It’s official, Josh Naylor and the Mariners inked a 5-year deal and we are pumped. It was a move that needed to happen for more than 1 reason and it’s not very often that we get to celebrate big free-agent signing as Mariners fans. :30- It seems like people are suddenly panicking (over-reacting) about Sam Darnold after a bad game in LA on Sunday and yes, it was a bad game, but how worried are we that the Seahawks have the right guy for the job? - In Atlanta, they may have lost Michael Penix Jr for the season, can Cousins step up and how concerned should Falcons fans be about another knee injury? - It’s a mess in Las Vegas, how panicked should they be about Geno Smith and Pete Carroll? :45- The College Football Playoff rankings get a refresh tonight, so how will things play out? Will Notre Dame keep climbing? Can Oklahoma jump them? How far will Alabama fall?

and Buck coming your way here today.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Aren't you really? I mean, I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
I realized what I got into when I moved here.
I've never really complained about the weather. But we've had
enough rain, had enough rain.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
It wasn't really rain too bad this morning, though, right
was it.

Speaker 6 (01:49):
I'm not saying this morning. I'm just being in general
like it just like it won't stop raining. Yeah, man,
had enough, had enough for a little while. Maybe maybe
we can get a little break from it.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, take a break.

Speaker 7 (02:01):
I mean, I just love how green it is. And
every time I get to where, I'm like, man, I'm damp.
I'm damp. I don't like being damp. I'm like, well,
it is beautiful. I got to look around and remember
that's why we it's as beautiful as it is most
of the year.

Speaker 6 (02:15):
Well, Josh Naylor was obviously not scared away by the
rain and drawn to the beauty that is the Pacific Northwest.
Because our first Baseman made it official yesterday he has
signed a brand new deal five years, ninety two point
five million dollars. Josh Naylor is going to remain a
Seattle Mariner. There will be a press conference a little

(02:37):
bit later on today we'll get to hear those kernels
of wisdom from one of the smartest, most intelligent, most
thoughtful people in all of Major League Baseball, Josh Naylor,
and also the principles that made it happen. So that's
coming a little bit later on today. We'll have a
chance tomorrow to kind of react to what we heard.

(02:57):
But certainly, I mean, I think it's one of those stories,
and I've been here a decade now and it's just
one of those stories where it just looks like it
worked out for more people than anything that I think
that we've come across that the front office got what
they want. Maybe the ownership didn't get exactly what they wanted,

(03:20):
but they did what they needed to do. Fan base
got what they want, media got what they want, and
based off of Josh Naylor's printed words yesterday, he got
exactly what he wanted as well.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Seems like he fell in love with this place.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
Yeah, that's great. I mean, you know, that's one of
the things you were hoping for, right is that when
he would get here and he did get here before
there was any rain. He got here right at the
best possible time when it comes to the weather, and
so maybe that was part of it. I think the
way in which the season went, you know, he had
some big moments. Then he gets to kind of reap

(03:55):
the rewards of what that feels like and how embraced
he was by the fan base. I think that there's
you know, kind of kudos to the fan base because
I think in large part when he was gonna possibly
miss games because of the birth of his first kid,
I think that there's some other fan bases that would
have been like, no, you do not miss a baseball

(04:16):
game for that, And I don't think that was the
overarching thought here. I think that may have played into
the whole thing, but it probably mostly comes down to
Jimmy Naylor just thinking I really like this group of
guys and I think that they're you know, that it's
a good team, and kind of wants to continue the
ride that he got to jump in on halfway through

(04:37):
the season and maybe see if he can help take
this team to heights that they have never reached.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
Well, you know, there it was a little bit dangerous
letting him hit the free agent market. I mean you
can kind of go back to the offseason where in
Stove Anders and I talked about the entire offseason the
addition of Josh Naylor. They decided not to make that
change cur and then they do it at the trading deadline,

(05:02):
and fine, you got him at the trading deadline. You
got him when it matters the most, and he helped
us win a division and certainly had enough time to
win over the fan base and be won over by
the organization and by the city. So it all worked out.
But had you add like a full gear with him,
maybe it would have been easier. Maybe you wouldn't have

(05:23):
run the risk of him getting to free agency. But
there certainly was a little bit of risk of him
getting to free agency. I mean the Mets, the Yankees,
the Red Sox, those are all three of the biggest
spenders in the sport, and they all need first basement.
I mean, the Dodgers don't need one, Cubs don't need one,
but those three are all looking for first baseman this offseason.

(05:47):
So when you let free agency begin and Josh Naylor
was not signed, I mean, he probably waits this out
the right way, and he probably makes more money than
what he ended up signing with. He probably gets those
three teams into a bidding war once Alonso Pete Alonso
chooses one of them over the other, then all of

(06:10):
a sudden he's got an opportunity to possibly cash in
on a bigger prize.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
But I love the fact. I love the fact that.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
The Mariners were out in front of this and that
Josh Naylor, and this would have been my judge of
his personality, wasn't about the highest offer that he could get.
He could have waited this out and saw if there
was a larger offer to get, but instead the Mariners
met him with a reasonable market value offer. My guess

(06:41):
is they probably wanted him for a four year deal,
maybe at eighty and he's like, Eh, this is my
one chance to really make my money in the major leagues.
So what I'm gonna do is ask for a five
and then I think that they probably did settle on that.
But the Mariners obviously came out of the gates with
something that he and his agency felt was very reasonable,

(07:05):
and he obviously didn't need to go test the market.
Why do I need to see greener pastures. I'm perfectly
happy here. I got the offer that I was hoping
for leading up to this process. I'm not gonna let
my agent screw this up for me. This is a
great place for me to be. This is a potentially

(07:27):
great team for the next few years, and I'm going
to be making great money, so i don't need to
make the most money.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
I'm happy with what we've got.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
So I think there were a lot of things that
went to work here that really worked out well, including
ownership offering something of reasonable market value right out of
the shoot.

Speaker 7 (07:47):
He definitely didn't play the long game. I mean, I
would have to think that as somebody else. The second
that the World Series was over and he could have
received calls or his agent could she calls it, somebody
would have been calling.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
I think that's we know that.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
The ownership, in the front office and the team, everybody
in Seattle was wanting Josh Naylor back, and I think
that they had said stuff like that that was well.
I know that the front office is that that's our
number one priority right when the season was over, right
and even before that, I think they probably had had
talks about like, well, you are a good fit here,
whether it's staying around the batting cage or bs and

(08:25):
in the clubhouse, and whether or not that was a hey,
we got a job to do right now, I could
see him being like, we got a job to do.
We'll take care of that business when it's time to
take care of that business. So I'm not sure how
it worked. If it was all right, you're a free
agent now, please let us have final say, right if
somebody contacts you, please let us have final say, or

(08:46):
if he was just playing and simple. He loved the clubhouse,
he loved the city, he loved what the potential is
here in Seattle, And basically they just started working on
this deal from the get go. Regardless of what was
going on behind the scenes, the front office stayed true
to their their their path or their plan, which was

(09:06):
we we went out there, we got this guy the
trade deadline. They you know, they don't like giving up
prospects to do that, and then doing so, you gave
up the basically the closest thing to a major league
ready first baseman and Tyler Locklear, and so I think
that they would like to they would have liked to
figure out how this thing went. And then as the
season went on, as the second half went on, with him,

(09:27):
maybe it probably became even more apparently we not only
would we like to keep him, we can't not keep
this guy. If we can get him for the right price,
then we you know, if we don't have to get
into a bidding war with somebody that would overpay for
his services, then let's do that. So they were on it.
They were on it from the get go. I'm sure
that they just were like, dude, just please here, take

(09:48):
this whatever whatever the cost is, if it's in this
in this realm, let's get this job done. And I'm
glad that they did because I think that he's he's
a guy that kind of brings a heartbeat to the
team that they were missing. I think as far as
the great ghosts.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Well, there's the other side of it. If they don't
get this deal done with him, whoo, I don't know
where you're searching for your first basement, because you're right,
they traded away the first basement of the closest thing
to the first basement of the future to get him,
which we're all good with. And they obviously aren't going
to go out there and pay top dollar for free

(10:21):
agencies free agency players. So Pete Alonso and Cody Bellinger
might very well price themselves out of the Seattle market.
And if you don't keep Naylor and he's on with
one of those other teams, Now, where are you searching?

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Where are you getting your first basement?

Speaker 6 (10:39):
You've got this massive hole now at first base and
a pretty thin market. I mean Murakami, he's a third baseman,
but there's talk that he might move to first base
pretty quickly. But you did avoid by making this and
getting this done right now. Man, if I'm Jerry, if
I'm just a and I'm looking at my off season checklist,

(11:02):
which I don't think is very deep, by the way,
just to warn people, if I'm looking at my off
season checklist, man, that first base, that nailer thing. I
felt so good going back to that piece of paper
and marking that check because I don't not only do
I get what I wanted, and I'm the first person
in the entire offseason, I'm the first franchise to get

(11:23):
what I wanted this offseason. I don't have to worry
about not having Josh Naylor. And I mean that's that's
killing two birds with one stone right there.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
Yeah, the market's then, and yet it's an important position.
One the position and how well he plays it defensively,
but that spot in the lineup too, just the middle
of the lineup guy. And then again the intangibles, the
things that you can't find on a spreadsheet or a
stat sheet of what he brings to the table is
something I don't know for sure if it's out there.

(11:54):
I mean, yeah, you got some higher priced guys, some
guys that maybe are have higher upside offensively, you know,
like the Polar Bear for example. I mean, I don't
see Josh Naylor hitting forty fifty home runs, and that's
fine because he also steals thirty bags. But I do
see him as bringing something to the table that I
don't know Pete Alonso, but I would be willing to

(12:16):
bet he doesn't have that same thing, that same grit,
that same thing that is it's hard to put. You know,
there's no number really that you can't put on it.
And yet they went out there and probably put a
number up there that maybe was a little bit more
made them a little bit more uncomfortable. I mean, it's
the most they've ever spent not a free agent since
you know, Jerry Depoto and Hollander have been in control

(12:38):
of those things. So I'm sure it made them a
little bit uncomfortable. At the same time, it's not like
you're going out there and spending you know, ninety two
million bucks on somebody you don't know for sure how
they're gonna meld with the rest of the team. You
just basically added a guy to the nucleus of this
team for the next five years, and I'm all for it.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
You know.

Speaker 6 (12:55):
I keep hearing that that that's the most they've ever spent,
didn't they sign Robbie Ray to a five year.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
One fifteen million dollar deal. Position players?

Speaker 6 (13:02):
Oh, position players? Okay, that's what they're saying. I mean
I kept hearing that. I'm well, it's not like they've
never done this before.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
And the Depoto era, now say position players, I mean
the Cano was before that, but that was before Depoto.

Speaker 5 (13:15):
Yeah, that was before Depoto.

Speaker 7 (13:16):
Yeah, as far as position players go, Mitch Garver was
the biggest one that worked out.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Well, it didn't work out at all, No, that didn't.

Speaker 7 (13:25):
I had that one walk, remember big walk.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
I do think that.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
I love that Bucky missed the big game that Garver had,
like the like the Cubs game. You didn't even see it.
It's the one game that he contributed mightily to. It's
almost like God willed that to happen. Yeah, now I'm.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Gonna save Bucky from seeing this guy have one good moment.
I tried.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
I stuck by that side guy's side as long.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
As I could.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
I do. Like though, like as far as the Nailor
signing goes it it helps the Mariners in the sense
that here's here's what we told you is how we
like to do things. We like to bring in people
at the trade deadline. We like to make sure that
they fall in love with the city. We like to
see how things go, and then you know, look, this
worked out just how we kind of talked about it
after the season when we were asked about trade deadline

(14:09):
and free agency and all of these things. And then
on top of it, now you've you've built all this
excitement and this goodwill going to the playoffs, and now
you're showing look, yeah we recognized it, we saw what
it did, and now we're going to do something about it,
and you're building continuing that goodwill with the fans, which
goodness knows is needed.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
Well, and that, like I said, this sort of felt
like an obvious, go go for it kind of situation.
And I don't know what they would have been left
with had they not worked this out with the Nailor.
It would have it might have been searching high and
low to try to come up with something that they
felt because they don't do anything that is not financially

(14:52):
that they're not financially okay with. They're not going to
just go, oh, we didn't couldn't get Nailer.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
We have no choice.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
We gotta spend whatever it takes to get Alonso. That's
not they operate. So I mean for this to get
done this quickly, man, let the good times roll. I
think this is yeah to your point. I think this
is some great momentum heading into the off season. I
think it's the biggest priority. I think that they will
make a priority out of Jorge Polanco next. I gotta

(15:19):
believe that it's Polonco or Sworez and not Polonco and
the Sworez that will be brought back or will be
made a priority here in the off season.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
I don't really know beyond that how aggressive that they'll be.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I don't I mean, they'll make some moves, but keep
in mind last offseason was about as dry an offseason
as you could spend, and it ended up with an
AL West title. I don't think beyond Naylor and Polanco
they are going to be all that aggressive this offseason.
And I frankly think that if they get Naylor and Polonko,

(15:57):
it's gonna be kind of a feed up on the desk.
All right, whatever happens from here, you know, we're good.
Those are the two things we wanted to get achieved
before the new year. Yeah, well, I mean those are
the two big ones, right, And I think that's probably
because of what you just said, where this isn't an organization,
and I don't think this is where. I don't think

(16:18):
Tiger will change its stripes drastically. They're not going to
go like, you know what that was, that playoff run
was really fun. Let's completely change our financial philosophy and
just spend bigger than everybody.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
They're not going to do it now, maybe go outside
their comfort zone. But this is one where all right,
we'll go ahead and do that because of how the
cross section of where what we need and what he
brings and how it fits and all that stuff goes
hand in hand. And yet they still have plenty of
moves to make, but I think that I'm with you
that it's probably just two, two guys that you had,

(16:50):
that you bring those guys back. Hopefully it's two. I
hope it's not just one. Hopefully we get Polonko as well.
And I would choose Polonco far before Gino Suarez, even
though I love Gino. I just I just think that
pol Uncle has a little bit more of that grit
as well, a little bit more gurr and.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
A little less good times. Yeah, and so well, look,
I think they'll kick the tires.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
I mean, that's just what they do. They kick the
tires on everything. They're gonna be thorough. But if they
get those two significant pieces done, I think that I
think they'll look at it as a successful offseason.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
No matter what happens from there.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
All right, So Josh Naylor press conference a little bit
later on today, Let's find out what is on tap
for the rest of our radio show.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
Chuck, what's on tip?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
What's on tap?

Speaker 3 (17:41):
All right?

Speaker 6 (17:41):
Naylor's deal five years, ninety two point five million dollars
with no deferrals, going to underline that we actually pay
our guys what we say. We're going to pay them.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Oh, so he's not getting paid in twenty forty.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah, it's weird.

Speaker 6 (17:56):
H wish everybody had to do that, but yes, Josh
Naylor press conference a little bit later on today. Also
coming up a little bit later on today, we will
do a Josh Naylor Sped Up Stove podcast. Anders Hearst
and I. We usually do it on Thursdays, but we're
gonna do it today. Also, I have written out my

(18:18):
Crystal Ball forecast for the off season twenty twenty five
slash twenty twenty six, and so that will be debuted
a little bit later on today as well. College football
playoff rankings. It's a Tuesday, so we'll get the brand
new list. We'll go over that a little bit later
on this hour at six forty five. The latest on
that front interesting surprise twist perhaps to tonight's reveal, So

(18:44):
we'll talk about that at six forty five. Ritt new
Iasa will join us today at nine o'clock as well.
Some other news from college football, as James Franklin already
has his brand new job. So the first you know,
Ball drops some MLB free agency here in Seattle. Well,
this coaching cycle that is happening right in the middle

(19:05):
of the season. Also at its first shoe drop as well.
James Franklin picked up by Virginia Tech, so he'll be
their next head coach there for the Hokies. Speaking of
newheisl the fighting Jerry Neuheisel's will be taken on the
Washington Huskies this week, and so we start the preview
of that matchup. Seahawks loss to LA We're still suffering

(19:27):
from that a little bit. Greg Bell will be with
us at seven five. We had a lot of the
ground to cover yesterday with Greg that we didn't get to,
so we'll try it today. He also has a Graysabel
update for USS hearing good news yesterday that they came
back with some positive results from the testing that was
done on Gray's abel. So we'll get the latest from

(19:47):
Greg coming up at seven five Monday Night football, Pete
Carroll and the Raiders lose to the Dallas Cowboys kind
of a blowout, thirty three to sixteen the final score.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
There.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
We'll play some Factor fiction at seven thirty five today,
cracking or in Detroit taking on the Red Wings, maybe
even sleeping all of them at Everett Fitzhu's mom's house.
I would imagine everybody just having a little sleep over.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
I bet that's delicious food.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
That's what I imagine.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
Anyway, Missus Fitzhugh taking care of all the cracking tonight
as they get ready for their game against the Red Wings.
And looks like Victor wembin Yama, who's off to an
MVP like start, is hurt again and may miss several
weeks for the San Antonio Spurs. All right, coming up next,
is there really some panic meters going off here regarding

(20:33):
our quarterback in Seattle? And how does that panic meter
compare to some other ones across the National Football League
at the coveted quarterback position. We sound the alarms next
on Chuck and Buck Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.
I don't understand why it's going on. I frankly think
it's more of the national people's stirring stuff up than

(20:53):
it is here locally. I certainly didn't hear anything like
that from Hugh millon yesterday our qbe. He gave a
fair assessment of Sam Donald's struggles on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
Sam Donald was the reason that we lost that game.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
He threw four interceptions and he missed a wide open
touchdown in the in the back of the end zone.
I think Sam Bey the first one to admit that.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
He said it was his fault.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
Yeah, but I don't quite understand why we're suddenly on
Sam Donald watch and whether or not we've got the
right guy at quarterback, which is a conversation I've heard
way too often here in the last even going into the.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Game, I was hearing it too much.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
So maybe I've already shown my cards, and so I'll
just go ahead and reveal it. If the panic meter
is on a scale from one to ten regarding whether
or not Sam Donald is the right fit for the Seahawks,
my meter is at zero. I mean, my meter is
not even moved based on Sunday. I have no concern

(21:55):
over it at all. He had a bad game against
a great defense, and I think think he will be
better the next time.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
He faces them. I don't.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
I don't think i'd go to zero, but it's not
very far above it. Maybe one, and then maybe it's
maybe it's individually against the Rams. Maybe I'd say it's
a two or three. Just when I think, okay, maybe
you do meet this team again in the playoffs, or
we know we're going to meet him one time later
on the season and then okay, that one is important.

(22:23):
Now it feels more important than had you you know,
that field goal went in, you know at the end
of this game on Sunday. I mean, I think that
it creates a little bit of like the hair on
the back of my neck would stand up when you're
getting ready for that game just now, because it's two
times in a row that that coach or that that
coaching staff has figured up a way to kind of

(22:46):
befuddle him and force him into making a few mistakes.
And you don't want that, obviously to happen in the
in the postseason because your season's over, and so to me,
it's leading into the next time that they play. And
I I still walked away from that game thinking, overarching
even better about the Seahawks. You lost a game, and
I felt better about the Seahawks than I did going

(23:08):
into it, and that's saying something because they were in
first place.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Truth be told, he made more good throws than Matt Stafford.
He just made a lot more bad throws. He just
made the more. He just made four crippling throws where
Stafford made zero of those. And we all know how
important the turnover battle is in the National Football League.
I mean, it's such a cliche. We can't even use
it as one of our keys.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
On Friday, some of us tried much take free.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
But look, I mean, I think personally and this did
not come up in our four hours yesterday. I mean,
I think there's something to I've not faced a great
defense this year until this week.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
I think there's something to you know. I mean, Bucky,
if you sat.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
There and you just faced a bunch of breaking ball
pitchers week after week after week, doesn't mean they're not
good pitchers, but you just faced breaking ball pitchers week
after week after week, and then all of a sudden,
you got to face Nolan Ryan on a Sunday.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
M hm.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
You know you might not be ready to face Nolan
Ryan on a sudden. Now, give you a couple games
to face Nolan Ryan. And I love fastball pitchers, man,
I've been missing guys like this. But that's going from
Jamie Moriers to Nolan Ryan overnight. And I'm not saying
we faced like Jamie Moyers. We faced good defenses this year,

(24:28):
but that's the first time we've faced a great defense
the entire season. I think it had more to do
with that than it did. Sam Darnold was overwhelmed by
the moment, by the moment, or the opponent or the moment.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yeah, the moment. And that's where I think.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
That's why I didn't a panic meter hadn't even registered
on my radar. Good And so I think, and especially
because of this coaching staff, I think it's more an
opportunity for what are they going to do to counteract
that next time? And now they've got a month, you know,
and they've got more games that they can try some
new things out. They've got a plan that when they

(25:06):
when they meet the Rams in December. I have all
the confidence in the world that they can figure it out.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Sam Darnold doesn't throw four touches and you only throws three,
we win, right, I mean, there are so many ways
do we win that game, And so I just I
have no belief at all that he's going to repeat
that performance of mistakes the next time.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
You take a holding penalty away and we would have
had another touchdown.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 6 (25:28):
If the ball doesn't go out of bounds of the
one on the crazy hop on a punt, we probably
win that game. All right, but there's quarterback panic going
all over. Believe me, I had to listen to it
all drive in the Atlanta Falcons may have lost Michael
Pennix Junior for the entire season. I don't know if
they're so worried about Michael Pennix being gone. It looks

(25:51):
like they're seasons lost anyway with Pennix at quarterback. But
I think the bigger concern is that Michael Pennix junior
has had this history, you have knee problems, and now
he's going to be out for the season again. And
maybe the Falcon fans are panicked that Michael Penick's junior.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
You know how many how many more.

Speaker 6 (26:12):
Injuries can he suffer to those knees that cursed him
throughout his time in college, certainly while at Indiana. So
where do you think the panic meter should be revving
in Atlanta.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
Georgia today? I would imagine it's not too terribly high.
I mean, I think if they if you're prone to panic,
if you're one that was going to panic quickly, you
will probably panic. In a couple of weeks ago, when
they when their season was starting to kind of fade away,
they'd lost five in a row with him at the Helm.
He wasn't playing the way that he had played here, obviously,

(26:44):
and yet, okay, that's kind of understandable. He's not like,
I mean, this is his first year being the starter
from the jump, and there was an inconsistencies there.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
I don't think it would be panic.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
I mean I think that, you know, for them to
some degree because of the fact that nobody's kind of
taken that division and ran away with it, if you
were still really holding that hope there, now you're like, Okay, well,
I guess it's good. We have Kirk Cousins. It's your
backup is not like your typical backup. It's not somebody
that doesn't have any experience, and so if you're wanting

(27:15):
to hold on to hope, there still is something there,
I don't I wouldn't panic a ton, But then again,
that's just how I am.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
I don't panic on injuries.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
Injuries are inevitable, especially in the NFL, and and so
I wouldn't panic a whole heck of a lot.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
And yet I'm sure that he.

Speaker 7 (27:31):
Probably has these come on knees hold up, you know,
in order to in order to have an NFL career
the way that he wants.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
He needs to be healthy.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yeah, I'd definitely be more panicked there because of the
knee history like that. The second he went down and
that they said it was a knee problem, I thought, oh,
oh he I mean that's not good for somebody who
said two was acls.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, so that makes me nervous.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
I put it about a five because I think they
got a lot invested in this. I mean they jumped
up to get him. Remember, they weren't supposed to take
a quarterback Dad Kirk Cousins, remember, And so they invested
a lot in this sort of this player and in
a future built around this player. And so I'd be
I'd be a little worried. I'd also be worried that

(28:14):
they don't have the right head coach for him, which
is something that we can talk about a little bit
later on in the show. If you're the Raiders, where
is your panic meter one to ten on your quarterback situation?

Speaker 5 (28:26):
Geno Smith?

Speaker 7 (28:27):
Oh well, I mean I don't even know if I'd panic,
But then again, I wasn't super high on it going
into it. If I mean it's he's he does Geno things,
He'll throw and make some great passes and then he
has maybe not four interception games. I think that the
most he ever had as a Seahawk was three, And
so maybe it's not as bad as what we just watched.

(28:47):
When you know sam Donold's was ripping it, as coach
McDonald called it, and he wants to keep him to
keep ripping it. He just kind of dinks and dunks
and then sometimes makes a bad play or a bad decision.
But I mean that whole team is not very good.
I'm if I'm a Raider fan or if I'm Raiders
front office, I'm probably not thinking that's my biggest issue

(29:08):
is my quarterback, even though it's to some degree you
decided to go out and pay him some really good
money like a franchise quarterback gets paid nowadays, and I
don't know for sure if he is more than just
a really good backup.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
I'd panic a little bit because I think you just
lost a year. I think Geno Smith and Pete Carroll
are neither one of them going to make it through
this offseason. And so what did you gain out of year?
Did you just lose a year by going in this
direction because you didn't rebuild it wasn't a rebuilding year
where you might learn something about the organization. You went

(29:43):
with two old people at their jobs and you got
worse somehow when you were supposed to be better. So
I'd panic a little bit if I were the Raiders,
But then again, I didn't have that high expectations.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
For them to be Hoy, I wouldn't panic. I would
have already given up.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
All right, Coming up next tonight, it's a two Tuesday
night college football playoff rankings come out and apparently there
might be an interesting twist to tonight's reveal. We'll talk
about a next Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM

(30:29):
All right, Top of the hour headlines, plus Greg Bell
will join us our Seahawks insider. A lot more to
cover from the Seahawks loss of the Rams on Sunday.
Plus we'll get a Gray disable injury update. Also, Everett
Fits He will be with us today at eight thirty.
It is a cracking ticket Tuesday. They're in action against
the Detroit Red Wings tonight.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
That game is.

Speaker 6 (30:48):
In Detroit, Ah Detroit, lovable Detroit. But we're going to
send you to a game against Detroit here at Climate
Pledge Arenas you don't get to go to Tommy's Bar.
We're not going to send you to Detroit for it,
but you will get to see the Red Wings December sixth.
So be listening for that sounder deploy. It's a piece

(31:08):
of audio. When you hear it, it will prompt you
to call us at two O six two eight six
ninety five ninety five. Be the tenth caller, and you
will win a pair of tickets to see the Cracking
versus the Red Wings on December sixth. Again, Cracking Ticket
Tuesday will do that every single hour, so be listening.
College football playoff rankings come out tonight, the latest, of course,

(31:32):
not the final, and this is really a study in
you do have to truly wait until all the resumes
are done, because just because one team is ahead of
another team the previous week, then you see an Oklahoma
beat in Alabama, and that could really shake things up
here in the order. Alabama obviously has to come down,

(31:52):
Oklahoma obviously has to come up. And so how is
that going to reflect itself tonight in the college football
playoff rankings. Well, Heather Dinich was on this morning and
she's great, and she said that she thinks that Oklahoma
not only jumps ahead of Alabama, that they both have
to be ahead of Notre Dame. So that's an interesting

(32:14):
twist because Notre Dame just kept on climbing, and yet
people who are looking at the entirety of the resume
are noting that, man, they really don't have that many
impressive wins this year because of their independent status. They
do have a couple, so they're going to make the
tournament as long as they went out, but win in
Oklahoma and is sitting there with the same amount of

(32:38):
losses and now has wins over Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina,
and Michigan for goodness sake, and in Alabama, who loses
and falls off their perch at number four, but still
has wins over LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Georgia.
Those resumes are just more impressive overall the Notre Dame.

(33:00):
So if Notre Dame has to drop a spot just
to make room for Alabama and Oklahoma, who collided at
this moment in time with better resumes than Notre Dame,
then that's what she thinks is going to be revealed tonight.

Speaker 7 (33:15):
It'll be I mean, I think it'd be wrong if
Notre Dame is ahead of Alabama even though Alabama just dropped.
I mean, I think that would be wrong. I mean,
I think Oklahoma does jump ahead, should jump ahead of them.
It's not going to be by a bunch, maybe a
spot or two, probably right behind them, and then Notre
Dame right behind them, because Notre Dame really, I mean,

(33:37):
who have they beat?

Speaker 5 (33:38):
USC?

Speaker 7 (33:38):
Is that the best win that they have on their schedule?

Speaker 5 (33:41):
USC? And now Pitt and yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:44):
Yeah, and I guess yeah, And so I mean to me,
Notre Dame is playing with fire when it comes to
sitting with two losses because they are kind of at
the mercy of they're not going to have any games
that are going to catapult them up and was minds.
And yet if people above them fall like Alabama, but

(34:04):
because of Alabama beating Georgia and all the other teams
you just mentioned, they shouldn't fall below a team that
hasn't played even close to the same schedule.

Speaker 6 (34:12):
Yeah, so it's probably gonna shift Notre Dame down a notch.
So I would expect Ohio stay one, Indiana two, Texas
A and M three Georgia four. That's practically a given
for tonight's College Football Playoff rankings. The eight people as
the next spot going to ole Miss, but it's going
to be Texas Tech because that's where the College Football

(34:33):
Playoff Rankings had them last week. I would imagine Texas
Tech stays five, Ole Miss six, Oregon seven, Oklahoma eight,
Alabama nine, Notre Dame falls.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
From nine to ten.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Just knock them off the whole thing.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Yeah, sure, let's just kop them out of the top.
That happened. I wish it would number eleven then would
be your ACC.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Right now, they're giving that to Miami even though they're
not atop the ACC standings.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
And then we're gonna need a.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
New number twelve because we had FCS upheaval last week
with South Florida losing the Navy. So there'll be a
new team in that spot. Maybe it's finally James Madison.
So that's what you can expect tonight. We'll talk to
Rick new Isiel certainly about it today at nine o'clock
and we will recap our findings tomorrow morning on the

(35:19):
radio program. But it is a college Football Playoff ranking Tuesday,
so that will be this evening. I think four thirty
is when they are doing it headlines next, plus Greg
Bell will join us. The latest on Gray's Able and more.

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
