Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, I'm you happy.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
People, Neil Smith and old Buck Buddy. Are you hearing Neil?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Neil? I miss you man Donnes, I have a question.
We respect for me.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Down, Missy breaking a major story, Chris, congratulations.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Listen to a single score podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'm sickened. I'm a little pissed off. Uh, actually, I'm
a lot pissed off, Folks, I cannot believe the story
I'm about ready to read to you. It comes courtesy
of the People's Republic of California. And you may have
seen an interview I did recently with a father whose
little girl was driving in the car when it got

(01:04):
plowed from behind by a big rig driven by a criminal,
illegal alien who was given a driver's license by California.
This is one of many cases where states like California,
states like New York have given criminal illegal aliens, illegal IDs,

(01:25):
commercial driver's licenses. They've gotten behind the wheel and they've
killed Americans. And the federal government has done some investigating
and they've revealed that California illegally issued seventeen thousand licenses
to illegal alien truck drivers. California illegally doled out thousands

(01:46):
of commercial driver's licenses to dangerous foreign truck drivers. According
to investigation by federal officials, the California Department of Motor
Vehicles admitted to unlawfully issuing seventeen thousand non domiciled commercial
drivers licenses to what they call migrant drivers, which you
and I would call illegal alien criminal drivers. The Department

(02:07):
of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced on Wednesday. The revelations
follow an ongoing investigation by the Trump administration into deadly
highway accidents involving illegal alien truck drivers and how they
managed to obtain cdl's commercial driver's licenses, how they managed
they were gifted them, folks, This is this is a

(02:30):
problem in two respects. How many of you had to
waste two or three four hours of your day to
sit in line at the DMV to get your hands
on a real ID right federal mandate. You had to
prove who you were as an American citizen to get

(02:50):
the real ID. My friends and these criminal illegal aliens
were given that same ID knowing they were criminals. No
owing their illegal aliens that some of these ideas had
the words no name given in the first line, so
they couldn't be tracked. So the illegal aliens couldn't be

(03:11):
tracked right. So this is the States of New York,
the States of California knowingly and wantingly jeopardizing national security.
That's one aspect. Here's the other aspect. The State of
California knew and understood they were unleashing unsafe drivers onto
an unsuspecting public. They basically delivered weapons onto the streets

(03:36):
of America and let them loose to kill American citizens.
It is my firm belief that every state that has
been impacted by illegal aliens bearing these drivers' licenses, every individual,
every family that has had their loved one either stolen
from them or severely injured by these illegal aliens, and

(04:00):
also the federal government, they should all come together and
sue the crap out of California. I mean, unrelenting lawsuit
after lawsuit after lawsuit from all the individuals. Look seventeen
thousand illegal aliens. They've probably been in accidents all over
the country. Every state impacted should right now sue for

(04:24):
damages and for compensation. The State of California and every
family that had their loved ones taken from them killed
that I know of, at least six that have died
in the last couple of months, every one of them
should sue for millions from the State of California, and
then the federal government should sue for billions, as the

(04:45):
State of California and the State of New York have
openly and wantonly jeopardized the national security of the United
States and jeopardize the lives of the American people. Folks,
it is my full intention to bankrupt the State of
Calor for what they have done. They deserve to be bankrupted.
They deserve to go down in flames after all the

(05:07):
people they've killed because they are just so lawless and
they believe the rules don't apply to them. As I said, folks,
I'm a little pissed. We talk about some legal matters
impacting the great state of Texas coming up on the
South Sado Storm podcast, and now a word from our sponsors.
Oh jeez, if I hear another Obamacare commercial telling me

(05:27):
how great it is, I think I'm going to vomit.
In reality, folks are paying out the nose for crappy insurance,
meaning those commercials are just as much bs as Obamacare is.
What if you're under sixty five in need quality affordable
health coverage, American Medical Plans specializes in under sixty five
health insurance plans that have zero copays at the doctor
and no deductible on all outpatient services, including surgeries. You

(05:49):
pick your doctors and hospitals. There are private plans and
roll any time, and there are thirty to sixty percent
less than Obamacare. If you're paying too much for your
own health insurance, call American Medical Plans. They are the
answer to the cancer that is Obamacare.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Folks want a well, come on Travis Morgan. He covers
legal issues for Texas Scorecard. Hey man, how's it going, Chris,
It's going well. We got a laundry list of stuff
to go over, because there's a lot of stuff going
on in the Gray state of Texas. First off, I
was gratified to see the Supreme Court ruling in favor
of Texas's ban on drag shows for kids. Explain, first off,

(09:23):
remind everybody what the law passed in the legislature, and
then who challenged it and what did the court decide?

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Right, So this came from Senate Bill twelve, which has
been called the drag show ban. What it really is
is a prohibition on explicit sexual performances, which, of course,
in the most most cases would be drag shows. And
so this was passed in twenty twenty three, but it
was blocked before it was ever able to take effect.
So for over two years now it's just been kind

(09:52):
of sitting waiting for a ruling. And now Texas is
allowed to enforce this right.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
And that was a Supreme Court, a US Supreme Court
a ruling, wasn't it.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (10:02):
That was the US Fifth Circuit Court.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Of a fifth Circuit. Okay, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
So is there a likelihood they will appeal those to
the Supreme Court or does it stop with the Court
of Appeals.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
I would say there's a decent chance. On a lot
of these high profile cases, there's a decent chance. But
I would not expect the Supreme Court to rule any differently.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yeah, well, actually yeah, if the Fifth if the Fifth
Circuit is going to say no, definitely, Supreme Court is
going to say no, this is good. We have the
right to set standards. You don't have the right to,
you know, wag your junk in front of kids. Sorry,
you just don't, all right, So that that's that's good news.
So let's go about talking about this. I'm gonna mispronounce it.

(10:45):
Roadblocks Is that correct?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Got it right?

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Roadblocks is a video game, as I understand it, and
the Texas Attorney General is going after Roadblocks. Why so?

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Roadblocks has been used by child predators to communicate with children,
and there have actually been a lot of related lawsuits
and criminal cases based upon this, where children get lured
to meet with an older man who had been contacting
them on Roadblocks. So Roadblocks is getting sued now for
failing to implement adequate protections against sexual predators. Roadblocks's responses,

(11:20):
We're doing everything we can. This is a very complex issue.
It's a new age issue that we should try to
work on together and not be sued for. But you know,
Paxton is certainly arguing that there's been just way too
many instances and they're not doing what they need to
be doing.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Are they doing enough or are they skipping common sense
protections because it's either costly or it may inconvenience those
they want to bring to their platform.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Well, this will all come out in court for sure.
But Paxton is making a lot of claims here that
they have been promoting Epstein Island and strip clubs within
the row Blocks universe. I'm not sure you know exactly
what will come out in court whether how true that is,
if Roadblocks is promoting those things. But they're certainly existing

(12:09):
on the platforms and there are unmoderated, unsafe chat rooms,
and these are issues that will certainly have to be resolved.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Good grief, folks who are having a conversation with Travis Morgan.
He covers legal issues for the Texas Scorecard, so Passton
is also busy suing Galveston. Now, this this law that
was passed about the Ten Commandments, I think a lot
of conservatives would have preferred the law instead of mandating

(12:41):
the Ten Commandments, they would have allowed the Ten Commandments.
And I think that's where they're going to find some
legal trouble because you can't impose religion. You can't impose.
You can allow it. Everybody's free to express it or not.
You can't prohibit it, but you can't. My reading of

(13:03):
the Constitution is you can't force it.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
What do you say, So that's partially true. I would
add the caveat that. What a lot of coverage misses
in regards to this law is that it's only required
if the Ten Commandments are donated that fit the proper description.
So they don't the schools don't have to go out
and buy these materials and put them up, but if
they're donated, then they do have to display them. But

(13:29):
you do make a good point there, and maybe a
law will come out in the future that is more
tailored to that if this one is struck down. But
there is a history in this country of using the
Bible as a schoolbook back in the day, back in
the American founding, So in that sense, it was sort
of mandated. These were just good rules to teach, good

(13:49):
moral teachings to have posted on the wall. I don't
really see too much of a problem with that, especially
historically in this country. It is precedent.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Oh no, And again I concur with having the Bible
and the Ten Commandments available in schools. They cannot be prohibited,
and especially if you're doing a unit on studying the Bible,
studying Christianity, they should be permitted. They should not. Government
should not have the power to silence anybody's religion or faith.

(14:19):
But it's this idea of government mandating that you bring
in the Ten Commandments if they're donated, that's the issue,
because you know, what if this I know it's a
big if, but what if this highly publicized Muslim takeover
of Texas happens, they start mandating Sharia stuff in our

(14:41):
classrooms if they get enough passage in government. I just
think it's in my mind, this is government overreach, and
I think it's the reason why it was passed the
way it was. It wasn't to promote religious freedom. It
was designed to have a poison pill to be killed
just to on conservative voters by a very cynical house.

(15:04):
To be honest with you, that just my opinion, because
they knew it would get struck down. But I don't
know what are your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
That is possible. There is legal precedent in this country
which a lot of these sort of laws are relying upon,
which is that if there is actually a tradition in
a country of you know, a certain religion like we
we do have a Christian heritage in this country, sure,
and there is a tradition of displaying the Ten Commandments
in classrooms and using the Bible to teach, so you

(15:36):
can pass laws like this. They can't pass similar laws
for some Satanic statutes of some sort that you have
to display because there's not a history of that in
the country. There's not a tradition and a culture that
has been fostered within that belief system. So that's there
is a legal precedent for that, and that's what these
are relying upon. You know, whether the poison pill theory

(15:57):
is true, certainly possible. It's going to be a very
interesting and how does this say, interesting.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
How does this supply with a freedom of religion in
the country and the equal application of justice clause the
equal application of the law that is required under the Constitution.
So there is no tradition constitution in the I'm sorry,
there is no tradition standard in the Constitution. There is

(16:24):
equal application of law in the Constitution. So I think
they're going to get into really sticky ground when they
start getting into this. Well, it can be allowed, it
just can't be mandated because if you're going to mandate
one religion will open the door to mandating all the
other religions. And there is no tradition exception noted in

(16:48):
the Constitution. That's just again my amateur read on this,
and you cover this for a living, so I'm not
sure how your experience, if you've seen a court case
that more properly informs the podcast audience onto how that
the various courts will rule on this.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Right, there has been legal precedent set as I said,
that does respond to that tradition idea, but of course
that's not in the United States Constitution, so that can
certainly be overturned. That can be reread and recharacterized in
this court process here, But I mean there certainly is
also no separation of church and state right where schools

(17:26):
can teach religion. But again it gets back into do
they have a right to versus must they be mandated
to right? And that's what's going to come out here.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
And I have no problem with with the teaching of
the various religions around the world and in our own country,
no problem with that whatsoever. And if a child wants
to bring a Bible, they shouldn't be They should not
be disallowed from doing so because it might offend somebody else.
That's look, you don't have You have a right to
free speech and the right to express, freedom of expression

(17:58):
and religious expression in this country. You don't have freedom
for being offended. So that's how I've always looked at it.
It's just when government's heavy hand comes in, I'm always
skeptical when government mandates anything, I'm skeptical. Travis Morgan is
our guest right now, folks. He covers the legal issues
for Texas scorecard that brings us to Paxton's suing. Jolt

(18:21):
I believe it's Jolt inc. Is the full title of this. Basically,
it's a left wing group and Paston is accusing them
of signing up illegal aliens to vote. What do we know?

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Right? So Jolt is this nonprofit group that's very openly
open borders. Really, what they say is their initiative is
to sign up Latino voters. But Paxton's undercover agents were
outside of a DMV watching Jolt's employees interacting with people
coming out there, and they were signing up people. They
were submitting voter forms for people who weren't present, So

(18:59):
that of course opens the door. Well, if they're not
verifying all this information, if they're not checking IDs, and
they're doing this for people who aren't present, then they
could do this for illegal aliens and that might be happening.
And so they're being accused of all that here, and
Jolt is saying, well, you're just mad at us because
we're really effective at registering Latinos, although Latinos are increasingly

(19:20):
voting Republican as it is, And what Paxton is claiming is, no,
this is very sketchy. You guys are not following the law,
so we want you to be stripped of your corporate charter.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Yes, And isn't it funny that Jolt assumes that if
it's Latino, it must be illegal because as Ken Patson
is going after illegal immigrants, Jolt is saying, oh, you're
going after Latinos. No, we're going after illegal immigrants. And
we have illegal aliens from one hundred and sixty eight
countries that broke into this country during the Beijing Biden regime.

(19:51):
So where do you see this case going, because I
think that Jolt has countersued the State of Texas. What
is a to time table and where do you see
it all going?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Right?

Speaker 4 (20:03):
I mean, this is all very news, so the timetable
hard to say. But what Paxton is wanting, which is
for them to have their charter stripped, that's a there's
a very high standard to do that. So the burden
of proof is very high on Paxton's office. But they
are saying we had agents there watching what they were
doing and documenting all of it. So we're going to

(20:24):
find out in court just how much evidence they do have.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
And before you and I started talking, there was some
breaking news that came in about a former Rhino by
the name of Chris Patty. He is a left winger
masquerading as a Republican and who got voted out and
sanctioned by his own party and his own county. There
was some legal wranglings about his conduct after he left office.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
What do we know, right, So, the Texas Ethics Commission
is sort of authoritarian, and if you're a little guy
and you don't know all the applicable laws and a
certain way without registering, then they can get you. They
can sue you or find you. And if you don't
know that you can just cut a deal with them.
Then you're never gonna want to get involved in lobbying again,

(21:10):
even as a little guy. So that's the problem with
the Ethics Commission. But they came after Chris Patty for
making donations to candidates from his campaign account before he retired,
and he has all these political connections. So this isn't
a little guy. This guy who has a lot of
political connections, and they still got him. So he sued them,
and now the tec is issuing a one hundred and

(21:32):
five thousand, five hundred dollars civil penalty against him.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
The case is.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Still ongoing, but that's their final order that they're saying,
So it'll be very interesting to follow that as it progresses.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
All Right, Travis Morgan, everybody he covers legal issues for
Texas Scorecard. Before I let you go, what are you
keeping an eye on in the coming days and weeks?

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Well, definitely redistricting. I thought we would have had a
decision by now. But the longer it goes, the less
likely they're going to overturn the maps from twenty twenty five,
because that is going to shuffle everything. The candidate filing
period for the primaries has already opened, so the longer
they wait to make a ruling, the better it looks
for the twenty twenty five maps.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Travis, thanks a lot man, appreciate the update.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Chris Matt right there is going to put a wrap
on this Salceado Storm podcast till we visit again. My friends,

A society's worth isn't measured by how much power's stolen
by an out of control government. A society's worth is

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
