Did you know our ancestors, the hunter/gatherers, had a work week of just 20 hours. Yes, they worked only 20 hours a week.

When you consider all of our ancestors going way back that means we all did that for literally millions of years. That is how our bodies were meant to function.

Have you wondered why you feel tired most of the time?

It isn't because the body is physically exhausted. It's not like you're working the farm 16 hours a day, ploughing behind a horse.

We are exhausted from distraction!

We are bombarded with all sorts of things vying for our attention. And all of those things claim to be important.

Yep that next meme on Facebook is going to be the thing I have been waiting for all my life. "Damn! Another cute cat picture."

I can't emphasize enough that unplugging from all of this is absolutely essential for our mental, emotional and even spiritual health.

Considering that:

Stress is a contributing factor to pretty much every physical illness and
Constant distraction and multitasking is a known, severe stressor

It stands to reason that we must UNPLUG! But how?
Before we can talk about how we must become convinced that we must. That it is not a luxury but an absolute necessity.

That is what Lisa and I will be discussing on the next OM School Live.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
