Now with Petros, Peer's Dave Softy Muller.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Gosh, we're back here at the five point twenty bar
and grill Oh hanging out. That was right, getting ready
for a Game five of the World Series. And what
a wonderful opportunity here to talk to a guy who
I know his heart is just beating one hundred miles
a minute, getting ready for maybe one of the biggest
games he's ever seen. Gather around the TV with his family,

(00:54):
wearing his Dodger blue. He's got the pom Poms ready
to go, all set for the game to night. The
King of sports stock Raty Oh in Southern California, Father
of the Year, Husband of the week, the biggest Dodger
fan we know and one damn fine American, our friend
Petros Papadoccus, Brought to you by y the one and
only Sweet James, the dense bearded justice can come through

(01:16):

Speaker 5 (01:17):
If you've ever been.

Sweet James is the best awarded best attorneys in America,
voted number one. Give him a call at eight hundred
and nine million, eight hundred nine zero zero zero zero
zero zero or sweet James dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
How can you stand it? An hour away?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
First, Chuck on, Relax, what do you mean? It's exciting,
there's no doubt. But when you go up three oh
and then you lose the next one, then it just
becomes like a butt puckering thing. The celebration is over.
Everybody says everything that you said on the show when
they were up three to oh was a jinx. Really

(02:04):
they're taking a victory lap, and then everybody gets you
confused with the guy that ripped the ball out of
Mookie's hand and his friend. That guy, it was kind
of softy asque from back in the day. You know,
he had a little bit of a softy look. You
gotta I can see myself doing that. Try to pull

(02:24):
the good guy's hand off, give.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Me like you're pulling muscles from a shell.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Yes, and then just try to take off and sprint
out the stadium with the guy's glove.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Austin what's his name?

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Austin Oh, I had it right here, Copa cabana something,
no cocino, coppa.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Luis, damn it here it is, I got it right here.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
They had to get rid of him anyway I had.
They wanted to let him in. But Austin Coppo beyonco yeah,
coppo beyond.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yes, Yes, I wanted to say buca to Bepo.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
It's unfortunate because because I think if that happened at
Dodgers Stadium, or if it happened in San Diego or
Boston or anywhere, those people would be maligned.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
But because it's New York and everybody's we're the.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Best, you know, it's celebrating them.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Yeah, it's kind of a different vibe, but but what
what whatever, Yes, it is exciting, I think, you know,
with without sounding condescending, because I'm talking from LA. I
think it's exciting for everybody in baseball that the Dodgers
and Yankees are playing. Save your Mariners, of course that
would be a big deal. But I mean this beats

(03:44):
the Diamondbacks Rangers right of course. And for the vibes
in the arenas, I mean, the stadiums have been just awesome,
with the mail box heads in New York and the
Cholos and the Sussios and the Gordo's in La.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
It just a very exciting series to watch. But now
it's kind of nut cut in time. Garrett Cole's getna
pitch from Orange Lutheran High taking on Jack Flaherty from
Harvard Westlake High. Look at you can you have much
of cost to go to Harvard Westlake. I've done this
on every show, all day, fifty a year, and Orange

(04:22):
Lutheran's about twenty.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Well, I mean the Dodgers, look, you guys are used
to this, obviously, You've been the playoffs every year for
the last eleven.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yeah, but they haven't.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Won a World Series saved the COVID year which there
was no games in Dodger Stadium. Well, and that's kind
of the interesting thing right, and without being too precise
about it, because I speak about baseball in a very
rudimentary way. People detractors would say, well, the only reason

(04:50):
that the Dodgers won the series when there was COVID
is because they didn't have the whole regular season to
destroy all their pitchers like they normally do.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
And you're right, they didn't.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
But this year they did have the whole regular season
to destroy all their pictures like they normally do. They
did destroy all their pictures like they normally do, and
they're still in a position to win the World Series here,
so it looks pretty good.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, well, we're pulling for you.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
We're kind of anti Yankee in Seattle. You know, we think,
I mean, does anybody like the Yankees? Well, we think
we have a rivalry with them because we played them
in the ALCS a couple times, and we played them
in the Division Series like forty years ago, so we
think we have a rivalry. They got no idea who
we are, but we rack of them as a rival.
But we're kind of pulling for you guys, you know.
I mean, Freddy Freeman has been fun to watch, and man,
there's one thing that I always think about when I

(05:38):
watched Freddy Freeman play. That guy's got some big white teeth.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Holy cow, Yeah, I think they're veneers.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Him and Aaron Judge both had some wacky looking teeth
way long ago for whatever reason. You know, Judges from Fresno.
We all know Freddy's story, and they both had teeth
that left something to be desired. And then they got
you know, they made millions playing baseball, and people said, hey,
you got to fix your teeth. And it looks like

(06:07):
Freddie might have gone a little overboard, a little too far.
Yeah yeah, maybe a bunch too far then, and you
know maybe Aaron, you know, didn't do as bad, but
both of them have a little bit of trouble close
in their mouth. Uh, Petros is with us, so we
got USC comer to town on Saturday. Oh yeah, how
was Barbo Blast? Barbo Blast was really good? Always good.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeah right, you could do the interview right.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
No, you couldn't do the interview a year ago because
he was with kidney stones. So I was able to
pass the stone. I will give you away play by play.
How do you know there's one?

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Is that your Pete Arbagast impression? No, it's pretty good.
Thank you I like that.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Uh, but I they're starting to crack from the inside
out down there.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
What do you mean? Well, what do you mean?

Speaker 5 (06:56):
What do I mean?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
They beat Rutgers. Lincoln shouldn't even do that. You couldn't
even beat Rutgers. USC beat Rutgers. They conquered the Big
Ten giant, that is, the Scarlet Knights. They toppled them
off his horse. They came to usc though, they traveled
three thousand miles, and they left in.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Tears and shame.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
The trojan has taught them a lesson that they won't
soon forget and get away. So don't we dare, don't
you dare say us he's down. They beat Rutgers, they
sent a warning signal, a flash, a shot across the bow,
if you will, of the entire Big Ten Conference.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Did they kicking the nuts off of Rutgers?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Yeah, well you beat them in your house versus ever
to go there. I believe us he's favored to win
up there. They are correct? Should they be?

Speaker 5 (07:46):
No?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
No, I mean I think you Washington like, what is
why has Washington struggled in the games. They've struggled because
they can't finish drives? Okay, can't can't finish drives. That
might have something to do with Jed Fish's offense. Could
be maybe Jean Fish is not an air raid guy though, right,
I'm trying to answer your question. You want to hear
the answer, you want.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
To s R.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah, but I want to ask some questions too, Okay,
go ahead, oral, Jed Fish is not an air raid guy, right, No, no,
but he brought an air raid quarter, so he might
have he might have some issues inside the twenty just
because there's ghosts in his head.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
So okay. And then special teams, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Special teams has been bad.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Uh Indiana game, they had two drives where they allowed
thirty five plays on two drives over a quarter of
clock time, not stopping the run. They just couldn't stay.
They just got dominated on the.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Grounders did that?

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Well, yeah, you don't have to worry about that because
Lincoln Rally doesn't want to run the ball. What about
this Woody Marks guy, he's the best player on the team.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
He played.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
You know, Woody Mark's played with Will Rogers at Mississippi State.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I do. He caught eighty three balls as a running
back three years ago.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
That's why he came to USC Because you know they
don't want to run it, and even though he's clearly.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
The best player on the offense, they don't want to
run it.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
And then defensively, I think USC is susceptible as anybody else.
They're improved from where they were last year, but that's
not saying much. And you know, it's a thing at USC.
It's it's interesting if you lose games early in the
year and people get on you, and like you said,

(09:27):
they're cracking from the inside out. They've closed down media
coverage they've lost. I mean, you can't really say anything
when you lost to Maryland and Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Why do they do that? Why'd they shut down media access?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Like I think Lincoln Riley's getting bullied by like pube
stash beat riders. I think I told you that, Like
the LA media is pretty soft, and Lincoln Riley's having
a lot of trouble navigating it.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Who's got a pube stash in the LA media?

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Luca Evan maybe. And then I mean there's Luca Evans.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
I think the guy, Luca Evan, the guy, the same
guy that he banned last look it up, Look up
right now, Luca Evans. Dude, they're young, is all I'm
saying Lucia Evans.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Luca Evans looks like he's twelve years old exactly, and
these guys are beating around, Uh Lincoln Riley's head and
shoulders like a piniana.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
He works for the La Times this night. Yes, yes,
what happened to Scott Wolf?

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Scott Wolf? ScOTF uh Scott Wolf has a blog?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Oh okay, Oh that's right, the inside the USC thing.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
Oh yeah, got chat.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
So you're telling me, hang on just a second here,
you're telling me that Lincoln Riley he was making like
a gazillion dollars a year. He shut down practice because
this five year old looking guy from the La Times
is busting his balls.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Yeah, you gotta be kidding me.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Uh, I'm not.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I would say just to the LA media in general,
the more that the incoming from the outside, I mean, look,
you can't lose them, just like Washington can't go out
and lose to Rutgers like they did, or let I
will put forty on you or whatever.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
USC.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
It's much worse they going to Maryland and losing, going
to Minnesota and losing, and a place like USC, where
their expectations are always really high. You really wonder how
they respond after a loss, right, because when everybody's a
five star, there's a little bit more of a proclivity
to point fingers and say, this is not my fault.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
I'm a star. I've seen it. I've seen it. You know.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
That's that's part of the So it'll be an interesting game.
But Miller Moss is good for one pick a game, Okay,
sometimes a really bad one. Good right now, But he's
pretty accurate passer. And they have weapons defensively offense, they're
just not a together team and they don't stop the run. Well,

(11:55):
I think that that guy Coleman will run if he's
still around.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Jonah Coleman.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Did did Jonah Coleman transfer? He go anywhere? Did he
do anything? Is he hurt?

Speaker 7 (12:07):
No?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
He had one hundred yards? All right, there you go.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Well you got a good shot. I think you got
a great chap to win.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Hey, are you?

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Dick told me off the ear that the Lakers are
going to Cleveland?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:20):
And I guess Bronnie's gonna play. Bronnie is right, Yeah,
Bronni's gonna play. I did not know. I did not
see that coming. You have kind of wrapped up in
the World Series here and he gets fired for that, Well,
there must be some kind of match up, you know.
That's when my radio partner kind of admonished me. I
was like, you know, that kind of caught me off guard.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I like, what, like, there's a match up with Brownie
that he can take.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
So yeah, yeah, Matt said, he literally likes the match
up with Bronnie and Spider Mitchell.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
There's no way, he said that we're joking. Oh god,
that's so, I said.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Actually on the morning show, uh that I believe heirs
here the two pros and a cup of Joe on
the Morning Show, which I go on every Wednesday, I said,
I said, after that the Bronny thing, I said, you know,
let me tell you something. I feel pretty good about
it because the color announcer told me that Bronni is

(13:16):
a hard worker and he is a professional, and he's coachable.
And at that point LeVar Arrington, Wow. LaVar said, are
you being sarcastic? And I said, yes, yes.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
But this is just turning into a side show.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
Now.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Now they're not even turning into a side show.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Well, I'm just saying, at least from their perspective, they
tried to pull the wool over people's eyes and say
there's a legitimate reason why the guy's here. Now they're like, ah,
the hell that, Let's just bring him out there as
a circus freak and just admit it and let people laugh.
I mean, look, like, what were we talking about earlier,
Like the double standard with the with the Yankee fans thing,
you know what I mean, Like and the East Coast

(14:02):
media if if it was any other team, they would
be admonishing those fans for basically assaulting Mookie Betts. Uh,
it's that What's not what's offensive about Lebron playing with
his son. It's not so much Lebron playing with his son.
If he's got Genie bussing them disenfranchised enough to let

(14:24):
to let him do it, that's on that's on them. Uh.
What's what's depressing is listening to a guy like Kenny
Smith sit there and tell you that you don't know
anything about basketball. You know what I'm saying, Well, I don't,
but I know enough. I know enough to know that
this is a masquerade. In so he's trying to justify
this as that there's a basketball reason why Bronnie is there,

(14:45):
is already saying, well, I mean, just the normal justification.
You know, he was a McDonald's All American and we
all know that that was a farce and a robbery
of epic proportions. The only fair evaluation of Brownie was
the fact that he was second team All League in
his league his senior year, not second team All c

(15:06):
IF for the area. Second team All League wasn't he
wasn't one of the best eight players.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
Be here, no, no, and well and and but to
be told that that's not what's happening, I think is
what is most defensive to me. That that they are
people that are they need Lebron James and they need
his weird tampering r US Sports franchise, uh agency, Clutch Sports.
They have to make nice with him. So to do so,

(15:37):
they have to tell lies about the circumstance of his
kid playing. And it's a sad state of affairs in sports.
Are you sports?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Are you rooting for the Dodgers tonight?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Like, are you actually like actively, like you know, gonna
sit in front of the TV with Fletcher and watch
the game and like, you know, schumba yeah, I mean
we yeah, I mean, dude, the Freddie Freeman home round.
I mean, come on, yeah, you would have screamed your
head inside out. Of course, you know you would have
lost your mind. You said here making fun of me.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
I'm not making fun of you at all.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
I just think there's there's people that just wonder if
you have a rooting bone in your body. I yes,
I root for the Dodgers, but I also have like
logistical issues because I have to go to Boise. I'm
calling the Boise San Diego State game. Oh, Ashton gent
their ranks, so the sex gave the Cougs a run
for their money last weekend, right, so I have to

(16:26):
fly to Boise and uh and do that. So uh,
I'm I don't know what.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Well, if there's a game, okay, I got you.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
You know, if there's a game, saying, I'm not screwed.
If there's a parade like whatever, I'm calling a game.
But logistically it's interesting, like the more games that are played, everybody,
everybody at my TV work is really happy because they
make money and they spend more money. And the more
games that are playing. My radio boss is happy because

(17:02):
you know, I mean, but we still got to get
the parade in before the election.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
So there's a lot of that going on.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
All right, well, we're rooting for you, man, enjoy it.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Bro jealous, jealous that we don't have the same I
would give anything, anything to see what you're seeing tonight
in the World Series.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Never been there and I'll never go until the Mariners
are in it.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Well, good luck to you.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Thank you, Petros Papadakis. With us, we're gonna break. We're
at the five forty Bar and Grill till seven o'clock.
N Harland joins at five right here on ninety three
to three KJRFF live.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to Softie and Dick on your home for the
Huskies and the Craken Sports Radio ninety three point three
kjr FM.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
All right back here at the five twenty Bar and
Grill until seven o'clock tonight. Kevin Harlan joins a five.
Brian Schmetzer five point forty five. He should be in
a good mood right coming up five forty five tonight, Jackson.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Did they get her done Sunday in Houston?

Speaker 2 (18:01):
See that depends on Brian Schmizer's answer to your question
of will Jordan Morris play Sunday so when you when
you ask him in five forty five, will he play
his answer?

Speaker 5 (18:13):
Will will will make my answer?

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Okay, you think you think he'll tell us? I tell us.
They're like, you know what he is?

Speaker 5 (18:21):
Is there a?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Is there a? Is there a reason for him to
make that public? Or sure to keep that bribe?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
I mean, here's the thing. And like I think we've
all understood this. I even listeners understand this. Brian will
say things to you guys that he will not say
in a press comm so out of long Acres today
I asked him how is Jordan Morris? And he said
he's doubtful.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
But doubtful is questionable. It's nothing, it's nothing. Well, here's
here's the question.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
The sounder fan in you, does the sounder fan and
you want me to hammer him and get that information
out of him? Or does the reporter want that information
out of him? This sounder fan may want you to
shut the hell up and keep it quiet.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
See I do, how I do think like Houston's gonna
to play the way they play, no matter what if
Jordan's er, Jordan's doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Okay, all right, then I'll then I'll we'll press them.
We won't let them off the hook until we get
an answer. At five forty five the night is Jordan
Morris playing or not? And if you don't answer the question,
then we're done with the interview. I'll hang up on him,
and I think I think you will.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
That's very simply if I think if Jordan doesn't play,
I think we're looking at penalty kicks again.

Speaker 5 (19:21):
All right.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
I want you to though, before we get to all that,
Harlan joins at five. I want you to find something
Jackson in your life that you're as passionate about as
Dick Fane is about the Seahawks running the foot.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Okay, I don't think not even the sounders. I am
not quession is the sound of the sound.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
I want you to find whatever that thing is there,
and I want you to bring it up on the
Year right now, because I think we should almost have
a disclaimer that we play on the show every time
we get it. You can't go five minutes. We're that
tweeting about the Seahawks run game and they're passive.

Speaker 8 (19:53):
I just staggered to see. I was like, you know what,
this will be fun?

Speaker 5 (19:56):
Uh huh?

Speaker 7 (19:57):
Because we all think that college football throws the ball
more than pro right, right, that's just the general consensus
in general terms.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
I just said, you know, let's.

Speaker 7 (20:04):
Let's see how many college football teams actually throw with
a higher percentage than the Seahawks.

Speaker 8 (20:09):
And you know the number I found out.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
What's that zero? It's amazing.

Speaker 7 (20:11):
There is not one college football team in America throws
more than Ryan.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
This is not pass attempts, it's a percentage.

Speaker 8 (20:19):
Percentage of play.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
What's the six sixty states? Number one at sixty four?

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Right?

Speaker 4 (20:25):
Okay, my god, So I did you ask when they
get to sixty nine.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
They were a couple of weeks ago they were over seventy,
but they brought it down thanks to the Atlantic.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
That's coming down. Say they're starting to turn. I'm telling
you we'll see start seeing.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
You asked me to do some stats because you want
me to throw out, you know, some of the garbage
time plays. So the first thing I looked at was
pass rate over expected. There's actually a stat that analyzes, well,
it could be. I mean, I'm just I'm just telling
you what. I'm telling you the stats that I found.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
So what are we trying to accomplish here?

Speaker 7 (20:59):
Though we're trying to we're trying to isolate whether or
not Seattle actually throws it a lot because they're down
a bunch, and that's the only reason why they do.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
They are they running because they're winning, or a team's
winning because they're running.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
Neutral down situations as determined by this you know, overlord
that does these nfls to say six, Seattle throws four
point six more percent more than expected.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Who's who's expecting it? David expected? You're gonna get the website.
I mean, I'm just trying. I'm not trying to just
help me.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Just help me. Humor you, Okay, God a smart ass here, because.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
You're gonna question every single one of these stats. Who
expects it? I am not going to give you right now.
I'm not going to give you any of my opinions.
I'm just gonna give you. Okay, you already know my
opinion of this. He throws it way too much. Okay,
they throw it four point six percent more than they
be expected would be Second is Cincinnati at three point nine, So.

Speaker 8 (21:59):
It's quite a big gap.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
It's almost a full percentage point gap over the second
place team.

Speaker 8 (22:03):
All right, Gino.

Speaker 7 (22:05):
By the way, when there is one, two or three
yards to go for a first down. He only has
a passer rating of seventy five. It's just worst passer
rating of any distance. So when they're in situations where
they could pass or run, they have been Gino has
been very, very ineffective.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
So, for example, throwing on those Gino.

Speaker 8 (22:28):
Has been very ineffective on those situations.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
Passing inside the opponent's ten yard line, Gino is three
of fifteen on the season for twenty three yards. He
has been incredibly inefficient throwing the football inside the ten
yard line. When leading, he's got a ninety eight passer
rating and he's sacked.

Speaker 8 (22:51):
Only one of every twenty attempts.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
When he's trailing, the passer rating goes down to eighty nine,
and he's sacked on one of every fourteen.

Speaker 8 (22:58):
Attempts instead of one every twenty times. Now here's where
it gets interesting.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
I divided up between first half passes and second half passes.
I went with pass plays called because you got to
you gotta take Gino dropbacks, and Gino runs as a
pass play called right because I don't think Gino's running
any design quarterback draws maybe one or two. Yeah, okay,
first half one hundred and forty six pass plays have

(23:23):
been called. This is before any game gets out of hand,
one hundred and forty six pass plays called. Meanwhile, ken
Walker has run it thirty four times, Zach Charbonay has
run it twenty four times.

Speaker 8 (23:34):
That's fifty eight runs for.

Speaker 7 (23:36):
Those two players versus one hundred and forty six pass plays.
This is first half only before it gets out of hand.
Second half, obviously the number goes up a little bit.
One hundred and eighty six pass plays called ken Walker's
run it forty times, by the way, for a much
better percentage, so I wear yards per carry. I will
say both Charbonay and Walker run the ball better in

(23:56):
the second half than they do in the first half.
They have had a tough time getting the run game
going in the first half. That doesn't mean they have
to need to go away from it, though, so Walker
ran it four times forty times in the second half,
sharbon A thirty four times.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
Which is also interesting.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
Sharbon Ay has run the ball almost as many times
as ken Walker in the second half the season.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
There's only a six carry difference.

Speaker 7 (24:17):
That to me is unbelievable because, as Hugh says, ken
Walker is massively better than Zax. Right, So is that
total carries Dick total carries in the second half Walker
forty three.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yeah, But Walker's been out for like what three games
he missed.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
He missed two games he was sick against Atlanta, but
he missed a couple of games he was he was
playing hurt early in the year.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
He was down so much against Buffalo, they I think.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
I think for me, the point is this is that
I think that they do throw the ball a little
bit too much. But I also do think that we
have to look at a lot of other variables that
are explaining why they're doing what they're doing. For example, Uh,
and you kind of mentioned a few of those numbers
right there. Geno Smith has thrown the ball one hundred
and sixty five times in the second half versus one

(25:00):
hundred and thirty seven times in the first half.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Right, He's thrown ninety nine.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
Passes in the fourth quarter, which is by far and
away his most.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Right, which is why I threw that out ranking at
the first.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
But when you look at all of the numbers overall,
I think a lot of the Seahawks passing numbers are
inflated because they do throw the ball so much in
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
He's thrown the ball almost one hundred times in the
fourth quarter in eight games.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
And the difference when you really kind of break it down, like,
for example, like do you think the Houston Texans are
having a pretty good.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
Year right now?

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Yes, for six and two, So the Seahawks are averaging
one more pass per quarter than the Texans are one
and that could come on third and two, could come
on second and ten whatever, three point six passes per
game more than the Texans twenty nine more passes overall.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
And that's all that takes.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
All it takes is for one or two extra here
or there to pop up the numbers. What I'm hoping
is that as the year goes by, Kenny Walker gets
more involved, the offensive line gets healthier, those numbers start
to come down.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
The Seahawks are.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Playing with the lead in the fourth quarter, right and
they're not tossing the ball around one hundred times in
the fourth quarter, because I'm with you. If those numbers continue,
that means the Seahawks are likely playing from behind a
lot and they're losing rights right now.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
The one thing I appreciated about what the Huskies did
this week is that Jonah Coleman was just as ineffective
in the first half running the ball first quarter, but
in the first quarter quarter as ken Walker has been.
But Jedfish did not give up on Jonah Coleman, and
he ended up with a nineteen carre or was it.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Nineteen Nimes years?

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Like one hundred and nine yard Here's the key, though,
they lost the game.

Speaker 7 (26:34):
I understand that, but they're not always going to win
the game by by devoting into the runa sure, But again, I.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Mean I feel a little weird pulling numbers from a
game that my team lost and saying this was a
good approach. I'm just talking about the philosophy. Yeah, the philosophy.
Carried the ball nine times in three quarters is what
he did. He had three three carries per quarter the
rest of the way. I mean, nobody's expecting forty carries
a game, but he had ten carries in the first
quarter and they lost the game. I mean, part of

(27:02):
this is because they can't get off the field. Are
the part of the because they were just weren't playing good.
They were drys were stalling out. I just think again
that in the end, the question is why are they
doing what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Is it going to work long term?

Speaker 4 (27:15):
And if they start to win, excuse me, get a
lead in the fourth quarter, will those numbers start to
come down? Like, for example, Patrick Mahomes, Gino Smith has
thrown one hundred and sixty five passes in the second half.
Patrick Mahomes has thrown half as many in the second half.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
He's half as many eighty six.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
But they're not because mc cain say's I'm in milking
big league.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
They're still winning games though they're fighting a way to
grind it out and win games. Baker Mayfield has thrown
one hundred and twenty four passes in the four in
the second half, Kirk Cousins one hundred and thirty, Jared
Goff's thrown ninety four, Josh Allen has thrown ninety eight.

Speaker 8 (27:49):
So what's our difference of opinion.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
I don't think there is a big difference of opinion.
I think the big difference of opinion is why are
they doing what they're doing? Are they Are they doing
it because they're because they're throwing the ball too much
in the first half.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
I don't think they are.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
I think they're trying to be as balanced as they
can and they fall they find themselves falling behind. One
thing I do find interesting is that all the conversation
right now about the Seahawks seems to be about their offense.
Nobody's talking about the defense. That's fair, and I mean
the defense. The offense Gino Smith falls on his ass
on fourth down and the defense promptly allows a ninety
three yard drive for a touchdown.

Speaker 7 (28:22):
Yeah, the defense has been just as frustrating as the offense,
especially over the last this last game.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Absolutely all right.
