Speaker 1 (00:54):
Good evening everyone, and welcome to Brooking, South Dakota. Tonight,
the North Dakota State Bison venture into enemy territory as
the herd visit their arch rivals to the south. It's
North Dakota State and South Dakota State and a Wednesday
Night Summit League show down inside a brand new first
(01:15):
bank and trust a RITA. Good evening again, everybody, and
welcome courtside to another night of Bison basketball. I'm Sam Niederman,
Glad that you're along with us. Hope you've had a
great week so far. We have part two of this
rivalry between NDSU and SDSU, and the Bison will look
to avenge a loss in the first meeting against the
(01:38):
jack Rabbits that came back on January the thirtieth in Fargo,
seventy two to sixty two. The final score SDSU best
of the Bison and snapped what was at the time
a five.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Game winning streak for NDSU.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Well, the byzon that bounced back, and they check in
at eight and five in Summit League, played nineteen and
nine overall, with a chance for their twentieth win of
the season. It would mark the first time the Bison
have won twenty games in a year since twenty and
twenty two. Meanwhile, South Dakota State is eighteen to nine overall.
They are nine to three in the Summit League, trying
(02:13):
to jockey their way into potentially a top two seed
down in Sue Falls for the Summit League Tournament. Both
of these teams come in playing pretty good basketball. The
Bison have won three of their last four, including winning
their last two at home last weekend, both in overtime
against Oral Roberts and Denver. The Bison went back to
(02:34):
some shades from last year, when they played six overtime
games and earned the nickname the heart Attack herd Well.
They played in their third and fourth overtime games of
the year this season, and they were able to prevail
in both. They won on Thursday against Oral Roberts ninety
four to eighty eight. They won on Saturday against Denver
eighty nine to eighty four. The Bison got great offense
(02:56):
from Jacari White and Jackson Money, who are starting to
play their best bastet bsketball at the right time. Both
of them went for over thirty points and Thursday's win
against OREU, with Money leading the way with thirty two points,
matching his Bison career high. He also had the game
tying basket at the end of regulation to send the
game into overtime. Meanwhile, Jakari added thirty points. Both of
(03:19):
the players had career milestones on that night as well,
with Mony scoring his two thousandth career point and Jacari
scoring his one thousandth career point. They became the first
duo and Bison history to go for thirty plus points
in a game since Ben Woodside and Brent Wiklman back
in February of two thousand and nine. That was the
(03:39):
last time the Bison and a pair of thirty points scorers.
Those two, of course, just inducted into the NDSU Athletics
Hall of Fame and were on NDSU's first ever NCAA
tournament team in nine as well. The Bison are hoping
that could be a good sign of things to come.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Those two would lead the way.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
On Saturday against Denver Jackson Money had twenty seven points
and seven assists. It was his thirteenth game scoring twenty
or more points, his eighth game with five or more
assists this season, and Jacuri continued his hot streak as well.
He had twenty three points against Denver and the season
best four steals on the defensive end. Over the last
(04:20):
five games, Jacari is scoring or twenty three points per game,
shooting fifty five percent from beyond the arc twenty two
out of forty, and he is sixty five percent from
the floor. Overall, they have certainly been the dynamic duo
for the Bison, and they come into tonight as two
of the top leading scorers in the Summit League Money
averaging twenty a game, which leads the league, and Jacari
(04:43):
at sixteen points per game. He has eighty one threes,
which is best in the Summit League as well.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
South Dakota State. They have been pretty hot.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
They started Summit League play at one to two, but
they have gone eight to one since, with their only
loss coming the game after they beat the Bison in
Fargo on February the first. They went up to Grand
Forks and they lost to und eighty to seventy five.
Un d just shot the lights out of the arena
that afternoon. They shot sixty eight percent in the first
(05:12):
half and that would key them to the victory. They're
the only team that has beaten the jack Rabbits over
the last five weeks or so. The Bison will try
and do that here tonight. We're inside of brand new
First Bank and Trust Arena. This used to be Frost Arena,
one of the most historic gyms and all of the
Summit League, but they renovated it in the off season
(05:33):
and now it has a new name. It is still
on the same location, but they've upgraded part of the facility,
which also houses SDSU's athletics offices. The teams have new
locker rooms as well for both the SDSU men's and
women's programs respectively. The brand new court is right below
us as well. They have the old court on display
(05:55):
on the wall when you first come into the arena.
It's actually pretty neat. It's got that signature orange tent
that's been weathered after fifty plus years of use. Frost
Aina was opened originally in nineteen seventy two and as
we know, a very difficult place to come down and
win here in Brookings It doesn't matter the name, it
doesn't matter the renovations. This has been one of the
(06:17):
most difficult places to win and all of Summit League
in mid major basketball. In fact, South Dakota State currently
is number one in the country with the nation's longest
active home winning streak. The jack Rabbits have won sixteen
straight at home. That is tied for the nation's active
longest streak with both Saint John's out of the Big
East and Saint Thomas here in the Summit League as well.
(06:40):
The last team to win here in Brookings Well, it
was the North Dakota State Bison. DSU did it on February,
the first of twenty twenty four. Last season, they came
down here and earned the program's first win in Brookings
since two thousand and sixteen.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
In dramatic fashion.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
The Bison won seventy four to seventy three in over time.
Noah Petterson had the game winning tip in, and it
was one of the more memorable victories of last year's
season for the Bison On the hardwood. They'll see if
they can do the same here tonight, up against a
team that is charging towards the top of the standings
who just happens to be their arch rival. We'll dig

Welcome back inside the shack Here at Bargo, it's NDSU,
Welcome back to Brookings. We're counting down to tip off
as the Bison visit South Dakota State. Here tonight, we're
chatting with Coach Richmond Pregame as we get set for
tip Coach, great to see you Wednesday night and the
(10:37):
first DOT our walk down Rivalry Road this week.
Speaker 14 (10:40):
Yeah, it's this is you know, I mean, obviously this
is a challenging week, but this is a really exciting week.
And if I've learned anything Sam, it's it's you know,
when you are uncomfortable, whether you know it in the
time or not, when you're facing adversity, when you know
it in the time or not.
Speaker 9 (10:55):
Those are tough moments, make no mistake.
Speaker 14 (10:57):
And you know, tonight at seven pm, for the course
of forty minutes, we're gonna be some really tough moments.
But those are learning opportunities, those are growing opportunities and
That's what we're excited about for tonight, like to be
in a great environment against a very good basketball team
and get challenged and fight, compete and put ourselves in
a position to win this damn thing.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
There's only a couple more weeks left, and we'll be
in Sioux Falls before we know it.
Speaker 9 (11:20):
When you talk.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
About growing and taking teaching points from games, you could
look back to last week, a pair of overtime games.
You can look back to Butler Santa Clara overcoming a
big deficit. How would you say the variety of scenarios
that this group has been in can help prepare them
for late February March basketball.
Speaker 14 (11:38):
Yeah, you know, and it's certainly a valid question, Sam,
And I think as I reflect on doing this now
for eleven years, it seems like throughout the course of
the season, you experienced about everything, and we've experienced, you know,
the lows of blowing a league like at Bakersfield. We've
experienced the highs of being down eighteen and coming back
and winning an overtime against Santa Clara, and you know,
(11:59):
blowing a town point lead against Butler, but still find
in a way, you know that this past weekend where
you know, I, you know, were we great?
Speaker 9 (12:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (12:07):
I think, you know, I don't want to make too
much of this. I think we've played pretty good basketball
for the most part. Could we be in a little
bit more consistent in some stretches, Absolutely, But I think Denver.
Speaker 9 (12:16):
And or you are vastly improved basketball teams.
Speaker 14 (12:18):
And so, you know, it's it's finding ways to win
basketball games. And that's a big, big thing. And you know,
we're on the verge. You know, we're sitting here at
nineteen wins. We're in the verge of twenty wins. I'm
in major basketball. That's a tremendous, tremendous mark, Sam and
so is there still a better version?
Speaker 9 (12:33):
Damn? I hope so. And I would be saying that
thing if we were twenty eight and old right now.
Speaker 14 (12:37):
And that's just the way we've built this thing in
a process, and tonight is a certain certainly a tremendous
opportunity to be uncomfortable, be challenged and grow and strive
for better.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Or whenever it's North Dakota State and South Dakota State,
you know it's going to be a great battle. First
game was back at our place at the end of
January seventy two, sixty two. Would you take away from
that one and what stood out when you reviewed it?
Speaker 14 (12:59):
I mean, again, this is just a South Dakota State
team that's pretty, you know, very similar to the teams
of the past, where like and I say, this is
a complete compliment. This isn't a flashy team, This isn't
just like one of your just elite's going to be
a Final four.
Speaker 9 (13:12):
This is just a really good basketball team.
Speaker 14 (13:14):
And certainly Oscar Cluff is a tremendous anchor, Joe Siler
is a tremendous park But they just got really good parts.
And you have to go out and beat the jack rabbits.
And to me, like, before you can win, you have
to eliminate losing. And and I thought in particular our
offense in Fargo, we had some losing plays. You know,
we made a mistake before we let them make the mistake,
(13:34):
and we've got to fix those things as we move forward.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
You mentioned Oscar Cluff.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
He's obviously one of the most dominant big men in
mid major basketball at the moment, with eighteen double doubles,
seven games of twenty points fifteen rebounds. He's certainly made
an impact on the defensive end against us in the
first meeting. How can you attack the paint when there's
that type of rim protecting presence there.
Speaker 14 (13:57):
Yeah, and I think too again, Oscar's a good rim protector.
I mean, certainly there's better, but I just think sometimes
that size immediately, you know, we talk about you can't
see ghosts, right, it's there, make no mistake, but.
Speaker 9 (14:09):
You can't just be soft.
Speaker 14 (14:10):
And you got to continue to attack it and you know,
put your chin into their chest and be physical. And
I thought we did things, did some of those things.
Speaker 9 (14:16):
The other thing that.
Speaker 14 (14:17):
Makes Oscar really good defensive players he just simply finished
his possessions.
Speaker 9 (14:20):
I mean you just mentioned his rebounding numbers.
Speaker 14 (14:22):
And you know, a big part, a huge part of
being a very good team and a very good defensive
team is your ability to finish possessions by rebounding.
Speaker 9 (14:30):
To basketball and Oscar Club does that very well.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Jakari White Jackson Money were quite the tandem over the
weekend of the two home wins. They both went for
thirty against Oral Roberts again twenty and twenty plus against
Denver on Saturday. Was what allowed them to execute and
really look comfortable out there.
Speaker 14 (14:48):
Well, I just think that's who they are. I mean,
they're very comfortable players. You know, they're very talented players,
I should say, and they've gotten comfortable in their roles.
I think that's part of what you're seeing this time
in February and again, I think they'll be the first
to tell you there's some of all their parts.
Speaker 9 (15:02):
I mean, the floor space, the screening situations.
Speaker 14 (15:04):
That are happening to allow them to do those things
and go out there and execute in a high, high clip.
Speaker 9 (15:09):
I mean, they they were tremendously.
Speaker 14 (15:11):
They were tremendous for us in particularly on the offensive
end for us this past weekend of Fargo.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Andy stefano Witz is going to get the call in
the starting lineup tonight.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Coach.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
He's done that once before, back in December. Big opportunity
for the freshman.
Speaker 14 (15:24):
Great great opportunity for for Andy, for us, and you know,
just shake things up a little bit, you know, it's
it's certainly I just mentioned it multiple times. It's my
job at times to challenge the room and to make
them uncomfortable.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
This isn't a knock against Brendan Watkins.
Speaker 14 (15:37):
This isn't to say that Andy Stefano Witz is going
to be the savior to our program down.
Speaker 9 (15:41):
The stretch, and that that's not that that's on it.
It's just a little bit of a shakeup, and you know,
put put what I think and in particular.
Speaker 14 (15:48):
Time scoring situations and the guys that are going to
help continue to move us forward, and certainly Brennan's going
to be a big part of that. Andy's coming off
a really good performance I thought against Denver. I'm excited
for for Andy, excited for Brannan, excited for all of
us here this evening.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
What other emphasis have you put in this game, coach
keys Wise, for what will allow your team to come
out with the win?
Speaker 14 (16:07):
You know, again, I just think it's it's really big
that we have to block, tackle and not get penalties
and and and I say that with a little bit
of tongue in cheek, but also it's it's the damn
truth from a.
Speaker 9 (16:17):
Standpoint of like, you you have to beat South Dakota State,
and you can't.
Speaker 14 (16:22):
You can't beat them if you're going to beat yourself,
and we've got to be on point. I think one
of the things that you know, we've talked a lot
about is consistency. We've talked a lot about being able
to execute in game adjustments and in game assignments.
Speaker 9 (16:33):
You know, is in increasing our value beyond just the
box score.
Speaker 14 (16:37):
You know you, I mean, you've mentioned it countless times
about Jacari and Jackson and how those numbers really stand
out in the box score. Well, there's a bunch of
other little things happening in the course of a game,
on the floor of the game, on a particular possession,
and it's those things that we got to continue to
fine tune and be consistent with as we finish up
down to stretch.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Coach always appreciate the time. Thank you very much, Good luck.
Speaker 9 (16:58):
Thanks Sam, I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (17:00):

to pack in this newly renovated venue. The student section
is to our right and it's about seventy five percent full.
They have the Pep band next to them as well.
Part of the renovations inside of this facility were to

Speaker 2 (17:45):
There are suites at.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
The club level that overlook the high end of the
court across from us. There's a mid level suite as
well that's rather open that provides a really good view
right down the middle of the court. There's a suite
over to our left, and there's a suite to our
right the students. That way, they can kind of hang
around and enjoy some food and get up and move
during the game as well. So they have put some
(18:08):
good bells and whistles into this facility, and the Bison
are gonna try and play spoiler and become the first
team to win on this home floor this season. NDSU

the moment, South Dakota State has won sixteen in a row,
which is tied with Saint John's and Saint Thomas for

February of twenty twenty four. He had the game winning
tippin in a one point overtime victory for the Bison.
Head coach for DYSU is Dave Richmond, two hundred nine
wins in one hundred and forty losses in his eleventh

the first of two rivalry games away from Fargo. It'll
be SDSU tonight and und on Saturday. And and they
come in here and spoil the nation's longest active home
(35:13):
winning streak sixteen in a row for South Dakota State.
Last team to beat him on this floor was North
Dakota State. We'll see if they can get it done
here tonight against their arch rivals. Nobody has won inside
of this newly renovated building so far this season. Bison
are looking to leave a blemish before they hit the
(35:34):
road and venture up north.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Back home on Night twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Bison will be in their home white uniforms despite being
the away team tonight, trimmed in green and gold NDSU
across the chest, green side arrows down the side of
the pants, South Dakota State and their home blues trimmed
in yellow Jack Rabitson's script across the chest. Our three
officials tonight, Chris Beaver, Tucson Grig and Mason Syler. We
(35:59):
are we are all set for some rivalry basketball here
at Brookings, North Dakota State at South Dakota State.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Ready to play for the two hundred and thirty eight time.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Ball is up in the air and the opening tap
controlled by SDSU. They move from right to left as
you listen. Mando man d by the Bison in the
front court. Owen Larson, true freshman dribbles kicks Siler right side,
three off the back gy an no good rebound controlled
by Noah Fenerson, and it's an opening stop for the Bison.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
They move from left to right as you listen.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Manda man d by South Dakota State one of the
best defenses in the Summit League, holding opponents to just
forty two percent from the floor. Bison started with Jacari
White on the right wing, fires a three clanks no
good and the rebound taken by Jackson, the freshman for
the jack Rabbits. He lops to Matthew Moore's deflected by
Jacari and he saves it to Mason Miller. Here come
(36:51):
to Bison back the other way from left to right,
Jacari left wing, driving down and now he'll bring it.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Back out to the ark.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
He throws it to Jackson Money left of the key
he's spinning on Moors, drives down to the lane, puts
it up from eight and connects Jackson Money with a
nice first shot. Bison had the first basket to nothing
and ESU on top with a two to nothing lead.
Here in Brookings, it's South Dakota State. From right to left,
(37:18):
they go into the post for Cloff facing up on
Fetterson Pederson trying to take him on one on one
as Cluff moves into a double team. So the final
with them with some help and a whistle for a travel.
The big fellow walked with it. It'll be a turnover
going the other way to the Bison. Well, there's an
adjustment in DSU decided to go one on one with
Kloff in the first meeting, and he had twenty three
(37:40):
points on ten and fourteen shooting, not to mention fifteen rebounds.
We'll see if they continue to throw different looks at him. Tonight,
White drives in. He's open. He lays it up good
with the left hand. Jacari for his first point. He
went in uncontested, and it's four nothing Bison just over
ninety seconds gone. Larson at the free throw line, right wings,
Siler lops it in for Cluff, catches on the right baseline.
(38:03):
Betterson has help if he wants it. Cluff dribbles out
of it, kicks the siler. Siler down on the right block,
bounces back in for Cluff. Lost in a moment, and
then he was able to put it up with a
left hand good four to two. South Dakota State Lyn
its first points and the Bison habit the other way.
It's Fedterson holding out top clears of the freshman point
guard Stefano Witz, just his second career start up to
(38:25):
the middle logo for Jackson. Money brings the dribble over
to the right wing, hands it off to Jakari, drives
into the paint, kicks Jackson's wide open.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Four to three, A little long rebound batted in the air.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
It's loose. Andy's got at the timeline. A reload for
the Bison. Jackson right of the key, working on Mores,
shields him off, spins, pumps a pass, holds the dribble
and now gives it up to Stefano which shot clock
down to ten, top of the key. Three, No good
line drive, missing the hands of Pederson outside Jakari. Third,
time's a charm, no off the back iron and a
whistle for a foul over the back on Mony. It'll
(38:57):
go the other way to the jack Rabbits. Look like
NDSU had an opportunity there. They had two offensive rebounds,
two wide open threes, Andy and then Jacurry, but they
couldn't quite knock it down. Meanwhile, the foul called over
the back on Jackson money. That'll be Jackson's first and
the game's first overall. Seventeen twenty two to go. Here
in the half, here's Jackson on the left wing. He
(39:20):
pulls up for three and he rattles it down. Jayden Jackson,
the true freshman making his first career start, has given
South Dakota State it's first lead in the game, five
to four. Jack Rabbits. Just diin't signed. Three minutes gone
to the half. Stefano Witz flashing under the basket, circles
out to the perimeter. Petterson over for money, back to
Stefano Witz. Stefano Witz back between the rigs. Stefano Witz
(39:41):
keeps the dribble, pulls up right wing, beats the post
for Moony Money on the right baseline, jamming on Moores
holes on the left hand. He dribbles in the lane
with five to shoot, puts it up, falling away right
and he knocks it down off the window. Jackson Money
with his fourth point, buys him back on top six
to five. Here's Jackson on the right wing four south
(40:01):
Dakota State to the foul line back to Moors fires
a three no good long rebound knocked around and controlled
by le Bison. And here they come from left to right.
Jacari in transition left of the key, behind the back
Dribble circles around the screen from Mony gets Downhill, finds
Pederson right short corner, tosses to Mason, Miller stumbling and
hooks it back for Pederson top of the key. Moony
(40:22):
Money with a shot fake and a drive, kicks us
to Fanowitz. He drives in, tosses to Jakari back outside
for Mony seven on the timer. Money driving in with
the left hand, puts it up with the right and
banks it in six early points for Jackson. Money and
the Bison have an early eight to five lead. Here
in Brookings nice tape by Jackson working nicely down Lowi's
(40:44):
three of his first four from the floor. Here's Jayden
Jackson forced out Dakota State pivoting around left hand finished,
no good puts it up again, No good.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Rebound, clawed out, wrenched out by.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Noah Pederson, and a whistle for a tie up possession
arrow will favor North Dakota State. It takes us to
our first media timeout fifteen forty six remaining in the half.
A break in the action with our score, the Bison
eight shut Dakota State.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Five is the Bison Sports Network from lear Field.

First Western Bank, and trust you can bank and on us.
Back here in Brookings Bison eight, South Dakota State five
on the Coach's Choice scoreboard, fifteen forty six remaining in
(42:39):
the first half. Glad that you're with us. Sam Niederman
here at court side, Buison onto a good start. Jackson
Mooney has six of the first eight points for a
DSU mony, three of four from the floor, and this
is a much more encouraging start for the Bison star
Against SDSU, he was just seven of twenty from the
field in the first meeting, one of eight from three
point range, taking the ball down low and getting some
(43:02):
nice looks on the interior. I Meanwhile, the Bison also
finishing possessions as well. They've capitalized with a few defensive
rebounds despite Oscar Club's best efforts. He likes to back
the ball into the air, trying to keep possession of
line Bison. I've done a good job grabbing onto it
with two hands, so we began half of the time out.
But Brendan Watkins off the bench, did not start at
(43:22):
point guard for the first time this season when he's
been healthy and available. He brings it from left to
right into the front court. Derek Dessette has checked in
off the bench as well. Jackson Mooney driving on cluff
to the left. Hash Mark picks up his dribble, Waits
zips it to Watkins right wing, back to Money, tosses
back to Watkins, Watkins left wing, Mason Miller his three good.
Mason Miller knocks it down, nothing but Nett and just
(43:45):
like that, it's eleven to five in DSUs seven. Nothing
stretched for the Bison. Here Stony hadd not in, the
freshman for South Dakota State, picks it up in the
mid post, skips it out for Dayton Jackson or right
of the key. Here's Larson Larson working on Money. It's
six foot two on six ten as the point guard
drives in, puts up a contested layup, spins off the rim.
No good rebound, tipping in the hands up had not
(44:05):
Bison did not secure it.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
Second chance for the jack Rabbits.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Waterson left corner, drives on the baseline underneath against money
outside Jackson straight away three ray glassmiss rebound, grabbed my
klof and he puts it back in.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
Easily eleven to seven.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
Oscar Kluff with his first basket a signature offensive rebound
for the six to eleven Australian and now on the
Bison lead, trimmed a four. Here's Watkins left in the
keys circling out left corner. Mason Miller drives pass silent,
puts it up on the right hand and a whistle
four a goaltend. It'll go against Stony had Not who
knocked it against the backboard, and that'll be two points
(44:41):
for the Bison. Mason Miller with his fifth point had
not definitely touched it after it hit the glass, and
it's thirteen to seven Bison. Good job by Mason Miller
with the drive from the corner and he draws the goaltend,
so the lead back to six for NDSU. In the
early going, fourteen twenty four to go in the half
Siler on the left wing, he had nineteen in the
(45:02):
first matchup against the Bison, Ray Corner Larson.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
His three is good. Owen Larson knocks down.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
The second three in the game for South Dakota State
and we have a pause on the floor as the
official stop play to readjust the net. Thirteen to ten,
now Bison still by three, fourteen fifteen remaining in the
first half. Siler goes to the bend SODA's klub Damon Wilkinson,
their backup center, checks in six foot ten Rechard freshman
(45:29):
from desmet South Dakota, and Isaac Lindsay checks in as well,
one of their reserve guards six foot four out of
the state of Wisconsin, transferred into the Badgers after a
few years in Madison. Here's Watkins driving left foul line extended,
gives it up to Mony deep three on the way
boom Jackson money from downtown. He connects from distance. That's
(45:49):
nine early points for Jackson and in sixteen to ten Byson,
thirteen fifty remaining in the first half. Lindsay on the
left wing, driving in left of the block, hooks it
out for Wilkinson. Wilkinson at the top of the key
hands it off to head not steps back behind the
arc clear to Jackson inside Wilkinson. The freshman spins to
his right, met by a double outside passed picked away
(46:09):
by Jakari, but then regathered in by Larson.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
He loops itto Jackson. Shack clocks down to five.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
Here's Jackson with two faintaway jumper off the front of
the rim. No good rebound, not to the perimeter. It's
still loose and the Bison habit Jackson. Money has it
Bison from left to right now with Watkins speeding in
the front court gives up to Money driving in hard
money left block extended one on one with Wilkinson dribbling
with the right and he got him to knock him
(46:34):
down on the shoulder. A whistle for a foul on Wilkinson.
A job by Money taking the freshman ducking under his shoulder.
He was one on one of the posts and Wilkinson
had no choice but to tag him. That's the first
on Wilkinson, and it'll be the first on South Dakota
State thirteen twelve. Remaining in the half, Bison lead sixteen
(46:58):
to ten. Imbound on the up baseline, Watkins finds to
Javis Miller, who subbed in off the bench, and a
whistle in the left corner and some confusion on the floor.
The officials are discussing something and they're gonna have the
Byson reimbound the ball. Brendan Watkins looking looking, finds Javis
(47:23):
in the left short corner, faces up on had not,
drives into the lane, kicks it out. Watkins on the
right wing zips it to Mason Miller deep three on
the way. No good worry bound snatched out of the
air by Wilkinson. Here comes South Dakota State from right
to left. Larsen in the front court, veering around a
screen from Wilkinson on the right side of the lane.
He dribbles down to the right baseline, zings it out
(47:44):
for Hadden, extends with his wingspan to catch it around
the screen from Wilkinson down into the paint spins, puts
it up from six An Kannecks Stoney had not the
true freshman with his first basket, and now it's sixteen
to twelve buys in by four twelve thirty three remaining
in the first half to Jameis Miller on the right
(48:04):
sideline inside Noah Fetterson dribbles and puts it up, miss
it off the window, puts it back up on the
left hand, no good and a rebound by Wilkinson. Two
tries for Noah, he could not convert. Here comes South
Dakota State Jackson on the left side of the ark.
Jackson over for Lindsay. Lindsay on the right side, now
high post for Wilkinson. Wilkinson hands off for Larson Larsen,
(48:25):
spinning on his pivot foot, drives to the right foul
line extended zings it for had not sideline three clank,
no good, rebound lu Kasuki. Bison make the stoff and
the su from left to right. Under twelve to play
in the half, leading by four. Mason Miller on the
left boul line outside Brandon Watkins catching shoot three no
off the back iron rebound to Wilkinson, and here comes
(48:47):
South Dakota State. The Bison two of eight to start
from downtown. Jackson to three good and it's sixteen to
fifteen Byason Lee trending down to one. Here comes South
Dakota State. They have scored five on it answer and
there's eleven thirty two remaining.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
In the first half.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
Bison have been scoreless for almost the last two and
a half minutes. Watkins on the right wig back to
Federson left side to Javis Miller.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Jamis driving into the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
James still keeping the dribble as he tosses out to Federson.
Five on the timer Jamis left wing. Three, got it.
Jameis Miller knocks down the three and the Bison needed
that one.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
It's nineteen fifteen, good guys.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
With eleven zho five remaining of the first half, it
was kind of desperate out on the perimeter. Jamis threw
it up and he knocks it down his first points
of the game. Larsen pull up two off the heel,
no good rebound. Fuck four loose on the deck, scrapping
Ford Wilkinson and now a whistle for a tie up
possession arrow will favor South Dakota State. Time out on
(49:49):
the floor. Ten fifty one remaining in the first half.
A break in the action with our score the Bison nineteen,

Bison So far.
Speaker 1 (51:37):
Fifty percent from the floor eight of sixteen, three of
nine from downtown and is you just got a big
three late in the shock box room to Javis Miller
that snapped a near three minute scoring drill. Jackson Boney
with nine points to lead the Bison, Bason Miller with
five as well. Tonight's game also brought to you in
part by bud Light, proud sponsor of India as You Athletics,
(52:00):
butt Light, easy to drink.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
Easy to enjoy. Bison come out with money.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Jacari, Javis, Mason, Miller, and Andy Stefanowitz the five on
the floor. South Dakota State in possession after a tie
up there on the front court left as you listen,
left wing Joe Siler between the legs dribble around the
screen from moors, pulls up for a twelve footer and
knocks it down. Joe Siler with his first basket of
the game. He had nineteen points back in Fargo a
(52:31):
few weeks ago. Now he's got two, ten and a
half remaining of the half. Buison by two. Nineteen seventeen,
Jacari between the rings, peers over to his left, drives
down on the left base line outside Mony, catches left
wing clows out by kloff and a whistle for a foul.
Kluff came out there on the perimeter. Money, of course
a shooting threat. He knocked him on the jersey. That'll
(52:51):
be his first foul. Team second versatility of Jackson obviously
a thread. He can knocked down a three point or
forty percent from beyond the arc Byzon Pickett.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
Back up with Jacari moving to the right wing, Jacari.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
Shaking him, Baking, gets to the basket, puts it up
on the right hand. No good by a whistle for
a foul on Lindsey, fallon Isaac Lindsay. That'll be his first,
team's third and Jacary earns a couple of foul shots
at the line.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Right.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Well, that's what we talked about during the pregame. Could
the Bison find a way to get to the free
throw line the same way they did against Denver and
Oral Roberts in the overtime wins Jacarry eighty five percent
and he knocks down the first twenty to seventeen in
favor of the Bison. He has been so good in
the last five games since losing to his DSU twenty
(53:42):
three points per game, fifty five percent from beyond the arc,
sixty five percent from the floor. Senior captain from Orlando
with his second. It's good and it's twenty one seventeen,
Bison back to a.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Four point lead.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
A little full court press after the free throws by
the Bison, large tramped in the corner, Larson doesn't know
what to do. He dribbles, he throws it and it's
stolen by Jacari. Jakari gives it up for Mason at
three is long and the rebound taken by Siler. That
would have been a big one for the Biason, but
the full court prince presented issues South Dakota State from
right to left, now silent right of the key, right
high post for Klaub, back to Siler, sizing up to
(54:20):
Javison Miller a tax, the dribble jumps up in the lane,
left hand layup is good. Joe Siler with his fourth
point twenty one nineteen, Bison still on top by two
nine forty one remaining in the half, and here come
the herd with Andy Stefanowitz at the point out top
for Jakari pivoting on Lindsay and sign for money, money
in the paint working on Kluff puts it up on
the right hand, bank it up short, no good.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Fans wanted to travel. It won't matter.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Rebound of the jack rabbits Lindsay on the right sideline.
Lindsay against Stefano Witz driving into the right hash Mark
kicks it out for Siler. Siler straight away. Sila starts
his dribble over to the right. Siler working on Mason Miller.
Silar with the left hand now attacks the lane and
now draws a whistle foul against North Dakota State. Though
against Mason Miller that'll be his first team second. Now
(55:12):
the Bison will defend on the inbound Larsen will trigger
it in the true freshman finds the moors in the
high post out top for Lindsay, dumps it to the
right elbow for Cloth. Cloff hands it off for Larson,
right corner for Lindsay. Lindsay working on Stefano Whitz, the
freshman working hard on defense. Lindsay step back long two
no good rebound on the backside. Control by Mony and
here we go and thebia is an up twenty one
(55:33):
to nineteen eight fifty five.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
Kicking down on the first half clock.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Stefano WIT's on the left wing out top for mony
deep three on the way whoa off the backboard, no good,
and the rebound taken by Lindsey toughness for Jackson. Here
comes out Dakota State Silar penetrates puts it up under
the underside of the rim, no good, and rebound rolls
out to him.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Lindsay a left wing three and it's good.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Twenty two twenty out of State regains the lead half
of the limsing three and here comes the crowd. Jacari
drives in ducks it down on two hands. Jack Carry
with a big dive and a big dunk. Bison back
on top twenty three twenty two. That's one way to
silence a sold out arena, to throw into the poster
(56:17):
clock has shot no good to reflected from behind. Here
come the Bison from left to right. Jacari on the
right wing drives into the hoop right hand scoop good.
Jack Cary White going to the basket himself his eighth point,
and it's twenty five twenty two. Byson on top, transition
three by silor, no good and the redown knocked out
of bounds off of SDSU last. The Jeff Grammitt fans

forty to thirty two on the Coach's Choice scoreboard.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
Glad that you're with us. I'm Sam Niederman.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
Let's take a listen back to our first half highlights
presented by bud Light, proud sponsor of NDSU Athletics. Bud
Light Easy to drink, Easy to enjoy. Bison got off
to a good start. They went on a seven to
nothing stretch thanks to Ja Curry White three, and they
led eleven to five in the early going.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
They would up the lead back to six and sixteen
to ten.
Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
Meanwhile, though South Dakota State would respond with a five
nothing run, they made at sixteen to fifteen Javis Miller
hit a three lateness shot Punk made it nineteen to fifteen. However,
South Dakota State wuld piece together a seven to two
stretch to make just their second lead of the game
at twenty two to twenty one. Shortly thereafter, Jacari White
had a response. Here comes the crowd. Jacari drives in,
(01:17:10):
ducks it down on two hands. Jacari with a big
dive and a big dunk, Bison back on top twenty
three twenty two and the SU by one.
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
At that point.
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
They got off to a little bit of a slower
start from three point range, but Mason Miller in particular
was dialed in from distance.
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
He dribbles out top around the screen.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Hope for Mason Miller got a man of the air
one dribbling a three good Mason Miller knocks down his
second tray buys it now more for twelve from Downtown
and his twenty eight twenty two good guys. That was
the second for Mason. He would get a third as
in DSU continued to.
Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
Build its lead.
Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
Money on the right foul line extended dribbling down hands
it off for Mason Miller. Quick trigger three bingo Mason
Miller is starting to heat up here in Brookings. That's
his third three as eleven point and it's thirty one
twenty four buys it buys it up by seven. That
would be their largest lead of the game to that point,
(01:18:07):
but South Dakota State would put together a run and
they would pull within three after a three by Joe Siler,
who led the jack Rabbits with ten points. It was
thirty five thirty two that was where NDSU's secret weapon
off the bench decided to strike from downtown. Mony picks
it up, waiting for a cut, he spins, He lunges
outside for Javis.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Shot clock is down to ten.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
Javis straight away three you bet Javis knocks it down
right for the top of the key is eighth point
and NDSU's back on top by six thirty eight thirty two,
under two minutes to play second three of the half
or to Javis, Miller his eighth point and NDSU would
get another basket from their star to close the deal.
(01:18:52):
Outside for Mony shut fake drive to the lane, puts
it up, Band scares Jax and Money with the basket
and a time out taken by day Richmond forty ffth
point and a half for NDSU and Jackson Money with
his thirteen NDSU on top now by eight, they're largest
of the game with twenty two point six seconds remaining
before halftime. Mony with the basket, he had thirteen to

throw attempt. How about this. The Bison did not have
a single turnover in the first half, not one. South
Dakota State had six. The Bison threw some different looks
to Oscar Cluff. He was held down in the in
the first half, did not have much and did go
to the bench with two fouls very late in the
first half. So keep an eye on that as we go.
(01:22:47):

point lead here at the break.
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
What impressed you there in the first twenty minutes.
Speaker 37 (01:25:47):
Well, zero turnovers and twenty minutes of basketball and on
a road game is outstanding. Okay, So we're really valuing
the basketball and get a shot every single time. I
think we're making it tough on their big bellow too.
To you just get touches and rebounds. We're doing a
pretty good job. So that's what's Those are the positives.
Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
Coach, What adjustments do you anticipate South Dakota State will
try and make defensively to throw at us?
Speaker 37 (01:26:08):
Yeah, defensive they're gonna change their ball screens when they're
out hedging being a pretty agressive'ren get on some rolls.
Anticipate more drop leaving the big fellows in the pate
that Chakaris get to the rim at will right now.
I anticipate some changes there and then offensively for them,
I think they're going right to the big fellow. Okay,
the last game that they played South Dakota, he didn't
touch the ball in the first half, and then they
came out right away and they fed him over and
over and over again upon them. That guy's touching the
(01:26:30):
ball every single to touch.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Coach, appreciate the time, good look, Thank you. Coach.
Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
Tragi here with us as NDYSU prepares for the second half.
South Dakota State beat South Dakota on Sunday ninety four,
ninety one. They trailed by nine. Early in the game
they were able to regain the lead. They stayed off
a late rally by the Cayo, they almost came back.
They were now thirteen, and then euriusly storing back with
him three ultimately came up short ninety four ninety one
(01:26:56):
with the final. I don't see what the buyers could do.
They have contained occer clump so far, as coach said,
has only allowed four points to them. Haven't gotten to
many touches right. That was a huge difference from this
game's first half back to Fargo, when he had twenty
three points and fifteen rebounds on ten of fourteen shooting.
If you get him the ball in space, he'll probably
(01:27:16):
deliver six sixty five percent field goal percentage on the season,
which is a number four in the entire country. Bisoner

You heard coach he thinks they're going to change up
(01:28:48):
their ball screen coverage a little bit. Bison were able
to take advantage of some matchups. We saw Jackson Money
getting downhill on Damon Wilkinson, the freshman who's cluffs backup,
got a couple of bowels drawn on him, was able
to take him to the basket that could be huge
buzzer sounds and we're about set for this second half
(01:29:09):
to begin. Bison will come out of the huddle with
the original starting lineup. No turnovers in the first half
for DSU, and He'stefano, which the true freshman so sure handed,
making his first career start in Summit League play, his
second start this season. He was terrific running the offense
(01:29:29):
to the first half, one assist, no turnovers. He'll be
out there with Jakari Federson, Money and Mason Miller as
we begin. We're back underway here in the second half.
Byson lead forty to thirty two on the Coach's choic scoreboard,

Rebound Torno ray by Fedderson is Moore's one crashing over

Cluff driving into a double team puts it up missing

the rim. It'll go for Kluff as a basket and
it's forty to thirty four, six point game once again.
Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
NDSU on top. Money walks the drimble over the left wing,
hands it off to Stefunnel.
Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
Ititz open three Yes, Sandy Stefanowitz, the freshman knocks down

fount line extended Klough Clough pawing it with the right hand.
He has ten points tonight, brings it down into a
double team, whips it for Siler Quarner.
Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
Three wedged it a weggie, no good.
Speaker 1 (01:57:45):
He threw it up there and it wedged in between
the rim and the backboard, and that means the Bison
will have the ball next first wedgie of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:57:53):
We hadn't had one all year long.
Speaker 1 (01:57:55):
It took us until game number twenty nine, and we
find it here in Brookings, South Dakota Bison by six,
trying to become the first team to win here in
first Bank and Trust Arena on the road this season,
nobody has won in this newly renovated facility. Larson his
three no good rebound taking by Money and here come
to Bison back the other way. Mason Miller will track

for a foul on SDSU they'll get stony had on.
Speaker 2 (01:58:31):
That is his second team's third.
Speaker 1 (01:58:37):
Eric Henderson, sixth year South Dakota State head coach, not
happy with the call. Used to be a Bison assistant
first couple of years under Dave Richmond, and then came
here to Brookings to be an assistant other tj Ozilberger.
Otzilberger went on to Iowa State, then the head coach
ever since. Bison by six. Jacari on top, driving downhill,
(01:58:58):
spins in the lane, put him a tough runner with
the right hand.
Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
Banked it in off the square.
Speaker 1 (01:59:02):
Jack Carley with a circus shot his thirteenth point, and
the Bison lead by eight again sixty five fifty seven,
six minutes to go on Brookings Moores right in the key,
bounces into the post four cloth cloth working on. Fetterson
dribbles off his shoe, ball is loose. Noah's got it,
and the Bison have it off the turnover two minute
scoring drought for SDSU. Now Bison have it, leading it
(01:59:24):

the free throw line. He spins, He looks for a pass,
He clears out top and it's stolen. Stolen by Siler

Now sixty five fifty nine and dsusually trimmed down to
eight five twenty four to go. Can the Bison dictate
terms and keep the crowd from coming out of their

lead it by nine sixty eight fifty nine. Wow, here's
Lart a silo inside for Cluff. His shot punched away
out of bounds by Fenderson. Good defense. It'll stay with SDSU.
(02:00:23):
No found called excellent work by Noah coming over on
the help Cluff with ten points and eight rebounds. They
just show the replay on the big screen. They're not
happy with the no call. So it looked like maybe
Money got him on the arm coming across. Maybe that's
(02:00:43):
why the ball wasn't line. Because James Jackson just knocked
down to three sixty eight sixty two. South Dakota State
back within six four thirty eight to play. Bison trying
to knock out their art rivals on the road. James
Miller out top. We thought about the three and now

winning streak. South Dakota State has not lost in here
since the Bison beat them last February in overtime. They've
won sixteen in a row at home. They are perfect
twelve and zero in this newly renovated First Bank at

beat him this season. Bison could be the first. Now
(02:05:03):
the question is can they hang on. They have led
for all but forty three seconds of the night here
in Brookings and the Bison come out with Fedderson, money White,
both Millers to Javis and Mason with Oscar Cluff at
the line shooting two. A big man from Australia is
a seventy nine percent free throw shooter. He puts it
(02:05:26):
up and makes the first sixty eight sixty three five
point game. Noah Fenderson was called for his fourth personal
foul right before commercial. Mason Miller has three, so does
Luke Kasuki. As Kluff knocks down the second sixty eight
sixty four, it's a four point game. Bison's still with
the lead. Full court press sent out by South Dakota State.
(02:05:48):
The inbound to Mason Miller. He throws it to Noah
Fenderson catches in the back court, gives it up to Jacari,
breaks a timeline, throwing it ahead to Noah and now
back to Jacari as they set up two forty five remaining.
Bison up sixty eight sixty four money, who's got twenty
eight in the game. Left wing James Miller drives down
to the paint, puts it up. Man scores off the window,
count it plus the foul to Javis Miller the secret
(02:06:12):
whipping off the bench for the Bison with his twelve
point in the game, driving in on Siler, knocked on
the elbow, he finishes and he'll go to the line
with a hoop in the harm seventy to sixty four.
Byson extend the lead to six in Javis's and one
free throw is good seventy one sixty four buys in
(02:06:33):
by seven. Now with two thirty seven to play South
Dakota State from left to right. Larsen on the left
wing gives it up for Siler, silent right of the key,
right wing for Moors.
Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
Moors back for Siler.
Speaker 1 (02:06:46):
Siler scurling around into the free throw line, gets in
the lane, fade away from twelve.
Speaker 2 (02:06:51):
He got it.
Speaker 1 (02:06:52):
Siler with his fourteenth point seventy one to sixty six
Bison will inbound, facing pressure again.
Speaker 2 (02:06:59):
Jacari finds no Pederson.
Speaker 1 (02:07:00):
They back off with the presser and jacurry, we'll bring
it up to the mid court logo.
Speaker 2 (02:07:05):
He spins in the back court.
Speaker 1 (02:07:06):
Now into the front court two to four to go,
buys it up by five seventy one sixty six, Money
out top left wing Jamis Miller back to Mony twenty
eight for money on the road. Tonight, money around the
screen on the left wing, driving down to the block,
posting up on Moors five on the timer. Money with
a right hand ribbles, spins in the club bout trapped
(02:07:27):
to no Pederson, who jams it down with two hands.
Speaker 2 (02:07:30):
Back door five.
Speaker 1 (02:07:31):
Noah slips right in and jams it down with two
seventy three sixty six Bison one thirty four remaining a
drive by Jackson and he gets stuffed by Pederson, and
now they'll call ball out of bounds off of Ndysu.
It'll stay with the jack Rabbits. Noah comes over to
the bench, he's got four fouls. He'll uh preserve himself
(02:07:55):
for the moment as Derek Decett comes into the game.
One for their actually say it was off of Sgsu
last a bigger pardon, so it'll be Bison ball. Yeah,
Jackson touched it last. It looked like a very clean
block by Noah and Esu trying to get out of
the front of the back court. They're in a trap
and a time out taken by Dave Ridgman. Smart time
(02:08:18):
out there as the Bison will now go to the bench. Well, no,
they didn't a word the time out. Bison are trying
to get it out of the back end. Here Jacari
bounces information Miller and here he comes across the timeline.
Jacari gets there, drives into the lane, spins out one
to nineteen remaining. We're up by seven seventy three sixty
(02:08:39):
six Bison trying to knock off South Dakota State on
the road money with ten on the timer, backing in
on hadd Not spins, lunches it out for Mason Miller
five to suit and he's the final it's extra pass
Javis for three off the rem noo good remount my
cluff on the run. Here comes South Dakota State. Sixty
seconds to play, Bison by seven. Kloff knocked out on
(02:09:00):
the back by Javis. Miller retreating on defense, ball goes
out of bounds. It'll be a foul on NDSU. Bow
on NDSU Javis called for it. That is his second
team's eighth South Dakota State and the bonus. So one
in one coming for Oscar Clough. Fifty seven seconds to go,
(02:09:20):
and some of the jack Rabbit fans are heading to
the exits as there's a timeout on the floor by
South Dakota State.
Speaker 2 (02:09:28):
Thirty second time out.
Speaker 1 (02:09:32):
Just a handful or starting to put their jackets on
and maybe beating the traffic.
Speaker 2 (02:09:36):
But this game is far from over.
Speaker 1 (02:09:38):
The Bison seventy three South Dakota State sixty six fifty
seven point one seconds remaining. South Dakota State is in
the bonus eighteen fouls on the Bison. Meanwhile, South Dakota State,
with a couple of fouls to give, they only have
fourteen fouls, Both teams have two timeouts, and the possession
arrow favors NDSU. Jackson Mooney would twenty eight points on
(02:10:01):
eleven of nineteen from the floor, four of eight from downtown,
three other Bison and double figures. Mason Miller fourteen points
all in the first half. He's dealt with fout trouble,
only three personal fouls. Now he can be a lease
for the rest of this one. Zakari with thirteen to
Jamis Miller with thirteen as well. Noah Betterson scored his
(02:10:23):
first basket of the game. It was a massive dunk
off of the back door feed by Money through the
double team. Money's fourth assists of the game and now
Kloff at the line with one and one seventy nine
percent on the season, two for two tonight and he
makes a three for three, seventy three to sixty seven.
(02:10:51):
One more coming for Cluff and he puts it up.
Speaker 2 (02:10:54):
It's good.
Speaker 1 (02:10:55):
Seventy three to sixty eight, Bison lead trimmed down to
five these seven seconds to play and the ASU trying
to break the press as they get it into Stefano
Witz skips it over the top for Javis Miller. And
he'll throw it angling over to Jakari White. Jacari drives in,
he gets fouled by Cluff. That'll be the fourth on Cluff,
the fifth on South Dakota State. With fifty point nine
(02:11:18):
seconds to go, they still have one more foul to
give before they put NDSU in the bonus. Matt moorees
will check in for Cloff. With the four fouls, Maanewhile
the Bison are in control here with the ball leading
by five, fifty point nine seconds to go, need to
get a bucket to extend the lead. Inbounds comes to
Stefanowitz and he is swiped out by Siler. That'll be
(02:11:41):
the sixth foul on South Dakota State. Siler's second one
more will put NDSU at the free throw line, shooting
one in one inbound from Jacari on the sideline, looking looking,
trying to find the pass, throws it in the back
court for Jamis. He has it and he's immediately not
tard by Matt Moores. That is a seventh team foul
(02:12:03):
on SDSU. First on Moores and the Bison now will
be in the bonus. They'll shoot one and one Moores
hit javiis hard around the midsection area and Javis will
go to the free throw line for one in bonus
and he's the finalans to the bench. Noah Pederson comes
in to help on defense and the rebound Javis at
(02:12:27):
the line left or at the line right or left
rather one on one tonight. Here's the first good he
earns another seventy four sixty eight. Bison are now six
of six at the free throw line so far tonight.
(02:12:47):
They haven't had many, but they've converted at a high cliff.
One more for Javis and it's good. He knocks them
both down seventy five sixty eight to James Miller with
fifteen points off the bench. Forty four seconds to go,
Siler lost it ball saved by Jacari off of Kluff
out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (02:13:04):
That'll be Bison ball. What a big play by Zaccari.
Speaker 1 (02:13:07):
He was in mid air, threw it off of Kluff
and NDSU takes over forty seconds to go, and now
the fans are gonna start making their way out to
the exits.
Speaker 2 (02:13:17):
A little bit more still, plenty of time.
Speaker 1 (02:13:20):
It's not done yet, but NDSU in good control as
Stefanowitz gets found and he'll have one and one at
the other end. Thirty nine point four seconds to go,
and the Bison will try to make their free throws
before getting out of here and get him back to fourgo.
Andy Stefanowitz, the true freshman making just his second career
(02:13:41):
start tonight, two for three at the free throw line
this season. One in one first one good, seventy six
to sixty eight. Bison re uped the lead to eight points,
and with one more coming, he.
Speaker 2 (02:14:01):
Puts it up.
Speaker 1 (02:14:02):
It's good, seventy seven sixty eight, Bison by nine. They're
nine of nine in the foul line. Thirty nine seconds
to play and here comes South Dakota State. Have to
hurry left to right. Larson throws it in for cluff,
giving go to Larson. A three is no good off
the back iron rebound batted out Seiler. A three that's
a miss, and the rebound taken by Feederson. He is
(02:14:25):
fouled by Jackson. With twenty seven point two seconds to go,
ninth team found on South Dakota State and it'll be
one and one for the Bison once more. Noah Feederson
sixty four percent half the line. He'll try and continue
(02:14:46):
the perfect night at the free throw line and the
perfect finish for the Bison. Benz and Ease puts up
and missed it off the back iron rebound, taking my hand.
Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
Not here they come.
Speaker 1 (02:14:58):
Twenty four seconds to go O Bison by nine D
three by siler Caarm's off no good offensive rebound clubf
rejected by Petterson, Louis Paula Jamis and that's gonna do
it here in Brookings the inbound ahead to Mason Miller.
The clock is going to hit Zeros everybody heading to
the exits, and North Dakota State has come on the
(02:15:19):
road and done what no team has done this season,
the first road team to christen first Bacon Trust Arena
with a victory. Bison do it once again seventy seven
sixty eight NDSU with the win on the road as
they knock off their art rival South Dakota State.
Speaker 2 (02:15:45):
Well done by the Bison.
Speaker 1 (02:15:47):
They came out and played terrific tonight, great defense, great grits,
and enough timely baskets from multiple players on the offensive end,
and that was enough to make it up big time
victory over their biggest rival. Seventy seven sixty eight the
final score. Bison improved a twenty and nine on the season,
(02:16:09):
Their twentieth win comes on the road at SDSU and
they become the first team to win here this season
as a visitor, and they snapped the nation's longest active
home winning streak in the process as well. We'll wrap
it all up with our co electric post game after this.

Speaker 2 (02:19:04):
The Bison have emptied this place out.
Speaker 1 (02:19:06):
As they knock off South Dakota State seventy seven to
sixty eight. Sam Niederman here with you court side as
we'll celebrate this one here on the Rick Electric postgame Show.
The Bison get the job done. They become the first
team to win on the road here in Brookings this
season in this newly renovated facility, and they snapped the
late nation's longest active home winning streak as well. Sixteen
(02:19:28):
in a row for South Dakota State, book ended by
Bison wins NDSU was the last team to win in
here and then they end up pulling the job off
as well here today after sixteen opponents failed to do
so in between, so a great win for the Bison.
They were terrific defensively tonight held SDSU to thirty nine
percent from the floor, thirty three percent from downtown ten
(02:19:49):
out of thirty, and they were just terrific down the stretch.
Noah Pederson had some big rebounds. He led the way
with eight rebounds and a couple of blocks. He only
scored two points, but they might have been the biggest
two of all. Jackson money with a huge assist out
of a double team to find Noah cutting on the
back block and he jammed it down with two hands.
That was the one that pretty much slammed the door shut.
(02:20:09):
He also had a huge block when STSU was desperate
trying to get down at the other end and.
Speaker 2 (02:20:14):
Maybe stay within the game. Jackson Mony had twenty eight points.
He was terrific.
Speaker 1 (02:20:20):
Four assists, six rebounds, eleven of nineteen from the floor.
Jacari White thirteen points. Struggled a little bit from the
floor but hit a big three late five of seventeen
from the floor, one of eight from three. Mason Miller
had fourteen points with four threes as well to Javis.
Miller was big off of the bench again with fifteen points.
Those were the four and double figures to lead the Bison.
(02:20:41):
They led by as many as twelve in this game.
They held STSU to one for its final eight from
the floor an zero of five on its last five shots,
a terrific job by NDSU. They led for almost thirty
nine minutes. They only trailed for a grand total of
forty three seconds in the game. There were two quick
instances where the Bison relinquished the lead early in the
(02:21:04):
first half, but other than that they never looked back.
It was twenty two to twenty one STSU after they
hit a three, but then Jakari had a big dunk
and the Bison never trailed afterwards. They led by eight
of the half, led by twelve early second half, and
even though STSU got it within three, it was sixty
to fifty seven. The Bison were able to finish out
on a terrific note. They outscore South Dakota State seventeen
(02:21:27):
to eleven down the stretch. From that point on, it
got a little dicey felt the momentum coming in the crowd,
but the Bison said no. They hit some big buckets.
Jackson Money had a huge three, also had another one
down on the block. He was just superb again tonight.
The Bison knocked down twelve three pointers thirty seven and
a half percent. They shot thirty two of them twelve
(02:21:48):
for thirty two, so just onto the season average as
far as the percentage goes, but right at the season average.
With the twelve makes, South Dakota State won the rebounding
battle forty three to thirty one. This is a big
win for the Bison. They now move within a half
game of the standings against South Dakota State. The Bison
now nine to five on the year in Summit League
(02:22:10):
and South Dakota State is nine and four, so they're
a half game back. With the head to head split,
both of the road teams winning in this regular season
series between the Bison and the Jacks. Bison now have
won twenty games on the year. You heard our pregame
conversation with coach Richmond. He was saying that is a
hard thing to do in mid major basketball.
Speaker 2 (02:22:30):
Indeed, it is. You're playing power schools on the road
during non conference, You're traveling a ton all across the map.
It's a lot of strain. It's a difficult challenge.
Speaker 1 (02:22:40):
If you want to get twenty wins, you're gonna have
to a be good in your conference and you're gonna
have to do really well in the non conference.
Speaker 2 (02:22:46):
Well that's what NDSU did.
Speaker 1 (02:22:48):
Of course, they went on the eight game winning streak
and December came in really hot in conference play, and
now they get to twenty wins. It is the first
time NDSU has accomplished that since twenty twenty one two.
So a great milestone is the Bison improved to twenty
and nine on the season. They win in here tonight
against South Dakota State seventy seven to sixty eight. The
(02:23:12):
final score, the arena is empty, it is silent, and
all we can do is continue to celebrate as the
Bison come on and get it done here against South
Dakota State. Before we talk with coach Richmond, let's pause
ten seconds for station identification. You're listening to Bison basketball,
(02:23:40):
all right, We've got coach here courtside. Congratulations coach, what
an effort tonight seventy seven sixty eight.
Speaker 14 (02:23:46):
Yeah, I mean as you know, Sam, the staples and
the principles, the absolute foundation of our program is tough
and together and we needed every bit of that toughness.
We needed every bit of that togetherness today and just
really really please you know, what can I say about
a fresh Andy Stefanowitz in a big time environment stepping
up and making some free throws and taking care of
the basketball.
Speaker 9 (02:24:06):
You know, we've really challenged you know, Fetti.
Speaker 14 (02:24:07):
Here lately, and I thought he was able to contribute
in a lot of different ways, tip steels, deflections, you know,
big dunk late, so you know, top to bottom.
Speaker 9 (02:24:16):
Obviously, Jack Simony was just a dude and just delivered
in every way, shape or form.
Speaker 14 (02:24:21):
Javis was really good, and again like we come on
the road in this place, in this environment, get this victory,
and I still, you know, I look at Jakari's line
and I look at those other things, like there's still
a better version of us out there as well.
Speaker 9 (02:24:33):
Well.
Speaker 1 (02:24:33):
Coach, we talked about a little bit over the weekend,
right the nineteen nothing run against Denver. You take a
snapshot of that and say that's the consistency. Did you
feel like you got that for a forty minute period?
Speaker 14 (02:24:43):
Yeah, I did, you know the mid coad guys just
said something like they were never able to go on
more than like a five zero run, you know, And
and you know that was big for a lot of reasons. One,
you know, obviously, you know, for us to stay in there.
But obviously the other piece is just to keep this
crowd out a crowd out of it a little bit.
It's hard enough to beat these guys alone. But you know,
extremely proud of our guys top to bottom.
Speaker 1 (02:25:03):
Sand thirty seven percent from the floor for SGSU thirty
eight percent. I beg your pardon excuse me, thirty nine percent.
Then that they were ten of thirty from three. How
about the job? Just the intensity seeing you it was,
whether it was Jakari getting into his stance or Andy
trying to work Noah down in the paint.
Speaker 14 (02:25:21):
Yeah, that's it. And that's what I said just to
said to the guys in the locker room. Is is
this is this is the frustrating part about a coach
is we know, right, and I know, and we as
a staff, we know we're capable of these things. And
when you bottle that up and you have that consistency
for forty minutes and you are tough and you are together.
Speaker 9 (02:25:37):
That's how great things happen.
Speaker 14 (02:25:39):
And that's what we were for forty minutes to night
against a very very good ball club and you know,
had a really really hard place to win.
Speaker 1 (02:25:44):
What can you say about Noah there down this stretch
you had the big dunk out of the double team
pass from Jackson and then a couple of big blocks.
Speaker 14 (02:25:51):
Yeah you know, I mean again, so much goes to
Jakari and so much goes to Jackson and Mason, and
you know, Javis has been so consistent and we need
those countries beating X factor, so to speak.
Speaker 9 (02:26:01):
And you know it was big.
Speaker 14 (02:26:03):
I thought Andy was one of those today and again
just really proud of Fetti. You know, I'm not gonna
shy it behind it. You know, he'll tell you I'm
trying to make no Federson uncomfortable right now, because when
you're uncomfortable, that's.
Speaker 9 (02:26:12):
How you grow.
Speaker 14 (02:26:13):
When you know he was up this morning shooting and
he's responded to those challenges and then that as a coach,
that's what's fun to.
Speaker 2 (02:26:19):
See to Javis had a huge day off the bench
once again.
Speaker 9 (02:26:23):
Yeah yeah, I mean, what can you say about the
young man? I just I love him. He's got a
great spirit.
Speaker 14 (02:26:28):
I can't tell you like the the voice that he's becoming,
you know, outside of the lines and getting guys going
and playing with that energy and emotion. He hasn't shot
it great from the free throw line. He delivered big there,
you know this evening. I absolutely love that young man.
Speaker 1 (02:26:42):
We gotta we'd be remiss not to mention Jackson obviously
twenty eight points, some big assists, just big moments again
from number four.
Speaker 14 (02:26:50):
Yeah, I mean, and he was wearing that that you know,
three in the face, you know signal pretty much all
night and he's terrific. I just thought his mentality Sam
was way better this time than at in Fargo. You know,
I mean, Klub's a big dude. He's a physical presence.
But Jackson never shied away from that. He took it
to the rim. He obviously made some big time dagger threes.
(02:27:11):
You know, that's what That's what dudes need to do
this time of year. Jack stood up and delivered and
we needed every bit of it.
Speaker 2 (02:27:17):
Gotta love it.
Speaker 1 (02:27:17):
Coach, Congratulations, going joy and we'll see in Grand Forks
get home. Save Thanks thanks coach, Coach Richmond Here with
us Bison win it tonight seventy seven sixty eight. We're
now joined by Jackson Money courtside. Jackson, appreciate you taking
the time. The three in the face signal is that's
what coach was saying there. You had a couple of
big moments and knocked down, So.
Speaker 42 (02:27:38):
Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean it's just a Ryan
joke with our guy. I think Brent started it and
we kind of just rolled with it. So I mean,
it was my good luck charm today. I hit a couple,
did the little signal, but ultimately I'm just glad we
got the win.
Speaker 1 (02:27:50):
I love it, man, you had a huge moment down
there where the crowd's getting into it. It's a five
point game at the time, you're in a double late
in the sh and you're able to find Noah cutting
back door.
Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
Walk us through that play.
Speaker 42 (02:28:03):
Yeah, I mean we practice those situations all the time
where Coach Stregi does a wonderful job kind of simulating
the game. And even before that, we talked that no
one might be open on the cut, and I was
just happy that I was able to find him and
he's able to score.
Speaker 1 (02:28:16):
Jackson take us through the differences between the first meeting
against SGSU and Fargo win tonight. What were you guys
able to adjust that worked?
Speaker 42 (02:28:24):
I think it was just our effort. I mean, we
battled throughout. We knew it was gonna be a hostile environment,
that it was going to be us versus the world,
and I think in our endurance as well is what
kind of separated the first game from the second game.
Speaker 1 (02:28:36):
Defensively, Jackson, you hold him to thirty nine percent from
the floor. They were one for their last eight. At
what type of gumption did you guys have to finish
it down the stretch?
Speaker 42 (02:28:45):
I mean, I think it was just playing as a team,
buying into what coach coach Richmond, coach Jones, coach Reggie
have been preaching to us lean up to this game,
and I mean they did a wonderful job just preparing
us for this game. And just again happy we got
the win.
Speaker 2 (02:28:57):
Love it, Jackson, really appreciated. Congratulations by friend. Thank you
Jackson Mooney here with us court.
