Speaker 1 (00:02):
One twenty to go in the second quarter. Cowboys now
with the thirty seven yard line of the Raiders. The
quarterback Dan Prescott in the gun. There's the snap, Bakes,
the handoff four man five man rush, throws across the middle,
touching catch at the fifteen out of the twenty and
going on the far Sikes fourting in.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
That is a touchdown. And that was George Pickens who.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Got it and ran backwards and went on that far
sideline to curl around defenders and takes it in and
Pickens a thirty seven yard touchdown reception. Prescott has thrown
his third touchdown tonight, one to each of his top targets,
lamb Ferguson and Pickens.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Kevin Harland.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Westwood won on the call last night Monday Night Football
as the Dallas Cowboys do win over the Las Vegas
Raiders by a final score of thirty three to sixteen.
That concludes this week in the National Football League and
will slowly start revving up to next week for the
Seahawks coming off the loss that will be against the
(01:01):
Tennessee Titans this week. Also, we got a pretty positive
update on Gray's Zabel. We'll get more information coming up
with Greg Bell here in a matter of moments. Good
morning to you seven o'clock hour here on this Tuesday,
Ashley Ryan is here, former Mariner Bucky Jacobson. My name
is Chuck Powell. Let's check your Frost Brood. Choose Chill
(01:21):
Corp's light headlines, and we will go to college football,
where the college football playoff rankings, the latest are out
tonight this evening. I believe they go down at four thirty.
There should be a little bit of a shakeup. We
should have a new number twelve, certainly, and Oklahoma should
jump into the rankings this week after their win over Alabama.
(01:43):
But how far will Kaylen de Boor and the tide fall?
We'll find out later on today. Also from college football,
James Franklin has a new home, greed to a deal
with the Virginia Tech Hokies yesterday. Husky's getting ready for
their matchup with UCLA on Saturday. Elsewhere, you've got the
Kraken in Detroit tonight to take on the Red Wings.
(02:04):
You can hear that action right here at Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJRFM. From the NBA, Wimby's gonna
miss a few weeks he's injured again. You Dubs in
action and hoops tonight against Southern Yet Mighty Southern and
Josh Naylor later today will meet with the press. He
made his new deal official yesterday. He signed the papers
(02:27):
on a brand new five year deal for ninety two
point five million dollars per season. Today he'll be introduced
at a press conference along with all of the powers
that be with the Seattle Mariners. So Josh Naylor will
be back and for years to come as the first
basement of DMS. I think most people are excited about that. Also,
(02:50):
they are just as excited about hearing from Greg Bell
this morning.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
With the bell tolls, it must be seven o'clock and
time for twelve Man News with Greg Bell. Brought to
you by Copla Diamond Collection Prosecco Chris Sparkling with bright
Fruit flavors to make every toast shine Game Day Bubbles
only with Coppola Diamond Prosecco. Now with twunk Man News,
here's Greg Bell with Chuck and.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
But fancy new sponsor, fancy new open for Greg Bell.
He's just living a fancy life right now.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
He's very fancy. He is very very fancy. He's drinking
some coffee with pinky up right now?
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Oh do you think? Huh, well, we got Greg give
us a play by play of your coffee.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Drinking not existing. My wife drinks more coffee than probably
all four of us put together. But yeah, no fancy.
No one's ever accused me of fancy. All right, not quite.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I was wrong.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I think you know me better than that.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
All right, Well, let's dive into this. Uh, Gray's able.
That's what's first and foremost on my mind. I guess
they got some good news yesterday.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
He did really positive according to Mike mc donald, no
structural damage MRIs, showing that he doesn't have a major
knee injury. It's not season ending. The words that McDonald
used that he was told was day to day, and
of course he said, you know what that means. That
could be truly day to day, It could be week
to week, could be a couple of weeks. But the
(04:18):
status for Tennessee for him will determine probably the end
of the week. Wouldn't expect him to practice yesterday, but
when he was on both knees and down face mask
into the turf for a multiple man two or three
minutes right below me in the press box Sunday in Englewood.
It looked worse than what we got the news of yesterday.
I said's positive sea Oark news for sure. I wrote
(04:41):
the news tribute that's probably worthy of a parade for
how good Gray's Abel has been. Because Christian Haynes coming
in is a big, big, big drop off. And if
he doesn't, if Gretable can't play on Sunday in Nashville,
it would be Christian Haynes, who just came up off
injured reserve. But it's Naze. They will have grays Abel back,
(05:01):
and that's a big deal.
Speaker 6 (05:03):
Obviously, you don't want to overlook anybody. And yet if
there is a team that you might be able to
get away with not rushing him back, it would be
the Titans. I mean, is this a situation where thinking
about the long term, not just the rest of this season?
Obviously you don't look too terribly far past that, but
you do. This guy's young and whatnot? I mean, is
(05:24):
this one where if he's good to go, they're gonna
put him out there no matter what, or is there
any chance they'll just be a little bit more cautious
considering the opponent.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Well, if he is good to go, he'll play. And
the Seahawks historic or their medical staff has been somewhat conservative,
where if a guy has any chance of making it
worse and injuring himself worth, he doesn't play. So for insance,
he doesn't practice all week, he probably wouldn't play. And
you're right, they never admit it. But I thought Ernest
(05:53):
Jones didn't play against Arizona so he could play against
the Rams, and they boat rased Arizona so they could
play the Rams, and Jones was fine to do that,
although he hit up a big pulky brace as you
probably saw outside of his uniform. To answer your question, yeah,
there was ever a game you'd rest the guy to
happy for the rest of the season, be this.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
One still classic trap game? Classic trap game. I know
Tennessee's terrible, but I mean, you can't sleep on anybody
in the NFL. Greg bellis well, our Seahawks insider, joins
us nearly every day at this time to talk to
some Seahawks football. Sam Donald was obviously the big topic
of conversation on yesterday's radio program. Is there a chance here, Greg,
(06:33):
that maybe he just faced a really good defense, like
a better defense than he's faced all season long, and
that maybe they did some good things that confused him
versus Sam Donald. Just doesn't show up against the Rams
or any big game.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Yeah, and that's what happened. And I wrote that yesterday
for the News Tribune that Cooper Cup talked about the
Rams changing safeties and their saveet these Kitchens in particular,
Kitchens is killing him. He's got three interceptions in two games,
not counting the JV game at the end of last
season against them. Kitchens is the guy who had one
hundred and three yard interception returned from Geno Smith in
(07:10):
the home game Seattle had lost overtime last season. Kitchens
has two interceptions on Sunday, standing in the middle of
fields with safety. The second one is the second of
Kitchens's interceptions, the third of Darnald's fourth is the one
that told me that they were tricking him because Kitchens
was standing in the middle of the field and Arroyo
(07:31):
ran a seam route with a cover man underneath them,
and Darnald threw it as if he never knew Kitchens
was on the field. Just Kitchens was like a center
fielder who just caught a line drive that was hit
to him. It was as simple as that took one
step up interception, and Cooper Cup after the game said
that the Rams showed heavy box at the snap and
(07:53):
ran out. He didn't say Kitchens by name, but it
was often Kitchens who ran out to essentially have two
D coverage shell coverage after it looked like it was
single high at the snap, and so yeah, when I
asked Donald about that, he said, yeah, they did that,
and they were good at moving their personnel and they
got really good players. But a lot of teams, he said,
do that. But suffice to say that it wasn't just
(08:17):
Donald forcing it in which he did do on the
sideline on a late outrut as he was getting hit
trying to hit Smith and Jigba for his second interception,
but the first and the third the Kitchens in particular
told me that he was tricked and fooled by their
scheming safeties. I'm not. It's not like he walked into
that stadium and said, oh, here we go again. I
(08:38):
don't think that. But the bigger question is the Seahawks
and Donald have not beaten the top team. We mentioned
the combined records coming into the game of the team
the seven wins. The Seahawks had twenty two and thirty
four with the combined records of the teams they'd beaten
the Steelers, the saying, so, the Cardinals twice, Texans, the Jaguars.
(09:02):
So that's a problem that they haven't been any of
the top seven teams, the playoff contenders, including the forty
nine Ers and the Rams in their own division. That's
a bigger deal than the Ghosts. And it's the Rams.
It's the Seahawks. Who are they? They are seven to
three and they've only beaten middling and losing teams, and
the teams they have to beat to win the division
they still haven't beat.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Yeah, the well, I mean, they got what seven games left,
and so I'm interested. To me, this was a measuring stick,
measuring stick game right where it was. It was definitely
the toughest opponent you'd faced, and it was for you know,
the division lead at this point in time. And so
is there a part of you that came out of
a loss feeling even better than how you were feeling
(09:47):
about them or No.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
No, I have more doubts about them. They this isn't
a moral victory league. Everyone's paid to win the games.
To especially the division games. And I have more doubts
about the Seahawks than they did going into it. And
you're right, it wasn't measuring stick and they failed to
measure up. That's twice now, the forty nine ers at
home and the Rams on the road that they lost.
(10:10):
And that is a concern that you can't win in
your own division because here we go wild card first
round at Philadelphia or Detroit and they're done. It's the
same thing they've done for most of the last decades,
since the last NFC Championship game they were in, and
that was in twenty fifteen. So where are they for
all they've done, changing offensive staff, Mike McDonald, new quarterback,
(10:35):
trading Geno Smith, trading Russell Wilson four or three years ago,
where are they if they can't beat the Rams and
it's forty nine ers, they're at the same place they
were before they did all those things right, and the
aggregate A bunch of things have changed. The furniture has moved,
but the dining room is still the same. That that's
the bigger problem they have. Yes, McDonald has been big
(10:58):
and the big strides and the culture has changed and
there's a brotherhood there and they really especially when they
rallied Sam Darnold's defense in Inglewood, you could see that.
But the bottom line is they're third right now in
a division they're trying to win. That's the whole goal.
That's the number one goal before they do anything else,
that to win a division. And the Rams game, to me,
(11:19):
was a very alarming litmus test to where they are.
And now that's not to say they get the Rams
here next month. They get the forty nine ers again
in the season eight. They should be eight and three
after Nashville on Sunday. They're not in an awful place,
but the bigger picture is a concern.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, Seahawks inside of Greg Bell with us from Thenewstribune
dot com. Also you can follow them at g Bell Seattle.
As we talked from Seahawks Football here thanks to Fancy
Sparklee Wine. And let's talk about the running back situation.
Another big topic on yesterday's program was maybe questioning that
you didn't commit to Ken Walker soon in that game,
(12:01):
and both coach and Hugh concluded that he needs more carries,
he needs to go back to being the number one.
Do you think that will happen?
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I do. I asked McDonald that yesterday because I had
the same feeling coming out of LA when I saw
him get to the red zone. I saw him bring
George Hallani in on first down twice for two red
zone runs for six yards. When I saw charbon A
in on the goal line running straight into Rams who
were in the backfield for no gain, I said, why
isn't Walker in there? And then I'm third and one
(12:30):
in the third quarter. Ninety one had just beaten on
a swim move Anthony Bradford and he was standing in
the backfield. I'm third and one, two yards behind the
line of screaming. He was right in front of Kenneth Walker.
Zach Sharbney would have run right into him for a
loss of two. Kenneth Walker joked him. He faked head
(12:51):
fake to the left, cut hard to the right, went
right by ninety one, who swung it air and a
five yard game. That would have been a touchdown if
the safety didn't come down to tripping with a shoestring tackle.
That's the difference between Kenneth Walker and Jack Searbernay. When
I saw that, I thought to myself, that's why you
put him in In short yardage and goal line in
red zone. So I asked, I specifically said to McDonald,
(13:14):
is is Walker's elusiveness giving you second thought on this
job share and maybe short yardy's goal on going more
to Walker? And his answer was, I think Ken's showing that,
you know, he's earning more opportunities to get the ball.
So then I asked him, what about this foot thing
that you've been managing since August. We've talked about this
and it hasn't been well publicized, but part of the
(13:35):
reason they're pacing him is they try to get him
through all seventeen games, they'll getting hurt again. And he said,
as far as I know, He said, well, first of all,
nobody's one hundred percent at this point, and we are
never going to go one hundred percent with one running back.
He said, that would be fool hardy because you're going
to get him hurt. But yeah, as far as he knows,
he's through all of that. So those two comments tell
me it's going to be Kenneth Walker more than it's
(13:57):
been forty five percent of the time. As far the
snap counts have been forty nine percent for Sharbon a
forty five for Walker. Now Walker has more as total
snaps because he's played one more game. Sharbony missed the game,
but sharbon is still playing more. That seems like it's
about to change, and it should. So. It seems like
now at this point in the season was seven games less,
(14:18):
that they're going to not pace Marker as much and
perhaps give him more of the short yard he's red
zone and even two minute drills. I mean, he had
a catch for twenty three yards down the sidelines where
he just outran the middle linebacker in the fourth quarter
after a two yard checkdown pass. It turned into a
twenty three yard game. That's what Walker gives you. Well,
McDonald's make it sound like he hears you and that
(14:38):
he's going to play more.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
Gee, I'm on the same page with the You know,
it's not a feel good lead or whatever. It comes
down to wins, and yet there is times where you
can feel worse after a lost or better. You can
take some positives from a bad situation. I think one
positive is Jackson Smith and Jig but even though they lost,
still was somewhat unstoppable. I mean, when they threw him
the ball, it usually turned into a catch and first down.
(15:01):
I'm wondering, is aj Barner is he starting to turn
into something that you could just add to the rest
of those complimentary pieces that a Cooper Cup and possibly
a Rashid Shaheed are trying to be, Which is something
else other than Jackson, Smith and Jigba. If somebody does
try to take him away.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Yeah, he's gaining trust for sure with Donald and a
lot of those catches against the Rams, the Barner end
up going with He catches for about one hundred yards.
It wasn't he wasn't the primary target. Smith and Jigba
often was, and the Rams often bracketed and shadowed and
voted extra attention to Smith and Jigba. One time he
caught that one handed catch and still putting his toes
(15:39):
down the left side of an amazing catch, the Rams
has rolled rotated to safety over to his side with
the corner. On that play too, Barnard was getting catches
as a second and third read and that shows that
Donald is trusting him more as well. On the trust meter,
it looks to me like number one is one, two
and three Smith and Jigba, but then right below him
(16:00):
as Barner to get those secondary looks and targets. So
he has gone up in the trust stature of for
sure of Darnold, and the results have showed it the good.
The best thing for the Seahawks about Barner is they
don't have to take him off the field because it's
a great balker too, excuse me, and that that is
as important as anything. They can go multiple tight ends
(16:22):
and throw it as much as they do into tight
end offense because of how Barner is so good at
balking and at receiving.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Another thing I think got under reported just quickly is
how good the secondary was. I thought in the game
on Sunday for the Seahawks, now Kobe Bryant stellar, I
mean that was just Reek Woolan was really good in
my estimations, the nice job by the secondary on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
Well he did it was different. They rotated Job and
Witherspoon and Woolan. Wolan started as the extra nickel defensive
back on the first drive and by the second drive
Woolman was the starter with Witherspoon and then at times
it was Job and Wolan. And I asked after the
game McDonald, what about this rotation. He goes, yeah, it's
(17:06):
kind of a good, bad problem to have because there's
a starting corner that's not going to play every down
because I'm going to keep doing this, he said, I
can't give you a definite, but it looks like we're
going to continue this rotation to him. Wolan has played
really well since coming back from the concussion, and he
doesn't want to bench him either, and so Job was
sort of the odd man out for a large part
(17:26):
of that game. You're right, Wolan had another standout game
with the ball in the air, a couple pass breaks,
breakups in the end zone. The things that he was
not doing earlier in the season with teams targeting him
for touchdowns, he's now doing. He's had a resurgence in
the middle of this season, right in time too, because
his contract's up. But now Josh Job is perhaps the
odd man out right now. The two best corners playing
(17:50):
for them is Witherspoon are Witherspoon and Wolan. But he
loved Job and we've talked about that, and Job had
a couple of the standout plays and special tackling in
the open field of neither after catches past breakup, McDonald says,
we're going to see the same thing in Tennessee. We're
going to see three guys playing two positions, so the
reps are going to get split accordingly.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
All right, Greg, thank you very much, appreciate. Go off
and have a fancy brunch or something and we'll wash
it down with some prosecco and we'll talk to you tomorrow.
How's that sound?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
And then prosecco in the morning. I'm gonna have oatmeal
and go to the dentist.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Not very glamorous at all.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
No, that's that's my day. I just will let you know,
not exactly prosecco on tuesdays.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
All right, Well, hope you get good results. All right,
Thank you, Greg, Greg Bell our Shawks insider, and yes
his his fancy segment is brought to you by our
brand new sponsor, the MVP of the party. Every game
needs an MVP. In this one, well it sparkles. Coppola
Diamond Collection Prosecco is light, crisp and always a win.
(18:57):
Grab your bubbles and toast to every touchdown like the
Bells do. Game Day Bubbles only with Coppola Diamond Prosecco.
Coming up next on our radio program, we are going
to play some fact or fiction. It is my pick
today and I know we touched upon this a little
bit earlier with Michael Pennix Junior suffering the injury, but
(19:18):
maybe it's time to evaluate the entire situation Pennix has
been thrust it into, because I'm not sure he ever
stood a chance there with Raheem Morris and the Atlanta Falcons.
We'll get into that. On the other side, it's Chuck Buck.
It is Ashley right here on Sports Radio ninety three
point three kJ R FM.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Because we can't even respond to anyone who texts in
to us.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Yeah, in general, so there's something there's there's a mouse
in the computer, chewing on the wires and the whatnot.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Yeah, that's what.
Speaker 6 (19:50):
Happens when you put them in dip them a peanut sauce.
Then they like that.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah, no kidding, iHeart, don't be so stupid. I know
mouse prevention.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
I know it's peanut sauce is delivered. Yeah, we gotta
I chew those wires too.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
We had a varmint issue around here apparently. But anyway,
so we're gonna play factor fiction. This will save you
a lot of grief that you're not going to expect
to get a bounce back. Then if you do, hey,
Merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (20:15):
And then you just make your picks without listening to us.
Then you're not hearing this, and then don't write back
that you didn't get a bounce back because we don't care.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
So we'll play some factor fiction. It is my pick
coming up at seven thirty five this morning. Ashley, speak
for yourself, Bucket and I care a lot. I don't know.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Well, you just decide to text in factor fiction you
don't listen.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
You know.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
I love the sixty seven thousand texts of I'm not
getting a bounce back.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
That's the best.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
I love those people, like, Hey, do you guys not
know that you're we're not getting bounced backs? Did you
guys know that?
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yep, Carl. I'm not gonna speak for Ashley or Bucky,
but I love all of our listeners.
Speaker 6 (20:52):
Yeah, yeah, you do. They're the ones that don't listen. Son,
That is sarcasm.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Sorry. I love them all as well.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
All.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
From them all. I love them all despite all of
your flaws.
Speaker 9 (21:07):
I do as well. None of us are perfect. All right,
we'll play at seven thirty five. Let's talk some Falcons
football here because Michael Pennick Junior kind of you know,
I mean what a story it's been since he came
into the National Football League. Falcons already had a quarterback,
they draft him anyway, everybody in Atlanta sees Kirk Cousins
(21:29):
looking rickety and old man.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
We've got this new weapon. We got this new ferrari
in the garage. Why aren't we playing him? Finally did
play him late in the season, provided this incredible spark,
it seemed, and people were over the moon over the
off season about what Michael Pennick Junior could do in
a full season with all of these weapons. Right, that's
what you talk about with the Atlanta Falcons. How much
(21:51):
draft capital they have spent on offensive weapons, A wide
receiver in Drake London in the top ten, John Robinson
in the top ten as a running back, offensive line,
draft capital that has been invested in this team, and
now a top ten quarterback taken as well, who's just brilliant.
(22:12):
I mean, he's just so much fun to watch. I mean,
I think he's one of those quarterbacks that even looks
better playing than he actually is. And he's very good
to begin with. And so here they go now facing
maybe the immediate future without Michael Penix Junior at quarterback
because he has a knee injury. Another knee injury. I
(22:33):
think that I don't think it's the solution Bucky to
just that's it. He's not playing again this year. I
don't think that's the answer with Joe Burrow, for example,
in Cincinnati. But I do believe with a couple of
teams out there like that's it, right Michael Penick, junior,
Jadeen Daniels, A couple of the organization seems to be
(22:54):
in this transition mode anyway. It probably behooves them to
at this stage in a failed season to have the
better draft pick and to make sure that that young
investment is as healthy and as possible by next year.
And I think by next year the Atlanta Falcons will
(23:15):
finally do the right thing and get all of those
offensive weapons they drafted an offensive minded head coach. Why
on earth is Raheem Morris the head coach of the
Atlanta Falcons When you've invested so much in the offense
and you don't even have an offensive minded head coach
to direct it now, obviously here in Seattle, I'm glad
(23:35):
we got a defensive minded head coach. I think they're
I think it's fine to hire a defensive minded head coach,
but you invested so much in your offensive weapons and
we are now on what three four years, wondering why
the Falcons offense is only average. You need somebody to
direct it better. And Raheem Morris is not the guy,
and whoever he hired to be as OC is not
(23:56):
the guy.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Yeah, it doesn't look like it. Most certainly him that
they do have a lot of weapons, and everybody around
here that got to watch Michael Penix at the collegiate
level was just like, Wow, this is going to be
something special. And then you thought about the tight end
and just the weapons that they have, and yet they
don't seem they seem to be rudderless at times. There's
been a couple of games here and there that it
(24:18):
looks it looks really good. Maybe not. I mean, I'd
say it's short of great, but it looks good. And
then they're just very inconsistent, and I think that that
is something. And we heard Michael Pennick say something to
the effect of I think the question was, you know,
who do you learn from? And I don't know if
they were asking this Kirk Cousins, help and you or
what And He basically said, I got a couple coaches
(24:39):
back home that will call me and say, hey, clean
this up. He basically didn't. He said there was no
one there on the sideline, no coaches that he's getting
information from. And I don't think he's meaning to throw
somebody under the bus. He just basically threw the entire
coaching staff help.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
It's I need some help. I don't know that I
don't have the NFL mastered. I need some help. Just
because I was a great college quarterback doesn't mean that
I've got the NFL solid. Where's my guy to lean
on when I come off the field. That's a great
point that happened the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
Well, another bad tear up top of it is the
Rams have the Falcons top pick this next year coming up.
So that's good.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Yeah yeah, I mean it's just not been good and
it's time to create a new direction there in Atlanta.
I would use this time while Michael Penix is out
to do that. I think Raheem Morris will be the
next head coach in the NFL that is fired. Let's
play some factor fiction. We're set to go. Glad you're

Speaker 5 (25:34):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Ego Casino and hotel where every Day Feels Lucky.
Fact Door fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJR FM.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
How about it. I do want to clear up that
was not sarcasm. I love all of our I was
just that was me comedically separating myself from your two comments.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
Right, yeah, right, I would say, I mean, I love
our listeners.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I know you do. I know I don't love all
of you. Are just in an angry moment about the
bounce backs, and so I was comedically separating my cult
from the two of you, so that I would highlight
how much that at least one of us loves.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
All Well, I would say, though, is it a coincidence
that the one who loves all of our listeners doesn't
look at the text line never?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Yeah? Yeah, might be that. Yeah, probably saves me some
money on counseling. Yeah, all right, let's make a pick
here on fact or fiction. I am going to go
with the Minnesota Vikings to cover six points on the
road against the Green Bay Packers. I don't even really
particularly think the Minnesota Vikings are all that good. But
(26:53):
this is an NFC North Division matchup. Most of those
games the last four that have been played in that
division divisional games have been within three points. The Green
Bay Packers haven't covered the spread in seven of their
last eight games.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
They're a very talented team that's just not playing good
football right now, and the Minnesota Vikings are at least
keeping it close. With JJ McCarthy at the helm, I
think giving the Vikings six points is way too much
if you are gambling man. So I am going to
(27:28):
go ahead and take the Vikings plus six on the
road at Green Bay against the Packers, who, keep in mind,
we're trailing the Jamis Winston led New York Giants in
the fourth quarter on Sunday when they picked up their
first win in a while. So I just don't think
it's a team going that well, not that Minnesota is.
I'm at least expecting this to be close with the
(27:50):
chance that Minnesota pulls the upset against a division rival.
So plus six Minnesota at Green Bay. That means the Vikings,
as long as they keep it within five, I win
the bet. If you agree with me. Text fact to
four nine four to five one. If you disagree with me,
text fiction to four nine four five one. If you're right,
we enter your name into a drawing for one thousand
(28:11):
dollars in cash at the end of the week, and
of course, ten thousand dollars is the jackpot that goes
to the winner of Fact or Fiction. This year, it's
all brought to you by Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel.

you agree, text fact to four nine four or five

Speaker 8 (29:03):
M Me and Jeane Sterrator.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
It's gonna join us at eight o'clock today. He probably
got called that a lot, and he's like the nicest
person there is.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
I think there's a mean spot in there.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
I think he probably remember its main Gene the dancing machine.
You remember mean Jene the dancing machine?
Speaker 6 (29:30):
No, I do remember mean Gene Okerland from wrestling.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Oh wow, Yeah, a lot of mean genes. I guess
if your name's Gene, you just get mean put next
to it. Fair, that's unfair.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
Maybe he would maybe got like Keen Hey Keen, Jean.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Clean, Jean Hey clean, gane Clean, Jean the King of hygiene.
Speaker 7 (29:48):
Right after he showered, that's what everyone called him.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Great, we'll find out. We'll ask Jean stair Door today
if he had any nicknames as a kid, and if
any of them stuck, and.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
If he is if he does have a mean streak.
I bet if you mess with his family, he's real mean.
Oh yeah, is that Italian in him?
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (30:05):
You come from my family.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
He's always threatening me with stuff like oh yeah, I know,
it's fun. Yeah. So we'll also talk to him about
officiating and stuff at eight o'clock here today. Josh Naylor
later today is going to be talking to the media.
He has officially signed his deal. So it's done. Five years,
ninety two point five million dollars. The first baseman that
(30:27):
stole our hearts in no time flat has been retained
by the Mariners and he's going to be playing over
their first base for the better part of the next
st five years. And it seems like everybody is on
board with this in town.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Yeah, I don't know how you couldn't be. I mean
it's not like he came over, and I mean the
idea of Polonnco coming back is quite the reversal considering
the year before, and then they brought him back and
he has a spectacular year last year for us. That
wasn't the case with Josh Nato. He basically hit the
grit and ran literally stole basis right off the bat.
(31:04):
I mean it was I wanted this dude a couple
of years ago. I just like the way that he
plays the game. And then they got him, and there
was part of me not wanting that to go away,
and so I'm glad that they doubled down on it.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I think he wanted to sign sign him the day
after he debuted.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
I did, yeah, just get it done.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
I yeah, that was there was a lot of conversations
about that over the last few months and season, like oh,
we could just do it now, get it over with.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
We saw that picture of him and Stanton. I think
it was after they had clinched one of those things
they clinched and back to back to back days and
they were smiling and talking to each other, and I
guarantee they were like, hey, man, you like it here right,
It's really nice, isn't it. And he must have said, yes,
I do, I really do like it.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I think it took Softy eight days. I think it
took Ashley three and a half. I think it took
you won it back. I was gonna say, yeah, not
even a day.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
I don't even think it was a bad I think
it was just like, yeah, what traded for him? Sign
him up long term.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Probably liked him some Josh Naylor for quite some time,
and that's before he became Thicky Henderson. But now I
got a new nickname for him, the round mound of
Puget Sound. I love it well.
Speaker 7 (32:14):
Charles Barkley.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Not quite the same. Everybody, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
I can't wait to meet him. Not everybody is okay
with the self deprecating, you know, like the you know,
like I bet Spoge wasn't a big fan of spudge.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
You know, the nicknames, the greatest name ever for a
fat guy.
Speaker 6 (32:35):
It's it's funny, it's funny. I bet he didn't like it.
The round mound of Puget sound. I like Thicky Henderson
Anderson better. Well, I like that one. I don't think
he'll like that one as much as Thicky Henderson.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
Thicky Henderson is number one. But the reason I like
the round mound of Puget sound is because of his
defensive skills. So then he really is channeling some Charles Barkley.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Maybe that's like we could play off nine inch nails,
but because he's a little thicker ten inch nails.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
Uh yeah, you know that, the wouldn't make him thicker,
just taller, taller.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
Yeah, you get what I'm saying. Just stick your hands out.
You're figuring the ten.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Screws nine inch screws. No, they're not changes. His name
is not Josh screw screw.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
Did you notice that the team was all Jimmy like
his One of his middle names is James. Okay, so
apparently he must go by Jimmy. Oh okay by it,
but I think that's the nickname that he's gotten in
the clubhouse.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Huh weird, Jimmy nails, Jimmy Nails, Jimmy jam nails.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
So you just let your brain stew on that. I'm
sure you're coming up with something.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
I think that's fun. Yeah, I like Thicky Anderson and
I probably will throw the round mount of Puget sound
out occasionally.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
Yeah, as you should, but it is a little long.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
You can't say it all the time. I'm not expecting
him to go buy it or have poster made or
have it put on the back of one of his jerseys,
but I'm gonna mention it every once in a while.
But yes, Josh Naylor will be announced a little bit
later on today, and he's one of the most thoughtful
professional athletes you'll ever hear interviewed, and so always time
(34:17):
to stop and hear what Josh Naylor has to say.
And so far he's only given us a quote, and
that quote has been how excited he is, how he
felt just immediately embraced when he came to Seattle, and
he does not want to leave here. So Josh Naylor's
going to remain a Mariner of course, what's next for
the MS. My crystal Ball forecast is officially out this morning.
(34:39):
Andrews Hurst and I we record Stove today, our second
episode of our Mariners offseason podcast, so we will dive
completely into this topic. Anders and I, Bucky Ashley and
I will talk a little bit more about it tomorrow,
but if you want to read it, a couple of
little upsets in there that I think you'll be interested in.
I'm not sure. I don't really even like it, but
(35:01):
the idea behind the crystal Ball is to stay within
the parameters of the finances that the organization operates under
and try to come up with a realistic game plan
that marries both what I think I'd like for them
to do and what I think they actually will do,
and ultimately they won't do anything that I say. All right?
