(00:00):
This is the home of the Wildcats. Six thirty WLAP Welcome Back Stockyards Banks,
Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I amAnthony White along with Jack Pilgrim and
Larry Vault, coming to you fromClark's Main Street, Marcus Studios and beautiful
downtown Lex, Kentucky, where afterthe show my little cousins made the championship.

(00:23):
I will be going over to theBluegrass Invitational Tour. But Bo Robinson,
that is not the only tour goingon and Central Kentucky, is you
are correct? One of these toursI went on yesterday excited to share with
both you and Jack and Anthony thatexperienced the Bourbon Legends Tour firsthand yesterday my
sister Lacey. She created an unforgettablejourney to the heart of Bourbon history,

(00:48):
allowing us to visit the final restingplaces of iconic figures like Pappy Van Winkle
and Jim Beam. The highlight forme, though, was the exclusive straight
from the Barrel tastes at Watch Hill, Proper, unique opportunity that truly showcased
the Spirit's complexity and craftsmanship and travelingin style made possible by the impressive Mercedes

(01:10):
Sprinter van, which added an extralayer of comfort and luxury to our memorable
tour special thanks to Ken Robinson, owner of Bourbon Bond Bonds here in Lexington,
joined us and brought several of hisbombbonds to enjoy, made with wild
turkey, and I'm telling you theywere delicious. Pleasantly surprised to learn that

(01:32):
every tour guest is also a memberof the Bourbon Legends VIP Club. Nice
surprise include exclusive Bourbon related discounts andend of life downloadable guides. And Lacey
also I didn't know this until yesterdaywhen I went on the tour. She
makes donations to every cemetery visited onbehalf of each tour group and she still

(01:53):
has seats available for July twentieth. There's a Bourbon Legends Tour dot com to
resis deserve your seats today this KenRobinson, you speak of any relation both
not as of yet, but Iknow my dad and Ken will be talking
in the future and trying to maybemake that connection somewhere. But when we

(02:15):
were all doing the introductions yesterday,Lacy had introduced my dad and I and
then she introduced Ken, and allfour of us kind of looked at each
other like wait a minute, Hangon for a second. What was your
last name? Again? What wasyour last name? So the great thing
about this was everybody was so greaton the tour that we all had different
discussions about everything, whether it wasBourbon, Kentucky basketball, Louisville athletics,

(02:39):
rock and roll, concerts, bondbonds and desserts, and it really was
a bonding experience with people you justdon't know. And somehow my sister has
made all this come together and it'sdone a really masterful job at all of
this. So hats off to mysister. This was a great tour,
a very well spent fun on Saturday. Thank you for that. Both,

(03:05):
get back to talking some sports, because in this state, only things that
matter horse sports, Kentucky sports,I should say in Bourbon. We were
talking before Jack Pilgrim and I wastrying to find out and there's not a
whole lot of chatter, you know, Larry vaud and I Now I don't
exactly need you to comment on JasperJohnson in general, but what type of

(03:30):
names are we looking at? Youknow, we're typically big on who who's
coming next year? You know,we get our roster rounded out for this
year, and you know, thepast fifteen years has always been oh,
who do you have next year?Who are the top fifteen players in the
country. Do you do you have? Are you getting that kind of feedback
now where you know, the toprated players in the country you're tracking for

(03:52):
UK purposes or is that or arethere any names that we're looking for next
year? Are we confident on fillingout the roster since we have a lot
of transfers that probably won't be backto school just in general because of age
and graduation. Yeah. And Ithink we're in a really unique time too,
because we're officially able to start transitioninginto you know, high school recruiting

(04:16):
mode and what that looks like. Some of the guys that like that we're
going after in the twenty twenty fiveand twenty twenty six classes. You know,
the people around the program will tellyou, we just haven't had time
to even look that direction. Youknow, hit hit on some of the
local guys, hit on Jasper, hit on Malachi Marino, guys that you
know, you could you know, get go into your back porch and find

(04:39):
pretty easily. But in terms ofdigging deeper and going you know, expanding
wider, those things were kind ofmeant for the next couple of weeks and
going into the heat of the summer. So uh, this weekend is actually
a really really important one for theFor the next weekend is the EYB Elevant
in Indianapolis. I'll be there. It's the first live period of with Mark

(05:00):
Pope as the head coach, sohe will be there sitting courtside watching all
of these kids up close and personalfor the very first time, wearing Kentucky
across his chest. So we getto see kind of you know, follow
him around, see who he's watching, who he's prioritizing, what that looks
like. Is he truly going tobe going after the best of the best
of the best? You know, the EYB l is the strongest circuit by

(05:23):
a mile, and you know, the best of the best play there.
So we'll get to see up closeand personally what that looks like, who
he's prioritizing, if you know,he's truly going to recruit like John cal
Perry did at Kentucky and trying toget the top ten recruits, or you
know, are we going to seehim pop up at some random you know,
Adidas in in under armour and Pumaand some of these other shoe circuits

(05:46):
with lower rank talent but better fitspotentially for Mark Pope system. We're going
to learn all those things in thenext couple of weeks and and you know,
into the heat of the summer. But this weekend is the big one
first because it's the first live periodfor Mark Opez head coach. I do
have other questions. Let's let's getto the phone lines though, while we

(06:08):
still have you, because maybe callfor you. So let's get to the
phone line and see what Alvin hasto say. Good morning, Alvin,
what you got for us? Hey, good morning guys. You know only
this this Mother's Day where we celebratethe great matriarchs in our family. I
always think about sports, uh,young men in sports, UH, particularly

(06:30):
uh you know African American kids whosemother always went to sign them up to
play youth sports and always gathered themthrough uh all stages of the sports life,
even when they get into the professionallevel. I remember seeing guys that
maybe catch a touchdown or make aplay on but the ABC Monday Night football

(06:54):
back in the day, they wouldalways say hi, Mom, not that
they never didn't have a father, but they always acknowledged their mother uh and
that mothers were always instrumental in theirkid's life when it came to uh to
sports, guiding them through it,making sure that they had the proper etiquette

(07:15):
and respect for their coaches and etcetera. So I just wanted to make
that point and and bring that outthat you know, mothers has always been
instrumental uh in sports and goat intheir kids. Well, I appreciate that.
Thank you for the car Alan, that is makes sense. I do
remember as a kid, everybody says, uh, get the cameras. The

(07:38):
NFL did that for a long time. They would have videos back to back
every time they're paying the camera,Hello mom, uh whatever. Uh.
I did want to ask Larry Vaughtthe same question I kind of asked Jack
Pilgrim about the whole recruiting thing. As far as, uh, this is
Mark Pope's first opportunity to go outand and look at some young talent.

(08:01):
What do what do you expect oranticipate as far as the amount of are
we looking at bringing four three, four five? What would what do you
think would be Mark pope sweet spotfor as far as even if it's top
talent, I mean top twenty fiveif he if he can get the top
one or two, I'm assuming thathe would go after number one in two.

(08:24):
But are we looking still at gettingfour or five freshman or you think
he's cool with two or three thatfits his system and rounding it out with
in the portal, we're just goingto live in the portal? Well,
well, I would kind of bounceJack's expertise here, But my guess is
at this stage Mark probably won't knowwhat's what's going to best fit his system

(08:46):
because it's going to be so different. He's not going to have to recruit.
I don't think he's going to recruita completely new team last year.
He's going to at least know somepieces that he's going to have to fit
others around. But I think he'llkind of and his assistants will be kind
of just feeling their way and saying, Okay, is this guy somebody will
not sure if we can recruit itup, but now what we can,

(09:09):
and let's see what happens. Canwe just go out and get some of
these elite elite We're going to holdoff and wait and see who transfers.
I think it'll be an interesting nextfew months for Mark and his staff as
they try to evaluate what's out theirhigh school wise Jack and then kind of
weigh that with how much do wewant to wait then and see what might

(09:31):
be available then to us when thetransfer portal gets here again. I think
this is kind of still a newterritory for Mark, and I think him
and Jason Hart and ab Allan Brooksthe third and they'll be kind of just
figuring that out as they go along, I think. So I don't know
that there'll be a definite pattern, and if something pops they might say,
well, yeah, let's go jumpon that right now, even though they

(09:54):
weren't planning on it. So Ithink it's going to be a lot of
unexpected and a lot of adjustments ofthis kind of have to make as they
see what the progress is and whothey can get in with and who they
can't. Jack. Based off whatLarry said, I know, he kind
of said he wants to leverage yourknowledge on the whole whole deal. I

(10:16):
think there's still a conversation just askingyou these questions. I think there's still
a conversation of if we are livingin the portal, have we made any
progress as far as if we havefive players that are going to leave this
year, is that the same asus having five to one and dons that
are leaving next year. If we'regoing to live in the portal where you're
constructing a new roster every year,is that a possibility? Jack? Is

(10:39):
that something you will vote that maybe the future? Or you think after
he gets his first class or toend, you know, we'll just we'll
have some growth in guys will staytwo or three years. I think that's
a great question. I think that'ssomething that he's having to navigate right now.
And you know, look at aguy, look at his the way

(11:01):
he handled the great osib Or recruitment. That's another kid that had one year
of eligibility remaining high anil demands, was expecting to have all the touches and
shots and all that stuff in hisfinal year of eligibility. And then you
have a guy like Brandon Garrison outof Oklahoma State, former McDonald's All American

(11:22):
top forty recruit in the country withthree years of eligibility left. It's kind
of the same dynamic of Okay, are we going to just load up on
one and Done's our version of oneand done's with grad transfer guys, or
are we going to find a balanceof Okay, let's go out of Trent
and Noah, let's go out ofTravis Perry. Let's go at an otega

(11:45):
Oway who has two years of eligibilityremaining with Brandon Garrison and try to build
out this roster with some complimentary fitsin terms of age, not just in
terms of style of play, butguys that you can trust and lean on
to be a round for a coupleof years. So it isn't just a
hard reset refilling a thirteen minion rosterevery single year, because you do have

(12:07):
to find that balance. And Ithink that's kind of a dynamic that Posts
been trying to juggle and say, well, we need instant impact guys.
This is our first run at it. We got to find a couple of
guys with experience that know, youknow, Lamont Butler is a perfect example.
He's been in the championship game.He hit a buzzer beater in the
Final four to advance to the championshipgame. That's a guy that I need

(12:28):
in my system, even if it'sfor just one sea one final season of
eligibility, and you know, builda core group of those guys, but
a lot of complimentary age fits thatare going to be around for a couple
of years that you can kind oflay the foundation with. So I think
he's done a really really good jobof kind of balancing that a little bit
and getting to this point, becauseyou know, it's it's a really really

(12:52):
tricky situation when you're having a kindof hit, hit, reset completely and
build from the ground up. SoI think I think he's done a tremendous
job out there, and we willsee how these next couple of weeks ago
with who he recruits moving forward,if he's going to continue that trend with
at the high school level. Allright, we'll continue this conversation on the
other side of this break. You'relistening to Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk

(13:13):
on news Radio six thirty WLAP.Welcome back Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk.
I am Anthony White along with JackPilgrim and Larry Vault. Stockyards Bank
is just strut your partner since nineteeno four. Head on over to syb
dot com for all your banking andfinancial needs. We got Jack Pilgrim for

(13:35):
one last segment. I guess ifyou want to try to get a call
in, you can hit us atA five nine to eight zero two two
eight seven A five nine to eightzero cats. Jack. Before we went
to break, you were talking aboutnext week being some of the operation of
what I guess Mark Pope's first opportunityto see a lot of talent gathered in
one place. If you had apick or I guess maybe carryovers from what

(14:03):
the last coaching staff were looking forand guys that you were ahead of,
because I know you stayed two orthree years ahead of the curve on guys
that we needed to get back. Then if there were some carriers from familiar
names that that Mark Pope would lookat next year, that you already would
what were already interested in coming hereor had already had conversations here? Are

(14:24):
there? Are there any of thosenames or what are some names that you
think will fit Mark Pope's system thatif when you go to Indy, if
you were to, if anyone wereto check it out, who names you
would be listening for. I knowit's a cop out answer, but Jasper
is a guy that I would pluginto any roster at any school under any

(14:45):
coach. I love Jasper I thinkthere's a very clear fit there. I
think that Pope has done a tremendousjob prioritizing him from day one. Uh,
you know, whenever whatever grade hewants to come out as if he
wants to stay in twenty twenty fiveclass up, I know he's planning on
making a decision later this summer.I think after Peach jam is the current

(15:07):
plan for Jasper. But I thinkhe's done a tremendous job of Pope has
done a great job putting himself ina position to potentially land him and just
kind of call what you know wheneverit is at that point. But you
know, beyond just kind of copout answers, you got to look at
a guy like Ada de Bonsa, the number one player in the country in
twenty twenty five, a generational talentthat if you can figure out a way

(15:30):
to make a statement and land hiscommitment. I mean, I don't think
it gets any better than that.Caleb Wilson's a guy that I like a
lot who has spoken highly of Kentuckyno matter who the head coach is.
I like what he said basically sayingthat you know, whether it's coach cal
or coach Pope or the Pope.It doesn't matter who's leading the programs.
It's still the University of Kentucky inthe sec of blue Blood, where you

(15:54):
can kind of get your game offin a way that you can't really at
other programs. So I think that'sone to keep an eye on that.
As long as Pope continues to kindof ramp up interest in contact that he's
going to always have an open listeningyear, which is, you know,
kind of half the battle with someof these kids. So we're filling wait
and see mode. But those aresome of my early favorites. Malachai Moreno

(16:17):
as well. Out of Great Crossing. That's gonna be another you know,
potential layup if Mark Pope really reallypushes for it. Larry Vaught, I
need some give us an inside scoop. Is Jasper, you know you close
enough to the family. I thinkwe'll see what goes with Jasper. I'm

(16:38):
still sticking that. I think he'llbe back playing at the high school level
somewhere next season. Will remain atwenty twenty five recruit, but as we've
learned in the last nine months, things can change a lot. But I
just think Jasper and his family havea pretty good plan for what they think
the next year is going to belike, and it would really take something

(17:00):
gigantic this summer, I think tochange that, and he doesn't. Well,
Like I said, I don't wantto put too much pressure on him
just because I know him or whatever. I do think it kind of seems
like his style. He's a catchand shoot guy. He can come off
screens and do a lot of thingsthat Mark Pope's offense does. So I
think that will give him opportunity towatch and see how Uh I've been involved

(17:23):
here at Kentucky see if things goas well as everybody plans, and that
gives him an opportunity to sit backand watch. But uh, I did
want to get Jack Pilgrim out ofhere with this. I know this is
Katie's first Mother's Day? Or isshe sitting and I don't want to get
you in any trouble? Is she? Are you gonna Are you going to

(17:45):
get your mother involved as well asthis all, Katie? No, Yeah,
it's it's uh. We're on ourway to her parents' house right now
for their you know, her familyside for Mother's Day, and this afternoon
in the evening will be at mymom's house where we'll be spreading the love

(18:06):
and you know, giving out allthe loves and hugs to the mothers in
our lives. And we're just veryvery grateful and very very blessed that we
have such a support system for ourlittle one. It's been an awesome year
and Katie has been at the headof the household for that one. I
couldn't do it without her. Soyeah, very very grateful this Mother's Day,

(18:26):
well, this is her first one. Tell her us at Sunday Morning
Sports Talk, which is her thebest one for the first one, and
hopefully they get better every year. And you guys go relax, make sure
you take care of all the misspilgrims says in your life. And Larry
Vaught and I will continue the showif you would like to join the show.

(18:47):
No, you cannot join the showbecause we have a guest. We
have Georgia Moore coming on after thisbreak to talk UK women's basketball, so
we will be back after this.Listen the Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk
on news Radio six thirty WLAP.This is the home of the Wildcats,
six thirty WLAP. Welcome back,Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk. I

(19:14):
am Anthony White along with Larry Vaught. This hour of Sunday Morning Sports Talk
is brought to you by Country BoyBrewing. We are efforting to get UK
all American guard Georgia of Moore onthe phone, and I'm I love Larry
for interviews that he gets us whereeverybody get a chance to get to know

(19:38):
people are athletes and some of thecoaches up close and personal. Because when
we interview on her, I thinkwe interviewed a little differently, just because
I like to interview differently when Iwas an athlete. I like different questions.
I don't like just the general questions. But Larry Vaught, if she
is in Australia, you do realizeit's like twelve thirty in the morning.

(20:06):
Yeah, but we're connecting through UK, so I'm gonna send I don't know
whether there's a chance both I gavehim the wrong number or not, but
tell him to check check his emailright quick. I'm going to send him
a couple of different numbers. Okay, Well I got it. Yeah,
We're good, Chef. I'm tellingyou, oh you okay, I'll email

(20:30):
you right now. Bo okay,So okay, So anyways we were so
before we get her on just alittle I guess a little background about them
more, uh, And that's whatI'm curious to hear. And I think
it's pretty obvious Coach Brooks had animpact because with the turnaround he's had averaging
your Tech and you know, thesepast last couple of years Averagingia Tech were

(20:52):
pretty good. And she ranks prettyhighly in a lot of different categories under
the time here and we're talking aboutthe transition to where they are, so
not just the history of Virginia Tech, but she's third in games started,
thirty points all time, and there'sthere's, like I said, there's a
lot of other categories where I feellike maybe I guess she could said better

(21:17):
that it's probably a testament to CoachBrooks rather than the program itself. Is
probably why she came to uh,why she came to Kentucky. Because she
stayed in Virginia Tech another year shecould she would probably be the all time
leading scorer. Larry Vaud do yourealize that, Yeah, she certainly would
have been. And like I say, I'm trying to camp, I don't

(21:40):
know what I've done wrong, butnot to connect bow and camp camera.
But hopefull they're connected now we'll getGeorgia on with us here here here shortly.
I don't if I sent bowl numberto start with or not. It
might have been my fault and Larry, I guess there hasn't been much conversation
with her here in Lexington's. Alot of people probably haven't heard her speak.

(22:02):
I'm assuming no, I don't thinkso, So hopefully we'll get this
connected. If not, I'll takeresponsibility for whatever has gone wrong, But
hopefully they'll get connected up here andwe'll have her wrong with us shortly.
That and you don't have to worryabout that, Larry Vault, because right
now we do have the All AmericanGuard, Kentucky's All American Guard, Georgia
A. Moore. Good morning, missus Moore. How are you doing?

(22:26):
Good morning? How are you?We are doing great? Are you in
Australia? I got to figure outwhat time you What time is it where
you're at? No, I'm notin Australia. Okay, good because I
told Larry Vaught we can't just beinterviewing people in the middle of the night.
No, no, no, I'mstill here. Okay with Georgia.
You'll be heading home soon though.Once you're with the chance to try out

(22:52):
or be part of the Olympic tryoutprocess. Yeah, I go home next
week and then I'm homes like fivedays and then I dip off the I
know, and there's a couple ofgames there. What are your chances of
making the team? Do you think? I have zero idea? Honestly.
Well, so let's let's talk aboutyou being a part of the University of

(23:15):
Kentucky wildcast. I was telling LarryVaught looking at your statue a third all
time at Virginia Tech, so thatI think, and I guess we both
assume that if you stayed Virginia Tech, you could be the all time leading
scorer. But you decide to cometo Kentucky. What went into that thought
process? What made you decide towant to leave Virginia Tech. Well,

(23:36):
I mean, I don't think Iwas going to get anywhere near close to
a leading scorer. My old teammatesshe had that pretty luck down. She
stayed a five years and did thatthing there. But I don't know,
it's a big decision for me.I think, you know, fifth year,
I could have left I could havegone home, I could have gone
pro. Like I had a lotto consider. But I mean, Coach
Brooks has made me into the playerI am today, and I know there's
so much more to to learn andto grow. And you know, keep

(24:00):
in mind that I'm an international student, so it's a it's a great opportunity
to go somewhere different and you knowexperience, you know, living overseas and
milking the most of it as Ican. But yeah, I think just
being a part of a school thathas all the facilities or the resources to

(24:22):
prep myself to be better when Ido go pro, because it's not really
a choice anymore. Like at theend of at the end of my time
at Kentucky, I I will haveto move on from the college lifestyle.
But you know, what better placeto do it than at Kentucky with Coach
Brooks. And I'm super excited andI'm very, very comfortable with my decision.
Georgeeness, what is there about coachBrooks that you like so much?

(24:48):
You're cutting into bit. What didyou say again? I said, well,
what is there about coach Brooks thatyou like so much that you wanted
to follow him to Kentucky? Yeah, he's just so personable. And I
mean I came here and I wasjust like not I had potential, and
potential is definitely a word you canthrow around a lot, and potential is

(25:10):
potential until you do something about it. But he helped me bring out a
player in me and developed me andstood by me for these four years because
I came over here and I wasstuck during COVID for two years. I
couldn't go and see my family.I didn't see my family for two years.
I was in the States, andyou know, my early times in
college were definitely tough, but allthroughout that he was there and he developed

(25:33):
me as a player, but hiswhole family was there for me as a
human. And I think, youknow, over the past four years,
we've done some pretty incredible things,and it's definitely a reciprocal relationship. I
mean, he's poured so much intome and made me a better player,
and as a result of me beinga better player, we've gone on and
done some pretty cool things and wonsome pretty cool things. So I mean,
it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. And I was only ever going

(25:56):
to get four or five years withhim, So why not use them all
and looking at like some of likeI said, you have some outstanding statistics
at UH Virginia Tech with you,I stated early your third all time scorer,
first and insists and first and assista turnover ratio. Uh in your
career there and you you do sayyou give Brooks and understand that you get.

(26:19):
But he he doesn't tell you whoto pass the ball to in the
heat of the game. He doesn'tmake you know, give you. He
doesn't tell you who who do youknow? He doesn't have the ability to
make in game decisions for you,so you know, just the the ability
to be able to shoot your secondall time and three pointers made. Uh,
those are things that are just you. Does he does he give you

(26:40):
the freedom to do those things?Or is it his system that allowed you
to accomplish these things? It's allfrom the amount of practice redo in the
amount of film we watched, Like, yeah, he doesn't tell me the
pastors, but we've watched film andI've like learned like time and place in
reading the plays and We've literally hadso many individuals and a lot that comes

(27:00):
down to like game decision and hegives me the freedom and a longer leash
for sure, because of all thetime he put them together. It's a
trust thing. It's not like Ijust go out there and I don't practice
and I just do whatever I want, Like that's just totally not the case.
We spent so much time together andhe was a point guard, and
you know, it's just I learnedfrom him and I put it in my

(27:22):
game. But yeah, definitely hoursupon hours of workouts and film for sure.
Georgia. When you were being recruitedinitially, your mom told me that
her and your father had no conceptof college basketball in the United States,
that you basically had to handle allyour own recruiting and put all this together

(27:45):
and all yourself. So how didcoach Brooks kind of initially get in contact
with you and how did he evenget you to the States to begin with.
So I was on the junior nationalteam and we were competing over in
Belarus, which is a tiny littlecountry near Russia, and they were just
conveniently there, I guess, andthey were watching some other player. But

(28:07):
when I started playing, they definitelygot to watch me and we started building
a relationship from them, and thenlater on I had a NBA Academy Tour
in Tampa, Florida during the Finalfour in like twenty and nineteen, and
they saw me there again. Idid not have many scholarship offers at all.
Virginia Take just happened to be oneof them, and it was the
best one I had. So Iwas like, you know what, why

(28:29):
not? Obviously Coach Brooks. Youknow, the relationship I built with him
from early on like helped me makethat decision. But in the back of
my mind, I was like,if I never go over to the States,
like I'll never know what it's like. And if I stay home,
like I can be comfortable, orI can go over and if I really
hate it, I'll just dip home. Like there's no secondod about it.
I was like, I might aswell take the chance and see how it
works out. And coming over herewith Coach Brooks, it seems like a

(28:52):
great deal. I know our fanbase is excited to have him, and
you know, have you as anaddition to our team. On the other
side of there, you being andyou all being in Lexting, Kentucky and
playing for the University of Kentucky. You have and I know the ACC has
a nice has a nice schedule.You do realize there's there's a l s
U S, there's an old missUh there, are you prepared? Are

(29:15):
you looking forward to playing against SouthCarolina and some of these big name coaches
and big programs. Uh that.I guess you guys were one of them
in the ACC at some point. But it's it's going to be it's going
to be a grinder. Are youare you are you ready for that?
Or is that part of the lurecoming to SEC? At some point?
We were a powerhouse for the pasttwo years. People did not want to

(29:36):
play us. But I mean,I'm definitely prepared. That was part of
the decision, was definitely coming overto SEC. And it's a different monster.
And you know, we played againstSEC teams you know in the past,
my past tw years, we playedagainst Tennessee LSU. You know,
we beat Kentucky in the Bahamas. So those games, you know, they
were always high high murder, highpower, had a lot of fun.

(29:57):
And I think going forward into myprofessional career, I think this was the
best step because these girls are someathletes. Like it's a whole new brand
of basketball, and you know,it's going to prepare me for future endeavors.
But you know, I'm excited because, as I said, I've played
LSU twice, I've played Tennessee twice, played Kentucky once. In previous years.

(30:17):
I can't even remember if I've playedany other SEC teams. But in
saying that, like, I'm excited, it's a new chapter. It's new,
it's exciting, very different brands tothe ACC. And I've done my
four years in the ACC and itwas fun and I think the Yeah,
the time I had there was great. But this is just new change.
It's going to prep me for futureendeavors. Georgia, I want to I

(30:40):
want to take a break because Idon't want to put you in a small
window. Can you stay with thefour one more segment? Yeah, Okay,
We're going to take a break andwe'll continue this conversation after that.

(31:00):
Stockyards Bank Sunday Morning Sports Talk.I'm Anthony White along with Larry Vaught,
and we are still joined by GeorgiaOrmore. Kentucky's All American guard and we
are talking women's basketball. Uh,George, I did want to ask you
before I want to break. Youtalked about the brand and you know where
things are now. How do youfeel after the past season, all the

(31:22):
attention that women's basketball got, andyou know, just yeah, I'm the
draft. This is probably the firstyear I watched the draft since maybe we
had Ryan Howard here a couple ofyears ago. But just the attention you
all have right now in college women'scollege basketball? How does how do you
how do you feel about that? How does that make you feel? Yeah,
I mean it's it's fantastic, andI think it's something that everyone has

(31:44):
worked so hard for and obviously youcan't not think about like the Trailblazers.
Obviously there's so many women before thisyear that deserve the attention that everyone's getting
now. But it's great. Ilove it. It's it's exciting. I
can't wait to see how it evolvesin the future. But yeah, there's

(32:06):
still a long way to go,but from where we're heading, it's fantastic.
Now. Georgia, I don't knowif you know, we're not in
Anthony White. It's with us andyou're talking to he's a former ll SEC
football player running back at Kentucky. But there was a time growing up were
you quite a football player too? There and the Australian Rules Football League to

(32:28):
where the boys sometimes got a littlefrustrated trying to stop you. Is that
what I've heard? Yeah, Igrew up playing footy. I played with
the boys, and obviously it gotto a point when I was maybe like
thirteen or forteen where I wasn't allowedto play with them anymore because like obviously
when the muscle and stuff like that. But I would still have loved to

(32:50):
play. That's actually what I wantedto do. Stay home, play pro
and play footy in the off season. But yeah, I was too quick
for them, so every time Irun past it, I would grab my
ponytail and try and call me back. What position did you play? Is
there? Are there a positionless? Is it kind of like people just line
up and everybody has an opportunity oris it like American style football or footy
as you call it. There's positions, but it's a bit more free flowing.

(33:14):
Obviously, you guys stop after everybloody possession. It gets annoying and
it's time wasting. But as ismore free flowing, and the guy the
guys are, they're fit. It'svery different to American football. In my
actual, unbiased opinion, I thinkit's a bit more exciting because there's stuff
happening every play American football, Iget confused while we're stopping all the damn
time. It's just so confusing. But I love it. I love both

(33:37):
footballs, and but I loved growingup as a kid. I think it
definitely made me, made me roughand in a good way, like I
can, I can take hits,I can fall down and get back up.
But yeah, for these a massivepart of me, and and I
still love it. And then I'vealso heard the story about how you played

(33:57):
your first basketball game. I don'tknow, is it true that your first
basketball game you were just had nointerest in even maybe even playing you just
when I even played in flip flopswhen you first started. Is that true?
Is that just a myth? No, it's true. I was watching
my cousin play and I was Iwasn't even supposed to be playing, but
a couple of the girls got fouledout. They just pulled me in from
the stands and yeahs and flip flopsand those my first games at what age

(34:22):
was that? Oh? I wasprobably about five wow wow? So uh
what? Uh? Well when wegot about two minutes left. But I
did want to do you have anyexpectations for the city of Lexington itself?
Or uh? Are you just enjoyingthe ride for your for your last season?

(34:44):
Mate. I'm telling you, Icame over here for my visit in
Blackberg, and I committed within twodays. Like, I have absolutely zero
expectations. I've never been to Lexington, but that's part of just who I
am. I see the opportunity,I take it. I'm excited. I've
heard it's great. Like coincidentally, when we played Notre Dame, my parents
were here and they drove to NotreDame and on the way back to Virginia,

(35:05):
they actually stopped in Lexington. Igrew up on a horse farm.
I grew up around horse racing. My grandfather was massive into horse racing,
and you know, my mom stilldoes things with horses at a job.
So they wanted to stop by Lexingtonand see what it's about. And they
said they loved it. They thoughtit was beautiful. So I'm taking their
word for it, and I'm takingeveryone else's word for it, and I
guess i'll see you sometime in July. Well, you will fit right in.

(35:28):
And we talked to coach Brooks andhe said he hasn't had a bad
meal yet here, so I'm sureyou're gonna be fair some of the best
food you've ever had, and we'relooking forward to getting you here in Lexington,
Georgia. Enjoy your Mother's Day.Call your mom and tell her,
uh, tell her Happy Mother's Dayfrom us, And we can't wait for
you to get here. I will, I appreciate it. I'm a bit

(35:49):
worried for the meals. You mighthave to contain me on that one,
but i've heard the same time.Oh no, you're going to enjoy it.
You go enjoy it, mark mywords. Thank you for joining us.
Thank you guys. Have a goodone, all right, thank you.
We'll be back after this. Wehave h I forgot the coach's name,
Larry. I'm not looking at myscript. Western Hill coach. God,

(36:14):
yeah, Vanderpool to talk a littlebit about Javon Campbell and Western Hills
football at the top of hour. We'll be back after this. Your listen
