Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome on into the Nontendo Podcast. My name is Wood.
I'm joined once again by Nathaniel Bandy.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What's up.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Thanks so much for being here, Buddy, I really appreciate you.
And we're talking about that Nintendo direct, the one that
nobody expected and yet somehow still had expectations for.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
It was one of the weirdest directs ever in confusing,
in like in so many different ways, like some of
the announcements, how they ended the direct. It was just weird,
even like going into it, like five minutes before, I remember,
I was streaming and I was wondering, like, am I
supposed to be excited for this director? I have any
expectations at all. It was just a weird, weird direct.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Today it was weird, and I want to talk about
all of it. Yeah, one thing, I got so many thoughts,
but you're right, it was really weird pacing showing Metroid
at ten minutes. It was like, oh, that's so sick.
I wonder what the one more thing is? Then if
you're already showing more Metroid gameplay, but then the one
the one more thing was well, some people are excited.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Well it was. It wasn't even just one more thing.
They pulled the one more thing twice. Yeah, I know.
That was like, here's one more thing, tell about your life.
Oh wait a minute, here's one more thing.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Here's another one more thing.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah that was weird.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, that was weird.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
So here's the whole situation for listeners of the show.
Kim is immensely pregnant. Today was supposed to be me
setting up and doing the podcast with Kim, and she
just doesn't feel good right now. So I messaged Nathaniel.
I was like, hey, do you are you free? Can
you jump on? You want to do the show with me?
So we slapped it together last second. Huge thank you
(01:48):
to you, Nathaniel for I don't know where I'd be
without you. I'd be talking to myself.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Oh, I appreciate the infight. No, I love doing stuff
like this. This is fun.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
You were saying that. I know you got up early
and you watched and I think reacted to the direct
and then you passed out.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So yeah, basically, I'll very very briefly, I got my
tetanus shot yesterday and last night my arm was getting
really really achy and it was starting to make me
feel bad too, So I got like, you know, a
solid four hours of sleep. I was up at like
four in the morning last night. I laid in bed
for two hours. I just could not sleep, like, you
know whatever, I'll do the direct and then I'm going
back to bed. And that's exactly what ended up happening.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, I get that way. I mean I didn't have
a shot, but I get that way before if there's
something in the morning, like I know there's a direct
or something I got to get up for that I'm
excited about. I have such a hot time sleeping, like
my brain just can't tone off. I'm just wondering the
whole time, and there's a pot of me that's like,
am I gonna sleep in? Did I set enough alarms?
So I just I can't fully relax YouTube.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, I mean that that's how I am to It's
gonna be worse next week because next week, I know
next week one of the most important days this I know.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I'm so excited. I don't have my little button chat.
I usually have a little button that has the final
day countdown, but I I think it's literally like six days.
I think, yeah, and this is the last time I
could have done that final countdown to just picture that
Jajong six days and then we get the actual April
(03:21):
second full look at the Nintendo Switch to Obviously we're
hoping to see more hardware gimmick features if it has any,
definitely any software side features, and then what the launch
games and launch window and all of that. And then
two days later I am going to New York April
fourth to do the hands on event, which is in
eight days, so in almost a week. I can't believe
(03:43):
how quickly it's come about. In a week.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
It's going to happen so fast, I know, and I'm
going as well, but I'm going on the sixth of
April instead, I know.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Actually I forgot later, I forgot you told me that
you have it as well. That's so crazy, And you're
going on the fourth and you said you're hanging around
for a few days.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I'm gonna be doing some filming for another video on
the fifth of April, and then you know, the sixth,
it'll just be the switch two day. I'm gonna go
in there. Hopefully we're allowed to film something. I don't
know how that's gonna go, honestly, I'll probably be watching
a bunch of like streams.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh sorry, about that.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, sorry about that.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
That's okay. Now on the fourth, I'm probably watching a
bunch of people at the switch To event and hoping
that we're allowed to the film or at least at
the very least take photos of what we'll be playing.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah, I was gonna say, like, do you want to
meet up on the fourth since we'll both be there anyway?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, no, i'd be down. I'm gonna be there probably
like sometime in the afternoon, right, I guess, mm hmm, yeah,
that'd be cool.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I My brain is in a million places. Man, I'm
so excited. I'm just uh right now, I'm sharing this
podcast to the main video I posted today. Oh perfect,
So I feel free to free to keep talking?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
All right?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Do you want to dive straight in to this direct
and kind of break it down and look through it
a bit?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah? I know we could. We could definitely do that.
I mean, I guess we could. We could go in order,
we could just kind of jump around.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
But we can do whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Okay, Well, I guess we'll go in order. But like this, again,
this is such a weird direct. It didn't really feel
that structure to begin with. Like the first party stuff
did not show like the first party stuff kind of
showed up when you would expect it. But at the
same time, it just felt somethings just felt like this
should have happened later, like the Prime four stuff. Why
(05:39):
was that the first ten minutes you would expect to
be like the end of the trailer, right.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
I know it was. It was a bit bizarre. I
mean again, it came out of no way. This is
number one trending on gaming. It it does feel like
they had some extra announcements that they just wanted to
get out there before the switch to is officially the
new thing. Cause like, yeah, I don't want to say
no one's gonna care about Switch one stuff after six
days from now, but it is very much gonna feel
(06:05):
like that, like we're in the last window here of
the Switch one kind of having the main relevancy. So
it does seem like they just wanted to get this
stuff out here. One thing that I noticed that was
a bit odd for something that is focusing on Switch
one stuff mostly coming this year is a lot of
it was just twenty twenty five, and some of it
(06:25):
even twenty twenty six without too many dates.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
I'm not gonna lie, I was surprised to see Pokemon
because you would think they would have shown all that
stuff during the Pokemon Data Act last month.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, I think I think it's just I think it's
just wanting to like beef this out more, just to
puff it up with even more like first party, like,
here's the big stuff. Now, pay attention again to this
little indie game where pac Man is your sidekick.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, okay, that game actually kind of sick though.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
That game, Yeah, I know, it did look really Yeah,
we've seen that before somewhere other event, so I.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yes, I was trying to remember when I was watching.
I think it was the Game Awards. I'm pretty sure
we saw it at the Game Awards.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
It was some other live event. I don't remember which one,
but yeah, you're probably right. Okay, So we have a
look at the dragon Quest one and two HD two
D remake, which I believe we've already had. The third one,
and the third one is technically the first one in
the Cannon storyline. That's why they did the third one first.
Now his one and two, they seem to hint on
(07:28):
a new character being added this one here. I don't
know much about Dragon Quest.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I don't know anything. The only thing I remember is
I'm pretty sure the one in two hdre remix were
teased during the last erect Yeah, they had like the title,
So starting it with gameplay, I mean, that's a solid way.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
To start a direct It's a gorgeous game. I actually
I made a whole video recently about Pokemon and their graphics,
and one of the comments I saw that I found
interesting was someone said they kind of wish that game
Freak just did Pokemon games like this, like when they
when they moved from you know, the three DS and
(08:05):
the sprites, rather than trying to tackle these big, open world,
realistic games, they just kind of emerge it and they
do the pixel sprites with realistic environments like this. Although,
to be honest, it's not the characters and the sprites
that Pokemon have an issue with, because the Pokemon and
characters look pretty good. It's the backgrounds, sir.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, it's everything else. Yeah. Yeah, game game performance as well.
I mean that's one of the biggest problems.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah. So actually, now I'm thinking about it, they probably
couldn't even pull this off.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
It's just I mean, maybe like the performance would be
better though, if they use simpler graphics so plus like
it would be nostalgic, Like I would love to play
a Pokemon game in this.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
It would look it would go so hard, I mean
even to get like a like a. We haven't had
a Gold and Silver remake yet, have we? Imagine?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
No, I think that's that's gonna happen like next year.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Imagine gold and Silver in this art style. Ah, yeah,
that would be awesome. All right, we got to keep moving,
okay Ai the some minim miniminem files.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
So omnium files.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I think, Oh, before we get too carried away with this,
what did you tell me right before we went live
with the game?
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Cuts with the game? Are we talking about the virtual game? Oh? So, basically,
there's been confirmation on Nintendo's website that there are going
to be Nintendo switch to editions of games. So there's
going to be Switched one editions and switch to editions
at least in a physical form. So I'm assuming we're
(09:34):
going to be able to upgrade our Switch one games
to switch to, whether that's free or we have to
pay a little bit for that, but that was confirmed
on Nintendo's website. I just saw before we started.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Where is that can you show me that. I'd love
to bring that up.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Yeah, if I could try to find it on the website.
But yeah, the tweet, it's just like a little.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Excerpt from from who from actual errow actual? Err actual?
Who is that? Is that a guy?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I think he's like a YouTuber or something.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I don't I can't find that.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Oh actual A E R O A E. It just
it just like randomly showed up my feed. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
See oh this, Yeah, I've seen this account before. Yep
Ooh okay, okay, wait hold on, let me sure this.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
So, yes, that was the tweet. Uh. Yeah, again. I
don't know what what game this is relating to, but
the fact that it's on Nintended's website is is pretty exciting.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Nintender Switch to Edition game. Is this what I'm reading?
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Yeah, I'm sir.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Let me read the whole thing available on the tenor
Switch Switch Light and Switch or LED models. A system
update is required. Compatible systems must be linked on the
switch to use virtual game cards, then Tendor Switch to
exclusive games, and then Tenor Switch to addition, games can
only be loaded on a Nintender Switch two system.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Oh, it's about the virtual game cards.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
This is about the virtual game cards. Yea, then I
switch to addition games. Well that's an interesting wording though,
and then I switch to addition games could only be
loaded and the two system. Okay, so I guess they're
gonna have like switch to versus. So it's gonna be
like a like a PS four or a PS five game.
They released the same thing, but there's different versions.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, it must be the console. It might be like that.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Yeah, And there's there's a couple of ways of thinking
about it. There's just one way. It's just wordage, I guess.
So it could be like them just saying, hey, if
if there's an exclusive switch to game that can only
be loaded on a switch to system, you know, something
that's like the new Mario Kart for example, or I
switched to editions. So like you have Metroid four, you
have the switch one edition and the switch to edition
(11:51):
and the Switch two editions probably gonna look and play better.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
And I you know, I think for a lot of
the games we saw today, like Rhythm have been tomadacir Life,
they're probably gonna have switch one and switch to editions
as well.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, I mean because they're releasing, right, because they're releasing
so late. I mean unless yeah, I mean, like Rhythm
Heaven is such a basic game. I wonder if you
even need to have two editions or it's just the
same addition that works on both. But it's gonna be
really interesting to see how they handle this. We haven't
had I don't think we've had much experience with let me,
(12:23):
I don't know if I'm if I'm not thinking clearly,
but much experience with a console generation like step up
where it's just completely incorporating the previous one. Other than
like DS and three DS, the game Boy line, I
guess game Boy, game Boy, everything's backwards compatible, but even
then that that's not actually it's like completely true. There
(12:46):
was a couple of game Boy and game Boy Color
games that were kind of worked like this. I know
warriol In two was playable on game Boy and game
Boy Color. Oh, that's interesting, I think.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Uh. There was also Links Awakening on game Boy and
the Deluxe version on game Boy Color. M oh, I
can't think of many more examples beyond that.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Definitely Nintendo focused examples. And we're in such a different
time now with like power and graphics and expectations. It's
is gonna be so interesting to see how they handle
this this merge over. Yeah, okay, it still begs the
question about will we have a physical Metroid prime for
(13:23):
for Switch and one for Switch to Switch too.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Yeah, we'll probably find out next onesday.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Oh man, I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I know. Yeah, I'm excited. I'm very, very excited.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Someone told someone on my chat was like when I
was live, like, did you realize I don't know why
I'm repeating this because they were wrong, but they were like,
did you realize that any game that was releasing before
June sixteenth they said it was on Nintendo Switch, but
after June twenty seventh they said on the Switch family
of systems, kind of implying this like a space Yeah. Really,
(13:56):
But then like I watched it back while I was
making my video and it's just wrong. Like the very
first game is that Dragon Quest and it's July twenty fifth,
and they were like releasing on Nintendo Switch. So I
was like, oh, you were just lying, you just made
something up then.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Or he just he just like didn't pay that much
attime he might have noticed for like two games, like
oh wow, every game after.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
June is there was probably a couple of a couple
games where that lined up. It's in his credit.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
All right.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
So I've never played or seen AI Solemn Files, so
I don't I don't really know what this is all about.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
I've heard of the franchise, I I don't know anything
about it. There's a lot of these games that we
saw that I've like heard of them, I've just never
tried them.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, this whole a lot of ninety percent of this
direct was things I don't care about. But it's like, yeah,
so I didn't even know this was happening until yesterday.
You know, I was locked in on the next one.
This is just the pregame, it's pre game exactly I've
been I've been so checked out.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, this morning I made the analogy that like what
we're doing, what we're in right now, is we're like
an hour before the super Bowl and we're just listening
it to the commentators predict what's going to happen.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yeah, that's what it feels like. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've
been so checked out on Switch one. It's like I'm
just kind of over. I'm just ready for Switch too.
So to get more now is like okay, yeah, fine, cool,
it's cool. Add to the library, make it the library
more impressive, Like I love.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
It as long as you can play them on switch too.
I mean, that's totally fine with me.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
I also I want to go through I want to
try and get through this because I want to go
through the comments on my video reaction that I uploaded today,
because I I tried to explain how the switch cartridge
thing works now to my understanding, and there are people
already replying pointing out examples of ways that it's worse
(15:52):
and worse. So my immediate I don't want to get
to let me actually let me pull it up because
my brain's going on is a minute. There's no reason
to go in a little, I guess, so.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
To be fair, the way they explained it was pretty confusing.
It took me. It was very confused, and they like
really over explained it, and they didn't. It's just it's
just like you know, game sharing, Like it's not anything
more crazy than that.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, it was very confusing the way they explained it. Also,
if you like, if you pause the video and you
slow down and stuff, uh, there's little captions that pop
up that explain a little bit more that go by
so quickly that like this context that you need, and
they just tried to put it on screen.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I'm surprised they didn't talk about this during the Switch
two direct next week. This seems like a Switch too
thing to bring up, but I guess it's gonna work
with Switch one as well, the new system No, the
virtual game cards, yeah yeah, yeah yeah. It just felt
like something that was for Switch to but like you know,
there's no reason they can't do it for Switch one
as well. It just it just fell out of place.
(16:56):
That was like the main thing.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
So here's the comments on my video. I was trying
to find the one that I saw initially, but someone
was like, here's something that he was thinking of. So
before you could have your digital game on any console, right,
so you could do it on both. And people are
kind of talking about how, well now it's better because
you can transfer and then it'll work on your primary
(17:19):
no matter what. But this guy pointed out that before
you could have forty switches and you could have the
game downloaded on forty switches at once.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
I don't think that's true.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I think it is. I just don't know how playable
it is on all those consoles.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Like I know you can download them on other switches,
but I'm pretty sure once you start to play them
it the the non primary console, it starts to get
a little walky. Sometimes the game won't work. It like
wants you to log in as the primary console.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
So maybe we should maybe we should watch that part
of the video.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Yeah, so I've confused about it. It's not even a
complicated concept. I don't say it really wordy.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Can you hear this? Probably not right.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
With game card? No, I don't have I mean you
can put it.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Featuring in this Nintendo switch system and a legend of
Zelda game in this one.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Okay, Okay, so I'm with him so far. He said
you can put Mario in this one and Zelder in
this one. That yeah, got it easy?
Speaker 2 (18:28):
You can. You can even swap the card.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Yeah, imagine flexible.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
And convenient as game cards.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I also love the one two switch, Like, oh yeah,
someone's playing one two switch still right? Yeah, no, one is.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
It's funny because here he says, we wanted to make
the digital as easy, as easy to use and flexible
as physical, which they're honestly already a little bit more
flexible and easy to use because you don't have to
use a cartridge. That's that's kind of the plus side
of getting them digital is that they were digital and
(19:01):
that they were a little bit more flexible. But I
guess I get what that's talking about.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I think that the big takeaway here is that you
can rent games to other people.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
That is the big takeaway.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Like for me, I have I think six or seven
people in my uh switch online account, though I guess
in a couple of months, if I want to play
something on someone else's switch, I can just you know,
download it in and I guess kind of like borrow
it for two weeks.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Now, are those people that it's really cool? Your friends?
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, so that's well, I'm not not close with all
of them. There's a few of them I'm close with,
and then others are like friends of friends and they
joined just to make the cost cheaper.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
That was a That was another funny thing while I
was live is people were spat because I was like,
you can trade with your friends, you can like borrow
a friends games, and the chat was like, no, it's
only family. It's only family. It's like, you guys are
getting too focused on the word family. Like the Nintendo
is not gonna draw a sample of blood to make
(19:58):
sure you're related to the person you're borrowing a game from.
You just add friends to your account.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Now if your family, then you can borrow the game
for a month instead of two weeks. Ooh, of only friends,
that that's a two week thing. There's a big difference.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
It's only two ways. It don't be big of a commitment. Well,
it's cool too with your friends, because I think you
need to you need to touch the switches at some point
to do this. But they said, once you've done that,
then you can trade and offload and onload of a
Wi Fi remotely anytime.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
So it seems like no matter where your friends are.
After that, you you and all your friends can switch
and trade games all the time.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah. There's a friend that I'm pretty close with that's
a part of the account. He lives like four or
five hours away, so next time I visit, we could
just you know, get o our switches set up to
do this and then we have a very different taste
in games. So honestly, it's gonna be really exciting to
be able to like, hey, can I like download this
or this and that or whatever, and it'll be super easy.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Yeah, that is that is really nice, and it's definitely
their way of trying to combat like people not buying
digital over physical, right because like families, big households on
lower incomes or middle incomes, they don't want to buy
like the same game for they want they want to
go to game stop and buy a game physical so
(21:18):
that the kids can all trade it around. Right.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah, but this way.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
It doesn't necessarily prevent you from needing to buy a
digital in that case, because you and the whole family
can share it around.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
I mean, I think the best way I think of
it is this is basically a virtual Blockbuster exclusively for
your Nintendo Switch. It's kind of like that, kind of
like that yet like in concept, that's the idea, although
you can only trade with, you know, people on your
your U not your friends list, people that are a
part of your account.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
I guess why I'm confused and why people are probably
looking at me like why you are overthinking this is
because there there is a lot of like things you
can do with multiple switches and multiple games and things
I've wanted to do with that and it's never really worked.
And there are some things I feel like this is
going to break that did work. It's just I don't
(22:07):
know what those are and I don't know if they matter.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Yeah, I'm very curious about like multiplayer, Like will you
still be able to play like online even when you're
renting a game? I mean, I imagine, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
You definitely it should be fine. Somebody in my chat
was like, do you think do you think you'll have
to re download the game every time you get it back?
I was like, no, no, no, no, it's no.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
No, it's it's the game is still on your console.
You're just sending the license to somebody to allow them
to download and play it, you know, but when you
get it back, it just reactivates the game that's dormant
on your system. Essentially, we can keep.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Actually some of that. Here's an interesting idea. If you
like rent a game from someone and then the trial
goes away, you decide to buy it, is that gonna be?
Is that gonna like mess things up? Like?
Speaker 1 (23:00):
That was one of the captions. It said that when
the game goes back, it does not wipe the save.
You keep the save.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Okay, So I kind of figured that.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Was And even now, like if you buy a physical
and a digital of the same game, and you play
either one on the same switch, it'll activate the same save.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Okay, that's good.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah, yeah, but this is why it's confusing and why
there's so many questions about how it works, because it's like, well,
what if this and what if that? Yeah, says any
user registered to the system can play the game. That's
also the way it already was, and that's great. I've
seen some people being like someone in my chat was like, well,
(23:41):
now if I download a game and my sister's on
my account, she can play it too on my switch,
she can play it too. And she could already do
that though. Yeah, that was already a thing that you
could do. But I mean, this makes it sound like
you can like do that now for the first time,
but you definitely could already do that.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I guess the point is to simplify that process, just
to make it seem like you're using an actual game card.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. I like the idea of
having them all in the same place like this too.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
That is really nice.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, all right, let's see what else they have to
say loading onto a second system. Okay, so this is
where it gets a.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Little This is where it's confusing. I agree.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Yeah, this is the confusion every day first part, fine,
the next pat, after this pot pat, the next pot,
after this with the family. I mean, I'm too close
to Josie. Now this is the this is the confusing one,
which I think I've got my head around now. But
if you have.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Two Nintendo Switch systems, you can eject a virtual game
card from one and load it.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Onto the second.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Now down here it says an Internet connection is required
only while loading or ejecting.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Which is nice. Yeah, that is it doesn't have to
be a DRM or always online.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
And whenever you want, just as if you had inserted.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
That's also kind of how it was before.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Yeah, I know something that I've something I was trying
to figure out while watching This is what I've always
kind of thought about with Nintendo in all their systems,
is you have the switch light, and you have the
O lead, and you have like these different models. Why
can't you Why can't you be playing on your TV
(25:29):
at home on Breath of the Wild on your account
on your Switch O Lead and then realize, oh, I've
got to go to the hospital. My wife's giving birth.
But I don't want to be bored, So you grab
your switch light out on the way out the door,
and then you turn that on at the hospital and
you can pick up where you left off as long
as you have an Internet connection. Why is it like, no,
(25:50):
this is your primary switch and the I count, you
know what I mean. So I was trying to figure
out if there was a way that this would be
able to do that without switching primary accounts or downloading
like having to manually do save files or using the
cloud or like any of that. But I don't think
that this solves any of that.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
You know, we're just gonna have to mess with it.
I think once ever, it it does actually.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Release, I'm making it all confusing, I know.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Yeah, for something like that, I mean, you would think
that would work.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Right You think you think it would to encourage you
to buy them all consoles.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, yeah, it'd be like if you're you know, watching
YouTube on TV and switching to your phone, it saves
its place. M So hopefully it works like that, But
it's I guess it's kind of it's confusing because the
system originally started with having a primary owner, and it's
hard if that makes an impact or not with this
(26:46):
new update.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
You know what they could do They could just not
make switches have a primary owner and as long as
your account is lugged in, you can just use the switch.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
I don't know why they do that. Maybe to prevent
like like piracy, like because if everyone just had like
an account and like they shared the account, then you
could technically give the game to like a thousand people
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Well, how does it work on like PlayStation if you
have like two PlayStation fives and you lug in on
your you lug in your account on both and then
you try playing your games, does it yell at you
and be like, this isn't your primary PlayStation.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
I don't use the PS five enough to know that.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Maybe maybe chat would be able to tell you.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah, maybe it's just.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Like, yeah, I guess what you're saying is right, But like,
would you really want to sell your switch to somebody
else with your account lugged in and all your games?
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Yeah? That I mean that would be a problem because
I think, like, you know, one person, if they had
access to the account in the pass where they could
just change the password and hoard all the games for themselves.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't think that wouldn't think
to anybody, So, like, just make it so I can
use an account on all my switches and play my games,
and then I could just download them digitally on every
one and I wouldn't have to worry about ejecting re ejecting.
Like that's right, all right, whatever, let's keep going.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Yeah, I mean again, I think we're just gonna have
to actually.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Try it out, I know, yeah, play around with it
and see how community.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, to actually see how it works.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
I said this in my video today, but a lot
of people like, and someone pointed this out to me
in my stream. A lot of people like, well, I
only have one switch alone. You have to have one switch,
so it doesn't matter when you buy a switch to
you will have two switches, right, So yeah, you will
have this option of doing this if you do want
to do this, you know.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
You know, Originally when they first started showing this, I
thought they were going to have some way of doing
a like system transfer faster, because I've switched from regular
to ol ED and it took like an entire t
my library on there. So I was thinking, oh, is
this like some different way, because you know, switch two
is coming, maybe they want to make it a little
bit more convenient to move all of our Switch one games,
(28:53):
but really has nothing to do with it.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
I do with that. I'm assuming the switch to will
work the same way in that sense where when you
boot it up connect to the previous switch, it does
the really long loading, it'll transfer everything over, you know,
because for a lot of it, it has to re
download a lot of those games.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Yep, yeah, and I have I have a huge digital library.
I don't have very many physical switch games.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I got a lie I get a lot on that too.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Ever, it's gonna takes me so long to get all
those transferred over to switch too.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
I've watched this trailer so many times now, like this
one part. I feel like I've got a handle on
it nowmbers. All right, So essentially, for the family side,
you can have up to eight people on your family
account and you can freely they they kind of only
show you from like this master switch like you sending
things out. But I'm assuming they could also send you
(29:45):
games from their account, like there's no reason why not,
Like you're not like the main character here. So you
trade three games, you could probably get a game back.
You could probably I must maybe get a game from
each of these people. Do you think you can do?
You think you could house three games at once, So
I don't know if it says that.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
I think so well, Because there was a shot that
showed a bunch of cartridges where there was like the
big like thought bubble or whatever. We can see like
six cartridges and five on one, So I think you
can do multiple at once. I should.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
You have a Switch account and you have like six
games and none of them are yours, just borrow. They
all have countdowns on how long you have left, and
you're frantically trying to beat them all than fourteen days.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I mean you could do that theoretically.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You got a really nice friend that's lending you all
these games, Like all right, you got two weeks to
beat this, all right? And that's what I'm excited about.
Like again, like the friend I'm thinking of, he has
so many Switch games that I will never buy, But
now I can just try it without having to buy it.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
That's really cool. Yeah, I don't have anybody on my account.
Both for some strange reason, I don't know why we
do this. Both Kim and I pay for Nintendo separately.
We should just get on the same. I don't know
why we do. And at that point it would be
good because there has been multiple times that I've bought
(31:06):
her whole games like Mario Wonder because I'm like, well,
I got to play it and review it. I want
you to have your own, and then she never opens it.
So it would be good to have the option of
just sending her one for fourteen days. Maybe maybe she'll
actually play it if she feels like she's on crunch
to play it. Yeah, all right, so I'm going to
(31:29):
read this comment. It's got seventy likes. The difference is
just two, which I don't know what that means. One,
you could now play these games offline, which you could
not do before since it was not your main switch. Okay,
so on a secondary switch that's not your primary, as
long as you connect it to the internet at some
(31:51):
point and share the game over, you can play that
game offline. It will mean that your main switch won't
be able to play it during that time. I don't
really know the use case for that.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
I thought that's how it worked before, like when you
would like download to another switch, like the other person
could not play it at the same At least it
played it at the same time.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
No, it's not not playing at the same time. See,
this is why it's confusing. This is exactly why it's confusing. So, yeah,
that's a separate thing. So before, if you have two
switches with the same game downloaded in the same account,
you couldn't boot them both up at the same time. Yeah,
that this doesn't fix that, And that's not what this
is talking about. What this is saying is, if you
(32:38):
have two switches, right, one's your primary, one's your secondary,
A game's installed in both. You take your secondary with
you out of the house. Let's say you go on
a plane trip and you go to play the game.
If you're offline on the plane, it'll say, this is
your secondary switch. You can't play this connect to the internet.
That's how it would do it before. Now, as long
(33:00):
as you connected those switches and you ejected your game
out of your main one, put it in your second one,
took the second one on a plane, and then played
it offline, it would let you do it now. But
what but why why are we doing all of that?
Why are we leaving why are we leaving the primary
switch at home?
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I guess if you have like a family and then
you have multiple switches. I don't know, I.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Guess, but they could just have their own account and
I yeah, I get I guess, I guess. Maybe there's
a maybe there's a use case. It's just very specific.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Two.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
If you before had an account that you shared a
borrowed to play a game, no other could play a
game using that account at the same time, meaning that
you are locking people out from playing other games on
the I am lost on the original switch. If you
are loaning their account on yours, the virtual card will
(33:56):
make it so that will not happen because they will
because they can choose to just loan you that game
if you are in the family, and you can play
that borrowed game offline, just like option one.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
So that that is an improvement. Yeah, because that was
what I was just talking about.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Can you explain that to me, like I'm five?
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Yeah, so okay, So basically, imagine you got two switches. Yeah,
you're down the switch number one has I don't know,
Mario card eight. Yeah, you want switch number two to
play Mario Kard eight. Yea with the same account. You
can do that. You can have it downloaded with the
old method. If you play it on switch too. You
cannot play it on switch one at the same time.
The difference with this, according to this comment, is that
(34:38):
both people can play both versions.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Of the game at the same time time. Yes, one
the same one purchased game. You can't do that.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
That's I mean, that's what he's As far as i'mwhere,
I think that's what he's explaining.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Hey, hold on, this is an example. Example is my
sister owns Mario Cutt digitally. I usually play it with
my girlfriend, but if she starts, for example, Donkey Kong
on her switch, that'll kick me out from playing Mario Kart,
or she will not be able to start a game
until I stop playing. With this update, that will no
(35:13):
longer happen. So him and his sister are playing on
the same account, and every time she tries to play
on his account while he's playing his account, no matter
what the game is, he gets kicked out of his account.
How that's true, I've never heard of that. I've never
tried that. This has seventy likes, so it must be true, right,
(35:34):
But surely one why not make your sister her own
account so she can play different games at a different
time without kicking you out and two, I don't think
this fixes your issue.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
No, I don't think it does either.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Because yeah, why would that? Why would that fix that?
Speaker 2 (35:54):
I mean because what you would want is to be
able to play the same game on multiple accounts. You can't.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
But you can't do that. You can't do that now
or ever.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Well, I don't know what I am.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I maybe I'm wrong. I just don't. I don't. I
don't know. I'm very confused. I hope I'm not. I
hope I'm not derailing this.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
I think, like again, I think we just need to
actually use it.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yes, Oh, I'm right.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Once we get it, like a month from now, I'll
be like, oh, now I get it.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
People don't understand that Nintendo has licenses to third party
developers and needs to show their games. Okay, this is
about the actual direct which yeah, I've always said that,
like they have like working relationships with these third parties.
These directs aren't just for Nintendo. Also, a lot of
people are pointing out I said in my video that
this looks like Tomaduchy Life, but on an island, like
(36:48):
animal Crossing, and people pointed out that the first one
or something was also on an island. There. Yeah, I
will see this.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
So for like three to four years, every time I'm
streaming a direct my chat is spamming where's Tomadochun? So
I'm happy for them. I've never played the game. I've
heard it is, you know, really fun. It's a very
silly kind of game. So you know that's great that
there's a sequel coming out.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
I agree, only the switch that bought the game digitally
can play it offline. The digital cartridge allows for a
different switch to play the game offline. That's not true.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Yeah, see it's confusing everybody.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah, I know that's not true. Explained it because the
they're saying only this, only the switch that bought the
game digitally can play it offline. That's not true. He
just thinks that because he doesn't understand how the primary
switch works. You can change what you can change your
primary switch. You can do it like twice a year.
I think you can make a different switch your primary switch.
(37:53):
So any switch can play a game bought digitally. It
doesn't it's not locked to that console. That would be insane. Yeah,
there's there's so much confusion around it. You want to
I kind of want to read more of them. Is
that is that terrible?
Speaker 2 (38:10):
I mean, I guess we can't. I guess, like you know, again,
once it comes out, someone's gonna make a video like
it could be us, it could be someone else, but
like someone has to make a video and just walk
us through it because the way that it was explained
through Nintendo is just way too like perplexing when it
really shouldn't be. Pretty basic. Concept this person concept.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
This person says, you get two primary switches, you can
remove access you don't. No, I know, I know, but
this has six likes. But no, I'm I don't think you.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Can yeah that that it doesn't work that way.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
You can't have two primary He's a primary is a
solo primary? Yes, so what it's a singular number. Sorry,
I'm just I'm just this guy. This guy even left
a comment about it and then crust it out like
he edited it out. The problem with the previous method
(39:02):
is if you play a digital game on a switch
that was not your primary switch, you would have to
be online order to game permission to play it. Yeah,
I did talk about that, all right, I'm I'm getting
out of this.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah, I guess, let's let's move on. You know, there
were other games that were announced there too. Yes, sorry,
I feel like we could probably like talk about this
the whole podcast.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
I know, I know, I I hyper. People get so,
especially on the podcast because it's it's unedited, and people
are like, why diould get so? Why did you get
so fixated on things? I have ADHD and sometimes I
get so hyper fixated on an idea and it's so
funny to me how confusing it is, and me trying
to figure it out is like it's like an itch
(39:43):
in my brain. I just want to keep barreling down
on it.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
You know, it is bizarre that for a Nintendo Direct
you are not fixated on a video game. You're fixated
on a const well.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
I mean, there wasn't much in the way of video games,
to be honest. Do you want to skip to the
good one?
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Yeah? This looked amazing. Oh I really did Super Super.
I really hope this game comes out later in the
year because I want to have time to play the
rest of the Prime games. I've dabbled a little bit
with Metroid, but I've never like finished the game fully.
So after seeing this, I'm just like, man, I've got
to get into these games.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Uh, this one is giving major Metroid Prime one vibes.
I actually saw some people were complaining about that after
this today because they were like, I kind of want that.
They were saying, I kind of wanted Metroid to evolve
and become more open and more like I want to
see like an evolution of Metroid, whereas this is really
going back to its roots, which I said while I
(40:41):
was watching it, it literally looks like a revamped Metroid
Prime one, which, to be honest, I get what they're saying,
but Metroid is in just a really weird place for
a series that's so beloved. The first games, they're very niche,
but they were beloved, and the further they went along
(41:02):
in installments, the less and less people actually played them,
and then the lesson quality some of them got too.
I don't remember liking other m very much. The two
d ones. The highest selling two D one is three million,
and that's very beloved. That was dread. But even then,
it's a niche community, and they had a hard time
making this game right. They had to scrap it in development.
(41:25):
It's taken ten years I think, trying to evolve it
right now and push it past what are we even
pushing it past? Like, what model are we pushing it
past and where are we going when we don't really
even have a vision and we haven't even had a
game like this in twenty years. I think it makes
sense to kind of go back to when it was
pure at its roots, and then if this works, we
(41:48):
do something from here.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Yeah, that's what I was just going to say. Like this,
if you're going to reintroduce a franchise like this without
a brand new game in over a decade, it makes
sense to make it play like Primes one through three,
even Prime Hunters to an extent. But for Prime five,
if the game sells well to do Prime five, then
they should try to expand out, make it open world,
detroid game, you know, go crazy with it.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
But yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
I just I mean, it's not really something I've thought
about until now. But I could see why people are
disappointed by that. But like you know, I haven't a
lot of people are just not Yeah, it's just like,
you know, a lot of people just aren't that familiar
with these games. They don't sell well. So if Prime
four does well, I think they should do it. They
should try an open world or maybe like open zone.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
Yeah zone, just something a bit more like less linear.
I could see that. I think with the linear approach
it's easier to create those traditional like puzzles and like
world challenges. But yeah, I mean I think you kind
of got to take it to its roots and get
people what they love. Don't get too ambitious, because then
you're gonna you're gonna alienate the people that wanted a
(42:54):
sequel because now they have this new thing that's nothing
like what they used to love and they kind of
have to hopefully it's good good. And then you also
have the section of people that like aren't interested in
the first place, and they're not going to buy it anyway,
you know. So yeah, I think just keeping it like
this is smart. I also, yeah, controlling the bullets is
(43:16):
pretty sick.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
I have this little theory that I talked about today.
Do you think this is Switch one that we're seeing?
Speaker 2 (43:25):
Yes, you do. I think it's okay. I think Switch
too is going to look a little more clean. I think,
maybe not cleaned up. I think the lighting will be
dramatically enhanced on Switch to.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
So I it would mean it would be really sick
to see an even more improved version of this.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
But this, to me, I mean, after all this time,
it just I feel like there has to be a
switch to version that we're going to see.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
Oh, I agree for me. The only thing with this
is if this is Switched one, I kind of I
kind of look even worse back at some other games
because this is so clear, so crisp, so clean, with
decent frame rates. From the small clips that we saw here.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
Oh, it's all very I think it's all sixty. I
don't think there's any frame drops.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
I mean, look at like the draw distances here, and
like how clean and crisp everything is in the background,
the fog like I don't know if we've seen this
might be the best looking switch game. If this is
if if this is recorded on even.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
The leaf effects, I know that it's gonna look It
doesn't look great on YouTube because of the way that
it compresses footage, but in game that is going to
look amazing.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
I mean it's going to look cleaner than what we're
even seeing here. Yeah, because this is the compression on
the compression, I don't know, I think this looks shockingly
good for the Switch one.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
Nice. Yeah, yeah, it looks really really nice.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Okay, Well, I hope you're right, because then I hope
there's a switch to version that looks even better, because
that would blow me away. I was almost thinking that, like,
you know, this has been developed on Switch this whole time,
so at its core, like Breath of the Wy, it's
going to be a switch game, you know, with switch
graphics and switch lighting in mind. But maybe they took
this switch game and they just ran it on the
(45:09):
switch to to showcase it and show it off because
it just looks so clean.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
Yeah, I mean they really emphasized this is Switch one games.
I just don't think that they would do that. Like Nintendo.
They even, like you know, they show awful footage all
the time in the direct.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
Yeah, they do it, like you.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
Look at both There was the Fantasy Life game they
showed at the end and it says, really it ran
like five frames a second. It looked did not look
very good. I mean, so I think this is switched
one footage.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
It could yeah, it could go either way. I think
it's like on Pokemon ZNA they say like a little
blurb at the start of like this is like not
final footage, and blah blah blah blah. Sometimes they'll say
recorded on it, blah blah, blah. This says nothing doesn't
tell you where it's recorded. So yeah, I guess we'll see.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
I think I still think it's switched one, but I
guess we'll see.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Here is chuckle Fish, that new game they made walk
Groove in Eastwood. Okay, they have really great pixel lot
and this looks like some kind of big, like open
multiplayer style game. I just love that pixel work is
so cute.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
The the art style kind of reminds me of like
Battle Network on Game Boy Advance.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
Yeah, I can see that.
Speaker 2 (46:27):
Yeah, similar to that.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Then one of my favorites was this Eternal Life of
Goldman with this ah god, the art style is so cool,
like Studio Ghibli.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
I saw it, I'm like, oh, this is very much
like a Cuphead kind of art style.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
Yeah, definitely channeling Cuphead yep.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
And also the Gradiut we could very quickly talk about that.
So I played Gradius on like Super Nintendo years ago,
and I really liked it. So seeing a collection is
really surprising. This is like one of those games from
like the eighties and nineties you wouldn't think would ever
get a revival of any kind, So it's kind of surprised.
Oh and Life Forces here too. Life Force is a
(47:10):
really fun in thes game as well.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
I breathed past these in my reaction, So I'm glad
you said.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
There's not much to say about it. I'm just surprised that,
like this is a thing that's gonna come out.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Yeah, that that's throwing everything at these directs. Now, Yeah,
let me. Actually, one thing I want to show you is, uh,
have you seen the boxot for Metroid Prime?
Speaker 2 (47:34):
For I have? It looks really really cool.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
I got to find it manually.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
But I love that they're going for a like a
more purple tone, which I guess makes sense because like, yeah,
in the game is a psychic ability, but uh, it's
I kind of like it. It looks nice, you know. It's
a nice change from like the green tint that she
usually has. Yeah, that looks that is amazing. Look at that.
Speaker 1 (47:58):
That's pretty sick. Yeah, look at that.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
I'm gonna have to get that game physically, just because
of the boxer looks so good.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
I think we skip bosted. But there's a new like
black and red suit as well that she has that
looks really sick at the very end. Yeah, it would
be cool if she was in that here, but I
get that they want the traditional samus. Look, it's really cool. Yeah,
the purple and the logo too. They've been hinting at
that for a minute. This whole like psychic thing. Every
(48:25):
metroid has like a new gimmick, and this is I
guess the psychic in this one.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Mm hmm. I feel like they didn't even show us
that much. I think there's gonna be a lot of
really cool puzzles and things you do with the psychic ability,
because that's like such a broad idea. Yeah, can really
do a lot with that.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Oh, the game is based around these really clever puzzles.
I think people I saw some people saying the gameplay
looked a little boring. I think I think it was
like they assume that some people have the knowledge of
how fun these games are, and then hey, look we've
added telekinesis to it. So I think we'll get some better,
more clearer looks soon. But I think that first look
(49:01):
we got of it where She's like came out the
spaceship and then was blasting through enemies that that was
very action heavy and showcased a lot of what the
game could do.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I think we've only seen the beginning of that game,
we have not seen anything yet.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
They're hiding a lot of it, I feel like.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Yeah, also very cool to see another Necromancer game. Yeah,
I played. Did you play the Zelda one? I think
it was called like.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
High School something. I got Cadence of Hiral. Yeah, that
was really fun.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
And then this.
Speaker 1 (49:32):
I played this actually two years ago at a Pax.
They've been working on this for a long time. Yeah,
that's cool. It's really fun. It's uh, it's obviously a
rhythm game, but the way they do it, they do
it is very unique. I remember when I was playing
it because the things coming down the thing here are enemies,
(49:52):
and each time you hit one, they act in different ways.
So sometimes you'll hit one and their effect is they'll
go back up and then move over and then you
got to hit them again, or like a whole bunch
of different effects. So it's not as straightforward as just
hitting it in the right time. You see these guys,
they seem to have like three hits of health. So
(50:13):
she hit that one twice already and he's hurt twice,
but she's got to hit it a third time to
actually kill it. So not only are you thinking about
like here's this thing coming. It's how's this thing gonna
react once I hit it? Because then I've got to
do that again. So it's pretty cool. And the music
is really good as well.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
I like that they're they're basically going with the same
concept too of the Crypt game and and Cadence of Hirel,
but now it's like a different I know, kind of
like a good different gameplay style.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
It's very different in they didn't show much around the guitar.
But there's other like mini games that you play like
this one, but and that that's like a whole like
Warrior were side of it.
Speaker 2 (50:54):
Oh that's cool.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
Yeah, so here's.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
This was so what a weird game to get it?
Speaker 1 (51:00):
I know, I know, I I have no idea what's
going on here. I've never played one. I used to
have a tamagotchi when I was a kid, like like
a real one, but I have no idea what this is.
This also looks Warrior whearish.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
Yeah, I mean it kind of reminds me of like
maybe Warrior Wearing Antalcrossing combined, I guess, but more warriorware
because it is just a lot of mini games. So
it's also like you can customize. I don't know, it
just looks weird.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
It does look well.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
I find it funny that the director has Tomagotchi and TOMADATCHI.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
I know it's it was when I was googling to
get logos for the thumbnail for this episode, I was
like Tomogotchi Like, I was like, what wait wait, I'm getting.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
Too confused, super super easy to get mixed up.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
Then we get Pokemon Legends, D and A and more
of a look at that. I just put out a
big video about the trailer at this game, so I
obviously have a lot of thoughts on it. But I
mean there's some shots in the game that look nice
that managed to like cobble together enough variety to kind
(52:11):
of trick your brain into thinking that it looks good.
A lot of it just looks very square to me
and very rigid, just very very basic game design.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
In terms of like the gameplay it is. Actually this
might be an improvement over Arcius, where there's the day
night system where they is when you catch Pokemon. Night
is when you battle trainers, because in Arcius you battle
like twenty trainers in the whole game. I mean there's
almost no Yeah, the fact that they have both now,
I think is is pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
That's a very good point. Yeah, And I don't know.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
If Yeah, I don't know if it's gonna be like
on a cycle where you have to wait between day
and night, or if you can kind of just like
swap on the fly. I hope you can swap on
the fly. That would be that that would be a
lot more fun. But it's at least a way to
differentiate itself from Arcius.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Yeah. No, I think I like a lot of of
what they've added. I also really liked the new combat,
where like it's so free flowing and you can run
around and pull your Pokemon away and it's not all
locked in once you do an attack. You know, That's
what I wanted out of Akias. In fact, it felt
weirdly restricting an acheus, because you had all this freedom
of running around and catching, and then as soon as
(53:20):
you got into a battle, you were like, oh right,
it's like all Pokemon again. Yeah, so this is a
really cool. I love everything they're doing in the gameplay,
and I like the idea of the day and night cycle.
I just just wish it didn't look so damn ugly.
Speaker 2 (53:35):
You know. Yeah, But I mean visuals aside. The game
looks fun, but it does not look great mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
But no, it's cool, it is. I do look forward
to trying out these new mechanics.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Yeah, and Rhythm Heaven. Very surprising to see this.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Yeah, I know, new Rhythm Heaven very bizarre. Nintendo are
just bringing back every franchise, little cocky idea that they
had of previous years. The switch has it all.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
I was hoping for like a Warrior Land today. But
you know what, Rhythm Heaven is kind of like in
that same category where it's like a really niche franchise. Yeah,
so seking. I think the last one, if I'm not mistaken,
was Mega Mix on the three DS, and that was
just a compilation of games from previous Rhythm Heaven titles.
So the fact this is all brand new, that's it's
pretty awesome.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
Yeah, I look forward to that. I WATCHO weird connections
like Tomagotchi, Tamadachi whatever, this one having this weird like
AI voice. I know it's not AI, but like this
weird like AI robot voice, and then the start of
this one or like this, the way they talk. The
whole way they talk is very similar it was like
a lot of a lot of connections in this one.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
Consider that that's true.
Speaker 1 (54:49):
We got high, we got a sizzle real here. We
got high on life coming to the Switch. This is
a very comedic game, I think made by the same
people of like Brick and Morty or.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
It kind of looks like Borderlands a little bit.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Yeah, I can see that. And then Star Overdrive, which
is like a Breath of the Wild on a hoverboard.
I've been interested in checking that one out. Yeah, it
looks pretty cool. Yeah, there was a lot of interesting
games in here. This like weird town building management one
that's on the back of like a dinosaur. Yeah, a
lot of interesting ones here, Saga, Frontier two, Monument Valley, Everybody, Golf,
(55:23):
Marvel Cosmic. Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Actually, if I were more into fighting games, I would
be really into that announcement because it looks like a
very solid beat them up. Yeah. I'm super bad at
fighting titles, so I'm not gonna play it, but uh,
I mean it looks looks good. It looks like a
classic arcade game.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
It is cool. They did a whole new It's not
like a remake of an old it's just a new
Marvel Beat them up in the style of a Super Nintendo.
Speaker 2 (55:45):
Because they've done so many collections of games like this
on the the past few years, so it's neat to
see them doing like a new one.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
And then yeah, Tom a Dacchi Life, which again we
both have admitted we didn't really play.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
Yes, I'm I'm gonna have to because I'm telling you
my chat is like that, this is what they're They've
been fixated on this game for years, I know, and
they finally got it, so I feel like I owe
it to them to at least try out the game.
I've got it. I think I own it on three DS,
so yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
I mean, you have a whole year because it comes
out twenty twenty six, so if you want to catch.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Ut, I got plenty of time to try the games out. Yep.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
Yeah, I mean it's I love the humor that in
the trailer, especially this part here where she gets hug
she gets closer. But other other than some of the
humor here, I'm not sure what you do in this game,
but it's it's nice to see the mes is still
living strong, you know.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
Yeah, I think it's kind of did you play me
Tomo on me? Topop meets Tomo. No, there are two
different things. And Me Tomo also had text to speech
and it had mes, but there wasn't like a whole
game built around. It was basically just like you build
a me and then you can give like a personality
and you could like talk to other mes. So there
wasn't much to it. It was actually Nintendo's very first
(57:01):
mobile app, so this kind of reminds me of that.
But like you know, again, I've never played Tomadauchi Life,
so I'm sure they are much more different.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
Now. I'm just checking my app store because I believe
you told me before we went live that this app
is finally live. Now this new Nintendo today.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
I yeah, I downloaded it like two seconds before we started.
You do have to log into an account that's a
Nintendo count.
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Yeah to do that later. So this is a new
app that gives you daily Nintendo news, and they said,
want to switch to April second direct happens, they'll be
daily Nintendo switch to news delivered to you directly through
this app. The only reason I like that is because
I'm trying to use Twitter less and less. I'm belly
ever on it, so if I can just get my
(57:49):
Nintendo news through an external app through this, I mean,
that's good. It's one of the only reasons I use
Twitter is to make sure I'm not missing a direct.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
So I mean, there's there's two reasons I still use Twitter.
Like one, it's because Nintendo is still there, so now
I can kind of eliminate using it because of this.
And then two it is a good place the network
still like, there are still a lots it's annoying. Yeah,
so I'm probably gonna still keep using it at this point.
I might just use it to network and that's it.
(58:16):
Not even look through the timeline. Yeah, and that's how
it opens. Mario runs across the screen and then you're
prompted to like log in. I still got to do that.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
But okay, I don't know if my log in is automatic.
Let me see if I can. Oh wait, yeah, I
think I'm logged in if this is the right wood.
If it's the right wood, because I have two woods
and I would like to log in with my American account,
but it looks like I'm in.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Oh you know what, It's okay, this is working for
me as well. This really just reminds me of the
news app that's already on the.
Speaker 1 (58:52):
Switch, select a game series that you would like to
represent the app. That's cool, Okay, well I'm gonna do Zelda.
Obviously you can receive information each day about the game
series you're interested in. Ah, there as well, let's go
(59:13):
all right. So oh and then you select let's do
a whole thing. I'm interested in Mario, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Pickman,
Kirby Fire Emblem, Metroid, Zeno Blade, not Warrior where I
don't need it, Donkey Kong Classics don't need those.
Speaker 2 (59:27):
Whoa hold on, Hold on, look at this. This has
a guide to beating World one in supers. Finally, it's
really funny.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
I never thought something would come that would help me
with that Metal Metroid Stories Part one.
Speaker 2 (59:44):
There's concept a red on you. Okay, this is kind
of cool.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
There's a lot of more stuff on here than I expected. Wow,
there's a whole thing on Zeno Blade too. This concept
up for Xeno Blade as well. All right, maybe this
app is worth clicking around.
Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Yeah, maybe I think we'll really know. Wants to switch too?
Is now or.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Clickab direct happens? Says clickbait? Ah, let's just say clickbait.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
I think that's just the name of the song.
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Oh wait, I can add wait what I can add
it as a widget to my phone. Oh that's really
bad because then when you then I don't even have
to open the app, it just gives it to me
on the widget at the news.
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Now, the question is are they going to offer new
news for the switch too, or is it gonna just
be like regurgitated from directs.
Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
It will be interesting to see, Like imagine if news
breaks on the app first and everyone's like, check your app.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
I mean, hey, it's not a bad idea, like if
they really want to curate it and not have to
deal with like Twitter comments. So maybe that's the goal.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
When you load the calendar, you can click on a
date and they'll have little stars next to it if
something's happening.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Oh so that's actually really helpful for like game releases.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
That's got the direct on the fourth, the Nintendo New
York experience, Wow on the On the eleventh, Nintendo switched
to in London. Oh yeah, all right, and then Dallas.
I can see when they all start Tokyo and then
what's this one? In middle of June, Nintendo switched to
(01:01:25):
release date what it says On June fifteenth, the Switch releases.
Now I'm kidding. Oh my god, how cool would that be?
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Though? Imagine they accidentally put that in.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
They left it in? Ye, all right, I think we
I think that was it right.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
We covered pretty much every single game.
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Yeah, Chat, what did we miss? Because I couldn't see
you guys, because I have to have discord over here
with his lovely face in it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
I have not looked at any of Chat yet.
Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
I haven't either, really, I'll take a peek. Let me
know if we missed anything, uh, anything you want us
to talk about quickly before we get out of here.
I think there was something else. There was something else
I pinned in my documents. Let me check real quick. Uh,
and Chat, I will let you know now. And patreons,
(01:02:17):
I'm not gonna do a bonus today. I am absolutely wiped.
I'll give you a double next week. I promise there'll
be more. There'll be way more to talk about next week, anyway,
because it'll be the day after the Nintendo switch to
Direct mm hmm. So trust me, you're gonna you're gonna
want it, You're gonna love it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
I was seeing a lot of Chat saying it's a
more kid friendly version of Twitter, like the the Nintendo
Today app. Yeah, yeah, which, yeah, I think I think
that's that's definitely true. I mean it's cute.
Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
It's it's like a it's like a newsletter. It's like
a little Nintendo magazine, but like online forum Nintendo Today.
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
I get it. I get what they're going for. It's
just it's hard to get anybody to use a new
app or commit to a new app, especially if it's
just like news for like one specific company. But yeah,
it's Nintendo. I'm sure they'll find a way to make
it fun.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
I wonder if this app will be integrated into switch
to it all, Like, are they gonna have their own
social media like they did with the WU.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Or is this just for the app and that's it.
I think it's just for the app. I mean, they
have their other online app for integration and stuff. But
I guess we'll see. Yeah, yeah, I guess someone in
chat saying not.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Talk so I saw that it is. I believe that
was a game on the PSP. I don't know much
about it, but it is funny because I was able
to tell right away, just like by the way the
game looked, like, oh, this is a PSP game. Mm hmm,
and yeah, apparently it was, which that's pretty cool. I
think that's a Sony property. So it's another Sony game
getting added to the switch.
Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
Yeah, that's that is Actually did not know that was
a Sony PSP game. Yeah, I have no thoughts head
empty on that one.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
I've never I've never played it. I could just tell
based off of out look, like, oh yeah, this is
mid two thousands PSP right here.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Oh that's cool. Act they should add like a Loco Moco.
That's a really good PSP game.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
I believe they should. I believe you. I trust you.
It is the chat, the chat chats all about it.
They're going crazy right now. Someone said, Heyward, do you
think ZNA would take place in pastor present? I have
no idea. Uh, do you think I'll have multiplayer?
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
I think if it had multiplayer, they would have shown
us that already.
Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
Probably the preorder date might have got leaked. I'm going
to end the episode today and I'm gonna look at Twitter,
and there's going to be a million things that have
come out, trust me. Yeah, let me just double check. Uh,
I'm not seeing anything official. I'm seeing a lot of
studio ghibli Ai R that apparently is blowing up online
(01:04:52):
today for some reason. Still no word on Yeah, still
no word on win Waker or Twilight Princess unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
I mean yeah, I think out of all of the
like Core franchise, it's the only one I think we
might have seen today was a Kirby remake like Planet
Robot or something. But I was not expecting Prime two
or three. It wasn't really expecting three Dzelda. I think
it's just it's just not the direct for it. Like
the games will come eventually, but it's just not the
right time.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
I see a tweet that says retro studios out here
making every Nitwitch developer look silly, including Nintendo's other first
party devs, with a screenshot of the game's visuals. Yeah,
that's what I'm saying, Like, if this is Switch one
graphics Switch one running locally, what have we been doing
for the last eight years? Why is this the only
studio that can do this? And why have they been
(01:05:42):
locked to one game for a decade.
Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
This game looks amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Not Moco. That's my bad, Loco Roco, No that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
I switch true. Preorders start April second, according to Best Buy. Well, yeah, yeah,
after the direct, that's what IGN said. Yeah, after the direct. Yeah,
I'll be well yeah, all right, that's it I think everybody. Uh, Nate, Nathan, Nathaniel,
thank you so much for joining me today. Worse yeah,
(01:06:16):
last minute, and I really appreciate it. Guys, what a
fun day. I can't believe we got a direct out
of heck and nowhere. I'll see you all in a
week with another direct reaction.
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
Less than a week, six days actually.
Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
Six days actually crazy patreons again. I'll make it up
to you next week. I am all talked out today.
I got up at nine am. It is five pm.
I've been doing nothing but talking. I am done. I
will hit you next week. Everyone. Check out Nathaniel Bandy
on YouTube. I'm gonna spam the link in the chat. No,
(01:06:52):
thank you, you're welcome. I gotta find it though, I
wasn't my screen just bruise. Whoa what what timing? Why
did it do that? What happened?
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
No, well I can still hear you. Go check him,
go check him out. Yeah, Nathaniel, uh, but what what
do you think of the direct? Give me your give
me your honest thoughts.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
I thought it was fine, it was okay.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Oh man, would you like it if people came and
like checked out your channel after today?
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
That would be fantastic.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Yes, all right, all right, thank you buddy. All right,
I'll see you guys next time.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Bye. Hey you guys,
