Speaker 1 (00:00):
He's too late when the game start. It's too late
when the game starts, you know. One of the lessons
I learned was taught by my mentor at the Boys
Club now Boys and Girls Club, Billy Thomas. I was
running track and a new guy joined the team, Reginald Whitfield,
and the coach. Billy could see I was out of
character because this guy was faster than me. He said, yeah, Denzel,

(00:24):
he's faster than you, but he doesn't have the fundamentals.
He doesn't know how to pass the time. He doesn't
know how to run the term. He said, your natural
ability will only take you so far.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And by the grace of God, I realized I was
given this ability.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
To act and direct and do these things. But I
remembered my natural ability would only take me so far.
So I knew had to study more. I had to
get deeper. I had to go to learn more. So
that's what I did, and it paid off.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Denzil Washington, Rio Mile Legend.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Hello, and welcome to the Journey your Radio, hosted by
Nevill d Angelou, author of a sound bite Life and
Flight of the Fused Monkeys. A PRG Emerging Technologies Forum
keynote speaker and founder of Rio Sports. I am Joseph
Ellison Enjoy, I am never.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
You have a gift Today as we pause to breathe,
strengthen your intention, emboldened by Denzil, Coach, Brime, Oprah and
Lady Shitty.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
I'll say it again, don't confuse movement with progress because
you can run in place and not get anything done.
So are you moving forward and who you're taking with
you and how you made things better by the God
given talent that you all have in whatever area it
may be. You have a gift.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
It's called a gift.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
You didn't earn it, you were born with a gift.
Now you own that gift. You developed that gift.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
You.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Do everything you need to do to protect it, and
then you share it.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Every last one of you have a talent, but it's
on you to develop and exercise and go get it.
That's on you. That's not on mama, that's not on dad,
and it's not on a friend, it's not on a homie.
That's on you to go get it. So all of
you got something inside of you that is just screaming
to get out, and it's about time that you bring
it out.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
One of my favorite quotes of all time is Martin
Luther King, who says, not everybody can be famous, but
everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service.
And what I found is, no matter what it is
you're doing for other people, no matter how tedious or
menial the job may seem to you, that if you
shift the paradigm of whatever your work is to how

(02:55):
do I use this to serve? How can I be
of service? Whether it's your art or your skills, your talents,
whatever it is you're offering, if it is offered in service.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Shifting of the paradigm.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
To I'm going to use this to serve makes a
world of difference in the way you put that energy
out into the world and the way that it comes
back to you.

Speaker 7 (03:26):
Along the journey, we stop at intriguing places and meet
fascinating people with novel solutions to some of life's tricky questions.
And we play a few games and track the remarkable
characters of three classic books A SoundBite Life, Flight of
the Fused Monkeys, and Ill Set A Time to Begin Again,
all of which can be found on Amazon and Barnes

(03:48):
and Noble.

Speaker 8 (03:50):
No matter what you do, you will be misunderstood. You
will be criticized, you will be judged, and you'll be questioned.
No matter what you do, people are going to say
what they want to say, and they're going to think
what they want to think. But you have to stay you.
Their concerns are not of your concern. You just have
to stay focused, stay kind, stay loving, stay humble, and

(04:13):
just stay in your lane. Be anchored by your own intention,
and let your intentions be so damn strong, so authentic,
and so loud in your own heart that no matter
how loud the noise gets around you, you can't even
hear them.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
What is your gift? How will you use it? Be
you be encouraged, be strengthened, elevate and flourish, nourish and
hold those natural born gifts. You will find lots of awesome,
free material, exceptional courses, and beautiful people on the journey,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
