Everybody is first home runs A twoone see on the league. Hey,
flat ball, late field, bigdrive by rows, this gold te
Shroll's home run. I'm gonna pitchit over whoa all right there he is

(00:50):
the man of the hour, DaveSimms, always the man of the hour.
Big thanks to Root Sports for lettingus play those highlights on the radio
show, because the guy he wasdescribing today, A Bryce Miller was absolutely
sensationally joined us right now on theradio show. Bryce, how are you
man? I'm great, I'm great. Good to get a get a sweet

(01:11):
Well, it's great to have youon the show. You were unbelievable today,
man, six innings, one hit, one earned, seven k's,
one walk. Give us kind ofa thought on what you thought was really
working out there for you against thatred offense today. Man, yeah,
it was. It was a goodday. Early on, I felt like
I didn't really have have the beststuff today, but it's one of those

(01:33):
days where he's got to figure itout. And you know, the splitter
has been big for me all yearand then uh, today we were working
the sinker back door and it wasreally working. And correct me if I'm
wrong, But those weren't pitches thatyou relied on last year. A lot
of those you've worked on in theoff season. Just talk about your work
ethic over the last six months orso to develop something other than your four

(01:56):
seamer. Yeah, yeah, no, both of those are are pretty new
pitches for me. The splitter waswas added this offseason and it's been been
huge for me so far. Iadded the sinker like mid season last year,
but it was something that I wasn'tvery comfortable with and something I worked
on quite a bit of this offseasonas well. But yeah, going into

(02:19):
the off season, I knew Ineeded to attack lefties better and I needed
to get them out a little moreefficiently. So that's kind of where the
idea for the splitter came and sofar, you know, things have been
going well. Yeah, I'd saythey're going very well. Bryce Miller is
with us today. Phenomenal start forhim today against the Reds. DMS get
to sweep against Cincinnati. And Idon't know if you're a superstitious guy or

(02:40):
not, but if you are,I won't mention the numbers the last three
games. I'll just say you've beenphenomenal. But what's been the difference for
you since that first start against Boston? Talk about kind of rebounding from that
game and what the last three gameshave meant to you. Yeah, No,
they last three have been really good. I think I felt like I

(03:00):
threw the ball well in the firstgame as well. I just got got
hit by that three run home run, and I was kind of falling behind
in some counts, you know, the first game against Boston, and so
the last few weeks I've been tryingto, you know, be in better
counts and get ahead, and uh, it's uh, it's been going well.
So hopefully we keep a rolling doyou and Logan and George kind of

(03:24):
have a hey, let let meshow you what I can do type thing.
I mean George Co's out and goessix innings, gives up five hits,
two runs. Then Logan's unbelievable yesterday. Now you're unbelievable. Do you
kind of like pass the baton andtry to try to pay a little one
up on the guy that started infront of you? Uh No, not
really. I mean it's it's funwatching all of us go out and throw.

(03:45):
You know, every day you gotyou got somebody that's gonna go out
and compete and give you linked andgo out and throw throw the ball.
Well, we're all kind of kindof unique but similar, and it's like
I said, it's just really funto go go watch everybody throw and go
out and compete. Yeah, yeah, definitely. It's it's fun to watch,
you know them have success and thenfeel like you got to follow it

(04:05):
up. Well, four days ago, you guys are six and ten,
and your skipper came out today andsay, we just need to get guys
off their iPads in the dugout. That's not the bullpen, that's the dugout.
Maybe it's the hitter's problem, notthe pictures problem. But tell me
about kind of what was said behindthe scenes to kind of get this thing
sparked the last couple of days.Yeah, I don't. I don't know.

(04:27):
I saw that on Twitter, actually, but I'm not I'm not in
the hitters meetings, so I guessI kind of have noticed that there's been
less iPad But I'm I'm whatever.I'm not pitching. I like to look
at them sometimes. I like towatch you know, other pictures though,
or watch you can you can learna lot from that stuff, but hey,
whatever, whatever's working. Yeah, did it. Did it feel like

(04:49):
there was kind of a sense ofurgency maybe the last couple of days that
hey, before this thing kind ofgets into a bigger hole, we got
to figure a way out of thishole. Was there kind of a sense
of urgency you think during this RedSeries? No, I mean, I
wouldn't say it was anything different.You know, it's it's a long season
and there's a lot of games,so we're definitely not We're not gonna panic

(05:15):
in the first fifteen games of theyear. So it's uh, you know,
trust in the process and just goout and compete, you know,
go one pitch at a time, one at bad at the time, and
and you know, string together somewins and we're right back in it,
So it's we definitely weren't weren't inpanic mode. Today's winner today, Bryce
Miller joining us here at Jimmy's onfirst on ninety three point three KJFM.

(05:35):
Bryce Softy was mentioning earlier on theshow that you have so many dominant outings
and very few times you'll go outand have rough starts. But there's a
huge gap between your normal outing andyour rough outing. So maybe more so
than a lot of starting pitchers whoare maybe kind of more in the middle.
What what separates those dominant domino outingsthat you have like three quarters of

(05:55):
the time versus the other one quarterthat you get roughed up. I'd say,
you know, just being in goodcounts is one of the main things.
You know, it's whatever you digyourself a whole, you kind of
you give the hitter an advantage andthen you know, letting them letting those
outings kind of snowballs where like I'vegotten in trouble like last year. I

(06:19):
was. I was cruising last yearat the beginning of the year, and
then I gave up eight against theYankees and seven against Texas back to back.
So it was like, yeah,it hit me quick. But it's
the main thing is like you know, just going out and attacking, getting
ahead with my stuff and whatever. You know, there's back to back hits
or hitting a walk, like justtrying to shut the ding down and not

(06:42):
not letting anything snowball and get outof hand. Well, you were amazing
today, man, and congratulations you'veearned a start at Texas next Wednesday in
the launching pad, you know,Arlington Stadium. So go get him on
Wednesday against the Rangers. Man,great job tonight, and we'll talk soon.
Body appreciate him, man, Yes, sir? All right, Bryce
Miller with us on the radio show. Good to hear from him. After
a sensational start for Bryce Miller todayagainst Cincinnati, his last three starts nineteen

(07:08):
and a third one ear run,a point four to six ERA and a
point six y two whip for BryceMiller. How about that? I will
sign up for that. And nowyou've got your three best pitchers rolling right
now, and let's see if youcan get Luis up to somewhere close to
what these guys, other three guyshave been. Ah, what do you
say we come back and hear fromthe skipper. He told the guys to

(07:29):
get off the iPads and they listen. Scott's servis a little bit from him
after today's sweep of the Reds.Next on ninety three to three KJRFM.
