In the PodKaz for Nov. 26, 2025, hosts Nicole Haase and Todd Milewski talk about Minnesota State's sweep of then-No. 2 Minnesota in a home-and-home series, fueled by four goals by Mercury Bischoff over the two games.

The other WCHA series last week also produced some interesting results, with Ohio State sweeping Minnesota Duluth, Wisconsin needing a late rally to overcome St. Thomas in overtime and Bemidji State emerging on top of a wild game against St. Cloud State.

Princeton swept Quinnipiac in ECAC Hockey, while Clarkson earned wins over Brown and Yale. Cornell hit another bump with a 4-3 overtime loss to Union, then had a 2-2 tie at Syracuse on Tuesday.

Saint Anselm and Penn State took care of business to extend their leads in the NEWHA and Atlantic Hockey, respectively. And Northeastern and UConn gained series sweeps in Hockey East.

Looking ahead to the coming weekend, the D1 in DC tournament features Colgate, St. Cloud State, Clarkson and Ohio State. And there's a big nonconference series between Penn State and Northeastern in Boston.

Nicole's appearance on "Jeopardy!" is scheduled to air Thursday but football could force TV schedule changes. See updates for your area here.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Usccho dot com. Hi, and welcome to the Thanksgiving week
edition of the podcast. Todd Maleski and Nicole Hasey here
from us Echo dot com. Nicole, this has been a
really interesting first couple of months of the season. We're
starting to see some things move into positions where we're

(00:26):
able to tell a little bit more about what the
NPI means, what conference standings mean. Have some real secure
leaders and a couple of the conferences, but there are
occasional sweeps that are occasional sweeps that really capture your attention,
and one of those for me last week was Minnesota
State with the home and home sweep of Minnesota number

(00:46):
two rank Minnesota, the Mavericks first sweep of the Gophers
since two thousand and six. I guess just your thoughts
on that in terms of I guess what that means
in the big picture.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Oh, I mean, I think that are really rough, really
rough for the Gophers in terms of their fight with
Wisconsin and Ohio State at the top of the conference. Obviously,
we there's plenty time left to see for those two
teams also take hits, but those that's that's a lot
of drop points and just a big blow in terms

(01:21):
of like, if these are all teams that are.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Going to have a minimum a lot, a minimal amount.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Of losses all season, those are two that nobody was
counting on. For the Gophers, I imagine it's going to
be a very interesting couple of weeks in their locker
room because those weren't flutes, those weren't stolen winds. Minnesota
State outplayed and just went out and executed their.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Game planned pretty much perfectly.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
It's the only time they've ever beaten the Mavericks, I'm sorry,
in the Gophers by more than one goal, like they
had actually in that second game, just had full control.
Like there they they went up and it kind of
seemed like there was no like there was no doubt
to me that they were going to win that second game,
particularly the more went on. And so yeah, I think

(02:08):
there's all that reasons a lot of questions for the Gophers.
I don't think it's, you know, by any means, you know,
a death knell for them in terms of anything. I
just think it's we've got some things to look at
and some work to do. But I do think that
if it comes down to some slim margins at the
top of the conference at the end of the season
or even in NPI, like that's the weekend the Gophers

(02:28):
are going to.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Lament absolutely three to one it was for the Mavericks
on Friday at Ritter. The Mavericks took the lead with
three twenty left in regulation on Ava Gillamet goal.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Brilliant goal.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Mercury Bischoff whose name you'll hear again in a minute,
a goal and two assists, and then it moved back
to Mankato on Saturday for a four to.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
One win for man Cato.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Like you said, not really in a lot of question
there toward the end thanks to a hat trick from
that Mercury Bischoff, a name We're going to hear a
lot because I love the name, so I'm just going
to keep mentioning it at anytime she she does anything.
And a shout out to Hailey Hanson for yeah, yeah, right, absolutely,

(03:13):
we've shout out to Haley Hansen for for a couple
of great games and goal for the Mavericks there in
a deserved climb up standings into fifth in the w CCHA,
which is, as we know, not a bad place to
be other than having, you know, if that's where you
finish up, you have to go on the road still
in the first round of the playoffs. But I think

(03:34):
fifth place is a pretty respectable position when you talk
about the WHA, considering who the top four are.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
For sure, and I think it's the place that all
the other teams, you know, the not top four teams,
want to be. And honestly, it's not where we thought
Mankito would be. Right, We've been talking about Saint claud
State sort of is that fifteen presumptive for a little
while now. So so kudos to make Kato for sort
of leaving in themselves.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I thought it was really interesting.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Sherry Dickerman after the games to their coach at Mankato
was kind of like, no, I wasn't surprised. No, this
isn't a big shock. I mean, like you could hear
her team, you know, sort of screaming in the locker
round locker room.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
In the background.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
But she this is She's like, this is what we're
capable of, this is what we believed in. This is
like we knew this was possible, and so her players
bought it on that too, right, And that's that's the
biggest thing. But yeah, it's a huge huge, huge outcome
for Mankato, I think.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
To build on to sort of announce themselves.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
It's like, hey, this name Cloud is not the presumptive
fifteam and and just yeah, really, I think just shows
some massive growth in that program. You know, Sherry has
been there a couple of seasons now really putting her
imprint on it, and it's those are the sorts of
things that they you have to do in a program
in that position is just keep getting those those sort
of markers that are gonna draw the attention and help

(04:55):
you bring in recruits and all the little things that
have to build together.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Absolutely, Let's take a quick spin around the rest of
the WHA from last weekend. Having there were interesting results
in all four series last weekend, Ohio State getting a
sweep at number five Minnesota Luth the Buckeyes where it
over third. They've moved up to number two after Minnesota
moved down in this week's rankings three to one on
Friday behind two goals from Joy Done and Joy Done,

(05:25):
and then had a goal to assists on Saturday in
a four to one win in that in that Friday games,
going to stop fifty shots for Duluth and just didn't
get the goal support, which I feel like is a
a refrain we've heard before that, especially against Ohio State.
I mean, they've had some some decent results there, but

(05:46):
I've gascon Is keeping them in it a lot of
times and it it just doesn't work out on the
goals end for them.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah, and shout out to Ohio State because I think,
you know, in the this is a better you and
the offense sort of top to than we've seen in
the past few years in my opinion, at least as
a team capable of scoring goals, that is, scoring goals regularly,
and they were still held in check. So you know, again,
I can only do so much, but I think it
says a lot that even with sort of this more

(06:16):
prolific offense, with what UMD can do offensively this year,
that Ohio State was still really able to hold onto
the puck as long as they were get that many
shots on goal and really keep um D from doing
much on the other end of the ice.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Number one Wisconsin got a sweep of Number fifteen Saint Thomas,
but that was an interesting finish to the series and
not so interesting on Thursday eight, nothing for the Badgers,
but then Friday, the Badgers fall behind, come back to
take a two to one lead. Then Tea and Cool
and Camp and Riley Bart's score goals in the third
to give Saint Thomas the lead. With six fifty three left,

(06:54):
the Badgers have to go to an extra attacker get
a goal redirection goal from Kristen Simms after with about
ninety seconds left, and then it looks like the Badgers
have a winner at the end of regulation on a
buzzer beater, and Kristen Simms throws the puck at the
net from the goal line extended to the left. It

(07:14):
goes in off the goalie. There's there's a celebration. It's
right at the horn. It's hard to tell from the
naked eye whether it was in in time. Everyone goes
over to the video replay and we see that the
horn did sound of the clock reached zero with the
puck still out of the net, so probably three tenths
or four tenths off from making that a regulation win

(07:36):
for the Badgers. But Cassie Hall did score in overtime
for Wisconsin to get five points out of that series
that the shots attempted in that second game ninety four
to twenty eight for Wisconsin and they almost still lost.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Is kind of amazing and kind of.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
One of those throwback Badger game.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
It was very much so.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
And you know, if you're Saint Thomas there, you're you're
that close to getting what would have been just a
remarkable win. From having lost eight nothing one night to
coming back and leading the Badgers in the last two
minutes at Lebon on the second night.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Of a series.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Absolutely, I think, I mean, this is kind of what
I've been saying, we get, and we got, like how
does the team go from losing at oh to almost
upsetting the top team in the country, Like the dichotomy
of the series that we're seeing are It was just
like kind of blowing my mind, and I like, I
really truly feel like I have no idea what's going
to happen from day to day. But we have talked
in weeks past about sort of the transition game for

(08:38):
Saint Thomas and how they've been able to use their speed,
and that's what we saw from them on Saturday, Like
those two third period goals had everything to do with
them breaking out and like taking advantage and finding that
open that open nights basically, and I don't know if
if the Badgers were just complacent about it after the
Adoh win, or you know, some of it was preying.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
On some of the last experienced defenders.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
But yeah, it was exactly what Saint Thomas has done
to teams all season, and it just they weren't able
to put it together on Friday and on Saturday, Bay
they found a lot of open ice in those breakaways.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
They made them count.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
And those I mean people who haven't been a round
a ton When I say that's a throwback Badger game,
there was what do we talking made twenty tens When
there'd be over up, they'd be triple digit Badger shot
attempts and they'd score one or two goals. Like they
they went everywhere but in the net. And it's very talented,
Like we're talking teams that are we're full of players
that are still Olympians on both the USA and Canada.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
But you would just watch be Ellie.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Clark and they're a nurse and some of those players
and it would, Yeah, the Bachelor's went up with like
a hundred shot attempts and two goals.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
That's how that kind of felt that game. We haven't
seen that from them in a while, No, if.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
That's very true.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Uh. Fun one in Bamidgia on Saturday, where did you say,
led Saint Claus out four to one going into the third,
but then the Huskies reel off four in a row
Sidney Lamb, Peyton Holloway, Grace Wolf, Laura Zimmerman to give
a Saint Claude lead with four and a half minutes left.
Issa Gettel gets a goal back for Bamigi with an

(10:14):
extra attacker on the ice and thirty thirty one seconds left,
and then the Beavers win it in overtime on a
Hailey Armstrong goal. That's one of those love to see
the win percentage charts on that game where you know
you're probably ninety some percent going to the cliff, falls
off a cliff and then comes back they were right
in the end of regulation and then back to the

(10:36):
top again for Beamigi. Yeah, that's a that's a weird
way to end a series there.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I mean kudos Tombidji because giving up four in a row,
and like I want to say, it was four in
like eight or nine minutes. We even most it was
the third period. It was a really short stretch. Midgie
gives up those four to go down in a game
that they'd been leading the whole time, and the fact
that that didn't count them out right, like that they
got that last minute goal that they won in overtime,
Like that says a lot about what the team, the

(11:05):
team's character and just those are the sorts of things
that you like you got to dig deep for and
like when it comes to February and March, like, that's
what you can remember, like what you're capable of and
what you've done in the back. I feel like the
sort of confidence that that builds and the sort of
memory bank that you build on on wins like that
is what can be the most important part that when
you're in a tough situation later you could be like,

(11:26):
but we've already done this, We're good. So yeah, that's
the game was bonkers. Just the third grade was like, wait,
what is happening here.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Let's hope we have more of those kinds of games,
says we get toward the second half of the season,
when I mean it's it's gonna be a fight for
some spots of the standing. So if you have games
like that, that's gonna make it even more entertaining. Yeah,
let's turn toward the ECAC.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Now, where we had a series uh work.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
We've talked in the last few weeks about Quinnipiac doing
really well, but last week they they fell off a
little bit, got swept by Princeton four to three in
overtime on Thursday, and then two nothing on Saturday. Uh
Uma cornea cornea with forty sayers in the Saturday game?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Is he wonder Riley's sorokn with the goals? What are we?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
What should we looking at there? I mean, Princeton is
a team that's done fairly well for themselves at points
so far this season. Quinn pack we we thought was
on a pretty good role and then has has hit
a few bumps lately.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Well, first of all, if you don't haven't seen the
overtime game winner from Thursday, please do yourself a favor
and go find it. Princeton, cheering at the ECAC has
shared it. But is he wonder falls gives the trip? However,
you want to say it's not a great camera angle,
so I won't. I will I will not say we
know for sure what happens, But she's racing up the ice.
Uh she ends up you know, on her butt on

(12:55):
the ice and then on her side as she's lightning,
and she still makes up perfect pass across the ice
to hit the tape of Is McKinsey Alexander, who scores
the h winner.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Just an absolutely beautiful play that controlled the way that Izzy.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Didn't give up when you know, fingers went a little
sideway there, I guess quite literally sideways.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
I wasn't trying to make a pun, but yeah, just
just a beautiful goal.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I mean, Princeton's a team that hasn't been super consistent,
and that's why it's hard. They do stuff like this
and you're like, okay, I've bought in, and then then
it doesn't go so well, and so you're like, but
you know, if they're nine and four, but they needed
over time to beat RPI.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
You know, they they lost an overtime to Yale.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
It's like, I'm never quite sure They've got one to
wins over Clarkson, but then lost the next day to
Saint Lawrence and then so it's like, I don't know,
they're winning against teams that probably should be beating them,
and they're losing against teams they should probably be beating
a time, and so it's hard to like really get
a grasp. I'm like, what this team's gonna do week

(13:58):
in and week out. I think that was a real
impressive weekend. They think they we record on Tuesdays, they
beat you and overtime again today, like they're putting together
a good stretch and so like maybe it just was
a bit of that IVY League starts a little later.
Need to figure out, you know, themselves, the losing Sarah
Paul and and sort of figuring out who it is

(14:18):
they are this season, and things will be maybe things
will be a little you know, smoother from here on out.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
But they're not a team might overlook.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
But it's hard right now to like believe or like
feel secure and being like, yes, they are solid, they
are going to win these games.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Because I just maybe I don't feel that way about
anybody anymore.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
But it was, Yeah, it's there's enough questions there that
I'm not bought it in fully yet.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
One of the things that stood out for me Princeton
was able to hold kal In the Marsh off the
score sheet last weekend in back to back games. She's
now well out of point in your last three games,
which matches the number of games she didn't have a
point in over her first seventeen. So it's been a
really remarkable start to the season for her. And everyone

(15:04):
has their ups and downs and has their moments where
it's just not happening the.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Way it was earlier.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
And we may have just found one of those little
moments here for Quinn and.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Back and for LaMarsh.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
So I imagine that turns around again at some point because
we've seen how good she is.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Absolutely, I don't feel like by any means this says
something super profound about Quinnipiac. I still think they're a
very good team. I still think we're going to continue
to see them do those things. And I mean her,
for her pace was prying to get a little regression right,
like that's just that's going to happen. And unfortunately too,
like the longer she doesn't score, the more it'll probably

(15:45):
get in her head, like it's a difficult.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
It can get really difficult.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I think when you got all that attention to start
and then it feels then you feel the praccord to
keep performing.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
But I imagine that we will.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
We have yet to see the end of what she's
capable of this season, but Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
It's again. I think it's coming.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
We're heading into the break, when winter break, when the
students will be student athletes to be a little more
students than athlete for a little bit. And I think
it comes into good time for a lot of school
a lot of programs that just sort of need that
little reset, like where things have been going really well
and now there's some stumbles and there's time needed for
a reset. And I didn't actually mean to set myself

(16:24):
up for that, but that probably can take us to Cornell.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Huh, it can take us to Cornell. Because Cornell fell
to Union four to three and overtime on Friday, Maddi
Lini scoring her third goal of the game in overtime.
Union took the lead three times and then Cornell came
back each time to to equalize before Union finally got

(16:47):
the winner in overtime. Then Cornell on Tuesday had kind
of a head scratching to two tie with Syracuse at
Syracuse still a costa bile. I apologize if I am
mispronouncing that with the Tian goal for the Orange for
forty eight remaining.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
There and if your youth took the shutout or the
shootout shut out the shootout. Syracuse took the shootout when
as well they held Cornell completely off the board in
the shootout, which is also surprising.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
The way to go, way to go Syracuse.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
But yes, head scratcher is probably the nicest way to
put I don't know, I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
It's very strange. But Cornell after their great start is
when we say two, two and one in the last five.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
That sounds right, So yeah, it's uh, there's like, like
I just said, with players with teams, they hit ruts
in the ice sometimes and it's not easy to recover
from that.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
It takes a little while.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
But this is also what Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving game
that for sure, you always wonder how those turn out
after you've just played on the weekend. It's a busy
time of the year for school. Like you said, I
never know how much to put into Tuesday night results
Thanksgiving week.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
For sure, I think even still it's probably I feel
like even with that asterisk, that's a game we expect
Cornell to win.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
And uh yeah, I will see a.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Couple interesting tidbits that came out that came out of
the this week, particularly from Cornell and Union is Cornell
went more than two hundred minutes without scoring at even strength.
They played more than three it was like three weeks
and three plus games between even string goals. So they
had seven power play goals and two short handed.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Goals in that stretch.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
But I did not realize how much they were riding
their special teams, and like, I think that's probably something
they'll be looking at. It did not look from a
quick box score that on Tuesday that game that the
tie with Syracuse, that they had scored on special teams,
and so you know, again something to look at. But
just that's a that's a crazy long time and for
the number fourteen even the country to go between even

(19:04):
strength goals.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
A couple other results to mention from ECAC before we
move on. Number eleven Clarkson beating number twelve Brown four
to two on Friday behind a goal and an assist
from Janelle Evans, and number eleven Clarkson again getting a
three to two win over and number fourteen Yale on Saturday,
Lara Beacher go ahead goal with twelve eighteen left, Holly
Gruber making thirty six saves in that game. So Clarkson

(19:29):
getting back getting a little bounced back in the positive
direction the way that they I'm sure we're hoping to
see things go after the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
What I'm taking from this is we're talking about all
the top teams in the ECAC having sort of maybe
bobbles or up and downs, which just means that conference
is so wide open. What that sets to me is
we're going to have a lot of fun in the
final few months of the season to see how that
sort of all shap out.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yep, everyone's got eight conference games played. Cornell has eighteen points,
Clarkson seventeen and a half, Prince sixteen, Colgate fourteen and
a half, Quinnipiac thirteen and a half, Saint Lawrence thirteen.
It's it's pretty I mean, Okay, so that's the top one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight teams separated by five and a half points. So

(20:23):
there are seven teams, I guess. So let's uh, yeah,
we're gonna have some fun following that through the second
half of the season. Now, HAU I would tease this
last week an important series last weekend, and there uh
Saint Anselm with a sweep of assumption to extend its
lead atop the conference four to three in overtime on Friday,

(20:46):
two to one on Saturday. Brooklyn Schneider hand with the
overtime goal, her second goal of the game. In the
Friday game, after Assumption raced a three to one deficit
in the third, st ansel I'm getting the win there,
and then again on Saturday with a Grace Sterling goal
ahead goal with just over two minutes left. We're starting

(21:08):
to see that. I think, just like we've kind of
had Atlantic hockey in the Penn State category, I think
we're putting new high in the Saint Anselm category now
ten points ahead of Franklin Pearson, twelve up on Assumption.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Yeah, I still seems crazy to talk about that before
we've even hit to summer first, but I feel like
that was that was a statement weekend from Saint Anselm.
I think Assumption played really well and put up a
really good fight, and I think, you know, they're only
going to continue to get better.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
I need to remind.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
People that is a pretty new program, but yeah, I
felt like that essential weekend sweep from from Saint Anselm
was the I'm putting it firmly in their category until
somebody proves to me that there we should be thinking
something else.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Right.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Absolutely, Speaking of Penn State, had a good challenge from
ri T last weekend, but Penn State extended its unbeaten
run perfect dark on. We haven't lost yet this season,
haven't tied yet this season.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
Uh with a five to.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Three win on Friday, four to three win on Saturday.
That second game, Danika Maynard with the go ahead goal
halfway through the third period to put the Nickney Lions ahead.
Tasajanke two goals and three assists in the series. So
it's you know, Penn State's way up and I'm just
trying to pull up the page here and see how

(22:34):
far off the other They're eight. They have thirty six points.
The next closest as eighteen, and so yeah, they've they've
also played two more games, but I don't know that
that's going to matter in the end. UH. This is
this is a a classic race for second place in
Atlanta Cockey Over in Hockey East.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
A couple of results to.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Mentioned from last week involving the two ranked teams, their
Northeastern Number eight Threeston getting a sweep at Maine three
to one and two to one Number nine, Yukon getting
a home sweep of Vermont for nothing in six'. Three
they remain one and two In Hockey east by points,
percentage even Though Boston college has played a few more
games and has stayed, THERE i believe in second, place

(23:18):
and Holy cross is also up there with a few
more games. Played yukon has some games to make, up
and so we'll see how that. Goes But northeastern is
still nine and, zero unbeaten in conference, play and that's
we talked. About we're going to talk about this in
our next segment where we're talking About, northeastern we're talking
About Penn. State pretty close to each. Other they've got
a big one coming. Up but what do YOU i,

(23:38):
guess anything to take away from from what we saw.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
In Hockey east over the.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Weekend, first, NO i think you, know we we we've
been talking About northeastern and how they haven't been where they've,
been AND i think we're starting to see them get back.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
There we're probably not.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Talking enough About Lilly shannon in terms of the, scoring
not quite yet at the numbers of some of those
hot starts or going to be a little hard to,
catch but she's really leading that team and just made,
them you, know.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Unbeatable at this, point they've come from. Behind they just
kind of aren't out of any game right now In Hotty.
East AND i think they just have so much, experience
even if even if it's newer, players they just have
so much experience being at the, top being able to
hold that. Position AND i think.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
That's that's a hard habit to break from both, directions
right for, them but also for the teams used to chasing.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
Them All, right we will duck out for a.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Minute when we come, back we'll talk about what's coming,
up including some tournament play this. Weekend stay with us
on the. Podcast welcome back to the. Podcast Todd nicole
here with you to look ahead to what's coming up this,
weekend the Post thanksgiving. Games this, Week let's start with

(24:55):
the few of the TOURNAMENTS d one AND D c
being played IN i guess around our nation's. CAPITAL i
don't know if it's actually IN. DC i think it's
somewhere In, virginia but either. Way number Twelve colgate Versus
number Fourteen Saint Cloud state and number Ten clarkson versus
number Two Ohio state are The friday. Games the winners

(25:16):
and the losers play On. Saturday, NO i take that.
Back clarkson And Saint cloud play And colgate And Ohio
state play On. Saturday so the conference teams do not
face each. Other that is not a a bracketed. Tournament
it is a set. Schedule there are other ones that are,
bracketed but not this.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
ONE i mean.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
That looks, like you, know just from first, blush that's
a pretty good field for events for.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
TEAMS i, mean we love getting to see teams from
different conferences play each other really not just helps understand
what they see on but like sort of make some more.
Comparisons you, know when you see How Saint cloud plays Against,
colgate then you can see How colgate plays against other
teams their conference and in first, things but also just
four ranked, Teams like how fun that we would not

(26:05):
normally get a chance to. See AND i think everybody
has a little bit of something to prove, there, Right
like there's there's a rivalry a.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Bit between the.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
CONFERENCES ecac has really leveled up in the past few,
seasons and SO i, think, yeah there's there's a lot.
There you, Know Saint cloud wants to prodeve that even
with their, record they deserve the ranking that they, have,
Right SO i think while some of these tournaments might
be a little more, CASUAL i feel like this one's
going to be pretty. HARDCORE i don't think any of
those four teams is looking to take the weekend, off all.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Right The Nutmeg classic is being played At yukon with
the teams From connecticut number Eight yukon versus number Nine
quinnipiac On, friday And yale Plays Sacred. Heart this is
one where the winners do play On saturday with the
third place game as. Well The Yukon quinnipiac game is

(26:55):
one that has attracted my.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Attention.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, absolutely that should be stuper. INTERESTING i think they
played pretty different styles as, well so you, know similar
to what we said ABOUT d one IN dc is
that like you just get to infer quite a. Bit But,
QUINNIPIAC i think after last weekend is had some stuff
to prove And yukon being ranked above, them and, YEAH
i JUST i think we're getting some really maybe unintentionally

(27:23):
or luckily interesting.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Setups these are all you, know sort of played in
Advanced nutmeg is is every year they do, this AND
i think this is we're really lucky to see some
of these matchups this.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Year.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Yeap The Smashville showcase happens In Nashville, Friday, saturday And.
Sunday it's only three, teams so you get a a
day off for one of the teams in the. Middle
so Stone hill Plays Mercy Hurst, friday then has a day.
Off Mercy heris Plays wisconsin On, saturday and Then wisconsin
plays Stone hill On. Sunday interesting setup there for how

(27:57):
you can run. That but it's part of a larger
girls hockey showcase. Event you've got a lot of teams coming,
in so there should be a PRETTY i would imagine
teams that are playing be able to go and see.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
That it's a.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Nice event to get girls and women's hockey into an
area where THERE'S nhl, hockey and then you hope that
that encourages more girls' hockey development in that.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
Area.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
ABSOLUTELY i actually went maybe to the first one of
these when wisconsinplated it a few years. AGO i have
family In, memphis SO i went To thanksgiving In memphis
and then drove over To nashville the next. Day shout
out to anybody that's going to make sure you go
to the Correct Ford Ice center there are two of, them,
Right lessons. Learned but, yeah it is cool because it

(28:45):
is in the middle of this youth girls tournament and
so just the energy is. Amazing you're talking, about you,
know sort of that old.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Thing that we talked, about if they can, see if they.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Can be, it and in that area where there is
not college, hockey that's showing off what is.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Possible AND i think it's good to. SEE i, think you, know.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Probably from from a standpoint of the level levels of
each of these, squads it's maybe a little, unfair BUT
i think when you think of it in terms of
who the girls can, see the players that are there can,
see it's good to see sort of the different levels
of schools and sort of different options of what's available
and out there as A d one. Program and you,

(29:25):
KNOW i think everybody grows up if you're thinking about
GOING d one and you think of certain schools Like
wisconsin And minnesota And colgate and all those sorts of.
Schools but they need to know That stonehill And mercyhurst
are out there, too you. Know.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Absolutely The Mayor's cup Happens Saturday providence At. Brown that's
always a good one to pay attention to the intercity.
MATCHUP i guess of intra. CITY i always forget that
which way is. RIGHT i don't know they're from the same.
City they play a game On. Saturday it should be.
Exciting but the big one for me number Four Penn

(29:58):
state at number Seven Northeastern friday And saturday. Afternoons A friday.
GAME i believe it's a three thirty. Start that one
is On nessen if you have that available to, you
or it will also be ON espn. PLUS i assume
if it's part of the hockey's. Package this is one of. Those,

(30:18):
okay we've Seen Penn state roll up big numbers Against
atlantic hockey. Teams we've seen them take care of what
they've done in non conference games so. Far here's a
road tip to A northeastern team that has really done
some pretty good things.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Lately, YEAH i think it's A it's a really big
test for both of those, teams, right and both of
them are sort of eager to prove that they're.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Legit so that makes it fun all on its, Own
but just the matchup.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Too like we WERE i was, SAYING i Think Lily.
Shannon shannon's been an under underrated offensive threat you, Know
Penn state's Got Tessa, janicky but also many more threats
that are that are out there scoring it's not in
The Tessa. Show and SO i think both team depth
will be. TESTED i, think you, Know northeastern at, home
which is nice for, them less just that comfort, level

(31:06):
and they really love playing in front of their crowd At.
Matthews the nesson of it, TOO i think it's just
gonna be a lot of. FUN i JUST i have
no idea what the outcome is gonna. BE i, could you,
know talk myself in circles for either, TEAM i think
make a really good, case but uh, yeah this is
one of those ones WHERE i think we're both teams
really need to have a need to prove that they

(31:27):
are legit against unnationally ranked contending, team you, Know and
SO i think that's what's gonna make sort of the
pressure of that will make this extra fun to.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Watch, absolutely we'll be fun to watch that. One you
can check out the full schedule on usc cho dot.
Com but the game of the week really Is Nicole
Hasey Versus jeopardy because this is the week That nicole
makes her appearance on the. Television it is On, thursday

(31:59):
which means it probably has a decent chance of not
being on when it's supposed to be on in your.
Area do you want to talk a little bit about, That,
nicole and about a little bit more about just your.
Experience you've been posting on social media a lot of the,
pictures kind of the behind the scenes, things and it's
been really pretty.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Fascinating.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yeah because of football in most, places The jeopardy view
The jeopardy airing will be. PREEMPTED a very nice man
over On Blue sky who is apparently In Jeopardy supervian
has created A google spreadsheet that like lets you know
when that game will be replayed or if it won't be,
Replayed so we'll link to that on THE usdho story

(32:39):
about the has the links for podcasts in. It, otherwise
the show will be on Both peacock And hulu the next,
day so you should be able to watch it somewhere In.
Milachie that will be on at like twelve thirty On friday,
morning at least In. Milwaukee it's getting preempted for football
In madison by.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
YOU i thought it was.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Going to be on because it's not on a football, chain, Know,
oh they're replaying The macy's parade instead.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Football i'm, Getting i'm. GETTING i, mean.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
Nothing says humble like the replay of a more parade preempting.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
You, yeah, Well I'LL i should be In milwaukee anyway
for The milwaukee area for. Thanks do you have any
SO i would have missed that, anyway.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
BUT i maybe In, Madison so there you. Go, yes
it'll be on Both peacock And. HULU i double checked.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Everything.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Uh the episode number is nine four four, four which
is the important part when you're, checking because several.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Places also just Show.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Jeopardy, reruns like In, MILWAUKEE cbs fifty eight normally shows
A jeopardy re lun in the middle of the morning and.
See you want to make sure when you're if you're
trying to record that that's the episode, number and also
that you should extend it if you're on a station
that was showing, football because they will not keep a
regular schedule that, day so you should just do it
for a long. Time, otherwise just watch it on the
stream the next. Day i'm pretty sure they're on for

(33:53):
only a limited, Time, like don't plan to watch in two.
WEEKS i don't know that it will be any other
huhu or you gock? ANYMORE i Think.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Kulu is fine. Days so that's all that logistic, stuff but,
yeah it's been.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Fun You they record five episodes a, day and so
the episodes that are airing this week are the ones
THAT i was sitting in the green room for that, like,
uh the pool of contestants for that. DAY i was
in the green room with all of these, people and
so each of these episodes was. POTFLAW i could have
been on but my name wasn't. Pulled so some of
it's just fun to, share like the things we were
talking about in the green, room or like one things

(34:25):
were you know, challenged like what we, saw or there
was you, know spoiler. Alert there was a category today
On tuesday about odd. Museums In, wisconsin we have a mustard,
museum AND i knew that was gonna end.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Up being one of the.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Categories one of the questions in the, CATEGORY i think
it was the last one they ended up. Picking WHEN
i was, like, oh The mustard museum will be in.
There when it did come, up everybody kind of turned
and looked at.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Me so that was. Funny but, yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
It's just been trying to it's a it's a fascinating
process how this is all.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Gone and.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
WHEN i found OUT i was going to be on
AND i googled like various things trying to find what
people have written about. It most everything everybody's written About
jeopardy and their experiences from PRE covid and things are
just very. Different so just been trying to share a
little bit about how what that looks. Like and you,
know like things like you used to have to go
do and in person test is the third round and
that doesn't, happen or there used to be like shuttle

(35:15):
buses from the hotel and that didn't, Happen and they
give you like instructions on how to get there if you're,
driving but like if if you're, ubering they give you
tell you to go to the guest station across the
street because like the uber can't go Into sony. Pictures
so just very, silly little like logistical things like that
that are are funny to.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Me but, Yeah i've just been trying to share a little.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Bit and you, Know I'VE i recorded On october twenty,
first So i've for a Month i've been thinking about
all the little stuff and just just trying to share
some of the.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Details it's, uh.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
It was all little bit of a, whirlwind and some
of the STUFF i don't remember Till i'm watching the
episode And i'm, like oh, WAIT i remember now what happened.
Here so, yeah it's fun for me. Too So i've
been doing that on BOTH x And Blue, sky trying
to share some of that stuff people want to follow. Along,
YEAH i don't know if anyone's got, questions specific. QUESTIONS
i can't answer things about my episode to after my episode.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Airs that's WHAT i was gonna. Say we'll talk next
week about the actual, episode.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Right but, yeah the details twice it WAS i never
IMAGINED i would do.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
THIS i applied on a.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Whim that probably makes some people hate me because several,
people you, know people all of the, world are trying
to try to get down To. Jeopardy they like they
the producers tell, you Like Amy, schneider who's a super
champion and like a tournamented championshipion and she tried seven
different times she was in the playerpool and didn't get.
Picked AND I i did this all in three, Months

(36:37):
SO i had that to. Abnormal i'm really lucky in
some ways or that in other, ways like kind of
wish it did all happen so, fast and like it
was all happening at the start of hockey. Season you
may have noticed there were several late posts and things
like that because it was it was just there was
a lot going on at one, point but wouldn't change
it for.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Anything i'm glad THAT i got to do, it And
i'm really.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Lucky BUT i, also, like you, know in my stassyro,
moment And i'm doing The elwoods like, What like it's
hard from legally blonde and getting Into Harvard law just
BECAUSE i don't know what else to. Say everybody's, like
oh my, goodness And i'm loving this and it was
awesome And i'm happy to share. It and also it's
a lot of attention on me AND i really appreciate.
It and also It's i'm very awkward about. It so

(37:19):
If i'm awkward about, IT i. Apologize it's not. Personal
i'm just it's just. WEIRD i, LIKE i like being
on the other side of the, interviewing not not having
to be front and.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Center that's Why i'm in this line of. BUSINESS i
don't want anything to do with being asked. QUESTIONS i
don't want to be asking.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Them, YEAH i don't.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Love seeing myself on The you AND i are on
a zoom as we do. THIS i don't love seeing
myself here much less on national.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Television so, yeah well.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Take a walk if you have to while on and
and come back and then you, know then say and ask.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Wind.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah the good part of OUR i do not have
to watch it with my whole Was attle family On.
Thanksgiving now that was the PART i was. Dreading So
i'm very happy for everybody else to watch. IT i
just don't want to be there while you.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Do sure that's, fair all, Right, well we hope you
can make that a part of Your thanksgiving out. There
we hope you have a great holiday and you enjoy
the hockey that is coming after. It so that's going
to wrap it up for this weekend For.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Nicole I'm. Todd we'll talk to you next week on the.
