(01:27):
All right, everybody, welcome toanother great episode of the Leave It to
Beaver Podcast. I am John andjoining him as always as my partners Dan.
How you doing, my friend?Oh man, I'm doing great today
at Super Bowl weekend. I'm waitingfor the big game tomorrow. Who you're
rooting for? You know? Ilike both teams, but I kind of
(01:47):
like I like the Chiefs a lot, but I like San Francisco and I
like that rock party and Christian McCafferyperty Mania sweeping the nation sweetheart. What
a good kid he really is.He is a nice guy, I mean,
and I like that the Chiefs andeverything a good team, and then
they're not my favorite teams, butI would say that San Francisco is like
maybe my second favorite team. They'remy second favorite team for the Dolphins because
(02:09):
the Brock Party. So I hopehe wins. It's gonna be a great
game though tomorrow. I hope it'salways fun and I have no urge to
see the halftime show or anything likethat. Usher I'm not into that type
of music. But he's a greatmusician or whatever they is, but I
don't listen to him, so I'mnot into that. I'm into the game
though, So it's gonna be It'sgonna be an awesome one tomorrow. Tony
(02:30):
Romo, he's got me and he'sdoing the game. He's pusher boy.
You don't like him. I thinkhe's stay in that dopa on commentary.
He's terrible to me. I'm sorry, guys, I hope this doesn't screw
up. Leave it to Beaver thefootball and analysis here. But Tom is
here a little Tom. How areyou guys? Tom? Hello? Dever,
(02:51):
how are you? Tom? SaysI live near San Francisco. You
must be excited? Are you aforty nine Ers fan? Tom? I
hope, I hope your team takesit and you guys get the victory.
If that's the case. But there'salways got to be a winner and a
loser, and it's gonna be agreat game. I think we'll be all
winners at fans tomorrow night. AndI think we're winners tonight because we got
a great episode of the show.Winner. Sorry always are sometimes sometimes I
(03:15):
don't know. Sometimes for sure?Oh boy, if my wife was down
and we're doing some whistle talk alltimes of Patriots fan, all right,
okay, all right, Patriots fan, Okay, Well, fair enough.
I still like the Patriots at theend, not at the beginning. They're
in a rebuild mode right now,but you know they're in a rebuild mode,
but that things are looking good fromDevor is not a fan of Tony
(03:38):
Romo either, so you're ah,Dever, you're on, John, John,
I think a lot of people wouldagree with us on that one.
Tony you know the worst, andI'll move on to the young man after
that. You know, you know, the worst announcer in all of the
games you watch on all the channels, that dope Chris collins Worth. Oh
yes, he's the most aggravating guyin the world. I'd listen to to
(04:01):
Tony Romo's instead of here and likeDop's colins Worth talk no thank you,
but enough football talk. We're hereto we're here to have some fun and
watching Weaver to you know, Wardwould probably you know, would be a
fan of it. Beaver would haveto eat his Brussels sprouts though he sees
the game because remember the old episodewhere they had football tickets. I think
this is that might be season twoor three, but definitely Chris collins Worth
(04:26):
is the worst. Thank you thisthis show tonight will you let me let
you do your I do the synopsisfor it because I don't remember this episode
at all, you know, Iremember this one that's got a you know,
it's the visiting two ants that says, but it's really Aunt Martha and
her friend miss or missus half theway the generals, the general's wife,
(04:46):
and I guess the general might bepassed away. I don't really know on
the thing here, but this is, this has the whole crew. This
has Tuye on their Lumpy, uh, the other kid who was a really
good ballplayer. Chester Chester, Yes, Chester is in it. You know,
Ward is. It's very funny inthe beginning with Ward in June the
(05:08):
little banter and what happens is twoweeks old man his father has tickets to
the carnival for all the rides andeverything else like that, and you know,
he says to he says to theguys there, hey, you want
to go to day the thing?Wally and Beaver out there and say sure
that that's you know, really nice, and Lumpy invites himself and all this
(05:30):
other kind of stuff. But theywant somebody to get their father to take
them there, and Willy and Beavervolunteer Ward, and Ward's going out there
to do his thing and meets thekids in the garage and oh, it's
really nice and everything else like that, and then they walk in the wartsy.
Yeah, I'm going to do it. They call up everybody they want
to go to the carnival. Andwhat happens Martha not randomly, she calls
(05:55):
up early in the morning, tellsJune that she's coming with Missus Hathaway and
has some stuff for you know,Willy and Beaver and everything else. And
this week right back in the inthe way back machine with you know,
with Sherman and mister Peabody. Evidentlywith the shows that it really shows in
the show with Ward, they hereally understands that Aunt Martha is very very
(06:19):
important to June. I don't knowwhat's in June's past when she was a
kid, but Aunt Martha was veryimportant to her. She always says she's
like a mother doer. Yeah maybeshe maybe her mother died or something like
that. Who knows what they're implying. But anyway, she's getting there and
they get there late and they haveto leave at twelve, and you know
what's going to happen Yep, they'vealready called up the guys to take them
(06:42):
to the carnival. They're ready forthey're ready for business. But no way,
Martha are sitting down and doing everything. Well, let's get on into
them. Let's get into it,buddy, all right. If you guys
want to watch along with us,head on over to whatever app you watch
on. We watch on the PeacockGap. And just a quick reminder to
you, make sure that you likeand follow the page here, that would
be greatly appreciated. If you're watchingon Facebook and a like and follow,
(07:04):
make sure you guys all like thatvideo whether you're watching on YouTube or Facebook
as well. And if you're onYouTube, please follow and subscribe to the
show, and once again like thevideo. And also everything's always available in
audio within about ten minutes after theshow ends every week. So that's all
of my cheap plugs and disclaimers.Let's get on into it. Here we
go. Tom said it was aseason four episode one for the Brussels Sprouts
(07:30):
episode you know this with this showhere as they're just doing the intro here
where this really showed like in families, like the respect that you might have
for a grandparents, or an auntor uncle or somebody came in from another
state. That was a big deal. I just always get excited when we
would as a kid too, andthat would have but when Uncle George would
come by, or Grandpa's friends youknow, come down sometimes you know,
(07:55):
from the city or people. Itwas always a fun thing. We had
a thing with my family that oneof my father's commercial books, Yeah there
is a commercial on here. Excuseme. His name was Bob Dipple.
He was the first officer on anoil tanker, a huge one from Mobile
Exxon, and you would see himonce a year and he would come in
and man, I don't care whatI was doing. I wanted to see
(08:16):
mister Dipple. And my parents andand my godfather and my mother they would
Their tradition was they would play Monopolyall night long. Hearts, they'd spoke
cigarettes, drink booze, and justfour of them and they knew generons they
were kids, and it was abig deal. It was a big deal.
It was a big deal on Thanksgivingfor a guy called Bob Bauer,
(08:37):
a friend of my dad's, youknow, from the service and everything else,
to come by and you know, everybody would wait for him more or
you know, wait for Joe satPienza. My godfather. Tommy's the last
guy to come. Tom said, worked on many Exxon mobile tankers. Is
you really, Tom, What doyou do? What do you do for
a living? If you don't mindme asking, Tom love to know,
(09:00):
if you don't mind sharing, ifyou don't if you if you don't want
to no worries Ward in June. There are now in the kitchen at this
moment. This is really funny. If you watch this episode, you'll see
the old ice trays. Is itmetal? Of course? So how do
they how do they crack the ice? There's a little handle that you pull
up. Okay, it cracks theice like a nutcracker, and it has
(09:22):
to be put in in the rightdirection or it'll stick in the freezer.
Okay, look how small the freezerwas in those days. Yeah, that's
a tiny ice box right there.Yeah. Ward is being kind of funny.
He says he wants to build likea little box, a wood box
or something like that. And he's, you know, in order to motivate
himself, he's going down to buythe hinges. First. Tom is cooking
Italian restaurant. Wonderful. You betyou got some good some good meals,
(09:46):
Tom V said. When my mom'sfamily visited, it was command performance for
us kids. You got it thekids always, you know when that was
the case when we get company.I remember when your family friends that come
buy are all the people, allthe guys when we grew up fishing with
Joe and John the worm Man,But Joe would stop by. I was
just showing a friend some pictures thatyou gave me to night Joe. Joe
(10:07):
Garfield is one of the pictures. They say, is that your second grandfather
said, it's like him. Hewould come by the house. He'd lived
close by, and every time he'dcome by it was a big deal.
Yes, you know, and we'dalways stop doing everything, come over and
have a good time. The guyssee now the carnival poster for the Mammoth
Carnival and we got Lumpy, Wegot Chester, Tooey and Wally and the
(10:28):
beeve out here look at Twoy.Yes, yes, Thom says, now
I'm getting fat. Well. Beinga cook, that's the that's the perker.
Being a good cook, Tom,You get to make good meals for
yourself all the time. Amen,How are you to Amon says, hey,
you guys just signing in the night. Great to see Amen, Great
to see everybody else out. Didyou guys ever go to a carnival or
(10:52):
anything else like that? You know, I grew up in Brooklyn, so
you go to Coney Island all thetime. Probably there would be corn.
There would be other carnivals out LongIsland. Yeah, you know, but
they were cheesy, you know, compared to like if you went to the
circus in Madison's per Garden or somethinglike that. How many of you all
remember going to carnivals as a kid. I remember, even as a kid
going in them around here all thetime. Yeah. The broom, I'll
(11:13):
never forget when one of the times, maybe you remember this, Mama had
taken me and my friends and everybodycame over for supper that night and we
had pasta bazool I'll never forget it. It was like a hundred degree day
in the summer, and we wentto the carnival over near Kmar. Yeah,
and we went in this one ride. It was so hot outside,
like I said, a hundred plusdegrees. It must have been one hundred
(11:33):
and thirty degrees in this one right. It's called the gravatron. That's fun
everywhere. We got so sick andI couldn't eat pasta basol for years afterwards
because of that carnival. But wego every year and loved it. I
go to the county fairs with mywife and we love the demolition demolition derby.
I get up as close as Ican, We get covered in mud.
(11:56):
It's hysterical. And then my wifewill sit there and play the the
thing with the ping pong balls.Yeah, and we win fish all the
time. I don't know how youdo the county fairs. I have to
work out them. We work inthem all the time for our boots will
bring out for my job just tomeet people. Right Rockaway Playland, excuse
me. Yeah, and it's Ican't stand the affairs and the people.
(12:18):
I mean, it's like fun fora day, but when you're stuck out
there all week, like you don'twant to do it. V said,
Church bazaars, they had riots, absolutely, The church bars are always fun.
Still are Rockaway Playland? Tom said, got a job every year the
carnival came to town. Oh thatmust have been fun. Nice to see
you guys too, Thank you amen. Yeah, these guys now they're waiting
in the garage, just so thatwe know they got the whole plan there.
(12:41):
They've got They got to ask Ward, as I said before, if
you'll take them. Here's Beeve rightnow. That was the sign right there
for the Mammoth Carnival. That wasthe last scene right there where they were
all talking about going to the carnivalright now. And Martha, by the
way, it's called up. Wewere bs in there with everybody. She's
(13:01):
called up and orders that she's coming. Nobody knows this yet. What are
all those papers for in the garagethat he has? Of those like old
magazines and news clippings or something,or newspapers they might be. But they
used to have junk men that usedto come along. You guys might remember
that the junk man would come alongand collect rags and paper. Really,
yeah, they would take There wasa ragman too, as a matter of
fact, that the famous actor KirkDouglas's father was a Jewish ragman. Wow,
(13:24):
guy, what was the purpose ofthat. They would take the rags,
put them into big bundles and theywould reprocess them. Interesting, Yeah,
they'd make money and the junk forthe metal. Like now, it's
so interesting the same thing. It'sso interesting to see, like even though
here this is just how meticulous theywere and everything this was, you know,
the house was June's layer, youknow, that was her place to
(13:45):
keep good. Look at Ward's garagehere and where his tools are and all
the things hires. Everything is putin the place neatly with he knows where
he's going. That's like Wards domainthere in the garage. I see.
And here's the here's the American familythat they showed the two guys. They're
all happy with your father A niceguys are gonna take him carnday uh oh
(14:13):
yeah, dumb, dumb, dumb. June makes the situation complicated. This
is you know, just giving usyou know, you know, you guys
have seen this episode. I've beta lot of people this is a very
touching one between Warre and June.Very Warren becomes very respectful of Aunt Martha
and very tolerant and also understands alot about June in this well, it
(14:37):
was in season one they had theirlittle dust up between the two of them.
If I remember something, Yeah, something had happened with was that trained
the train trip episode or one beforethat or something maybe around there. They
had that little dust up in seasonone, I remember, and then he
understood her differently. Yeah, theumbrella ant that's right, Tom one percent.
I was never really a fan ofthe Aunt Martha character on the show.
(14:58):
It was one of those characters. It was a lot like really yeah,
yeah, look at the if youif you watch the show, look
at a little tiny freezer and he'she's getting the He heard his hand on
the ice tray to get it out. I see what you're talking about now.
How they cracked it with that onething was a little handle. Yeah,
everybody remember remembers the sound of thatice? Do you remember the sound
(15:18):
of that ice in the middle tray? You go, hey, Barbara,
how are you tonight? Great tosee you, Barbara. There's no penalty
for being late before sweet to come. It's so it's it's so funny when
you see like you always talk aboutthe moderation and portions on the show and
how they did things. Even theice cubes were portioned. Just twelve,
(15:39):
yeah, twelve of them in there, that's all. And when the twelve
is out, that's that's all thatthere's gonna be. If you look in
the refrigerator, here too, guys. You know, it's one of the
very sweet things about leave It theBeaver Show and everything is there, you
know, they're all this kind ofstuff, the little frozen foods which were
really new. Yeah, he talkedabout him on the one the Chinese food
that he had in one of theearly earlier Yeah, he had talked about
(16:02):
the frozen foods on one of theepisodes. He was teasing June about it
because June had just gotten back fromsomething and she was making dinner and he
says, oh, you mean thefrozen dinners from the Chinese food. Now,
just to let people know what's goingon here is Juna's informing them that
they, you know, even thoughtheir father said he could take them,
(16:23):
they have to stay there for AuntMartha and she's going to be there.
Yep. I'm like the Uncle Billyepisodes. That's funny because Uncle Billy was
Captain Jack from episode two. Yes, yeah, well what's his name,
Edgie Buchanan, famous act? Yea, he was Captain Jack. The kids
are getting real moody here, wouldn'tyou that was a kid? Ye had?
Your plans? Is the last dayin town, but PM Martha's coming
(16:47):
out there's a with the general's life. There's a lesson here, there's a
lesson here. I don't know,you know, it's it's interesting. I
mean, I'm a parent. Myoldest is going to be twenty three this
year, so it's, uh,it's not like I don't understand both perspectives
and see them. I get theboy's perspective more for sure. But there's
(17:07):
there's something that they're gonna do hereand in the show here that there's got
to be like a give and takehere. Look at these Look they're dressed
in their suit because their aunt.Yeah, they got to be in their
suits us. Yes, they're intheir suit to see Martha. Yes,
oh boy. I can remember mySunday school teacher coming over for dinner,
(17:27):
mister Ward, and it was thesame thing. He was such a nice
man. Ward just accepts it thoughhe knows the he knows the rituals that
he has to, you know, perform as the husband too, so he
this obviously isn't on Ward's top plansfor a Saturday or so, but he
(17:48):
feels for the boys too. Weunderstand they're thinking that they're they're kind of
thinking though that when they get thereshe's gonna stay and visit for a little
bit and then head out. Yeah, they think she's gonna be in and
out in forty minutes or less thanhe's gonna have new look at how important
(18:08):
it is to June, and she'sgiving them the rundown and everything. You
know how much she wants them tolook nice and perfect in front of Anbartha
and her friend. I love it. While he goes, let beef look
at the corny car. Now thewoman who plays missus Hathaway there, the
(18:33):
general's wife. She looks like,Oh my god, what a famous character
actress. And if I had mybeaver Pedia out each, which I don't,
I would, I could get hername from it. She's very,
very famous. She's been a millionShe looks like such a snoot though,
Well she's like that very stern oldwoman, that old ant. Yeah see,
(18:53):
I wouldn't have dug having an auntlike that. They would have come,
I would have. I wouldn't haveliked it, no way, wouldn't
have been my cup of tea. She's still upset about that misdirection that she
got from a running gay. Yeahthat's and Beaver wants to wipe that kiss
(19:14):
off. You didn't like that kiss. I can just imagine what those what
Aunt Martha and her friend had, that scent of perfume, that they had,
that overpowering ascent of that time. You know. Yeah, I don't
know how many of you can do. When you watch these episodes, can
go down memory lane. I canremember, Uh, she's I'm sounding like
my father, but I am seventythree now. I mean the women wearing
(19:36):
white gloves, little time next watchthere or they would ever he's scoping out
or watch already. Oh yeah,Brenda said, Hey, Brenda, I
feel sad for the boys. Yeah, they got to miss You don't want
to see that for the kids. That's why I said, I can understand
it from both perspectives, but Irelate to just differently in times that I
would if that was my kids andthey were excited to do that, I'd
let them go to the carnival. That's me, you know, No,
(19:57):
that would have been very rude backin the day. Yeah, oh,
I mean back in the day youwouldn't do that, and our times,
you know, of course, itcomes across a little different. So Aunt
Martha's understanding though, I think thatshe would understand that I think this is
a show for me, and Isee a lot of it. I guess
I'm sensitive to it because I seeit as I get older. There's such
(20:19):
rampant agism. Yeah, I meanthere is even back then. It's like,
you know that people were obsessed withthe old days and all that other
kind of stuff like that, andthey were patronizing them, you know,
give them some of your time infavor and everything else like that. You
know what's funny those here is likethey portray Aunt Martha in the General's wife
(20:40):
to be like they're just these old, old old women that you think,
I think when they talk about them, yeah, or the way they're dressed
or the way that they act here, you think they're in their eighties,
you know, or something like that. Maybe maybe because June and Ward at
this time wouldn't have even been fortyyears old probably for both of them,
and Martin's a in her friend here, probably early sixties. But if you
(21:03):
look at them and how they dressedand acted at this time, to me,
it looks like they're like in theirlate eighties, like they're one of
the golden girls. He used tosay. With women, of course,
they would look matronly Yeah, thatwould be the term matron. Even Ward
looks older in the context of things. When you look at him now,
it looks like he's in his midfifties. Yeah, and he's probably the
reality of when this was done washe was probably I would say, late
(21:26):
forties. Maybe I have no idea, you know, maybe I'm wrong on
him. Maybe he is in hisfifties here, because he looks every bit
in his fifties here. You wouldn'tthink to me if I saw him that
he'd be having a young son likethe Beeve. That's just my opinion.
No, that that that you wouldYou would see that in these television shows.
You know. I'll tell you tho, if I, if I could
(21:48):
have one like wish should be Ihave a time machine to go back and
see times like this and experience. So yeah, some of the people will
go back in all the olden timesof history and things to be able to
have that amazing trick. If thegenie could give you something that you want
to absolutely to go back and justsee what it was like and you know,
different places and differ, absolutely, because all of our generations are different.
(22:08):
Yes, and you have to realizethe older that you get that you're
not. It's not just your generationyou might be if you hit to be,
if you live to be seventy oreighty or nine year old, you're
actually going through three generations. Yep, every twenty years being a generation Deffer,
says Madge Kennedy Aunt Martha and IreneTedrow is a miss Hathaway. She
(22:30):
has she has her repedia. Yes, I have repeat see. That's why
you got to get the bea repetiafor everybody out there. Shout out to
Brian Hummock's book. You can findit on Amazon and through his website.
You can email him directly your messagehim. Great book. The General's Wife,
missus Hathaway. She's on at leastI think two Twilight Zone episodes that
I'm familiar with, and a millionother Westerns and so on and so for
(22:56):
fun show to watch, just foryou know, Twilight Zone. I'm original.
You love them, they're your favorites. You know, I've seen some
of them but never watched them.Religiously incredible. That's want to be a
fun change up one day to gosee is a twilight Zone? Does she
call them the natives? Oh yeah, oh yeah? And you know you
(23:18):
see Ward laughing. You know, they're kind of patronizing her whatever. People
now see that now that's such aninnocent question. That would be like such
a big inappropriate thing at the table. Yeah, it shows the lack of
depth of culture that was at thattime too, for the different parts of
the world. He thinks somebody fromanother country because they're talking about another country,
(23:41):
that they eat people in other countrieslike that. Well, actually,
you know, there were there weresocieties that did things like that at that
point in time, but it's it'sthe way they viewed everything because nobody would
scope be doing these out of overseastrips, you know at that at that
time, right, nobody's hopping ona plane and take in their family in
Mexico. No, actually they werereally yes, wow, yeah, yeah,
(24:04):
it would be your saily mistaken onthat. I feel you'd have to
be somebody that was a richer, big money to do That's what I'm saying.
Yeah, I'm saying in that circumstance, like now, it's a little
different, people can pick up anddo that and do it really easy,
So you wouldn't. That's the fairnessto it, though. Well, the
generations wouldn't put themselves into debt. There were no credit cards to do that
stuff for you. You know, there were people that I knew that failing,
(24:29):
and they were fairly affluent. Theylived their entire lives in the New
York State, in New Jersey. It was just saying, yeah, technology
times, you know, and thingsthe way they are now. This isn't
a knock on them. It's justthe way that they saw it. It's
like, because it wasn't a commonthing to hop on an airplane to go
to another country. It wasn't common. People could do it, yes,
but people did that. Or theyalso got on the Queen Mary or the
(24:52):
Queen Elizabeth, you know, steamshipsand things like that. But anyway,
on this thing that the guys arein trouble now with the the guys here
that Martha and Missus Hathaway aren't leaving, Blumpy obviously is complaining and everything else
like that, and they want togo to the carnival. They don't want
to go, Tom said Fred Rutherferwent to Mexico once the Fair Job episode.
(25:15):
Yeah, and Germany too, AndI think he also saw something.
I think he was in South Americawith to miet you Pachu whatever it is,
Manchu Punta then Peru. Yes,gest a trip there on the don't
know if you saw it did looklike it was part of the uh,
(25:38):
you know act that he was supposedto. I don't know that. Look
at these guys with this is thisis really cute. The the coffee pot
a certain style of coffee. Thatcoffee looks so good that he's gotten the
coffee pot right there. You knowthere are stoves and refrigerators like this.
Now that I know you guys arewearing that out there, don't you just
(25:59):
put the coffee pot in the freezerbecause he wants to cool it down so
they can get rid of him. That's great. Nervous, Well, she
is nervous, and she looks somuch like a mother here. Look at
the dress and her cardigan sweater andpearls and everything. What a what a
(26:22):
flashback? Look at the mean lookshe just gave them. Though. She
is being very direct this episode.Yes, because she's a very decent person.
You have a very important person toher. This a very real show,
(26:45):
Yeah, this particular one. BarbaraBillingsley is doing such a phenomenal job
flipping up her normal here of beingthe loving, doting mother to the stern
disciplinarian in this instance because this affectsher directly. But you see what the
boys, they have a ton ofrespect for their mother too. Yes,
you know they listen when June givesthem the business a little bit. She
(27:07):
listened. Here's here's a classic overhere where my aunt Corey used to do
the same thing. Uh huh.I'd always get a shirt that was two
times too small and I'd have totell, oh, yeah, I wore
it, or whatever it was youput it on the one time they come
whatever Beaversus is too big right now, back to them as directed, Yes,
(27:37):
the boys are definitely excited for themto be finally leaving, but it
ruined their plans fully. If you'reinto old movies or character actress again with
Missus Hathaway, you know you shouldsee the films. You should see the
pictures of these actresses and actors whenthey were young. She was actually a
strikingly beautiful woman. Really, here'swhat they're giving would being a nice guys
(28:00):
gonna take him there, But they'regiving him the business now it's not good
enough for them. You know,it's two hours, that's their time.
You know, there's there's they're justsulking. They got boo boo face going
on right now, Look at war. He's checking this out now. Sorry,
Yeah he feels bad though, Yeah, I think he feels bad.
(28:25):
But I think he feels that's notnice what they're doing. I can remember
asking you, guys, you andyour sister many times and say, hey,
come on, can you guys justyou know, with your mother or
whatever it is, or can youjust chill out for a little bit now
you you basically could most of thetime, but your sisters sometimes would really
keep it up. Yeah, youknow. She was just that kind of
a person. And then I woulddo that with my father. I got
(28:49):
him good today, folks. Butshe's, Oh she's mad. You can
see it in her eyes and herfacial features. Yes, I think there's
actually some good acting here. Ithink it's phenomenal acting here from barbar Barbara
Billingsley is doing a phenomenal job hereflipping up her normal look at war.
(29:10):
This is a really one. Youknow. I don't know what you guys
think. This is a really beautifulinterchange. My wife doesn't. She's not
a huge fan of Leave It toBeaver, but she was watching this today
when I was looking at it againand she loved it. She loved it.
Look at that bedroom with the oldbrass lights there the oh my god.
(29:33):
This is a first right here forme with Wally. Wally is really
ticked at Ward right now and mothertoo. Yeah, but Ward a lot
because he doesn't can you believe thenerve of him, you know, wanting
to take us into the carnival likeeverything's okay or something that you know,
to the extent of that. Younever see Wally do that about his dad
this time. This is a firstfor me with Wally. It's a beautiful
(29:56):
scene here. That's why. Yeah, here's the minister in them all the
time just comes down. I loveso good do I Ever, He's a
timeless classic. This whole show isalways guys. He puts it out there.
(30:23):
That's the way that is. Theylook forward to seeing. They're kind
to their teacher's mother. They andMartha took care of their mother when she
was a young person. Maybe soanyway, he's given them a lesson,
and it's an important lesson about aboutlife and things. Sometimes you have to
do things you don't want for otherpeople, absolutely, and you got to
(30:44):
be selfless, not selfish, soa little more pleasant, messed up our
whole dam. It's a lot offun. But find out as you go
along. But there'll be lots oftimes as you have to make yourself a
little unhappy in order to make otherpeople absolutely right. Great line. Sorry,
(31:08):
we're just listening there for a secondyear. Yeah, it's a beautiful
thing, you guys. You know, you know what I like about him,
and I love about the characters.Even when he's given them a lesson.
He's not hollering at him in thisinstance, and hollers at him sometimes,
but in this instant he's teaching thema lessons with some good guilt.
I felt I saw this, Icouldn't believe it because I went to the
(31:29):
movies on Thursday to see a moviethat my wife wanted to see that it
was just awful for me. AndI'm gonna I'm gonna not tell the story.
And look Warbart Billingsley's face here. She really looks like she's gonna cry.
She really reminds me of a sisteror mother or my wife or whomever
when they're angry. In her thesesaid great lessons in this episode. That's
(31:51):
all you know. But this isan important lesson for Wally and the Beeve
is they have to eat a littlehumble pie right now. But look at
wally face even more than he loveshis mother. Yeah, he gets it.
He said, he's a good guy, he's a good egg. beeB
doesn't get it yet. No,look at her. Look at it.
(32:12):
This is you could take You couldtake still photos of this and like if
you were doing a paint. Lookat her face, the acting there and
the change and her smile. Whata beautiful moment. I didn't think you
mind getting up for me. Mygod, it just makes you want to
(32:34):
cry if you if you ever loveda mother, I could see just Grandma
and her every time you know yourmom? Yeah, yeah, I could
just see that every single time whenyou see her in it sure, how
she dressed, how she did things, how she carried herself. Oh,
sometimes we'd have a fight, grandmaeye, and then I would sit there
and make up with her. Grandpawas no word cleaver. He wasn't his
(32:55):
own way though. Actually when hegot older he was as nice as work
then something maybe more. But asa younger man, for which is definitely
not, he'd knock you right out. But as a as a grandfather in
a different case. Wonderful he was, in my opinion, he was more.
He'd learned. He taught you morelessons to you know, things that
(33:15):
you could learn in life, betterthan a ward leader. Grandpa never wanted
to never put foot in a church. You never want any part of that.
I mean it was the best ChristianI mean I wanted no part of
that. Did he ask her togo to the carnival, Yes, and
(33:36):
she has a sweet moment, doesthe same thing. She definitely doesn't want
to go. But you see itin her face and watch the end of
the show. Here not complaining toyou, was just saying, make it
a comment. Look if they're allback to being happy and on balance again.
I just couldn't picture June Cleaver oncarnival rides. Well, it wasn't
(33:58):
about them on the riots. Hewas watching your Yeah, those are things
you didn't get the opportunity to domuch because they were with their friends.
I'm sure that people think this isso hokey. You know many people and
they have such a different messages. To stop doing all the stuff for your
kids and families, You got todo it for yourself. These people in
the show what they project is thefamily and your community and your friends and
(34:22):
your family. It's everything. Itwas a good episode, really wonderful.
I really really did enjoy that one. I didn't think it was going to
be one of those ones where I, you know, where I gravitated towards
it a little bit. But no, it's a sweet one. Yeah,
that's a sweet one. The nextone will be season two, episode thirteen,
next Saturday, is called the HappyWeekend. I do not remember what
(34:45):
is in that one. I donot know either, And you know,
I can't recall that one off thetop of my head. Well know it
on the next time though, ofcourse, Yes, let's see. Brenda
said, I love the ending.Absolutely, it's sweet, Brenda, it's
not hokey. Awesome. Absolutely,I agree, it's not hoky. Yeah.
Absolutely. That was a really reallyfun episode. It was a good
(35:07):
time. I really really enjoyed thatone a lot. I liked seeing June
in this. June really stood outso well in this role here, and
you saw so many layers to BarbaraBillingsley as an actress. What you know,
as I saw that throughout the show, you saw her take her character
to the different side where she wasmore authoritative. She was more disciplinarian like
with them because it was important toher. And then she got right back
(35:30):
at the end through her disappointment asthe mother that was still having lessons to
learn, and at the end shelet loose a little bit and got to
have some fun with her kids. You know, I don't know what you
guys think where it's this one pictureis worth a thousand words and everything else
like that. And it's one ofthe nice things that shows like this.
I just love them, and Iknow that you guys love them too.
(35:50):
It could be the Andy Griffiths show. There are moments in these shows shadow
Lake next week, Yeah, theygo to the cabin. I remember that
episode now, But just finishing thatthought, and forgive me again, I
don't think I'll ever forget June's facein there. It's almost like the director
whoever did that. There's classic movies, which I won't name a million of
(36:14):
them. I'm'm real fan of thosethings, but just how our facial expressions
change. It's not just a sillycomedy from the fifties and sixties. It's
a really poignant and beautiful moment. You know, like if you had a
World War two thing and the soldiersthere and it's just a beautiful family moment.
And boy, if that doesn't that'sthe wonderful part of shows like this.
(36:35):
They can, they go across theages and you see people who really
can in these little ensemble kinds ofthings really portray very important things in the
human experience. To me, Ijust love them. Amans Is as always,
you guys are and are great today. Thank you so much. Am
(36:57):
Marba said, that's a good one. Yeah, that's a fun episode.
I do remember that episode now,you guys mentioned the the scenery on.

of time. Just again, Ilove sharing us with you guys, and
I wish we were all sitting ata bar a restaurant and having a coffee
or a beer or whatever is andcould watch the show together and hear it
(37:19):

same place. We try to behere every Saturday night at seven thirty pm.

take the Chiefs twenty bucks. Younever bet up, I never bet.
You're gonna pay up? Never bet? Why not? You didn't pay up
(38:06):

left it up here for all? When I paid the mortgage that month?
I wait, I loved the extramoney I did. I swear to God
you did. Should I take thebet? I don't bet, folks.
As we close this out tonight, you know, should I take the bet?
Here? Take the bet? Man? I never bet because I always

let me down tomorrow night, brockPurty, I'm taking your bet twenty bucks
on Party and forty nine ers,so we'll see. I'm not I'm not
going to lose the time, becauseI'm always losing every time I bet somebody.

dying. You're in the game.Just to pay me twenty dollars is no
sweat to me in any bit oflife. I don't want to give it
(38:47):
up. I don't like to giveup. I am such a conservative person
with money. Yeah, that toois a chiefs kick on some things.
Yes, I am very conservative,Ama says, why not make the bet?
All right, I'm playing. I'msending you to all right everybody,

twenty dollars, I'll bring whatever twentyis gonna buy something. You guys can
give me an idea of something.Whoever the loser is next week? Hold
(39:30):

Whoever the loser is next week, has to pay on air at the end
of the next week's episode air.So you see that, you see that
they're coughing up the twenty bucks.I want you to cough that up to
me. I'm not coughing. Inever used bad language on the thing.
I'm not coughing up here. It'sgonna be on the other week. He
never on air. On there,I'm saying that I'll cover my bet.
(39:51):
