Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, y'all, Intrepid Golden Podcast, Episode number seven. I'm Ryan Hanson.
We're gonna talk about nutrition today real probably quick.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Talk might go along. I don't really know.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
We're gonna talk about it. Get it out there so
you guys understand what I believe. I think it will
help with performance inside the gym or.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
In your everyday life.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
So my idea or what I believe, and I think
that it's been that way for a long time, is
eat eating whole foods. Right, whole foods. There's not an
ingredient list on steak doesn't have like multiple things in there,
Like tomato doesn't have like a list of things that's
in it. So anything that is whole, unprocessed should make
(00:51):
up a majority of your meals all the time. So,
like you know, breakfast could be like three eggs and
some bacon. There's really not anything else in there. Maybe
some other preservatives whatever for bacon, not a huge deal, but.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Like that with like an apple bam.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Like lunch, right, maybe like a salad you have like
oil and vinegar dressing and some chicken. Not that crazy, right,
You could throw some veggies in there, like tomatoes and
peppers and onions, if you want in your salad, then
you go into dinner, you could have like sweet potato
(01:30):
with a you know, a piece of chicken or steak.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Or salmon or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
So those are all whole food options that if you
think about, it's really not that crazy and it's not
that like off the beaten path of eating. But if
you ate like that a majority of the time, you
would see all the results you would ever want.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
From being in the gym.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You would lean out, you would lose weight, you look better,
you'd probably feel a lot better, your joints probably wouldn't
hurt as much.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I don't have any.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Like research for you, and I mean if you look
it up, it'll it'll come up like type in paleo
and fuck uh, you know joint pain or something like that.
You'll probably see a bunch of articles or like whole
food diet and joint pain, and it'll probably come up
with craziness and like all this all that stuff is
(02:24):
going to bring down your inflammation. When you drop weight,
it drops your adipose tissue, which is a huge inflammatory marker,
or it's inflammatory out of post tissue like your fat.
So any of that, like anything with whole foods is
really going to help you kind of perform better too.
So as you get your diet in line, like over time,
(02:48):
it's going to take a little bit of time, probably
because you've been eating like a weirdo for a long time,
like TV dinners, too hot pockets to this or you know,
like normal breakfast is like cheerios in the morning, like
a cup of coffee cheerios and milk and then whole
milk right whatever the like. You know, normally, you know,
(03:10):
lunch would be like a sandwich with a bag of chips,
and then you come home and you have like a
pasta with a meatball, one meatball, Like you.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Just ate a a ton of.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Like processed food that you didn't really think was processed
or not that bad. There's not that much fat in it,
but I am fat? What the hell's going on? So
changing your diet, getting it a little bit better, getting
it a little bit more whole foods, like you know,
like everyone says, cut the whites, just cut the process
(03:42):
things out, and it will kind of you'll you'll have
am you probably feel fuller, You probably feel better, I
know you will. You'll perform better always like you know,
you start eating right, You're gonna get stronger. You're probably
gonna do more pull ups. If you don't have pulls,
you might get pull ups.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Things like that happen over time. Just it like.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
You lean out, you're eating better, You're you're you're more
consistent with your eating. You understand, like I don't need
to eat you know, sixteen bags of you know whatever,
one hundred calorie whatever that stuff. Oh I only had
this many calories. I don't know if that matters if
you eat seven bags of it. You know, like maybe
(04:27):
if you had one bag, it wouldn't be that big
of a deal.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
But we don't. Humans don't do that.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
We eat a lot of stuff, especially Americans.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Right, So.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Take your time, like, start working on breakfast for the
next couple of weeks, get that squared away, hammer breakfast,
you get that nailed down, then move on to breakfast
and lunch for another couple of weeks. And then once
you get breakfast and lunch nailed down, eating whole unprocessed
foods for those then nail down dinner doesn't have to
(05:00):
happen overnight. Some people have the ability to do that
and like cut it cold turkey kind of like me
we're drinking. I was like, no, I'm not doing it anymore,
and I stopped.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
From that day on. I didn't need to go to
meetings or anything like that. So you might be like that.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
You could just be like, I'm gonna do this now
and it's gonna change and then that's it. But some
people might need a little ramp up right, and that's fine.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
So take the ramp up. Do it right.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Do breakfast two weeks straight, be real consistent on what
your breakfast is, how you're eating right. Then move on
to breakfast and lunch right, and then move on to breakfast, lunch,
and dinner now. And then you eventually add snacks in
whatever they may be, like some beef jerky that's a
little bit processed, has some like soy sauce and whatever
whatever preservatives kind of like the bacon. But it'll make
(05:50):
you feel so much better. I'm telling you. Joints won't
hurt as much like you'll you'll lose weight, you'll feel better,
clothes will fit back better, you'll look better, your skin
will probably be better, your nails and hair, everything will
feel and look better. We are meant to eat that way.
We ate that way for a long, long time, whole,
(06:12):
unprocessed foods. Pretty much anything we can get, like you know,
that was grown or had a face. That's what we ate, right,
We ate animals, and we ate you know, vegetables and
tubers and things from the ground, the fruit when we
could get to it.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
That's how we ate.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And now we're eating shakes and this and that.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
That's processed. It's all processed.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
So if you are looking to just get healthy, not
necessarily worried about everything else, like how much protein you're
taking in every hour of the day, just like three
meals a day that are whole and unprocessed, and you
will see some glorious, glorious gains inside the gym, in
your body composition, how you feel, how you look, and
(07:01):
how you attack the day. So that is kind of
my nutrition talk. If you guys have any questions about nutrition,
I would like to talk.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
To me about it.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
I'm more than happy to lend an ear and kind
of discuss what nutrition is for you, for me, for
anybody else. You know, even if you're like a vegan
and like, well, how do we attack that, there's a couple.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Of different ways.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's not the greatest way to eat just to be honest,
we weren't meant to just eat veggies, just so you know.
But if you got to eat like that for whatever
reason or vegetarian, there's ways to do it. But again,
you're gonna have a lot of inflammation in your body
which is gonna be hard to deal with too.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
But we could deal with it. We could do it,
we could fix it. We can get you better.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
And we can work through it. And when you come
to the gym and you're eating right, you're looking better,
you're feeling better, You're gonna have more like a more
active life. So then you're gonna do more things outside
the gym. You're gonna go on hikes, you're gonna want
to do things that you, you know, weren't usually capable
(08:12):
of doing, like I don't know, signing up for the
High Rocks or going out to like putting yourself out
there for like a CrossFit event or a functional fitness
event that you never thought you would do, or spartan race.
Those things are awesome. Those you get to meet people
that you never met before do events like that. It's
like it's a continuation of our community, right, and that's
(08:34):
what it's all about. Meeting new people, right, sharing your
experience and then kind of go from there. Growing your
circle is like huge, all right, So eat whole foods
on processed stuff, and you will get better, be stronger,
look better, be leaner and all the other perform way better.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
All right.
Speaker 1 (08:58):

things as we go. This is episode seven Till next time.
