Speaker 1 (00:00):
By Provident Swedish. Today, your Seattle Sounders FC face Minnesota
United FC. Today's mattch just presented by I'm Clabbank, the
official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Frogman Swedish
Premat show starts now well.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
With the league's cup in the rear view mirror.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Your Seattle Sounders have returned to MLS action and the
regular season. It resumes tonight down in Saint Paul, Minnesota,
where your Sounders, who are in the seventh place right
now in the Western Conference, are facing a Minnesota United
team who are ninth.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Place in the Western Conference.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
So welcome in to the Sounders FC pre match show
presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC.
Jackson felt alongside the coach Pete Fewing, as we're counting
you down kickoff here over the next twenty minutes. It's
going to be a little bit of an accelerated premat
show and then we'll get to Danny Jackson and Brad Evans.
They will have the call for Sounders and Minnesota United
(00:59):
from a lean field out there in Saint Paul. I
should mention that tonight's match is presented by Umpquahbank, the
official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC Umpquadbank, Better Together
for Better. There is a lot to get to here
as we kind of look ahead to tonight's match. It
is the resumption of MLS, But before we get to
the Delta starting eleven Pete, I think it does take
(01:21):
a moment for us to breathe and just decompressed from
the end of League's Cup. This is a team that
made a run to the quarter final of League's Cup
to a team that you know, and lost to a
team that is, i mean, clearly one of the best
in all of North America in LAFC. They're in the final.
They beat Colorado for nothing to get there. They're in
(01:42):
the semi final of Open Cup, as we know, coming
up on a Wednesday. I mean, it's a tremendous LAFC team,
but it did come to an end in the quarterfinals,
and I think, you know, just taking a moment to
evalue it and take a look back at the last
month of Open Cup is needed before we move on.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah, there were some great moments for Seattle. The Puma's
game was such a great victory. I think that's one
of the best ones I've seen in a number of years.
You're playing against a really good quality opponent that's winning
in League MX. I think they came in at three
wins and one loss. Seattle man handled them. They handled
a bunch of pressure. There are a bunch of great
moments for individual players, and there was a lot of
(02:20):
great teamwork together. The Galaxy game was terrific. Seattle again
very much on the front foot, scoring good goals, gave
one up at the end, but I was a terrific performance.
And then LAFC we hit a juggernaut that is a
really good team that is in stride right now and
getting reinforcements even though they are phenomenal, but getting Jiu
(02:43):
all of a sudden you kind of say, okay, and
now you've added another level and Kai Kamara comes in
and holy cow, that kid has done incredibly well.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
There's no shame in losing three nothing to them. It's
really sad and frustrating that it happened. But I think
every team, I mean, I don't know if you watched
the Colorado game, the four nothing game, but it's it's
kind of clear like.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Oh, okay, yeah, they are on a roll. Right now,
there's no question. I mean, that is just a very
good team, very well organized, surprisingly very direct. They get it,
they launch it, but they they are they know what
they're doing, and then they're very opportunistic. So I think
there were good moments in the League's Cup for the
Sounders disappointing. It's great that we've got LAFC Wednesday at
(03:23):
Starfire for the Open Cup to try to get that back.
But Jordan might's tired losing to l a f C.
And I think I think that's a sentiment all the
way across the board, and you have that once in
a while, you have that, there's teams that can be
dominant with you, and so you've got to you've got
to find a way have the resolve and the grit
to to get you know, back at them. And hopefully
(03:43):
Wednesday that can be a unique opportunity at Starfire five
thousand people.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
I mean, and we'll see what in Starfair ends up
looking like.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
It's going to be such an incredible atmosphere on Wednesday,
and we obviously we don't want to look ahead too
much to that. We'll do that as some in post game,
but I will quickly say, I mean LAFC plays tomorrow
in the Leaguet Cup Final, so they have one less
day arrest and they have to travel to Seattle on Tuesday.
So Sounders have a good situation by those regards. We'll
see who LAFC even then rolls out on a Wednesday
(04:14):
after playing a final on Sunday. So very interesting dynamics
ahead for Wednesday. We'll talk about that in the postgame show.
But tonight, it is the resumption of MLS action. It
is Minnesota United. It is a road game for the
first time in like it feels like four months, it's
really only two months that the Sounders have actually played
a road game. So with that, let's kind of break
(04:36):
this thing down. Let's quickly get to the Delta, starting
eleven for the Sounders. I'll rattle this off pretty quick
because it is exactly what everybody has just seen. Stephan
Fryan goal new. Who's your left back? You're right back
will be Alex Roldan. Your two center backs Jackson Reagan,
Jamar Gomez Andrade. Holding midfielders are Jual Paulo and Obed Vargas.
(04:56):
Your three they're attacking midfielders are of course Paul Rothrock,
Christian ro with Albert Rusnack between them and Jordan Morris.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Up top quickly.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
The Providence Swedish team health report includes three players. Bradivio
Rodriguez is still out with his hamstring injury that he's
had for a while. Two players questionable Cody Baker with
a wrist he is not available, Jackson Reagan with a head.
He was questionable, but as I mentioned, he is in
the starting line up today. Today's team health Report is
presented by Provident Swedish official healthcare partner.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Of Sounders FC so Pete.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
I mean, the number one thing that jumps off the
page at the Delta starting love and for Brian Schmenzer
is the consistency. And consistency is great, but they will
have to play much better than this group did one
week ago in that loss.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
They've got to get back to what they did with
Puma's in La Galaxy. That's for sure. They're very capable
of that. I think they really took one on the
chin in the last one with LAFC. But if they
go back to the form, get the service that they
were getting from the flanks, the opportunistic inside the box,
and then defensively they've got to be really strong today.
(06:01):
You know, this is a Minnesota team that hasn't played
for three weeks right there, so they're chomping at the bit.
I do like that Seattle's on the road for this
one and the fact that it's Minnesota. We have had
a tremendous run against Minnesota. We talk about LAFC against Seattle,
but Seattle against Minnesota has been exceptional over the course
(06:21):
of a couple of years and then even going back
to the USL days. So Seattle just they've got to
weather it a little bit at the beginning and absorb
the energy that Minnesota will bring. And Minnesota brings some
new talent to the field as well. Once they get
their feet under them, get comfortable, then they've got to
start applying the pressure.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Let's talk some more about Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
We'll take a break here on the Providence Swedish pre
match show, and then it takes some time to talk
about the Loons as they call them. We are just
about fifteen minutes away from kickoff at Allonsfield in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Today's contdown to Kickoff is presented by Emerald Queen Casino,
the entertainment capital of the Northwest, Jackson, Felt and Pete
viewing on the pre match show. We'll continue next on
Sports Radio Night three point three KJRFM HI.

Now back to Seattle Sounders Sucker on sports Radio ninety
three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Welcome back to the Providence sweetsh pre Mat Show, Jackson,
Face Felts and Pete feuing here counting you down to kickoff.
Danny Jackson and Brad Evans will have the call of
Sounders and Minnesota United here coming up in just under
fifteen minutes. Well, it's time for today's Sharp Vision opponent
Alex taking a look at today's hosts in Minnesota United.
The opponent ALK is presented by Sharp Vision, Modern lask
(10:30):
and Lens, the official Lasik provider of Sounders fc SO.
Minnesota just a couple spots back of Seattle, as I mentioned,
ninth place compared to Seattle's seventh. They have nine wins,
ten losses, six draws, thirty three points. They last played,
which was back in Seattle just a few weeks ago
in League's Cup Action. They lost to nothing in the
(10:52):
group stage. They then, you know, I think they did
get a win over in Nakasa, but it wasn't good enough.
And what happened was the Sounders advanced into the next
round and Minnesota did not, because of course Ncox had
beat the Sounders. So as it works out right, now
Minnesota has a chance to kind of start their resumption
of the MLS on the right foot because they have
(11:14):
not played for quite a long time.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Pete.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
It's a team that has gotten reinforcements. They are better
on paper, but they certainly need to look a lot
better on the field than they have the last two
times they've seen Seattle, which were both two nothing Sounders
wins up in lumin Field.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yeah, no question, And you know it's an interesting ones.
It's thirteen wins for Seattle, one lost two ties overall,
that is quite dominance. And this morning Brian was talking
about some of those games, and I remember a game
at Minnesota. I think we're playing at the University of
Minnesota Gopher Stadium, and that Minnesota's up won nothing late
(11:53):
late late in the game, and I think the second
goal to put us up two to one was a
Will Bruin karm that came off of him exactly right. Yeah,
and uh, and you know Brian back then, Adrian the
former head coach of Minnesota. They always share a glass
of wine. It's an old English tradition. And yeah, Adrian
did it. God bless him because the fact that he
(12:13):
went in and after just you know, they had the
game in hand, uh, and then they ended up, you know,
giving it away. So is that part of this game today.
We'll have to make sure that Seattle is sharp about that.
Brian has not talked about that, uh with the team
too much, but Seattle's had the dominance. But you're right,
they've got some new players and they've got you know,
we really have. We have Jordan Morris with nine goals.
(12:35):
We have Rudias with eight, but he's not been playing
a lot, right. We have Paul Rothrock with two, and
then we have nine guys with one. This is a
Minnesota team that has a few more goal scorers, so
we've got to make sure that we keep him out
of the back of the net for that first forty
five minutes.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yeah, Teammumpooki up front. He's a good plea.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
He doesn't have the stats this year, four goals, only
one assist, but we know he has size and he
has ability, you know, coming from I believe finished national team.
He has some appearances. He's a good player for them.
Sounders are gonna have to worry about some key players.
It's funny. Before we move on, you mentioned that two
to one win over Minnesota, the comeback where you know,
Will Bruin flicks it in and Brian kind of does
(13:13):
that little move that we had this sideline camera.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
We see him, Brian even kind of doing him. Oh, yes,
it's the goal.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
We came back, we scored two extra time goals, and
we pulled off a win. We have hosts on the
KGr station who pull audio, and when things happen on
our broadcast, they're like, that's a fun thing, the audio,
we should pull that. Here was the start of the
postgame show with myself and James Riley after that Minnesota win.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
I can't breathe. I literally can't breathe right now.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
James Riley, I actually am having a hard time keeping
myself composed on the radio. I had a hard time
keeping myself composed on the radio. It was hard to breathe.
I'm sure for Brian Schmitzer that moment was a little
bit hard to breathe. But that was a fun win.
There in probably just a few miles from where they're
playing this game, did beautiful New Orleans stadium for Minnesota.
(14:01):
Let's switch gears, Pete, and let's get to because we're
tight on time. Kickoff is like less than ten minutes away. Now,
who's your Sounders player to watch.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Well, it's Stephen Fry's four hundredth regular season start today,
so he's our captain. I'm gonna go with him. We
need to shut out He's got to come up with
some big saves. Watching the EPL this morning, goalkeepers really
came up big for West Ham especially, so I'm hoping
that Stephan Fry. It's a bit of a sentimental choice.
I thought about al Albert Rusnik as well. We need
(14:30):
him on the offensive side, but we need a clean
sheet today.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
You know what I think we need an angry Jordan Morris.
Jordan was angry and motivated against Pumas. We saw that
fury and that fight come out in the form of
two goals. I want to see that angry fighting Jordan
back who you know, you'll see whether it's coming off
of the LAFC loss, whatever's motivating him. Let's get some motivation,
let's get it going, and I want to see Jordan
in that mode tonight to score goals and get the
(14:54):
Sounders a win in Minnesota. We'll take it one more
break here in the pre match show. We'll come back
because we are less than ten minutes away from kickoff
at Allons Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Today's count dowt

have faced sixteen times across all competitions, Sounders thirteen wins,
(18:44):
two draws, and only one loss, that coming in July
of twenty twenty one out in this Minnesota out at
Orleans Park where they are playing again today. Pete, what
are your keys to this match?
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Well, it does start with the defensive side, uh, and
we've got a lock it down. Make sure that you
know pook it front is dangerous getting in behind. That's
where his strength is and that's probably where maybe Jackson
Reagan's weaknesses. So they're a good combination, Gomez Andrade and
Jackson together, but they can't let him get in behind.
That's going to be very important service from the flanks.
(19:17):
I'll tell you what. They've got a couple of guys
bought and I think law excuse me, Lot has eleven
assists this year and he's on the right hand side.
So not letting him get his crosses in as well.
That's going to be an important one. And then it's
on our side, on the offensive side, we've got to
make sure we get our crosses in. Can we get
Jordan Morris the ball where he does his best work.
(19:39):
Can Albert Rusnik sit in that little hole right, collect it,
go at people, slip Jordan in, slip it wide to Rothrock.
Rothrock's been fantastic getting on the end of crosses. Christian's
got to do the same thing on his part, getting
on the end of Paul's crosses. So it's it's got
to go back to what we did, you know, the
game against LAFC, excuse me, the LA Galaxy and then
(20:00):
the Pumas game as well. They've got to be that
kind of sharp. Restarts have got to be important. You know,
we did pretty well on restarts getting goals. We didn't
do that against LAFC. We had a lot of cornerkicks,
so we've got to make sure that we put some
of those chances home.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, Sounders have two wins over Minnesota this year, both
of them to nothing, both of them in Seattle. We'll
see what difference this looks like here playing in Saint Paul.
We'll throw out to Danny Jackson and Brad Evans. They

including two dps. As Eric Ramsy's group looks to rekindle
their early season form. For Brian Schmetz, he will be
looking to continue their success against Minnesota, losing only one.
Speaker 10 (24:36):
Time in MLS play.
Speaker 20 (24:39):
With only nine games to go, the run into the
playoffs starts tonight. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders captain
Brad Evans for the core tonight. Before we get you
to Brad's initial thoughts, let's get you the Delta.
Speaker 10 (24:52):
Starting eleven for your Sounders.
Speaker 20 (24:55):
No changes for Brian Schmetz as Stepan Fryan Gold about
of Alex rolled On, Jeamar Reagan and Nuhu obit Vargas
alongside JP in the middle, Christian rolled On on the right,
Rouznak in the middle for Rothrock on the left, and
Jordan Morris as your number nine up front for Eric
Ramsey and his Minnesota United team.
Speaker 10 (25:18):
Are three five two or five three to two. We'll
see how it stands.
Speaker 20 (25:22):
Dan Sinclair and the goal are back three of Tapias
boxhaul and then debutant Jefferson Diaz San being Jean on
the right, Joseph Rosales with tennisists on the year on
the left, Dotson, Trapp and lud in the middle, and
then the debutant Kevin Yoboa up front alongside Timu Pooki.
Speaker 10 (25:45):
So as we get us these two.
Speaker 20 (25:46):
Teams getting lined up to start, Minnesota get us kicked off.
They're facing the Sounders attacking the goal to our right.
Sounders in their anniversary kit with green shirts, blue shorts
and sucks. They're attacking the goal to left. Minnesota in
that old Doc kit Navy and Black attacking the goal
to our right. So as the teams get going, Brad,
(26:09):
what do these two teams, especially the Sounders have to
do try and get these three points that push themselves
up the table.
Speaker 18 (26:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Look, I think it's about getting off on the red
foot in this game away from home. It's a team
that the Sounders have had a lot of success against
since Minnesota came into Major League Soccer, and tonight it's
about the Sounders playing sharp defensively. You saw it. The
game against LAFC wasn't as tight. Looked like LFC was
a different level. And now the Sounders have to establish
themselves with eight league games left to go. Obviously the
Open Cup coming up midweek, but this is all about
(26:37):
getting three points away from home, and this is a
winnable game for the Sounders. And for Minnesota, they haven't
played here in a month. They've been off since they
lost their their game against Nakasa three over three weeks
ago now, and so for them it's getting in front
of their home fans, building the energy early and trying
to pile it on the Sounders. And we know that
Sounders away from home, they can't just sit back defensively.
(26:58):
It's about establishing your game early on in this one
and putting the ball on the back of the net.
Speaker 20 (27:03):
All goes into JP enough yam on here they come,
you know, the high press from Minnesota. JP gets his
anchors clipped by Lud who's had seventeen goal contributions on
his year, career high for Robin Ludd six goals eleven
assists on his year and as head coach Ert Ramsey
(27:23):
mentioned during the week they've had a somewhat of a
preseason er. Ramsey came in late to the start of
the season for Manchester United and it was Cameron Knowles
who got the team going as a interim head coach
come off to a real good start. Ramsey came in,
so he's had a chance now to get them on
the practice field, start to incorporate some of these new
players and he's excited to get some health back on
(27:46):
the field. Two top goal scorers are out of the
starting eleven, one of them being long one who's on
the bench, Aloach is out of the squad today.
Speaker 10 (27:58):
It comes to Minnesota.
Speaker 20 (27:59):
To switch the ball left this near side the Minnesota
right Sambiingjean playing on this right hand side of a five.
Speaker 10 (28:08):
Defensively and then three are offensive. We will see how
they kind of break out. They're playing at home.
Speaker 20 (28:12):
They have to find some results in these final nine
games themselves. The ball gets launched long by Saint Clair,
who had a game of games against Nakexa over twenty
saves on that game and their.
Speaker 10 (28:25):
Last outing where they got their result here.
Speaker 20 (28:28):
Much to the efforts of their goalkeeper, who keep viewing
and I were chatting just before we went on air
mentioning that Saint Clair really has come into his own
as well. We were surprised his age twenty seven years old,
not his early twenties. So I had established himself and
the sticks for Minnesota. As JP gets his pocket picked
middle of the park, here comes Pooki driving forward the
(28:51):
number twenty two out to Yo.
Speaker 10 (28:53):
Boa drops his shoulder.
Speaker 20 (28:55):
Around Yea Mar goes towards the end line goal kick Sounders.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Here in the fourth note, you can see what your
bo wants to do. It's a new player, a new
face for the Sounders. You can look at video on
any player you want to. It's a guy who had
a massive transfer just a couple of years ago, and
a guy like that is looking for space and speed,
and you can see that's what he wants to do.
But the Sounders do a good job defending well, keeping
your feet I think in games pass they might go
to ground early, but it's three minutes into this one.
(29:20):
Most likely the striker is going to take a touch
into distance as they build into a game. A new
player for this seam. But like you said before, I
think Ramsey will actually be happy with this extended time
he's had with his team to kind of establish a
way he wants to play. Like you said, almost a
preseason of sorts to get guys ready. But you saw
it on the flip side last year the Sounders got
knocked out and then Atlanta came in. Schmetz told us
(29:41):
wanted to remind us that the Sounders got smashed in
that game as Atlanta came into Seattle and put one
on the Sounders after a long layaway. So yes, can
it be beneficial for the team to establish how they
want to play in the last eight games of the season.
But at the end of the day, it's players you
want to be on the pitch. You want to have
that consistency and going into it. Spez said yes, with
a quick turnaround against LAFC. It's only four days, but
(30:03):
he was happy with that amount of time. Sounders have
had such a congested fixtures as of late. It'll allow
the Sounders just to keep.
Speaker 20 (30:10):
In rhythm, yep, get a breath and then of course
a big week ahead of them, starting today midweek LAFC
in the semi finals.
Speaker 10 (30:17):
Of the US Open Cup at Starfire.
Speaker 20 (30:20):
And then on Labor Day weekend, on Saturday night, they
go into Portland and play their foe, the Timbers. One
of two games against the Timbers and these final nine games,
the last being the final game of the season decision
Day on October nineteenth against the Timbers at Looming Fields,
(30:40):
the ball goes into russneck deflexof Diaz goes over the
end line. Good early counter by the Sounders on the
right hand side Corny Kate.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Remains nil nil Yeah, good move from the Sounder's just
heads up play for Jordan, and I know that box
All will be spinning his head tonight and he's filled
in the other defenders, especially the new arrivals, on what
speed can do. And here it is Jordan, just a
little in and out. We know that there's no other
side on a throw in Bruce Knack in the perfect spot,
right on the penalty spot, and here's that one with
the inside foot and a good defensive play from Minnesota
(31:08):
Sounders cornerkick corner kicks.
Speaker 20 (31:11):
Sounders weren't able to capitalize for so many corner kicks
over two hundred corner kicks, but now Pare comes in.
Speaker 10 (31:18):
It was the Sounders against Ella Galaxy.
Speaker 20 (31:21):
Is roll done, slices, is shot high and why it's
gonna be a goalkick for Minnesota.
Speaker 10 (31:25):
But it was against the Galaxy in League's.
Speaker 20 (31:27):
Cup where the Sounders from set pieces broke out. Yeamar
got in the end of a direct corner kick from
Rusnak and then from a rebound it was Jackson Reagan
to poke the ball in to make it an early
two zero lead against the Galaxy at that time. But
the Sounder, especially in these run in brad especially away
from home.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
We've known it throughout the years.
Speaker 20 (31:45):
Whatever level you play, set pieces are vital in these
kind of games.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Yeah, it's funny how set pieces are vital in away games,
and you often talk about it in championship games as well. Now, yes,
it might be even at home in those situations, but
they just become so vital.
Speaker 10 (31:59):
Well, it goes walking towards the end line, just comes
off as.
Speaker 20 (32:04):
Backside and stays in playball gets launched long into Morris,
who was quiet against LAFC in this last game where
that Sounders went down three to nil, identical score line
to that loss against LAFC in their last MLS regular
season game. But for the Sounders it's only finn two
(32:25):
losses in their their last twelve or so, beaten.
Speaker 10 (32:28):
Both against LFC.
Speaker 20 (32:29):
The Sounders have really taken a grip on what the
coming months looks like, pushing themselves up the point standing
currently sitting in seventh first game of the weekend here
in Minnesota. Ball goes down the line fast side the
right to Jordan Morris, already looks more active in today's
game to Rosnek, We'll see if the Sounders can dictate
(32:50):
tempo and possession, which they like to do both at
home and away. Picked up by Knew who on this
near side of the left driving forwarde it pinched in,
rolls it out to Rougher getting another.
Speaker 10 (33:01):
Star on that left hand side. Had a really good
run in League's Cup. Three goals in.
Speaker 20 (33:07):
That run, one of them being against Minnesota that two
nil win. Bold the right handside whip ten clear by
tips picked up on the left hand side.
Speaker 10 (33:20):
By rosal Is.
Speaker 20 (33:21):
Tennis sists on his gyat the outside left player. Already
we'll see Minnesota dropping in a back line of five defensively.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Well, here's what Jordan has to do what he didn't
do in the LAFC game. You've already seen it twice. Now,
if you're gonna play against three in the back, you're
you're one against three. The ball up the middle and
up the spine, you're not gonna be able to have
success if it's played over the top or even through.
So his ability now to find channels wide and isolate
box on bring one of the center backs out. Now,
the responsibility is on Rusnak to get in the box,
and also on Rothrock on the far side as the
(33:51):
weak sided midfielder to tuck in. We've seen it twice already,
and you can see him on the last play pointing
for them to play the ball wide to Christian so
that he can get isolated wide. If Jordan doesn't come,
that's where the outside midfielders have to have that creativity
to beat their man one on one.
Speaker 20 (34:05):
Of course, LAFC went from a four to or three
against the Saunders and stayed that way in their second game.
Speaker 10 (34:10):
All goes to the.
Speaker 20 (34:11):
Right inside to Ben Jong who tries to roll it
in short picked up by Rothrock with his left foot
cleared and closed down.
Speaker 10 (34:18):
Well like DS steps way up the field.
Speaker 20 (34:23):
Debutante for Minnesota coming in from Columbia, young twenty three
year old central defender playing.
Speaker 10 (34:28):
In that three on the right hand side.
Speaker 20 (34:31):
And we know Alliance Field, they've hosted US national team games.
Speaker 10 (34:35):
They've hosted big games throughout the years. It's always a
raucous place to go.
Speaker 20 (34:38):
And we talk about those areas around the country that
has a hotbed of soccer.
Speaker 10 (34:42):
Minnesota is definitely that bread.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Yeah, that's a nater challenge away from newho All.
Speaker 20 (34:49):
The yellow card for newho it's a lunge tackle just
in the left channel about fifteen yards or so from
the Endlins could be dangerous spot for Minnesota to this
ball in.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
I think for Minnesota, they have the history similar to Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Right,
they've been around for a long long time. And anytime
you have that, you have that culture of soccer, it's
gonna inspire the youth to play anywhere you are. Right,
growing up in Phoenix, we didn't have it and so
you kind of had to create it and manufacture it yourself.
You really had to love the game. You didn't really
have guys to look up to like a Schmittz that
you could say I want to play like him. And
(35:21):
so from Minnesota they have it. They know that they've
got it, and you can tell the fans come out
and droves even when it's not that successful of a season.
Speaker 20 (35:30):
Here comes Minnesota on their right channel, eighteen yards from
the end line. We whipped him from Mezales tour with
the back post, good left, whick footed ball.
Speaker 10 (35:40):
Before I goes to the debck.
Speaker 20 (35:41):
Referee cause a foul, it's gonna be a sound As
free kick just inside that six yard books. Here in
the tenth minute in Saint Paul, Minnesota, it's Minnesota United nil,
Sounders nil, and it's a true six point to today
full points separates the team Sounders in seventh coming in
today's game, Minnesota ninth Sounds can get that win up
(36:05):
creates a seven point gap between the two teams. But conversely,
if Minnesota, of course get that three points, it closes.
Speaker 10 (36:11):
That gap to one.
Speaker 20 (36:13):
So every game matters now on this run. In League's
Cup Final tomorrow between Columbus and LAFC, Brian mentioned LAFC
could have an emotional game tomorrow going into Columbus, not
an easy place to play.
Speaker 10 (36:26):
And then have to come into starfire.
Speaker 20 (36:27):
Here comes Jordan Morris in man the back, three in
the back and then it goes.
Speaker 10 (36:32):
Wonderful composed finish from.
Speaker 20 (36:34):
Jordan Morris, just that Brad Evans said, get in that
space between the center backs, finds the spot and then
the back of the net it goes and that is
his tenth goal of the year and the first Sounders
player to get five seasons with.
Speaker 10 (36:52):
Ten plus goals for that man puts them up one nil.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
And this finish is fantastic. We just talked about it.
How do you isolate yourself against three in the back.
At the end of soccer's about turnovers and you see
it here. It's a switch ball from Minnesota and you
see lud come up here for a header and the
ground he just slips and then Obed Vargas takes a touch.
He's well on side in that play, a little checked run.
Look at this. Think of a finish that finds a
side netting and box al. It's always gonna be the
(37:16):
guy that Jordan has to isolate. He doesn't have the speed. Yes,
he's got the brain. He's got the savviness and experience,
but speed kills. And we've seen Jordan do this against
box Over before. That's a class finish from the Sounders.
And before that was gonna say this game didn't have
too much pace and bite to it. You thought that
Minnesota would come out and try those balls over the top,
but they seemed content with just keeping possession. Not a
(37:36):
lot of Sounders to just settle in and wait wait
for the turnovers. Today we talked to Schmidtz, where do
you want the line of confrontation to be just on
top of the d And that's just about where Jordan
was on that one as the ball turned over and
just into space, and that's a class finish. We didn't
get too many looks at this replay.
Speaker 20 (37:52):
Hey, come, the sound is getting down the right handside
towards the end line is well done.
Speaker 10 (37:56):
Cuts it back to that man. Marris tries to turn
out of pressure. Minnesota come back.
Speaker 20 (38:00):
Well, the Sounders on the counter attack Breda really causing
Minnesota problems these early minutes.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah, look away from home, that's how you want to play.
But also I think the Sounders are dictating the pace
of play in this one with good possession patients in
the back and around the midfield. It needs to be
a little bit tighter from JP. He'll be the first
one to tell you that the first couple passes a
little bit errand. But for the better part of this
first half so far, the Sounders have dictated wait, wait
for the turnovers, and that's kind of the name again
(38:26):
of the game away from Home is wait for the
possibility of a turnover and just get him behind.
Speaker 10 (38:30):
Paul goes in behind again.
Speaker 20 (38:32):
This time Saint Claire reached the danger well it was
rolled on trying to get him behind Rosales. Saint Claire
comes off out the eighteen yard box clear as there's lines.
It's gonna be a thrown for the Sounders on the
far side. The Sounders right. Good start here in Saint
Paul for the Sounders. Thirteen minutes gone, Sounders leading off
the back of a Jordan Morris goal, his tenth goal.
Speaker 10 (38:54):
Of the year.
Speaker 20 (38:55):
But the Sounders warn the up and they have enjoyed
some record against Minnesota over the years thirteen one and
two in all competitions. Their only loss was back just
a few years ago one nil. Sounds have been dominant
from this season. It's already been two wins out of two,
(39:16):
both two goals to nil, both off the back of
a Morris and roth Rock goal. So that's Morris's third
goal against Minnesota in twenty twenty four. In three games,
all gets clipped down the line easily picked up by
knew who and certainly for Minnesota now Brad going behind
(39:40):
early at home when they know that three points is important.
They've got freshness on the field now, players are back healthy,
they've got in integrate some new players into the lineup.
They're going to have to start chasing this game, maybe
coming out that block of five and pushing into a three.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Yeah, I think we've seen the Sounders in this position
at home before. Yes, it's important to push the pace
of the game, but it's also at this point, fourteen
minutes in, you have to still stay tactically sound and
tactically strong because as soon as you get away from
the tactics one person, even, it kind of ruins the
rhythm for the entire team, and that's where the Sounders
can punish you. Right, So, plenty of time for Minnesota
(40:15):
to get back in this one, and now the Sounders
it's just about establishing real estate is what Ziggy used
to say, right up the field. So if you're gonna
play the ball over the top, they kick it out
for a throw in, Well you just established another forty
yards and that's where you have to keep the ball
and make Minnesota work. If you start to let them
come forward and inch their way into this game, that's
where you're gonna get into trouble. But for Minnesota, I
think you stick with the tactics, try to get your
(40:37):
new players involved. As you see, they're just kind of
not on the same page just yet.
Speaker 18 (40:42):
Right.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
You get the thumbs up from your Boa, but this
is something that's going to take time as you integrate
new players. I mean, we're accustomed to that with de
la Vega, right, we still don't know what we're getting
out of de la Vega just yet.
Speaker 10 (40:54):
Well, certainly dela Vega on the bench tonight.
Speaker 20 (40:56):
It's been in two weeks of full practice. His injury
picked up against the CASA in League's Cup play wasn't
as serious as first thought.
Speaker 10 (41:07):
Good for him, good for us.
Speaker 20 (41:09):
And yes, the Sounders haven't been active in the transfer window,
but you've got della Vega to come back into this
team and he will feel like a new signing for
Brian Schmetzer and his men. The ball gets launched long,
challenged by roll Don Well flicks it up to Jordan Morrice,
passed back into Rolldn. It gets Lord nudge in the back,
retains possession of Rothart It's nearside the left closed down
(41:31):
quickly by Diaz.
Speaker 10 (41:33):
Tries to go through the legs of DZ.
Speaker 20 (41:34):
Does Rothrock cleared well by the big Colombian central defender,
but the Sounders do pick it up love a slice
clearance by jp Or sloppy again in the middle of
the park for JP's He gets settled into this game.
Sixteen minutes gone here nine point fifty sorry, ninety three
point three KGr FM Sounders leading one goal to nil.
(42:00):
Yeah steps up, ball in his hands. We've thrown down
the line, well defended by JP's who comes away.
Speaker 10 (42:06):
He wins the ball, as does Knew.
Speaker 7 (42:09):
Who.
Speaker 20 (42:11):
Heads it out of bounds, and Minnesota slowly make their way.
Speaker 10 (42:15):
Up the field.
Speaker 20 (42:15):
Here comes Boxel has been out for a number of weeks.
Back in the lineup today. He's the one that got
caught out when they gave up possession in the middle
of the field. Sounder was able to take advantage boxhol
was in no man's land, couldn't step, couldn't track Morris.
It was Morris who went in behind and finished extremely well.
Or comes in off that man box a long throwing
(42:36):
headed clear by JP, who shifts out, try and close
the ball down. Three Sounders players wrapped around Rosales and
here come the Sounders in transition. Ros Neck to the left,
rolled on driving forward through the middle of the park,
plays it out to the right hand side to Jordan
Morris closed down by bing Jon lo back heel towards GP, who.
Speaker 10 (42:53):
Was up in support, shows the Sounders enthusiasm. We got
a JP running up sixty yards to support.
Speaker 20 (43:00):
His men his Minnesota to clear their lines, but not
well straight to the foot of Yama.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yeah, I mean yeah, JP running. I think it was
more of a job JP jogging. JP is looking a
little sluggish out there today. But this is a guy
that's got so much experience that yes, he's going to
put in one hundred percent effort. And you know, Jordan
tries a little bit of a back heel there and
JP just not on the same page. But the Sounders
in every position to pick up every second ball right now,
which is important away from home. Right, you're putting in
(43:27):
the defensive effort and if you don't win the first one,
you gotta win the second one. And so far the
Sounders have been up to the task.
Speaker 20 (43:33):
Falling behind by Minnesota almost found the foot of your
bow is making a slashing run between Reagan and Yema,
and I've got to say your Boa might be one
of my favorite new players to sign for MLS. Why
he's the nephew of a certain Tony you Boa, who
was a legend for Legia Knights back in the mid nineties. Wow,
I remember I was a ballboy against Liverpool ninety five
(43:54):
Night six season, first game of the year, you Boa
scored the goal of the season, smash the volley his
right foot off the crossbar, and I was directly in
line with I could watch that ball move in the air,
hit the crossbar. Okay, it's a certain Davy James and goal.
He was a cult hearer for Leeds back in the day.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
And let's hope it doesn't happen tonight. No, that was
a one and done for bigs of boas we're hoping.
Speaker 10 (44:15):
So it comes JP outside of the foot flicks it
down the line.
Speaker 20 (44:21):
This knee side the left just scoots through to the
foot of Sinclair. Nineteen minutes going here, Sounders leading by
an early Morris Gold one nil.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Well, you can tell we're nineteen minutes in. You figured,
after a month away from home, that this Minnesota United
fan base would be on their feet and kind of
encouraging their team. And as we look around the pitch,
we look around the screen, they're all sitting down. It
seems quiet and almost like the energy when we first
had our little pregame session was louder than it is
right now in this stadium. And that's a credit to
the Sounders Minnesota giving nothing to the fan base right
(44:52):
now to get them into this one. And so I
think it's a brilliant game plan so far. Schmitt's will
be tactically happy about this one.
Speaker 20 (45:00):
In left hand Cidebersars coming off that left hand side
across the field, plays it in short to dots and
Federal Way, native established player in the middle of the
park for Minnesota these days, always picks it up, rolls
it out short to lud because they kind of work
through now the midfield back to box A who's gonna
(45:22):
step actually.
Speaker 10 (45:22):
Tapias, who's gonna use his left foot. He's got to
clip it along and loan from Batchuka goes over the top.
Speaker 20 (45:27):
Well cleared by Nu over his shoulder, difficult technique, managed
to bring it down. Clears his line is gonna be
a throwing on this near side for Minnesota. Right in
front of the Minnesota bench and head coach Eric Ramsey,
thirty one years old when he came into Minnesota earlier
this year. Camra Renoles sits on the bench, assistant coach.
(45:49):
Got this team after a great start, stepping in on
an interim roll before a Ramsey was able to leave
his position at Manchester United and come in. Bull gets
flipped up in the air by Daz, challenged well by Yama.
Clearses lines Minnesota asking the referee to look at that
as bekase Yaboa still on the deck with Yemar that man.
(46:13):
Yemar clearses line's left foot, slices it out, clipped over
the near touch line. Here, look down your bow was
a Yamar clearance. That was a little bit erratic clip
the heels of your boa. Referee hasn't given anything, Greg,
Do you see that found make anything of it?
Speaker 2 (46:32):
I don't really make anything of this one. I don't
think he's going to be too interested in even taking
a second look at this one, but for this out
and that's what a long throw in can do at
the end of the day. It causes chaos in the box.
The ball gets flipped up in the air by Minnesota
player and then all of a sudden, as you're a
center back and you can't get there with your head,
you got to make a play on the ball because
if Minnesota takes a touch one way or the other,
(46:53):
then you're behind the gun. But it looks like they
might be looking at this one.
Speaker 20 (47:01):
Well, the crowd noise you hear is because the referee
has signaled the VAR and off he trots to the
far sideline where.
Speaker 10 (47:10):
The VAR monitor and video review will happen.
Speaker 20 (47:13):
Two players put their foot up. It was your Boa.
Looks like they maybe got the touch. Yemo missed the ball.
It was a clash of bodies.
Speaker 10 (47:26):
And it looks like on the replay Brad Yemo did.
Speaker 20 (47:29):
Make connection with you Boa after the central striker touched
the ball.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
Yeah, and I'm just not sure that that's worth a
penalty kick in that situation, there's gonna be no control.
Both players are going up for a fifty to fifty. Yes,
he catches the back of his leg, but it's hard
to even tell if he kicks the back of his
leg all that hard. Of course, if it was for
the Sounders, I'd probably say it was a penalty kick
in this situation, but I'm not sure if there's enough there.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
Off the review, there is a kicking foul committed by
Seattle number twenty eight.
Speaker 10 (48:05):
Final decision penalty. There you have it.
Speaker 20 (48:08):
The Rep three these days reports his findings to the crowd.
Speaker 10 (48:15):
And the decision has been made.
Speaker 20 (48:16):
Penalty for Minnesota as Jama connected with the back of
your bower's leg. And we'll see if the new number nine,
on his debut in MLS, his debut for Minnesota too,
will step up and take this penalty.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
As a center back, I'm not sure what more you
want him to do. Yemar is looking at the ball
the entire time. He's not trying to make a play
on the on the player, and then that's just a
tough one for a center back. And before that was
gonna mention Minnesota taking a long throw in killed the
pace of the game. If I'm at home, I'm trying
to get everything in quick and really put the Sounders
under pressure. But at the end of the day, these
(48:57):
long throwings caused chaos. And here's the proof.
Speaker 10 (49:01):
Step for and Fry.
Speaker 20 (49:03):
Shaved head decked out in all yellow captain for the Sounders,
stands on the goal line. Your Boa, new signing for
Minnesota in the summer transfer window in from Genoa of Italy,
was on loan to Standardly Asian Belgium less part of
(49:24):
the season.
Speaker 10 (49:25):
From February on. Now he's got a chance.
Speaker 20 (49:27):
To get his MLS account.
Speaker 10 (49:32):
Started.
Speaker 20 (49:33):
Takes a big breath, five steps away, steps forward, sutter
step plays it and cool as you like, back of
the net, celebrates with what looks like a cup of
tea celebration.
Speaker 10 (49:47):
And it puts Minnesota on the board. Minnesota United one,
Sounders one.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Yeah, looks a well taken pik from your ball. He
steps up, takes a deep breath, takes a couple of steps,
steph tries to go down to his riding a sudden
the bull gets put in the back of the net
right footed keeper's left and he SIPs the tee. But
y Bo hasn't been a main fixture in this game
so far. Minnesota hasn't been quality, but Sometimes you don't
(50:13):
have to be Sometimes you just have to create chaos
in the box. R Boa steps up here, little stutter step,
big step, puts it to his right, STEP's left puts
in the back of the net. Minnesota one to one.
But the Sounders no reason to panic. You asked me earlier,
what does Minnesota have to do with this boy? The
Sounders still have to stick to their game plan. It's
a penalty kick. At the end of the day, it
wasn't from brilliant play for Minnesota. Plenty of time to
(50:33):
get back in this one and just play the way
that Schmetts want wants them to play, and I think
they'll still be success left in this game.
Speaker 20 (50:42):
It pays it all good penalty takers. Now stare at
the goalkeeper, wait for that move from the goalie, and
then just slotch it the other side.
Speaker 10 (50:50):
That's exactly what you Boa did for his.
Speaker 20 (50:51):
First goal for Minnesota, first goal in MLS since his transfer.
Tony stings up here. Twenty five minutes gone. Crowd, Now,
the more boisterous Sounders need to take a breath. We
know the next five minutes after you concede or score
is when you can be most vulnerable. Sounds have been
punished this season already just like that. But Sounders have
(51:15):
played well in this first twenty five minutes. Unfortunate goal
given by VR decision, soem, I'll try to clear his
lines connected with your boa. Referee deemed it to be
a foul. Conclusive evidence shown on the camera and we're
one one here in Saint Paul well Tonight's match is
(51:36):
presented by I'm quite Bank, the official banking partner of
Seattle Sounders FC.
Speaker 10 (51:42):
I'm quite Bank together for the better Sounds have it.
Speaker 20 (51:47):
Fast side the right to Vargas have been quiet so
far in this game. Hopes it forward to rolled down
clip down the line to that man Vargas running towards
box or it takes a heavy touch over the end line.
Corner kick Sounders corner kick of the game, a chance
for the Sounders off a set piece to try and
get back on the board and get back up in.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
This game we see this last play. I mean it's
up back and through from the Sounders and that's the
player you have to isolate. It is gonna be box Ale.
In these situations, speed is gonna kill. And in that
situation he knows that obed Vargas is younger, fit or faster,
and the only thing he can do is take a
heavy touch, feeling the pressure, puts it out for a
corner kick. First first corner kick for the Sounders to Rusnak,
not in the spot that it should have been one.
Speaker 20 (52:29):
I'm up by Rosnick outswing on the right hand side
and it comes to corner to six.
Speaker 10 (52:32):
Bounces around just in the sixth clid by Rossalez, headed
back up by Reagan.
Speaker 20 (52:39):
Your Boa goes in towards new who pulls out of
the challenge, finds the foot of Alex Roldano, plays it
back out to the far side the right to Rusnak,
still there from his corner.
Speaker 10 (52:47):
Cack whips towards the back.
Speaker 21 (52:48):
Post head I wanna go headed by Jackson Reagan. Delivery
by Rusnak, and he was Jackson Reagan who guided it
to the far post to put the Sounders up here
in Saint Paul, Minnesota one Sounders two.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
That is a finish from a center back right there.
How many times have we asked Jackson Reagan to put
the ball on the back of the net with his head,
And maybe maybe we just have to start putting Jackson
up top because This is fantastic from him. It's a
quarter kick and the ball gets cycled out. Almost looks
like a counter attack. You Bo's gonna get on the
end of this one. Almost, but knew who intercepts. Ball's
played wide out to Rusnak and he just hangs this
(53:26):
one up on a platter and says, get up there,
and Jackson with the ugh, what a fantastic finish, touches
the side netting. Dane Saint Clair can do nothing but
watch this. He can't even extend his arm because he
knows he's beaten in that situation. That's a fantastic finish
from Jackson Reagan. Sounders up to one, but Jordan there
also on the back post. Just ready if Saint Clair
gets a touch on it to sneak that one into
(53:48):
the back of the net. Well done from the Sounders.
Speaker 10 (53:53):
The sound is.
Speaker 20 (53:53):
It's the twelfth assist for Albert Russneck, second goal in
MLS play for Jackson Reagan.
Speaker 10 (53:59):
He didn't score last year.
Speaker 20 (54:02):
Two goals on his MLS campaign, one goal in League's Cup.
So a really good return from the big center back
on the season so far, and for Jackson Reagan and
for the Sounders and for Brian Schmittze a perfect response.
Speaker 10 (54:19):
It's a Minnesota's goal.
Speaker 20 (54:21):
As you mentioned, the five minutes after you score is
when you can be most vulnortable. For the Sounders, they
took advantage of that, the perfect delivery and the perfect header.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
Yeah, well you said it, and that's what always happens, right.
You have to stay so focused and this Minnesota United
team tonight doesn't have what the top tier MLST teams have.
You can already see it twenty eight minutes into this game.
And so for the Sounders, you got to be smelling
an opportunity here to put this team under pressure. And
sometimes all it is is just a hanging cross up
to the back post that can give you an advantage.
(54:51):
But it begs the question, what would it be like
if the Sounders had a six foot four to six
foot five striker with the service of Rusnak on a
regular basis, maybe even to pair with Jordan War's up
top with the speed, something that Sounders fans must be
asking themselves on the regular Well, yeah, the first five
minutes it's tough, right to stay mentally focused and to
keep the ball out of the back of the net.
You can tell a Minnesota United feeling a little bit
(55:13):
of pressure. At this point, ball shifts.
Speaker 10 (55:15):
It's this side, they're right to Sam Bing Jeong picks
it up. Support boy ds Knew which has bought.
Speaker 20 (55:25):
It between ball and play rolls over the end line
here in the thirtieth minute, it's gonna be a goal
kick for the Sounders. Minnesota United one, Sounders two, and
this score update is presented by Umpquah.
Speaker 10 (55:38):
And Brian Schmittz.
Speaker 20 (55:39):
Mentioned they traveled yesterday. Sometimes they do travel two days ahead.
Try to change things up because Minnesota, like Kansas City,
isn't too far of aflight time difference isn't as severe
as East Coast time frame, and so far the Sounders
have responded well. Look Enerjoy is in a mid afternoon start.
Speaker 10 (56:01):
Paul gets launched long headed forward by Jordan Morris.
Speaker 20 (56:09):
Rothrope being quiet so far, and they's opening thirty minutes.
It's Minnesota to pick up the ball with Loot driving
forward his left foot looking to his left, eventually finds
Rosales plays the ball in good challenge by Alex Roldan
rolls out fars side for throwing four Rosales in Minnesota
five yards from the corner.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Flack I think for Rothrock tonight's game plan is to
go at box Hol, and wherever Boxhole is on the
field in the back three is where the Sounders are
going to attack. Yes, he's on the left side of
that center left side of that back three, and so
the Sounder is obviously overplaying in all those situations. You
can tell Rusnak oftentimes will come out to the left,
come out to the right, mix things up. He's been
on the right hand side of the pitch. I'd love
to see his heat map tonight because he's really just
(56:49):
overloading that side with Christian trying to get any advantage
to pull Boxhol out of position.
Speaker 20 (56:54):
Paul goes short to loot back to Rosales left foot
towards the end line, whips it.
Speaker 10 (56:58):
In, headed up in the air by Yama of goes.
Speaker 20 (57:01):
Rothrock challenges at heads it clear flick towards his nearside
the right to new signing. Diazo brings it down, closed
down by that man Jackson Reagan.
Speaker 10 (57:10):
And score the second goal to put the Sounders up.
Speaker 20 (57:12):
Beckson Reagan. In a challenge, he goes off the heels
of Dotson. It's gonna be a throwing for the Sounders
chance to take a breath and with that Sounders FC.
Soker is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of
Sounders FC.
Speaker 10 (57:31):
And with a six foot five frame in Jackson Reagan.
Speaker 20 (57:33):
We've talked about how it needs to be dominant in
the air. Certainly offensively can he have more goals, which
he has done, but also defensively really kind of using
that body to kind of overpower players.
Speaker 10 (57:44):
These almost believe the power and the strength he's got.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
Well, what's interesting is oftentimes big center backs like playing
against big strikers more than they do the shifty, little
tiny guy that's gonna make those darting runs in behind.
And I remember Chad Marshall used to love that too.
Put him up against Addie, put him up against a
big striker, but as soon as he saw like a
Yurrooti or Valery when he played up top. It causes
problems for the big guys, but fortunate for the Sounder Sara.
(58:12):
It's a handball on the Sounders, but a foul beforehand.
But for a big center back like him, Schmeetz said
today he doesn't actually like playing against big strikers as
you think he would have. But yes, I think to
your point, I'm not sure he's like a great Dane.
He doesn't know how big he actually is and he
needs to utilize that power. But that comes with experience.
At the end of the day, right and they're in
(58:32):
that situation, he rows up and smash that ball to
the far post. But that'll give you confidence moving forward.
When the next fifty to fifty comes along.
Speaker 20 (58:40):
Jp middle of the puck and the offensive half of
the field for the sound is this to roll it back?
Speaker 10 (58:45):
Well sluppy on the ball. He comes Jackson Reagan, good challenge.
What's that man we talked about on your boa. He
comes Lud, rolls it out to this nil side the
right to Pooky. He's able to top of the book,
strikes it just right. Goal kick sounders. They remain two
one up here in Saint Paul.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
Well, but good transitional play by Minnesota. Yeah, I could
move from Minnesota that. You can see the crowd getting
into this one now and it's another errant pass from
j Pets and I just looking slow and sluggish away
from home. He had multiple days off and that's one
that Schmidt's talked about. He wasn't sure if he was
going to maybe start JP tonight, but JP not doing
himself any favors there with a blind pass hoping that
(59:20):
a center back is where he should be. Jackson yes
makes the tackle. Pooky with the shot from distance. Another
player has been on fire coming back from injury back
into this starting lineup. Last thing you want to do
towards the end of this half is give Minnesota any
sort of confidence going into the locker rooms.
Speaker 10 (59:37):
Well, this cover reget.

Speaker 20 (59:48):
Fourth minute the back of a Jordan Morris goal, his
eightieth all competition goal that surpasses that of Montera. They
were tight together at seventy nine.
Speaker 10 (01:00:00):
Now with that.
Speaker 20 (01:00:00):
Gold, Morris enters the eighty goal mark for the Sounders,
and we'll see when he maybe passes that Manrael Rudiez is.
Speaker 10 (01:00:10):
On the bench.
Speaker 20 (01:00:10):
We'll hopefully add more goals to his total this season.
As Roll Dan tries to skip around Rosars, gets there
go the challenge, Rezars comes back, just can't quite get there.
This boxto came in with the challenges able to win
it picked up by Topis and then Rosales good challenge
by roll Dan picked up by Obed Vargas on the
far side the right, supporting his right back, tries to
(01:00:31):
bac heal it around. Topis eventually called by the assistant
a referee on that far side to be a throwing
from Minnesota and they get going here quickly. Is Hey
has just tries to step into the middle of the park.
ACTU with dots and who tried to receive that pass.
Sounders retrieve it. Here they come again. Obed Vargas foot
on the board, just slowing tempo down. It's spend like

Speaker 10 (01:01:16):
Toork trucher wriggle pass DZ.
Speaker 20 (01:01:17):
He isn't able to ds comes across, puts his foot in,
but it goes over.
Speaker 10 (01:01:20):
The end line for a sounder's corner kick.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Bright Evans. I'm not sure it looks like it's ninety
five degrees in Minnesota. Maybe it is warmer than we think,
But Minnesota just establishing their line of pressure at home,
sitting in their own almost fifteen yards above their eighteen,
allowing the Sounders midfield just to pick out whatever pass
they want. Not many times do you see in games
where an attacking team is allowed to just break the
(01:01:43):
lines and for that player to turn and have no pressure.
But the Sounders there with a good string. It passes
ten or eleven on that right hand side. A good
switching ball on the recovery from the Sounders isolating rothrock
corner kick.
Speaker 20 (01:01:54):
On this left town side in swinger towards the near
post isn't able to be collected by roll donomated daunting run.
The front corner of the six goes over the end line.
Goalkick for Minnesota. The Sounders continue to lead here in
warm conditions late afternoon in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Sounds leading
(01:02:16):
to one Minnesota playing out from the back with tapias
and the far side of the left rolls into the
foot of Pookus being quieter than that shot just a
minute or so ago, playing alongside your Boa up front,
good old three five to two Formation four Minnesota, and
you'd mentioned Brett I think in your podcast. When plays
(01:02:38):
a back three, as LAFC have done, sometimes you need
to provide a bit of support for your attacking man.
Speaker 10 (01:02:44):
All goes in behind. We'll get to that in a minute.
Speaker 20 (01:02:45):
With new chasing down, John clears the ball just off
the foot of your bow. The sounder's back line knock
down the line.
Speaker 10 (01:02:53):
Rotot Lord slow to a tree picked up by Dotson, comes.
Speaker 20 (01:02:56):
To his left foot, headed clear by Reagan. Not a
great head on top of the box. Look Franz Pook
and his left foot trace a guy who's the thought
post trickles over the end line.
Speaker 10 (01:03:05):
Easy for Frey.
Speaker 20 (01:03:06):
Let's it go go kick sounds remain two want to
pay at bred Evans.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Anytime that you try to establish yourself as a number
nine against a back three, you need some support from
somewhere around the field. And for me it's always you
have to counter it somehow, And for me it's it's
adding another one into that attack, because if I'm playing
three in the back against one striker, that's easy days
for me. I can't remember a time wherever played three
in the back where I didn't have a game where
I just sat as a sweeper and just cleaned up
(01:03:32):
everything in behind. So for Jordan, I'm sure after that game, yes,
Schmitz City was frustrated and Schmidz said, well, what can
you do? Hit a guy here and there. I think
it goes beyond that. Jordan has to establish what he wants.
He's got to go to Schmtz and say, I need
someone else in the attack with me, especially coming up
on Wednesday night. If LAFC does sit with three in
the back on a tighter field, he's gonna need someone
(01:03:52):
to combine with. It's too difficult to play against three
in the back and not have any support. Just rely
on the speed of Jordan Morris Yemiltres.
Speaker 10 (01:04:02):
To win the ball.
Speaker 20 (01:04:03):
Referee pulls it back for an earlier foul. It's gonna
be a free kick from Minnesota just left of center,
thirty five yards or so from Stephan Fry's goal. Sounds
are going to retreat to the top of their eighteen
yard box. It's looks to be Rissales with his left
foot tenn asists on his year. The left sided players
gonna put the ball on the deck.
Speaker 10 (01:04:22):
Send the big men up boxel to ps DZ.
Speaker 20 (01:04:28):
Big targets for Rosales to pick out as he clipped
it towards the back post up boxall goes over the
top of Reagan Sounds asking for a foul, nothing given
by the referee, rolls into the hands of Stephan Fry.

Speaker 20 (01:05:34):
Referee says no foul dotsor went to the deck blowt
it too early as the ball's flipped down the line

Speaker 20 (01:05:45):
Well waiting for support. In it comes the form of
Alex rolled on. Sounder is able to now put the
foot on the ball and just slow things down. Get
here in the final five minutes of the first half.
It's been a quick, rapid first forty minute here where
teams allowing the game to be wide open. Rosneck with

Rothrock plays it square into JP. We'll see what kind
of changes Brian schmidtz to make throughout the course of

As you mentioned, then Portland Timbers in Portland to wrap

Speaker 10 (01:06:32):
To close it down, does.
Speaker 20 (01:06:33):
A good job, picked up by his brother Christian, who
drives forward, will flick.
Speaker 10 (01:06:38):
Into Jordan morri It's shot player one to two over
the end line.
Speaker 20 (01:06:41):
It goes good defended by taps, but it's gonna be
a fourth corner kick for the Sounders.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
What it looks like to me is that Minnesota's feeling
the effects of the heat, and the Sounders are willing
to run. And whenever you're willing to get in behind
and stretch the defense and puts the other team. They
must make a play right and they're just not able
to do that round right now and connect the pass.
That one's actually a foul on j On dots and
on top of the box. The Sounders get away from one,
but every time now the Sounders is able to pick
apart this Minnesota side. Yes it's hot, but the Sounders
(01:07:08):
don't seem to be feeling the effects of that one.
Speaker 20 (01:07:10):
In the first half, Sounders having a.
Speaker 10 (01:07:15):

Speaker 20 (01:07:16):
It comes to Alex trold on tar Roznick right channel,
far side of Whips City, and good ball just bounces
across the six yard box. It's gonna roll out on
this near side for a throw in ten yards from
the end line and corner flag. It's gonna be thrown
from Minnesota. As the Sounders retreat and take a breath, well,

Stephan Fry walks to retrieve the ball for a goal kick.
Here in the four two third minute, it remains Minnesota
one Sounders two.
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
A good movement here from Minnesota, and Pooky's gonna be
the one that's gonna unlock the defense. Usually it's been
it's been mood this season. You got to call up
to the All Star Game, and he's been the guy
that's unlock. But tonight Pooky finding the majority of chances
in space and when Minnesota does connect from left to right,
they're finding a little bit of space and opportunity slicing
the Seattle defense open.
Speaker 10 (01:09:12):
There.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
It's a left footed shot from distance, always covered out
for a goal. Kick ball goes.
Speaker 20 (01:09:17):
From Fry to Christian Waldon, it flicks it on Well
mentioned in years past, Christian Woldon is as good in
the air as anybody his size in the league, often
a target for Stephan Fry from those goalkicks. Quick throw
by Minnesota farst sight the left to Yo Boa and
goes Reagan covers his central defensive.
Speaker 10 (01:09:36):

all down.

Gonna be a corner kick for Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
I don't think you will see the replay of the
quick throw in. But an experienced player like Jackson Reagan,
now we can call him an experienced player after a
couple of years now on that back line, his ability
to cover there for Jamar save that play for the salvage.
Speaker 20 (01:10:27):
Pickens Rosas outswinger towards Dias, comes off yepot top of
the box, rolls it out to Dotson house the balls
to clip it towards the back stick of Goes. Tepias
bounces through to the fast side to Rosales, rolls it down,
clipped in quickly by Lud collected well.
Speaker 10 (01:10:47):
By Stephan Frye.
Speaker 20 (01:10:50):
He starts to burn off a few more seconds. Five
minutes of added time given by the referee.
Speaker 10 (01:10:58):
I don't know we going to stoppage four.
Speaker 20 (01:11:01):
The PK call on VR, but won't recall anytime. The
medical staff came on the field five minutes seems a
little bit excessive. Sounds that those five minutes to see out.
Get in the locker room, take a breath. All goes along,
picked up easily by and it's rolled on as from
lum first touch. Managed to clean it up. Finds JP
(01:11:23):
rolls at square to New tucked in off that left
hand side, saying knights and compact with his two center backs.
Jackson Reagan clips it from center far side the right
to Alex, rolled on to his brother Christians able to
turn out of pressure, roll into JP. Good possession by
the Sounder is just dictating tempo right now as they
lead here, quick turn by New.
Speaker 10 (01:11:44):
Past Jean.
Speaker 20 (01:11:50):
Looks it around to Jordan Morris, run into Jordan Morris,
goes around Diaz, who tries to get physical.
Speaker 10 (01:11:56):
Isn't he able to keep up with Jordan Morris?
Speaker 20 (01:11:57):
Quick little turn by Jordan Marrice strike well block by
box so my Prooky now turns out of pressure, moves
forward not long, easily off the chests of Yama. When
you make the Sounders first half performance, Brad, especially that
back line. They've had a couple of times of transition,
(01:12:18):
but managed to clean.
Speaker 10 (01:12:19):
Things up pretty well.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Yeah, I think the only thing that stressed the backline
for the Sounders have actually been those long throw ins.
And I questioned Minnesota, why you know you're at home.
You want to dictate pace of the game. Get the
ball thrown in quick a lah lasc right. Everything is fast,
fast and fast, and they put you on a pressure
but clearly something that Minnesota has designated in their squad,
much like Kansas City. Did you know a few years
(01:12:40):
back with Beesel and they'd send him all the way
up the field every single time the ball went out
of bounds, And as a center back, you're thinking, here
we go again, another set piece. I gotta be on
my game. So yeah, some teams use it, some teams don't.
But overall, I think the Sounders tactically and positionally on
the field have been in all the right spaces. Every
time the game possession, everyone seems to have at least
two options when the ball is at that player's feet.
(01:13:02):
And what I like about this game is the willingness
and commitment from players to get forward. They know, especially
the Christian rolled on when the ball gets played back
to an old bed vargas a JP or an Alex
Roldan that put your head down and get him behind
and good things are going to happen.
Speaker 20 (01:13:16):
Ball goes down the line, over the unline, he goes
good play by new just saw it over the endline.
Gave Dots a little nudge. It's gonna be a goalkick
for Saunders. Here two and a half minutes to go
of five added minutes at the end of this first half. Well,
Discount Tire I get thirty percent short to average weight

performance has been quiet compared to on the other side
of the.
Speaker 10 (01:13:53):
Field and Alex rolled on forty six touches.
Speaker 20 (01:13:56):
So the ball has certainly been heavily involved on that
right hand side.
Speaker 10 (01:14:01):
As here's that man Rothrock is able to win the ball.
Speaker 20 (01:14:04):
Two goals against Minnesota this season already is Paul Rothrock.
Three goals against Minnesota for Jordan Morris, including one tonight,
so Sounders have scored two goals against Minnesota in each
of the three games this season. As he mentioned strong
record against Minnesota over the years, winning one loss in
(01:14:26):
MLS play against Minnesota eleven wins regular season thirteen wins overall,
one of those being in League's Cup just a couple
of weeks ago. One of them, of course, being in.
Speaker 10 (01:14:38):
MLS playoffs when they were two nil down. I managed
to win three to two.
Speaker 20 (01:14:42):
Or goes in behind the miscommunication as you'd expect between
Pookie and Yuboa, or goes into Stephy.
Speaker 10 (01:14:48):
And Fry remains two one sounders.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
That's the story of Minnesota's first half, just not on
the same page. And you're asking a lot of two
new players to come into this lineup and instantly gel
with those around them. Sometimes there's unspoken play within the
game that you just have to be aware of. And
I actually think you Boa makes the right play there
and slipping that ball on behind, But Hooky clearly wants
that one to his feet, and I don't really think
you Boa looks up to see him. I think he
(01:15:10):
assumes that Pooky's gonna go in behind. So those things
will have to get ironed out, and I'm sure that
Ramsey will have a talk with the squad at halftime
about how to stay a bit more connected, and the
best way to do that is I gotta make eye
contact with you throughout the game and then you know
that the ball is coming into you. If I tell
you to go, I'm gonna point right. Little tiny things
that get developed and then and then you don't have
(01:15:33):
to You can do the off the lookoff pass. You
can do you know, the slipped ball in behind without
having the points that you throw off the defender. But
this Minnesota United team just not enough today in this
first half.
Speaker 20 (01:15:44):
Yeah, maybe's Pooki five years ago. It's Norwich who was
expect to make that run. Pooky of today maybe likes
to sit a little deeper. It see be dangerous in
and around the top of the eighteen yo books. Already
as John runs down towards the end line, clips over
the cross where it goes challenge bray Knew who doesn't
take a connection and there's a referees.
Speaker 10 (01:16:03):
We're start to bring this first half to a close,
and a good first.
Speaker 20 (01:16:06):
Half for your Sounders. They went up in the eleventh
minute offer Jordan Morris goal turn over in the middle
of the park, quick transition for the Sounders and a
really composed finish by Jordan Morris for his eightieth all
competition goal and the first player in Sounder's history to
score ten goals.
Speaker 10 (01:16:25):
Or more in five seasons. And then through a.
Speaker 20 (01:16:28):
VR check it was Yoboa on his debut from Minnesota
who got Minnesota tied up.
Speaker 10 (01:16:34):
And then it was.
Speaker 20 (01:16:35):
Jackson Reagan delivery from Rosneck from the right and a
guided header to the far post to put the Sounders
up two goals to one.
Speaker 10 (01:16:42):
Brad your final.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
Thoughts, Yeah, a good half from the Sounders, and at
this point it's what can the Sounders do in the
second half. So Schmetzer will be tactically figuring out with
the squad what they need to do. Get in at halftime, regroup,
come out, stay strong, defensively and get the results away
from home.
Speaker 10 (01:16:58):
Well, don't leave us at halftime.

All right, two goals. You know there's the penalty from
(01:20:17):
Minnesota that you know you saw me here in the room.
I was very frustrated by didn't understand that one. But
let's focus on the good. Those two goals Jordan Morris
from Christian and obed and then Reagan's header looking very
good on the offensive ends so far.
Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Those were fantastic goals. So let's go in anywhere in
the world. I say that every once in a while.
But Christian rolled On knew exactly what he was doing
with the header that he laid off for obd Obd
waited the pass perfectly into the space that Jordan Morris
was running into. Jordan had a great first touch, forced
Saint Clair to come off his line and then just
clipped it by him. You know, talk about a guy
(01:20:54):
in the zone right there, because he's going as fast
as he is and completely composed. And then Albert Rusnik
just hangs one up at the back post and Jackson
Reagan six ' five just gets up and he knows
that if he gets his head to it and sends
it to the back post again, Saint Clair no chance too.
Great goals from Seattle. Two great assists from Seattle, double

assists on the first one, So those are fantastic. And
you're right. The penalty kick, gosh, you know, I don't know. Yeah,

But as Brad said, if it went our way, I'd say, oh, yeah,
that's a bet least.
Speaker 18 (01:21:44):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:21:46):

Pee fewing with a lead right now you still have
firepower off the bench in case you needed. Things are
looking good for the Sounders, but what are your keys
to the second half?
Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
Well, I think they got to tighten up a little
bit because Minnesota has had a couple of chances. Pooky
is dangerous getting in in behind. Ramsey, the coach from
Minnesota is going to try to help, you know, connect
the dots for the players. You've got two new guys
ideas on the field and youbon that have not played
together right, and so with any of the players that
(01:25:59):
they're making their debuts. So if he can fix a
couple of things, that is going to be the Seattle's detriment.
So the Seattle's got to make sure they don't give
anything away. And you know, really where they've been dangerous.
Brad talked about it is the throw ins the restarts.
So a good stat Ryan just gave me is that
Seattle's unbeaten in their last twenty when they're leading at
the half. Oh having said that, there's a couple of
(01:26:19):
stats right now that with the thirteen one and two
against Minnesota and unbeaten their last twenty, these streaks run
out after a while. So I get a little superstitious
that O'Brien does as well, So they've just got to
be very tight. Another goal would really help bury this team.
You said it, Minnesota's disjointed. Another goal would put them away.
Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
Well, we'll see where that comes. In the second half.
Danny Jackson and Brad Evans will have the call. One
note that's that Sounders e FC Soccer is presented by

Speaker 20 (01:29:30):
Welcome back Sounders fans to Alliance Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota,
where the Sounders are leading two goals to warn here
after goals by Jordan Morris and Jackson Reagan in the
first half.
Speaker 10 (01:29:42):
But the Sounders up, so players get ready to kick
off this second half.
Speaker 20 (01:29:47):
We don't expect too many changes coming out a half time.
Bran Schmidt so often likes to make his changes. Hello
the sixtieth minute, Bob. But we'll see with us open
Cup semi funnel coming up on Wednesday. Heavy load this
next week for the sound Is three really big games
won today. With nine to go games left in MLS play,
(01:30:10):
sound Is currently sitting in seventh position, but they can
jump a couple of spots with a win today, it'll
be a big three points. It will separate Minnesota and
sound Is by seven points. Four points currently separates the
two teams before coming into today's game. But bred as
the teams get set for this second half, we'll get
the lineups in just a moment. But what are your
(01:30:31):
thoughts for the second half coming out here? What's Brian
schmittz ha said to his men?
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
Yeah, I think I think at halftime he's just gonna say,
be more composed on the ball. And what I mean
by that is when you have the opportunities to keep
it in the opponent's defensive third, use it. Make Minnesota work. Yes,
it's eighty five degrees, it's warm, but Minnesota seems disinterested
in applying a good hard amount of pressure on the ball.
So as you keep that ball in the defensive third,
(01:30:57):
we know as being in practice, Schmitz Ziggy whoever it was,
would oftentimes overload the attack against the defenders and make
us just defend and go side to side for fifteen
to twenty minutes and how exhausting that is. There's no
reason in today's game that the Sounders can't do that.
And I was surprised that the fifty to fifty possession
stat at the at the halftime whistle. And so for
(01:31:17):
the Sounders that means Schmitz will be saying we need
more possession. Right his key has been sixty percent, So
if they can even increase that just a little bit,
they're going to be able to turn and mix around
that Minnesota defense. But I think the game plan right
now is they have Minnesota has a left wing back
in Resolves that has ten assists on the year, right,
(01:31:37):
but Christian Rolldon. The best way to nullify a player
like that is to be high up the field and
put Minnesota under pressure. So you're not seeing the best
out of Resales because you're seeing the commitment from the
Sounders on the opposite side to make Minnesota have to defend.
Speaker 20 (01:31:51):
Christian well done thirty one touches on his first half.
Speaker 10 (01:31:55):
There's saw a lot.
Speaker 20 (01:31:55):
Of dynamic play, including Alex Troldon who got four six
touches in that first half. As the Sounders get us
going for this second half leading two goals to one.
Here in Saint Paul, they're attacking the goal to our
right in the anniversary Kid of Green Shirts, blue shorts,
White Sox quickball into Jordan Morris, took it down well
and then taking off his toe by boxel back in
(01:32:18):
the lineup.
Speaker 10 (01:32:18):
Today, ball goes.
Speaker 20 (01:32:20):
Down the line to the foot of your boat. That'll
flick around the corner. Well, he's able to separate from Yamar.
Speaker 10 (01:32:25):
Well.
Speaker 20 (01:32:26):
It was the two players that came together for that
VR decision where Yamar connected with the back of the
leg for your Boa who pulled himself off the deck
and then scored the ensuing penalty for his first goal
in MLS played. That's gonna be an early fell and
free kick for the Sounders and that let's get you
those lineups. No changes for either team coming out at halftime.
(01:32:48):
Stefan Frying goal rolled on Yemar Reagan Nu then Oben
Vargus with JP in the middle of the park, Christian
Rold on the right, Rosnak Rothrock and then Jordan Morris.
Ball finds several all the way to the fast side
the left of Rothrock, who was well quite in that
first half. Two goals against Minnesota already this season fort
Paull Rothrock, his cross deflexof jong for an early sound
(01:33:11):
is ConA.
Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
Kick, but oftentimes Young has been the player that's gotten
forward from Minnesota on the opposite side, but not today Rothrock.
I think the game plan is from both sides, the
four two three one four two three, whatever you want
to call the Sounders formation. If those guys stay high,
it forces Minnesota's wing backs to sit back and have
to defend, and they've really nullified anything from the wings,
which makes you wonder why not against LAFC just a
(01:33:33):
couple of weeks ago, and with the opportunity to advance
into a final of League's Cup. I think the Sounders
maybe learned their lesson just a little bit. Yes, a
different side in Minnesota, but Rothrock not utilized today as much.
But I think positionally has shown that it's caused problems
for Minnesota or at least make them think twice about
marauding up that side, because like you said, he's got
two goals already against Minnesota this year, so someone they
(01:33:56):
have to be.
Speaker 20 (01:33:56):
Aware of high pressed by Minnesota, the clear lines from
the corner kick, and now they have possession of test
Sounders attacking. They're attacking third of the field picked up
by dots and Federal Way Native rolls it out to
this near side to Rosales.
Speaker 10 (01:34:10):
You mentioned ten assists on his year so far. The
danger in delivery on the left.
Speaker 20 (01:34:14):
Side finds Dotson in the left channel, plows down by
rolled on clips it in towards the backs take headed
clear by your bar picked up by Shong and.
Speaker 10 (01:34:23):
High and wide.
Speaker 20 (01:34:24):
Go kick Sounders here in the forty eighth minute, Minnesota one,
Sounders two, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
Better from Minnesota. There you finally saw some interchange of
multiple midfielders from Minnesota and Rosales actually coming inside opens
up that left channel for Dotson to get in behind.
And that's why you sit with the four to two
three one for the Sounders is to allow one of
your midfielders to get forward. And then three five two
you still have an overloader, whatever you want to call it.
Five through two, three five two you have an overload
(01:34:52):
in the midfield, but it doesn't matter without the commitment
and movement to unlocked spaces.
Speaker 20 (01:34:59):
Minnesoti night and no changes coming out in their second half.
The instintclaring goal a back three of taps boxel and
then Debutan ds Jean Lud trapped Dots and Rosales an
attack in two of Pookie and then goalscorer year Bo
on his debut from Minnesota in MLSS. Lud, with seventeen
(01:35:20):
goal contributions on his year, tries to squeeze it into
your bau, rolls through to Stepan Fry, who's going to
collect it up.
Speaker 10 (01:35:29):
Deck tearing all yellow tonight Minnesota.
Speaker 20 (01:35:33):
In the dark Navy and black kit attacking.
Speaker 10 (01:35:36):
The goal to our left, so they clipped it towards Jordan.
Speaker 20 (01:35:40):
Morris, who was certainly more involved in the first twenty
twenty five minutes of the game than he was against LFC,
of course, and it's just spring clear on that giveaway
in the middle of the park where the sound was
able to retrieve possession, play it through to Morris, who
was able to find that space, clip it in to
the back of the net for his eightieth or competition
and goals.
Speaker 10 (01:36:00):
The bor goes this near sight to Rosales. Overlapping run
by Lud.
Speaker 20 (01:36:04):
Rozaras goes passing towards his weaker right foot off Jackson.
Reagan's head just came out of concussion protocol back up
on his fee years dombly new on your boa, collected
boy JP asking for a found nothing given, closed down
quickly by the Sounders and to Rosa's left foot blocked
by Alex Roll Dawn to Pierce cleans it up. Will
(01:36:26):
Trap quiet in the first half as well. Out to
Jeong square inside to Dotson. Crowd on their feet liking
what their team are doing in this early stage is
to Jong to the side netting it goes should trying
to cut it back your bo's asking that question. Jong
took the chance to take a shot from a really
tight angle. It's wide of the posts, goal kick Sounders.
(01:36:48):
They remained too one up here in Saint.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Paul Well Sounders putting that pressure on themselves, a JP
taking too many touches, expecting a foul to be called
there and then a sustained pressure from Minnesota. But that
probably happens because will Trap five only left the middle
of the field and made an overlapping run around the
outside That opened up a little bit of room and
a little slip ball for Joung. And yes, if you
smash that ball low and hard across the goal, Stephen
(01:37:11):
Fry is gonna be hard done to try and hold
on to that one and your bowl will be upset about.
But that's the one that goes in the memory bank
for Jong and next time the balls hit low, driven
hard across the box. But the Sounders need to get
that possession back in order right now. You saw them
come out in the first half and they were high
pressing almost every time Minnesota played the ball backwards. Those
are opportunities to take that real estate that we talked about.
(01:37:33):
You can't just sit here and defend for the next
forty minutes of this game. It's gonna be a tough one,
especially with the heat.
Speaker 20 (01:37:39):
And Bran Schmans is certainly like's possession orientated football, whether
it's home or away. As Brad mentioned, fifty to fifty
on possession. Coming into the second half, long throw by
Rosales towards the corner of the six bounces in and
around your bowl twice to a site swipe volley over
the top eight goes goal Cake soundest. But again, the
threat for minutes is coming from these long throws.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
Bright Evans, Yeah, these long throws have been hard to
handle for the Sounders and it's it is difficult. It's
a lofto ball. The last thing you want to do
is gets is get turned around or put in an
awkward position. The Sounders do okay in that one, but
it's about the second balls. If you're not gonna win
the first one, you must be looking over your shoulder
because that's an opportunity as an attacker to just sneak
in behind. As soon as you focus too much on
(01:38:22):
the ball, it opens up space anywhere in that box.
And we've seen that ball bounce around in the box.
Sounders have been a bit under pressure.
Speaker 20 (01:38:29):
All goes over the top to Christian, rolled on collected
by Saint Claus. So the danger came out, picked it up,
rolls it out quickly to box. So as you mentioned, Sounders,
I've only lost once to Minnesota in all competitions, regular season.
Speaker 10 (01:38:46):
Play, MLS playoffs.
Speaker 20 (01:38:48):
Where it looked inevitable Minnesota, we're gonna win that game.
There were tune up going into the funnel minutes of
the game, and then three unanswered goals by the Sounders
in front of one man in his memory serves COVID
times nobody.
Speaker 10 (01:39:03):
In the stadium.
Speaker 20 (01:39:04):
Spenson eventually put the ball in the back and there
for that third goal crush the Sounders into the MLS
Cup Final. But here comes Dots and driving forward top
of the box. That comes Vargas to defense to your
bow inside the box, rolls its square straight by Will
Trap I should expect from a defensive central midfield player.
Speaker 10 (01:39:23):
Slices it wide. Goalkick Sounders. It's two one up.
Speaker 2 (01:39:28):
Yeah, good break from Minnesota again. Now you're starting to
see Minnesota pick up a little bit of rhythm. Ramsey's
up off the bench saying encouraging his players to keep
going Dots and now finding some space and opportunity in
front of him to use that pace and power. And
Will Trap on the top of the box there where
he should be, and that one's got to hit a
little hard just across the face of goals.
Speaker 20 (01:39:47):
Jordan Morrison behind again picks it up inside the box,
rolls it to rock through our good block. Eventually by
think it was Young came across. It's gonna be a
corner kick for the Sounders. There's sixth corner kick of
the game. Will Lady the second of the second half.
But good break again by the sound is bowling behind.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
Yeah, we're talking about Minnesota, and all of a sudden
we see this replay and Jordan's found himself in the box.
Within two or three passes, a great ball laid back
Rothrock in the right spot, going for that near post.
And like you said, Joan, with the last dish effort
there that's a great tackle the Sounders with another corner kick.
But the service hasn't been there tonight for the Sounders.
Looks like they're looking for that near post.
Speaker 20 (01:40:23):
Just want it goes short oil short eron passed by
russnet Court all plays off god one of them being
Alex troll don It retrieves it eventually it was in
square and saw it to Vogus who's challenged by Pooky.
All clip down the line Batlet Troll done, cleaned up
by teppis a good step by Vargas, comes off Vargas's ankle.
Speaker 10 (01:40:44):
Clears by Tippias. Is gonna be a thrown from Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
And no one was ready there for the Sounders, like
you said, everyone anticipating that ball to be swung in
the box. And Rusnak at the last second plays that one.
Aaron pass lay back and instead of an opportunity and
putting Daint Saint Clair under some pressure with good service.
Now the Sounders find themself giving away a throw in,
and Minnesota allowed to retain possession and continue to apply pressure.
Speaker 20 (01:41:07):
That comes Yevo in the middle of the park, his
dots and rolls it out to this near so they
left to Pooky. I'll try and get half an yacht
of space, weak shot, deflection corner kick four Minnesota.
Speaker 10 (01:41:18):
Pooky again, try to find that far corner, try to
guide the ball into the back of the net, takes
a deflection. It's gonna be a second corner kick in
the game from Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
Yeah, you see who knew who they're on that replay,
just lifting his hands up, trying to encourage the Sounders
players to wake up just a little bit. They come
out a little bit sleepy, thinking that they were just
gonna run through. Anytime you've ever been in a game
like this where it seems like you're cruising in the
first half, the other team obviously has played poor and
that's the first half was not up to Minnesota standards
or Ramsey standards for his squad, and he definitely had
(01:41:49):
some words at halftime. It looks like an awake inside.
Speaker 20 (01:41:52):
Grizalez En swinging with his left foot headed Cleary knew good, strong, powerful,
defensive head of finds Jong clipped him by dots and
towards the back post.
Speaker 10 (01:42:00):
Chushion headed down, but I think it was trap or
bounces around. Eventually the referee looks at the assistant referee
in the far side.
Speaker 20 (01:42:07):
His flag went up. It's gonna be off side call
for the Sounders. Free kick for the men in green
as they continue to lead. Here in the fifty sixth minute,
two goals to one against Minnesota United, who quickly goes
into Rothrocks skips through Richards Sinclair and I'd love to
see the stat Sounders going up aren't beating the last
(01:42:29):
twenty games went up at halftime, certainly as stat the
Sounders feel good about coming to the second half. But
I'd love to see the stat on how many times
two players have scored in three back to back games
against the same opponent. Lawrence has scored in the last
three games this year, scored three goals, scored two. Chipowl
goes in behind, comes in, flips over the top back
(01:42:50):
of there. It goes out of nothing, you part find
some space in behind the back four and it was
a cool finish click teat over the top of fry
back of that.
Speaker 7 (01:43:03):
It goes.
Speaker 10 (01:43:04):
It's a dream start for the new signing you Boa
two Jo.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
It's sleepy defending from the Sounders as they fell asleep.
They try to play a quick on one end behind
a Paul rothrock keeper ends up with the ball and
within two or three passes, Yo Bola finds himself in behind.
Yamar's caught on the wrong side of your Bola. There
there's so much room in behind. It's a slipball from
Donson finds its way to Geong, I think, and it's
just a little slip pass in behind it. Yamar. Yes
(01:43:31):
he's athletic, Yes he's strong, but on any day an
attacker can use your own weight against you and turn
you around. And I'm not sure why this. As a
center back, you just don't overplay that and keep all
the attackers in front of you because you know that
that space is free and behind your bowl with an
absolute class finish on that one with the left foot.
He took the PK with the right foot, and that
finished with the left dinked up and over and Minnesota
(01:43:54):
find himself back in this game. The crowd is awake,
and we talked about the Sounders sleepy coming out in
this first eleven minutes and they'll have to find some
rhythm and a way back into this one. And I
think it's gonna have to be with sharing the ball
a little bit more. It's been so right side dominant. Yes,
it worked, but at some point you're gonna have to
get the opposite side involved. As Minnesota just creeps in
(01:44:15):
behind once again with Rosales coming up and left flank.
Speaker 20 (01:44:18):
It comes tries to find you both looking for his
hat trick now, of course on his debut four Minnesota
recent signing from Genoa, nudging it back on knew who knew?
Speaker 10 (01:44:30):
Who goes down easily use.
Speaker 20 (01:44:32):
ALA's experience, just waits for the contact, goes down free
kick for the Sounders. And as the Sounders get set
for that free kick, let's get you the bench for
the Sounders because Brian Schmitzer the Shaws start looking.
Speaker 10 (01:44:43):
Down his bench.
Speaker 20 (01:44:43):
Leo chu Atensio, Jonathan Bell, Andrew Thomas of coursing the goal,
Lava Mussovski, Ruy Diaz, Reedbaker Whiting, and then Pedro de
la Vega.
Speaker 10 (01:44:55):
And as we call up, I lift my eyes and
there's jp substitution been made.
Speaker 20 (01:45:00):
Josh A Tensio on the field to play along sid
Obert Voggs. We talked about JP looking little maybe heavy legged.
Speaker 10 (01:45:08):
Potentially just in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
Yeah, he looks a little bit sluggish today away from home,
and you think, you know, you go and play on
turf in hot weather and you're gonna feel sluggish when
you come to a great stadium with great grass and
for some reason just not not able to find his
legs in this one and be the typical jab polo
that we've seen in the past. And you know, a
good decision by by Schmtz. Wants to field a strong
(01:45:31):
lineup next Wednesday and with jap were the first half
like that. He knows now Minnesota starts to that second half,
he's gonna need some some legs to cover ground and
Utensio can be that guy.
Speaker 20 (01:45:46):
Shit Polls in play is a little substitution and board
goes up. Sino Puki comes off the field four goals
in his campaign, just coming back from.
Speaker 10 (01:45:58):
Some injuries this year.
Speaker 2 (01:46:01):
It's a very.
Speaker 10 (01:46:02):
Successful career in England before coming over here and then
long Juarne.
Speaker 20 (01:46:09):
Scored a goal against San Jose in their last regular
season game. He's going to come on the field seven
goals on his campaign. So you've got your Bo with
two goals on his debut on the field, and you've
got long Warning now coming off the bench, and we'll
see if there'll be a slight tweak to the formation.
Long Warning typically likes to play a little bit deeper
(01:46:31):
than Pooki's. The ball goes over the top, good defending
by Boxels able to find his bearings, heads.
Speaker 10 (01:46:36):
The ball clear. We'll loose on the pass by Daz
picked up by.
Speaker 20 (01:46:40):
Substitute Josh Atensia. But let me ask you, obviously Brian
has got options off the bench. She could have potentially
brought on a more attacking player dropped in Albert Rosneck.
But I think he maybe sees some vulnerabilities in the
middle of the park. With Minnesota now tail up getting
back into this game, they need some solid play by
a player like Well.
Speaker 2 (01:46:58):
All of a sudden, Minnesota's center of the park decided
that they wanted to move and shift and shake. It
was easy in the first half for every midfielder for
the Sounders to be able to cover that ground because
Minnesota was pretty stagnant. Right We talked about it when
we went to the restroom. Was will Trap seemed non
existent in that first half, not leaving the center of
the pitch. But then all of a sudden, you come
out in the second half and they're moving, getting out wide,
(01:47:19):
making runs as you see here, and that can cause
problems for the Sounder. So you need something to cover
that middle of the park.
Speaker 20 (01:47:25):
There's Lood just drop of the shoulder, drives forwards inside
the bot or defended by Knew.
Speaker 10 (01:47:29):
Who where was that.
Speaker 20 (01:47:30):
Man Will Trapp who supported Jong down the right inside
then closed the ball down. Look from Minnesota again, sound
is now looking a little heavy leg. We thought they
looked fresh in that first half, but now just backs
against the wall defending in their half, defensive half of
the field of Minnesota have some time and space on
the far side of the right. Look to Jong goes
(01:47:51):
down by Knew, comes off New over the end line.
Will be a third corner kick four Minnesota. As Knew,
who just goes down?
Speaker 10 (01:48:01):
We got hit?
Speaker 20 (01:48:02):
Why doesn't want to get hit? It takes a second
to take a breath.
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
Well, I think as Minnesota starts to push forward, the
Sounders are gonna have to. Like we said in the
first half, they're pinning back Minnesota's wing backs, and so
far in this second half, the inability to get in behind,
and when we do hit the ball in behind, it's
it's not hit, it's not overhit. It doesn't give the
sound or any Sounder attacker an opportunity to get forward.
I think that offensive sub is coming in the next
(01:48:27):
next five to ten minutes.
Speaker 20 (01:48:28):
Corner kick boy minnesota'a whipped in right on top of
a step fro and Fright does well, punches up in
the air, Jackson, Reagan misses the header, Diaz doesn't almost
finds Lud who's swung of the ball cleared by atensire,
picked up by Will Trapp fast side the right again
as rosales to Lud pros to roll it down at
ten to he clears the ball, could have maybe let
(01:48:49):
it go over the end line. It clears his lines
as Young heads it back to Saint Clair.
Speaker 10 (01:48:54):
Then she just about gets there as rothwalks sprints all
the way through trying to close the ball down.
Speaker 20 (01:49:00):
Quick distribution by Sinclair in the Minnesota goal and here
come Minnesota. You know it you again in transition to
long one, He's substitute seven goals on the air for
that man pulled by Jackson, reg and good closing down
Jackson Reagan wins it helped by Knew and intensia pulled back.
Speaker 10 (01:49:19):
By Rosalees soon.
Speaker 20 (01:49:21):
Now I was gonna get back in position after taking
that corner kick in the sixty third minute Minnesota two,
Sounders two.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
It's a great piece of defending from Jackson Reagan there
just pulled out a position that's the last place you
want to be as a center back. It's pulled wide
against a fast player. Does such a great job of
grabbing the jersey initially and then letting go right. You
establish that dominance and then you don't let him turn
down the line. You get a little poking and the
Sounders fortunate to get out of that situation. Now it's
about maintaining possession and finding these spots on the field.
(01:49:49):
Bruce Knack finally getting on the ball in the middle
of the pitch, but he's got to be more mobile.
You saw Minnesota come out and the midfielders be more mobile.
Sounders midfield has to move now. Minnesota's de especially in
their own defensive third.
Speaker 20 (01:50:02):
It comes rothrow a little quiet in that first half,
clips it in, ball comes to Christian walland good first
such good strike blocked picked up by long Arne wal.
Speaker 10 (01:50:12):
Don came back to try to win the ball off
Lert foul and the sound is number seven.
Speaker 20 (01:50:16):
It's gonna be a free kick for Minnesota, but could
play by Christian roll done.
Speaker 10 (01:50:21):
Good technique brings it down, good strike. As we looked down.
Speaker 20 (01:50:25):
Here at Dela Vega getting ready to come on, he
was an inevitable substitution.
Speaker 10 (01:50:30):
Brad rothrow a little quiet today's game. I talked to
him in the week.
Speaker 20 (01:50:35):
He was excited about the season he's had so far,
but knows that he wanted to kick on play a
little bit better.
Speaker 10 (01:50:41):
Maybe in some of these big games.
Speaker 20 (01:50:44):
And now Dela Vega comes on the field and see
what he can do well.
Speaker 2 (01:50:47):
He should be excited about the way he's played this year.
You're always gonna have ups and downs. You get the
off player like Christian Benteke is seventeen goals, right, You're
gonna have a killer year. But for a guy to
come up off the bench and be an impact player
for a good Sounder squad has said a lot about
Paul Rothrock. Now it's about consistency and how you can rebound.
Speaker 10 (01:51:08):
There's a lot of.
Speaker 20 (01:51:09):
Stepover blood buy out rolled on good defending by the Sounders,
Roy Becasus Christian and she made the block. But ye
Boa looks like a lively character, certainly, two goals in
his game so far, his first start from Minnesota and MLS.
Speaker 10 (01:51:27):
Looking for his hat trick.
Speaker 20 (01:51:29):
Teps picks it up left side, plays it back out
to Rossale.
Speaker 10 (01:51:32):
There's no pressure on the balls, able to whip a ball.
Speaker 20 (01:51:35):
In comes off the head of Christian Rolldon rolls over
the end line for another Minnesota corner kick.
Speaker 2 (01:51:41):
Well, the question now is going to be how Pedro
de la Vega fits into this game. He's got ample
time right twenty five minutes to really find himself in
this one. It's not a situation in the past where
yes he started a couple of games and had to
come off, but you never really want to come into
a game with ten minutes left because that's not the
real tempo and pace of a game. He'll have an
opportun t unity here with Tie to make his impact
(01:52:02):
on that left hand side, and how he combines with
Jordan starts to build that relationship.
Speaker 20 (01:52:07):
Rozalez left side outs on his left foot, whip ten
towards the back stick headed clear by.
Speaker 10 (01:52:12):
Alex roll Don.
Speaker 20 (01:52:13):
It's gonna roll over the far side for a throw
in four Minnesota. It's gonna be a substitution for Minnesota.
Speaker 10 (01:52:24):
Will Trapp a little more lively in the second half,
is gonna come off the field to be.
Speaker 20 (01:52:31):
Carlos Harvey number sixty seven, who's gonna come.
Speaker 10 (01:52:34):
On and we'll see if that's gonna be a lightful
like switch past on the way minnesotaill come out the
second half. Most likely is.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
What I think Ramsey at halftime probably asks the team
like do you want to play or do you not
want to play? And that's the bump that you saw.
If you don't want to play, I'll just take you
off the field. And he's not afraid to make those changes.
You don't often see your number six get subbed in
the sixty fifth minute. A lot of tired legs out
there from Minnesota coming off of a long, a long layaway.
(01:53:06):
What a much better Minnesota side coming out in the
second half. The Sounders looking to match it as Pedro
gets his first couple touches on the ball, but.
Speaker 20 (01:53:13):
Jadella Vega looking shop already built out of some pressure in.
Speaker 10 (01:53:17):
The defensive third of the field.
Speaker 20 (01:53:19):
And now switch to the point of attext this NI
sight they're right with Alex Roldan striding forward, ball goes
into question roll done stride for stride r resolvez. He's
closing it down, isn't able to retain possession. The pressure
by the Minnesota left outside player forces the bullock rolled
on throwing.
Speaker 10 (01:53:37):
Four Minnesota and this NI side the left.
Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
Well, you hope with Pedro's introduction to this game it
allows the Sounders to not be so one sided in
this one. He's a player that's gonna demand the ball
and if not, he's gonna go find the ball as
best he can. Roth Rock is a bit more. He's
gonna play a bit more positionally when Schmeetz asks him too,
and that'll be important for Pedrol de Lvega to come
(01:54:01):
inside and come find the ball and start to create
for the Sounders in the attacking third it comes.
Speaker 20 (01:54:05):
Minnesota in transition had lots of the Baalderness attacking.
Speaker 10 (01:54:09):
Half of the field with the Rossales on this near side.
Speaker 20 (01:54:12):
Tucked him from that left hand side, finds Harvey substitution.
Speaker 10 (01:54:16):
Substitute playing in the middle of the park.
Speaker 20 (01:54:17):
Lightful like switch for world trap emlist veteran off the
field now with Dotson and Boxel.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
It's lung wanna.
Speaker 10 (01:54:31):
To Harvey.
Speaker 20 (01:54:32):
Minnesota able to build some possession, sound as chasing shadows
right now, Delvega little munching the back's getting an easy
free kick for the referee standing ten yards away, just
right of center, twenty five yards from goal.
Speaker 10 (01:54:46):
Chance now for Minnesota to test Stefan frying the.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Sound as God, that's the one As a defender, you
have to get goalside if you're gonna if you're gonna
tuck in pedroal de l Vega's late there to tuck inside.
Monguane does the right thing. Turns into pressure. You always
feel any type of pressure and you have control the ball,
possibly take a touch forward, you just go down. It's
going to be a free kick every time. But Minnesota
with some sustained pressure now causing problems for the Sounders.
Speaker 20 (01:55:11):
There's Joseph Rossal's left foot ten asists on his year,
hasn't scored yet.
Speaker 10 (01:55:16):
This would not be the time to get off the mark.
Speaker 20 (01:55:20):
Twenty five yards or so, a little bit further from
Seth and Fry's gold is right of center with his
left foot, comes up, strikes it right into the wall,
bounces off New who finds box that flips it outside.
Speaker 10 (01:55:32):
Good challenge by.
Speaker 20 (01:55:32):
New who goes over the end line from that block,
going to be a corner kick again for Minnesota.
Speaker 10 (01:55:39):
Good sustained pressure in this.
Speaker 20 (01:55:41):
First twenty minutes or so of the second half for Minnesota.
Then Tonight's match is presented by on Quart Bank, the
official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FC. On Quart Bank
Together for the better. Now the Sounders have to be
together here defending this corner kick. The Resours can put
(01:56:01):
in really good delivery. Go short this time to Lud
lays it off to ras Ours better angle now eighteen
yards from the end line.
Speaker 10 (01:56:08):
Whips it in towards the fast.
Speaker 20 (01:56:09):
Stick collected by Fry just bobbles it once collects it
on the second chance.
Speaker 10 (01:56:15):
I'd like to make mention and congratulations.
Speaker 20 (01:56:17):
To Stephan Fry his four hundredth MLS start tonight, the
sixth player and MLS history with four hundred regular season starts,
so continues to influence not just this team but the
league one hundred and twelve clean sheets in regular season play.
Speaker 10 (01:56:42):
Or goes back to Alex Roldan.
Speaker 20 (01:56:44):
Can the Sounders continue their remarkable form and number of
results against Minnesota. As we mentioned the first if one
lost two Minnesota in MLS play since Minnesota came into
the league.
Speaker 10 (01:56:58):
All flicks four by a ten. He wins.
Speaker 20 (01:57:00):
The ball bounces around khn't be collected by Rosneck cleared
up to two gold Menu Boa rolls it out to
the look. There's nearsight the left right in front of
Brian Schmittz are on his feet now trying to urge
his team to step up a gear. It's been much
of Minnesota in the second half, Sounds dominating first half proceedings,
Minnesota getting the equal lines are in this second half
(01:57:22):
off for you, Boa as they build through the back.
The sound as FC socket is presented by Provident, Swedish
official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. It's got Ral Rudiez
of course on the bench. It feels all the Sounders
(01:57:42):
just need to find something to turn this game.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
Brad. Yeah, Well look, look, I think if you're a
center back or any of the outside backs with a
Sounders you're begging your front six to just keep the
ball and keep sustained pressure because you've been defending for
twenty minutes now. It seems pretty consistently and not just
defending in a way that you're having to sprint, but
you're blocking shots, and then you have to defend for
a corner and then you lose the ball, and then
all of a sudden, you find yourself as a center
(01:58:05):
back with the ball and you're so tired that you
don't make the right decision and then you have to
defend again. So the front six have to take onus
and put their foot on the ball in the attacking
third and knock the ball around. Yes, you're gonna have
to find your center backs every so often, but if
I'm an attacker, I'm thinking these guys have just.
Speaker 10 (01:58:20):
Been under pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:58:21):
Let me give them a break by US six keeping
the ball against an average Minnesota side, right, And that's
what has to happen for the Sounders to at least
close this one out finish at one to one, because
this one could get ugly as this game goes on
and Minnesota picks up the ball in the Sounders defensive third.
(01:58:41):
As a center back, I'm screaming, guys, just keep the
ball for five minutes. Just give me a little bit
of a breath and let me find my way into
this game.
Speaker 10 (01:58:50):
Sam is free kick off the back of a yellow cud.
Speaker 20 (01:58:52):
That's the SGB yellow cud or a foul is cold
SGB Troyal Lawyers.
Speaker 10 (01:58:56):
Oh hey, it's a help, is it? SGB dash law
dot Com.
Speaker 20 (01:59:00):
That was for tips Aaron elbow pull goes long, easy
to deal with for Minnesota two with those big boys
of the beck. So the betcher from the sounder is
keep the ball in the deck, rolls it out to
his nissidey're right with Christian rolled on missus Ross flicks
it into a tent sho strikes and speculatively goes off balance,
goes over the top goal kick. Aaron Saint Paul Minnesota
(01:59:21):
two sounder is two bright Evans.
Speaker 2 (01:59:23):
Yeah, you can see Vargas upset there. The Sounders are
in that right position that we just talked about to
maintain possession on top of Minnesota's eighteen and just move
them around a little bit and wait for that chill
a pass to open up, much like Minnesota did on
their break. But Tensio, trying to shot from distance, initially
shaped his body. With Jordan Moore sitting at the far post,
I thought he was going to just click that ball
(01:59:44):
into the far post and allow Jordan to get something
on the end of it, because as a center back,
that's the last thing you want to be turned around
facing your own goal with an attacker on your left.
I mean, yes, Sounders might get a corner kick out
of that. It might be a drop ball on top
of the eighteen instead of goes out for a Minnesota
goal kick.
Speaker 20 (02:00:02):
Change from Minnesota off goes Sam Ben Jeong be'n act
him on that right hand side and comes DJ Taylor
signed in February of twenty twenty one. Came out of
the USL, so good story there, found himself to be
a squad player, now is.
Speaker 10 (02:00:17):
Becoming a contributes.
Speaker 20 (02:00:19):
The ball gets driven forward by Atensio, Boat mounts around
clip by Dotson, and it was Rusneck and Dela Vega
just hanging out on the back post.
Speaker 10 (02:00:28):
Ball didn't come to them.
Speaker 20 (02:00:29):
Morris made the run towards the front post, couldn't connect.
Speaker 10 (02:00:32):
It's gonna be a corner kick, but chance for the Sounders.
Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
That's why you bring on fresh legs and a young
player in this heat, just like Josh Atencio on look
at this, he just pushes past and slips this run
across the six and sounds just in all the wrong
positions there, Jordanova ran it, and then you got Rusnak
and de la Vega sitting in the same spot on
the back of the sixth one's got to make a
darting run and lose their defender.
Speaker 10 (02:00:53):
Step over by de la vega left foot.
Speaker 20 (02:00:55):
Now clips it in, headed forward by Reagan, collected in
the box by Yama, back to Alex rolled on to
attention this time does clip it in evades Boxel finds
Rosnick top of the box. De la Vega to his left,
doesn't find and goes to his.
Speaker 10 (02:01:09):
Right foot strikes it. What a goal.
Speaker 20 (02:01:12):
Great finish by Rosnick, as to his assist from the
game with a goal from twenty five yards, drops his
shoulder and then it rips a shot into the boxom
corners put the Sounders.
Speaker 10 (02:01:25):
Up three goals to two.
Speaker 2 (02:01:27):
I don't want to say we know what we're talking about,
but in that case, we know what we're talking about.
That just good patience by the Sounders. Balls swung in
and Yemar does all the right things and maintaining possession
drops the ball back to Alex rolled on and then
it's that it's the weight of the pass from Alex
rolled On to find Nitensio and it's the first time
clips him ball to the far post and all of
a sudden, Yes, you're under pressure there, and I think
(02:01:48):
it's Boxel that has to head that ball on the
top of the eighteen and Rusnak makes good work of
lud loses his footing and then he just smashed that
ball near post because you know, Dane Saint Clair thinks
it's going far post, curled comes across camp and see
it hits off the post and finds the back of
the net. Sounder's up three to two, and that's what
you have to do, sustain pressure in the attacking half
put in Minnesota in positions where they have to actually
(02:02:11):
defend and win those second balls. Well done by the Sounders.
Speaker 20 (02:02:16):
Good defense, I've headed by Yeahmo just cushions it back
to Stephan Fry. Now the Sounders have another lead to protect.
Ten of the last fourteen games the Sounders have played
in all competitions, they've scored two or more goals. Tonight
they've scored three goals. So Sounders didn't start the season
in particular great goal scoring form, but they've certainly found
(02:02:38):
in the last couple of months threat going forward. In
a variety of players Jordan Morris, Reagan, Rozneck today and
you've still got Roal Ridiez to bring off the bench
if you knite need him. Sounders leading three goals to
two seventy six minutes gone here in Saint Paul got
(02:03:00):
to lead to protect the minnesotao' got to continue to push.
Speaker 10 (02:03:03):
They've looked lively in the second half.
Speaker 20 (02:03:06):
Sounders have absorbed most of the pressure that loose by
that goalscorer. Rusnak on the touch picked up by Dots
and the middle of the park, flicks it to the
middle to long Warni rolls it out to the far
side the right to substitute Taylor.
Speaker 10 (02:03:18):
Good challenge by Knew right from the assistant or referee,
a little laid.
Speaker 20 (02:03:22):
By tailor on the challenge, but no foul given as
they pick it up, throating quickly to Minnesota on the
far side. They're right dominated possession of sixty percent in
the second half, but the Sounders have done what they
do well as an away team. They've absorbed some pressure,
given up a disappointing goal, but have rebounded shown resilience
(02:03:43):
now and as they face adversely, the Sounders have found
a way to get back in this game, and they
lead stripe by Harvey ricochets of Atensio. We've been lively
in the middle of the park, adding it a little
bit of fresh energy as the Sounders now with Deleva.
Speaker 10 (02:04:00):
The ball gets cleared, Dela Vega is gonna chase it down.
It's rolled back to Saint Clair.
Speaker 20 (02:04:05):
But this copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may
not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written
consent of Major League Soccer. Minnesota have it in the back,
sound As happy just to drop their line of confrontation
to the halfway line when Minnesota come at them, as
(02:04:26):
they it's such a retreat. Ball goes down line too
easily to look towards the end Line's left foot clips
it in, comes off.
Speaker 4 (02:04:35):
Long Ronnie.
Speaker 10 (02:04:38):
To Harvey to Taylor.
Speaker 20 (02:04:40):
Sounders holding just inside their eighteen yard box, dots and
fed away. Native rolls it out to the far side
to substitute Taylor, rolls it towards the end line too,
dots and clips it in a good headed clearance by Alex,
rolled on high and away.
Speaker 10 (02:04:54):
Then she knew who rolls it out to Delavega. Here
come the Sounds. In transition, Jordan Marri's making a powerful
run down the middle.
Speaker 20 (02:05:00):
Here he comes, he's in behind, He's got a chance
to finny second all the night clips a good saved
by Saint Clair.
Speaker 10 (02:05:05):
Followed by Dela Vega.
Speaker 20 (02:05:06):
Top of the Bucks find space, good save again, get
to Tensio, gether he cod the clarence by bok Soil
comes off of Tensio.
Speaker 10 (02:05:17):
The Sounders had a chance from Jordan Morris.
Speaker 20 (02:05:21):
Then Dela Vega couldn't get the fourth goal for you
see Josh Tensio on the deck with box silver Brad Evans.
Really good chance, really good play in transition.
Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
To look at this breakaway and this is where Pedro
de Lavega finds his spot. As that ball turns over,
he fades wide and finds Jordan behind him. Just takes
a little bit of a mistouch. I'm not sure why
I didn't round the keeper on that play. Ball falls
to Pedro de la Vega. He could have taken a
touch around there. As you see in Saint Clair goes
to ground a bit early. Pedro takes the touch, loses
the keeper, but somehow Dan Saint Clair gets a hand
(02:05:52):
on and then it's the follow up from Atensio commits
the foul and Saint Clair you can see fired up
on that one. And now I want to put this
one to bed for the Sounders in Minnesota, and that's
gonna be on here as Minnesota starts to push forward.
That's why Pedro de la Vega's on the field. He
has a knack for finding those spaces as Minnesota's defenders
(02:06:12):
start to vacate outlide and tuck inside. He's a savvy
enough player to know that player tucks in. I know
that there's space on the outside, especially playing against three
in the back.
Speaker 20 (02:06:22):
It comes load with his cultured left foot driving forward
top of the box, almost surveys the Sounders back line.
They managed to hook it clear.
Speaker 10 (02:06:32):
But Sound as fans.
Speaker 20 (02:06:33):

eighth minute during a home match, you'll have the chance

Slash laser focus as dots and takes a touch. It
slight ricochet from where's Jackson or can close the ball
down finds the hands of Stephan Fry, who takes his
(02:06:54):
time just to burn off some more valuable seconds. We
get here in the eightieth minute, Sounds leading against Minnesota
be a big win coming back into MLS regular season play.
Nine games to go in this season, sound as if
had good form coming in to this game, had a
(02:07:14):
good running League's Cup, and in the last twelve games
and so on, eve been two losses, both being LAFC
both the score of three goals, and ill will be
the Sounders who have a chance to redeem themselves in
midweek in the semi finals of the US Open Cup.
Speaker 2 (02:07:29):
As we look at the maximum speed in this one,
Jordan Morris twenty two point two miles per hour. He's
gotten in a number of times in behind, and there's
no one from that back line of Minnesota in that
top six or seven, so opportunities is this one gets
into the last ten minutes to know, yeah, Jordan's got
some tired legs, but turn it on right, You're gonna
have that speed every single time getting in behind. And
(02:07:52):
Christian Wildon and that previous played is such a good
job of getting in between the ball and the player.
Something that I'd like to see more from Jordan is
that ability to just keep that ball in and back
in and win the foul. You don't have to stay
on your feet if you feel any pressure, like Freddie Montero,
like a raw wol, you have control.
Speaker 10 (02:08:11):
Dela Vega. Instringer finds the head of Jordan Morrice. Bryan's
is out. Well. You know he's been working on these
and it's heading in the last two or three years.
This time it goes win. It's gonna be a goalkick four.
Speaker 20 (02:08:22):
Minnesota in Saint Clair, Brian Schmidz, who patrols his technical area,
he's second minute here in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They were
hoping for a fresh start players coming back new signings.
Speaker 10 (02:08:41):
It's gonna take some time to about those players in.
Speaker 20 (02:08:43):
But one player that's certainly not taken any time to
get betted in is your Boa. Two goals in his
game so far for his MLS debut, his debut four
Minnesota United.
Speaker 10 (02:08:53):
It's like a good acquisition.
Speaker 9 (02:08:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:08:55):
Look, I think from Yo Boa, he's obviously just obsure
number nine. He's not gonna be that link up player.
Looks like from Minnesota, they're not going to look to
try and build through him. He's gonna be the final
product on every occasion. And he's got speed, he's got paid,
he's got power. Now the question is you have the
celebration where you're sipping tea, but can you make it
less about yourself and more about your team, then Minnesota's
(02:09:15):
gonna find success, right But they've shown tonight, Yeah, they
got the ability to put teams under pressure, whether that's
with long throw ins or that little slit ball where
he catches Jamark just a little off kilter. They have
a little bit of promise. But I think it was
a slow start in the first half that allowed the
Sounders to kind of take advantage, and without that, I
(02:09:36):
think Minnesota may have the advantage tonight, but it was
to Minnesota's own demise in that first st half. Still
with ten plus minutes to play in this one, but
they'll be kicking themselves in the foot if they get
out of here with zero points.
Speaker 20 (02:09:50):
Tepius has the ball, does Nissan switch to his left
foot all the way to the Foma soon it to
Taylor brings it down well back to Dutson, closed down
by Rosnik. Eleven men behind the ball for the Sounders
in that defensive third of the field doing that defensive work. Now,
try to protect Stephen Fry on his four hundred mls start,
Can he get a winner on this important day for
(02:10:13):
the Sounders goalkeeper ball gets whipped across the rossales this
near side strikes a good block by roll Don finds
a fit of tapeas Sounders holding top of that box strike.
Speaker 10 (02:10:24):
Speculative strike by Minnesota. I think it was Taylor.
Speaker 20 (02:10:28):
Sounders will say that all day long. Minnesota United two
Sounders three. As we see a couple more changes for
the men in green.
Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
Yeah, I think for the Sounders as a center back right,
both of us, we're going to be so excited when
a player takes a shot from forty yards hoping that
it's going to go in, especially after such good sustained pressure.
The ball gets slipped inside the eighteen and then all
of a sudden it gets circulated and you want to
take a shot from forty yards. Stephan Frill put his
hand up and say we'll take that all day. You
got a couple subs here and read Baker, Whiting and
(02:10:58):
Rollridiaz coming on the field, fresh legs. Give it ten minutes,
I think.
Speaker 10 (02:11:03):
So you think Christian well done, Let's get go.
Speaker 20 (02:11:05):
So Oben Vagas comes off Roznet comes off, so leaving
a bit of a void in the middle of the park.
Pedro de la Vega most likely will come inside to
the ten read Baker wanting comes on the field, probably.
Speaker 10 (02:11:16):
Play on the left and they got Raoul.
Speaker 20 (02:11:18):
We could also play in behind Jordan Marts, but it
looks at Jordan shifted to this right hend.
Speaker 2 (02:11:22):
Sorry, Jordan wide and Read wide most likely, and let
Pedro kind of patrol that number ten spot and see
if they can build a little bit of a relationship here.
You need that speed on the wings right now. The
last thing you want to do is tired legs on
the outside. You have to negate the overload from Minnesota,
and Jordan has put in some work tonight and now
he's got to continue to put his head down the
(02:11:44):
last round of subs for the Sounders, so we'll have
to close this one out on the right hand side.
But there's no reason why he can't ask Pedro and
in five minutes as he gets tired, to play out
wide and give him help and some support so they
can be a little bit savvy on the field.
Speaker 20 (02:12:00):
And is defending well so far leading here in the
eighty fifth minute, three goals to two, we'll get shifted
from center that's near side the left to long Wanne
rolls it into Rosales to Harvey tries to find the
foot of loading, made a little running behind Alex Roldan
sound has cut it out, come away with it with
the Sounders right back. We'll tug on the shirt by
(02:12:21):
lud advantage given by the referee Christian roll. Dan's now
shifted into the center of the park to play alongside
a ten co.
Speaker 10 (02:12:31):
So just a couple of sub It's a lot.
Speaker 20 (02:12:33):
Of changes across the park now in terms of positions
and personnel.
Speaker 10 (02:12:37):
We'll kind of outline that one more time in a
second as a Minnesota build out.
Speaker 20 (02:12:40):
But it's one of those questions, right, you bring on
they're winning three goals to two, You bring on two subs,
and you've changed albeit six or seven positions.
Speaker 5 (02:12:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:12:49):
Look, it's a tough one tactically, but it's not something
the Sounders are unaccustomed to. At this point in the season.
You've got to be willing to play other positions on
the field. Very rarely do you have yes center backs
play center back number six usually number six and a
number nine. Rowell's never gonna play anywhere else except maybe
a number ten. But everyone on this Sounders roster is
built to play in multiple positions. Jordan's played on the wing,
(02:13:11):
Reads plays as a right and left back. Christian obviously
started as a number six, so they are familiar with
those positions. And now for Schmitz, it's who's going to
be my freshest I can get on the field to
close this game out. Clog up the midfield, make them
play outside and try to force the ball down. Knew
whose side I think is going to be key as
Jordan looks a little bit gassed in this one.
Speaker 20 (02:13:32):
Well to see how sound is FC Rave Green Run,

SFC Rave Green Run dot org. It's gonna be a
free kick four Minnesota left channel this near side the
(02:14:09):
left foot of Rosales.
Speaker 10 (02:14:12):
Twenty five yards or so from the end line.
Speaker 20 (02:14:15):
Good chance for Minnesota now to put some good delivery
and Sounders holding. It's about fourteen yards or so from
Stephen Fry's goal. Minnesota attack of the goal to our left,
Paul gets whipped him by the left foot.
Speaker 10 (02:14:29):
Punch clear well by Fry.
Speaker 20 (02:14:30):
Good punch by the Sounder's goalkeeper comes out center to
Tailor whips it.
Speaker 10 (02:14:35):
In to Rosales again. On this near sight closed down well.
Speaker 20 (02:14:38):
By Rail, Roudier just wriggles out of pressure as Rosales
loll want two inside the box.
Speaker 10 (02:14:42):
Close down by Yemar. Combination of Sounders players just battling
for the balls. Yemar goes to the deck.
Speaker 20 (02:14:49):
Referee gives the foul, just what the Sounders won. Eighty
eight minutes gone, Sounders lead three goals to.
Speaker 10 (02:14:56):
Two grand Evans.
Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
Good good pressure from Minnesota, ever better defending from the Sounders.
At any point a Sounders defender could go down to
ground there and that's what Rosales is looking for. Any
chance to just take a little bit of contact. And
Yevar does everything well here unfortunately gain the foul. But
you look at a player like Rosales and how a
player like that would fit into the Sounders, And are
(02:15:18):
they begging for someone like that that can get up
and down that left hand wing and just go and attack.
Ten assists on the year, and you just ask yourself
if the Sounders had this, if the Sounders had that.
But he's a quality player given any inch there. He's
just looking for a little bit of contact here.
Speaker 20 (02:15:38):
If results hold, Sounders, of course been in the first
game of the weekend. Sounders now jumped to fifth position
with forty points. If the Sounders can see out these
final minutes we get so over a minute of regular.
Speaker 10 (02:15:49):
Time, we'll see what the referee adds so on. He
added five.
Speaker 20 (02:15:52):
Minutes in that first half for a VR calls, so
they're real delays to speak of in the second half.
Speaker 10 (02:16:01):
So we'll just see what Refrey Gonzale's junior adds on.
Speaker 20 (02:16:08):
Sounders drop into their defensive half of the field, just
that block things out, simple ble into lud almost finds
your bow again. It almost became too easy for the
Sounders as they dropped down into a low block.
Speaker 10 (02:16:19):
Louder was able to turn. Almost found your ba again
in behind the bat four. But the sound has come away.
Speaker 20 (02:16:23):
That ball goes into Rudiaz collected well by Rudiaz looks
for a little.
Speaker 10 (02:16:27):
Pop shot over Sinclair, puls it down, rolls it out
to Mars.
Speaker 2 (02:16:32):
You knew that Rudiez was always looking for that one.
Anytime Raoul picks up the bar at Halffield, you gotta
assume that he's gonna take a shot. At dayten, player
are doing everything you can to sit on top of
the six, but well, don my role regained possession. The
smart play there and the Sounders get to kill a
couple of minutes.
Speaker 10 (02:16:49):
Off of this clock. Well. Next up, as we've mentioned
throughout the broadcast, the Sounders are up against LAFC for
the US Open Cup.
Speaker 20 (02:16:57):
Semi Final on Wednesday August twenty eight to seven thirty
pm Pacific at Starfire Sports Complex. Watch the match for
the MLS Season pass on the Apple TV app and
listen on nine to fifty KGr AM. The Provident Swedish
pre match show with Jackson Feltz starts at seven pm,
four minutes of added time for the Sounders to see
(02:17:21):
this one out.
Speaker 10 (02:17:21):
They lead three goals to two here in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Speaker 20 (02:17:24):
Since two thousand and nine, Sounders stand on top of
all MLS teams in terms of road wins.
Speaker 10 (02:17:31):
Then they add another one.
Speaker 20 (02:17:33):
To push themselves up the Western Conference table. Nine games
to play, including this one of.
Speaker 10 (02:17:40):
The MLS regular season.
Speaker 20 (02:17:43):
They go to Pauland next week for a Cascadia showdown
between their arch rival, and then they'll face Pauland again
on the last game of the season, decision Day, hopefully
Sounders will be battling for the very top spot. At
that point, it all gets headed clear by Taylor read
Baker waiting on the field, playing on the left hand side,
(02:18:05):
just challenging the ball, holding onto lud who wriggles out
of pressure, roll out to Rossales on this near side,
comes in off that left hand side, rolls into your.
Speaker 10 (02:18:14):
Bow a little step over, almost caught out, yea, Mark
felt like them. I just kind of went to sleep
for a split second.
Speaker 2 (02:18:20):
Then, I mean the recovery from Alex willd on there
to know that if Yamar does step out, you have
to pressure, cover, balance, and Alex does the perfect move
there in covering and balancing out what came a back three.
Speaker 20 (02:18:33):
There comes a long one and strikes the ball comfortably
into the hands of Stephen Frisy falls to the grass.
It's going to burn off some more valuable seconds. We
get here close to the two minute mark of four
added time minutes by the referee, Sounders leading three goals
to two. Be a happy Sounders group singing jingle bells
(02:18:54):
in the locker room if they can see this one out.
Brone Schmitzer decided to change things up a little bit.
Traveled yesterday to Minnesota.
Speaker 10 (02:19:08):
So far, so good for the men in Green.
Speaker 20 (02:19:11):
Absorbs some pressure coming out the second half by Minnesota
dominated much of the first after the Sounders.
Speaker 10 (02:19:18):
And again some of those main players Morris, Bragan Rosnek
scored in this game.
Speaker 20 (02:19:27):
Can they continue this remarkable run against Minnesota? Are losing
one game in MLS play as Tensio those fresh legs
wriggles clear of Taylor goes down to the deck free
kick for the Sounders minute thirty left.
Speaker 2 (02:19:42):
Well, anything will do for the Sounders at this point
when you see it in normal circumstances, sound are going
to retain possession in their defensive third player back to
stuff and try to build out. And at this point
it's how do we get the ball into the corners
and make sure that we force Minnesota to play in
their own defensive third. Yes, you have to apply pressure.
You can't just chase like a chicken with your head
(02:20:03):
cut off. And has to be smart. It's got to
be tactical. And this is fine from Ragan all the
way into the corner, goes out for a goalkick. But
that's the ball that you want into the Appointance's defensive third.
Speaker 20 (02:20:14):
Goal cake four minuteso to minute to go here in
Saint Paul to be disappointing loss for Eric Ramsey.
Speaker 10 (02:20:20):
He was feeling excited about.
Speaker 20 (02:20:23):
Getting his players back on the field, getting a healthy squad,
new additions in the summer transfer window. Sounders have not
done that, but it shows again the Sounders have an
incredibly strong squad.
Speaker 10 (02:20:34):
Here comes rudiez out to Jordan Morris towards the end
that he can go?
Speaker 2 (02:20:38):
Can he go?
Speaker 10 (02:20:38):
In the corner?
Speaker 20 (02:20:39):
Mat burn Off these final seconds comes back to Alex
Roldan Sounds can hold the ball in his right hand
side see this game out. Christian roll Don gets nudge
in the back, sits in a referee standing two yards away,
puts his flag up in the air and Brad Evans
that might just be that.
Speaker 2 (02:20:55):
Yeah, that should do it tonight. And that's the play
you wanted right there. You're running away from goal, any
type pressure, you take a touch, feel anyone behind you,
and then you just hit the ground and that's the game.
Speaker 20 (02:21:05):
And as a referee whistle doesn't even allow the free
kick to happen.
Speaker 10 (02:21:09):
Bang on four minutes the referees whistle goes.
Speaker 20 (02:21:12):
To bring this game to an end. And what a
good win it is for the Sounders going into Minnesota
again getting a vital win continue their great run against
their Western Conference rivals.
Speaker 10 (02:21:25):
It was goals by Jordan Morris, his eightieth all competition goal,
standing on.
Speaker 20 (02:21:31):
His own, just behind ral Rudiez now surpassing Freddy Montero.
Jackson Reagan gets his second MLS goal of the year,
his third of the season added into a League's Cup goal,
and then right at the end, it was a wonderful
strike by Roznek in the bottom corner that sealed all
three points for the Sounders.
Speaker 10 (02:21:52):
Bred Evans your final.
Speaker 2 (02:21:53):
Thoughts, Yeah, it's the best way to bounce back from
a disappointing loss at home against LAFC in the League's
Cup and to come in the minute with that road
warrior mentality is what the Sounders are all about and
that record away from home, like you said, is something
that you gotta tip your hat to. Hats off to
Stephan Fry four hundred games, a massive accomplishment, Jordan Morris
eighty goals in all competitions. A great night for the Sounders.
(02:22:16):
And again Albert Rusnak with another strong performance player of
the match deemed by Apple TV with a goal in
and assist and well deserved. And so I think I
think tonight everything went well for the Sounders. Yeah, you
gave up a soft pek. That's one for me that
you let go. I don't even think they'll take a
second look at it. And obviously you're gonna give up
chances against MLS sides. This isn't achieve us USA where
(02:22:36):
you can win every game four or five, six, nothing.
It's a decent Minnesota side. So the Sounders. Fantastic result
of get back on the horse on Wednesday night face
LAFC in an Open Cup semi final at Starfire and
that'll be one to watch well thanks to.
Speaker 20 (02:22:50):
Mit schell blike Keeley Dunning of course the Sounders legend
Brad Evans. We'll see you back here on Wednesday night
when we will be at Starfire Sports for the US
Open Cup semifinal between your Sounders and LAFC.
Speaker 10 (02:23:03):
What a night that will be.
Speaker 20 (02:23:05):
But for now we'll take a short break. Jackson Felt
Pete Fewing. We'll be back to break it all down
from Aleance Field.
Speaker 10 (02:23:11):
In Saint Paul. It finishes minnesotnois to two Sounders three.

So how's your research going?
Speaker 14 (02:26:45):
Surprising? After I figured out the top rated TVs in
our price range.
Speaker 2 (02:26:50):
I went shopping for deals and who's the best.
Speaker 14 (02:26:53):
It wasn't the Internet, and it wasn't the Warehouse Club,
but it was Video Only. They had better deals on
the Samsung LG and the Sony TVs that got the
highest scores.
Speaker 28 (02:27:05):
Better than online and at the club.

I know, Video Only beat them all, and now we

Welcome to the Sounders FC postmat Show. Sounders FC Socker
is brought to you by Providence, Swedish, official healthcare partner

Speaker 3 (02:27:58):
Wow, it's a great resumption of MLS action for your
Seattle Sounders. A road win jingle bells to come out
there in Saint Paul as Sounders have defeated Minnesota United
a final score of three to two. Here tonight A
lot to break down here over the next half hour.
Jackson Feltz pee Fewing here for the postmatch show. We'll
mention that tonight's match has been presented by Umquabank, the
(02:28:20):
official banking partner of Seattle Sounders FZ umquad Bank together
for better all right, p Fewing Listen. That was a
game where Sounders scored early, Minnesota got back to make
it one to one. Sounders scored again and they went
into the half two to one leading. Minnesota scored early
in the second half to make.
Speaker 2 (02:28:37):
It two to two.
Speaker 3 (02:28:38):
Albert Rusnack eventually finds the winner in the seventy fifth
and we come away with a three to two win.
What are your instant opening reactions to this one?
Speaker 4 (02:28:46):
Three tremendous goals. That's the quality of those finishes, every
single one of them. I don't know that we've had
a game where we've had that kind of quality on
the finishing. Sometimes you get a little lucky and you
earn your luck, so you never want to take that away.
But I'll tell you what. The ball to Jordan Morris
from Obed, the ball to the ball from Christian to Obed,
(02:29:07):
Obed to Jordan, Jordan's first touch and then running full
speed the wherewithal the composure just to clip it up
and over Saint Clair and then the ball to the
back post. It was like an alley oop right Albert,
and I think it was one that Albert saw Reagan
at the back post, and Reagan was standing there saying
hit it to me. I saw this once with Messi
and Tierrynrie at loom and Field with Century Lincoln. They
(02:29:29):
kind of looked at each other like should we do it?
And and so Messi played it. Tierry and Ree got
up smashed the header. But that was such a great
ball from Albert and it was such a great header
from Jackson Reagan just you know, we always want him
to be the next Chad Marshall. That was Chad Marshall,
like it was so composed. He knew exactly where I
wanted to go. And then Albert rusnik Hey, he got it,
(02:29:51):
and Brad Evans said it that he got it, and
or Danny did that. I think Sinclair thought he was
going to go to his left and try to bend
it in like Alex roll Don did against the Galaxy,
and instead he just he just spanked that thing to
the near post. He just smashed it really hard and
low and it was off his foot and into the
back of the net before Saint Clair really could get
(02:30:11):
a look at it. So three great goals and to
come back. You know each time, right you're on the road,
you get the lead, you give up the lead, you
get the lead, you give it up again. Now you're tied,
and to have the wherewithal to stick with it. That
was a great team win. And as you said, we're
back to MLS play and what a great way to
jump up the table.
Speaker 3 (02:30:30):
It's a great way to break down each of those
three goals, and I do want to take it might
even take like a segment to try to decipher what
should be the Emerald Casino play the match, because they're
all so so good where I want to go in this,
you know, before we get there, and there's a lot
of things still to get to. We have our Toyota
Manva match that should be a discussion as well. I
know the Apple broadcast gave it to gave it to
(02:30:52):
Albert and and that's fair, but I think it's at
least a discussion because I think that there were some
really quality including from Jackson Reagan and I obviously with
the goal. We still have to, of course talk about
the Open Cup ahead for the Sounders, which will be
this coming Wednesday at Starfire Stadium against LAFC in the
semi final of Open Cup. There's a lot to get
to quickly before we move forward. I will say that
(02:31:13):
Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence Swedish, the official
healthcare partner of Sounders FC. And one of the things
that you know, we were talking in our production meeting
with with Brian Schmenzer this morning and I asked about
kind of the vibe of the team, you know, coming
out of League's Cup and you know, getting to the
quarter final.
Speaker 2 (02:31:29):
Which you know, compared to last year, was a great result.
Speaker 3 (02:31:31):
And then kind of but the result of losing three
nothing to LAFC, and I was on vacation, so I
wasn't around the players this week, but I was really
interested in kind of feeling out what the vibe of
this team was gonna be like this week. All Right,
you know, you lost three nothing, and that's obviously making
nobody feel good, But at the same time, it's almost
like a fresh start because you're in an entirely different
(02:31:53):
schedule now, back from League's Cup to the regular season,
where there's what eight nine notches left, and there's got
to be a big motivation, big push to get up
the table and to get a top four seed, earn
yourself home games in that first round series. And I
think the vibe I saw from this team in the
first half was cool, calm, collected.
Speaker 2 (02:32:14):
We're back in MLS.
Speaker 3 (02:32:15):
We're gonna keep doing what we've been doing in the
League's Cup, which more often than not is winning and
controlling games. It was the dominant nature for so much
of this game that stood out to me of these guys.
I don't know the vibe was, but the vibe on
the field was very professional, Pete.
Speaker 4 (02:32:29):
Yeah, that's the exact right word. It was professional because
Minnesota came out. Eric Ramsey must have given a very
uplifting speech test scene because Minnesota was in our attack
a defensive third for a good ten to fifteen minutes.
Seattle withstood the pressure. You got numbers behind the ball,
did a good job of you know, bending without breaking,
(02:32:52):
and then and then got that third goal. And you're right,
I mean you said it just before we came back on.
That was a professional win. And you know, Brian I
had chatted with him after the LA game and I
was quite impressed that he's, hey, we're on to the
next one, right, We're on and he meant it, And
that's great. That's the what you have to say. But
(02:33:13):
what they did was they were on to the next
one today with Minnesota. They were looking at it. I know,
they're looking their chops.
Speaker 20 (02:33:18):
Now.
Speaker 4 (02:33:19):
They're going to sing their locker room song. They're going
to get back on a plane tonight and they're going
to be really looking forward to l a f C.
For the US Open Cup at Starfire, which is a
completely different venue, and they get redemption. They're they're looking
for redemption there. But it was a professional win today,
and so talk is cheap, you know when you say,
all we're on to the next one. But they backed
(02:33:41):
it up today. So I kudos Brian made good subs
as well, ten Con for JP and dla Vega look good.
Rothrock did his part to get us to a certain place,
and then d la Vega looks just so dangerous and
you know, Ruidia is getting him on the field for
a few minutes was mentally why. So I thought Seattle
(02:34:02):
was really good today. The game was wide open, it
was back and forth. It wasn't you know, a dominant
performance where they didn't have the ball and have opportunities,
but we stood what they brought to us. And then
we've scored thirteen goals in the last five games. We've
given up six. So we were looking for gold production
at the beginning of the year. We're starting to get that.
Speaker 3 (02:34:20):
I do think the first half was dominant. I think
the last ten minutes was dominant. I think the sounders
from for much of that game really dominated him. And
I think Pedro de Le Vega. I mean, let's all
be honest with ourselves. I think Pedro's Padro's still working
back to one hundred percent fitness.
Speaker 10 (02:34:33):
We all know that.
Speaker 3 (02:34:35):
And I mean there was a moment in the seventy
ninth minute where he picks up a save. Jordan Is
on a breakaway, Saint Claire makes a great save, pops
back out to dalea Vega. Dale Vega actually gets around
Saint Clair after the rebound, and I mean, if he's
at one hundred percent day, le Vega scores that and
it's four to two in the seventy ninth minute, and
we're going home happy. That's that's a play where like
(02:34:57):
dale Vego looked very good and in that moment, nine
times out of ten he's scoring that and making it
a fort to two game.
Speaker 2 (02:35:04):
It was just, you know, it was one little moment
that clearly, clearly.
Speaker 10 (02:35:08):
Showed what he can do.
Speaker 2 (02:35:09):
Yeah, and he very much so.
Speaker 3 (02:35:10):
Yeah, and he's gonna want that one back and he'll
be thinking about that. But that's of course what you
want out of your attacking players.
Speaker 22 (02:35:16):
Let it.
Speaker 2 (02:35:16):
Let it sink it.
Speaker 3 (02:35:17):
He's gonna want that moment again where he gets around
a goalkeeper. But isn't able to score it, because he
will next time.
Speaker 4 (02:35:23):
Yeah. Well, here's what I loved about that. I'm glad
you brought it up. I wrote it down as well
in the seventy ninth is that he saw Jordan Morris
and he played it to him right away.
Speaker 10 (02:35:29):
That's a great ball.
Speaker 4 (02:35:30):
Yeah, you're right, he knows what this team is about.
Whereas we saw a Minnesota team that started two guys
that haven't played yet. They debuted today and they weren't
on the same page. And so day le Vegas had
his opportunity to watch a lot from the bench. But
he saw Jordan Morris doing what Jordan does, which is
getting him behind, and he played it to him right away.
If you had taken another touch, play doesn't work exactly.
(02:35:52):
And you're right, I think he finishes that chance. I
think Jordan Jordan doesn't round the keeper very often, right,
he's got paid. Yeah. I love the fact that they're
saying he's running at twenty two and a half miles
an hour. Good lord, I can't ride that play. I
can't ride a bike that fast. But yeah, so I
but I love that he saw it, yeah, and he
(02:36:13):
played it right away, and that builds confidence for Jordan
Morris too, right, because now there's a trust factor that
you know Pedro's gonna get him the ball when he
gets to the right spot.
Speaker 3 (02:36:23):
Well, it's a three to two Sounders winn in Minnesota,
a great resumption of the MLS regular season schedule. Of course,
there's a busy week ahead. We'll talk about that ahead,
but we also have to figure out the player of
the match and the play of the match.
Speaker 2 (02:36:36):
A lot more to get to here.
Speaker 3 (02:36:37):

Speaker 2 (02:37:01):

Speaker 13 (02:37:24):

Speaker 3 (02:37:25):
We're not looking to make people uncomfortable and sick. If
I wore a tank top and shorts, people would be
uncomfortable and.
Speaker 4 (02:37:32):

Welcome back to the postmatch show. The Sounders took care
of business. That's why we play taking care of business
after every Sounders win. It's a road taking care of business.
As the Sounders are singing jingle bells out there in
Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (02:41:40):
A three to two win tonight over the Loons.
Speaker 3 (02:41:43):
Lot here to get to as we really kind of
start discussion here on tonight's Toyota Man of the Match, Pete.
I know that the Club on Socials and also the
Apple broadcast went with Albert Rusnak. I think it's a
very fair pick, and I think it may be the
correct pick. I would just throw in Jackson Reagan because
I thought Jackson Reagan had some really strong defensive moments
(02:42:04):
in this game. I think that we can get into
the one moment that wasn't but that goal that he scored.
And and I don't want to tip my hand too
much for my vote for play the match, but we've
been asking Jackson Reagan for so long to get up
in the air. You're so big, you have the size
on people. You're gaining the muscle on people. Enforce your
(02:42:26):
will on those, whether it's set pieces or you know,
just in the air, and he enforced his will. But
it's not only about gaining that positioning that you kind
of had to get that position, but it's about the
placement of the header.
Speaker 2 (02:42:38):
Peat.
Speaker 3 (02:42:39):
It was such a sensational header to place it in
that spot, and not to mention it comes six minutes
after Minnesota made it one to one. Talk about statement,
it's like, no, you're you. You think that you can
finally get your second win ever against us, No, we're
here to beat you again. I love that header in
the twenty eighth I would give a half of a
(02:42:59):
vote from Man of the Match to Jackson Reagan. Yeah,
there was a bit of that in the air exactly right.
Speaker 24 (02:43:04):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:43:05):
Now we're fourteen wins, one loss and two ties. There
was a bit of a note, we're going to keep
you down. Yeah, what I loved. He squared his body up.
You could see that Albert picked him out. You could
see that Jackson was saying, hey, get it to me here.
He got his body up, he got his positioning. Who
won the space and then while winning the space, that's
part one part two, knowing exactly where to go. Sinclair's
(02:43:26):
a really good goalkeeper. I mean he's for him to
get scored on three times, but you know, like Steph
against LAFC, you couldn't really fault him for the goals,
right and Sinclair, you couldn't fault him because that was
a terrific goal. Again, I watched a couple epl games
this morning, and you know that would have gone in
(02:43:46):
in the Arsenal game.
Speaker 10 (02:43:47):
That placement was insane.
Speaker 4 (02:43:49):
Yeah, it's perfect. It was perfect. And so you know,
you reach your in my opinion, you reach your prime
in this game when you're twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight,
and he's getting closer to that age. So he's starting
to learn what he can and can't do, and you
know he's let's hope he continues with that. For him
to get two goals is great. For him to get
five goals is mls.
Speaker 2 (02:44:10):
That's the number you gave Chad Marshall years back.
Speaker 4 (02:44:12):
Yeah, when Chad Marshall would do that, we'd get a
cup of some kind. Because and then what it does
is it opens it up for Jordan Morrise, it opens
it up for Gomez Andrade, it opens it up for
Christian Holdon, who's very good in the air. You just
have another weapon, and when it becomes something that happens
all of a sudden, the cornerkick takes on a whole
new meeting.
Speaker 3 (02:44:30):
Absolutely, and listen, I think that the half vote for
me for play the match only only a half because
at the end of the day, there's that moment in
the fifty sixth minute where the ball was slipped into Yoboa,
the new Minnesota striker. There're no number nine and the
Sounders defenders I believe it was Yamar and Jackson between them,
they were just cast sleeping and it's a poor defending
(02:44:51):
moment that there's no excuse for it. It's just it's
just whoops and and that slight mistake there probably costs Jackson,
but it is Albert Rusnik.
Speaker 2 (02:44:59):
I think Pete man of the match.
Speaker 4 (02:45:00):
I would agree. I mean, he got the game winning
goal and he got a tying assist, and you know
that one that Yoboa, that's you know, Kai Kamara mustling
somebody out, you know, yeah, b Wonga mustling somebody out.
Jordan Morris, we've seen Jordan Morris muscle someone out with her.
It's is getting his body right and getting some speed.
If we can, if we can stop those kind of
(02:45:22):
things and we can continue to get these kind of
header goals, Yep, it's a great next eight games for Seattle.
Speaker 3 (02:45:28):
Well, that is going to be Albert Rusnak, your local
