(00:00):
But to be the man, yougotta beat the man. And I'm saying,
whoa right here in Nashville, Tennessee, pal um the man. Hey,
we got an update from Oklahoma whereit looks hot and muggy and steamy.
(00:20):
Lanies and gentlemen. We've got aten dollars bet. Jim Moore,
with his hatred of all things Huskies, has decided to bet against them and
go with the utah Utes. Ido not care about anything. I just
like money and I like bet,and he suckered me into a bet.
But that's fine. I took Washington. They have just hit a two run
home run here in the bottom ofthe second inning. I don't know who
(00:43):
it is, number three. Ifyou know who number three is, number
three hit a home Was it amistake pitch and he would right over you
know where it was? It wasmiddle middle. It's so funny because middle
middle and that girl turned on itand just hammered. It's so funny how
they say, you know, it'sScott's services. Yeah, just one mistake
tonight from you know George. Hehad more mistakes than that. But they
(01:06):
just weren't hit right, I mean, but they always say it's just one.
It's a real positive way to lookat him. But hey, yeah,
I don't know that's never occurred toyou when you're thinking about middle middle.
Oh that's a middle middle. Whatdid you say the equivalent to a
seventy mile an hour softball pitches?Like ninety five? Two hundred Jesus really?
(01:30):
Yeah? Five? So like lownineties, sixty five nineties. Yeah,
this is the picture for Utah Storm, about sixty five miles an hour.
It's amazing that this is basically thesame dimensions as a little league feeling.
I mean, I've always known that, but it's like crazy. They
back it up a little bit more, especially the pictures Mound. Did you
(01:52):
ever play fast pitch after college?Oh? Yeah, no, okay,
that's all they had in ketch acan and boy the things those guys could
do. As I saw faster pitches, uh in softball and Ketchikan Alaska than
I did you know, I meanjust in high school. Yeah, how
about that? Yeah? Isn't thatinteresting? Uh? Not really? All
right? Second hour of the show. What are you bringing you out?
(02:13):
Headlines? You got something this secondwe're supposed to have a guess they're they're
gonna call her out this they stolesecond. They called her out, but
she's clearly gonna be safe, andwe've got replay. We got replay,
so she's gonna be safe. Myuture back and I don't know, Husky
is still doing some damage here, two outs here, runner on second base,
(02:34):
up two to one. You wantto sing the fight song? Go
ahead. I don't know what youdo it, So I cannot Mariners.
Tonight we'll be back at it,taking on the Texas Rangers. Yeah.
Nothing, They're thirty five and twentyafter fifty five games. Best mark there
in franchise history. John Gray, who was five and one with a two
(02:55):
eight one e r A in May, though he's been four and over.
The one nine five r he takeson Luis Castile Tomorrow will be a Marco
against uh Andrew Haney, and thenit will be Bryce Miller and Nathan Valdi
on Sunday. Mike Ford has beencalled up. Taylor Trammel option Ford tearing
up Tacoma three two twenty seven ofhis fifty two hits, eleven doubles,
(03:20):
thirteen home runs, fifty six runsdriven in or Mike Ford, pretty good,
pretty minute, dh A minute, there you go, Shaws ota from
Pete Carroll, finally confirming the orIt, talks for the first time about
trek Woolin but four to six weeksrecovery says he just kind of felt in
practice one day and just went downin turf. Four to six weeks.
(03:43):
That's okay, he should be allright, he says, it's not gonna
be that bad. Here's the onethat let's go around the room on the
concern. Mean, now I'm aworry ward and I think everything's bad.
So do you three a typically aton everything? And then yeah, when
it comes interest, so you takeme for a green of salt because I'm
(04:03):
a worry ward But uh, isanybody else concerned like me of this whole
Jackson Smith and Jigbutt not being ableto do anything because of his hamstring still
now, remember he didn't do anythingthis last year in college football. He
didn't play because of the hamstring, and yet he still isn't really doing anything
(04:25):
because of the hamstring. I justbeen a lot of fanfare about picking him
about how great he's gonna be,and I just the worry warden me the
person who sees you know, thebut you know it's the war down is
the worry ward a nicer way ofsaying cynic and probably it's a Debbie Downer.
(04:45):
The Debbie Downer and me the wantwant is thinking this is just gonna
be. It's like, remember howeveryone was excited aboutd Eskridge. No,
I remember that, and then hegets a concussion and then he's like never
plays again. Like I'm starting toget Debbie Downer on Jackson's with him,
Jim, but like, can wenot get out and do some more drills
here? Like again, he didnot play this last season because of this.
(05:06):
Shouldn't he be recovered fully by now? It depends on the severity of
the injury. If it was likea strength, then I don't understand why
they're it's been a long time. But if he's been like being able to
go full bore, if he toresomething, and that leans into okay,
they're gonna be very cautious with him. But if that's why I get Debbie
Downer, well, they's a lot'sbeen did you not agree? Clearly of
(05:30):
all the rookies, a lot ofit is expected of him? Yes,
okay, right, and everyone itseems like, boy, I can't believe
the Seahawks got him got him. When they got him, I mean it
was one of the steels of thefirst round. Really, a lot of
people thought he was gonna go,you know, but in the ten to
fifteen range. So I think theway you're presenting it there, Puck,
I think it's it's fair. Ithink it's yeah, definitely fair to present
(05:53):
it. And then and then againit is June second. I understand all
of it. I think you aretrying to talk to a rational, sane
person, but you're talking to me. You're looking your rational or sane and
a Debbie Downer. You're looking atit the right way. So I start,
No, I mean a kid that'sbeen out, a kid that's been
out the entire season and then stillhas a hamstring even though he hasn't played.
(06:14):
Hey, hey, don't say thePete how many months? I'm just
excited to see him play. Whatdo you think I was gonna say?
He said he has a hamstring. He sounded like Pete has an he's got
a hamstring? Yeah, do yousound like Pete's more chuck knockle he got
a knee? Okay, he's gota knee. Hey, how's DORNI gonna
do to Sunday, he's got anokay, care to expand Chuck Knox is
(06:40):
a beauty. He really was, okay, but that's yeah, it's kind
of d Scridge like a little bit, isn't it yet? Were you worried
that he might be you know,Eskridge Junior. I want to see him
like when it's hold on way theway the I'm just saying he didn't play
last year. Now he's got ahamstring. I don't know what's happening.
For the stuff we don't see, okay, but the stuff like when he's
(07:03):
when they've been out there, whenall these people have been out there to
watch it, it's always he's limited. Every time I did see him run,
does that count? So I know? No, he's been running run
like grocery store running. Are justrunning out like Lakes Washington. Yeah,
but when it comes he does theindividual stuff right, But when it comes
(07:26):
to team stuff, they keep himout. He did do some team it
was wide receiver drills. He wasdoing that. I don't yeah, but
when they get into the team stuff, he doesn't. They just keep saying
he's limited. I'm like, unlimited. I'm just filing it away of that.
I need to be worried about somethingover the summer. So this is
what I'm gonna latch onto. Thisis my worry that and you know our
quarterback over in the Mountain is notgoing to be good. Well you've been
(07:50):
thinking that quite a while now, yeah, I mean you've been wanting the
backup guy for a while. No, that, No, it's more than
fair. Yeah, when you thinkabout it, like, no one really
brought that up when they were praisingthe Seahawks for selecting him, like,
you know, boy, but youknow what there are. It just was
always deemed kind of, oh,it's fine. And then he kept it,
remember, because then it was likesome people questioned him a little bit
(08:15):
about why didn't he come back andplay? There was some of that like
why didn't you come back and playwith your teammates because he it was kind
of talked about that. He justI'm coming out in the draft and this
season really doesn't mean anything for me, so I'm not going to play,
even though I could have played. And maybe that was the case, but
maybe he really couldn't play. Andit's just well you so you think part
(08:37):
of it to the athlete here andthat's sure, Well, okay, but
you were a track runner. Yes, I guess I shouldn't say track run
track star who regrets that he neverturned out at Washington State. You should
have, I would have been great. It would have been Bernard Lgot and
then Chris Kidd. I probably justwould have did the long jump and did
just fine. But yeah, that'dhave been great. I mean, would
(08:58):
you not say Bernard might be ourfan most famous athlete that no one knows.
I mean, go back to JohnNeno though, I think John Neno
hell is that well look at up, No, it's your n G E
n O. I believe he isfrom knar Or did you see John Chaplin?
John Chaplin, Yeah, Chaplin Motors, famous track coach, Chaplin Motors.
(09:20):
He was a kind of a jerkthough I heard that. Yeah,
Hey, did you see Old Rooton the TV the other day? That's
a rich coming from me. Whatdid I see? Never mind? Never
mind, I'm not gonna do youknow what John All keep it? You
know he could pitch too, Didyou know that? I did not know
that. You know what used towear a helmet? Yeah, but Ricky
Henderson, Yeah, it used toplay with this guy helmet. I used
(09:43):
to play it with the guy hewore a helmet. That was me rich.
You know they say that a littlebit. You know, they say
that story is not true, it'smade up. Whatever. I like it
telling it. Uh, speaking ofold route, Yeah, did you see
him on the tube? I heardhe was there, but I didn't.
I bet he does look good. You know why he looks good. It
is because he made that neighbor cutthat tree down. So now he's got
(10:03):
he's so youth he's so youthful. That was him. It wasn't his dad,
No, No, it was him. It was he was so youthful
now because he gets to stare atthe water because he forced his neighbor to
cut that tree down. Oh okay, you had to bring that up,
didn't you. Yeah? Sure,Dan John Olarude, I mean lives a
good life. He just seems likea solid citizen. And you got to
bring up this tree that I did. Yeah? Was that so ecologically?
Not cool? Logically? Yeah, not not cool to do that. Top
(10:26):
of the third, my Huskies areleading to Utah two to one. Is
he gonna go up at all?It could No. These fans just just
huffing down these corn, just cobsof corn. Now this lady, maybe
a solid maybe a solid er cutback on the corn. Corn's okay,
(10:50):
isn't it well? When she's sheliterally he's bathed in butter, it's not
health Jesus, I don't know. And now they're showing, Oh look at
this. They got a deep friedcorn. They got corn, do deep
they got I mean, they goteverything. This place looks wonderful. So
let me see if I have thisstraight. There's a heavy set woman having
corn and you're giving her a hardtime. And yet you're you're a guy
(11:13):
that goes into the refrigerator on anightly basis and sticks a big old spoon
into a peanut butter jar, andyou can stand to loose and white yourself.
Yesterday, thank you, Yesterday Idid peanut butter, and then and
then I did dipped it in yesterdayand then some nutellae peanut butter with nutella.
Oh yeah, got that nutella stuffjust doesn't do it? For what
(11:35):
is it again? Is it likegarbagel means hazel nuts? Geez, I
don't. I don't know that.Hey, that's that Brothers and Sisters place.
So whatever, whatever, it wasa great recommendation. Glad you enjoyed
I mean it still looks like aChinese place inside. But they didn't well
they did. Well, that's whatyou don't realize it's dark and then get
(11:56):
some sisters and brothers chicken on somemushoe pork. No, that's a good
spot. Stevie loved it too. How's it doing with the bubble guts?
A little tough because I you know, I parted ice cream that top it
off last night before I went rightbefore I went to bed, I had
like twelve hundred colies because I neededenergy to sleep into the bathroom. Uh
(12:16):
not yet. No, it's gonnabe a little hot. I'm gonna tell
you that right now. I meanthe bun makes it. You know you
got the chicken sandwich. Yeah, the chicken get I did the Seattle Mild,
which is the five star. Ithought you were gonna get the just
to get three slider, the threethree. I'm gonna try that next.
You can split that with two peopleand then you don't have the buns,
(12:37):
so that you know lessons of thecarbod that's true. Yeah, it's like
this lady. You know, she'sdecided not to go to sandwich. She's
just gone with the corn on thecob and layered it in butters. Her
front butt is falling over her knees. She mounted that thing like a She
(12:58):
looks like a rescue dog finding abone for the first time. Here where
she really want to keep going?God, just keep going to A program
director comes through that. Don't thinkhe listens listen. I do. I
think on occasion, Rich maybe listeningat all. So that's just my that's
my Debbie down. Oh yeah, what was it Debbie down there with Jackson
(13:20):
Smith? That's just that's my Debbiedown. Run him, And that's fair.
I think we all agree that weunderstand where you're coming. I only
do it just because I'm expecting him, Like I'm like every other Sea fans
super excited about it. They justwant to make sure he's okay, and
you know that. But at thesame time, you're like, we want
to see him okay, okay, remember when we were talking about You're right,
it doesn't mean anything now, butI understand where you're much more concerned.
(13:41):
Can I be if we get totraining camp and we're still doing all
right, he's a little limited thatI think I think we're gonna hear that.
Really basically, yeah, don't youbasically what we're hearing right now.
Well, it's no, I thinkby then, because what training camp starts
July late July. Yeah, soyou got you guys gonna have fun out
there. Okay, this would beokay. We talked about Colton Wong,
(14:03):
right, I'm gonna somehow tie thistogether. We haven't got enough Colton Wong
talk today. No, but ColtonWong. We talked about how Cavalleros taking
his job. And so if you'reColton Wong, you're sitting in the dugout
not necessarily pulling for him because youwant to get your opportunities yourself. So
if you're d got the little voodoodoll out there and he's just he's taking
(14:26):
the little pen needle right to thehamstring, well I think Eskridge just you
know, talking to his girlfriend orhis parents or his agent and saying saying,
you know, hey, you know, I hope he gets back.
This is gonna be my opportunity. And yet they drafted this kid from Ohio
State and yeah he's got some hamstringissues. Well, okay, that's a
tough break. Whoops. Yeah,I mean you don't want your teammate to
(14:50):
be injured. But at the sametime, it's a make or break season
for d esk Ridge. Of courseit is. Yeah, he looks it
at as an opportunity. I meanI would even say that about Okay,
who's been getting at how to praisethey're in the OTAs here the last few
days, it's been Mike Jackson,Right, Mike, If you read every
report, every every kind of storythat comes out of how great Mike Jackson
has looked because he's played because Woolenapparently slipped on the grass a few weeks
(15:15):
ago and injured his name. Andthen Witherspoon another guy who's been limited a
little bit, but Mike Jackson's filledin and been great. Do you think
Mike Jackson is like I mean,in his heart of hearts, like in
the in the only pit of hisstomach that he had never admit to anyone
is going just hopefully these guys getback healthy real fast. Well, yeah,
(15:35):
maybe because they'd like to compete. No, it's just no way.
When Withers is selected by the Seahawks, where's that sound bite of that is
good? Oh? Sure, they'llnever admit it. They'll never agree is
good? Right, that's right?Still getting money. I'm not saying he's
(15:56):
gonna be like, you know what, I'm fool with making X amount of
dollars and being the third guy.I know, but I'm just saying,
you know, the opinions or thoughtsthat you have, you would never share
with your closest wet, your girlfriend, your wife, whoever. Everyone does
it that the deep down in them, there's you know, a moment and
it fades probably really fast that theythink of him say, well, wouldn't
(16:19):
be that bad if they don't comeback, because then I could take over.
Well yeah, and that's just humannature and it's fair. Yeah,
I mean Mike Jackson wasn't happy aboutthat pick at number five. No,
yeah, I don't think Mike Jacksonis sitting on his sofa and they announced
that Devin Witherspoon's selected, He's like, yeah, more competition, just like
Pete says, exactly what was there? Goes my chance in a ten million
(16:42):
dollars pay day? Come on likeyou're telling me and you're a heart at
heart. Okay. When Jamal Adamsis rehabit in Dallas and he finds out
they've signed Julian Love and Jamal Adamslike, hey, pres here hashtag blessed.
This is great. No, nota chance in hell does the Prez
(17:04):
thing that that was a great signingthat they got Julie in Love. Do
you think Jordan Brooks when he foundout that Bobby Wagner was coming back,
it's like, ah, get himback. Wait a minute, checks my
notes, plays my position. Imean no, no, I know,
(17:27):
you like to believe that everyone's ateam guy, but when it comes right
down to it, you gotta thinkyourself sometimes, don't chanse it's right?
I mean sports is a team sport, but inherently it's selfish. I mean,
inherently it is. Yeah. Well, I'm sure with Brooks and Adams
it's a little different though. Imean those are you know, Adams quote
(17:48):
unquote proven guy and Brooks the samething. And so it made sense,
especially the Bobby Wagner signing, becauseBrooks, who knows when he's gonna be
ready. Adams is supposed to beready at the beginning of the season.
But I don't know. I Ilove that Julian Love signing, though the
way, was it yesterday or too? Yeah? Because he was yesterday.
(18:10):
Did you hear that I heard partof it. Yeah, it's sensational.
I mean this guy, like hewalks right in and it I don't know
by how many games will he bethe team leader, but it's gonna be
fast. Yeah, team captain lastyear. Like it's it's gonna be real
fast that he will be the spokespersonfor that defense because he is that like
(18:30):
he's just that engaging and he wasterrific in that interview. Kind of love
what he said about being a rolemodel. He has a charity and I
can't I'm blanking on what the charityis. I think it's worth the police
back home, but you know, and he just said, I have got
this opportunity to be a you know, to be a role model for kids
(18:53):
and my role and when I amas an athlete, and I think it's
important to do that, And itjust was really it was really well said.
Well, yeah, and he's someathletes embraces some don't. He's in
a spot too where he can takeover back there with digs and then you
know, move closer to line ofscramitary Jamal Adams and win win for everybody,
I would think. But I meangoing back to these yeah, I
(19:15):
think all these guys when they seethat someone has been drafted or signed.
I don't they will never come outand say anything negatively. And then I
don't even think that they dwell onit for more than maybe a few minutes.
But yeah, they of course theythink about it. Of course they
(19:37):
part of them is not wishful thatthey didn't do it, but but they
just it's human nature. Just happens. Well, it happens to have something
that maybe negative about that other person, or jealousy or or what have you.
Yeah, well I used to workwith a guy who would talk about
that and would say that when someonewas drafted, what you wanted to do
(19:57):
was help them out, because showthem the ropes and even though you knew
that they were that person was beinggroomed to take your job someday. And
so some players would take that roleand help the younger kid out. And
other players, yes, he wasone of them, but there were there
were other players that that him selfishthat he wouldn't do that. No,
he was because he uh he rememberwhat it was like with Keith was it
(20:19):
Keith Butler? Yeah, who's theSteelers DC defensive coordinator. Yeah, so
he remember what it was like. And you remember how much how many people
attacked Ben Roethlisberger for what he said, not not only about Kenny Pickett,
but it was about Mason Rudolph. But he his only mistake was that he
(20:40):
verbalized what all of Melse think. That was Ben Roethlisberger's mistake. And then
there's part of me that looks backon that and goes, well, at
least he was being honest. Yeah, yeah, you'd lie about it.
Yeah. I remember even when RussellWilson was here, like with you know
what Kaepernick was brought in, andyou know, it was always you know,
always come peat at every position, but quarterback because it was like,
(21:03):
well that's a fragile one. Yeah, yeah, so you're only going to
compete so much at that one.I mean, especially if that would have
been a disaster. I mean ifthey would have brought in Kaepernick, that
it would have just been and itwas so and for people who just didn't
understand why they wouldn't do that orwhy wouldn't you bring him in? Like
you want the best person available toback them up. It's there's a lot
(21:26):
more to that that. That's somethingthat fractures and divides a locker room.
He said, you don't want thatthere needs to be a hierarchy in that
quarterback room. The number one guyand then clearly the number two never gonna
work out when you've got one andthen one a be a disaster. That
would have been awful the team nowand it's clear pat this year that Drew
(21:49):
Locke is the number two guy, even though a congratulations still lock in.
Natalie just was looking through Instagram andthey had a bunch of their wedding photos
up, so it was though, great, what what made you look at
the Instagram? Just chopped up onit just jumped up there. Oh,
it just jumped up. It justwas all the time, it just popped
up. You didn't like do this? Do the search? Well? What
a happy couple? Absolutely happy,Yeah, beautiful. I'll bet he looks
(22:12):
really happy, wouldn't you. Yeah, And congratulations to Jake Dicker too,
oh Decker eleven years eleven eleven years, Yeah, lady. Let's see the
Huskies the bottom of the third inning. They're at the bat right now,
one out, they lead two toone over Utah. Voicemail. What do
we have coming up? Next? One? We will have voicemails. We
(22:33):
have three voicemails for you today. It's three voicemail. Now back to the
Fucking Gym Show on Sports Radio ninetythree point three kJ R ATM, probably
presented by the La Resort Casino sportsBook. Betty began when all you want
biz everything. They're excited that they'redrafting sports book. Operations are now open
(22:56):
at Boort Casino and we'll see itcreep Casino. E do do do do?
(23:18):
Ben, aren't the lady Dogs. They're not the Lady Dogs, by
the way, They're just the Huskiesflagship or Husky Athletics instead of YouTube goofs.
I don't know, Ben, Iwould have rather have been off today,
So the Husky softball team could havebeen off. Yeah, on a
Friday. That's a you know, that's a rich more question. But we
(23:40):
shouldn't. We should be off thatI've been great. Right now, two
to one, top of the fourthinning. They lead Utah and the Women's
College A World Series. We dovoicemails every day here at this time.
I can always leave us a voicemail. The iHeartRadio app downloaded today. If
you have not done so, youcan take the app on the move,
(24:02):
on the go right in the palmof your hand. Listen to us live.
But then if you miss anything, you can go to the iHeart Radio
app and check out anything that youhave missed on the iHeart Radio app.
How many voice smels we got today, Chris Spoor. They really need to
extend these bass pass in softball. It it's way too short. I mean
(24:23):
there was a tapper back to thepicture and this Utah girl got on basse
throw it away. No, shepicked it cleanly, but because it's so
close, she had to rush thethrowne throw it away. But I mean
it's it can't be the same speed, it can't be the same length as
my nine year olds play on.They have got to make them. They
(24:45):
got to make the bass pass,Baker, don't you think, well they
hit the crowd. It hadn't occurredto me until until right now. So
what would you make it like?Seventy feet? Yeah? Probably? Do
you think sixty fee is a littlea little too small for this? Yeah?
Have a Heather tar or somebody wouldprobably explain to us why why it
is what it is. But Ithink I know more than Heather Tars.
(25:07):
Yeah you could. Should they havebigger basses too? Could do that?
Did they have a pitch clock?I imagine they must. I mean literally,
I mean she hit a ball rightin front of the picture, the
picture, she fielded it clearly, and she's safe. Like, there's no
way she should be safe on that. It's just not even close. Oh
(25:33):
maybe we can look into that furtherand talk to someone who knows more about
soft You know you're not interested,so we'll just move on. Husky men's
baseball team is up eight to onewhere they have Dallas Baptist. It's on
I don't this is according to atexture or shout out text her. I
believe that I can actually find theactual score. It's on ESPN Plus.
By the way, if anyone waswondering, if you'd like to know where
(25:56):
the game is ESPN Plus, youcan go there in the ying the game.
We'd love for you to stick aroundhere, but hey, we understand
it's eight one bottom the fifth thing. That person is correct on ESPN Plus.
All right, voicemails Chris, howmany we got today? Four day?
Four voicemails today? He already toldyou that, did he? Yeah?
I wasn't paying attention. I'm complainingabout the field dimensions for college softball.
(26:18):
I just thought it when you misssomething, because I usually am the
one missing something makes you laugh?Yeah, I miss a lot. That's
good. Who do we have dowe have Sean, Michael or Michael Sean?
I don't know what we have?We have four voicemails, Michaels Sean.
Michaels is going to be on thevoicemails again. If you have any
complaints about how this show has beenrunning today, why we do not have
cable or whatever? Dick faint andiHeartMedia dot Com. Christopher take it away,
(26:42):
Hey Jim, Hey Puck. Ireally like going to Mariner games and
taking my kids, but last weekendwe took him. We staying outside waiting
to get in, and there's preacherMan with his big old megaphone yelling at
everybody. I agree. How dowe get rid of this guy? I
don't know. Do we have anyother option other than just sticking him on
the barge? Uh? The gusthe same guy this year again? They
(27:06):
do and and I'm sure then Idon't know this, but I'm sure the
Mariners have looked into trying to getrid of him. Do you think the
Mariners want him out there? Doyou think the Seahawks want him out there?
No? Uh, there is freespeech, and then there is just
being hateful, and this guy's hateful, and I just don't understand why there's
a place for He's annoying all ofthem, and it's hate speech, that's
(27:34):
all. It is, just hatespeech. So why is it allowed?
I mean, we ban everything inthis town. Everything. I'm like,
they looked into it, but theycan't do anything about it. It really
is bothers him. I haven't seenit so much this year in baseball games.
(27:55):
But how many people do you thinkhe converts over? You know,
like none? Like do you thinkanybody comes to a game and goes,
you know, he's got this guy'smaking a good point. Yeah he's got
a point. Sure I'll sign up. Yeah they're all gonna burn in hell.
Like I've been thinking of that fora while. Yeah, you got
a flyer. I go in onthe third. Admire him at all for
(28:22):
his fire, him, as farhis place every no, as far as
his persistence, because I'm like you, I think you know, you'd probably
average, you know, zero pointfive convert to night. You know,
So what what's he accomplishing with whathe's doing other than being annoying? Do
we have? It's an oldie buddya good night. Do we have nine
or Night's interview with him? That'sa great question. I know it's it's
(28:45):
it's got to be there. We'vegot to find it. Oh, he
interviewed the guy. But you've neverheard this. It's an all time.
We're gonna find it. I'll playthe twelfth third nine. I sent nine
or Night. We would when nineor eight was working there, great,
he would do anything he asked himto do, so I kind of I
made nine or eight go do manon the street stuff at Mariner Games,
(29:07):
and one of the assignments was hehad to go interview him. And it
is an all timer. The guywas willing, Well, you just with
the star of it's nine or eight. But Niner steals the show. So
good. We'll find it. Iwill find it. We'll play it.
We'll try to play at twelve thirty. Yeah, I just I would like
to get rid of him. I'msurprised he hasn't been beat up or assaulted.
(29:30):
Maybe it's because we live in Seattle. He's always at the main gate.
He's always at the main one.He doesn't because I don't go in
the main game. Yeah, thatmain gates a bad interest. People know
that the bad interest left field gate. You guys want a little known secret.
Maybe I shouldn't let it out,but I would go up on the
(29:51):
parking garage, the walking bridge wherethere's like the terrorist club. Just go
in that one. They never stopped, even if you're sitting down one.
You'll thank me, la easy.Look what floor is that on the elevator?
A floor of the elevator. Youwalk up this a third? Fourth?
(30:12):
Okay? Maybe all right, veryeasy. That left field gate seems
the left field gate is where Igoing. That's an easy one. That's
center field one. Or the homeplate is miserable. Yeah, that's a
mess. Hey, guys, psdriver Aaron, I don't really have anything
to touch on today other than Ijust want to tell you guys, I
(30:33):
absolutely love listening to your guys ashow. It's like appointment listening for me
today. I didn't do this longdrive section where I have no service because
I wanted to listen to your guysshow. All right, see you guys
later. How about that. Huhthat's two days in a row for Aaron.
I think that's very nice. Yeah, thank you, very very nice.
(30:53):
Thank you, Aaron, appreciate it. Thank you, for always listening.
Very kind of you to say thesethose nights words, Jimbaho, Puck,
Black Caucus. I just want toask something. Is it too late
in the draft to pick up NikolaYo Kitch and make him a brother?
Because God, he got the dogand VP. He may have one of
(31:17):
the third time in the rold. But you about to win that finals every
beat? You about to put thatchip ride over his head. There's no
way Miami comes in tonight. Ohbut a dog the Black Caucus. You
ever seen that Chappelle's skip. I'veheard of it, but no I have
not seen that. I will BlackCaucus, Chris the Black Caucus bring him
(31:38):
over. Yeah, he's so good. Justers numbers last night Trouble at twenty
seven points. He had fourteen assistsand ten rebounds. So he's the first
UH since Jason Kidd to and onlyto have a Finals debut with a triple
double. And he topped Bill Russellfor the amount of assist by a center
(32:00):
point. Does he pass shack twochampionships? Was the best center ever?
Or just how about this? Hewin this championship. He's already in the
conversation of my opinion, is thebest center? To every pay the game.
They're just how old is he twentiesseven? Twenty? No, he's
older than that. Remember we lookedat that. Remember he's been in the
league longer than we think. Sohe's like twenty seven. I think,
(32:21):
does he have one of those maxdeals already? He didn't. He just
up up the sign. Yeah yeah, but it wasn't like crazy, was
it or not mistaken? He isjust it's it's what I always envisioned.
Five year, two hundred seventy twomeals. Okay, that's a lot of
money what I always envisioned. Peopletalking about Sabonis and I remember when our
Vetus came over. Was I inPortland? Then? Yeah, I think
(32:44):
so or just missed him when ourVetus came over. And then Arvitus is
nine hundred years old. He can'tmove, he has no knees, but
still was just unbelievable at times, shooting threes, passing. But when I
would hear the older people talk about, well you should have seen him when
he played you know, Lithuania, how good he was, and this is
(33:05):
this is him, this is ourVitas Sabonis. Okay, excuse my ignorance.
I'm gonna be like Lisa salters here, what out of everything that he
does, what is the number onebest part of his game Passing? It's
passing. He's the best passing.I think he's just amazing. It basically
looks so effortless. There is noone better at passing the basketball. So
(33:27):
everything, no look passing, hecan do it all. He's literally a
seven foots John Stockton at a slowerpace. Yeah, guard him, just
there's no way to defend him.You put a smaller guy on him.
He shoots threes. Are you area bigger guy on him. He shoots
series and goes around him. Youput a smaller guy on him, he
post him up, you double him. He'll just but he'll eat you alive
with passing. That off balance threethat he hit in the last series,
(33:51):
He's squished. It's not unfair. They'd even play good. Yesterday they have
him play good. They beat himeasily. Mim nuggets in five. Oh,
it's gonna be a sweep. Wehave one more. Yes, I
just want to say, gotta lovepucking Jim in the morning. Listen to
the afternoon show talk. Listen toIan and Softy talk about squirrels and bald
(34:15):
Eagles for thirty minutes. My god, I'd rather drive down I five blindfold
and listen to a Russell Wilson pressconference. Love you guys, have a
good weekend. I thought that wasSofty and Michael, Sean and Joel all
wrapped up into one. There.Oh man, all right, give me
(34:38):
update from Oklahoma right now that pithole of the world. Washington leads Utah
two to one, top of thefourth thing, but Truva browing the Utes
got two runners on first and secondwith two ounce. Huski is trying to
get out of this inning and getthere to the bottom of the fourth.
We'll give you an update when wecome back. Also tweet of the day
(35:00):
next and strike and strike and forall right, the tweet of the day
coming up here. Just a quicksecond bottom of the fourth inning. Washington
leading Utah in two to one, bottom of the fourth inning. I told
you what a what a kind ofnewsy day. June second wasn't for Seattle,
(35:22):
right you did? Uh? Nineteenninety That was Randy Johnson's first no
hitter and first no hitter from Marinersnineteen eighty seven. On June second,
Griffy was selected number one overall bythe MS. June second, twenty ten,
he officially retires from the gas stationcalled into Chuck Armstrong. Game seven
(35:44):
of the Western Conference Finals. TheSonics defeated the Utah Jazz on June second,
nineteen ninety six, ninety to eightysix. Uh. Also today,
you remember a real legend in thegame aim of baseball today because on June
second, nineteen forty one, LouGarrett passed away. Today as Lou Garret
(36:07):
Day in a Major League baseball Andof course you've probably seen and heard of
the speech many many times. It'sbeen been played all over MLB network today
as they honor the great Lou Garrett. Past two weeks you've been reading about
a bad greg Today, I considermyself the luckiest man on the face of
(36:34):
the earth. When you look around, wouldn't you considerate civic to associate yourself
with such a time looking man asI'm standing in uniform in this ball park
(36:54):
today, that i might have beengiven a bad break, but I've got
an awful thank you. I watchedthat. There's a full version of it,
but it kind of it cuts inand know it's like thirteen minutes long.
(37:15):
That includes like he was being honoredthat day, which was his final
public appearance, by the way,was that day when he spoke a Yankee
stadium and just to see the thecourage, but the angst and the nervous,
the nerves he had that day totalk. You know, at that
point, you didn't didn't really knowwhat was going on. I mean,
(37:36):
it wasn't I think he was scaredthe doctors. I mean that no one
had a night, no one hadany idea. And this is a guy
who sat up there and gave, you know, one of the most famous
speeches ever. But you know,a guy's guy thirty seven years of age,
and um, I mean, thisguy played seventeen seasons for the Yankees.
(37:59):
There's nickname the Iron Horse. Heis, regardless one of the greatest
players of all times. Seven consecutiveAll Star appearances, Triple Crown winner,
He was the American League and MostValuable Player twice. He was a member
of six World Series champions. Hehis career batting average of three forty and
on base of four forty seven. He slugged four hundred and ninety three home
(38:21):
runs. He was the first majorLeague player to have his uniform number retired
by a team. And so it'sbeen a big deal today because they're honoring
it's lou Garret Day across baseball andand it impacts you know, May second.
May second, nineteen thirty nine iswhen his consecutive games streak ended.
(38:47):
And it's weird how life and sportsintertwines and intersects each other, because I
don't some may be aware of thisperson. Maybe not, But if you're
a baseball fan and you're a baseballfan on social media, you are Are
you familiar with with Sarah Lanes? You know who that is. So Sarah
(39:07):
Lanes has been a young baseball nota reporter. She's a statistician, she's
a researcher, and she has workedfor an LB network. She has worked
for ESPN, and about a yearago she had she went to Twitter to
announce that she was diagnosed with ALS. And there is a fantastic video that
(39:29):
one of her friends did I thinkit's Maddie Bell did for her. That's
on MLB Network and she covers theCleveland Guardians and the kind of the cruel,
twist and fate. When Sarah Laneswas hired at ESPN, I I
think she was like twenty three, twenty four maybe, and she sat down
(39:51):
her office or her cubicle was rightnext on this wall that had the Luke
Garrick speech was right there. Soshe saw it. She took a picture
of it. She thought it wasa very great It was a great speech,
and she was inspired by it,and she decided to read as much
as she could on lou Garret. She didn't, you know, admittedly so
it didn't know much about lou Garrett. And so she did, you know,
(40:15):
as much research as you possibly could. So Lou Garrett last played his
streak ended Iron Horse Streak, thatwas his nickname, May second to nineteen
thirty nine. Sarah Lane was bornon May second, nineteen ninety three,
and Sarah Langs a year ago wasdiagnosed with als and as you know,
and many people know, I mean, the life expectancy is anywhere from a
(40:37):
few months to two years. Nowwe've seen Steve Gleason is a medical marvel
of how he's been able to tostay alivee. And so there's a just
a great piece on MLB Network aboutabout her and about lou Garret and all
that. For her. It's calledStars for Sarah dot Org. I would
encourage you to go rEFInd it onTwitter and watch the video, and she
(40:59):
just had a powerful message about youif you make sure you tell people you
love them, and make sure thatthey they know that before you know,
you're gone, because you don't.Once they're gone, they're gone. So
you're regretted. But he just it'sif you're a baseball fan, you watched
the speech again and there again.Like I said, there's a thirteen minute
clip of it all that shows justhim as other people are talking about him,
(41:23):
just his physical wellbeing, I mean, just his just his his body
movements and his how he's digesting allof it. And it's just a real
powerful speech. And I just anincredible amount of courage to go up in
front of I don't know how manypeople it was, whatever it was fifty
(41:43):
thousand people and to tell them that, hey, you know I'm gonna die,
and so I want to thank youguys before I die. It's yeah,
it uh well, puck um,you know it hits close to home
for me. And you have afriend, Yeah, well, I had
a friend up in catch Candle,Aska when I moved there after college in
nineteen seventy nine. He was mylandlord and I remember watching Game five when
(42:06):
the Sonics beat the Bullets for theNBA Championship. And I had a lot
of good times with him, andlater on reconnected with his wife and found
out that he was suffering from ALSand went and visited him, and then
a couple of years later, wentto his memorial and so I, you
know, I just saw Bob andhe couldn't communicate with me, but I
could tell he knew who I was, just by the look in his eyes.
(42:28):
And we watched some movies together andsome football games when I was up
there visiting and just seeing what familiesgo through, you know, the wife
and his two sons taking care ofhim. And then you fast forward to
now. I found out a friendof mine a year and a half ago
was dealing with ALS, and soI've been seeing him periodically and seeing what
he's going through, and so it'sit's a rough one. Man. I've
(42:51):
known this guy since I was fiveyears old and would wait wait on you
under the maple tree for him tocome home on the school bus. And
I just it's been really rough togo through that and see what he's gone
through. So I think it's greatthat what baseball is doing and um to
raise awareness about this. It's amazingof all the of all the advancements we
have made in society and everything medicallyand technology, you know, technology and
(43:15):
everything eighty two years and just nothing, it's just not no advancement on it
at all. And it's just it'ssuch a cruel, cruel disease because as
many of you know it, maybesome people don't know. You are of
sound mind. You are trapped insideyour own body and you cannot communicate verbally
(43:39):
or physically. Yeah, but youare. You're nothing has touched your brain
and so you you can envision.I just I couldn't envision what that type
of pay and a heartbreak would belike. Well, and then it's just
yeah, the communication where it's it'shard to understand, you know, what
someone is saying or trying to say, and then also their complications with swallowing
(44:04):
and breathing. You know, myfriend, um, he protein shakes and
soup and ice cream things like thatbecause you can't have steak and things that
he would like to have anymore. So again, you can go to Stars
for Sarah dot Org. Can buya star and then money will go to
research into her a foundation. Butyou'll see it all across a baseball today.
(44:28):
Seven time All Stars, six timeWorld Series Champion. He had a
season I was looking at this todaythat was just nineteen twenty seven. He
had three seventy three. He hadtwo hundred and eighteen hits, He had
a fifty two doubles, He hadforty seven home runs. He had a
then record one hundred and seventy fiveruns. Bad at in one hundred and
(44:49):
seventy five. Just amazing, allright. A final hour the program includes
a visit with Chris eganet
