love One of the hardest things ofbeing in a band is coming up with
a name, you know, andit's one thing I love about the Local

(11:16):
He is one of the youth artistsfrom the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of

Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame Youth banddoing Baba O'Reilly from the Who's right unbelievable.

(11:43):
They went to rock lit Its recordedthe song and a killer video.
Dude, these kids are so incrediblytalented. It's one of the coolest things
I've ever seen in my life.Yeah, I mean, I know,
hyperbolea there. I mean, honestly, it's it's one of the proudest things
I think that the Hall of Famehas done. You know. We brought
together a collection of eight youth artistsraging from ranging from the ages of thirteen

(12:05):
to eighteen, and they're all hypertalented. Man, it's insane vocally,
instrumentally, it's it's wild. Whenis the video premiere? Is it this
Thursday night? That's right, thisThursday night, that's August tenth. It's
going to be at the Englewood sevenpm. We're inviting everybody involved in the
local music scene. We really wantto um, you know, kind of

(12:28):
pack the place and have a supportsystem there for the kids. So if
you're a local musician, if you'rea fan of local music, you know,
family friend, even a member ofthe press out there, you know
we want we want to pack thevenue and show these kids what the central
Pennsylvania music scene fan system can doto come out and chair them on.

Just Roger, This is the welcomeback to the Local Show. This
is the River ninety seven three partneredup with the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of
Fame, brought to you by renewalby Anderson of Central PA and the podcast
as well. Thank you for listening. Make sure you follow us on the

(13:54):
iHeartRadio app. Next up is anartist this past year one the Iron Woman
Award. That was an award wenewly created to reward both a male and
a female in the local area whoreally works their tails off. So you
consider some of the amount of gigsthat some of these local artists have,
you know, in some cases it'sfive to ten performances per week where they're

(14:18):
traveling. I'm incredible, right, and this one does it to the max.
It's Casey Walton. She is actuallymoving to Nashville, I think pretty
soon. She recorded this song andher full album or her EP with Stephen
Courtney. This is her single nextto You on the local show on the
River ninety seven three. I've seena postcard son sent back and make you

(14:41):
cry, a thousand colors filling allacross a canvas. Guy the commentation breath.
Maybe it ain't nothing next to you, And I've seen the mountains in
the distance lighting up like kings sohigh and mighty and the middle of these
little things close to heaven as itgets. Babe, it ain't nothing next

(15:05):
to you. Yeah. The worldis full of beautiful scenes people spend their
lifetime trying to see. But Iknow something about a perfect view. I
see it every minute I spend nextto you. Yeah, I'm hit it

(15:26):
every minute I spend next to you. I've seen the faces lining pages of
those magazines. The kind of prettyvowels mental light is silver screen, baby,

(15:46):
I just forget them every time I'mstanding next to you. Yeah,
the world is full of beautiful scenespeople spend their lifetime I'm trying to see,
but I know something about a perfectview. I see it every minute

(16:07):
I spend next to you. Yeah, I'm getting it every minute I spend
next to you. If you rightthere, I never want to close my
eyes. Maybe I could stand. It's something like that from my whole life.

(16:38):
Yeah, the world is full lovebeautiful scenes. People spend their lifetime
trying to see. But I knowsomething that they wish they knew. All
that ain't got nothing at them, boy like you. Yeah, I know
something better, perfect view. Isee it every minute I spend next to

(17:02):
you. Yeah, I get itevery minute I spend next to you.
Cool show on the River ninety seventhree, Still my mind, Lord,

(17:33):
I can't stop thinking. I mademyself at home in the quicksand sinking.
Lets his mom, baby showing thedoor. Low. He's my mind,
but my body is still shaking.Make myself at home in the quicksand sinking.

(18:07):
My name in my heart. Baby, that's you'll be taking. Don't
fall in love and your heart isstill thinking. Show me the way,
Just give me a day. Low. I can't play around here no more.
He's my mind, but my body'sdeath shaking. Make yourself at home

(18:30):
in the quicksand sinking. Make yoursup at home in the quicksand sinking.
You don't want to make your homein the quicksand sinking. Make your something
at home in the quicksand seeking.Still my mind, Lord, I can't

(19:04):
stop thinking, made myself at homeand the quicksand sinking. That it's more
baby showing the door though. Ican't play around here no more. It's
my mind, but my body isstill shaking. Made myself at home and
the chucks ain't sinking. Name memy heart. Maybe that sak gonna be
taking then falling low. When yourheart is still aching, show me the

(19:27):
way. Just give me a day. I can't play around here no more.
It's my mind, but my bodyis still shaking. Make yourself in
the home, make yourself at homein the quick saying sinking, make it

(19:47):
af the home in the quicksand sinking. You don't want to make your home
in the quick saying sinking, andmake yourself at home. That's Hunter Roots

(20:12):
on the local show on the Riverninety seven three quicksand sinking. How about
it, man, Hunter Root,He's got the Hunter Root Band. He's
got Medusa's Disco. Medusa's Disco iscoming out with a new album soon.
Hunter Route Band has already released anew album here, I think this past
month. He's recently spent some timein LA talking to a major record label

(20:33):
as well. So keep your eyeout on Hunter Route and speaking of,
you know, talking to a majorlabel. Oh my god. One of
the Central PA's favorite bands. Theystarted here when they were literally just kids.
Lizzie and RJ. Hale formed hailStorm back in the day and when
we used to have open mic nighton the River on Sunday nights. Mikel
Anthony Smith was the host and hewould have Lizzie and RJ and their dad

(20:57):
come in to the show and performlive in the studio. That's awesome,
I mean. And to look wherethey are now. They're on stage at
Hollywood Casino right now, open upfor Volbeat. They are in Central Pennsylvania
Music Hall of Famers. That's right. And you had an opportunity to catch
up with Lizzie and r J,so you were talking to them about how

(21:17):
they got their start. So RGand I it started out as just RG
and I as a duo, andwe started the band. Summer ninety seven,
we entered ourselves in a talent showthe Schuckoo County Fair of Central Pa.
Um and we and we rolled thereand we literally named the band in
the family van on the way tothat show. Um. We ended up

(21:38):
getting the third place trophy, butlosing to the tap dancing cowgirl and uh
but but it was just such acrazy thing. I remember like RG and
I looking at each other afterward andwe were like shaking with like just you
know, adrenaline, because we hadnever really performed outside of our parents living
room, and like, well, man, do you think, like mom
and dad know another place we canplay like let's let's this and then and

(22:00):
then all bits were off like thatnight we're having you know, chicken and
mashed potatoes at the family table andwe're just our g and I are just
going off about like dude, we'rea band and this is all now,
this is what we got to doit again? Where can we go?
And then uh, and then yeahwe're like, well, well dad plays
bass, um, let's do that. So yeah, it's back on those
times fondly. You know. That'sa conversation that Brandon Valentine had with hail

(22:25):
Storm when they were about to playat the York Fare a couple of years
ago, right before they got theirinduction. You got to go on stage
and induct them into the Central PennsylvaniaMusic Hall of Fame. That's right,
super awesome experience doing that. Um, they had me come out. The
difficulty with that really was they useI don't know for those musicians out there
that know, you know, sometimesthere are stage monitors that kind of blast

(22:47):
your instruments and your vocals back toyou so you can hear everything. But
the pros they usually use in earmonitors. That means they have virtually you
know, like air pods. Um, but they're they're fitted to your ear.
Oh yeah, in there so youcan hear everything. Right, So
there was no stage volume. Sohere I am standing up there, I
couldn't even hear what Lizzie was saying. The crowd screaming, the crowd screaming,

(23:10):
right, she's she's talking to meinto a microphone, but it's going
out the PA towards the crowd, and it's going into the into their in
ear monitors, and it I can'thear anything on stage. But nonetheless,
it was great um able to inductthem, read their plaque, present them
with an award on stage, andthey were gracious enough on stage to do
a celebratory shot with me as well. We were able to have some some

(23:34):
fine whiskey and uh, you know, raise a glass to uh their big
moment in celebrating them of being aCentral Pennsylvania Music Hall of Famers. That's
super cool. And here they aretalking about uh, one of the bands
that influenced them and kind of helpedgive them their start, seven Dust.
Here's I'll give it to r Jdud. Dude. There's there's one band

(23:55):
that did it for us. Whenmy sister and I and Joe was just
you just joined the and when thishappened. But we uh we heard seven
US was playing at the Chameleon Cluband we just showed up. We didn't
have tickets, We couldn't afford tickets. We were we were really you know
not you know, didn't really havecouldn't really afford it back then. Um,
but uh, we just we didn'treally know how it worked because we

(24:15):
never experienced it. But and nowwe know what it's like being a headliner
and having people just wait outside yourbus and um, you know, we
just stood outside their bus and uh, we hadn't knocked on the door,
which I know we knocked on thedoor. Yeah, we didn't know.
We didn't know what the protocol was. So and they come out and LeJean
comes out, and uh LeJean,Morgan and Clint were hanging in there and

(24:38):
uh and they were like, hey, what's up. Like, Hi,
we're a band, and they're like, oh, cool, come on in.
They let us in their bus. They gave us some sodas and some
waters we were too young to drink, and they gave us backstage passes.
We gave them our little demo andwe're like cool, cool cool. And
then we go and we're side stagewaiting for them to start, and they
literally start playing one of the songsfrom our CD PIA system. Before that,

(25:00):
we're just like what the We're justfreaking out, like this is incredible,
and then you know, fast forwardyears later, we realize that not
there. That is the rare exception. Mister rage, have been a missens

(25:27):
