It's only worth it if you enjoy it. Seattle Sounders
FSEE is presented by Gallagher Benefits and HR consult Team,
helping businesses, communities and people face their futures with confidence.

(00:24):
The Provident Swedish Premat Show starts now well for.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
What is hopefully not the final time here in twenty
twenty five. Welcome to lumin Field for Sounders FC Soccer.
It is do or die, win or go home however
you want to put it. It's Game two in the
first round of the MLS Cup playoffs and your Seattle
Sounders must win tonight here against Minnesota or else those

(00:52):
season will come to an end. Where right now the
rain at Luminfield is staying off and we hope that
it stays dry in this little bit chillier evening here
in Seattle. The weather has certainly turned here to November.
It is his playoff time here at Luminfield for the Sounders,
and this is where they do their best business in
the playoffs here at home. Hopefully they can get a

(01:15):
win and keep the season alive. Today we welcome you
to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Provident,
Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders. EVS Jackson Felts
alongside mister two five to three, the Sounder legend, Lamar Nagel.
We're counting down to kickoff, and we're gonna count fast.
It is gonna be a breeze because kickoffs not coming
in forty minutes like usual. It's coming in twenty five minutes,

(01:38):
seven fifty five.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Kickoff here tonight at.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Lewminfield for Sounders and Minnesota United here in the playoffs.
So lamar, with that, let's jump right in to what
Brian Schmitzer is doing tonight here with his starting lineup,
and there is a major change the normal Stephen Fryan
gold knew who Aleks, rol Don Jackson, Reagan, Yimar Gomez Androtti.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
That's the back for.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Christian Roldan Obed Vargas. You're holding midfielders. That's normal. But
here's the change, Lamar. Jordan Morris is going to be
what's actually being listed by Brian Spencer as a four
to four to two. That's another topic as well to
talk about, so we'll list it exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
How Brian schpenzer lit'st is four to four two.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
The other two midfielders or Albert Rusnak and Haes who's Ferrera,
Jordan Morris and Danny Muzovsky replacing Paul Rothrock in the
starting lineup. Moose up top with Jordan Lamar. Welcome to
the show. Let's jump right in. It's Moose for Paul.
What do you think of the change?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I mean, at this point, right in the last game,
they need to score goals. You put a guy up
who has a ton of goals, get him on the
field and try to get him comfortable early. Obviously him
and Jordan connected in the last game a few times,
so hopefully we can do that early and convert quickly.
Use the word early.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
And I think that's such an important point that we're
going to talk about here for the next twenty minutes,
and that is the element of the longer this game
goes to things happen, Lamar.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
The rain will come.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
It's scheduled to start raining at some point during the
second half to night, and you don't want this match
zero zero when the rain comes, and also be it
gives Minnesota a lot of confidence with this game scoreless.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Yeah, I mean teams regardless, if you were coming into
this and you had any type of style of play,
you would want this to go zero zero coming up
against the Seattle Sounders, team like this for as long
as possible, Right, if we can get into PKS, if
we can get back home, you know, maybe that's okay.
But a team that actually sits back, they definitely want
it to be zero zero for as long as possible.

(03:33):
Get a couple opportunities in themselves, maybe they convert one,
and it's always funny. One of the interesting things for
a team like that, it really changes if they actually
score early, then they sit back even more and then
Sounders end up coming at them, which actually can play
against them.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
Quite a bit. So it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
It will be this Minnesota lineup. We won't give you
the whole thing, Danny Jackson can do that here in
a few minutes, but we will tell you that they
have a mid and Robin Ludd playing as their loan striker.
Bongi huong Wane, who was the striker at the top
last game, in game one, he's playing right wing back.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Today.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Minnesota has a very unique system and that's so hard
to break down. Now, Lamark, go back to the line
up there. Functionally, we'll see how it functions. But right now,
as Brian Spencer listed, it's a four to four to
two with Jesus Ferira and no Bed Vargas, Christian old
Don Albert Rusnak that four midfield combo in what positions?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I don't know how good work, yeah, but I'm wondering.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Listed as a four and four to two, how do
you think this actually might play.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
I mean, I think it's gonna play the way that
they played last time, but I think this might be
a mentality thing. Jordan, your job is to get high,
so it may look like that at times. Obviously, Danny's
gonna be the one that's stretching on the most, be
the one that's in.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
The box, probably not gonna drift out to the side.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
But this might give Jordan freedom to go kind of
wherever he wants and wherever he sees fit. If he
was getting opportunities the last game. Okay, can you do
this on the right? Can you do it on the left?

Speaker 5 (05:02):
How else can you play?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
So it may be a lot more fluid than we've
seen before, and this may just give him that opportunity.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Is that fluidity good to go against the team like
Minnesota who may sit nine behind the ball.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
I mean they're disciplined, right, That's why they've conceded so
little goals, so they know exactly what they're doing. They
have a game plan. But if Jordan can pop up
in spaces that they're not used to him popping up in,
or if they think four to four to two, oh,
this is where he's gonna be, they're not used to it.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
On the other side, and he pops up there, that'd
be a great thing. And I think they can do
that with the fluidity. Jordan's a smart player and he
can get opportunities.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
All those Sounders will need those opportunities, they'll need those goals.
A bunch from Jordan this year obviously the all time
stole scoring leader for Sounders FC that he became here
in twenty twenty five. Mizoski, you mentioned a bunch of
goals sixteen across all competitions. I mean, gosh, if there
was odds from Vegas for Danny Mazowski sixteen goals at
the start of the year. That would have made every

(05:54):
Seattleite quite rich to put a bet on that amazing
year from Danny Mazoski. They're gonna need it to continue.
Here today it is du or die, winner go home
for the Seattle Sounders. Will quickly dive into the Providence
Swedish Team Health Report, which is as always presented by
Providence Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Okay,
so for this we have some very very good news,

(06:17):
and that is that we now see the return of
Ryan Kent. He's coming back from a hamstring injury and
he is available for head coach Brian Schmitzer off the bench.
Kimki Hee coming nearing back from the calf strain, but
he is still not available for Brian Schmitzer. Yet We're
still close here on Kim Ki He. Peter Dalelevega obviously

(06:38):
the extremely sad news from a couple weeks ago he
got that fractured patella in the Decision Day match in
New York City. He is not available for the next
six months in his recovery. And also of course we
have Paul Ariol out with the ACL We'll take a break.
We'll come back on the pre match show and we'll
talk about this Minnesota United team.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
We'll talk more about their system housed.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
The Seattle Sounders can break them down and get a
win here tonight, hopefully in regulation, hopefully we don't have
to go to penalty kicks. We'll continue on the pre
match show presented by Providence to be just next on
the Sounders FC radio stream channel on iHeartRadio.

Welcome back to Limcfield and the Rematch Show presented by Providence, Swedish.
Seattle Sounders, Minnesota, United. Tonight is the first round of
the MLS Cup Playoffs. It's a best of three series.
Minnesota leads one nothing on the Seattle Sounders, so this
game is win or go home for Seattle. They must
win here tonight to keep the season alive. Well, let's

(10:37):
talk a little bit about minnesota sixteen eight and ten
compared to Seattle's fifteen nine and ten, So they're not
divided by much.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
They are only divided by two goals. Seattle has two more.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
But Minnesota one of the absolute best defensive teams in
the league. Thirty nine goals conceded, second lowest in the West,
third lowest in the entire league, a plus seventeen goal
different and lamar, we're just talking off the air. Let's
continue here. Look, Eric Ramsey is Minnesota's head coach.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
He's my age.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Thirty three years old, and his one excitable young thirty
three year old. I understand that sometimes big moments can
be big for these kind of people. So for Eric Ramsey,
he's had these big moments Lamar where he's been an
assistant with Manchester United, and he comes to MLS. You know,
early in last season.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
The year was already going. We were a month into
the campaign last year.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Eric Ramsey comes into Minnesota and starts to enact this
defensive system that basically says, and I wonder how much
of the experience in EPL may have gotten into this.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
You can shed some light because I'm thinking that he
may have come into this league.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Can you understood a few things out early on and said, Okay,
offensive players in this league are gonna make mistakes more
often than not, They're gonna make big mistakes. Let's sit back,
let's capitalize on him. And it does feel like that
system is very, very six against any opponent.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Yeah, it's absolutely worked for him, But I mean he
also came into the right situation, has the right players
for it. Maybe he recognize that and adjusted his game.
Maybe he had the game and then went out and
got the players, or the players just happened to fit.
I think coming in with confidence, coming in with that
pedigree of where he was before, and honestly, when it
starts to when it starts to work, that probably catches

(12:23):
home with the guys and that confidence builds in them
and how he's been instructing them to play. And then
that's just something that you've seen this entire year. They've
bought in and that that culture in a club is
absolutely massive. If you get guys, especially leaders on the
team to buy in quickly and guys fall in line
and you have a little bit of a success, it
can be an absolute like it just starts to build

(12:45):
out right, Yeah, absolutely, And that's exactly what we're seeing now.
They're buying into a plan. Young coach, old coach, doesn't matter,
they're getting results. The guys are confident.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Well, you know something, you know a number of things
at about building that kind of culture. I mean, especially
with BALLARDFC, right, what you are trying to build a
culture with something so new and Eric Ramsey's sort of
similar element where trying to just build something out of
nothing and how quickly I mean for a guy so young,
he's certainly has players on that roster who are not
only his age, but are who are older than him.

(13:17):
So he comes in as a thirty two year old
last year and basically says no, guys, we're gonna play
this way. It's kind of amazing he's been able to
build that culture so quickly with such intense buy in.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah, it absolutely is. But again, if you have confidence,
if you can see results again with the pedigree that
he's coming in, players know that he came from a
space where it was really high level and he understood
and he was a student of that for a while.
And now they're starting to implement it. Like I said,
with a little bit of success, even a few games,
you can get on a roll. And if you keep

(13:49):
that culture and keep those older guys bought in, those
leaders bought in, then everything within the club starts to change.
I don't have any insight within the club with how
the front office runs and everything like that. When the
team is on a role like this or and they're
bought in, it seems like the whole club is.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
It absolutely does feel like that Minnesota where it's been
a totally new leaf. You know, before this year, Minnesota
had ever only ever won one game against the Sounders.
Now suddenly they have four total wins here after twenty
I mean, this has been a massive culture shift and
they're so good on set pieces as well. I know
Lamar will have his keys to the match in the
next segment. I would just say for me, you know,

(14:27):
we know scoring early is important, but cannot.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Give up a goal to Minnesota. And they are so
so good on set pieces.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Absolutely have to mark them perfectly today with Jackson and
with Yamar and with everybody else.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Cannot allow them a set piece goal which they are
so so good at.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
We'll take a break, we'll come back, give you very
quickly our players to watch and give you keys to
the match. Sounders must win tonight to keep the season alive.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
It's the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (14:51):

next on the Sounders FC radio stream channel and iHeartRadio.

(18:21):
are your keys to this match for Seattle?

Speaker 5 (18:23):
Keys to the match score early.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
I mean the way that they're going to score is
by moving the ball quickly, beating a man and then
finding the open guy. And I think Jordan Morris is
going to play a lot into this.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Love that let's get too quickly player to watch, because
you mentioned Jordan right there, Sounders needed early goal. He's
gotten many many early goals across his career.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Here ya talk about him.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
He is my player to watch and it might not
even be him scoring a goal. It might be him
getting the assist, but it's going to be him creating chances.
And I think that's huge for him. This is an
opportunity for you know, Danny Maczowski came in as sixteen goals.
This is a chance for Jordan Morris to make his
stamp on the postseason.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
In this season, we think.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
About the final twenty minutes of Game one. That is
where the success came, Jordan out on the right, crossing
it into Danny. That is where they found success. Hopefully
we can get that from the jump here and for
ninety minutes against Minnesota because we must win to keep
the season alive, because this is it. Game two here
at Lumanfield is the boom boom clap brings down. My
player to watch very quickly is Stephen Fry Because the

(19:27):
Sounders are the five seed. We may not have another
home match here at Lomanfield, and I understand that there's
lots of different contract things and things going on in
the world, and you never know what may happen for
the player's future. There is a universe out there, hopefully
it's not this one, but there is a universe out
there where this is the final home game for Stephan

(19:47):
Fry and that makes me very emotional. Sounder for twelve
years and one of, if not the greatest to ever
done the Rave Green.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
He is an absolute legend.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
And I if this is the final time we to
watch step frye at Luminfield, that's gonna make me and
quite a few fans I know, quite emotional.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
But let's let it not be.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Let's win this game and let's get through, and let's
find another home game and let's continue the run in
the playoffs. Danny Jackson, Pete Ewing, Michelle Ludcott.

rams of cards. It's only worth it if you enjoy
it and by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle
Sounders FC. Now time for SOUNDERSFC Sucker.

Speaker 29 (23:13):
Good evening, Sounders fans from EQUC pitch here at lumen
Field where your Sounders face Minnesota United in the second
game of the first round of the twenty twenty five
MLS Playoffs. Minnesota will come into Lumenfield tonight full of confidence.
Their win on penalties in the first game of the
series last week was their third win this season versus

(23:34):
the Sounders, a three to two win here in June
is the only defeated at home for the Sounders this
year and the first win in Seattle for Minnesota in
their MLS history. For Your Sounders, a third clean sheet
in the last four games was not enough to earn
that win in Minnesota, and the Sounders are now playing
from behind, needing two wins from the next two games

(23:55):
to advance to the next round.

Speaker 9 (23:57):
But the Sounders will.

Speaker 29 (23:58):
Take confidence in their home form this year and seeking
some revenge on the only team that left Lumenfield this year.
With those three points, it's a must win time here.
Lose and your season is over. Win and you head
to Game three. I'm Danny Jackson alongside Formaciatlee University head
coach Pete Fewing here in the booth and Michelle Ludka

(24:18):
down on the sidelines. Before we get to Pete and
Michelle for their initial thoughts, let's get you the delta.
Starting eleven for Your Sounders. A couple of changes for
Brian Schmittz, but not in the back line. Seven Frying
Golaback for rolled on. Yemar Reagan Knew who obed alongside
Christian rolled on again.

Speaker 9 (24:37):
In the middle of the park.

Speaker 29 (24:39):
Jordan Morris will shift on the right hand side, Albert
Rasnak in the ten, Jesus Ferrera on that left, and
then fourteen gold man in MLS season so far, Danny
Masoski will play up front for Eric Ramsey and his
Minnesota team. Back line of five will sit in front
of Dan Sink, player who won goalkeeper of the Year today,

(24:59):
Diaz Vauxhall, Romero Rosales on the right, market Nick on
the left, Trianti's trap, Perero in your midfield, players.

Speaker 9 (25:06):
Lud and then long one A is your outlet up front.

Speaker 29 (25:10):
As the Sounders get us going here attacking the south
end the goal to our right in this first half,
not usual for the sound as they prefer to play,
of course to the north end and finish the second
half attacking the goal to our right. They're in their
anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts, white sox, and then
very much like last sweet Minnesota and there all black kit,
they'll be attacking the north end, the goal to our left,

(25:32):
and Pete, I'll just say it now and.

Speaker 9 (25:35):
Set the stage.

Speaker 29 (25:35):
It's gonna be much of what we've seen last week
and really last three games against Minnesota this year. Bank
of five, bank of four protecting the goalkeeper and then
long one a is you're outlet and we've already seen
it in the first few minutes.

Speaker 30 (25:47):
Yeah. Absolutely. I don't think Minnesota has even got into
the Sounders half thus far. They are going to pack
the box. They'll be very happy to be zeros at halftime,
still happier to be zero at the end of the game.
So we've got to crack him early. We saw what
work that was on the right hand side, Jordan Morris
getting three crosses in in a very short span near
the end of the game. More of that tonight.

Speaker 29 (26:09):
It comes rolled on, whips it in, headed away by
Boxel who longs to throw those balls in from deep
on those long throws, but this time heading the ball away,
knew who far side the left has it as he
rolls the ball back to Jackson Reagan as eleven Minnesota
men behind the ball.

Speaker 9 (26:24):
As the ball gets whipped him from the left, bounces
through to Alex hold on right corner of the.

Speaker 29 (26:27):
Eighteen yard Box takes a touch, comes to his left
foot and strikes it goes wide over the top. It's
gonna be a goal kick four Minnesota early minutes here,
Neil nil and with that we're gonna throw it down
to Michelle Good Evening.

Speaker 25 (26:39):
Michelle Good, evening, Danny.

Speaker 31 (26:41):
As we've been talking throughout the pregame and into the
start of this match, that this is a two teams
that are very familiar with each other. The Sounders have
already seen Minnesota three times in twenty twenty five, unfortunately
Minnesota winning in all of those matches, including last week's
playoff match.

Speaker 25 (26:56):
Interestingly enough, Minnesota is the only.

Speaker 31 (26:59):
Visiting team to have won a match at Lumenfield this year.

Speaker 25 (27:03):
But with that being noted, I'm gonna pause right there.

Speaker 30 (27:05):
Danny, Here you go.

Speaker 9 (27:05):
Hazus Furer picks it up from the goal kick, rolls
it out b Vans around top of the box.

Speaker 29 (27:09):
Rolled on to the right hand side is Morris, where
it was so dangerous in the last game, cuts back
in his left foot mark by marketing little slip towards
the Endliny goes and then can't quite collect the ball,
goes down over the Endliney goes and Michelle will throw
it back to you.

Speaker 31 (27:23):
Match this plus a little long match that the Sounders
lost at Lumenfield this year. They were without Alex rolled
on Ya, mar Hasis Farah and Jordan Morris who are
all starting tonight.

Speaker 25 (27:33):
So it's a definitely different lineup that.

Speaker 31 (27:35):
We saw before and hopefully those four players will be
the difference maker in the outcome.

Speaker 29 (27:39):
Yeah, we very much hope, so thanks Michelle Sounders. Just
defending a gold kick this time, Saint Clair's not going
to play it short. He's going to push his line
towards the halfway line. Very much for we used to
see back in the day when the ball get launched
for by the goalkeeper, won by rolled on. Look fair
and square. They're saying maybe he was an elbow rolled
on won the header had to go up.

Speaker 9 (28:01):
Triantis. I believe that it's down on the deck and
you tell me, we.

Speaker 29 (28:06):
Got taught how to go up with your arms for elevation,
protection and power.

Speaker 9 (28:11):
That's very much what he did and not much there, no,
not much there.

Speaker 30 (28:14):
There is contact, no question, but you look at the intent.
There's no intent from Christian rolled on.

Speaker 29 (28:20):
It's also the reputation of Roldan is there's no interior.
It's not that kind of point.

Speaker 30 (28:23):
No, that's right, and you know what's happening now, Saint
Clair took a lot of time to take that goal kick.
Right now, he's over here right in front of the
Sounders bench. There's some antics that I think will go
on today with Minnesota try and just to throw Seattle
off their rhythm, delay the game as much as possible.

Speaker 29 (28:41):
All right, Well, the referee polls Christian Roldanna's side. We'll
throw it down to you.

Speaker 9 (28:45):
Michelle. You're right in the mix of it.

Speaker 25 (28:46):
There looked like there was a little bit of a scuffle.

Speaker 31 (28:48):
There was definitely some heated emotions going on between these
two sides. Glad to say that there was no fight
started after this incident. The player that is down as
being checked, he's actually getting up now on his own,
which I'm happy to report. Brian Schmitz are just standing
by watching on to see what the call. If there
is going to be a foul called on this into

(29:09):
what severity?

Speaker 29 (29:10):
Yeah, nothing with the referee right now in var he's
just going to stop things. The referee's going to pull
the captains together. We have his point to his arm.
So Christian rolled on and Box all gonna get pulled together.
It's what's a little word, I'm actually Stephan Fry I
should say it's going to jog out and what again?

Speaker 9 (29:29):
It's I get it. Pete.

Speaker 29 (29:30):
The referee is going to have a word of the captains,
but now it's going to drag Fry out to the
halfway line, force him to sprint all the way back
to defend a free kick. It felt like there's a
little bit of a motion. Of course, we're in the playoffs.
Players are pushing and shoving. It sounds I have to
defend this free kick from the halfway line. But this
is where you need a good referee just to manage
these early parts of the game. Don't get too happy

(29:52):
with his yellow card because that can stick in a
world to bother further down the field.

Speaker 30 (29:56):
And don't try to placate every player, right, You can't
go and talk to everybody. In the last game, I
thought there was too much of that, too much referee
putting hands on players, trying to talk to them out
of things. Here's an interesting one. Danny's Saint Claire's at
the fifty. You're gonna take this free kick, and you
can tell he just got goalkeeper of the year. He is,
he's got a lot of moxy about him, like he

(30:17):
did in the penalty kicks.

Speaker 29 (30:18):
Yeah, of course made that save against Alex roll don
one off the crossbar one off the posts.

Speaker 9 (30:23):
He is knocks the ball in from this left hand
side to the far side.

Speaker 29 (30:27):
The right up goes Diaz drops the ball back top
of the box on one I can't pick it up,
gets clear by the sound is headed up in the
air by Boxel, who's not made his way forward, but
he's gonna be the last man. Now he's gonna track
Jordan Morris down this side and he takes safety first option.
Just Boxer knocks the ball out of his left foot
down the line. He quickly goes quick thrown by Morris
towards rolled On whips in towards the backstick, and it's

(30:48):
gonna bounce through all the way out the eighteen yard
box and the far side of the left were picked
up by Rosneck to Obed, who's a little bit out
of sorts in that first game in Minnesota last week.
Hopefully at better performance from Obed alongside, of course Christian Roldan,
we expect to see him potentially here in the US
men's national team Jersey.

Speaker 9 (31:08):
We hope next summer.

Speaker 29 (31:10):
Paul goes square picks off by Minnesota, a little loose
by roll Don as.

Speaker 9 (31:13):
The ball gets scoots forward. Black Shirts moving forward. It's
what they will do.

Speaker 29 (31:17):
They'll absorb pressure and then they'll break quickly. No your
boa from the starting line. All the wasche of course,
got sold in the summer. As the ball goes in,
Jordan Morris, who was the inline, good challenge by Rimero,
goes down, wins the ball, but over the end line
it goes and it's gonna be a corner kick here
seventh minute, Neil and they'll pete viewing.

Speaker 30 (31:36):
But like Jordan Morris on the right, he has been
very active, very alert. The throw in the quick throw
to Christian rolled on, He's already had two or three
chances taking players on. He looks sharp and he looks
really engaged in the game. I think we're gonna get
some success from him on the right hand side. I
also think he's gonna float up to the front and
Alex Roldan will fill his spot on the right. So

(31:57):
he looks for Jordan tonight, great opportunity for him to
really have an impact on the game.

Speaker 29 (32:03):
Corner kick right hand side outswing over the foot of
Russick and it goes towards the near side of the
eighteen picks up.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Oh BET's trying go ho ho they go for.

Speaker 17 (32:12):
The sound is just as thought they wanted and it's.

Speaker 9 (32:16):
Obiit vogas.

Speaker 18 (32:19):
Exclamation point.

Speaker 32 (32:20):
Bob starts the game off the right foot and the
sounds going on.

Speaker 30 (32:27):
Neil, what a great goal, edge of the box, very
good first touch. The ball gets played out ovid left footer,
Saint Clair gets a hand to it going to his left.
But Obi had a lot of power on that ball.
And I'm not sure what Saint Clair's doing now. He's
coming out to talk to the linesman as if there's

(32:47):
a problem. But what a great goal. And you know, Danny,
those are easier to miss than to make.

Speaker 29 (32:53):
We'll see Misofski standing in front of the goalkeeper. We'll
see if they managed to squeeze out. Is he an
off so I position effecting the goalkeeper's vision. I think
that's the argument that Sinclair has. Referee is going to
say the ball it's going to the center circle and
it's a goal is given one nail Sounders and we've
been a practice this week. Pete and the Rows works

(33:14):
on set pieces. Brian Schmetzer has talked about set piece
of the Sounders, of course, scored two in New York
off set pieces, free kick and a corner kick and
oped's always lingering top of the eighteen yard box. They
work on that during the week. I Obe got a
good strike with his left foot and the sound is good.
Off to the perfect start.

Speaker 30 (33:35):
Changes the plot, doesn't it from Minnesota. This will force
them to want to come forward a little bit more,
maybe get a little less compact at the back, maybe
open the game up, although they may just continue to
do exactly what they're doing. Hope to get the tie
and what a PK. So interesting to see how Minnesota responds.

Speaker 29 (33:53):
Yeah, ball goes center to this near side the left
of market nick nine gold Men in the regular season
for MLS, some return for your outside left midfield, left
back and it comes Pereo, who's a player who got
knocked to the ground with a challenge from rolled On
attacking third of the field of Minnesota, trying to find
a quick way back into the game. We talked about
the five minutes after your scores when a team can

(34:14):
be most vulnerable. As Alex Holdan brings it down smoothly
and calmly inside his eighteen yard box to his brother Christian,
back to Yemar, gonna launch it forward towards the halfway
and that it's gonna bounce through. Diaz has it right
hand side, quickball into Treants the Australia down the right
hand side, it goes for Minnesota and Jackson just pokes

(34:35):
it out off the toe of lud.

Speaker 9 (34:36):
It's gonna be a throwing for Minnesota.

Speaker 29 (34:39):
And this is just what they are looking for, is
to get box all up the fields about five yards
from the corner flag in the northeast corner of the stadium,
and he's gonna wipe the ball down, get a grip,
and he's gonna launch this one deep into the eighteen
yard box. We saw it many times last week. I

(35:00):
gotta go back to the playbook, but here it is
boxel in. It comes towards the near part of the
six ball, bouncing around headed clear by Goalscorer oh Bed
picked up by Mussoski. Got a chance, of course, in
the starting lineup as Jordan Morris shifts out to look
right and it.

Speaker 9 (35:16):
Worked out so well. In the last fifteen minutes.

Speaker 29 (35:18):
Or so, Missovsky really could have finished off that game
with two great chances inside the six yard box. Couldn't finish,
but his perey now left hand side for Minnesota. Good
ball on the six, headed away by Yama and then
headed away by roll down, picked up by the sound
as the ball goes all the way back to Romero,
and as Romero picks the ball up deep in his

(35:40):
half of the field, we'll throw it down to you.

Speaker 9 (35:41):
Michelle.

Speaker 30 (35:51):
Dannie. I'll tell you what I like the changes with Mussovski.
I think the fact that he gets to start gives
him a real boost of confidence. And I think the
two answers that he did out in the last game
in the last few minutes, Gabe Brian Schmetzer a lot
of confidence. By the way, I walked by Adrian Hanauer
on the way into the booth. He just looked at
me with his.

Speaker 9 (36:13):
Son.

Speaker 30 (36:13):
He just said, I hate this.

Speaker 9 (36:15):
He hates it lives for it is what he lives.

Speaker 30 (36:18):
I understand. That's all he said.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
I hate this.

Speaker 29 (36:20):
Perfect, crisp, full evening here in Seattle, Monday night. A
little strange. It's not the muscle memory memory we all
have playing on Saturday evening. So the ball gets clipped
in by Minnesota by Rossales, ball bouncing around fast side,
came off the head of Diaz. It's gonna run out
to the farst side, two yards off that northeast corner
flag sounders will have to throw and knew who will

(36:42):
just jog over and just quell things down here to
see a replay here or the goal.

Speaker 9 (36:47):
He was a great first touch by ohbody struck it
and there is a question of.

Speaker 29 (36:52):
Offside when he struck the ball was in the way
of Sinclair and he couldn't get down quick enough.

Speaker 9 (37:00):
Came through a body of.

Speaker 30 (37:01):
Players, And I see why Sinclair I've said about it, yeah,
and I'm glad I agree with it. A Freeze decision,
of course, but I can see why you thought that.

Speaker 29 (37:10):
As you mentioned, Sinclair was announced as goalkeeper of the
Year in MLS today. Freeze Tachiocre, two goalkeepers we faced
in the last couple of weeks of the season came
second and third.

Speaker 9 (37:24):
Saint Clair was well above, close to thirty percent of
the votes.

Speaker 30 (37:31):
He's been a real reason for their success. And you
look at the history with Seattle and Minnesota, they have
not had many wins I think three total out of
maybe fifteen or sixteen. So Sinclair's had such a great
year this year and turned the corner for that club
in the win column where.

Speaker 29 (37:46):
It comes Boxhill again, similar positions before, just to shive
ten yards from the corner flag, this time on the
Minnesota right. Sounders green shirts packed the eighteen yard box.
Eleven men for the Sounders inside the eighteen all comes
in near corner of the sixth pops.

Speaker 9 (38:02):
Up towards the top of the box. Challenged by Danny Missus.

Speaker 29 (38:04):
A little reckless on the challenge on world trap, but
it's picked up by Diaz on the far side. Drop
of the shoulder comes back. Baux still has it back
to di as it goes a little run by Prey
down the line.

Speaker 9 (38:15):
It picks it up. You ask it for the off side,
but not there quickly look said by Prey.

Speaker 32 (38:20):
It gets away from new Bull to lud strike. Oh
good save by Fry and it's a challenge.

Speaker 29 (38:26):
Late on oh bed nothing given by the referee. Eventually
he does give it. Obe goes down, but great save
by Stephan Fry. If one nil Sounders Pete viewing.

Speaker 30 (38:35):
Yeah, reactionary saved skate save a lah Phil Espisito, the
old hockey goalkeeper. He just stands his ground, doesn't go
down too early. I think there was a little bit
of a deflection as well. Yes, came off the underside
of Jackson Reagan's foot, so terrific save. And you know, Danny,
that's what you want. If your goalkeeper gonna make one
or two goal saving saves, then that certainly was one.

(38:58):
You're gonna keep him into the game. So to keep
the clean sheet, he wouldn't want to give that up
in the fourteenth minute.

Speaker 29 (39:03):
Good say from stuff, Yeah, forty minutes gone here, EQC
pitch lumin feel on the sound as a kid y
R stream channel, Serious FM and of course sicked up
with Apple of course wherever you're listening to us, and
we appreciate you joining Sounders looking to try and get
it to a game three Sounders training one goal, one
game to zero. After that penalty shootout loss after a

(39:25):
nil nil tie in Minnesota a week ago, Sounders will
be on their travels on Saturday, three pm Central time
kickoff in Minnesota. The Sounders can get a win tonight
one pm Pacific and then we'll see what happens there
and the Sounders could face San Diego or Portland. Got

(39:49):
a big penalty shootout win against San Diego. It comes obed.
Now can he find a little bit of magic? LAFC
and Vancouver will be playing on the other side of
the brack. In the Western Conference, the ball goes towards
the end line with Alex clips it in towards the
back six is a good ball headed away by Rosales,
challenged by a rolled on and long won it picked

(40:10):
up by yam my little drop of the shoulder Obed
in support a lot more active today is Obed.

Speaker 9 (40:16):
I'm sure he's going to bounce in his step after
that goal.

Speaker 30 (40:20):
Amazing Why that does for someone. There's a lot of
joy that get comes with one of those in confidence,
And you're right, he does look better. He looked better
before the goal. Even see how it looks short.

Speaker 9 (40:34):
Playing on the front foot.

Speaker 29 (40:35):
And that's what Brian sch metz So I would assume
would have said to his team. We're playing at home.
We lost one game at home against Minnesota ten wins
on the season.

Speaker 9 (40:44):
It was twenty seventeen where the.

Speaker 29 (40:46):
Sounds got eleven wins at home and thirty eight points
at home in that particular season.

Speaker 9 (40:51):
But the best records for sure at home in MLS.

Speaker 29 (40:57):
Take away some of those club World Cup defeats that
we were the narrowest of margins against some of the
very best teams in.

Speaker 9 (41:06):
The world.

Speaker 29 (41:06):
As the ball gets launched long by Ramera towards long Wave,
it's a little bit isolated up there. Nothing new for
Minnesota and their strikers. They have to fight and graft
up top, not much coming their way, as they often
defended a bank of five and pressed by Jordan Morris,
given away by Sinclair, picked up by Triantis, the middle
of the park, hustled out by Ferrera, challenged now.

Speaker 9 (41:30):
By Mausosk. It comes across towards Pere.

Speaker 29 (41:32):
A nice left foot does Pere have, of course with
coming in and taking the mental of the playmaker for Minnesota.

Speaker 30 (41:43):
Because that was good defending right there from Ferrera came in,
closed down quickly. It didn't allow Minnesota to get on
the counter attack.

Speaker 9 (41:51):
And it feels like that's what he's brought to this team.

Speaker 29 (41:53):
And sometimes people don't notice the world that he does
off the ball, But it's those the ability to connect
the pass, of course in possession, but they built to
press at the right times.

Speaker 9 (42:01):
The forces them all over. Maybe the second and the
third pass.

Speaker 30 (42:04):
Yeah, I just thwarted everything going forward, forced them to
go sideways and back. That gave Seattle enough time because
they're going forward, get behind the ball, good heads up play,
and you're right, people don't think of fre as a
defensive type of player, but smart.

Speaker 29 (42:18):
What we talked about, Brian Schmetz talks about a lot
is that defense starts at the top. The Sounders definitely
have that in abundance with the likes of Morris Masowski, Ferrera,
went to Chase and Harry. The demand is put on
them by the sound of Staff and there's the way
that the Sounders play under Brian Schmitzer.

Speaker 30 (42:36):
No luxury players maybe Clint a while ago, maybe Obed
or Obafemi. Yeah, yeah, but since then, everybody does the
Let's do the dirty.

Speaker 29 (42:46):
Work in this group for sure, and that's been spoken
about several times of the course of this season, especially
if that league's cut triumph for the Force against Miami,
who do have some of those luxury players.

Speaker 9 (42:57):
And at times those.

Speaker 29 (42:59):
Luxury players come into the they can do pretty well,
as Brett Messi has certainly done.

Speaker 30 (43:02):
Yeah, sound's done all right, right, Yeah scored again.

Speaker 29 (43:06):
Of course, it's as sitting there. There's a four to
one win, puts them through. As the balls flicked it
towards the backstick, ball bouncing around and then it comes
out to Alex rold On that's near side. The right
hand side drops about to yeam deep banks of five
and four for Minnesota. As they now they start to
step out with long one A and Lud, but their

(43:27):
back line of five is just sitting a couple of
yards out at the eighteen. And we asked, you asked
the proverbial question of will they change their tactics? And
I don't see them change their tactics whatsoever. Nicker goal
one on one is as good as nil nil. They're
trying and get into penalties. Sounds need that important second goal.
Ball comes in now can they find it here? Early
nineteenth minute, sounds leading one nil. Top of the box

(43:51):
is Alex Troldan to Jordan, looks like he's off side.

Speaker 9 (43:53):
The sister referees flag goes up. Jordan.

Speaker 29 (43:56):
You he had just inched off side. You could see
right along that line. The ball came in a little
late from Alex. It's gonna be offside, gonna be a
free kick four Minnesota.

Speaker 30 (44:05):
Yeah, you talk about the tactics from Lud to the
back five, the highest guy in Minnesota and the back
five defensively, I bet it's about twenty five yards maybe
twenty three yards, so very very compact. And you're right,
we need that second goal to open things right, well,
not to open things up, but to really put it away.

Speaker 29 (44:25):
It'll be definitely based on the way that Minnesota will
it be some of a mounted to climb for Minnesota as.

Speaker 9 (44:30):
Goalkeeper of the year.

Speaker 29 (44:32):
Saint class Ice is out of bounds and the Sound
as well do their second biggest chair of the night.

Speaker 9 (44:37):
Actually I'd say the third biggest cheer goal was number one.

Speaker 29 (44:41):
Rick Ray is putting scarves up for the Sound as
the legendary marrying his broadcast. So I had a chance
to speak to him, with him for twenty minutes or
so before the game of what an incredible human being
he is.

Speaker 30 (44:53):
Sounds like you have a dinner date with him now,
your new buddy.

Speaker 9 (44:56):
Both coffee or pork chop. I think he invites me,
so I'd go with a pork chop.

Speaker 30 (45:02):
And I think so too, Vince Os.

Speaker 9 (45:04):
You're English.

Speaker 29 (45:04):
Maybe he has black pepper sauce something Jack So typically
go with the steak at Jacks, but he goes for
the pork shop.

Speaker 30 (45:12):
Who pays for that?

Speaker 9 (45:15):
I don't know. It's a good question. Maybe credit card roulette.
Let's see what happens. Maybe Kiley Dunning's credit card according
to the mint, Yes, yes, Paul gets clicked.

Speaker 29 (45:28):
Forward by Jackson towards Alex rolled On making his run,
ball bouncing around.

Speaker 9 (45:33):
Here comes Christian does what he does best, towards the
in line. He goes, whips it in.

Speaker 21 (45:37):
Had a strike goal.

Speaker 32 (45:40):
Oh, the Sound has found the second goal that they needed.

Speaker 9 (45:43):
It was off the back of a run from Christian
rolled On.

Speaker 32 (45:47):
It bounces around, eventually goes over the line and the
sound has gone to Now.

Speaker 30 (45:55):
What a terrific goal right there, christ rolled On an
excellent run. Great ball played in. We're getting a lot
of numbers inside the box. That's very very important to
bounce around a little bit right place, right time. Terrific.
See you know, Danny, this is the start we needed.
No question. Well, we cannot take our foot off the

(46:16):
gas though Seattle has. It's a long game. Sixty eight
minutes still remaining for this one, so fifty eight excuse me,
So it should be if we can get another goal,
we can put this one to rest. Great cross from
Christian world on, great header from Ferrera Jordan Morris in
the right spot. That's you know it. Jordan Morris right

(46:36):
in the middle of the goal. He scored so many
goals this year. Last year by being right in the
middle of the six yard box.

Speaker 29 (46:46):
Well for Jordan Morris beat UDZ for a top goal
scorer for the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (46:52):
This season, had some injuries, and now it was a
goal against New York.

Speaker 29 (46:56):
Now a goal in the second game of this first
round of the playoffs to make a statement against Minnesota.
Sounders leading two nil Insigne twenty two minutes. Just what
the Sounders Brian Schmitzer would have demanded from his team.

Speaker 9 (47:08):
They went up early and.

Speaker 29 (47:10):
Then they found an important second goal against a team
that likes to sit deep in Minnesota, and now the
Sounders have got the impetus to try and find that
third and really put this one away, make a statement, potentially,
and I'll be back to Minnesota on Saturday for the all.

Speaker 9 (47:26):
Important Game three.

Speaker 29 (47:27):
The Sounders can see this one out long way to
go those It all gets launched long.

Speaker 9 (47:31):
By Sinclair, headed away by Alex who plays.

Speaker 29 (47:34):
His two hundred and forty eighth game of his Sounders'
career in all competitions, goes into seventh position on his
own bypasses Monterra who slice to eighth.

Speaker 30 (47:46):
Now, well, that's wonderful. I think Alex played about seventy
eight games for Seattle. You by comparison, that's a lot
of professional games. You know what I love about that goal,
Danny is that Ferrera was on the New York host right,
So making that run from the left side all the
way across the goalmouth, getting those numbers inside the box.

Speaker 9 (48:08):
Terrific.

Speaker 30 (48:09):
That's exactly what Brian Schmitzer needs.

Speaker 29 (48:11):
It was also great for Brian to see, you know,
obviously that the formation change with Musoski playing through the middle,
Jordan on the right. It's Jordan who found himself right
bang the middle of the goal. It's all but down
that right hand side.

Speaker 9 (48:22):
And here comes the Sound.

Speaker 29 (48:23):
Is now no foul on Triantis Rosnak driving forward, Marris
Sue is right, goes to his left, little outside by
Ferrera comes back ball bouncing around. Here comes Rosnak off
the toe of Rouznak, comes Mark Nick and wins it.

Speaker 9 (48:39):
But here comes Obed.

Speaker 29 (48:41):
Now look give and go with Mussovski top of the box,
Sound is fighting for it with Obed and Rusnak having
a little nibble rip of the neck.

Speaker 9 (48:51):
On Romero fan is given by the referee.

Speaker 29 (48:53):
Sounders have joined their football right now here comes Mussovski too.

Speaker 32 (48:59):
Oh bed off the chest of box all over the
end line. It goes corner kick Sounders. They are playing
on the front foot.

Speaker 9 (49:06):
They lead to nil.

Speaker 30 (49:08):
They are enjoying their football, as you just said, gone
right at And that was a terrific transition play. With
Albert Risnik running right down the middle of the field,
he had three options. He went wide left to Ferrari.
He also had Jordan Morris. Jordan Moore is very hungry
in his run.

Speaker 29 (49:28):
Was a yellow card from Minnesota play we'll you get
a confirmation of that. I think it's Romero who dragged
on Christian's neck. Referee gave the advantage. Sounders can't take
advantage of that play by the referees let things.

Speaker 9 (49:43):
Go, but remerried to get the yellow card. Christians still down.
It was Christian's cross, of course for that second goal.

Speaker 29 (49:50):
You went crashing into the advertising boards right behind the
end line. He on this south end to our right.
Christian just sits up called staff just taking a check.
It looks like the doctors out there as well, so
that probably means some kind of concussion check as well.

Speaker 9 (50:07):
Is it just here's a bang of the head or
with a whiplash As he was pulled.

Speaker 30 (50:11):
Back three warming up pretty quick, Labor jp Klany and
rather rock for him.

Speaker 9 (50:22):
Christian's back on his feet, just walking off with the
doc A.

Speaker 29 (50:27):
Get a check and hopefully give him the green light
to continued forward, having a little sprint back and forth.
Good to see by Christian. It's no worse to wear.
And it comes Rosnick. Now he's gonna have the corner
kick from his right hand side. And it was from
the right hand side where Big Jackson Reagan won his
head against New York. By the time, it was Labor

(50:50):
who whipped the ball in. It's the time it's gonna
be Rosnick on this near side the right. It's a
concussion check. So Christian should be allowed back on without
the two minute way. As the ball gets whipped in
to what Jackson it goes gets headed away. Obett's waiting
for it again as Rosales has to fight with Obed
as new just pumps the ball forward and then challenged

(51:10):
by yamar On Lerd. It's gonna be a free kick.
Four Minnesota get here. In the twenty seventh minute sounds
leading two goals to nil back of An Obed and
Jordan Morris goal, the goalkeeper the year. Saint Clair couldn't
stop either of them. He had a chance, couldn't get
a strong enough hand in Minnesota. Now on top of
the box with marketing ninth gold mat trying to fight

(51:33):
with Alex brilliant defended by Alex managed she drag it
away and then just hooks it down the line, keeps
it in bounds. Danny Massosa is gonna go all the
way back to Saint Clair's box, all with the ball
as Missasakun challenge as Sint Claire gets a couple of
booze by the crowd and gets it again. I think
that's partly because of the antics he did during the
penalty shoot out and.

Speaker 9 (51:55):
Put off Alex, and.

Speaker 30 (51:58):
Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 5 (51:59):
I like it.

Speaker 30 (52:00):
I think the things that he did to throw people off,
I'm not a fan of that, but it was effective.
I can tell you that him challenging every spot of
the ball on the PK spot with the referee Alan
Troldn right there, that was under a ton of pressure
going back toward his own goal at the edge of
the six, turning out of trouble and as you say,

(52:21):
just hooking it down the line to get it out
of the danger. Airy good for alex Well.

Speaker 29 (52:26):
That three to two loss earlier in the summer, all
the goals were scored in the second half and that.

Speaker 9 (52:32):
Was for the Sounders. That's two goals then two goals tonight.

Speaker 29 (52:36):
So no issues scoring against Minnesota are at home, which
is un characteristic for the Sounders to give up three
goals at home against a team that is not known
of being prolific goal scorers. Defensively very good this year
thirty nine goals against the Minnesota.

Speaker 9 (52:54):
Sounders. Look at Troyent and to their two goal leaders.

Speaker 29 (52:58):
If all gets clipped forward by saying, Claire top of
the eighteen yard box, challenged by Yamar headed away, Trance
just tries to cushion the ball.

Speaker 9 (53:04):
He does to will trap. There's Yemar again.

Speaker 29 (53:07):
Off the chest of new and he just makes your
run into the feet of Danny himself somehow wriggles away.
It gets dragged down right from the referee. No foul given.
Eventually he is given, but the wrong way and the
fans not gonna like that. As Obed just throws the
ball away doesn't need to do that.

Speaker 9 (53:23):
It's a yellow card.

Speaker 29 (53:24):
That is so silly by Obed, especially in a three
game series, and accumulation of yellow cards too, so threw
the ball away. He's questioning why the yellow card, But
I feel like it's not much.

Speaker 9 (53:39):
That's what you do about that.

Speaker 30 (53:41):
That's the rule. Yeah, yeah, And it's you do his
case on that one, isn't it.

Speaker 5 (53:48):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 30 (53:49):
If that's unfortunate, as you say, you don't want to
give up those, and this referee is pretty involved in
the game at every turn, so you don't want to
give him reason to add a second yellow card.

Speaker 29 (54:04):
All gets clipped in up by Resold towards the back post,
headed and challenge by Yamur strong powerful header as the
ball just trickles over the end line.

Speaker 9 (54:12):
And it's going to be a corner kick for Minnesota
as they have one of their only the fences into
the attacking.

Speaker 29 (54:22):
Third in their most dangerous place so far has been
from set pieces long throws. Now it's going to be
a first corner cake ball whipped in, headed up and
away by Christian.

Speaker 9 (54:31):
Roldo challenges the second ball wins that one as well.

Speaker 29 (54:34):
Brilliant by Christian as Albert's going to chase his ball
back and it goes all the way.

Speaker 9 (54:38):
Back to Saint Clair. Booze ring for Saint Clair.

Speaker 29 (54:41):
As he gets the ball outside his eighteen yard box,
finds World Trap just clips it down their right hand side,
challenged by Jackson Reeg and hits it out of bounce.

Speaker 9 (54:50):
Good solid header over Lud It's gonna be a thrown on.

Speaker 29 (54:53):
The far side Minnesota's right inside Sounders territory. But ball
comes back to will Trap as he just puts his
foot in the ball. So he's not had too much
involvement so far. Pen fourteen goals in his campaign, of course,
Korea best sixteen goals all competitions. But it comes Minnesota
trying to get themselves back in the game here by

(55:15):
Rosales to Perea playmaker for Minnesota, to triantas out to
this near side the left of Marketing or run by
Ramera market It comes back, finds Trianta has got a
heavy right foot and clips the ball towards the back.
Say good climb by Rosales, good challenge by Jackson Reagan
picked up by Rosales, drops the shoulder you'll nudge by

(55:35):
Chrissy on the far side, just to put him off balance,
whipped him by Perea, headed up and a way and
then cush him head and dying just by Jackson.

Speaker 9 (55:43):
I'm not sure if he saw.

Speaker 29 (55:45):
You see that as a marketing it. Maybe he just
nipped in front of Fry fright got over the top.

Speaker 9 (55:50):
And I used to claim the ball back.

Speaker 29 (55:52):
As Alex plays the ball inside Jackson, Reagan picks it
up in the sounds built.

Speaker 30 (55:56):
That's a good little heads up played from marketing it
right there, just to umping in front of He really
gambled and Reagan heading the ball back to Fry just
made a little bit closer than and heys would like
at this time. So you talk about Kasovski up front.
He doesn't need too many chances to put the ball
on the back of the net, so his chance will

(56:18):
come tonight.

Speaker 29 (56:19):
It comes Morris on the half turn inside the attack
in half of the field, Alex rolled on to his right.

Speaker 9 (56:24):
He plays it out to Alex. Three green shirts in
the box here.

Speaker 29 (56:27):
Alex plays the ball in short to Mussoski, will clip
around the corner, tries.

Speaker 9 (56:30):
To turn away from Romero.

Speaker 29 (56:32):
Look like he came up from Aaron ooks to be
a goalkick sound as Lee two nil thirty second minute
here and Sounders FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish
official healthcare partner of Sounders FC.

Speaker 9 (56:45):
Inside the final fifteen of this first half.

Speaker 29 (56:49):
Sounders looking to continue their winning streak here at Lumen Field.

Speaker 9 (56:55):
In MLS play.

Speaker 29 (56:57):
I mentioned nearly lost in MLS this year was against
Minnesota off Treantis. It gets his rusneck driving forward part
is right. It strikes it straight down. Saint Clair didn't
really challenge.

Speaker 32 (57:10):
The goalkeeper of the year there, and it's a great
step by Alex gonna.

Speaker 29 (57:13):
Go in the fifty to fifty he does, comes off
the shin of Pereira. It's gonna be a throwing for
the Sounders to the joy of the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (57:22):
Faith all right here for the lowest in the west.

Speaker 30 (57:24):
End, Danny. I gotta say I love that tackle, right,
That's a tackle that says we want to win this game.
Sends a little bit of a message. Alex picks off
the pass, then he puts it a little out in
front of him, so he has to go to the
carpet to challenge and it just elevates the energy of
the Sounders and the fans, and it also is a
message to Minnesota we're battling for every ball. Good tackle

(57:46):
from alex.

Speaker 29 (57:49):
Amo has it just inside Minnesota's defensive half of the
field as they put a bank of five.

Speaker 9 (57:55):
Of course, the Black Shirts as they step their line.

Speaker 29 (57:58):
Now as the ball goes back, well arshaled by Eric
Ramsey and his staff. As soon as the ball goes up,
the back five slide up and they drop back with
the boy.

Speaker 9 (58:08):
It's launched long.

Speaker 29 (58:08):
Now he does towards Mussovski. He's a great strip by Fry.
Out comes Sinclair. It comes new Can he crack strack it?

Speaker 9 (58:15):
And he does and he was over the top.

Speaker 32 (58:17):
Sinclair came off his line and he was new Who
came forward.

Speaker 9 (58:23):
The bright lights were there.

Speaker 29 (58:25):
Unfortunate for knew Who, he sliced the ball over the
top goal kick.

Speaker 30 (58:28):
Great heads up play from Fry, and you know we
don't see that very often. He just launches it straight
down in the middle. Lesovski gets on the end of it,
forcing Sinclair to come out of his box. And then
unfortunately for new.

Speaker 9 (58:40):
Who, it feels that the sound is playing on the
front foot.

Speaker 29 (58:43):
He talks about that, but it feels out they're in
sync both on that defensive pressure high up the field.
They managed to pick off balls. Sinclair looks uncomfortable even
at the back.

Speaker 30 (58:52):
I would totally agree with you. I think he's trying
to do too much. I think the goalkeeper of the year,
and you know, I think he was very pleased with
himself in the p case, and I think he's trying to,
you know, rile the crowd up. Each of the goal.
He got a hand on it right, which is frustrating
for a keeper when it still goes in the back
of the net. But I think I honestly, I thought
the same thing a moment ago. He's trying to be
a little too involved in the game that plays to

(59:16):
our favorite.

Speaker 29 (59:16):
He certainly does it has done so far. Signs lead
to goals in il. Minnesota have a throwing deep on
their right hand side. Once it gets played in an
area where getting down to Michelle luck on the sidelin
as we will.

Speaker 9 (59:28):
But here comes Minnesota as.

Speaker 29 (59:29):
They build down the backs clip the ball from sent
to this new site the left marketing because long one
it comes short, then it goes back. Sounder's green shirts
back behind the ball. Soasky is slowly making his way
back and as Minnesota slowly build out the back we'll
throw down to you, Michelle.

Speaker 25 (59:47):
Thank you Danny.

Speaker 31 (59:49):
As you were saying earlier that you know the Sounders
scored in the last two meetings against or I should
say they didn't score. The goals were scored in the
last meetings against Minnesota.

Speaker 25 (59:59):
I'm gonna pature here.

Speaker 29 (01:00:00):
Danny Bull goes down the right inside could challenge by
Knew who on Rosales. We thought it was gonna be
a long throw, but it's not. But ball comes back.
Sounders are gonna get back behind the ball as the
ball's clipped from far side to this near side to
Rimera off his chest and number five as he's advanced
from his left central defensive positions.

Speaker 9 (01:00:20):
The ball gets clipped towards the fast.

Speaker 29 (01:00:21):
Six and Knew just about reason goes down the far
side as Prayer now.

Speaker 9 (01:00:26):
Playing it quickly.

Speaker 29 (01:00:27):
Not gonna wait for Boxtel to come up for those
big throws. They try to play on the front foot
a bit more speed Minnesota. They try and get Sells
back into this game. Ten minutes ago. This first half
sounds leading two goals to nil. As Obed drives forward,
it comes Farrera making a run down the left hand side.
He does Jordan Morris in support as the ball goes
down the far side for a throw in and Michelle,

(01:00:48):
we'll get it down to you.

Speaker 25 (01:00:50):
Yes, let's try this again.

Speaker 31 (01:00:51):
So we were pointing out how in all meetings against
Minnesota the goals were scored in the second half of
the action. Now, earlier this week, both Brian Schmitzer and
Albert Rusnak echoed those matches have all been almost identical,
and the thing that's motored mattered the most is that
opportunities have been created. The difference has been today is
that they've been capitalized on. Interestingly enough, for obed Vargas's

(01:01:13):
fourth goal in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 29 (01:01:17):
Slip forward by Ferrara over the end line gives you
a chance to finish off your thought that Michelle.

Speaker 31 (01:01:21):
Yes, it was his fourth goal of twenty twenty five,
but it is his first playoff goal in his career
with the Sounders, so a huge congratulations to him with
that opening goal. And interestingly enough, Morris, who actively leads
all l of MLS amongst active players in playoff goals.

Speaker 25 (01:01:39):
Came into tonight at nine. He now has ten goals.

Speaker 31 (01:01:43):
So two impressive goals that hopefully will be the difference
maker in tonight's outcome.

Speaker 9 (01:01:47):
Yep, thanks Michelle.

Speaker 29 (01:01:49):
Sixth goal of his MLS season five goals in the
regular season, now.

Speaker 9 (01:01:54):
Gets his goal in playoffs. As Michelle mentioned, ten goals.

Speaker 29 (01:02:00):
Couple of sounders as we get some medical staff come
on now for I think Monk.

Speaker 9 (01:02:04):
And Nick on the ground. It's been banged around a
few times.

Speaker 29 (01:02:06):
He's last a few minutes, but Pete, Brian obviously comfortable.
You've never see him patrolling in that technical area as
much as he has done in you know games pass
when some frustration can build with Brian and it likes
the pace, but looks comfortable right now. I'd assume, and
I'll get your take that the game plan as he
was put forward has been put into action by the
players and they should be doing well.

Speaker 30 (01:02:28):
Yeah, I would agree, and I think he made some
good changes. I think the fact that he got Jordan
Morris on the right hand side, getting Masofski back on
the field. He's said, as you mentioned, sixteen goals this
year total, and so I like it. And the fact
that we've put sixteen minutes in between the second goal

(01:02:49):
is a good sign, right you said right after we
scored that, you know, five minutes after a goal. That's
when it's most dangerous. We've gotten back into the rhythm,
also creating more chances, not just sitting back on our heels.

Speaker 29 (01:03:01):
Thirty eighth minute here, and they'll pause in play as
marking it gets some attention by the medical staff. Well,
this corpreated audio cast of Major League Soccer may not
be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent
of Major League Soccer.

Speaker 9 (01:03:18):
So just a reminder, the Sounders can hold this result.
They'll go to a game three.

Speaker 29 (01:03:22):
That Game three is on Saturday in Minnesota one pm Pacific,
three pm Central. We'll be on nine to fifty KGr
for that game. So for the Sounders last year in
this stage of the playoffs, it was two back to
that penalty shootout wins twelve for twelve, penalties five for

(01:03:45):
five in the first game, seven for seven in that
second game. So the Sounders lost the first game from
that penalty shootout. Not something they're used to doing. Of course,
we all remember that RSL game when they came for
one hundred and twenty minutes in the playoffs at Ursel,
didn't get a shot in goal. One on penalties there

(01:04:05):
come to Sounders. Now really trying to put this one away.
The third goal, ball gets cut to a res neck
towards the end. Ninety goes strikes to his left foot, deflected,
picked up by Lud far side Minnesota's right, challenged by Ferrera,
Lud clips it forward. Well done right place, right time,
can't cushion. The ball in bounds goes out of bounds
on the far side for a Minnesota throw. Five minutes

(01:04:29):
ago of this first half, Sounders lead two goals to
Nila in the second game of the MLS playoffs. First round,
ball goes out far side Sounder's throw.

Speaker 9 (01:04:41):
Well. November is Native American Heritage Month.

Speaker 29 (01:04:44):
Visit intentionalist dot com to find a Native owned business
near you and support your local native community. Ball gets
clipped forward by oh Bed, headed away by box or
picked up by Roll. Darn architect of that second can goal.
It comes Alex. Now we'll drop to the shoulder. Let's
get away from Pereyer. Good defending by Minnesota's number twenty

(01:05:06):
six has been involved at times throughout his first half.

Speaker 9 (01:05:10):
Foot in the ball. Of course he's the playmaker, but
hey come Jordan mourrays towards the end.

Speaker 32 (01:05:13):
Then he goes to Christian rolled On cuts it, both
strikes it as Masowski.

Speaker 9 (01:05:21):
Seventeenth god his year.

Speaker 32 (01:05:25):
And he continues his career year forward by getting the
Sounder's third goal tonight, Sounders three Minnesota, Neil.

Speaker 30 (01:05:36):
What a terrific goal from Missoski. We talked about that.
Typical of a forward right he hasn't done much and
then he's in the right spot. He knows where he
needs to be in that situation. Good build up down
the right hand side, good ball ovid to Jordan Morris.
Jordan Morris under Christian rolled On slipping in behind an
underlap as they call it now, and then a little

(01:05:58):
touch from Farrera. I've seen Ferr do this several times.
Just gets a touch on the ball, Misofsky pounces on it.
Saint Clair no chance coming across the school.

Speaker 9 (01:06:10):
Refere's going to hold it up, but it's good. The
good he's going to give the goal and with that
we'll throw down to you, Michelle. That goal.

Speaker 31 (01:06:16):
Besides the roar of the crowd celebrating that one and
the player celebrating it as well, was the calm on
the bench Brian Schmitzer. Calm, cool and collected, like he
knew this was gonna happen. This is what he expected
from his team to do, and this is exactly how
he wrote it up.

Speaker 9 (01:06:32):
Thanks Michelle. As the ball goes back to.

Speaker 29 (01:06:35):
New who just takes it off the toe of Stephan
Fry safety first by Knew, who.

Speaker 9 (01:06:39):
Just calmly moved the ball away.

Speaker 29 (01:06:41):
Ball gets launched forward off the chest of Boxil right
in front of Michelle and Alex Coffield.

Speaker 9 (01:06:48):
Was some good foot work. Say high five from.

Speaker 29 (01:06:51):
Michelle and Alex down there, ball in the hands of
Jordan Moriss.

Speaker 9 (01:06:57):
Alex rolled On just comes forward the ball throwing already. Sounders.
Look take this three goal lead in at halftime.

Speaker 29 (01:07:03):
They've done exactly what Brian Schmidtz sort of asks, get
the goals early, put the game away, and now Minnesota field.

Speaker 9 (01:07:11):
Pete second half.

Speaker 29 (01:07:12):
They may start making some changes as the Sounders to
preserve legs for Saturday.

Speaker 30 (01:07:19):
Yeah, I would. I could see that happening for sure.
Seattle has just been methodical in the way they've gone
about getting their goals and then getting possession of the
ball again. They'll get to halftime with very comfortable three
nothing lead. It looks like I don't want to want
to chant the team by saying that, but they're just
they're really controlling all the temple. Moving the ball around.

(01:07:41):
Minnesota has not had many chances except on restarts.

Speaker 29 (01:07:44):
They come the sounder as get inside the eighteen yard
books as Minnesota trying to build out the back with
Will trapped hounded by Green shirts.

Speaker 9 (01:07:51):
They win the ball middle of the part with Alex
rolled on.

Speaker 29 (01:07:54):
He just clips the ball back to new who and
he's gonna roll it all the way back to Stephan Fry.
But yeah, you've got some players on the bench you
can bring off, of course, to preserve some legs. Minnesota,
we'll have confidence playing at home as well. But interestingly
for the Minnesota, they've won as many games away from
home as the effort at home. But here comes Jordan

(01:08:15):
Mars down the right hand side. He does good ball
by Christian back to Alex twenty five yards from the end,
like right corner of the box. He goes to Obed,
drops his shoulder as a dry forward Markinnick Tricer walk
his way through good play by Market. It comes off
Obed over the end line, goal kick sound as the
three goals to il pe Feury.

Speaker 30 (01:08:33):
I like how unpredictable Seattle is right there. Christian rolled
on in the center circle on the Seattle half of
the field, drives a long ball to Jordan Morris, who's
got some room. They're not doing the same thing over
and over. They're getting it from one side to the other.
They're having balls go down entry, passes going down the middle.
There are good combinations on the wing. Really a complete performance.

(01:08:54):
And I remember years ago Seattle had a game like
this and Christian Roldan was pretty young and he said, hey,
everybody knows we're back. And this feels like a message
to the MLS about the playoffs in the Seattle Sounder.

Speaker 29 (01:09:05):
But let me ask this, is this the magic formula
the Sounds have found going forward? Missovski gets on the field,
plays through the middle. Jordan Morris gets his goal from
essential position, but playing on the right hand side.

Speaker 9 (01:09:16):
I saw it in that first fifteen to twenty minutes
in Minnesota.

Speaker 29 (01:09:20):
I should say that last twenty minutes in the Minnesota
that maybe forced Brian's handy has somewhat to get both
players on the field and they're both executed in this
first half.

Speaker 30 (01:09:29):
Yeah, I would to answer your question, Yes, I think
this is the lineup especially because he can make some
changes to rest some legs. Yeah, for the next round,
but I like it. I think it's it was a
really good decision. Tough decision to take Rothrock off the fields,

(01:09:50):
and Ferrera has not been overly involved, but he's been
very important to this game.

Speaker 9 (01:09:55):
Yeah, of course it was his little touch that down
Missosk got that third goal and this.

Speaker 30 (01:10:00):
Defensive work as well. Right, and then you're right, I
love that Morris is on.

Speaker 9 (01:10:04):
The right eight minutes at a time.

Speaker 29 (01:10:07):
So we had some injuries delays, for sure, we had
maybe a couple of half var checks after those goals,
but sounds love eight minutes to work through the restless
first half. The first thing they're gonna have to do
here is defend a long throw by box on this
near side the left, and it comes towards the near

(01:10:27):
corner of the six, headed away by Christians. Sounds a
really nice to snuff out some of these long throwers.
Is tapped the ball well as the ball goes in,
headed away by Obed, dropped off by Ferrari. Here come
the sound is now in transition. Jordan Moore tries to
flick it around the corner but can't and it's gonna
have to work back is Luod picks the ball up
top of the h and yard boxes.

Speaker 9 (01:10:46):
Luod Lord run by transis that's a goal and s
to right back in it.

Speaker 29 (01:10:52):
Poor play by the Sounders that went into transition trying
to break forward, gave the ball away quickly and it
was minnesot or two pounds. It was the Australian trantist
who finds the bottom corner.

Speaker 9 (01:11:07):
And that's not what the Sounders want here. Before the
halftime break three to one.

Speaker 30 (01:11:13):
I shouldn't have said it. I shouldn't have said it. Yeah,
that's a terrific goal in transition, right down the middle
for the Sounders, for I had no chance. Shots from
within eight yards driven to his right. That hushes the
crowd pretty quickly. Eight minutes of stoppage time. That's six
to go now, so they've got to get through this

(01:11:34):
half at three to one.

Speaker 9 (01:11:36):
Well, there's no more experienced team in MLS playoffs than
the Sounders.

Speaker 29 (01:11:40):
I think sixteen thousand total minutes played by the Sounders
squad in playoffs.

Speaker 9 (01:11:45):
The next team is at ten thousand.

Speaker 29 (01:11:49):
But it was a team that looked like they were
trying to find that fourth goal and they were carved
up in the transition by Minnesota.

Speaker 9 (01:11:57):
They find their first goal. Now they've got some hope.
Now it changes somewhat the halftime team talk, probably for
both teams. The ball gets sliced forward by rolled On.

Speaker 29 (01:12:07):
It's gonna be thrown on this near side as the
referee is gonna push the ball back towards boxel. He's
gonna launch the ball from thirty yards from the corner flag.
So any angle, anywhere I'm gonna start to right now,
is just gonna throw players forward. They've got nothing to
lose here. They're trailing. Put three goals to one against
the Sounders. Now they're gonna try and get their second
goal back.

Speaker 9 (01:12:28):
In as many minutes.

Speaker 29 (01:12:29):
The ball gets launched forward, headed up and away by
Jordan Morris in the second attempt headed forward by Perea.

Speaker 9 (01:12:34):
Sounders just need to calm themselves down.

Speaker 29 (01:12:37):
As Will Trap just clips the heels of Jordan Morris
and Rod just takes a moment to get to his feet.
It's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders just
outside their eighteen yard box. So, Pete, There've been many
a situation as a coach. You look comfortable and then
all of a sudden one goal giving up right before
the halftime break. How does that change Brian's communication to

(01:12:59):
his team.

Speaker 30 (01:13:00):
Yeah, it's just it's a little unnerving for the team
and you could feel the crowd, the air go out
of it with the crowd, And I think he comes
back at halftime and says, look, it's forty five more minutes.

Speaker 29 (01:13:13):
Bull gets whipped him by new towards the back stick,
Softy climbs and bounces through. So we picked up by
Marketic on this n sign. He straints forward into space,
plays the ball in short to go score triansis a
little week on the foul by the referee.

Speaker 30 (01:13:31):
The words are so important from a coach at halftime,
and you know, if Brian Watson says, we are not
going to give up a second goal, we are not
going to lose our focus every minute of the second half.
We're going to be sharp. We're going to we had
we took our foot off the gas for a moment,
we lost our concentration. So we are not going to
go out in the second half and do that again.

(01:13:52):
So I think I think that this is a veteran team.
You would talk about the minutes played in playoffs and
you look all around, there's not a guy on this
field who doesn't have a vast amount of experience. So
the second half though, now with that goal, and even
the rest of this half where they look a little dangerous,
Minnesota as soon as they get to throw in or
a free kick, so we have a game.

Speaker 29 (01:14:14):
Now, Minnesota on the fast side will pick up the
ball for a throw in just about the halfway line
on their right past the halfway point of this added time.
At the end of this first half, Sounds lead three
goals to one. That goal is gonna erk Brian Schmidtzer
as he goes into the locker room at halftime, Sounds

(01:14:36):
need to see these final minutes out.

Speaker 9 (01:14:38):
They can even nick a fourth goal. As Yamas strides.

Speaker 29 (01:14:41):
Forward, this says, I've a little bit of bother and
this where sounds quite trouble last time as a game.

Speaker 32 (01:14:45):
The ball up, he comes on, one, ball goes in behind.
Let's got a chance he pokes it.

Speaker 29 (01:14:50):
Oh, that's two goals back for Minnesota, and the Sound
has gone from three goals up too now only.

Speaker 9 (01:14:58):
Go up by one goal.

Speaker 29 (01:15:00):
That's two goals inside the last few minutes of this
first half, and that silenced the crowd, and that's gonna
change the dynamics of this game completely peering.

Speaker 30 (01:15:13):
Yeah, Yamark caught on the ball, trying to do too much,
a little too casual, gives the ball away. And this
we know this Minnesota team, this is what they are
gifted at is get the ball, go straight to the goal,
right down the middle of the field on this one.
And that is a really unfortunate, great little toe poke

(01:15:36):
from Lot. So not what Seattle wanted to now, And
you're right, the tactics have completely changed. We're back to
a fifty forty five minute game in the second half,
and there's still time left in this second half. So
the first half, excuse me, you've got to get through it.

Speaker 9 (01:15:52):
Sounds build and as they Appel will throw it down.
Ji Michelle.

Speaker 31 (01:15:56):
To his team after that goal, he got off the
bench and came right to the sideline, pointing at his noggin, saying,
play smart, play smart, use your heads. So that's really
the message that I would imagine will continue as we're
going in.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
The second half.

Speaker 9 (01:16:08):
Yeah, Hen'll come again.

Speaker 29 (01:16:09):
Minnesota on the front foot, given away again by the Sounders.
It comes long one, a ball to the Rosales inside
the aging yardmost strikes it or just wide. We'll see
how far why that was on the replay, it didn't
look far from up here. It's goal kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 32 (01:16:26):
But they are causing their own problems right now giving
the ball away left and right that time.

Speaker 29 (01:16:31):
It was rolled down in the middle of the park,
and Minnesota will take those chances.

Speaker 9 (01:16:36):
They will pounce.

Speaker 29 (01:16:38):
Sounds lead three to two, but there's gonna be some
inquisition at halftime by the players to themselves, I imagine,
just as much as Brian Schmitza will question his team
as they try to calm things down as we get
here in the final minute or so of the eighth
of added time, the end of this first half, take

(01:16:59):
a breath, would right now pew and yeah, agreed.

Speaker 30 (01:17:02):
But they look so dangerous when they go forward. In
that one, it was four Minnesota players against three, and
they come with such confidence when they go. You know
their m always to let the other team have possession
of the ball, but when they go, they go with purpose,
and right there that look very very dangerous. A couple
of feet wide. You could tell from Fry's reaction it
was he had it covered. But when we could be

(01:17:26):
three to three all of a sudden.

Speaker 9 (01:17:27):
Well for forty five minutes, it looks so good.

Speaker 29 (01:17:29):
Sounds A leading three goals to nil, and then two
minutes and added two goals and added time for Minnesota
by two giveaways from the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (01:17:37):
Have changed this game completely.

Speaker 29 (01:17:39):
To get here in the final thirty seconds, Well, wherever
you're headed, hopefully not too far, Discount Time wants to
get you there safely. Shop for tires with Treadwell your
personal tire guy at discount tire dot com. Well, well,
I'd love to hear what Praxice, Jackson, Felts, and Lamar
have to say at halftime.

Speaker 9 (01:17:58):
Don't leave us. They'll be all sorts to break down.

Speaker 29 (01:18:01):
Three goals to two here in this first half, the
second game of the first round of the playoffs, Sounds
looked very very comfortable. Bare gets flipped around the corner,
Jordan Morris challenging.

Speaker 32 (01:18:12):
Here comes to Obed now top of the box, strike
his left foot off the post.

Speaker 9 (01:18:16):
Oh I could have minute four very played by Obed Now.

Speaker 32 (01:18:20):
Here comes Minnesota in transition games wide open trap plays
it to his near sight to the left of Perea.

Speaker 9 (01:18:27):
Inside it goes towards lud Get picked off by yam On.

Speaker 29 (01:18:30):
There's a referees whistle to bring the first half, the
scintillated first half to a close.

Speaker 9 (01:18:38):
Sounders went up three goals to.

Speaker 29 (01:18:40):
Nil in the forty five eighth minute goal by Vargas,
twenty first minute by Morris, forty first minute goal by Massovski,
and then it all went wrong. In those final eight
minutes of added time. Triantis got a goal from a
Morris turnover in the forty sixth minute and then a
Yamar turnover in the fiftieth minute. L took advantage and

(01:19:02):
pulled it back. Sounds lead three goals to two, Pete
Feu and your final.

Speaker 30 (01:19:05):
Thoughts, well, we went from very comfortable, very confident, to
a little nervous and a little off kilter in the
last ten minutes of that of the first half. So
now we walk into the locker room. They got to
catch their breath, They got to get back on track.
That was That was a great shot just now from
Ovid Vargas right off the post to get the team

(01:19:27):
maybe a little bit of confidence. But you said it,
this game has become absolutely wide open. So Brian Schweitzer
has his work to do again. We've got veteran leaders
in this locker room. It's forty five minute game.

Speaker 29 (01:19:39):
Now leave us Jackson, feltz Lemann, Nagel. We'll be back
to break everything down a half time. Here at EQC
pitch a luminfield.

Speaker 9 (01:19:47):
It's a big game. Sound Is lead three goals to two.

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Well, at first, forty five minutes here at Luminfield made
me feel about forty five years older.

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Than I am right now.

Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
My goodness, what a first half here in the second
game of the first round here of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
It's do or die, win or go home for the
Sounders here today at Luminfield. You're in game two of
this best of three series Minnesota one, Game one and penalties.

Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
Sounders need to win here today, and what a first half.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
It was eight minute goal for the Sounders off of
o bet Vargas, twenty first minute goal for the Sounders
off Jordan Morris, and forty first minute goal seventeenth of
the year for Danny Mazowski.

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
Then it was three to nothings Seattle eight.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Minutes got added rightly so by the way to the
end of the first half, and in those eight minutes,
Minnesota scored twice. Suddenly it's a three to two soccer
game with forty five minutes to go, in a game
that the Sounders must win to keep their season alive.
We welcome you into the halftime show. Jackson folks lamar,
nagel lamar. That was something else.

Speaker 5 (01:23:05):
Yeah, I mean that's that's sports.

Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
That's soccer for you, right, Sounders dominate for forty five minutes.
Unfortunately eight minutes get added. It's a swing, you know,
the mentality thing. It's very interesting as they were going up.

Speaker 5 (01:23:19):
You know, I heard just the.

Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
Stands, people say, oh, we have this, and you know,
goals change games, and we knew they were efficient coming
off the start, so they don't need a lot of
chances to score a few goals. And that's kind of
exactly what happened. It's unfortunate going into halftime that that happens.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
You know, we were talking off the air and I
think we'll kind of will almost repeat the conversation we had,
which is the the moment everything changed. You're up three
to nothing, Minnesota's committing numbers forward. You have the potential
to get on the break the other way, and it's
three to nothing at this point in the forty first
plus one and one pass and one movement and one

(01:24:00):
moment is the difference between three to one and potentially
for nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Lamar, what happened there that before Minnesota.

Speaker 5 (01:24:10):
Scored their goal. Yeah, Sounders start to break.

Speaker 4 (01:24:12):
Obed gets a ball and everybody immediately says, we have numbers,
let's get out of here. Jordan's starts sprinting full speed.
The ball Obed plays is a little bit slow and
maybe defeat rather than what Jordan was thinking is I'm off.
Danny was another guy on the left that was going forward,
so Jordan has to stop. He's slowing down, he's waiting

(01:24:33):
for the ball to get to him, and that gives
the defense opportunity to just get a toe in and
unfortunately that's the catalyst that starts it right. But then,
I mean, there's we always say that there's one moment
that we see because that was a transition moment, and no, man,
that's easy to let but you know, it's.

Speaker 5 (01:24:49):
A team sport.

Speaker 4 (01:24:50):
There are multiple moments where somebody could have made a
play and stopped it, and unfortunately they were the ones
that made the play. They were the ones that wanted
it more in that moment and ended up scoring. I
do give credit to Jordan too, because I know that
feeling of I lost the ball and now I'm busting
my butt to get back as quickly as I can,
and then you watch a goal go in.

Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
It's pretty devastated.

Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
What could have been four nothing turns into three to one,
and now it's three to two, and here we are

lamar three to two? Right now?

Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
How if you're Brian Spencer and this staff sculpting a
game plan for this next forty five minutes. How do
you plan this thing out, knowing the way Minnesota plays,
knowing you have a lead forty five minutes from forcing
a game three.

Speaker 4 (01:29:22):
I mean, you just explain to him that, hey, we
started off this game amazing. That was some of the
best soccer I've seen him play in a while, that
first half. That forty five minutes, we do the exact
same thing. Go out like at zero zero, keep possession
in their half. When they scored, it was off transitions
in our in our third, especially that first goal. That's
where they're gonna win the ball and immediately transition and

(01:29:43):
get an opportunity if they do that.

Speaker 5 (01:29:44):
If they win the ball and they're eighteen, we have
a ton of time to win the ball back.

Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
As you pointed out off the air, Minnesota really broke
out of their shell once this was a two nothing game,
but three to two is a little bit different. How
do you think Minnesota plays this specific ply the next
twenty minutes of this game, maybe thirty minutes of this game.

Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
If it stays three to two.

Speaker 4 (01:30:06):
I think their patient. I think they go back to
being disciplined, not being stretched. As much as the game
goes on, that will change. They'll look for opportunities to
snag it at the end, but I think they go
back into being the discipline team that they've been all year.

Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
We will see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
We'll be back for the postgame show, hopefully not after
penalty gigs, hopefully after a full time win for the Sounders.

Speaker 29 (01:33:32):
Welcome back Sounders fans the EQC pitch here at lumin Field.
What was that extremely dynamic and interesting first half. Sounders
went up three goals to nil through the first forty
five and then there was eight minutes about a time,
and then eight minutes about it time. Minnesota found themselves
back in the game with two goals in those eight

(01:33:53):
minutes to put the teams in at Sounders three Minnesota two.
At halftime. I'm Denny Ja sit alongside Pete viewing here
in the booth. Michelle Ludka down on the sidelines.

Speaker 32 (01:34:05):
So a couple of changes for the teams will get
you those changes shortly.

Speaker 9 (01:34:10):
And I know Michelle had a chance to talk to
Brian Schmetz and.

Speaker 29 (01:34:12):
It's got some information feedback from Brian and also a
bit more information about those subs.

Speaker 9 (01:34:17):
So as the game gets going, we'll throw down to Michelle.

Speaker 29 (01:34:20):
Sounders in their anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts, white socks.
They're attacking the goal to our left, which is the
north end, the sign they usually attack in the first half,
and then Minnesota in the all black kit with slashes
of blue across the shirts. They'll be attacking the south
end the goal to our left as will Trap. We'll
just launch the ball out of bounds, picked up by Kilaney,

(01:34:43):
thrown in quickly, and that is one change we'll talk about.
I'm trying to confirm that it is Alex rol Dam
and we'll get you those lineups in just a moment.
Sounders build out in the backs Ypress now by Minnesot's
a little different by Minnesota as they look to try
and chase find this third goal getting selled back in

(01:35:04):
the game. I'm sure they felt they were down and
out towards the end of that first half. His Perea
and Minnesota now as Roldan steps in test to pick
it up, picked up well by box on top of
the eight and yard box touched by Trap, strikes the
ball and it deflects.

Speaker 9 (01:35:18):
Off Lood and it's a stripe by Rosales into the ground.
Di scuffs his shot.

Speaker 29 (01:35:22):
It's gonna be a goalkick Sounders and with that the
first time in this second half, with right down to.

Speaker 31 (01:35:27):
You, Michelle, thank you Danny, as you indicated there was
a change made Klani Coosa. Rienzi has stubbed in for
Alex roll Don. Brian Schmitzer telling me that Alex unfortunately
has a little groin tightness and that was really unfortunate
because he had a tremendous first half of play. As
for other reaction and feedback from Brian Schmetzer, I asked
him what the messaging was in the locker room at

(01:35:47):
the half, and he said, well, we're not going to
make those mistakes anymore. Referencing the two goals that his
team gifted to Minnesota during stoppage time, he said mostly
he really stressed that the team is playing well. They
just needed cleanings up defensive, keep the tempo in their favor,
keep attacking, and don't fall into a show.

Speaker 9 (01:36:04):
Yeah, thanks Michelle.

Speaker 29 (01:36:06):
Brian Schmitzer is definitely gonna expect to slight bump this
second half of Minnesota. I'm sure there's a warning to
his team that a little bit of winding the sales
for Minnesota are going in at halftime for those two
goals could have been a third Resultez just killed the
ball wide.

Speaker 9 (01:36:24):
Pete. I haven't been into locker room many a time
as a head coach.

Speaker 29 (01:36:28):
It was Brian Schmitz's tone anger, frustration, trying to calm
his team down. I'm sure there was a level of
frustration seeping out of the players as well.

Speaker 30 (01:36:38):
I think I think it's calm everybody down. I had
one nothing, We're ahead by one goal, so uh, I
think you get everybody back on track. As Michelle said,
not gonna make those mistakes again. So he points out, hey,
don't get stuck on the ball, and then they're not
going to go out in the second half and try
to not lose.

Speaker 35 (01:36:58):
Right.

Speaker 30 (01:36:59):
He still wants to get on the front foot, go forward,
get another goal, right, but you can see that what
Minnesota has done. They are on a high press. Now
they are chasing everything down. They've got numbers forward, they
have two at the back at times, and now they've
got a lot more numbers in the Seattle half of
the field.

Speaker 29 (01:37:18):
It comes long one inside the eighteen yopper Paul Rick
chased to look goal score of that second goal from
Minnesota forty fifth plus fives the fiftieth minutes. Knew who
goes forward as Triants just goes across him. Referee doesn't
give the foul. Knew who went to the deck Minnesota
have it good step by Farrara did a good job

(01:37:39):
breeding that play and then builds that possessions.

Speaker 9 (01:37:42):
Plays the ball in behind Klane, chased down by Perea.
Jordan mar Is playing on this.

Speaker 29 (01:37:48):
Left hand side to start this second half this Kolani
drives forward, plays it square in towards Farrara center of
the park, keeps, goes back to Kolani and then back
to Farrera thirty yards from goal dead center, goes towards
his right foot, strikes it dright down.

Speaker 9 (01:38:05):
The gut of Saint Clair.

Speaker 29 (01:38:07):
So let's get you that lineup for Brian Schmidtz, Stephan Fryan,
goal Koloney, coach Rienzi.

Speaker 9 (01:38:12):
As Michelle Ludker mentioned in for Alex rolled on on.

Speaker 29 (01:38:15):
That right hand side, Hey Mark Reagan knew who obed
goalscorer of that first goal and also took a shot
right towards into that first half off the post.

Speaker 9 (01:38:24):
He'll play alongside.

Speaker 29 (01:38:25):
Christian who was the architect of that second goal down
the right hand side, Jordan Morris, Albert Rosenack, Jesus Ferrero.
You're attacking three that sit behind Danny Massowski, goal scorer
of that third goal. In his seventeenth all competition goal
this season for Eric Ramsey. One change for Minnesota in

(01:38:45):
that coming out of the second half of Saint clairin
goal about three of Diaz Boxel Duggan, So it's Morris
Duggan in for Romero who's on a yellow card. So
sure if that is a precautionary move for ram did
to make sure his big defensive players or are clear
of yellow cars. But he comes on the left hand side,

(01:39:06):
Marketing on the left, Brisal is on the right, Triantis
goal scorer of their first goal trap and Pereroi midfield
lurd sits behind long one ee up front.

Speaker 9 (01:39:17):
Sound is built give it away.

Speaker 29 (01:39:19):
It's where Minnesota's going to capitalize long one as through
the middle they covered well by Jamar Again the sound
is giving up the ball and then Minnesota peters when
they pounced, they see that chance and then they go
at speed.

Speaker 30 (01:39:31):
Where do they ever? And it puts everyone on notice
when they are running at you. They come in numbers
and they come again with a lot of purpose, very
very dangerous going forward.

Speaker 29 (01:39:42):
Sounders Habit with Christian rolled up, whips it down this
near side the left to Jordan Marris. His left foot
plays into Masoski tries to turn referee gives nothing the
crown of asking for something as Musoski fell to the
deck inside the eighteen yard box, but Minnesota come away
with it.

Speaker 9 (01:40:01):
Ball at the foot of paray and just crossed the
halfway line. Alter down to the far side the left
to marketing.

Speaker 29 (01:40:09):
Ten Sounders players behind the ball now as they defend
a nice tight block fifteen yards or so outside their
eighteen yard boxes their back four as they patient.

Speaker 9 (01:40:22):
In their press. The ball goes into trap and the boat.

Speaker 29 (01:40:25):
To young Dargan, who's a twenty twenty four MLS draft
pick from Marshall University.

Speaker 9 (01:40:31):
If he gets a chance here no goals on his
campaign slips.

Speaker 29 (01:40:36):
He plays the ball to his nearside, but delivers with
the crossfield ball to Rosales comes off the Ryan side
the third left foot tries to play the ball in
and then marshalled well by the sound as they win
the ball, and here comes Jordan Morris trying to stride
forward and cuts away from pressure from Rozales. Jackson Wagan
available goes back to Jackson.

Speaker 30 (01:41:00):
Danny hues the terms wide open. In the first half.
Second half of the same both teams have had good opportunities.
Seattle's have a really good firm strike from Ferrera on
goals right to Saint Clair, and then a really good
ball from Christian Roldan to streaking Jordan Morris on the left.
Morris plays a good ball into Massovski but can't quite

(01:41:20):
turn with the ball. If Danny turns with the ball,
he's six yards out and we got a chance to score.
So Minnesota's had their chances already. Seattle's had a couple
as well.

Speaker 29 (01:41:31):
This is the seventeenth game under Brian Schmidtz, so when
it's a must win situation, sound is in the previous sixteen,
eleven and five, so they don't mind being in these
situations where they have to get a result of cool, cool,
little must winning a League's Cup championship against Miami. That

(01:41:51):
great performance by the Sounders three nilo from sixty nine
thousand fans that was written about from the Minnesota press
as they talked about Blumenfield being a fortress of sorts
for the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (01:42:06):
Good step by the Sounders, good foot by roll Don
picks up by Rosnak and pushed the back.

Speaker 29 (01:42:12):
On das unnecessary by ds Russnick goes down still on
deck is Albert Rosnak. Forceful push in the back by
ds I pull himself up is Rosnak. Those a the
ones that hurt Pete when you don't expect it, then
go clattering to the ground and it's gonna leave a mark.

Speaker 30 (01:42:34):
And it is big versus little. You know, it's interesting
the referee demanding that Diaz come toward him and then
not to give him a card. You make a great
point about Brian Schweitzer. This is where he is is
many things he does very well, but calming a team
down at halftime, getting him on focus on what's important
for the second half, not getting caught up in the

(01:42:56):
emotion that happened in the least, you know, giving up
two goals and the less six minutes of stoppage time.
So yeah, Brian Schweitzer is so skilled. You coined it
years ago when we used to do pregame halftime post
where you said he's a serial winner. So he gets
the team's back on track, pushes the right buttons with
certain players, he knows what certain players can.

Speaker 29 (01:43:16):
Hear sounds that possession far side the right with Kilaney
founds on his right back spot. We'll see lots of
energy from Young Killaney, of course, has had a really
good first full year as a pro in the first team.
Three goals, three assists on his campaign so far, so

(01:43:37):
really good return for Young Killaney back second half the
season was less involved potentially in terms of starts and minutes.
Players starting to work their way back to full fitness
can met from injury like Jordan Morris of course, and

(01:43:57):
central defensive players where well gone out to filling in time.
But there come of sounds. Here comes miss off the
top of the eighteen yard box, pulls it out to
Obed that keeps the ball going.

Speaker 9 (01:44:06):
To Koloney white corner the boxes.

Speaker 29 (01:44:08):
Obed Plani makes a little one in behind, checks back,
gets the ball to feet.

Speaker 9 (01:44:13):
Ye amarrin support behind gets the ball.

Speaker 29 (01:44:16):
There's ten black shirts and Dan Sinclair in the Minnesota
Gold to stand between the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (01:44:23):
And the stick. Says the Sounders have possessions.

Speaker 29 (01:44:26):
Patience has a probe look for an opening, trying to
break down this stubborn back line. It comes Obed and
now hazus twenty five yards from golf flick around the
corner by Jordan doctor Nu who first time ball into
feet and that's where the Minnesota will wait and now
they step and now they play down the line. It's

(01:44:47):
near sight to long wanning and one has got some
paces able to open up the field. When Sounders give
up possession. Here come Minnesota in possession with Triantis to Pereer.
Sounders made their way back behind the ball, holding their
defensive line just outside the eighteen yard box. The ball

(01:45:07):
gets flipped by Triants. This near side is new tracks.
The ball well heads it clear but picked up by Diaz.
The trap closed down well by Ruzzneck. Doesn't have a
nibble at Diaz. You push him to the ground just
a moment and so Ago Sounds now put its heist
press it's dug and step forward into space. Does well

(01:45:28):
does a young defensive player coming on in the second
half of the blood goal score of that second goal
steps forward fifty sixth minute here iq see pitch luman Field.
Sounds lead three goals to two in this game two,
the first round of the MLS playoff best of three.
The Sounders can hold this lead or go to Minnesota

(01:45:49):
on Saturday. As Jordan Morris slides down, Prayer goes down.
Nothing given by the referee or the assistant refee on
this near side be a goal kick, sound as lead
three to two?

Speaker 5 (01:45:59):
Pe you.

Speaker 30 (01:46:00):
I'd love to see Jordan Morris go into the carpet
like that. You know, he's a goal scorer right our
all time, leading the score, and he's going down trying
to make a tackle right there. You know, Eric Ramsey
in the last game, Danny, first game, you and I
did it together and I said, when a coach comes
in and says, hey, we're gonna let the other team
have the ball, right, that's hard to swallow as a

(01:46:22):
player sometimes. But the way they transition and the way
they attack, I can see players really buying into that. Okay,
we're gonna defend, we're gonna defend, We're gonna defend. But
one we go, we're gonna go as a group. And
I think that gets the players. They're all on the
same page, number one. And then they get some joy
out of attacking and they look very very dangerous when
they go.

Speaker 29 (01:46:43):
Yeah, forty possession was that count throughout the season, the
lowest of any team in MLS history by all accounts.
And as they build out of the back end that
little bit of possession they do have, we'll throw it
down to Jima show thank.

Speaker 25 (01:46:55):
You, Danny.

Speaker 31 (01:46:55):
A follow up to Pete's point about head coach Brian
Schwenzer being a serial win.

Speaker 2 (01:47:00):
This is the.

Speaker 31 (01:47:00):
Seventeenth time the team is playing in a must win
playoff game since Brian Schwinzer took over the team in
twenty sixteen. He is eleven and five in the previous
sixteen must win playoff games.

Speaker 29 (01:47:14):
Thanks Michelle new who did a really good job just
then gets pushed down by lud who's looking for that foul.
Wilstop has a little go at the assistant referee who
does use that experience two hundred and fifty plus games
for the Sounders mentioned Alex Roldan to forty eight or
comp appearances for the Sounders today goes into seventh position
on his own. Sounders going into a ton of experience

(01:47:37):
coming into playoffs this year, frowing thirty seven appearances, Morris
twenty five rolled on thirds three all in top ten
for number of playoff games for active players in the
playoffs this.

Speaker 9 (01:47:52):
Year and the experience no doubt about that.

Speaker 29 (01:47:56):
It's a matter of can they muster that experience and
put it to work as they try and see out
this game, leading three goals to two as obed over
one hundred games already such a young age knocks the
ball out of bounds goal score.

Speaker 9 (01:48:09):
Of course that first goal.

Speaker 29 (01:48:14):
Z has it in his house, roles it's a trapped
and then launched the ball long cushion headed by Jackson
down to Christian rolled on. Then the clearance is given
away as Yamar comes across to long one.

Speaker 9 (01:48:25):
A good pace and strength by Yams.

Speaker 29 (01:48:28):
It came across, stepped and won the ball well off
the toe of long one. But it's gonna be a
throwing and Lauren, behold, here come Michael Boxel. It's gonna
be about ten yards away from this Nick this corner
flag on this southwest corner. It's gonna have a chance
that they've got three or four steps since the advertising
boards putty tight up against the sideline. Here it's gonna

(01:48:51):
step forward and now launches it towards a near corner
of the six, headed away by Jordan Morris, picked up
by Triantis just clips it in Aunty Smart and the
second attempt to further attempt Gabo eventually clears in with
Miscus on the headers as Nick, who goes plays the
ball down. A good play by new wins the ball

(01:49:11):
and then releases for Rara and nothing forward.

Speaker 9 (01:49:14):
He has to go back and hold the ball up
and he goes to Resnak, pokes the ball.

Speaker 32 (01:49:18):
To Musosky, He goes Musoski, Diaz goes across.

Speaker 9 (01:49:21):
It has to be a foul.

Speaker 32 (01:49:23):
That's the referee not even given a foul for that one. Yeah,
should be in a yellow card. He's not, but that
could have been a red card. But it comes Minnesota now.

Speaker 9 (01:49:33):
Whips the ball in.

Speaker 29 (01:49:35):
Does Perera the referee? Sure he's gonna have to have
another look at that one, Pete Fury.

Speaker 30 (01:49:42):
I would think so. I can't understand that at all.
He was in good position five yards behind the play.
Misovski's shoe comes off. That doesn't happen without some form
of contact.

Speaker 29 (01:49:55):
See the replay here. He went across Diaz. He came
across and he's an obvious FA. The Any question is
it was he the last man? And I think he
was when he made the contact. Oh stepped right on
this straight across And surely I would if I have
a dollar to put down on a table, I would
have to bet that that is going to be called back.
VR is going to take a look at that, and

(01:50:16):
Daz could be in some trouble hit pipe you're in.

Speaker 30 (01:50:18):
I would agree, very surprising he didn't call it, but
I'm very pleased that he's looking at it now. I'm
talking with var Well.

Speaker 29 (01:50:27):
Of course, it's not just the impact has on today's game,
but Diaz is amain saying that back three and there
is a check in possible red card denial of goal
scoring opportunity, and I think that's pretty clear cut.

Speaker 30 (01:50:38):
I would agree, Yeah, there's the last man back, no question,
great little ball nothing.

Speaker 9 (01:50:44):
I'll be unbelievable.

Speaker 30 (01:50:46):
Unbelievable is right, I'll be darned. I don't understand that
one at all. I talked to the VAR official.

Speaker 9 (01:50:55):
Just before the game. What these VR people see that
we don't see. It's just don't even saving anyhow.

Speaker 29 (01:50:59):
So throw for Minnesota and it comes box or throws
it in deep, clips it on, it bounces through. Wouldn't
that been a painful goal to give up? If there's
somehow got a toe on that one. But Fryan picks
it up, rolls it out to Jackson O. Reagan sounders
have to just to calm themselves down a little bit,
as the emotions can certainly get the better of you

(01:51:19):
at times.

Speaker 9 (01:51:20):
The crowd need to.

Speaker 29 (01:51:23):
Make sure they're right behind the players here. They need
this bit of a drawing forward as the game goes on.
Sixty second minute, Sounders lead three goals.

Speaker 30 (01:51:30):
To two, Danny, I don't understand that one at all. Hey,
Lezowski's through, He's going to the goal.

Speaker 9 (01:51:36):
He's about his clear cut.

Speaker 30 (01:51:39):
As I have seen, I can see the feet clattering
together and from behind.

Speaker 29 (01:51:50):
Comes the sound is building out of the back pressure
for Minnesota. So the Sounders build with patience. We're gonna
throw it down to thank.

Speaker 5 (01:52:00):
You, Danny.

Speaker 25 (01:52:01):
Minnesota is getting ready to make their food substitution.

Speaker 31 (01:52:03):
Of the game, and it's a good time to point
out the time difference and to start time of today's match.
We all know that the match started about an hour
later than it normally does. Daylight savings time was yesterday,
and so we have passed technically the midnight feeling for
the Minnesota players who are in Central time. While it's
eleven twenty their time, it's feeling a lot more like

(01:52:24):
twelve twenty am. And it'll be interesting to see if
that fatigue starts to set in at all in the
remaining of this match.

Speaker 9 (01:52:30):
Yeah, thanks, Michelle.

Speaker 29 (01:52:31):
We all had that weird feeling of waking up on
Sunday morning and the extra hour of sleep.

Speaker 9 (01:52:38):
Ken said all the county they needed on the Hello
Weid weekend. They kept him up.

Speaker 30 (01:52:44):
How many pounds of candy?

Speaker 29 (01:52:47):
Annabelle had thirty pounds of candy.

Speaker 30 (01:52:51):
That's quite a home, it was. We can start a
seven eleven on our own.

Speaker 9 (01:52:54):
Yes, yeah, so we're gonna have to ration the care
and I think.

Speaker 30 (01:53:01):
Oh no, oh no, you trying to get it within
the week, right the week pound a day.

Speaker 9 (01:53:07):
Accuse the doctor.

Speaker 30 (01:53:11):
Living on the water. Fifteen pounds.

Speaker 9 (01:53:17):
They coup the Sounders.

Speaker 29 (01:53:18):
Now they have burst of energy here and left outside
is Jordan Morris right in front of Eric Ramsey and
then Minnesota bench and.

Speaker 9 (01:53:26):
Drops the shoulder, comes back, nothing forward for Prera has
it gold arm holds it out.

Speaker 29 (01:53:33):
To the far side to Yamar, Calvin, your boa is
primed and ready to come on, you know. Of course
his debut for Minnesota, scored two goals against the Sounders
in Minnesota.

Speaker 9 (01:53:51):
A couple of years back. Now, so.

Speaker 29 (01:53:56):
Because Jordan Morris can the Sounders find a fourth goal
the almost in the end of their first half when
oh Bed struck it in the post. A free giving
no foul as Diaz goes forward, falls over, but Sounders
still have the ball. Eleven men behind the ball for
Minnesota camped down on top of their eighteen yard box,
and they'll continue to playing the same way they have

(01:54:18):
done and have proved that even at three goals down,
they can just absorb some pression that's just sloping by Jackson.
That's not what the Sounders need to do. And the
change now is going to come, and it's gonna be
will Trap comes off. He's going to wander off on
the far side. Your boa is gonna come on. Long
one A is going to maybe potentially make a shift.

(01:54:40):
We'll see if Luod drops back into midfield. It looks
like it's Luod will drop a little bit deeper, Rossales
will slide in and Long one A will go from
planks down the middle. There's a central striker's playing on
this right hand side now in a five.

Speaker 9 (01:54:55):
He's played there before. Because Ferrera pulled back Triantis. The
referee doesn't even give a yellow cuff to that one.

Speaker 29 (01:55:02):
And I would have have to say, I'm a Sounders fan, yeah,
that should have been the yuck, yeah, huck. I agree,
And it comes a change for the Sounders. It's gonna
be Massoski comes off, gets a round of applause from the.

Speaker 9 (01:55:16):
Crowd, deservedly got a goal. The third goal for Danny now.

Speaker 29 (01:55:22):
Comes Paul Rothrock's gonna come on. That's gonna slide Jordan
Morris through the middle for Errold slides that right hand side,
Rothrock on the left Brosneck in the ten. It'll go
back to how the Sounders started certainly offensively against Minnesota.

Speaker 9 (01:55:39):
Where Jordan did start down the middle. The first thing
they're gonna have to do is defend this free kick
boy Sinclair. Sixty seventh minute here.

Speaker 29 (01:55:51):
At Lumenfield, Paul gets clipped in by Sinclair inside the
eighteen yard box, challenged by Jackson Reagan, Triantz has it
off his chest, strikes it on the volley over the top.

Speaker 9 (01:55:59):
It goes goal kick.

Speaker 29 (01:56:01):
Sounders lead three to two, and now the Sounders have
made a couple of moves, one enforced by Alex troll
Dan with Koloney coming on, and now a tactical shift
by Rothrock, who hopefully will have the spirit and energy
p to kind of left the team and try to
find this fourth.

Speaker 30 (01:56:17):
Golf Absolutely I think that's exactly right. That's what they're
looking for from Paul. You get Jordan back up top.
It's a logical substitution. We were talking about it a
halftime off air, that that Rothrock Georgie can help this team,
and I like to see Jordan getting back into that spot.
He did a really good job in my opinion on

(01:56:38):
the right offensively. Defensively he was very good as well.
But this will give him some energy to be higher
up and stay in the middle of the field.

Speaker 29 (01:56:48):
We have bull launch a lot boh and that gives
Minnesota the outlet if they haven't known it already. In
that first LP they show that they can break quickly,
but I Bau adds another threat of speed and also.

Speaker 9 (01:56:59):
Hold the ball up well.

Speaker 29 (01:57:00):
Well, it's good in the air, so all around good
Attacking Number nine is Yo Boa.

Speaker 9 (01:57:10):
We'll Rothrock four.

Speaker 29 (01:57:11):
Goals, seven assists on his MLS campaign, of course, got
that third goal against Miami and the League's Cup final.
Minnesota have it with Praier and still trailing by three
goals to two against the Sounders, but it could have
been a lot more comfortable than this second half if
the Sounders managed to button things up towards the end
of that first half, but a couple of giveaways by

(01:57:32):
the Sounders that Minnesota are white back in it.

Speaker 9 (01:57:37):
We'll remind everybody this is game two of a three
game series.

Speaker 29 (01:57:40):
If the Sounders win this game, they will travel to
Minnesota for a game on Saturday.

Speaker 9 (01:57:47):
It's three pm Central time, one pm Pacific kickoff.

Speaker 29 (01:57:51):
And their miscommunication tie the Sounders and Obed and Jackson
are free as we get out to your free card
on that one as always pitched off the toe of
oh Bed but foul given.

Speaker 9 (01:58:04):
Give off side. It was maybe your ball pick from
off side.

Speaker 19 (01:58:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 30 (01:58:09):
That's an interesting one. This referee has been a little
unpredictable and I think he's missed a couple.

Speaker 9 (01:58:14):
Let's get away nice. It's a nice way of putting it, Pete.

Speaker 30 (01:58:17):
His mother might be listening, so we'll just say unpredictable
and uh again. And I saw this in the thought
this is the first game. I thought, too involved? Are
they trying to talk to everybody, t fix every little.

Speaker 9 (01:58:29):
This shield the ball by rolled on and got touched
the right inside.

Speaker 29 (01:58:35):
Dougan knocks it out, picks up by raft Rockers carrying
and hustling to try and win that ball, but he
wins a thrown on the far side as Colonie's gonna
roll up and pick the ball up eighteen yards from
the end line of the Sounders right.

Speaker 9 (01:58:48):
Sound's attacking the north end in the second half. The
goal to our left. It's a big Jackson rig that
comes forward.

Speaker 29 (01:58:54):
So they're taking a page out of the Minnesota to
play book working on this long throw, and all across
the world actually the old long throw has been put
back into the mix from many a team. It comes
to Sounders with Klan throws it in headed and flicked forward.
All jobs asking for a handball off, Triantis Prera asking

(01:59:19):
for it.

Speaker 9 (01:59:19):
Referees is gonna hold things up. I'm sure he's gonna
have a.

Speaker 29 (01:59:25):
Little listen to his VR. But he just blew his whistle.
No nothing there, So moves the game forward. Sounders had
the ball far side there right the hands of Kilaney.
So sound as f C socket is presented by Provident Swedish,
official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Twenty minutes ago of
the ninety Sounders lead three goals to two in this

(01:59:47):
squad and he is presented by Provident Swedish because Obed
strides forward as the Player of the Year candidates. Obed
all goes out to his right hand side to long
warning this near side back to Diaz. Sounders get back
behind the ball. They've got to lead to protect here
in these final twenty minutes. It was three to two

(02:00:10):
when these two teams met earlier in the season here
at Lumenfield. By that time it was a three to
two win from Minnesota, the first win at Lumenfield in
their MLS history.

Speaker 9 (02:00:20):
Before it was eight straight wins for the Sounders in
regular MLS season play.

Speaker 29 (02:00:25):
Of course, it's not ever forget that three to two
win during COVID times in the Western Conference Final when
the Sounder's got three goals in.

Speaker 9 (02:00:33):
The last fifteen minutes to put him in the final.

Speaker 29 (02:00:36):
All goes across game are steps in wins the ball,
but it's going to be a thrown on the far
side and.

Speaker 9 (02:00:44):
Many betty men could win money on this one.

Speaker 29 (02:00:46):
As Boxel trots up and he's going to throw the
ball in from their left hand side. As the big
men come up in Daz and Boe is there. Duggan,
second half substitute comes up. Because it's just a near
corner of the six yard box sounds and so far
I've done a good job. And if any of these

(02:01:07):
long throws the ball goes in nice and flat by boxers.
This time rolled On just flicks the ball, but it
goes over the end line. It's gonna be a corner
kick for Minnesota. It's set pieces that may give him
the chance to get back in this game. They did
it from open play at the end of that first half,
but many better teams in MLS set pieces the Minnesota

(02:01:32):
it's gonna be a corner kick now from their left
hand side. It's gonna be Perere, the number twenty six,
who's gonna whip this ball in. It's been an outswinger
and it comes towards the Pounty spot, headed down, bounces
in and picked up by Stephen Fry. Fry throws it
into the back of the daz. I think you boa

(02:01:55):
had a little push on Klany. Jordan Moris is slow
to get to his feet as well. Referee just needs
to take control a little bit here, and we always
often say pete when a referee doesn't give the decisions
right through the flow of the game.

Speaker 9 (02:02:11):
The game could sometimes get a little bit carried.

Speaker 30 (02:02:13):
Away Yeah, players start taking advantage of the referee. And
there was just a shot in the back against Olbed,
simple push. Yeah, you know that's card worthy. Extended arms
stepping a couple of times.

Speaker 29 (02:02:29):
So Diaz on Rosnick just a few ten minutes ago
or so. And because Diaz have gotself tangled up with Massofsky,
maybe should have been on a yellow.

Speaker 9 (02:02:38):
But here come the sound Is.

Speaker 29 (02:02:39):
The referee now gives a foul and it's on lud
It just gets a hand from Boxel to pull himself up.

Speaker 30 (02:02:48):
Yeah, this is a very high intensity, high emotion game,
and I think the referee is not really taking control
in a way that the players control. That's what his
decisions are. So they start to take it into their
own hands a little bit. And this, you know, because
we go straight to penalty kicks, you're gonna have to
play right to the ninetieth minute plus starpage time.

Speaker 29 (02:03:13):
Just inside the Sounders defensive half the field is Saint Clair.
He clips the ball a good spring by Jordan Morris
and then foul given.

Speaker 9 (02:03:22):
It felt a little innocuous. That's why the players get confused.

Speaker 29 (02:03:26):
It's obvious fowls don't get called, and that doesn't seem
like a fell on anybody, but Sounders do win it.

Speaker 9 (02:03:31):
Get it going quickly with Reagan just.

Speaker 29 (02:03:34):
Outside his eighteen yard box back to Frey goes and
now pressure from your boon Steph as he rolls the
ball out from far side to Colane clips the ball
down the line. Good play by Kilaney, and he goes
and then plays the ball square and he had to
play a wide opening Russ next heavy on the pass,
gave it away. And here's Minnesota with Perey now just

(02:03:54):
flicks the ball from this near side to the FASTI
good switcher play by Perea too. Rosales on his left
foot as he turns away from pressure back to lud
no pressure on the ball twenty five yards from goal
the left of center down the line. He goes to
your bow, A good quick turn away from Yeah, my
slipped and get pushed. There's no Minnesota player really asking

(02:04:15):
for the foul. Good play by your bo's a good
little drop of the shoulder and a spin. It just
couldn't maintain his footing and the ball gets cleared and
then hooked up in the air by dug it cushion
head to buy Jackson.

Speaker 9 (02:04:28):
Towards Rothrocks be too bold but wins the fowl.

Speaker 29 (02:04:31):
That's the second big push by ds. You don't think
it's a yellow card? At some point referee gives nothing.
I think maybe that's what O Bed and Christian having
a little wood on is how many times can this
guy pusher go in the back without adding up to
a yellow card?

Speaker 9 (02:04:46):
But nothing given? Sound is gonna go?

Speaker 7 (02:04:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 30 (02:04:51):
The referee responding to Rathrop one in the card, throwing
his arms up and down. You can see that he's
kind of losing his patience with the game as well.
So this is gonna be a chippy game. Minnesota. They
come in and they'll hit you a little bit late.
They've gonna They do have a chip on their shoulder
about the Sounders for sure, because of the dominance that

(02:05:11):
the centers have had, and I think they feel like
this is their day. But they're putting a little extra
into some of their tackles.

Speaker 29 (02:05:20):
Sounds happened with Rothrock gets impression behind from the s
again it's the Black Shirts of Minnesota and then starts
to press up the fields.

Speaker 9 (02:05:27):
The ball goes back to Stephan Frying balls it out
for the far side, high pressed by marketing.

Speaker 29 (02:05:32):
Now on colon he has to go back to Fry's
inside his six yard book.

Speaker 9 (02:05:35):
Takes a touch and then just launches it forward to
Jordan Morris. As he tries to back it to dug It.

Speaker 29 (02:05:40):
It comes Rothrock now because he clips around the corner
he has chasing him down. Good play by Rothor trying
to catch out dug It and he steps in and
almost wins the ball off the as That's what Rothorp
could do.

Speaker 30 (02:05:53):
Absolutely to be a real pest up there. Now, that's
great energy from Paul, exactly what Brian Schwetzer wants. To
run the ball down and first time to Jordan Morris.
Jordan doesn't quite get to the ball, but a really
good ball from Rothrock and then almost picks the ball
off coming from behind and Paul's engaged. That's exactly what

(02:06:13):
Rian Spencer wants from it.

Speaker 9 (02:06:16):
Fifty eight percent possession for the Sounders, forty.

Speaker 29 (02:06:20):
Two percent ish fifty four point four for the Sounders,
So Minnesota kind of kick it just a lick over
their season average of forty percent. Very much like the
first game of the Sounders with the sixties in terms
of their percentage.

Speaker 9 (02:06:36):
Sounds having five yards from the end line with Rothrock
far side.

Speaker 29 (02:06:39):
The sounder is right because a brig or three of
big body of Dugan can't do it or goes over
the end line.

Speaker 9 (02:06:45):
Marshall is well by Dugan.

Speaker 29 (02:06:46):
As Diaz goes down, maybe a little cramp as it
gets a little stretch does the right central defensive player
as it goes down, and the referee is going to
call the players.

Speaker 9 (02:06:56):
The medical staff on should force it to go off
the field for a couple of minutes.

Speaker 30 (02:07:01):
The sounders, Danny, I like that from Rothrock goes in
the corner, he gets a whack at Minnesota defender, and
again that's another way where he just shows he's engaged
in the game and wants to bring something to it.
You know, he's been a spark before, so coming off
the bench, he's had his share of success, and I

(02:07:23):
like when he's in the corner and mixing things up
a little bit, showing a little moxie.

Speaker 9 (02:07:28):
So changes for Minnesota. We'll try and keep guys. It's
Rossales on off, Gresol on.

Speaker 29 (02:07:36):
Grescol of course missed that penalty and the penalty shooter
when he came on late in the first game, so
Rosales had a good outing again. Gresol will come on
experienced player Atlanta of course, and Vancouver.

Speaker 30 (02:07:51):
Played for Akron against Alex Roldan in the NCAA tournament.
Very dangerous player who's a left back, a blonde now
by the.

Speaker 29 (02:08:01):
Way, ye bleach blonde. It might be November, but he
went the all blonde direction. Sarnic dots and I believe
was that came on as well. Get a confirmation of
that Federal wayned to of course, Carlos Harvey, experienced player

(02:08:21):
aside from.

Speaker 9 (02:08:22):
Phoenix Rising play on that right hand side as Diaz did.

Speaker 29 (02:08:28):
Go off with that cramp's harve beyond light for like
switch and it comes rough on. He was away from
pressure but those inside and tries to find it between
two center backs as Jordan Morris gets nudged out of it.
Picked up well by Duggan to Gress who drives them
all forwards. A great ball just about picked off by Yams.

Speaker 9 (02:08:50):
He tracked your boa well.

Speaker 30 (02:08:55):
Besides the giveaway from Ya, Marie's been very good at
covering those kinds of passes, recovering in Jackson together. He's
had a good game. Unfortunately give away a ball that
allowed the second goal for Minnesota, but other than that
he's been nerd shark. Same with Jackson as well. And
how about this speak of the devil right the ball.

Speaker 3 (02:09:14):
Comes to this wax.

Speaker 30 (02:09:18):
Message message was delivered at halftime.

Speaker 29 (02:09:20):
Do not drill, so Sonny Dotson on, we'll just get
to the final change here lud Off. So a couple
of three changes for Minnesota after the change of your
boas the Minnesota made their five changes.

Speaker 9 (02:09:35):
Now your Boa Doug came on earlier.

Speaker 29 (02:09:38):
Three just came on in Gressel, Harvey Dotson as Jackson
O Reagan has a little tug of long worn a
shirt is going to give Minnesota a chance. They trail
ten minutes to go here at EQUC Pitch Lumen Field
when the Sounders and KIGR stream channel Serious FM sikto

(02:09:58):
with Apple ten minutes to go for the sound As
they lead three goals to two.

Speaker 9 (02:10:03):
Can they earn this win? Push it to a.

Speaker 29 (02:10:07):
Game three in Minnesota on Saturday. But they've still got
some defensive work to do. As they hold the top
of their eighteen yard box.

Speaker 9 (02:10:14):
Gressel has it. He's gonna clip it in with his
right foot.

Speaker 29 (02:10:18):
He's about fifteen yards in from this near touch line,
thirty yards from Stefan Friest goal. Sounders holding their positions
a couple of yards inside the eighteen yard box. The
big men Minnesota are in there. Ball gets whipped in
good delivery, headed away not back in by Mark nick All,
bounce around the six and picked up by oh Bed
as he drops a shoulder, tries to go around Dug

(02:10:39):
and cuts the ball off Dugan and he earns the
throwing on the far side, which colony will run over
and take.

Speaker 30 (02:10:46):
Danny. That's a lot of substitutions, do you I don't
think those substitutions are that they're conceding. I don't think
Eric Ramsey is saying no, no, I don't think that's
it at all. You know, Okay, we're gonna rest some
legs for next Saturday.

Speaker 9 (02:11:00):
Dotson is by all counts. He was out injured for
big parts of the season.

Speaker 29 (02:11:03):
He's been a starter obviously in his for many years wrestlers,
a journeyman in MLS as well, and certainly play. He
was brought on late pick to take the pks. There's
a little bit of pushing and shoving by Paul Rothrock.
His referee is just going to bring them back in together.
I think it's Harvey and Rothrock. Not much there.

Speaker 9 (02:11:24):
Reefere. You can just let things go. I think just
need to drag the players back in.

Speaker 29 (02:11:27):
He did this in the first time and he dragged
him all back and again just doesn't need to get
in too much.

Speaker 30 (02:11:33):
It's too much. He's run it.

Speaker 9 (02:11:35):
Yeah, he's gonna bring the players together, give my high five.
It's just like, I don't know, but it's changed.

Speaker 30 (02:11:43):
Did he just get my high fight? Yes, yeah, but
he did. He runs twenty yards after Paul Rothrock to say,
please don't do that again.

Speaker 9 (02:11:53):
Danny Lever is coming on for Jesus Ferreira.

Speaker 29 (02:11:58):
Danny will see, but then he does, if you'll just
slide on that right hand side and maybe more of
a presence for the Sounders in terms of possession. Prera
did another good shift involving that third goal. Of course,
we just poked the ball towards Mussovski. Danny Labor came
on at the very end of that game, just like
Wressel did, and fortunately for Danny missed that penalty.

Speaker 9 (02:12:20):
He was brought on to take fifth penalty off the
post and it comes.

Speaker 29 (02:12:25):
Danny now plays the boy into roth Org inside the agyar,
but strike said, it just deflects up in the air
almost found Jordan Morris, but collected by Sinclair to Gressel
Is near sight now pressed by Danny Lavor, turned away
from pressure.

Speaker 9 (02:12:40):
Is Triantis rolled on asking for.

Speaker 29 (02:12:47):
The throne, but it's given to Carlos Harvey and Minnesota.
As he just steps forward and takes about five yards
further up the field and the ball went out Orf.
He doesn't pull him back. Triantis turns away from pressure
well and a good addition as Triantis to this Minnesota team.

Speaker 9 (02:13:00):
The Australian I'll score that first goal. Of course, Friday's
gonna clip it.

Speaker 29 (02:13:06):
Down that right hand side towards Danny Labor turns his
back and wins the ball deflected. I think referee just
caused a little confusion what he did and ball freaking
if the sounders on the far side there right.

Speaker 30 (02:13:20):
You know Rothrock real good ball from Labor and you
don't think he's gonna get to it. Rothrock still finds
a way to find a little extra speed shift and
get to a ball, forcing sinclaird to make us say,
but Paul Rothrock never gives up on a ball, and
then he does mix it up with the players to
get in their head a little bit.

Speaker 9 (02:13:39):
Ball down the line.

Speaker 29 (02:13:40):
Here comes the Sounders the Labor nothing given by the referee.
Minnesota happened inside that defensive third of the field.

Speaker 9 (02:13:51):
Build out of the possession. He comes Rothrock and Morris.
A little bit of pressure now on that back three.

Speaker 29 (02:13:56):
Of course, Minnesota are looking for this third goal to
push it to penalties. It will go straight to two
penalties if the Sounders were to concede. First game went
to penalties, Sounders lost three goals to two. Three misses
for the Sounders. Alex rolled on, Christian rolled on Danny Laver.
It was Roznak and Reagan who scored.

Speaker 30 (02:14:17):
Post had a very good p case the post. Three.

Speaker 29 (02:14:23):
Dan Sinclair made the safe head a forward by Mark
Nick and picked up by Labor. Now it just keeps possession,
keeps the ball rolling, plays the bulls new then continuses
Rock down the line.

Speaker 5 (02:14:36):
It goes.

Speaker 9 (02:14:37):
Good play by Danny Labor. Here comes Rothrock inside.

Speaker 32 (02:14:40):
The eighteen yard box, shrugs off, Harvey drops the porter,
rope bed takes a.

Speaker 9 (02:14:45):
Deflection of Nurse. The fourth goal for the Sounders.

Speaker 18 (02:14:50):
Brilliant play by roth Rock.

Speaker 29 (02:14:54):
He won the ball, he was composed, he laid the
ball off too.

Speaker 32 (02:15:00):
Oh beed Vargasu strikes the ball in for a second
goal of the night and the Sounders.

Speaker 9 (02:15:06):
Lead for two.

Speaker 30 (02:15:09):
What a terrific ball. Another really good ball from Danny Lava,
perfectly waited. Paul Rothrock really strong, gets a shoulder in,
takes the ball in, get collects himself and then waits
a perfect pass to Obid Vargas out. How about this
Two goals for Obid Vargas. He could have had a

(02:15:29):
hat trick the one that smashed off the post. But
what a really good quality sequence of passes. And you
know I was gonna say it a few minutes ago.
I love that we are this deep into the game,
but there's still time to go. We've seen what this
team does in a short window of time, so we've
got to see it all the way through. I don't

(02:15:49):
think we'll have eight minutes of stoppage time. But what
a great ball from Danny Lava. Strong on the ball
from Rothrock. Two good substitutions for Brian Schmitzer, Lava coming Rothrock,
and then a terrific finish from Obed Vargas. Those are
easy to miss.

Speaker 29 (02:16:05):
Dnny eighteen yards out took a deflection, went past Sinclaire's
happened a few times tonight when Sinclaire had a handle
on it, couldn't get enough on it.

Speaker 9 (02:16:14):
And the day that he is announced as goalkeeper of
the Year and concedes four goals to the sound because.

Speaker 29 (02:16:21):
Who says that pushed by Triantis on Christian Roldan all
by Jackson just needs to keep possession if there's nothing
the sound has learned from that first half.

Speaker 9 (02:16:33):
Is I don't have to force the ball. You're losing
winning four to two.

Speaker 29 (02:16:37):
He's given up by Jackson in possession as Minnesota step
forward with box on towards Triantis and then get sandwiched
by the sound as players. And then that was a
little bit of revenge. Triantis gave Obed Christian little nudge
and it come the Sounders. Rothrock turns away for pressure,
Well flecks the ball in towards Obed. Sounders joined their

(02:16:59):
football now as the ball tries to go down the
line and picked off by Gresseltho made his run. Jase
is gonna make his introduction to this game in these
final minutes. Two and a half minutes the remaining of
the nineties, Sounders lead four goals to two of the
back of two goal performers by Obed down the line

(02:17:19):
though from Minnesota to Wressel has it, clips it in
and he's the collected by step and f fourth to
the ground and he's gonna pop back up.

Speaker 9 (02:17:28):
But it was Danny Labor Pete that was heavily involved
in that third fourth goal give and go with Nuhude.

Speaker 29 (02:17:34):
Laid the ball down the line, good weight and then
it was Rothrock to Obed.

Speaker 30 (02:17:39):
Yeah, you're gotta love that when your subs come in
and contribute in such a way. That is, he had
an earlier ball to Rothrock and put him in a
position to get his shot off as well. So it's
a big confidence boost for Danny as well. And now
back on the ball again, and you've seen him. We've
seen these young guys grow up. Danny Labor as a
local product come to the academy, right and then he's

(02:18:02):
playing it with rath Rock and another young guy. Some
of our young guys really grown up this season.

Speaker 29 (02:18:09):
Sound has just kicked the ball out. Jordan Morris is
slow to get up. He's asking the referee as box
look came in late on Jordan. It's happened quite a
few times. That's what you get when the referee doesn't
nip that one early on. Referees just gonna. I'm quite
sure he's having a word with the fourth official as
Ozarzi gets some final instructions from Brian Schmenza up, the

(02:18:30):
board goes and Rosnack's gonna be the player to make
way for Azaz De Rizzaria.

Speaker 9 (02:18:35):
Of course, two goals.

Speaker 29 (02:18:37):
In the League's Cup semi final and final for Ozaz
now gets his run out.

Speaker 30 (02:18:48):
Are you surprised by that? Did you think Morris would
come off?

Speaker 4 (02:18:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 29 (02:18:51):
But I also think that's a good vote of confidence
for Jordan. He can go all the way to the end,
especially the game coming up on Saturday.

Speaker 9 (02:18:58):
I agree with.

Speaker 29 (02:19:00):
Weeaking of Sath that your Sounders FC continue their playoff
run following the result.

Speaker 9 (02:19:03):
Of tonight's match.

Speaker 29 (02:19:04):
Stay tuned for more information regarding time and date. Learn
more at Sounders fc dot com. Bau gets launched long
by the Sounders. We'll get to Michelle in just a second.
That the Sounders move forward with Danny Labor slows the
game down and good smart play by Danny as the
Sounders take possessions, flick it towards Jordan. Morris is gonna

(02:19:26):
stay in bounds and there's a running of Jordan on
market X to be a free kick, and with that
we'll wrote down to you, Michelle.

Speaker 31 (02:19:32):
To Pete's point there about Jordan Morris and that last substitution,
the coaching staff checked in with Morris on three separate
occasions over the last ten minutes to see how he
was doing. Thumbs up every single time for Morris. When
he went down on that last play, they held the
sub for a moment to see if they needed to
make a change, but once he was up, they went
ahead with what you saw.

Speaker 9 (02:19:49):
Yeah, thanks Michelle.

Speaker 29 (02:19:51):
See what's brush myselves up asleep for the weekend's games.
Of course, the Sounders, it's tough to see. Please find
what's six minutes about a time through. He had his
time in the first half that caused all sorts of
problems for the Sounders, but they've done it in a
good professional performance in the second half. Pet You'd have
to think that Brian will be happy the manner which
the sound has responded, not in that seven or five

(02:20:12):
to seven minutes spell, but the man at which they
came across and took care of business in the second half.

Speaker 30 (02:20:19):
Agreed, I agree with you for them to come out
and get back on track, get composed again, get another goal,
necessary goal, and then keep playing. They didn't play to
not lose. And sometimes you know teams, this team is
too experienced and too confident.

Speaker 3 (02:20:36):
To do that.

Speaker 30 (02:20:36):
But some teams will do that, they'll just try to
hang on and and that can come back to bite you.
We've seen that happen so many different times at many levels. Right,
but Seattle's been very, very good.

Speaker 9 (02:20:46):
Today it comes one of those players, Jordan Paul rothwalk
he skips around. How is that not a foul? As
too black shows keep barreling into him.

Speaker 5 (02:20:56):
We're free.

Speaker 9 (02:20:56):
I gotta say, you don't say this is often people.
He's not. He's not himself today.

Speaker 30 (02:21:01):
Stinker as the word.

Speaker 9 (02:21:03):
He's running across. Yeah, this is silly and just getting
involved in the wrong times.

Speaker 30 (02:21:08):
That Yeah, I'm not calling he's running after Paul roth rucking.
That is very interesting. He has not had a good game.
He's trying to do too much, trying to be way
too involved.

Speaker 29 (02:21:19):
It's not been a particularly dirty game, which just allowed
the game, it's kind of allowed itself to manifest the
times when the calls haven't been made.

Speaker 9 (02:21:27):
Yeah, it comes Christian now striding forward as Arsi asking
the ball in behind.

Speaker 29 (02:21:31):
Christian keeps going, chased down by by Pereer, keeps going
Christian towards the end line and it looks like it
was a touch and it's gonna be a corner game referee.

Speaker 9 (02:21:40):
I'm gonna give him credit there.

Speaker 29 (02:21:41):
He kept up with the play right behind Christian saw
the play all the way over the end line. It
goes Corny Cake Sounders and we're two minutes into the
six of at a time.

Speaker 30 (02:21:53):
Seventy yard run for Christian boldon.

Speaker 9 (02:21:57):
Ninety second minute of the game.

Speaker 30 (02:21:59):
That you, man, that's a phenomenal engine. We've seen it
for his entire career. Here literally seventy yards.

Speaker 29 (02:22:07):
It's going to be Danny Labor with the corner kick
fast side Sounders right, big Manicola all goes in towards
the Nibs post and it's cleared away by Minnesota, challenged
by long warning and roth Rock or pushed by Treants.
Here comes Labor now right corner of the eighteen yard box,
just cuts away from pressure.

Speaker 9 (02:22:28):
That to rolled down.

Speaker 29 (02:22:30):
Labor's done a good jobs keeping the ball moving, so
it's coming onto the field as obed plays the ball
to Jackson to Azaz's new little step over by Knew who.

Speaker 9 (02:22:45):
All the way back to Stephen Frye.

Speaker 30 (02:22:48):
I do love when who does that? And he's starting
to feel it.

Speaker 5 (02:22:52):
Yep.

Speaker 29 (02:22:55):
It comes Jackson off his chest to that man Knew
who flickered the outside of the foot, the clipping around
the corner and picks up the second ball.

Speaker 9 (02:23:04):
Who strides forward. Trean just tries to shrug him off.
Easy said. They've done off new.

Speaker 29 (02:23:09):
Big strong player of course on the left hand side.
Sounds happy with Labor and kilany far side the right.

Speaker 30 (02:23:16):
From the Sounders right now, just keeping the ball.

Speaker 9 (02:23:18):
Ye see this one out and this we'll go to
a game three. By all accounts, we've got a two
minutes of the six remaining. DeMar give the bullway again
and it's not one of Sounders one.

Speaker 29 (02:23:30):
Then he's cleans things up. Nothing there for the Sounders.
We'll see if your bowl start. He's obviously their main guy.
Alowa sha as we men should transfer to the summer
another big, big player. And your Boa has been injured
in the last six weeks or so. Two substitute appearances.

Speaker 9 (02:23:47):
In the last two games.

Speaker 29 (02:23:48):
But so you could have enough in the tank to
start four Minnesota in a must wing game for both teams.

Speaker 9 (02:23:54):
In Game three.

Speaker 30 (02:23:56):
Yeah, there's you always say when you get to the postseason,
you know this is the time when players are going
to be playing hurt and you might not do it
during the regular season, but when it's the last game
of the year, potentially the last game of the year,
you're gonna get the players on the field that well.

Speaker 29 (02:24:13):
Now the referee gives the yellow Kanta Duggan. That was
felt more innocious than many of the other fouls. So
just over a minute to go of the six here
at a time at Blumenfield, Sounders did the business. As
you mentioned in must win Game, Brian Schmiz was eleven
and five going to today's game. So let's tack it
on in quite twelve and five now, and then I'll

(02:24:35):
have a chance on Saturday to add another one to
that list. Must win game, game three of a three
game series on Saturday in Minnesota.

Speaker 32 (02:24:48):
You'll gonna be able to catch it on nine fifty Kji,
You'll be able to catch it on Apple all goes
down the line towards the inline. Jordan Morris to hold
it in the far corner flag off Boxley tries to
go Doug and picks it up.

Speaker 29 (02:25:06):
It comes box up, went into the gut of Koloney
does a good job defending as roth Ord just spins
and tries to clear the ball towards Jordan Morris back
it goes to Sinclair in the Minnesota gold and still
gets a booze much for his antics. I think during
that PK shootout, Sanders fans got good memories. Pause headed

(02:25:27):
back towards Steffan fry By Jackson Ray, good calm defending
as we get here in the final seconds.

Speaker 9 (02:25:32):
Can't imagine the refereel had anything else on.

Speaker 30 (02:25:35):
Good decisions from Seattle in the second half with the
ball not giving anything away and.

Speaker 29 (02:25:41):
There's the crowd on their feet during their team as
a referee brings this.

Speaker 9 (02:25:46):
Game to an end, fire explodes behind the goals.

Speaker 29 (02:25:49):
Sounders can celebrate now a really good, solid four to
two win. And it was goals in the first half,
overt Vargas in the eighth, Jordan Morris the twenty first,
Danny Massoski in the forty first.

Speaker 9 (02:26:03):
They put the.

Speaker 29 (02:26:03):
Sounders up three goals to nil, and the Minnesota they
won two punch and added time in that first half
Triantis and lud and then the Sounders came out in
the second half took care of business, added on a
fourth goal by Obrad Vargas in the eighty sixth minute.
Sounders win Game two of this three game series, four

(02:26:24):
goals to two, and for the Sounders they move on
to Game three. Pete viewing your final.

Speaker 30 (02:26:28):
Thoughts, Well, a terrific response coming out into the second half.

Speaker 29 (02:26:32):
Yeah, I think Michelle is down with a certain happy
Brian Schmetze.

Speaker 31 (02:26:37):
I am with a happy Brian Schmittzer. Following that four
to two win, the run continues. Coach, your team fought
hard tonight. What impressed you most about their performance?

Speaker 35 (02:26:47):
Well, what impressed me the most was, you know, we
made it interesting on ourselves, and then in the second half,
I thought we played a lot smarter. We weren't rushed,
we weren't you know, doing stupid things. And then look
the subs that came on, Paul, you know, Danny, everybody else,
saw everybody, Kilanie.

Speaker 9 (02:27:08):
They did a really nice job.

Speaker 35 (02:27:09):
So I was really happy with the subs and what
they contributed to the game.

Speaker 31 (02:27:14):
Minnesota has given this team problems this year. What did
you guys change tonight?

Speaker 35 (02:27:19):
Well, look, they've given us problems. But the one game
here at home was you know, the Club World Cup
and the cash grab and all that, and I think
we're a little distracted. The game away from home where
we lost one nothing, it was a close game. It
was to their liking, same like the last game where it.

Speaker 9 (02:27:37):
Went to penalty kicks.

Speaker 35 (02:27:39):
I just think we have a really good team and
you know on our night we're gonna win.

Speaker 5 (02:27:43):
Oh.

Speaker 31 (02:27:43):
Bet vigas not only his first but his first and
second postseason goals.

Speaker 25 (02:27:48):
What'd you like out of his performance?

Speaker 1 (02:27:49):
I loved it. The kid's growing.

Speaker 30 (02:27:51):
We can all see it as a fifteen year old.

Speaker 35 (02:27:54):
Now he's nineteen and he's he's gonna meet tremendous future.
And I seeing on a cake because he's not known
for his goal scoring. But the two goals certainly were important.

Speaker 25 (02:28:04):
Certainly were four total goals. Did you have a favorite tonight?

Speaker 9 (02:28:11):
For the fourth goal?

Speaker 5 (02:28:13):
Is my favorite?

Speaker 30 (02:28:13):
Michelle?

Speaker 31 (02:28:14):
I love a congratulations coach, good luck in Minnesota on Saturday.

Speaker 9 (02:28:17):
Thank you, Thank you, Danny, back to you, thanks Michelle.
Well good comments by Bryce Schwitzer's always so Pete.

Speaker 29 (02:28:24):
We'll throw it to you your final thoughts. You heard
Bryant's thoughts about the game, but your final thoughts about
the game.

Speaker 30 (02:28:28):
Yeah, he's proud of his team and he and you
know he never gets too high and never gets too low.
Keeps the team on track. You know, some of his comments,
you know, we're not going to make that mistake again, right,
and he just goes in the locker room and makes
it very plain for the players. And we didn't see
any mistakes like that. We didn't give the ball away
in tight situations. You see you see at one point
Yamar just thumping the ball out of bounds with no

(02:28:51):
direction on it. Why because he was told do not
get stuck on the ball. So and then good composure,
like he said, the subs came in and did a
great Danny Leaba coming off the bench, Uh Kalani coming
off the bench, Roth rock ozase, it was a really
good complete performance. And now it comes down it's a
one game series now back at Minnesota, and I like
where the Sounders are at confidence wise, and he's got

(02:29:13):
to be a happy coach. So I thought the team
just played a very complete game, complete ninety minutes, but
we did about fourteen minutes of stoppage time. We did
between the first half and the second half, so those
minutes were tough, but they responded incredibly well. And back
to Minnesota.

Speaker 29 (02:29:30):
Well, thanks for everyone involved in today's broadcast. Craig Fournier
back at the studio, Lloyd here on the decks, Keeley Dunning,
Kevin Cae, Jordan Thompson as always, Michelle Ludk down on
the sidelines, and then of course Pete Fewing alongside me
here in the booth. So the team, as we mentioned,
back on the road on Saturday to play game three

(02:29:53):
of this three game series, first round of the playoffs,
and the Sounders win another must win game and add
another notch in Brian Schmittz's record for doing so well
and these must win game situations. But don't leave us,
Jackson felts lamon Nagel. We'll be back to break everything down.

Game three ahead, A deciding Game three in Minnesota is
ahead for your Sounders after a four to two win
today in Game two over Minnesota. One of the key
players in this offensive explosion against Minnesota, Hey sus Ferira,
down on the field with Michelle.

Speaker 31 (02:34:26):
Thank you, Jackson, Yes, hey, sus you were instrumental in
tonight's for to win. What stood out to you about
your team's performance.

Speaker 36 (02:34:32):
No, I think that we knew that this could be
our last game, and so we went to a mentality
that this was another final is win or go home,
And I think the guys fought, you know, we maybe
had a little bit more of an attacking minded this time.
We knew that we had to break somehow of Minnesota,
and I think the early goal helped us.

Speaker 31 (02:34:50):
For you, personally, your first home playoff game since joining Seattle,
what did you make of the atmosphere? How different was
it from when you've been with Dallas and kind of
just the overall f in the evening.

Speaker 9 (02:35:00):
Yeah, obviously it's hard.

Speaker 36 (02:35:02):
It's a hard place, you know, when I was coming
here with Dallas, you know, the rain, the cold, the surface,
it changes a lot. And so being able to be
on this on the good side now being able to
get used to the turf and being in the weather
is great. And so we know that when we play
at home, our fans are behind us and it's our
plus one, and so it's a tough place to come
and play, and so we know that we have to
take full advantage when we get the opportunity to play

(02:35:23):
in front of our fans and enjoy it.

Speaker 9 (02:35:24):
I think that the guys enjoyed it today and it showed.

Speaker 31 (02:35:28):
Guys are headed back to Minnesota for Game three on Saturday,
the best of three series.

Speaker 25 (02:35:34):
How challenging is this format to play at this point
of the year.

Speaker 36 (02:35:38):
Yeah, no, it's tough, But that's the situation that we're
in right now, and so we have to go out
there and and go as if it's another final. You know,
we thankfully we were in a final this year and
we know what it takes to win those games, and
so it's gonna be another final. Is gonna We're gonna
need the whole roster, the whole squad, and so we're
going there with the mentality that we have today. It's
one O go home, and so we're gonna try to

(02:36:00):
you know, still running behind, still still get the best
of each other, and know that if we win the events.

Speaker 31 (02:36:06):
Beyond the mentality, anything you can take away from tonight's
game and the win here tonight that you want to
carry over to Saturday.

Speaker 36 (02:36:12):
Yeah, there's an individual talent. I think that we have
individual time that's going to get us and take us
a long way. But we know that we have to
play as a collective also, and so when we all
have that mentality of we can play well and do
it together, there's no I don't think there's a team
that can beat us. And so thankfully we've done things
good and so we're gonna keep moving and and try
to try to win over there.

Speaker 31 (02:36:33):
Let's just keep it going. Hey, sus, thank you so
much for the time. Congratulations on the win tonight and
best to let this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:36:38):
Thank you Jackson, thanks Michelle, thank you to Hayesus Ferira.

Speaker 2 (02:36:42):
And then she said, let's keep it going because this
was a big, big win here at home here in
this second game of the best of three first round,
and now the momentum is that the Sounder's back to
keep it going and move ahead to a Western Conference semifinal.

Speaker 3 (02:36:58):
Because this was a very very good step.

Speaker 2 (02:37:02):
Way welcome you into the postmatch show, Jackson felt to
Lamar Nagel here to break down this Sounder four to
two win, a game that featured two goals from home
Met Vargas, a goal from Jordan Morris, a goal from
Danny Muzaski, and then also a couple from Minnesota in
a flurry.

Speaker 3 (02:37:19):
They're right in added time of.

Speaker 2 (02:37:21):
The first half to get there too, but the defense
holds strong otherwise in this win.

Speaker 3 (02:37:27):
Lamar, that's the facts.

Speaker 2 (02:37:29):
Now take us in to the depth a little bit
because this was nerviat moments. But boy, it's a big
confidence boost for this team going into game.

Speaker 5 (02:37:38):
Three and entertaining soccer right.

Speaker 4 (02:37:40):
A couple of goals, a bit of a gut punch
right before halftime, obviously, but a really solid forty five
minutes in the first half going into the halftime. You know,
difficult when you concede one goal, let alone two in
extra time, but I thought they came out amazing, right.
The Minnesota did come out strong, a little bit stronger

(02:38:01):
than I thought they were actually going to come out pressured.
But the Sounders withheld that pressure really well, played out
of the back really well, just went into a mentality.
Hazys talked about confidence and special players, and they exemplified that.

Speaker 5 (02:38:15):
They showed that throughout the.

Speaker 4 (02:38:16):
Second forty five and were able to get the second one.

Speaker 5 (02:38:19):
Obed. Another guy that has had an.

Speaker 4 (02:38:21):
Amazing year, an amazing potential, amazing talent ends up getting
a bounce.

Speaker 5 (02:38:25):
But I mean is in the right spot, broth Rock.

Speaker 4 (02:38:28):
There's plenty of guys with talent out there that made
this game entertaining and special.

Speaker 2 (02:38:32):
You know, I think there's a number of names you
mentioned there that we can go a little bit further
in depth on, and you know, one of the names
is Kalanie Cozimsei. He comes on for Alex Roldan at
the start of the second half in a three to
two game where I mean the last eight minutes on
the field that they were playing, it was very nervy
and it was a three to two games suddenly and
Klanie has to come.

Speaker 3 (02:38:51):
In for Alex in a very very tough position.

Speaker 2 (02:38:54):
He's one of those players who really stepped up and
made it a very professional, good deff defensive half.

Speaker 3 (02:39:00):
Well, you don't allow a goal to Minnesota in the
last forty five.

Speaker 4 (02:39:04):
Yeah, I mentioned him off air just he was kind
of the standout for me in the second half, and
mostly because Sounders are taking a lot of pressure and
when the ball will go back to Steph a lot
of times he Kalani would be the one that Steph
would go to and your pin back as a right back,
as a sub coming into a playoff game as a
young guy, that's a lot of pressure. He did it
with class, didn't lose a ball. I don't think beat

(02:39:24):
the guy a couple of times. Found the player was
really calm and was able to play out of pressure
and a few times ended up with chances. Because of that,
you drew Minnesota in. He beats the pressure with the
first ball, they're able to get down the field and
then get the ball on the other half.

Speaker 3 (02:39:39):
Yeah, just really good from him.

Speaker 2 (02:39:41):
We'll mention with the two goals by the way, and
really just a good match overall. Tonight's Toyota Man of
the Match is Obed Vargas. Your local toyoert doers are
proud to present tonight's Man of the match. And you know,
one of the other names you mentioned is Paul Rothrock,
and I thought it was just a really good substitution
by Brian Schmitzer and the sixth to bring on Paul.

(02:40:01):
Paul was so instrumental in that eighty six minute goal
from Obed, the fight to win that ball and then
hit Obed top of the box that gets that fourth goal.

Speaker 3 (02:40:10):
Rothrock was a huge influence and was one of the things.

Speaker 2 (02:40:13):
You know, as I was doing my Sounders weekly show
last week, me and Jamie Watson, we're spending some time
talking about, well, clearly we need to make a lineup change.
What lineup change is that? Well, okay, Danny Mazowski's the
obvious one, but who does that come at the expense for?
And I thought he said something really smart, which was
that it's absolutely Paul Rothrock, because Rothrock is going to
be better off the bench than any other player in

(02:40:36):
that starting lineup of Game one. And I think we
saw that there is just a surge of energy from
Rothrock when he came out of the field because he realizes,
all right, if I'm playing for twenty four minutes, I'm
gonna throw ninety minutes of energy into those twenty four Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (02:40:51):
That he's one of those players that actually affects the
rest of the team too. They see him coming on,
they know what type of mentality he's gonna bring in,
what type of effort he's gonna bring. And he gets
into the corners, he fights back. There was one there
he almost lost, he lost it and almost ran out
of bounds, and then the ball bounced to the player
and he almost beat him back to it. And he's like,
that's that extra effort that the crowd gets behind as well,

(02:41:13):
and that pumps your team up too.

Speaker 5 (02:41:14):
Amazing job.

Speaker 4 (02:41:15):
I could talk for hours about Paul Rothrock and his
effort in his season.

Speaker 2 (02:41:19):
A really good effort I think all around. And we
saw the Sounders truly fight. I mean, you know, you
look at the first forty one minutes of this game
where it's three to nothing Seattle, and you could see
just the effort of all right, we understood when we
not only needed to score, but we need to score early.
And that was one of our keys to this match
was scoring early. And I mean this, this game doesn't
happen without jumping on Minnesota from the get go and

(02:41:42):
getting goals in the eighth minute, the twenty first minute,
and it's that mentality. It's that quick start that I
think you really pointed out in pregame that we got
to see and.

Speaker 4 (02:41:51):
I think Jesus kind of alluded to it as well.
There was a sense of urgency this game. Yeah, right,
you have three games. In the very first game you're
kind of feeling out the other team. Maybe it's not
his urgent in the final third, you still want to score.
You're still up there in a competitor, but in this
game it's oh, I have to step up right now,
and everybody has that mentality. It's like that for this game,
and especially like that for the next game.

Speaker 3 (02:42:12):
Absolutely so well, we got to talk about game three
ahead well.

Speaker 3 (02:50:44):
Play the match. This is gonna be a tough one, Lamar.
I think there's four very different goals here.

Speaker 2 (02:50:49):
First goal, you have Obed Vargas picking up a corner
at the top of the box, putting in a really
nice shot past Saint Claire who gets a hand to it,
but it has such pace on it that still go
into the back of the net. Second goal, Christian rolled
on into the prime as cist zone he kind of
got bullied into the boards, but before he did, he
sends a cross into Ferrera. Ferira's shot gets tapped in

(02:51:10):
by Morris to make it two. Then we had in
the forty first minute, Jordan to Christian again into the
prim a. Cystone crosses to Ferrera who taps it over
to Mazaski in front of goal. Moose puts it in
three nothing and then finally that fourth goal there in
the eighty sixth minute, Paul Rothrock fights and wins for
a ball in the left wing, crosses to Obed Vargas's

(02:51:31):
top of the box, takes a deflection, goes into the corner.

Speaker 3 (02:51:35):
For a four to two lead.

Speaker 2 (02:51:38):
They're different goals, and I think there's a couple that
have pretty good arguments.

Speaker 3 (02:51:43):
What do you think for our play of the match.

Speaker 4 (02:51:45):
Yeah, I mean the first goal always changes games, but
I think that last one put the dagger into into
Minnesota and the way it comes about, I keep saying,
and I'm broken record a big fan of Paul Rothrock
in his effort, So him doing that Obed, the young
patental coming out and getting another one in the same
almost manner right, hits it little deflection, Saint Clair gets

(02:52:06):
a little bit of a touch to it still goes in,
but that gave them some breathing room and probably some
confidence kind of going into the end of the game.

Speaker 2 (02:52:13):
Yeah, I think so, and I think I would for me,
it was between one and four and one's nice and
it's a great shot from Obed and he corrals it
and puts a really nice shot past Saint Clair, touches
Saint Clair's hand but still goes in. That fourth one though,
and I think to what you were talking about, it's
the fight from Paul Rothrock on that fourth goal, because

(02:52:33):
he gets that ball and really has to just work
his ass off to win that and then what do
you know, I mean, clearly Minnesota was you know, whining
for another foul, because they were whining for fouls for
about ninety percent of this game. But but you know,
Paul is able to win that ball and then have
such time and such space and he had I think

(02:52:54):
three different runners he could send it into, but realized
the guy who's probably furthest back, Obed, had the most
clear shot at goal. So that is going to be
our play the match presented by Emerald Quing Casino, the
betting capital of the northwest.

Speaker 3 (02:53:07):
That fourth goal that made it four to two. Here
was the call from Danny.

Speaker 29 (02:53:10):
Jackson, headed forward by ma knnicket, picked up by Leave,
and it just keeps possession, keeps the bull rolling plays
the bullshindwe that continues.

Speaker 9 (02:53:19):
His brook down the line. It goes. Good play by
Danny Leave.

Speaker 32 (02:53:22):
He comes you Afrock inside the eighteen yard book, shrugs off, Hovey,
dumps the bolts of rope, bed takes deflection.

Speaker 1 (02:53:28):
In this the fourth goal for the sound is.

Speaker 9 (02:53:33):
Brilliant play by Rothrock.

Speaker 2 (02:53:36):
Brilliant play by Rothrock, indeed, and Obed gets the deflection.
But boy, it is the work from Paully that gets
the Sounders that fourth goal. All right, let's talk about
game three ahead, Lamar. It's Saturday. We again, we don't
have a time to share it yet, but it will
be Saturday in Minnesota. The first question to ask you is,

(02:53:57):
if you're Brian Schmitzer, you rolled out a four four
to two lineup. We didn't know exactly how it was
gonna behave. At times it behaved like a four to
three three. At times it behaved like the four two
three one. At times it did behave like a four
to four to two diamond and it kind of worked
in all iterations.

Speaker 3 (02:54:14):
You gotta go back to it.

Speaker 4 (02:54:15):
Yeah, I think obviously with the early success of this
game and the mentality that the guys showed, you want
to replicate that as much as possible. You're gonna beat
that into him and give them that confidence and show
them highlights of what they did in this game and say, hey,
it may be a little bit different, it's gonna look
different away, but we want to have the exact same mentality.
And I think just the experience and the players that

(02:54:37):
they have on the field, the talent, they're able to
switch in and out of different formations and have some
freedom while still remaining disciplined in the back. And you
got a great set of central midfielders and a back
line that's gonna hold it down, and you can have
your front guys kind of being really fluid.

Speaker 2 (02:54:52):
When you talked about how it's gonna look different. And
I think one of the things for Eric Ramsey, he's
obviously a very very smart soccer mind. Thirty three old,
who was the former assistant with Manchester United, been on
the job for a year and a half in Minnesota,
and his system has certainly led to a lot of success.
But he's so smart that he's going to take these
next few days preparing for Game three, and he's gonna

(02:55:15):
know that Brian is likely going to do that what
we just talked about and stick with the same system.
So it's gonna look different for Seattle because Ramsey's gonna
make changes not only to the lineup, but perhaps a
little bit schematically as well to defend against that Morris
Jordan four four to two combo.

Speaker 4 (02:55:31):
Yeah, and I think you can. You can get into
the he makes I'm gonna make a move. He makes
a move, so I'm gonna make a move. Absolutely. But again,
the Sounders are such a good team, they got such
good talent. You stay disciplined in the back, you let
your front guys adjust, and uh, you just try to
replicate what you did out here today.

Speaker 5 (02:55:51):
I think that's the that's the basis of it.

Speaker 2 (02:55:53):
In a game where it is really, you know, truly
like it's a one off game, as all these are. Now,
it's it's winner and go home for the rest, for
the rest of the playoffs, and and that mentality, I
imagine that's not only where this team has shined over
the years, but it's also where coaching can shine as well.

(02:56:14):
I imagine when you have a leader in Brian Schmetzer
who has the culture of this team to be up
in games like that.

Speaker 3 (02:56:21):
We saw it in League's couple.

Speaker 2 (02:56:22):
We've seen it in year after year in the playoffs
where this team kind of thrives in that kind of mentality.

Speaker 5 (02:56:27):
Yeah, and we listen.

Speaker 4 (02:56:29):
We talked highly of Eric Ramsey and the culture that
he created with Minnesota. Quickly Brian Schmetzer has done the
same thing he went from. You know, it might not
have been a club that was struggling. It's a club
that already had a ton of success and he was
a part of it. But when he came in, the
culture that he's created and there's been a shift, right.
There's been almost two types of Sounders that that Brian

(02:56:50):
Schmetzers coached and this is the second iteration of it.
And they they're doing great. The culture is great. He's
got young guys or I say young guys. Sorry, I
still think of him as young guys because I was
playing there with the young guys. But now the older
guys that that are bought in and they create a
culture from the Sounders that they've gotten from older even
older guys, and and Schmester's the epitome of that, right,

(02:57:11):
He's a He's a Sounder through and through, and I
think every one of them is bought in and you
have a little bit of success and it keeps going.
And so we see that with the with the Sounders today.

Speaker 2 (02:57:20):
Well, I'm sure you know, if you get Christian and
and and in in any moment, he's gonna talk about
guys like you and guys like Brad and guys that
you know he played with and sort of like that's
the it's it's it's workhorses, guys who will work their
butts off and play for the crest and play hard
and go for it because at the end of the day,
you know, it does mean so much.

Speaker 3 (02:57:42):
And you're a local guy.

Speaker 2 (02:57:43):
And Christian Vy you dub and you know, just the
list goes on and non Kalanie you dubbed Jackson Reagan,
local guy. I mean, literally, let's just do this, Roth Rock,
you can the match obviously, Seattle you, oh, Ben Vargas,
Alaska through the Academy, just just go on and on. Yeah,
And you know, I think I think it's that culture,

(02:58:04):
right that you helped build that so many players help
build and you can see it still in being instilled
today to the next generation, because yeah, it is. It's
the second iteration of the Sounders from from Nico and Rowells,
you know, Bryant's team of the late twenty tens into
now your teams of Albert and Jordan, and you know
this this group that's that's continuing to evolve with Jesus Ferrara.

(02:58:27):
It's it's kind of amazing, you know that the culture
that this team has been developed, where so many this
this is view from thirty five thousand feet thing And
as a final comment, I love this perspective from you
as well, where so many teams around this league you
see end up getting in this cycle of saying, all right,
we went through a championship window. Now we got to

(02:58:49):
recycle and we're gonna take you know, two three years
off and then we're gonna get right back at it
and try to you know, contend for MLS Cups. And
you see teams that go through these big cycles. LA
Galaxy is a perfect example, right, and you see that,
and it just doesn't feel like the Sounders have ever
had to have that cycle of the lull of. We

(02:59:10):
got a gear back up. It's just evolved from one
generation of the next, and it's just it's it's been
pretty cool to see over the course of this franchise
and this organization, you know, since we see ale Centers FC,
where there's just never been that loll Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:59:23):
It has been amazing.

Speaker 4 (02:59:24):
I mean, just thinking back right the inaugural season two
thousand and nine was a set of guys, and then
my kind of second third stint around the twenty fourteen
was another set of guys, and then obviously sixteen was
your Raoul and Nico, and now we have another set
and so it is it is amazing that we can
transition so quickly, and I think it's because of that culture.

(02:59:48):
Those guys that come in, they know exactly what's expected
and they continue the trend. And yeah, it doesn't look
like that's gonna be ending anytime soon with the amazing
talent and young guys that we have.

Speaker 2 (02:59:59):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
