Where we go. My dad wouldget his hands on something he thought was
funny and he would beat it todeath. Man beat it to death like
sometimes like I do on the radioshow No Door, No Doordad. Humor
is awesome. Did you see didyou see that the tweet made it?
I made a tweet, but mydad tweet driving driving home from driving around

(00:20):
from Bainbridge Island all the way backdown through Tacoma. We get in this
traffic and Federal way at I fiveand he sees one of those signs that
says adopt the high adopt the highwayright sponsored He goes, I want to
adopt a highway, and I thoughthe was serious. I was like really,
and he goes, yeah. SoI could put up a sign and
said get off my road, justlike that is the hell off. My

(00:42):
d is ninety two year old humorat its finest. Right now, I
got a chuck. So what wouldyou name your highway in honor of Dick
Fane Dick's Drive? What would youname your highway? And I'd put a
Dick drive in on Dick's Drive. That's a very easy question. All right,
Well you tell us four nine fourfive on speed up Bitch, brought
to you by Saffi and Dick.Highway one sixty seven. We got a

(01:04):
big show. We're at the amroQuin Casino Sportsbook until seven o'clock tonight.
Let's see Todd Millis many hats.Millis will join us on the show at
four o'clock. I know a lotof people are bummed out by the news
that girls flag football was not sanctionedby the WIAA, so that will stay
as a club sport. We'll talkto Todd about what's going on with that
coming up at four o'clock. I'venever seen the Seahawks get behind something the

(01:30):
way they got behind this girls flagfootball thing. They were all over it
as a franchise, social media, the whole thing. So Todd will join
us at four o'clock today talk aboutthat. Steven Sousa at five talking to
Mariners Baseball. We got some Huskybasketball news to talk about. You mentioned
it there in the update. UtahState forward Great Osibor, the Mountain West
player of the Year, has committedto play basketball for Dandy Sprinkle and you

(01:53):
dub eighteen points a game, ninerebounds, and there's multiple reports out there
saying he will be making close totwo million dollars in ANIL money, which
if you believe he's getting two milliondollars in cash, which I don't believe
that, by the way, Butif you do believe he's making two million

(02:13):
dollars in cash, that would makehim, in the NIL era, the
highest paid college basketball player of alltime. And he's going to Washington.
So I know a lot of peoplehave a different take on this than I
do, and that's totally fine.I have a kind of single minded approach
when it comes to this stuff, and you know that, and that's whatever

(02:34):
helps Washington. I'm a fan of. Okay, yeah, okay, that's
fair. I'm with you so far. Whatever helps Washington, I'm a fan
of. And I think this greatlybenefits you, Dub greatly. How often
do you see, yes, thankyou very much, great osa board greatly
benefits you Dub. This team isall over the news today. How often
do you see Washington basketball getting theirnames splashed all over the country the way

(02:59):
they are? Right and the lasttime it happened, Mark el Folts going
on, there you go, andthat really again, in the end,
did not have much of an effecton Washington as we sucked exactly. This
could have a phenomenal effect on Washington. Now, do I expect that you
dub is gonna have two million bucksto just throw around to every player that
knocks on their door. No,I don't do. I think some of

(03:19):
the details of this story are missinga little bit. Yes I do.
I think that there's no doubt thatgreat Osa bor is getting a buttload of
money to come play basketball at WashingtonLine. I also think a lot of
this money is being distorted a bit. But who cares if the nation thinks
that Great Osa bar is making twomillion dollars to go to U dubbed and
whatever phenomenal phenomenal news for the Udub whether it's true or not. Of

(03:45):
the figure, the fact that allthe tickers, ESPN, this Morning,
Fox, all those shows that youmake fun of me for watching. I
saw Washington basketball on the bottom lineten times in an hour today, and
that is huge for this prof It'slike when Josh Connery went to Oregon there
was a report out that he wasmaking like one point four million dollars.

(04:08):
You think Oregon disputed that. Ofcourse they did, of course not.
No, you want people thinking thatthere's money here at Washington. Now,
what is this doe to the lockerroom? Could there be a fracture inside
the locker room if things aren't goingwell and this guy's making two million dollars,
could that be a problem? Ihope not. Are you gonna have
players knocking on Dub's door saying, hey, what about me if they believe

(04:30):
they can afford something like that?So I think this is probably gonna be
a one off. And I willalso say this, Dick, I think
the day and time where this stuffgets controlled a bit and real back in
is coming. Right now. It'sthe wild wild West. He may be,
when it's all said and done, the highest paid college basketball player ever,
and it may stay that way forever. It could if they do put
some rules in place that limit howmuch money teams can spend on guys like

(04:54):
this. If there's a salary capper se that's eventually put into place,
this guy could live in infamy forthe rest of his life. Well,
he'll certainly be the most documented.I mean, there will be other guys
ten years from now that will makeit four and five million dollars. It'll
just be the way it used tobe, and it'll be under the table
after all this collective bargaining. Thoughthere were guys in the SEC in the

(05:15):
eighties making much more than this guy. All right, we know that forty
years ago they're making way more thanthis the cars they were being given.
You mentioned that the potential concern inthe locker room. I would say that
is largely mitigated because of Danny Sprinkle. This guy respects Sprinkle, Sprinkle respects
this guy. If this was justa guy that Washington, if this was

(05:36):
just a mercenary that Washington just hiredon some from someplace else, that nobody
really knew then that that potentially couldbe a problem. But I don't think
Danny's Danny's. If Danny Sprinkle reallythought this guy was going to be a
problem, I don't know if youwould want to have him come in.
I don't think it's a problem withhim per se, as much as it

(05:58):
would be jealousy from the other guys. That's my concern. Now again,
I think it's phenomenal for you,Dub. I think it's awesome that you
Dub is getting this kind of attention. I think it's great that you Dub
is the team that sets the recordfor the highest paid player in college basketball.
I don't think that kind of moneyis sustainable, not just that you
dubb, but all over the gamenumber one and then number two, when

(06:20):
you said there's a way to getaround that, and that's Danny Sprinkle's relationship
with him. Look, do Ibelieve that Danny Sprinkle is concerned about locker
room chemistry? Of course I do. There's no question he is concerned about
locker room chemistry. He's gonna bringin a bunch of guys that he thinks
can play and function together. Andif he believe he thought that Osubor had
a big ego or that things wouldmaybe potentially rub people the wrong way,

(06:42):
maybe he wouldn't have done this. But when you said there's one way around
this, there's one ward I thoughtwas gonna pop out of your pihole.
Next win they win games, nobodycares. Oh, you're talking about if
the team wins, this is nota problem. If the team struggles and
he struggles for example, I mean, look, the one negative to this
is that everywhere he goes there's gonnabe a bullseye on his back Big ten

(07:04):
Country, going to Oregon, goingdown to usc UCLA, walking into Ohio
State Michigan or whatever. Everywhere thisguy goes. He's gonna be known now
as the two million dollar man.And if he doesn't perform, people will
bust his balls. For sure.I would. I'm telling you, this
team's gonna win. I agree. This team going to win. They are

(07:26):
gonna win top third of the BigBig Ten win, They're gonna be an
NC double A tournament win. I'mnot gonna guarantee anything great in the NC
double A. Oh sorry, thisteam they have just signed a guy named
Bo. For God's sakes, thisteam is gonna win at a very high
level. I don't think we're gonnahave to worry about you know, a

(07:48):
sub five hundred Big ten team that'sgot chemistry issues in the locker room.
Well, I'll tell you what, man, I'm looking at this list of
names. Tyler Harris from Portland,Luis court Wright or Lewis court right from
Road Island, Chris Conway from Oakland, k C. A. Beckway is
that right from Oregon State? DJDavis from Butler, Mackay Mason from Rice,
and then Zoom's coming in. There'sa bunch of guys that nobody's ever

(08:09):
heard of that are on this basketballteam for next year. So the good
news is, I think you havethe right guy, because you know as
well as me the problem with Washingtonbasketball the last couple of years was not
talent at all. I mean, you want to give Mike Hopkins and Will
Conroy and Quincy Pond extra credit forsomething, Hey, give them credit for
bringing in good players. Yeah, they just couldn't coach him for whatever reason.
No, they brought in good players, but they didn't have a They

(08:31):
didn't have a skill guy like greadOs. No, not even close.
The Huskies haven't had a guy likeGreat Osaport at the four or five position
probably ever can he shoot? Bythe way, this kid not really not
great, but what terrible knight forGreat os Bory. What he does have
game. He has incredible footwork, which allows him to score in the post

(08:52):
at six' eight. Right,if you don't, if you're six' eight,
you can't play with your back tothe basket unless you have elite footwork.
Because he doesn't have a lead athleticism. I mean, he's not a
vert. He's not a guy that'sgonna be dunking with his elbows. So,
but his footwork, his vision, his passing, is absolutely fantastic.
He is very, very polished. If there's any husky he's NBA was kind

(09:15):
of a poor man's great Osibar wherehe's got a little bit of that game.
You mean he wasn't great, hewas poor good. NBA was a
good This is a great o isthis gonna being by the middle of January.
But he's a very He's a verygood shot blocker. He's got like
I said, he's got ex excellentvision. He's gonna be you know,

(09:35):
he's going to be one of thebest players in the Big Ten conference.
And then you add Zoom Joallo, who is top five, without question,
in my mind, top five playerever to come out of the state state
of Washington. Yeah yeah, what'sI mean, what's that worth? Right
there? An excellent Big Ten playerand the top five player to come out

(09:56):
of Washington, and then you addall these veterans around him. I do
find an interesting that osa Bors dealis the one deal that got out because
nobody has any idea what Zoom's gettingto stay at Washington. I guarantee you
I got something to stay at Washington. Guarantee A bunch of these guys got
something to come to you dubb SoI guess the question is this, I
think all of us should be onthe same page with the roster construction that

(10:18):
Danny Sprinkle along with Montlake futures.By the way, I want to give
a shout out to them because they'redoing a great job. By the way,
given Sprinkle what he needs. Ithink the roster construction has been awesome.
I almost said something else, bythe way, has been really really
good. The question is do welike the idea of a college basketball player

(10:39):
being offered a two million dollar packageto come play at Washington for a season,
because that's what it is. It'shis final season of college basketball and
he's getting two million dollars. Again, I think it's fine. I think
it's the new era of nil.I think if you're not a big player
financially, then he may as welltake a seat, especially in the Big
Ten when it comes to Purdue ina high state and Michigan and Michigan State

(11:01):
in places like that where games areyou know, arenas are drawn ten thousand
people a game. No matter what, you need to be able to make
a commitment financially, at least fornow until the rules change, which one
day they will you gotta be ableto commit and be a giant player financially
and this news today that came outfor you, Dub. I gotta be
honest with you. If you toldme two weeks ago that there's gonna be

(11:24):
a player that's gonna get a twomillion dollar around two million dollars NIL package
to come play college basketball for aBig ten school, I would not have
put you, Dub on the topof that list. Of course, I
would not have said that. Iwould have thought Michigan, would have thought
Ohio State, Purdue, Michigan State, maybe USC, maybe UCLA in LA
maybe even Oregon. For God's sakes, the fact that you, Dubb is

(11:46):
that team is awesome because there wasa concern and there still is in some
ways. Can Washington play at thebig boy table when it comes to the
NIL era? Today's a big hellyes in that direction. Starts with coaching,
you got it both and the footballand the basketball now where recruiting,
embracing the NIL is foremost in theirminds and you it has to be.

(12:09):
Now what surprises me not only thatit's Washington that gave the two million dollars,
how much is coming from Washington we'renot sure, but I mean the
package's attached to Washington. What surprisesme is is how much I was just
gushing over great Osibor, that itwas great, Ohsabor that got the two
million dollars. I mean, greatOsibor is not an NBA star, not

(12:31):
because he can't shoot. I mean, at six' eight, you have
to be an elite ball handler andthree point shooter or you got no shot
in the NBA right now, he'snot that Well. It's like it's like
free agency in the NFL, rightwhen you see a quarterback that can walk
and shoo gum and there's nobody elseavailable, all of a sudden, that
guy looks like John freakin' ol Way. I mean, look at some of

(12:52):
the names of the guys that havebeen the highest paid quarterback in the NFL
at times, Kyler, Murray,Daniel Jones, Jared Goff today, right,
exactly so, And is he thebest quarterback in the NFL? No?
Is he second best? Of coursenot. But on paper, he's
making fifty three million dollars a yearstarting next season, which makes him the
high the second highest paid quarterback onaverage per year basis in the NFL.

(13:13):
He's just next up. So we'regonna have to start getting used to this
that the highest paid guy in collegefootball in college basketball may not be the
best player. He just may bethe next one up. And then there's
a bidding war. You heard theybeat out Texas Tech and Louisville for this
guy, oh Sabor. So whatwere those teams offering? Right? What
were they offer were also offer Udub had to meet or beat and they
were off were for sure and hemay have come here no matter what.

(13:37):
But I think you're right that whetherit's true, whether it's not true.
And by the way, he's fromthe UK, so there's certain things money
wise and work wise that he can'tdo in the US. Remember Zachi,
he had that problem to his Canadianfrom Perdue, and there's certain things he
can't do. A lot of whathe's going to be doing to make this
nil deal work, I'm hearing isgoing to take place over in Britain.

(13:58):
By the way, from a marketingperspective, ways around exactly, there's there's
there's always ways, there's a loopholefor everything. But I'm a thousand percent
with you, which I hate doing. By the way, I hate agreeing
with you. It drives me nuts. It gives me a rash. But
the fact that we are sitting hereand Washington Freakin' basketball, okay, is

(14:20):
the school that just set a recordfor the highest paid player in the game.
How do you not think as aDog fan that is unbelievable. And
this may last a day for allwe know, who knows what's happening tomorrow.
Well, there's nobody, but hewas the number guy Ford. Well
I'm being I'm being half sarcast. But the fact that we can wake up
today and and and and and andbe the team and be the program that's

(14:43):
got the highest played guy in collegebasketball thing for them is awesome. I
can't wait for November. Man,when's the last time that you couldn't wait
for the first Husky basketball game ofthe season. I mean, just one,
just to see what this team's allabout. And to the fact that
you know, going into the seasonfor the first time since Matisse Thibel was

(15:03):
a senior, right, that wasthe last time you win into a season
going this team is an NC DoubleA tournament team, period, end of
story. They are going to theNC DOUBLEA Tournament. There, I mean,
they would have to have massive amountsof injuries. Sure for me to
not believe that they are a topat least five to six team in the

(15:24):
Big Ten and eight nine teams goto the NC DOUBLEA Tournament every year out
in ten. I think they hadsix last year, is that right?
It was a down years in theBig Ten. So no, I think
it's great. It's awesome for youDub that this guy's coming here. It's
awesome that they're getting this kind ofattention around college basketball. Again, this
might not last very long. Whoknows what's coming in the future. But
in the end, the fact thatWashington is that school and that team that

(15:46):
gets that kind of attention and thisgives them I think some legitimacy is a
basketball program. There's a lot ofpeople that think that you Dub is a
football school first, second, third, fourth, and fifth, and maybe
they are right, and that Washingtonbasketball is of an afterthought. The fans
don't give a damn, the alumnadidn't give a damn. This is a
sign today that maybe that's not thecase, and we're gonna find out.

(16:07):
We're gonna find out the next maybefive six years, if Washington can survive
in the Big ten. But fortoday, this is a gigantic positive step.
I think for Danny Sprinkle. We'regonna break Mariners back in action tonight
against the Royals. How they doin the last week that was. We'll
get to all that coming up nextright here on ninety three to three KJRFM
Live from the R and R FoundationSpecialist Broadcast Studio. Now back to Softie

(16:32):
and Dick on your home for theHuskies and the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three
point three KJR FM. All right, lost the GAT two between now and
seven o'clock from the Amerald Queen CasinoSports Book. Happy Monday, everybody.
Good to be back here on theair with Softy, Dick and Jackson here
from the EQC. And before weget going, and I realize we've already
gotten going with that whole opening segmenttalking about the Husky basketball team, I

(16:56):
gotta bring up one thing before wecontinue here. I cannot live with myself
until I get this off my chest. Okay, all right, because I've
been working for this place for thirtyyears and there's not many consistent things about
it, right, A lot ofgreat things and very very few negatives.
But one of the real special thingsabout working for this radio station for thirty

(17:19):
years was taken away from me whileI was on vacation. The twenty five
cent soda machine is now gone, yes, and replaced by a one dollar
soda dispenser. Vent, my friend, Who the hell made that call?
And where is he? Are youkidding me? For thirty years, I
have come to this radio station, sweat, blood tears on my knees,

(17:45):
giving that everything I had every dayfor the better part of three decades,
and all I ask in return isa simple twenty five cent can of soda
pop And now it's gone. Whomay that call? And when was it
made? And by who? Idemand answers, and I want them right
now. As a matter of fact, I am going to promise I'm on

(18:10):
a hunger strike between now and seveno'clock. I will not eat anything for
the next three and a half hoursuntil somebody tells me who made this call?
Jackson, you want an answer fromme? What do you think I
had no idea? Well, weactually know this. We know that this

(18:32):
this change actually didn't happen last week. It happened about three weeks ago.
So we know that. So Idon't have the answer of who exactly made
the call? I know, Dick, you spoke with the bosses too.
Absolute disgrace, unbelievable. I wastold is that when they went through the
progressive increases over the years, forsome for some reason, our address was

(18:56):
not included in those races, inthose price increases. And now they found
us, and so found us.The pooh they who's they? The distributors,
the man, dude, the man. So the man found us.
The distributor has been giving us acharging us on a yes, okay,
well that's what was explained to me. There are people that work for this

(19:19):
company, that put their hearts intothis job and lift paycheck to paycheck,
meal to meal. And the factthat you could show up here and feed
your family for a dollar and fourcans of diet coke and bring them home
on a Tuesday night. The factthat that that now has been taken away

(19:40):
from me and you, everybody whoworks for this company should be outraised by
My children were crying when I leavethem and told them that I could no
longer afford to bring them a terrible, terrible, terrible terrible It's got to
be rectified. How much money dowe need? What's the what's the gap.
How much money do we need tobring the twenty five cent soda cans

(20:02):
back? Because Dick Fane is offeredto have it come out of his paycheck.
Well, here's here's the other problem. It came out of my paycheck,
and my paycheck will be zero.Apparently there's already been a revolt about
from other stations and it did nothing. So yeah, well you know what,
I'm I'm I'm back in the studioon I think on Thursday or Wednesday.
I'm gonna get some face time withthe bosses. All Right, we'll

(20:22):
see, We'll see about this, because they haven't heard from me yet.
All right, unbelievable ruin the entireweek for me, ruin I found out
Monday afternoon, got out Jackson textans, I went off, I went off
on the air, and Jackson decidedto text you. I was sitting on
a beach in Maui on Monday atfour o'clock in the afternoon when the text
threat came in. Was pissed thewhole way by the whole trip. Can
we ask why you were listening, hey, why you had your phone out

(20:45):
to respond to that, but alsowhy you were listening to Molly wopple on
a beach because I have a sickness. Man, you know me, if
you ever put your phone away duringthe no, because I use it for
music too, looks fair, that'sfairy. Got my hair POD's it rocking
out to a little Gordon Lightfoot tae. Your wife ever just say put the
damn thing away about eighteen times aday and you just kid, just ignore.

(21:08):
I can't do it. I can'tput it down. Man, It's
like a drug for It's like crack. I know, I cannot put my
phone down. What's that? Iknow? A good therapist, your wife
health. I wouldn't send your wifein a million years. Yeah, you're
right. Your wife's not a goodTherapist's great. She's a great therapist.
Great therapist. She's like great Oceabors It's a great therapist, you know.
You know how like the locked onpeople have all those podcasts, Locked

(21:32):
on Seahawks, locked on Falcons,Great os of Boris should start a line
the great podcast. Everything's great, great pants, great shorts, great cupcakes,
great burritos. Maybe that's what he'sdoing in England, that's where he's
getting all this money. Great salads, great tacos, great Chinese food,
just to up his own shamee.Everything's great, all right. So here's
what we got the Mariners when Iwas gone. We had this big conversation
two weeks ago about this sixteen gamestretch from hell, and I said,

(21:56):
look, if they go eight andeight, I'll be okay with that,
right, all, I'll be finewith you said you'd sign up, I
would sign up for eight and eight. And they went nine and seven.
Yes, all right, so theywere kind of right where I thought they
would be. But you know what, looking at my phone all that time
in Maui, I'm watching the gameskind of play by playbox score or whatever.
They should have been probably ten andsix or eleven to five in those
sixteen games. Well, yeah, there's a lot of wasted pitching, a

(22:18):
lot of wasted tons of wasted pitchingin the beginning of that. And now
and since, you know, inthe last four or five days, it's
been more of the offense starting topick it up. It got warmer.
And look at this, it getswarm all of a sudden. At T
Mobile Parking. You got two gameswe rescore eight runs. I mean,
we're gonna have to ask Steven Susandoes he think that's more related to the

(22:38):
fact that they were playing an eightydegree weather instead of fifty degree weather,
or the fact that they faced thestaff in Oakland that doesn't have a lot
of swing and miss pitchers. Imean, the Minnesota has got swinging miss
dudes and Oakland didn't. And sowe were only quote unquote striking out seven
or eight times, which for theMariners is oh, that's unbelievable. Are

(23:00):
you kidneing? That is amazing. If you're striking out less than fifteen times
a game, they're making progress.But I just think this, I think,
first of all, the Mariners arein a really good spot. I
don't know who set this out.Somebody made a tweet on Twitter or x
whatever you want to call it.A the rest of the way, the
Mariners have the easiest schedule in baseball. You made the point off the year
that hey, let's find out moreabout that kind of in June or July

(23:22):
or whatever. But still, Ithink for the most part, the Mariners'
schedule is manageable. The rest ofthe way, we can we can probably
agree on that that it's manageable. You got three guys, three regular players
right now in this lineup Dick thathave ops's over seven hundred, Rojas Cal
Raley, and Dylan Moore, who'snot even supposed to be a regular because
JP Crawford got banged up. Okay, last year you had six guys with

(23:47):
ops's over seven hundred. Now youhave three of them. I'm telling you,
this team has not even begun tohit their stride yet, and they're
in first place. They might haveto win the division to make the playoffs.
It with how deep the American Leagueis this year, there's no question
about it. But Julio Rodriguez, who by the way, is set to
be on with us tomorrow at fouro'clock, he hasn't hit his stride yet
at all. He's not even closeto the player that we thought he was

(24:10):
gonna be. JP Crawford's barely played, for God's sake. So I just
think my enthusiasm and my positivity,if you will, and confidence in this
baseball team was pretty high before Itook off. I think it's even higher
now. Well, you know,as far as the schedule goes, there
are eight teams right now within twogames of five hundred plus or minus.

(24:30):
There are twelve teams in Baseball withinfour games plus or minus a four hundred
or at five hundred. So yeah, there's a lot of teams, you
know, a lot of those teamsthat are nineteen and twenty right now are
gonna be ten games under in twomonths, and it'll look like an easy
game. And a lot of teamsthat are nineteen to twenty right now will
be ten games over in two muchand those look like hard games. So
I'm I'm gonna wait until at leastafter the All Star break, if not

(24:53):
after July to look at that website. But that website that we go to,
the Tankafon website, that correct isfabulous in August and September, because
we have pointed out over the lastcouple of years that the Mariners had really
easy August and September schedules. Sothat's why we've always been saying, don't
give up, hope, don't giveup, hope. They're five hundred right
now, they've got easy schedules inAugust September, and what have they done.

(25:15):
They've just won games all August Septemberlong gets those crappy teams, So
let's hope you have another season inAugust September where you're playing a you know,
a bottom five schedule in baseball.Well, look, I mean,
you know, the Astros I thinkare going to be better. But I'm
getting kind of close to telling youthe Astros are not going to be a
factor for the division, right I'mnot there yet, but I'm knocking on

(25:38):
the damn door. The A's atsome point are going to fall apart,
there's no question. But they're justnot that good. Okay, And you
end the year with six in arow against the Astros in the A's in
September, great time to play thoseteams. So I think by the time
this thing's all said and done, they're a ninety plus win team. The
one thing that does give you pause, and obviously a large portion of enthusiasm,

(26:00):
is because of the pitching staff. The one thing that gives you pause
is the offense. Obviously that we'rejust kind of having those same little moments
of kind of concern where you justask yourself, are they gonna felix the
entire staff? Is this offense thatbad where they're gonna let down everybody and
piss away an incredible year from maybethe best pitching staff in the history of

(26:22):
the franchise. So I think thisoffense is totally underperforming big time. I
just told you last year you hadsix guys with the ops is over seven
hundred. Now you have three.Look at the back of the baseball cards.
You tell me if Julio Rodriguez isdoing what he's supposed to do,
Is Polanco doing what he's supposed todo. Is Mitch Carver doing consistently what
he's supposed to do. Was JPCrawford before he got hurt living up to

(26:45):
his expectations? Hell no to allfour of those us four dudes, dude,
not one, four that have noteven come close to playing to their
potential yet. Well, and Ithink, really we talked about this a
lot last week. As far asthe home road splits, this has not
been an underperforming team on the roadthis years is about seven hundred on the
road this year. It's been ateam mobile park problem, and t Mobile

(27:06):
Park was not a problem this weekend. Why it was eighty degrees, So
that's I think that has a lotto do with it. We always see
this team heat up offensively in thesummertime. This weekend was a summertime series.
They scored eight runs, two outof the three games. And meanwhile,
can we tip if somebody's gonna celebratewith a glass of something tonight,

(27:26):
can we tip the We tip aglass to the Colorado Rockies, who swept
the Texas Rangers, holding them atCoors Field to six total runs in three
games and gave the Mariners back firstplace. Thank you very much, Rockies.
Well look, I mean I wastold the Rocky stink and that we
should not really be fired about anythingthat happens in Colorado or somebody told me

(27:49):
that when the ms went down twostink, right, But again, you
go into that stadium and you doto that offense with that pitching staff did.
That's impressive, right, yeah,And that's exactly what the did the
Colorado when they went there. Theyheld that offense and check, man,
I'm telling you. You guys allknow this by now. You don't need
me to remind you. This pitchingstaff is unbelievable. Luis Castillo was pitching

(28:12):
like a cy Young Award winner rightnow. He finally pulled his head and
he's doing phenomenal. Okay, yes, every now and then Logan Gilbert is
gonna get his ass kicked, whichhe did the other day. Every now
and then someone's gonna have a hairballand cough it all up. But I'd
much rather have it happened once thanspread that thing out over three or four
games. We're gonna break fun withaudio coming next right here from the Emerald

(28:34):
Queen on ninety three three KJRFM.It's now time for someday in Dick's Fun
with Audio. Jimmy g pawn Star, Jimmy mister garoppolo. Now let's have
some fun with audio. You know, I'm sitting there, guys on the
beach in Maui for the last week, looking up at that beautiful blue sky,

(28:56):
fingers running through that soft sand. No, they were on your phone,
thinking to myself that was that wasthe other hand, My other fingers
were in the sand, thinking tomyself, don't ruin the bit for God.
So thinking to myself, I reallywish I was home doing Fun with
Audio with Jackson and Dick Fane.We had a good week. That's what

(29:17):
I thought you had, man,I thought that the whole week I was
there. So this is like adream come true. Good to get to
come back and do this segment withyou two gouts. We saved some good
ones for you. I. Wehad too many good ones to get through
last week, so he saved somegood one. Hope you did? All
right? Here we go, Hey, Dick, did you happen to hear
that? What's that? Dick?We start, by the way with the

(29:38):
NBA. Twenty five seconds left beforehalftime of last night's Nuggets t Wolves game,
Denver led by seven after a wildsequence called on TNT by Kevin Harlan
and Reggie Miller. Denver then ledat halftime by fifteen. Baron's hair was
shot clunck at three. Caldwell toldhuge that is a huge shot in Jokic

(30:03):
now with his third assist to goalong with six rebounds and nineteen points,
Headwards crossed the ball with a turnover. Ice Denberty pulled her at the other
end every times and he kitch itto go. Hayde in the clock,
cordlinks that's intercepting. He got atthe game good time. Four. Wow.

(30:29):
Did you see the video, bythe way, Jackson, you see
the video? Have Harlan and JamalMurray. Jamal Murray came right over to
the table and he's like, gotit, got it right in his face,
got it? Was awesome. Heis so good. And not just
because he's on with us every Wednesdayduring the football season. He's because he's
Kevin Harlan and he's the best. They scored eight points in the last twenty

(30:52):
seconds and it basically ended the game. I mean they ended the game with
that run. I mean they wonby eight and they scored eight points in
the last twenty seconds of the secondquarter. I'll tell you what, man,
I gotta be honest with you. There's one thing right now that's on
my mind when it comes to theNBA playoffs, Thunder. That's all that
matters, all right, and Mavericks. I gotta buy myself a Maverick shirt.

(31:14):
Have it FedEx here by tomorrow.I don't know. I love Dallas,
big Dallas fan, big big Dallasfan, Well, I don't.
I'm not sure if I bet him. But I'll tell you what, if
they can get those sons of bitchesout of there in the second round,
you know what, those pukes think. They think they have a shot.
They do their fans think they havea shot to win the whole thing this
year, the number one seed, sons of you know what, I want

(31:34):
Luca to hit a game winning shoton the road at OKC and then find
like a four year old kid andjust get right in his face. That's
right, punck ha, that's whatI want. Rub it in. I
don't care how old, how young, I don't care rub it in their
fat frickin faces. Man. Everyyear when the thunder get eliminated is a

(31:56):
f you thunder day, and Ican't wait for it to come back.
You're with me right, absolutely,of course, making sure, making sure
we're on the same page. ButI mean, like, as we get
closer to the Sonics coming back, and like the thunder mean lesson lesson less
never, I'll hate him forever, forever. I'm never going to root for
him. I'll always boo the hellof him when they come to Seattle,
always hate him. Once we geta team back, I could care less
about him. They're just not basketball, no way, dude, not me.

(32:19):
Jackson, how do you feel aboutthat? What the fuck? I'm
just so confused by that. TakeDick, You literally race twenty years of
bass em on history in Seattle.Let's do this, because this is going
to be a longer than five minutessec. We'll, we'll, we'll,
we'll visit this later on to dayDick says, when the Sonics come back,

(32:40):
the thunder hate won't be as muchas it is now. And Jackson,
I think is with me. Sowe'll discuss this later. All right,
Dick, did you happen to hearthat? What's that? Dick?
Go back to the NBA. Youknow, the end of Denvers win last
night, Jamal Murray Anthony Edwards, who's awesome by the way, cross paths,
engaged in some trash talk after thegame. Edwards explained what he said

(33:01):
to the t Wolve star Anthony, did you you have any words with the
Jamal or any of the Nuggets atthe end of the game there looked like
yeah, I just told as that'swhat we we love at keep keep talking
that that's what we like. Well, I love it, you know.
So you know he ain't saying nothingback, but I'm pretty sure you heard
me. They heard me. Welive for that. It's so good,

(33:22):
Dave. We had a convert Iwant to await in this. We had
a cover. I had a conversationwith you. I just I just believe
I heard it on the beach thatthe drama in the NBA far outweighs any
other sports, not the interest levelsake talking about the day to day drama,
soap opera storylines, and he waslike, nah, it's all NFL,

(33:43):
so I don't know he was.He was out of his mind,
not even close. How many howmany brothers of NFL, of NFL superstars
go onto the field and punch outfans with the games throw over? I
know? Okay, how often doesthat? And that's just like a way
this day? All right, Imean, give you a NBA. There
is so much drama in the NBA. It's insane. And I've been saying

(34:06):
it for years. This is whywe need them back, because this is
radio content for days, can carryus for weeks. Oh god, all
right, Dick, did you happenhere? What's that? Dick? Let's
get to back to the NBA?Yep three or four three three. Last
week, former NBA guard Austin Rivers, oh I saw this, went on

(34:28):
Pat McAfee's show and said that thirtyNBA players could play in the NFL right
now, but thirty NFL players couldnot play in the NBA. It caused
immediate backlash on social media and fromMcAfee himself. Then earlier today, Rivers
joined the show again to discuss thereaction he's gotten from last week's statement,
and said, thirty NBA guys goplay in the NFL. Thirty NFL guys

(34:52):
couldn't play in the NBA. Whathappened after that was every person that's ever
played in the NFL said, oh, shut up, bitch, ladies and
gentlemen of the program. Twelve yearNBA event. I think that got lost
in the conversation as well astin room. Yeah, I'm back here, I
am here, I am world.Hey, do you have anything any proclamations

(35:14):
to make or I don't. Idon't take anything, I said back,
So I don't give up patorin Mahoemes. I said yesterday Courtside that guy could
definitely play in the NFL. Igot Brandon Marshall, Sakwan Barkley, all
these guys call my phone like,yo, you know you're right right?
Okay? So is it thirty players? I don't know. It could be
ten, could be twelve. Bythe way, I'm only talking two positions,

(35:37):
tight end, wide receiver. Soand again I said, I didn't
say they'd be trell Owens out there. I just said we had guys that
could absolutely go out there. Andplay. I think he's wrong, by
the way, I think Austin Riversis wrong. I think it'd be easier.
And this is on general terms.Obviously we're not talking about like offensive
linemen and stuff. Oh, someguys could play in the NFL. Maybe
be big man. If Charles Barkleycan play in the NBA, then maybe

(35:59):
some tackles could play in the NBA. But I get it, Charles head
skill. I think it it'd beeasier for most NFL players who likely played
basketball growing up, by the way, to make the transition immediately to the
NBA, then it would for NBAplayers to immediately make the transition to the

(36:20):
NFL. If you gave an NBAplayer who is six foot five and two
d and ten pounds a year, then yes, maybe that guy could play
wide receiver in the NFL. Butif you said tomorrow you have to switch,
DK Metcalf would have an easier timeplaying basketball than Austin Rivers would football.
In my well, I don't knowabout I don't know about immediately.

(36:43):
I haven't really talked about immediately. We talked mostly about, you know,
if you had some time, Butfor me, it's a handful. It's
a handful both ways. And Idon't really know if there's if there's more
NFL guys that could play NBA ormore the other way. But I do
think it's a small handful, notthirty. We're talking three to five probably

(37:04):
that could go well. But youwould agree though that likely most NFL wide
receivers and most NFL running backs, and most NFL corners, and most NFL
safeties and maybe a lot of NFLlinebackers and defensive ends played high school basketball.
How many of the guys in theNBA played high school football, Oh,

(37:25):
probably quite a few. Think Idon't. I don't think that's right.
I don't think it's I don't thinkit's anywhere near as many, near
as many. I don't think thoseguys could survive in the NFL right away.
They get killed playing in the NFL. It's just a different ballgame,
it's a different spell. Lebron.Lebron's the guy that comes to mind,
absolutely for Lebron was an All Statequarterback in Ohio. And Hugh made the
comment last week, and I'll hesaid he thought Lebron James would have been

(37:50):
a Hall of Fame tight end,Hall of Fame tight with athletic. So
we're talking in general terms, right, So in general terms, would it
be easier if you put all theguys in the NFL here, all the
guys in the NBA there, andsaid, all right, tomorrow, you're
switching sports. I think it'd beeasier for the guys in the NFL.
And I don't have it. Imean, I don't know. I don't
have a strong take one way orthe other. I'm more of a basketball

(38:13):
guy, so I would hope.I think basketball guys, I think there
are more athletes, like skilled athletes. And when I talk about you know,
for not only basketball skill, butjust athletic skill, running, jumping,
agility. I mean there's there isn'tanybody in the NFL that six'
five were above that has the agilityof any of the guys six or five

(38:35):
are above in the NBA. Andyou take the physical component of all of
this, Ye, the strength andstuff that you would get ejected for in
the NBA is encouraged in the NFL. Right, it's just as different.
We're gonna break Todd Millis is gonnajoin us. A lot of people were
fired up today on social media aboutgirls flag football. What the hell is
that all about. We'll explain nexton ninety three to three KJRFM.
