Speaker 1 (00:00):
Where we go.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
We got a lot to go over.

Speaker 3 (00:03):
We got the Husky Hawks coming up at four o'clock today.
We got John Wilner joining us, we got hum Millin
joining us in the six pm hour, We're doing fun
with Audio five forty five tonight. Is I rede a
gay good? That means we have the entire hour to
break down every aspect of the Seahawk loss last night
to the Detroit Lions forty two to twenty nine. Right,

(00:25):
And I said this last night on X and I
feel like it even more today. It's not very often
where I feel better about my football team after a loss,
but that's exactly the way I feel right now, falling
behind twenty one to seven, finding a way in the
second half to make it a one possession game, hanging
in there with a completely depleted defense, turning Geno Smith

(00:50):
maybe in everybody's eyes now, into a top ten quarterback
in the National Football League. Troy Yeikman and Joe Budd
drooling over our football team and the person they showed yesterday.
Do we all share the same kind of emotion right now?
And we said this in the in the pregame yesterday.
We can go back to our three o'clock segment yesterday

(01:11):
that I don't want to hear anybody bitch it if
the Seahawks win that game, and you even said I
believe on the air.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Hell, I don't want to hear bitching.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
If it's a close game, right, And I don't know
if we say in the end a thirteen point loss
was a close game, it's all.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
About felt like four.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's all about the way it went, for getting crying
out loud, all that stuff in context. I mean, you
just think about this. The Seahawks last night were down
thirty five to twenty seven early fourth quarter with a
chance to tie the game, and they have a fourth
and three from the Lion thirty nine yard line. And
if you had Tyler Lockett getting called for an offensive

(01:48):
PI on your Seahawks penalty Bingo card before the.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Game, you would have won a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Because I'm not sure if I've ever seen Tyler Lockett
get called for an offense of pass interference. And I
gotta be honest with you, I know, and I could
go back and watch a bunch of football, but I
think it's better if we just take each other's word
for it. To be honest with you and save us
all a bunch of time. I know that we could
go back and watch a buttload of NFL football and

(02:15):
a buttload dick of Seahawk football and see that exact
same play with Tyler Lockett and have it not be
called offensive pass interference. I mean, look, I don't want
to blame the referees for that. I think it's chicken
crap when fans do that. There were a couple of
plays the Hawks got hosed on the two point conversion
to DK Metcalf.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
No PI against DK Metcalf, and the end.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Of defensive PI when he's getting mugged by a cornerback
and the end zone the ball should have been at
the one yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
But that's football, right.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I mean, you're gonna get three or four calls a
game that don't go your way, and you're gonna get
three or four calls a game that do go your way. Traditionally,
I think all of us agree this stuff gets evened out.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And I was wrong about the defense.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
I thought the scheme itself and I thought the coverage
ability of the Seahawks secondary would be enough to kind
of slow down that Lion offense, and that clearly did
not happen last night. But I'm walking out of the
Emerald Queen Casino last night thinking, all right, the Giants
are dead. They're gonna get killed on Sunday in Seattle,
and the crowd for the Niner game next Thursday is

(03:21):
gonna be bunkers. I'm looking at five and one right
in the Kisser and feeling very confident after the way
they play it, and I.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Think you have a better chance of beating the Giants
now than if you would have found a way to
win that football game. And I had it in my
notes at the Embal Queen yesterday, I said, I love
the Hawk if the Hawks lose, I love the minus
six and the Hawks if the Hawks win, I love
the Giants at plus six because that was a perfect
letdown spot. There will be no letting down for the
Seahawks team on Sunday. They will want to dispatch of

(03:51):
the Giants. They're going to be able to dispatch of
the Giants. And I totally agree with you. I feel
I feel better about my two football teams after what
I just saw him put up. What did we both
tweet out like eleven hours apart, thousand and thirty seven
total yards by the Seahawks and the Huskies in losing efforts.

(04:11):
Those equal great bounce back spots the next game, because
you got a hungry, pissed off Dog team and a hungry,
pissed off Seahawks team. But yeah, I think the Seahawks
were admirable in that game. And I have the same
feeling coming out of that game that I did when
we beat Oregon last year. I said, you know what,
that is a game one game six game, our Week

(04:33):
six game, the Week six game. That is game one
of two.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, that is.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Game one of two between these two teams. I feel
very confident that these two teams are going to meet
each other in January in some round.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Well, I mean, a lot has to happen to get
a matched up I get it. But these are two
of the top five teams in the absolutely right and
with the way the NFC is as wide open as
it is, there's no reason why a team in the
top five cannot make a run to the Super Bowl.
I mean, if Christian McCaffrey is going to be out
a significant amount of time, that's a huge blow for them.
The Eagles are obviously terrible. The Cowboys haven't found their stride.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yet.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I think the Vikings are a bit of a paper tiger.
But who wouldn't be at four to oh, for God's sakes,
with Sam Darnold as you're starting quarterback, I think that
I think that Pumpkin shows up at some point. But look,
they they may just hang around long enough to make
a run, you know. And if there's ever a run
for the you know, a team like Minnesota with a
backup quarterback taken over a veteran guy who just doesn't

(05:30):
make a lot of mistakes. It's it's this year, guys.
This conference is wide open. It kind of reminds me
of the AFC in two thousand and five when Pittsburgh
won the whole thing as a sixth seed, when they
beat the Seahawks as a wild card in Detroit. This
is the year for someone to maybe do that. The
Chiefs look like they may not be as good. The
Bills look like they're taking a step back. This league

(05:51):
is crazy. I mean every single week, these scores are
just upside down bass ackwards. It's nuts what the NFL
is all over. You see what six or more to
point dogs are this year? Twelve to one and one
against the spread.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, if in factor fiction we just went with six
point dogs or more, we'd like never lose.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
And I think the one team that didn't cover at
the Dolphins, by the way, in Week three against the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
But here's the deal.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So we're going back and forth last night and Jackson,
you really never entered the chat yesterday.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, I mean he purposely stayed out, and he was
probably a smart man.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
I was a funny.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
I was driving a lot of the time, and I'm
just scanning my phone as I'm at red lights, just
watching you two go back and forth going. I am
thankful that I'm on the road right now.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
So maybe you're just saving your best stuff for the
radio show, which I appreciate that. By the way, Why
should you blow your best stuff on a text thread
that nobody sees when you can save it for the
radio show. So we've got six o'clock at night. Was
that mid second quarter? You think early second, early first
or early second.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Early first, or excuse me, early second or or late first.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Actually I'm sorry, the text thread began at five fifty four.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
That's late first.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Can I just read this as is? Please?

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Do are you gonna sleep out when you swore me
like four times.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
You need how about you swear you You began their
profanity train, you started the whole thing to are you
kidding me? We go okay, First of all, this this
begins at five forty three. So did I say on
the air or did you say on the air the
Seahawks would give up thirty one points?

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yesterday? I said, said thirty one. So Dick.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Dick texts the group at five forty three, thirty one,
we may give up fifty one, and they gave up
forty one, to which I wrote forty two, to which
I wrote, Uugh, Dick Fane absolutely horse crap, only you
didn't say crap. Game plan by Ryan Grubb throw it
one billion times and run it twice for zero points.

(07:44):
I chime in, why they're moving the ball, Dick, Not
his fault. DK can't hang on to it. Dick responds,
you never win when you throw fifty times ever, but hey,
at least they'll win my geno two fifty yards or.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Better bets, which I did easy to respond in.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
To play calling is not the problem, and Dick responds,
it's one of the problems. The other problem is my
favorite player, DK Metcalf fumbling. I respond to that, Dick,
they have one hundred and twenty five yards of offense.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
What the f are you talking about. They can't stop
the pass at all.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Let them prove they can stop it first and then
start running, Dick, Husky's had five to twenty.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
We need eight minute drives to help this defense.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Me.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
You think they lost the game because they threw the
ball too much. You're high, Dick responds, but we're getting
the shootout, Jackson, and I expected. Just wait and we'll
take a look at time of possession and the final
score at the end of the game. I'm happy to
be wrong, which, by the way, you were wrong because
the Seahawks won the time of possession life.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Because they ran the ball of the second half. They
lost it the halftime. Okay, but hang on a second,
I jump in. You're acting like grub is going to
throw the ball the entire game. Jesus Christ, let the
game play out.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
You're bitching exactly about what you bitch about people doing
all the time, and making assumptions based on what you
see in the first quarter. Why don't you have some
effing balls and tweet that crap? Say crap for people
to see, Dick writes back. I tweeted, we need to
run the ball more. What do you mean you tweet
everything you text me and Jackson chill out dude too,

(09:12):
which I respond, I tweet a lot. Yes, they're destroying
Detroit's secondary through the air, just like Aikman said, They're
gonna continue doing it until they prove they can stop it.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Dick.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
My point is we have to be balanced if we
want to win this game, especially with our defensive injuries.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
I can't think of the last time.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
The Hawks won a game where all they did was throw,
and I can think of a ton of times where
we lost games where we let Russ cook me. It's
an odd thing to bitch about, especially when they're in
the middle of destroying them through the air. It might
be moot now if you fall behind twenty one, I mean,
there's a little more there, but you get the points.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Oh man, it was one of our best.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
So I'm literally hearing from him during the game that
Ryan Grubb is calling a horse crap game. When the
Seahawks are slicing up the Lions secondary points they have
they had seven because dk Mtcalff fumbled the ball if
dk Metcalf doesn't fumble the ball, they're done seven.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
We don't know they score a touchdown on them. Okay,
did you like what you were seeing it? Okay, then
let's just assume that we'd like what we saw. They're
going to They were on their way to the end zone.
They're at the thirty four yard line. They're crushing the
Lion defense. I think they're going in to tie the game.
If anything, maybe a field goal. Maybe it's a seven
to three game, maybe it's a seven to seven game.

(10:20):
I would have felt pretty good first and ten from
the line thirty four with the way they were moving
the ball. Instead, they get a scoop and return, not score,
but essentially a soup scooping score, and they scored very
quickly forty yards.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
It was a long ass return. And they're down four
to nothing, or give me fourteen nothing instead the next drive,
you're down fourteen, you would think, okay, maybe we start
throwing the ball even more.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
We're down fourteen. Don't want to get into a hole.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You know what they did. They go on a five
minute touchdown drive. Ten plays, six passes, four runs, and
they go down fourteen to seven. And then guess what
the defense does. They give up another touchdown. Three of
the four touchdown the Seahawks scored last night, the Lions
answered right away. So look, I don't give a damn
how Ryan Grubb calls a game as long as they're

(11:09):
moving the ball. And I'm not going to allow a
DK Metcalf fumble to tell me, well, DK fumble the ball,
so let's stop throwing it.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Well, we're killing them.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
They had one hundred and seventy seventy yards DICK at halftime,
and they won the time of possession battle.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, they were getting killed at half time in the
time possession battle. And I'm not talking about the second
half because the second half Ryan Grubb did exactly what
I wanted him to do in the first half. Here's
his first three drives of the second half. Ten plays
seventy five yards touchdown where ken Walker had three runs
and a catch for thirteen yards. Eight plays eighty yards touchdown.
Ken Walker had three runs for twenty three yards, seven
plays seventy yards. Ken Walker had two runs for forty

(11:45):
four yards and a catch for seven That's the type
of football, right that I wanted to see played and maybe,
just maybe they would have had more than seven points
at halftime had they done that. But that was my
entire point.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
But Dick, they had a fumble from DK Metcalf at
the thirty four that cost him.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Three and maybe seven points lost, still three, and it
was a ten point Talking about how I'm talking about
how many points they would have scored.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
It was a ten point swing.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Okay, I understand that. I'm talking about how many points
do they have at halftime? If DK does not fumble,
they have either ten or fourteen. Still not a tremendous
offensive output when you've given up twenty one at half.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
I don't understand what you're talking about. It was a
ten point swing. It was a seven to nothing game.
DK Metcalf fumbles the ball, the Lion's got a long return.
You said it yourself. It was essentially your scooping score,
which I would agree with. Where did Detroit have the
ball after that fourteen? It was to inside the red zone, right,
so that was a free touchdown. You blame DK Metcalf
for that all the way. It was a ridiculous play

(12:44):
by DK.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Can't do it.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Nobody would disagree, Well, nobody would disagree on that. But
if they get the field goal and it's seven to
three and the Lions have to move the length of
the field at least they earn it, for God's sakes.
I mean, it goes from either a seven to seven
game or a seven to three game to a fourteen
nothing game. So why on Earth as an offensive coordinator

(13:06):
would you look at a fumble by DK Metcalf and
blow the whole thing up when everything you were doing
was working and they tried to run the ball in
the second half. I mean Kenny Walker in the second
half when eight carries for seventy four yards and it
almost won the free was beautiful, right, But there.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Was the plan.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
I loved everything.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
I don't understand what you're complaining about.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Sounds like what you're seeing is the plan was to
be totally one dimensional and get down by two scores
in order for us to be multi ball on the
second half and play better.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
No, no, no, no, no, you know what. I'm going
to send you an email. Do you have a private
email or do you just have your work email? You
have a Gmail, I'm going to send you one with
a hearing clinic, all right, so you can get your
hearing check. Who the hell said the plane was to
be down fourteen nothing and fumble the ball. I July
said that the plan was to take advantage of the

(13:59):
app absolute weakness on the Lion defense, which was their
secondary and it was working and they were carving it up,
and I had no problem with it. They had one
hundred and seventy seven yards of offense at halftime, one
hundred and seventy seven, and then when it became obvious
that they were ready to run the ball, they unleashed
Kenny Walker and they almost.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Won the damn game. Guys.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
I mean, if we're going to be sitting here bitching
about the offense after the job that they did last night,
I think we're parking up the wrong tree.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Well, Dave, you understand I was bitching at the offense.
The entire bitch was the first half when we had
seven points four total touches by arguably a top three
or four running back in the entire NFL. I believe
it's five, but whatever it is, okay, fine, four touches.

(14:49):
So not only like you had no idea, you don't
even know if you can run the ball when you
run it that few times. Now if you run it nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
times and get ten yards. Okay, you can't run the ball.
They didn't even attempt to see if they could run
the ball in the first half. Do you know why,
because they just assumed they couldn't.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Do you know why?

Speaker 5 (15:10):
What?

Speaker 3 (15:10):
They didn't need to because they were torching the Lions
secondary with Gino Smith's arm.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
But they had seven points. They had seven points. Okay.
Do we play the game to score? Do we play
the game to get yards? Because there's the Husky's got
a lot of empty yards on Friday too.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Okay, And you think that if they would have run
the ball, they would have moved it just like they
did through the air in the first half, and there
would have been no fumbles and they wouldn't have had
any of the problems they had on the DK Metcalf.
The problem was not the play calling in the first half.
The problem was the execution, namely dk Metcalf turning over

(15:46):
the ball and giving the Lions a short field on
a brutal return by them. It was a fluke play.
It was a crazy return by Detroit. But there is
no part of me. If Ryan Grubb is sitting in
the press box and he's watching this Lion defense get
horn to bits by Gino Smith. There is no part
of me that wants him to go away from that.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Okay, well no part, all right, then don't I would
wonder why? And I did wonder why then when I
was driving at halftime to pick my wife up from
the airport. Okay, they're saying on halftime, but they need
some balance on offense. I get back home to see
Troy Aikman's last words before they kick off in the
third quarter. The Hawks have got to get to the
run game going, and they did.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
But did?

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Why are why are they saying that? And you're making
fun of me for saying the exact same thing as
the quote unquote experts calling the game.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
I don't understand what this making fun is. We're not
in preschool, you're not four years old. I'm not calling
you names, all right, I'm not going to I'm not
making funny.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Okay, So disagree, We're I'm saying the same thing that
Troy Aikman said at half time.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
So why don't we just why don't you just tell
me what Troy Aikman said at halftime and I'll just
repeat that. I mean, you really you kind of sound
like the guy that I went on in Chicago when
I was bitching about Shane Waldron and he's getting mad
at me because I'm trashing Waldron. And I told the guy, said, hey, look,
why don't you have me on and just tell me
what you want me to say? And I'll say that
you think I really want to base my opinions on

(17:08):
what other people think. I mean, Dick, you've never done that.
Jackson never does that, and I'll never do that. I'm
giving you my opinion, not Troy Yekman's opinion. You want
to play that game. Mike Combrin agrees with me. You
don't hear me dropping that on you. Who gives a damn?

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I got one mouth. It's my mouth. I'm speaking for
my brain, not somebody else's.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
I think the game plan was solid because it was
working and they were moving the ball. They just could
not execute when they had to on that unfortunate turnover
by DK Metcalf.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
I mean again, look, this is a Seahawk football team.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
That last night went out and Hugh talked about this
today on the morning show, and I don't want to
steal his thunder or his stats. Went out last night
and scored twenty nine points, put up five hundred and
sixteen yards of offense, thirty eight first downs. All of
those numbers would have led the NFL last season, And
we have spent twenty minutes complaining and bitching about the

(18:01):
offense when the defense could not get off the damn field.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
I think the offensive coordinator could have helped the defense
get off the field by holding the ball longer in
the first half.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
That was the time of possession when we were down
by six minutes. Well, what are you.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Sure about that? Because they won the time of possession
battle by they dominated by nine minutes. They dominated in
a second.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
You think they won the.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Time of possession by fifteen minutes in the second half,
because if they were down six, that's a fifteen minute swing.
Usually I take a screen shot by the way of
the halftime bock scoring for you know what the problem?
You know, you know my problem is? It cut it
off right at the bottom. It cut it off. I'd
love to know the halftime Look top, Uh, we're getna
break more on this four nine, four or five one.
You guys can weigh in here on this thing. Biggest

(18:43):
reason why the Seahawks lost the game last night, you'd
tell us next on ninety three to three KJRFM Live from.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
The R and R Foundation Specialists Broadcast Studio. Now back
to Softie and Dick on your Home for the Huskies
and the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ
r FM.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
All right back here on a busy Tuesday. The fireworks
are already going off in the studio, which is a
great time to let the the calm one, the logical
one of the group. Do we have one of those?
I don't know where's Greg Lewis? Got him in here?
Where's Bailey? Seahawks lose forty nine last night? A couple

(19:30):
of plays we can go over. There's a lot of
movement or a lot of moments in the game. DK
not getting the PI in the end zone, the two
point conversion, which I thought his shin was down. I
thought he had the two point conversion. And did I
hear Hugh say this morning that that's not reviewable because
it's not a scoring play? Like, what are you talking
about it? Of course it's a scoring point version. Is

(19:50):
that accurate?

Speaker 4 (19:51):
By the way, or you actually wrote about this last night?
It should have been reviewed and it wasn't. They screwed up.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, that's ridiculous, right, It's absolutely asinine for the only
game at that time that was going on, because the
other game was already over right, for that to not
get looked at the PI unlockett, the game that grub had,
the game that McDonald had, the game that Gino Smith had.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Well, why are you going for two situation? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (20:15):
I didn't like it. Didn't like it. Thought it was
too early.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
It was a very damn Campbell move.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Well, I mean Hugh laid it out this morning from
a numbers perspective about why it did make sense mathematically.
I just think for me, and it's just a preference really,
when it's all said and done, right, it's a preference
about not chasing points that early in the game. It
just didn't feel like the vibe was right at that
time of the game to go for something like that.

(20:39):
But there's a debate going on between me and Dick
about did the Seahawks establish the run early enough in
the game.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Weigh in on that, Jackson go ahead.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
So just again to go over the exact argument you're making, Dick.
You're saying that the Seahawks did not run the ball
enough in the first half.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Correct, I have no issues at all what they're playing
calling in a second.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Half, right, I disagree with that.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
I just I think that again, the way the offense
was functioning, it would have been a potentially fourteen to
fourteen game. It could have been a twenty one to
fourteen game entering halftime, and based on how Detroit was
playing at that point. I mean, yes, you can see
the idea of you want to run him into the
ground and just keep trying, trying and trying, run at
Aiden Hutchinson over and over and try to eat up

(21:21):
the clocks of their offense stays off the field. But
we did see over the course of sixty minutes their
offense doesn't need time. They can go on one play,
especially against the depleted Seahawks defense. Right, So my element
is running game to eat up time. Is that's an
a logical point. The point that needs to be made
is the fact that passing wise, Gino Smith was killing

(21:42):
it yards wise. I mean, he had a great game
against their secondary, so let Gino cook and let him throw.
I don't think they didn't run the ball on enough
in the first I just think what we saw was
Kenneth Walker eventually start to get yards against a tired
out Detroit defense. So when you look at it, yeah,
the second half not running numbers were better. But I
think overall this is just an idea. Maybe I'm wrong

(22:04):
on this. I think second half rushing numbers in general
are going to be better than first half rushing numbers
against tire defenses. That would be why I think the
White Walker winners. There's nothing that excites me more. And
I honestly actually mean this, There's nothing that incites me more.
And I can, I can, I can guarantee you what

(22:25):
you were doing when Dylan Johnson and Ryan Grubb were
running the ball down Oregon's throats in the Vegas game
in the.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Fourth quarter, well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
I'm blame it.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
I was in the press box and I was naked. Okay,
That's why I have Nubben banned from that stadium. I
was doing the same thing at USC with you guys.
When when you have a defense that is exhausted, when
you have an offensive line that is superior, uh physically
when it comes to physical fitness, and you have a
guy like Nate Caleppo and now I'm making a washing

(22:58):
reference now, but first and twenty and Ryan Grubb gave
the ball to Dylan Johnson three times and he picked
up everything by himself. That it like brings tears to
my eyes thinking about that. I think that's what they
wanted to try and do with the Lions defense last night.
And when they're playing man coverage and Gino Smith is
looking like Joe Stink in Montana?

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Why would anybody want to go away from that?

Speaker 3 (23:21):
And the time of possession was I mean, the Lions
of the ball for two and a half minutes longer
than we did at halftime. It wasn't that significant. We'll
visit this again. Let's get to factor fiction right now.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
We're set to go. Glad you're with us.

Speaker 6 (23:32):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand prize. It's Factor Fiction, brought to

Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
All right, what do we got.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Jackson's got the day off tomorrow, right, so tomorrow's typically
Jackson Day, or we do a little flip flopper out here, flip.
So it's day two. It's Jackson Day tomorrow with Dick
Day Jackson, what.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Do you got.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Well, let's continue talking Seahawks because I think we talked
about in the first segment. I think that they come
home to face the Giants, and I think they absolutely
murder New York. I think it is an absolute ass
kicking of which we have not seen in a while.
I think this is like a twenty four point Seahawk win.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Wow, they just.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Funny enough, we're gonna have. I think they Kenneth Walker
runs them into the ground. I think Gino Smith doesn't
have to throw fifty plus times and the Seahawks win
this game something like thirty five to ten in that regard,
So the line is only six so very easily.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
I'm shocked.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
No other show has taken this yet today Seahawks minus
six lock it in.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Did not like it. If the Seahawks would have won,
I do like it. Because the Seahawks lost, I will
like it even more. The number of defensive starters we
get back this week will make me like it even more.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
We know who's back, by the way, we don't.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Know yet, No, we don't know yet about Daniel Jones.
But I'll say this like I'm gonna use a baseball analogy.
It's like the Mariners go through a three game series
against the Yankees, and that's the Detroit Lions, and then
they get a three game series against the White Sox.
That's what you're facing in Daniel Jones, and that Detroit, who,
by the way, might not have Elaite neighbors. He is

(25:23):
still in concussion protocol. If they don't have Molak neighbors,
they might not score ten points. That's interesting. I'm looking
at the Giant defense. They're actually not terrible. No, they're
a pretty good front. Yeah, they got a good front seven,
but their secondary ish.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
I do like it. I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
I don't know if they win by thirty the way
you're talking about, but I do like the spread.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I do like the win. I think the Hawks will cover.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
I'm just imagining the Seahawks offense picking up where they
left off against Detroit, and the defense getting healthy, and
then everyone just losing their mind over this football team,
and then the atmosphere for that Thursday night game. The
one thing that would potentially come into play is that
the Giants have a massively long week because they played Thursday,

(26:14):
and the Hawks are on the short week because they
played Monday, so they have the extra three days to
get ready. I mean they are flying out here.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
To the field goal.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah, yeah, right, nothing. So it's what's the line again?

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Jackson six six, Hawks minus six against the g Man.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
You like, in fact you hate it?

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Fiction to four, nine, four to five one ill Brought
to you by the Emerald Queen Cat Your picks in now,
Husky Hawks at four.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
More on last night's lost by the Hawks.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Next on ninety three three KJRFM Live from the R
and R Foundation Specialists Broadcast Studio.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
Now back to Softie and Dick Gone your home for
the Huskies and the Creken Sports Radio ninety three point
three kjr FM.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
I mean we're forced to chuck it around in the
second half, and I thought it was poised. I mean,
there's a loud environment, blinds fans did a great job,
but operation wise, I thought we were clean. I thought
he was poised. I thought he was accurate. I thought
he played a heck of a game. I don't know
what the stats are, but I thought he played really well.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
You talk about Jared Goff, I assume is that right?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Smith.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
Do you know?

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Okay, gotcha?

Speaker 3 (27:16):
You see where Dan Campbell had no idea that Jared
Goff was eighteen for eighteen and gave the game ball
to somebody else.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
God, that's funny.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Well, I'll tell you what, man, A lot of this
is going to be easily corrected. Number One, guys will
get healthy on the defensive side of the ball. And
if you got a problem with the play calling the
way Dick does, that can be corrected as well. I
have no problem with the play calling from last night's game,
but you want to volley get a final thought on
that conversation before we move on to something else.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
I just think it's it's important for every team to
be balanced. I don't care if we were talking about
high school pro college. I think it's important that you
are not one dimensional, particularly on the road facing Aiden
Hutchinson and a pass rush and a crowd like that,
and particularly when you have a defense that is just
completely depleted and needs to be off the field as

(28:10):
much as possible. So this wasn't necessarily just a one
game thing. This is just a philosophical game that I
don't care if I'm watching a Husky game. My kids
high school team play the Seahawks play if I just
see you chucking it around the yard every single play.
And Gino Smith, by the way, tied for his worst
passer rating of the season last night because it was

(28:31):
it was you know, not great yards per attempt, it
was one touchdown, one interception. It was just a lot
of empty yards.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Wow now wow.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Having said that, having said that, he made three or
four remarkable plays that only four or five players in
the NFL may So I'm I don't, in no way,
shape or form do I think Gino had a bad game. Interesting,
But I mean, if you look beyond just the three
hundred and ninety five yards, there's not a lot of

(29:00):
meat on the bone.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Well that's interesting because you just hit me with the
Listen to what Troy Aikman said in the first segment
of the radio show, and we live in a world
where I gotta be honest with you with with that take,
and hey, own it, that's your take, stay with it whatever.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
I think. You're on Dick Island with that one.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Because people are drooling over the way Gino Smith played
last night, not just in the box score, but his
presence in the pocket, the way he stepped up in
the face of pressure. His toughness, his physicality, his accuracy,
all that stuff, and he does.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
It always against the true I mean, that was an
average game for him against the Lions.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
I don't know what to tell you. I mean he
played great last year? Did I think Gino Smith was unbelievable?
And again against the Lions? The Lions defense is much
better than it was last year?

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Yes, secondary, I mean this year than it was last year.
I didn't think that. I thought we passed against them
because their secondary was so horrible. So is it is
there secondary horrible this year or is it better than at.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
The secondary's worse than their front seven.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
You also just said that Gino Smith had a lot
of empty yards, but he played great.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
I mean, I'm just like, which one is it?

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Like?

Speaker 3 (30:09):
I'm confused here as to what we're talking about. Don't
you people feel generally really good about the way Gino
played last night?

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Yes, but it's whatever your feelings of Geno Smith and
the amount of money you want to pay Geno Smith
at the end of the year. I don't believe should
have been impacted with what he did yesterday.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
I think I think it's positively impacted.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
I think one of my topics I was going to
bring up on the radio show is did last night's
game put a seed in John Schneider's head about potentially
wanting to get Geno re signed sooner than later? Because
if he keeps that up, the price may only go
up when it's all said and done. Now he's got
a year left on his deal and they get the

(30:50):
franchise tag. I understand all that there's no urgency to
get this thing done, and I also wonder too, And
I don't know Geno personally at all, so I can't
speak for him in this regard.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Is he the kind of guy that.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
If he gets the big deal, the two year, eighty
million dollar deal that we've been kicking around, will that
limit some of his drive? Is Is he a guy
that's possessed right now on a mission to get that
life changing money, which in some ways he's already gotten.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
I think he's made more.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Money now than he thought he was gonna make two
or three years ago, for sure, when he was a
lifelong backup. But are the Seahawks better off waiting this
out and signing him over the offseason, or are they
better off giving him a new deal right now before
the price only goes up and he plays more hardball
over the offseason. I mean, look, this is a great

(31:38):
year for Gino Smith to have a good season because
the NFC is so wide open, and what have you
and I've been saying.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
I mean, this is consistent. I think with our approach.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
We've all been talking about Ryan Grubb's gonna make Gino
Smith a lot of money. Ryan Grubb's gonna make Dk
metcalf a lot of money, right, And guess what's happened
so far? Those two things are playing out. Shane Waldron was.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
The offensive coordinator of the last two times was in
Detroit and unequivocally and check the numbers, Gino Smith's worst
performance against the Lions in the last three years was
last night. Unequivocally, like you can't even argument he was.
In last year's win, he was thirty two of forty
one three twenty eight two touchdowns no interception, with the

(32:18):
passer rating of one sixteen. Two years ago against the
Detroit Lions, he had even better passer rating. He was
twenty three of thirty three twenty two touchdowns a passer
rating of one thirty two. Yesterday had a passer rating
of eighty seven. Okay, but does that mean he played
poorly last night? It just because he played well against

(32:39):
the Lions. He should always play well against the Lions.
Are you generally happy with the way Gino Smith played?
Generally happy?

Speaker 3 (32:47):
What are we doing it comparing it to other games
when every year is different?

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Well, because I'm saying that if he always plays well
against the Lions, it shouldn't move us towards resigning Geno
any further because he played well against the Lions. Now,
if he goes out and plays well against the Niners,
he goes out and plays well against some elite football
teams down the stretch, then I will be more moved

(33:12):
to give Gino Smith more money than I am right now.
But I'm two years eighty billion dollars. That's what we
said last week.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
That's what I still say, despite the fact that he
had a few DPI penalties. Terry and Arnold was their
first round pick and improved upon what was a horrific
secondary over the last couple of years. So Arnold did
have a few moments, but he's still a good player.
So again, and Aiden Hutchinson, I mean, he continues to
improve every single game. He's a wrecking ball, right. Their
whole defense has gotten much better. So to compare what

(33:40):
Gino did over the last two years against a really
really bad secondary against a still but better secondary that
I just don't understand how you make those connections to
trait from one year to the next. It's so different
year to year. I'm sorry, I can't hear what you're
saying over the I apologize.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
You need to pay him more than two years eighty
million dollars because of what you said last night.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
And I'm saying that last night was it was a
good win in the right column for him. I'm saying
that if you are his agent and you are putting
together a bit of marketing materials to present the Seahawks
over the offseason, yesterday was a good day for your client.
I think last night was like rod Titwell on Monday

(34:25):
Night football. Last night was a good night for Gino Smith.
His stock went up how much we can debate, but
it certainly didn't go down after last night's performance. No
question in my mind, we're gonna break the Husky Hawks.
