for acceptance? I want everybody to love me. I want
everybody to like me. But what if they just don't

gotta try to wine and dine and be lying on anybody, huh.
Because we want to be approved, we want to be accepted.
We always go after what we don't can't have. Oh,
you got twelve people who love you, who've been there

for you, who fought for you, who gave you money,
who supported you. But no, I want to go after
the one person, say one one person that didn't do
any thing right towards me. But but I'm telling you shame.
That's another reason we were mass shame. Shame, so so

should be I made a mistake. See, shame likes to
harp on the mistakes you made. So another reason pain.

You can't be strong at everything because Jesus came to
give us stress. But we don't want people to know
that we got emotions, especially me, and they lie on you. Man,

Men don't want you to know how they feel. Why

What is it about that we don't want to show
certain emotions?

So I know men think that their emotions can be
used against them. Sometimes they have been. So sometimes a
man will reveal their emotions and the person that they're
talking to didn't like that. Okay, so it makes them
not want to do it again.

there the emotions might be used against us. Let's see
what else happened. So let's look at this verse right here,
because he's saying this is a decision. Jesus is saying,
this is a decision that we can make to put

we just went together in Ephesians chapter four, verse twenty
two through twenty three, and to amplify it, says, y'all
right that regarding your previous way of life, you put
off your old self, completely discard your formal nature, which
is being corrupted through deceitful desires. Okay, y y'all, let's

But I have gone places and tried to reveal my
problems or my pain points, and was just told that
I didn't read the Bible enough.

The actual pain that was I was experiencing wasn't even addressed.
It was just looked down upon and just you must
not be holy enough to be living a good life.

the church and then going to pride. How does it
stop us? How does pride stop us? What does pride

you can't say or you can't talk to the next
person or the people that you know they can help you,
you won't get help from them.

about finances? How is that impacting? What about your past?

God used to be I'm not either. What's going on
back there, y'all talking to yourself? What have your mistakes done?

people to keep bringing it up. But raise your hand
as you know somebody keep bringing it up. Okay, let's
take a look at this thing. Well, God knows that
we don't. See. That's what we mess up is we
think we know it all, and we forget about God. Jeremiah,

means he had to know us well enough to know

know that much about you. They know a whole lot.

they're looking up at God so that the tear will

That's a whole lot of stuff to put through. Just

says if I am the strong man? It says I
don't need help. I got everything under control. And what
is it that God? What it avoids? What does a
strong man avoid? Vulnerability and the chance to be supported

by others? What would it be like if a man
came up and grabbed another man and just hugged him.

they feel the opposite. So they don't want people to

people drive up at church and you can tell the

of a sudden they turn around, they smile at the wife.

And if I change, I gotta grow. If I grow,
I gotta constantly change. Because when God called us to
another level. He wants dependency on him. I'm making sure

that I look at the exercise jail. I mean an
adjustment to my eyes. So what does the busy person?
What does this say? I'm too busy and too deep
for any connections. I don't need anything else because I
got this. What it avoids dealing with internal pain? It's

an unresolved issue and it has fear attached to it.

many degrees they got, where they live, what they drive,
What else would they do because they remember, is the
achiever mask? What else? What kind of house they have,
how big it is? What kind of car the gout?

valuable as what I achieve. So the achiever don't get

What are the voids understanding that our worth comes from God,
not from success. Our worth comes from God, not from success.

you your workmanship is marvelous, how well I know it?
Is there anything that he made about you that you like? Yes?

When we understand that our identity is in Christ. We
no longer need to seek validation from others.

So unless you process number one, you're gonna be constantly
seeking validation from others. Number two embracing God's unconditional love.
God knows us fully and loves us completely. He doesn't
wait for us to do right in order to love us.
He loves us while we were doing wrong. Let me

rephrase that he loves us while we're still doing wrong.
Is that? Okay? I want to see what the scripture says,
who are read for me? When he's five eight ampi five?

But he shows improves his own love for us by
the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died
for us.

So when did he die? So while we're still doing wrong,
he did right. When we believe in God's unconditional love,
we can find the courage to shed our mass. When

I've been brought up in an environment where you know,
if we do it right, they're gonna love us. How
many of y'all y'all missed out with the straight a's

what your parents say. What did they say, Is that

how I could learn? I'm serious, we think we got
it together, and he's telling us talk to me about
this thing, all right. Number three, finding freedom through vulnerability.
Now this is right here. I know this is not
gonna be popular, so I'm just gonna go ahead and
get it done. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable,

we opened the door to what is it? Genuine? What
kind connection and healing? You think about the times that
a person saw you having an emotion and they walked
over and started talking to you, And when you started
to tell them how you were really feeling, how you
were really thinking, you created a bond because they had

been seeing you up here and when you were really
down here. Now I'm not talking about as a person.
I'm talking about as an emotion, as a feeling. They
thought they was believing that you were one of them?
What was the religious people or the achievers? Happy person were?

In reality, you were feeling it, and then all of
a sudden you had something in common that you didn't
know you had, because when they started to talk to you,
they started to realize that you saw who they really were. James,
Chapter five, verse sixteen. Confessed your sins, oh oh to
(37:56):
each other and pray for each other so that you
may be healed. Have you ever noticed that when you're
praying for somebody else? Do you get your healing? I mean,
that's Curls mystery. She got this mind said, cur raising hands,
you're my wife just raising hair because some people don't
know who curl is. So okay, okay. So you know
(38:19):
when when we first started dating and we got into
the things of God and got married and all that,
you know, I would ask her, well, how did you
deal with that? I say, you know, the things they're
saying about us and the things that such and such.
And she said, I'm praying for them. Now do we
always agree with what somebody shared with us? It took
me a couple of years to get that one. But
(38:41):
she said, why I'm praying for them? God is bringing
healing to me. Goes on to say in James five sixteen,
the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power
and produces wonderful results. Wonderful four results. See, sometimes it's
(39:02):
not always about us. We think it's about us because
who being impacted? We are? Okay, let me keep going.
Number four. Trust in God's transition transformation. As we allow
God to work in us, we can let go of
masses and let His image shine through people. Have me
(39:27):
fat so why you always have it look like you
have fun when you ministry, because that's the transformation. He
told me. He liked me when I'm funny, when I
can crack jokes. Remember when I shared with y'all, guys,
y'all heard the story. I'm say it again. When I
was in ministry school and was going through being able
to teach class at Richmond Christian Center. I stayed in
(39:50):
there for seven years with the same instructor, although people
got released after six months and I stayed in the class.
And the challenge I had was the instructor he didn't play.
You know, some people you just don't as an instructor.
You don't ask them why they do something. Now, maybe
y'all strong enough or more power or enough, but I
(40:11):
wouldn't ask. So after six years he said, Paul, you
can leave class. Now you ready to teach? And I said, well,
Reverend Luster, y'all y'all know Reverend Dust, some of y'all
know tough, got military poor. He said, I said, can
I ask you something? He said sure. I said, why
is it that I stayed in class for seven years
(40:33):
and everybody else was able to leave? He says, it's
because you are the only one that didn't teach like me,
because people were in the class thinking they gotta teach
like Reverend Luster. But I taught like Paul. I cracked jokes,
I laughed about things. I set at different places, you know,
with his permission. You know, you supposed to be in
(40:53):
front of class. That's where you better been. And he said,
so I wanted people to see. I wanted those students
to see what it's like to be different than who
I am. I wanted them to be who they were,
so trusting in God's transformation. So that was his transformation.
Let's read this from Second Convening, chapter three, verse eighteen,
(41:16):
and we all with unveiled face, continually seeing as in
the mirror the glory of the Lord progressively being transformed
into his image, from one degree of glory to even
more glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
So let me just tell you briefly what glory is.
(41:39):
Glory is a divine nature, that's God, a divine nature,
something that we can see and don't quite understand how
it could be like that. Glory is the beauty the
power to honor the majesty of God. You know how
people if they go into England or somewhere in the
queens such and such, or King such and such. You know,
it's like you bow down a certain way, and you
(42:01):
look a certain way. But this glory, the majesty of God,
when we bow down and worship him and thank him
for who he is and what he's done, what he
continues to do, that's his love, his mercy, his justice
is wisdom. We can get an understanding about something that
is no human way that we would have known what
to do with that, that's his glory.

happened is others know who we really are. What would
it be like the fear of rejection says I might

and then everybody gonna accept it? What else? Is it? Money? Okay? Okay?
What else? Stability? Okay? What else? Living in a certain neighborhood? Okay?

Okay? All right? Appreciate your honesty? What's another reason desire
for acceptance? I want everybody to love me. I want
everybody to like me. But what if they just don't
like you? What if? What is it about us? And

some people they just won't like you? But of all
the friends you got, you come after this person. You
gotta try to wine and dine and be lying on anybody, huh.
Because we want to be approved, we want to be accepted.
We always go after what we don't can't have. Oh,
you got twelve people who love you, who've been there

for you, who fought for you, who gave you money,
who supported you. But no, I want to go after
the one person, say one one person that didn't do
any thing right towards me. But but I'm telling you shame.
That's another reason we were mass shame. Shame, so so

right right this down in your middle. So shame says
I am the mistake, where the real definition about it
should be I made a mistake. See, shame likes to
harp on the mistakes you made. So another reason pain.

You know some people thinking it this morning, right, don't
don't turn to your neighbor. Don't turn to your nigh
and say, is that you I know some of y'all
I know on this side. They definitely one I already said.
But but I'm gonna talk to y'all for a little while.
There's another thing about why we were mass. It's weakness. Guys.

You can't be strong at everything because Jesus came to
give us stress. But we don't want people to know
that we got emotions, especially me, and they lie on you. Man,
y'all don't have to stay in there that you want you.
Men don't want you to know how they feel. Why

is that, man, Give them a mic? Give them a mic? No, no, no,
no mics for that. Okay, I got a mic over here.
What is it about that we don't want to show
certain emotions?

So I know men think that their emotions can be
used against them. Sometimes they have been. So sometimes a
man will reveal their emotions and the person that they're
talking to didn't like that. Okay, so it makes them
not want to do it again.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Okay, that man who grew happening. Come on, man, he
there the emotions might be used against us. Let's see
what else happened. So let's look at this verse right here,
because he's saying this is a decision. Jesus is saying,
this is a decision that we can make to put
off stuff that we don't like. Worrying and guys, So

we just went together in Ephesians chapter four, verse twenty
two through twenty three, and to amplify it, says, y'all
right that regarding your previous way of life, you put
off your old self, completely discard your formal nature, which
is being corrupted through deceitful desires. Okay, y y'all, let's
talk about that for a few minutes. What's going on

right here. That's a decision that we get to make.
It's whether we want to put off our old self.
Is do we want to do that? I got it
might come in your way completely discard your formal nature.

all the way. I think that's pretty important because it's
not sometimes, it's not frequently, it's not seldomly, it's completely,
which means one hundred percent or more.

continually renewed in the spirit of your mind, having a
fresh and untaunted mental and spiritual attitude, and be continually
renewed in the spirit of your mind. So it's not
a one time deal. It's not just a one time deal.

It's a continuation. And as soon as we see it
once we get used to putting it off, then when
it comes up, we need to make a decision soon
instead of later. How long will we wait before we say, okay, father,
this is the area I need help with. I need
to have my mind renewed in this area. Will we

because it's putting off this thing? Man? It is so
I got a question for you. You know, I mind my
business for about ten minutes. Of course, I see your
smirk on your face, But who are you really? I
can wait, I got it might come in your way.

To some they might see the exterior of me and
think that I'm not sensitive. But I'm very sensitive and like, really, Corey,

Sometimes at church we act as if we have it
all together, rather than saying I'm here because I don't
have it together.

Church make comparisons? How comes she wearing that dress? How

But I have gone places and tried to reveal my
problems or my pain points, and was just told that
I didn't read the Bible enough.

The actual pain that was I was experiencing wasn't even addressed.
It was just looked down upon and just you must
not be holy enough to be living a good life.

Okay, all right? What about pride? Say I'm stepping out
the church and then going to pride. How does it
stop us? How does pride stop us? What does pride
say to you? I got it might come your way?
What does pride say about you?

Know? You really need help, But because of your pride,
you can't say or you can't talk to the next
person or the people that you know they can help you,
you won't get help from them.

Okay, what about education? How many degrees you got? How
many degrees you need? How many degrees others have? Have
you ever been around certain people that you might be
talking about cycling and they're gonna bring up about how
many degrees they got? How do cycling go with the degrees?
I mean, do you find that when people want to

bring you down they have to bring something up? What
about finances? How is that impacting? What about your past?
Lord knows I know there's a God because of what

he brought me from because I'm not the same guy
that I used to be. And you say that to
your neighbor, Well, talk to your neighbor. Neighbor, you saying
God used to be I'm not either. What's going on
back there, y'all talking to yourself? What have your mistakes done?

How can that mess with your past? Yeah, y'all know,
people to keep bringing it up. But raise your hand
as you know somebody keep bringing it up. Okay, let's
take a look at this thing. Well, God knows that
we don't. See. That's what we mess up is we
think we know it all, and we forget about God. Jeremiah,

we're gonna read this together, Jeremiah, Chapter one, verse five.
In the message Beloved, before I shaped you in the wound.
So just take a peek of this day. So that
means he had to know us well enough to know
when to put us in the wound. Let's keep on.

I knew all about you. He knows all about me.
He knew where I was gonna be. He knew where
I was gonna be this morning. He knew what I
was gonna eat. He knew that I stole the cookies
last night. He knew all those things about me. Yeah,
I stole it. I stole the last one last night.
You sleep like that. Me and the two cats. We
went downstairs. We got the cookies. We got the cookies, okay.

Put as matter of fact, we had got the last
of the chocolate milk too. I like to eat my
cookie with chocolate milk. But see just what I do?
Can I just say what I do? That's all I

See, when I'm stealing something, I gotta stay right where
it is, cause see there's just something about the floor
will move. I mean, it will make a little noise.

make sure that I ball it up, you know, the
ball the the not the cookie, but but the wrapper.

And see you got to put that at the bottom
of the trash. You can't. That's a lot of work.
But that cookie good. But he knew me. He knew
about me. He knew I was still the cookies when

he looked into making me. He knew all about me.
He knows all about you. I mean, nobody knows that
much about you other than God. Your parents don't even
know that much about you. They know a whole lot.

of day, that means before we were born, he already
knew all these things about us. See a lot of
people they get our parents, you know, when we're in
the womb, they gotta wait till we come out before
they start to assess us. That looked like such that
that looks like but before the light of day, before

we could see, he already knew what he had for us.

I had holy plans for you, a profit of the nations.

skills he have called us too. Before he planned for us.
He knew those skills, he knew those talents, he knew
those abilities. Are we short changing? And then this is

they mean. So I'm gonna ask you a question. Okay,

lot of times you see the strong mass when you

go to funerals, especially men. You haven't seen a man
trying not to cry. It a few you want you
want to see men have took their head back like
they're looking up at God so that the tear will
come down and it'll go around the back of the ear.
That's a whole lot of stuff to put through. Just

cry and then it ain't like that. So what it
says if I am the strong man? It says I
don't need help. I got everything under control. And what
is it that God? What it avoids? What does a
strong man avoid? Vulnerability and the chance to be supported
(22:40):
by others? What would it be like if a man
came up and grabbed another man and just hugged him.
But if you hug me and you're getting too close,
because remember, I gotta be strong. Number two, the second mass,
the happy mass. Anybody the happy man? So where y'all

be honest, I'm gonna go back, say I gotta go
back for a second. How many others it's the strong mass?
We were the strong man? Okay, somebody says, sometimes appreciate
the honest. Okay, right, okay, now let me let me
go to the happy Mass. Do y'all see the happy
MASSA what's going on with the people? Oh? They said

a whole lot okay, constant state of happiness even when
they feel the opposite. So they don't want people to
know that they're not feeling well. Y y'all ever seen
people drive up at church and you can tell the
husband and wife who arguing with ea jail? Y'all ever
seen that? Especially you know somebody, Oh, oh, I appreciate

your honesty, whoever you are. And the husband and wife
they drive up and they see a usher and all
of a sudden they turn around, they smile at the wife.
You know, just something got you got? You got some
fakers that even kissed the wife on the cheek. M hm.
Why you say fakers is because you saw them cussing
at each other on the way in. I mean, you

know you can count when people drive a car, you
drive acquire a certain way what it says. Everything's fine,
I have no struggles.

One of the things about the Mass is we got
a lot of line going on with the masks. You
got to have a lot of lines in order to
operate in the mass. And then what it avoids authenticity
and the healing that comes from sharing our burdens. It

it with the right person, because before you get out
of here, if you share it with the wrong person,
it's on everybody. And see the wrong person will even

I heard more of noise with the busy mask. What's
going on with the busy mass? That's you could look

to avoid stillness and reflection. I don't want to think
about that situation, So I'm gonna stay busy so I
don't have to think. I don't have to pray, and
I don't have to win. Some people don't want to

win because if I win, that means I gotta change.
And if I change, I gotta grow. If I grow,
I gotta constantly change. Because when God called us to
another level. He wants dependency on him. I'm making sure

that I look at the exercise jail. I mean an
adjustment to my eyes. So what does the busy person?
What does this say? I'm too busy and too deep
for any connections. I don't need anything else because I
got this. What it avoids dealing with internal pain? It's

an unresolved issue and it has fear attached to it.
An unresolved issue. But do you understand that that issue grows,
it never stays the same? Y'all can breathe? Number four?

The religious Okay, see see see y'all. Are y'all a
house an issue with this? The religious Mass? I'm gonna

the religious mass do? Quote scriptures? Okay? Okay, you talk

avoids humility and acknowledging that we need God's grace. So
that that challenge is that people from a spiritual perspective

can't help because you know everything. Number five the achiever massy.
So you know when I heard somebody say something over
the religious mass and then the achiever mass defining oneself
solely by accomplishments. You're not even talking about accomplishments. You're

talking about Jesus. But all over what a sudden, this
person will find a way to let you know how
many degrees they got, where they live, what they drive,
What else would they do because they remember, is the
achiever mask? What else? What kind of house they have,
how big it is? What kind of car the gout?

What kind of kids they got?

Their kids two years old? They're in college? Because the
achieve is sometime a lie? Am I lying on anybody?
All right? What it say is I am only as
valuable as what I achieve. So the achiever don't get
a lot of rest because they're constantly trying to be

What are the voids understanding that our worth comes from God,
not from success. Our worth comes from God, not from success.
Can I ask you all the question? Y'all knew it
was coming? The these masks represents us the most? Which

of these masks radiates with us the most? Y'all? Make
sure y'all breathing, because I can see that there's some
of y'all holding your breath. Yes, ma'am, might come in

they always got something going on because they don't want
to think it feel the happy one they perpetrating the fraud.
And the strong one, and we already made it and
an assessment that that could be me and women. Okay,

does that mean? We don't give God the credit for

one thing that we don't like. Well, I think about that. Well,
I don't like my nose. So when you go to
get plastic surgery on the nose, when they do it,
you look at it for a little while and you say, well,

it's almost right. But when he talks about the fact
you your workmanship is marvelous, how well I know it?
Is there anything that he made about you that you like? Yes?
Oh it is some stuff? Okay, all right, just check it.

When we understand that our identity is in Christ. We
no longer need to seek validation from others.

So unless you process number one, you're gonna be constantly
seeking validation from others. Number two embracing God's unconditional love.
God knows us fully and loves us completely. He doesn't
wait for us to do right in order to love us.
He loves us while we were doing wrong. Let me

rephrase that he loves us while we're still doing wrong.
Is that? Okay? I want to see what the scripture says,
who are read for me? When he's five eight ampi five?

But he shows improves his own love for us by
the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died
for us.

So when did he die? So while we're still doing wrong,
he did right. When we believe in God's unconditional love,
we can find the courage to shed our mass. When

I've been brought up in an environment where you know,
if we do it right, they're gonna love us. How

Why do I put the mask on? Because you still
think you right? He didn't do enough, He didn't do enough,
or he didn't do it the way I thought it
should be done. Am I lying on it? By and
what you think about it? Guys? Because he did everything?

But see, I want to make it clear that everybody
understand it's not just you, We're all doing it. Why
did I run for ministry for twenty five years because
I thought he made a mistake. Then when I got in,
it's like, wow, Lloyd, why didn't you tell me about this?
How I could grow? I could could flourish, how could
be at rest? How could be at peace? How could

how I could learn? I'm serious, we think we got
it together, and he's telling us talk to me about
this thing, all right. Number three, finding freedom through vulnerability.
Now this is right here. I know this is not
gonna be popular, so I'm just gonna go ahead and
get it done. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable,
(36:50):
we opened the door to what is it? Genuine? What
kind connection and healing? You think about the times that
a person saw you having an emotion and they walked
over and started talking to you, And when you started
to tell them how you were really feeling, how you
were really thinking, you created a bond because they had
(37:14):
been seeing you up here and when you were really
down here. Now I'm not talking about as a person.
I'm talking about as an emotion, as a feeling. They
thought they was believing that you were one of them?
What was the religious people or the achievers? Happy person were?
(37:34):
In reality, you were feeling it, and then all of
a sudden you had something in common that you didn't
know you had, because when they started to talk to you,
they started to realize that you saw who they really were. James,
Chapter five, verse sixteen. Confessed your sins, oh oh to
(37:56):
each other and pray for each other so that you
may be healed. Have you ever noticed that when you're
praying for somebody else? Do you get your healing? I mean,
that's Curls mystery. She got this mind said, cur raising hands,
you're my wife just raising hair because some people don't
know who curl is. So okay, okay. So you know
(38:19):
when when we first started dating and we got into
the things of God and got married and all that,
you know, I would ask her, well, how did you
deal with that? I say, you know, the things they're
saying about us and the things that such and such.
And she said, I'm praying for them. Now do we
always agree with what somebody shared with us? It took
me a couple of years to get that one. But
(38:41):
she said, why I'm praying for them? God is bringing
healing to me. Goes on to say in James five sixteen,
the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power
and produces wonderful results. Wonderful four results. See, sometimes it's
(39:02):
not always about us. We think it's about us because
who being impacted? We are? Okay, let me keep going.
Number four. Trust in God's transition transformation. As we allow
God to work in us, we can let go of
masses and let His image shine through people. Have me
(39:27):
fat so why you always have it look like you
have fun when you ministry, because that's the transformation. He
told me. He liked me when I'm funny, when I
can crack jokes. Remember when I shared with y'all, guys,
y'all heard the story. I'm say it again. When I
was in ministry school and was going through being able
to teach class at Richmond Christian Center. I stayed in
(39:50):
there for seven years with the same instructor, although people
got released after six months and I stayed in the class.
And the challenge I had was the instructor he didn't play.
You know, some people you just don't as an instructor.
You don't ask them why they do something. Now, maybe
y'all strong enough or more power or enough, but I
(40:11):
wouldn't ask. So after six years he said, Paul, you
can leave class. Now you ready to teach? And I said, well,
Reverend Luster, y'all y'all know Reverend Dust, some of y'all
know tough, got military poor. He said, I said, can
I ask you something? He said sure. I said, why
is it that I stayed in class for seven years
(40:33):
and everybody else was able to leave? He says, it's
because you are the only one that didn't teach like me,
because people were in the class thinking they gotta teach
like Reverend Luster. But I taught like Paul. I cracked jokes,
I laughed about things. I set at different places, you know,
with his permission. You know, you supposed to be in
(40:53):
front of class. That's where you better been. And he said,
so I wanted people to see. I wanted those students
to see what it's like to be different than who
I am. I wanted them to be who they were,
so trusting in God's transformation. So that was his transformation.
Let's read this from Second Convening, chapter three, verse eighteen,
(41:16):
and we all with unveiled face, continually seeing as in
the mirror the glory of the Lord progressively being transformed
into his image, from one degree of glory to even
more glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
So let me just tell you briefly what glory is.
(41:39):
Glory is a divine nature, that's God, a divine nature,
something that we can see and don't quite understand how
it could be like that. Glory is the beauty the
power to honor the majesty of God. You know how
people if they go into England or somewhere in the
queens such and such, or King such and such. You know,
it's like you bow down a certain way, and you
(42:01):
look a certain way. But this glory, the majesty of God,
when we bow down and worship him and thank him
for who he is and what he's done, what he
continues to do, that's his love, his mercy, his justice
is wisdom. We can get an understanding about something that
is no human way that we would have known what
to do with that, that's his glory.
