(00:06):
And just for that we are onepisode twelve. All right boy, justin
La Boy, then again using hiscreative genius, then coined another phrase,
I'm big. And now it's eitheri'mbing your back summer or we're gonna continue
to big our backs. Hey,look, that's your business. But for
(00:29):
those who may be struggling with that, I got a great episode for because
it's two principles. Typically there's onlyone call to action per episode. This
one got too, so both ofthem. One of them centers around increasing
your protein, which features my boyEli, who is the founder of Creative
Golden Cricket, which is that proteinpowder made from crickets. You gotta listen
(00:51):
to his rationale on it and hisprotein bars and all that stuff he creates
because it's it's interesting and he talksabout crickets and how know, who really
cares because a cricket? I mean, it's kind of dry office since a
humor, but hey, you gottalisten to it. Also, we talk
about the principle of fasting, howthat's important too and in different ways.
Too fast because it's more than oneway too fast, and whether you live
(01:15):
a lifestyle of fasting as far asevery day or it's just periodically. I
think it's important and imperiotive that weall do it, and not even just
for weight law self trying to unbigour backs, but just because it's very
it helps you in other areas aswell. So listen to my rationale on
that. This one is funny becausehe actually is a stand up comic and
a rapper. I don't know whereI'll find these people, but I love
(01:38):
it. Tune in. We gottado something with this music. We gotta
(02:10):
do something, don't get it twist. It's a lot of good people with
a lot of good messages, butsome of these songs, it's just getting
outrageous. And at this point Idon't even know what to do that's ever
existed. It's a group of likeminded individuals that have the same mindset.
So I'm pretty lucky to have whata lot of people don't have, which
is a supportive community, and thatgives me the confidence to do a lot
(02:35):
of crazy shit like buck bars andall right, y'all, what's going on?
Is your boy? Easy bank over? What's up y'all? So today
it's a little different, all rightnow? Yeah, I used to hear
ads run through my stuff for otherpeople. All right, this is the
hibly the first real time to addis for me alright. So PSA Produce
Board Advance Stations has expanded far beyondjust the podcast. It is now a
(02:55):
writing service, all right, atthat a ghost writing service. So we
do it oonymously and take care ofyour needs. Are right, homework,
consistent product and profile, disc descriptions, grant writing, resumes, cover letters,
templates, books, ghostwriter a booktoo, anything you can think of
articles, all of good stuff.PSA the Ghost Write Solution can do it.
(03:16):

the services that with all their descriptions. Okay, because I know I'm missong.
And also you can reach out tome at the Prodigy Perspective at gmail
dot com and we can take careof all of that for you too.
Peace, I'm back and accept PSA. I'm just sick to take offs and
(03:49):
like that, We're back for anotherone, another high fire episode. Got
the beer cut low. I've beenliking to cut low lately. Let's see
how long I gotta keep it likethis. I'm gonna grow it back out.
I think I'm gonna keep it lowlike this to my birthday and which
is in a few weeks. Ifyou want to give me something cash ap
PSA the brand, or you couldsell me the Prodigy perspective at gmail dot
(04:14):
com. Also that's at the beginningof the episode. You know, in
the ads if we're reaching out forlike work and stuff, they use that
email too. You can sell methere. Um. But yeah, everything's
good, everything's copasthetic. On today, it's a beautiful day. Well it's
beautiful. It's just extremely hot,and it is summertime. It is summer
is here. Okay, nobody toldyou want here to tell you summer is
(04:38):
here and it ain't playing no gamesnow. We see a lot on justin
the Boy's page and many other ofthese like Instagram mean pages that's talking about
you know, everybody's getting big oralready big. And you know they made
one of how you as you sayhow the kids say big their backs right,
(05:01):
because it's like, maybe it's toolate, I'm big in my back.
Even if you missed the summer rush, you still got the rest of
the year. So don't think,oh I missed the summer. I try
to getting next something. No,no, no, you can start today,
all right, so let's get intotoday's mean. Today's mean reads a
(05:21):
lot of protein and a whole lotof fasts that maybe the quick cure to
unbig your back for summer. Becausewe just sent the middle of the something
we just in the heat Smack Dad, heated to summer, you still got
some time. Inspiration for this week'sepisode comes from a few different things.
So it comes from our guests andhis brain, which we're gonna get into
that today, and it also comesfrom obviously I kind of mentioned already these
(05:45):
justin the Boy pages and these othermean pages and the new term unbig your
back, and it's just crazy tome, Like the meme I read it
said eat water, eat eat water, and unbig, unbig your back.
It's like, we got thirty daysleft till summertime, so I don't want
you going through any extreme measures. And so this episode kind of serves as
(06:09):
the how you say, the healthymedium for that, and it may not
be when you want it, butyou know you'll get it. And typically
I go for one decision or tryto aim towards making one decision, but
in this episode, you actually willget two decisions, all right, So
let's get into that as we goalong. So before we get into that,
(06:30):
let's move into happy hour now.I just gotta say something before we
get into too much in today's episode, Like when I look back at the
history of people, we see howmusic has taken over, right. We
see that with you know, songsthat have uplifted us and songs that are
(06:53):
just catchy. We see people likeSaint Louis finding sexy rid with lyrics like
I'm out of town, thugging rimarounds, my p word pink, and
her booty hole brown. We alsohave to realize that she wasn't the first
person to do things like that. When I look back at like and me
(07:14):
being twenty nine now, and Ireminisce on like sixth grade, and I
remember in gym class girls was wrappingTrina's look back at a word for word.
So for those say, if youlisten, you probably know that that
this song is and you probably knowthe lyrics. But in case you don't,
(07:35):
I'm about to read them to you, and you tell me how this
sound. Let's read I got anass so big like the sun, hope
you got a mouth for up.I want to run, slap it in
my face and shove it down mythroat. Something in your blunt. I
(07:58):
can make this smoke. I liketo know how to fuc k. I
know how to ride. I canspend around with it still inside. And
now your mouth is while you're lookingscared. I'm a man eater head hunter.
I'm prepared now. When that songwas being sung word for word,
these girls was eleven and twelve yearsold, and it's only getting worse.
(08:20):
And when that was done, thatwas oh six, and now this is
twenty twenty three, and we justthe lyrics I just read before. We
got to do something with this music. We gotta do something, don't get
it twist. It's a lot ofgood people with a lot of good messages,
but some of these songs, it'sjust getting outrageous. And at this
point, I don't even know whatto do. It's wild that that's really
(08:43):
you know, and then she ain'tthe worst one, but it's just wild
that this is what's really been happening. And it goes to show you how
much of an influenced music has whenwe look at you know, the rappers,
and we look at and not justthe rappers, because it's it's a
lot of people too, and justmedia in general, and they paint these
images of this horror lifestyle or thisthug lifestyle. I think of John Morant
(09:05):
and the whole gun situation. Whatis up with this generation wanting to play
with guns? I don't get it. I've never met so many people who
want to be gangsters and and andthugs so bad? What is in the
water where they what's in the waters? What's on the TV? It's what's
in this music. I keep tellingy'all something behind that music is very,
(09:28):
very very influential. These videos arevery influential. So if for you to
get caught with a gun and someof y'all I knew how y'all grew up,
that's not you, And that's okay. You are not less of a
man because you're not out here shootingpeople or taking pictures with guns, you
know, especially in his case whenyou're a whole athlete. Just something to
(09:52):
keep in mind as we get alongfor the day. And it's just something
I had to get off my chestbecause I'm tired of seeing that. And
somebody got to sound the alarm,so it'll be me. You may take
heat too. You may agree, you may think I'm doing too much.
They think I'm preaching. I don'tknow, but we gotta do better.
(10:13):
Okay, So before I get toodeep into today's episode, and I have
to give y'all these strategies on howto unbig your back I have. I'm
big my back somewhat and it's goingdown some more weekly, so that's good
news. So I have a guesttoday, so let me go ahead and
introduce them. What is going on? Hey, how's it going? Man?
(10:35):
I was a very interesting intro, some interesting topics. I'll tell you
I have to give. I justhave to speak on it because I'm tired
of seeing it and it's just it'sonly gonna get worse. And it's funny
that we're talking about music because Ididn't play this, y'all promise I didn't.
And he's in the studio. Ain'tthat crazy? But for my visual
(10:58):
people, can you tell the peopleyour name, where are you from and
where do you live? Now?My name is Eli Halper and I live
in Austin, Texas, and I'min the music studio at my house.
Okay, so in the music studiosobviously, obviously he's in the music.
So tell us before we get intothat, tell us more about what you
(11:22):
do currently as far as like youroccupation. My main thing is the CEO
and founder of Golden Cricket, whichmakes protein bars and protein powders out of
actual crickets. Because crickets are sixtyfive percent protein by weight, they contain
all nine essential amino acids. Theyuse two thousand times less water to produce
than weight protein, and it's okayto kill them because they're just crickets.
(11:46):
See, it's gonna be a goodepisode. I like dry office as a
humor. Okay, So now nextquestion. So with the studio. You're
in the studio. Now we knowyou have the crickets, we know you
have that soul. Are you amusician of some kind? Are you a
producer? Are you both tell usthat? Dude, I'm a lot of
things. I started planning for financialsuccess at a young age, so I've
(12:11):
had a lot of time to delveinto my passions. So I'm amongst a
lot of things. I guess I'mI'm a martial artist. I played drums,
guitar, some bass. I'm arapper, I'm a producer, stand
up comedian. I do a lotof things. I just I just try
(12:35):
to get the most out of lifeas I can, and we love to
see that. We love to seethat because I cannot stand how society tries
to make it like they're starting toexpand it now but pushing it to where
we can do more than one thing. And so you know what I'm saying,
that you do so many different things. And I'm actually jealous of people
(12:56):
that can play instruments because I usedto be in piano and I wish I
would have stayed because that's a niceskill to have, but obviously I didn't
keep doing it. So before weget to my other questions, I just
have to ask. You made thestatement earlier you said some of my topics
were interesting, and you also justsaid that you are a rap You are
a rapper. So with hearing thelyrics that I read and hearing how in
(13:22):
seeing and just in general you cansee it on me, you see the
meeting, and see it on Instagram, social media, all kinds, seeing
how influential music can be to people. What is the goal of the type
of music you create. The goalof my rap music is to make people
laugh. It's well, it's reallyto make me laugh, and if other
people laugh at it too, thenthat's cool, but I really just make
(13:43):
it so I can bump around inmy car because I got a great taste.
I got a great ear for music, and that's indisputable. If you
listen to my beats, they're fireass beats. But my raps are pretty
ridiculous. So I'm not gonna sayI'm a good rapper or anything, but
I have a lot of fun doingit. So with that with the ear
for music, because typically people whoare can play a lot of different instruments,
(14:07):
and do you listen to different typesof music as well? Yeah,
So okay, So that's that's right. They're solidified. You got a good
ear for me, so you havegood ear for music. What is your
take on these music on music todaywith lyrics like I read and and just
and that just stay. What didyour take on like stuff like that?
Well, unfortunately it goes pretty deep. Um. I mean, it reminds
(14:35):
me of how NWA was like controlledopposition and they were like we need more,
we need more raps about guns anddrugs and violence because and then it
goes back to like racism. Andby racism, I don't mean like people
making jokes to each other, butI mean like government institutional racism where they're
like, we want to put blackpeople and Mexicans in prison and then fit
(15:00):
off the private prison industry. Sothere's like a correlation between the music industry
and the prison industrial complex, andthat's been established for like decades for sure,
for sure, absolutely, And it'sjust it's unfortunate that I'm gonna say
(15:20):
this and then we're gonna move on. But it's unfortunately that people are following
for the same Like it's like historyrepeats itself and you hate to be cheesy,
but it's the truth. It's likeif people who don't know history,
they're doomed to repeat it. Soall right, So now you've been self
employed since you were twelve? Canyou share some of your early entrepreneur endeavors
and how they shaped your approach tocreate a golden cricket. I used to
(15:43):
sell candy out of my locker.I did all the lemonade stands stuff.
But I think the biggest thing isI started selling on eBay when I was
like twelve. As soon as Ifound out eBay existed, I was like,
WHOA, people are making money justselling stuff. So I just started
selling stuff around my house. Didyou get in trouble for selling stuff around
(16:06):
your house. Um, I gotin trouble for certain things linked to that,
Like I don't remember exactly, butI definitely I think I sold something
that belonged to my dad and hewas like, where did this go?
Which is funny because a lot ofkids, like you, hear a lot
of kids like they'll sell their parentsand their families stuff for like drug money,
(16:29):
and they had a problem or something. I was just trying to run
a business. I didn't have anyaddictions or expenditures. I was twelve,
but with that I did. Iwould get to school, to a middle
school, and it was we hada drug dealer at the school. But
um, with that, It's funnybecause when you say I just knew,
(16:51):
I just knew. When you sayit, I used to sell stuff around
my house, I'm like, whatof your family did you say? I
just knew it? That's why Iwanted you to say it. But I'm
like, you bring it out becauseI know you sold something that you wasn't
supposed to, But we love itbecause that's a good part of your story.
You know what I'm saying. Whenyou get on and big and rich
of factness, and you tell everybodyyour story like that you will laugh at
(17:11):
it. Then you didn't laugh atit when you would twill, I mean
you probably laugh. They didn't.But it's like I made money, and
like you was good with money. So were you always good with money or
were you just always like you justalways had like a hustle mentality. I
was always good with money. Ialways had a hustle mentality. I would
I would sometimes if my parents gaveme money for food, I just wouldn't
(17:34):
eat and I would just save themoney. Because at a young age,
I realized that this whole system islike a scam and humanity is like basically
a pyramid scheme, and if Idon't have my own money, that I'm
gonna have to be a slave tosomeone else forever, whether it's whether it's
(17:56):
listening to my parents or like workingfor a boss or working for a job
or something. Then I really like, don't. I don't like being told
what to do. I like doingwhatever I want. And I realized I
could do that if I just hadmoney. So that was always like my
main goal is like all I caredabout was making money, and that's not
how I feel anymore. I thinklife should be lived in phases, and
(18:18):
I went through that phase where allI cared about was money, and then
once I had enough money, nowI care about my passions and health.
And I mean that is to saythat I did sacrifice my health and passions
to focus on money. And Ithink any intelligent person would say you should
(18:42):
never sacrifice your health, but alsosometimes you might have to just in the
short term. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's it. Really, it's
up to you in your personal life. If you're like, because sleep is
the most important thing, yeah,if And there's been times where I've only
slept like three or four hours, and realistically I should just go back to
(19:06):
sleep and get more asleep, butI'm I'm gonna go out and get stuff
done sometimes. But lately I've I'veswitched that around to where if I wake
up and it's like eight am andI only sup three or four hours,
I'll be like, I don't carewhat's going on today, I'm gonna go
back to sleeping. Because I traina lot. I do a lot of
martial arts and heavy lifting and stuff. So if I'm not sleeping, my
(19:26):
body's gonna break itself down. Absolutely, and I love that because again,
you kind of go against the grainof society, because the society will preach,
you know, sleep when you're deadand all this stuff. But you
you'll die a lot sooner if youdon't get to sleep you're supposed to.
And I think it's funny because I'mthe type of person where I feel like
(19:48):
life, like you said, it'sreally like a balance, and you have
to have the lows and the highs, and you have to have the ebbs
and the flows, and you haveto have sleep. But then it is
times where you about, Okay, you know, maybe this these days out
the we I'm gonna wake up atfive o'clock, three o'clock or whatever.
And then some days, no,I'm an sleep to nine. You just
have to have that balance, andespecially if you do have goals, because
(20:10):
in the long term, especially bodygoals, if you try to lose weight,
maintain weight, gain weight, whatever, you have to get sleep,
and if not, it's just notgonna be effective. And then even then
you're thinking it's not gonna be thebest, and you think it is,
but you're not. Your brain isnot in the highest function when you don't
get as much sleep and as muchrest as you need, and we had
an episode about that last season. Now, I think something really important for
(20:33):
that too is not setting an alarmclock, but setting it an alarm for
when you should go to sleep, setting a bedtime to go to sleep the
same time, make sure you're inbed by a certain time, and then
you'll your body will take its tollto where you don't need an alarm clock
in the morning. But I thinkthat's way more important to get to bed
early than it is to wake upearly. Absolutely, because it's funny because
(20:55):
we had a sleep expert last seasonand that's exactly what she said. So
good. I'd like to see stufffrom last season bleeding too this one.
So we talked about rest, Wetalked about you savings, you know,
selling your families precious precious diamonds oneBay when you were twelve. So now
you're good at raising money, you'regood at selling. You're raising impressive one
(21:17):
hundred and fifty k for your businessGold and Cricket in the first seven months.
Came talk us through the process ofsecuring their funding and any tips you
might have for any other entrepreneurs.Well, really, I wasn't out looking
for funding. I was just outpromoting my company, telling everyone about it
being myself doing my thing, whichincludes, you know, so I do
(21:40):
martial arts couple hours a day andI'm out doing stand up comedy. I'm
I know a lot of people outhere, a lot of people see what
I'm doing. I get a lotof positive affirmations from those of my community
commending my success and upward trajectories, and a lot of people say they enjoy
watching me do my thing. SoI think that has a lot to do
(22:03):
with it, because I basically metsomeone who offered me the money, and
I turned it down at first becauseI was like, I don't even know
what I'd do with one hundred grand, And so I got one hundred grand
from an investor and then fifty grandfrom a loan, and the one hundred
grand from the investor. I waslike, I appreciate it, but like,
(22:25):
let me make a plan, andso I created a new product,
which is the Hordes shot up proteinpowder, which had an increase of like
fifteen percent margins, then the proteinbars that I've been doing, and basically
built out a whole business plan aroundwhat I was going to do with that
money, and then presented it tohim, and I was like, all
right, I'll take your money now. With that though, you said,
(22:49):
like how it happened was kind oflike a blessing in a sense, and
it also shows that. And hetold me if I'm wrong, like when
you're out doing what you're supposed tobe doing, you were doing what you're
supposed to be doing, what youfelt was right, what you felt called
to do and led to do,and it ultimately tells people that your time
will come. But you have toput the work out there, because that
(23:11):
was nothing that you could have didon your own. Like you even said
that you like, no, youtold them no at first because you're like,
I don't know what I'm gonna dowith that. So it's good to
see that, and it's good moreaffirmations people to see. You have to
put yourself out there, and somany people are scared to do that out
of fear that if it may notwork, or it may fail, or
that it'll you know, they'll lookstupid. But even if you do look
(23:37):
stupid, you rather look stupid now. You rather look stupid now then look
stupid later. Because a lot oftimes people don't they just let they let
people get in their heads and tellthem what wouldn't work, and then they
tell them what they shouldn't do.So even with that, and that's another
good question. In the process ofyou coming up with this, you know,
go to cricket. Nobody will everthink to do crickets. I know
(24:00):
I would never think of that.I don't know if I would hear somebody
thinking doing it. And I wantto be like, but in my logic
also is I don't know what Godtold you. So when even with that,
do you did you have anybody inyour life? As she was getting
this business together that was kind oflike, what are you doing? It's
hard to remember the formative. Theformative like a couple of weeks of it
(24:23):
when it when it hit me,um, I mean, I surround myself
with a lot of very supportive andpositive individuals. So if someone has negativity
to bring my way and say thatreally anything I'm doing is stupid or wrong
or bad, like I just they'recut off. I don't. I don't
(24:44):
need that shit in my life becausebecause like in reality, like everything is
an opinion or a perspective. Thereis no like this is right, this
is wrong. So I just operateout of believing that I'm doing the right
thing. I do what I feelis right, and that attracts other people
who think the same way and alsothink that I'm right, and then we're
(25:07):
just all right together. And that'sthe most powerful thing that's ever existed,
is a group of like minded individualsthat have the same mindset. So I'm
pretty lucky to have what a lotof people don't have, which is a
supportive community, and that gives methe confidence to do a lot of crazy
shit like bug bars and dropping likethree rap albums. I only have the
(25:33):
confidence to do that because I gotfriends who are talented musicians who are like,
yeah, it's just dope. IfI didn't have that, I mean
I didn't have that for years.I didn't have that for there's times where,
like before I moved to Austin, lived in LA and stuff, didn't
have any friends because just the howthe city's built out and stuff, it's
(25:56):
hard to have Like, no,he has like friend groups out there.
You got like one friend ere onefrom there, And I wasn't doing too
much. I was doing some stuff, but I was now I'm like all
over the place, I'm just doingeverything right, dude. We love to
see that. I like to seethat, and and again it's good.
Another message, another gym about youbeing at that phase, because I'm at
(26:21):
that phase in my life right now, finding like minded individuals and just kind
of seeing like a lot of peoplethat I've been around for years, I
always say they may not have tobe gone permanently, but for a season,
I have to get away from thembecause we're not on the same page.
We're not a line, and Ican't be around people who are always
asking or saying comments like oh youyou should go back to talking to that
(26:42):
girl, or you and her shouldget you should get back telling her,
and when you're gonna get calf kids, when Donna get married. It's like,
why don't you never ask about mywriting service? Why don't you ever
ask about my podcast? Like whyyou only It's like, it's only has
to be like this, and don'tget it twisted. Those things will come.
But if you see me all inthis, I can't date nobody that
ain't all that you know, allin my stuff with me, and I'm
(27:06):
all into there, so you know, And even with that, sometimes people
date the wrong people because they can'tbe by themselves and they dated people who
don't believe in a vision of y'allnever talk about your goals because y'all so
in love. And then it's like, what we're doing. We're just dating,
but we're not advancing, and noneof our businesses. Now your business
on hold, your goals are onhold. Then you get out the relationship
(27:29):
and realize you spent three years puttingyour to yourself and your stuff on hold,
trying to live up to society.Yeah, and no matter how your
mindset is around negative opinions around you, you cannot change the fact that it
resonates in your brain. Literally,if people are saying shit to you,
(27:52):
you have to hear it. Youcan't close your ear holes. It will
affect you some way or another, regardless of how strong you are. I
mean, ideally, the goal isto be resilient enough where you can be
like fuck that shit and then snapback to normal. But even that is
like, that's a waste of energy. I don't even want to say fuck
that shit. I just I don't. I don't want to hear it being
(28:14):
going. I've tried to explain itto somebody before and they act like the
only the only hate I get inmy life is from random people on the
Internet, like Internet strangers, andit's like, okay, well I could
I could just not read the comments, but like, you gotta, you
gotta, you gotta risk that andwhen you're putting yourself out there, and
that's fine. Honestly, that's agood thing. I started getting a bunch
of people talking shit on my reelslately, and I was like, oh,
(28:37):
I'm getting somewhere, Like I'm finallygetting some haters. I'm so used
to people supporting me, and it'slike, yo, who am I supposed
to prove wrong at this point, but now it's like, oh, they're
coming in and I'm gonna prove youall wrong. It's like it's fun for
me. See I get mine onYouTube, and um YouTube is a dangerous
place. They'll come out of nowheretalking about this is stupid. That hasn't
(29:00):
makes sense. You're dumb. I'mlike, okay. I was like like,
and then if you really like beeither you don't respond or if you
do respond, say something nice likethank you, like they said the worst
things to you. Thanks. Yeah. Yeah. What I've started doing is
I try to if they're talking shitto me, I'll like agree with them.
Or or make a joke back, and then they'll follow me. After
(29:22):
that they'll be like, oh,he's actually cool exactly. Being able to
like flip it on your haters andthen make them a fan is I wouldn't
say like a fan really, butlike a follower subscriber. Like it's cool.
It's a good, good skill tohave and good it's something to think
about if you're in that space. We're not even thirty minutes in and we
(29:45):
already got a bunch of gems. All right, Now, I gotta action.
I'm gonna ask you three words. There are no right or wrong answers,
and I want you to tell mefour word. Excuse me the first
thing that comes to your mind. You're ready, all right? Discipline,
doing shit you have to do,regardless of how you feel. When you
(30:07):
hear the word unbig, I hadto look that up when when you said
that at first, I don't know, man, popcorn, When you hear
the worst summer hot, when youhear the word fast, I should be
(30:37):
going more in depth here. Fast. You know a lot of people say
life is fast, and they saylife is short. I don't agree.
I think life is long and lifeis it takes as long as it's supposed
to. Like, when I lookback and I'm like, have I really
lived thirty years, I'm like, yeah, totally. This feels like I've
(31:00):
been alive for thirty years, butactually it feels like fifty. I feel
like I should be fifty years old. I've done a lot of shit.
That's good. I mean, itmeans you're living, all right. So
now, the definition of discipline fromdictionary dot com the ability to adhere to
a set of rules, principles,or routines in order to achieve desired goals
or outcomes. It involves self control, consistency, and determination to stick to
(31:23):
a specific course of actions even whenfaced with obstacles, distractions, or temptations.
Unbig, I made that definition upto not make big and then summer.
The warmer a season of the yearin the Northern hemisphere from June to
August and in the Southern Hemisphere fromdecmit of February and then to fast generally
(31:45):
is the act of staining from foodor drink force spirits specific period of time,
often for religious, spiritual, orhealth reasons. All right, Okay,
good stuff, all right, Sonow let's move into the next segment
and that is what does this haveto do with mental health? And for
those that don't know, this isa segment of my haters that used to
(32:06):
be like, what is it haveto do with mental health? Created a
whole segment about it, all right. So now entrepreneurship, music, comedy,
and martial arts are all avenues thatcan have significant impacts on your mental
health. So how can these diverseelements of your life influence How have they
influenced your overall mental well being? And what strutties have you developed to maintain
(32:30):
them. Martial arts has been fundamentalin maintaining my mental health. I used
to lift weights and that just reallydidn't cut it. Just waking up every
day and fighting people is it's intense, and it's it's it's scary, it's
(32:55):
exhilarating. It requires intel focus andcommitment to all aspects of your being.
Hydration, diet, sleep, Itgets especially as a man. I think
every man has like a well,I mean, we have testosterone. So
(33:16):
we have this this fire in usthat wants to conquer and kill, and
we live in a society so wecan't do that because that's not good.
But if we're simulating murder in apadded room, which is what martial arts
(33:37):
is. Essentially. It gets allthose demons out and I just feel so
peaceful. Every day after I train, I just I just feel fine.
Like every morning I wake up.I don't think a lot of people knows
about me, but well, Iguess nobody knows anything about me because your
listeners have no idea who am.But I I I'm always doing shit like
(34:00):
I'm always I'm always busy, I'malways making things happen. I'm always chasing
my goals and stuff. But thething is, every morning I wake up
and I'm like, fuck this,I don't want to do this, but
I get out anyways, and it'snot until I leave the gym that I'm
like, all right, here wego today. So if I didn't have
(34:22):
that, well, there's been timeswhere I've been injured and stuff and I
wasn't able to train and it's beendifficult. It's I'm just I'm just aunty
and uptight. And but once Iget that those calories burning and that strength
output, I just everything falls intoplace and I can It gets me into
(34:45):
the mindset that I need to bein to make the rest of the day
happen. So when I wake up, I'm not even worried about what I
have to do that day unless Igot like a like I didn't train today
because we had this podcast, butand I got home at like three am.
I need to sleep. But whenI wake up, I'm just like,
(35:07):
all right, let's let's go train. And then after I train,
I'm like, all right, now, now what do we got to do
today? So and I used toI'm completely sober now. I used to
do a lot of drugs. Iwouldn't say I had like a like an
addiction where I was losing my mindand people were worried about me and stuff,
(35:30):
But it was more of an escapistmindset I was. I was I
was addicted to running from myself, and in focusing on my martial arts and
creative endeavors, it gives me theopportunity to really create who I want to
(35:55):
be in a manner where I don'twant to running from myself. Okay,
maybe I'm looking at it kind oflike you went from running from yourself to
now fighting the bad parts of yourselfor fighting off things, whether it's any
(36:17):
you know, escapism, or anymental health issues or any procrastination, any
laziness, any anything that's not havingyou aligned to where you're supposed to be.
Anything that's not that doesn't align withyour discipline, You're like fighting that
off on a regular basis physically andthen even mentally. You know what I'm
(36:39):
saying, because martialized I did taekwondoa hundred years ago. But when I
did do it, I remember itwas a lot of discipline. It was
a lot of mind as well,So I get that whole aspect and especially
what you're doing it whatever every dayor pretty much every day. You know,
it's it's a lot, and itcan take a toll on you too,
So it's good that you have that. You're aware of yourself aware,
(37:00):
and a lot of people aren't selfaware. You're thirty, right, so
I'm doing nine, So we sameage and a lot of people That was
one of the reasons I started thispodcast. A lot of people at our
age, they just like they're okaywith who they are, and there's no
okay. It would be okay withwho you are, but you have to
elevate and know what's writing was notand a lot of people are like,
(37:21):
this is just me. My grandma'seighty eight it's okay for her to be
like that. We're too young forthat, and there's so many people like
that, and it really just irksme. So I'm glad that you're very
self aware of everything that you're doing, and you beating people up, you
know, and enjoying it, puttingpeople in head locks. There, what
type of martial arts is it.I just had a mutai fight up in
(37:45):
Houston and I won that a fewweeks ago. Oh, okay, I
do mma, I do jiu jitsu. I'm focusing more on jiu jitsu right
now because I've been doing that fora while and have progressed the least because
it's it's a much more fun tojust punch people in the face than than
do the jiu jitsu techniques. Butjiu jitsu is a lot of fun when
(38:07):
you're actually like rolling. Okay, all right, If for the listeners,
the difference is Mutai is like punching, kicking, knees, elbows. Jiu
jitsu is like choking, breaking arms, legs, tendons, ligaments. It's
like the opposite of being a surgeon. I don't know. When I think
(38:28):
of jiu jitsu, I instantly thinkalike, Oh, naruto, and I
think of like throwing sure kins hispeople and running with your hands behind your
back. But now it's because itsounds like it would be Japanese, but
jiu jitsu's Portuguese. Oh wow,say we get a lesson to day y'all?
See, all right? Good stuff. I gotta put that in an
episode bio. So, now, nutrition plays a crucial role in our mental
(38:51):
health. So how do you seethe consumption of your cricket based protein influence
and mental health, especially those whothey deal with, you know, anxiety,
depression, escape. Well, wecould we could get pretty deep on
this, So I'm gonna say someinteresting facts about crickets that are a stretch
(39:12):
from just the health benefits. Thehealth benefits are there, there's that's scientific
data. What I'm about to saynow is me just being creative. So
when you're eating meat, most peoplesay that's the best quality protein. It's
(39:32):
because they don't know about crickets yet. But there's something about as a man
devouring the flesh of another animal thatlike gives you strength, which is kind
of fucked up and weird, butthat it is what it is. But
with crickets, you're eating like abunch of them, so you're getting more
souls per bite, so that's interesting. Also, there's less net death,
(40:00):
Like you're killing more animals by farmingagriculture than you are farming crickets. And
so we're actually getting a large influxof vegan and vegetarian customers who are switching
over. Crickets are an animal,Insects are animals, so it's not vegan,
(40:23):
it's not vegetarian. But that meansgolden cricket is single handedly putting an
end to veganism. I was gonnasay, you you the exception. They
say, like, I'm vegan, but if that cricket come around, I'm
gonna eat that. Yeah, it'sbecause it's because if you're eating plants in
(40:43):
the process to far to harvest thoseplants, everything in that field's got to
die. Not to mention the pesticides, you got to use pesticides. There's
there's no way you can grow plantswithout it in a mass quantity like that,
And there's there's obviously there's gonna beno pesticides in crickets because that would
kill the crickets, right. So, and it's a natural prebiotic as well,
(41:09):
so there's not bloating and plant protein. Plant protein does not taste good.
It's it's low in vitamins and nutrients. It has to be added in
if there are any end, that'soften from a synthetic source, whereas crickets
(41:29):
are high end calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, omega three,
omega six, vitamin B twelve andthose are all natural sources of this.
Okay, okay, now we're gonnaget more bad. We're gonna come
back. We're gonna spend the blockon the cricket in a minute. Now,
(41:49):
summer is here, y'all. Igotta look at the camera for this.
Summer is here. Everybody's back isbig and outlandish, and y'all let
these internet people clown y'all. Y'alllaughing reposted, but then go back to
doing what you was doing. Somethinghas to change. Even with me.
At one point when I was doingthe weight loss stuff, which I'm back
on it now, because I waswhat around, I had got a gained
(42:12):
way nobody knew this. So Ihad gained weight, had got back up
to two fifty and like March andthen I waved myself. Today I'm like
two thirty five. So I gottwenty more pounds to lose, So I'm
fifteen pounds down, so that's good. And with me, it was one
point of this cycle I'm doing nowit was two to three weeks in a
row. It was the exact sameway. If you keep doing the same
(42:34):
thing over and over again, Clearlysomething you're doing is not working, because
it'd be different if, like itwas the weight it was like two thirty
three point two, you know, then one week of two thirty two point
five, it was the literal sameevery week. So I said, Okay,
I'm not doing something right. Wegotta switch it up. And what
I've learned living a low carb lifestyleis the importance naketo. But the low
(42:58):
carb lifestyle is the importance of protein. That's why I was so interested when
you reached out and you talking abouthow high this is in protein. Most
people miss that key component. Andthis is a key component, y'all for
weight loss, weight gain, orweight magnets. So here's some statistics.
It says so according to protein andmental health. It says protein it's crucial
for mental health as the amino assetsthat make a protein service building blocks for
(43:22):
neurotransmitters, including serotonin, that's goodnews. And also I think about the
lady on Instagram. Her name isSurviving Vegan, and she was talking about
why a lot of people who switchover to veganism fail because they don't replace
the protein that they got from meatwith you know, like you were stating
the plant brace proteins and things. But in the same breath, the key
(43:45):
thing there again is protein. Whythey lose muscle as they'll switch over and
then all of a sudden they gofrom a big, strong person and then
they go to veganism and now theyyou know, a stick because they stopped
getting the protein. They think,oh, I don't need protein on just
get it from beans or plants, like you said. But in the same
(44:05):
breath, it's other ways to goabout it. So I like what you're
bringing up so far. Also, according to a Protein and Mental Health,
it says Tyroson and amino has tofind a protein access a precursor to dopament
and neuros transmitters involved the motivation andpleasure. Keep that in mind and then
another protein mental health from fernstromp. This is another author suggests that another amino
(44:29):
as a derived from protein, indirectlysupports dompleman production and contributes to the synthesis
of other newer transmitters, and inadequateprotein intake may lead to lower level of
neural transmitters, potentially impact and movestress and levels of overall mental health.
So not just your body, y'all. There are reasons why you may not
(44:51):
saying this is going to be thesavior to your mental health or mental illness
struggles, mental health struggles. Butthis definitely is one of the reasons why
your moves may be how they arebecause a lot of stuff y'all fail to
realize of your stuff. The foodaffects your body. Your body is speaking
to you on a regular basis, even if you don't realize it. So
when you aren't getting the proper nutrients, is going to tell you that in
(45:15):
some way, shape or form,And it's not always physical, sometimes it
is mental. And then the lastone, it says that according to protein
and way management by lady, proteinis more satisfying than carbohydrates of facts,
resulting and increased feelings of fullness andreduced in calorie take, thus aiding in
weight loss. So where you arenow obviously golden cricket, But I'm sure
(45:40):
that's not the only thing you eat. So do you prioritize protein in your
current diet and have you seen positiveseffects of it in your personal life?
Absolutely, protein is the most importantthing in my diet. I had an
interesting thought recently, like within thelast week. I've been doing golden cricket
(46:00):
for like a year, so it'sinteresting. It's interesting it took me this
long to think of this, butthere's a there's a lot of discrepancies in
terms of what is the proper humandiet, and I was thinking, why
not consult our closest living ancestors, the chimpanzees. So I looked at the
(46:22):
chimpanzee diet and they also eat insects, so it's they mostly eat fruit,
like forty nine percent of their dietis fruit, which someone told me last
night that Steve Jobs did that andhe died, So I don't think that's
a good idea. But I wasjust looking at the breakdown of their their
(46:43):
whole diet. Obviously the ratios gotto be tweaked. Something interesting that stuck
out to me was only the adultmales eat meat. So your your gender,
your age, probably even your geographicallocation has something to do with your
diet, so there is no onesize fits all. I think that's interesting.
(47:06):
But they're also Chimps are also knownto eat eggs and even milk occasionally
of other animals. So protein hasthe least amount of calories in terms of
there's there's three macronutrients, right,it's fat, protein, and carbs,
(47:27):
and then everything's like a breakdown ofthat, and protein has the least amount
of calories. Now, if youdon't know what a calorie is, what
a calorie means in science is theamount of a substance required to light.
If you light it on fire,it needs to be able to raise the
(47:47):
temperature of one gram of water byone degree celsius, which means that anything
flammable has calories. So calories arenot super important like counting calories. You
know, if you eat a bunchof wood chips, that's gonna be a
(48:09):
caloric intake, but that's not gonnagive you nutrients, and there's not much
protein in that. Do you seewhat I'm getting at? Like I'm trying
to cover a few different topics hereand bring it together. Yeah, but
basically protein is the building blocks oflife. You need carbs to process protein,
(48:35):
and you need fat as well. But the more protein you eat,
the less carbs and fat you're gonnacrave. And then carbs turn to sugar,
so you want to lower your carbintake. So I just try to
eat as much meat as possible andthe rest of my carb intake will be
(48:59):
fruit. Okay, so not fully, but have you ever heard of the
omnivore diet, not the excuse me, carnivore carnivore diet. Yeah, yeah,
that's that's kind of what I've beendoing. But I really like fruit,
So I was like, I can'tdo it fully. Well, again,
(49:19):
you've already proven that you're the exception. So you're the exception to vegans
and vegetarians. Don't nobody anybody thatcan say that but you. So you've
proven you're the exception. I remembera long time ago and they were talking
about diets, right they were sayingit was just a nutritious and she was
like, SAYE, for instance, you know you're a vegan and you want
to be vegan, but you justcan't give up shrimp then keep eating shrimp,
(49:45):
and and then of course it wasa one person, but shrimp is
the dirtiest animal. I'm like, look, just you' musing a message.
Shut up. The point is,if it's something that you just can't let
go of, then cool, thenkeep that in your diet. But so
the alternative perspective of that is thisis a good This is a good time
(50:06):
to bring discipline back into the conversation, whereas, not only will dieting benefit
your body, but it'll also benefityour mind by making the conscious decision to
control what goes in your mouth. And I say, that's the foundation of
self creation. Is there's no betterway to say this, And I'm sorry
that's what she said, but it'swhat goes in and out of your mouth.
(50:27):
It's your word choice and what youchoose to consume. That includes drugs,
alcohol, whatever is if you can, if you can decide to like
I used to be a big oncandy and sweets, sugar donuts, what
I don't do that anymore. Andthere was a training process involved where I
had to look at it be like, no, I can't do that.
(50:49):
I'm going to choose not to dothat. That makes you stronger, which
which can tie into I guess we'regoing to get in a fasting and a
little bit. But the discipline ofchoosing your diet. It's not just about
slimming down. It's not it's it'snot even just about your health. It's
about control over your mind. Becauseto look at something that you know will
be delicious and make your mouth feelamazing for like five seconds, which is
(51:15):
really all that sweets do. Thestrength to be able to say no,
I'm not gonna do that is paramount, and we'll bleed over into other areas
of life because feeding a hetonistic lifestyle, it doesn't end up in many good
places in it, and it endswith addiction and maxing out credit cards and
(51:37):
a lot of bad stuff. Itdoes because and that's a great set where
because you talked about how we thinkit's just and if you don't have control
over your dad, you don't havecontrol over nothing else. And I'm really
gonna that because you have because it'sand I'm sure somebody does. But in
reality, you mean to tell meyou can't control what you eat, but
you can control you'll spend it,You can control having sex with everybody,
(52:01):
You control your alcohol, and sayyou can't you can't. You can't control
everything, So you don't have theeating that you can't really control anything.
So that's a great seguent to thenext part, So, which is what
about fasting? So my question toyou before I go into my personal experiences
with that, do you fast andhave you seen it good results from it?
(52:21):
Negatives? Do you do it often? Do you not do it at
all? Um? Yeah? Yeah, I just I started fasting recently.
Good, Okay, it's got Ithink I did the third or fourth one
last week. I did about thirtyto forty hours. I did well over
(52:42):
a full day I did. Idid one night to the afternoon of like
two days later or something. Idon't remember the exact amount, but it
was it was well over twenty fourhours, less than forty eight anything you
noticed. Yeah, yeah. Sothe first time I fasted awful, hated
it. Second time I fastened awful. I think this was the third time.
(53:07):
Only this time I was like,Okay, I'm not happy right now,
but I can get through it.And I really didn't do shit that
day. I combined the fast daywith my rest day just to get him
both out of the way, andI was just like, fucking discipline,
this sucks, but I'm just gonnaget through it. And I'm not sure
(53:30):
if I'm doing it right, ButI also the last two The first two
times I fastened, I came backwith like a like a chicken and waffles
with blueberry syrup and whipped cream andstuff all over. It was amazing.
But I don't think that's how youshould end a fast. I think I
should. You should end a fastwith like like fruit and eggs and like
(53:52):
and like good stuff. So Idid that this time, and it shrinks
your stomach so you're not as hungryfor snacks and stuff. Snacking is a
big one. Snacking. I lovesnacking. I would like to. That's
one of the reasons I love doingmartial arts too, because I burned so
many calories that it allows me tokind of eat whatever I want. And
(54:15):
I still don't eat whatever I want, but I allow snacking for more than
I would have if I if Iwasn't that burning that extra like thousand calories
a day. So we're faster,and now I'm not gonna lie. I
gotta get more discipline with the partof when you said about after the fast
eat some terrible. I got thatbad. But I have been faster for
(54:37):
a few years now, and I'veseen a lot of different benefits from so
we're gonna get into that, butfirst for those that don't know, there
are different types of fast. We'llget into more of them as we go
along. But the first few dryfast, which is literally nothing not including
not even water. The second onethis period of time, so that's like
the most common I know. Ido was like six to six or six
(54:58):
to three, and I actually beendoing the first three months, three months,
first three days of the month thisyear to one month I've been doing.
Tiffy Montgomery has a raw fast thatshe does, and I do that.
When I tell you the benefits ofit, I've actually at this point
in my life and I like toeat. Let me think that anybody knows
(55:19):
me know I liked eat, Butat this point in my life, I
would like to get to the pointwhere I have one raw week, like
a legit week, where I'm justraw fruits and raw vegetables. Because the
health benefits you know that I noticedin just those three days was insane.
So I'm like, what would itwe like for a week. That's another
point I wanted to make. Yeah, yeah, chimps don't eat vegetables,
(55:43):
and that's pretty common with all mammals. Most mammals don't eat that many vegetables
like dogs can't even have like garlicor shalots, or onions or a lot
of things that I think. Ithink someone I didn't research this claim,
but someone told me that the reasonwhy a lot of vegetables are not as
healthy is because it requires that youkill the entire plant to eat it,
(56:08):
whereas like fruit, you can justpick it off and then more will grow.
Whereas like an onion's that's it,onion, your life's over, and
it like releases carcinogens, is whatthey told me. I didn't research that,
but it does make sense that you'renot supposed to eat something that you
have to kill the whole thing ofbecause it can't make more of itself.
(56:30):
I don't know. That's just aninteresting thought. Sorry, And I've heard
something to that extent before, butum, what about I remember I was
at a kickback once. It wasat an Airbnb, and we were outside
the back kicking back and I lookedoff at the tree and we was like,
is that a lemon tree? Andthat was like, it's a lemon
tree. So I remember me andmy homegirl we like took like three limons
(56:51):
and took them home almost a goodlimons. I don't know who those people
were, but I mean, it'sjust funny that you said you can literally
just take picket and like take ithome. You don't know for real,
I just what I did. Itwas they was big and they were full
of flavor, and I'm like,I don't know what they did with them,
limits, but they did what theywere supposed to, all right.
I think fruit is the most godlikecreation. I really do. Like it's
(57:14):
it's it's a work of art.It's physically esthetically beautiful, it's geometric patterned,
it tastes delicious, and it canfeed you. Like, I don't
think there's anything cooler than fruit inthis world. So it's funny that you
said god like, because um so, no, I guy. So it
was in Daniel one, it saidDaniel his friends refused to eat the king's
(57:36):
food, choosing to maintain their dietarylaws in order to honor God. They
exhibited strong self discipline, sticking totheir principles despite being in a foreign land.
So my question to you is withthat we talked about in a situation
where I know I've been watched thiswhen I've been to I'm an educator.
It's summertime now, but I'm aneducator, and you know how many times
(57:57):
you want to be disciplined and andyou're at work and this is magically the
day where they got pizza and wings, and oh, come down and get
something, and it's the day I'mfast. You're not how hard it is
for me to be like, Bro, now I'm like, let me just
go upstairs and read some stuff andthen I'll be like, oh, I'm
feeding. I'm eating this word rightnow, So I'm not. I'm not
(58:17):
gonna worry about that. Have youever been in a situation where it's like,
Bro, the day I'm fast orthe day I started a new diet,
here comes the temptation, Here comeseverybody with everything I love. Have
you been a situation like that before? Yeah? Totally the last two times
I've had. I had a friendthat was like cooking a whole bunch of
(58:37):
food at their house and I waslike, this never happens. Just on
this day. I was so irritated. But fast can be a lot on
a person's mental health, for sure. So now in a good way,
as I talked about earlier, withenhancing your brain with sleep, but we
kind of spoken to earlier. Fastand actually enhanced talking to function. Some
(58:58):
research suggest the entering the fast andenhance cognitive function and protects against any neurodegenerative
diseases. This is thought to occurthrough thought through process such as increased sailors
stress resistance, which I've heard thatbefore, enhance neuroplasticity, and reduce inflammation.
I do know for a fact, fast and reduces inflammation that I know
(59:19):
for a fact, which actually forthose who don't know, is not just
bloating, that's also sicknesses and thingsin the body. Yeah, So then
in risk of eating disorders, thisis a negative that does come with faster.
In some cases fast and trigger theperson disorder either patterns, particularly individuals
who have a history or are predisposedto eating disorders, and this can lead
(59:40):
to negative in fact impacts on mentalhealth. So that's something that's always,
you know, a duality to alot of things. It's always pluses than
negatives. But honestly, y'all,if you really learn how to do it
the first few times, it's gonnabe hard, and even once you become
an expert faster, they're gonna bedays where you're like, bro deftis,
I can't do this today. Butyou have to keep faith, keep keep
(01:00:01):
your mind strong, and note thatyou'll will You'll be happy that you were
successful. Yeah. The gratitude ismy favorite part. The gratitude meal at
the end when I break the fastand I'm just like, oh, food
is amazing. It. Usually I'lljust overeat and then I'll upset my stomach.
But it's a work in progress.I gotta work on that, but
(01:00:22):
I do. I didn't mention this. I pretty much intermittent fast every day.
I don't eat my first meal tolike two or three PM. But
I didn't really think of that asfasting. Oh yeah, there definitely is.
And that's what a lot of peoplewho lose that because I keep it
with um. Before I had gotback on this second weight loss journey,
I had I don't believe in coincidences, and I felt like I was trying
(01:00:43):
to like push me because I wasseeing on you know how you randomly see
stuff on your explore page, andI kept seeing I was never that big,
but I see the people who loselike one hundred pounds, eighty pounds,
forty five pounds and a lot ofthem the same. The stories work
consistent. Ay, then oh man, or a lot of innimitted faster,
so like you, they didn't eattoo one or two o'clock and then they
(01:01:06):
had like an eight hour window becausethere's different, you know, types of
innimented faster for those that don't know. Okay, so let's move on to
my next segment, which is Ichallenged that he a new challenger. So
on this segment, we kind ofchallenged everything that's been said thus far,
just to give the both sides ofthe ball again, the duality thing,
(01:01:30):
so good idea gold to cricket's uniqueidea deriving protein from insects. You've kind
of talked about where this came from, and just you know, now I
gotta ask this is the question. It's a million dollar question. How did
you find out? What made yousay of all insects and what made you
(01:01:50):
just say, did you maybe eata cricket when he was like three and
was like it's not so bad?Let me research it? Did you?
Pretty much? Except I was twentytwo and it was a scorpion and I
was in Thailand. Okay, Okay, it's it's what do you want to
set a fear? Factor something that'snot like a TV show. No,
I was just I was just hangingout in Thailand experiencing different perspectives of this
(01:02:14):
planet. I did see on theTV show recently that they were eating scorpion.
So was the scorpion good? Itwas good, Yeah, it was.
It was great. It tastes likeeveryone says chicken, man, but
it really did taste like fried chicken, but like more gooey in the middle,
like kind of like chicken fried chickenif it was a little yoki inside.
Okay, so you hate the scorpion, but also, crickets are the
(01:02:37):
worst thing you could have in theaudience if you're doing comedy. So I
was like, let's kill them alland eat them. There's layers to this.
There's layers about his recording right nownow, but seriously, so,
how did you so you did thescorpion? So, but how did that
lead to the cricket? I was, I was serious. Oh my god,
(01:03:12):
So you said you had to killthem all. I'm getting crickets right
now, dude, this is Ilaugh. So you didn't get a cricket,
I laugh. But the scorpion,he said, it tasts like fried
chicken. That was gluey in themiddle. Okay, I will say,
so there is a pre existing infrastructureof cricket farming going on because of reptile
(01:03:32):
and fish food, so we justkind of piggybacks on that, on the
pre existing infrastructure. Okay. Isee, I didn't have no clue of
that. So that's good that youeven thought of that. And it's again
just goes to show you how onelittle thing can trigger something else. So
how that scorpion triggered you to thisbusiness that you've only been doing for a
(01:03:54):
little over your correct And you knowwhat I'm saying, it's it's is going
up. And I definitely you know, when it comes to food, I
probably try anything at least once, maybe not anything. I won't eat chillings,
but I'll eat anything else. SoI would eat I would literally eat
the protein crotein. You might gota word you can add to your thing,
(01:04:15):
but I might eat the protein ofthe cricket protein. I might try
that soon and see what it's hiddenfor. But if I do it,
I'm telling you, I'm gonna geton Instagram and I'm gonna give a live
reaction. But it'd probably be goodbecause you say it takes better than the
plant ones. And I do theplant ones. So yeah, they come
in a shiny gold bar, peanutbutter, chocolate, banana, okay,
(01:04:39):
golden ticket and exactly. And wehave like the amount of people that the
percentage of people that say it's deliciousis like upwards of ninety eight percent.
I believe it. I believe itbecause sometimes those unique things you wouldn't think
would be good probably be good.I got good taste, man, I
(01:05:00):
get good taste in music. Igot good taste in flavors. And I'm
just here trying to spread it.Okay. So now with a fast,
the challenging the parts about a fast, It says going on the fast and
still doing what you shouldn't be doingor what you wanted to do is not
beneficial. So this something he saidwhich I gotta get better at, is
(01:05:24):
after a fast, eat a bunchof junk. If you're trying to really,
I feel like clogging up your spiritualears with like a bunch of seeing
in or stuff that doesn't feed yoursoul. Like, don't get it twisted.
We all watch stuff we want, should supposed who sometimes, but when
you're on the fast, I thinkit's it kind of defeats the purpose which
(01:05:45):
I'm getting better. If you're watchingjust blatant toxic stuff and I ain't gonna
have a habit of doing it sometimes, And what y'all fail to realize that
you think it's just those toxic conversationson social media? Stop watching the new
Really you started watching news altogether, but definitely stop watching it. If you're
on a fast, you'll be y'alldon't know what kind of stuff you to
(01:06:05):
be the game up with. Ithink you should cut out all forms of
entertainment that involved anyone that you don'tknow. Oh that's a that's a big
claim, and I'm sticking by it. I want to I'm gonna trying that.
I really am. Next, I'mgoing to fast. I'm gonna do
that because music you gives. Exceptfor music you can listen to strangers music,
(01:06:29):
it's too good to stop listening to. We're gonna listen to your music.
That's we're gonna. We're gonna putyour song at the bottom. We
said, y'all click the link whileyou fast and listen to this song.
Um So, I remember something happenedto my podcast one time and it had
got deleted. It was something crazy, Hey got deleted off this this this
(01:06:50):
podcast out. I remember, Isaid, no, I'm not playing with
that. I instantly dropped. Istopped drop everything I was doing. I
stopped eating for the rest of theday. I'm like, guy, we
need to fix this. What's goingon? It literally came back up the
next morning. It was like,oh it was over. It's like,
yeah, better be what you mean. How you just delete a podcast off
the time network Like they say itwas an accident and think I was supposed
(01:07:11):
to be cool about it. Y'alllost your mind. But it's something to
keep your mind. There's powers behindfast and Day, like I said earlier,
spiritual, emotional, and physical. All right, now let's move on
to the next section. This iscalled the weekly sabbatical. In this time,
we reflect, we think about thingsthat have happened, and just kind
(01:07:31):
of reminisce on some things. Sonow we're doing my research on you.
You talk a lot, you doa lot of podcasts. What has been
your favorite podcast interview and why?Probably this one man, You're awesome.
Oh oh, thank you so much. I was really thinking he was gonna
say one of you do a lot, so yeah, but they keep getting
(01:07:54):
better. And that's the last I'vebeen. I've been podcasting New in Comedy
podcast for the last like six years, but it's not until really a couple
of months ago where I was like, I'm gonna take a more positive approach
to life and try to spread positivityand sobriety and exercise and health and stuff.
(01:08:15):
So I like this new new journeyI'm on. That's good. So
what makes a podcast whether you listento it on your own time or be
a part of it, but whatmakes a podcast stand out to you?
All Right, I'm gonna be superhonest and don't take any of this personally.
I'm only being honest because you're beinggreat and you're you've been a great
(01:08:38):
host, but not interrupting, stoppingtalking when it's the guests turn to talk,
making it about the guest. WhenI'm hosting, it's I may I
do the same thing. I setthe stage, but when you have the
guests, it should be about theguest. And you've been great about all
this, by the way, Sothis is not a criticism to you at
all. It's a criticism to anyoneelse who's listening to this, who wants
(01:09:01):
to do a podcast and I've beenon the other podcasts where they're not so
great. They don't they haven't letme talk as much that maybe they're just
new to it or something, butyeah, but it doesn't. Also,
not saying like or um is important. That's like the first thing that that
you gotta figure out. My firstfew seasons, it was like um every
(01:09:26):
other word. But' you're growing too, and they're growing so they're probably still
new um. I just said rightnow now. It's hard not to because
the silence is uncomfortable. Yeah, because then if you're listening with headphones in
and it's just like you're like, hang on, did my ship just pause?
You gotta flow going, and you'relike, hang on, I gotta
(01:09:46):
think about what I'm about to say. So I'm still working on that too.
Sometimes I pause too long. We'vetalked about your music. You have
two rap albums three threes you ohwow, wow, wow wow wow,
I'm messing up. You got threerap albums with over millions of views.
(01:10:08):
So you're saying the beats a fire. You said they're ridiculous, but they're
funny. Would you call them spoofsor satires of like rap today or is
it just like you really just wasawesome, like funny stuff like legit,
Like I'm not trying to be hadno deeper message, like you know,
people create parodies and I'm just reallyI'm just being funny. I mean,
(01:10:30):
I take different angles. There's somewhere I've specifically tried to be satirical of
some of my favorite artists, andthen there's other where I'm just like trying
to put words together because they're theysound fun together, like I'm a chocolate
octopus with an Oculus and the Apocalypse, Like it doesn't make any sense,
but it's like it sound like Tylerto create a little bit. So who's
(01:10:54):
your top three favorite rappers? LarryJune. Oh, we just had a
concert in Houston and I missed it. Sugar free Okay, probably big al
Okay, okay, theah, LarryJune just had a concert. I'm so
mad I missed it. I gottahand tech it when I'm trying to be
(01:11:15):
like him, but just because Ilike I like that look, I gotta
add to it though. But okay, that's good. That's good from Larry
June is the most motivational rapper ever'sHis lyrics are so good and like I
feel like, everyone who's trying tocome up should be listening to him if
you like hip hop, Like hismessage is so solid and so positive.
Absolutely, I got one of hisshirts in my closet because one of my
(01:11:38):
friends couldn't fit it, so theygave it to me, and I was
just like, it's a blessing.I got his album up here and you
can't see it though. So howdoes your music intercept with your work at
all? It hasn't played a rolein promoting your business or do you plan
on doing that in the future ifit hasn't. I made a golden cricket
like jingle, made a rap aboutmy company. It's got some some hate
(01:12:05):
on it on TikTok, but itwas it was fun. It was fun
to make it. If you ain'tgonna hate it, you ain't proper.
I had a few people comment Iwas gonna buy this product until I heard
that jingle at the end, andI was like, Oh, they're gonna
buy it. They just they weren'tgonna buy it anyways. So this is
for those who you may feel like, this is the help him with the
(01:12:28):
decision portion. So this is fory'all the people, and he's gonna you
know, green lit in some ofmy research, whether he agrees or not,
or they have anything he wants toadd to it. So you struggle
with discipline in your diet. Here'ssome tips I found that would be extremely
effective. So the first one iseat a balanced breakfast. Now I'm indifferent
about this one only because if I'mintermitted fast in or if it's a day
(01:12:50):
where I'm just like, I'm notfeeling it, but it's some days it's
good to have an actual breakfast becausethe role of protein rich meals and weight
management, that's what it's from thatarticle. And this article emphasized the importance
of incorporating lean protein sources in everymeal, and it says it gave some
options. It says like chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, say tofu,
(01:13:11):
I don't eat that, and leancuts of meat to promote feelings of
fullness and blood sugar regulations. Sonot even just fullness, it does something
which your blood sugar as well. The second one, which is I guess
at old to you the benefits ofprotein rich snacks. A guy for Healthy
Eating suggests adding protein rich snacks betweenmeals to prevent overeating and stabilized blood sugar
(01:13:34):
levels. Examples include Greek yogurt andhardball egg, a handful of nuts,
or at golden cricket protein bars.See how we did that. The third
one it says protein sup supplementation toenhance recovery and increased muscle mass. This
research study details the benefits of addingprotein powder that shakes so smoothes after workouts,
(01:13:54):
adding in muscle recovery and promoting safety. And again, y'all have a
prouder too correct? Would you sayI was about to make you a promo
code? I said, I havea prouder too correct. Yeah, we
have a horte chota cricket protein powderfor smoothies. Okay, Now I want
(01:14:14):
to know because if I'm actually runningout of my protein powder, like literally
it's like on his last leg um, what does it taste like? You
know? Her chotta is okay?Duh Okay, Okay, I'll go okay,
yeah, yeah it's it's it's goodman like. People people love the
protein bars, but people love thepowder even more, which honestly, I
(01:14:38):
prefer protein bars over making shakes. But you know, the customers have the
last word, and the customers loveit. Okay, we've made more money
off the the powder. We've hadmore powder sales than bars since since it
dropped. It's just taken over.Oh well, we like a takeover.
(01:14:59):
You didn't got the summer. Youhave to summon joys Now. Let's move
into fasting. So the different typesof fasting that you can should try and
do. Water fasting. This isthe type that involves consuming only water for
a said period of time. Youuse the twenty four to seventy two hours.
It believes to support weight loss andsailor clean up. However, longer
water fast should be monitored closely andthey could lead to nutrition nutrient deficiencies and
(01:15:24):
other health risk if not managed correctly. This involves because this other fast involves
only consuming vegetables and fruit juice fora certain period of time or juice fast.
I've done that before and it ispromoted as a detoxification strategy, a
weight loss or way to start ahealthy eating pattern, which it does when
you do. When I juicing, when I was juicing, I was raw
(01:15:45):
and I was juicing at the sametime. And I've done just juicing before
too. You gotta watch what juicesyou do because if you go buy a
bunch of sugary juices is the defeatthe purpose. So you either need to
make the juice at home or goto somewhere and get them. And I
didn't notice. I was even mycravings were like four more you know,
healthier things, and I did.And I will find myself saying because typically
around the same time a week,I will want like a cookie. I
(01:16:08):
love cookies, right, and I'llbe like, oh, I think a
cookie today. And I noticed,like I was like, I don't have
to go get one versus you knowhow some people like they have they fixed,
stop letting food run you. Idon't know who needed to hear that.
The next fast method cycles appearance betweeneating and fast and have gained popularity
(01:16:30):
in recent times. According to astudy published an anal review of nutrition,
entering and fast can help with weightloss, can improve metabolic metabolic health.
And this is from affective inner mintand fast and then the last one.
It says many millennials are socially consciousand value driven. Fasting for cause this
is fast and for calls such asenvironmental sustainability or to raise awareness for social
(01:16:55):
issues can be a meaningful practice. So when you're fast and for a reason,
I mentioned earlier with the situation whereI started faster because the stuff happened
to my podcast. I'm telling youyou seem pretty I've got biblical examples if
y'all want them, of people fasterand gett into what they were asking for.
And you have to make sure you'redoing it with a clean mind,
though, And that's why I saidthe importance of him, which I loved
(01:17:15):
when he said, which I'm gonnahave to. I'm holding myself accountable on
camera of taking a break from entertainmentrelated stuff when I'm faster, because I
can still indulge in toxicity in mybrain just because it's gone from the body,
but you bring it in your Brain'slike a battle almost, and so
I wanted to be where it's completeon both ends. So let me ask
(01:17:39):
you this before we move into thelast final segment. But those who are
interested losing where they're gaining with ina healthy way, how can they effectively
incorporate cricket protein into their diets?Do you have any recommended recipes or diet
plans. I'm gonna give one,and I say this because I did it.
I do know there is a wayto make like pancakes and waffles with
protein powder. So that's what Iwas gonna say. Someone just did that
(01:18:01):
with our product the other day andthey said it was delicious. Yeah.
I did that with the one Igot. I got like a banana flavor
one, and that one's good.Um. Any other suggestions you might have
for any recipes. You can mixit in the yogurt too. My favorite.
If I'm really gonna go do someget down on some sweets, I'm
gonna I'm gonna do yogurt, granolaand a bunch of fruit and cinnamon and
(01:18:27):
peanut butter. And if you mixthe protein in with the yogurt, you
can get a pretty good consistent andthen you got protein yogurt. Because the
Greek, the Greek yogurt, it'snot too good. I don't like it.
There's it's very healthy for you,but it's it doesn't taste good.
I want to get that that sweetfix right now. I feel you because
(01:18:47):
I like eating sweets. It's likeI'm gonna need something that's gonna hit it.
And they'll find a lot of lowcard stuff that does it. And
you know, the little treats andsnacks, and I like to experiment with
what I stuff so that's why Idefinitely want to try it at some point.
I'm just waiting on some money tohit. All right, let's move
into the final segment for the day. It has been a great conversation.
(01:19:09):
I knew it was gonna because whenhe says stand up comedian, I'm like,
okay, you know how to talk. So we're good. So let's
move to the final segment. Andthis is called game time. All right,
Now, this game is called disciplinary. I'm going to give you several
scenarios, and I want you totell me whether or not this person has
(01:19:31):
discipline or not so much. You'reready, all right, This one's pretty
easy. The first one says, when the person goes to work and they're
surround, they're on a fast.I've been doing good for three days.
Today is the last day. However, their boss decides to buy them lunch
and comes back with barbecue from theirfavorite restaurant. They decide to eat it.
(01:19:55):
Where they discipline or where they not? You said, it's been three
days, yeah, and to thisday was so, say, for instance,
the fast from six to six theydid the first three days. It
was four days, and they didthe first two days, and they get
to day four and it's like noon, it's time for lunch. They have
a few hours shots six o'clock, competing the fast and the boss decides to
(01:20:18):
buy the whole work off as munchand from their your favorite place, man,
barbecue. That question is angled forme to say that they're not disciplined,
But I think that I think theyshould have the barbecue, all right,
just to meet though, just tomeet. Okay, a person goals,
(01:20:42):
and every time they get paid, they decide to buy clothes and shoes
that they don't need. So notdisciplined. You should never be spending money
on clothes unless you have so muchmoney that you don't know what to do
with it. Like, man,I up until I bought a house,
I had maybe one or two pairsof shoes and like one pair of pants,
(01:21:04):
and I was just I was justsaving that all up, and I
bought a house with it. Looky'all, So don't go shop and go
buy go shop four house. That'swhat he's telling you, all right.
Cannot control this person decides to date. However, they're making conscious that they're
(01:21:24):
not having sex on a regular becausethey're trying to keep their test toss torone
in order. Super disciplined, allright. This person decides that they love
to shop, however they only doit in certain increments in certain after certain
months of the year. More disciplinedthan the other guy, Yeah, for
(01:21:50):
sure. And then the last one, this person spends all their money on
Golden Cricket products. All their money. I don't want all your money,
just like some of it. Allright, good stuff. Well, before
I go to the last question forthe audience, I'm gonna ask you just
(01:22:12):
say one more things today today,so you mention you have a ton more
products to roll out in the future, Can you give us a sneak peek
and to what we can expect fromGolden Cricket down the line and how it
aligns with your vision of health andsustainability. We're gonna be doing more flavors
of protein bars, more flavors ofpowder, and the possibilities are really endless,
like we could do we could. It's cricket powder, you know,
(01:22:33):
it's powderized, so you can putthat in anything. And is now a
time to plug my website or isthat it? All right? So yeah,
go to Golden Cricket dot com anduse promo code unbig for fifteen percent
off lowercase. I just made thatfor you right now. If you want
(01:22:58):
something done, do it in me. That's another jem I got for you.
You said do it immediately. Yeah, okay, okay, but okay,
all right now let's move into itthis and this is for the audience.
It's not for you, So forthe audience this after this episode question
a challenge for the week. Doyou plan to start fasting this summer?
If so, how alright? Weweeks into sum of y'all. Just because
we own week week in this smackdab in the middle, don't mean you
(01:23:21):
just say, oh, I'll waitto next summer. And see that's your
problem. You think you waited toolate, so you'd be like, oh
no, no, no, I'mjust waiting now, stop waiting. Do
it now. Um, it's beena great conversation. Anything else you want
to add or say before you gotoday? Follow me on Instagram at Cricket
Lord MMA and my company Instagram isat Golden Cricket, Inc. All right,
(01:23:45):
so that's good stuff. Okay,y'all. So that's all we got
for to day this this episode twelve. I will see y'all next week for
thirteen and after thirteen, we moveinto the podcast series of the season.
We'll season seven, which just calledIndustry Plan, and I'll give you more
en depth about that next week.Alright. PSA signing, I always remember
(01:24:05):
keep your head of like in thatcurrent. Remember who you are, make
your mind up, don't let himmake you
