(00:09):
Hell, No, I think she'sactually hurt. Hurt. She took a
hard fall off there. Oh,thank gosh, I hope she's okay.
(00:30):
All right, a day. Iwant some of that Wednesday, we walk
you in. It's a bucket, the go to guy from the Talila Resort
Casino Draft Kings sports book where theaction never ever stops headline then you Kings
dot Com. How about we'll getto them in a quick second. We
will, we will, We'll getto the Mariner. That's a good winner.
(00:51):
You know what we failed to talkabout yesterday, October twenty ninth against
the Cleveland Browns. I think webrought up once. Oh the throwback uniform.
Can't wait? How far back arewe throwing the nineties? So think
like kitting Ricky Waters? Was thatthe the original blue? Yeah, it's
(01:14):
the same ones. It's like alittle they spiced it up a little bit,
not much, but it's the sameones at Warner and Zorn and no
duck feathers, no duck feathers onthe pan, no duck feathers, and
just can we please just make thempermanent? I guess they're also gonna wear
them against Dallas? Is the rumoror report, Bobby Wagner said they're fire.
You know what that means the kidswhen the kids say fired. You,
(01:34):
Chris, what does it mean whenyou say fire? I mean great,
looks really good. The fire usedto mean run for your lives,
get out burning. I said they'refire. Tyler Locke has said I wish
we could wear them game one.See they're gonna be a big hit and
(01:56):
everyone's gonna love them. It'd belike, bring them back Connect Seahawk style.
Yeah. I don't not a bigfan of the city Connect. The
thought I was gonna be until blacktellI saw him in person. No,
No, the whole thing, thewhole thing, And I don't not a
not a big fan. The blackpants certainly don't do it Seattle cursive lettering.
You don't that at all? Notat all, Yeah, not at
(02:19):
all. I don't know why becausewhen I saw them on on social media,
I really liked them. But thenseeing him in person, seeing people
wear them, I I like them. When they have the black sleeves to
tie in the black pants, Yeah, I'd rather just go back to an
old school, just go pilots. The best ones is when they do the
steelheads. That's the best there arethose are the all black ones because it's
(02:39):
a black hat with a white ass. Yeah, the I think, all
Wow, I don't know if theydo all black. Don't they wear white?
It's like white end. Yeah, but but yeah, the black is
the main color. Those are great. Yeah, those are phenomenal. I
don't recall the Steelheads would neither dowhy And I didn't know much about him
until it came out, but itwas fast me and I would like to
go back to the old like HaroldReynold Jim the Fever uniforms. You all
(03:00):
those ones. I guess they kindof still wear them, don't they wear
those sometimes on is it Sundays? But it's not maybe the same. Would
you be okay if they were thecream every time at home? Yes?
I think so too, Yeah, every time? Beautiful? Simple? Did
we want to they wear the teala little bit? Did you like the
teal that was that? I'm kindof tealed out a little deal out a
(03:23):
little bit. I mean, Idon't mind it, but yeah, the
cream ones are my favorite. Yeah, and you don't have the names on
the back and yeah, it's justCleveland Brown's helmets. Yeah, Graham,
bad news for the Rangers right hander. And I don't know if anyone saw
him meet with the media. Wecan maybe play it for a tweeter of
the day. Its heartbreaking, isit? I didn't say it's heartbreaking to
(03:46):
watch. It's just well, yeah, when people I say, like he
has a reputation of being a playerthat doesn't care, that's been a knock
on him. Oh he's kind ofHe doesn't really care about the sport.
He's always injured. It's his faultthat he's is injured. If you'll if
we play it today, you'll youmight change your opinion. Well, when
that guy was healthy in his prime, pretty untouchable. Game three of the
(04:10):
NBA Finals is tonight. Who dowe like? Heat at home against the
Nuggets? Five thirty tip? Whatare they getting? Three? Well?
I don't know what is it?I'm getting three? Kid? Do you
know I heard denver by three?Okay, all right, well what do
we like? I'll take the heat? BLUs three? Huh? All right,
I'll take Denver Well, let melet me check. And you're so
(04:30):
easy. It's two and a halfright now. Okay, give me the
heat plus two and a half. All right, give me Jimmy buckets at
home. Ten bucks, ten bucks, All right, I need money,
but then you can. I don'tknow if does anybody else shield this way
that if you won't watch unless youhave action, So that's no. I
would watch no matter what. Nowwhat a Heat Nuggets Game three? You'd
(04:53):
watch it no matter why. Reallygood, it's a good series. Hey
hey, Green Potatoes, Sorry, your coach won't be that equal no matter
what. Tomorrow. Well that's it. No matter what scenarios a tomorrow game,
they're not playing tomorrow. The Potatosplay tomorrow. You're not gonna miss
Game three the NBA Finals for anything. Basic. I'm gonna watch it.
I have we have got baseball practice. When I get all want to watch
it? You're gonna tape it orall pick it up later. Okay,
(05:17):
I'm gonna watch the NBA Finals.Okay, all right. Just because you're
a curmudgeon I don't want to watchit doesn't mean that I watch the fourth
quarter the other night. There yougo, so you watched it. I
like the way the Heat play.I like the way the Nuggets play.
I like the way the Heat.I like the nugget. Yeah, here
we go. You agree, youknow who? Dan Lebotard is. Yeah,
(05:39):
he was a former columnist and nowhe does that show with his dad
or got a Stuttgard or something orwhat the hell? Stutgard's a city in
Germany. I guess Stugas or stutsYeah, Stuart dad and Stuttgart is in
Germany. His dad, No,that's his funny. His dad's on a
lot though. Right, well, anyways, okay, you don't know anything
(05:59):
about it's a stuff and thaying likethey used to have a daily show.
He was a Miami columnist. Yes, he finally got something right. It
was he was they did. Hisshow was on a ESPN radio for a
while. Now they just do theirown thing. Pirate radio is what they
call it. This is that's PatMcAfee. They stream it and it's on
YouTube. So do you agree? He said this morning that the reason the
(06:21):
people do not like Yoki is becausehe's not American's terrible reasoning. But but,
but, but here's my do youknow anyone that follows the NBA that
doesn't not doesn't like yokich I havenever ever met anyone that follows the league
(06:44):
that says, I just don't likeyokich I don't like his game. So
what did you just make that assumptionbecause because he didn't get the MVP Award
or that maybe he's not massively there'snot a massive appeal to him. Well,
he sounds like a cool guy.He doesn't really care for the spotlight.
Well that that's that's that's the point. He doesn't do endorsements, he
(07:04):
doesn't do all these other things. He just does yeah, because he just
doesn't. This isn't Mike Trout andBaseball that needed a face of the sport.
They don't need a face of thesport that that sport does find by
itself. Baseball needed one. Andmy drugs. No, I'm good.
I don't want to be the faceof the sport. And I know he's
kind of changed his tune on thata little bit now, But but I
(07:25):
don't think I've ever met anybody hewas a sports fan who likes the NBA,
who watches it, who goes, yeah, he's not I don't like
Yokichen. I'd find him, Idon't know, unfavorable. I thought was
the oddest take to ever. Hesaid, Well, if he was magic
or he's a combination. He said, he's the combination of magic and bird.
And he's not popular here because he'snot American. I just thought it
(07:46):
was one of the dumbest things I'veever heard. If you're okay, so
I can't you watch it all thetime. It's not when you said that,
I have you ever heard anyone brothersbrothers kill you. He'll kill you.
But his brothers or they're like gangsterbrothers. Oh, they're huge and
they're scary. You talk, youtalk, you talk um, you talk
(08:09):
smack to them. They were theykill I thought my homes brother was bad.
These guys are worse. My homebrother isn't bad. He's not gonna
hurt you. Yeah, he's goingto jail. He's going to prison.
He's going to prison for assaults. No, as you guys know, I
don't follow the NBA anymore. Butif you tell me that somebody's somebody's a
combination. Wait a minute, somebodytells me you're a combination of burden magic,
(08:31):
I think I'm gonna like watching you. No, but that wasn't That's
not his point. Point is thathe's the He's saying that he's a great
player, he's the combination of burdenmagic, but Americans don't like him because
he's not American, and I've neverheard anyone. He's a basketball fan who
resides in this country. He says, I don't like him because he's not
American. I don't want to jumpthe gun. But he's wrong. I
don't think Americans don't like it.He just he's quiet. He plays in
(08:56):
Denver, which is a big mediamarket, but it's Denver. Jim make
a pole? Do you like? And tag labatory? Okay? And then
tag and then and then tag shootguard? Is no all these European guys
that come over and play, don'twe I mean, do you I don't
like him because he's to know, because he flopped a lot, had a
reason to not like. Hey,do you think majority people in America like,
(09:20):
like, do they love Luca?Because he's out there, he's he's
flamboyant on the court, he's youknow, he's he's he's social social media,
but he's just very out and helikes the public eye. Just Yoki
doesn't like the public eye. Hejust yeah, you'd rather go on.
I guess he lives on a farm. Well, an old school is like
me like guys and you mentioned hisbest trade as his passing, So I
(09:43):
mean this guy likes to pass theball. I mean, most guys in
the NBA don't necessarily like to passthe ball, do they. Okay,
let's get to it. Huh hitthe music lineback to the picture and struck
outs winging high drive deep Phil,Wait, baby right, goodbye? Hold
(10:05):
about a tasker, Hernandez canmarts havea two one league, Julio, good
food, it's good U second neckthree one murders. There you go,
big, Thanks the Root Sports,Dave Sam's, Aaron Goldsmith, they're on
the call. Thank you to RootSports, a GI menting, Bill Krueger
(10:28):
and our very own Brad Adam whowas on today. Who else do we
need to think? Ryan Rowland Smith, Alison Ross Fletcher Ross that can we
thank you? Yeah we can.Yeah, guy, we need, we
need the guy that does can RossFletcher on the voicemails call back. We
haven't heard from him a while.Seasons over him and Allison down at Dino's
(10:52):
just getting hammered. They're all winningEmmy's over there they are geting. Congratulations
to Alison and oh Nate big Banks. Hey, that was for the first
time all season kind of felt likean old school clean that felt familiar like
(11:13):
that, like that nice after gameyou have upstairs you cuttle up two.
That was nice for one, gotit from the offense, long ball,
great starting pitching, and oh it'snice to have Anthony Munios back playing Anthony.
Yeah, pitching a hundred a fewtimes. They're Anthony Munio's tackle Bengals,
right, yeah, yeah, that'sall right. No, Munio is
(11:33):
great to have him back. Soyou bolstered that bullpen. You mentioned the
two home runs, Taio's been hot. I haven't been a fan of his,
and now I'm more all your back. But the interview with Brad Adam
afterwards, you can tell he's sodamn likable and so you really want to
like this guy, of course,Yeah, absolutely, he's like a Mariner
right fielder said. We said thatin the day one. I remember we
(11:54):
had the discussion when we went towhen I went to the opening day thing,
you know that like the fan festthing, and he was interacting with
everybody in right field, and Itold you that this guy will be a
fan favor. He will be great. Yeah, seven for fifteen on the
trip, Like you don't think therewere any highlights from Texas, but he's
coming around swinging the bad bet Okay, say hit well in Texas a little
bit. But I mean they're inblowouts, you know, that's the thing.
(12:15):
But but good for him though,But it's a good signal for him,
You're right, Yeah, I mean, if you got an over for
fifteen, you'd be like a maneven in a blowout. He can't.
Yeah, no, I mean, you're right. All these different things had
happened last night, typical of whatwe're used to seeing the Mariners last year
and some games earlier this season.Although I will point out that that is
a losing team they beat last yeis it okay? Although how can that
(12:35):
be a losing team? I meanyou think you think things are bad here
with the Mariners? Yeah, Imean, if you're a San Diego Padres
fan right now, that team shouldbe a helpful lot better. Well,
of course, when you have ateam that's tatts, Machado and one Soto
they're hitting one ninety six with runnersand scoring, well, that that is
(12:58):
the other side that you have toknow the cost an airy tale. Now,
again, not all these guys werefree agents. These were some of
these were trades guys that they acquiredthat did give big money to. So
it's not like they just go outand here's the difference between like the Mets
and the Padres. Not like theyjust went out and bought everyone. I
mean a lot of it. Theydid do that too as well, but
they also crafted their team via trade, so and then the candidate big contracts
(13:22):
out after that. But I guessthere is no right or wrong way to
do it. Their way isn't workingas of yet. It doesn't mean that
they can't have that skill set.I think we talked about this yesterday.
I would think with that lineup topto bottom that you would think they have
a better chance to be able toturn around than the Mariners would be these
(13:43):
I think, well, I thinkyou're right. That's probably why you think
that. Now you see those guysone after another, three, four or
five, these all stars, potentialHall of famers that aren't playing up to
that level anywhere near it. Imean San Diego Padres couple hitting worse than
the Mariners, but you know lastnight the Mariners they did have a lot
of strikeouts, but you know theyhad timely hitting and all that stuff.
(14:05):
Well her nand is. I thinkthe encouraging thing about tay Oscar was in
that at bat with honeywell, greatname, by the way, he got
down to it. And then whathe did was something that I think he
hasn't done all season long. Thatguy threw him three straight pitches that were
outside, wanted him to chase it, every single one of them, and
he didn't do it. The scoutingreport says, yeah, just throw it
(14:26):
away, throw it away, andhe didn't do it. Yeah, so
that's a big step. He laidoff it. Then gets, uh,
you know one a ball that kindof hangs up right over the middle of
the plate, and he took itout. But that was probably, of
anything, was the most encouraging sign, not the I mean the home run.
Even if he got a hit,The fact is that he didn't swing
at three pitches that were clearly notstrikes, which he has done routine,
(14:46):
and followed it up with an RBIsingle in the eighth. Insurance trends there
and needed that. Oh yeah, she won't need If it had been two
to one, it would have been, oh, he's gonna blow a save
here. One how nervous on ascale to one did tend to see make
you when he comes in a game. Yeah, And it's safe situation because
I don't I'll be honest with him, and I don't like him in a
(15:07):
safe situation well at all. Yeah, it's funny you say that because I
think he's twelve or twelve, Iknow, but yet it seems like every
one of those twal traffic it's it'sshaky and it looks like he's living on
borrowed time out there. And yethow can you say that when he's been
perfect Because it doesn't feel comfortable,No, it doesn't. Moono's is there,
and when Brash is right, itfeels better seawalled, Like didn't you
(15:28):
think he's gonna blow it last night? First and second with one out?
Because he just and it's it's probablyus just being because we're just so used
to guys throwing one hundred and ninetynine and this, you know, a
slider that's you know, jumping offthe plate and all that kind of stuff,
and he just doesn't he doesn't possessthat he throws that slider that Krueger
doesn't like. He wants it togo down more than horizontal wrecked. And
(15:50):
then he just doesn't have a blazingfastball, and so it's it's almost he
pitches the contact, which it's scaryat times for a closer. When he's
putting that role, it makes menervous. But to your point, does
it get the job done? Yes, but it does make me ner Yeah,
every time he comes in no where, Whereas if if he had monos
as your closure, you probably wouldn'tfeel the same way. And I get
(16:11):
their strategy. I mean they liketo use monios in those high leverage situations.
I mean I wish they had moreof a uh, you know,
a situation. I would like tojust to see how they gotta get brash
right, But I'd like to seejust monos. I mean, that's it.
That's eight nine and we'll find somebodyin seventh. That's what I would
like to see, the more traditionalway of bullpin set up, how we
grew up with it. I thinkthat's what they want to do. It
(16:32):
appears this way. I don't wantto go into the safe guy. I
mean pretty much all see but theybut they don't. They like the strategy
of just using If they had touse monos in the sixth ending of a
two three two run name with thetop of the order going to come up,
They're gonna use them there. Yeah, it makes sense, But On
the other hand, I think theyoverthink it sometimes. But don't we owe
(16:52):
we overthink everything. Don't we overthinklife? Probably? Johnny Cans has got
a new story up right now atJohn Kanzano dot com. PAC twelve Schools
members have agreed on terms in grantof rights. This will pave the way
now for the new media media deal. They remaining on reading from John Kanzano
dot com. You can read itJohn Kanzano dot com, Make a donation,
(17:15):
subscribe. This guy's something like that. Guys the best in the business.
Okay, best in the business.Remaining PAC twelve conference members have finalized
the terms of their grant of rights, sources tell John. Contract includes a
variety of elements that all ten schoolsneeded to agree on and appears they have.
(17:36):
Among the items, the grant ofrights includes what sponsorships the PAC twelve
centralized, versus left for individual campusesto sell, what sets of rights the
conference can sell, and how therevenue will be split among the ten members.
School even shares postseason incentives. Overthe last few months, a member
of the PAC twelve CEO group toldhim, we have negotiated all of these
(17:59):
issues and the grants of right thegrant of rights is ready to go.
The length of the contract will bedictated by the length of the PAC twelves
yet to be finalized media rights deal. But I'm told all ten schools are
ready to sign the rights once themedia deal is concluded to their satisfaction.
Good news. Great news, Yeah, great news. So how much longer
(18:21):
now to the media rights deal?Do you think? Another week or two?
He writes, So I thought thedeal would get done by Thanksgiving,
then by Christmas, then by March. PAC twel presidents and chances are now
being careful to preserve the late springearly summer timeline they reset a couple of
months ago. Summer summer officially beginson June twenty first, in twelve days
now. This does kind of coincidewith the time frame with the Aztecs,
who have been an expansion possibility. If they want to join the PAC twelve
(18:45):
for the twenty fourth season, theyhave until June thirtieth to inform the Mountain
West they are leaving. If theymiss that deadline, the seventeen million Mountain
West Conference exit feed doubles to thirtyfour million. John told yesterday the Pactrol
source said, quote, we can'treally control their deadline. Need to get
our deals done so we can tellthem what they'd get. I would think
(19:10):
they'd work with them though, andtry and get it done by June thirtieth.
I mean, they don't want SanDiego State to be paying that much
to leave the conference to come totheir So yeah, I mean this is
good news. I think we'll havesomething in the next couple of weeks.
So from the way it's found there, what else? There's been that report
coming out of Colorado a Boulder thatthey that's some reporter or I guess podcast
(19:32):
host, and I've been told they'reout. Colorado and Arizona are out.
And John talked to a member ofColorado and said the source involved with the
rights negotiations that it was just astatus update on the pactrol media rights when
we met on the Tuesday's meeting inBoulder, and the regents have added a
(19:52):
special board meeting scheduled for Friday.Washington State is also a Board of Regents
meeting scheduled for this Friday as well. All right, well, they appear
to be unified with this news today. I mean, all these reports that
we think there's gonna be some splinteringinvolved, but you know, Canzano is
the guy to follow when it comesto all this. And John Willney there
(20:15):
at the Mercury News and and whatwe'll see is I would expect them,
And I think was key he saidthat in there that hey, we've got
um the revenue shares. I wouldthink that they were the top schools are
gonna get more money. Makes sense. As much as we don't want to
say that, it test makes sense. Well, I get it. If
(20:36):
you want to try and keep itand you want to incentivize someone from staying,
then then offering them, you know, a chance to earn a little
bit more money. Even postseason revenueshare. Yeah, I see the postseason
one I really really agree with, and I guess to a degree just to
the overall season share. But Ithink if you're one of these teams that
(20:56):
gets in the postseason, like yourorgan you're Washington, let's say, and
you shouldn't have to share it equally. Oh of course not. Why would
you with a team that went oneand eleven, you shouldn't. I wholeheartedly
agree with that. There's no waythat they should if they one of those
teams got in. Let's let's justsay what, Let's use Washington, right,
Washington Washington State were apparently all hateeach other. So if the Huskies
(21:18):
got into the final four, whichI'm gonna bet against by the way,
um, they shouldn't they shouldn't haveto split it evenly. They should get
more money. They're the ones whodid it, not Washington State. Well,
how do you bait? What doyou base it on? You know
what, what what your program's recordwas that year? How many how many
(21:41):
pennies are we going to get that? I don't know. You divide it
up and you just instead of evenlysplit Washington gets whatever that percentage is,
they just get the majority of it, and then you split up Washington and
Oregon will be the you know, hargest saying if we're just using those two
as example, right, because USCwouldn't get anything just using Washington Oregon because
they would be your two probably topschools as of now and Utah probably Utah.
(22:03):
Yeah. Well, I'm just usingWashingtons an example because they're here in
town and where the flagship we love, being the flagship of the house,
especially Gemini Go Dogs, Go Dogs. They should get more. Oh,
I agree, I agree, andI know as a Coog, Well we
should get our fair share too.Well, well, we'll get well,
they'll get their fair share. ButI just think the team that earns it,
just like in basketball, the teamthat earns it and gets in,
(22:26):
Like if Arizona who's one of thetop teams, they get in and they
go to the final four and there'smore money based on it than arizonners should
get more. It just kind ofmakes logical sense. Ye doesn't it.
I don't have a problem. Allright, it's a Wednesday show. Brad
Adam coming up with today at eleveno'clock. Rex Hoggard talking Alfing Golf from

of build my you know, makemy candle brighter, to blow their sound.

(26:06):
and really it's only twenty minutes. In the last three minutes, they
finally just start talking about the RBC. But we'll get to I guess our
thoughts after here in a second. He opened up his press conference today on
his initial comments and his feelings aboutthe merger between the three entities and how
(26:26):
he found out. I got atext message on Monday night, I guess
from Jimmy Dunn saying, Hey,can I give you a call in the
morning? So said sure, Jimmyryning me at about six thirty yesterday morning.
We had to chat. Took methrough the news, took me through
(26:47):
the deal, structure, the deal, What amen for us, what a
men for the DP world? Tour. So yeah, I learned about it
pretty much at the same time everyoneelse did. UM, And yeah,
it was a it was a surprise. UM. I knew there had been
discussions going on, UM in thebackground. I knew that lines of communication
(27:11):
had been opened up. I obviouslydidn't expect it to hop in as as
quickly as it did. UM.But I really think that, you know,
from what I gather, the tourfelt they were in a real position
of strength coming off the back ofthe DP world winning their legal kiss in
London. Um, it's sort ofweakened, um, the other side's position,
(27:32):
and UM, you know they wentin there and you know the way
Jimmy described it, you know,Roy, sometimes you got two idy over
water and you just gotta go forit. Okay, That's how he described
how he found out, So likemost people found out that day. And
then I want to play this nextone and then then we can react to
it. So again he was kindof caught off guard by There's a reoccurring
(27:53):
theme though of this twenty minute pressconference that that I want to get to
and this this does kind of thisnext cut kind of summarize what his message.
Let's be clear about Roy McElroy todayhe was on point and on message
and was briefed and was probably educatedon how to talk today by someone by
some entity because his two and hasreally really changed on how he feels about
(28:18):
this whole agreement. And he wasasked today about the Public Investment Fund and
again is the arm of the SaudiArabian government, okay, and they're paying
for all of this, And hewas asked, do you want them as
a partner or as an enemy. So the one thing that I think was
really misconstrued last yesterday was, youknow, all the headlines were PJ tur
(28:42):
emerges with Live and Live has gotnothing to do with this, right,
I mean, it's the PJ turDP World Tour on the Public Investment Fund
are basically partnering to create a newcompany. You know, this has gotten
you know, I think that's whereI was a little frust created because all
I've wanted to do and all I'vewanted, you know, in the past
(29:04):
year from basically this tournament is toprotect the future of the PJ Tour and
protect the aspirational nature of what thePGA Tour stands for. And I hope
that this does that. But youknow, I think with the headlines being
merges would Live like that's not theI mean, if you look at the
(29:26):
structure of hard structure down this, this new company sits above everything. Jay's
the CEO of that. So technicallyanyone that is involved with Live now I
would answer to J. So youknow, the PJ Tour have have control
of everything. And the one thingas well is, you know, whether
(29:47):
you like it or not, thepif we're going to keep spending money in
golf, at least the PJA turnlike controls how that money is spent,
you know. So i'd you know, if you're thinking about some you know,
one of the biggest sovereign wealth fundsin the world, would you rather
have them as a partner the oran enemy? Um? At the end
of the day, money talks, and you'd rather have them as a partner.
(30:08):
Okay, So I can't decide. There's a couple of things here with
Rory one either he's naive, uneducatedor complicit. So Jet, what do
what do you think it is?Do you think he's naive, He's a
pretty smart guy. Do you thinkhe's uneducated on the subject? Okay,
(30:30):
So that leaves one option he's complicit. He's a guy that today decided that
the money and the greed is moreimportant to him than actually standing up how
he really feels about a subject. He is a complete fool. If he
thinks the PGA Tour is now runningthe PGA Tour, what type of I
(30:52):
honestly, I watched this and Ilaughed. He if he actually believes that
a tour, then Jay Monahan isrunning the PGA Tour, then he's not
as smart as I thought he was, because I always thought that he was
a pretty smart guy. They areworth six hundred and twenty billion dollars,
(31:15):
six hundred and twenty Yeah, Idon't think they're going to just be delegating.
Jay Monahan will have no decisions.Jay Monahan will decide nothing. Jay
Monahan's have figured And I'll be honest, in a year, maybe less,
Jay Monahan will be out of ajob, will no longer be associated with
the PGA tour. That would beI would put up some money on that
that he's out, just as GregNorman is out. This guy runs all
(31:40):
of it. The Saudi Arabian governmentowns professional golf. There is no debate
on this, and I don't know. And I was almost offended that he
sat up there and and try toinsult the intelligence of golf fans and then
the reporters asking the questions because hecame back to this same talking point routine.
(32:00):
Oh no, I keep hearing thesame thing. They don't own us,
what are you talking about? Well, how can he say it doesn't
involve live too? It's all aboutlive. It's like whether the live tour
it's here. And here's the thing, Jim, because he goes on later
and say that there's no way theseplayers will be allowed back in. Is
he a fool this whole? Ofcourse Brooks keptca is gonna be allowed back
(32:22):
in? Of course DJ is gonnabe and bright they're gonna be fine.
Well, they're gonna be fine. They've made two hundred million dollars. What's
the fine gonna be? And doyou think the guy who's worth six hundred
twenty billion is not gonna pay themback somehow to make up for the lost
inventory. Here's what Rory McElroy andthe rest of his UH players on the
tour don't realize. It's not livejoining the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour
(32:46):
is joining live. They just don'tknow it yet. They don't understand that
this tour is joining the Saudi Arabiangovernment, is joining the PIFTH what whatever
they want to call it in thefuture. It's not the PGA or anymore.
It's it's well, I heard otherI heard other comments, so from
Rory, you know, talking abouthow he still hates live and he feels
(33:08):
like they're not going to have asmuch of the live concepts at the tournaments.
Has led to believe the team theyou know whatever else shotgun starts and
he's happy about that. But yeah, it's disappointing, you know when you
go. I mean because like RoryMcElroy, I mean, Greg Norman was
my favorite golfer and then I hadto scratch him off the list, and
Little Louis from South Africa. Iliked him and he still like Little Louisa,
(33:30):
but you know, he defected,so I kind of had to,
you know, gap tooth. Okay, get out of here. But now
now, I mean, Rory McElroyis my new favorite, and now I'm
kind of torn about him. Youdon't want to go behind the curtain sometimes
and find out what people are read. But it's just it's just another he's
spent here the last two years. And now he said how I felt used
by the tour. And I believethat he was used by the tour.
(33:50):
He was used by Jay Monahan,he was used by everybody behind the scenes.
But he sat up there and allthese years and talked about all this
and about how well the moral issueand here's the you at this. It's
destroying golf and it's and we needto look where the money's coming from.
And then like that, he justdid a one eighty And he sat up
there for twenty minutes and did aone eighty. Why why do you think
he didn't Because it's greed and money, because it rules, it rules everything.
(34:14):
But we never looked at Rory thatway. Well, well, until
someone offers you this pile of moneyand says change your mind. I mean
he must feel stupid today though, thinking about like what what could they have
if they offered had Deki mata Yamathree hundred million and Fouler seventy five minute,
I mean mc roy must have beenoffered a billion. Okay, he
(34:34):
was asked that, and then heinsulted everybody again by saying I was never
offered money. Shut up. Youare the woman target. Well, you
are, besides Tiger Woods, themost recognizable player in the world. You're
telling me they didn't offer you tocome join them. I mean, give
me a break, Give me abreak. Andrew Brandt tweeted this, and
it's it's exactly right. The SaudiPublic Investment Fund is the ex elusive investor
(35:01):
in the this new golf league theyjust created, correct, exclusive, All
the money is from them. Thefund, which this guy runs, has
a right of first refusal on anynew investment. So tell me again,
Rory and the rest of you guysin the tour, why do you think
(35:22):
Jay Monahan runs the tour that hedoesn't run anything? And again, I'll
say this again, I'm gonna hammerat home live. Is this idea where
we can't let live back in.That's you're missing the point. You're joining
them. That's what's happening. Youjust don't know it yet. It's not
it's not. It's just so funnyhow everything just changed so fast. And
(35:46):
then the ratings for the live tour. I'm gonna get to ratings because I
I and all transparent. I heardSofty and Dick talking about this yesterday and
I want to really put kind ofkibosh on the ratings. Really you're gonna
hammer on them at I'm just gonnaI'm gonna counterpoint what they said yesterday,
(36:06):
because I said, now the ratingsare going to be through through the roof.
The ratings are already through the roof. This has been a record year
for the PGA Tour and it hasnothing to do with Live nothing. So
they were all ready a trajectory thatwas astronomical. In fact, I'll give
you a comparison that the one eventin which will Live guy won was in
(36:27):
the toilet for ratings. So Imean again, you just want compelling golf.
The thing with golf we watched allthe time, there's more compelling golf
played now because these younger guys arebetter than ever. That's what's compelling about
it. All Right, more onthe story, coming back, all right,
bucking the go to guy back herewith you here? And what's up
with that Wednesday? Um Hey,one real a quick thing that I that
(36:52):
I just kind of I glossed over, and that John Kanzano go read the
ladies to John Kanzano John Kanzano dotcom. He's got an article up there
the PAC twelve schools and the Conferencehave finalized the terms of the grant of
rights. They need the grant ofrights before they can do the media deal,
so this is a big step inthe right direction for the PAC twelve.
(37:13):
There's a nugget in there about WashingtonState that, like Colorado, they
have a Board of Regents meeting scheduledfor Friday, and on the agenda there's
Department Revenue. Of course, toyou know their financial situation. They're own
in over there expenses and the planto bring the budget in line. As
John notes, there is another itemon there called and this is very important.
It's called Action Action Item number four, and this action would give President
(37:38):
Kirk Schultzy authority to execute contracts orother agreements related to the university's athletic media
rights. He isn't just as now. He's a He's a member of the
CEO group and he works alongside withKasse at Washington and the Stanford President.
(37:58):
Schultz currently only has the ability tosign anything, the authority to do it
on matters up to five million.Beyond that, he needs to consult with
the Board of Regions. This resolutiongives Schultz the authority to sign the deals,
so if he sees it, hecan just sign. He doesn't need
(38:19):
to go back to Board of Regions. So that's a big step and should
just pass that along. Kind ofglossed over that, all right. The
media, the whole television ratings thing. I heard something Fame. We're talking
about this yesterday and again their pointis if they all get together, and
I get it, like the ratingswill be even better, but the insinuation
like that they need these golfers tobe a part of it for the ratings
is just factually incorrect. This year, if you've been paying attention, has
(38:43):
been the biggest year in television ratingsfor golf, the biggest year, and
now I don't know had something todo with full swing or that these players
are just better now, the wholeScottie Scheffler, John Ram, you know,
Colin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jordan'sspeech, Justin Thompson. This tour,
despite not having Mickelson and cam Smithand DJ and Brooks kept is as
(39:07):
healthy as this sport has ever been. The best players in the world top
to bottom are still on this tour. And so I just started looking at
the TV ratings and sports business Journalhad done an exclusive report on this,
and this was earlier in the year. Through seven events, the ratings are
higher across the board for every event, the Honda Classic and the WGC.
(39:28):
Right, those are two tournaments thathaving anything to do with live. Those
are just the guys on the PGATour, And frankly, the Honda Classic
is kind of and it's going awayexactly right, And the WGC is not
for everyone, but some people likeit. Uh, It's our most watch
tournament in four years was the HondaClassic and the WGC. The Valspar,
(39:51):
which again is not the point inNew Orleans. No Valspar is the snake
pit. Oh yeah, I thinkthat the highest ratings in five years was
the VALSPARGA dot Com Digital has roseeight percent social media across golf, PGA
Tour all their social media platforms upthirty one percent. ESPN Plus saw record
(40:14):
numbers for the Genesis, again hadnothing to do with live elevated event,
the Memorial. The final round ofthe Memorial, which saw Victor Hovland beat
Denny mc Does anyone, honestly yourcasual golf end you know who Denny McCarthy
is, You don't, So justwith Dan don't you don't know who he
is? Was up thirty four percentfrom a year ago. In the final
(40:36):
round thirty four again, not asingle lift player play in the memorial.
Okay, the PG Okay, I'llget to the Masters. The final round
Masters drew twelve million people. Itwas the most watch golf event past five
years now for good reason. Itwas Rom versus Kepko. So you can
make the argument, well, thereit is. There's the example. It's
(40:57):
Brooks kept because the needle mover. He does all of this. As I
saw this yesterday, Well, Brookskept go winning the PGA just kind of
pushed this whole thing. I takethe Masters out because I think that's the
one event that people that are notthat are casual golf viewers tune in the
most because that's the super Bowl ofgolf. It's the Masters. And if
you're gonna watch one event, you'regonna watch the Masters. And John Rom
(41:19):
is an intriguing figure, you know, and probably more so than Brooks.
Kep get is because we've thought Kepcowas done. So I think there's that
plays in a part on those numbersone. It was a great duel to
see those two. They're two thebest players in the world. But more
about John Rumm, number one playerin the world, likable, everyone kind
of likes John rum And it's theMasters. If you're gonna watch one ofvent,
you're gonna watch the Masters. Here'swhy it hadn't. I don't think
(41:42):
anything to do with brooks kepco becausethe PGA Championship that he just won.
Friday's coverage down thirty six percent,Saturday's coverage down eleven percent, Sunday's coverage
down fourteen percent. It was thelowest rated PGA championship. It's two thousand
and eight and it was won bylive golfer. The live influence has nothing
(42:05):
to do with ratings zero and itjust proved it with the PGA Championship,
the lowest in I can't do mathfifteen years. So you think it was
because Ka was in charge. Idon't know, but he's said, okay,
I don't know if it's kept gettingcharge because why would that be the
outlier compared to all those I don'tknow, but why? But if he
was the needle mover that people tryto contend that you desperately need him back
(42:28):
with golf because you need the bestplayers in the world. He beust proved
that that's not true. Elevated ofHere's why golf has been through the roof
this year, the elevated events, and that's a direct result of probably the
influence of live Every elevated event becausethey get the top players in the world
to play in them have been throughthe roof, and they've all been won
by the top players that are remaining. They're up thirty the RBC earlier this
(42:51):
year, Speed versus Fitzpatrick up thirteenpercent, most watched RBC event since two
thousand and two. Theses are better, so you attract those better players.
Now you the counter to that ifthey would say, well, the ratings
will be even more when those guyscome back. I acknowledge that. Yeah,
but it's not like the PGA Tourwas sitting this year. Going ratings
(43:14):
are in the dump. We betterget those guys back. Yeah, Well,
people weren't flocking. People weren't flockingto watch live golf like you and
I big golf fans. But Ididn't watch a single minute on YouTube or
CW or wherever they were. Andand I like watching Keep Gay and DJ
and Patrick Reid, Cam Smith,I like all those guys. I mean,
I like that Denny McCarthy's of theworld, but I I wasn't gonna
(43:35):
make it. Doug Gim, DougGim. I'll watch Doug Gim too.
Michael Kim. I like. Ilike Chez Reeve because he looks like he's
got the flat brimmed hat. He'skind of seawaldish. You know, he's
chubby. He is chubby. Yeah, but he's got a great swing and
he's a short hitter that hits atwo eighty five. Yeah, I'll watch
(43:55):
no matter what. But I wasn't. Yeah, I mean, well,
I kept like following him. Ithink it's a falsehood to sit there and
say you need these guys back forratings. It just this has been a
record year. Now next season,I'll tell you what's going to be through
the roof is that Netflix series FullSwing? That thing is going to be.
And I don't know if they werein the meeting. Someone says they
were, and others said that theyweren't in the meeting, But well,
(44:17):
I guess we'll find out if theywere not allowed in that players on the
meeting where Grayson Murray told Rory McElroyf off All right. Brad Adam coming
up next week,
