Welcome to the Sounders FC postmat Show. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you
by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partnerof Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC
postmatt Show starts now. It's thefinal from Sandy Utah in America. First
field Real Salt Lake two and yourSounders nothing and for Salt Lake it's goals

(00:23):
in the twenty seventh minute and thefifty eighth minute to Carlos Andres Gomez and
Diego Luna get the goals for thehost tonight. As a Seattle going in
with a very rotated squad, aswe pointed out in pregame, RSL definitely
did not rotate much, including ChichoOrongo, Diego Luna, Andres Gomez,
all of them their normal attacking startersthey started and starred in this game.

(00:46):
As RSL get the two nothing win. Jackson Fellas and Marcus Hannaman back here
in the Seattle studios will we joinedon site in Sandy Utah from Diego Ario
here in about ten to fifteen minutesor so. But Marcus, that was
you know, it's a tough onefor the Seattle Sounders, but it does
kind of feel like, you know, you had a rotated squad, they
didn't rotate much. You beat Portlandon Sunday, you got Vancouver in a

(01:07):
big Cascadia Cup match on Saturday.I'm weirdly not too frustrated right now.
I mean it is away from home, but I mean, go ahead,
I see the phase you're making.Go be honest. Yeah, I just
don't see. Like and I saidit before he went on, no one
is playing in my position, like, no matter what, Like, I'm

(01:32):
gonna play if I can play,I'm playing. So you're telling me that
those guys couldn't play. Now yougot Christian Rolldan Jordan Morris coming in,
and then it's hard to get theflow of the game right, and I
just don't get it. You know, it's a little bit frustrating, I
know. You know, you've gotthese medical professionals, you know, who
are now making decisions on who's playingbecause oh, we need to rest him.

(01:53):
JP couldn't go the whole game.So it's a great idea, right,
But now then Christian rolldand comes infor him, you know, and
JP's arguably our best player, andyou know, it just doesn't go our
way. But you know, Dannycould have scored made it one one right
right after the first goal, adifferent game, and so you go through

(02:13):
these things and there's a lot ofpositives as well, but ultimately right you're
they were had their eyes set onVancouver, but it seems like you're just
going now and just giving a resultaway. Yeah. And it's funny because
in the span of a thirty fourgame MLS season, it did you know,
h injuring this month? I meanwhere there's right now, I mean

(02:34):
there's eight games in the month ofMay where you have a Wednesday game every
single week from you know, OpenCup, and then we have this,
and then we have Open Cup nextWednesday, and then two weeks from today
it's Salt Lake on another Wednesday atlumen Field. And there's some moments where
you kind of just almost look atthe schedule ahead of time and say,
all right, well, you canalready see fans use the term punting a

(02:55):
game, which obviously is a playerside. I imagine it's just an infuriating
But from from my soleast, I'mkind of going, all right, well,
listen to first place RSL good.It sort of adds up. But
I get what you're saying in thesense of, you know, if you're
gonna have you Christian rule down playforty five minutes, can you have him
play the first forty five minutes? Can you see what this team can do

(03:16):
with Christian right off the bat?And we saw him score against Portland right
in the nineteenth minute. Can yousee what Christian can give you from the
start rather than the finish trying toget into at that point what was a
one nothing game. Yeah, butnow they're supposed to be limiting JP's minutes
to forty five minutes, So nowwho do you bring in? Right?
So they're trying to put some experiencewith some younger players. They're supposed to

(03:37):
have that kind of that middle going. But it is difficult, right,
I mean, you know, andthen where do you where do you make
a draw the line of where youwant to give up points or not?
And but it still comes down youknow, I played in England a long
time and we played Saturday Tuesday,Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday Tuesday all through
up to Christmas every week and noneof our guys were wanted to sit out.

(04:01):
So yeah, so then the questionis why why why does that happen
there and not here? Is isit just simply the player quality? Is
is it? The is it thestaffs? Is it? Is it something?
I mean, obviously higher quality playersin England compared to MLS obviously,
Yeah, but a lot of thatstuff. A lot of my time was
in the championship, so I meanthere might be a little bit of parody

(04:21):
there, right, So there's notravel, right, the games aren't as
hot, but supposedly they're better athletesnow, right, yeah? Or are
they not better athletes? No,you're you're as You're absolutely right. So
I think overall, you just lookat you know that that goes for all
sports, right, the physique andwill be records continuing to get broken,
Olympic records. Can athletes in generalare better physically now than they've been at

(04:44):
any point in human history. Ithought you were looking at my physique there
and it's well, there's definitely hey, there's definitely some records. You hit
a five over today, Marcus Adaman. Yeah, Pete got it wrong.
He said seven over. That's fiveover from the Blues. I just had
a little bit better day on thegolf course than the Sounders did tonight down
in the Sandy Utah as they followby a final score of two nothing.

(05:08):
You mentioned the positives really quickly. You know, we don't have a highlight,
but we always do our Emerald QueenCasino Play of the match, and
I'd like to do the play ofthe match and just gesture at the entirety
of Georgie Manongu because this kid continuesto show just I mean, he earned
it. He keeps earning spots inthe twenty for for the roster twenty,

(05:28):
whether it's you know, starting Lanthtonight, bench in the future. I
just see him as one of thesepositives tonight. And I can't pick one
specific play, but it's his abilityto continue at running, running at guys
and taking it on and not he'ssort of the kids saying, this isn't
my second game in MS. I'mjust going to keep acting like I belong
here and keep beating defenders down theline. Well, yeah, you mentioned

(05:51):
it's only a second game. Butyou know he's he does have that confidence.
So he goes, I'm gonna takepeople on, and what it does
is it puts the other team underpressure, right, and you know one
he's kind of he's come back inside. It's kind of hit off him,
hit off his shin and now he'sin a good scoring opportunity, right.
And you know when he when heplayed in the Open Cup, he looked

(06:12):
good and tonight he was probably ourbrightest star. And when I look at
you know, all these other thingsthat are going on, there's you know,
Stephan kept us in, you know, kept it at two. He
made some really good saves in thatgame. Jonathan Bell made it unbelievable block.
And if you have a chance togo back and look at the highlights,
you want to see a man standthere as a guy's lining up full

(06:33):
power half volley or side volley fromabout three yards away. He just stood
there, put his arms behind hisback and blocked it seventy second minute.
I mean, man, that JohnBell, I mean that that that play
in hisself, I mean to keepa game to nothing at that point.
John Bell was fantastic too. Soas a goalkeeper, I'll play with him
anytime. Yeah, right, he'swilling to. I'm putting my body on

(06:55):
the line, throwing my body,my head down at people's feet, and
I want to see the same frommy form, my players, that commitment,
right, and you know he needsto keep improving. You know,
we got you know, Jamr's nowlooks like he's back, and it'll be
difficult to get in there. Butnow you can see if you know you've
got Jackson Reagan, it gives usa good a good choice back there,
right, and he needs to keepgrowing, get stronger faster like everybody else.

(07:18):
Right, and uh, but it'sthere's a lot of positives from him.
Well, you have two more weekswhere you have Open Cup next Wednesday
and again RSL the week after that, and if the Sounders beat Phoenix and
the Open Cup, then they'll haveanother midweek Open Cup game. You're gonna
need center back rotation. And nowfor Brian Schizer, you say John Bell
is available for me, that's astarting quality center back I have right there.

(07:41):
For everyone, there's no you know, pressure if if John Bell has
to pair with the amar if JohnBell has to pair with Reagan, there's
no concern there because you have sucha dependable center back who's, by the
way, the center's guy him inthe re entry draft. I mean this,
this was a guy who the Soundersjust said he's available. Yeah,
I mean he's fourth center back forus. I think at the time,

(08:01):
even a fifth center back for us. Because they had ari Yaga at the
time and they had Nathan so he'sjust kind of behind all of him.
And he even works as a fullback, you know, depth in those
positions, had left back and nowhere he is the third center back on
the roster and a pretty damn goodone. Yeah, it's it's it's good
to see and you know, itgives us a good, good cover in

(08:22):
there for sure, and but justa difficult game. And you know against
a good RSL team at RSL,right, we knew it was always going
to be a hill battle tonight. But a little bit disappointing. And you
look at the possession and you know, all those different things, but there's
just tiny little things when you thinkback at the game. You know,
I think Stephen Fry hit a longball, nobody went up for it.

(08:43):
Two guys standing there and Schmeetz waslosing his mind on the sidelines, as
was I sitting on my iPad outsidethe studio there, and you're like,
so much is if you just gofor a run. We had, we
had some good opportunities, we gothim behind them, We created a you
know a lot of good half chancestoday. Yeah, five really good chances
there in the first half, noneof them go. We did reference one

(09:05):
specific play, but I'll tell youthat. The play of the match is
presented by Emerald Queen Casino, thebetting capital of the Northwest. Hopefully we'll
have a goal to have that asour play of the match coming up on
Saturday against Vancouver. Well this seasonwhen the Sounders. When you win a

of two nothing. We joined inSandy Utah by Diego Audia. That's next
on the postmatch show sports Radio atnine to fifty KJR. AM. You're
listening to the home of Sounders FCSSports Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back

(09:48):
to the postmatch show. Sounders fallingtonight at Real Salt Lake by a final
score of two to nothing. Sounder'se FS Soccer is presented by Providence,
Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Let's head down Sandy Utah. Diego
Audio just called the game for MLSTSeason Pass on Apple TV. Diego,
How you doing down there, heyJackson, how are you guys? Uh?

(10:09):
Well, obviously it's a top lossfor Seattle Sounders tonight it was an
exciting game, I would say thefirst forty five. And I know you
guys were talking about the performance ofshell Founders in particular, but I have
to say that I consider the rotationfrom branch Metz and also at the end
that you're playing against the best teamin the Western Conference, right and tonight

(10:31):
it showed how re also Lake It'salways been a really strong team in particular
Deseason but also here at America FirstField. But it was a I was
a top loss. You lose thatmomentum. But I think now it's one
of those games that you need toit's you know, hid necks right in
terms of time to move on quickly, because that's that's the only way to

(10:52):
prefer against important match that's gonna beeven cool white cups on the weekend.
But what I saw on the fieldtoday, I think it's, you know,
we have some I would say somany important performances in general. I
think the line of the back inthe four with I mean Jackson ringholds,
but then you have Bell, youhave Koie Baker and Guitahara. You could

(11:13):
see that, you know, theyhaven't played that much together, right,
and I think that that showed eventuallyas the game progressed. And also it
was just hard. Also in themidfield they had a really challenging time against
brian Ohead I have had a reallystrong match or Vera really strong and you
could see also Joel Polo that couldn'tyou know, couldn't finish the game is

(11:33):
still recovering to get to one hundredpercent. So I would say tough loss
here in Sandy, Utah. ButI think you can you can at least,
you know, say that it wasat to nil and it could be
it could go way worse, Ithink at the end of the day.
So right if if we see andwe were honest about how the match was
played. But I think for Rachmetterreally thinking about how how to move on

(11:56):
quickly, and I think against Vancouverwhite Caps, especially the lost tonight as
well, you can really you know, take that that momentum back, especially
back at Lumenfield and Diego. Ithink something that Marcus now we're talking about
in the previous segment was the frustrationlevel of this game? You know,
I said, I'm not too frustratedgiven the rotation, given the Portland game

(12:16):
and Vancouver ahead, which clearly theteam is getting ready for your Marcus brought
up a good point of of youknow, for Christian and Jordan, you
know, you come on the trip, you are you know, available,
and you have to come into amatch when at that point it's already one
and two, nothing down, andit's hard to kind of you know,
get your running and get you know, get situated with the game that's already
kind of you know, with thatscore line. Overall, what's your frustration

(12:39):
level coming out of this one ifyou're if you're the Sounders, you know
how if you want out of ten, what's your frustration level if you're on
their team right now? Yeah?I know for strict definitely. So I
think that was unfortunate for a littlechew to get injured, right I think
you don't want to pick up injuries, especially in a game like this that
you're rotating a lot of players.I think that's that's definitely part of my

(13:01):
my my frustration for the Sounders andespecially Leo two was really being really we
know how quick he is and especiallyin that left wing, how dangerous he
could be, and he was makingthe good runs, the right decisions,
and then unfortunately he gets gets injured. And then I saw also I think
from the young players, it's alsotough, and we we said this at

(13:24):
the beginning of the game. That'sa great opportunity, but also when you
you're you're not having your best night, it could be really really frustrating for
for a young player. You don'tknow how to react. And you could
see also in the midfield you gotoverrun in. You know, when Joe
Pouell was on the field, itdefinitely was more control. But then when

(13:45):
when he went out, Uh,you're also like just dominated the midfield entirely,
right, and the second half wasreally struggling. You could see the
Thunders players they just wanted to finishthe game, like the last ten minutes,
right, it was tough. Itwas a tough loss tonight. He
was diego safe travels back to Seattle. We'll see us soon for Sounders Vancouver
and thanks for joining us you fora minute. Yeah, pleasure, pleasure

(14:09):
to be with you guys, tolove, but there's important game coming the
weekend, so hopefully we can turnthis around quickly. Indeed, there is
Thanks Diego. That's Diego Audio downthere. MLS Season pass on Apple TV
broadcast for Sounders and Salt Lake.RSL wins by a score of two nothing
tonight, and Delta Airlines is proudto donate one soccer ball for every mile
ran by Sounders FC players this seasonthrough Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball

(14:33):
program. We'll take a break andMarcus and I will talk about Vancouver coming
up here on Saturday, big CascadiaCup match at lumen Field. That's next
on the postmatch show sports Radio ninefifty KJR. AM, you're listening to
the home of Sounders FC, Seattle'sSports Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back
to the postmatch show Sounders. Followingtonight at RSL to nothing. We were

(14:56):
just lamenting in the break how muchGeorgia Manoono deserves a first team contract based
on these recent performances. And Ilooked good again tonight. If if there
was a bright spot out of theSounders and there was a couple, John
Bell one of them, but Georgiemanoon Go man, that kid has speed,
he has burst. He has determination, he has confidence in his runs.

(15:16):
I just personally I think the kiddeserves the first team contract. We'll
see what happens. But yeah,he was he was great and you know
how probably have another opportunity in theOpen Cup coming up next week. Well,
we'll see how the whole rule thingshakes out with how many times you
can play and be in short termagreements and all details that are are far

(15:37):
you know, the next level ofmy brain. But you know, yeah,
we have our producer looking at what'swhat's actual the rules are. But
I don't think the Open Cup countsfor those games so perfect Well then,
Georgie, I think my less starts. But I just hope you know,
these rules are set there for youknow, a reason that we don't overuse

(15:58):
these young guys and don't give contracts. But at the same time, it
seems like a lot of times wherethis rule has been enacted, it's it's
so that you send the guy homeand don't in where he could be playing
another game, right, and youknow, like, hey, we'll play
him another game. I'm sure theplayer would go, I just want to
play, yeah, right, andlet the chips fall where they may.
But I want to play, soyou know, and then like you said,

(16:22):
okay, we'll give him a contract. Right. If that's the case,
that's that's great because that's what it'ssupposed to be. But I hope
it doesn't limit his opportunity because he'sbeen a bright spot for sure. Certainly
has good for Georgia Manoonngo there wellfor the Seattle Sounders. Coming up next
is the Vancouver white Caps Saturday,May eighteenth. That's just a few days

(16:42):
away back home at lumen Field, our Providence, Spedish premat show will begin
at seven o'clock, kick off atseven thirty, and you can hear it
all on Sports Radio ninety three pointthree kg FM. Back on the FM
for the Cascadia Cup clash between theSounders and white Caps, you'd also listen
in Spanish thing on LA thirteen tosixty and watch the match via MLS Season

(17:03):
Pass on the Apple TV app.And of course, for Saturday's match here
in a few days, get yourtickets today by visiting SOUNDERSPC dot com slash
tickets. So the Vancouver white Capslast time they came to Seattle, I
don't at all remember what happened becauseI don't want to But Marcus, this
is a Vancouver team that you know. They also played tonight in Colorado lost
one nothing, and instead of rotating, they started everybody, Brian White,

(17:27):
Ryan Gold, their two stars, the great kind of combo that they have.
They went all full ninety minutes andthey got a red card to one
of their fullbacks. To look upexactly who it was, but I know
they got a red card to Utvic. So right now Vancouver is down one
of their starting players. They're alot less rested than the Sounders. They

(17:48):
got to travel down here. I'mreally liking how Seattle again, considering they
rotated tonight. I like how Seattleis set up for Saturday. Well,
as much as I said I didn'tlike the resting players tonight. You look
at this upcoming fixture and now Soundersare at thirteen points, Vancouver eighteen,
right, Like you get a resultagainst Vancouver, now you're at seventeen.

(18:11):
These six pointer games are massive,But now Colorado was and Vancouver were tired.
They were on eighteen points, right, So it's a big win for
Colorado. They move up to twentyone points. So when you're playing those
teams around you, it's really vitaland now it makes more sense. We
also like twenty five. Now you'relike, okay, maybe this was that
throwaway game, right, Okay,we got arrest guys because we're looking at

(18:33):
the future right of Saturday. Ijust don't like it. And as a
player, like no one's playing inmy position. Yeah yeah. And then
also I know the Sounders were stilldealing with injuries, and I know Raoul
and Obed we're questionable with injuries.Pedro still working back, and Pedro's going
to make his re entry to theteam on Saturday, according to Brian Schmitzer,
So that's gonna be awesome to seeGomes Andrade saw the field again,

(18:56):
so he's gonna can be back atcenter back. Knew whose yellow card accumulations
mentioned that's gone. He can beback at left back. So all of
these little things can add the Soundersup together to what hopefully should be a
fantastic performance coming Saturday against the whiteCaps and Marcus. It's a rivalry match,
and we just saw the Sounders getup for the Cascadia match against Portland.
You know, it sort of feelslike they're they're feeling the rivalries again.

(19:18):
So hopefully, you know, theprevious Vancouver match from a few weeks
ago, that was a tough loss. But this time, I don't know.
I'm thinking raul O bed. Theyweren't there in Salt Lake for this.
Hopefully their vibes and the vibes ofa guy like Goma's ANDROTI getting back
into the lineup, Hopefully the vibesjust kind of resume right where they were
on Sunday. Yeah, it's gonnabe a huge game, and Vancouver was

(19:41):
historically, you know, back inthe old A League days, was that
was our big rival. There wasno Portland then at that stage. But
a big game. Yeah, Ihave to text me on my in reach
and let me know the result. What do you say in reach? Yeah,
my little sid, I'm gonna bein the Grand Canyon. I'll be
like, oh wow, three daysinto a trip. But you could text

(20:02):
me that, oh, are yougonna golf on your trip? No?
No golfing. Well, I guessyou just take the seventy seven and just
say I'm good for a while.Yeah. Yea. My handicaps dropped to
a five to seven five point sevennow, so I'm gonna have to give
some people some strokes now. Congratulationson that again. Yeah, that's pretty
good. In case no one heardthat. That was today Marcus Annaman,
Ladies and gentlemen who shot us seventyseven today. Thank you to Marcus.

(20:26):
