Magazine. Each week, Paranormality Magazineexplores all forty en subjects, from phantoms
to UFOs and every cryptid creature inbetween. Each week you're treated to a
collection of well researched and investigated stories, interviews and reports on cutting edge paranormal
projects and topics they know you crave. And here in the podcast, I
(00:44):
share stories from the magazine to giveyou just a taste of what you receive
in every issue. I'm Darren Marler, and this is Paranormality Magazine. Just
(01:04):
a little after midnight one November nights. In two thousand and seven, a
pair of mysterious cryptids walked across afamily's lawn in Fresno, California. The
footage went viral and became an Internetsensation. The walking pants became the cute
and cuddly face of cryptozoology. Theywalked across the screen in such a silly
(01:26):
and ridiculous fashion that most of uscouldn't help but instantly fall in love with
the little guys. And that ispretty much where the story concluded. A
paranormal reality show here or there wouldcover the topic. Discussion boards would debate
the validity of the footage, usuallyending in an agreement that at least they
were adorable, and the weirreabounts ofthe man who filmed the events was left
(01:49):
to mystery. Case closed? Right? But what if I told you there
was so much more to the story. What if the cuddly and adorable Fresno
Nightcrawlers or something so much more complicatedand mysterious. Nick Vealnezuela went to the
actual grounds of the Fresno Nightcrawlers incidentand spoke to the family who experienced the
(02:13):
ordeal. Here's the story that hetells. A drive into Fresno on a
blistering one hundred degree day in June. The sun is scorching Highway ninety nine
as I roll into town. Thetown is alive and bustling on a Saturday
afternoon and is in full swing ofsummer fun. My purpose is to uncover
some truth about a dark and coldnight back in November of two thousand and
(02:38):
seven. I pull up to anormal looking house in what looks like a
typical California neighborhood. In the drivewayawaiting me as a man named Rogelio,
brother to Jose, who originally filmedthe Nightcrawler footage. Jose unfortunately passed away
in twenty fourteen. However, atRogilio was there for every part of the
(02:58):
Night Crawler saga. He and hisbrother experienced this together, and it was
one part of a powerful bond thetwo brothers shared. Rogelio keeps a picture
of himself alongside his brother as hisphone screensaver, and meet Rosselio on the
same lawn that two mysterious beings traversedfifteen years ago. Rogelio is about to
(03:19):
tell me about that night and somuch more. Jose lived with his family
in the heart of Fresno. Theirneighborhood of residents had a bicycle thief in
their midst, so Jose decided toinstall a surveillance system. One camera was
set up to directly overlook the frontyard of their house. One night,
the family dog began barking to anextreme degree. Jose turned on the monitor
(03:43):
linked to the surveillance system. Josegrabbed his camcorder to record the monitor in
the hopes of catching whatever caused thedog to go off. Jose witnessed two
beings walk across his lawn. Theseentities are now infamous in their description.
Almost all left with a small stumphead. They walk in a very uncanny
(04:03):
valley type of manner that comes offas clumsy and awkward. The beings pass
a small tree as they make theirway across the lawn. In comparison to
this tree, the beings should beroughly about two feet tall. In shock,
Jose called out to Rogelio and showedhim the footage. Both were in
astonishment of what they witnessed. Thefirst being walks by and appears to look
(04:29):
up at the camera. Rogelio statedthat in the original footage from his brother's
camera, you could tell the beinghad large, solid black eyes. This
detail will come back into play later. Both beings seem to be wearing little
capes or have loose skin around thebottom of their legs. The two brothers
stepped outside onto their lawn and lookedaround for any sign of the creatures.
(04:51):
They were only met with the coldair of the night and an unnerving feeling
that they witnessed something beyond comprehension. However, according to Rogelio, Jose felt
something else, utter fear. Thenext morning, Jose and Riggelio discuss what
happened. Both come to the agreementthat this is not a prank. I
(05:14):
asked Bragelio if there was any reasonas to why someone would prank his family.
Braggelio was adamant that his family gotalong with the entire neighborhood except for
one particular family. When I inquireabout the possibility of a prank from that
family, Ragelio gives a very directanswer. They wouldn't have played a prank.
They would have most likely did adrive by if they were upset.
(05:38):
While Rogelio and Jose were in agreementthat the footage was not a prank,
the two differed on what to dowith the footage. Bragelio felt that they
should just let it be and seewhat happens. Jose, on the other
hand, wanted everyone to see thefootage. He felt compelled to share it
with as many people as possible.Jose contacted the local Univision news station and
(05:59):
they had osea come down to theTV station. As Jose showed the footage
to a reporter, she requested thather cameraman get the footage as quickly as
possible so that they could have footageready for air that day. He then
proceeded to film Jose's footage from aTV monitor with his camera to recap.
The quality of the footage that wouldintroduce the world to the Nightcrawlers was as
follows. Step one consumer grade nightvision camera hooked up to a CCTV system
(06:26):
which films the Nightcrawlers. Step twocamquorder recording of the CCTV system. Monitor
recording footage of Nightcrawlers from the TVmonitor. Step three cam quarter footage played
on TV monitor at Univision, whichis filmed by another camera. This is
the footage that airs on Univision anda copy is made for an investigator named
(06:46):
Victo Kamasho by Jose. Step four, Victor Kamasho presents footage at moufon conference
and the projection screen showing the Nightcrawlerfootage is videotaped by an audience member from
another camcorder. This is the footagethat originally goes viral. The empirical evidence
is a copy of a copy ofa copy. This is the quality of
footage that is most analyzed. Thefootage was featured the very next day on
(07:13):
the Primer Impacto show. The segmentseemed to generate a lot of speculation,
so Univision wanted an expert source onthe case. A contacted Victor Camacho,
who hosted a very popular Spanish radiotalk show on topics of high strangeness called
Los Desvalados. Victor made the drivefrom Los Angeles to Fresno and examined the
footage in person. I spoke withVictor Camacho to get his opinion on the
(07:36):
infamous case. Question what was yourinitial reaction to the Nightcrawler footage? Answer?
I was pretty convinced, but Ireally wanted to talk to Jose about
the case, and I really wantedto go to the house. But when
I talked to Jose at the TVstation, he was extremely nervous and scared.
This event had only happened to himtwo days prior. He didn't want
(07:57):
me to go to the house outof what seemed like fear of the situation.
So I respected that and didn't wantto pressure him into doing anything he
didn't want to do. Question whendid you eventually get to investigate the house?
Answer? I initially met Jose anddid the Univision story in November of
two thousand and seven. Jose calledme in March of two thousand and eight
(08:18):
and invited me over to the houseto allow me to investigate further. I
met with Jose and his family andhe let me check out the property and
interview family and neighbors. Question didyou inspect the video equipment? Answer?
He let me check out the videosystem and the old camcorder he used to
film the monitor. He told mehe put up the night vision camera outside
(08:41):
because somebody was stealing bicycles in theneighborhood, and this was the system he
saw the nightcrawlers on. But thething with that CCTV system was that as
soon as he would rewind the surveillancetape, he would lose the recording.
That's why he recorded the footage withhis camquorder, and that original tape didn't
keep the footage. Question do youremember the early reactions from the general paranormal
(09:03):
audience of what was on the video? Answer? I presented the video before
anyone was using the term night cruller. My opinion back then is the same
as it is now. I mentionedthat these beings were mantis like in their
appearance. That has generally been theopinion I have given about this case in
(09:24):
my early presentations. Many people didagree with me about the mantis appearance on
this particular case, perhaps some kindof insectoid. At the very beginning of
the video, you can somewhat makeout a bright light that appears just before
the beings walk in the frame.I'm not sure if this is a floodlight
going off or perhaps something paranormal innature. Question did you see the footage
(09:46):
taken near Yosemite National Park and doyou think it relates to the Fresno case?
Answer? I think the video fromYosemite is a fake. It's honestly
totally different from what jose recorded atthe house. The Fresno beings had what
looks like a cape, and whenthey moved, the cape would move as
well. Very hard to fake. The Yosemite beings are just big legs moving.
(10:11):
Question. In all of your yearsbeing associated with the case, has
anyone ever reported a similar incident toyou with nightcrawler beings? Answer? No,
not exactly the same mantis or insectoidlike beings that Jose reported, but
I have gotten some reports that aremore in ligned with what the nightcrawlers are
classified as now long legs with atiny head. The only ever video footage
(10:35):
I have had a chance to inspectwas from Peru, but it was clearly
the branches of a tree moving dueto the wind. I did receive a
report from Mexico that was compelling, and another report from Canada that included a
drawing. These are the only otherreports of potential nightcrawlers that I have received.
Here is a report from Canada thatwas sent to Victor by a man
(10:56):
named Chris. He said, meand my friend encountered a Fresno nightcrawler in
twenty ten in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Entered my friend's backyard five
acre forest at night close to oneam in the northwest rural part of my
city, and both of us immediatelysaw something out of place down the path
below, about thirty to forty feetaway from us, in between the trees
(11:16):
that was tall, white and threedimensional. It appeared to be completely white
and soft like light, but itdid not illuminate the trees or ground around
it. There was no face orany facial feature, as we could see
no arms and it was shaped inan upside down v or u. It
was making creepy swaying movements with itswhole body two legs left to right,
(11:39):
back and forth, silently, stillstanding on the forest floor in the exact
same spot the whole time we sawit. It was so white that you
could see the shadow being cast onit while it was swaying like it was
a real animal. It did notpick up its legs or walk at all.
I can only explain it as lookinglike seven to eight foot really white,
soft shiny, separated curtains in theshape of an upside down v or
(12:01):
u with bulkiness or shape to thetop. The two long legs or arms
looked like the frontal view and ape'sforearms would look like when they're crawling on
all fours, as if the twolong legs were hunched in front. It
was moving left to right in aspecific motion, standing on the forest floor
in the same area between the trees, making absolutely no sound, and there
(12:22):
was absolutely no wind. It wasbeautiful to look at, but terrifying at
the same time. We watched itin silence as it was swaying and I
started to feel impending doom. Thesinking feeling in your chest set in,
and it felt like I was goingto die or something bad was going to
happen. I told my friends specifically, I don't like this. He agreed,
and we immediately left the forest.I recently showed First Nations where I
(12:46):
live and my friends experienced, andthe sketch that we sent. They said
it was a double headed serpent, and the research of been doing These creatures
correlate with the quetzacotal. They goby various different names from different First Nation
cultures and Pacific Northwest Canada and thereport. After the Univision coverage, the
story became a viral sensation. Soonthe case was featured on sci Fi's Fact
(13:09):
or Faked TV show, and thename Fresno Nightcrawlers took off from there.
Another video from outside of Yosemite NationalPark, roughly an hour from Fresno,
appeared online, and all of asudden, the Fresno area seemed to be
like a nightcrawler hotspot or window area. I felt that I needed to do
my due diligence on getting to thebottom of the significance of the nightcrawlers in
(13:33):
terms of their significance to Fresno.I reached out to Michael Banty, who
runs the website Weird Fresno, forhis opinion on the case and the lasting
legacy of the Walking Pants. Here'sthe interview with him. Question when did
you first encounter the Fresno Nightcrawler story? Answer? I first came across the
video in September of two thousand andeight. I just started writing for a
(13:56):
Weird Fresno and it was one ofthe very first things I wrote about.
Question what do you make of thevideo? Answer? The Fresno video I
believe is real, meaning that whateverwas filmed is not a hoax or fake.
Whatever they are, I cannot tellyou. Sadly, the quality is
so bad, as this is arecording from a projection onto a screen at
(14:18):
a conference, and that video wasa copy of the original CCTV footage,
which wasn't very high quality to beginwith. As for the Yosemite video,
I believe that one is a hoaxman for several reasons. One, the
footage is said to be recorded bya paranormal investigator, but when I went
to contact them, I noticed thisvideo was the only thing on their channel.
(14:39):
I attempted to contact them several timeswith no look, and there was
never any other activity on that channelexcept for the Yosemite footage. Also,
the movement is different than the Fresnofootage, and it feels like someone was
trying to recreate that Question do youthink the Fresno area is a window area
given that there was another sighting nearYosemite National Park roughly an hour from town.
(15:05):
Answer, despite my opinion on theYosemite footage, I do believe this
area is a thin area. Presnoitself is a bit of a liminal place,
but there's a lot of weird thingsthat have happened here over the years.
Question. In your opinion, arethe entities in the video a peak
at the other or is there amore natural explanation available? Answer? I
(15:30):
wish I knew what these were.I honestly think something slipped through and we
got a peek at something, maybeultra terrestrial. I've said it before,
and for some reason, they remindme of the fay Folk. Question why
do you think these beings have sucha lasting legacy in pop culture? How
was that impacted Forresno Answer? Ithink their cuteness is what has allowed them
(15:54):
to last so long. Do aquick atsy search and you'll see all times
of merchandise likes and plushies of thenight Crawler. But the weird thing is
most of these are made from peopleoutside of Fresno, though I've noticed recently
that more and more are being madeby locals. Question is this the strangest
story to come out of Fresno?Answer, I'd say yes. I've written
(16:18):
about a lot of things over thelast ten plus years, but this one
was one of the first I wroteabout and has lasted all that time.
People still ask me what it is, and I still have the same answer.
I don't know. I don't thinkwe will ever know. This was
a one time thing, but itslegacy is definitely lasting. End of interview.
(16:41):
Back under the Scorching Fresno's son,Raggelio finishes telling me about his experience
with the night Crawlers. But that'snot the end of the story. Actually,
the story is really just beginning.I don't know when this house was
built, and I don't know thehistory, but weird things have always happened
here ever since we moved in,Rogelio said. The next story was shared
with me completely dropped my jaw andhonestly changed my entire view of the night
(17:04):
crawlers and the potential situation surrounding thiscase. Raggelio mentions how their houses had
issues with trouble making kids. However, these kids just appear at times in
the house. Can't always see them, but he and his family can oftentimes
hear them moving throughout the house. When asked to expand upon this, Riggelio
(17:26):
tells me about a time as brotherJose could feel them in his room.
Jose said out loud for whatever wasin his room to show itself. Jose
then witnessed a child's face appear inhis closet. The face was palel white
with solid black eyes. Raggelio says, the kids never go to sleep,
they are felt in the house atvarious times throughout the day. The family
(17:48):
has witnessed a baby crawling on theirfloor, a girl entity that hides behind
furniture, almost resembling a game ofPeekaboo, constant pitter pawder, footsteps,
and a heavy feeling of being watchedin a house. Rugelio makes it known
that many of his family members cannotsleep with the lights off and they're afraid
to investigate further to make the activityworse. But what he says next is
(18:11):
really odd. They are our friendsnow, we let them know they can
stay, and just not to spookus anymore. What's being described sounds eerily
similar to the Black Eyed Kids bEK for short phenomenon, with slight variations.
Reports of b eks usually revolve arounda child or children appearing at a
(18:32):
doorstep asking for permission to be letinto the home or premises, and the
experiencer becomes overwhelmed with complete and utterfear. This situation does not involve the
classic b EK encounter, but ifyou pay attention closely, it has all
the hallmarks of a b EK case. A child with solid black eyes did
(18:52):
make an appearance, Jose and thefamily admitted to feeling absolutely terrified, and
the family eventually did give the entitiespermission to stay at the house, seemingly
the BK's goal. One aspect ofthis case that has been consistent from Rogelio
Victor Camacho and even interviews with Josebefore his passing was that Jose was terrified
(19:12):
of the nightcrawlers. It's been mentionedtime and time again that he began to
fear even leaving the house for creaturesthat the general public finds adorable. This
is a very curious reaction. Oneof the main check marks in b e
K cases is the immense sphere theexperiencer is overcome with when confronted by these
(19:33):
entities. What if the nightcrawlers werenot exactly cute walking pants cryptids, but
an unformed putty or the other carryingout an agenda more closely related to b
EKS. I know this is abit of a jump for those who may
be into a more conventional analysis ofanomalist phenomenon. However, we're discussing walking
(19:55):
pants monsters and humanoid children. Inventionalanalysis may have no grounds here, and
there's one more thing to analyze.I want to make this statement respectfully,
and I bring it up only interms of analysis of the case. There
is strong lore that giving b Ecase permission to enter a household can bring
about harm or death. Jose did, unfortunately pass away after this incident.
(20:22):
It has been noted that some visualdepictions of Azrael, the Angel of Death,
features the being with solid black eyes. Ragelio and Victor Camacho both pointed
out that the first night Crawler seenon camera had solid black eyes. The
nightcrawler's size matches the haunting reports ofchildren in the household. Perhaps these visions
(20:44):
of children were harbingers or omens insome way. Ragelio noted that after Jose's
passing, the activity did fade drastically, but not entirely. There does seem
to be grounds here for an overlappingphenomenon with perhaps more sinister intentions. By
no means my suggesting all anomalous phenomenonis negative in nature. However, it's
(21:04):
difficult to spin beek reports in apositive light. So the final question is
what exactly did show up on thecamera that November evening in two thousand and
seven, What were those beings exactly? And why are there so few reports
of anything similar? I believe itall depends on the context in which you
(21:25):
view incidents of high strangeness. Maybethese beings really are just undiscovered creatures out
for a late night stroll in Fresno. It just happened to walk by a
house with a surveillance system. Butthe context in which Jose and his family
experienced this event seems too direct andintentional to be a mere cryptozoological coincidence.
(21:47):
These anomalous events seem to have areflective nature to the experiencer. More and
more, it seems these anomalous beingswitnessed are an allegory for the message that
they're trying to impart on the experiencer, whether that's in the form of a
ghost, an alien, gray bigfoot, or even a bee k Perhaps it
is all a mask from some unknownintelligence choosing what to show us. But
(22:11):
what happens when we choose to seethe other side. I had to reach
out to my friends in the magiccommunity to shed some light on this practice.
I'm exposed to the idea of trianglesof practice from the Goetia. Goetic
triangles of art are key in thesummation of Psalmonic magic. Occultists have often
(22:32):
pontificated on the idea of triangle UFOsessentially being magic entry points, having the
ability to appear in our reality, and essentially being a gateway from another world,
realm, or plane of existence.Usually, the triangle object is seen
in the sky and then anomalous activityensues, and then it hit me,
the night crawlers are essentially walking triangles. We focus on the legs and stumpy
(22:56):
head, but look at the shapeformed in the outline of these entities,
they form a triangle. Perhaps thenight Crawlers were a peak at the other
in the form needed to manifest inour reality. A think back to when
Victor Camacho made the statement of arguablyseeing a flash before the Night Crawlers appear.
Could these beings have flashed into ourreality only to take on the form
(23:19):
of a beek later for Jose andas ghost children for the remainder of the
family. What I do know tobe true is this case is so much
stranger than I ever imagined. Iwas fortunate enough to get the full incident
from the people who experienced it andlived through the ordeal. The cam Quarder
Jose used to film the Night Crawlersfrom that November two thousand and seven night
(23:44):
is now in possession of Paranormality magazine. Possible proof of the anomalous was just
sitting in a home in Fresno, unexamined by the world. The issue is
the tape seemed to be jammed inthe Camquarder and Rogelio fears removing it may
damage it forever. Skeptics would saythis is once again a convenient issue to
stop any real analysis of the originalfootage. However, there is nothing new
(24:07):
in the grand scheme of the paranormal. George P. Hansen's The Trickster and
the Paranormal, the idea of thephenomenon negating itself is discussed. Seemingly,
all empirical paranormal evidence seems to alwaysend up vanishing or destroyed somehow. Think,
for example, the original Patterson GimlinBigfoot film which is missing, the
(24:30):
Sandra Mancy negative photo of Champ theLake Monster which was thrown away, and
now the original Nightcrawler footage trapped ina camcorder and possibly damaged. What I
do feel is truth is that Hoseand his family did not fake this incident.
One of the most popular theories facingthe Nightcrawlers is that the video is
an elaborate hoax, Yet explaining howit was accomplished seems to lack any concrete
(24:53):
answer back a famous TV show witha decent budget couldn't recreate the footage.
Getting the opportunity to talk to thefamily in person opened my eyes to just
how frightened they were and how littlethey wanted to do with anything potentially paranormal.
With Rogelio's statement of the fear ofa drive by the likelihood of a
(25:14):
prank being performed in this neighborhood aftermidnight also seems unlikely and potentially dangerous to
the prankster. I think something trulyanomalous walked across this lawn in Fresno,
California. The goal and objective ofthe beings may have potentially been sinister.
The full anecdotal account has now beentold, and the empirical evidence sits dormant,

nature is emerging, which encompasses bothgalaxies and neurons, gravitation and life,
(27:11):
molecules and emotions. As a culbinationof centuries of studying nature, mankind has
been approaching the thorniest subject of allourselves, as cited in Atwater. Only
recently have we begun to identify andappreciate that the human body is more alive
in an invisible dimension than we havehistorically thought. In previous articles discussing stone
(27:36):
tape and water tape theories, wediscussed some of the weird sciences of modern
times and their paranormal implications, includingthe notion that we may be but a
soul inhabiting a human form, nota human form containing a soul. We
know that a biofield of electromagnetic energyvibrates both inside us on a molecular level
(28:00):
and simultaneously outside of us in ateroidal harmonic wave that directly impacts and corresponds
to the immediate environment. We discussedthat hauntings, disembodied voices, footsteps,
apparitions may just be recordings of previousoccurrences embedded in the very environment in which
death or intense emotional projection occurred. These are residual hauntings, unaware of the
(28:26):
living, not unlike a fossil thatremains buried in the fabric of the environment
and only exposed when the moment isright. But what happens to the rest
of us after our biological matter disintegrates, our energetic lighte form sucked into the
environment. What happens to our consciousness, our personality, our selves. Let's
(28:48):
explore the biophotonic properties of our DNA, the historical influences of technology on our
understanding of soul, and physiological andpsychosomatic responses to experiencing a paranormal encounter.
Let's delve into a kind of spiritualalchemy defined by Merriam Webster as a change
of some essential element into a superiorform. Rather than use new science to
(29:14):
extract precious metals, we use newscience to study the relationship between our consciousness
and matter. Also known as thescience of the soul. For our purposes
here, we'll use the word souland consciousness interchangeably. Diana F. Holsuka,
professor of Religious Studies at the Universityof North Carolina Wilmington, discusses the
(29:37):
biophotonic and phononic particles inherent in ourDNA in her twenty nineteen book American Cosmic
UFOs, Religion and Technology. We'llplace a link to that in the show
notes. The natural frequency of ourDNA is similar to a biological internet,
whose data is stored within light, photons and functions like fiber optic wiring.
(30:00):
When stretched out and uncoiled in laboratorysettings, a single strand of DNA can
be up to six feet long andas its own natural frequency around one hundred
and fifty megahertz. Further research bydoctor Sosumnoono of the Beckmann Research Institute in
California and French anthropologist Jeremy Narby alsoconcluded that DNA emits and receives both light
(30:22):
waves and sound waves. DNA moleculesof different bodily areas had their own musical
melody, wrote doctor PMH. Atwaterin her groundbreaking research on near death experiences.
She continued, Our bodies are madeof light and sound at the most
primal level, and so are theworlds of spirit and the structures of matter.
Life and death are coded in thelanguage of light and sound. DNA
(30:48):
just got a whole lot more interestingand mysterious. It is a coiled,
vibrating antenna with its own electric generatorthat communicates directly with the body, the
environment, and the universe. Itis its own technology. It has everything
it needs to participate in its owncreation and evolution. Sounds a lot like
something a consciousness would be capable of, doesn't it. Our historic views on
(31:14):
how the body and soul operate wereand still are, modeled after the technology
available to us at the time.Ancient Roman physicians suggested our souls flowed through
our bodies like the aqueducts or bathhouseheating systems common during that time. Philosopher
Rene de de Car envisioned the soulflowing through our nervous system via a series
of strings and valves, not unlikethe pipe organ, a popular musical instrument
(31:38):
during the sixteenth century. Fast forwardto the late twentieth century, when film
director Nigel Neil coined the phrase stonetape theory in nineteen seventy two to describe
how spirit energies are recorded into theenvironment. In today's world, we use
digital technology so as a metaphor forour consciousness, like I don't have the
(32:00):
bandwidth to take on another project rightnow. Nowadays, we have the option
of uploading data to cloud based storage, meaning our digital data exists on servers
through an off site, third partylocation. Perhaps our brains act like a
TV antenna or wireless router, whichreceives electromagnetic signals and transfers them into image
(32:22):
and sound. Our brain can onlypick up one signal, one channel at
a time, said best by sciencejournalist Mary Roach in her New York Times
best selling book Spook Science Tackles theAfterlife, which I'll also link to in
the show notes, we can't watchHBO if we're already watching Bravo, but
(32:42):
that doesn't mean HBO's broadcast ceases toexist. If our mental model of consciousness
continues to match the technology of thetime. Is it too far out to
imagine that our consciousness may exist somewhereoutside of our own personal hard drive at
a third party location, and thatour thoughts and ideas are merely downloads.
(33:05):
In her book, Mary Roach said, I've often wondered whether the inventors of
computers created them in their own imageof how their minds worked, or if
they related the machine to the mindafter the machines were created. But in
computer programmer Benny Pinkus, as citedby Mary Roach in twenty eleven, indeed
it begs speculation that the very coreof our consciousness is like a computer operating
(33:27):
system, and the energy within theenvironment is a system of nothing more than
data waiting to be downloaded into acorrect interpretation. Furthermore, if that biological
internet within our very own DNA isoperated by an outside consciousness, it implies
that consciousness does not exclusively belong tous, if anything, we belong to
(33:50):
and participate in it, writes researcherPatrick Harper in Daimonic Reality, A field
Guide to the Underworld, another bookI'll place in the show, notes,
so to recap, the concept ofour consciousness existing outside the body is rather
new and corresponds with our current lexiconof a digital age. Like uploading data
to cloud based storage, we employthe technology of the time to further explain
(34:15):
not only the fabric of our outsidereality, but a shared consciousness amongst ourselves,
and that active metacognition can help uscollectively theorize that which is paranormal in
nature, that which frightens and intriguesus, that which we can't explain.
Consider the case of medical engineering designerVic Tandy. In the mid nineteen nineties,
(34:38):
Tandy started experiencing something on settling spookyparanormal activity. According to him,
in his studio laboratory, he sendsedan ongoing level of discomfort, a distinct
chill while working in his lab,and he even witnessed a silent, grayish
figure slipped by his periphery. Ina separate instance, he noticed a foil
(35:00):
blade in the lab vibrating back andforth as it was receiving energy from an
unknown source. Being the scientists thathe was, he calculated that the vibrating
blade had been varying in intensity ata rate equal to the resonant frequency of
the blade. In other words,an invisible sound wave was causing the movement.
(35:22):
He said, I was sharing thelab with a low frequency standing wave.
He exclaimed in his article for theJournal for the Society of Psychical Research.
This wave, it manifested at theprecise frequency to be completely reflected back
by the structure of the lab.Tandy investigated the phenomenon further, finding the
same presence of infrasound, sometimes upto two hundred times higher frequencies, and
(35:45):
several reportedly haunted locations across Germany andEngland. The effects of infrastsound on the
human body have also been scientifically studied. In controlled conditions. Low frequency vibrations
between twelve and twenty seven hertz havebeen shown to cause short lived visual disturbances,
perspiration, even heart palpitations. Frequenciescloser to eighteen hertz could even vibrate
(36:09):
the eyeball, causing vision to besmeared or create sensory phenomena suggestive of a
ghost in one's periphery. We've allseen an opera singer Shattered Glass, and
it's not considered paranormal. The singeris literally manipulating energy on a quantum level
to create a very real outcome.Had Vic Tandy not been a scientist,
(36:31):
would he have continued to describe theinitial presence of the waveform and its related
visual disturbances as a ghost. Perhapswe should take note, as paranormal investigators
that the majority of hauntings may beresidual in nature, and rather than projecting
a personality onto a phenomenon, thatis, calling it a demon or a
(36:52):
trapped spirit, we should assume itsoriginal consciousness exists elsewhere and is undeterred by
the earth drama that was human nature. What if we removed philosophy, psychology,
and theology from the phenomenon and justappreciated the phenomenon for what it is,
like Vic Tandy did with the mysteriouswaveform that manifested in his studio.
(37:16):
Humans are in essence made up ofthe same stuff as the paranormal phenomenon many
of us have encountered. Some ofus are sensitive enough to pick up on
the electromagnetic energies and photons in theenvironment. While certain environments seem to discharge
that pent up energy at random, does that power lie within our dna?
(37:37):
Indeed, the thorny subject of studyingourselves in the presence of the phenomenon is
a daunting and mysterious task. Butas we've seen such knowledge of ourselves,
with a little spiritual alchemy added in, we'll help us find the answer to
the age old question of what happenswhen we die? But are we ready
