A bombshell new account alleges Andrew Mountbatten Windsor brought prostitutes into Buckingham Palace for years while staff who complained were warned to keep quiet, with royal biographer Andrew Lownie claiming even the late Queen knew and nothing was done. As Deep Crown dissects how the system really works, Andrew digs in over his eviction from Royal Lodge, demanding staff, space and financial guarantees that William is unlikely to honour. Add in a congressional summons he is said to be terrified of, a panicking Sarah Ferguson, a glitchy royal website still calling him The Duke of York, and towns wrestling with street names that suddenly feel toxic, and it is clear the Andrew problem is nowhere near solved.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Caloroga Shark Media. Hello and welcome to Palace Intrigue. I'm
your host, Francis. As you've noticed over the last couple
of weeks, we've been doing a bonus episode every day
to cover all the news that's been coming out of
Buckingham Palace on the Andrew fallout. With all the overwhelming

(00:26):
support you've been giving us, we're going to continue these
episodes as there is a lot of news to cover
and will continue to do so, and if there's a
quiet day, we'll just stick to our original one episode.
But for now, enjoy two episodes of Palace Intrigue every
day Monday through Friday. On the weekends you'll get new
episodes of our Crown and Controversy series Prince Andrew, as

(00:48):
well as the original series. Plus you have Palace Weekly
on Sundays and Deep Crown for subscribers. There's a lot
going on and thank you very much for all your support.
Moving on with today's afternoon edition of Palace Intrigue, a
new report claims Andrew mount Batten Windsor brought prostitutes into
Buckingham Palace for years and that his mother, Queen Elizabeth

(01:11):
knew but chose not to act. The allegations come from
royal historian Andrew Lowney, author of entitled The Rise and
Fall of the House of York, who told news nations
Paul A Frolic that palace staff raised repeated concerns about
Andrew's conduct, only to be warned to stay silent. Lowney
said he brought him prostitutes to bugging and palace for

(01:32):
years it was done on a regular basis. People who
work there complained to people in command, but nothing was done.
The security that complained were told, if you would like
to go back on the beat in Brixton, you had
that choice, but otherwise you keep quiet. Of course the
Queen knew, she was informed, but he was her favorite son,
and he got away with everything. They brushed it under
the rug. Until now, the historian said, former palace employees

(01:55):
and government officials have begun coming forward with new information
about what went on behind closed doors. They are no
longer scared to talk or come out and tell the
world what really happened, now that Andrew has been removed
from power and no longer protected by the Queen. Royal
inside a deep Crown commented, let's be very clear about
something Elizabeth was nobody's full She was one of the

(02:17):
most astute political operators this country has ever seen, a
woman who navigated seven decades of constitutional crises, families, scandals,
and shifting public sentiment with remarkable skill. The idea that
she was some naive mother protecting her wayward son out
of blind maternal devotion is patronizing nonsense. If she knew
what Andrew was doing, and I'm not conceding that point,

(02:39):
her calculations would have been far more complex than simple favoritism.
You don't have prostitutes regularly entering Buckingham Palace without a
systemic breakdown in protocols. Security officers don't get threatened with
reassignment unless there's an institutional decision to suppress information. This
would have required coordination at multiple levels, which makes the

(02:59):
Queen knew and did nothing narrative rather too convenient. But
here's what I will say. The Palace has always operated
on a principle of containing scandal rather than confronting it
head on, and that approach has repeatedly failed the institution.
Andrew is reportedly digging in his hills as he prepares
to leave Royal Large, making fresh demands before agreeing to

(03:20):
vacate the Windsor residence following King Charles's decision to strip
him of his royal titles and beginner viction proceedings. Andrew
is said to be insisting on an appropriate home and
a rota of staff fit for the son, however, debased
of a queen and the father of two royal princesses.
According to The Daily Mail, the disgraced royal is allegedly
demanding a personal cook, housekeeper and secretary cum butler, as

(03:43):
well as gardeners. He also reportedly wants the right to
roam on the grounds of his next home, refusing to
be confined to coarters. Andrew has been banned from riding
on Windsor Castle's grounds to keep him out of the
public view, sources say, and negotiations over his next residence,
believed to be a smaller property on the Sandringham State,
have become increasingly tense. One insider told the paper Andrew

(04:04):
will certainly go quietly and allow the royal family to
save face, but he has conditions and he isn't prepared
to give much ground on them. The former Duke of
York is also said to be seeking guarantees that his
financial support went disappear once Prince William becomes king. For now,
his move from Royal Lodge remains unresolved and far from quiet.

(04:26):
Our royal inside a Deep Crown tells us William isn't
bound by any arrangement Charles makes with Andrew constitutionally or practically.
The moment William becomes king, he controls the Duchy of
Lancaster income and makes his own decisions about who receives what.
And given William's views on streamlining the monarchy and his
personal feelings about the damage Andrew has done to the institution,

(04:47):
I wouldn't bet a penny on those guarantees holding Andrew
seems to think he can negotiate his way into permanent security,
but he's fundamentally misreading the situation. William has watched his
uncle drag the family through s andle after scandal, and
he's got a long memory. Charles may feel some fraternal
obligation to keep Andrew housed and funded, but William he'll

(05:08):
do what serves the crown, and Andrew should prepare himself
for that reality. Royal expert Phil Dampiers has a new
summons from a US Congressional committee as Andrew worried, Dampier
tells the son, just when you think it can't get
any worse for Prince Andrew, it seemingly does. He's had
his title stripped away from him by the King, and

(05:28):
now he's got this summons from a congressional committee in
the States. Dampier added that while Andrew is unlikely to
be forced to appear before the committee, the situation underscores
his growing isolation. I don't think he's actually been ordered
or can be compelled to go. I certainly don't think
it's likely he's going to travel to the United States.

(05:48):
I know that Andrew mount Batton Windsor, as he now is,
is terrified that if he goes abroad he might be
arrested and extradited to the States. That's about as likely
as me flying to the moon, to be honest, Sarah
Ferguson is said to be panicking and deeply worried about
what lies ahead for her disgraced former husband. According to
The Daily Mail, Sarah has been confiding in friends about
her fears that Andrew could be targeted as renewed scrutiny

(06:11):
surrounds Epstein's network and the Royal's role in it. The
source said they have been heard having some pretty intense
conversations about what is going on. Sarah in particular, is
panicking about what comes next, and she is not in
a good place. She fears being caught in the crosshairs.
Is worried about herself and her and Andrew's daughter's Beatrice
and new Genie, but she is particularly fearful for Andrew,

(06:34):
as she knows he was at the center of the
Epstein scandal. She has talked about dark forces potentially targeting him.
The sources added that she's doing everything she can to
shield her family, though there's a growing sense that events
are beyond her control. Andrew, now known simply as Andrew
mount Batton Windsom, has maintained his innocence and denied all
allegations relating to Epstein, but the royal family's efforts to

(06:57):
distance themselves from him, including removing his titles and evicting
him from a royal lodge, have left him increasingly isolated
more palace in just a moment, a curious royal website
update has raised eyebrows after Andrew was once again listed
as the Duke of York on the official line of

(07:18):
Succession Page, despite having been formally stripped of that title.
The Palace has not commented on why the former title
has reappeared, leaving observers puzzled. Some suggest it might be
a technical oversight on the website, while others view it
as an awkward contradiction to the King's decisive move to
remove his brother's royal privileges. When we last checked, the

(07:41):
succession page's phrasing was at number seven Princess Lilabert of Sussex.
Eight the Duke of York. No name mentioned, just the
Duke of York. Nine Princess Beatrice, Missus Eduardo Mappelli Mozzi.
Street names continue to be a storyline in the village
of Hellesden population eleven thousand. The residents of Prince Andrew's

(08:02):
Road have found themselves living with a name that now
makes many uncomfortable. Shelle Gurney, a council of representing the area,
says it's not so simple. It would be very difficult
to obtain a consensus of all residents, she explained, noting
that every one of the one hundred and seven households
on the street and adjoining Cul de Sac would need
to agree. My emails clearly indicate that this would not
be achieved even if residents managed to unite. Gurney warned

(08:25):
that the effort would come with significant disruption. Every homeowner
would need to update deeds, utilities, insurance, passports, driving licenses,
voter rolls, tax forms, and even the microchips identifying their pets. Ironically,
the street wasn't actually named after the disgraced royal at all.
It commemorates his grandfather, Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark,
who died in nineteen forty four and remains a largely

(08:47):
forgotten figure in British royal history. Still, for the people
of Hellesden, that nuance has done little to ease the
embarrassment of living on a road named Prince Andrews. Elsewhere,
reminders of Andrew's former status ac quired, disappearing in London's
Fitzrovia district. The Duke of York pub removed a sign
featuring his likeness earlier this year, and abroad, questions are

(09:08):
being raised in Canada, where Prince Andrew Island in Ontario's
where Tonabe River may soon be renamed. The island lies
within Selwyn Township, home to Lakefield College School, once proud
to count the young Prince among its students, but now
even there, the mayor has confirmed that the council will
take up the matter at its next meeting. There you

(09:30):
have it. I hope you're enjoying this extra bonus episode
of Palace Intrigue, and we will continue to bring these
to you every day Monday through Friday, for the foreseeable future.
I'm my Francis my thanks to John mcdermoy. This is

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
