Speaker 1 (00:00):
Each time to talk all things college football.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
It's just like the menu at Taco Time. You just
can't get enough. You just can't get enough.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
This is our weekly visit with Rick new Heidel, brought
to you by Taco Time.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Nachos new Heidels used to be a moniker of mine.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
I mean just sell you know, now on your home
for college football Saturdays. Here's Nacho's new Heidel on Sports
Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
This is college football and I want you to get
it all over yourself.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Every Tuesday, Rick new Isle with us right here on
Checking Buck in the morning.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Hello, sir, Hey, how are you guys doing today?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We're doing great. How about yourself?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I got no bad news. I woke up this morning
in Birmingham, Alabama, and flew back to New York in
time to get the last portion of my radio show done,
and now here I am with you.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Okay. I'm curious, as it's a Husky UCLA week. Much
is your son bugging you for information about the Huskies?
And how much is Jedfish bugging you for information about UCLA? Interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you, right.
You know what I find as I get older, no
one really wants my information. I've been relegated to that
role as a father and just stay out of the way. Dad,
I got this. So I'm anxious for the game. I

(01:33):
think the quarterback is going to be healthy. He was unavailable,
Miko Iamaliavo was unavailable against Ohio State, and we know
what they do to opponent offenses, especially if you're down
a couple of guys. So I'm anxious to see UCLA
play better. But the way Washington was clicking last week,

(01:54):
it'll be uh, it'll be a tough shore for their defense.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah, they were, they were clicking, and then they have
some injuries. And yet I am curious just as far
as UCLA goes, what is it that the Huskies need
to worry about the most.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I think, you know, the player is Miko i Amaliaba,
and when his legs get involved, then they become dangerous.
But getting to that portion of their offenses, it's been difficult.
Early in the season. The defense was doing really, really well.
The last couple of times out times out, they they've struggled.

(02:32):
They couldn't stop Nebraska, who had kind of a fleet
of foot quarterback, a freshman that was playing that particular
day TJ Latif, and I don't know that they'll be
able to corral Demon Williams given what we've seen of
him and his ability to make plays with his legs.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
The Bruins saw the number one ranked team in the
country up close and personal last week. Are the defending
national champs even better this year than they were last season?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
You know, I don't know that I see vulnerability right now.
No one's been able, no one's been able to exploit it.
But I don't know that they can just move you
off the ball as an offensive line. I think they're
you know what we saw with Texas A and M
coming from behind in that game against South Carolina this week,

(03:27):
what we saw Indiana coming from behind against Penn State
a week ago. Those are the three undefeated teams. Ohio
State really hasn't been challenged like that. Their freshman quarterback
hasn't been challenged like that, needing to make a comeback.
You know, he's been pretty comfortable the entire year, I think,

(03:48):
And we'll wait and see what happens when they play
against Michigan, But I think that's the disadvantage going into
the College Football Playoff Tournament. Because you need to know
that you can do that, and having not had that experience,
I think they're vulnerable. I would not bet them as
the favorite to win this whole thing. Take the house,

(04:10):
I'd take the house, I take the field, Take the field.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Well, basically at that point in the season where I
mean kind of getting down to the nitty grit and
you'll have some big time, you know, rivalry games coming up.
I mean, are you expecting chaos or would you? Does
it feel like this season is more destined for kind
of the chalk what we're seeing right now. Let's just
say you know that there's not going to be a
ton of upheaval. As far as the College Playoff is going, well.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I think it's really fascinating in the SEC because there
are still six teams that can finish with two losses
or better, and is there room for all six? Therein
lies the problem in the Big twelve. Is there another

(04:59):
team that's going to get in with Texas Tech or
derailed Texas Tech in the championship game? And if in
fact that happens, does that take two teams and does
that kick out another SEC team? So those are all
interesting things. It looks like Notre Dame has secured their spot.
They've got Syracuse left at home, which is going to

(05:21):
be a wildly overmatched team, and then they travel to
the West Coast to play Stanford. Sanford could give them
a fight. But the way Notre Dame's playing right now
and the way they negotiated this deal in the college
football playoffs, I mean, they're sitting there as still six
spots ahead of Miami. We'll wait and see what happens tonight.

(05:41):
But Miami beat them, and I'm just sitting there. If
I'm Miami, I got to be going crazy. I mean,
Miami beat North Carolina State this week the same way
that Notre Dame did. Why are they so far behind them?
And if you're talking about, you know, penalties that should
have been called, you know Texas A and m beating

(06:02):
Notre Dame, they could say, hey, there was a holding
call that was blatantly missed. You could point out Miami's
lost SMU. There was a a necessary roughness penalty where
the guy tried to hold hold up the quarterback. He
just didn't near the whistle and they called it on
him to give the SMU a chance for the game
time field goal, So it's it's just wildly advantageous for

(06:24):
the Irish right now.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Rick new isil is with it. Certainly. Oklahoma shipped things
up last week with their win over Alabama. Both of
those teams should make it into the College Football Playoff rankings,
which will be revealed the latest little later on tonight.
I'm curious, though the Koogs have a game at James Madison,
they could have an effect on keeping a team here

(06:46):
out of the NCAA tournament. Would the committee really consider
James Madison as that twelfth and final team or are
they fighting a hopeless battle there?

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Well, given the kind of carnage that were watching in
the American and the fact that San Diego State went
out and got beat at Hawaii, we're sitting here, I mean,
Navy's sitting at eight and two, tou Lane's at eight
and two, Tulane has the signature went over Duke. North
Texas is at nine and one. With a win over Navy,

(07:20):
North Texas as a twelve and one American Conference champion
would stay. It would be ahead of James Madison, but
the projections are that North Texas won't get there, which
is why JMU is getting all this love. The one
loss that James Madison had was to Louisville, which was
a pretty good team. They only lost by a couple

(07:41):
of touchdowns. So Bob Chesney, who's being rivered for some
jobs out there and included amongst his UCLA, has done
a nice job with JMU. And if you're trying to
capture a little of that signetti magic, why wouldn't you
go back there and see if you can pluck another
one of those guys?

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Why not?

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Un Yeah, this is that year or that week that
typically happens, and it's one that's kind of argued about.
It seems like every single year, and understandably so. Where
the SEC, I mean, like the few top teams in
the SEC, Alabama's playing Eastern Illinois, George's playing Charlotte, and
Texas A and M's planning Sanford. I mean, is this

(08:22):
a thing if we were to fast forward a week
from now, We'll talk to you next week as well,
but that you could see the committee punishing these.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Guys for doing that.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
If all of a sudden they stand pat and win
by forty, but another team that's playing somebody of their
caliber wins, they could end up losing a spot in
this thing.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
From your lips to God's ears, Bucky. But no, they're
not going to punish him. This was a genius move
years ago by Mike Slive and I pointed it out
years ago on the PAC twelve network, and no one
took heed. I mean, it's just an absolute gamesmanship by
moving one of your ear by games, one of those
you know, easy games. And remember, the SEC, at least

(09:05):
this season is still only playing eight conference games. So
to put this right in the in the penultimate weekend
of the season and to say that that's a game
while everybody else is beating each other's brains out in
all these conference races, you can understand.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
How they went.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Right to the top of the charts in the CFP.
It was brilliantly done and it was the Mike's Live
idea and they still do it. And so we've got
Charlotte at Georgia, We've got Mercer at Auburn, Eastern Illinois
at Alabama. I call these the reindeer games, Coastal Carolina
at South Carolina, and Western Kentucky at LSU. Last week

(09:44):
it was Tennessee Tech at Kentucky. So yeah, make of
it what you will, but it is Stamford at Texas
A and M a thriller this week. That will make
five teams that A and M has played this year
who no longer have their head coach that started to
see this.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Wow, coach killer. Why the reindeer games? Am I not
catching onto something here? Why do you call them the
rain I'm just just.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
The reindeer games just because they're just ridiculous games. Okay,
you know they shouldn't be there. I mean, but it's
genius scheduling, and it's because of the damage of a
late loss as compared to an early loss. Just put
these in there at the end and let everybody else
lose and the committee just doesn't catch on.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Alabama facing the Island of Misfit Toys Tech this weekend.
There you go, great program. George's only favored over Charlotte
by forty five? Is that all.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Charlie in the box playing quarterback in that one?

Speaker 1 (10:44):
I think he's at Island of Misfit Toys A and
M if I'm not mistaken. Rick new Isle is with
US our College Football Insider. Of course, he does the
same thing for CBS Sports and he's got a few
coaching credentials former UDUB head coach as we all know,
and a segment with us every week is brought to
you by Taco Time. All right, let's get to some

(11:05):
of these more intriguing games this weekend, and Big ten
might own the most intriguing one with the Oregon hosting USC.
I mean, it feels like Lincoln Riley has been skewed
by them by critics and understandably so ever since he
stepped foot on campus at USA. But don't look now,

(11:26):
he's actually got them in position to maybe make the tournament.
But he's going to need a win at Oregon. Can
he get that done?

Speaker 2 (11:35):
This is going to be a great contest because they
have played gritty this year. You got to give Lincoln
credit for what they've done to kind of make themselves
a little bit more physical from a standpoint of running
the football. They've won a couple of, you know, basic

(11:56):
ground and pound type of games against both Michigan and
last week against Iowa. And when you win those kind
of games, you put yourself in position to play for
big prizes. And that's exactly what will take place in Eugene.
And give the Ducks credit to they went to Kinnick
Stadium and beat Iowa in Iowa weather and basically held

(12:20):
served and did so again a last week against Minnesota
on a Friday night. So this is going to be
a great game. I think Oregon has the advantage. I
think Oregon's probably a little bit more talented, except at
the wide receiver position. But if Dante More plays like
he did against Minnesota, I'm gonna take the Ducks.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
And of course that's on CBS on CBS. Okay, all right,
I got the big one there. All right, how's this
ACC going to shake out? And will Georgia Tech versus
Pitt have a say in that? Big time?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Pitt gets to write their own story here at the end. Now,
they laid an egg against Notre Dame last week, but
if they can beat Georgia Tech, and Georgia Tech's defense
is given up massive chunks of yardage. So if this
Mason Hinchel, that freshman quarterback, can have a day again
and they can beat Georgia Tech at Georgia Tech, then
they'll get to play Miami the next week to get

(13:19):
a chance to be in the SEC excuse me, ACC Championship.
Virginia has a clear path. They just have Virginia Tech.
They get this week off. They get Virginia Tech next week.
But they've struggled against Virginia Tech over the a long time.
And you know who's sneaking around the chicken coop is SMU.
SMU only has one loss. They get Louisville at home

(13:41):
this week. Louisville lost again last week to Clemson, so
they're out. But if they knock off Louisville, then they're
going to go to cal to try to also be
in that number that can be playing in Charlotte. So
much still to be determined in the ACC, and there's
only going to be one team that.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Emerges, Cincinnati. B You is that a playoff game in essence?
Or Cincinnati? Do they have too big of a hurdle
to overcome?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Cincinnati can get there. If Cincinnati knocks off BYU, that
gives b YU the second loss in the conference and
that makes Cincinnati on par and they would own the tiebreaker. Unfortunately,
Cincinnati lost to Utah, so then other things come into play.
And I haven't done all that math yet, but Utah

(14:29):
is hoping like heck that Cincinnati can pull this off
so they can get themselves another chance at the Red Raiders.
But beat if your Brett, your Mark for and the
commissioner of the league. You want BYU to get to
Arlington against Texas Tech because those two teams, I think,
regardless of the outcome, would both get into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
All right, nice? All right? So what is our Taco
Time pick of the week for this week?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
I think we're going to take be YU at Cincinnati.
We're gonna take them. I think that they're they're worth
the look there, it was an impressive win getting off
the mat after losing last week to UH Texas Tech.
They came back and got TCU and got them soundly.
So I'm going to take the Cougars this week.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
So you're not going to take Eastern Illinois on the
money line, That's what I'm gonna glean.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I'm deciding against it. Yeah, I'm trying to think of
another character from Rudolph to see if the island of
missed but toy? Who else could.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Be on the d L there? Well, Yukon Cornelius is out.
Great defensive line.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Is out with a pick axe injury.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh it happens way too often. Back up there, dangerous
place to play football. All right? Well, so last minute.
What I mean, Washington U c l A. I mean,
you've got ties to both these programs, and you got
a son coaching. I mean, what kind of memories does
that stir up in Rick new Heizel's past.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
So the first time we played him, I'm the head
coach now at Washington. My first year, we beat Stanford,
and now we actually have a chance to go and
get ourselves into the Rose Bowl, win the conference. We've
got a path, and we go. But Marcus got hurt
against Stanford. Despite the fact that he set an NCAA

(16:28):
record three hundred yards passing in two hundred yards rushing,
he had hurt his backside, so to speak, and couldn't practice.
So we get there and he's going to play, but
I mean he's stiff as a board, and so we
struggle a little bit offensively. We kick a fifty six
yard field goal to get ourselves into overtime. John Anderson
hit it, and now we're going to go into overtime,

(16:51):
and he's trying to hit I think he's trying to
hit Todd Elstrom on a corner route, or maybe he
was trying to hit Jeremy Steve on a steam route
and he should have been thrown it to Elstrom on
the corner route, and we threw a pick and end
up losing in overtime to UCLA. We'd beat Washington State
the next week, and the ifs and butts just kicked

(17:13):
flowing through my mind. But I'll tell you all those
kids were back last week for the reunion of that
twenty five year reunion of the Rose Bowl team, and
they had a blast. I got a great picture, a
bunch of smiling faces of some forty year olds that
have a memory for a lifetime.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
That's awesome. All right, Well, enjoy the football this weekend
and we'll talk to you next Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Appreciate it. See you now.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
The one the only Rick new Isil joining us right
here on Chucking Buck in the morning is segment brought
to you by the Delicious Food at Taco time. They
buy their own advertising. The food is just that advanced,
all right. Coming up next, the old Judge stops by
Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. The one hundred
and fourth is now in the courtroom.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
That means, thank you, great great grandchildren for continuing the lineage.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
I only rise for the first, only for the first do.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
It way back at the beginning of time.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
It's where my allegiance lies.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
There was thag and there was arg Yep, and then
there was Cornelius Buckhole Jacobson. The first they lived in
a cave together the way back in the.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Day, and then they created like a little table, and
that's where they ruled on the things of the land.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
That's how you end up with one hundred table we
invented the wheel with. Yeah, that's how I end up
with one hundred four generations of Jacobson. The just start early,
one hundred four generations of corn Holes. All right, well,
let's get into it. The old judges here, we've got
some topics to discuss in his courtroom. Here's how it works.
I'll bring up a subject, Ashley and I discuss it briefly,

(18:59):
and then once the judge has heard enough, he bangs
his gabble gabble, gabble gabble. Ashley and I have to
zip it, and the old judge weighs in.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
And you guys don't always zip it, uh, And so
there's a good chance that you will be thrown into
old judge jail.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Okay, I try to zip it.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Did you ever try Old judge, jail, do you ever
spend any time.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
No, but I'm not opposed to it.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Yeah, don't eat the gum.

Speaker 5 (19:25):
Oh that's probably a good idea. Thank you for the
tip before I head him there.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, don't do that. All right, let's get it started.
This courtroom would be perfectly fine with Ben Williamson starting
at third base on opening day twenty twenty six.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Well, I think this courtroom probably would be totally fine
with Ben Williamson starting at third because his defense is
very good. It's just the bat that concerns me. But
maybe he's had enough time. He'll you know, he's got
to you got to get the reps to get better.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
I think i's lying, old judge. I think she wants Gino,
and she's angry that I'm even mentioning this. That's what
I think. I think you might be right. I think
she's perjuring herself. Don't do that.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Well, you said this courtroom not necessarily me only, it's
never just you will. Yeah, so that's why I'm saying yes.
So I'm saying the courtroom. I think the consensus, I
would guess would be that people would be fine. I
still love Gino. I have a big geno size heart.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
I would be fine. I mean, I'm not saying that's
my choice. I would be fine. If Ben Williamson ends
up being our starting third basement at the beginning of
the next year, I'm willing to give him another shot
at it. Number two. I do believe that this organization
kind of likes the way things unfolded last year, and
they kind of liked the idea of getting to the
trade deadline and then deciding how we're gonna plug what

(20:48):
we might have as holes. And then the third thing
is cold. Emerson's going to be ready sooner than later,
and I think there's chance he'll be our third basement
at some point next year and eventually the short stop
replacing Gabble gabl Gavel Gavel.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
I do think you're right on the colt Emerson will
eventually be our shortstop. And yet if he is, if
he's quick, and if he's ready to go at some
point next year, it could be coming out of spring training.
I don't think that anyone if they let Gino go,
which you know, if he ends up signing somewhere else,
and I assume that is going to happen, because he's
gonna get some big money, and they're probably not gonna

(21:25):
want a pony up for that. They've already shown their
hand that they're willing to let him go. They think
there's another way in which you can block and tackle
that position. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's the
way in which it goes. And yet I think Ben
Williamson kind of if there's a one or a one,
A one B, however the depth chart looks at this point,

(21:46):
I think he is number one, and I'll be fine
with that because he saves your runs defensively, and he
grinds out AB's, he tries, and he's he only had,
you know, two hundred and seventy AB's last year. He
didn't play all that long. And yet I saw moments
of growth where he understands his role. He puts the
ball in player, tries to put the ball in play,
and at times he was making some stuff happen. There's

(22:07):
there's just a lot of growth that needs to happen
for me to consider him the guy that I want
playing third when it's time to go win a World Series.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
The next professional athlete to intentionally spit on an opponent
should just be suspended. For the rest of the season.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
I think if you are intentionally spitting on an opponent,
then yes, because clearly this is happening too often now.
And then you know, like with Jamar Chase's argument apparently
for his suspension is well, if I wanted to spit
on Janalin Ramsey, I would have spit on his face.
Like that's that's not a good argument, Like spitting should
never happen. There's no place for it. It is incredibly disgusting,

(22:44):
It is beyond rude, and there's no there should be
no place for that in sports. In life, you should
never spit on another human.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
I just don't know how the message hasn't gotten clear. Yeah,
we don't allow this in professional sports, is any kind
of sport. We just don't allow that kind of disrespect
to your opponent, and so I don't know what it's
going to take to get through to them. It's the
same thing with carrying the ball over the goal line.

(23:11):
How many times are we going to see such stupidity.
I think maybe you should just do that. If you
can't carry the ball over the goal line, or if
you spit on some other human being, you should just
be suspended for the rest of the season without cavel
Cavel cavel one percent.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
I don't understand the idea of I mean, sportsmanship used
to be something that was taught, and I get that
when tempers flare, you do things. I mean, I'm also
one that sits here and says I'm okay with a
brawl breaking out in sports Well, is what's worse punching
somebody in the face or spitting on their chest? I mean, well,
I think spitting is more disrespectful. Yeah, but it's not worse.

(23:51):
It doesn't really hurt you.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
And yet you have daggers bleeding from spit.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Oh wow, that's my skin's melting off.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
What sur covid If you spit you would be attempted murder? Yeah,
basically you even got within six feet. You were trying
to kill somebody.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah I know, like, yeah, yeah, you're trying to kill me.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Breathe It's I I just think that you got to
figure out a way to nip it in the bud
because it's not the one game suspension. And Jamar Chase,
like you said, he's he's going to appeal it, even
though you were caught on camera spitting on him. How
does a loogi just accidentally just shoot out of your

(24:36):
mouth while you're arguing with an opponent.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
It need to go so dumb that you're even trying.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
You don't just say yeah, I did, and it's a
bad look and I shouldn't do it. He pisses me
off and he said something and I wanted to spit
on him. That's not the way to handle it. I
should have waited until the next time that I could
try to run him over and do it instead. He didn't,
So yeah, suspend him, and I think it needs to
be more substantial. Otherwise these guys don't care about one game.
Especially he's probably good. I could take another bye week.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
I love that in the and it's getting worked up.
Old Judge actually used the phrase who bitterly? Who I really?
I don't know how I knew that playing for one thing. Yeah,
number three? Enough is enough? Ken Walker, first string, Zach Charbonay,

(25:26):
back up, George hallany mop up duty? That's it. That's
the depth chart.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Yes, I was when we were talking about this earlier
and Greg was saying, you think it was Yeah. Greg
was saying, oh, well, now, yes they are. I asked,
I asked Mike McDonald about it, and now they are
going to start to work ken Walker into more plays.
Now with seven games left, you you're now going to
start your starting running back working into more plays. And
I understand they've been nursing this foot injury whatever ankle injury,

(25:54):
but I think I don't understand it. The running game
hasn't been as successful as he wanted to be because
don't have your starter in there.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Clear cut, Charbon is just situational and when Walker needs
a rest, that's it. Yep, cavel, cavel, cavel.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
I'm with you guys as far as if we want
the run, if you want the run game to be
like highly effective, that's more than just well, they have
to honor it because we will hand the ball off
a bunch of times. And then, yes, your best best
runner is ken Walker. And we've all seen that a
guy can get into a flow and all of a
sudden it can benefit him. I'll say this, and I don't.
I don't live and die by PFF rankings. And yet,

(26:33):
just in this last game, and it's been this has
been a trend for more than just this last game.
The best pass blocker on the team was Zach Charboney.
The worst was Olo Timmy the second worst was Ken Walker.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
It is a factor. That's a factor, and so you.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Can't just say, okay, when we're going to pass Zach charbonaey,
you go in there, because then you'd give it a
and hey, when we're gonna run, now, can you go
in the game. And they're like, oh, well they're running
here because they never You know, you don't want your
quarterback to not be able to check to a pass
play because he feels like the guy's standing beside me
or behind me is not capable of picking up where
we send him. So that could be part of the reason.

(27:11):
And the fact that they're trying to keep him healthy.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
For the long haul. All of that stuff plays into it.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
So I think there's still is going to be a
timeshare even if they get implement more runs for all Right.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Fair enough, let's close with the phone. We got closed
with a fun one. Even though we're late seeing Bruce
arians rock the Keangle had on TV right now. I
could see Bucky becoming a Cagle hat guy in the
next year or two.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
Yes, please, yep, I could see Cavel Cavel. It's already
owned one. Well, so I don't really try to do
much dressing to come here. I have warned a couple times.
I almost wore it on TV.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
A couple of years ago when I was doing one
of the I almost rocked it, but it didn't match
my vest that day.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
A little bit of a different too much of a
different shade. You need numerous caangles I do need to
match anything. I need to step my Cagle game up. Yeah,
I could see you doing that me too. Even a pipe,
like just going into like a classier version of yourself. Okay,
tweet caangle, a pipe, yeah, maybe a monocle.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
Maybe a sweater your shoulders, anything else, sweater in your pocket, yeah, monicle,
tweet jack cane, Yeah necessary.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
It's such a that's such a boss move when you
don't even have a limp and you have.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
A you're that guy from boys Cement at that point
and nobody knows really what the king was for.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Forget the monica. I was kidding about that caangle and Caine.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
Okay, that's a good company.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Busted out tomorrow coming up next. One last thing, kJ R.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
You're out the way to nip it in the bud
because it's not the one game suspension and Jamar Chase,
like you said, he's he's going to appeal it, even
though you were caught on camera spitting on him intentional.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
How does a loogie? Just accidentally.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
I did say billy, who oh who?

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Every time?

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Who know how you heard that though? Because I didn't,
I miss that entirely.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
I didn't hear it. It came out of my mouth. I
want you to introduce it is part of your glossary
of terms every time you got a problem with something.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
Okay, the old judge.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
He'll loan it out everyone to me. I want it
right in the middle of Hugh milling analysis. Oh Billy, Hugh.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
He will be like, who you calling a baby?

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Billy? Who you? That's a great that's a good one.
Who by who? You and your mumbo jumbo know what
that means?

Speaker 5 (29:49):
It means anything doesn't need to It's provocative. Who gets
the people going all right? By the way, I was
also thinking about it. Not a cane, No, the person
that rocks the staff. It's not just for wizards and
warlocks anymore.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
No, you've come out vikings.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Ah, sure sta staff go with a cagle it you
never had for a staff.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
No, you don't want to. Because I did see somebody
dressed like Gandalf at the bookstore the other day. Did
you you don't want to go that way? You're creating
a new look. Oh look this is me, This is
part of me. Okay, yeah, so a Cagle. You just
got to get the right staff pipe staff.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Staff's gonna make or break it.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Yeah, I gotta get the right one, all right. One
last thing, what do we go? What do you got?

Speaker 4 (30:40):
I last night, I don't know if you guys ever
watched the el the Manning cast thing anymore? I switch around,
I mean, which sometimes it just gets on one and
I stay there. But yesterday I gave the Manning Cast
one a good a good watch for part of the
game last night, and it just made me reminded me
of one of the things that I missed the most
about playing is the the joking, just joking, not altogether pranks.

(31:04):
But Eli Manning brought up a prank they had Derek
Carr on and they were talking about what he did
to him at his first Pro Bowl, Derek Carr's first
Pro Bowl that he said, Hey, man, what room are
you at? And Derek Carr thought, oh wow, Eli's being nice.
He's like being a friend, and he said, send me
something send something up to my room. No, he just

(31:25):
asked what room he was in so he could charge
all of the offensive lineman's drinks to his room.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Oh my gosh, like that is awesome.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
That is awesome. I was last week.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
I was hanging out somewhere and a buddy of mine
played its Rain and Men that song, and so I
told the story of how I changed my buddy's walk
up song. Yeah, he's just getting ready to go up
there and battle and compete, and it's Rain and Men.
And he turns around and our whole dougout was dying
laughing because we all knew what was happening.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
He didn't.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
He struck out. Then he was really mad. But anyway,
it's just stuff like that I miss. Yeah, we need
to bring it back, start bringing it, doing it here.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
I like pranks. Let's keep doing Let's start him here
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Little yeah, you know, not like blowing up somebody's car. No, okay,
Oh I.

Speaker 5 (32:15):
Should take the dynamite out.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah yeah, take that. Yeah, let's remove that.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
I think I think I went too far too quick.
One last thing, well, I was going to use this
Jamar Chase thing, but we ended up talking about it.
In the old Judge. But I just thought, as who
I just thought as I was reading it, like that's
the thing that I can't understand is, Yeah, you are
on film spitting on another person, and you're going to
say if I was trying to spit on him, I

(32:41):
would have spit on his face. Like that's a good argument.
And so then what is it that, yeah, you spit,
but you missed his face. And I mean, I don't know.
I just think, as as we talked about in there,
I think, honestly, as silly, maybe as it sounds, are overreactive,
maybe as it sounds to suspend anyone that does that
for the entire season. Yeah, you don't. You don't have

(33:02):
respect for the people you're playing, so you shouldn't be playing.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
I'm just tired of hearing about it. How can it's
just like just like not holding onto the ball past
the goal line? Like how many times this have to happen?
How many times people have to get embarrassed? How many
times do people have to hear the lecture how disrespectful
this is, and it somehow just keeps continuing. What is
it that is natural in you that you would ever
come to the point.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
That's what I can't figure out. Yeah, the natural reaction
would be punch him, hit him something.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Yeah, yeah, all right, I'll close with this and this
will be really quick. I mean he might feel twenty
four at age forty four, but Mike Bnton's the first
guy eliminated from our fantasy football league. Nice season, four
year old.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Good job. Yeah, work that one out.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Yeah yeah, you might feel twenty years younger, but you're
not twenty years better. Yeah yeah, sucker.

Speaker 7 (33:48):
Well I just pulled off a trade with him. Oh
is that right? Yeah, I might have to. I'm as commissioner.
I might have to blow the whistle. He's been eliminated.
What is he going to get out of it? Well,
it still is a fair he actually I offered.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Him one that had been way more in my favor first,
and he came back with We went back and forth.
Most I need a running back, so I got hit
the backup. I got Dave Montgomery. He's a backup, but
he still can be good.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Still. Troy Franklin feels like a load of who Btterley,
who if you have running back?

Speaker 4 (34:18):
Somebody did try to veto it we need somebody did
try to video veto the trade.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
I don't know who did.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Really, I didn't even know that you could do that.

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
