nine. The Game So in today'sepisode of the Bucks Report, we talk
about what do the Buccaneers have todo to pick up the dub Sunday against
the Titans. Winning something that haseluded this team for the longest time is
something that they're going to have tofigure out how to do again. If
(01:46):
this team has any plans of doinganything. Listen, there are already a
lot of insiders with inside the NFLand the Bucks talking about how this season
is already over, even though thego to Tom Brady said that it's never
really that important until after Thanksgiving.I'm gonna go ahead and say, if
the Bucks drop this game against theTitans, you might want to go ahead
(02:08):
and push the panic button. Ialso wouldn't be surprised if they make the
flip for Kyle Trask. I knowwhat people are gonna say, are you
kidding me? Baker Mayfield? Iget that. I ultimately think that Baker
Mayfield gives the Buccaneers the best chanceat winning. But sometimes, like if
you're a hockey fan, when theyswitch the goalie it's all about changing momentum.
(02:30):
Do you think it's possible that theBuccaneers could change quarterbacks just to attempt
to change momentum and ultimately see whatthey have in Kyle Trask on the big
stage. Let's face it, ifthis team does not make any push for
the playoffs, or even if theydo, Baker Mayfield as a Buck next
(02:51):
season is a big question mark.So to a certain extent, I think
it would almost be worth looking atif they lose yet another game. Again,
I really hope that's not the case. But the Buccaneers, if they
do pick up the win, they'regoing to have to do it with some
injured players. Todd Bowle says JoshHayes concussion is out for Sunday and Matt
(03:13):
Feiler knee is doubtful. Jamel Deanhas a few more steps to clear the
concussion protocol in time for the game, and Carlton Davis tow to a turf
toe will be a game time decision. And listen, Carlton Davis is coming
off one of his worst games,if not the worst game in his career.
This is the same guy that saidI could be or I am the
(03:35):
best cornerback in all of the NFL. Well in a league of what have
you done for me lately? Thatis definitely not the case. So what
is it about the Buccaneers? Whatchanged during the bye week that made it
that they don't know how to winfootball games anymore? I just I don't
get it as a Bucks fan.Honestly, they started the season a lot
(03:57):
better than I think that anyone elsehad thought. You know, everyone said
Dave Canalis came here, he's abig question mark. But when he first
came here, the first few games, I would say, the games up
to the bye week, the Buccaneerswere playing pretty darn good football, and
you know we were already talking about, you know, Dave Canalis might be
leaving here to take a job withthe Bears. He was doing that good
(04:19):
and Baker Mayfield was being anointed asone of these big underdogs. But that
all the rug got pulled out fromthat notion after the bye week, as
this team has not figured out howto get in the win column since then,
So what do they have to do? And just taking a look back
at the game against the Texans, what a deplorable mess it was within their
(04:41):
grip and you know, to allthe people that said, well it's Baker
Mayfield, Baker Mayfield sucked, maybethey're not a fan of the score sheet.
Because the Bucks put up some bignumbers and yet they still found a
way to lose the game. Sothe defense, of course, is at
least, you know, partially responsible. Some people have said, well,
Dan, sure they got a lotof points in this last game, but
(05:02):
they didn't before that. I getall that, But with that said,
they need to figure it out forquarterback, for defense, it's the whole
package. With forty nine seconds leftat the Texans on Sunday and trailing thirty
three to thirty, the Bucks wereable to do something they hadn't done all
season, take the lead in thefinal two minutes of the game. And
(05:23):
watching the game, I was sohyped. I was so positive that finally
they're going to get off the schneidand win a football game. What a
novel thought, right, winning afootball game. This is the team that's
coming off the Tom Brady years andhas struggled. I know that they struggled
the last season with Brady at thehelm, but to start the season there
was so much hope. Quarterback BakerMayfield delivered a fourteen yard strike over the
(05:46):
middle to tight end kdott And,who spiked the football and scored flash thirty
six to thirty three on the videoboard before kicker Chase McLaughlin's point after attempt
made it thirty seven to thirty three. There was absolutely no reason that the
Buccaneers should not have won the game. We did everything we could in that
(06:09):
time period, just trying to supportour guys, Mayfield said. But elation
quickly turned to anguish despite the Bucksscoring the most points they had all season,
and there were points at the endof the season where Baker Mayfield had
his hand his head in his handsand kind of just like in disbelief,
like, what the f just happenedout there? I did my part.
(06:31):
Carlton Davis, the guy that saysI'm the best corner in the league at
one point, Really, that's thebest corner in the league. I would
hate to see what the worst is. Rookie quarterback CJ. Stroud carved up
the soft zone defense and led theTexans down the field before finding Tank Dell
in the end zone four a fourteenyard touchdown with six seconds remaining. Todd
(06:54):
Bowles says it's a devastating loss afterthe game, no doubt about it.
We've got to earn it. We'vegot to eat the loss. All of
us feel the same way, especiallyme. I've been coaching a long time.
I haven't been involved in too manyof these where it's been back and
forth like that came down at theother end. We should be pissed off
all week. This piece in ESPNand the Box were pissed off. But
(07:16):
they need to own some of thatfeeling of like we fed up. You
know, Todd Bowles, if youlisten to him in these interviews, he's
just always very you know, hedoesn't want to take any of the blame,
very lasi daisical in saying, well, you know, we got to
work better on communications. We gotto work better on communications. This is
(07:38):
a team that needs to work oncommunication. This for the most part,
is a lot of the same playersthat want a Super Bowl. So to
say it's communications or any kind ofcop out excuse doesn't hold water with me.
I think that, you know, part of it is is do they
not like playing for Todd Bowles? Is he this lame duck head coach?
I think the stink of failures allready in the air, and it's something
(08:01):
that permeates, and you can putall the vasoline you want under your nose,
it's not going to erase the stinkof defeat. And that's what this
team is right now. They're defeated. They have forgot how to win football
games. And you know, apart of playing professional sports is about putting
butts in seats. You can putbutts in seats with a winning product.
(08:22):
In order to have a successful businessplan for your team, you need to
win games, which means fans inthe stands, means that they're eating their
hot dogs and drinking their Miller HighLife. That is what you need to
have a winning product. If thisBucks team continues to lose football games and
say, you know, they don'teven make it to the playoffs period,
then this is going to be likethe old Bucks, the Creamsicle era,
(08:43):
where there was not a lot offans in the stands, and then there's
not going to be a lot ofmoney to go around, and it's just
this BS snowball rolling downhill. They'vegot to find a way to win games.
And ultimately, you know, I'veheard one hundred and one excuses about
why they didn't win the game. You know, seeing is believing we can
win football games. I hear,I want to see it. Otherwise you're
(09:05):
going to see the likes of LevanteDavid Gone, you know, and it's
gonna You're gonna see Devin White gone, you know. And then what is
that going to mean for players likeAntwine Winfield Junior, who gives his one
hundred percent effort each in every game. Is he going to want to stick
around on a team that is kindof just nailing it in? I hate
to say, tough questions for theBuccaneers to answer, and I'll talk about
(09:30):

(11:28):
back into this edition of the BucksReport podcast, part of the Bucks Report.
Check them out online Bucks Report dotcom. So the Buccaneers take on
the Titans this Sunday, and we'rehoping for a win. But to be
honest with you, I'm not toohopeful. I went into the last game
hopeful. I went into the gamebefore that hopeful that they've got to win
a game. Now they can't keeplosing. I want someone out there,
(11:52):
hit me up on Twitter at DanCaps two and eight or at Bucks Minute
Cast, and give me one reasonwhy you think the Bucks are going to
win Sunday. I can think ofno reason. Nothing's changed. If anything,
is the case, They've gotten worse. More players are out of the
lineup. You know, as badas a cornerback Davis is, as bad
(12:13):
as cornerback Jamel Dean is what theyhave behind door number two is in any
better. So it is a toughquestion for the Bucks about how to win
this game. One thing I knowfor sure, for sure is that if
the Buccaneers don't make it to theplayoffs, this is going to be the
end of the tenure of Todd Bowlesfor the Buccaneers. If it is not,
(12:35):
for some reason, then I'm kindof, you know, really not
being too hopeful for this franchise.I'm going to start questioning the decision makers.
And you know what I'm talking abouthere, I'm talking about Jason lt
I'm talking about the Glazers, isthat maybe this team is facing a total
rebuild. And I know I've hearddifferent podcasters out there talk about do you
(12:56):
know what a rebuild means? Well, I do because I cover the Nationals
and I cover the Capitals, andthose are two teams that are facing rebuilds
themselves. I know that it isnot a proven concept. I understand that
it's not going to mean winning gamesright away. But you know, this
team was the blip on the radar, was the Tom Brady years. It
was kind of you know, youtake a look at the Jamis Winston years
(13:18):
for example, kind of mit lackluster. And then Brady came here, and
you know, this team shot tothe sky and then now that after he's
gone, it's kind of settling backdown to reality, the old Buccaneers,
and I don't want that for thisteam. I want nothing but for success.
But they've got to find a wayto win against the Titans. Make
no mistake about it. Losing isnot an option. And I know some
(13:43):
people say that the season's not overtill you're mathematically eliminated. I'm here to
tell you right now as I recordthis Saturday afternoon at three o'clock local,
that if they lose the game tomorrow, it's over this team. Unless Kyle
Trask came in there and was justa superman and had an S on his
chest. I do not think thatthey have what it takes intrinsically to know
(14:05):
how to win games. So itis going to be a tough game for
the Bus to pick up the win. Can they do that? That is
what we're hoping for. Listen,I want to thank you for joining me
on this edition of the Bucks Report, and I'll talk to you again next time.
