(00:00):
Four seasons Federal Credit Union, andwe're going to the Hamilton's hotline. Hamilton's
with two locations over there on Magnoliaand Ogletree, And we're going to bring
in the honorable Mayor of the Cityof Auburn, my good friend and Jeff's
good friend or somewhat friend, theMayor, Ronald Andrew's. Good morning,
Mayor, good morning. It's alwaysalways proud to be a part of the

(00:20):
Patch and Scratch shows, specially whenit's Derby week. I know the distraction
level is high for U. DMark. Thank you. I appreciate the
fact that you're interested in what goeson and the cities that you reside in,
because I know you'd prefer to bein Louisville watching horses eat out of
buckets. But I appreciate your desireand interest in what goes on the city
of Auburn. Well, you arequite welcome, and you know I care.

(00:43):
And first off, you sound somuch better than you did last week.
But I'm glad you're feeling I hopeyou're feeling bad. Last week was
an unusual week, d Martin, but we got through it. And I'll
take that hanging curveball and say thankyou to all the great medical care we
have it starting to find I wasin a situation I didn't expect to be
in. It was a surprise, and I was well taken care of by

(01:06):
those in our community that that istheir charge and their job. And I'm
vy vy v thankful for that.We got some outstanding nurses, technicians,
doctors and alp uplaca. We shouldall be blessed. Those people have sought
to do their careers uh here amongstus. So let me say this,
and the honorable of Alvin Briggs isthe one that got out out on the

(01:29):
radio, just so you know.It wasn't it got out, but hey,
you're doing I know, hip,I know hipper rules don't always the
radio stair no, no, buthey we did right though it didn't come
from me, Mayor. We keptit quat, We kept it quiet.
So I appreciate that. And Idon't think that they've done anything with um
with disregarding any type of photographs ofour murals at the mall. Okay,

(01:53):
no, because Jeff as he justtakes one that's going on, so we
kept it from him. Mayor. How about that, I don't know.
I just thought it was all right, mayor tell us about last night past
during the community the whole we've made. We had three different um vacancies on
our Historic Preservation Commission. We've beensitting on this for a couple of months,

(02:15):
really asking our community to think aboutthis manner of service and would they
be you know, and to fillout an application and seek to serve our
community through this. That we receivedthree applications recently, d Mark. So
we made an appointment last night ofMichelle Held and John Smith to this Stort

(02:36):
Preservation Commission. Those the three yearterms I'll start immediately and run for until
twenty six. We're gonna we heldoff on filling the last spot. We're
going to continue to evaluate that applicationand look for other applications before we make
that appointment. This Storic Preservation Commissiond Mark, unlike a lot of our
boards and commissions, has very specificcriteria that a person who holds that appointment

(03:01):
is should have held should have. They should be an architect or in the
design profession. They should have somekind of historical vocation or interest that shows
that they have been involved in historyfor a long time. Or they can
be a property owner or live inthe Historic District. So it's not like
just anybody that lives in Auburn canserve on the Historic Reservation Commission. You've

(03:23):
got to fill one of those criteria. That's why it's a little harder to
find people to serve in this particularinstance. But we've got two excellent candidates
that we appointed last night. Iappreciate them willing to do that. I
want to say thank you to SteveManos and Royce Tabler and Stephen Wattsworth for
this service as we got into theregular agenda. Last night was the first

(03:44):
million the months we recognized our employeeof the month. The marking employe of
the month is Justin Foster. Heworks in engineering services and I've got a
memorandum here written by Alison Frazier regardingJustin. His primary responsibilities in inspection of
water mains, Sanitario Stewart lines, and storm sewer installation. He also inspects
the grading and pavid the new streetstot sure they meet the City of Auburn

(04:05):
in Alabama Department Transportation specifications. Dueto his hard working dedication, he was
promoted to Inspector two in June totwenty one. Since his promotion. He
has been a project manager for thecity's Angles Street restriping project. He also
handles day to day questions from inspectorsin response to contractors questions. He was
a recent inspector for the recent additionof BUCkies to the City of Auburn,

(04:29):
which meant he had a lot ofa lot of work to do in a
time. We fashion trying to assistBUCkies in getting open and they're long anticipated
opening a couple of months ago.But Justin's the great employee. Would proud
to honor him. Last night. We also recognized Dustin Asher, Jacob Barger
and Logan Webster for five years,Nicholas Alms from Police Department for ten landa

(04:49):
Denar from Fire for fifteen and JoshDantoff in Amber English for twenty years.
I always think our great staff inthe regularly gender. Last night, d
Mark, the City Council received thetwenty twenty two Municipal Water Pollution Prevention Report
d Mark. There's a lot ofinformation about this. I encourage people,
if you're interested to please go tothe city's website and go to our packet

(05:14):
information for last night's meeting, andyou've got a lot of data that you
can access there to explain to youhow this report is put together for people
who like simple things like you andI know that seven hundred and eighty three
points is the worst you can get, all right, when it comes down
to water pollution prevention reports, sevenhundred and eighty three. We've got two

(05:38):
facilities our HC. Morgan water PollutionControl Facility in our north Side water pollution
control facility that we maintain an offer. HC. Morgan has thirty seven points.
In North Sidewater has twenty six points. That's a long ways from seven
hundred and eighty three. All thatto say thank you to our staff in
Water Resource Management for doing a fantastictie to take care of this service,

(06:02):
a service that we all need.We all smirk when we think about,
but it's very important to your city. If you sewers aren't working d Mark
boy hiding, believe me, there'llbe a lot of do rest in your
community. Nobody wants to talk aboutit until there's a problem, a problem,
this problem. So these people doa thankless job working in an area

(06:26):
that must just be honest, thatmost of us would never want to work
in. When they do that tobenefit the citizens of the city and I
think them to that. City councilproved the contract with Harder Communications to install
overhead utility lines underground in downtown Auburn, and I'll get to the point of
that here in just a minute.Really looking forward to that. City Council

(06:47):
also approved the contract with Inline Electricto replace the signal pole and a decorative
base at the northeast corner of SouthCollege and that Steve Marn't. We had
a little accident recently, and sothe accident and perpetrators insurance will pay the
city back to this, but we'rehaving out late thirty seven thousand dollars get
this equipment brought in. The CityCouncil approved an additional payment to Matching Machesney

(07:11):
for the cities in an audit annualaudit of eight thousand dollars. City Council
isn't going to undergo a solid wasterate study. We do this about every
ten years. It's our responsibility,we believe, to the citizens of Auburn
to go and and evaluate how muchit's costing us to do business, what
it's going to cost us from peopleand capital equipment to keep up with the

(07:35):
population and these of our community. And so we've got to go and we
really need to study that to makesure that we're collected the types of revenues
that keeps the Solid Waste Enterprise Fundoperating without having to utilize general fund money
to get this day to day work. That fund should be independent of the

(07:56):
general Fund. And so we're justgoing to do We're gonna do a study.
We're gonna spend forty thousand dollars. We're going to study this. See
whe our rates are, see whatour future its side if we have to,
if if we have to make arate increase, we will advertise that
we will. We will make ourcase to the community understood that this is
why we're doing it and this iswhat it is, and we will have

(08:18):
a public meeting with a public hearingthat you can come and speak to the
City council regarding that we're a longway from that happening. This is just
a study. Then the city Councilalso proved the purchase of four portable traffic
signals. It's one hundred and fiftythousand dollars. It's the sign of the
times d mark of But we're gettingprojects done, but we can't get our

(08:39):
intersections open because we can't get thepower poles. We can't get the lightholes
with the stop lights because of supplychain issues. But we've started buying that
ahead of time, but it's becomessuch a problem that we're going to order
these portable situations. So if weget a brand new intersection that needs to

(09:00):
open up, but we don't havethe stoplight or the poles, then we
can go ahead and do it froma portable standpoint and set that up and
allow traffic to start flowing in andout of there. So that's it's just
another sign of the time. It'sexpenditure that the city has to take in
this day that we live in withthe challenges that we have with supply chain.
As we got into ordinances last night, we approved some stop signs in

(09:24):
twenty five mile hour signs in thelandings. New development decisions that we normally
make when the contracts and agreements reallysomething we're excited about it. We approved
the contract with jail D Enterprises forforty five four point five million dollars for
the Martin Luther King Drive Streetscape project. This is Highway fourteen Martin Luther King
Drive. This has been needed fora long time. This will in big

(09:48):
picture, this will take you fromShook Jordan into Donahue and we're gonna add
meetings, We're gonna add trees,We're gonna add lighting, we're gonna ad
sidewalks. It's gonna make that entrypoint into Auburn much better, much more
professional, much more appealing. Andit's going to give the good people to
live in Northwest Auburn a lot ofpride that the entry point in the road

(10:09):
that really forms one side of theircommunity is We've going to spend a lot
of money on that to make it, make it, dress it up,
and make it a look better. We hope there's some pieces of property right
there that we can attract some investmentof, some type of retail professional use
to bring some businesses back to NorthwestAuburn as well. City count has also

(10:31):
proved an agreement with the Pear TreeGroup which is basically do a business at
a Hound the two days. Numberone is a license agreement and number one
is the infrastructure development agreement. Rightnow, the Hound is using some city
space to do outdoor dining. Asyou face the parking deck in the interior
downtown Auburn. They they want togo and spend almost a half million dollars

(10:58):
in their own learney making that anddressing that up and making it more appropriate
and getting more use out of itand certainly driving more revenue walk customers.
We all think that's a great idea. They're making a good run of it,
just kind of throwing some picnic tablesout there, but this would be
making a really first class outdoor divingexperience. So the city Council went on
all of that. We also havea kind of a a goofy side walt

(11:20):
that leads into our city meeting roomthat doesn't meet AD eight standards that while
the currenttractors doing this work, theycan also help improve this sidewalk. So
we're going to pay their contractor whythey're there, twenty two thousand dollars to
improve our sidewalk and they get usthrough our agenda. Last night, the
Mark Couple announcements I want to makenot this thearity, but next starity is

(11:41):
stamp out hunger. It's tough teamingfor you to leave food by your mailbox.
You're postal worker will pick that upand deliver that food to the food
bank. Of the style of Bauma. We encourage people to participate in that
and help support those people in ourcommunity that are still food insecure. I
want to congratulate our high school girlsstate girls tennis team for being state champions.

(12:03):
They wanted a dominating fashion last weekendin Mobile and we'll be proud of
them. Congratulations ladies for great programand winning championship. We'll be proud of
you. Tomorrow, I'll be withMayor Fuller, if the lead County Youth
Development, celebrating their fiftieth anniversary. What an group of unsung heroes in our
community that provide a such a neededservice to those who a lot of times

(12:28):
d mark are out of hope andthey're out of places to go, and
they need somebody to love on themand to provide directions for them and sometimes
accountability for them. And what LauraCooper and her staff do every day to
to invest and sometimes reinvest in thechildren youth that are having struggles is to
be celebrated, and we look forwardto celebrating the great history of that that

(12:52):
important group of people tomorrow morning andthen Mayor Fuller and I will go over
to Court Square at the orders ofthe First Lady of Opalika and we'll participate
again in the National Day of Prayerat Courthouse Square and I'm proud to be
a part of that. I wantto thank law Full her passion, her
desire, her organization to make thatevent happen every year, and I look

(13:16):
forward to being with Gary for that. I want to announced everybody the Mayor's
Moorial Day Breakfast will take place againthis year and offering on Themorial Day vie
you just didn't athlete. Go tothe city's website and purchase your tickets.
It's a great event. Or werecognize local members of the military who have
served our country admirably and it shouldbe a fun morning. And then will

(13:37):
lay reath at the Veterans Memorial afterthat is over with. And then this
weekend is graduation weekend in for AuburnUniversity. There'll be a lot of families
in town celebrating the great contributions ofthe great efforts excuse me, of their
children over the last four or fivesix years as they have earned Auburn University
degree. We're thankful for graduation.Instead of board an economic stimulus the dark

(14:01):
community and I would imagine dope likeas well. It's probably gonna be hard
to get into, particularly nicer restaurantsthis weekend, and but we're very excited
about that. And just on apersonal note, I'm be excited because my
daughter will be graduated Charity one ina day to clock. That's unreal,
Mayor, that's so good for her, thankful for her. She's gone about
her business at Auburn. I'm veryproud of her and look forward to being

(14:24):
one of those parents this weekend thatcelebrates the graduation with their children and they
get to through ourgent the last night. Well, let me tell you that
last part is the most important. All of its important, but in your
life. I'm glad to see Camillegrad that. It seemed like yesterday,
Mayor, she just walked off atAuburn, and I mean at Auburn and
High. Amen. Did she gothree years or just yesterday we were going

(14:46):
to Daddy daughter to day nighting.I know you and your son caught a
pass at BULLTOF Stadium at night.I went crazy yesterday like a radio announcer,
got more fired up. Yeah hedid, Yeah he did. That's
my buddy, Patty. But yeah, well that's awesome. I'm so glad.
That'll be a big day for youand your family. So yes,
yeah we were forward the celebrating. But I'm very proud of her. She's

(15:07):
done it for years. She'll beuh leaving soon to go to d C.
The Senator tub Bill and be proudof her for that as well.
Yeah, she get her in theloop on the mark up there. I
like that. Maybe she she canbe my contact. So yeah, they're
good folks up there. I likethey're they're from around here too. We
got some valley people up there. We got some um good local folks at

(15:28):
work in his office. So I'mglad and meals getting go with your hunter
Dad were up there and be excitingabout her. That's an awesome off TV
right out of college to have thatexposure in that's but anyway, all right,
that's our that's our agenda, andthat's what we got done last night.
