Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Tonight, the Bison look to get back on track after
back to back losses in Summit League play. It's the
second of three straight road games and conference an NDSU's
host is looking to change its fortunes as well, having
lost seven in a row. It's a Thursday night in
February in the Summit League as the North Dakota State
Bison visit the Kansas City Ruse. Welcome courtside, everyone, Glad

(00:26):
that you're along with us. It is another night of
NDSU Bison basketball. I'm Sam Niederman. Glad that you're along
for the ride. I hope It's been a great week
so far. North Dakota State on the road once again,
second out of three in a row away from Fargo,
and the Bison will look to make this a good
start on this two game road weekend. First at Kansas

(00:46):
City tonight, then the Bison will go to Omaha, the
first place team of the league, on Saturday afternoon. NDSU
coming off of a game week in which they lost
two games in a row. Last Thursday night a week
ago in Fargo, the Bison lost by ten against South
Dakota State seventy two to sixty two, and then on
Sunday afternoon on national television. They fell seventy nine to

(01:09):
sixty two against Saint Thomas, two tough losses for the
Bison last week. At this time, they were at home
with a lot of anticipation going into the SDSU game,
but unfortunately, it was a twenty to zhering run by
SDSU that doomed the herd and ESU was up twenty
one to eight in the first half and in control
of everything. That was after a four point play was

(01:31):
completed by Jacari White. However, the jack Rabbits scored twenty
unanswered and they would never look back. They never relinquished
the lead, and NDSU fell by ten. Despite being within
striking distance down the second half, they were within as
little as five, but weren't able to get to close
the gap against the Jacks. As a result, the Bison

(01:53):
suffered their worst shooting night of the season since the
non conference portion of the schedule, but they only shot
twenty five percent from the floor on November eighteenth against
Southern Illinois. NDSU only shot thirty seven percent against South
Dakota State. Overall, they were seven of thirty from three.
Fast forward to Sunday, Bison with an opportunity against Saint Thomas,

(02:14):
a team that beat them in Fargo to open up
conference play NDSU on national television as well, but it
was all Tommy's from the opening tap. The Bison never
let in the game. They were down twenty two to
five in the early going. Saint Thomas hit ten threes
in the first half. They led by nineteen at the
break forty five to twenty six. Bison went into the

(02:34):
locker room. They tried to answer. They were able to
get within eleven with three minutes to play, but unfortunately,
a microcosm of the game was when they got within eleven,
Saint Thomas went down to the end, scored easily, and
on the ensuing inbounds the Bison threw it away and
turned it over, one of fifteen turnovers in the game
for INDSU, their second most turnovers in a game this season,

(02:55):
outside of the Samford loss back in November. Samford, of course,
their whole is to press you and force you into mistakes.
Those fifteen turnovers by the Bison on Sunday led to
nineteen Saint Thomas points, and that ended up being the
difference as the Bison fell by seventeen seventy nine to
sixty two. So now the Bison are five and four
and they're in the middle of the league's standings. They're

(03:17):
currently in fourth place right now, looking up at the
top three teams, Omaha on first place at eight and one,
Saint Thomas at eight and one as well, but Omaha
has the tie breaker head to head over them. South
Dakota State in third place at six and three. The
Bison have seven more games to go, and the next
two are on the road. Kansas City here tonight is
an opponent the Bison have already beaten this season, and

(03:39):
ESU beat the Ruse seventy one to sixty four back
on January sixteenth in Fargo. But this Ruse team has
been on a big slump ever since. They have lost
seven in a row, and this was after being named
the preseason favorite to win the Summit League back in October.
They've been on quite the roller coaster ride this season.
They started four and seven, However, those four wins none

(04:02):
of them came against a Division one opponent. They did
not beat a D one FO until December tenth at Portland.
They would go on a six game winning streak after
that victory. Including winning their first two in conference against
USD and Oral Roberts, but they have since dropped seven
in a row. They got blown out at Omaha before
coming to Fargo and losing by seven, and then including

(04:23):
the loss in Fargo, these last six defeats for the
Ruse have all come by a total of seven points
or less, with a couple of heartbreakers as of late.
On this very home floor, they lost to SDSU in
the closing moments, they had the ball trailing by one,
but failed to get a shot up at the buzzer.
They would lose sixty five to sixty four. Then the

(04:44):
following Saturday against Saint Thomas, they led the majority of
the game, but the Tommy's grabbed the lead in the
final seconds. Once again Kansas City unable to come up
with a game winning basket.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
They lost that game by three.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
But their biggest heartbreak of all might have come ago
a week ago two when they were at Denver and
led by two with two seconds to play. Denver was
at the free throw line with just one free throw.
They intentionally missed it, got their own miss, and then
put it back in to tie the game, plus got
fouled the and one free throw was good in Denver,

(05:17):
won in shocking fashion sixty nine to sixty eight. Last
time out, Kansas City lost by six at Oral Roberts
and they went zero four on a road trip. And
now they come into tonight at two and seven in
conference ten and fourteen overall. The Bison are sixteen and
eight overall, still the second best record overall out of
any conference team. The only mark better would be Saint

(05:39):
Thomas at seventeen at six. Dave Richmond and his ball
club trying to make it four consecutive wins over Kansas City.
They lead the all time series seventeen to eight. This
will be the twenty six meeting overall, and ESU won
both games last year, which were both overtime games. Last
time here in January twenty twenty four, it was a
double overtime win for the Bison ninety to ninety one,

(06:01):
and then back in Fargo less February, they one in
single overtime. As we mentioned three weeks ago, seventy one
sixty four to the final when the Bison best in
Kansas City and the first matchup this season, the Bison
are back in their locker room. Kansas City is warming
up to our left, we're inside the Switty Center. This
is a small facility and one of the smallest in

(06:21):
the entire conference. Doesn't take too much to fill it
up capacity almost pushing a thousand. It's a part of
a bigger facility, which is the Wreck Facility on campus
for umkc's students.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
There's actually a track that goes around.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
The entire court where students can walk, lapse or run
should they please. So we'll see what type of crowd
we get in here tonight. But with the smaller capacity,
it doesn't take too much to get this atmosphere up
in underway. Junior Bison Club memberships are now available to
purchase for twenty five dollars. For more information, Wes at

should be a great contest, both teams hungry for a
victory in the Bison trying to get back into the
win column. We have a bunch more to come here

Speaker 5 (10:01):
What did you just say? We get to coach from
college basketball, We get to call from college basketball.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
That's what it's all about.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
And no excited, excited for our opportunity to Excited to
be around these guys and a great challenge. And you
know the respect I have for coach Menzies and is
you and Casey Rouss.

Speaker 10 (10:17):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Coach obviously, second of three straight on the road. You've
had a little bit of time in practice with the
group since Sunday's game at Saint Thomas. What have you
noticed from them and what's been worked on so far?

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Yeah, I think it's a group that it has certainly
had its eyes opened a little bit. But it's also
a group that understands we're a really damn good team.
You know, we're sixteen and eight and had some terrific
wins on the road, and I think sometimes you come
off a couple of losses, a couple of tough losses,
and you feel like the way of the world is
on your shoulders, and then you know things are just
steamrolling right, and the reality is this time, you know,

(10:50):
pregame here before this game. You know a week ago
we had won five straight and so there's just a
few things we got to continue to fine tune. Few
things we got to continue to get better at both
ends of the basketball, really truly and just move this
thing forward. This is a great group of guys that
love them. They're fun to be around, and it's all
part of the journey. Unfortunately, you're going to experience some losses.

(11:11):
It's the adversity that we're going through a little bit
right now in this little stretch.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
The coach, you've emphasized all of your long and obsession
with the details, looking at the defensive end with that lens, specifically,
what needs to be tightened up to close the gap there.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Yeah, I think there just needs to be that greater
understanding of the shots that we are. You're not okay
with any shot, right, you want to block every shot,
so to speak, and not let them get them off.
But they're just certain things with our personnel, the way
our scheme's built, the way college basketball is played, there's
certain shots that are lower percentages than others. That doesn't

(11:47):
mean they're never going to go in, and you just
have to stay the course and got to trust those things.
Even when they hit one of those lower percentage shots
and that might force you to, you know, that very
next time, that might force you to go and really
chase them off the line or something like that. All
that does is create a better shot for them later
in the possession. So I think it's continuing to understand,
not understand that we all understand the scheme, is continuing

(12:09):
to trust no matter those circumstances.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
When you look back at the first matchup against Kansas
City three weeks ago at home, I felt like that
was kind of an example of that. They shot forty
threes in the game at a stretch where they were
pouring them in early and often, but by the end
the percentage is sort of evened out thirty five percent.
Is that something you could point to the guys and say, hey,
you stay the course. Odds are we're going to be
all right?

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Yeah, one hundred percent, And certainly for anybody it's hard.
It can be hard to trust. You go back to
our game Sunday against Saint Thomas and they hit ten
in the first half. Well, they hit two in the
second half, right, And so that's just all it's all
part of it. And you know, percentages aren't just necessarily
weighed out through the course of an experiment. Sometimes it's
top heavy, sometimes it's bottom heavy a little bit. But

(12:53):
you're exactly right. They took forty threes, they made fourteen
of them. Fourteen threes made in a game is a lot.
But when you when you take that percentage, you take
the types of threes that they were making, you know,
those are the things that pay dividends over time. And
that that proved to be right. It proved to be
the right formula. The last time we played.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
The rust offensively. If you take out the Southern Illinois game,
last two games sixty two points, the lowest scoring outputs
of the season. What's the need to get the mojo back.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
Yeah, I just think that that's it, you know, come,
continue to move it, continuing to stay downhill and stay
on the attack and find the right threes. And I
think some offenses, you know, it's like hitting in baseball.
Sometimes it's a momentum thing and you're going to go
through stretches. And I don't believe there's an undefeated team
in college basketball right now, and it's just part of it,
you know, what needs to be you know, a part

(13:42):
of who we are today is our endurance.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
How are we going to respond?

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Are we going to let those miss threes from last
week effect this week? That can't be the case, and
that that's the case of a team that just thinking
still in the past, thinking about the wrong things. This
is a very very good shooting team, not just a
capable shooting team. It's a very good shooting team. And
we just got to see a couple go in and
find that rhythm.

Speaker 11 (14:03):
Again.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
We talked about it a little bit earlier in the week.
Coach only five free throws on Sunday against Saint Thomas. Obviously,
you've got a group that's talented from beyond the arc.
What's the balance in terms of finding good outside shots,
but then making sure you're attacking the basket.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
Well, I just again, I think so much of this conversation,
Sam is just about the recent And yeah, there's there's
some negativity that's happened. We've lost games, we haven't done
those things, but we've proven over the course of time
we've shot twenty five threes we've made or twenty five
free throws and we've made twenty two of them. And
it's just finding that consistency. It's understanding what a particular

(14:40):
defense is doing to us and adjusting to those things
throughout the course of the game.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Looking at Kansas City, they've lost seven in a row here,
number one scoring defense in the conference. What do you
anticipate from them tonight?

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Yeah, again, I think everything starts at the top. And
this is just such a well coached team. And you
know they've lost, they're almost finding ways to lose those
close ones, and you know how that you know that
is and practice, you're getting challenged and you're getting pushed,
and this is a group that no matter what, this
continues to play really really hard. They've got some lead

(15:11):
competitors and Brown and Foss and there's they're so well coached,
and and and they always give themselves a chance because
of the way they defend, because of the way they
rebound a little bit. And so again, like it's like
every time that we've played the rules over the last
how many how many years, it's going to be a
battle because of the way they play, because of the
way we play.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Coach always appreciate the time. Thank you very much, and
good luck.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
Thanks Sam, I appreciate it.

they're four and four. They're the only team of the

State at Kansas City tonight as the Bison look to
get back on track after dropping two games in a
row this past weekend, we'll take a look at tonight's

(24:32):
keys of the game as both teams make their final
preparations in the locker room. First key for the Bison
take care of the ball. That was a huge issue
on Sunday against St.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Thomas.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
The Bison turned it over fifteen times and there were
multiple self inflicted wounds just miscuse that the Bison could
easily correct on.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Their own accord.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
There were a few different times when players stepped out
of bounds without any prompting from the defense. That happened
about five times overall on Sunday against Saint Thomas, and
those dead bult turn overs where what they will get
Saint Thomas nineteen points off of turnovers, So we'll see
if the Bison could correct that tonight. The second one
would be find a way to win the class and

(25:11):
ESU is out rebounded on Sunday against Saint Thomas, and
they'll be going up against the Kansas City outfit that
is good at rebounding thirty five rebounds per game, right
at the same number for the Bison on their season average.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Dave Richmond has.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Challenged his team to be tougher on the glass, and
we'll see if they could deliver on that here tonight.
And finally for the bombs away Bison, we'll say, keep
letting them fly from three and make sure you.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Get off to a good start. They got off to
a slow start on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
They shot seven to thirty from beyond the arc last
Thursday against his DSU. We'll see if NDSU can get
the job done here tonight against Kansas City that has
the number one scoring defense in the sumven League. They
only give up sixty six points per game. That's a
top fifty defense in all of college basketball.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
The problem for them is they just haven't been able
to buster up the sixty seven the eight to sixty
nine points they would need in order to win a game.
They've lost seven in a row.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Both teams have come out on the floor the Biason
warming up to our right at their green road uniforms
trimmed in gold. Kansas City will be to our left
wearing their white alternate home uniforms. Then blue pinstripes trimmed
in sky blue as well, Kansas City across the chest
and the last names on the back of the shirts
as well.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Buys in our.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Nike school and Kansas City is in Adidas school. Crowd
is starting to file in. The pen band continues to
play behind us, and there should be a few hundred
inside the Swiitty Center here tonight.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Again a very small facility.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
It's basically the rec center where the students on campus
as well. There's some other basketball courts behind the Stands
center behind us.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
And that's where normal students can go and just play
some pickup ball. But here is where both the men's
and women's teams and the volleyball team call home. Inside
this head coaches for tonight's game Dave Richmond in his
eleventh season at NDSU two hundred and six wins against
one hundred and thirty nine losses. Marvin Menzi's in his

(27:10):
third season at Kansas City thirty seven wins against fifty
one losses. Here two hundred and eighty.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Three wins against two hundred and ten losses in his
fifteen season. Overall, both coaches have a ton of mutual
respect for each other. Richmond is four and one against
Benzi's in their five meetings that they've had dating back
to Menzi's first year and twenty twenty two to twenty three.
Both of these teams admire the way the other plays.

(27:36):
There's a ton of respect between the coaches who embraced
right now across from bus. A little handshake and they
bring each other in for a hug. Menzi's a veteran
head coach of college basketball. He is at a successful career.
He was at New Mexico State for a number of
years and took them to five NCAAA tournaments.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Then he went to UNLB. He was the head coach
of the Running Rebels for four years, and now he's
made his way to Kansas City where they're trying to
build a monster.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
That is their program motto. He thinks that if they
continue to invest in basketball here that they can build.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Something special in the Seventh League.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
We'll see if they have anything to say about it tonight,
and the Bason we'll look to come in here and
handle their own business there. First of two on the
road here in the Seventh League this weekend. We're that
much closer to tipball before we take our final time out.

for some Thursday night Seventh League Basketball game number ten
for the Bison and another one on the road, the
second and.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Three in a row away from home.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Bison are in their green road uniforms dripped in golden
white indis you across the chest, numbers of the center,
gold arrows down the side of the uniform and the
shorts Kansas City and they're home whites with thick blue pinstripes,
drimping blue, a darker blue on the numbers and a
thinner blue on the lt line and the O'Brien, Brian

(36:24):
Anslinger and Tarik Lucas are our three officials and we're
ready for the opening. Tam Noah Benderson will go for
the Bison at six foot ten, Melvidy Bunkie at six
foot eight, will go for Kansas City. Just waiting on television.
Decent crowds filed in signed the Swinging Center, which holds

(36:45):
maybe one thousand at its best, and they've got a
few hundred in side of the arena to watch this
Thursday night summit leak ball. A timeout coordinator is still
holding up her arm as everybody waits and watches the
players just standing on the floor, swaying back and forth,

(37:06):
shaking out any last nervous energy. It's always been close
as of late when the Bison and Ruse get together.
Two games were decided in overtime last year, and then
three weeks ago in Fargo, the Bison one seventy one
to sixty four.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
The officials are ready, players are ready. We're ready.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Hope you are too. Back at home, glad thats are
with us. We're underway in Kansas City. The opening tap
went by the Ruse, and they work from right to
left as you listen. Out top Cameron Foss left wing
Neary hands it off to gob Gom, the new point guard,
lunging on his pivot foot out top for FoST. Foss
hands it off to the eerie right side to the

(37:48):
high Postery Bunkally left wing for Brown. Brown driving inside
the arc shot clock down to nine. Foss left of
the key with seven, outside Gom with five. Gom It
starts his dribble, fires a long three, and draws a
whistle for a foul on the Bison. Foul on Jacurry White.
That'll be Jacurry's first and the teams first. In the

(38:12):
opening thirty seconds, Jacarry fouls Gob on a long three
pointer or late in the shot clock, and he has
three shots at the line left ninety percent at the line,
and he knocks down the first one beautifully. One to
nothing Kansas City. Gob Gob at the line left out
of Manchester, New Hampshire, a junior college transfer from Hill

(38:32):
College in Texas. He misses the second one more coming.
He got the start on Saturday at point guard. They
switch things up in the lineup. Then they switch it
up tonight with Jason Petty coming off of the bench,
last year's seventh League Freshman of the Year. Gob knocks
down the third one and he goes two for three
at the line. It's two nothing Kansas City and the

(38:55):
very opening minute Bison now having from left to right,
man de Mande by the Ruse, the number one score
defense in the league. Here's Jacurry White open three off
the heel, though good long rebound comes to Gob and
here come the Ruse from right to left. He whips
it left wing. Brown quick trigger three is good find
nothing start for Kansas City. Jamar Brown knocks down the

(39:17):
left wing three and the Bison trail. In the opening
sixty seconds, here's Jackson Money outside for the Bison, veering
to the left wing, picks up his dribble, hands it
off to Mason Miller. Miller pulls up the foul line
back out to Money is passing, accepted by Brown. Brown
into the front court, stops on the right wing to
the point for Gob left wing for Foss angles in

(39:38):
outside gob Gob drives right baseline wild past and nearly
catch and shoot three no good off iron rebound taken
by White, and here come the Bison.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Jakari.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
White in the front court on the left sideline, gets
around the screen from body, deals out to Watkins, looks
up at the rim and now starts his drill with
the left hand. Watkins right wing, bounces straight away Mody
right Watkins shot fake and drive right baseline out sign
White extra passing the corner for Miller and he knocks
down the three. Mason Miller nothing but pure nylon from

(40:10):
the left corner. Pocket and the Bison are on the board.
It's five to three with eighteen oh four to go
in the half. Great ball movement by the Bison. That's
the bombs away Bison type of offensive series.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
We like that.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
We've come to know Kansas City back in the left
side of the front court as the Bison d up
here with Brown left of the key and of the
post for e Bankale, Ebukale backing in on Feederson works
in the pain.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
He puts it up with the right hand and scores.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Seven to three Kansas City, and here come the Bison,
as Dave Richmond watches on from the bench deep in
the far left corner of the gym. Bison on the
opposite front court right, it's carry White dangling the dribble
left bout line extended top of the key.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Mooney.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Mooney thought about handing it off a Miller bounces to
White instead. White, with eleven on the timer, drives downhill
to the left block outside Walkin's extra pass Miller right
wing three on the way off the front of the rim.
No good rebound comes into the hands of Money for
a moment. He bunkily saves it though and finds Brown.
Kansas City transition Neery down to the left block neary

(41:18):
outside for Gob and they'll reset in the half court.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
We're three minutes in. The Bison down seven to three.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
Gob a rainbow three off the front of the rim,
no good long rebound to Foss and he'll trap back
out to the perimeter and of the Postery bunkly out
of a double team and he throws it into the
hands of Noah Pederson turn over on a steal by Lebison.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
There comes into su left to right. What can sing
clear things out?

Speaker 2 (41:39):
He comes high on the right side around the screen
from Money left elbow back to Money right in the
key Mooney dring it, dribbling it down on God on
the right baseline, stripped as he goes up, got his
own miss back inside against Neery Money with a left
hand hook and it's up and good Money with his
first basket of the day, and the Bison are within
two now. It's seven to five Kansas City sixteen nineteen

(42:01):
to go in the half, nearly in the front court
left hand off to gob skip past fast deep right
side three rattles halfway down and out and the Bison
get the rebound with Fetterson. There comes Indisu left to right,
Jacari White high on the left side, picked up by Brown.
Jakari around the screen behind the back dribble comes the
left baseline and the poster. Federson puts it up on

(42:23):
the right hand and scores Noah. Pederson knocks it down
to the lane his first wines of the night and
the Biason are tied up. Now it's seven to seven,
a mini five to nothing run or four to nothing run,
I should say for Eddsu a three from Brown in
the corner and he knocks it down. Kansas City off

(42:44):
to a good start from deep. They're now two for
five and they lead it again ten to seven. Dysu
with Watkins high and left top of the key for White,
White driving left of the lane, puts it up with
the right hand.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
And scores off the window.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
Beautiful taint by Jakari his first basket buys it back
within one ten nine Kansas City fifteen fifteen, remaining of
the half Brendan Watkins. It's some pain on defense, but
the Bison play on as Gob dribbles around a screen,
slips a bouncer verybunkily misses off the front of the
right handle. Good and the rebound to Jacari five minutes

(43:19):
saying buys it down ten to nine, and with the
ball Jacari inside for Watkins past deflected by Foss, Watkins
saints it off of Foss's knee and it bounces hard
out of bounce off of a fan who was walking
behind the play. Unfortunately, it hit the young band right
in the head. She's in some pain holding onto her head,

(43:40):
but I think she'll be all right.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
Just wrong place, wrong time, and it brings us to
the first media time out fourteen fifty four remaining of
the half buys it down ten to nine at Kansas
sne We're back in a moment. This is the Beyson
Sports Network from lear Field.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Congratulations to Mason Miller, who knocked down at three in
the early going for the Bison and that marked his
one thousandth career collegiate points. Third school for Mason, and
his college career started here in the state of Missouri
at Truman State and Division two school three hours northeast
of here. Then transferred to Indiana State for two years,

(45:51):
came to Fargo to be a Bison in his final
year of college hoops, and what an edition. He's been
the top three point shooter in the Summit League. Bison
at the ball as we resume action front court right
Miller out top around the screen from Mony drives the
left elbow, bounces out to Watkins left wing. Watkins working
on Baba card Diallo kicks in the right corner for

(46:11):
Javis Miller. Miller off of the bench, eight straight games
in double figures out top Mooney four to shoot Javis
Miller right wing. Three on the way, it's good. Javis
Miller knocks it down with a couple of seconds to
spare on the shot clock, and NDSU will take it
twelve to ten buys with their first lead of the night.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
Jamis with a downtown hint. He has been terrific as
of late, thirteen points per game over his last eight
Kansas City back in the front court, left Foss right
of the key, working on Watkins, hounding him on defense.
Shot clocked down to nine.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
Big shot fake by Jason Petty, jumps up left and
the lane kicks to near you right corner.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
Brown a three on the way. It's good.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Jamar Brown has the answer already, his ninth point of
the game, and he's perfect three three from long range.
Fourteen minutes to play Bison down by one, Miller a
corner three, no good long rebound comes into a handsome.
Petty chucks into the front court, deals back for Foss
and he'll circle out to the left wing. They reset

(47:14):
with Jyallo right sideline Neary back out top for Diallo
hadn't been their starting point guard, but now coming off
of the bench of the last two left of the
Key Foss left wing, Petty inside, Diallo tosses the Brown
he checked for three. No good this time rebound poked
off of Foss, but a whistle as he was over
the back of Derreck. Descent and that'll turn it over

(47:35):
the other way to the Bison. First foul on Cameron Foss,
first team foul against Kansas City and the Bison habit
thirteen twenty four remaining first half and su trails thirteen
to twelve. Watkin's left wing Money at the point, Money
around the screen from Mason Miller left foul unextended, backing

(47:56):
in on Neary left to the lane. Money with the
right hand dribbled into the paint, bounces out to Watkins
fires right side three long no good rebound fut four
and controlled by Brown tight on the baseline. Here comes
Kansas City right to left, Diallo into the front court.
Brown transition three on the way short off the front
of the rim. Rebound toots Javis Miller one and done

(48:18):
for Kansas City. The Bison back the other way, down
by one, Javis right of the key, working on Brown
Mooney posting up instead, he'll skip out to Mason Miller
on the volleyball line. Back to Javis with a backcut
right side, puts it up in scores off the window.
Miller time this time for a two. Mason to James
cutting underneath. Bison back on top. Fourteen to thirteen twelve

(48:42):
twenty six remaining of the opening half, and the Bison
have the lead here in Kansas City. Penny in the
right corner shot fake and Dry puts up a contested
baseline rudder, but then draws a whistle with some contact.

Speaker 1 (48:53):
It'll be a foul on the Bison. Bell goes against
the Bison on the baseline. Second team foul against NDSU,
and it'll be called on Mason Miller. That is Mace's first.
Jason Petty shooting two at the line left seventy six

(49:14):
percent and he misses the first off the back iron.
Bison will summon four new players here, Betterson, Luke, Kasuki
White and Stefano witz All coming into the game to
James Miller, Wivermin Mason Miller, Brennan Watkins, Derek set Jackson
Mooney go to the bench. Petty rattles out the first

(49:37):
or second free throw rather no good. He misses both
and here come the Bison, leading by one. White open
transition three is good.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
Jacari White knocks down the transition three and there's a
timeout on the floor by Kansas City seventeen thirteen Bison
Jakari knocks down the three and it's a mini five
nothing run as the Bison lead early here in kse.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
Nicely done by Adesu. Two mess free throws.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
By Petty, remount by the Bison. They found Jakari wide open.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
He was able to send his feet and take his
sweet time as he knocked down the three and the
Bison down leaded by.

Speaker 2 (50:18):

Speaker 2 (51:08):
Dave Richmond in the huddle with his team as the
Bison try and find a way to get a better
start in the game, and they certainly have done that.
Against Saint Thomas on Sunday, they.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
Were down twenty two to buy to start the ball
game and had a lot of work to do trying
to catch up and find their way back from as
many of a twenty two point depicite. They were back
within as many as eleven, but ultimately I ended up
losing it by seventeen. On the entire game, seventy nine

(51:54):
to sixty two.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
The final score in that one so twelve o nine
to go and the Bison that leads seventeen to thirteen.
Here in the first half, White, Stefano Witz, Javis Miller,

(52:21):
and Luke Kasuki the four guards on the floor. Noah
Venters in the one big for the Bison. They come
out in a little full court pressure as Kansas City
and bounds from right to left. They get it into
Diallo and he's picked up by James Miller and brings
it across the timeline from right to left. As you listen,
Brown made his first three threes. He's missed the last
two weeks three for five of the game best nine points.

(52:44):
Left wing Diallo hands it off to gob gob heads
out by Federson in the postery Bunkale whips it out
to Petty tend to shoot angles into the freight thrill Line,
spins around, bounces back e Bankolee puts it up on
the right hand, missed it short. Diallo's followed no good
rebound by Javis Miller. Here come the Bison with some
numbers to follow. It's on the left wing. Probing with
the dribble, finds Noah Feederson almost went to his shooting

(53:06):
motion clears as Kosuke and Kasuke takes it down on
the right side of the lane. He whips it back
to Pederson left of the key. Left wing, White Jakari
driving dribbling gives it up to Pederson, who goes in
and slams it down with two hands. Noah Federson raising
the roof. Here in Kansas City a big time dunk
and it's a seven to nothing run for the Bison.

(53:28):
They're up nineteen to thirteen with eleven o eight to
go in the first half. Wonderful John by the Bison.
They've kept Kansas City scoreless in the last two and
a half minutes. Got a miss three whistle as the
ball went out of bounds off of Kansas City last
and the Bison will take it going the other way

(53:51):
oh down on Kansas City and DeVante Hall will come
into the game for the ruse. Ten fifty eight remaining
in the half. Nineteen thirteen in favor of the Bison.

(54:14):
Stefano Witz high on the right side, picked up by
Hall left of the key, Federson left sideline, Miller top
of the key. Cassub Key threw it away to Brown,
who stole it as he goes on the front court
ducks it.

Speaker 1 (54:27):
Down with two hands.

Speaker 2 (54:28):
Nineteen to fifteen, now scoreless. Drown is stopped and the
Bison lead cut down to four, ten and a half
to play in a half. Stefano Witz, working on the
perimeter left of the key Federson Betterson clears into kasub
Kei Casuki out of the key. The Saint Louis Native
brings it over to the right wing, hands it off
to White, faces up on Foss behind the back Dribble

(54:50):
kicks it out into traffic and is knocked away into
the hands of James Miller. Six to shoot Javis over
to Stefanowitz left quarter. White, He'll fire the three, got it?
Jakari White knocks down his second tray of the half,
and the Bison deliver and a crazy sequence as they
take a twenty two to fifteen league and Kansas City

(55:14):
turned it over at the other end, so the Bison
will have it after the rules are trying to get
something going. In transition ten oh one to go, all
Marvin Menzies can do is stare up at the sky

(55:35):
and send a prayer with his hands in his pockets.
His team has lost seven in a row. They're down
by seven here. Jacari down to the block, puts it
up Benderson's wide open, and Noah scores with the right hand,
twenty four to fifteen.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
Byson Andysu up by nine, their largest lead of the half.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
Nine forty to play before the break, Brown on the
left wing gives it up to Hall right wing Foss
Foss jamming and now starts his dribble. A short pass
to Petty over to you bonkily left wing. Brown shot
clock down to ten. Brown pulls up foul line jumper
off the front of the rim. No good gremount controlled
by Federson and the Bison havebit continuing to keep Kansas

(56:16):
City at bay offensively.

Speaker 1 (56:17):
Jacurry White around the screen, dribbles down to the.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
Right side of the arc, switches directions back to his left,
hands it off Mason Miller left wing. White thought about
the three, rose to his tippy toes, and then drew
a whistle for a foul on Kansas City. He'll go
on Dante Hall, who was trailing to Curry on defense,

(56:40):
and that'll be the third foul against the Ruse. First
on Hall, who's coming off of the bench, the backup
point guard from Chicago. Twenty four to fifteen Bison, nine
zero eight to play in the first half. Watkins calls
the break, throws a football pass in for Fenderson and
No When the former tight end goes to the back
court to gather it, he comes to the front court

(57:01):
on the right wing, gives it back up to Watkins
with twelve to shoot. Watkins, the Kansas City native, brings
it down to the right elbow outside for Mony Money
with six to shoot. Mooney driving in puts him a
tough one banked it strong reboundy buckle Lee. Here comes
Kansas City Brown in the front court back to the trailer,
Hall right side, Foss deep three on the way off

(57:22):
the heel long rebound punched into the air and it's
scooped up by Brown on the halfway strike. Dave Richmond,
not happy with his team not getting the clear out
off of the rebound. Twelve to shoot down for Hall,
who drives and spins at the right elbow, fakes to
his left, passes it out to Foss, steps back with four.

Speaker 1 (57:43):
Hall with three. He creates space step back. Three is good.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Twenty four to eighteen, so eight o nine to go
in the half and the Bison lead cut down to six.
Straight away back to the right elbow, working against Brown,
picks up his dribble. Mooney Waiting bounces out to White.
White wants a screen and he'll take it to the

(58:11):
left side, driving kick Watkins left corner three bingo.

Speaker 1 (58:15):
Brendan Watkins knocks it down for the left corner.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
Already the fifth may three and a half for the Bison,
and the leader's back to nine twenty seven eighteen. That
one will silence the swingy center here in Kansas City.
Seven thirty two to go on the half buys him
back on defense. Haul on the big court logo left
of the key, Hall switching directions right wing.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
Foss, jamming with seven to shoot, bounces into the Posty
bunkily finds Hall cutting underneath the basket, misses his lamp
underneath the basket, got his own miss and then puts
it up good for two twenty seven to twenty seven
point lead for the Bison. Seven o eight to go
in the half. Here's Watkins high on the right side.

Speaker 2 (58:59):
It's the y Jacari white Jakari working on brown right
left found line, extended back door bounce pass intercepted by Petty,
and here comes Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
Another turnover by the Bison.

Speaker 2 (59:11):
That is their third Haul working the point, tribbling with
the left hand, shielding off Watkins with his right. Now
he has a screen left from a Bunkale switches back
to the right elbow, pulls up, kicks up a follow
a jumper No Good off the left side offense the
rebound Brown rotation around the arc as they reload.

Speaker 1 (59:29):
Here's Haul right wing, right corner.

Speaker 2 (59:30):
Foss attacks right baseline, spins and skips Petty left corner.
Three rattles around No Good and the rebound Defederson six
twenty five remaining in the half. Bison Lee twenty seven
to twenty Watkins left wing. Watkins switches back and brings
it out to the key right wing White White will
fire the three, it's short and the rebound taken by

(59:52):
ebunkal leeve. This game continues to move back and forth,
free flowing. The Bison lead by seven on the road
twenty seven to twenty, with so far remaining before halftime,
It's Hall right in the key crossover, Dribble moves into
the paint and a whistle'll hate traveled with it travel
by Hall.

Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Bison will have it when we come back five fifty
eight ago and a half, twenty seven to twenty Bison.

the first half of Kansas City twenty seven twenty Bison
on the Coaches Choice scoreboard and ESU leads Kansas City

(01:01:51):
by seven. Sam Nierman with you court signe, thank you
for spending part of your Thursday night with us Bison.

Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
I'm led by as many as nine in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
They trailed in the very early going, but they took
the lead at fourteen thirteen and they have not looked
back since. They have shot the three ball well, and
that is what we've been accustomed to seeing here for
this bombs away Bison ball club.

Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
They went into a little bit of a cold stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
They made thirteen on Sunday against Saint Thomas, still thirty
nine percent right of the season average, but they got
off to an zero for five star very slow and
had to battle their.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Way back into the rhythm of things. And now you
look at the way that they've shot here tonight against
Kansas City, much more of what we saw on the
non conference stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Five out of ten so far for the Bison. From
long range, Bison have it from left to right five
fifty remaining in the half and at the su x
seven Boney right of the key, working on e bunkle
Lee drives him down to the right block, working with
a left hand dribble, shielding him off with the right
fore arm, rolls to his right, pivoting backing in, puts

(01:03:02):
it up with the right hand, follow a hook no
good off the window, offensive rebound descent. Bison have it
on the left corner. They'll reset to the high left
side of Watkins high post Moony Money facing up straight
away three.

Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Bulls eye Jackson Money so versatile. First, he was working
down on the post.

Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Then he knocks down a dead ei three the sixth
and the half of the Bison, and we're up by ten,
thirty to twenty five, nine to go in the half.
Here's Kansas City front court left. Pull up Jumper Brown
Good Jamar Brown with his thirteenth point. He's got thirteen
of their twenty two and the Bison lead at thirty
to twenty two, four fifty six to go in the half.

Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
Moany right in the key.

Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
Jackson, working on a five point night, faces up jams
with the right foot drives, He buncally to the right baseline,
puts it up and backs it in off the window.
Counted plus the foul. Jackson money with the hoop in
the haarm an old fashioned three point play as the
Bison extended to lay to double digits thirty two to
twenty two. Nicely done by Jackson, six foot ten native

(01:04:13):
of Fargo. Seventh point of the half, and he'll have
a chance to get his eighth with the and one
free throw eighty four percent on the year, and he
missed it off the rim a couple of times, and
off the backboard and off the rim one more time.
Byson down. Excuse me up by ten for forty to
go in the half. Ebonkily in the high post left
he boncally pumping, pivoting, hands it off to Brown, right

(01:04:37):
Foulin extended whips it left wing Foss Foss pull up
three off the front of the rim. No good rebound
statched by Javis Miller and the Byerson habit from left
to right, and a whistle, a whistle as one of
our officials is not happy with some words that were
exchanged between I believe one of the Kansas City players

(01:05:00):
against the Buyson Derek Dessette was clapping his hands as
if he stood his ground and didn't retaliate. Arvid Betzi's
not happy as well. Time out on the floor. We'll
take it as well. For twenty four remaining.

Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
In the half.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Our score of the Bias at thirty two. Kansas City
twenty two is the Bison Supports Network for Warfield.

While the Bison are up by ten, offense has been
clicking against the Kansas City defense that ranks number one
in the Summit only allowing sixty six points per game.

(01:07:12):
The Bison have six different players who have scored a
basket in the early going. Jakarie White with eight points,
including two to three pointers. Jackson Boney seven points, three
of five from the floor and a three pointer. Noah
Fenderson is perfect from the floor at the moment, three
for three with six points. To Javis Miller is also

(01:07:34):
perfect from the floor with five points. The Bison shooting
sixty five percent thirteen of twenty overall, six of eleven
from downtown fifty four percent. As well, they have nine
assists on their thirteen made baskets. Meanwhile, it's a different
story for Kansas City. They've been a one man show.
Jamar Brown is keeping them in it. He has thirteen
points the lead all scorers, including three three pointers. But

(01:07:55):
the rus are shooting just thirty four percent from the
floor and four of thirteen from long range. They shot
forty threes in Fargo in the first meeting between these two,
they hit fourteen of them thirty five percent. Right now,
the officials are on the scorers table on the far side.

Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
They are reviewing some sort of.

Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
Exchange that caused the stop agin play. Before we went
to commercial. NDSU had the ball and they were dribbling
into the front court. Then the official blew his whistle.
It's a stop play and that's enough. We'll take a
time out, Derek des said for the biason started clapping
his hands. My guess is that one of the Kansas
City guys was trash talking, saying something. The official didn't

(01:08:48):
like it. He wanted to cut it off, and then
they came to the monitor. They've been reviewing it ever since.
Are coming back out from their huddle, and Kansas City
is huddled up on the floor as well. Looks like

(01:09:09):
the officials have an explanation for everybody. Regardless, the Bison
are going to have the ball and be up by
ten with four to twenty four to go in the half.
Marvin Menzie's not happy, thank you very much. That was

(01:09:29):
Tarik Lucas, one of our officials. They changed the shot
for the Bison from a three to a two moments ago,
so they take a point off the board for NDSU.
It's now thirty one to twenty two. Bison's still in possession.
Here's NDSU with Money three on the way off the

(01:09:51):
rent no good high Missus knocked around and then eventually
controlled by Brown.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
And here come the Ruins with Diallo high on the
right side.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
I left the key Foss high Posty Bonkoly Eboncoe with
a pass fake bounces into the paint for Foss pivoting
to his right, puts it up and banks it in
high off the glass. Thirty one to twenty four. Lead
down to seven, but the Bison is still on top.
With three forty nine to play in the half. Watkins

(01:10:20):
on the right wing three points in the game back
in his home coming to Kansas City left foul ont extended,
bakes the pass, whips it right wing. Jabis Miller Javis
facing up on Brown, puts it over to Money on
the right side of the arc, backing in on Diallo,
he's in a double team, bounces out Mason Miller five
to shoot left side Watkins.

Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
He dribbles in the lane, bounces for descent, and the
ball is deflected out of bounds off of the Bison last.
It'll go the other way to Kansas City three twenty
five from in the half and the Bison lead thirty

(01:11:02):
one twenty four three nineteen remaining as the ruse coming
to the front court, you bonkily left elbow, hands it
off to Neari. Neary slashes into the lane, kicks out
to Diallo and the point guard will back it out
high on the right side. Only ten on the shot clock.
Neary right corner of three.

Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Air ball rebound grab by Brown and a whistle for
a foul. Fowl will go on the Bison, and we'll
go on Brennan Watkins. That's a third on the Bison.
First off, Brennan and Brown will be at the line
left shooting two. Basketball and banking have a lot more

(01:11:45):
in common than you might think, like experience coaching in trust,
we are your friends and neighbors, people you can count
on First Western Bank, and trust you can bank on
us Brown's first free throw is good. He's eighty seven
percent at the free throw line this season and that
makes it third.

Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
One to twenty five. Bison lead is six with three
to zho one to play in the half.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Petty comes in near he goes out for the ruse
Brown with one more coming. He's got fourteen points in
this first half. As the head band on dribbles a
few times, Ben's knees puts it up and it's good.
Thirty one to twenty six. Bison lead down to five
with three zero one remaining in the half and Hesus

(01:12:30):
scoreless the last two minutes. Let's see if they can
get something going on the front court.

Speaker 17 (01:12:34):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Watkins on the mid court logo around the screen from
Mony moves left wing left corner Miller. Mason Miller that is,
brings it out to the left side of the key.
He'll drive left to the lane and hook it out
to Money, who's open. Extra pass. Betterson driving dish high
pass to Miller outside. Watkins fires a three off the heel,
no good rebound gathered in by Mony reload for the Bison.

(01:12:56):
Money banging down to the paint wide. Basse almost lost
his footing and he didn't lose his footing. He's whistled
for the travel. Turn over by the Bys, and that's
their fifth of the half. Nan Kansas City takes over
with two twenty nine to go in the first thirty

(01:13:17):
one twenty six Bison, two twenty four to go in
the half Diallo right Bolin extended the left hand ribble
bounces to Petty. He'll tee up a three and it's
off the rim the glass and no good rebounds, say
by Bunkley, intercepted by Pederson, and here come the Bison.
Watkin's up the floor left to right, finds Money, right
wing pitches back to Miller outside for Watkins shot fake

(01:13:38):
in drive, spins the left elbow, brings it underneath the
left baseline, back out for to Javis Miller. They'll reset
under two to go in the half Bison by five
thirty one twenty six Money at the point around the
skate from Javis Miller.

Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
He'll pull up right side three nylon Jackson.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
Money splashes it from downtown Jackson with his ten point half.
Excuse me, they'll actually make it his ninth because he
had the three that was turned into a two earlier,
and it's now thirty four to twenty six, one thirty
four to go in the half. Year's Brown bounces to
Bunkley left hand. Finish is good, thirty four to twenty eight,

(01:14:16):
Bison by six one five counting down on the first
half clock. Watkins high on the right side, one nineteen
remaining out top for Mony Money thought about in the three.
Now he'll drive down to the right elbow looking for
a pass, clears out to Watkins. Watkins right elbow back
out to Money Money left wing. He'll fire another three.

(01:14:38):
It's a bad miss on the right side this time,
and the rebound taken by Brown. One minute remaining in
the half, Bison Lee thirty four to twenty eight. Diallo
walks it across the timeline, picked up by Miller to
Brown on the left wing.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Brown holding in his right hip fifteen points.

Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
And he'll drive down on the right base line or
excuse me, the right elbow kicks up a jumper.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
It's good.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Brown with his seventeenth point and it's thirty four to thirty.
Bison lead down to four with thirty four seconds to
go in the half, and ESU can hold for pretty
much the final shot if they won seven second difference
between game and shot clock. Watkins at the point right wing,
Javis Miller's shot fake baseline drive, wrap around pass, Mason

(01:15:24):
Miller corner three, no good, rebound, grab my moony. Bison
having fifteen seconds to go in the half, and Dave Richmond.

Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
Says, hang on to it. We want the last shot.
Shot clock is dark seven seconds. Javis Miller right wing,
Jabis driving baseline right in, shot is no good, saves
it out to Watkins, fires a three on the buzzer.
It's Gord Gredan. Watkins knocks it down as time expires.
Here in the first half, Davis Miller drived in, saving

(01:15:54):
it at the last second, and then Watkins set his
feet out of the left wing, nails the three and
the Bison take a thirty seven to thirty lead into halftime. Wow,
they'll check the monitor to review it, but it should
be good.

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
He got it off with plenty of time to spare

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Let's take a listen back to the first half action
with our bud Light first half highlights. DSU trying to
bounce back from two consecutive losses. They would trail five
to nothing in the early going, but they got a
three from Mason Miller, which marked his one thousandth career
collegiate point, that made it five to three. Bison would
ultimately rally back. They knocked down a three to take
a twelve to ten lead. They would continue the run

(01:20:37):
and continue it in the form of a seven to
three run to get on top. After a big slam
by Noah Pederson left wing White Jacari driving dribbling gives
it up to Pederson who goes in and slams it
down with two hands. Noah Pederson raising the roof here
in Kansas City. A big time dunk and it's a

(01:20:57):
seven to nothing run for the Bison. They're up nine,
ten to thirteen with eleven o eight to go in
the first half seven straight for NDSU, and you heard
the score. They led by six. Then after that, Jacari
White got in and the bombs away. Bison starting to
fight their stroke from downtown. Kicks it out into traffic

(01:21:17):
and is knocked away into the hands of James Miller.
Six to shoot. Javis over to Spano. It's left corner. White,
He'll fire the three.

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Got it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
Jacari White knocks down his second tray of the half
and the Bison deliver and a crazy sequence.

Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
As they take a twenty two to fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
League Jakari knocking down one of seven made threes in
the half for the Bison. And how about the hometown kid,
Brendan Watkins from Carney, Missouri. You're in the Kansas City area.
He knocks down to three as well. White wants a
screen and he'll take it to the left side, driving
kick Watkins left corner three, Bingo, Brennan Watkins knocks it

(01:21:56):
down for the left corner already the fifth may three
of the a half for the Bison and the leader's
back to nine twenty seven eighteen. Bison would get another
three point play the old fashion way, Jackson Money getting
it done on the block. Jackson, working on a five
point night, faces up jams with the right foot drives.
He buncley to the right baseline, puts it up and

(01:22:17):
bex it in off the window. Counted plus the foul.
Jackson money with the hoop in the harm an old
fashion three point play, potentially as the Bison extendedly to
double digits thirty two to twenty two. Unfortunately, Jackson would
not cash in on the free throw, but he did
finish with nine points in the half.

Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
The Bison would get a buzzer beater.

Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
From Brennan Watkins to end the half, and that is
where we stand with a thirty seven to thirty Bison lead.

I'm Sam Niederman. I hope you're having a wonderful Thursday night.
Thanks for spending it with us. The Bison by seven
at the break. We'll hear from coach Luke Stragi in

(01:28:32):
just a moment, but before that, let's pause ten seconds

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Yeah. Shut.

Speaker 35 (01:29:01):
It helps when the ball goes in, doesn't it. You know,
only twenty eight possessions for both teams. That game are
really really grinder, physical, physical basketball game, and the officials
are just letting everybody go.

Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
So we're gonna have to adjust to that.

Speaker 11 (01:29:12):
You know what.

Speaker 35 (01:29:13):

they're gonna les go, We're gonna have to play.

Speaker 35 (01:29:18):
It was good to see the ball going, especially that
last shot for Brennan there at the bush.

Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
That's a big one defensively, Coach, how do you contain
brown and just make sure you keep them on the
on the down load in the last twenty.

Speaker 35 (01:29:27):
Yeah, it's a great question. So we can't get too
far away from, you know, our principles. So you can't
you know, extend and do things that you don't normally
do to take it one way one guy, because then
you know, it's a house of cards.

Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
Everything else falls apart.

Speaker 35 (01:29:39):
We might have to throw a couple of different looks
at them and just make them, you know, think once
or twice that that something else is coming, maybe a
trap on a ball screen or something like that once
to get out of his hands. But primarily you're gonna
see the same stuff. We just gotta do it better.

Bison lead Kansas City as we get set to start
the second half, and SU did a good job for
the most part on the rebounding battle. They're only down
by one fifteen to four, but they have allowed six
offensive rebounds to Kansas City, a team that has crashed

(01:31:02):
pretty hard on the offensive class over the years. They
average just under twelve offensive rebounds per game. We'll see
if NDESU can cut that number here in the second half.

out rebound into the hands of Brown and Kansas City

(01:32:11):
clears a rare wide open miss for Mason. Here come
the ruse God down to the right block, layup contested,
no good rebound by Fetterson, and here come the Bison.
Six rebound of the game for Noah and NDSU on
the run with Money on the right block, posting up
on Brown, seals him off. Lost it underneath the basket,
now picked up by Ibankales crammed in a double team

(01:32:32):

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Will be a foul on the ruse. Oh no, I
want Cameron Foss. That's his second team's first here in

met in a double team, a tie up, and a

on the second chance the Bison make them pay. Seventy
four sixty four, two seventeen remaining and a timeout on
the floor thirty seconds to the Bison. Great job by

(02:14:27):
Jacari White, just his thirteenth point of the game, five
of them coming here in the second half, but he
knocks down a huge three, his third of the game,
the twelfth for the Bison, right on their season average,
which is number two in the country. And some of
the Kansas City fans are already starting the parking lot

(02:14:53):
in DSU. With a ten point lead.

Speaker 2 (02:14:58):
Dave Richmond calls the timeout to make sure everything's in
order on defense. The way this Bison team has come
out tonight, they have looked like they're old cells.

Speaker 1 (02:15:09):
Offensively, and that has been a sight to see.

Speaker 2 (02:15:11):
And they have also held down this Kansas City offense
that has only shot forty one percent from the floor.
A lot of tough looks. Good job on both ends
by the Bison. Two fifteen remaining Bison by ten, seventy
four to sixty four.

Speaker 1 (02:15:27):
Here's Brown on the left wing.

Speaker 2 (02:15:29):
Brown driving down to the right block, pounding it into
the pain, fakes a pass, now falls away, misses everything
off the backboard. Noah Fenderson with his tenth rebound. That's
his second career double double. Now seventeen points and ten boards.
He had one earlier against USD. He's got one to
night in Kansas City. James Miller driving in no good
off the window. There comes Kansas City Hall driving in

(02:15:50):
to the front court on the left wing. Back out
to Foss, back to Hall. Hall inside the arc. They'll
move it out to the perimeter once again into the lane.
Likes to go one on one, kicks to Diallo right wing.
Brown tough three on the way and he knocks it down.
Twenty six points for Jamar Brown, and now it's a
seven point game, one twenty eight remaining, seventy four to

(02:16:12):
sixty seven. Bison have it. They're gonna need a few
more baskets and free throws to close this one out.

Speaker 1 (02:16:18):
One nineteen to go.

Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
Bison leads seventy four to sixty seven to Javis Miller.
I'm a big core logo working on Foss around the
screen from mony twelve to shoot.

Speaker 1 (02:16:29):
He clears to Money with nine. Money driving down one
on one with Foss.

Speaker 2 (02:16:33):
Buyson clear out Money looking to close with four, gets
into the lane, spins around follow Aj no good rebound
fut for safe by Derek the set and they'll say
it's actually out of bounds. Derek, great effort, but it's
out of bounds off the Bison. Kansas City gets it
with fifty six seconds. Fifty six seconds to go, Bison

(02:16:55):
by seven. Big defensive possession here for Ndsu. Hall come
into the front court, moves over to the left, drives
down underneath the basket. Diallo right corner. Three good and
a timeout taken by Marvin Menzie's in Kansas City. He's
a four point game, seventy four to seventy. Timeout on

(02:17:19):
the floor and we'll stay right here.

Speaker 1 (02:17:23):
Full timeout by Kansas City with forty four point eight
seconds to go. It's a miniature six nothing run for
Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (02:17:33):
The Bison are up seventy four to sixty four after
Jacuri's big three, but then they had a three from
Brown and now the three from Diallo, who barely takes threes.
He's made three of them tonight, and he's made it
a four point game, seventy four to seventy Bison, forty

(02:17:54):
four point eight seconds remaining. Both teams are in the
bonus one more and Kansas City gets in the double bonus.
The Bys have nineteen fouls, seventeen fouls on the ruse
possessionario favors Kansas City. The Buison have two timeouts remaining.
Kansas City with one time out remaining. Foul trouble Foss

(02:18:16):
has four for Kansas City and Pederson has four for
the Bison, three on Boney for the Bison as well,
three on e Buncle League and Brown as well for
Kansas City. And he has you in the huddle with
Luke Stringy drawing up the play on the clipboard. Make
sure that the Bason can get the ball in effectively

(02:18:38):
and safely here after the made basket by Cac, they'll
set up a full court press.

Speaker 1 (02:18:46):
Then we'll see if the Bison can make sure that
they break it. Otherwise we're going to be in for
a hectic finish all right.

Speaker 2 (02:19:00):
Here we go Bison lean by four, seventy four to
seventy forty four point eight seconds remaining. Bison will get
bound from right to left, and they line up four
guys on the baseline to Jamis Miller, will or Jakari White.

Speaker 1 (02:19:15):
Rather, we'll start with the ball. Everybody runs around.

Speaker 2 (02:19:17):
He gets it in for Brennan Watkins and he is
quickly found by Diallo with forty three point nine seconds remaining.
So the foul on Diallo will be the eighth team
foul against Kansas City, and that means the Bison in
the bonus will still have one in one at the
line left. It will be Brennan Watkins, who's an effective
free throw shooter at eighty one percent. Back in his

(02:19:41):
hometown from Carney, Missouri, just up the road, He's got
friends and family watching in the stands as he prepares
for the one and one knock down, a buzzer beating
three to close the first half. Has not scored here
in the second fren end of the one and one,
Brennan puts it up is good, knocks it down cool

(02:20:02):
as you like. Seventy five seventy Bison. He hit huge
free throws at Santa Clara and the nineteen point comeback
win back in November two, with four tenths of a
second to go to tie the game and send it
into overtime and the unregulation. His second is good and
he knocks them boat down to make it a six
point lead for the Bison once again, seventy six to seventy.

(02:20:24):
Brandon will go out. Derek Deset comes in and Kansas
City inbounds from left to right. They bring it in
the hall. All rushes up the floor into the front court,
driving in on the set behind the back.

Speaker 1 (02:20:35):
Dribble moves out, tosses to Foss.

Speaker 2 (02:20:38):
Foss driving right in the lane, spinning on his pivot foot,
trying to find a tough follow a jumper, no good
short rebound by decent and the Byson have it. He
bunkally with no choice but to tag Derek with a
foul and that'll give it back to NDSU at the
free throw line with twenty seven point eight seconds to go.

Speaker 1 (02:20:56):
That's the fourth on e bunkal Lee, the ninth on
Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (02:21:00):
One in one for Derek to set and the Bison,
who lead it by six with twenty seven point eight
seconds to go. Derek a much improved free throw shooter,
fifteen out of twenty seventy five percent this year. Front
end is no good off the back iron rebound by Brown.
Here comes Kansas City Haul driving in left side layup.
No good, but he's fouled by Feederson with twenty two

(02:21:23):
and a half seconds remaining.

Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
Kansas City bench wants a goaltend. They're not going to
give it.

Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
It'll be the fifth personal on Federson, so that means
he's fouled out and he'll have to go to the
bench for the last twenty two and a half seconds
of regulation. Tenth team foul on NDSU that means double bonus.
The officials are reviewing it at the monitor as well
to check for a potential goaltend. Noah kind of went

(02:21:51):
up with two hands against the backboard, his body clipped
hal who didn't have much space to work with on
the baseline. It was like you in a sarcophagus down there,
just no no room for him against the six foot
ten Vetterson. Meanwhile, Lebiason will have to force along without Noah,

(02:22:11):
who has had a valiant effort tonight, seventeen points and
ten rebounds on a perfect eight of eight shooting.

Speaker 1 (02:22:20):
We'll look in the record book and see.

Speaker 2 (02:22:23):
Where he stands as far as most makes without a miss,
but he would tie the record for best field goal
percentage in the game, minimum of eight attempts at one
haul with two free throws, line right, and he makes
the first seventy six seventy one.

Speaker 1 (02:22:41):
He's eighty one percent of the line and he hasn't
missed so far.

Speaker 2 (02:22:46):
Tonight. Here's the second. It is good, seventy six seventy two.
Bison lee down to four twenty two and a half
seconds to go. James Miller inbounds on the baseline, shuffling
it rolling right, gives it up to Jacari White trapped
in the far corner, and he's tagged by Brown for
another foul.

Speaker 1 (02:23:04):
Foul on Brown, and that's going to be his fifth.

Speaker 2 (02:23:07):
He has found out of the game with twenty seconds
to go, So Kansas City's top player, Jamar Brown has
found out of the game. He finishes with a double double,
is eleventh of his career, twenty six points and twelve rebounds.

Speaker 1 (02:23:23):
Meanwhile, the Bison will go to the line left and
shoot two. It'll be Jacari.

Speaker 2 (02:23:30):
Who is eighty four percent on the season and two
of two tonight buys an eight of ten at the
free throw line as a team. Some confusion as the
officials are trying to make sure the Bison are able
to sub or not able to sub, and they will

(02:23:50):
let them sub.

Speaker 1 (02:23:52):
Brendan Watkins will go out. Derek Desat comes in two
shots coming for Jacari White and the Bison, who leads
seventy six to seventy two over Kansas City twenty seconds
to go. Jaccari's first three throw was good. Seventy seven
seventy two. Dave Richmond.

Speaker 2 (02:24:13):
Instructing his team as Jacari puts up in the second
it is good, just was able to get the shooters
touch six point. Leads seventy eight to seventy two. Clock
is running eighteen seconds. Here's haul for Kansas City down
lowing the Pink kicks it out for near he left
wing three over everything no good. Diallo's put back is
no good. Rebound fought for Money had it for a moment,
and then a whistle for a travel on Money in

(02:24:35):
the Byson. With eight point seven seconds left, Money had it,
but falling down losing his balance, so the Bison turned
it right back over.

Speaker 1 (02:24:44):
But Kansas City doesn't have much time.

Speaker 2 (02:24:46):
There's only eight point seven seconds left and the by
isn't lead by six, and Dave Richmond wants a time out.
He'll spend his second to last a thirty second time out.
He was barking over to the officials to make sure
that he could get it called, and Ndesu will huddle
things up and try and make sure they're on the
same page to defend a six point lead with eight

(02:25:08):
seconds remaining. Well, this one has taken every single second,
but the Bison have a chance to get out of
Kansas City with.

Speaker 1 (02:25:23):
The wind and get back in the week column.

Speaker 2 (02:25:28):
And go to Omaha on Saturday feeling good and trying
to sweep a road weekend. Eight point seven seconds to
go and Kansas City and bounds underneath the basket, buys

(02:25:51):
it by six. Hall gets it into the corner for
Diallo seven seconds, throws it away on the bench and
that should do it.

Speaker 1 (02:25:59):
He threw it away.

Speaker 2 (02:26:00):
It's a turnover and the Bison will take over with
five and a half seconds to go, six point lead
for Ndysu.

Speaker 1 (02:26:08):
Kansas City squanders with session.

Speaker 2 (02:26:10):
They get it in for Brennan Watkins and how fitting,
the hometown kid will dribble out the final seconds on
the clock. Buzzer sounds and it's good night Kansas City.
The Bison are back in the win column seventy eight
to seventy two, the final score as they knock off.

Speaker 1 (02:26:27):
The Ruse here on the road. That's the Bison team
that we know and love.

Speaker 2 (02:26:35):
They come on to the road and Kansas City Trail
in the very early going, but they lead for over
half an hour and they win it. Closing things out
here in the Switty Center. Seventy eight to seventy two.
We'll have the ring electric postgame show and wrap it
all up when we return. It's the Bison Sports Network

Speaker 1 (02:29:22):
Jacari keep flying in here. He is on the left
wig He'll pull up a three is God. Jacari knocks
down the three at a time out. Take it by
the Bison. That's a big one from Zacari.

Speaker 2 (02:29:34):
On the second chance, the Bison make them pay seventy
four sixty four. That is how it sounded down the
final stretch here in Kansas City as the Bison win
it over the Ruse on the road, seventy eight seventy two.
The final score. It is a Rick Electric postgame show.
Glad that you're with us. I'm Sam Niederman. Bison victorious tonight,

(02:29:57):
A big three by Jacari White that came off of
an offensive rebound by Jacuri. He came flying in on
a miss three, came back out, knocked down the second chance,
and that would prove to be enough. The Bison made
their free throws down the stretch and they get the
job done, seventy eight to seventy two, the final score
in DSU back in the win column, now six and

(02:30:20):
four in Summit League play. We're now joined court side
by coach Richmond. Coach, congratulations, big win tonight. Trailed early
but then led the rest of the way. What'd you
like about it?

Speaker 5 (02:30:32):
Yeah, sick of all those negative questions you asked me
pre game, right, We got to fix that, and you know,
really proud of our guys. I mean it, it's hard
to compartmentalize some things, it really is.

Speaker 30 (02:30:41):
Sam.

Speaker 5 (02:30:41):
It was only eight days, you know, prior to this,
that we had just rattled off five in a row.
This is a very good basketball team that I'm fortunate
enough to lead and coach. And you saw that today
wasn't pretty all the time. You knew it wasn't going
to be against the Kansas City team that MUCKs it up.
They're physical, They made some big shots just really proud
of our guys for finding.

Speaker 1 (02:31:00):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (02:31:01):
Coach, you look at offensively, twelve more made threes, shot
fifty six percent from the floor, and the big three Jacari,
Noah and Jackson really led the way.

Speaker 5 (02:31:12):
Yeah, big whatever number, you know, that's what I'm just
How about Noah Pederson? Yeah, you know, NOELH. Federson's had
a week, right, and he had a week two really
think about a lot of things, and he obviously did
some deep thinking about you know, how talented he can be,
what he means to this team. And I could not
be more proud of a young man right now, seventeen
and ten on the road, eight for eight. You know,

(02:31:32):
his mentality, his urgency, his aggressiveness was just you know, terrific.
And then you know, I think it's about we talked
pregame about trusting it. You know, they shoot under under
thirty percent from three. One of those is a bank
bank in there, So you know, I got I thought
our guys stayed the course pretty much, and we defended
pretty well. And it's a great victory, you know, and
we need to build some confidence out it. We obviously

(02:31:54):
know we got a tremendous challenge Saturday afternoon.

Speaker 1 (02:31:56):
What was going through your head when Noah turned around
and banked one in for his eighth mate shot at
eight atteps.

Speaker 5 (02:32:01):
Great job, don't do it again, right, And you know,
and he knew it too. But I think when you're
feeling it like that, and there's a kid who didn't
attempt a field goal on Sunday at Saint Thomas, and
so you know, part of me is just so excited
to see, you know, that spirit back in him, that
confidence to even take that shot in the first place.

Speaker 1 (02:32:19):
How about Jackson again tonight coach twenty four points on
ten of eighteen.

Speaker 5 (02:32:23):
Yeah, he's he's not a bad little player, right, And
from you know, by all accounts I heard, there was
a bunch of scouts that we're supposed to be here
and here's another young man and I think it was
maybe just a little bit of food poisoning, but I
mean he's throwing up at halftime. And we talked about
being a pro, like there's a lot of things going on,
and we have empathy for everything that's going on, but
when you step in the lines, you have an obligation

(02:32:43):
to your teammates, to yourself, to north Dakota State University
Men's basketball to respond, and Jackson did that.

Speaker 1 (02:32:48):
Our entire group did it.

Speaker 5 (02:32:49):
It was a fun forty minutes.

Speaker 1 (02:32:51):
Cannot wait for Omaha on Saturday. Coach, congratulations again, Thank
you very much.

Speaker 30 (02:32:55):
Thanks so.

Speaker 2 (02:32:56):
Coach Richmond here with us postgame as the Bison win
it seventy eight to seventy two, the final score now
joined by our Notak Insurance Company Player of the Game,
Jackson Money Jackson, congratulations. First off, Coach told me had
a little sickness that you had to deal with at
the half. How you're feeling, and it clearly looked like

(02:33:17):
it wasn't an issue for you and your teammates.

Speaker 36 (02:33:18):
I mean, I'm feeling way better now that we won.
But again, I'll credit to my teammates and coaches for
just putting me in a position to be successful. And
I know I got a couple of things to work on,
but they really kind of picked me up to and
just told me to be me.

Speaker 2 (02:33:31):
So what was the mentality Jackson for you and your
teammates coming into this one, coming off of a couple
of tough ones. Know you have a chance to reset
for the back home stretch of the season and you've
got to come on the road. How much edge did
you guys want to bring and how much do you
think you delivered that tonight?

Speaker 36 (02:33:47):
I mean, for sure, I know that we dropped two games,
and in this league, just got have a quick, quick
mindset and going on against the next one. And I
think just for us was just to have that dog
mentality to go out there and just be the tougher
team and come out with the win.

Speaker 1 (02:34:00):
And I know that.

Speaker 36 (02:34:01):
I mean, they got a couple more offensive rebounds that
then will we would like them to have. But I mean,
you can't complain with the win.

Speaker 2 (02:34:08):
What can you say about Noah? He goes perfect from
the floor, eight for eight and his second to last
one was a turnaround bank shot in the lane late
in the shacklock. You're smiling right now. I think everybody
was up on the bench after that one. Noah, all right,
it's Noah's night. It's probably gonna be our night too,
No for.

Speaker 36 (02:34:25):
Sure, And I'm just happy for him. I know coach
challenged him after our last game and I thought you
were spying well, I mean, seventeen and ten, you can
I mean, that's that's going perfect from the field. I
mean I mean he went out there and did his job.
He was an anchor for us, and ultimately we won
because of him.

Speaker 1 (02:34:41):
So quite the response, my friend Jackson, we appreciate it.
Thanks so much. Go enjoy it. Thank you, Thank you, Jackson.

Speaker 2 (02:34:47):
Money here with us court side as NDSU wins it
seventy eight to seventy two, the final score over Kansas City.

Noah Pederson with a night to Remember, seventeen points on
eight of eight shooting. He was perfect from the floor,
not a single miss. He also had ten rebounds. That
makes it his second double double in a couple of

(02:41:13):
weeks for the Bison, second of his career as well.
With Noah going eight for eight, he is now tied
for the all time mark as far as players to
go one hundred percent from the floor in Bison history
in a single game minimum of eight. Makes the last
time that a player achieved such a feat, you would

(02:41:35):
have to go back to two thousand and twelve when
Marshall Bjorklyn did it twice in the month of December.
He did it once against Morehead State, going eight for eight,
and then did it later on in the month after Christmas,
going eight for eight against South Dakota State. A couple
other notables who have done it in Bison history as well,

(02:41:55):
Michael Tweet who did it against Northern Arizona in two
thousand and eight and nine for nine. Mark Gibbons had
a nine for nine game in nineteen seventy three against
Concordia Morehead. Lance Berwald had a twenty for twenty game
against Augustana in nineteen eighty four. That is the all
time mark for makes without a miss. Joe Regnier had
an eleven eleven eleven for eleven game against und in

(02:42:19):
nineteen eighty seven as well, So plenty of good company
for Noah Pederson with his eight for eight game tonight
for the Bison. Great to see for Noah, as coach mentioned,
it was a little quiet against Saint Thomas on Sunday,
but bounce back in a big way here tonight. Before
we keep moving forward, let's pause ten seconds for station identification.

Speaker 2 (02:45:34):
To thirty lead in the halftime. A big moment earlier
in this game, Bison went by six. They get three
at the buzzer in the first half for Brennan Watkins,
making a homecoming back here to Kansas City. The Carney,
Missouri native had eight points on the night, including a
pair of three pointers and that one at the first

(02:45:54):
half buzzer.

Speaker 1 (02:45:55):
Great save by to Javis Miller. Brennan had to hoist
it up and he did. So and NDSU was up
thirty seven to thirty at the break. They win it
seventy eight to seventy two over Kansas City. Here tonight
in the Sweaty Center.

Speaker 2 (02:46:07):
Sam Peterman back with you to wrap things up by
the Rick Electric postgame show, Let's take a look at
our final numbers. NDSU shot fifty six percent from the floor.
They were twenty eight at of fifty tonight. They were
twelve of twenty five from downtown forty eight percent. Four
Bison made multiple threes tonight, three three pointers from Jackson
Mony and Jacarre White, two three pointers a piece for

(02:46:27):
Mason Miller and Brennan Watkins. Noah Pederson made his only
three point attempt.

Speaker 1 (02:46:32):
Of the night as well.

Speaker 2 (02:46:34):
NDSU had fifteen assists tonight, right up on their season
average fifteen assists compared to just eleven turnovers individually, Jackson
Moony twenty four points on ten of eighteen shooting, fifteen
points for Jacurry White, and a career high eight assists
in the game for Jacary great to see for him
from a passing standpoint, and then Mason Miller nine points.

(02:46:57):
He had his one thousandth career point and the very
early going of the games. Congratulations to Mason on that. Brennan,
as we mentioned, had eight points. Noah Pederson, as we
talked about earlier, seventeen points, eight of eight perfect from
the floor, one of one from downtown, ten rebounds as well,
good for a double double to Javis Miller five points
off of the bench as well as for Kansas City,

(02:47:19):
they were led by Jamar Brown, who had twenty six
points and twelve rebounds double double before fouling out. Melviny
Bonkly had eighteen points as well on eight of eleven shooting.
The Bison held the Ruse to just thirty or forty
one percent from the field, twenty nine percent from three
point range, eight of twenty seven, and fourteen of eighteen
from the free throw line, So a few more free

(02:47:42):
throws for the Ruse, but that was rather academic when
it was all said and done. NDSU out rebounded by
the Rus thirty to twenty seven. Kansas City had twelve
offensive rebounds in the game, one of the few advantages
that they had in any of the stats. Tonight. Bison
had a three to twenty eight advantage in paint points.

(02:48:02):
Bison led for thirty three minutes compared to Kansas City's
six minutes. They led by as many as fourteen. They
win it by six, just like the end of is

That's going to do it for us here tonight in
Kansas City. The Bison with the win, improved a seventeen
and eight on the year, six and four in the summit.

(02:48:46):
Next up, they'll take on Omaha at one pm on Saturday.
Afternoons are nine to one in conference. They just won
tonight on a buzzer beater against und to keep their
hot streak going. The Bison will look to get some
revenge after losing the first meeting in Fargo back in January.
At one o'clock tip off, we'll have pregame beginning at
twelve thirty. Meanwhile, Kansas City, they've dropped to ten and

(02:49:07):
fifteen on the year. They've now dropped eight in a
row in Summit League play. They're two and eight overall
in league. Next up for them, they'll host You and

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
