(01:49):
and we have a super special guest tonight if you
would like to introduce yourself.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Copperheads from the trans Allegating Lunatic Asylum.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, you know, not imprisoned there, but doing tours there.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
That's debatable.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
We were talking of it before we started recording. You
said you've been there for ten years now, which is
honestly amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, it's been I was there eight and a half
years and was a guide first, then an assistant manager,
and then, like I said, got burned out and I
left for about seven years and got invited back, and
(02:38):
I've been there about a year and a half. Yeah,
about a year and a half now, I believe it's right.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Yeah, you've definitely been there a long time, and I'm
sure you probably know that place, or at least you
know the paranormal side of it better than I don't
know as anyone else. They've been there longer than you.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
At this point, there's one that has been there. I
think this will be her eleven eleven years. So yeah,
there's and let's see, she started right about the time
(03:23):
I left, Just before I left.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Somewhere in there, she knew someone else had to take
up the mantle on who's been there longest. Yeah, so
how did how did you get into into paranormal investigating?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
It was back when I was in Missouri. I Uh,
I knew that I could feel stuff, but I really
didn't know what it was.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Me and a buddy of mine. Have you ever heard
of Wilson's Creek NASCAR battlefield. Yeah, okay, that was not
too far from where I lived, and me and a
friend of mine used to ride our horses up there.
They'd let us ride on the road and we were
riding up old wire Road towards Bloody Hill and that
(04:25):
was that was one of the worst battles around. Yeah,
and we were riding towards it, and I told my buddy,
I said, I said, man, I said, this feels weird.
I said, it's like it's like we're being watched. And
about that time, the horses ears went forward and they
(04:49):
were parking up like they could sense something. And we're
riding towards it, and I'm like, man, it feels like
they're going to getting ready to come over the hill.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
And we rode through and everything and got back and
was getting ready to put the horses up in the park.
Ranger he come up and he says, how was a
riding there? It's good man, And I said, I said,
it was kind of weird over towards Bloody Hill. I said,
the horses sensed it, and I sensed it. I said
it was like they were ready to come over the
(05:20):
hill at us. And he looked at me and he says,
you don't know what today is, do you? And I'm
like what he said, Today's the anniversary of the battle.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
And so that was kind of that made me like.
And then my neighbor when I lived in Nixa, my
neighbor next door he said, my house is haunted. And
I'm like, yeah, whatever, you know, I'm from Missouri. Show
me and anyway, I never did really believe it. And
(05:56):
he called me over one day he says, I need
some help find a figure out how to fix this
bathroom floor. And I'm like, all right, and I worked constructing.
So I went over and was looking at it. I like, damn,
I said, your wife home. He said no. I said
you sure? He said yeah, he said word. And we're
(06:18):
sitting there looking at this and we do three eighteen
forty Mountain Man, the Mountain Man Rendezvous and French and
Indian War, Revolutionary War, that kind of stuff. And his
wife made dresses. And a woman walked past in a
(06:40):
white mob cap, an apron and a blue dress. And
I'm like, what I said, You said she wasn't home.
He said, she's not. I said, she just walked by.
And I stepped out in the hallway and at the
end of the hallway it was turned looking at me,
but it was only from the knees up. Nothing was
the floor.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Oh that's so creepy.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
And I'm like, uh. He come over and he says,
you see her. He put his head and his head
broke the plane of the of the doorway. The door jam.
She disappeared, She just disappeared, and he said, you saw her.
(07:25):
I said, I don't know what I saw. I'm going home,
and I said, don't bother me. I said, I got
to mull this over a little bit, and I went
to the house and sat there for a little while.
His wife come home and come over, knocked on door,
and she says, I hear you saw our friend. And
(07:48):
I described her, and she started laughing. She says, you know,
you're the only man that's ever seen her. Oh my gosh,
I'm like what she says, it's always kids and women. Wow,
you are the only man that has seen her. So
that got me wondering. And yeah, it's just snowballed since then, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
You were like, all right, what else is out there?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
And then, like I said, when we moved here, I
can't remember exactly when we started down at the asylum
what year, But like I said, my wife was a
guide first, a daytime guide the history, and then she
(08:39):
moved into the paranormal, a nighttime stuff. And I got
my first tour from Like I said, Supe Parker was
a She was a nurse there and while it was
in operation, and then she became a historical guide. Yeah,
(09:06):
and then she did paranormal and Miss Sue gave me
my first paranormal tour and most of the people were
staying around her. I was like a kid in a
candy store. I was walking down the ward to wait
from everybody. When we had a few minutes to check
stuff out, I was running around checking stuff out. Yeah.
(09:30):
It was. It was wild. That is my first, my
first EVP in there. I was down in the Civil
War kitchen.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
We were walking out and I called the Civil War kitchen.
It's just a kitchen. It's in the Civil War section.
We were walking out and I told this guy, I said, man,
I said, I don't know if you'd feel stuff or not.
He's like what I said, I don't know if you
feel stuff or not. I said, but something's here.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
And as I was saying that, this guy was whistling Dixie.
Oh wow, and then it says who'sah at the end
of the EVP.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Oh that is so creepy.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
And I got home and I'm listening to all my
stuff and when I heard that, I was like, oh my.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Gosh, yeah, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
But yeah, it's it was. It's an interesting place. Yeah
for sure.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Is that a Is that EVP up on your YouTube page?
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I don't know, Okay, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
It might be I'll look through later. I see one
on here that was in the Civil Wars section in
the cafeteria area. I'm not sure if that's the same one, though.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
It might be. Okay, I've got so many and like
I said, I haven't posted my YouTube in quite a while.
I do have some evidence and stuff I'm getting ready
to post to that.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Again, I need to get that rolling.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
I know it's it's hard to keep up with all
that stuff.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah. Uh, Like I said, I've got my copper Head
Facebook page. Then I think it's Copperheadick's thirty eight k h.
My YouTube is at Copperhead. Yes, so I'm pretty easy
to find.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Yeah, keeping it consistent across.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Things I tried to, that's great.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Uh. So is that is that EVP? Is that like
kind of up there for like some of like the
creepiest things you've seen while at the asylum.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
No, not at all. This last weekend, last Saturday night.
I always when I'm guiding, I always do a little
icebreaker with my group, right so I to know them,
they know who I am and all this good stuff.
(12:18):
And I was doing that, and at the end of
Ward one or at the beginning of four, I couldn't
tell where it was coming from. It sounded like somebody
set a chair down real hard. I wouldn't chair. And
we do have the word one is completely restored. Yeah,
and they've got antiques and stuff all down through there,
(12:40):
so you've got to be careful in there. But I
hear this and I'm like, what, I turn around, I'm looking.
I kind of turned to look back at my group.
I said that was interesting, and I get ready to
start talking again, and it does it again, and I said, okay,
and I took off down the ward well. I figured
(13:01):
my group would follow me. They stayed right there by
the exit door. Well. I walked down to check it out,
and I couldn't figure it out. I looked at all
the rooms and everything, and I couldn't figure it out.
I come back and then I gave them the tour
and got everything done, and I told him, I said,
I'm gonna go back over to one and see if
I can figure this out. Yeah, And I went back
(13:25):
over to Ward one and they were all on in
the Civil War section in word four and then word
four can be a little creepy too. And I went
over and I'm standing there by the exit door at
the end of the ward on one, looking towards the
center section. And I thought, well, I'm gonna call. I'm
(13:46):
gonna call the manager. Ree was managing, so I said,
I'm gonna call. I thought, I'm gonna call her. I
called her and I said, you did you hear that?
And she's like, well, I'm out back. She was back
in the office working on paperwork. And asked her who
was above me, to see if they heard it. Well,
they were on the other side of the building, so
(14:06):
they didn't hear it. Yes, And I'm talking to Rie.
I'm looking up the hallway and I see my shadow
on a door about a third of the way up
the ward. I'm looking at the shadow. I'm talking to Ree,
and I look down and my shadows on the floor
in front of me. What And I looked back up
(14:31):
and the shadow that was at the door turned and
went into the room.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Oh, that is one of the creepiest things I've ever heard.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
I may or may not have said a few things,
and Ree said, are you okay? I said, yep, I said,
I just watched the shadow that I thought was mine
walking to a room. He says, go check it out.
I said, I'm already on my way. Then I'll call
you back here in a little bit. And I went
(15:03):
into the room and tried to get something going, and
it wouldn't. It wouldn't communicate with me at all.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Yeah, I guess it was just done.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
I went and met up with my group, well, one
of the one of the couples. They come out and
I told them what happened, and they went over to
the door and she had a K two. The K
two started going crazy.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
And I walked up and the K two kind of quit. Yeah.
So I biked away. The K two started going crazy.
I'm like, okay, you all see what you can get.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Obviously it doesn't want to talk to me, apparently. So
I turned and went on and not really my groups,
My groups really didn't need me around. I don't guess
you could say. And when that happens, I usually just
go sit somewhere and watch and all this good stuff.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
And I've got a really creepy picture from Ward four
I was setting. It's on the church pew and it's
from it's from a few months back. I'm sitting there
and I got a crazy feeling and then I pick
a picture. Well, when i'm guiding, I'm don't really have
(16:23):
time for me to do what I like to do.
So I had a couple of ladies walking up and
I heard one of them say did you see that?
And so I just glanced at my picture and I
didn't really pay attention to it, and I shut it
off and they come up and they said, did you
see that? I said, see what? And they said A
(16:45):
lady walked out of the room into the hallway and
I went back in. Well, I didn't see that in
my picture right at just passed towards They were talking
about there's a big black mass on the floor and
(17:06):
it blocks the wall and the doors and everything. And
then to box them out and got a round It's
got a round spot like a head on part of it.
And so I got home and I was looking to
my pictures and I was like, what I blew it up?
(17:29):
And I looked at it. I'm like, holy crap. Yeah,
but I just got that weird feeling such a culture
and I've been told and I don't claim it myself.
I've been told that I'm a sensitive. I just know
I'm me and I do what I do. You know,
(17:53):
I don't but a label on myself, I guess.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
I mean it's also it sounds like it's been a
normal part of your life, so I mean, it's just
normal for you even though it's paranormal.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah. Yeah, Well my wife bought me a shirt one
time and it actually says paranormal is my normal.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Amazing.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
But we I've, like I said, I've just been submersed
in it now when I first started. When I first started,
a lot of the guides that were there we had
to go. I had to go down and lock up
the bottom of your recovery one night after flashlight tours,
(18:47):
and I told him. I said, yeah, I'll go lock
up for you. And I hollered at one of the
guys and I said, come on, let's go. He said,
I'm not going with you. I'm like what he said,
I'm not going with you. I looked over his brother
and I said you to go. He says no. I'm
like what, you guys are gonna make me walk this
by myself. And they're like, uh, yeah, we're not going
(19:11):
with you. They said you're a freaking magnet. And I said,
stuff happened around you all and yeah, and I'm like, dude,
that's why you're here. He said, no, it's not. So
I had to walk down to the bottomy recovery from
the c intersection by myself and word D. I usually
(19:33):
don't use flashlights and ward D. Almost every paranormal guide
there hates word D. Yeah, it's just one of those
words that just yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
It's weird things happening, like not a good weird yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Yeah. And I went down and went into the cage.
I locked the cage's door, went down the stairs, locked
the bottom door, walked all the way across the bottomy
recovery and it was feeling really weird.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
And I reached the door and I'm opening it up
and I get kicked in the butt, as just like
somebody ran back and kicked me with a work boot
and it actually lifted me forward, and at first it
scared me. Yeah, and then my red hair took over
(20:30):
and I got mad.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Correct order of operations.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
And I started in. I said, I don't touch you,
you don't touch me. And I was just going off
and I've been down there before. Later with the group
and the lady didn't want to go down there. I
(20:55):
couldn't go past the half the half wall. I'd get
a headache immediately. And I'm watching down there and this,
Oh my gosh, he's huge. I'd give him probably seven
foot easy. And he walks out into the doorway and
(21:16):
is looking right at me. And I'm standing there and
my group is walking through him.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
And when they're walking out, they're wiping their face and
feeling for cobwebs. Oh yeah, And they're walking through him
and he's right there and I'm standing there looking and
the lady's standing there with me. She leaned over and
she says, can't they see him? I'm like, what, you
can see him too?
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Yeah, any one else could.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Now, And we were we were sitting there, and finally
it was time to move on, so we moved a
different location and I got to where I could go
down and talk with him.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
I called him the big guy because he never would
give me his name. Yeah, and I walk in and say, hey,
big guy, and I get I'd guess session going. And
one of the wildest ones was Flashlight Tours. It was
the last one that was coming through there. For the
for the season. And I told my group, I said,
(22:25):
hopefully he's not burned out. I said, we'll see. And
I've got those little mini mag lights that twist Yeah, okay.
I twisted it where it was barely off, and I
stood it up on that concrete floor, standing straight up
(22:45):
and not backed away. And I said, hey, big guy said,
I know you're tired of the dog and pony show.
I said, but my, the people I've got with me
really would like to know that you're here. Can you
turn that light on for me? Immediately came on, and
(23:06):
I said, okay, just to prove that I'm not doing this,
I'm gonna count to three. When I say three, shut
the light off. And I went one, two, three, and
it went off, and I'm like, oh my gosh, Oh
my gosh. And I told him, I said, I know
you're tired of this, I said, And I've got a
bunch of chickens in my group, I said, I said,
(23:30):
if you want to see him, run, turn that light on,
knock it over. I never dreamed it would do it. Yeah,
the light came on and fell over.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Oh my gosh, and my group, oh my god, he
doesn't he doesn't want us.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Here, I said, you calm down, and I was laughing.
I went over and picked up my light and I said,
I said, I said thanks. Big guy said that gets
me out of here earlier tonight too.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
I love that he was, so.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
I said, I'll be back to talk to you later.
And I shut off the light and we went on
and my group couldn't get out of there fast enough. Yeah,
And I was locking up that night as we went.
But yeah, that's that's one of them. And I don't
know if I've got that picture post on my crprate
(24:23):
page or not. Yeah, one of the one of the
wildest ones. And I had never seen it. And Brandy
is the manager and she she was there for a
(24:44):
filming or something and went down and had to go
through board four and on the way down board four,
Oh he's a creepy dude. It came out on it
hand and feet out into the hallway.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
And then it got over into the into the day
area and she went down, locked up and went back
out on the sidewalk back to the center section. She
wouldn't go back through the building. Well, they put that
on the flashlight tours and my flashlight tour I had
(25:25):
went downward for that that time, and I went through
and I said something about it, and I took them
down and out, and none of my group because if
they have tickets, we take them back through with us. Yeah, well,
none of my group had tickets, so I get to
walk back by myself. No, biggie. I turned the corner
(25:48):
and that thing crawled out in the middle of the
floor and I'm like, no, not tonight, We're not We're
not doing this. And it turned and went back in
the room. And I come up there and I was
shining my flashlight in there and I was looking around.
I didn't see anything. I shut my flashlight off, kept walking,
(26:10):
and the next flashlight tour was the exact thing.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Wow, it's too And.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
I went down and let them all out and I'm
like crap. I walked over and I looked come out
of the hallway. I'm like, dude, I'm telling you, not
right now, not right now. And I kept walking. I
was walking slow, but I was kept walking, and it
went over into the day area and I don't know
(26:41):
where it went. And I've seen it one other time
since then. And there's one did you watch Did you watch? Nick?
And Katrina when they were there, when they were at
(27:02):
the asylum and they stayed the night.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
I don't think I've seen them.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Well, they were up on ward r m hm, and
the cameraman was facing them, which is facing the transition
hall into S. Yeah, and they caught it on camera,
(27:29):
crawling on the floor and going out the board to S.
And that's I had. I had sense uh quit working
down there. But when that thing popped up on the thing,
I always jump around, Oh my gosh, they got it,
they got it. I'd seen it. I'd seen it probably
(27:52):
three times, and I didn't know the story. And everybody
calling it the creeper, and I've told I've told everybody
quit calling it that.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Yeah, that's probably gonna make it men.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Because there was some kind of a ruck us up
there one night and they sent either a security or
an orderly up and he went to check and got
up there and there was a pile of clothes laying
down at the far end of bar and he's like what,
So it drops down to check out this pile of clothes. Well,
(28:27):
the pile of clothes came to life. Oh this is
when it was in the operation. And there was a
lady patient in there that didn't have any legs.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
And I'm wondering if that's not her. Wow.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
And I've been trying to communicate, but I can't when
when she decides to show herself, she's bugging away.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
And my very first night back, we saw shadow figures
down at the end of S. So we walked down
that way first, and we go over into R and
the first room on the right. I stopped about there
(29:20):
and my whole group was lined up and I was
telling them about stuff. And there's a you can see
like somebody peeking out the window down at the fore
end on the bottom right corner, and it happened. So
we're sitting there watching that, and the lady had an
obulus and the ogulist said, can't see huh. And I
(29:45):
had a trainee with me that night. Yeah. And the
trainee turned on her flashlight and the ogulust immediately said
back off, and he shut it back off. Well, then
I hear like and slapping in something being drugged. Interesting, Yeah,
to my right, and I looked it came out of
(30:08):
that first room and went behind all my people and
out the door.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
And nobody saw it because she turned on her light.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Oh my gosh, so you were the only one who
saw it.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
And blinded all then. And I was looking at the
far end when she turned on her light. And when
I see a light, when I see a light come on,
I will not turn to look at it.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Oh I wish I could trade myself out of doing that.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
And they were all you could see them all twirling
and looking down trying to see what was scooting past them.
And that was my very first night back.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
They were like, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Uh huh, and I've turned Oh man, there's so much
that has happening in there. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Have you found there's like a time of year that
it's more active there? No, No, just all through the year.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
No, yep, ye you never you never know. Scott Sucle
used to work at ASR and Rochelle was at hell
View and we were going to bring in Sharon Coyle
up at Rolling Hills. M What we were doing was
(31:26):
when we were all three working at the same time,
we'd keep in touch and see what the activity was doing.
Oh that's smart, now, this is this is absolutely wild.
One night, two o'clock, it just stopped. The building went,
(31:48):
the building went quiet. Nothing was going on. You couldn't
You couldn't get anything to happen. I message Scott and
I said, how's your activity? This was about two thirty.
(32:09):
He said, dude, it would like somebody shut off a
light switch at two o'clock. Yeah, And it was the
same with Rochelle. Wow at two o'clock. And that's one
in Pennsylvania, one in Ohio, and one in West Virginia. Yeah,
they all three stopped. That's so creepy at two o'clock.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
That's super creepy.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
And we've had, oh, we've seen so many shadow figures.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Show shadow the common one, it seems like.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
Yeah. Yeah, and I've seen more shadow figures since I've
been back, Yeah, this time, and it's kind of strung.
I know, my energy has probably changed from being gone
for so long. Yeah, and the building's energy isn't the
(33:14):
same interesting it was when I left. Yeah, and I
think it's basically me having to relearn the building.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Now there's a few that I've got one that I
always go talk to. None of the other guides like,
none of the other guys like going back there. He
doesn't like people, and for some strange reason, he likes
me and I'll go back there and set and dimptizing
(33:54):
rods out, do a session, talk with him for a
little bit, leave him a cigarette and go on.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Maybe that's why he likes you.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
I found him on accident. Uh. There used to be
one named serget Yeah, I found him. I have this
uncanny knack of finding the ones that don't want to
be found. I mean it, and it doesn't it doesn't
pay very well every once in a while. And the
(34:25):
one I found out he was a sergeant in the
Civil War, but I didn't know which side. He hated
me with a passion. And me and another guy were
sitting in there one night and we're in there, it's quiet,
(34:46):
and we're just sitting on the floor and I hear
I'm like, what I said, dude, you hear that? He
said here what I said, said copperhead? Yeah, wow, said
what's what's that? I said, that's me and I got
(35:12):
my I got my audio recorder out and I went
over and I said, okay, you know me, what's your what?
Tell me your name? And the EVP came back you
know me?
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
And I'm like, no, I don't know why I asked,
And we had a basically hate hate relationship. I never
told anybody about him for a long time. I kept
that one to myself. Yeah, and reason being, we get
(35:50):
people that say they can talk to spirit and all
that stuff, right, Yeah, so if I'm the only one
that it was about that one, I take him there.
Guy told me. This guy told me one night. He says, yeah,
my whole group, since it is and we can we
(36:11):
can feel and sense and talk. And I'm like okay.
And Miss Sue was there then, and that night we
were stationed on that floor and I took this guy
in there and I said, go over to that corner,
(36:33):
tell me what you get. He stood there and he
was rubbing his chin and nodded me his head. He'd
look up at me. He says, yep, he said, he
hates you. I'm like, okay. He said, he thinks you're
(36:56):
the reason he's here. I'm like what he said, you
remind him or you look like the person that put
him in here. Oh, And I'm like okay. He said
he's a sergeant, he was a sergeant for the Union Army.
(37:17):
And he says he's got he's got dementia. And you're
never going to convince him. You're not the one and
he told me, he said, be careful, he's going to
hurt you. Yeah, and I'm like, okay, Well I never
really believed all the TV stuff. Yeah, you know that
(37:39):
you could get scratched or punched or whatever. Yeah, until
that night. Yeah, me and that guy was walking out
and Miss Sue and one of the ladies that was
in his group. I went through a room and they
(37:59):
were coming to on the hallway. So there's a wall
between the two of them. There's no way they could
have spoke or anything. Yeah, Sue goes into the cafeteria
with this lady and she goes over into that corner. Immediately,
she says, what's up in that corner? Well, Sue doesn't know,
and she's like, I don't know. So she said the
(38:23):
lady went over in the corner and was rocking back
and forth and scratching herself and just she said, oh
my gosh. She says, I thought she'd lost her mind.
She says, I thought I was gonna have to come
get you. And she's sitting there and then all of
a sudden, said she just went straight and looked right
at her and said, you tell that guy with the
long hair to stay out of here. He's going to
(38:45):
kill him. Wow. And so she came and told me
all this, and I'm like, interesting, well, we're station down there.
There's no way around it. I have to go in there.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, there's no other choice.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
And I went in and two of the people that
were taking the groups back and forth were standing there
with me. And you know what it feels like when somebody,
you know, the air nozzle that's put on an air
hose and you push the button and it blows. Yeah, okay.
(39:20):
It felt like somebody did that in my face.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Oh and my.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Hair went and it was a little longer. Then it
hit both of those two guys in the face and
they turned and looked at me, and I doubled over.
It felt like somebody punched me with everything they had.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
And it felt like electricity went through me. But I'm
gonna chalk that up. It was probably adrenaline.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
Yeah, yeah, fair.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
But I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk. I mean, it
hit me hard. And they they took me out into
another room. They said, you're okay, and I shook my
head no, and they walked me out of there and
they got in another room. I'm standing in there. It
(40:11):
took me about ten minutes to get where I could
talk and breathe.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Wow, it just like full on knocked the wind.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Out of you.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Oh yeah, he drilled me and I told him, I said,
get everybody out. They said what I said, take everybody
up toward four in word one. They said, what are
you going to do? I said, me and him is
going to have to talk. My temper took over and
(40:43):
they got everybody out. They took him up to word
four and that's where Lily's room is, so a lot
of them went in there. And I shut the door
to the cafeteria and I got loose, and I said,
you can hit me when I looking. I said, I'm looking,
Now do it again in Oh. I was mad, and
(41:04):
nothing happened.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
He just backed down. At that point, I guess.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Well, they probably used all the dang energy let me
have it the first time.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
But anyway, I never did get anything that bad again. Yeah,
that was the one. That was the one and only
time that he really let me have it. He would
make me feel so uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
Did you still see him after that?
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Or I did for a while, But when I came back,
I walked. I walked the building by myself so I
could get to feel for it. And I got to
the cafeteria and look at that door, and I'm thinking,
oh crap, So I just walked in nothing hmmm. I
(41:52):
mean it was just like walking into my house. I'm
like what. Yeah. Well, then I come to find out.
The way I found out exactly who he was is
they had a they had a cemetery room at one
time as a museum room, and I was being led
(42:12):
and drawn to that room for some reason that day.
And I went in there and I turned and I
walked in and it was like something told me to
look at the wall. And I turned and looked at
the wall, and there it was Jasper Wyatt.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
He was a sergeant in the Union Army. Died of dementia.
It was all laid out right there.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
I actually ended up getting into his name and everything.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Yeah, And I was like, you gotta be kidding me.
So I made a beeline under the cafeteria and I
kind of screwed up. I didn't think about it when
I did it. Yeah, I said, sergeant Jasper White front
and center. That was stupid, Yeah, but it confirmed it. Yeah. Well,
(43:13):
then I don't know exactly who came. I don't know
if it was military or a history group or something
found out about him and found his plot out in
the graveyard out back, and they put a Civil War headstone.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
Oh that's cool.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Serge isn't in the cafeteria anymore.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
Yeah, so maybe that's I mean.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Maybe that's all he needed it. Putting it put him
at pieces what I'm thinking, Yeah, that sounds right. I'm
not running to him since and yeah, it's kind of
sad and kind of not.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Yeah. Well, you know, it's good he's at peace, but
in some ways, you know, you kind of miss seeing
him even if he did.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Smack.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
Oh yeah, And I know people think I'm nuts. I've
had the Here's here's the absolute craziest one. This is
the absolute craziest one. Yeah. My son was a guide
and he had two separate groups in his group that
(44:24):
night and they weren't getting along. And he messaged me
and said, can you can you come help me? He said,
bring my other group. He said we'd get some really
good stuff in the in the ah back in the kitchen.
I said, okay, So I found him and I told
(44:45):
him we went in there. Well, he was wearing my
I've got a navy pea coat. It's a true navy
pea coat. We got it at a I got it
at a good will. And uh, anyway, he's wearing my
pea coat. Well he got scratched. Oh they did. They
(45:07):
didn't like him wearing my pea coat.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Oh were they just used to you wearing it?
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I guess yeah. And I had a I bought a
new task audio recorder and I had pet headphones on
listening real time. And it was time to go to
leave and go home. And he's putting his stuff up
the group leaving, and I walked there's some bathrooms in
(45:34):
the back of that and I walked to that doorway
and I stuck the audio recorder through there, and I said, well,
I hope you said something in this red light the
most I don't even know really how to describe it.
The only way I can describe it is, have you
ever heard of a gig when it's really mad? That's cool? Yeah, okay,
(45:57):
that was the screen basically, And a shadow figure came
up out of the floor right in front of me
at the end of my hand where the audio recorder was,
and I jumped back. I said, Jesus God, and I'm
(46:21):
backing up, and Andrew turned it into Andrew turned it
into R rated because he said, what theff? And yeah,
and then it just disappeared, and you can hear my
group running away, well, his group running away. And he
looked at me and I said, get that. I said,
(46:41):
get that crap packed up. We got to get out
of here. And he's packing the stuff up and he
said what was I said, I have no idea, And
I still swear I bet that was Serge could be,
and I still to me, I think it was. Yeah,
(47:03):
And anyway, I told Andrew, I said, get your stuff,
get your stuff put up, and get out of here.
And I'm right behind you. Yeah, And I backed out.
I kept watching that and I'm thinking to myself later,
it's like a lot of good that. Did you know
(47:23):
it could have been walking right there beside me laughing
about it? Yeah? But yeah. And then fourth floor on tee,
This one was wild. I had a kid bringing a
glow in the dark dog ball and he rolled it
(47:49):
down the ward and it was sitting down there and
he said, can you move the ball? And it starts
moving after it stopped. Yeah, and I said, where did
you get that? He said Amazon, And so now I
own one. Yeah, and I'll light it up. I've got
(48:13):
a two thousand lumin flashlight and I'll light that sucker
up and then send it down the ward. And there
was a there's a screen that goes across the end
of the ward. There's a fan and there's a screen
that goes over it. Well, the screen was off and
sitting up against the wall for some reason that night,
(48:35):
and I rolled the ball down and it's moving around
and it stops and we're all sitting there watching and
I said, can you can you move the ball for us?
It starts moving around my whole group. There's twelve of
us total up there, and the one lady said, it's
(48:58):
off the floor. Oh, and I'm like what And I
looked and it was off the floor like somebody moving
around with it.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
And this one guy was videoing. You can't you can't
tell it on the video because he's shaken too bad.
I picked up and I said, well, why you got
it up, throw it back down here. So I'm not
going to walk down and get it. And so far
they've never thrown it back yet.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
Yeah, hopefully but we.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Went down and it got up back down, and it
moved away from us, from us, you know, towards the wall,
away from us, and then it just stopped. And I said, well,
I guess you're done, and this guy says, I'll walk
down with you. So we walked down there and I
(49:53):
went to get the ball and it is behind the screen.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
Oh so it like phased.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
Through and there's no way that it could have rolled
and went behind it. It had to be set down
over the screen. And we were all like, oh my gosh. Yeah,
but it's been it's been picked up. It's been picked up,
(50:22):
I think three times and rolled around. There was one
night I rolled it down the ward and it was
about a foot and a half off the right side
walls and doors. It was I mean I sent it.
It was moving pretty good. Yeah, and all of a
(50:46):
sudden you hear it like it hit something. And it
immediately hit a ninety and went across the ward and
hit the other wall and then it endballed off the
walls all the way down after that. Yeah, And I
turned on my light and there was nothing it could
have hit. There was nothing. It was like somebody kicked it. Yeah,
(51:11):
and it just shot straight across the ward and my
whole group they about got up and ran away. When
that happened, I started laughing, mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
But it's creepy that having a glow in the dark
ball for that is really genius.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Well, I never dreamed about that kind of stuff, you
know what I mean. Yeah, and everybody buys all these
expensive things.
Speaker 6 (51:38):
And yeah, me nine, I've got a I've got two
K two's, I just got a rampod in an S box.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
I've got a spirit box and a speaker. And then
I bought at Lows. They're like the stick on lights
for nighttime in motion lights. I about two of them
at Load's for like eighteen bucks. Yeah, and I'll set them.
(52:13):
I'll set them things up and I've had them turn on.
I'll ask them. I'll hear footsteps out in the ward
or something, and I'll say, well, come on in. Yeah,
and everybody's in the room. The lights outside of the
room where it's not where nobody can make it go off,
(52:34):
and it turn on. Yeah, and everybody always freaks out
when it happens. Yeah, that's creepy, but I use I
use them a lot.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Yeah, I know that anytime you can find good cheap
equipment like that is always always great.
Speaker 5 (52:55):
Yeah, I mean, I like all the fancy stuff. But
I've got this rimpod. It's not went off for me yet.
It's never went off.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
That's I feel like that's how it goes.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
Though.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
If you spend time or money on it, it never works.
But if you find well, I got it works just fun.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
I got a good deal on it. I got it
in the s box off of the lady for a
hund box for both of them. And the s box,
I can't get anything out of it, and I can't
get anything out of the dead gum and me. I've
(53:41):
been in construction too long, so a spirit box and
that s box. It's hard for me to hear.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
Yeah, yeah, I usually.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
I usually record it and then let my kids listen
to it.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
I feel like kids and kind of hear things. We
can't always anyway.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Oh that scream that night, that scream happened. Usually if
you hear it with your ears, you don't pick it
up on audio. I got it.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Oh wow, that's amazing.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
I got it, and I need to get it post on.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Yeah, no, I would. I would love to take a
look at that.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
And then oh, man, like I said, there's just so
much stuff that happen. Yeah, over the years and just
recently out back in the back buildings. Did you watch
Josh Gates and them when they came.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
No, I haven't watched that one yet. I've got a
bunch of them queued up. I kind of like going
into it, you know, a little bit blind where I'm like,
I want to watch it afterwards. It doesn't sway my opinion.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, they were talking about a scream and
I'd never heard it, and Zach was out back. He
was in medical, I was in geriatrics. Jets was up
(55:22):
in forensics, and I heard a big loud bang downstairs.
So I told my group, I'm gonna go see if
something fell over something, you know. And so I went
down to the bottom of geriatric and it was summertime.
It was so hot in that thing. I thought, I'm
(55:42):
gonna step outside of you get some are well, I'm
down here. I stepped outside. No more. Did I step
outside in this blood curdling scream like a woman was
being murdered. That's what it sounded like. Wow, And I've
(56:03):
got that big I carried that big flashlight with me
for emergencies. Yeah, and I kicked that sucker on and
I'm looking up in front of Medical. I'm looking in
front of geriatrics. It sounded like it happened right there.
And I'm looking down towards the building, the main building,
and I can't find anything. Now, I thought, oh my gosh,
(56:25):
I'm w us my group. So I ran back inside. Yeah, well,
Zach is in the basement or out the basement, first
floor Medical, and he ran up the ramp check on
his group. Yeah, well, my group said, no, man, it
came from outside. It came from outside. So I went
back down to figure it out. And as I'm coming
(56:47):
out the door of Geriatrics, Zack's coming out the door
of Medical. He looked at me and he goes, dude,
are you okay. I'm like, there wasn't me. I said,
that was not me. And he told me it came
(57:07):
right down the ramp and he was down close to
the ramp and he said, oh my gosh, you could
have heard how loud it was. I said, you should
have heard it out of here. Yeah, there's a lady
on the third floor of Medical that screams and we're
looking around for what what happened. I mean, we're checking
(57:28):
everything now, it's about time to change buildings and we're
getting ready to go into medical. And some of that's
group says we've got something to show you, and they
have it on video. They were doing a question yeah,
(57:52):
and they said can you do this? And they were
asking questions and stuff, and they said, we'd love to
hear that.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
It wasn't ten seconds after they said that, and I
looked at it. I liked that, and I joked on him.
I said, so you caused me that run all over
every way? Yep, but it was. It was. It's awesome,
I mean, and to hear it, you'll never forget.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
It, yeah, I mean and blood curt.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Yeah, and after all these years, I've never heard it
until now.
Speaker 3 (58:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
I'd heard other people say, yeah, we've heard that scream
out there. And then we were in the main building
one night and we were on word six and we
heard a woman's scream and I'm like, that just came
from Medical. I guarantee you and nobody's out there.
Speaker 3 (59:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
But and I forget that, I forget the room number
that it is, but I can walk it right to it.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
Yeah, and you know how to walk there with no
lights on, but hard to remember the number. Yeah, yeah,
I see on the website right now. There's a renovations
going on right now.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Yeah, they're working on they're working on some different areas.
All the center sections have been fully restored, and they're
working on some other areas, just like patching walls and
stuff like that. I don't know, I think, I don't
(59:50):
know if they're going down d they've got all of
ward A done.
Speaker 4 (59:55):
You are listening to strange sixteen sixteen in north Side
and ninehd W Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
I don't, I don't know. Yeah, I was all over
that building that night, but I wasn't paying attention for renovations. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Are you still doing ghost tours even during the renovations?
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
Oh yeah, oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
I wasn't sure that affected your hours or just the
It looks like it's mostly the history section.
Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Twelve months out of the year, were there?
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
Yeah, amazing, And.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
I know people don't believe me that there was one
night I was a guide. My wife was managing that night.
It was nineteen below in the building, nineteen below zero
in the building, and it was absolutely miserable, but we
(01:00:59):
had activity.
Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
I was I went down one night I was. I
was guiding and managing, so it was a private, just
a two hour tour, and I was gonna just I
just went down to do it, and it was sixtygrees
below zero outside, and I was sweeping off the porch
(01:01:32):
and everything because it snowed, and I was getting it
where everybody could get up in there easy. Yeah. I
waited there for an hour and nobody showed up.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
I called.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I called one of the other managers at the time.
When I said, I'm going home, and I locked it
up and went to the house. They never did show up.
Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
I guess it was just too cold.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
Yeah, And last weekend, I mean, it's it's warming up outside,
but the inside, the inside of that building is still
brutally cold because the walls are two feet thick. So
when it warms up outside, it pushes the cold inside
(01:02:23):
and it has to warm through the walls and the
warm the interior up, and oh my gosh, it gets
it doesn't warm up. It doesn't warm up till depending
on depending on the spring, sometimes it'll warm up about
the middle of May, and sometimes it doesn't warm up
(01:02:47):
till first of June.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
It takes a long time to get through the yeah,
walls and warm everything.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
Yeah, it's gotta stay warm at night too.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
I guess you probably don't feel a lot of cold
spots in there. Then if it's.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Not when it's that cold, you don't. I'm hoping to
be hotspots.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
You're always like, please come on, give me one. I
just need to warm up a little bit. Well, we're
hitting the top of the hour here. Is there anything
else you want to tell people about the asylum before
we have to sign off?
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
October is the Flashlight Tours and it starts the weekend
before so September, the last weekend of September through the
first weekend in November. And we've got three new flashlight
tours this year, different routes.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Oh cool. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Then we've got the Haunted House and it's rated one
of the best, and it is actually in the Tuberculosis Building.
That's cool, in the old TV building and it's all
four floors.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
And then the flash Slight Tours, and you can't buy
tickets I don't think after eleven flashlight tours because we
start the overnight at midnight. Yeah, and oh come see us. Yeah,
(01:04:27):
I mean we're if you're into it. We've got people
that's come from all over I know I've had I've
had people from Scotland and my group. There's been England, Australia,
I forget where all they've come from, all over the world.
(01:04:50):
It's it's two and forty two thousand square feet.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
Wow, it's massive.
Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
It's a second it's a second largest handcut stone building
in the world, second second to the Kremlin in Moscow.
So it's just massive, it is. And they do the
outer buildings medical, geriatric, and forensics, and the main building
(01:05:21):
during October, gotcha, and then they do the three outer
buildings certain times through the year. I can't I don't
know exactly. Yeah, you just have to keep an eye
out for them on the website. Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
Well, I'm already talking to my friends about going out
there because I've I've wanted to see out there for
a while and we really go out to MOTHMANIFESTIV every year,
and I'm like, we should swing by here too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Yeah yeah, and make sure you request me. Yeah, oh absolutely,
I'll throw I'll throw that little plug in there. But yeah,
I've got it's. It very seldom disappoints, and I always
(01:06:11):
tell everybody if it's a quiet night.
Speaker 3 (01:06:14):
Check your audio, yeah, because sometimes it just means you're
not hearing it right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
Then, uh huh? Or if I mean we've had nights
that everybody thinks nothing happened, and I tell him, check
your audio, and usually you get quite a bed. Yeah,
And I just got that was another one. I went
in a Jaine's room last weekend and I said, Kayley
(01:06:41):
told me to tell you how. That's my daughter. She's
a daytime paranormal and history guide. And I said, do
you know Kayley? And the EVP came back in a
woman's voice, very loud, echoed in the room with me. No. So,
(01:07:05):
and I didn't think anything was going on, you know,
but I always used my dashing rods and set up
I set up my recorder. That's my go to.
Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
Yeah, yeah, it's amazing. What did your daughter have to
say about that?
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
Oh? I sent it to her that night and I said,
did you hear it? She says yes with a bunch
of exclamation marks. Behind me.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
She was just trying to say him.
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
But everybody used the trigger throughout the building. They'd throw
my name out, so I figured I'd see if they
knew my daughter.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
And then well, just about the whole family works down
there and during.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Off cob Yeah, well, busy time of year.
Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
A bunch of my kids have worked at work the
Haunted House, and I always tell everybody to watch out
because they're they're brutal.
Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
Well, they're probably aiming for you, especially when you when
you go through there.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
They can try. Then, the haunted the Haunted House stuff
doesn't really bother me when you're used to walking the
other building. Yeah, you know, jump scares every once in
a while, you might get startled a little bit, and
(01:08:42):
I tell them, hey, good job. When you're in the
main building and you have the real thing happen, it's like,
oh crap.
Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
Yeah, it's a little bit more scary.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
It's a little more real then.
Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
Yeah, Well, thank you so much for talking with me.
This is This has been great. You've got so so
many good stories from there.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
That's that's just from there. I've been to a bunch
of different places.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Well, we'll have to get you back on to talk
about some of the other places too.
Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Okay, Yeah, that sounds good to me. Yeah. Moundsville. Moundsville
is my second yeah, yeah, West virgin State Penitentiary. Yeah,
that's my that's my other.
Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
Your other haunt, I guess yep, my favorite place, my
other favorite place to go.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
I should say, awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
We'll definitely have to talk about that, and I will.
I'll keep checking your YouTube page to see when you
get around to uploading your other stuff as well.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
Yeah. I need to make myself get after that. I
just saw meme today about that. Yeah. It says me
going to do my.
Speaker 7 (01:10:08):
Uh, going to do my evidence review, he says, my ADHD,
And it's got this little guy dancing walking away from it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
That's me.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Yeah, yeah, I feel that. That's why Cal is in
charge of emailing now is I'm always like, I need
to email this person back and then it's gone the
minute I think that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
So no, I understand fully.
Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
Oh you're good. Well we're gonna go ahead and sign off,
so good night and good luck
