Speaker 5 (02:43):
So today on my show, I've got a very special guest,
a good friend of mine, Alejandro Salvador from Salvador Tax
and Legal, and as most of you know, Alejandro is
also the Honorary British Consulate for al Maria. Hi Alejandro,
and welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Thanks for having me in the show.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Alejandro, we talked earlier about this non luxury visa amendment
and the options that are available to people that they
want to start working here in Spain. I believe you
helped one of my private members on our membership site
to get this amendment. He's very happy now that he's
working here in Spine. Is over the moon actually that
he started working here. So the non lux divisa and
then changes, there are some options now, Alejandra, I believe yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
There is options. Yeah. And the thing is that when
you apply for the local divisa in the UK, you
have to go to the Spanish embassy there and they
will issue that visa for one year. One of the
contents or one of the things of that visa is
that you cannot work in Spain or have a business
in Spain. But the thing is that this is just

(03:44):
for the first year, so you can come to Spain
and when you are going to renew that you can
do two months before expiring. So we are telling that
this is going to be like ten months after you
are here. You could exchange an amendment. It's like an
exchange of the non locative visa into let's say working

(04:06):
visa or self employe visa. You have let's say that
you have three options to renew that visa. The normal
system that is the same that you're us in the UK.
That with your money, with the rest of the requirements,
you just prove that you can live in Spain and
you're not going to work. Or you can renew with

(04:29):
this let's say exchange to two ways as self employed.
You could apply uh this exchange to be self employed
they leave, or the requirement is that it needs to
be we need to do like a project of the
how it's going to be. The business needs to be approved,

(04:51):
which is really easy. We have done any kind of
business not nothing important. You don't have to create jobs.
We've done with us pairing with painting, with taking care
of houses. So any business can be included as long
as is sensible. I always say that if you don't

(05:14):
have money or a lot of money, you should not
do a rocket company, for example, to be sensible. The
investment or the money that you can prove that you
have with the with the with the project that you
are doing. We know that for some businesses you don't
need much much match of things. You can do it
to a work online as I said, to do painting or.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Yeah, that's that's exactly My friend is set up a
painting business here. So we'll be back with Alejandro right
after this.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Part is Alan g join me for a brand new
show on a Friday night, eight till ten, Club Life,
taking you on a journey through so far and funky
antipe house lives. So you just go and of course
stopping your favorite club six yesteryear live on Amora one
O seven point five. That's Friday Club Life eight till ten.
Join me.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Today on the show. We've got Alejandro several door from
several door tax and legos. So Alejandro, I believe that
British people that come in here on the non negative visa,
a lot of them will need to work in in
the future or possibly need to find some extra a
little bit of incomes and I might want to work.
So this is an option that could be open to them.
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah, Yeah, that's the that's this the third option that
you have to renew it that we said that the
first was as a normal look at the visa, second
with that business, and the third option is year if
you have an offer, a job offer for a company
in Spain. If you have a job offer, you can
again exchange this non look at divisa or renew with

(06:50):
a working visa with that job offer. So I mean
the at the end of the day, if younger people
or people that are looking to continue working in the future,
is the ten eleven months that they are not going
to work that they should live from from at least
in Spain, they should live somehow from from the savings.
But after that you are prepared to work and as

(07:13):
long as your offer is sensible, as your business is
more and more less sensible, you will will you will
get it.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
We have no.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Negative feedback from the from the you know Foreign Office
in any of the projects that we submit, so it's
it's good news.

Speaker 5 (07:31):
So they could come here on the nonnucrative vase of
for example, for the first twelve months and use that
time to get a job of a contract.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, at the end of the day, it's even less
because it's since the moment you are approved, but you
are still in the UK when you're when you are
approved in the UK from the Spanish embassy in the UK,
and you don't come the same day. You probably stay
one month there packaging or whatever with the removal, and
then you come to Spain. And and but we take

(07:59):
that date not the day that you come into Spain.
So at the end of the day is a very
quick year. It goes very fast, and as long as
you have some savings to to leave that year, it
should be enough.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
So regarding more friend, then let's just call him joke
for this. Like the painter guy, when it comes up
for renew of his visa, his new visa, does he
just renew that for two years? Is it now?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Correct?

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Now? The renewal is for two years. You when you
come to Spain you get it for one year. Then
the first renewal or the first exchange is for two
years and then another two years. When it's five, you
have the permanent resident that you need. You don't need
to prove that if he wants to when he's going
to renew in two years time, he will have to

(08:46):
have the business still or maybe the business is not going,
it's not working. He could go back to the old
system of then not look at the visa and a
just proved with money. At the end of the day,
I understand that what we want is that people stay
here and here and they spend their money in the spin.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
That's great. Well, thank you very much Alejandro Salvador from
Salverdor Tax and Legal for joining us on the show today.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Thanks for having.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Jennifer Lopez getting loud there. Okay, So coming up right now,
I've got Amy Bingham from Madrid, a wine experts. She's
going to be answering your questions. So if you've got
any questions for Amy, but I'm in the comment section now,
she'll be right here with me after this.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
It's Friday, It's Friday and Friday feeling getting you into
the mood for the weekend Live.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
David Right, David Right, David David David.

Speaker 5 (09:38):
The Afternoon Show. Yes, so it's Friday, It's wine time Friday,
and I've got my own wine expert in from Madrid,
Amy being hi, Amy, can you hear me?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (09:50):
Friday and Amy. So you're up in Madrid at the moment.
What's the temperature up there? It's a bit cold, isn't it?

Speaker 6 (09:56):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Very cold. It's funny at least, but getting real really
cold as soon as the sun goes down. So I'm
in full parka and gloves mode up here.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
So Amy, we're talking about wines a bit earlier, earlier on.
And you know, I like to have a look at
the wine bottle and see what I'm looking at, but
I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'll just
know what I like to drink. Is this something specific
we can look at on a bottle, you know, regarding
to see how good the wine is or something. Is
this something special we should be looking out for?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Yeah? I think wine labels are sometimes a bit opaque
on purpose. They don't really often tell you what you
need to know to know what the wine's going to
taste like. But there are some clues that you could
always look for. So one thing that I always look
for on a wine label, and sometimes you have to
kind of hunt it out, is the alcohol percentage. And yes,
the alcohol percentage is going to tell you sort of
how much you should or shouldn't maybe drink of the wine,

(10:48):
but it also gives you an idea of how intense
the wine is going to be. So, for example, anything
that's fourteen percent or over, that's going to be a punchy,
punchy wine and probably comes from a pretty hot climate,
which means it's going to be one of those wines
that really sort of fills your mouth, a really big
and intense wine. A lot of Spanish reds are going
to come in at least fourteen fourteen and a half percent.

(11:10):
One thing to keep in mind is anything over fifteen
and a half percent is no longer classified as wine.
So sixteen and above you're talking about a liquor basically,
and you can't call it a wine. And so all
wine makers are trying to say under that sort of
fifteen and a half percent on alcohol.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Really, okay, well that's thse to mine, okay, And I mean,
so what about a wine recommendation for the weekend? What
have you got for this week This week.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yeah, so this week I want to talk about vermouth. Now,
Spanish remove is very different from vermouth that you're going
to get pretty much anywhere else in the world, and
it's one of those things we always try and serve
on our tours up here in Madrid because it's so
surprising to people. I think most people think of vermouth
as that thing you mix into a martini, whereas insane
we drink formouth straight, often on tap and just formooth

(11:56):
on ice, maybe with a little bit of sparkling water
with it. And vermouth is one of those sort of
appetite openers. So the ideas you drink vermouth is your
first drink of the day and that sort of gets
you started for a big meal ahead.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
Yeah, and it's not very expensive either, I mean, is it.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Vermoth is extremely affordable and you can get really incredible
vermooths at really low price points. Now, vermouth is a
wine that's been four to five so usually you're thinking
about fifteen to sixteen percent alcohol in Vermouth, and then
they macerate it, which means they basically soak it with
a whole bunch of different herbs and spices, lemon, peel,
orange peel, things like this, so you get a bunch

(12:35):
of complex flavors that you can't get from just wine
because they're adding all of these other sort of herbs
and botanicals to it. So two of my favorites, they're
totally different, but one comes from down South and it's
a vermouth made with sherry wine and it's from the
bodega Loose Stau And I particularly like they're white vermouth
because it has very strong flavors of rose, which is

(12:58):
really interesting way to start the day. And then my
second recommendation, I've got a lot for you today comes
from the winery Dose Dose, and that's out of pre
Rat in Catalunya, and they're doing something really interesting with
their vermouth is they're smoking the herbs and botanicals before
they macerate it in the liquid, which means you get

(13:19):
these incredible sort of smoky barbecue flavors in the vermouth.
And that one, again is called Dose Dose from predapt
and plushes.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
I mean what I mean, you probably pay a lot
more up your white, but what sort of plush are
we looking at for a bottle of vermouth?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
You know, vermooth really runs the gamut from a super
traditional sort of meadow brand which is a very very big,
vermooth producer that could be anywhere from sort of eight
euros a bottle all the way up to the loose
style is kind of on the price your end of that,
and I believe they're running about sixteen eighteen euros a bottle. Again,
this isn't something you're going to drink.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
A whole bottle of one.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Or two small glasses is kind of rough, and then
maybe to something else before things get a bit too crazy.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Well, I think I'm going to have to say you're
wrong though, because we have some from free of my
friends and we drink a bottle in and afternoon, no worries.
But so we did put a bit of lemonade in it,
I must admit. And we don't pay anything like that.
We pay I think it's four euros a bottle in Murcadonna.
But very nice it is. Indeed, we'll be hanging a minute.

(14:23):
We'll be back with Amy right after this. I was
normal Jones and Sunrise and we have live in the studio.
I've got my wine expert Amy Bingham from Walk and
Eat Spain dot com. If you want to get in
touch with Amy. Details are in the coment section now.
So Amy, your tours all year round there, I believe,
is that right?

Speaker 1 (14:44):
That's right. We do all kinds of food and wine
tours here in Madrid.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
All year round, and you've got a tour tonight. I believe, Amy,
I do.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
I do. Even though it's a low season, there are
still quite a few people coming to Madrid. So tonight
I'm going to take a couple of people out into
the Malasanian neighborhood to have some tapas and wine. Hold
my favorite starts there.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Brilliant, brilliant and definitely, as I said earlier, definitely up
in Madrid this year. And I'll have to catch up
with you then and go on one of these tours. Okay, Well,
thank you very much, aiming for joining us today on
Winetime Friday, and have a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Absolutely saloon. Hope you get during something fabulous this weekend.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Thanks Amy, Cheers, but a Spanish one there, Mark Anthony.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
For you, David Wright, help and advice for living and
working in Spain. You're listening to the Right Way, the
Right Way with David Wright.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
So this week Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has made
some announcement that the government are planning on new drastic
measures to limit non EU foreigners from buying in Spain. Now,
if this proposal goes ahead, they're talking about and at
the moment it's just talking about one hundred percent property tax.
If impermented here, this could be devastating to the Spanish

(16:03):
property industry. What do you think about that? Let's know
in the comment section, I think it's a crazy idea really,
but there you go. So, yeah, up to one hundred
percent property tax, this for non EU foreigners buying in Spain,
and they could be implemented as soon as this year. Well,
I'm going to get the latest on this from the

(16:24):
Alejandro Salvador, the Honorary British Concert for Almria, when I
have meetings with him again next week, and I'll be
putting some of that information out on my show, So
listen out for that coming up very very soon. But yeah,
this is all part of the measures that the Spanish
government are bringing in to try and limit the or
to try and help the problems with renting in major

(16:45):
cities like up in Barcelona. Last couple of years, it's
been very hard for locals to get on the property
ladder or to rent and that. But putting one hundred
percent tax on properties, I think it is a crazy idea,
but there you go. Let's know what you're think in
the comment section. Time for artists of the week.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Now the artist of the Week sponsored by then you
Are International and something special.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Into a Artist of the Week this week is Jason
the Rural.

Speaker 7 (17:16):
Friday and Friday Feeling getting you into the mood for
the weekend.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Okay, so here's that. We have a fun fact for
your Spain speak Spanish. Obviously, Castillan Castilian Spanish is the
most popular Spanish language here, but there are actually four
official languages in Spain. The others are Catalan, Basque and
Galician Spanish. So there you go, four official languages in Spain.

(17:45):
They see, Spain has been voted the world's second most
visited country in the world again with over eighty million
visitors a year. Eighty million visits a year. That might
all end if they put this one hundred percent tax
on proper, but there you go. So yeah, the number
one that visited country in the world is France, ad
of moment. Close behind is Spain. And another quick fun fact,

(18:09):
the world's oldest restaurant is here in Spain. It's in Madrid.
It's Sobrino the Botting and it's opened in seventeen twenty
five in Madrid and it's been operating continuously. But that
then seventeen twenty five. So remember the Golden Visa, Spain
has put a hold on that and it will be
coming to an end at the end of April. I

(18:31):
think is in the middle of April actually, so the
end of the Golden Visa. You can still got apply
for it. You can still get it now, and it
is the fastest visa to apply for and get. You
can actually get it within fifteen days, believe it or not.
But you will need to approve that you've got half
a million invested or savings, and so yeah, that's why
most people won't be going for that one. But yeah,

(18:52):
that comes to an end a middle of April, I
think it is. That is coming off the table. But
I've got meetings with the Honory British Concert for Amia
and in the next couple of weeks I'm going to
be seeing him every Wednesday, and I'll be putting questions
to him, and we're doing some videos and some audio recordings.
So if you've got any questions you would like to put,

(19:13):
anything regarding tax visas, anything like that would be interested
British people, then you can let me have in the
comments section here, or you can email me your questions
at David at Almoia Radio dot live. That's David at
Almeria Radio dot live, and I'll put your questions direct
to the Honorary British consult for Amria and you get
your answers right here. Well, that's just about it for

(19:37):
me for another show. I want to say thank you
very much everybody for joining me in a comment section.
It's much appreciated. And remember if you've got any questions
for the Consulate, if you've got any tax questions, anything
you want to know, then let me have your questions
and I will put them to the Consulate next week
and you get your answers here on the show. Also,
if you want any help or information, remember I've got

(19:58):
lots of experts. These are experts I've gathered over my
twenty three years here and you can access all of
these experts. You can see the videos I've done with
them over on my information page. That's David wrightonline dot com.
Information page, and there's lots of discounts on there as
well on all the services that we need when we're
living and working here in Spain. I've got more guests

(20:18):
lined up for you in the next coming weeks as well,
so I'm going to be doing a new feature with
some Spanish. Got one of my Spanish teachers coming in
to give us a little bit of a Spanish lesson,
so it can help you improve your Spanish. But in
the meantime, that's it. Thanks very much for me, and
I'll be about the same time at the same place
next week. Thanks very much for listening.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
