Speaker 1 (00:04):
All the world's a stage by William Shakespeare, and there
isn't Time by Mark Dwain, as told by Neville de'angelou,

(00:26):
All the world's a stage, and all the men and
women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances.
And one man in his time plays many parts, his
acts being seven ages. At first the infant, muling and
puking in the nurse's arms, and then the whining schoolboy

(00:50):
with a satchel and shining mourning face, creeping like snail
unwillingly to school. And then the lover, sighing like furnace,
with a woeful ballad mate to his mistress's eyebrow. Then
a soldier full of strange oats and bearded like the pard,

(01:12):
jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel, seeking the
bubble reputation even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
in a fair round belly with good caporn, lined with
eyes severe and bared, a formal cut full of wise
saws and modern instances. And so he plays his part.

(01:39):
The sixth age shifts into the lean and slippered pantaloon
with spectacles on nose and pouch inside his youthful hose
Well saved a world too wide for his shrunk shank
and his big manly voice, turning again toward childish trouble

(02:00):
pipes and whistles in a sound lest scene of all
that ends the strange, eventful history, in second childishness and
mere oblivion, sands teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sands everything,

(02:37):
William Shakespeare. There isn't time so brief as life for bickerings, apologies,

(02:58):
heart burnings, callings to account. There is only time for loving,
and but an instant so to speak for that, Mark Twain.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
