(01:53):
but boy is she phenomenal. She'sthe flyer's she did great today. She's
the middle of all the action there. And she's a freshman. Yeah,
you know, second year on theteam is fresh. It amazes me to
watch what the kids can do nowadays. So it was all they came in
first place the week ago and secondplace today and that's some that's some heavy,
(02:13):
heavy stuff. And then of courseit's football. It's a big weekend,
a lot of I've really followed alot of football this year. It's
been very enjoyable. We got ProBowl, Pro Bowl rock party tonight.
It's going to take out that thosePackers, I hope definitely want to see
that Pro Bowl party. And thenuh, the Ravens. Yeah, the
Ravens just are going to pick themup. They're winning bills tomorrow night taking
(02:34):
on the Chiefs. Look good forLamar Jackson. Yeah, he's a great
player. Yeah, it's a greatplayers that he's a great mother and beautiful
lady out there with him. Itwas nice to see, you know,
really nice to see great, greatteams, great futures for them. And
that's that's the fun of sports andcompetition. And we're gonna have a fun
show tonight because we're doing wally Suittonight. This this is another one that
(02:57):
I feel like a Sherman and Peabody, you know, from Rocky and Bullwinkle
back in the fifties and sixties andall that kind of stuff like that.
I'm in the way back machine, going back in time. This one really
really struck a chord with me.Yeah. Yeah, he just reminded you
of thinks, oh man, verysimilar. This is a great, great
episode tonight, And if you guysare watching this at home, keep an
(03:20):
eye out for a great great Howyou doing. How's it going there,
Tom, How's it going to be? Great to see you guys out tonight,
see everybody. Yeah, it's niceto see you guys, you know,
just finishing that one great character actorJohn Hoyd had to look his name
up in Brian Ammick's Beaver Pedium. He's got everything, guys in that book.
And if you love the Twilight Zonelike I do, another one from
(03:43):
the sixties, John Hoyight was thefamous guy in the first season where he
said, well the real Martian pleasestand up, and it was him.
You love the Twilights Oh, hewas in several big character actor and he
plays the clothier, the guy inthe prep shop, gotcha where while he
gets this? So he's the superand he's the scene. He's a suit
guy and you've seen him in amillion pictures. He's always so precise that
businessman orsonas or whatever. It's athere's a goody. So give us a
(04:08):
quick synopsis on the episode. Itstarts off with, and this is quick.
June is sitting here, Wally hasto go to a dance. So
Wally's mother is teaching him how todance. And then Beaver's watching in amazement
while he's embarrassed. And then youknow, Ward comes in and blah blah
blah blah, and Eddie Haskell's atthe door and while he's all stopped us.
(04:29):
He doesn't want any to see this, and they give him the business.
Well, they teach him how todance because he's got to go to
a dance. And then they wantedto get a new suit, and Ward
says he'll take him. But thenthen he says, why aren't you getting
your own suits from there? Yep, that Wally is old enough. He
thinks where he wants to get hisown suit. He brings it up to
Ward in June, and they're nottoo happy about that, particularly Ward,
(04:56):
you know. And it's really funnybecause while we were talking about this before,
while kind of implies toward that he'ssquare, he's out of touch with
things. M M, I knowthat I've got my son here with me.
I mean that happens occasionally with meas well. It happens with all
of us as parents. You know, you're way more experienced than somebody in
the area, and people are tellingyou you're out of the loop or you
don't know what you're talking about orwhatever. You could go down or can
(05:19):
go upwards. So War doesn't likeit too much. Yep. Visas great
Coming of Age episode. Yeah, there you go, that's you. You
hit it on in a couple ofwords, coming of age, all the
coming of age issues there. Absolutely, Well, we're gonna have a lot

The Suit, The Suit quick commercial, quick commercial for thirty seconds. Peacock
(06:09):
always throws that at us. What'sthe volume? Oh excuse me, let
me get this drop on dropped tothe one four. There we go,
Hey, while we have nineteen secondsto go. You know, Wally's going
to go to a store called theprep the Prep Shop. The Prep Shop.
Yeah, it's a you know, kind of a fancy little place in
town. Sure, And I wastelling my son that. Of course,
(06:30):
if you came from a blue collar, middle class family like I did.
Uh, you know, you mighthave multiple kids and suits for expensive particularly
for easter. Robert Halls, anybodyremember Robert Halls. Here's the opening scene.
There's there's June teaching Wally how todance. Wally's looking quite awkward doing
the dance right now as well, and he's going to tell you why second,
(06:53):
see if you'll notice he's doing one, two, three, four.
She's teaching him the box step.See the box step. I am the
worst dancer in the world. Iwould be worse than poor Wally right here
now. Now, look at Wardcoming in. He's a little casual today,
is gonna dance with her, yes, and he's gonna get very romantic
with her. He loves seeing this. I just I get such a kick
(07:15):
out of this thing with the dancingschool with oh, yes, you know
where they're going to dancing school? All right, he's getting better. He
definitely has two left feet a littlebit there. He's a little wants to
hop in and he's the old lovebug. Well that's his queen, that's
(07:35):
what he's gonna tell. Uh,huh, yeah, well he called that
one right there. Yeah, hedoesn't want to get all that club.
Look at him. Look look atthe big smile on his face too.
It's great to see that. Weused to say that to my father,
the saying as all kids do that, and the that coming of age thing.
(07:59):
But Wally, he's hey, watchit. Watch he's turning that music
down, right. He doesn't wantanybody to see. Yeah, he doesn't
want anybody to see his parents.Man, God forbid. So are they
listening on a record player at thistime? It's the records where the way
to go at this time? Right? Yeah? Okay, Kenny man,
this is nineteen fifty eight. Ididn't know if you guys had the Victrolas
or whatever it was. That's arecord too. Okay, we had a
(08:20):
record player for just a short timewhen I was a kid. I'm dating
myself here a little bit. Didthey have a record player? No,
we had it on an MP three. Oh, here's it. He Look
at this guy, he's coming rightin the sweater yep, a squirt.
Look at that. Look at thelittle thin belt. I if you're watching
this at home, look at thethin belts on these guys. Seriously there
(08:45):
he is wanted to said, Iused to watch the show. Yeah,
it's a great show. Want soyou can check it out free in a
lot of different apps like we are. So we're watching it right on peacock
for just a short You get iton Prime, Yeah, you get on
Prime. You can get on tome Roku for free. Yeah, I
just had peacock for other things. So that's why we watch it on peacock
(09:05):
at Its just the biggest phony inthe world. And look at Ward kind
of scouting him right now a littlebit. Yeah, well I'll come home.
Ward wants to get rid of thisis a perfect excuse. Yes,
(09:30):
but of course June's got to bepolite enough here usually, which usually she's
not that polite to Eddie because shejust doesn't like him. Well she doesn't
like him, but she's always polite. And Beaver wants to go up there
and eaves drop. That was probablythe best role for the little for the
little brother there to eat drop onwhat's going on Here's Ward's concerned now,
and of course she's worried about hispoliteness when those other places, I'll look
(09:56):
at them, Well, he's mockingthe kids here. Uh, huh,
it's still it's so cute to seehow to do that with one another.
I used to love when you wouldget grandma and grandpa to dance with one
another. One of my favorite videosis when he was at the end of
his life and he was dancing withus. Here's Eddie putting him up,
(10:22):
putting him up to the fact thathe should be like picking his own suit
out. How many people ever hada similar instance where you were going to,
you know, that special event andyour mom and dad gave you the
opportunity for the first time to gochoose your own stuff. I made sure
when I first started working, assoon as I saved up some money,
(10:43):
You're like, I'm going on myown it's my money. I'm doing it.
Hey, Deborah, how are youwonderful to see you. I hope
you're having a great weekend. Weare on the Suit right now, Season
two, episode ten. Well, these little conflicted here, yeah, he
you know, he wants to feelas you know he doesn't Eddie, but
(11:05):
always puts these doubts in his mind. That's the best part about what he
does. It's always funny how Eddiekind of gives you know, Wally the
business so to speak about his dad. But you know, Eddie Haskell's dad
doesn't pay Atten a lot of attention. Yeah, it doesn't. Hear fro
(11:26):
him very much. I like himin that episode Train Trip. Yes,
he gets such a kick out ofthe stories that they tell on It's one
of the few times you see GeorgeHaskell. I think through the series.
Well there he is. It's likein the Disney cartoons with the Angel goofy
on one, you know, oneside and the devil on the other.
(11:48):
Eddie haskells the devil. He's putthe thought in his usually is Yes,
you got to like it when you'rewhen you're a guy's father, you got
to like it. Now, here'stheir lunch. This is funny. There's
beaver Wolf in his food down. What's he so eager to do? Hamburger's
(12:20):
for lunch? I like it.Beaver's real concrete andess thinking there good but
cold Tennessee kind of shut down thisweek with eight inches of snow and frigid
tempts. We worked from a boyssaying here, yeah, it's cold.
It's about zero degrees out right now. Yep. It's one of the few
times look at those little plates offood that people had their you're not seeing
(12:46):
that now, Well he's now.Now he's put them up for it now
to give him the money for thesuit, and he's gonna go down and
do it on his own. Look, Award, if you're watching this show,
you're gonna see war you can, you'll see your parents maybe right there.
Yep. And of course Beaver's gotto chime in for his brother a
(13:07):
little bit there. I was tellingmy son, my father would always make
sure when when you got a sportsjacket for church, your church cost sports
jacket or suit, you know,in your a couple of pairs of pants.
He had to make sure you weregoing to have some kind of Fedora
always. He loved those damn fedora's. It's like, are you kidding a
(13:30):
man like nobody's are you not? That looks wonderful? Is great on you?
He looks, he looks, helooks sharp with that. Maybe that's
why we're both scarred from wearing hatsto this day. Well I don't look
good in the hat, but wow, he wears he would wear that hat
out everywhere. Yes, no matterwhat. Brenda loved this episode. Yep.
(13:56):
Absolutely, it's a great episode. Now it must be the same thing
if you're a female and everything else. When you want to buy your own
dresses and days. I can remembermy sisters mom would want to chime in
and tell her what to wear, take her to the store. And it
wasn't so much my mom, itwas my father. Yeah. He was
very conservative, yeah about how theydressed in things. Yeah, yeah,
it makes sense. I can seethat. Yeah, well he was over
(14:18):
the top of that stuff a littlebit. How was he when they brought
a girl, when the girls broughta boy home, he was all right
with that stuff. Yeah, theygot serious. You know a lot of
families always gave boyfriends a lot ofproblems, but stuff like that and vice
versa. Sure, you know motherswould baby, there's here's the prep shop,
(14:39):
the prep shop. Look at theawful hat on that woman behind him.
In a day, it looked prettygood. I worked as a salesman
for many years in men's clothing andshoe salesman and stuff like that. As
a young kid on Edward and Iworked in a place called jam Fields on
King Say, very similar, wherehe had tuxedos and everything else like that.
(15:00):
This is John Hoyd. If youguys are watching the show you'll recognize
this guy and a clothier in theshop. You know this guy, you
know, he'd come in and thenhe get the tailor and you know,
chalk you all up and everything elselike that. Was this like a prestigious
gig to have something like that, like in a fancy upscale shop like that.
That was just a common good store. Yeah, I mean that was
(15:22):
a good store. Yeah. Yeah. Guys are a professional salesman their whole
life. That's what they did.See. He's actually kind of friendly to
the kids though, when you seehim in here, whereas other people,
you know, the other adults, when they know it would be nice.
They know his old man has anaccount there and everything else, so he's
able to buy the suit. Boy. Look at that one. Some interesting
(15:48):
styles, to say the least. That's very similar to the stuff that you'd
see today. John Hoyt returned toa later episode in another role. Yeah.
Absolutely, that's like Captain Jack returnshis uncle Billy later ed you,
Buchanan, of course. I likekind of how they did that later on
where they bring people back in differentroles. Yes, Now that's an ugly
one right there. Today you wouldeven see a plaid like that and definitely
(16:11):
in the sixties, but that wasa that was people would laugh. If
somebody would have like a plaid jacket, you might be able to get away
with, but it would be likea hounds. Do you ever have a
plaid jacket like that? No?Yeah, no, not a big wide
plaid like that. I had beautifulplaid jackets later on in the eighties and
nineties that are great looking. EdgarBuchanan. Yes, yes, how's it
(16:34):
going, Tom, Great to seeTom. Did you ever get hooked up
any of you guys out there byyour parents or so? Wow, it
almost looks like a kind of azoot suity kind of a thing. Yeah,
an oversized suit. And he's gonnasay, wow, look it's ten
dollars cheaper because they're crazy, that'swhy it's cheaper. Yes, believeing The
(17:07):
salesman goes, oh, oh yeah, and he's trying to be a nice
guy. He's trying to not insulthim or anything else like that. You
gotta wonder why they would even carrysomething like that when even the guy that's
you know, the salesman, issaying, oh, you know, some
people might just want allowed suit.Uh huh, that's what Ward will say,
(17:27):
when he sees the suit, he'llsay that it's kind of loud.
Have you ever heard that. I'veheard the expression a loud vibrant you know,
you can really see it. Abig thing was a good thing was
ties. When I worked in sales, a lot of people didn't know how
to pick out or make a tie, and you always have to take you
wrap the tie around your finger andshow how it looked. Unsures. People
would always say to me, canyou pick me on a shirt and a
tie? Oh boy, I can'twait. I haven't seen this one in
(17:52):
about a year or two. Yeah, I can't wait to see his expression
here when he comes out. Tomhad a great point. He said,
there's a right of passage, andit certainly is. He's like using some
the intermediate ground between a kid anda parent because the generations are changing.
All right. It's a goofy suit, nonetheless, but he looks sharp in
it. I think he looks finethan that. Actually, because you live
(18:15):
in twenty twenty four, I agreethis is nineteen fifty eight. That was
goofy. I'm not saying it's thesharpest looking thing in the world, but
he looks good. If you lookedat suits from the seventies and eighties that
would face. That would be fine. Yeah, you can get a suit
like that down. But if itwas tailored properly. Oh absolutely, you
see people like that all the timework and stuff like that. Sure,
(18:37):
it's kind of that hipster look, you know, that kind of trendy looked.
It's more of a like a thatGlenn plaid, more of an you
know, an English tweety look.Look at words face though right here,
like he is just he's really strugglingnot to say what he wants to say.
How many of you guys, don'tyou just said expression there? Yes,
he said the tie was loud. How many of you guys out there
(19:00):
you're like, particularly the guys likemaybe teenagers in the sixties or seventies or
things like that or eighties. Thisis nineteen fifty eight. The world was
transitioning big time into the sixties, and very soon in sixty two sixties,
you're gonna people were hippies wearing bellbottoms, long here, all kinds of
crazy things. All this stuff wasgoing way out of fashion. Yeah,
(19:26):
it never makes a good point righthere on this one, she goes she's
talking about Wally's suit, if itwas a tight fit today because they wear
a tighter Oh, sh'll see himlike that. V says A good point
as well. She said that wouldnever be worn in nineteen fifty eight to
a dance, no, Tom says, or a gypsy family. Yes,
all great comments there. There yougo me spot on from everybody. Look
(19:49):
at Beaver. Beaver's putting it overnow. He likes it, he says.
Like I said, I think Wallylooks nice in it, but I
can understand in this time why itwould have been in this thing though.
You see, my mother was thesame way. She was always trying to
be understanding and nice. Now you'regonna we were gonna think that. These
guys too and Eddie are over now, are gonna think this suit is terrible,
(20:10):
and they're gonna think it's the best, right. Yeah, I remember,
look at him just stop it andstare and they think this is awesome.
You're waiting for him to clown him, and then you know they're gonna
put him over right here. Sure, the shoulders are too big, everything
(20:30):
on this says. I remember mybrother in leisure suits in the seventies.
Oh my god, were they likethe one piece suits? No, they
were two pieces of suits. Theylooked like one piece kind of though.
Right. No, there was likea little jacket or things, you know,
and they were the pants were thesame color as the top. Yeah,
the ones that I thought were ridiculouswith the nehrew jackets. We had
(20:52):
a teacher, my math teacher, would wear leisure suits in the nineteen nineties
to school. He was so oldand antiquated and dorky. But he was
the nicest guy, so nobody eversaid anything to him about wearing the leisure
suits. See, I find thesame thing. I think it was DEVI
you mentioned that. I find thesame thing now when I see full grown
men wearing these little tiny jackets yep, that show their the bottom of their
(21:12):
shirt. Yeah, they'd always wearit baggy or you know, no,
you just wear more form fitting. It just looks stupid and very skinny skinny
pants. Now that the boys areupstairs, Ward is pulling Jun into the
side here, trying to and tryingto talk through this because he is none
too happy. No horse blanket, yep, Yeah, that's what I was
(21:33):
just gonna say. Right before hesaid it, he says, I don't
want our friends seeing it. That'swhat he's worried about. He doesn't want
anybody seeing his son walking out inthat suit. It's not that nice conservative
look. I'm sure parents are stillthe same way, but they're more subdued
about it. But back in thefifties, man, you represented your family
absolutely. It makes sense though ifyou if you had a crazy, goofy
(21:55):
kid, or they were they hadgoofy haircut yep, or your kid wasn't
very good athletics, or they weren'tvery you know, they weren't competent socially
or academically, or things that embarrassedfamilies. It really did, you know,
I can get it. I canunderstand the kids were very embarrassed about
many times. So depending upon whatkind of school or neighborhood they lived in,
(22:15):
you know, what their parents did. They had a lot of money,
and how the cars were never saidpolyester with bright silk shirts, absolutely,
gosh polyester. Wow. Almost donewith the commercial here, folks.
I used to have some oh thatwas with John Travolta and Saturday Night,
And I had some polyester shirts whenI was a thirty inch lace that would
(22:38):
show your chest. And there's afew pictures of you. I got a
house of you from the seventies thatyou gave. Oh boy, we always
said you had that seventies plus theborn stash. We'd call it. Look
at Ward. He cannot get overthis right now, he could not get
(23:00):
over it. I had me alittle rattail too. Oh yeah, Rayon
absolutely, Rayon and ban lawn.I don't know what that is. They're
different synthetic materials. Okay, we'relike a bandlawn shirt. Okay. See
I learned something new. All thetime. We never said perfect examples Dad.
(23:23):
Yeah, and there was Banlon socks. He shining his shoes now,
which is another lost art that nobodyknows how to do. Yeah. I
never see anybody shine their shine.I would shine my father's shoes and it
was my Sunday tradition in the militarywas I would shine my boots in my
dress shoes every Sunday night. Therewas nothing like seeing your shoes glean.
(23:47):
You know, you just see that, you can see your reflection in them.
Basically. Now, see you metyou guys mentioned that right of passage.
Here's war and he's gonna come upwith these. He's he's trying to
be good to Junius. Have ithim kind of like maybe talk some sense
into him. Do you guys rememberstacked stacked heels and stack shoes? What
(24:08):
are those? They had a bigheel on it? Oh man, they
were stacked, and then they hada big stacked soul. I had the
man I loved him. Everybody hada big like how big word was the
soul of a soul on it?It would be like it would be stacked.
It would be like a half inchor three wards finish stacked heel.
It looked kind of like a cowboyboot. And it's a solo John and
(24:32):
stant aka walling Wart. It's niceto see you guys. Hey, amen,
how are you How you're doing, buddy? Great to see how hopefully
having a great weekend, my friend. And then did you have a leisure
suit and some stacked some stacked heelswe're talking about saying sure, we're talking
about some of the old fashioned stylesfrom the sixties, seventies, fifties and
all around. I'm learning. I'mgetting educated tonight by everybody. Ward is
(24:55):
still just very agitated about he is. He's trying to tell he is so
worried about this. He is soworried. He is just in his own
mind pannicking right now about this. They can all get matching suits like that
(25:15):
Beaver suggested, so they could bethe Three Musketeers. Oh I love it,
Amon said, no, he didnot no leisure suits and stacked in
stack shoes. Hey, Barbara, how are you tonight? Better late than
never? Hello? Everybody, greatto see it, Barbara. I hope
(25:37):
you're doing well. Now he's hot, he's about to lose in June walks
in at the perfect time. Yes, Now she knows how to segway while
into this. Look how she's calmingward down in her own way though too.
She's putting it nicely. Hold onevery I don't know, he's just
(26:07):
wo Yeah he has he knows itdoesn't look so great. Yeah, so
she's yeah, she'll take him downto this, She'll take him down to
the show. Aman said, Iwas born in nineteen seventy three, so
yeah, no, other than you'rea mean, you're just a baby to
me. Eman's got me be byabout nine years. And I say that
(26:34):
with love. Amen. They're bringingthis back to the store. And look
at that nice suit box that heputs that in right there now they give
is that little overcoat, you knowthe garment bag or whatever they throw it
in. Oh look a look atnow, watch this salesman. He knows
what he's doing. While he's definitelykind of nervous a little bit about Ward
(26:59):
being here at this, Sure heis because he doesn't want to be chumped
off. Listen to this salesman, just chop off. He's gonna say,
hold on, spoil. Yeah, there was the drape on your coat and
(27:22):
the and your pants had to havea break in them. You had to
have you had to hit your shoeand get a little break. Now watch
what he tells him. But he'snot. He's putting. He's look at
Look at June given the nod tothe to the sales ball because he knows
(27:45):
what he's doing. Oh. Absolutely, this guy is the savior right here.
This is how we were trained whenwe were a salesman back in you
could sell anybody anything. See youin a word for the huskier fellas.
You know, if you were overweightyou were called a husky husky. You
have suits for husky boys. NowJune's doing the smart move there by saying,
(28:15):
my son's got his heart set onthis, so she's trying to support
it. Give no she's giving himall the ropes, so take the decisions.
That's what I'm saying. She's she'strying to be supportive even though she
knows that he's having the second thoughts. And they're doing this, you know,
dance here with them to get himto get away from this. And
of course this suit fits, andhe's athletic, and he looks so handsome
(28:36):
in it. There we go.Ward is about to be ecstatic right now.
Yeah, there you go. There'sthat right up past that you come
(29:07):
home with something. That's how aboutlike you go out and buy your first
car on your own. H Lumpycould be husky, Yes, Lumpy's husky.
And Larry Mondelo even says, Iknow, Stan love you guys like
brothers too, right on, myfriend. See he looks very nice in
(29:29):
that though. Yeah, if youtook the if you took the you know,
the handkerchief out of his pocket, then it would look okay. Today,
I don't know about I mean,maybe it's because of the black and
white. The tie doesn't look goodto me. Oh yeah, that's the
black. Yeah. I think it'sprobably just the black and white. I
wish they would colorize these just tosee. Sometimes I know Steve Jones does
those really great pictures, you know, and it's been a little bit since
(29:52):
we've seen Steve Steve stuff. ButI wish they kind of just to see
some of the colorized in the video. Maybe it's out the I don't know,
but it would be interesting to me. Though. The black and white
is the best part of the show. It's authentic, Yes, it is.
I like that classic like Twilight nowis. Of course they're all decked
out and they're all no action.Yep, I took it back. What
(30:25):
for like this? That's why didhe would have knocked him dead? What
a good looking kid while he was? He really was. It was reminds
my brother Georgia. Yeah, justlike it all the way from England.
(30:52):
Always got to exaggerate something right yeah, h seah. I missed those days
and seeing the kids or they wouldcome over to the house like that.
You know, it took au Ittook the village to raise the kids,
you know. Anyways many ways,Well you're forgetting about Yeah that was the
(31:23):
story. Then here that Ward wastrying to tell him about a turtle next
sweater that didn't look too well.Uh that he Ward's kind of trying words,
kind of trying to play it upa little bit, like like he
was way ahead of the game onthis when the reality that she wasn't.
Yeah, she's kind of taking thecredit for her right here a little bit,
because of course Dad's got to bethe one at this time. You
(31:45):
know that Uh knows that anything here? Yep, good point, Ward,
Yeah, Jude didn't tell him thatat all. Right, Nope, she
but she didn't rub it in hisface now, but she Yeah, no,
she acknowledged it. But people don't. People don't give this enough credit
(32:06):
the show where they think that womenwere in this. I mean, it
was a much different role she taughthere. She teaches Ward all a lot.
Absolutely teach each other. Yeah,I love it. It's no big
deal to them. No, Ilove it. It's their culture. Nice
ending to the episode, beautiful episode. Oh absolutely, that was a good
one. Oh, most definitely thatwas a good one. Well, the
(32:29):
next one is titled school play. That's a funny one too. I don't
remember that one. Bieber gets thisreally goofy costume. Oh yes, and
Ward uh word about like flips hiscork again. Yes, yes, I
guess I think it's kind of feminineif I remember for like a feminine part
that I don't regret. Yeah,it was, it was something crazy.
I really liked this episode though. This was a really really good one.
(32:49):
Yes, once again, I meanyou you find very few bad ones in
the show. No, you reallydon't. And it's it really is funny
going back to the good old daysfor a lot of people that you know
that I'm the good that. Theseweren't perfect times, to be sure,
but they had many really nice qualities. Totally like anything else. I was
actually watching something today and actually,of all things, Real Time with Bill
(33:14):
Mahers totally the opposite of this theshow, but he had a good point
for twenty twenty four and he saidthat a good thing for twenty twenty four
is what he's looking for is forsanity, for sanity, sanity in the
world. And you know, that'swhat shows like this were wonderful for.
I think that's why so many ofus like this show, because even with
(33:34):
all the imperfection of the fifties andsixties, you know, any period of
time, there was a lot ofsanity. Absolutely, you know, there
there were kind of pretty clear cutexpectations. Yeaht of areas, you know,
sometimes too much. You know,it was a lot of good stuff.
What's this? I like the wall, he said. I like the
Wally centered episodes. I love Ilike it when I switched that up too,
(33:57):
you know. And of course theshow is usually and of course Leave
It to Beaver, you know, the name is show. But I like
when they it seems like every threeor four episodes they switch it up and
add in another element with one ofthe other characters where they're a little bit
more of a focus about. Itseems like every maybe like three to four,
four to five ish three to fiverange, you know, no matter,
no matter what this story is though, I don't know if you guys
(34:19):
agree, it could be a Wallycentered one. Everybody has a part,
yes, you know they nobody evergets left out. It's it really is.
It really is a repertoire, youknow, a repertory company. You
know, they're not just a bunchof people doing Leave It to Beaver.
Yeah, you know this character comesin and this character comes in, and
(34:39):
you know they're returning characters. Youdon't find bad characters in here. No,
then that's the thing that's a goodshow with good writing. We started
watching a totally different type of showlouder Milk. You know the Netflix very
kind of wacky comedy. You know, it's very darker. You know,
it's not like a fun love being. There's a lot of them Sindis in
(35:00):
it. But the characters on theshow and how the writer writes them,
all the characters. There's two threestars of the show like this is.
Of course, there's that your topcharacters Wally, you know, beaver Ward
and June, but the other supportingones, like in that show Loudermilk,
I see, they just bring outthe show because they're so They're all so
good, and so they play suchpivotal roles, even if they're sporadic.
(35:22):
What would have what would the showhave been like without and Eddie Haskell?
And it would have been different. It's too bad that we don't have a
format where we could like show twoshows at the same time, or you
put them on flip screens and goback and forth or whatever. Ozzie and
Harriet a lot of people are notfamiliar with anymore. But that was one
way before Leave It to Beaver waskind of the prototype. Same thing,
(35:44):
recurring characters and everything, but theones that I think most of you guys
will remember on on here that aresimilar to this show, Andy Griffith,
Oh, great show. The otherone is the Mary Tyler Moore show.
Yeah, don't remember that. OhI remember watch on Nick and Night when
every kid a little bit. ButI remember a beautiful show with characters and
things like that that wasn't for kids, you know, for younger people primarily,
(36:08):
but you know it's for grown ups. But it was a grown up
comedy. But yeah, a greatshow. But this really the only those
are shows that come close to thekind of characters that are in here.
For me, said great ones, great picks, Yeah, thank you.
Yeah, they really are their wonderfulshows. And I know there's more of
them out, but those are theones that are to me, the really
(36:30):
really good ones. Yeah, FatherKnows Best is another one that used to
get a lot of popularity. AndI never cared for that show too much.
Yeah, it wasn't one that Icould identify with. Kitten and but
I don't remember. My Three Sonsis another one. Have you ever seen?
I did? I used to watchit, Like I said, Nick,
and I it's been twenty five thirtyyears at remember any of it.
(36:52):
But I had seen it I rememberthe theme songs to them a little bit.
Yeah, I used to love that. That's what I used to love
that. Nickod Knight would do onCable back the day, those black and
white shows at night, and itwas like every night, I think after
like nine o'clock and it went onfor like nine eight, nine pm,
like three am. They'd have theMary Tyler Moore Show. You'd see Bob
Newhart I think was on there.I love Lucy My Three Sons I think
(37:15):
was on there at some point.Mister Ed the Donna Reed show. Yeah,
I mean my Father was another one. I don't remember that one.
I never knew that one. JohnForsyth was. I remember Silver Spoons later
on with Ricky Schroeder. I neverwatched. Yeah, just different ones they
would put on there. I knowwe're just going off on a little different
topic here, but it has tojust do with just all the different characters
(37:35):
on all these shows and how wellthey were written. Great episode closing thoughts.
My friend just that it's great doingthese shows with you. It's great
going back down through And I lovethat comment. I think it was me
who said it. There these rightsof passage, yep, it's it's A.
It's a. It's just fun togo back and look at it how
our culture has changed. Yep.I love it, you know, Yep,
(37:58):
no doubt about it. I lovethe time I live in right now.
But I also I miss some ofthose days because I remember them very
precisely, just like this. Absolutelyyeah, yeah, very sweet. Well,
we hope everybody had fun with us. I can't do the show next
week. I have a prior commitmenton Saturday night next week, so I
cannot do the show next week. But we'll be back the week after that
(38:21):
because it will officially be the nextweek our one year anniversary. Oh,
since we launched the show just oneyear, it seems like it seems like
second year. Well, we're intothe second season already, but we've been
doing a one year and two weeks. So we'll come back for our next
episode in two weeks for our oneyear anniversary show. Fantastic. Yeah,
So it's been it's been a greatyear, getting an opportunity to know everybody
(38:42):
and have fun, and we've gotlots more great times to come. We
must open a bottle of Bubbly orsomething like that. Well, it's only
one year, so we're not makingbig money yet, so we gotta drink
this buy. Yeah, we gotto go get the cooks, the six
dollars bottle of champagne. You know, that's all we can afford off of
right now, off of the stuff. But it's still one year. It's
been awesome, it's been fun.So we'll be back in two weeks for
(39:04):
our one year aniversary show and manymany many more to come. Yes,
do you remember Car fifty four?Where are you stand? You remember?
Tony? Of course I do that. That show was such a phenomenal hit
because it had a lot of alot of characters from John Wanno the show
with a Sergeant Bilco with Phil Silvers. Didn't you didn't Steve Martin remake that
(39:30):
or all? Oh yeah, yeahyeah he did, but that wasn't okay
show all the characters with Fred Wynn. Gotcha? Was the monster? Okay?
Yeah? Gotcha? And Joey Rosslet's see you never says, so
enjoy the podcast. Well, sogood love Car fifty four? Absolutely all
right, everybody, Well we aregoing to sign off for the evening.
(39:52):
We will see you all again. He got it too, Joey Ross,
I have no idea what he wasa famous comedian. I have no idea.
All right, all right, everybody, have a great rest of the
week and tell a friends, shareit out there, let them know to
come on by and join us everySaturday night. Will see you in two
weeks. For the one eighty second, I got one more for these they
(40:12):
wanted car all right longus. There'sa hold up in the Bronx, Brooklyn's
broken out in fights, there's asomething in whatever it is, okay,
and then you go, Car fiftyfour, where are you? All right?
This is making me not want towatch the show. No, it's
a terrifying It was just like thesixty third Precinct where I was a kid.
(40:32):
Uh huh, yes, all right, everybody, have a big hunky
cake, give a big tall glassof milk, and we'll see y'all again
in two weeks. Right back here, I'll believe it to Beaver podcast.
Thanks everybody,
