Le origini dell'Avvento sono incerte e le notizie che abbiamo sono poche. La parola Avvento deriva dal latino "adventus" e significa "venuta" anche se, nell'accezione più diffusa, viene indicato come "attesa". Ci sono due livelli che confluiscono nello stesso periodo. Bisogna distinguere tra Avvento come periodo di preparazione al #Natale, e quindi alla nascita di #Gesù; e Avvento che celebra il ritorno glorioso di #Cristo, cioè l'Avvento escatologico.
