (02:13:50):
Gets fouled attacking the basket, and there'll be one in
bonus for the Bison. Balanjo Sia Davis sec teams eight
and that makes Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas gets one on one
with six.

Speaker 4 (02:14:09):
Twenty nine remaining.

Speaker 6 (02:14:12):
And the big thing here, Sam is you know, Indies,
Year's got to stay aggressive. You want to keep this
thing at fifteen or above. Don't let it get back
down to ten or eight, and then see suns in
the game and it completely changes the dynamic. Stay on him,
keep this lead, and that's how you kind of take
that next step and keep this thing locked up.

Speaker 3 (02:14:27):
Early buys and have four players and double figures right now.
Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas one of them with his twelfth point
after making the first free throw. His second is good
seventy one fifty four buyers and lead it by seventeen.

Speaker 4 (02:14:41):
Largest of the night, six twenty six. Winding down, here's Hughes.

Speaker 3 (02:14:44):
He's been scoreless in the second half left side. Three,
No good, but he got fouled by tomorrow wheeler Thomas.

Speaker 27 (02:14:53):
One.

Speaker 3 (02:14:53):
That's a third on tomorrow team's ninth yea that will
send Larry Hughes the second to the free throw one
to shoot three to four number.

Speaker 4 (02:15:06):
So Hughes with his first free throws of the night.
He is four out of seven on the year.

Speaker 3 (02:15:11):
Transferred in from Saint Louis University, where he played three
years five points per game.

Speaker 4 (02:15:15):
There puts up the first.

Speaker 7 (02:15:18):
It's good.

Speaker 3 (02:15:19):
His dad, Larry Hughes Senior, played thirteen years in the NBA.
Was a number one or first round draft selection, I
should say by the seventy six ers, led the NBA
in steals in five with the Cleveland Cavaliers. As he
knocks down the second, seventy one fifty six, Now what

(02:15:45):
third one on the way? Good may all three of them?
Seventy one to fifty seven. Bison lead is fourteen with
six nineteen remaining. Andy Stefano Witz with the game best
seventeen points for the driving in to the right block
pitches for Fenderson thought about the three. Now working his

(02:16:06):
way into the lane, spins on chip Chick puts it
up off the glass hand good Noah Fenderson with thirteen
points nice take seventy three fifty seven buys it under
six remaining. Here's Davis driving again hard take to the rim,
wrap around, feed and knocked underneath and stolen away by
Carson up ahead Strickland.

Speaker 4 (02:16:26):
It's a fine wheeler. Thomas lob got denied by Hughes.

Speaker 3 (02:16:30):
He was looking for Mark Kai for a little show
time and so he'll be out of bounce. Punched away,
buys a ball five forty five we go, buys him

(02:16:51):
by sixteen in bounds to funnels. Lombs in and it
got nearly intercepted and he gets it back though zips
it in for Strickland, puts it up on the right hand,
miss the runner and the rebound taken by O Garrow.

Speaker 4 (02:17:02):
There comes season with five thirty five remaining.

Speaker 3 (02:17:05):
O Garrow driving in with the left hand, spins and
scores with the ranks eleven points for O Garow seventy
three fifty nine, fourteen point game five twenty five remaining.
Buyson in control with Andy Stefano, Whit's bringing on the
left side. He drives across the lane, kicks the wheeler.
Thomas drives right baseline, loops it out for Strickland left side.

Speaker 4 (02:17:29):
Stefano Witz wants a three off the back.

Speaker 3 (02:17:32):
He'll no good rebound knocks out of bounds off of
Strickland and le Biason.

Speaker 31 (02:17:36):
Last number seven person Smith.

Speaker 3 (02:17:43):
Carson Smith comes in Marcuiz, Strickland goes out see sun
conserving time. They roll it up the floor. Davis takes
it into the front court o Garrow Driving gets an
open laying, lays it home with the left hand his
thirteenth point and quickly now seventy three sixty one.

Speaker 4 (02:18:06):
Game is down to a twelve point game.

Speaker 4 (02:18:33):
Another turnover here.

Speaker 3 (02:18:34):
Come to Bison Stefanowitz in transition and he'll wisely take
it out to the perimeter to burn more. Clock four
eighteen remaining Stefanowits drives, kicks Smith deals to Wheeler Thomas
drives down to the right block, puts it up from eight.
Good tomorrow Wheeler Thomas with seventeen now back to back
two pointers and the Bison stretch the lead back to

(02:18:54):

Speaker 6 (02:21:24):
Ladies, Yeah, I mean, and just again credit to the
guys for sticking with it. Like coach Drake you said,
really didn't reinvent what they were doing. Just step up
and shoot them shots with confidence, and guys knocked a
few down and he's Tofanos, Damario Wheeler, Thomas got it
going early, set the tone and that kind of set
the preston for everybody else getting loose.

Speaker 4 (02:21:43):
Larry Hughes deep three on the other end, short off
the front of the rim.

Speaker 3 (02:21:46):
Rebound taken by Pofana gives it back to Hughes inside
for shimp Chick. The German al baseline finds Hughes out
top working on Federson eleven at the timer. He lost
his footing, needs some help, rolls it out to the
right side and it's out of bounds. Another Manador turnover.
That is their nineteenth turnover on the ball game twentieth.

(02:22:10):
I should say Bison defense hounding him in NDSU will
take over three h three to play. It's been the
two guards Stefanowitz and Wheeler Thomas who have led the
way for the Bison seventeen points apiece, and here's Noah Pederson.
They're working around the perimeter. Stefanowitz out top for Wheeler Thomas.

(02:22:32):
Wheeler Thomas, veering back right, tosses to Carson Smith. Bison
just weaving around the arc right now leading it by sixteen,
two forty three to play. Shot clock at eight. Wheeler
Thomas driving down, puts on the right hand, layup, left
it short, rebound saved, but not before shimp Check stepped
out of bounds, and that means that the Bison will

(02:22:53):
keep it underneath with two thirty six remaining. Stefanal Witz

(02:23:17):
put the finishing touches on this one. The inbounds comes
into the back court, taken by a Trevion Carson right
wing Steffanalwitz. Stefanal Witz pitches back to Wheeler Thomas seaun
clock down to eleven.

Stefanal Witz has it Shaun clock at seven, back to
Wheeler Thomas with five Wheeler Thomas pull up three ball
on the way back down at three Tomori Wheeler Thomas
saying good night in the home opener, his twentieth point
and the Bison lead at eighty two sixty three. He
went two h four to play Brinson for three. Splashes

(02:23:54):
it at the other end Jordan Brinson eighty two to
sixty five. Tamary Wheeler Thomas fourteen points coming after halftime,
and what a home coming it's been for the Bison.

Speaker 4 (02:24:12):

Speaker 3 (02:24:24):
That's down that hatch and the Bison extend the lane
to nineteen eighty five sixty six.

Speaker 4 (02:24:32):
Carson Smith with his fit point.

Speaker 3 (02:24:37):
Had a whistle underneath fair foul on the Bison at
the other end go on no offensers oh a second
team's tenth that means Seasun will shoot two in the

percent of the first half thirty points. They have scored

(02:24:57):

the second half, night and day for the Bison, Brinson

Speaker 31 (02:25:14):

Sacramento State transfer brings it in pitches back to Riley Massey.

Speaker 4 (02:27:32):

Speaker 7 (02:27:34):

Speaker 40 (02:27:35):
Riley Saunders fall smiles as he knocks down his first
career of Bison basket. It's a three, and it's ninety
to sixty eight at THESU.

Speaker 4 (02:27:49):
At the other end.

Speaker 3 (02:27:50):
Season with a turnover, and that's been the story of
the night. Shot clock is dark, thirteen point four seconds
and the Bison are going to dribble it out here
in the home opener. Saunders bring it up the floor
and he breaks the timeline. Bison will not shoot it.
As the last seconds wind off, both coaches take hands

(02:28:11):
on the far side and the buzzer sounds. Here in Fargo,
a home opening victory for INDISU tail of two halves,
and the second one was the best. Byson take it
over cal State Northridge ninety to sixty eight as the
Green and Gold pick up their first win on the season.

Speaker 7 (02:28:33):
Hey, we'll take it right.

Speaker 6 (02:28:34):
You know, if we look at that Sam going into halftime,
I don't think anybody in this building would have said
that we were gonna get hot from three and win
by twenty, right, So you gotta give credit to the
guys sticking with it. And that's a good second half.
I mean, that's a really good second half of basketball
against a legit D one opponent. So to step up
and you know, keep cranking up that in defensive intensity

(02:28:56):
and find a way to get some shots to go,
I think that's gonna be a big momentum in that
second half for NDSU going forward.

Speaker 3 (02:29:02):
Here Bison at seven threes on seventeen three point attempts
in the second half. They were only three of twenty
two in the first half. Overall numbers still land at
twenty five percent from me on the arc, but a
big time dramatic change in the second half as the
Bison gets in the ninety point market. They down season

the buzzer sounded. It was a tail of two hours

with the Bison. They were down by three going to
the break, not shooting so well.

Speaker 4 (02:32:56):
Needed to make some changes and get the momentum back
of their favor.

Speaker 3 (02:32:59):
That's exactly play what happened, and they were able to
make some plays defensively spark the offense, and next thing
you know, they kind of cruise down those last few minutes.

Speaker 4 (02:33:08):
To a twenty two point victory.

Speaker 6 (02:33:10):
Yeah, and I'll tell you what, Sam, I've been part of,
you know, games that are flipped like that, where you
come out really hot and then all of a sudden,
lid goes on the basket and you can't seem to
score in the second.

Speaker 7 (02:33:20):
Half at all. So, you know, slow start.

Speaker 6 (02:33:22):
But I'd much rather be on this end of things
where you finish the game, you get hot, kind of
like I said, carry that momentum. Guys are having fun,
and then you're heading into another game tomorrow should be exciting.

Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
How about the two guards, the two returners for the
Bison who got the start of the backcourt tonight tomorrow,
Wheeler Thomas we mentioned, led the way with twenty two points.
Andy Stefano, which was a big spark seventeen points fine assists,
fourteen of those points coming after halftime.

Speaker 6 (02:33:48):
Yeah, I mean, kind of like we talked about, those
two are gonna kind of be the you know, the
spark plucks that get the engine going. They're both playing
a ton of point guard. They're kind of interchanging, and
I like I like seeing them both out there together too,
think that it really helps them spread the floor. And
both those guys are kind of looking to get other
people opportunities first before they're the ones that's shoot, and

(02:34:08):
so get you guys out there like that really helps
open things up, gets everybody else going. But then at
the same time, those two kind of identified the moments
where they had to go get a bucket when it
was important, and they both made some big places tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:34:20):
Huge for the Bison tonight as they win it ninety
to sixty eight over cal State Northridge. We'll have coach
Richmond in a second. Let's pause ten seconds for station identification.
You're listening to Bison basketball ninety to sixty eight the

(02:34:46):

the best one.

Speaker 11 (02:34:54):

think you understood why. One of our core values. We

Speaker 7 (02:35:17):
Coach. You know, just taking a look at that box score.

Speaker 6 (02:35:19):
Like we said going into half, I don't think anybody
would have said that we were going to walk out
of here with a twenty plus point win. But you know,
just to give the guys some credit. Defensive intensity, twenty
one turnovers for Seasun. I think that that's kind of
that balance that you talked about last time we got
to beat up.

Speaker 11 (02:35:33):
Yeah, I mean, and that's got to be it. I mean,
we scored sixty, but how many of those were a
product from our defense? Right, And that's the identity of
this team to be great again. We had twenty offense
rebounds the other night we had seventeen again against a
team that really rebounds the basketball. So we have to
manufacture some points. I'm not naive to those things and
create some opportunities, and you know, to be able to
turn teams over and to be able to get some

(02:35:55):
things done on the offensive glass was encouraging to see.

Speaker 4 (02:35:58):
Coach.

Speaker 3 (02:35:58):
I'm out your two returning guards Andy Stefano, which Tomorio
Wheeler Thomas.

Speaker 11 (02:36:01):
Yeah, it's early in the season, and dex is gonna
tell you anytime you get into something new, it takes
some time. And for those two, they've been through this,
they've done it, they've been in this building, and we
needed that, right We needed that calm a little bit
from the storm now with the chaok that was going on.

Speaker 2 (02:36:14):
And we have some great shooters.

Speaker 11 (02:36:16):
We have some good shooters and we'll get better at
those things and that'll that'll make things a little bit easier.
But just excited to be back in the shack, you know,
I mean the Shield Center. There's a good vibe, there's
some energy. I think there's plenty of the things that
we can build on, and we've got to turn around
and do this again tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (02:36:31):
I had no doubt about I got the back to
back coming up here against Saint Scholastica. How about some
of these numbers that might not be the first headliner
on the box score, but Trey Beon Carson ten rebounds
on the game trace and Anderson fought hard. In ten
minutes he picks up nine rebounds. Can you speak just
to the way the team fought on the glass?

Speaker 7 (02:36:49):
Coach yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:36:49):
I mean, and again you and I talked about how
important that was gonna be pregame, and you know that
that's a controllable thing. Your shots, you know, good, better
and different aren't always controllable.

Speaker 2 (02:36:58):
Yeah, you can control them.

Speaker 11 (02:36:59):
I'll out side of the game by getting in and
putting in the work, but rebounding this attitude. It's effort
and our guys responding with tremendous effort on the glass
and Travion and Noah and Carsoner and Tracon and so
it was terrific to see all of the guys.

Speaker 4 (02:37:13):
Really cool moment there at the end for Riley Saunders
with a.

Speaker 7 (02:37:16):
Three, A big moment. Fun.

Speaker 11 (02:37:18):
You know, Riley, Riley puts in a ton of work.
You've heard me talk about it. One to fourteen, fourteen
to one. It takes all of us, and so you know,
happy to see all those guys get a little minute
and Riley to make that shot.

Speaker 7 (02:37:29):
Pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (02:37:29):
Ninety to sixty eight the final score. Coach, we appreciate it.
Congrats on the win, and we'll see you back here tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (02:37:34):
I appreciate you guys.

in the second half. He knocks down the tray and
the Bison leading by fourteen sixty two forty eight. Andy
Stefanowitz is our Notak Insurance Company Player of the game.
Seventeen points, fourteen of them after halftime, three triples, four

(02:40:20):
to four on the foul line, five assists and four
rebounds for the Bison point guard as NDSU wins it
ninety to sixty eight. Here in the home opener over
kel State north Ridge, we're joined by Andy right now.
Appreciate you taking the time. Andy, Congrats on the victory.
How did it feel out there getting things going offensively
the second half?

Speaker 25 (02:40:39):
It was good.

Speaker 41 (02:40:40):
I feel like we really brought the energy the second half.
Like you said, defensively, we created turnovers and I feel
like that got us going.

Speaker 6 (02:40:47):
Andy, we kind of talked about, you know, with so
many new faces on this team, you get into games
like that, that first half where things are struggling. You know,
how do you having been there? You know, I know
this is only your second year, but really you look
at the team, it's kind of you, Demri and Noah.
You know, how do you guys step up and kind
of get the momentum rolling with your teammates?

Speaker 41 (02:41:04):
Yeah, I mean I think back to last year too.
How it took like four or five games really get
rolling offensively. I feel like he just new guys, new faces.
It's always a process to get going, and once we do,
I feel like we'll get flowing.

Speaker 2 (02:41:14):
We'll get rolling, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:41:16):
And it was pretty fun watching a lot of those
transition points of points off turnovers twenty seven of them
off of twenty one see sun turnovers. How are you
guys able to execute and getting deflections, stealing off of
inbounds those types of plays in the second half?

Speaker 41 (02:41:31):
Yeah, really, just coach telling us not to let our
offense if I start defense and just keep creating turnovers,
because that's that's how we knew we could create some
energy going in the second half.

Speaker 3 (02:41:39):
How much fun is it to tee up some of
these inside feeds for Noah or alley oops for Marcai.
You've always got your head up no matter what, but
you've got some interesting options to try and get the
ball to.

Speaker 41 (02:41:50):
Oh yeah, I got some great guys around me, so
it's always fun to dish.

Speaker 2 (02:41:53):
Then.

Speaker 4 (02:41:53):
Yeah, how are you guys feeling about back to back? Now?
I get Saint Scholastica tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (02:41:58):
What's the mindset for you guys simulating a little bit
of that postseason tournament.

Speaker 41 (02:42:02):
Now, yeah, I would say just get right to the
next game. You know, can't dwell on what happened tonight,
and just turn it over because it's a quick turnover,
and just work hard no doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:42:09):

So the Bison win by twenty two. As we talked
about Bison down by three at half. They only shot
twenty eight percent or twenty one percent in the first half,

(02:49:08):
and it was a tail of two halves Byzon shoote
fifty six percent in the second half. They knocked down
seven threes. They put up sixty points in the half.
It was night and day offensively, and a lot of
that had to do with what was being enforced on
the defensive end by the Bison.

Speaker 6 (02:49:25):
Yeah, you know, my key takeaway tonight is just defense, right,
And I think the coach Richman put it really well
that that's gonna kind of be their identity, and I
think that goes to show. Obviously the second half is great,
but what starts with that is the fact that you
have a terrible first half. You can't get the ball
to go in the ocean, but you're down two going
into halftime because your defense kept up the intensity and

(02:49:46):
keeps you in the game. So when you have nights
where you're gonna have those offensive lulls, it's inevitable, right,
It's gonna happen in the game of basketball. You're gonna
struggle to score some nights. But when you can keep
that defensive intensity and obviously have that be your consistent staple.
You're gonna be in games even when you're struggling to score,
which is huge.

Speaker 2 (02:50:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:50:02):
The Bison led by Tomorrow Wheeler Thomas twenty two points,
seven to fifteen from the floor. Great to see Tomorrow
back out on the floor in the Shack and a
home coming. He hadn't played a game here and over
a year and the fans who were treated to a
pretty good performance from DWT.

Speaker 7 (02:50:18):
Yeah, you know, I'm happy for Tomorrow. He's a great kid.

Speaker 6 (02:50:20):
We've been around him for a couple of years now,
and you know it's got to be a grind, especially
when you go from playing to not playing at all.
You know, that season's got to feel really really long.
So for him, looking at the culmination leading up to
this point, you know, you're happy to see him healthy
and playing some good basketball.

Speaker 4 (02:50:35):
Huge.

Speaker 3 (02:50:36):
Noah Pederson had thirteen points on seven of ten shooting,
seven rebounds, five blocks.

Speaker 4 (02:50:41):
For Noah tonight, and that was huge. It wasn't just
steals in deflections, but he was protecting the rim.

Speaker 6 (02:50:46):
Yeah, andys U did a great job kind of protecting
the paint. And even the ones that see Sun did
get to go, they were all tough takes and they
went through a lot of pressure at the rim. You know,
I don't Noah had five. Mark I Shucklin had to
have had a few. But there are some guys getting
pieces of basketball. Hasn't made it really tough for season
to score.

Speaker 3 (02:51:02):
Yeah, Trevion Carson had six steals on the game, eight points,
ten rebounds as well. Mentioned tomri with twenty two points,
Andy Stefano with seventeen points, five assists, three steals as well,
Markai Strickland fourteen points, two steals and a block. Carson
Smith hit a three pointer or late. He finished with
five points. Trays and Anderson five points, nine boards as well,

(02:51:24):
and Tay Smith hit a three pointer for the Bison
as well. Ndsu wins the rebounding battle in this game
forty four to forty one over a SEASUN team that
we talked about. That's one of the hallmarks of their
identity cleaning up the glass. They out rebounded UND a
couple of days ago by sixteen, and the Bison were
able to beat him by three on the glass and
got seventeen offensive rebounds in this game. Points off turnovers

(02:51:49):
twenty seven for the Bison, forcing a grand total of
twenty one Seasun turnovers. In the game, Bison had twenty
five second chance points opposed to the Matador's fifteen and
fifteen points on the fast break opposed to the Matadors
two largely of the game twenty two for the final
score for NDSU, six league changes, seven ties. In this ballgame,

(02:52:13):
Bison went it ninety to sixty eight. Seasun shot forty
one percent for the floor five to seventeen from three
to twenty nine percent. Leading scorer was Larry Hughes, as
son of the former NBA player, had eighteen points. Bison
heldingt had just three points in the second half. Meanwhile,
the Bison shot thirty nine percent of the game twenty
five percent from three to ten out of thirty nine

(02:52:33):
and a solid twenty out of twenty six at the
foul line seventy six percent for NDSU. Next up for
the Bison, they approved a one to two on the year.
They will have Saint scholastica Tomorrow night Division three team

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
