Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey Will Rogers will join us in about a half
(00:02):
an hour from now courtesy of our pals at Montlake Futures.
He will be with us every Monday at four twenty
eight on the radio show Can't Wait to Talk to Him.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
You can learn more about Mountlake.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Futures by getting the website directly at Montlake Futures Dot
Camo's gonna tell you. Maybe the Husky should put those
QR codes on the back of the kids helmets for
the game on Saturday, like Oklahoma State did.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
But you can't do that. The NCAA put the kibosh
on that. Now. They didn't let him do it.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Well, I was gonna say it'd be pointless because nobody's
gonna be able to watch it on the Big ten networking.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
That's true. That's true. Well, unless you got Fubo, which
I now do. Yes, I want to get a full report.
I feel like Andy Dufrain and shash Shank Redemption. I
crawled through a tunnel of poop and crap, calling Comcast
to make it out the other side. Jackson, I took
my shirt off, I put my hands in the air,
and I just said, like Mel Gibson and Brave Heart,
(00:55):
freed up something.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
It's felt so good.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Still paying Comcast right now?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, but I'm getting food but for free, so it
all works out. Well Okay, Well we're gonna have to
pay for it. I got a free trial.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
I haven't cut canceled Comcast baxically.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, So he's not really out of jail yet, Jackson,
he's not what just jumping the gun, But I'm going
to Okay, I'm going to do it, like are you
going to have dinner tonight?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
The same thing for me, as long as it's.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
The same thing for me as opposed to what by
a bus.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
I mean we got to drive home, right, So yes, here's.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I am making the call, and I'm going to record
the call and I'm gonna put it on the air.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I'm gonna have a video of me making the call.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
All right, They were they record all the calls for
quality assurance. Why can't we call them?
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Absolutely freaking right, Jackson, smartest thing you've said all day.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
I've been trying to like I'm really visiting you in prison.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Trying to hand you, trying to hand you.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
The k to your cell a hammer, the rock hammer.
There you go, exactly, you poster.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
So I don't know what kind of poster you have
up over the hole, but.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Climb out of the hole already.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
How long did it take your set up telling you nothing?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
It was thirty seconds, so easy, thirty seconds A sign
for well, you just download the app.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
That's it, and then you go.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
To food dot com and you sign up credit card,
whole thing now whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
You pick the package that works for you.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I got like the middle tier one, whatever it was,
but I got, I got, I got everything I need, right, Jackson,
I got, I got, I.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Got Root Sports, the Mariners.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
You do.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
We're not pissed off the well, not anymore, not this year.
I got.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I got ESPN and all the all the ABC, CBS
for the NFL, right, yep. I've got King five for kracking, yep. Correct,
And I got Amazon Prime to for cracking. I've got
HBO Max so I can get TBS, t N, t
CNN on that. I've got Fox News if I want
to watch that on Fubo.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I got everything I need.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
And I will tell basketball College Basketball NBA on the
Max subscription too with my TBS package.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I got it all exactly.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
And if and if folks are like worried about like oh, well,
March Madness, Like it doesn't have TNTV, you can get
the March Madness games through Max. That's what I'm saying, right, Yes, yeah,
so I don't really the problem. And by the way,
red Zone you can get red Zone on Fubo. There's
zero reason for anybody to not use Fubo. Fubo is
the best, and it's the user friendly you can say.
(03:12):
It's just such an easy interface.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
It's a little bit different than Comcast. The platform it
just takes. It's like going from a Joy to an iPhone.
You just got to get used to it, right. But
you're getting everything you need and the record options are great.
The voice option on the remote is fine, at least
on the Roku stick that I have. I don't know
what platform you use for it, but it's awesome. I've
had no problems with it whatsoever. This four K programming,
which looks great on the TV as well, if you
(03:36):
have a four K TV. I got an eighty five
inch four K and it looks marvelous on that thing downstairs.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
So only problem I have.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
The only reason why I've been waiting is because I
have this TV in the family room that is drilled
into a bracket on the fireplace or just above the fireplace,
and it's got all these crazy wires and stuff, and
I have no idea where they're going, where they're coming.
So I got to get that thing off the wall,
rewire that thing, of figure it out. Once I do that, though,
I'm a free man.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
All right, that's that's the last pile of poop I
have to swim through to get this done. And that's
gonna happen tonight, by the way. Yeah, all right, I've
been waiting.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
I've been waiting for the catalyst. I've been waiting for
the just that I have been on the precipice of
cutting cable for so long and I've just been waiting
for that one excuse to do it.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
And this is it.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Well, it's weird because it's not like this was a
gigantic game. But you start telling people they can't watch
a game. They can't watch the Huskies, they can't watch
the Ducks in Oregon, can't watch USC in LA.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
It's only one a twelve games.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Screw you, man, I'm out.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
This is not like just watching like one Mariner game.
This is one of twelve in the season. Yeah, and
it's not nineteen ninety anymore. I mean blacking things out?
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Is that? That's right?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
We don't stand for that anymore.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I think comcasts really messed up. I don't know how
many people are dropping comcasts. Maybe you guys can text
us to four nine, four to five one. How many
people out there because of this particular issue with the
Big ten network and blacking it out in Seattle on Saturday?
How many people actually, raise your hand text us canceled
their Comcast cable and made a switch to a platform.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I think a lot.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
I think a lot too.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Now.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I didn't need to do it before this game because
I was going to this game. But I am not
going to the next game because I got a Storm game.
So I'm planning on watching the Husky game at home, okay,
most of it at home before I head to the
Storm game. And so I better get this wise you
won't be able to record it.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Hey, really quick, this this is probably just selfish here,
but I'm gonna say it anyway. Softie, you know.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
He's gonna give you, so get to sex and one
a test for both of us.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
No, listen, listen, hear me out here. So what happens
is Fubo has like a referral thing like most programs.
So I find my referral code and I tweeted out
and Softy you retweeted over the weekend. And if people
use that link to sign up for Fubo, not only
do I get thirty dollars off my bill, but you
also get thirty dollars.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I'll ask you a question, if you didn't get thirty
bucks off, would you still be tweeting it out?
Speaker 2 (05:57):
No? Of course.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
We both can get thirty bucks off. So use that
link and you can get it off your first bit.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
You did you get anybody to sign up?
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Well, I don't, like I won't know it until until
my next bill, So.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Okay, we actually no, I won't need.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
One person to use your code and then you get
the thirty bucks off.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
I'm hoping it works out where it's like thirty times.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
However, money, If it's ten people, he gets three hundred bucks, Well,
is that right?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
A right?
Speaker 5 (06:20):
I pay one hundred a month, I think for Fubo,
so it would only take like four people to make
it zero and then it would just be zero. But nonetheless,
all of everybody out there can use the link, and
they can all hopefully get through.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
So there's yeah, but there's a limit on how many
people can use it, you're saying, because what if, like
Hotterred people use it.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
I don't think there's a limit. Cuts you in check,
I can only I don't think that. I don't think
it works that way.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Mister Fubagati, here's a check. I think forty thousand dollars.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
I think mine goes to zero, and then everybody else
just gets the benefit.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Okay, all right, Well Jackson wants his money, so use
use the link. It's you know what, Jackson sent it
out right now on your Twitter.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
I will and I'll retweet it.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
During the break.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Why don't we get our own link and then we
can save the money.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Because I already you have to established Fubo customers. He
already had for four years ago. All right, so let's
let's get to this clip. Oh my god, we got
to keep talking about eleven years later.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
But because this is new information, this is new, this
is two people, Yeah, very key to this situation that
we have never heard talk about this situation.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
So I think it's per and I'm gonna tell you
right now going into this, I'm not one thousand percent
convinced that what we're about to hear is true.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
But let's listen.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Really, this is the what's the name of the podcast,
Jacc Politicken, Pouliticken with Marshawn Lynch, Gavin Newsom, the governor
of California, and Doug Hendrickson, who's Marshawn's agent. They all
do a podcast together, and they talked to Pete Carroll.
It's funny, ever since we had Pete Carroll and everybody
else has had Pete Carol on. Yogi Roth had him on.
These guys had him on. Remember who had him first.
(07:51):
That's right, us, your boys in Seattle. But check this
clip out regarding what happened at the end of Super
Bowl forty nine.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
It's interesting you guys got us on this talk together
because nobody had to deal with this more than Marshan
and myself turned.
Speaker 7 (08:04):
My life in a way that I could never imagine.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Take you through your mindset, that'd be very, very tough.
I can't even imagine being in your ship.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
So that was a meaningful moment.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
We lost all that that would have been two in
a row. We might have come back one three in
a row.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
At the end of the day.
Speaker 7 (08:16):
I know a lot of guys took that a lot
harder even than I did.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
But the moment just happened so quickly.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
It was gone by me not getting that ball or
was not running that ball in It made us stain
on the world to where no matter what the situation is,
that particular play is always going to be talked about
anytime I step outside on a day to day base,
at least once somebody you know mentioned that to me,
you know, about that play. It really showed me how
(08:45):
much the world and people really, you know, I mean
with me from a respect level, do.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
You compete like we do. I'll never get over that stuff.
I don't put it away. I don't get over it
at all.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I carried right to this very moment.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
So the part that I was referring to, and maybe
I'm missing something that could be I imagine this in
my head.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
It's certainly as possible. I thought.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
There was a clip circulating on the Internet where Marshawn
and Pete Carroll basically said that Daryl Bevill called the
play and they threw him under the bush. Marshawn said
something about that, and then Pete just kind of laughed
at it. Again, I'm just I'm paraphrasing everything here because
I thought that that was just them talking about the
impact right way, But.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I thought we already knew that though, right that what
that Daryl Bevill called the play ah and it went
through Pete's head Z and he didn't do anything about it.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
What I was told is that Pete Carroll was the
one that said chuck it. That's what I was told,
and I've been told that for years. So if there
is a clip circulating on the Internet of Marshawn Lynch
and Pete Carroll blaming Darryl Bevell for that pass, I mean,
that's not the context that I've heard of what happened there.
And I guess I mean, look, we can slice this
(09:56):
up six one, a half dozen, whatever any way you want.
That if he called the play, Pete Carroll heard the
play and just let it go through and never stopped it,
then you could essentially put it on the head coach
for not saying no, we're not We're not doing something
like that. But Jackson, I'm telling you there's a clip
like that from that podcast were they kind of almost
maybe for lack of a better term, assigned blame for
(10:19):
who called the play, because in the end, the head coach.
I've just said this for years, I don't buy that
on the biggest play of the year, in the biggest
game of the season, and let's face it, at that
point in time, probably the biggest play of Pete Carroll's life,
because he has a shot to go back to back
right and cement his legacy and be a Hall of
(10:39):
Fame coach without questions if he wins back to back.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
The Vince Young play was pretty big.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I don't doubt that Pete Carroll, or excuse me, I
seriously doubt that Pete Carroll would go to Daryl Bevell
and say, call whatever you want, this is your show.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
I don't buy that at all. I've never bought that.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
So you think that Bevill called every play of the
Super Bowl and then Pete took over on the last
play of the game.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
No, I think that's simpling it. That's that's that's too
simple an approach. I think those guys spoke together and
they probably had one pass play and one run.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Play, Andy Carroll.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I think Pete Carroll and Daryl Bebbell both agreed to
throw the ball. Correct the two of them, You know, well.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
But there's different There's there's a difference between Pete saying
I think we should throw it here versus Darryl saying
we've got this run, we got this pass, I think
we should pass, and Pete say, okay, let's pass, right.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
And I think that's what Pete did because Pete agreed
with it. That's my whole point. I think Pete agreed
with throwing the ball. I think that's why Pete came
out and said, you know, it's the not the worst call,
that's the worst result of a call. Remember that he
used to talk about things like that. I think Pete
Carroll greatly influenced that play. I think you're right about
what you said. And I think the opposite side is
(11:52):
that Pete Carroll just let him call whatever he wanted
to call and had no influence over that whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I don't buy that, not one second.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Do I buy that Pete Carroll just gave him that
kind of freedom over that call.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
I mean, come on and again.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Vince Young, number two, this is number one, number one,
biggest play of his life, biggest play ever. This is
the Super Bowl going back to back. So I think
we'll debate this forever. But this idea that Darryl Bevell
was just left on some island and said, go ahead
and do whatever you want. This is your show, it's
your call. And Darryl Bevell was the one that said,
I think we should throw it and over ruled Pete
(12:25):
somehow and Pete and Pete was trying to convince him
to run.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
No, I don't buy that at all.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
I think it just simply happened.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
I think the way that we're alluding to it happening
is that Daryl been calling the plays the whole game
and they got down to the one and he called
the play again, and Pete said, and Pete didn't stop him.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
He said okay, He said, okay, but that's not he
calling the right.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
But they spoke about it. They spoke about that.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
There's no way that play doesn't get spoken about, right,
I mean, but it's it's not fair.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
It's reality.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
You know that there's no way that they he calls
a play and Pete Carroll and and Darryl Bevell don't
discuss with each other what should we do here? Right? Well,
there a lot right, but they got plenty of time
to talk about what they're gonna do plenty of time.
By the way, were there any timeouts before that? I
think there was a take took a time out after
the Yeah, there was a times catch right, there was
a timeout. Yeah, I think there was a time out left.
(13:17):
I just go, god, man, what are we doing? Why
are we talking about this?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Because it was it's new. I think it's newsworthy. You
do not think it's new worthy. Pete Carroll Marshall Lyntz
talking about that play for the first time ever.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yes, it is. It is news Where I.
Speaker 5 (13:30):
Did find a sixteen second clip. I'm not sure if
this is the one?
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Look good? Why have I.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
We lost all that? That would have been two in
a row. We might have come back one three in
a row because way I feeled out. Anyway, it was huge,
but you had to deal with it, and you had
to deal with it, and I had to be the leader,
and I had to stand up for it and take
the hit and you know, take as my call and
the whole thing. And I was willing to do that.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Maybe maybe people hear that as Pete Carroll saying take
it as my call, as if it wasn't my call.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
I don't know, dude.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I mean, it's eleven years later. We can dice this
up anyway you But I just I think the head
coach is culpable in moments like that. He's responsible for
moments like that. And I just think this idea that
Darryl Bevell was just Pete said, do whatever you want,
it's your show.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I just don't buy that. I'm sorry, and I'll never
buy that.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
I don't know if does anybody buy that.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I think there's a lot of people that blame Darryl
Bevell for that play.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Yes, well, I think I think the origin of the
play came from Darryl Bevill's mind.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
The actual play itself.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Sure, that's fine, but that play probably worked a ton
during the regular season.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
So therefore I would give if there's a blame pie, huh,
I'd give fifty percent a feather to the guy that
actually came up with the play and called the play.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Yeah, I'll give Pete.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
I would do it is a bad play design, Is
that what you're saying?
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Meaning that I'm not gonna give Pete as much blame
for not shaking off the sign as I am for
the guy that actually called the sign.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
You know what I'm saying huh.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
The guy that actually called the play.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Is Darryl Bevill, right, I'm giving him more than fifty
feather blame over the person that could have stepped in
and said no, but instead trusted his offensive coordinator and said, okay,
do it.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
So you're saying that the the play call was the
wrong play to call right at that time, and more
blame goes to Darryl belv for calling that play at
that point in time from the one yard line then
goes to call.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Shaking it off.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
I believe, Okay, that's belief. That's fine, And I think that.
I mean, I'm not telling you're right or wrong, because
this is not a right or wrong. It's a matter
of opinion.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
And I think that I think that maybe I think
that maybe over five times out of ten, Marshawn Lynch
gets stuffed at the one there because of the defense
they were in.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
However, in that particular situation.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Scored well.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
It was also the throw, the block, all that stuff.
Everything was bad. The whole thing was bad, bad, bad
from the start. So I mean, this is just again,
this is not going away. This is part of our DNA.
And by the way, guys, this isn't just us bringing
this is Pete Carroll and Marshawn Lynch bringing this up
on their podcast talking about us. This is going and
you know what, there's gonna be a reunion in twenty
years from now. There's gonna be a podcast in thirty
(16:15):
years from now. I mean, maybe Darryl Bebble goes on
somebody's show and talks about it. Right, maybe Russell Wilson
goes on somebody. Every time these guys talk about this,
we're gonna be hearing about it.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Has Darrel ever talked publicly about it?
Speaker 2 (16:26):
I don't know, not sure, but it's never going away.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
As Marshawn Lynch said, every Super Bowl that's on NBC,
they'll play that play over and over again.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
We're gonna break.
Speaker 1 (16:34):

for getting this thing together. Just before we get into
details about what went down on Saturday night, give us
your impressions, your thoughts on the way you look, the
way your offense looked on Saturday at Husky Stadium.
Speaker 9 (17:45):
I mean, first of all, it was just great to
be out there. I thought it was a great environment.
The fans were great, the dog walkers great. So obviously
some things to clean up, you know, starting a little faster,
but you know, I thought with everybody being the first
time playing together, you know, a full game. I thought
we played pretty well and brought it brought it full
circle there at the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
You were certainly targeting Denzel early and often.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Is that just kind of a security blanket that you've
developed a rapport with in Springing and Fall? Or is
it just kind of a coincidence that Denzel got so
many targets earlier in that game.
Speaker 8 (18:22):
Maybe a little bit of both.
Speaker 9 (18:23):
I mean, obviously, you know, as soon as I got
here and he got to meet him and got to
meet Giles and some other guys, you know, he was
he was texting me down there every day, just trying
to throw routes.
Speaker 8 (18:34):
So that has a little bit to do with it.
Speaker 9 (18:36):
But then other fact is that, you know, just the
plays that were called in some of the scenarios we
were in. So I want to say a little bit
of both. But I thought he and Giles played really
really well well.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Will Rogers a game with us, He's with us every
Monday courtesy amount like futures and talk about that, talk
about Giles Jackson. You know, Dick mentioned the targets, but
Giles had ten catches for ninety eight yards in the game.
He was kind of all over the place, threw some
key blocks as well at wide receiver. Tell us about
your relationship with Giles and kind of what you see
potentially for him this year.
Speaker 8 (19:08):
Yeah, I mean, kind of like Denzel.
Speaker 9 (19:09):
As soon as I got here, he was you know,
it takes me every day wanting to throw, wanting to
learn the plays. You know, I thought he I thought
he played really really well Saturday night, So I think
anyway we can get him the ball. Obviously we threw
several screens his way and things like that, but he's
obviously a electric with the ball in his hands. And
like you said, you know, he just did a great
(19:30):
job blocking in the run game too. So anytime a
receiver can do that, I think we'll be good as
an offense.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Well, well, I think number one Blue Husky nation away.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
I mean it was the greatest debut by a Husky
running back in over sixty years. Did Jonah's performance even
surprise you just a little bit?
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Yeah? Absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 9 (19:51):
I Mean we had played Jonah the past two years
at my previous school when he was at Arizona, But yeah,
I thought he played really really well, and you.
Speaker 8 (20:00):
Know, it's a credit to our offensive line too.
Speaker 9 (20:02):
You know, I don't think they're getting enough love, especially
because you know, it's a new group and those guys
haven't played together as much.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
But yeah, I thought the offensive line did a really
good job.
Speaker 9 (20:11):
But uh, you know, obviously Jonah with the mistackles and
how explosive he is with the ball in his hands.
Speaker 8 (20:17):
Uh, you know, it was really really special to see.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Well Will Rogers a game with us every Monday courtesy
amount the Futures at four thirty on the radio show.
And you mentioned the offensive line doing a good job there.
They made all kinds of changes as the game went
on to the offensive line except for the center right,
so you and D'Angelo got to play the entire game together.
But tell us from a quarterback's perspective, when you've got
a different left tackle, different right tackle, different right guard
(20:41):
throughout the game, does that kind of mess with your
mojo at ALLT Or did you expect that to happen
during this game?
Speaker 7 (20:49):
Uh?
Speaker 9 (20:49):
Kind of expected it just because of the way we
practiced the previous week.
Speaker 8 (20:53):
Uh, but you know, you try not to think about
it as a quarterback.
Speaker 9 (20:56):
I mean, you've got enough to you know, look at
and make a check and really if it's the same
center and y'all are on the same communication and thinking
the same thing and you know with protections and run
checks and things like that, as long as that's good. Uh,
you know, it really really doesn't matter to me. Just
whatever the coaches thinks is best for the team.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
So what prompted the switch?
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Was it in effectiveness or was it something that you
guys had planned on doing. Hey, we're gonna try it
this way, then we're gonna try it that way and
see what works the best.
Speaker 9 (21:28):
Oh that is I don't know if that's a question
for me. I don't know if I think I'm gonna
plead the fifth on that. But you know, I think
we have several guys that can I think we have
several guys that can play and rotate, and uh, you know,
it's all it's all up to the coaches, you know,
whatever they think is best for us, best for the team. Yeah,
you know, I think the guys up front will understand that.
(21:49):
You know, that's what we're trying to get done, is
just win games. So whatever five. You know, we're playing
the best at that time, uh out there?
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Yeah, Well, well rogers with us, and you know, Dick
mentioned Jed there. I'm just curious to know kind of
from your perspective. I mean, you played with a guy
in Mike Leach at Mississipi Missippi State who's got a
lot of personality, uh and sometimes obviously was a little
bit impatient, right, I mean, what is what is Jetfish
like from that perspective? Is he kind of in a
in a uh and and impatient guy? Does he kind
(22:18):
of give you maybe some greats there a little bit
when things are going wrong? What what what's Jetfish like
to play for?
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (22:25):
No, I don't think he's impatient at all.
Speaker 9 (22:27):
I mean I think he's I think he understands, you know,
because he's coached the quarterback position at the highest level
and he's seen some of the best quarterbacks in the
in the world play the game. So he kind of
understands what it should look like. And then you know,
he also understands that, you know, he wants to get
my feedback too, So like what were you seeing on
this play?
Speaker 8 (22:44):
Did you see this? Did you see that? So?
Speaker 9 (22:46):
Uh, to have him, you know, really be involved with
the quarterbacks and then like be the play caller as well. Uh,
you know, I think that's huge, especially for you know,
especially for an offense.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
You know, yeah, I thought it was interesting.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
We heard cam Ward kind of call out an SEC
crowd yesterday in Florida and saying it was better when
I was playing against Washington at Husky Stadium. So maybe
give us your opinion of maybe compare apples to apples,
like your game against Southeast Louisiana last year to start
the season at home versus a game against Weaber State
(23:19):
at Washington. Compare like the juice for two games that
I think we would probably consider similar type opponents.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (23:28):
No, I was definitely really surprised with the fans and uh,
you know how how how into the game they were,
and how electric the environment fell Saturday night. You know,
I've never I've never really been out on the West coast,
but you know, I was definitely definitely impressed. Uh as
(23:48):
comparison from other other openers that I've played, We'll just
say that.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
So I was impressed with it. I thought the fans
did a great job.
Speaker 9 (23:57):
And yeah, I have nothing but good things to say
about our fan and I thought they did a great job.
And we're just gonna need them to, you know, keep
keep being loud keep affecting the other team, and hopefully
we can keep stacking W's well.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Will Rogers again is with us, but trying to remember
you did take a few snaps on her center right
on Saturday night if I'm not mistaken, and that would
mean you haven't done that in over a year, because
I think you you you took all your snaps last
year in Mississippi State in the shotgun. Tell me about
even just being back under center for a couple of
snaps and how weird that's been to adjust to for you.
Speaker 8 (24:32):
Yeah, we did more under center last year. Actually, you
know with Leeks, you didn't do any under.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Got you, so we did.
Speaker 9 (24:39):
We did some fair amount of under center last year,
but you know, just to be you know, under center,
like I said in communication with d Low, the center
making all the right run checks and things like that.
So to being like a pro cel offense where you're
making the checks, you're making the calls, and you're really
in controlling the offenses is really good. And I think
Coach Fish does a great job out with that.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Take us through that de graph touchdown, because that was
a saying of beauty. I think you had somebody coming
open over the middle too, and then the graft was
just wide open down the sideline. So take us through
that from start to finish.
Speaker 8 (25:15):
Yeah, it was a play we was a play we
had kind of installed. I guess it was a week
or two ago.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
We got kind of got an extra week to prepare
for these guys because they're the first game, and you know,
we had.
Speaker 8 (25:26):
Installed that play.
Speaker 9 (25:27):
And actually coach asked me, I think Friday night or
Saturday morning at the hotel, how I felt about that play,
and I told him I felt really good about it
and wanted to run it.
Speaker 8 (25:37):
So he pulled it out of the bag at the
right time. He was wide open.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Is that typical that you guys were talking. Maybe you
would even go to him during the week of practice
and say, hey, man, here's four or five things that
I think might work this weekend.
Speaker 9 (25:53):
Oh yeah, for sure. And I mean, obviously he's an
offensive guy. You know, he's a play caller as the
head coach, which is extremely on to play for. Uh So, yeah,
I think it's really cool to see Coach Fish take
input for me, and you guys always asking me like,
what do you like? How do you feel about this? Yeah,
So if you're a quarterback and you'd love to love
(26:14):
to score points and playing a fun offense. I think
coach Fish is the gout for you.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Can we can we give you a couple of plays
that you can take the jet on on our behalf
and suggest them from us, and maybe we can get
a couple of plays in.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Yeah, I don't I don't know if he'll I don't
know if he'll take to that, but yeah, I'd love
to love to pass along the message.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Okay, Well, I'm a I'm a big fan of the
Statue of Liberty and Dick loves the swinging gate. So
if we can get that in this Saturday against Eastern
that'd be great.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Man.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
I'll see what I can do.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Hey, go get him.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Go get him this Saturday, Man against Eastern Michigan.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
We'll talk on Monday, all right, man, Thanks.
Speaker 8 (26:52):
You'll have a great day.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
You got it.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Will Rogers with us on the radio show. It'd be
with us every Monday talking Husky football. I wonder what
the fans thought about the atmosphere of the game and
how many people out there actually didn't see the game
because blacked out on comcasts. I'm getting a text message
from people like just as the game is starting, saying
what the hell, we can't watch the game. They had
no idea. They didn't know, right, I mean, maybe they
(27:14):
just didn't get the word. They weren't on social media,
they didn't see it in the news. I have no
idea how much the news stations were promoting this thing,
but certainly possible somebody wouldn't have found out until they
turned the game on.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
On Saturday.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
We had to all that textimonial Steven Suza coming up
at five right here on ninety three to three KJJRFM
