"Philly are 11th in the Eastern Conference. To climb above the playoff line, they'll need to beat Cincy, hope D.C. or Montréal lose, and hold the goal differential tiebreaker. Anything less than that and the Union miss their first playoffs since 2017." I figured this was a good way to describe the episode! Always great to hear Seba talk Eagles though. -SB

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Ex President of the Sons of Ben Matt Chantastic Ax
Had Kappo, Adam Booth X Player and forever a Union
legend Sebastian Latoo. These may be axes, but they're the
experts when it comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is
Axis in the U.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Welcome back everybody. It's another week in the Union Verse.
This is Excess in the U, episode number twenty three. Again,
as always, I am joined by Adam Booth and the
legend Sebastiana.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Two gentlemen, how are we doing this week? Doing great?
Doing great? No game, so it means no lose or
no win. But I went to the Eagles game this
weekend and the one, so even if they play not
very good, I guess as I'm I'm not a cons
of football, but it was. It was a bit boring,

(00:58):
but the one, so yeah, they did win.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Adam had the weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Look, the Phillies can't hurt me no more, so there'sh
you know. I actually I got some work done, played
a couple of video games I haven't played in a while,
so you know, it was a nice little weekend for
the boy.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I got to the Octoberfest celebration at the Armory on Saturday.
No incidents, so that was good. Made it home alive,
and then went down to w Annapolis to look at
sailboats that I can't afford.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
So that was a nice day.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
And I only briefly looked at the Eagles game, so
I didn't get the full pain of that from the Union.
So now we can regroup because we're ending the international
break and we're getting into our big game. But let's
first go into that international game. I have to admit

(01:52):
I did not watch it, but the US men's they
beat Panama. How exciting was that for you?

Speaker 5 (01:58):
Adam? Were you like call us USA again?

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I'm this as we've known from the last couple of pods.
I've been very upset with the United States soccer team
just because of you know, roster, construction, direction, all things
in between. But I got to say, look, you did
what you were supposed to do. You want a game
against a team that's inferior, you did so in convincing
enough fashion.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
You know, I think that you can build on it.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
But it's it's also again it's Panama, right like I
and no disrespect to the Panaminians, but if you were
wanting to be a person who's competing with the top
teams in the world.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
You should be beating Panama, you know, you should be.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Doing that on a regular basis, especially on you know,
relatively good roster terms during a break where you can
actually have a full compliment, you know. So hats off
to the boys. They did what they were supposed to do.
And do I feel good about US soccer?

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Not really?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Do I feel gently better than I did going into
the match? Yeah, sure, but that's about it, honestly, Sebastian.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Did you get a chance to see any highlights lowlights
of USA VERSUS Panama?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
No, totally disconnected this weekend and even watch any game.
I saw that Ty Baribos started against Friends when they lost,
you know, in Friends, but he was starting that game.
And I just saw Friends beating Belgium two one and
the US beating Panama. But I never saw anything. I
was of the soccer world for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yeah, as we all need to do. But yeah, we're
beginning the Ponchettino error. You know, former PSG Chelsea Tottenham
manager looks like he's got the respect of the guys.
They're saying his training is you know, more intense, but
one thing. No, we play Mexico tonight and Pallistic, McKenny, Stephen,

(04:00):
Ricardo pepe Fozzi or all return into their club teams,
so no replacements. He's going in with a thinner squad
against Mexico. But then again, it's a good chance for
him to see more of the unknowns that he may
not have known. But they played tonight ten thirty pm.
I doubt I'll be tuning into that. I'd like to
say I could stay up and watch that, but we'll see.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Let's gett something more important, more near and dear to
our hearts. The Union Place Saturday, the nineteenth, six pm
decision day against Cincinnati. Let's kind of break down Cincinnati.
Which one of you guys wants.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
To go first?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
The ex capo or the current radio n.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Go ahead of them.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Okay, well, gentlemen, let me tell you about the dudes
from the corner of Ohio that are actually decent at soccer.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
But I think we can beat look the Forum right now.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
For the Union, it's tough to hold because I think
level of opponent has to also be taken into caliber.
The last couple of matches that they had, it's a
winnable match. You know, the fact of the matter is
Cincinnati is not really going anywhere in terms of their positioning.
Everyone's kind of locked in in one way or another.

(05:17):
And for me, if you want this, take this. You know,
this should be a game that the Union should feel
that they should just attack and know that. Look, your
season's on the line, my guy. You know there's nothing
to do but throw the literal kitchen sink at this.
You know you should be putting three up top to
start the game. You know you should probably be maintaining

(05:39):
uh wing moments that have guys like in Baiso and
Wagner way upfield and all parts in between. This is
an all hands on deck situation. And I just think
you know, coming into it, you've played well against Cincinnati
in the last couple of matches. You know, all things considered,
You're they're not a boog man to you where they

(06:01):
are to with a lot of other teams in the league.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Right now, go get it.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah, yeah, like philosophy, just go get this right now.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
It's all in front of you.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Smastial thoughts on pacing Cincinnati for it feels like the
fifteenth time this season.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, I think I agree with with what I was
thinking about the fact that Cincinnati has nothing to play
or you know, this weekend they lock at the Cell place,
they cannot get up, they cannot go down. So was
the motivation going to be high for Cincinnati or they're
just going to kind of get a training session of
this game to get ready for their first round. He
might be in the advantage of the Union, but I

(06:38):
think we just should play like we have nothing to lose,
you know, just have a let's say a more offense,
might need to score early, get the energy to crowd,
you know, get a good maybe last game at home
if it's our last game, and yeah, I haven't played
the foot potential, and and just win the game. And
at the end of of the day, you know, they win,

(07:01):
and then we just need some hope and the faith
of Montreal or DC losing and we will hopefully get
the eight or nine place of the playoff. But it's
it's just the last game, and I think for them,
it's just put a full performance, you know, to kind

(07:22):
of make the fan happy and finish on a high note.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, it's inn't It's just basically in the Union's hands.
I know Cincinnati, they faced three playoff teams in their
last three games and lost off three. So so maybe
we're seeing a team that's on the down and like
we all said, they don't have really thing anything to
play for playoff wise, just to try to tune up
for the playoffs. A to explain the breakdown of the playoffs,

(07:51):
and I think Joe Tansey, I'm gonna give him credit
because he kind of spelled it out. Union win, Montreal loses,
DC loses good, Union win, Montreal lose, is Atlanta loses
or draws, we're in Union win. Montreal loses. Union own
tie breaker advantage over Atlanta. Union win, DC loses, Atlanta

(08:11):
loses or draws, Union win, DC loses. Yeah, so that's
kind of we definitely need to win. We need d
C to lose, Montreal to lose, and there's maybe some
draw options because of point differential and games. It's just
going to be complicated, and I think we're not really
gonna know what's going to happen until after the game

(08:33):
because everybody plays at six o'clock.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
You got too complicated matter on this. It's it's simple,
simpler than that. It's Union need to win for sure.
So if we don't win, we don't make it. That's
already the number one. And after the Union wins d
C Montreal need to lose one of the two. If
they both die, we don't make it. If they both win,
we don't make it. And that's it. So it's it's

(08:58):
as important. We need more oh DC to lose with
the Union to win and we make it. Then are
we at home? Are we away? It just depends about
you know, the other results, but we need one of
them to lose to be sure to have one playoff game.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Okay, so we need one win, yeah, for ourselves, and
we need one of those two.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
To lose exactly, and then we figure it out, like
you say, after the game. Are we in eight? Are
we nine? Depending on like what other team are doing,
and then that.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Game fights for the right to play MESSI in Miami
and to start with exactly.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
And both of those clubs are playing playoff caliber teams
right now. Cincinnati or so you have DC United is
playing Charlotte Charlotte. We have Montreal's playing NYCFC. So both
of them are at home though, so both teams are
playing at home, which I mean obviously teams fair better

(09:55):
at home, but they are playing teams that may have
some positioning in their minds, may have some than to
play for, they do it tune up as well. I mean,
the only thing that's fair that I fear about all
of this is because of Cincinnati's poor form in their
last three matches. They lost against New York, they lost
against Orlando, and they lost against LAFC. Do they try
to play this game a little bit harder just to

(10:16):
give themselves some you know, momentum to go into the playoffs.
You know, that's the only thing.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
That worries me.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
You know, they haven't had they had that break where
miasgo is out for a while, They had that break
where you know, they didn't.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Have a full compliment.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
So it's it's weird for me to see what I
think with Cincinnati would try to do going into this
last little stretch.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah, I can't. I've been wondering that myself. If Pat
Noonan is using this as more of a rest game,
a training session, or is it a.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Tune up.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Police had a bye week and they underperformed against the Mets,
who had to play in.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
And were hot.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
So do you go for keeping a strong momental of
every guy's playing or do you try to rest some
guys that I'm not sure maybe maybe Sebastian, you have
any insights into that. I think we might have lost
him for a quick second there, Adam, Yeah, he's backstage

(11:19):
if the okay, Yeah, So that's what we're gonna have
to figure out, is what what how motivated the Cincinnati
gonna be just to let us, you know know.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
What, what's the result of this game?

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Now, speaking of playoffs, Adam, Union two historic playoff match
on that Sunday, the twentieth, the kids are going to
be playing in Chester and if you are a season
ticket holder, you can get a seven dollars ticket.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
I didn't know if you saw that or not.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
I did not see that.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
I was gonna go down regardless because, as you know,
I just love myself some you two to begin with.
But you know, this is great that the season ticket
holders can get down there. I've seen the crowds over
the over the season get bigger and bigger. Obviously, having
a man like Cavin Sullivan definitely helps that.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
But uh man, having a small child by the name
of Cavin something definitely helped that.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
But yeah, look it is it is a moment to
revel in these guys who are really really good. You know,
they've been consistent and they are exactly the representation of
the Union Academy. You would think they're they're they're a
town a bunch.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, I am flying in from Boston. I get in
on the five o'clockish time, So I am debating on
just taking the cab straight down and catching the second
half for that Sunday game. So that's where I'm at.
Whether seven dollars ticket or ten dollars ticket, I'm willing
to fork over the big bucks to see the kids play. Subaly,
you think you're going to catch a Union two game
on Sunday, Yeah, I think I'll be there.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
I'll be I'll be watching them. Uh.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
I mean it's a big, a big game for the
club playoffs, you know, and the saying you know who
cand of help you know the team maybe, when of
course it is the competition in the same time, you know,
prefer to for.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Next year as well. Who could be you know one
of those guys who joined right away and know the
preseason for the first team. So it's a it's a
big game, but hopefully they keep playing as much well
that they did during the regular season. They should have
a full squad, you know for that game.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Too before you we had some technical difficulties to let
everybody know. But Adam and I were just curious, maybe
for your thoughts. Do you think Pat noon and for
this game coming Cincinnati versus the Union, you think he's
going to use this as maybe a training session rest
some guys. Or do you think because their last three

(13:53):
performances weren't that good, is he going to try to
put you know, his foot on the gas and get
these guys tuned up for a playoff? Do you what
kind of aggressive Cincinnati team or non aggressive team do
you think we might see? Knowing I mean, you know
Pat pretty well, so just wondering what your thoughts are.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
I mean, I think it's going to take excitiously and
I think in the head of pattern and it's like, hey,
if we can kick out Philadelphia Union out of the playoffs, let's,
you know, let's do it. Because he knows that during
the playff everything can happen. He probably prefers to have
the Union out of the picture, and in so the
motivation is right here for him and his team. Then

(14:31):
it's all mental I think for the player of Cincinnati
because a lot of them are they you know, fully arrested.
You know they are going to think about, hey, I
want to play the Homeme game in a playoff, you
know the following week, do I give a hundred percent?
Do I want to be injured? You know, it's kind
of a little mental knowing that there's not much motivation
besides the fact that I just said we can kick

(14:54):
the Union out of the playoffs. So I don't know
in which way is going to prepare his team. It's
kind of a bit different knowing that he has some
let's say history with the club and Jim Curtain, and
they know each other Crystal Bright as well, so I'm
sure he will not mind kicking us out of the playoff.
But after just the mentality of Cincinnati, I don't think

(15:15):
you're going to see Luca and Acosta running as hard
as he will if he was a real player game
or meaning something for them to get maybe the second place.
So I think we need to be careful defensively because
they are going to be trying to get goals out
of us, spoiling asleep or pushing some number forward. But
then you know it's still a very good team, So

(15:35):
we'll see, but I don't think the motivation will be
as much as he meant something compared to like Adam
was saying when I got kicked out in backstage. Like
the game from All Montreal against New York CITDFC, I
like this match up because in New York CITFC, even
if they already qualify, they need to fight for the
fourth place, you know, qualificating for the playoffs, which is

(15:57):
huge for them, you know, to be at home, you know,
and and playing twice if the series goes bad for them.
And in the same way too for Charlotte playing in DC,
I mean, Charlotte mine, I'm like, I don't want to
play Columbus right now. There are seven they play Columbus,
and for me, Columbus is the best team, like even
the Union is the Union play Columbus. Columbus is so

(16:17):
hard to beat, Like it's the team that we have
been very struggling against them at home or away. They
are good. So I'm Charlotte, I'm like, we have a chance,
maybe pass in front of New York City, have the
Red Bull story above us. Let's try to win that
game as well. So there's motivation from Charlotte and New
York City cy to try to beat Montreal and DC.

(16:38):
So those games, I'm going to be saying very close.
We're all going to be following the John Botron and
the score alert, you know, during the Union game to
see what's going on. But it's going to be close.
But the motivation I think it's here for both of
the team who play Montreal and DC. It's not like
a game like Cincinnati is kind of like all right,
kind of whatever. Yes, should we take this as a

(17:00):
competition practice, for sure, But I don't think the aff
would be the same that if you really cancel something else.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Now, Adam, I have a question for you, judging, you know,
trying to test your sports knowledge. If New York City
gets home field advantage, will they be playing in Yankee
Stadium or City Field? With the Yankees' playoff.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Runt, so I have it on relative good authority that
the location of their playoff game would be Red Bull Arena.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Basically, if the Mets and the Yankees continue to play
further into the playoffs, it would just be impossible for
them to be able to convert either both either stadium
or both stadiums into soccer stadiums and then back into
baseball stadiums, And obviously they would prioritize them teams be

(17:54):
in the in the respective World Series series. So if
it's a Subway series specifically, NYCFC is probably gonna have
to play most of their games in ren Bull Arena.
I also heard the doomsday scenario of East Hartford.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Wow. Heard that was the doomsday scenario for them.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Was if Red Bull is also competing at a high
level and they're competing, and both of the teams are
in the World Series, that they would.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
Possibly go to East Hartford.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
I say, cut the whole thing and just send them
to Providence, even though that technically might be New England
Revolution territory at that point, I don't know where the
line is.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
Because technically Connecticut's and New England, but they let play
in New England anyway.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
More, all of the story is they really need to
build that stadium in Queen's really soon.

Speaker 7 (18:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
That I couldn't even imagine. And I thought of that
scenario a little bit of go go wow. Both baseball
teams are in the postseason, what happens to these guys?
Are they going to be homeless playing in Central Park? Somewhere,
but worse, they might be in Harrison, New Jersey. So well,
it's definitely going to be an interesting decision day. And
I think, like Sebastian said, I think everybody at Super

(19:06):
U Park is going to be glued to the scoreboards
that Jumble will try on their phones. I'm going to
be on my laptop up in Boston and probably set
up another laptop just to try to see another game.
I'm not sure. It's just going to be an interesting
decision day. And I know Sebastian, you're doing radio with Dave, right,
So do you guys have other scores popping in around

(19:27):
you from the booth or yeah?

Speaker 3 (19:29):
I mean I would have my computer on one probably
Dave would have the computer I pad on the other,
and you know we would be commented in the Union
game at the same time, so you probably would hear
us setting some reaction as soon as we see something
happen in both of those games.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah, so I'm going to try to tune in to
you on the radio while muting the Apple broadcast while
looking at something else. So it's if you have any
touch of add this is your kind of game, because
you're going.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
To be all over the place for this one.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
All right, Well, let's just a little league news. End
of the season awards were nominated. Union did have some
people nominated. But you know who wasn't nominated for Goalkeeper
of the Year. Andre Blake might be the first time
in a long time. I mean, you know, he missed
so many games it wasn't gonna happen. But it was
odd looking at that list and they list like twenty

(20:20):
three players for every nomination. You know, I think Gasdyke
was part of the landon Donovan MVP Award.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
He was nominated some.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Somehow, some way, even though it's a two person, three
person race. But now, first time in a long time.
I haven't seen Andre Blake on that list. But you know,
we've got a couple of guys.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
On the list.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
I don't foresee any end of the season awards coming
our way, but that's to be expected. But the twenty
twenty four twenty two to under twenty two list was
released by mlssoccer dot Com. Number three on that list
atam you want to guess, I mean, you got the notes.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
It's an easy guess. You'd think I actually opened the notes.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
That's a door here.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
I'll want you number three. That was Jack McGlynn, right, yeah, yeah,
I just remember.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
The list because I actually pay attention to MLS socials.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, Quinn Sullivan got number eight and the one I
thought was pretty funny was number eighteen was Kevin Sullivan?

Speaker 5 (21:21):
All right?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
That real quick, Sebastian, I want to step on you
on this one, but that's just propaganda, and I don't
know what we're doing about this.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
I mean, that's just we all should be ashamed that
MLS did that. Like, no, no, no, he's not.

Speaker 8 (21:36):
You can't even you can't legitimately sit here and tell
me that because it's not like an under seventeen list.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Now, there are people who.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Are allowed to be eight years older than him and
still on this list. You tell me there's not twenty
two of those people.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yet his brothers played fifty some more games in MLS
and he's only ten spots above them.

Speaker 5 (21:59):
It's look, look bless his heart. But no, I this.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Was more like a Tiger Beat magazine than MLS Soccer
put this list out.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
We have that conversation the other day about the supporter
shield and the value of it, and soshaklist saying it's
very valuable and Dason Card He's saying, no, it's not.
Everybody in between having their own thoughts about it, And
part of it was the value of the supporter shield
because of Messi's existence in Major League Soccer and how
they put more emphasis on it because of like, you know,

(22:32):
it's a trophy he can win. But I just I
find it fascinating some of the lengths that MLS will
occasionally go to to market this league that are just shameless,
and putting Cavin Sullivan on the twenty two under twenty
two is a shameless way of trying to market your league,
no more than less.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
I didn't even look to see who's below him after
I saw Cavin on there, I just was I.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
Would be mad if I'm number nineteen, If I'm number
I like know, he the hell is not better than me?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
What do you mean?

Speaker 5 (23:02):
What is he done? What is he physically done?

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Sebastian, did you see this list?

Speaker 5 (23:07):
You know what we're ranning about?

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Or I did, But you know, it's been a couple
of a couple of years pretty much every year like this,
Uh you know, you know, no no comment, let's say,
you know, because whether the people decided. Sometimes I'm just
kind of like, do you watch the league? Do you
watch the.

Speaker 7 (23:26):
Players you know who're you know playing It's a yeah,
it's definitely very disrespectful for a lot of guys who
are under twenty two and which.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
You know, yeah he has he has nothing to do
with the talent of Kevin you know, or no he
has a but if it's about what they did this season,
he did nothing. Yeah, he just came on two games.
So it's a yeah, it's a very interesting the way
they decide. But I will, like, I really enjoy the

(23:58):
analysis of about uh whatever I'm saying. It's it's pretty accurate, Adam.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
The names are David Martinez from Los Angeles, Christian McFarland
from New York City, David in Miami, Peyton.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
Yeah. I pulled up and.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
I'm like, look, I'm mad for I'm mad for these
guys because it just can't be true.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
It just literally can't be true. If you're doing potential.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
Ratings, Because here's the irony. You're doing potential ratings, Cavin
should be like three, like what are we doing? Like
if you're saying like who has the greatest ceiling? If
you're doing marketability, marketability.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Cavin could be one or two.

Speaker 8 (24:41):
Because but if you're telling me physically right now, in
Major League Soccer, these are the top twenty two people
under twenty two.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
There is no way Cavin Sullivan is in the top fifty.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah, listen.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
As a Union fan, I'm a fan of the academy,
I'm just glad we got three on the list, no
matter what. So that's great.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
There, I bet you right now there's a person right
now in the Union roster probably more deserving than that.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
Yeah, or Union too, or Union two. But Andrew Rick
deserves this something. Jesus Christ, what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Like?

Speaker 8 (25:14):
It's like he at least as an eighteen year old,
has had good games, it's had a shutout, has done something.

Speaker 5 (25:21):
Kevin's played forty five minutes.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah, well, hey, just wanted to bring that up. I
thought I thought Sebastian and I could get a get
a good, good laugh at your analysis of this. And
you did not disappoint my friend, not at all.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
All.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Right, So we know the playoffs schedule wild Cards Wednesday,
the twenty third round one starts best a three series
on the twenty sixth, that goes into November. The tenth
Conference Semis November twenty third, so with the whole Thanksgiving
weekend to the twenty fourth and conference finals November thirtieth
to December first, and then ML's Cup December seventh.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
So hopefully the.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Union can make this interesting. So we have some stuff
to talk about from October twenty third till December the seventh.
If not, it's gonna be a weird off season for us.
You know, we're gonna have to start the off season
in October, not in November December like we're used to.
So that's gonna be interesting at all. And we will
cover the playoffs, talk to people as well as discuss

(26:21):
the you know, what the off season for the Union
will be, and we will as our schedules kind of
align US three. We'll be getting more guests on to
discuss that. But around the soccer world news, Adam, your
friend Jurgen Klop is going to be the head of
global soccer at Red Bull. I always knew you couldn't

(26:42):
trust that guy, but I don't know, Sebastian, what does
that job mean. He's the head of global soccer for
Red Bull. Do you even know what that would mean?

Speaker 5 (26:51):
Like?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
What does he is this just a figurehead? Does he boss,
every coach around, every sporting director.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
I have no clue. That's a good question to ask game.
I think you know, or we can get him on.
It's a great title.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Yeah, that's like the ruler of the world.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
But not I don't know what he means. Maybe he
means everything you just said. Who knows. But for Red Bulls,
you know, it's a a good marketing as well to
have him as a as a head of whatever it is.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Yeah, I just wonder if he'll ever step foot into Harrison,
New Jersey Stadium.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I'm sure it. Wait, especially who's a World Cup coming, You'll.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Be in north of Jersey quite a bit, I feel.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Look, I'm what I'm more excited to see is will
he be in the paddock for you know, when Red
Bull come down for the racing at Austin this weekend.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
You know, are we going to do.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
That full marketing, full red Bull marketing and have him
next to Max for stopping?

Speaker 3 (27:50):
You know?

Speaker 4 (27:50):
That's if I'm Red Bull. I'm just trying to like
because that's what this is. It's just a company trying
to like literally say we have the best of the
We sell you energy drinks. That's what we started with
We started with selling you weird tasting energy drinks and
now we are in We're making people fall out of

(28:12):
space capsules at like nine ten million feet in the air.
We're having people do weird jumps into into lakes and
man made trick contraptions. We also own racing and we
also own six soccer teams and now we have Urgen Club.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yeah, we're gonna see what's in store for for Red Bull.
A lot of international soccer and I don't think I
want to bore anybody, but the UEFA Nations League, we
had tail end of the Champions League, some NWSL. Of
course US soccer is we've got that Premier League begins again.
La Liga starts up League one, Adam, your Siris starts

(28:52):
up again.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
So we've gound a lot more soccer. Oh you have
something it's no siri ba s b Oh, that's right,
you're appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Yeah, So we have a lot of soccer coming up, guys,
and and we don't have that much other news except
for I did mention it and we had the interviews
at the tail end of last pod. If you skipped
it by accident, they're on the very end. But Sons
have been. Elections are coming up. They they announced it already,
the positions. They didn't announce all of the names yet.

(29:24):
You can still nominate yourself or nominate a current member
to run. I don't know if you can nominate a
current member. I think you have to put your hat
in the ring. Like I don't think I can just
go in and say Adam Booth should be the merchandise
person because he likes jerseys.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
But Adam Booth.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Could say he wants to be the merchandise member at large. No,
Adam doesn't want to do that.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
I want no. I'm so tired in my day to
day life.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
No, So no elections for Adam. But we will talk
about this in future pods to let everybody know what's
going on with that, as well as some of the
other groups, because some of the groups are on the
fringes of fading away and some are trying to get reorganized.
So we will let you know.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
I think that's all.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
The off season stuff that's going on that we have
coming up. Guys, do you have anything else? This is
kind of a short one today, but Adam, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Real quick.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Shout out to my guy Jeremy Sharpey the former Capo extraordinaire,
which is overall good guy. He's the head coach of
spring Ford High School's men's soccer team and they are
in the semi finals today of the PI Double A.
I believe Colonial District one Athletic Playoffs because that's how

(30:48):
many jurisdictions they are, So congratulations to him. The only
problem is he's playing my album Mater Upper Marion High
School today, So go Vikings, but go for him as well,
you know, good for him. I'm getting this far, but
I hope the Vikings win today. So yeah, that's uh.
You know, that's local soccer.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
News for you.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
And you're heading are you heading up to this?

Speaker 5 (31:10):
It's in Quakertown. Otherwise, I thought about the quaker Town's like.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
A forty five minute drive on a good day, and
I'm not really in the mood to do all of that.
And it was a little bit closer, I definitely would
have made it, though, But you know, go go Vikings.
They haven't been good in soccer since I was there
and I wasn't playing for varsity, so there it is.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Well then, for for what we'll have to do for
this pot is I have a feeling somebody on this
pot is going to see some playoffs soccer regardless Seba
Shipley making the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
This year, Yes, we are, we are already so it's
next week for us, so it'd beenugh time to prepare.
So we'll see. We'll see what happened to them. Back
on the on the Red Bull Just so you know,
the Red Bull just bought a new team, if you're
so no, the French new team Pari.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Yeah, I literally I just saw that the other day.
They just bought Paris.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Yeah, so now you know, it will be the first
time that Paris will have maybe two teams in first
division because right now they are doing well in the
second division and if some money arrived from the Red
Bulls and other investors, it looked like that it would
be a big, you know, competititive team in Paris, which
you know, we all know in London they have so many,

(32:24):
but in Paris there is just one. So it'd be
interesting to see. So maybe your gun is going to
be involved in a in this as well.

Speaker 5 (32:33):
Parisian Darby sounds fantastic.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Also, yeah, we did it, but you know, well who
would have been your team as a I mean, I
know I know you're going to grow up in Paris.
But with PSG being the global powerhouse, out of those two,
who would you have preferred as a.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Youth As a youth. I mean, it just we had
never had a two teams in Paris, you know, I
never grew up knowing there was. It was one, like
a long time ago. It was it's called the Red Stars.
It was one of the Paris team. It's a bit outside,
you know, but it was kind of the second big
team around Paris. But other than that, it was not

(33:11):
really anybody. So you never knew. Like in London, you know,
there's so many teams, so many clubs, but you never
grew up like this in France. So I'm always co
partly PG because I grew up with them. So even
if the other team arrived and they would be maybe
the main city of Paris, you know, they could be,
but it's it'll be just PG for me because I

(33:33):
grew up with them. But I am from Rahn and
RAHN is my team, so that's it. I'm not going
to change for any other Paris team because clubs.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Matthew, well, no, listen, I mean he does have a
little bit of affiliation with Red Bull wasn't sure if
that was enough to swam. You know, you might have
you might have a Red Bull jersey hanging up?

Speaker 5 (33:56):
Did you red Bulls? Actually?

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Yeah, did I frame a red Board jelsey?

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (34:01):
I did frame one red Board jerlseys, but not mine.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
His energy drink adjacent family. You know you had that
time there.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, and uh, you know it was a short time
and I don't remember a lot, but I got one
of my idol soccer player j which was Cherry Rie,
and uh, that's it. I think it was. That's why
I played there. Probably, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Honestly, I would have.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
I would have might have played for Red Bull for
a while just to play with Terry Onree too. I
think that would be worth the price of admission.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
There only player in in Philadelphia sports history. I remember
coming back in a heated Rivals jersey and nobody booed.
There's more golf collaps than anything. When you were back in,
back in when it was PPL Park, when you came in, like,
people were genuinely confused how to react to you on

(34:53):
the field. When you played for Red Bull. We were
like what do we do?

Speaker 5 (34:56):
We're like, we can't boo.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
This man, but we can't cheer for him because he's
with Red Bull and we know we shouldn't have gotten
rid of them, and so we're like, good, good job.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
That was I mean, I said, I started, I started
on the bench at the game, and I think we
Beaton's threezer already when I came on the fields. So
it was not much for you to be stated mad about.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
So you haven't been in Philadelphia long enough we can
be mad. We're mad at our coach for winning a
game against.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
The Browns, yes, true, but anyway, but yeah, it was
a you know, for me, it's the same not really
know how to be young. But I knew it was
going to come back, so that's the most important.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
Well, everyone, you ever go to Capo at New England
when I ever come back, and then we'll have we'll
have the same icy kind of moment.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
Everyone's gonna get me side eye. It's gonna be great.
I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Everyone, Thanks for tuning in. This was episode twenty three.
We are on pins and needles awaiting the Cincinnati game.
So looking forward to talking next week because we're either
going to have a lot to celebrate or a lot
to dissect. Everyone, Thanks Saba, thank you so much, Adam,
thank you. We'll talk to you all next week.
