Our buddy, Huey Millen, how are you man?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
What's happening?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Guys?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, I'm gonna take in Florida against Ole, Miss. Gonna
be looking at Jackson Dark Yeah. Good for you watching
some SC football and I'm gonna I'm gonna either confirm
or deny the idea that it's just different down here.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
No, I think you'll be looking at some other stuff
besides Jackson Dart too.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
So just make sure that Michelle doesn't come.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
My red blooded American boys. I'm sure that that's true.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Hugh Millin's.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Well, say, Huey, let's go back to San Francisco. And
I remember having you on last week and we talked
about the linebackers. Is it fair to kind of get
on Schneider for you know, signing two guys that didn't
make it to Thanksgiving, or should we give him a
compliment for getting rid of two guys that he thought
was a problem, And you said a little bit of both.
But what did we see out of Ernest Jones and
(03:16):
Tyree Knight's Sunday at the linebacker spot that maybe we
hadn't seen from Dodson and Baker.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Well, vast improvement. Let's start with Ernest Jones and what
I see as an upgrade, first of all, is in
the physicality. With Dodson, there was many times where I'd watch,
you know, particularly in the end zone copy. You know,
you look at the front and you say, okay, he's
got the A gap or he may have the B gap,
whatever it is. He's okay, yeah, you got your gap.
(03:43):
But you're not taking on the block with any ferocity.
You're just letting runs gas right through. You're not she
shedding blocks, you're not slipping in avoiding blocks. And so
we saw far more of that. You know, go back
to the seventy six yard run in the first game
against the forty nine ers, the one that sealed it
late in the game. That was just a stretch play
(04:05):
to a third string halfback, the most basic formation, basic blocking,
no eye candy, no motions, and Dodson couldn't get to
the right gap. So now in Jones, you see a
guy that understands obviously his gap integrity, but he's creating
more mayhem. He's taking on blocks with physicality, slipping blocks
(04:26):
after contact, he's shedding blocks, and then when he's making tackles,
he's squaring up and he's dropping the hammer. So loving
what we're seeing early on with him, and then with
Tyree Knight, the question that Ben Okay, here's a guy
that has the physical goods, but in the study with
him coming out of college, watching him early on in
(04:46):
his work here with the Seahawks is a little bit undisciplined,
his eyes easy to be fooled with misdirection. I think
with more experience he's just going to get better and
better in that regard. There was no gaping, real critical
errors that he committed against the forty nine ers. I
think he's playing faster because he's reacting, not thinking, and
(05:07):
again less susceptible to misdirections. So I think that in
that tandem, you're you're looking at something that has a
chance to be a real foothold in Mike McDonald's defense.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
You on the other side of the ball, you had
forty of a new offensive line with Olu and the
return of Abe Lucas. I mean, the numbers don't look great,
less than four yards per carry on offense from Walker
and sharbon A and Gino was sacked four times. But
did the film show you anything you should be encouraged
about with those two?
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah, and he didn't play all the snaps. Remember now,
Michael Darrell was still kind of rotating in I'm assuming
that's just a pitch count or or a fatigue issue.
But when when Abraham Lucas was in there, you know,
I forgot how how thick his frame is. You know,
there's a Paul Bunyon quality to just looking at him,
and and there's a strength there. You know, he's got
(05:58):
good fundamentals with the white face and low hips and
so he's just a stronger man. So I think that
signs are encouraging there. I know that he was really
fatigued at the end of the game, but good to
have seventy two back in as far as Ola with Timmy,
I'm encouraged obviously, by what I saw with forty nine Ers,
because there was very few minuses and no critical minuses
(06:22):
other than maybe a hot snap or two. But that
seems to be an issue regardless of who's snapping to
Gino Smith, but as far as he's blocking, I got
to see a few more weeks because the forty nine ers, guys,
they got to tell you watching the tape, it kind
of blew me away how much they've dropped in their
talent on the defensive side of the ball. I mean,
(06:43):
it used to be like watching an All Star team,
and they still got three great players Warner and Diamador
and Lenor and bos Of when he's healthy. But other
than that, you know, they don't have Javon Hargrave. He's
not really the player he was. Eric Armstead has gone.
(07:03):
You know, the type of guy's inside that olo Tommy
was blocking. I wasn't impressed, but you know he had
more than a passing grade. We'll see what happens this Sunday.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Well, Hugh Millin is with us, and yeah, I mean, guys,
Bosa getting banged up might be the biggest reason why
the Hawks won that game in the end on Sunday,
I mean, all their points, always say, Dick, all their
points came with Bosa on the sideline, so you know,
losing him, Hugh. I told Dick it kind of reminded
me of when April left in the second half of
the Super Bowl against the Patriots and how they just
kind of took off. But dude, Jackson Smith and Jigba,
(07:35):
I love playing the pace game, especially when it's a
very small sample like three weeks for.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Jackson Smith and Jigba.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Jackson Smith and Jigba the last three weeks has been
on one hundred and thirty catch two thousand yard pace
receiving wise. For Ryan Grubbs offense, thirty one targets in
three games, it's one hundred and seventy plus targets. He's
on pace four. If that was extrapolated over the entire year.
What is going on with Jackson Smith and Jigba all
(08:04):
of a sudden, it is he kind of taking a step, you.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Think, yeah, And I would say the injury to DK
Metcalf kind of just opened the door for him, and
you want to further do the breakdown game. The two
games that the DK miss there was one hundred and
fifty six plays, which is of course divisible by fifty two.
If you say the first one hundred and four, that
would be the first two thirds. Jaysn was doing nothing.
(08:31):
Play number one oh five of that he had like
a forty six yarder and from that point on the
remaining fifty two plays and then we saw against the
forty nine ers just remarkable. But I want to just
touch for a second. I'm going to take you guys
down a slightly different lane with jsm Okay and Dick Fang.
(08:52):
Will you help me out. You got a pen, write
this down. In the state of Washington, the for a
level of football, you got to have twelve hundred and
one or more students. Remember that twelve oh one, and
of which there're sixty high schools. Got it. Twelve oh
one is the threshold, and there's sixty highs. In the
state of Texas they have their highest classification is six A,
(09:14):
which is two thousand, one hundred and ninety students as
opposed to twelve oh one, and there's two hundred and
fifty two schools that have that. Okay, and then furthermore,
you take California. This is from the National Federation of
High Schools. California has eighty nine thousand, two hundred high
(09:35):
school players. Ohio has forty three thousand and change. They
are two and three. Number one is Texas with one
hundred and seventy one thousand football players. Like it is
a culture like I live down there briefly. It is
a culture like none other. It's everything you've ever heard.
I mean, it's like no soup for you. If you
(09:57):
don't play football. It's written their constitution. You don't get
the kiss girls like this is their culture. So JSM,
where am I going? They've had the Gatorade State Player
of the Year in Texas since nineteen eighty five, thirty
nine years. There's only been one receiver in the entire
(10:19):
time to get the Gatorade State Player of the Year
and it was Jackson Smith and Jigla. That tells you
something about that cat. And I mean in that year,
in addition to ridiculous receiving numbers, he was thirty yards
per part return. There is a guy that went to
Ohio State as a true sophomore broke the Big Ten
(10:40):
record for receiving yards. Despite the fact that Jarrett Wilson
and Chris o' lobby number one picks were on either
side of him. He set the Rose Bowl record for
receiving yards in that sophomore year. There is every reason
to believe that him come to the Seahawks, he's going
to be an elite player, and no to believe that
(11:00):
he's not. And it's taken a little time, but you
just watch him a couple of things. First of all,
his ability to put moves on defenders within zone like
man and man moves. Even though he knows in zone
and he knows where the help is to the inside,
he'll put a move on the outside and then he'll
(11:21):
get friendly to the quarterback. His awareness is now I'm
going to take a stab at this analogy. They say
Jimmy Hendrix could play lead guitar with the top part
of his hand and rhythm guitar with the bottom. I
don't know, I'm not a musician. Sounds pretty cool like
Jimmy Hendrix. This is a guy in JSN. I know
you're gonna say, well, okay, now he's the Jimmy Hendrix
(11:42):
of slot receivers. Yeah go be that guy, Da Sam,
We'll build a statute for you. But he has an
ability to put man and man moves on guys with
a clear understanding of the zone package around him. He
just has phenomenal instincts. That's his mental sty the physical side,
here's a guy that went to the combine. Now he
(12:03):
had a hamstring. He ran four four to eight. I
believe not elite, but he's a real low cut guy. Short,
short legged, long torso guy. The long legged, the high
cut guys tend to be the fast guys, but his
low cut frame, the strength and balance he has, I
bet he'd be an unbelievable skier, like great mobile skier.
(12:26):
But getting back to football, he went to the combine
and he had the fastest time in both the three
cone drill and the twenty yards shuttle. So the short
area of quickness, he's elite because again his frame maybe
not the top end speed, but he's e leade in
the quickness. He's a leade in his understanding, he's elite
in his instincts. He's e leite in his hands and
(12:47):
tracking the football. There are there are several attributes of
him as a receivers that are not just a A
plus quality and he's just finally starting to show it.
I mean, I just I just love watching the guy
because he's so dog on talented. There's a humility that
shows through and and and that football IQ just blows
(13:08):
my mind. For a young guy, Dick, what is he
like twenty two years old?
Speaker 2 (13:11):
You know, I mean he's two twenty three in February,
by the way, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So, I mean, it's gonna be fun
to watch this guy. Obviously, it's a passing of the
torch from Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett's not gonna be playing
for Seattle next year, certainly not at that contract. So
the pandy that the tandem, rather the pairing of him
and Dka is just it figures to work beautifully for
the next handful of years.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Hugh, we were all thrilled at the possibility of Gino
Smith having the best year of his career under Ryan Grubb.
And you gave us some numbers. I'll give you some
numbers QBR twenty twenty two. He had a sixty three
last year, was down to a sixty this year. It's
down to a fifty five touchdown to interception ratio, basically
three to one two years ago, two to one last year,
(14:00):
and this year eleven touchdowns on eleven interceptions. A one
to one ratio is he regressing this.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Year, Well, I think you can throw in some of
the numbers with him. Uh uh you know, down the
line and third down and red zone. That's simply you know,
because because right now this is the week that we
uh we kind of trumpet his two minute prowess and
and in the last two years he's got the most
(14:25):
game winning drives and that is legit. But uh, you know,
there's those are just part of the specialties, uh and
and and special situations because not all plays are created equal. Well,
he's got to be better on third down in the
red zone. I won't get into all the stats, We'll
do that on another conversation, but I would not say
(14:48):
that he's regressing. There's still the X factor of of
what the line is giving him on a consistent basis.
But you know, he just has to avoid those big
negative plays in the over the twenty twenty two and
twenty twenty three, he had the turnover worthy plays. If
(15:10):
you just there's a matrix you could say, well, who's
the luckiest quarterback in the NFL? And how would you
determine that? Well, that'd be how many turnover worthy plays
do you have? And then how many actual turnovers do
you have The average is eighty percent of your turnover
worthy plays are resulting in tournaments. Well, Gino was fifty
(15:33):
one percent, and out of the entire league, the only
guy who was luckier was was Daniel Jones. So he's
been lucky and then now it's kind of catching up
to him. Some of these mistakes you've made are turning
into actual turnover.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, well, few millains with us on the show and
Hugh before we kind of move on, they announced it
coz it yesterday or two days ago whatever it was,
that semi finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame
and that Earl has had made the list of the
semi finalists and went back and looked at the All
Decades team. He was one of the safeties on the
All Decades Team from the twenty tens, and the two
(16:09):
guys that were on the All Decade team from the
two thousands are both in the Hall of Fame, and
Brian Dawkins and Ed Reid. But you know, I mean
Ed Reid was a five time first team All Pro
and led the league in interceptions three times, So it
doesn't really just you know, it's not apples to apples.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I get that.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
But does does Earl Thomas strike you as a Hall
of Fame caliber safety.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Yes, but I don't think he's a no doubter, not
in the sense that Bobby Wagner is a no doubter.
I think Richard Sherman has a more credible candidacy in
my mind, just in terms of this domination. And you know,
one of the things that I think is a misnomer
about Earl Thomas is the sideline the sideline factor, and
(16:54):
what I mean by that is this, in actuality, a
free safety shit never be part of a sideline to sideline,
go get a go route unless the quarterback is eyeball
and staring down and not doing the proper job of
holding the free safety. And there are I don't want
to say none, because that's an absolute tournament, and then
all you have to do is show me one example.
(17:16):
But I've got a pretty clear image in my mind
there's very few times where he was ever actually going
to get to the sideline from his free safety. And
a further point on that is, if Seattle played the
kind of cover three defense that's a three deep zone
where they the corners would do what's called a press
bail and that's where you act like you're gonna go
(17:38):
bump and run, and then right before the snap you
kind of turn and bail out with your back to
the sideline, knees into the field, and then you're on
an outside position. Well, if Seattle corners did that on
a regular basis, then they would be susceptible to inbreaking
routes and they would really need the help of Earl Thomas.
(18:00):
That's not how they played. They played press, and they
funneled to the outside of the sideline, and they tried
to stay in phase, and Richard Sherman basically always was
in phase. The other side was you know, not obviously
not quite a Hall of Fame caliber. But those corners
in that situation that they're they're one on one on
the go route, they're not gonna get help from Earl
(18:22):
Thomas coming over the top. Now, where Earl Thomas is
gonna help is on seam routes to the slot receivers
in the tight ends his ability to roam and cover
ground there or if he was coming up in run
support or a bubble screen or whatever. I mean, he
just come like a meteor out of the middle of
the field and a great shirt tackler, and and so
(18:43):
there's other aspects that to me were Hall of Fame worthy.
But to me, when I hear people say, oh, he's
a sideline to sideline free safety, I just kind of
roll my eyes and I go, that sounds good, But
that doesn't really show. What you know is what the
tape shows.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
Hugh moving to the Dogs a few weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
I mean, you've been vehement in your opinion that Will
Rogers should be the starter. You didn't like how Demon
was coming in and out and breaking the vibe a
little bit. Obviously, we have more information now the Dogs
have qualified for a bowl game. Will has had some
rough outings, demand has shown a little bit. Is your
opinion the same that it should be Will's team the
rest of the year.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
No, My opinion was that if you're gonna play Will Rogers,
that he there's a very important bond that he has
with the team, where if he's going to drive the
football team from his own twenty five yard line down
to the opponent fifteen, and he's making all these connections
(19:43):
with the linemen, with the team spending the summer working
out with him, taking them to concerts with his nil
money really working to be the leader of that team,
and then you yank him out at the ten yard line.
Do I imply there's a selfish nature like he wants
to throw the touchdown pass. That could be a part
of it, but it's also Hey, if will Rogers hands
(20:04):
the ball to Jonah Coleman and Jonah Coleman scores, then
he wants to be the first guy to turn those
linemen in head butt and say, hell of a job.
That drive takes eleven guys. That's a hell of a job.
He wants to be with his guys, and that's undermining
his capacity. And you know by the way Rick Neuheisel
came and then on our airwaves saying the same thing.
(20:25):
So I have not liked that. I think that takes
him out of his rhythm and undermines his confidence. It
gets him looking over his shoulder, It undermines his leadership.
There's a lot of reasons I did not like that.
If you want to play Demon Williams, do it the
way Don James used to do it. On the rare
occasions when guys deserves two guys deserve to play. Give
Demon Williams the first drive of the second quarter and
(20:48):
just say, young man, that's your drive. Then everybody knows.
So I didn't like the method of sharing. Now what
has happened is basically you've done the anti Jim Harbaugh
with Will Rogers. Jim Harbrough was noted. If you saw
the telecast on Sunday Chris Collins with over and over again,
(21:09):
Harbor is just noted to be a guy that hey,
he's gonna pump up his quarterbacks like none of it. Well,
you've got the complete opposite with what has transpired with
Will Rogers, and Will Rogers is broken. And those three
interceptions you have three, not two, because it was a gift
to get a roughing. Just showed to me, showed me
he's the regression that he has had. You know, you
(21:33):
don't know what goes into sashes? Why you know, all
we know is a known phenomenon. Will Rogers has regressed.
How much of what are the causes of that? Well,
I have my own opinions, and I've been implying my
own opinions. But the fact is he just not the
dude anymore. He's he's just he just he's a shell
that that that last interception was like, where where is that?
(21:57):
That we never saw that earlier in the year. So yeah, no,
I think he I think he's done, and I think
that demand Williams would start against Oregon.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
I love it all right, man, good stuff.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Well have you in Wednesday for Dick enjoy Gainesville, all right,
put those blinders on pale all right while you're down there,
and we'll talk on Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
A right, buddy, Thanks man, rock and roll enjoy guys.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
All right here milling with us on the show.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
We're gonna break a lot more to get to on

Speaker 1 (22:31):

including soda pops are fifty percent off between now and
seven o'clock. Right here tonight at these saying it one
cel three three nine oh one. First, we're gonna give
(23:03):
away a trip to the UB Oregon game. Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Courtesy of San Juan Celtz.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
So your party with the founders, which, by the way,
uh might be the best part about that day is
partying with Katie and Kyle. Are you going to run,
by the way, No, Katie and Kyle are gonna head
down there. They're gonna sneak in some san juans and
their pet in their pants pocket into the stadium, which
they're not supposed to do, but they'll do it anyway.
Have some fun down there, all right, some shine, some
bottles to shine, by the way, we'll do that next segment.
(23:29):
Dick at five forty five. I just saw a tweet
from the UDUB women's soccer team. Ask me why I'm
mentioning a tweet from the UDUB women's soccer team.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Oh, they're in the tournament, so.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
What thank you?
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Why am I mentioning a tweet from the UDUB women's
soccer team because they just tweeted out that they are
hanging out with QB number one from the Husky football team.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
With QB one number one, QB one, Okay, and who
exactly have they decided as qbe.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
That's the whole point. That's why I'm bringing it up. Okay,
Will Rogers, Will Rogers, you hear that that again one
more time? They that's the reaction we get when the
show's over. For the most part, people have that kind
of reaction. But Will Rogers is hanging out with the
uw women's soccer team and.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
They say, he's QB one. Do they know something that
we don't know? Dick, what's going on?
Speaker 5 (24:23):
I put zero stock into that point now, having said now,
having said, if they would have said QB one and
it was Demond.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Williams, yeah, then you'd put stock.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
Then I'd put some stock in.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
God, oh, man, I don't know. Maybe they know something.
We don't know.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
What do we think he's gonna do? Jetfish? Because I
think we all know. I mean obviously we know what
we would do. And Andrews, are you with us that
you'd started them on Williams next Saturday?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yes, okay, so we we would start them on demand.
How many heres say demon Damon? Anybody here say will
Nobody said, Oh that's terrible, Well it was.
Speaker 6 (25:02):
It was a rough week for a number seven.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Well what do we think Jed does?
Speaker 5 (25:10):
I think I I think he probably I would go
fifty five forty five demand. Yeah, I think that Will
Rogers is unless you know now he's seeing them all
week a practice, we're not right. And if Will Rogers
looks like he has, you know, reverted back to the
(25:33):
quarterback he was for much of September and October, which
I would call a very capable, you know, fourth fifth
best quarterback in the conference type guy, then awesome. But
he has been over the last couple of weeks closer
to a bottom four or five quarterback in the conference.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
So if you could guarantee that you would get the
same Will Rogers that we saw against Michigan, you would
start Will Rogers.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
And yeah, if I could guarantee that, because then I
could bring I can bring Demanda is a change of pace.
I would certainly put them on the field. At the
same time, I give Oregon looks that we have never
shown before, and hopefully they will do that coming off
the bye week. That's the bonus of having.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
The bye week. So yeah, I would do that.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
I just don't know how much how much is Will's
confidence shaken to a point where we're not gonna get
it back.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Right To answer that question, I only know what I've
heard from people that are closer to him than we are,
and we talk to him almost every Monday. Doesn't happen
every Monday because stuff has gone on that has led
to him not being here. But people that are close
to him will say that his confidence is fully shot.
People that are close to him will say that he's
(26:39):
just a shell of the guy that he was that
started versus Michigan.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
If that's the question.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
If that's the case, then you absolutely cannot roll him
out at Audson Stadium, then yeah, because you'll think you'll
get drilled.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Well, I think the question is where is his confidence
And if his confidence is shot, why is his confidence shot?
And how much of that Jedfish's fault, if any of
it is Jetfish's fault for the confidence situation that Will
Rogers is in. I mean, what I saw Friday night
Dick against UCLA a week ago, and you saw the
same thing I did, was a guy that looks nothing
(27:14):
like the dude that we saw earlier in the year,
like not even close, right, and we're talking I just
forget who it was. We were talking about the year and
I said it was new heisl How could a guy
who is the second all time leading passer in the
history of the sec have a three drive sequence like
that against UCLA where he looks like he's never played
football before, and he's.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
He's completely fallen off a cliff.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
So whether it's his fault, whether it's Jedfish's fault, whether
it's just him not being able to handle the situation
that Jedfish wanted to present him in, which is rotating
him with the mon Williams. I have no idea if
Jedfish knew, or excuse me, Will Rogers knew when the
year began that that was going to be the plan.
But yeah, I mean we can talk about reasons why,
or who we blame or who we don't blame, but
(27:55):
I absolutely think.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
His confidence has has taken a dip, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (28:00):
Well, if you want to give some blame, if you
want to call it that to Jed Fish, I think
that's fair. But Jedfish, it's not like he has put
Demond Williams in for multiple series a game and really
made a question as to who the starting quarterback was.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
There's never been a question up until this moment.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
There's never been a question that Will Rogers was indeed
QB one, just like the UB soccer team just it
just texted you R tweeted out yes, that he's bringing
QB one and Demond was a change of pace guy
that he brought in in change of pace situations and
I have had no issues with it the entire season.
I still don't because do you really leave that talent
(28:45):
on the bench. Do you really leave the most elusive
offensive weapon you have on the bench all season long
because you're so devoted to QB one?
Speaker 6 (28:54):
No, I don't think you do well.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I think, but again, that's fine, but you could potentially
find yourself in a position like this, like you're in now,
where you've got a guy that has totally lost his
confidence and you don't have any choice, and I think
it's the right choice, but to go to number two
and to go to an eighteen year old kid at
Austin Stadium. So I mean, I don't know if it's
a perfect scenario. I think, again, for me this year
(29:18):
and I think also for Jetfish because he's almost implied it.
This year was about laying a foundation that they could
really start to take advantage of next season in twenty
twenty five, and I think Jetfish is doing that. I
think you're going to go into next year with a
lot more answers than questions. We had a lot more
questions than answers this year. Those questions will become answers
(29:39):
over the offseason, and there will be way more answers
than questions heading into twenty twenty five. But whether it's
right or wrong, I mean, look, in the end, it's
all about the program. And if it means potentially sacrificing
somebody's confidence to put yourself in a better position down
the road to have success, then I fine, I guess.
I mean there's gonna be victims here, and Will Rogers
(30:00):
is this potentially kind of a victim here in some
ways of this.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
Let me ask you this, would the Husky record be
any different had Demond Williams not played a snap?
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Possibly?
Speaker 6 (30:10):
Yes, yes, you think they.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
I think there's a chance that Will Rodgers plays better
football if he knows he's the guy every single day,
every single snap he's not getting pulled out of the
twenty yard line. I mean, you just asked me a
few minutes ago, Dick, if I thought that Will rogers
confidence has maybe taken a hit, yea, And I think
it has taken a hit. I think if we saw
him play last Friday and you saw the same game
(30:33):
I did. I think that's a guy that looks a
little broken as a quarterback right now. I mean some
of those throws he was making were like, what where
did that come from? So you're asking me, would the
Husky record be any different if Demon Williams never took
a snap and Jed Fish went to Will Rodgers and said,
it's your show. You're taking every snap when you get
to the red zone, it's your's it's it's your ball.
(30:54):
We're not gonna rotate. This is your deal. I'm gonna
get behind you, I'm gonna pump you up, I'm gonna
promote you as a leader. I'm gonna have your back
every single day. I mean Jetfish. Look, I think Jetfish
has done some good things. I also think Jetfish, by
the way, Dick, we have to admit that Jetfish has
some in some ways a little bit of an unconventional
way about doing stuff, at least compared to what we're
used to. You know, he did go out of his
(31:15):
way earlier this year to mention you know, there's throws
we didn't make, and there's throws we'd like to have back.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
And instead of putting it on him.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Remember earlier in the year when he was blaming the
players and yeah, not himself, and we had that big
controversy or a little bit of a controversy. So to
answer your question, would they be potentially have more wins
if Will Rogers was the guy all year long and
they pumped up his confidence like a hot air balloon.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
It's possible. Yes, it's possible.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
Well, the only games we could really talk about is
Rutgers and Wazoo, right, I mean, I don't think there's
any other game no matter how good Will Rogers plays,
that they're winning, right.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
I just don't know where he was at confidence wise
against Penn State in the first half Iowa, I would
generally agree. Yeah, I mean, if we're if we're kind
of just saying in general terms, would they have eat
and Penn State?
Speaker 5 (32:00):
No?
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Where they've probably beaten Indiana, No, Iowa.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
They were kind of in the game, right, and then
things just kind of fell apart.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
You know?
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Was it the Iowa game where they were going forward
on fourth down, deep inside their own territory a ton
and just turning over points like they were candy on Halloween.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
So look, dude, we'll never know.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
But I just know one thing the future I think
we can agree is bright with number two, and I'm
looking forward.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
To seeing them play well.
Speaker 6 (32:25):
Kevin, let me ask you the reverse question.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
Yeah, if if Demon Williams doesn't come in on Friday, right,
do they win that.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Game against at that point if they've been through Yeah, yes, yes,
that they don't. Yes, absolutely, If everything is equal and
you have a quarterback who's mentally drained at that point,
if they don't go to number two, then yeah, there's
a chance on that night, giving that context, you're exactly
right that they lose to UCLA.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
All right, five point forty two.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
When we come back, we're gonna give away a trip
to the uw Organ game courtesy of our friends at
San Juan Seltzer, the founders San Juan Seltzer. They got
kind of a weird ownership structure here.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
At this place.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
The owners are sleeping with each other here at Salem
and Seltzer. And we're gonna get him on next on
ninety three three KJRFM.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Now back to the Washington State Beat Commissions Football Friday
with Sofie and Dick on your home for the NFL
Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

ninety three three kjr FM.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Wow, that's the biggest audience I've ever had for this show.
Steven Seuss is gonna join us in a few minut
six o'clock and talk about why cal Riley dump Scott
Boris but joining us right now. We've been doing the
show from the sand one seltzerri all day long, three
nine oh one, First Avenue South here and Soto stopping by.
All drinks are fifty percent off between now and seven o'clock.
(33:55):
The founder and her husband call you that pretty much
what you are?
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Right?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
I work for my wife, you know what? Who wouldn't
want to work for her? All right?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
The founder Katie Anger, Kyle langlet's here for the Angers
here from Sam jan Seltzer.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
How are you guys. That's good to see you man,
good to see you.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
So I I got to ask you because we we've
talked before about this, but maybe it's been a long time.
How did you get into this business? How did this happen?
How did you end up having your name on these cans?
Having a place like this, a seltree like this, and
a product like this.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Ro Lloyd there you go.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
You should put him on.
Speaker 7 (34:34):
Yeah yeah, well, I mean I had I have four kids,
and I was a school teacher. Doesn't that make you great?
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Absolutely makes you crazy?
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Right?
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Is that true? By the way, it's really what grade
were you teaching?
Speaker 6 (34:45):
Second grade?
Speaker 3 (34:46):
For you?
Speaker 6 (34:46):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I had no idea.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
Explain a lot.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
It does explain a lot.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
So yeah, so you decided enough of this, I want
to get into the seltree business.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (34:58):
And then I brought Huckleberry vodka to this on One
Islands with my girlfriends and here we are.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
Ron thought I was crazy for the first two and
a half weeks. Then he kind of said, let's go
for it.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Did this blow up into something, Kyle, bigger than you
thought it would be.
Speaker 8 (35:14):
It's unbelievable. I mean, to be in six states now,
really be in the Northwest and be the local Seltzer
and really be only behind Wyklawn, truly, it's it's just
it's unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I was told to never say those words ever, but
oh yeah, okay, so you can say it, but I can't. Right,
don't ever say that again. I gotta tell you though,
I think, and you know what a big.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Fan I am of what you guys do.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
When I lost, you know, seventy pounds nine years ago
with thirty ten, I actually turned to this stuff to
be honest with you, and it's fantastic. But these hard lemonades,
I think, I hope you don't take this as an insult.
Are the best things you've ever done. Honestly. What's the
story behind these new hard lemonades?
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Well, I shouldn't.
Speaker 8 (35:54):
I shouldn't tell you.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
About why not.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
It's just us, just us.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Just us. We're good.
Speaker 8 (35:59):
We Uh we actually had a one of the buyers
come to us and say, you've got to do this,
and you know, we we were like, okay, because we
were going a different direction, right and the San Juan
model is really zero sugars or carbs. It's you know,
these you know, unique different flavors and this was a
(36:19):
total departure, and uh, but we kind of looked at
each other in the eye and said, Okay, we ready
to do this. And I'm glad we did because it
has been just unbelievable.
Speaker 7 (36:31):
Yeah, we had to pivot a little bit. I mean,
this is what everyone's drinking.
Speaker 8 (36:34):
The Yeah, the consumer's taste profile has changed a lot,
so you know, we're changing with it and we continue
to grow.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Well, I was told that I'm supposed to mix all
this with Tito's going with now you go to the Shyeah,
the shine is really good, but I think I think
this on its own is.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Actually really good.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
To be totally honestly with that might be a little scary,
but you can find these in your local grocery stores.
They are awesome, and we've been qualifying people all your
on for a trip to the UB Oregon game. We're
gonna pick, We're gonna pickft.
Speaker 8 (37:07):

of fun because we started this back in August, right,
and you know, I heart uh you know, media has
really been a great partner in this whole thing. So
I wanted to thank you guys.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Welcome doing this because you're flying someone down next week.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
That's right, Hotel, Well, that's the thing. You know, they
don't really have to hang out with you and vice versa.
Speaker 8 (37:28):
But I know we've got Huckleberry Seltzer in the stadium
perfect down there, perfect, and you'll be bringing some product
with you for the pre game too as well.
Speaker 2 (37:36):

The dogs usual we're dog fans right there, how about
we skipped the game. We're just hanging the parking lot
all day long. I might actually what's about to happen
in the stadium next Saturday, Softie?
Speaker 8 (37:48):
Our kids are fifth generation Husky are we lead?
Speaker 3 (37:53):

So we're actually idea?
Speaker 8 (37:57):

Speaker 7 (38:29):

Speaker 4 (38:31):
Yep?
Speaker 6 (38:32):
We got a Nicole Martin.
Speaker 2 (38:34):

the Angers.
Speaker 3 (38:39):

Speaker 8 (38:49):
