I don't know, what do you think? Yeah, Spain is
pushing towards It's been passed through the government at the
first stages. It still needs to go through Congress to
(02:13):
be made into law, but it looks more than like
that it will happen. Spain changing into a thirty seven
hour week now. I know some of some of the
local offices are doing thirty five hours already at the moment,
So I'm pretty sure this thirty seven hour working week
will go ahead. Let us know what do you think?
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Bit
of status quote Now.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
So Sylvia says in a comment section, were they working
before talking about the hours thirty seven hour working week
coming in? She says, nobody and nowhere seems to be open. Yeah,
that's right. If you're going out anywhere in Spain from
between two and five o'clock, you'll be lucky to find
anywhere open. And yeah, the government building is even worse.
(03:00):
Most of the gum buildings offices here. They work from
around nine o'clock till two o'clock and that's see it.
They don't go back in the afternoon they've finished. And
my wife works for the Hunt and government building here
in Almorria City. It's a function area. I think you
call it a civil servant something along the lines of
(03:21):
civil servant. I suppose studied for a quite a long time,
about four years to get the application in for the
job there. But it is pretty much a job for life.
And yeah, they have holidays like you wouldn't believe in
flexy hours god knows what. Yes, in the summer months
she goes in around nine, finishes about hulp past one
one o'clock something like that, and that's it those two
days a week from home. It's a really good job
(03:44):
job for life. If you can get in with the
government offices here in Spain, you are made. But yeah,
they always remember that if you're going out here in Spain.
That siestas. It's a big thing here in Spain, and
pretty much from two o'clock till five o'clock you'll find
most places is now. The other thing to remember as well,
they do stay open a lot later here in Spain.
Some of the places are open until nine or even
(04:05):
ten o'clock at night. This is even small local shops,
so they do make up the hours. But it's all
down to working in the heat in the summer months.
Not sure why it is in the winter they can't
go through it, but there you go. Okay. So there's
lots of discount so you can get in Spain if
you're over sixties now and I'll be telling you a
little bit about that later on in the show. That's
all coming up. And also top tips and yeah, top tips.
(04:28):
We've got a financial expert going to be talking to
us today giving his top tip on something very important
and that's all coming up right after this. Okay, So
it's Friday, it's time for expert top tip of the day,
and today we've got Josh Williams, financial and tax expert
(04:49):
join us. Hi, Josh, can you hear me?
Speaker 5 (04:51):
I can hear you? Well, Thank you, David. Yeah, good
to be on.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
So, Josh, taxis yeah, not a nice subject for people
living in sp We don't like taxes here, but it's
inevitable and there's something pretty important coming up to March
that we all need to know about. So Josh, can
you tell us a little bit about that please?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Yeah. So it's the Modulo seven twenty. Many people may
have heard of this, heard of it. You should have
if you are holding overseas assets living in Spain. But yeah, so,
as you correctly said, there, so the end of March,
the thirsty first of March is the declaration due dates.
So it's the MODELO seven twenty, a legal requirement to
(05:34):
disclose any assets outside of Spain with a combined value
of fifty thousand euros or more. Failure to comply can
result in some hefty penalties. So as a Spanish resident,
you need to pay taxes on all worldwide income an
interest earned. This includes income from pensions, for example, rental
(05:57):
properties or investments out side of Spain. Now, thankfully the
Spanish tax Authority or Atienda has agreements with overseas investment
providers and offer secure, tax efficient investments suitable for Spanish taxpayers.
Now this can lead to a reduced tax bill and
(06:17):
greater interest rates, all complying with Spanish law, allowing you,
your listeners, David, anyone here here in Spain to do
what you moved to Spain for, which is relaxing and
live easy.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yeah that's right, Josh, and I believe that you can
help my listeners with these problems and a free consultation. Josh,
what is it you do exactly?
Speaker 5 (06:42):
We ourselves are a Spanish based family run wealth management company,
putting our clients needs first. So for all more information
on this and the model of seven twenty or any
other financial device tips and advice in Spain, visit our site,
our website and and wealth management search that in Google,
(07:03):
or contact the contact page on David sites where you
can reach us and book a free initial consultation.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Free consultation. We like that. Thanks Josh for a tax
tip of the day, Josh Williams there, thanks for Jonas
on the show today.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Josh.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Cheers, David, have a great weekend mate, and you likewise. David,
thanks very much.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's Friday, It's Friday, and that's Friday feelings.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Get leave you into the move for the weekend.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Okay, So discounts in Spain for services, So if you're
over sixty, don't have to be sixty five. Now in Spain,
if you're over sixty there you can get a travel card.
This is called the Gold Card here in Spain and
it allows you for just six euros a year. You
pay for the card six euros a year and if
you're over sixty you can get travel on rent free.
That's Spain's national railway system. Here. All over Spain, you
(07:54):
can get a discounts. You can get forty percent discount
on long and short, long and mid term journeys. But
the six six year old card and the Gold Card
this is that gets you a free travel on rent free.
There are other discounts as well for over sixty fives,
like if you want to get the bus pass here.
It's around three fifty a month and that allows you
(08:16):
for all local buses at a transport here. Also there
is local social clubs and gymnaisiums and entrances to places.
If you're over sixty, you just go to the town
hall and ask about these discounts. Some of them have
got a card is where you get a card what
they call a pensioner's card or a gold card that
they do and you get tickets to free discounts on
(08:38):
cinema tickets certain days of the week, things like that. Now,
in a village where my wife's from up in Fignana
on the way to Grenada, they also have a social club.
They're like most of the villages do, and you get
big discounts as well for over sixty fives. And then
it's not always just for the over sixty fives. These
discounts on these social clubs and bars are open to
(08:59):
the public. If you go to the town hall and
ask where they are, you get a lot of discount
on these. And yeah, I remember when I was last
up in Fignona and the villas there, I think it
was two twenty for a beer, which is pretty cheap really,
But if you go in the social club, it's one
twenty for a beer, it's the same beer, it's a
draft beer, and you get a free tappa with that
(09:20):
as well. Unbelievable. So yeah, next time you're out at
the social club or your local town hall, go and
ask about these discounts for over sixties. It's not just
over sixty five's. You can get free entrance to monuments
and museums now as well here in Spain. So come
find out a.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Bet live David Right, David David, David David the Afternoon Show.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
So if you heard the tax expert early on in
the show, there there's giving a free consultation to members
here listeners on the show, and that's his details. Josh's
details are in the comment section. Now, if you want
to go and find out about your taxes, you need
to pay here in Spain. Now, remember you have to pay.
You have to declare taxes. Everybody in Spain has to
(10:04):
declared taxes. Even if you're not working, you're retired, you
still have to declare officially that you're not earning any money.
It's always best to go and seeing a tax advisor
just to make sure you tell them that you're not
earning any money, because after a few years, if you're
not on their books then it can lead to some problem.
So even if you're not earning anything, it's always advisable
to go and just make sure that they've got a
(10:27):
record of you not earn anything. And if you need
any help, you've got an expert in the comment section
to help you with that for a free consultation. Also
a big thank you today to the other sponsors of
my show in Delu Transport and storage. Their details in
the comment section if you need any help with transportation.

to Spain and they've got some great gifts and sorry gifts,
(10:51):
some services at their warehouse. It's got a walking shop
there as well. I was quite surprised. I went into
see Paul at their warehouse there and there's a lot
of stuff they got for if you're looking to pack up,
even if it's just locally, going there and see Paul
here sort you out. And one last big thank you
to greggret Olgraphicks. They are a sponsor of my shows.

and our wine expert Amy from Madrid is not available today.
She's sent in a quick tip today for wine. So
this one's proximous. It's a red wine from the Rivera
area and it's made from the famous and Luthian grape,
(11:56):
the temper and Neil grape, very famous here in and Luthia.
And Proximus is a fruity, a red wine with a
strong extra body and it's a smooth finish. Now, this
is a friendly local wine that you can go and
get in most supermarkets and it's under five euros. So
