La memoria storica è il modo in cui un gruppo o una società ricorda il proprio passato. È una costruzione collettiva, che si nutre di racconti familiari, celebrazioni, monumenti, film, ma anche di silenzi, tabù, traumi. A differenza della storia, che si basa su fonti e metodo critico, la memoria è selettiva: sceglie cosa ricordare e cosa dimenticare. È spesso emotiva, legata all’identità di chi la coltiva, e può diventare anche strumento di potere.
