Speaker 5 (02:01):
All right, he's a little bit under the weather, so
he's staying home. He's got a case of the sniffle,
he's got a case of the Thursdays, and he's staying home.
You know, I'm just starting to think that Mike Holgan
wants nothing to do with us in person. Nothing like
this is like four weeks in a row. I mean,
I don't even know what the guy looks like.

Speaker 6 (02:17):
I wish I could be there. Yeah, I wish I
could be there.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
I don't think that's true. I think if you really
wanted to be here, you were to try to find
a way to suck it up. And you get here, but.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
You're not well.

Speaker 7 (02:27):
You know.

Speaker 6 (02:27):
I hate to bring this out, but you've been wrong before.
You've been wrong before, and now you're wrong.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
What if one of your players said, you know what,
I really wish I could make practice coach, but I
can't stop coffing. What would you say to him.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
I see, I'll see you on the field. I'll meet
you out there. Yeah, exactly, Hey, by the way to
me on the phone, that's what you said to me
on the phone. But I just and I tried, but
I don't want I'm thinking of you guys. I don't
want you guys to get the sniffles or whatever I have.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
It's always an easy and I'm thinking of you guys,
I'm gonna stay home when really you're thinking about yourself
and sitting on your butt at home.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
Man, And I get it, I've been there. But hey, Mike, Mike,
let me ask you a question.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Do you and do you and Andy Reid still share
the same agent? You guys have the same agent? By
the way, yes, okay, so what do you call the Mott?
Call called Bob and ask him. I saw a story
on Twitter, and I'm not convinced it's real, by the
way at all, okay, because I have not been able
to see it or confirm it with anybody else. Somebody's
tweeting that Andy Reid is about to sign a five year,

(03:23):
one hundred million dollar contract to remain is the coach
of the Chiefs.

Speaker 7 (03:27):
Can you call them, Mott and see if that's true?

Speaker 6 (03:30):
No, I already know it's true.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
It is.

Speaker 7 (03:32):
What.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
Wow, that's been done. Holy, that's actually that's actually old news. Yeah.
I phoned him up when I read. When I found out,
I phoned Andy and I said, hey, congratulations, Can I
borrow some money from you, please, Oh.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
My god, one hundred million dollars for Andy Reid.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
Holy Ken, it's a I think it's a long you
know the exact number, but it's in that range. But
it's a ten year I think. Okay, you never know that.
You know, I don't know the fine print in it,
but it's a it's he's, he's, he's he can he
can buy a lot of cheeseburgers with that.

Speaker 7 (04:12):
Jesus.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
The only place I see it is Times of India,
So it's Mike.

Speaker 7 (04:17):
That's where I saw it.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
The people, the only people are reporting this.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
You are a you break stories.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
You should be a reporter.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
Coach like Adam Schefter.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
Yeah, no, he I Bob represents so many guys now
in the league. You know, I was his first guy
who's lost my phone number, of course, but he has
he has shoots, sixteen coaches, general manager. He's got a
lot of guys in the league. Now.

Speaker 7 (04:40):
Wow, I gotta be honest with you, Dick.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
The reason why I thought it was fake is because
I saw it at the Times of India. Yeah, that's
why this guy's confirming it. Unbelievable. Well, good for him, man,
he just said, no question about it. And you know
before we talked some Seahawks. Man, they lost to Buffalo
over the weekend, and I asked Harlan this yesterday, Mike,
when he was on the year with US.

Speaker 7 (05:01):
I guess there's two ways you can go with the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Either A, they lost a game, we can stop all
this seventeen and oh stuff, if they were even remotely
thinking about that, maybe kicking one is a good thing
for Kansas City. Or man, you know what, they've been
kind of hanging on by a thread and they finally
got caught by Buffalo.

Speaker 7 (05:18):
What side do you kind of land down with that?

Speaker 6 (05:21):
Well, I think they're season that You're right about the
fact that they won games, but a lot of close games.
And I'll listen, I give Andy a lot of credit
for that. And they have the Mahomes who makes plays.
I mean, he wins games for you. He's special. But
then they have a good defense. But they they haven't
been the dominant team. I don't think even though they

(05:41):
were undefeated. I mean, it's kind of weird to say
they weren't dominant, but they they haven't been dominating games,
but they've been winning the close ones. And eck, just
look at the block field goal, you know, that game
that they won. So but they'll be they'll be around
at the finish. They'll be one of the team. They're
fighting for the Super Bowl, no question, in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
How many teams, coacher are on your Super Bowl Championship
list that if you shut your eyes, you can say
no surprise at all if this team wins the championship.
How deep is that list?

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Well, it's changed, Dick this year. You know. I thought
I always sat San Francisco had the chance, and now
I'm not so sure. But I think Buffalo's up there,
Detroit and the way Philadelphia is playing right now, those
two teams in the NFC from our division, I'm not
quite sure any of the teams are ready for that

(06:37):
right now. But I think the two teams Denver, excuse me,
Philadelphia and Detroit and then and then Baltimore. I like Baltimore,
you know, but it'll be a fight. It'll be close
down to the end. I think.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah, Well, Mike Congred's with us, and we'll talk some
Seahawks in a minute. And I just saw a story,
by the way about the Hall of Fame that Robert
Kraft got denied by the Hall of Fame. Are you
in the same category as Robert Kraft? The coach contributor category?
Is that one big thing?

Speaker 7 (07:09):
Now?

Speaker 6 (07:10):
No, they split it up this year. They they they
it was together, and then they this year they have
just a coach's group and then a contributor group.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
So one for me to think, right, because they they
actually voted on that a couple of days ago. I
know you know that, I know your daughters know that,
and they're not going to announce it for a couple
of weeks. I don't get that portion of it. I mean,
what do they just they want to prove they can
sit on something for two weeks and keep it.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
You sound like Kathy a little bad. He's driving her cuckoo,
you know shoes, Yeah, I go, it's it's listen, whatever happened?
You know, if you guys we talked about this before,
it'd be a wonderful thing. It really would be. And
and but heck, it's doesn't rule your life, you know,
it really doesn't.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Well, I how about this. I'll make you a deal.
You can go into the Hall of Fame, but in
your speech you have to mention me. Dick and Jackson,
you agree to that.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
Well, that's guaranteed. That is guaranteed. And I went into
a fame in California last week and my high school
coach that started with me, and he was there with
his wife and Haskell was there. It was really fun
and I got to mention. You get a chance to
mention those guys, and they deserve it because the assistant

(08:20):
coach is looking I was. I get the name and
all that stuff, but my staff was awesome. They really were.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Coach Earl Thomas's name in the news. He's made it
onto the list of twenty five semi finalists. Is he
a Hall of Famer eventually? A's question number one? And
should he be a Hall of Famer right away is
question number two? If you think you should be eventually.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
I'm not sure. I mean I think he's you know,
he was really good for the Seahawks. But I look
at when I think of players going into Hall of Fame,
and this isn't probably how the comment Committee looks at it,
but I look at who they were and what they did,
and and how they were, how they were teammates, and

(09:06):
and they didn't flip anybody off. And you know, with
all all those kind of things. So he was he's
a good enough player. I think he's I think he's
not going to go in the first first round. That
would surprise me. But I think eventually, yeah, people recognized
he was really a fine player.

Speaker 7 (09:21):
Yeah, Mike, how surprised were you?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Speaking of surprise to just simply put see the Seahawks
go to San Francisco and win on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
Yeah, I was surprised a little bit. But then I
as you dig a little deeper into the forty nine ers,
right now, they are they are really they've they've lost
too many good players and they lost uh so most
in the game. That was a change. As soon as
he went out, I said, Okay, this is this is
this is going to be different now. And then you know,

(09:52):
Deebo Samuel, it was like he wasn't. I don't know
where he went, you know, I don't. I don't understand
what they're doing right now. They don't seem like the
same forty nine er team, but injuries have had a
lot to do with it. But having said that, what
a great win for the Seahawks. I mean they went
down there away game and Gino got it done on
that last Drive.

Speaker 1 (10:12):

Open the bar with cut Water. Copyright twenty twenty four,
Cutwater Spirits, San Diego, California. Enjoy responsibly. Mike McDonald's come
out this week and talked about the added importance of
this game. I mean he has totally gone one hundred
and eighty degrees away from how Pete Carroll handled games.
I mean Pete Carroll was just like it's Championship week

(10:56):
every single week. Now, no game is bigger than other,
and Mike McDonald's not. This game is bigger based upon
where we are in the standings and that it's a
division game. This game is bigger. Which which route do
you like to take?

Speaker 6 (11:10):
Oh? I like to take you No, I like to
emphasize big games. No, I'm with Mike McDonald on this.
And you know, look at we all know Pete and
he's going to say what he says, and he's that's
what he says. But down and deep in his heart
and his staff and his players, they knew when they
had a big game, a game that they had to
win to stand contention or whatever. And certain games are

(11:31):
like that, and this is one of them. You know,
They're the division this year is so close that you
probably are going to hear him say that each week
now and so maybe one game isn't any bigger than another,
but they must win games.

Speaker 5 (11:46):
Mike, if you told me right now, we can fast
forward to I don't know, two and a half minutes
to go in the fourth quarter, Seahawks are down by
three points and they have the ball. I think I'd
take it, honestly, because do you know Smith in game
winning drives in the fourth quarter has been unbelievable. Nobody
has more than him since the start of the twenty
twenty three season.

Speaker 7 (12:07):
Why is that? Why is he so good in that
type of situation.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
You know what, that's a tough one to answer, but
he has performed beautifully in that situation. So you know,
it's just I guess there's a certain calm maybe that
comes over him and he's done it before, and he goes, Okay,
I can do this again. I've done it many times before.
Let's just do it. And his teammates believe in him,
and then you know, he couple like his runs. You

(12:36):
play a man under coverage where the like the forty
nine ers did a couple of times, and you got
a quarterback that can run. Russell Wilson did the same thing,
you know, in those situations and it's very very difficult
to stop. And he has that kind of ability as
a runner, right, and he's you know, he's really a
beautiful thrower. I mean, he really is a good thrower.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
Well yeah, I mean my question would be, do you
just go more up tempo? And look, yeh, I mean
you and I have talked about that before that it
kind of limits the playbook all that stuff, but just
you know, just playing free and just playing with you know,
faster pace. Is that something that if you're talking to
Ryan Grug you'd say, hey, maybe pull that card out
a little bit earlier in the game.

Speaker 6 (13:15):
Yeah, you know, we have talked about that before, and
I think that's a good idea, I really do, you know,
because you know, you don't want to make mistakes, and
mistakes can come in that situation. It's not as controlled
by your coaches as mainly at the quarterback as andling things.
But he has shown the ability to do that, So

(13:36):
why not you know, you know, early on. And then
if it's early in the game or in the middle
of the game and it's and it doesn't quite work
the way you want to, Okay, you tried, and you
and we'll keep working on it. But he has shown
the ability to do that, so I'd like to see
a little bit more of it, just like you would.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
And he's he's been amazing at times. And then coach,
he just does the inexplicable. I mean, he had another
inexplicable pick. He had a bunch of arrs against the Rams.
I mean, is that is it too late to coach
that stuff out of him, like just the game crushing
double minus plays, because if you could just take one
or two of those out a game for Gino Smith,

(14:17):
I mean he'd vault from a mediocre quarterback into a
top ten quarterback in the league.

Speaker 6 (14:22):
I think, yeah, I don't think it's ever too late, Dick.
You know, that's what you sit down and talk to
him about and listen. With Brett Farev as an example,
you know, we had that conversation. I had to have
that conversation with him, because as talented as he was,
he would do things and then you just shake your
head right, and then finally, finally, after pounding him enough,

(14:45):
you know, finally it got better. It got better. It
didn't happen as much. And so I don't think you
ever stop. You never stop coaching a quarterback that way,
particularly if you got a quarterback who believes in you
and listens to you. That's a big one. You know,
if you lose that, then it gets a little bit harder.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
Well, Mike Colemgan's with us and Mike, I remember we
talked last week about the linebacker situation and whether or
not we would be kind of critical of John for
signing two guys that didn't make it to Thanksgiving or
give him some compliments for identifying a problem and correcting it.
And now we're seeing Tyree Knight we're seeing Ernest Jones
obviously out there on Sunday versus San Francisco. Did you

(15:25):
see any obvious differences from the linebacker corps from this
last week to a couple of weeks ago that shows
that they've definitely improved in that category.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I did. In fact, I made a little note Ernest Jones.
I think he's really good. I don't know. I don't
know how we got a hold of him, you know,
because he I thought in that game, he really performed well.
And that's the type of leader you need right in
the middle, you know, the Bobby Wagners, the kJ Wrights,
those guys. You need him in there. And if he
continues playing, I read where he wants to stay here

(15:57):
and wants to sign a new contract. He's playing for
one and he you know, he's he really played well
against the forty nine ers against Christian McCaffrey, and they
needed him in there. So I saw a big jump. Yes,
they did.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Coach, the Hawks are dealing with power out. It's like, uh,
you know, thousands, hundred thousands of people in the in
the Northwest the last couple of days. Have you ever
had to deal with something like that? Just that totally
knocked your practice week off kilter.

Speaker 6 (16:26):
I can't think of one like that, Dick, I really
can't it. Uh uh, you know, in Green Bay get weather,
and then they built the new you know, and then
I told you the story that you know Forrest Greg
and those guys, they go out and practice and in
unbelievable weather. You could die in the weather. And then
and then I said, we're not doing that. We're going inside.

(16:47):
We'll die on Sunday if we have to, you know. Yeah,
So that was you know, that's that's the main thing
we had. I have had to deal with. Uh. I
think during during when I was coaching, but nothing like,
nothing like the blackout. Goodness are here. Hey, by the way,
did you guys get hit with a blackout?

Speaker 7 (17:05):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (17:05):
I didn't, but Dick I got I got hit with
a blackout and a tree coach.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Yeah oh he was, yeah. Yeah, we came back, we
went up. We just got the bar power on just
a little while ago. That's why I can use it.
I can talk to you guys here at home. Otherwise
I'm gonna have to drive out in my car.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
I just texted Curtis Crabtree and he said, the power
is still out of the vMac as if this very second.
By the way, but hey Mike, one more before you go.
We'll let you go rest up, have some chicken soup,
get a nap, all that stuff. Uh you heard about
Daniel Jones, that the the Giants are benching Daniel Jones
and they're going to Tommy DeVito.

Speaker 7 (17:38):
They're bypassing Drew Locke and going right to the Vito.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Did you guys hear what Daniel Jones was doing in
practice today, by the way, with the.

Speaker 7 (17:45):
Giants scout team. He's playing safety on the scout team. Safety. Yes,
they took.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
One hundred and sixty million dollar quarterback, what who and
they put him at safety on the scout team. Now
this is correct because everybody's reporting this. I also saw
a report from somebody who said that Daniel Jones may
just leave the team after Thanksgiving because he's just done.
Can you ever imagine doing that to somebody? I mean, look,
whether he's worth the money or not, whether he's performed

(18:14):
or not, you're taking your starting quarterback one week, and
you're making him a scout team safety the next week
after benching him.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
No, you're no, why Amelia, No, No, you know what
I get a player as an example, You get a
player and Okay, he doesn't live up to expectation, but
you still love the guy. I mean, you've seen how
he works and you like him, and Okay, it's not working,
so you find some other solution. I think with the

(18:43):
contracts the way they are now, that there's so much
money involved, that what they were worried about. And they
did the same thing with Russell Wilson him there's an
injury cause he got hurt, then he'd get this contract,
but he'd get the guaranteed money the next year, and
they don't want that to happen, right, So I don't
even know why they're having him play safety because if

(19:04):
he plays safety, also he pulled the amstring or you know,
and do something stupid. But no, that's to me, that's disrespectful.
I don't care. I don't care how the kid has
played for you. That's that you don't treat the athlete
that way. I don't think you.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Yeah, the Athletic report, but Jones was seen wearing a
red Scout team jersey as a safety during portions of
the team practice today in New Jersey. Man unbelievable, all right, Hey, Mike,
go get better. Take next Thursday off is Thanksgiving? All right, Yeah,
you can take Thursday off. We might call you for
a little hit on Wednesday, though, so be ready for that, right.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
All right, I'm ready, all right, go get it, man.
Mike Cabrin with us on the radio show.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
Can you believe that I thought that story was bogus
when I saw it.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
That's like something out of the Onion because old I mean, okay, yeah,
they're probably not. The safety's probably not laying hits in
the practice. But right, at what point do you get
so pissed with the team that you're just like, oh,
you just like crumple with an injury. You I'm gonna
go purposely like tear my ankle up on the field
and just be like, screw you guys, man, here's my injury.
Pay me the rest of my money.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
I it's embarrassing for the Giants. Totally embarrassing for the Giants.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
And this is, by the way, this just leads to
me at least further credence to the idea that the
Giants skipped over Drew Lock because they didn't want to
pay him a million bucks or whatever the incentives were.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
This is how stupid they are.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
They take Daniel Jones and put him at Scout team
safety and they won't pay a guy a million bucks,
so they go right to number three.

Speaker 7 (20:29):
It makes you kind of appreciate a little bit.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
I know that, you know, Jodie's not Paul and they
haven't had that kind of success yet, But can you
ever imagine that happening here in Seattle ever?

Speaker 1 (20:38):
I mean, it's it's This has been a very very
professionally run franchise the entirety of the time, with the
exception of the bearing years, and other than that, it
has been a very professional last fifty years of existence.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
All Right, speaking of professional, the exact opposite will happen
next segment, whatever the hell that is. We're not going
to be professional, I promise you. Next ninety three three KJRFM.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Muh from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Softie and Dick on your Home for
the Huskies and the Cracking Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ r FM.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
Yeah, we forgot to ask Culbert who he would start
a quarterback against Oregon.

Speaker 7 (21:16):
By the way, Oh we got another week, that's true. Well,
we're gonna talking on Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
No, probably not, because he talks to Ian on Wednesdays.

Speaker 7 (21:23):
Well, I already talks to us and not Ian. Screwing it.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
We had him first, right, Who do you think went
to Hector's and Kirkland ten years ago and begged him
to come on the air with us.

Speaker 7 (21:35):
It wasn't Ian me. That's right, Dick.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
You know, it's time for this show to start thinking selfishly. Guys,
think about us, think of me. PSC says there's two
hundred and thirty five thousand customers still impacted.

Speaker 7 (21:48):
By the power outage. By the way, is your power
back at Normandy Park?

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Yeah, yesterday came back.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
Yes, And Jackson you're good, never lost power? Yeah. See,
I feel like we're flirting with fire here.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
Man.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
There's supposed to be another storm to night.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
There is tomorrow night?

Speaker 6 (22:03):
Right?

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Is it tomorrow? Another bomb cyclone come to town? Where
they did all these terms come from? By the way,
we didn't have those terms when we were kids. Bomb cyclone,
atmospheric river like, is that new?

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:17):
That's I've heard atmospheric river for a long time. The
bomb cyclones like within the last five years. That's that's
definitely a new one. I haven't heard that one before.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
But this was like the last five minutes. This is
the weather people making stuff up. The freak us out man.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Well, it's just a drop in barometric pressure that that
is over normally over twenty four hours.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
We had it in like six.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Like whatever is delineated as a bomb cyclone, it has
to happen over twenty four hours, and it happened like
over a six hour period.

Speaker 7 (22:43):
That's how big this.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
One of was.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Is that true? By the way, Jack, make everything everything
I read true?

Speaker 6 (22:48):
Right? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:48):
I trust them all that.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
Yeah, where did you read it? I mean it's Seattle Times.
You trust the Seattle Times.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
I didn't even know where the Husky basketball team is
playing in the opener forgot two weeks ago.

Speaker 7 (22:59):
Uh so this story.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
There's two quarterbacks today, the top two quarterbacks in the country.
Julian Lewis, who's a five star, had committed Dick to
LSU and flipped over to I'm sorry to USC and
it committed the Dion Sanders today. And then Bryce Underwood
was going to LSU and he committed to play football
for Michigan. So Dave Portnoy, who is the barstool founder, right,

(23:23):
had said on record that he was offering up to
three million dollars I think to find Michigan a quarterback. Well,
Bryce Underwood just committed to Michigan today after being committed
to play for Brian Kelly and LSU and Jackson has
unearthed some audio, right Jackson from Dave Portnoy, the founder
of barstool, talking about Bryce Underwood going to Michigan.

Speaker 8 (23:45):
Check it outing out there hub number one, number one,
not in the town, not in the district, not in
the state, number.

Speaker 9 (24:01):
One in the country. Recruit number one in the country.
We don't do four stars at Michigan.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
We do five stars.

Speaker 9 (24:14):
We do number one recruits in the country. We do
national champions.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
I told you we did it. Now everyone's like, Dave,
how much were we involved? Listen, there's a lot of
other factors.

Speaker 9 (24:26):
I'm not gonna sprout from my mouth and say this
that the other day.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
Was I involved in a call with the family have
the Lovely People?

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Did we pitch a plan?

Speaker 7 (24:33):
Of course we did.

Speaker 9 (24:34):
Did I know when fat boy from Ohio State Big
Ed was making fun of us this morning that he'd
be eating his words by dawn. Of course I did,
because that's what we do in Michigan. QB number one,
break the begging?

Speaker 7 (24:53):
Wow, Wow, what do we think of all this? Good
for him? Yeah, good for him? Take advantage of the dam.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Roles the rules.

Speaker 7 (25:01):
There are no rules.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
So take advantage of the fact that there aren't rules.
He is a multi multi, multi, multi millionaire. He's built
it up with this enterprise. Not everybody likes it. I
don't like some of the stuff they do. But I
think some of the stuff they do is really funny
and and he has earned it. And if that's how
he wants to spend his money, then he should be
able to spend his money buying players for.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
His favorite football.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
Yeah, well, where the hell hero problem with where's our
Dave Portnoy?

Speaker 7 (25:28):
We don't have one? Why not because we.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Got a bunch of dorks in Seattle that that don't
care about football.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
Where's our Dave Portnoy.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
There's a lot of people in Seattle that have come
here from elsewhere, and a lot of I mean, look
at the I don't know, are there not a lot
of sports fans at Amazon, or there are not a
lot of sports fans at Boeing, Or they're not in
the in the hierarchy that that that bought you know
that bought Microsoft stock when it was share.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
I mean, got more money than God in this region.
Are you kidding me? What the hell's going on around here?
That money isn't sorts fan money, I don't think.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
And that's the difference. Like keep in mind, not many
schools have a Dave Portnoy or have a Phil Knight,
Like I get it.

Speaker 7 (26:07):
There's there's always so many schools.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
So the fact is, like we don't have that Portnoy
that night, and the big money in the city just
isn't sports fan money. Well, the thing is, there should
be no real let's say he does three million. Let's
say he goes three million dollars, right, Yeah, there's no
there's no reason that we can't find a hundred Husky
fans that are huge Husky fans. At thirty thousand dollars

(26:30):
a fan, that's the same thing as a three million
dollar investment by one guy.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
So here, here's what I've heard about Mountlake Futures. What
I've heard about Moltlake Futures is that Mountlake Futures doesn't
have the big corporation you know, like Microsoft, Amazon's giving
him money. They just rely on like individual donations and
to do that. You need to have the whale. I mean,
do you find it coincidental that Jedfish actually when he
took the job, was talking about Steve Balmer getting involved,

(26:58):
Like he mentioned his name. He will's bomber on board,
he needs them on board. And so I think this
is what this is becoming.

Speaker 7 (27:04):
Dick. I'm with you.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
I got no problem with with with with with Portanoy
doing this. This is all about just making like nobody
gave a damn when fans and uh, you know, corporations
were donating big money to fund facilities like the Dempsey
from Neil Dempsey, the indoor facility, you know, raising money
for the stadium, so you know, private you know, uh, entities, corporations,

(27:26):
individuals are giving money to schools to raise money for
stadiums and facilities and basketball arenas. Now they're just doing
it for players, right, So what the hell's the difference?
So UB's gonna find that guy or gal number one
and then number two. I also think the problem with
college football is not the people that are donating money
to pay for players. It's the problem that college football
is allowing these players to be approached during the season

(27:50):
when they play for somebody else. Johnny Matteer should never
ever be getting offers during the season from a different
program for a million bucks to leave Washington State and
they're still playing games.

Speaker 7 (28:01):
That's a joke. No, I mean totally, I totally agree
with that.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
And that's and that's probably going to be the first
step in legislation. Right we're gonna we've gone to the
wild West. We're gonna come back to rules at some point.
And the first rule that I think is going to
have major sanctions attached to it is exactly what you're
talking about with John Matiir. That somebody, an entity, and

(28:24):
it doesn't even have to be the school, an entity
from School X comes to Washington State and offers John
Mattiir money while he's playing at Washington State. That's gonna
get that program put on probi.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
It should.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
It should, because it's ridiculous. And I feel bad for
Wazoo if that's happening. I feel bad for us if
that's happening. If somebody's approaching Demon Williams and now offering
him money to take off and go somewhere else. Look,
there's got to be a window. There's gotta be some
structure to all this right now. There's no structure. It's
kind of like this show. There's no structure whatsoever.
