Muckle Sus. It doesn't matter ifyou love craps, blackjack machines or dining
on the finest Asian, American andSailish cuisines. It doesn't matter what you
do or where you're coming from,Muckle Su. What you do is all
at Muckleshoe, an easy drive fromwherever you are. All roads lead to
(00:25):
Muckleshoe, Muckle Suit. As theyturn into the stretch, and it's slack
(00:51):
Tide and Blazing Bella Blue. Thesetwo face off as they have one furlong
to go in the Hasting Stakes, and it's Blazing Bella Blue foraging to the
front. Slack Tide as came upthe inside and these two us separating themselves
from the rest, and it's BlazingBella Blue. Blazing Bella Blue gets there
in the Hasting Stakes. Horse racingnorthwest from Emerald Downs, heading into a
(01:14):
three day weekend of racing, littleirregular schedule, no stakes this weekend.
As we just heard, Blazing BellaBlue win the Hastings Stakes at Emerald Downs
with a great run by that Washingtonbread Mayor five years old. Now Alex
cruise aboard for Charles Essex owners PetreLewin and Essex and Joe Withy Vince Brune
(01:42):
build downs here, guys, thatwas a pretty impressive run. We saw
a lot of inside speed doing reallywell at emeraldowns Friday, Saturday, somewhat
Sunday, and then Blazing Bella Bluegoes around everybody to win. Bill,
you picked that one up. Yeah, I made the nice move on the
turn, circled up why got intoposition and came a showdown between her and
slack Tide in the stretch and BlazingBella Blue out dueling slack Tide for the
(02:07):
Wind. The Wind by a halflength went off as the third choice in
the race. It was a wideopen betting race. Somehow, some way,
Silvery Orb went off as the favorite, which I liked her going in.
But if you had told me Iwas going to get five to two
instead of eight to one or sixto one, I would have been like,
So, you know, those typeof horses are good, good chances
(02:28):
at price, but when they getbet down as a favorite, I'm like,
oh, good lord, but blazingBut it was a nice bounce back
race by slack Tide as well, because we all had our a little bit
of doubts about slack Tide after goingoff as a big favor in that previous
allowance of optional claiming race. Youknow, she'd only been beaten less than
a length, and I guess herexpectations were tempered because she's been so good
(02:50):
here and she was a short price, and you know, we did talk
she'd probably get them more aggressive rideand that certainly would happened. And it
took a good run from Blazing BellowBlue to beat Slack Tide. And you
know the cream does rise to thetop. That's those top two finishers and
have a combined six Steakes wins atEmerald Downs. So Blazing Bella Blue and
Slack Tide are both quality horses here. That might be a trivia question upcoming
(03:13):
leading Active Steaks hource not today, but yes, Blazing Bella Blue was our
twenty twenty one Washington Horse of theYear. She also want to stake last
year the Washington Cup, that greatwin over zipping sevens and boy, what
a big effort and they were wayahead, as you mentioned, in front
of everybody else, Blazing Bella Blueand Slack Tie. That was the Hastings.
(03:36):
We also had the Budweiser on Sunday, and we're going to talk with
owner breeder Holly Rideman on horse RacingNorthwest today. She's going to be one
of the guests late, excuse me. Bridle up to the Bar was really
really impressive as well, and isaiahsand Riquez just got him right out into
where he needed to be early.Bill, Yeah, yeah, the track
(03:59):
was playing glib even on Sunday, but Bridle up to the Bar was the
speed of the speed. Smiling Goodbyewas chasing him early on as well as
Aquitania arrival coming in from Canada.Bridle Up to the Bar put away both
those two speed horses, and thenthere is all sorts of uh. You
know, when you get a bigtwelve horse field, there's always trips to
(04:21):
take a look at. That's what'salways nice when you get those big fields.
As a handicapper, you're able todissect them post race. You know,
Sluice to his Whiz. You knowyou're gonna ask me a little bit
later, who's the most impressive horseof the weekend. I could say that
Sluice his Whiz might have been themost impressive horse of the weekend in defeat
due to the fact that, youknow, the track was so speed favoring.
(04:45):
I thought, and Sluice to hisWhiz was in second last a half
mile in the race, and hepassed everyone but Bridle up to the bar.
And there are horses that were makingsome nice moves that finished fourth and
fifth, fourth and fifth Zestful forJustin Evans, who is a better horse
going around two turns. And thenalso Coastal Kid had got a lot of
(05:06):
action in that race and we weretrying to figure out why he went off
at six to one and he finisheda very good fifth, just a neck
behind Zestful. And so the second, fourth and fifth place horses from that
race, all our horses. I'mtaking a look at it as we get
closer to the mile, I wouldeven add the third place finisher. I
thought that was a great run byAquitania rival down from Cannon. In fact,
(05:29):
inside the quarter I thought this horsemight win. Yeah. I mean
it was really looking powerful out there, and that's a quality horse. If
you go back, it's slightly raced, but it's fired bullets at several different
race tracks, and it adds furtherdepth to what's just really turning out to
be a great division. I thinkthis year, you know, it might
add another horse we've talked about TopHarbor runs Saturday at Pleasanton in the Oak
(05:50):
Tree sprint is nine to five onthe line in a seventy five thousand dollars
race. We've talked about five stargeneral maybe coming in. Maybe one of
the Mike Pouch horses background called mefast. It's shaping up to just be
an outstanding division this year. Yeah. Here we're talking some long acres mile
names that races on August thirteenth thisyear August thirteenth of the mile sou and
(06:14):
we had we had a glib track, as we just mentioned. Blazing Bella
Blue tied the stakes record of oneoho eight and one, and we hadn't
run too many Budweisers at six furlongs. But Bridle Up to the Bar was
a little quicker than I had goneone oh seven point seven one and one
oh seven point seven six the lasttwo years. Those who go with the
(06:36):
buyers Papa's was a little higher. They got eighty eight both years. Bridle
up to the Bar came back ineighty four. I think sometimes are fast
times here are a little held againstus a little bit. When they compile
those, they think, well, boy, that track is just awful awful
fast and maybe we lose a couplepoints there, But Bridle Up to the
(06:56):
Bar, Yeah, he's a he'sa really good horse, you know.
And even that previous race where hefinished second of Smiling Goodbye, he kind
of tipped his hand there a littlebit. He ran sneaky good because he
had a little bit of trouble inthat race and uh was coming off just
a huge effort down in Phoenix.Yeah, and then just enough time.
You know, horses that handicappers talkabout the bounce theory, and that was
(07:17):
I think a perfect example, sucha high speed figure he was going to
come down, he still ran goodin defeats and then he comes back and
wins, wins the bun wiser onthe front end and h and deservely so.
And I think, what did youget that? What you got to?
Eighty four? Eighty four? Sohe's not even his career best,
if you will, So I thinkthat's a legit number for that for that
(07:42):
race. Five for nine lifetime asBridle Up to the Bar just started his
career last fall down in Arizona, and he is in the picture for the
older horse division. Hey, ourGutstein runner up just won a race at
pleasant march, chucking at bay whofinished was it second last year in a
distant second to Lloyd's logic and theygot steam back back on track in those
(08:03):
howarded hammer silks. Very good.Okay, Yeah, we're doing this podcast
Friday afternoon because no racing today atEmerald Downs. Many of you might hear
this before seven pm, which isour usual Friday night start. But we
have a Saturday, Sunday Monday scheduleof live racing this weekend. Saturday first
(08:26):
race at five pm. We're goingto five pm on Saturdays. That's Tomorrow,
July first, Then Sunday our regulartime of two o'clock, and that'll
be July second, and the thirdof July is Monday, first race at
five pm. Gates are going toopen at noon because we get a lot
of fans and families coming in earlyto get their spot for the fireworks spectacular
(08:50):
after the races. Monday, Julythird, first race at five pm.
I guess we're on that topic,Vince. I think you know some of
the horses. It's like we've gotsome good field size for Monday, outstanding
field size for Monday. In fact, I'll go just that it sure numbers
right now we got six, six, seven, seven, eleven, ten,
(09:13):
eight, seven, eight, sodouble ditch it's there in the middle
of the card and races five andsix. So yeah, pretty good,
pretty good numbers for a nine racecard. Yes, nine races on the
third of July, starting at fivepm. Again, gates open at noon
if you want to come in andsecure your spot. We'll have a family
movie on the big screen. We'llhave more audio visual entertainment on the big
(09:37):
screen and racing and it's going tobe a really nice day of weather,
day and night of weather. Sofireworks show at Emeraldowns. Just a few
tickets left. Go to Emeraldowns dotcom to get your seats for Monday racing
and then we'll be back to ourFriday Saturday Sunday next week. Friday night
at seven, Saturday at five,Sunday at two for Emerald Downs. Okay,
(10:03):
and hey, Breakfast at the Wiremany of you have attended that over
the years. That's going to starton Sunday, July twenty third and will
run for three weeks. On Sundays, Sunday, July twenty third, Breakfast
at the Wire out on the trackApron eight am starts, so look for
that. We'll keep you more updatedon that as well. Dean Mazuka is
going to be hosting again, whichis great and so any stats and Vince
(10:31):
has got the weekly honors from ourprevious three days. So for last week,
Isaac and Riquez our Jockey of theweek. Four wins for ISAs including
that stakes wins we talked talked abouton Bridle of the Bar. Defending training
champ. George Rozalees three wins lastweek is our trainer of the week.
Joe. You mentioned Holly Reidman, owner breeder of Bridle Up to the Bar.
(10:54):
She's our owner of the week. The Washington Bread of the week,
how can you go against Blazing Bellablue bread by pet lew And and Charles
Essex in our Quartershoot Cafe Groom ofthe week is Colton Brown doing a great
job back there for Jeff Metz.A couple of honorary mentions this week.
You know you can't award them all. Nicolotryani, great job with Prile up
to the Bar, firs first stakeswin, Faustino Coco Patino his first win
(11:16):
as a trainer here at Emeraldowns.Mangia Pani nice win on the stretch out
Colors Coco longtime assistant to Blaine Wright, Francisco Diaz Lopez back in the win
category, he got goat Rocks togo Wire to wire. A nice job
by him. And then Stephen Lethahr. Some good clients here, horse owners
at Emeraldowns. They had a niceto win week, so congratulations to them
(11:37):
too. Hey, those are somegood recognitions right there. Okay, field
size in the stakes races last yearwe were at seven point nine, which
is pretty darned good really, youknow, just about eight and there was
only two seasons in the previous seventeenthat were better than that. So we're
(11:58):
off to an eight point to startwith that twelve horse field in the in
the Budweiser, which helps. Soyeah, and it looks like it's going
to stick throughout the year. That'sgreat. Yeah, so stakes race field
size, keep an eye on thatbecause that is more excitement. And the
fans responded. We had a prettygood handle too. I think we went
what one point six, We hada great Yeah. The steak. I
(12:18):
think TVG had some sort of promotionon the Budweiser. That helps because yeah,
the people bet the money and ithelps when you got you know,
a twelve horse stakes field where youcan look a lot of different ways.
That's that's attractive, and that'll upthe percentage of ten to one winners.
It's only at five percent right now, which would be an all time Emeraldown's
(12:39):
low. But the more of thefield size goes up, which is going
to be on Monday, the morechances for you know, some math in
that direction. All right, Newsand notes available at everywhere Great, just
a lot of great information there atemeraldowns dot com. Also remember the trip
notes. John Lindley updates those everyweek. Trip Notes available free of charge
(13:03):
at emeraldowns dot com under the racingsection. News and Notes are under the
media News and Notes section a Newsand Notes section. Okay, we got
that, all right? Um,before we take a break and bring Holly
Ridman on most impressive performances last week. Yeah, that I kind of gave
(13:26):
up on Slews to his whiz aswell. Bill. I picked him up
just past the three eighths poll andsomebody else had just kind of passed him,
and I think his butt was probablyat the back of the pack,
and I thought, well, youknow, the race pattern just isn't with
him. This week and U youknow, maybe not first out, but
boy did he come roaring home.Yeah, like I said, as as
(13:48):
impressive of a non winner, Ithink as you can have. And I
think things are looking up and positiveand he'll have to be even better I
think this year to win the mile. But even though he lost, I
thought, just watching a race backmany times sluiced his whiz impressed me.
And like I said, Zestful andCoastal Kit or other. A couple others
(14:11):
that finished behind bridle up to thebar. As these distances get a little
bit longer, that I'll be takinga look at as well. And one
other horse had we liked the Ilike a little bit. But he didn't
get off to a good start atall. Man's man, Oh did a
rough trip. Just blew the start, and when you blow the start,
you put yourself behind the eight balland things that didn't get much better after
that, and he was way offthe pace. But he's another one that
(14:33):
as they go longer, yeah,he should improve, but we'll see if
you know, you got to showsomething to win a race like the Long
Acres mile. So but he atleast likes the distance of the mile.
Yeah, what a what a fantasticseason he had last year. A man's
man making his first start since lastDecember. Not a great trip in that
(14:56):
bulky Budweiser field. Okay, soagain. Racing on Saturday at five,
Sunday at two, and Monday atfive this coming weekend at Emerald Downs.
Go to our website for more information. You know who else is going to
join us on today's horse racing Northwestis Steve Butler, who won the Grandparents
(15:20):
Race. And you know, itkind of came together. I don't know
what you guys thought of it.You know, we had a couple of
meetings and talked about Grandparents' Day andeverything. Fince was so open ended on
that. Well what are we youknow, yap pillar coming in? How
do you get in? You know? And well just tell them you're a
grandparent. That's about how how stringentwe were on admission. And then the
(15:45):
Grandparents Race too. We joked aboutit a little bit, you know,
how do you qualify? You know, there weren't any really rules, but
it turned out to be a prettyfun deal. Yeah, and it actually
got a lot of media play.And by a lot, I mean a
lot. And uh yeah, weare fielding requests from all around the country
on that. I got a kindof a kick. We got read Palmer
(16:07):
got some great photos of that, and one of them is Less Shannon,
who's works for Alan Bazelle and alsohas been on the gate Crew goes way
back in Washington racing. He wasout there to win and he went down
hard, and in the background isVerned Bays and George Colelo Junior both was
just huge, just laughing really hardand it's Less is okay, but he
(16:30):
was a gamer. He was tryinghard for the win. Yeah, I
think the first two leaders is We'regoing to play that audio later. It's
not a long one, but becauseit was only a forty yard race.
But you know, Bill didn't haveall the names. They'll call him by
name. I didn't have any names, just making stuff up. But the
winner was Steve Butler of Everett andwe're going to talk to Steve as well
(16:55):
on the show. And he hashad a lot of media come his way
as well, from family and friendsand you know, points near and far.
So it was a fun deal.Phil Ziegler, our track president,
came up with the idea and againwe had these different planning meetings and really
nothing much as far as specifics,But when it came time to have a
(17:17):
grandparents race on the Emerald Downs tracksurface, it was totally unique. Really,
I mean, where has there beena grandparents race before? Well?
And speaking of unique, Bill, what are you going to be calling this
Sunday here at Emerald Downs? Wegot another one for you. You might
have some names. It's babies, diaper Derby. We're calling it bess.
(17:38):
You know, you can't really blamethe babies. But last year, the
babies, you know, they dweltat the gate with the dwelt at the
gate. And I'm sitting here goingafter about five minutes, what are we
going to do here? Because youknow, at some point you got to
you gotta move on. But hopefullywe'll have some very active babies. So
I think some of Sunday's entrants aren'teven born yet, so you know they're
(18:00):
gonna they're gonna do. I understandthere's some twins in Okay, I think
I heard that right. Anyhow,Bill, you'll have your hands full of
Oh, I know, I don'tknow how I'll keep up with the action.
And if you're imagining babies running onthe dirt out there. You know
they don't do that. We've gota nice big matt with starting slots and
everything. So we're lucky that theGrandparents Race was on the track as well,
(18:22):
because if that was on the onthe apron, my goodness, gracious,
what will we be paying dental billsin the five figures for those guys.
Yeah, if you want to seethat Grandparents Race, just just go
to Google and Grandparents Race emerldowns andtheir video will pop up because it's in
a lot of spots. Okay, well, we'll have some in our third
(18:45):
segment. We'll have Steve Butler onthe Grandparents Race winner. We'll have our
selection sports shorts, trivia, andin the next segment, we're gonna talk
with owner breeder Holly Rideman here onhorse racing north West. Muckles with the

Sue three sixteenths to go, BridleUp to the Bar and Aquitainia Arrival.
These two square off with one furlongto go. It's all about the rights.
Mona goodbye, third and fourth loosedhis Whizz taking off on the outside
deep stretch. Bridle Up to theBar hats a lead close to home.
Bridle Up to the Bar prevails. That was Bridle Up to the Bar,
(20:22):
his first stakes race and his firststakes victory. Last Sunday's Budweiser at Emerald
Downs clear victory over last year's WashingtonHorse of the Year's loosed his Whizz,
who was a nose better than AquitainiaArrival, but it was Bridle Up to
the Bar. Trained by Nick Troyani, ridden by Isaiah's Enriquez in one oh
(20:44):
seven point five seven for his fifthwin and just nine career starts. And
joining us here on horse Racing Northwestis breeder and owner Holly Rideman. Holly,
good afternoon, Good afternoon, Thanksfor coming on. And you know
that horse got off to a greatstart in his career. He just began
(21:07):
racing as a three year old lastfall down in Phoenix, and it's been
a pretty good ride, hasn't it. It has been exciting, that is
for sure. You know Nick Troyania young guy involved. And let's just
start right there with Nick. Howdid you happen to get him as your
trainer? Actually through Chris Stensley.Okay, Chris, he was my previous
(21:32):
trainer and she had decided to retireand I had to make a decision there
whether I was going to keep goingor not. And she recommended him and
said they were really happy they hadher and Jody Peats, they had horses
with him, and so I trustedthem and took pH leap. Nice.
(21:52):
Yeah. Well, I'm glad youkept going, and I think you are
at this point as well. HollyRidman. We've seen your name on you
know, several horses over many years. Here in Washington Emerald Downs. Tell
us about yourself with horses and horseracing. How it all got going.
(22:14):
Well, I was a horse crazylittle girl. There was nobody really in
my family that was into horses, and I did, you know, I
think what every little girl does,Please can I have a pony? Please?
Can I have a horse? Andeventually my grandfather gave in and bought
me my first horse, and thatwas pretty much the end of that.
(22:36):
It's been rare that I've only everhad one since that point. It was
my husband's fault actually about the racing. When we got married. I got
him started in horses, and hewas riding with me, and we were
doing all sorts of adventures and stuff, and he wanted to get a little
better, and I knew better thanto try to give him lessons myself,
(22:56):
so I found him a guy probablythe best decision to do some lessons for
him so he could ride better. And it turned out to be somebody that
had a portion owned a portion ofa horse at Emerald Downs, and that
turned into inviting us up to watch, and then that turned into coming to
the backside, and then my husbandwas hooked there. It is yeah,
(23:19):
I mean that's that's not a totaltypical progression. Although m Mark, you
were a little more horse experienced thanhe was. I think he just got
in there, guys, because hewanted to get closer to Holly when they
were first start dating and stuff. He wanted to get some brownie points there.
What do you think, Vince?Yeah, well, Holly, you've
(23:41):
mentioned horses. Is this your firststakes winner? And also how was it?
What was it like watching that raceon Sunday? This is my first
stakes entry, let alone winner,So I think I may have blacked out
a little bit during it. II was just in awe of what that
(24:03):
horse can do, and in youknow, it was kind of a deer
in the headlights moment. I dobelieve very good most of most of the
race that I can that I canremember. I think it's because I've watched
the replay so many times. Well, you know, his previous eight races,
he had four wins, and he'sshown pretty good speed and was in
(24:25):
him and you're used to success withhim, and here he is Isaiah and
Riquez just got him right out ofthe gate and to the rail and to
the lead, and you know, this was a lot tougher field than his
other races, but the typical triparound the track wasn't very much different.
It just more was on the lineand you missed part of it. That's
(24:48):
too bad. But you can alwayswatch the replay, you know. Yeah,
that's exactly right. We have watchedthe replay too many times to count,
you know. And interesting. Youknow, you're the breeder, Holly,
and how did you you decide togo to a full bridle who We've
seen certainly some of those up hereover the heres, but not a whole
bunch of them, and it certainlywas a sharp decision on your part.
(25:10):
Well, true, I wanted agray horse, okay, and you know
I always bet the gray I've alwaysheard that since the first day I came
to the track, and I've alwayswanted a gray horse. And the mayor
was down in California, and thatwas the you know, when I looked
(25:33):
at the history and my husband isreally into the whole lineage, you know,
and I said, I'm looking atthis horse, what do you think?
And he said, oh, yeah, I think that'd be a great
cross, and that there you haveit. It was, you know,
one of those aha moments that turnedout to be one of the best choices
we've made. What are the futureplayers thought, stay here at Emerald for
(25:59):
the stakes races and potentially stretch outaround two turns for some race called a
long Anchor's mile. Um, ifwe feel comfortable with that and he is
doing well, absolutely, I don'teven know. That's hard to think about
because you really never believe that anythinglike that's going to happen. I mean,
(26:22):
you hope and you you know thatwould you know, I'm just so
grateful to worry at right now andreally beyond excited for where he's going.
But it's it's really hard for meto I'm scared too, I guess that's
the best way to say that.I yeah, it would be lovely.
It's interesting too, Holly that itlate in his three year old year it
(26:45):
took took to get to the races. There's any reason it took that long,
and certainly the patients has paid offin spades. Um. Well,
he we entered I think three timesfor you know, in the meat in
the races, just did not goand I have the opportunity to run him
for a tag and you know,Nico app set absolutely not if it was
(27:10):
my horse, and so I listenedto him. He's not guided me wrong,
and he's been absolutely great with him. So I waited until Turf Paradise
and sent him down there. Yeah, that'll that all worked out really well.
You know his talent. He justhas talent which is really showing through.
And did again on Sunday. Andyou're breeding operation you've got do you
(27:36):
have a little acreage yourself? Youkeep your broodmaree? Sir? How many
do you have and where do theystay? I have right now to broodmare's
one is in the cowgirl cocktail.Actually this is where it all started.
I bought her at the auction, the yearling auction, and she is in
(27:59):
yaks. She's got not great feetand so the wet here in the winter
is not a good idea. Ihave about ten acres so I can keep
you know, quite a few horseshere should I choose to. And I
have one other mayor that still isdown in California maybe coming up here,
um oh maybe maybe in late spring. Um. And then we're gonna talk
(28:26):
about who we're breeding to next. And unfortunately Bridle up to the bars mother
has passed. Um. So yeah, well better get mark looking at some
cross references and figure out something. He's got out his stallion guide and he's
(28:48):
going, he's going to town beautifuland hollow. You're down near Olympia,
is that correct? That's correct? We live we actually, yeah, we
live just outside the city limits ofOlympia, a couple about block one city
block outside of the city limits. And we've got ten beautiful acres and can't
see another dwelling from our property. And it's it's kind of the location location
(29:11):
location nice. Yeah, you know, it's interesting about that. Joe is
Peter Lewin. You know she breduh Blazing bella blue co breeder with Charles,
and she's down that way too,So yes, I think, yeah,
so great, great weekend for thebreeders and owners down your way.
Hally, the money went south SouthSouth Beausic Sound represent you bet, and
(29:33):
you know the scattered creeks down thereand the spooners. Spooners don't breed too
much, but they're down that wayas well. So that's a popular spot
for Emerald Down's success is the SouthSound. And uh yeah, Bridle up
to the Bar just a really reallyfine race. Uh wow, we meet
(29:55):
eleven others. You know. Thatwas a twelve horse field, as you
know, and yeah, those arekind of uncommon, being the Washington horse
of the year and the mile winnerand that's that's quite an accomplishment. Yeah,
you've got a fine horse, andthank you so much. I take
it he came out of the race, okay, Yes, got good reports
(30:15):
there he did. I went tovisit him the next day and took him
my little equissage machine and he wasbiting at me and tossing his head and
bucking in the stall. So goodsign. Yeah, he's he's a very
very kind horse. I think he'sfigured out. However, when he sees
(30:38):
me. Most of the time he'sgoing to the track to do a job,
so every time he sees me hekind of gets a little riled up.
I normally come on the mornings thathe works, and of course I
come that to best of my ability. Obviously here I can, but down
in Arizona I was only able tocome to I think three race, three
of his races. And yeah,he sees me, and I think it's
(30:59):
you know, sums up, Well, it's fun time for you and Mark
your husband, Um with just afine horse and any you know, you
have thoughts of expanding your breeding operationssince now you your stakes winning breeders and
people are saying, hey, theykind of know what they're doing. Do
you have any thoughts on expanding I'dlike to. I'd like to. I
(31:25):
have I have two three year oldsright now. Okay, I have a
Philly out of Cowgirl Cocktail by Harborthe Gold Promising, Yes. And then
I have a Guilding by Coast Guardand that is out of our Mayor Southern
(31:49):
Meeting that we went and purchased inKentucky. And that's along the meet Cela
Southern City Lights Bloodlines that we've racedup at Emerald too. So those are
those are the two mayors that Ihave left. I'm i probably the three
(32:10):
year old. Philly is injured herfoot when she was young, and I'm
not quite sure about racing just yetwith her. I'm riding her and I'm
kind of seeing where what how muchshe can take kind of a thing.
She may unfortunately just have to bea brudemare, but I'm hopeful. Hey,
(32:30):
that sounds great, And you knowthe fact that you ride a little
bit that adds to your overall expertisetoo in getting you know, I mean,
I don't know how much input youwant to give Niccolo and all that,
but at least I have a lotof opinions. Anyone will tell you
that. Um and I did youknow I wrote on the track? I
(32:52):
pony it on the track. Iwrote a lot in the offseason, denieda
and getting ready to move in toEmerald when I was younger and sinner,
and I've kind of moved away fromthat and just now pretty much just use
my my quarter horses to work cowsand have fun. I've done the show
(33:15):
World so and I worked for aVET for sixteen years, so I have
a I have a pretty good horseybackground. Yeah, I guess, but
I tend to leave the racing stuffto the racing trainers. Well mostly,
you know, that doesn't sound badeither. I don't that they'd probably like
it that way, but at leastyou have a educated eye on all different
(33:38):
things that are going on out there, and I feel I feel like I
have a good grasp on it.Racing is, you know, and it's
changing. It's since the first time, you know, we've started doing this,
it's it's had a whole major overhaul. Well, uh, yeah,
you have some young ones and maybeit's more on the way. So for
(34:01):
right now, you have an enjoyablesummer ahead of you. At least it's
off to a great start. AndI'm sure it is you. You've probably
had some pretty interesting conversations with JodyPete's over the last few years, because
you just mentioned how you like totoss out your opinions around and Jody certainly
(34:22):
isn't shy that way either. Jodyand I have way too much fun together.
Um, yeah, we Jody hasbeen a great mentor and a great
friend throughout this whole process, andChris the same way. I just I
don't know that I would have keptracing had I not. You don't found
(34:42):
them, that's great, they've They'vejust been so supportive and so helpful throughout
this and encouraging. It can bekind of a hard field to get into
when you're kind of an outsider. And Chris was here last week weekend as
well as Joey. He was.I made her get in my wind picture.
(35:04):
I said, that's great. Wellagain, congrats and uh, you
know, could be a fun summeralready off to a great start. Bridle
up to the bar, taking theBudweiser for breeders Mark and Holly Rideman.
And Holly, you're not sharing ownershipwith him, so you got the bulk
(35:27):
of the paycheck there, which iscool for you. But I'm just going
off the official notices on the papershere. Well, that the Cowgirl mirror.
Technically that was my pick and everybodywas horrified with my pick at that
sale. So when my husband doesn'twant to acknowledge, he says, oh,
just just put it in your name, okay. And so this time
(35:52):
it worked out in my favorite bigtime. It did. Hollie, thanked
so much for joining us and againfor having Yeah, it's great to talk
to people involved in this game, and you have a lot of the different
areas covered and now a steake's winningowner and your first try that's even better.
So much, thanks all regulations.Yeah, take care, see you
(36:15):
down the road. You well,Thank you so much. Holly Rideman joining
us on horse Racing Northwest a greatwin and uh you know she could,
with a little bit forward movement, become an important breeder in this state.
You know, when you win asteak like that and from the small crop,
(36:36):
you know, yeah, when youcome up with a horse like that,
you know what you're doing. Andshe sounds like a great mentorship with
people like Chris as a trainer andnow Knucklow and Jody certainly, and the
ownership and training part of it toois that's some good company to keep because
they've won a lot of big stuffhere over the years and now all he's
done it. Yeah and what abackground, you know, working for a
(36:59):
vet all those years and right understanding. Yeah really really, I had no
idea she was I knew she wasin, but boy, that's that's great
stuff. Yeah, she can. She's got bragging rights on Jody in a
few areas there. Look, Jody, I've done that and I've done this.
Jody's had a horse at the meetingthough. Yeah, but I mean
being doing the vet work. Ohsure, yeah, Okay, sorry about
(37:20):
that, Jody. If you're listening, she's gonna I'll hear about that from
her. Hey. Uh, speakingof Bridle up to the bar and we
talked about all those horses. Uhyou know, Bill, you mentioned zes
Bol a winner of you know, seven hundred thousand dollars and a man's man
um. Yeah, there's some horsesthat could be on that long acre's mile
trail. August thirteenth and Vince, you mentioned a couple to Tom Harbor background
(37:46):
and five star general. Yeah.In fact, we're gonna have to get
in touch with Grant Forrester or thetrainer now a five star general. See
what the plans are there that youknow, there were some rumblings that they
could be looking at them this year. For owner Kennel had a yeah,
definitely and he would certainly fit. He's uh, you know, he hit
(38:07):
the board just about everything here lastyear and uh, and he's gone around
the country now and done really good. Um. One other horse Joe I
noticed is back on the work tabis the big Wham oh good or last
year Washington Bread two year old lastyear and he's had about six works down
in southern California, So he's gettingpretty close to something so to hear.
(38:28):
Yeah, great to see him backin training because he really did have a
big two year old campaign. Justfiling up in five star General I looked
up. You know he won thatrace down in Louisiana, right, And
he's been working every seven days inthe month of June and even in late
May as well, so he's he'sput together five six workouts in a row.
(38:49):
Here, So that's that's always avery good sign to see steady training.
Yeah, and uh Zabra Cadabra,a son of Harbor the Gold,
is the current leading among all Washingtonbread horses. He's run I think it's
all for At Laurel. He's wontwo and had two seconds. He's got
one hundred and twelve thousand. Iwonder if he knows about the mile at
(39:09):
horses. He's tried a couple ofsteaks back east by the way he started
his career. His first career startwas in Washington. He's Harbor the Gold
and he's leading our state. Andhe was I think third last year in
earnings among Washington breads and number threein earnings. My Harbor's Dream is also
(39:30):
Harbor of the Gold. Yeah,Harbor of the Gold. He just got
claimed at the closing weekend at SantaAnita. I saw one guy claimed two
horses out of the same race, and he ran him. At Delaware and
My Harbor's Dream won a big pot. Excuse me, at Monmouth he's number
three in earning. So Harbor theGold has his last crop of yearlings.
At this August summer Wtboa Sail thelast runners sired by Harbor the Gold to
(39:57):
go through the WTB. Parkley hashis first, Yeah, Barkley's first,
Harvard the Gold's last, and Hardthe Golds still pretty strong influence. Okay,
we're gonna come back with our grandparentsrace winner. This will be fun
talking with Steve Butler and more inour final segment here on horse racing Northwest.

(41:04):
what you do an easy drive fromwherever you are. All roads lead to
Muchael Shoe Casino, Muco Shoe andthey're off at a grandparents derby. Oh
we had a spell. Another spell. Hopefully everybody is okay. That was
(41:27):
last Sunday's Grandparents Race at Emerald Downs. Yeah, a grandparents race and it
really caught a lot of attention fromthe media. I mean, we have
that opportunity here fellas at Emerald Downsto use the racetrack for things in between
race, and we do. Butthat was a new concept. And we
(41:50):
have the winner of the first everGrandparents Race at Emeraldowns. Steve Butler joining
us on horse Racing Northwest. Steve, Hello and congratulations. Well, thank
you, thank you. It wasquite a surprise for me as well.
Steve. You know, how didyou hear about it? Were you just
coming out with your wife that day? Or tell us how you got Demerald
(42:13):
Downs last Sunday. Well, mywife and I just thought we'd go to
the horse races. We really enjoyedwatching the horses run, and then they
had the grandparents race. So Iwent out and ran, and my wife
was a little bit embarrassed that Idid, but I did anyway, so
and I was surprised to win.It was very unusual to run on the
(42:35):
horse track was a less softer thanI thought it would be right. That
thing's all cushioned up and you know, fairly deep for a human. But
the horses have four legs. Theyget through it pretty good. And Steve,
Steve Butler I ever got through itpretty good too. You had a
couple of as Bill called it,you had a couple of people that maybe
were a fraction ahead of you. They went down and and uh, you
(43:00):
were intense. Did you notice that? I did notice why I saw the
replay and the four people that wentdown, it looks like they took some
pretty hard balls. You weren't questioningyour decision. Once you see the other
people going down, You're like,oh my god, what alf what have
I got myself into? Did youdo any warming up? Did you do
(43:22):
any stretching? Good? Yeah, that was I saw Steve talking to two
people the winter Circle, and I, um, I followed you to where
you sat with your wife there onthe ape track apron in the in the
bench's seats, and uh, Iknew I was going to send the video
(43:44):
to the local TV stations, whichwe get pretty good airing of our feature
race on Sunday, especially if there'sstakes races. We had a couple of
good stakes on Sunday and then andand you know, let's face it,
you know, you get home runsin baseball and wins the tennis match,
and the Mariners play and Emerald Downshas a stretch run. But they like
(44:07):
to see things different too, Andwhoever heard of a grandparents race before?
And then you know, you hada couple of people. I actually got
replies from two of the TV stationsof those guys that failed. Did they
get hurt? And I had heardthat they got right up and saw it.
Actually, so nobody got hurt. And Steve, it turns out,
(44:29):
I think one of the questions Iasked you, I just wanted a couple
bits of information. When's the lasttime you had a foot race? And
what did you tell me? Steve? Well, it was probably in high
school, which was fifty years ago, and but that was the last time.
Steve was a lineman for Cascade HighSchool's football team, and you guys
(44:49):
had a little lineman foot race,a short one in practice someday you said,
oh, yes, we had lotsof lots of running Cascade High.
And Everett still been ever at huh, we do, I do? That's
great? Well, you know we'vehave got so much play off this as
social media can go kind of crazy, the local TVs. I've got inquiries
(45:14):
from radio stations as well that youknow, they said that was really something.
You know, again, it hita niche. Everybody knows what a
race is. I mean, weall grow up, you know, running
against our neighbor friends and stuff, and everybody knows what a race is,
and this was a unique niche andman alive. How about your family,
(45:37):
your neighborhood, your friends. Haveyou heard from a few people, you
know, it's amazing. I geta lot of calls and people I haven't
heard from in a long time arecalling me, and it was It's been
a lot of fun. So Ihope you do it again next year.
It was a lot of fun.Yeah, you've come down there strutting around
as defending champ, you know. And I heard it in the crowd after
(46:00):
the thing that oh man, Ididn't know about that. I'd have done
that, you know I would havedone Yeah. Well, I don't know
how well you would have done. But you looked like you were in pretty
good shape there you were striding out. Okay, did you do you do
more in walking now? And then? Still? Yes, yes, I
played a little pickleball and I doa lot of walking. Yeah, very
(46:21):
good. Steve Butler, our GrandparentsRace winner from air Brett. I think
did you get an ice cream?I think everybody got ice cream after the
race. Everybody was yeah, werun pretty fast if the ice cream was
there. Yeah, I was rewardedwith ice cream. Yeah. So the
(46:42):
number of hits inquiries. Actually, you know what you made CNN. I
mean I told you that night Igo, you know, you can watch
TV that night. I'm sure they'regoing to play it. I know a
couple stations will play it, andthen maybe even on some of those morning
news shows, which also happened locally. But Gene Most of CNN, who
has done you know, hundreds andhundreds and hundreds of stories for CNN over
(47:07):
the years, you know, alot of human interest type stuff. She
did a story on it. Actually, that's why I understand. Yeah,
I'll have to look that up andwatch it. Yeah, Jeanie Most And
anyway, I'm glad you had agood time and you get some notoriety as
the first grandparents race winner. Maybethe first grandparents race ever, you know,
could have happened at a family picnicsomewhere near some lake in some state
(47:30):
in some point. But we're thefirst one that's known about it, and
you want it. So I justwanted to catch up with you and congratulate
you and just a little smile inthe summer of twenty three for Steve Butler
and his family. Well, thankyou very much. Let me know when
(47:52):
it happens next year, and I'llcome on down and try to defend my
title. We'll do that, Steve, thanks for joining us. Man.
Well, thank you for asking.Okay, Steve, Steve Butler of Everett
and formerly of Cascade High One ofWell, Vince, you didn't go to
high school and Everett, did you? You lived there for a while to
winita? Yeah, but no,I lived up that way for many years.
(48:13):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Soanyway, good stuff there. Okay,
Uh, let's hit the selections part. Vince is working on Monday's morning
line. I think we got somedecent racing this weekend. Bill. Uh,
let's see. I'll go to Fridayor no, Saturday. We're not
racing on Friday. This is Friday. I uh, did I rated down
(48:37):
there? Let's you got anything there? Bill? Yeah, I got stuff.
Okay, I'll give you a threeso three all right, Bill's bill
has been working it today? Yep, yep um so. Fourth race on
Saturday, Claimer fifteen now is athree lifetime the one crazy About You did
(49:01):
the dirty work last time out,but took the worst of it at the
start. You know, sometimes troublelions don't really quantify. You can't tell
how bad of a start a horsehad. Could be a brush and they
call it a bump. But CrazyAbout You got clobered at the start and
did the dirty work and got passedfor second and still came back on to
(49:23):
finish second. Does they have therail so a decent start would be would
be nice. It looks like there'ssome speed in the race. Headstart,
Lady Attitude among others and Crazy AboutYou will not be far off the pace
and Carlos Montago stays aboard nine totwo and Vince's morning line. The fourth
on Saturday. Fifth race on Saturday, going a mile, condition twenty five
(49:46):
claimer the four orcs. He comesback quick for Luciano Gabriel Medina and closed
from the clouds on I thought wasa very speed favoring track and I think
going to a mile third race offthe long layoff. I think the Orksey
will improve even a little bit more. He does have five of his six
(50:07):
wins at the mile distance and he'sbeen in six for a long races.
So Orcsey in the fifth race onSaturday and then in the third race on
Sunday, made Gusta Luna, thesix ran in the Seattle Stakes. She
had the check on the turn andshe didn't give up. She ran out
evenly after that. That was arace where Aloha Breeze ran away from the
(50:30):
field and Magusta Luna is in forit claiming price, but sometimes you got
to do that. At least it'sa decent claiming price thirty thousand if someone
wants to get her. She's sevento two in the line to race wide
open race. I couldn't really exout anybody, but I'd like to make
Gusta Luna. So there you go. There's three of them. Yeah,
okay, there's some good good anglesand data met Gusta Luna coming out of
(50:54):
a steak. You know, Ithought miss Lynn is going to run a
good race on Sunday. She isin the sixth race. She has lost
eleven straight since she won the Seattleand I think Blazing Bella Blue was in
that Seattle of twenty twenty one,ran fourth. I believe correct, that
is right? Okay, Well, anyway, miss Lynn had a super hot
(51:16):
pace to run into that day andthen she was stakes placed a couple of
times after that as a three yearold. Didn't do anything last year this
year a couple of thirds. Butguys, there's a lot of speed in
that sixth race, that phillion Mairesprint. You know, miss Lynn that
last race, she made a nice, really nice move into the lane.
In fact, I thought for amoment, wow, this horse mate,
(51:37):
get there, I thought the samething. Yeah, and she ran really
good. Okay, well at eightto one, I think she is worth
a good look on the sixth onSunday. She's owned by Ron Bollman,
who's also the breeder. Ron wasthird in the Grandparents' race. Was and
he had a typical Ron Bollman.SA saw him today and I said,
(51:58):
Ron, you ran third in there, And I went wrong. Well,
I didn't, you know, Ididn't really try at the beginning because I
didn't want to really win it.And and I said, oh, come
on, Ron, and then hegoes, well, I was the oldest
guy in the race, I think, I go, yeah, I go,
the guy that won it was sixtyeight. No, he was fifty
one. No, I know.I talked to the guy Ron, he
was sixty eight. He went toCascade High played in the football team fifty
(52:21):
years ago. And oh, Ithink, by the way, if you're
going to do the grandparents race, why why did I have one for the
grandmas their own race and then thegranddad's the other one? That because you
use the gate, you know, unless unless you're able to get to the
front of the gate, you're notgonna be able to win. I think
you're exactly right. You know what, that's probably gonna happen next year.
(52:43):
Well, there you go. Iwas thinking about that gate thing because next
year there's probably going to be asundred grand tell wess. And that's my
my contribution to marketing for next year. So then anyway, Bowman h bolan
U. He said, yeah,he's no, I got he's sixty eight.
He goes, oh, I go, did you talk to him?
No, but I heard he wasfifty one. No, but Ron,
(53:07):
it was the oldest guy in therace and did really well. And you
know, Ron's a hell of aguy. He is. Oh no,
he's you remember when Misslin did winthat steak and we were both really happy
because he's put up a lot ofmoney over the years, and you know,
he's a breeder. He's a breeder. It's funny, and an owner
and he's been a kind of agood sport when things weren't going so great,
you know, and uh, hedeserved it. He's got three in
(53:29):
this weekend too, all his allof his uh yeah, the Gold Coast
Racing had another one in I'm tryingto remember was one on Monday, the
Okay Maiden that didn't get off toa good start. He was telling me
I was watching did Ron tell youthat or did you not remember it night?
No? Well, well I didn'tknow at the time because we didn't
have entries up yet for for Monday. So he he told me as I
(53:51):
was walking in today so and andthat she has in so I can probably
figure it out, all right,Yeah, Okay, there's some selections again,
lots of horses entered on Monday,so that'll be coming out real soon,
in fact, if it's not alreadyavailable. Racing Saturday, Sunday and
Monday at Emeraldowns this weekend Saturday, first race at five pm. That's Tomorrow,
(54:15):
July first, Then Sunday first raceat two pm, and Monday,
the third of July, first raceat five pm, the fireworks show afterwards.
Gates open on Monday at noon.Get here early because that's parking can
be a little going to be alittle rough later on that night. So
yeah, you'll be if you gota good idea to get here a little
(54:36):
early Monday, if you're able.Okay, sports shorts, guys, my
bill, you want to start usoff today. Well, the Seattle Mariners
are in the not doing well. They're thirty eight and forty one, and
I was at the game on Wednesdayand they lost well at four to one.
I think it was Logan Gilbert wason the mound, gave up three
(54:57):
runs in the top of the firstdating. I was just barely walking in
and we were down three nothing, and they could have that was it because
all they had was a solo homerfrom Caballero and that was it. They
lost two or three to the lonelylonely Washington Washington team. And they had
an even bigger killer loss the nightbefore where they had bases loaded the bottom
(55:22):
of the tenth inning. You know, they had leads throughout the game,
and they went to extra inn nobodyout, nobody out, three, four
or five hitters come right up.All they need is that, you know,
I didn't hear about this one.All they had to do is push,
push over a run, you know, even you know, fly out
or just a weak grounder that isnot hit right at somebody and they win
the game. And they couldn't doit out out out and uh and they
(55:45):
lost that game. And then theycame back and our manager, Scott's service
putting in, you know, someguys because it was a it was a
day game, after a night game, after an extra ink. So we're
putting out the AJ Pollock and DylanMoore and um, I can't really fault
Tom Murphy the backup catcher, becausehe's done all right this year for a
(56:06):
backup catcher. He was in thelineup as well. And they just don't
have they don't have the answers. They got to play the Tampa Bay this
weekend and then they're on the roadat San Francisco and at Houston. And
San Francisco's pretty good this year andHouston, you know, it's not as
good as they have been, butthey're here's still there's still someone you gotta
be reckoned with. So they're they'rethey're they do not have a good path
(56:30):
to the All Star break. Um, they're three hundred, five hundred and
I don't know. And you know, they got an easier schedule right after
the All Star break in August. But it's nothing like last year where where
you can just you sat there inmid August to the end and they're playing
all the worst teams in the leagueand they got hot at that time and
(56:50):
it was a nice season. ButI'm looking for ways to how this team
is going to come out of theduldrums, and I don't see it.
I don't see it. And ifthere are too many holes in the line
if they're five or six hundred, five hundred at the All Star break,
terrible bench, yeah, good pitching, no bench at all. Yeah.
Yeah. A lot of people saidbefore the season that was a thin lineup
(57:12):
and if things went wrong, theycould really go wrong. It's a miracle.
They're thirty eight and forty one tellsyou how good their pitching has been.
Yeah, they're disaster and extra innings. They won all those one run
games the last couple of years, not anymore. I mean, you know,
Munos has been back and he's beengreat, and but you know then
they lost that. They lost thatgame, that extrating game they put seawalled
in before. Mounos and Seawall justdidn't understand that either. But there's your
(57:38):
state of the Mariners. Okay.I was going to talk about the All
Star Game in seventy nine, butI know I've done that before in the
podcast. I don't really have thatmuch to say other than the that the
pregame warm up Dave Winfield, DaveParker, and I think one of the
expos might have been Ellis Valentine.Anyway, they were putting on a show
(57:59):
with their arms, cannons thrown fromdeep right field. Well, and then
we saw it later in the gameParker Parker threw somebody out. But Blaine
Wright already has a steak win thisyear and as two will win away from
a thousand. Yeah. So BlaineWright, you know, relatively young guy,
really doing well in the training game. Blaine Wright, Tom Wenzell,
(58:22):
Nicolo, Troyoni, and Charlie Essexhave one stakes. Blaine has five seasons
of leading Stakes trainer at Emerald Downs. He's just one behind Doris Harwood,
who did it six times, Sohe can tie that mark this year if
he continued, and he has alot of contenders. We know that he's
got a lot of two year oldsas well, and that'll be interesting to
(58:44):
see the two year olds because Blainehas many well bred ones, and so
does Frank Lucarelli among just two trainersto name. So just a little update
in our all time trainer steak standings. Vince Well, I saw something today,
you know better. I should havedouble checked the sword, but he
was. ESPN put out the topten ranked the top ten coaches in the
(59:07):
NFL. Right now. I guesswho was not on the list, Pete
Carroll and he has never still wonCoach of the Year. Now and if
Pete Carroll is not one of theten best coach in the NFL, then
then Lebron James isn't one of theten best players the NBA since two thousand.
I mean that's just absurd. Imean, you know they take it
for granted. So in the jobhe did last year, Vince got in
on that. Last year he tookthe Seahawks over I did, and mainly
(59:30):
was because of Pete Carroll and itwas over after that. And you know,
I've been a big, big fanof here because he won me over
since I was very skeptical when hecame up from USC. I thought it
was a lot of braggadocio and allthat, and maybe even some chicanery.
But no, he's the real dealas a person, and he's you know,
(59:50):
he is a players coach. Butthe minute you can't help the team,
like all good coaches, he's ruthless. You're gone. And he's done
a heck of a job. SoI mean, you know, sometimes usually
Coaches of the Years are won byguys who's got the most improved team,
right, Isn't that kind of howit goes? Sometimes the team that wasn't
expected to do great that has agreat year and the people go that way.
(01:00:13):
I understand it. But he's neverwon it, And to say he's
not one of the ten best coachesin the league to me is wrong.
Do we remember who won it lastyear? Because Pete Carroll had a tremendous
season with the Hawks. You knowthey anyway, he didn't we know that.
Okay, a little bit of kudosfor Pete Carroll not in the top
ten. I saw they ranked. They ranked rosters too, and Seattle as
(01:00:37):
the twelfth best roster right now inthe NFL. See, that's something.
I don't know a lot about thetotal personnel, but they should be a
pretty good team this year in defense, yeah, which wasn't great last year.
But we'll see how Geno Smith doesthis year. And so he's a
little bit of surprise last year. And then pretty soon we'll get Bill's take
(01:00:57):
on the Packers their first year withoutJeez you know who at the Helm.
Yeah, and I will give youa sneak preview. Bill is happy to
see the man gone. I wouldbe too at this point, but I
used to be a big fan.Okay, so anymore from the sports end,
Bill, Oh, I did tohear one of my favorite jockeys from
(01:01:22):
my old stopping grounds, Indiana Grantwhen I was there. Deshaun Parker had
an incident on Tuesday where horse fellback on him and he broke his pelvis
and he just had surgery and he'sdoing okay, they said, as the
surgery went well. But one ofthe good guys in racing, Deshaun Parker
(01:01:45):
is on the mend. If youwill from a broken pelvis, which just
hurts me even talking about. Ithink he's a former Wolf Memorial winner two
yep, wow one or the thingon brightle up to the bar. He's
five what do we say, fivefor ten lifetimes? Think he's five for
nine, five for nine and hehas been in those five wins, been
(01:02:05):
ridden by four different jockeys, andhe's never been favored in any of his
wins. No kid, Yeah,so just when baby al Davis would like
him. Yeah, better's best friendthe long shot winners. Yeah, although
he did get hammered on Sunday,he almost went favored as it was like
three point six first loose to hiswhiz in three point seven right up to
the bar. Yeah, they werereally closest in the odds. Okay,
(01:02:30):
we'll end it with our trivia. We didn't get any submissions from last week's
question, and it wasn't easy. But the most recent time we had a
twelve horse field and an Emerald DownStakes race other than a long acres mile,
of course, we had one Sundayin the Budweiser before that. When
was it, Well, it wasthe twenty nineteen Gottstein Futurity Race Day over
(01:02:52):
unmatchable and that was a twelve horsefield. Muncy was favored in that race.
He's still going pretty well. AndMuncy or excuse me the other two
race race home no race day byrace home, No, we meant race
day is the stud race Race Home? Yeah, race and Munci is in
(01:03:13):
that is one of the saltiest raceson fourth race and if you like him,
you'll get a price again. Andhe's finished i believe twice two times
in a row at Big Oys.Yeah. Yeah, Howard's horses are running
really good. He's fired well Muncyokay, So nobody's got that one,
um, But that's okay because they'renot going to be easy. So this
(01:03:34):
week's question a little bit easier.Send your answers to trivia at emeraldowns dot
com. Parent and child name thecombinations of parent and child who have been
leading stakes trainers at Emerald Down.So either a mommy and her son or
