In this first episode, I introduce The Intrepid Golden Podcast—a show dedicated to gym life, coaching, weightlifting, and the realities of owning a fitness business. I share my journey from the Marine Corps to opening Intrepid Strength and Conditioning in 2010, back when CrossFit was all about pushing limits and stepping outside your comfort zone.

This podcast is about more than just lifting weights—it’s about building strength, business, and a badass community. Tune in to hear what’s coming next, the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and how this show will bring real, unfiltered conversations about the fitness industry.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, guys, welcome to the Intrepid Golden Podcast. I'm
Ryan Hanson, owner of Trep's Trengthing Conditioning. I'm a weightlifting coach,
Jim owner, a Marine Corps veteran. This podcast is going
to be all about building strength, business and a badass
community with real talk, unfiltered stories and lessons learned from
the years and the trenches of gym ownership, coaching, weightlifting,

(00:23):
and all the rest. If you're a coach, an athlete,
a gym owner, or someone just loves pushing the limits,
this is the place for you. We're talking about the
grind of running a gym, the highs and lows of coaching,
the business side of fitness, and of course interviewing people
that help me along the way. Now, before we dive in,
let me take a second to introduce myself and what

(00:45):
you can expect from this podcast. So who am I?
For those who don't know me, I've been in the
fitness game for over a decade. July twenty ten, I
opened up Intrepid Strengthing Conditioning as a place for people
to get better, push their limits, and step outside of
their comfort zones. When we first started, that's what it
was all about hard work, intensity and challenge yourself to

(01:07):
do things you never thought possible before. All that I
served in the Marine Corps. That experience shapes everything I
do today carries into the way I coach and run
my business. Owning a gym isn't just about the sets
and reps. It's about leadership, resiliency and creating a space
where not only I can grow, but people can grow

(01:28):
physically and mentally. Right, and that's what this podcast is about.
Real behind the scenes look at what it takes to
build something from the ground up and keep it going.
So what can you expect from the Intrepid Golden Podcast, Well,
raw real talk about running a gym, coaching from the
business side to the training floor, deep dives into weightlifting,

(01:49):
strength training, coaching philosophies that actually work and have been
proven to work. Over the years, I've been in business
conversations with athletes, coaches, business owners who have been in
the trenches and know where to take succeed and lessons
learned from the failures successes. Because let's be real, you
don't get the view fifteen and the gym ownership without
a few battle scars, and most importantly, this podcast is

(02:11):
about the community, the people who show up, put in
the work, and push each other to be better every
single day. That's what Intrepid is all about, and that's
what we'll bring to the show. So this is the
first episode is just the beginning. In future episodes, we're
bringing on some incredible guests, diving deeper into training, philosophies,

(02:31):
business strategies, and the mindset it takes to actually make
make it in this industry. I want this to be
a conversation, not just me talking to you or at you.
So if you have questions, topics you want to cover,
guests who thinks should be on the show, hit me
up DM, drop me a comment, whatever works. If you're
