excited because I've been wanting to do this since season one.
Kim Purvis and Alison Robinson have a podcast run a
podcast called The Rep Paranormal. So I wanted to talk
(02:21):
to them about being paranormal investigators and what that means,
and then we'll get to their podcasts and we'll get
a little get to know a little bit about them.
So welcome Kim and Allison to the Healing Late podcast.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Hello, thanks for having us.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Oh happy too. I'm very excited. So what I what
I was curious about?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
First?
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I wanted to talk about both of you and your
connection to the paranormal. So Kim or Allison whoever wants
to start, why don't you kind of introduce yourself and
talk about your background in terms of your paranormal experience
as well as your podcast. And now I want to
(03:11):
know like how you two came together as well.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Okay, yeah, Kim's pointing at me. She wants me to
go first. Well, basically, I've known Kim literally my whole
entire life.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Her and her mom used to actually babysit me, and
then they babysat my children. So I now live next
door to Kim.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
And for the paranormal part for me starting, you know
a lot of people have this experience when they're young,
and I was pretty young, and I remember in my
room saying like a little like I had a tall,
dark shadow figure that would stand by my bed, and
(04:03):
I was scared, you know. And you know most kids,
you know, when they're little, they're scared of the dark.
And after a while, my mom said that she would
remember me in there laughing talking to somebody. Sometimes it
sounded like I was talking in like tongue or like
a different language, like it was very weird to her.
(04:26):
And I'd be in there and I'd just be I'd
be up, like I was up just having a conversation
with whatever it was. And then by about fifth grade
or so, fifth sixth grade, another one appeared that was smaller,
and finally I'm like, Okay, what do you guys want
from me? Because they wake me up, you know, the night,
(04:47):
and I'm like, okay, what do you want? Just leave
me alone, you know, let me be. And I didn't
think much of it. And then Kim and I played softball,
slow pitch softball together and there were some other gals
on our team, and one night after a game, we
were all talking about the Meliska Axe Murderhouse in Melliska, Iowa, like,
(05:10):
you know, we should we should go and see what
this is all about. We're like, okay, let's do this
and see. So we went out and bought these really
cheap recorders. I had an old camcorder that has the
cassette tape that night and that's what we took. And
(05:32):
after that, I was like, okay, we need to go
to some other places because after listening to some of
our things and the experiences we had, We're like, why
are we having these experiences? What could it be? I
just you know, we were more and more intrigued by
why we're getting these responses, especially voices that weren't ours,
answering our questions, you know. So that's how it was
(05:57):
for me, Kim, do you want to mine?
Speaker 5 (06:00):
All started with dreams my niece is killing a car accident,
and in my dreams it's like I was sitting over
them and I could.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Hear the whole conversation, wow, and everything.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
So that got me intrigued. It then I started watching
Ghost Hunters. Well that got me more and more interested.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
And then like.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Allison said, they were sitting.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
Around talking about it went to Melliska, I got scratched.
Well that got me more intrigued. Why are they picking
on me and not them?
Speaker 5 (06:37):
So I wanted to go and keep continuing this until
I figured out what was going on.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
And plus with my drinks, I'm still having drinks, like
Malburn comes. Susie in Melbourne keeps coming and visited me
in threes, but she's not happy there, and then she disappears.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
It's like, do.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You want to give her a background? Susie? And who
Susy is?
Speaker 5 (07:12):
I think?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
But she had child, okay, cowering books and everything in.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Her room and I connected with her.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
Mm hmm, and like, yeah, we kind of have a
strong connection to Malbourne.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
I've I've actually brought something home from there.
Speaker 8 (07:55):
Oh wow, yeah, but that's a whole nother but I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
We're so connected to that place. But they're so.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, because I think I think you know, it just
sounds very similar. I know for me, I've told you
this before when I was a guest, and that I
started when I was little and I actually had a family,
I had two little boys, and uh, then I would
(08:35):
I have dreams and I still have dreams where you know,
I will all dream something and it comes true. I've
actually channeled a couple of people, so I'd like to
explore that. So, yeah, it gets you. And when you
when you have that gift and you tap in in
(08:56):
my it's my feeling in a good way that you
kind of open up poor you open that door to
allow those those spirits to come to you because they
all want to talk, they all have something something to say.
So I would absolutely say that. So when it comes
to you have to forget because I'm kind of ignorant
(09:18):
about this stuff. I know, I know what psychics are,
I know what astrologists are, mediums, But when it comes
to like paranormal investigations or the paranormal, what what does
that exactly mean?
Speaker 3 (09:37):
It's just for us. I mean, there's there's a whole
bunch of people that are in the parimal some are skeptics.
Some are there to collect more data using science approaches
to figure out what's going on. There's like a whole
broad spectrum for the paranormals fun uh huh, right right,
(10:04):
and for us you know, I do, I mean I
do sometimes hear them like they might say like a
word to me, or I'll have like flashes images of
like stuff they're trying to show me, okay, which which
helps out in investigation too. I just take it as
a grain salt. But you know, there are some mediums
(10:27):
that come and they make it more information. So there's
like just a big broad spectrum. And there's so many people,
different people in this trying to all come together to
figure out why why do spirits stay here? Why don't
they bond? M hm, you know why why not back?
(10:50):
Is it? Or if we're dealing with an intelligent spirit
or are we dealing with something that yeah, I can't
even talk residual. So something that's you know, happened in
that location and every time go there you might get
the same thing. It could be like a repeat thing.
You know, they don't give you like an intelligent response,
(11:12):
like if you ask do you know what season it is?
And it tells you spring and it's spring. It could
you could be dealing with some an actual spirit. So
that's why we're all in the paranormal. We're just trying
to figure out how does this work? Is there something
beyond when we pass? Like, is there really something there
(11:35):
that we could come back and connect with our loved ones?
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah, that's that's that's really cool. And you know, to
be honest, I mean, I don't it's a psychic medium.
I know a lot about the spirit world and our
spirit guides, but I even I have the question of
why do some come, you know, come over and communicate,
(12:00):
you know, how does that happen? Are they are they
stuck or are they just like like you said, maybe
coming back? Is are they finding another purpose? Are they designated? So?
H yeah, you know that's something. It just triggers me
that I want to think about that and and talk
to other people and find out, you know, get there there,
(12:23):
what they believe in it, because even myself I'd like
to know as well.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
You know.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
So so when you go on up here and only
you said that you were talking to a group of
your friends and you found this haunted place and you
just went there with some recorders. But now moving forward,
how do you find these places? Are you invited in
by people or do you Is it like a community
(12:51):
where you go to go to here, go to there?
Is that how it.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Works a lot of places we research or we've met
so many people and made so many connections in the
paranormal field that they will say, hey, you know, we
went to this location. Have you guys heard about it?
Maybe you should check this out. So it's like kind
of like a networking thing, like Okay, we kind of
(13:15):
figure out by word of mouth of different locations. Sometimes
we're invited to come to these locations. It's it's just
a whole slew of things, but like we're always looking.
Sometimes you get the information from watching shows on TV
mm hmm and things of that nature. And then you
can go on and a lot of them have websites
(13:36):
or whatever and you can pay to go stay alle
night in these locations to see. Okay, yeah, we're definitely not.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Cheap, I would say, so. Yeah. So in all the
places you've been, where have your travels taken you would?
I mean, where have you been?
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Oh, well, we've been, Well, we've been to Malvern more
than we can talk about our set home. Yeah, and
that's in Melbourne, Iowa, which is about a little over
three hours from us. We've been to Ferrar, which is
about thirty minutes from us, which is an old school.
They're trying to figure out, you know, why is this
place haunted? You know, there's no reports of deaths or
(14:18):
anything like that. Recently we started, I mean we were going.
We've been to Edinburgh Manor, which was a poor farm
turned into an asylum. We've been to the Granger House
in mary And Iowa that's now on the Historic Registry.
(14:39):
And we've been to Indiana. That's Missouri State Penitentiary. That
one's different, Cambrian, Illinois's that's actually one of our friends
on set location. And even if you're not into the paranormall,
(15:02):
I just want to say this, it is a beautiful
place to like rent out for any kind of venue.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
She does weddings and all kinds of expos and stuff.
It's just a beautiful little red house.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
It's by itself out there in nature. Is amazing. I
just have to put that out there.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah. Well, and I was gonna say it, Yeah, no
I interrupted you.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Sorry, No, you're okay, and we have some other locations.
We've been to Kansas, We've been to Mcinteervilla, which is
a very cool place. I love to get back there.
But we have some new spots that we're going to
be heading to here in the next few months. So
we're trying to broaden our horizons out of Iowa to
(15:51):
hit some other states.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
So, yeah, I I that place that you were talking
about that has a little red house. Send that information
when we're done here, because my fiance and I are
we love to travel and explore new places, so that
sounds like that would be right up our alley.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
That's like a whole thing there. And there's there's little
isn't there like a town there with little shops and
they have a little windery is there? Yeah? Yeah, it's
just a nice little area and that that house is
just out there in the middle of the woods. Kind
(16:29):
it's really nice, all right.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Good? So are there any places that you and him
have on your like your top five, your or your
number one? Are your your bucket lists, like your your
dream investigation? Where would that be?
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yes, we do want to head to Hensdale House. That's
kind of a jaunt for us.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
MM hm, New York.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Yeah, in New York. So a little bit of a
jount kid doesn't like to fly, so we have to
cry and I like crazy traffic.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, oh yeah, I was gonna ask you too. When
you we go out, like you have to have all
this like recording, I'm sure it gets very sophisticated. And
do you you know my questions, I just I seem
I think whenever I see shows about people doing paranormal investigations,
(17:39):
always seems that they they go at night. And I
don't if there's a reason for that or if it's
just for emphasis.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I think it is because we get sometimes our best
stuff while we're setting up it's still daylight out and
all this stuff is going on, and we're like we
should be our recorders going. At least we came because
we're getting all this stuff, you know. And so but
there's yeah, there's times where it doesn't matter. They're not
(18:11):
you know, spirits are there whenever, and they'll communicate, yeah
whenever they don't. It's not like, oh, well it's night time,
we need to come out and talk to the living.
You know. It's because everything's got gotcha?
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yeah, all right, yeah, I gotcha. That makes sense. So
I was wondering if, because I've I've thought about doing
this because and I have a psychic friend who's done this,
have you ever taken psychics with you psychic mediums, because
I I'd like to. I'd like to try that once
(18:49):
with the paranormal investigator.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
I really would. Oh yeah, that'd be cool. Yeah, I
mean we.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Have ta.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, okay, I see so uh huh.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
M hm mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Oh interesting, All right, that's very cool. All right, I'll
have to.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Oh yeah, some others that we've done, like like face
timed and things like that, or you know whatever, and
do like a walkthrough and then they'll kind of just
kind of tell us what they're feeling in these areas
or okay, strong sense of something. They're like, you know
(19:49):
there's something with this. Maybe you want to ask the
owner if they've heard this or whatever to validate and
and things of that. So, yeah, we have done it,
So yeah, all right, you should you should do it.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Yeah. Well, I think I think if I did the
virtual with the FaceTime at first, that would give me
a good introduction to it. But then I know for
sure i'd want to actually physically go there. So I'll
have to. I'll look the looker in my area in
southern New Hampshire or even Massachusetts to see there's gonna
(20:24):
be There's gotta be groups or someone I can connect with.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
So oh yeah, absolutely, there's gonna be a lot that way,
all right.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
And my final question is I wanted to know if
there was one investigation for you both that really stood
out more than like your your most profound one or
the scariest one or the happ whatever, what would be
your most memorable one?
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Would you say, I knew you're gonna go there. Everybody
talks about it. Do you want to talk about it?
You want to say it?
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Okay? Mm hm m hm.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
I already had this bad vibe about this, Dolls. I
didn't like it.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Mm hm wow.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Yeah, wow.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Mm hmm holy wow.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Yeah. I streamed really loud. We were Facebook on Facebook
Live and we have a bunch of people and they're like,
oh my god, that's what just happened.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Oh my god. Yeah, and shew.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Her legs were shattered, she had no more legs. The
next morning, kids proclue her legs back together. Yeah. Now
she sits in a case in Josh's office. She's been
blessed and everything, yeah and yeah and this. And the
(23:15):
thing is we were there this last fall and he's like, hey, guys,
got a surprise for you, not even more than me.
I didn't even turn the corner yet, and I'm like
getting this like block, like, oh this ain't good. There's
she was out of the case, sitting on a table.
He had tape marked right there to see if she
(23:35):
would move. He's like, I brought her out for you guys,
and I'm like, oh no. And so we're all in
the kitchen talking and he let us use some of
his equipment. So he has this redpot and that's I
think it makes no ways, so if something comes close
to it, it's gonna make noise, light up whatever. And
(23:56):
it looked like a little cigarette box. Okay, So we
set it next to her and we're all in the
kitchen talking and then we're like, oh my gosh, it's
going off. So we were trying to catch it on
video and we're like, okay, we got to get our
camera set up. So we're trying kids setting up cameras.
I'm sitting here holding the camera by the doll, and
(24:16):
this girl, Stephanie's right there, and she's talking to me,
and I'm like saying to the oh, this, this desk
is way too far for you to come off with
that at me. Now, you're not gonna be able to
do it. And all of a sudden she goes she
kind of half starts to move like this, and then
she just goes boom down. Wow. And the thing is
is that that rempod was sitting right there. When she
(24:38):
hit the rempod, it should have went off, it didn't.
And then after we set her back up, then the
rampod started going off.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Oh my, oh god.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
And then the cat balls we use these little catball things,
those were going off like crazy. Cheap work very well
for the paranormal. But wow, definitely something with that doll.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Yeah, absolutely, I would say so. Well, it's it's amazing.
So I definitely have an education now about paranormal and
what goes into it and how your your experiences and
how gifted you guys are. So I want to ask you,
how did the idea for the podcast come about? Yeah? Yeah,
(25:33):
mm hmm m.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Here we are five years later.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Wow, that's amazing. Yeah, I've been I've been listening to
your a lot of your episodes and you really have
a lot of great gifts. And you know from I
know from where I started my very first show, which
is like an introduction. I was so incredibly nervous. It
(26:19):
was only like fifteen minutes long. So where I am now, Yeah,
I feel that that I've grown and I've learned, and
you learn a lot. So when you think about where
you started versus where you are now, what have you
seen in terms of your growth and all that?
Speaker 3 (26:42):
I think quibit. I mean, I've always been a very shy,
quiet person, if you can believe that or not. And
so I asked to do this, and I'm like, oh
my gosh, I'm gonna have We're gonna have to ask
guests to be on our show, and then we're gonna
have to ask him questions, and I'm gonna have to
look at I'm on a camera like, oh my gosh,
(27:03):
you know, and then not knowing I'm not very tech savvy,
learning how to do my own show and everything, and
it was it was a lot. I think we've come
quite a ways because before a lot of times.
Speaker 10 (27:21):
We soed like robots and we just rolled with the
show instead of like mixing it. We're like we're just
going to roll with it and now, you know, we
try to take more time and make sure, like I said,
you know, the sound. We want to put out a
good show and we will make sure we give the
(27:42):
you know, the guests the shows that they deserve because
there are a lot of them are on here promoting
you know, their teens or their books or things like that.
We want to help them get their names out there
to help them as well. So we want to make
sure we have you know, good quality sound. And I
think we've come I'm better. Oh yeah, I mean, yeah,
(28:03):
we do.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
We still have room, absolutely everybody does, and we continue
to try to grow in that and broad and I
are horizons with our show and bring some dudes topics
and things, so we're not sounding so redundant since we've
been on for so long. So but you know, we
like to bring repeat guests on and things like that
(28:25):
because they always have new things coming.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
On and m yeah, yeah, very cool. So I mean
when I was looking at your shows, I mean you've
interviewed psychics, authors, psychic authors, healers, uh uh, and I
was listening to those and so with with that variety
(28:53):
of people, do you find that you prefer like one
topic over the other, or you just want to get
all the paranormal and spirituality people that you know that
you can can you learn about?
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Oh yeah, I like the broadenr horizons, more different topics
the better.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Yeah, we like to.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Talk about cryptids and UFOs and all that stuff too.
We don't have a whole lot of those on we
haven't for a while, and those are always kind of
interesting to hear people's thoughts and stories and their encounters
with those things. Yeah, but yeah, we like I mean,
we like to broaden our horizons. And you know, if
(29:38):
we if I get something and I look into it,
like okay, yeah, let's roll with it. It's something totally
different off the wall what we normally do. But you know,
I just like to give everybody a chance.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
So yeah, yeah, I like that. I like that a
whole lot too. And just like, like I asked you
with your paranormal in dcations, if you had to have one,
one guess like that would be your get Who would
you like to interview? M hm, I can tell you
(30:12):
mine you with yours, all right, So he's a well
known psychic. It's James von Prague. I'm sure you mustn't. Yeah,
I think if I could, if I could have him
(30:33):
on the show, my life would be completely No, I'm
sure there's lots of other psychics too, but I I
am like, I am fascinated by him. I know, I
didn't know that he teaches now and yeah, so yeah,
i'd love to. I love I love picking the brains
of people, and I think he's really fascinating. That's who
(30:57):
I would.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Want to have one.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Yeah, you know, I'll put it out to the universe
and if it happens, If it happens, it's it happens,
and it's meant to be. So yeah, so if oh,
one thing before you tell me your your your your
get that you want. I noticed too that you have
I've got guessed from the u K. And And and
(31:20):
so I was wondering if I think there's it seems
to me there's a lot a very large spiritual community
in the UK, a lot of people from that. So
I just didn't know if you were finding that as well,
or oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
We're we've got a lot of people over there that
we have met on our show, and you know, and
we seem to have a lot of listeners from the UK.
So shout out to.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
You everybody across the bond. Yeah. Yeah, So back to
putting me both, putting you both on the spot. So
is there anybody like what your dream get or yes?
Or do you not have one?
Speaker 3 (32:02):
R you go first? You don't have any I don't know.
That's a tough one.
Speaker 5 (32:12):
Consider investigations.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Oh that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah, you need someone who could channel. Yeah, get someone
who channels.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
Yeah, I'm a random channeler though, Like, I didn't ever
think of anything.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Yeah, it's not good.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, I don't know. That's a good question. I haven't
really thought of it. Oh. I mean there would be
some fun ones like Dustin Perry would be cool.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Kim used to watch him.
Speaker 8 (32:56):
Uh yeah, he's on all, you know, ghost shows and
things like that that you just wanted to.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Yeah, absolutely, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
I guess I haven't really thought of it. Like, you know,
we've had some people from TV on and things like
that and that's all cool and everything, but I guess
I've never really thought, like, man, I really got to
get this person on. Like, I don't know, I just
haven't really thought of it. So that's a good question.
I'm gonna have to think about it.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yeah, good thing. We talked to each other. Yeah, we
talk all the time. So all right, excellent. So in
terms of both your paranorimal work and your podcasting work,
what is your what does the future look like? What
are your plans, your goals, your aspirations.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
I don't know. I mean, yeah, I want to I
want to continue the show, maybe, you know, get some
other topic topics in there. I would love to be
able to have more time to actually dive into some
topics like real like research and everything. But that's too
hard with activities and all that other stuff going on.
But and you know, I'd like to get to a
(34:11):
couple places out of state, other like a little bit
farther like I don't know, I that would be fun
to be able to. I would like to go to
be able to go to like New Orleans. Oh yeah,
that's not really bad, you know, but that's like you'll
(34:33):
learn more about you know, their rituals, voodoo all that.
Like I want to learn it all. I kind of
broad mind horizon. I want to learn about the paranormal.
I want to expand into that, get more into research
for that. You know, we keep a notebook, but sometimes
we forget to write things down. So I want to
get better at doing that when we're on investigations, so
(34:54):
that way we can see if we have anything that
kind of maybe makes sense. We get too distracted by
everything that's going on and forget.
Speaker 10 (35:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Yeah, I can tell you from experience about writing things.
I wasn't writing stuff either, but recently i've been. I've
been journaling now for probably the past year, and then
I've meditated and kept a journal, but I recently started.
When I do sessions with folks, I have a little
(35:35):
notebook and I write stuff out that I'm getting that
I just can't get out fastness with my words. And
I think it's really interesting what you end up coming
up with. And I think sometimes you are divinely guided.
You think you're writing when actuality the person that you're
(35:56):
tapping into writing, and sometimes that you.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Just brought up a lot. I've had several authors on
that I've actually talked about that, like they feel like
all the information they're getting is like a download and
it's just like spewing out through them. Like I don't
know how I know all this stuff. You know, what's
got to be for the higher power, you know. Yeah,
we've had some of them on there, which is very interesting,
very deep.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Cool. So for both of you, if people want to
listen to your podcast or find you or be on
