The Provident Swedish premat show starts now.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
Well after three wins in their last four. Your Seattle
Sounders look to keep the good vibes going tonight and
they are starting a three match road swing in eight days.
It kicks off tonight down in Houston, Texas against the Dynamo.
So welcome into Sounders FC pre match show presented by
Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle. Sounders FC. Should
mention that tonight's match is presented by the Western Washington
(01:07):
Toyota Dealers. Jackson thoughts alongside Diego Audio and Pete viewing
as we are counting you down to kickoff thirty minutes
until Danny Jackson and Steve Zachawani take the air for
Sounders at Dynamo. Gentlemen, there's a lot to get to.
Let's kind of start with where the Sounders are sitting
right now. As I mentioned, three wins in the last
four and Pete, you know what I've been saying for
(01:28):
the last week is I think that win over Saint
Louis was probably the best game of the year for
the club.
Speaker 6 (01:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:34):
It was a bit of a replication of the LA
game as well, where they got all five goals and
gave up to This one with Saint Louis was just
a really solid performance, great goals, a variety of goals.
Speaker 6 (01:47):
The crowd was really into it.
Speaker 7 (01:49):
You and I were working that game, yeah, and when
we felt like the crowd was as fired up and
help repel the team forward and was having a lot
of fun. So there's a little bit more joy right
now in the club because they've been doing so well
over the last few games. It was a great win
and let's and Brian Schmetzer said today he wants to
take that momentum from the Saint Louis game and take
(02:09):
it on the road.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
He does not care that they're at Houston.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
He never really is worried between home game and road game,
but he wants to bring that same energy tonight totally.
Speaker 8 (02:18):
How are you, Pete Jackson? A pleasure being with you, guys.
Speaker 9 (02:22):
I agree and what coach Schmetz was saying about that
momentum keep going, and I think out of the three
road games, this is to me a must win right
against Houston, because after you have LAFC, then you have Portland.
I think this game and we know how games in
Houston are really exciting and unpredictable sometimes, but I think
(02:42):
the way and the shape of this team, it's really
important to get in the right foot and especially as
a coach said before the match, they need to show
that momentum from the minute one.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
It's a great, great couple points, Diego. I think, especially
the point of you look at what's coming and you
know it's Portland's playing really well right now.
Speaker 10 (02:59):
They have a good to their season. LAFC.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
We know LAFC, so getting three points in this one
would be very, very important, but coming off of a
great Saint Louis and there is a little bit of
rotation and we have to kind of get into that
before we get into the starting lineup for the Sounders tonight,
and of which there is a lot of topics to
discuss around that. Quickly, we'll dive into the Providence of the
Swedish team health reports to tell you who isn't available.
(03:23):
As always, it's presented by Provident Swedish, the official healthcare
partner of Sounders FC.
Speaker 10 (03:28):
Only three players on it.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Jackson Reagan still out with the right hamstring, not with
the team tonight, and by just talking to Brian Schmitzer
and his press conference earlier this week out at Long Acres,
doesn't sound like LAFC, but there is a pausibility for
Portland next weekend, so there is light on the horizon
for Jackson Reagan, Jordan Morris. We're still looking at, you know,
out roughly a month with that hamstring injury. Obviously hurts
(03:51):
the counter attack tonight, but we'll see what they can
do with the current wingers that are in Brian Schmitzer's
starting lineup.
Speaker 10 (03:57):
Of course, we all know.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Paul Ariola out with the A c Eltaire. Should be
noted that we used to have we had last week
Haeshu's Ferreira on the injury report. Hayeses Frera is off
the injury report from his adductor injury. He is on
the bench and available for Brian Spencer tonight. But in
terms of who is starting Pete Fewing, let's get to
Brian Spenszer's delta, starting eleven for the Sounders.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
Brian Spitzer puts out as usual four two three one,
Stephan Frye, your captain is goal in goal, Alex Roldon
in your right, knew Who on the left, in the middle,
Gomez Androte and Kim Key He in the middle of
the park, Obed Vargas. Christian rolled on on the right
this time instead of the left Paul Rothrock on the
left will be Ryan Kent and then Albert Rusnik will
(04:43):
sit underneath Danny Massovski.
Speaker 10 (04:45):
First start for Ryan Kent.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
That's certainly going to be one of the topics we
talk about in a moment before we get back to
that diego.
Speaker 10 (04:51):
What is Houston putting out tonight?
Speaker 9 (04:53):
So they have Jonathan Bund goalkeeping, then in the back
Daniel steris right back FEMEO withdu Ethan Bartlow center backs
and Griffin Dorsey on the left. We know the dander
of Griffin Brooklyn rains Artur and Jack McLean in midfield,
and on top we have ammbassiessekille Ponse in the middle
and Andre Linger also on the left side. To note,
(05:15):
Frankoskolar is out because of accumulation of yellow. So so
that's I mean, good news for the Sounder certainly.
Speaker 10 (05:22):
So you mentioned Ethan Barlow.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
By the way, former Washington Husky should be mentioned as well,
native of Woodenville, so you know he's obviously faced the
Sounders before. But always fun to note when you have
local products who are playing against the Sounders tonight. Wonder
if how many Sounder games he attended growing up here
and now here he is playing them.
Speaker 10 (05:41):
All right, let's go back to the Seattle Sounders lineup.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Pe Let's just start with the big thing that's of
course going to be catching everybody's eye, Ryan Kent. I mean,
we said it on the post game show last week
that he played what thirty three plus stoppage minutes. He
came off the bench in the fifty seventh minute, and
we with Kellen Rowe had a very long debate over
whether he was man of the match or not. That's
how good he was last week. This time he's starting.
Speaker 7 (06:07):
Yeah, it's wonderful and I'm sure Brian Schmetzer loves it
because he loves to have competition. Kent comes in, gets
two assists and he really picked players out. It wasn't
just a cross into space the way to the past,
the location of the past meaning to the correct foot.
I really set a couple of guys up really well.
So and this is as a coach you kind of
(06:29):
look at it and say, well, look what he did.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
We got to put him in.
Speaker 7 (06:32):
Now it's a unique situation, right he push his Paull
to the right hand side, so he's got this with
these two wingers, and then you throw in Pedro de
la Vega as well. I mean, he's got a lot
of options on the flanks.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
And that's the interesting part, Diego, is the fact that
it is Paul Rothak who's been left side, left side,
left side for.
Speaker 10 (06:50):
As long as we know him.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
I mean a couple of times he played on the right,
but left sided player switching.
Speaker 11 (06:55):
Over to the right.
Speaker 10 (06:55):
That's an interesting dynamic of this whole thing.
Speaker 9 (06:57):
Yeah, it's really interesting and I think it's a good
bet from Schmetzer because knows the potential of kent Bas
based on what he showed last game.
Speaker 8 (07:06):
And also true point. I love that you have.
Speaker 9 (07:09):
I mean, obviously, you know you would see in a
normal scenario Pederally Lavega starting, but you have it in
the bench, and I think if things are not going
the wayge Metzer wants, then on top, especially then you
have a really good player with a lot of quality
that's put a lot of big coming in writing case
things don't work. But I love especially how Schmetzer works
(07:32):
and how he gives the opportunity to players who have
really good games in the past and they have another shot.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
Really really quick peep before you jump in for anybody
asking right now, wait, why the heck isn't Pedro starting
three matches over the next eight days for the club
Wednesday at LAFC, next Saturday at Portland. So because of
the fixture congestion, you know, it's the sort of thing
where we want to make sure Pedro dale Vega doesn't,
you know, maybe not start all three matches. Let's rotate
(07:58):
a little bit, Let's get you know Kenjon Rothrock in there,
so anybody freaking out, no reason to freak out, no
injury out, There's no reason that that Pedro's on the
bench for a knock or anything.
Speaker 10 (08:09):
It's just a fix your congestion and squad rotation.
Speaker 7 (08:11):
Pete gohead well, and as Diego said, what a luxury
right to have those three And you could throw colony
into that one, or you could even move Alex rolled on.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
They've got options on the wing.
Speaker 7 (08:19):
So the thing I do like about it is that
Paul Rothrock his preferred foot would be his right foot,
so he likes cutting in when he's on the left. Now,
the way Ryan Kent serves a ball, he can get
on the end of those crosses right. His last Paul's
last goal was a ball that hey SEUs Fera played
him a great bully to one touch and bang it
was in the back of the net. He can get
(08:41):
if he can get on the end of Ryan Kent crosses.
And we expect a lot of those today. And you know,
to your point about if I'm a winger and I've
been in this situation a long time ago where if
you're not getting your crosses, and you know that coach
s Metzer has somebody he can say, okay, we can
take you off because and then the one coming on
in this case, Peter del also knows, hey, I got
(09:01):
to go get my mark. So it's really in a
good spot. And as you say, with three games this week,
it makes perfect sense.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
By the way, speaking of you, saying like I've been
in that position a long time ago. You showed us
about twenty minutes ago a photo of you on the
Seattle Storm.
Speaker 7 (09:16):
What year was that, nineteen eighty eight. Someone just texted
to it was in their garage.
Speaker 10 (09:20):
I think we need to send that on social media.
That's amazing, that's incredible.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
You guys couldn't figure out who I was.
Speaker 10 (09:28):
Seven age.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Today, let's talk about Danny Mozoski, Guys, Danny Missoski currently
four goals in as many games. He currently right now
is on the potential streak to hit five in five
consecutive games, where he would join only Obah, Emmy Martin's,
roaldri Diez and Freddie Montero as the only then four
players in club history to score five and five consecutive games. Oh,
(09:52):
we were talking to Brian Spencer earlier today, and you
know I asked him straight up, you know, would you
bet that Danny Mozoski makes it five and five? And
Brian said, I wouldn't bet against it. And I mean, like, listen,
this dude, diego. He just keeps finding the back of
the net in different ways. Last week it was from
new a turn a fire, you know, just a rocket.
(10:12):
He's just you know, they're different goals, they're interesting, but
at the same time, he just keeps getting it done.
Speaker 10 (10:18):
It's undeniable.
Speaker 9 (10:19):
Yeah, It's one of those special things about forwards, right
and having when you have the right momentum, just the
quality and in good shape, you have to keep that
trust right and in that sense, and me schmetzterz No said,
obviously with the situation happening, you don't have more is
you know, available, But I think Musovski and we were
asking before at the beginning of the season, what where's Musovski? Well,
(10:40):
he's here now scoring goals. I'm ready to score his
safe goal in a row in a game.
Speaker 7 (10:44):
I like what he did in the last game. Danny
had three chances too in the first half. He had
his third one in the second half. Coach Metzer kept
him on because he felt like he was hot. That's
good coaching. And then he got the goal on his
fourth really good chance. He gets himself to the near post.
That's the coaches are preaching that over and over again.
There's gold in there. And if you look at some
of the goals, they've been balls that have been bouncing
(11:06):
around and he gets a toe to it. He's he's
a poacher in a good way. And if he can
get five goals to have his name the kid from
UNLV in that list.
Speaker 10 (11:16):
That's a funny part right exactly because the list.
Speaker 6 (11:18):
I don't think he would have bet on that.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
If he scores tonight, the list will be obrahemy Martin's
Rolodia is Freddy Montero Danos and no.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Clint Dempsey and and no Jordan Morris and no Jordan Morris.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
Yeah shit, I mean crazy. But here we are. We'll
see if Danny can do it again. We'll take a
break here on the pre map show as we are
just under a half hour away from kickoff down at
Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas. Today's countdown to kickoff
is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of
the Northwest. We'll come back, and we'll talk about the
Houston Dynamo, a team that the Sounders have already faced
(11:51):
so far this year.
Speaker 10 (11:52):
Head coach.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
We see on the monitor here Brian Schpinzer chatting up
Benny Olsen right now, and guy Brian's been speaking so
much as we think about how much he likes Olsen.
So we'll talk about the Houston Dynamo, who the Sounders
ousted from the playoffs last year, and we'll give our
Sounders players to watch. That's all coming up, plus keys
to the match. Plus the Sounders have a new forward
on their team. A lot to get to here on

the pre match show on Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJRFM.

Now back to Seattle Sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Welcome back to the Providence, Swedish premat show. Sounder is
down in Houston, Texas to face the Dynamo. We went
over Seattle's lineup. Now let's spend some time talking about
this Houston team two five and four, second to last
in the Western Conference with ten points right now, their
ten goals scored to seven less than Seattle, thirteen goals conceded.
Speaker 10 (15:40):
As three more than Seattle.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
As I mentioned last segment, we just saw them a
couple months ago on March twenty second.
Speaker 10 (15:46):
They lost to.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
Portland, then beat LAFC, two draws against the Galaxy and Rapids,
they beat Austin and then last weekend they lost to LAFC.
Speaker 10 (15:56):
Back and forth results.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
There also should mention by the way that they play
on Wednesday in the Open Cup they had a four
to one win over Phoenix Rising where they kind of
partially rotated their lineup, So in terms of what they're
starting tonight, yeah, it's still working off that partial rotation
from Wednesday. But you know, guys, Pete Fewing Didego Ardio
at Jackson Feltz here for the pre match show, we
were just talking in the break about being in Houston
(16:20):
last year, last November for the playoffs where the Sounders
went and beat the Houston Dynamo in the playoffs to
move ahead in penalty kicks.
Speaker 10 (16:28):
And in November it was so hot and humid.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
And this is you know, May tenth, so you can
only imagine the humidity in the weather right now. But
that's a place that we've all been there and Diego,
I know you've called matches there. It can be sometimes
be quite a sweltering place to play.
Speaker 8 (16:46):
Yeah, it's a stadium that it's like a cauldron.
Speaker 9 (16:49):
Yeah, I would say it gets there's no air or
when that goes and especially to probably like in May,
it's already hot there and it's really humid, muggy, and
it's heavy for the legs for the players, right and
so it's going to be to be crucial in that
sense that the first you know, the setting, the tone
and the pace of the game always the Houston We
know when they play at home they want to be
(17:10):
fast paced and they try to do that with Ben Olsen.
But yeah, I think that's always always one of the
conditions to consider that in that pitch.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Ryan Kent is going to get a quick welcome to
Houston because that he'll have probably the biggest adjustment because
he's just not been in that climate forever. You know,
when you're playing in these environments, you have to get
the hot air inside of you. I would always tell
that to our players, and the only way you can
do that is by making a few runs. You got
(17:39):
to start sweat and you got to get that warm
air in your lungs and you have to kind of
break through it. Once you break through it, it's not terrible.
But I this isn't bad. This the humidity won't be bad.
The warmth will be there by kickoff, it'll be a
little cooler, but it won't be terrible. But I've I've
set in a locker room and spelled my name with
sweat coming off my nose on the concrete. I was
(18:00):
able to write, Pete totally focused apparently on happy Fernandez
halftime talk. I'm sure, but I don't think it's going
to be terrible. It's not like the summertime. But I
think Ryan Kent will be fun to see how he
handles it because it is.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
It's a difference on.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
The field though, Houston this is quite a different team
from what we were down there watching last year. They're
also quite a different team from what we saw them
two months ago. Obviously, we know that they've let go
of a couple really important people there, the center back
and then also Coco Karaskia they sold to Pumas for
three point five million.
Speaker 10 (18:34):
They've replenished it.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Though we talked, you know, last time two months ago
about Jack McGlenn.
Speaker 10 (18:39):
They didn't have him.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
He was on international duty with the United States for
that March twenty second game. He's back with Houston now.
They also have a new player that they signed. It's
twenty six year old Czech attacking midfielder Andre Linger. He
spent much of the last years playing with Slavia Prague
in Chechia and now he is with Hugh Houston and
(19:00):
he's done pretty well. He's made quite the instant impact
scoring two goals in three games. They obviously have Ezekiel Ponse,
they're nine million dollar man from Athens McGlynn. This is
a team that has kind of, you know, big changes
from six months ago Diego. They revitalized their attack, trying
to restart things. Middling results, very inconsistent, but the pieces
(19:21):
are there where if they play on the front foot,
they can score, they can score at home, and I
think these is dangerous pieces that Seattle has to worry about, definitely.
Speaker 9 (19:31):
And you hit on the right word inconsistency, right, because
he's a team that has all the pieces to your point,
new players coming in, but still they haven't clicked yet, right,
And it's it's a team that's rebuilding from last year.
And you mentioned Owzy karas ki Yah even Ector Areta
used to be last season, right, So it's it's a
team that lost a lot of the firepower and now
(19:52):
they're trying to get back to it. But hey, again
it's inconsistent, right. So you can get a Houston that
could be really dangerous tonight, or you can get a
Houston that you know is going to allow Sounders with
the momentum to a Sounders to you know, get in
the right foot and score early. So it's gonna be
It's one of those teams that you don't know what
to expect.
Speaker 7 (20:12):
Now you know they got three forwards up front, right,
so that's gonna be a handful. I do think that
the partnership of Kim kihe and Gomez Andrade has been
pretty darn seamless right and throwing Alex and knew who together.
That's a it's a good group. But now you're you're
dealing with a handful. And Linger does stretch the field
a little bit more. Dorsey coming out of the back.
I like him left back. Four assists, he can ping
(20:35):
a ball, he can play guys in and can get
himself forward as well.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
So it is a it is a tea.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
I like what Diego said. They can be very good
or they can struggle. And let's hope we get the
team that struggles a little bit tonight.
Speaker 10 (20:47):
Yeah, for sure. Jonathan Bond and Gold.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
They really weird keeper situation because they've been dealing so
many injuries. Andrew Tarbo one of their keepers, he's been
out with a knee injury. Tarbo had four starts, Jimmy
Mauer had won, he got injured too young. Blake Gillingham
had three starts filling in and then they brought in
Jonathan Bond, and English keeper formerly of the LA Galaxy
and also Watford last year. He's now getting his fourth
(21:12):
start today. I mean, you talk about consistency with keepers
the way I counted one, two, three, four keepers so
far and this is only their twelfth game of the year.
That's an interesting situation when we talk about consistency and defense.
They are not even getting it from their goalkeeper right now.
That's a tough situation. We'll see if Seattle can hit
them on the offensive end. Let's get one more break here,
(21:33):
Let's come back and we'll get our Sounders players to watch.
We'll also hear from Craig Wible, Sounders general manager about
the new forward on the first team. In case you
missed it, the Sounders have the leading goal scorer in
MLS next Pro now on their first team and on
the bench tonight. We'll tell you about that next on
the premat show as we count you down to kickoff
(21:54):
just under twenty minutes away right here on Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJRFM.

Now back to Seattle Sounders. Sucker on Sports Radio ninety

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Fifteen minutes away from Sounders versus Houston Dynamo down Shell
Energy Stadium.
Speaker 10 (25:06):
We'll give you all our players to watch in just
a moment.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
But the Sounders have a new player on their first team,
Osase de Rosario, the son of Dwayne de Rosario, who
was on the field when Stephen Fry made his debut.
Funny enough in Major League Soccer with Toronto FC, and
here is Osase now signing to the first team. He
leads MLS Next Pro in goals with eight in five games. Yes,
(25:31):
you heard that right, eight in five games. He scored
in the Open Cup. I'm just gonna say this stolen
Open Cup game on Tuesday between Tacoma and Portland. But
just yesterday, Craig Wibol met with US media out at
Long Acres and had some thoughts. So here was my
interaction with Craig Wibole talking about the newest Seattle Sounder forward,
Osase de Rosario.
Speaker 10 (25:51):
Craig, here's the day Sase de Rosario first team contract.
Take us through the timeline of that getting him to
that deal.
Speaker 24 (25:58):
Well, we nearly had done last week, but obviously timeline
was just over a year bringing him in and kind
of teaching him, continuation of teaching him how to be
a pro day in day out.
Speaker 11 (26:11):
He's learned those.
Speaker 24 (26:12):
Habits, he's adapted well, and reward to our staff that's
done a great job teaching him, but also to him
for putting the work in. You know, the contract itself
was pretty straightforward. It was, hey, this is another opportunity,
another step, but let's make no mistake about it. You're
going to play some first teen minutes, but anything less
than twenty goals for the Defiance as a failure this year,
(26:33):
and so you know, there's still pressure on him to
perform at multiple levels, and.
Speaker 10 (26:37):
That's Craig Wibol.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Sase A Rosario could be an interesting piece moving forward
to watch for the Seattle Sounders. But as we continue
the pre match show and look continually ahead at Sounders
Houston tonight, let's get into our players to watch tonight.
Speaker 10 (26:50):
Pete, I'll start with you. Who's your player to watch
for Seattle tonight.
Speaker 7 (26:53):
I'm going to go Ryan Kent. He's gotten a great opportunity.
It's his first start. He had a really terrific thirty
three plus minutes in the first one, and we'll see
how he does with a little warmer climate, but in
the starting role. And he's an experienced player and coach
Smetzer said this morning that he was just so happy.
Speaker 6 (27:10):
To be playing.
Speaker 7 (27:10):
He hasn't been playing for two years, so I expect
a lot of joy from him. I expect him to
get crosses in that Paul Rothrock's gonna get. On the
other end, that Danny Missovski is going to get to
the near post. I expect a lot of quality out
of him tonight.
Speaker 9 (27:21):
Diego, I'm gonna go. You just mentioned it, Pete. Danny
Missovski the player who's on fire looking for his fifth
goal in a row, and especially we tucked up beforewards.
I need to tell about momentum and he needs to
take advantage of this momentum now, especially against Houston daimonk.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
We mentioned it before and it's worth saying again. If
he scores tonight, it'll be five and five games. He
will join the group of open Phemy Martin's, Rollery Diez
and Freddie Montero is the only four players score five
and five games. What a group that would be for
Danny Mazowski to join. If he scores tonight, I'm going
new Who, guys, Listen, he scored in the Saint Louis game,
(27:57):
and that's amazing and that's fun and everybody loves it.
But at the same time, the Sounders were up three
to one at that point and feeling themselves and getting
up the field, and obviously because of the way Saint
Louis plays, he was able to get up the field.
This is a different monster and it's a very very
different Houston team, and it's also on the road. I
would just say to new Who, obviously we love you
(28:18):
in the attack. It's a lot of fun, but we
gotta stay disciplined. We've seen him get up the field
from his left back spot and get too high and
you know, leave the defense maybe sometimes out to dry. Tonight,
with the weapons that Houston has, they got Linger the
new winger, I want to see new make sure to
play disciplined because if he can do that and has
a good defensive game, I think we could be looking
at a clean sheet for the Sounders tonight. So I
(28:40):
want to see discipline from him, but good thoughts all around.
We'll take a break here one more segments, will of
course take a look at our keys to the match
and the history against Houston. Before we get there, I'll

Just about seven minutes away from kickoff, Sounders down at
Houston to face the Dynamo. All time, Seattle is sixteen
to five and eight against Houston in the regular season.
As we mentioned, the Hugh teams played just two months
ago and was kind of frustrating zero zero game at
Loomin Field last time when Sounders were down in Houston.
Speaker 10 (32:29):
We talked about that earlier.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Was the playoffs last year down last November where we
went through in penalty kicks, Stephen Fry came up huge,
we didn't miss a single kick and we went through
to the next round where we had a pretty fun time,
then beating LAFC in the Western Conference semifinal. So hopefully
Sounders can get a positive result again here tonight. Like
last November, Let's get into some keys to the match
(32:51):
before we go. Pete'll start with you. What are your
keys for Seattle tonight against Houston?
Speaker 6 (32:54):
To me, it's about the partnerships.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
Kim keihe Gomas Androte, Alex rolled On and Paul Rothrock
on the right, Knew Who and Kent on the left,
Massovski and Albert Rusnik underneath, Obed and Christian standing next
to each other. Everybody's got to be linked up today.
The wingers have to do their job. No crosses, no shots,
no goals. Danny Massovsky's got to get to the near post.
(33:18):
They got to that kid Dorsey out of the back.
Don't let him get his service in from the left right.
So defensively, we've got to start out well. But if
we're clicking in all those pairs, I think we're gonna
have another fun night. Let's hope we can replicate. Brian
Schmetzer put that in everybody's mind. Let's replicate the Saint
Louis game with those kind of goals.
Speaker 9 (33:36):
I love what you as mentioned, Peter, the partnerships, and
I fully agree. I like to see us Sounders starting
with the right foot from the get go right, and
we talked to Schmetzer about how the conserving the energy,
but also against a team that's struggling, you have to
start with the right foot and start dominating. I want
to see also talking about partnership in the midfield, especially
you have youth and experience with Christian and Ovid and
(33:58):
Albert Rusnak So those three in the middle that they
can start getting the ball and also setting the pace
for the game. I'm obviously in the back being organized,
especially with a Houston danild is going to try to
attack for mail at one.

Speaker 11 (37:34):
Good evening from an unusually comfortable Shell Energy Stadium here
in Houston, Texas for this second matchup of the season
between your Sounders and the Houston Dynamo. Houston have enjoyed
meaningful success with head coach Ben Olsen over the past
few seasons with a US Open Cup win and strong
showings in MLS play. While they celebrate their championship teams
(37:56):
from the mid two thousands this evening, the Houston fans
will be looking at their new additions to pull them
back to the top of MLS. For Your Sounders, they
produced a dominant performance against a rigid Saint Louis team
last week. After going down in the first half, they
responded well with four goals, capped off by a goal
from the enigmatic knew Who. With Masovsky brimming with confidence
(38:19):
after his fourth goal in the last four games and
Ryan Kent delivering with a two assist performance, the Sounders
are seeking to start a very tough three game road
trip over the next week with three points. Tonight, I'm
Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders winger Steve zac Quani here
in the booth. Before we get to Steve's comments, let's
get you the Delta starting eleven for your Sounders, And
(38:41):
as Jackson, Diego and Pete said, just a changer too
for Brian Schmetze, Sepan fryin gol A four to two,
three to one for Brian. Tonight, Alex rolled on on
the right ye Mark kimkih and then knew Who on
the left Christian alongside Obed middle of the park, Paul
Rothrock shifts from left to the right hand side to
make way four Ryan Kent for his first start as
(39:02):
a sounder, coming off as you mentioned, a two assist
performance last week and he got Team of the Match day.
And then Albert Rosneck is the ten Danny Mussovski four
gold man the last four games plays up front for
Ben Olsen and his Houston Dynamo team. Jonathan Bond in goal,
coming back from Watford recently to re sign in MLS.
He starts in goal. A back four of steris o
(39:24):
Odessu Bartlow, who's the former udub product Woodinville, Washington native.
He'll start in center back, and then Griffin Dorsey on
that left hand side. The midfield three of rains are
Tour and McGlynn and an attacking trio of Linger, Barsi
and then Ponce upfront so Steve. As the teams get
ready to go in a what's usually a pretty hot,
(39:47):
sticky environments, a little cooler tonight than the weather in
the nineties comes next week. But what does Brian Schmidz
have to do to start this tough three game road
trip with a win.
Speaker 25 (39:55):
I think of the free games, this is probably the
most winnable one you look on paper, at least, I
think it's a Sounder team that goal to tr and
win every game. But the way the team's playing, and
I think, you know you have LFC short turn around
in midweek and then Portland next week, and that's always
a tough one can go either way. I think this
is one where you go on the road and an
MS is so tough to went away from home. But
looking at this one, there is no reason whatsoever that
(40:15):
this sound As team shouldn't feel confident with the form
there in especially to go into Houston and pick up
three points.
Speaker 11 (40:22):
Well, Victor Reevas referee tonight in the middle of the park,
we'll get us going in just a moment or so,
we'll get the fourth referee is a referee as Lewis
Diego Aureja, and then the var tonight is Jorge Gonzales,
so hopefully we'd have to have too much involvement from
the fourth official and the vaar tonight. A couple of
questionable decisions over the last couple of weeks for Brian
(40:44):
Schmetze and the refereeing circles. One was a potential red
card just a couple of weeks ago early in that
second half of that were given Brian Schmitz and his men.
It's seeming advantage man up in that forty five minutes
of the second half. And then last week it was
a questionable handball that certainly, as Jackson Felts has spoken
about in all week, I would say questionable decision went
(41:06):
to the board, went to VR. Nothing given and I
think everybody who did see the replay apart from the referee,
saw it as a clear referee and I think actually
the refereeing contingent came out with a statement said that
was a mistake this week.
Speaker 25 (41:20):
Yeah, I think everyone who said that was right. We
saw it in real time. Of course you had the
aid of a replay, but I think you've got to
VRF for that. One definitely won miss. But all you
can do is move on.
Speaker 11 (41:30):
Referee gets us going. Here goes Houston long ball forward.
Houston in their orange shirts, white shorts and orange socks
attacking the goal to our left. Brian Schmitz's men in
their Sailor's Sea kit. Their new kit for this year,
kind of a navy blue dark green combination with strikes
of turquoise blue. They're going to be attacking the goal
(41:52):
to our right or go short to Barsi, who's been
real stalwart form Houston the last couple of seasons, always
top with the packed four goals and assists, is going
to be helped somewhat by the likes of Plonce, who's
been in last year, has done well, continues to put
some goals on the board. And then of course newman
Linger who looks like a threat Steve in the first
(42:14):
few weeks two goals in his first two games for
Houston looks a threat over the top, which shall balance
out bar Sie and PONSI.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 25 (42:21):
I look at a good addition, and I think overall
this Houston team, I think the same way it sounds,
feel that they can win and should win this game.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
You still feel the same way.
Speaker 25 (42:28):
Don't think we're at home, we're in need of a
win because we're kind of the wrong side of the
table right now. I think we should see a wide
open game. I think the sound has got to be
careful to not be too open too soon. But I
think it's a Houston team out maybe will try to
look a bit more how they looked last year when
they really tried to dominate possession. Get a ball out
wide and attacking nors white space as.
Speaker 11 (42:45):
The field surfers looks immaculate tonight, so no excuses for
a bad touch, So let's see if the Sounders can
take advantage. The ball get shifted farst side the right
to Dorsey, who has played left and right hand side tonight.
He plays on that right back spot forces on his
season so far from a defensive role, so good return
for Dorsey. The ball gets hooked long by the Sounders,
(43:09):
picked up and cleaned up by you mensioned Woodenville, Washington
native Nathan Bartlowe. He's got a hell of a right foot,
so Sounder's backline, i'd be careful as he picks up
the balls he does just outside his eighteen yard boxs
now closed down by Ryan Kennets, who mentioned two assists
last week coming off the bench and the amount of
stoppage time. As Brian Schmidzer mentioned to us, he was
(43:30):
close to a forty minute performance last week, so he's
got it. Getting his legs underneath him. Hasn't really played
too much in the last couple of years, but steve
some of the highlight reels of him at both Glasgow Rangers,
especially as time they got Young Player of the Year
for the Scottish Premiership. You waitfer Cup Team of the
season as well. After the Rangers in the early twenty
(43:52):
twenty has got a good run going there. But he's
going to be a hell of a player once he
gets in full fitness.
Speaker 25 (43:57):
Yeah, and with each passing there you can see why
he's had those highlights accolades. I thought last week he
came on was absolutely fantastic. It can be tough to
change the game as a wing at times when you
come into a game, but he came on, got a
two assists, but he was just buzzing all over the pitch.
And I think with the three games this week, it's
the right time to kind of throw him in there.
I think should we expect all finish the game. I
think it suits him, Schmeetzel told me, and I think
(44:17):
technically is very sound. You can tell he's been in
an academy environment. He's been in a pro environment, which
is getting up to speed learning how we play the
sort of things we want Specifically on this team, but
seems to be a faster learner. I think as this
summer goals and the games come thick and fast, he'll
add a lot to this team in attacking Sensee.
Speaker 11 (44:34):
And Fry all his features outside of six drives a
ball to this near side of the right good ball
up the chest of Rothrock not four by Roll Damber
assessing the referee from this near side puts per flag up.
Houston throw right in front of the two benches. Sep
and Fry. Mate mentioned four hundred all comp appearance last
week for Sefron Fry against Saint Louis, and then with
(44:57):
that when that four to one when Brian schmittze one
hundred and thirty wins to tie him for tenth all
time in MLS. So he breaks into the top ten.
And he asked Brian today in his production call, I
think Pete Fewing asked him and he said, yeah, I'm
pretty pretty satisfied being in that top ten. I think
his mother would be satisfied as well. I think what's
what his comment was. So, you know, Brian doesn't often
(45:19):
talk about himself, Steve, but what an impact he's had
as a head coach. Yes, but throughout the decades of
service he's given to the soccer community here in Seattle.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Yeah, it's one of the great servants of this club.
And since taking the range.
Speaker 11 (45:32):
They'll pick it up in a second. Here comes, here's
some good save by sef and Fry had to gobble
it up on the second attempt. It was a giveaway
by the Sounders. Houston picked up with ponse and he
was then driven low into the chest of Fry by
McGlynn from just outside the eighteen yard box. Cleaned up
by the Sounders.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
No, no, and we should expect to see that, especially
early on.
Speaker 25 (45:53):
I think this animal team's gonna really give it a goal,
try to find that early goal, get their noses in front.
They don't want to play from behind. They want to
give the fans you've come out to see them something
to cheer about. Just going back to Schmid's day, I
think what he's done really well. He's olways seen a
lot of change at this club. We've lost some really
big players over the years, and he seems to always
reinvent the team, tweet the starts a little bit, and
the one thing that's constant is he gets results almost
(46:14):
no matter who's out there.
Speaker 11 (46:16):
Well, I've lost the likes of Steve zach Quarney. Of
course he was okay, Yeah, it was not a bad
player that to rejig the entire team to figure that
one out. He did alongside Zigie Schmid needed two of
those soccer brains to figure that one out. It comes
Huston now, bundled over by Rathrocker goes down a little awkward.
(46:36):
He's holding the arm and sometimes those innocuous challenges can
be the most painful. He fell on his although his
right shoulder holding it slow to get up. There's going
to be a foul on wrathrock On bars who felt
the pressure. That's something that Dela Vega does so well
as well. It feels the pressure behind, holds it up
and then goes down and wins that free kick.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Yeah, and it's in a dangerous area.
Speaker 25 (46:56):
I think it gives us anymore team a chance to
get the ball into the box, to get their players
right on top of Stephan Fry and it's going to
be maybe the kind of game that does come down
to just a bit of quality on set pieces on
either side, attacking and defending.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
And the Dynamo were the first chance here to get
the ball into the box.
Speaker 11 (47:11):
It's going to be Jat mcgern, former Philadelphia Union man,
who's going to have the free kick just right of center,
forty yards or so from Stephen Fry's goal, so a
little far out to take the shot with his cultured
left foot, he'll try and clip it in. It felt
like he made his move from Philadelphi we had had
so much success, broke into the US men's national team.
It was one of the first cash transfers inside MLS
(47:33):
that was allowed starting this year. He's going to be
on this free kick Sounders defending just inside the eighteen
yard box and it goes left foot towards the back,
sick headed down and then hooked away. I think it
was Yamo, and I actually knew who he was, just
off the toe of Griffin Dorsey who was hanging around
(47:54):
in that six yard box over the top. It goes
it's going to be a corner kick for Houston.
Speaker 2 (47:59):
But it was so much happening on that one day.
Speaker 25 (48:01):
I think there was two or three little bite side
of Cherry from Houston and knew who and Dorsey having
a little laughter and knew who was pricked on the
board it's a decent delivery. Sits right on top of
the six yard box there and yet knew Who just
beats Dorsey to it. If he doesn't get in a
split second, that's in the back of the netflied animal.
Speaker 11 (48:16):
It's going to be a corner kick from this near
side the Houston left with McGlenn and his left foot
outswinger and it comes corner to six headed cleared by
the Sounders, picked up by Rains as he clips it in.
It bounces just on the six yard line and bounce
into the arms of Stephan Fry quickly throws it out
to the far side the left, picked up by new
(48:36):
goalscorer last week, of course, first goal of his campaign.
Man did he celebrate the way you'd expect new Who
to celebrate. Now that's about I think we've talked about
it today in the production meeting. Now that it's about
raining in new Who's going to get a level of
confidence to push up the field. And you gotta think Steve,
I mean, you know, he continues to be such a
solid defender, one of the best in MLS, but he's
(48:58):
definitely added over the course of the season, is added
that level on that left hand side is deliveries getting better.
There was a ball last week where he clicked it
from into the backstick. There was maybe a couple of
years ago it had gone slow to the front stick
and cleared away.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Yeah, I think that's spot.
Speaker 25 (49:12):
And I think what he's developed in his game he's
added to it is when he gets into the final third.
Now there's more often than not a bit of quantity
to his final board. And I think in the early
years of new who Who's getting into the final third
eight nine times a half at times and never knew
what you're gonna get. Now it was maybe two or
three times. But it's with quality, and sometimes you'll take
that quality over the quantity. I do think at times
the sounders in the past copies have asked him to
(49:34):
be more of a defender, enough to get into the
tack too often. But on the left hand side at times,
if you can pick and choose his moments too overlap
at the right moment, I think you can definitely get
a lot of success down the left hand side.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
Who knew who and Ken Well.
Speaker 11 (49:45):
Certainly Ken comes off that left hand side just like
roth Rod does, maybe drops his left shoal comes in
on his right foot allows new maybe too the overlapping run,
so the space might be there for new Who. Of
course Dorsey gets up and down that right hand side,
so there might be a space for Ken and new
Who to take advantage of. Because Roldan has it almost
like a sweeper right now, standing between kim Key, He
(50:06):
who has opened himself up on the left hand side
thing Alex as he's probably done for many years in
the backyard, clips it to his brother Alex that's near
side the right give it away by the Sounders. Again,
done a couple of times in these first ten minutes
or so, and of course, as you'd expect, Christian Roldan
has done that impeccably already this season. Steps in, wins
the ball in the middle of the park, quick little
(50:26):
step over and there is a quick feet by Ryan
Kent ask him for the foul. Referee gives nothing and
that's another very dubious refereeing decision. It will step over
by Kent wriggled free and it looked an obvious foul
from advantage point Steve, but referee plays it on he
used to have the ball.
Speaker 25 (50:43):
Yeah, it's one of those ones where Kent was almost
didn't even appeal it because he thought he was such
a foregone conclusion and you wait two three seconds, No,
we're some one. Then you realize what he's not giving
a chord and you won't get back in position. One
thing we've seen early on here is any time the
sound who's used the ball, especially in these two thirds,
the first two thirds, Houston are trying to go right
at them. So the transition defending has to be on
point today because the Dynamo they're not trying to set
(51:05):
on the ball, put the foot on the board.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
They're trying to attack right away.
Speaker 25 (51:09):
As we see a foul and a first shadow card
in the game, as Christian will done, I think this
SHOs down, He'll be okay here.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
I think just a step on top of his foot there.
But the Dynamo first went to the book.
Speaker 11 (51:17):
Yeah, Brooklyn Rains gets the first yellow card as the
referees has a quick chat with our tour the captain.
Another implementation from MLS and really across the world where
captains are the ones to speak to referees. Where's BARSI
lost the ball and then he's just almost an awkward
collision between Rains and rolled on but painful one for
(51:39):
Christian as he pops back onto his feet. Don't want
to lose Christian. They're playing alongside Obed and we talked
to Brian Schmitzer today, Steve, and we asked the question
around how the maturity of the partnership between Christian and
Obed is working. It seems now that Obed is giving
license to move further forward, and of course Christian is
(52:00):
playing that role so well right in front of the
back four, holding his position a little bit deeper and
longer than he has done in years past.
Speaker 25 (52:06):
Yeah, I think they're coming to a very good understanding.
At times does switch off on that, but it definitely
seems like eighty to twenty percent where it's Albed who
has a freedom to roam a bit more. He's got
a younger leg they can get around, and a Christian
source of sits and anchors and always seems to be
in the right position defensively forever this team needs. And
I do feel for the Sounders they are their very
best when those two and Albert Rusnick grinding in front
of them, are dictating the tempo of the game. When
(52:27):
they're getting on the board, they're winning that midfield battle.
We haven't seen too much of Albert Rusnike early on
here opening eleven, twelve minutes. But the more you can
get on the ball, the more you get old Bed
Christian on the board, it just freeze everyone else up
and the Sounders really win the battle in that engine room.
We normally see this team, especially in this run of
late getting good results. It's become because those three or
the two of the three at least out.
Speaker 11 (52:47):
At the top of the game twelve minute here in Houston,
Shell Energy Stadium, Sports Radio ninety three point three k
FN Sounders on the road in Houston play at Dynamo
Neil Nils so far the ball gets clipped down the line.
Here it comes Ryan Kent. Can he riggle free of
Dorty Dorsey comes back little step over by Ryan as
he has the ball left corner of the box. Now
(53:08):
drags the ball towards the end like clips to the backstick,
strike by roll down and it slices off his right foot.
Ryan Kent did what you'd expect him to do. The
quality everybody moved to that front post. He clicked to
the backstick. Alex wasn't able to hit the target goes
over the end line goal kick remains Neil.
Speaker 25 (53:24):
Neil or it's a brilliant, brilliant pass by Albert Vargas.
The chance seems to have been lost, and then Ryan
can absolutely just destroys Dorsy here couple of fence, there's
a step over and does the right thing. When you're
that close inside the box, you clip it to the
back post. And I don't mind Alex going for the spectacular.
I do think he had more time. I think he
actually you can bring that down and maybe do that
in two touches. I think you had a bit more
time than he thought, Alex. Then if he brings that
(53:45):
down then you have a real chance to get it
on target. Listen, if you pull that off in a spectacular,
no complaints. But he had more time, you have to say.
Speaker 11 (53:52):
A player like Alex Rodan, he's a player you'd want
in that position as well. He has the technique to
do that if he was able to. But you're right,
maybe a bit more time to hit the ball down.
As this time Ryan Ken does win the foul referee
just ten yards or so away, runs forward, Barlow makes
the tackle. Sounders win the free kick in their attacking
half of the field. Just left of center, the Sounders
(54:15):
start to find their feet. Fifty four percent possession so
far in the game. For Houston, they've last year they
were at the top of the charts for MLS, close
to sixty percent possession on the season last year. This
year it's been more of a struggle to keep the ball.
Of course, we mentioned likes of Kereski and Hector Herrera
who have left the club last off season. So two enigmatic,
(54:40):
powerful personalities on and off the field, and they start
to rebuild now. As a sound has played short to
Alex World Armisin's a couple of times he flicks the
ball towards yea On wide open headed across Staus Clear's
at top of the box. System referees flag on this
near side goes up. Well, work free kick for the Sounders.
It went square from Russ to rolled on there's about
(55:02):
forty yards from Gold. Then just clipped it towards the
back stick. But Yama, if you look at the replay
right now, Steve, he just hinched offside. A good play
by the Sounders.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
It's good. That's straight from the training ground there.
Speaker 25 (55:11):
Sometimes you just want to switch up and change the
angle gives the opposition a different look by Yamar. Just
went a little too soon by the last five minutes.
Good from the Sounders coach. Stuff will be happy. It
seems to have settled now and it's a bit more
balanced in possession. We're not seeing the Houston dynamal get
out in transition as much as they were early on.
If you're the Sounder, you want to keep this going
and then start to slowly win a territorial battle and
begin to generate chances and go.
Speaker 11 (55:33):
Sounders have had Houston's number in regular season, certainly since
twenty seventeen thirteen one and one by the Sounders. He
just never got a winning result at lumin Field. But
as was mentioned in pregame, Houston is no easy place
to play. The thick air, the humidity, swamp like conditions,
(55:53):
sounds are just about going to hit Houston at the
right time. It's in the mid seventies here at kickoff.
You mentioned the heat comes next week. Is the tempts
at approaching one hundred degrees and you're at the humidity
that is a factor all summer long. It is not
an easy place to play. Houston usually do have a
really strong home record. The Sounders have done well here.
(56:17):
It seems that humidity Steve may play a little bit
better than elevations. We've seen how difficult RSL is for example.
Speaker 25 (56:24):
Yeah, I mean, I don't like the heat that you
get in Houston sometimes, but I would take that ten
times out of ten over going to Utah or Colorado.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
Those are very, very tough games.
Speaker 25 (56:33):
And I think brad Emisa had so many times when
the schedule come out in preseason one of the first
games you would look at is when are we.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Going to Houston? When are we going to Dallas? So
can be your top place to play. But as you said,
sounds getting lucky.
Speaker 25 (56:44):
It's a good, great conditions for football game today, and
I think the guys, especially the pitch looks really really immacinate.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
It looks great.
Speaker 25 (56:49):
So the setting's there for a good game of football.
Both teams so far showing that they're going to play
a very open game. I think we're in for a
decent game of football tonight.
Speaker 24 (56:57):
Yep.
Speaker 11 (56:57):
They'll neil back in mid March between these two teams
at lumin Field and it comes to rath Rocks strikes
it deflection, clips up central of the park, it goes
and it was Rossneck who flashed in. It was defended
against Rossneck because the ball left it up. It's gonna
be over the end line. Is gonna be a corner
kick for the Sounders. Good defending by Dorsey, but almost
(57:18):
a chance for a deflection for Albert Roussick and the Sounders.
Speaker 25 (57:21):
Yeah, it could have gone anywhere. After the deflection there
goes into the box. Dorsey does really well getting across
because Albert Russnip puts right on his tail, the Sounders
having to settle for a corner kack k but continuing
to play well. The last five six minutes here the
sound is really beginning to gain the advantage, moving the
board while getting the key guys on the board and
then working both sides. It's been rough rock and it's
been Kent both getting on the board and putting dangerous
(57:43):
deliveries into the box.
Speaker 11 (57:44):
Seventeenth minute, nil nil cornerkick for the Sounders. This near
sight there right, there's gonna be a Rossneck o bed's
close by. Now it goes top of the box. Oh
and it was Kent. Well worked again right off the
training field. Andy Rose has been working with this team.
There was a driven ball to the top of the
eighteen yard box along the ground, Ken was able to
find some space, couldn't do anything other than sky it
(58:05):
wide and high. It's gonna be a goal. Kate remains
nil nil. But again off the training field, it almost
worked for the sound of Steve.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
That's really really well worked.
Speaker 25 (58:12):
I think all of us here and probably I find
understanding expect an album Russ and at what's the point
ends to the box? You send the big guys forward.
But another really well work set piece. It's tough, it's
coming to him at speed. You've got to get a
really really good technique there, Ryan Ken. Unfortunately he gets
too much underneath it and it Almo was flying over
the crossbar.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
But the sound is definitely have a few wrinkles in
that set piece approach to it.
Speaker 11 (58:32):
Sounder is in possession just inside their half of the field,
Ken coming back to coming back to collect it. Sound
is looking more confident of Steve zac Granni mentioned these
last five ten minutes so on to get a grip
of the game. Sometimes playing an away team as an
away team just have to kind of absorb that early pressure.
Sounders have done that. Houston really haven't troubled Stephan Fryan
least ten minutes or so, rolled on, has it rolls
(58:57):
across to Ryan Kent, pressured by two players, tries to
go around and pull back, ask him for a free kid.
Referee gives nothing, goes down on the far side for
Houston thrower Ryan ken not getting the rubber the greens
so far from the referee pushing rolled down news his experience.
Just picks up the ball and that's what we tell
young kids sometimes, just pick up a ball. Referee doesn't
know what's going on, just throw it in and I
(59:18):
think we'll keep going.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
I love that from the Christian showing he's experience there,
Ryan Kenner. They're gonna play.
Speaker 25 (59:23):
I think when you first, when you first come to
a league like this, there's no real scout and report
on you. They're starting to get the word down Ryan
kener're paying him very tight as soon as he gets
the ball as someone right on his shoulder, and as
a winger, you will have to adapt to that.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
So now for rank kid, it's going to be not
always receiving the ball to feed.
Speaker 25 (59:37):
Sometimes it's checking, showing to feet and then spinning him
behind and actually getting a ball playteen behind. So he's
communication with new have to be very important because you
do have to switch it up because once they learn
what you like to do balld to feed face you
up dribble, they're gonna start playing you very very tight.
Speaker 11 (59:51):
Pushing the back from one dub player former udub player
to another. Bartlow on roll down Sanders get it going
quickly shifts it from the far side of this nar
given away by Yemark. It's been guilty of it a
little bit, comes back, wins the ball sounded Houston and
Crowder asking for a free kick, nothing given. Sounders have
(01:00:11):
possession in a late challenge our tour in Vargas, and
that was cynical frustration more than anything.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Steve it is and it's it's been a few times
now from a Dynamo. They're gonna play very very tight.
Speaker 25 (01:00:21):
You're not getting any time in space on the ball
when you receive it, and there's no need for that
foul day tour. You'd inspect someone that have to know
a little bit better. All the vogus gonna only go backwards,
which he does and it's about a full second late
there at all, and maybe lucky not to go into
book and they're a free maybe just letting him know, Hey,
the next one, no matter who it is, you're going
to book.
Speaker 11 (01:00:39):
I was listening to Rude Holler. He was on that
podcast with Gary Neville and Roy Keane a couple of
days ago and talked about wingers. The ball goes along
and getting to that the minutes it bounces through all
the way through to Bond. But he's talked about wingers
not picking up the ball anymore, just running at players
and just putting the outside back on their heels, because
like Ryan Kent is a player that will do that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
And I love that.
Speaker 25 (01:00:59):
I can't I don't imagine anything worse for a defender,
wrapt back or left back than a winger's gonna get
the boat and consistently drive a board game. I remember,
that's what made me fall in love with watching I mean,
legendary Ryan Giggs. He would receive the board and he
would go every single time. And I think Ryan Kent has.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
A bit of that in him, and with a lot
of qualityitude to the other things as well.
Speaker 11 (01:01:17):
There comes Houston down this left hand side with Linger.
New Man's come in just a number of weeks ago,
and then from Slavia Prague it comes steris all gets
clipped in by our tour fast Segis Dorsey down towards
goal wide of separated prize left hand posts over the
end line. It's gonna be a goal kick. Sounders here
(01:01:39):
in the twenty first minute at shell Energy stay him
in Houston. It's the Dynamo Neil Sounders nil, Steve Zaccarni.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
It's a very open world Bannis game. I think the
sound is here.
Speaker 25 (01:01:48):
The one thing disappointing is you don't get the numbers
back quickly enough and the Dynamo just take that time
here and in the end Dorsey's header it's not threatening
a gold at all, but if he heads this back across,
he has a couple of runners in there and really
called the course of sounds a lot of issues there.
So you're seeing the animal not afraid to send numbers
into the attack and Dorsey has a great engine on
him because he's popping up what I would a bitch.
Speaker 11 (01:02:07):
It's Houston again, Sounders giving out the ball heavy touched
by McGlynn, taken away by Rolled just turns out a
pressure plays it out to the far side to Ryan Kent,
puts his foot on the ball, slows it down, goes
square to Christian center of the park, clips it forward,
now tries to find the run of Grothrock. Misjudged by Rains,
here comes Rothrock, right corner of the box, towards the endline.
He goes closed down.
Speaker 26 (01:02:28):
Now back again and it's Mussovsky fifth.
Speaker 11 (01:02:32):
Goal in five games.
Speaker 26 (01:02:36):
Can you believe it? Mussovsky on a rich pain of
form and against the run of play.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Somewhat is the.
Speaker 11 (01:02:43):
Sounders who break down the right hand side, ball clipped
in and Mussovsky heads it into an empty goal to
put the Sounders up one goal to nil.
Speaker 25 (01:02:53):
And it's like the football guys are conspiring to make
sure Mussovsky's gonna score because this parcel Christians should be decepted.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
It's not.
Speaker 25 (01:03:01):
The cross from Paul rough Rock takes a deflection and
it goes right into the path of Mussoski and you
can't help but almost almost in shock that it came to.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
Him so easily there.
Speaker 25 (01:03:10):
But listen, when you're in form, you make your own luck,
and he happened to be doing that right now. Do's
five goals in five games, and in the absence of
Jordan Murray's if there was ever a case for taking
your chance.
Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Mussoski's made it well.
Speaker 11 (01:03:23):
Jordan Morris was the last player to score four in
four That was back in twenty sixteen. Now Mussoski joins
Montero and Obert Femi Martins is the only too player
other two players in that Molest's history for the Sounders
to score five in five straight games. So Mussovski, of
(01:03:44):
course now has the opportunity to come in on Wednesday
six and six, and what a moment and time for
him to find some form. As Houston trying to get
one back quickly sounds he can defend his next five minutes.
It's don't get its challenged by a roll down Sandwich,
(01:04:04):
both of them arguing to the referee. It's gonna be
a free kick for Houston, left side of the eighteen
yard box. You're looking at a replay here is Lingo.
Just wait for the pressure to come. We'll sloppy by Christian.
He's can barreling into Linger. Look for the foul goes down.
(01:04:25):
Now Houston have a chance to score. Of course he
was Colorado who scored her free kick. Behailovich put it.
Speaker 26 (01:04:35):
Under the wall.
Speaker 11 (01:04:36):
We'll see if the sound is stay rigid to the
ground this time a little bit wider than it was
last time, just a few yards outside the eighteen yard box.
Certainly a chance to test Stephan frying the goals. He
lines up his three men wore looks like it's going
to be Boons number ten standing over it. Mc glynn
(01:04:58):
there as well as left book likely be the right
foot of Ponce goes up and over. Just why it's
the side netting seeing if it took a clip off
the Sounders. Well it didn't. It's gonna be a goal
kick here of the twenty fourth minute, Sounders leading one
goal to nil.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
That's remind every.
Speaker 11 (01:05:14):
That's a Mussovski fifth goal and a good free kick
just went wide.
Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
Yeah, hit the board.
Speaker 25 (01:05:18):
Well, good technique was never on targets, so Stephan, the
frome was never truly worried. I think it was always
going wide off the post. They a little bit off target.
Before we learned last week was you're probably most vulnerable
when you score. And for the Sounders, they've got a
goal now and you mentioned it, Danny's how you manage
this next five to ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
It's really taking this thing out of the game.
Speaker 25 (01:05:35):
Putting your foot on the board when you need to
not giving away city balls as Jamo did there. Sounders
lucky to recover it. But when the chance is there,
absolutely you go for it. But now you're gonna have
the Dynamo team, it's gonna get one more desperate. They're
gonna have to open up a bit more. There's gonna
be more space. You've got the guys running behind Rough,
rock Ken, Massovski all can make runs in behind.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Oh but when he joins up there too.
Speaker 25 (01:05:53):
So taking the lead here should play very well into
the strength of how the Sounders want to play.
Speaker 11 (01:05:57):
Yeah, message from the bench will be take no risks,
manage the game now in the hot conditions look cooler
than notes normal this time of year, as you mentioned,
but Sounder is still coming from the Pacific Northwest climate.
Just got to take their time now sting out of
the game. They're leading one goal, Chill and Tonight's match
is presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Sounder's certainly
(01:06:19):
entertaining their fans over the last couple of weeks for
one win, of course, last week against Saint Louis. Already
wonder up here at Custon as Christian Roldan has it
just inside his half of the field, rolls it down
from center to this far side the left to Kimky.
He rolls it to New just flicks around the corner
to Kent. Little back he'll here comes New down the
(01:06:40):
left hand side. It's cleaned up by the Houston back line.
Good play by Ken and New on the left hand side.
It's a good combination between the two and Steve, you
and I have talked about it is New who going
to get more involved. That's proof that he is going
to get more involved off the intricate play by Ryan.
Speaker 25 (01:06:59):
Kent is really good there. You're seeing glimpses of what
Ken can do. I think listen dribbling getting the ball,
that's his strength, but seems to be very smart player,
can combine with his teammates as well. I think if
as a wing on the boy, you can add different
dimensions to your game and then get help from your
left back, which you knew who's willing to give.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
There is going to make border more dangerous and as
you attack.
Speaker 11 (01:07:16):
Great ball by Kim Kihey spread to the field because
this near side goes back to Alex rolled on from
the foot of Rothrock, who is wide and available, and
he gets it again now close down by steris that
to Alex, goes inside to Vargas, back to Christian sound
is keeping good possession here and the attacking third of
the field. Rothrock has it near side the right, comes inside,
(01:07:36):
clips it back to Chris You who drives it from
this near side far side to Ryan Kent holding wide
left position. New who in support, goes back to New.
Sounders just waiting for the opportunity to take advantage maybe
of a space in between this back line who's holding
the top of the box. Sounders spread it again, find
(01:07:57):
the space on this near side of the first of Yamar.
Vargas coming in as has rolled on back to Roth
right now. Vargas does get it, clips it towards Alex
and his near side. Sounds keeping great possession. Houston just
chasing shadows right now. As the sounders moved the ball
with speed, New clips about to Kim Kihee goes square
(01:08:19):
to Yamar. It's going to take a touch closed down
into the foot of Vargas gets clipped. Looks like an
obvious foul from Rains sitting in a yellow card. It's Rains.
Sounders again asking for the referee to a little more
balance in his cause it's off the arm of Massovsky
is gonna get use in the free kick just inside
(01:08:39):
the half of the field. Sounders FC Socket is presented
by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Twenty
eighth minute here Shell Energy Stadium, Houston, wherever you're joining us.
Thank you Sounders leading one goal to nil and this
score that is presented by Toyota.
Speaker 25 (01:09:00):
That was a good sequence by the Sounders moments ago.
Nothing came off it, but just moving the ball left
or right. Maybe we're seeing ten to fifteen past sequence.
The more you can do things like that just kind
of at times slow the game down because you can
always pick up the tempo again, but you kind of
you can disorganize a dynamo and move them out of
position a little bit, get everyone a lot of touches,
take time off the CROC.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
That's called game management and on the road.
Speaker 25 (01:09:22):
The more this game goes on, especially as we get
into the second half of your scene, he becomes so
important to just manage the game and play a smart game.
You don't want to back and forth transition game all
night long because it becomes chaos and that can go anyway.
Speaker 11 (01:09:35):
Bargas collects it faultless performance so far by rolled down Vargas,
Vargas allowed to get forward as Massousi comes in behind.
I think it's Bartlow got nudged down. Yes, Bartler is
working his way up to his feet a little late
on the challenge with Masalskipit Brian Schwetz to work mind
that not a bad place to give up a film.
Speaker 25 (01:09:51):
Yeah, and Misovski's gonna work hard. The finish sounders that
they're being smart. They're not going all out pressed as
you see at times when they're playing at home at Neumanfield.
You've got to pick, choose your moments when you're under road.
But any passes going backwards, any bad touch that you
can press. Doing it as a group, they're doing really well.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
For last week.
Speaker 25 (01:10:07):
It was tremendous the way the team pressed from the front,
and you're seeing glimpseed of that this week as well.
I think Christians is caught in the face there, definitely inadvertent.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
Yeah, it goes across there. He caught Christian. I don't
think he meant to do.
Speaker 25 (01:10:19):
He's trying to protect himself at his arm raised catches
Christian and it's the right call there for a freaking.
Speaker 11 (01:10:24):
It's probably an insurance policy for Ponce as well, just
going over to make sure he apologizes. Doesn't want the
referee to take action in any way, shape or for
me inadverting arm. Is he trying to protect the ball?
That's the tough thing, right. We see when we were young,
we were taught to use our arms for elevations ahead
to protect the ball, and now it feels like those
players have to play with their arms down.
Speaker 25 (01:10:44):
Yeah, it's called so much more so, so much more
than it ever was it something where it was almost
expected that you're probably gonna get a lot of contact
in those situations.
Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
Was a part of the game, and I think.
Speaker 25 (01:10:54):
As the game has gone on, you're more than likely
going to get caught for a foul having your anywhere
near and opponents face Well.
Speaker 11 (01:11:03):
After the first ten to fifty minutes, when Houston would
dominate possession with fifty eight percent, now the Sounders have
taken over. They've taken over the scoreboard leading one. Goldton
Hill also a fifty five percent possession. So hit Brian
Schweitzer's mark here. He says, whether it's home all away.
Fifty five percent possession for the Sounders is where they
want to be, and that's been their average around about
(01:11:24):
fifty five percent this entire season. So Sounders with that
possession are able to dictate a little ten pokes slow
the game down somewhat, especially when they're leading in a
place like Houston. How can they see these final fifteen
minutes out As we hit the thirty minute mark here
of the forty five Houston habit far side as Linger
picks up the ball, drive forward, double team by roll
(01:11:47):
darn It was the crowd who asked for the free kick.
The players didn't ask for the free kick. Referee heard
the shout from the stands, gave the free kick again.
Just feels frustrating. I think Ryan ken is having a
go at the referees wondering. You're like, what's going on here?
Comes from Rangers time in Scotland, which is no easy
(01:12:09):
place to play. I played it a living sent for
a little while, take no prisoners up there, and of
course played some time in Turkey as well. Finding his
way and I spoke to him just a couple of
days ago and he says he's really enjoying his football now,
really settling into the Pacific northwest. And now the sounds
after defended free kick on the foot of McGlynn. Sounders
holding their lines around the penalty spot twelve yards from
(01:12:31):
the goal, clips it in toowards a backstick and it's
a goal. It's Bartlow. I believe it looks like it's
going to be in a system. Referee flags o Odessu
it is going to be allowed, and they celebrate this
near side And it was a delivery by McGlynn to
the backstick, found it wide open Odessu and he heads
it past Sep and I have made a valiant effort
(01:12:54):
to make the safe, comes off his chest and finds
the back of that one. One.
Speaker 25 (01:12:58):
Well, there were warning signs earlier from Glynn's left foot.
It's a second or third delivery. Were seeing a replay here.
He's not offside. He gets in behind Vargas there and
he's just first. He just wants it more in that situation.
And I always have a feeling that set pieces at
times just comes down to that, which is who's gonna
have that desire to say I'm gonna be first here,
because you have to get your body in front of
(01:13:18):
your man. And sometimes it's gonna be a case of, look,
I might not be able to head this. I'm gonna
make sure you can't either, And in that situation there
definitely gets the bett of Albert Vargas gets on the
back side and it's a good header. And the Dynamo
when it's setting McGlenn from the right hand side in
the inswing, God, they've put in very dangerous boards and
the Sound as he did a last long pegged back
(01:13:38):
one one.
Speaker 11 (01:13:39):
Oh my death sue. Former Houston Dynamo two man gets
his first goal of the twenty twenty five campaign as
Sound just hold up. BR's having a check samething was
maybe offside, didn't look like if my advantage point.
Speaker 13 (01:13:55):
No.
Speaker 11 (01:13:55):
Glynn gets his fourth assists of the season. That cultured
left foot just curled it to that backstick. Oldesha lost
his mark and then hounded ahead up past Stephan Fry.
So Sound is now all to do with they try
and find themselves back at this game, crowd into it
been a nice, wide open game so far. Sounders just
(01:14:16):
need to shrug that one off. They've played well. They've
really taken over possession these last twenty minutes or so.
That's an advent is given by the referee, picked up
by the ling the top of the box closed down
by rolled on. It's gonna be a corner kick. It's
gonna be yellow. Can't give into yea mark again. It
looked like it was a clearance. Happened the player got
(01:14:36):
in the way. Yemo's eyes, Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
Were not on that. Not a good cord. Not happy
with that because listen, is it a foul?
Speaker 25 (01:14:44):
Yes, it's completely accidental in a sense that Yemo's trying
to clear the board. It's coming up high end. Listen,
the attack has been a bit smart. Deck come on
Yemo's blind side. He catches him absolutely. I think you
qull a foul. It's like you played good advantages, good referee,
and you give him a little warning down you the
game going.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
But I don't think two of those should get you
set off the pitch. That's the way I view it.
And it's a bit soft corner.
Speaker 11 (01:15:06):
Cape mcglyn comes in headed clear by that man. Yay
mark back over the end line. It's gonna be another
corner kick for Houston. They're trying and take advantage of
this momentum. It's suddenly found after that goal, another corner
kick for McGlenn on this near side. It's to be
the third corner kick for Houston in the game. Arms
(01:15:29):
outstretched or whips in, cleared by Kent top of the
box's BARSI strikes it, deflects it just wide. Another corner kick,
third in succession for Houston Sounders defending strong ten minutes
ago in this first half remains one worn here at
Shall Energy Stadium, but the crowded into it steeves that
(01:15:51):
corny sendences have to absorb this this pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Yeah, the game's ebbed and flowed back and forth really
really well.
Speaker 25 (01:15:56):
But right now you've got to say, so, who's some
dynamo look more likely definitely on top is they've got
their goal.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
They're pushing looking for that second one.
Speaker 25 (01:16:02):
The Sounders just having to bend but not break it
and absorb a lot of pressure, especially from set pieces.
Speaker 11 (01:16:07):
McGlynn farst side this time from the right bed inswinger
with his left foot and it comes whipped in top
of the six, headed clear by rolled On, then clipped
back in by our tour to that farst side, back
to where McGlynn was. It's a fight between McGlenn and
rolled On as McGlynn knocks it in, comes to this
far side as Linga waiting from his left corner of
(01:16:28):
the box. Staru's picked it off his toe. Houston half possession.
It's near side the left a Starus has it with
now with Barsie no real pressure on the ball, but
the sound it sounds holy just five yards or so
inside their eighteen yard box. All goes down this left
hand side for Houston. Challenge by rolled on. It's the
clear as lines. It does deflex off our tour headed
(01:16:50):
up in the air by Bartlow, challenged by the Sounds,
picked up and then knocked back and cleared eventually by
Yama could touch pike, Ryan Gent out of the air,
challenged by two players, takes the ball out of the
air very very well and then knew who puts them
all sorts of danger. There comes Houston clear by kim Key.
(01:17:11):
He back out top of the box to the glim
hot cut ball to Dorsy strikes it defects and then
hook Clayer by raft Rocks Sounders hanging on right now
headed clear by Yema picks up on this near side
by the Linger crowd into it, whips it in with
his right foot up goes new with Dorsey, deflects off
(01:17:31):
and then Ryan Ken picks it up on the far
side twelve yards or so from the end line, plays
it in to Rouzneck who feels the pressure, got his
ankles clip. But I think it was our tour. It's
gonna be a free kick for the sounder's gonna be
able to take. Yeah, the temperature down a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
That's exactly what they needed there.
Speaker 25 (01:17:49):
Just someone to be smart and get the buddy in
the front take a foul now, edge the lineup.
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Let's definitely fried. Take this.
Speaker 25 (01:17:55):
Don't play short that guys, get up the field, get
some breathing because there's been a hearts and mouse for
a few minutes. Heres that that anymore? Lots of shots
on gold just getting blocked on the sound. He's just
doing just enough right now, but under a lot of
pressure in the last couple of minutes.
Speaker 13 (01:18:09):
Well.
Speaker 11 (01:18:09):

energy said him? In Houston. It's Houston one, Sounders one,
and this score up that is presented by Providence Swedish
little bit Yo yo effects of in the last five
(01:18:30):
minutes or so for the Sounders in possession and get
their footback on the ball as Rothrock just leaves it
a little short for Alex, he knocks the ball out,
a little confusion between the Amon and pry For. I
takes over launch the ball long. Rosovski gets the bounce.
Can he find it? He does off the chest because
always dead soo penalty?
Speaker 27 (01:18:49):
Is it a handball out of nothing? Steve zach qary
and it's a red card? Oh wow, Maybe it's make
up time for the.
Speaker 11 (01:19:01):
Sounders of the last couple of weeks where the referee
has not given decisions and the Sounders favor and Steve's
that quarny. I'll let you break that one down.
Speaker 25 (01:19:10):
Listen as Stephen Fryant plays his more forward. I'm just
wondering there. It's wonders on when you get something out
of nothing. And I kind of fancy Missosage's chances, but
I didn't expect all of this penalty and the red card. Look,
we're gonna have to go to v R absolutely so
we'll see the first replay head so over the top
First of all, as to the fund that you don't
let Hi bounce.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
That's the first mistake. Hey, I don't see too much
in that. I've got to say.
Speaker 11 (01:19:34):
I mean, we'll see if the r takes us over board,
it bounce, its awkward.
Speaker 25 (01:19:38):
Bounce, is ahead, its arms get caught up. I don't
see much. I don't see it. I think it may
hit the arm on the way down. Is completely unintentional.
I'm trying to understand the red card.
Speaker 11 (01:19:54):
So let's go.
Speaker 28 (01:19:54):
But is it because they felt like he knocked the
ball away with his arm and he prevented I don't
really hit that board. I can understand it clear though.
Is just tossing with mysosge the moth Brattley for the board?
It kind of bounces off his arm.
Speaker 11 (01:20:08):
Maybe, So let me ask you this question. We talked
about it last week. Oh, if it's a call that's
made on the field, is there enough evidence to turn
it over?
Speaker 25 (01:20:18):
I think if I'm the Sounders and that's caught against me,
I'm losing my mind. Yeah, and I don't know how
listen a red card. I'm a shock.
Speaker 11 (01:20:30):
Well, Odessa is off the field now behind the goal.
The goal scorer for Houston. So in the space of
what is that less than ten minutes, he goes from
being hero with the goal, his first goal in MLS,
so now been given a red card. The referee is
still talking to the VR official. Odessa is off the field.
(01:20:51):
He's just gonna wait. I don't know. He's turning around.
The referee is not gonna Wow, make a change. Odessa
is now walking down the tunnel. This is just chaos again.
Speaker 25 (01:21:03):
There's been no good replay, to be honest, but the
ones we did see it may have come off the arm,
that for sure. The red cards where I'm really having
a hard time coming to terms of here.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
The penalty. If you think it's handboard, he give the penalty.
I have no problem with that.
Speaker 25 (01:21:16):
We've not seen a great replay, but the red card
is extremely, extremely hard.
Speaker 11 (01:21:21):
Well, don't leave us a halftime. Wow, Jackson, Diego and
Peter can have all sorts of fun things to talk about.
We'll see how this plays out. The referee is still
listening to his ear piece. Oh, then he's gonna take
a look at the VR. Oh death show is already
off the field. He's walking down the tunnel. It's gonna
have to come back if they overturned this one.
Speaker 25 (01:21:40):
I'm just funning what angle he had that he was
so confident in the penalty and the red card because
Masovski and they're tussling boards bouncing. Oh, that's his first mistake,
cause you don't have the board bounce. You deal with
it right away. The moment you let bounce, you get
the strike of some incentive. Mausoski does the right thing,
pressuring him chasing the board. They're now tussling for it,
and it may come off his arm in advertually there maybe, So.
Speaker 11 (01:22:02):
Let me assure you this. If it's inadvertent off his arm,
is it sill a penalty based on today's rulings and
not a red card? I mean it was looking at both.
Is it those two decisions combined this?
Speaker 25 (01:22:11):
Well, I think he's gotta be combined because he's sent
off because you're saying he's handled the ball and hit
the ball away probably deliberately in this with intention at
least to give a red card. They're now scoring opportunity.
That's what they're checking on the red card. I I
just don't see it, to be honest, I just don't
see it. I think they're tousling I'm seeing the arm now.
It does come off his arm, but it's as the
(01:22:32):
ball's on his way down soft he's round top of him.
Speaker 11 (01:22:34):
And is it inside the eighteen? Knows it outside the eighteen?
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
And it's outside the box. He hits his left arm
right there.
Speaker 11 (01:22:40):
And he swings it around. So maybe the movement, I
don't know. Again, you got it.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
You've got a defender's defend.
Speaker 11 (01:22:48):
It's a discussion point now, and whatever happens, Brian Schmitz
is gonna be asked about it. Yeah, I would say
the third game in a row where the referees got involved, because.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 25 (01:22:59):
If he calls an nothing on that, I don't think
anyone thinks anything of it exactly. So you've now made
it such a moment where there wasn't. I mean, the
red card really has taken me by surprise. The penalty email,
we can debate that, but I do think it was
outside the box anyway. So we'll see what he does.
He's taken his long hard look like we saw it
last week where three games off time at the monitor
(01:23:19):
and yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:23:20):
And the question is is it conclusive evidence that his
decision was wrong? And I think that's it so it
could be outside the box, yes, but that doesn't matter
about the red card. It's more about penalty though.
Speaker 25 (01:23:29):
Yeah then yeah, And is it still a denial of
whats growing opportunity because that doesn't matter what was in.
Speaker 11 (01:23:33):
The box, well, outside of the exactly, he's the last man.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 25 (01:23:36):
Oh, we'll see what he does. He's put him off
in the hold. It's a tough it's a tough hold.
He's put ms off in it.
Speaker 11 (01:23:40):
I think you're absolutely right if you haven't called anything,
which is usually the case for most referee decisions. It's
such a case you wouldn't have been questioned in any way,
shape or form. And let's hear what the referee has
to say now as he announces his decision to the crowd.
Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
The final decision.
Speaker 17 (01:24:01):
It's the red free kick and red card for dying
and obvious storing up infinity.
Speaker 11 (01:24:06):
So wow, you get one for two, you get the
red card. As monitor is not pleased at all, and
I would be pleased. But it's not gonna be a penalty.
It's gonna be a free kick just outside the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:24:18):
It's a free kick.
Speaker 25 (01:24:19):
But they've got a play now forty five minutes plus, Yeah,
I mean, Ben Olsen's absolutely right, and listen, I feel
the same. This was called against the Sounders branch means
a Precky would be losing his mind because that is
you don't send Yema off for that.
Speaker 11 (01:24:31):
It's just you definitely need Steve Loiner on the on
the sideline to talk through some of the staff if
that decision.
Speaker 25 (01:24:38):
This is a tough, tough break. But listen, for the Sounders,
you take advantage. It's the way the games go. Sometimes
you think over the course of a season, these sources
of decisions even themselves out. But the referees made himself
the story here in the situation.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
He didn't have to do. There's nothing in there.
Speaker 25 (01:24:50):
He's two players badly for the board might bounce off
the arm inadvertually of course, then they're both tested in
and you play on. But free kick in a great
situation there for the Sounders, we'll get time. I did
off for VR now because so much time had the
money off. But as sound as a play.
Speaker 11 (01:25:05):
A man up rested away, Well, if there's a game
to play a man up, it's gonna be at Houston
with forty five minutes to go. Houston played midweek. They
beat Phoenix rising in extra time four goals to one,
with a good number of first team players. And just
like last time when they were in Lumenfield, they played
the I played the Panamanian national team LEL Salvadora national
(01:25:27):
team in a friendly game that that midweek, so Sounders
have had the full week to rest. Houston now have
to play down a man for forty five minutes. Now
the Sounders have a chance. Top of the box, knew
who's on it as well as Rosnak.
Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
I'm gonna guess new who's the dcoy.
Speaker 11 (01:25:44):
As Rusnak strikes it deflex it was well worn by
the Sounders. It's a little touched by Rosnak and then
it's barreled into the back and that's going to be
an obvious free kick. And this is something that Missovski
did not need to get involved in. Houston has got
a man down to see who that player is as
(01:26:05):
Barler comes across. Missos has given away a couple of
silly yellow cards in the last handful of weeks kicking
balls away. This time, I think it was a follow through.
Potentially it was an obvious foul.
Speaker 25 (01:26:16):
It was Missosky felt that he was tripped and its
found those away and well he was down.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
He then retaliates and sticks his leg out.
Speaker 25 (01:26:23):
You don't need to do that. You both off the
pitch and listen. I wouldn't be surprised if you take
a little cross to look at it. I'm not too
much in it, but Missostle definitely definitely sticks his legout again,
just Tripps a Houston Animal player likely would end up
being nothing. But there's no need to even put refrom
that position, especially on the heels of such a contentions cord.
Speaker 11 (01:26:40):
We take past the forty five minute mark, look down
and the or the fisher puts nine minutes on, so
we've got nine minutes about it. Time after there's forty
five sounders upper man for now red card on goalscorer Orodessu.
He's given us a penalty rescinded after var check and
(01:27:03):
now there's a little bit of weight and see mode
as the sounders and it's gonna be nothing. It looked
like he was a foul, kind of looked like he
was gonna be a corner kick. Now it's gonna be
a goal kick. There was pon said that went down,
made the most of it. Andsofsky did not need to
get involved. And I think Roan Schmetz will have a
word with Danny. Don't want to spoil your opportunity to
(01:27:27):
get six games, six goals and six games. And oh
yeah he's lucky, I would say so.
Speaker 6 (01:27:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 25 (01:27:33):
I think he was fouled. The defender definitely browed into
his back. But you gotta be smart. You know your
man up, your goal up, you're the goal scorer. Yeah,
no one needs to give you a free anything to
think about because if he has a chance to maybe
even as he will.
Speaker 11 (01:27:46):
You know, the referee has got a really h hard job.
Now now it's a foul on the Sounders, Christian Roldan
got barreled into. I think there's gonna be a lot
of frustrated Houston players. And as much as the Sounders
need to get in the locker room and just regroup
and think about the second half's got in store for them,
I think Ben also needs his players in the box
back in the locker room as well as ro Fog
has it as near sight back to BARSI they don't
(01:28:09):
give the referee a chance and a sniff to make
a make up call. Here rush in the second half
and we'll get another look at it. Ponce tries to
wriggle free of Alex Roldne mocked over this near sideline
right into the Sounders bench. Wherever you're headed, Discount Tire
wants to get you there safely. Shot for tires with
Treadwell your personal tire guide at Discount Tire dot Com.
(01:28:31):
As we tick into the forty eighth minute, here a
Shell Energy Stadium, Houston one, Sounders one Houston scored a
goal and by Rodessu to tie it up. And within
ten minutes, less than ten minutes, it was Orodessu who
got in a match up with Masoska at the top
(01:28:51):
of the box and there was a VR check that
clarified that it was going to be a red card
that was given by the referee and a free kick.
As Ryan Ken comes back cleans things upreached the play
knocks it back to Stephen fry So again. It feels
like third week in a row for the Saunders. A
referee is playing a major part in proceedings here.
Speaker 25 (01:29:11):
Stiff, Yeah, and it's been such a good game. I
think it's been an open, free flowing game. A couple
of fowls here and there were Houston maybe a bit
over aggressive at times. That particular incident there was such
a nothing nothing really happened there. Referee making not just
one but two really big decisions in the end reverses
one of them. It sticks to me to the more
controversial one of the red card. I feel bad for
the kid o Destro there because I do think it's
(01:29:33):
not much. What can you really do differently there? I
don't think it's a red card offense. But if you're
the Sounders, the advantage been given to you. You're gonna
have the rest of this half about five six minutes
here and a whole entire second after potentially play a
man up.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
It's a great chance to pick up free points.
Speaker 11 (01:29:48):
Well, this is the time maybe to make changes with
fresh legs and really get after this team. We're gonna
be heavy legged in these final twenty minutes in the
second half or so. And you've got lights of Georgia Minongo,
Pegrit La Vega, Jess Ferrera on the bench, scary crossbeck
for Houston as they go into the locker room. And
now can the Sounders find something to clip forward by
Kent just over hit it, try to find the slasher
(01:30:09):
run of Rothrock towards that back stick over the in line,
it goes Houston I Sounders one Houston down, a man
with a red card on oridessu. About five minutes before
the half of forty five, Sounders have some time Silks
to find that goal with five minutes remaining of the
nine added minutes, it's gonna be a goalkick for Jonathan
(01:30:31):
Bond came back from his time in back in England
with Watford where he came through the academy system before
coming to the MLS and spent time in LA went
back to Watford and then he was now signed back
with Houston, and it's gonna be Rains who's gonna take
(01:30:51):
his time and see what It'll be interesting to see
what Houston do.
Speaker 13 (01:30:55):
You know.
Speaker 11 (01:30:55):
We talked about them playing mid weeks Phoenix Rise. He
had to go into extra time to get that win.
And with ten men, even though it's at home, they're
gonna be storing the game down as well as best
they can.
Speaker 25 (01:31:05):
They're gonna have to We're gonna have to get a
lot more compact, probably make a sub and then really
really play for set pieces and for transitional opportunity I
think gone is the idea of trying to possess the
board for long periods and really break the Sounders down,
which is the intention that came into this game with.
So they're gonna have to go and really change their
style getting a halftime, and I don't think they can
compete with the Sounders bench. You mentioned some of the
(01:31:25):
names on that bench. The Sounders have firepower. You can
bring on guys here that really could be starting on
this team. Dani will have one or two options they
can do on the bench, but they're really handicapped now
by playing with ten.
Speaker 11 (01:31:35):
Men or goes along challenged by Yam or Summer's just
need to be very careful the referee there's gonna be
as human of course. Could he make up that call
as he takes maybe a second look at it in
the locker room halftime, I'm sure have been some words
spoken to him. I'm sure the crowd will not be
happy with his decision, as was voice when his announcement
(01:31:58):
was made after he checked the screen on VR. You know,
a few boosering around the stadium, I'm sure at halftime
clicked over the top by McGlenn. Good play finds Dorsey
far side the right running ford Is Dorsey has been
active in the attack and third of the field. Here
he gets it left foot, little awkward, goes wide. It's
gonna be a goal kick here in the fifty first minute.
(01:32:20):
Houston one Sounders one.
Speaker 25 (01:32:24):
Well.
Speaker 11 (01:32:24):
May is AA n HPI Heritage Month support AA n
HPI owned small businesses joined the month of May for
a chance to win Sounders FC prizes. Visit intentionalist dot
com to find a business near you. It's about three
minutes remaining of the nine Sounders want to see this
one out. Regroup and I'm sure the staff will put
(01:32:48):
their minds together, come with the game plan for the
second half. This is, of course, as we mentioned in
pregame in the beginning of the match, it's the third,
first of three straight away games, very difficult places to
play Houston tonight and then we're down in La on
Wednesday for LAFC and then big rivalry game against the
(01:33:13):
Portland Timbers down in Portland on Saturday evening. So three
points tonight, Steve, you'd think is the message here, especially
now being down Upperman for forty five minutes to come.
Speaker 25 (01:33:24):
Yeah, you're gonna have two very different speeches at halftime
in saddles, knocker rooms, branch mess are gonna be saying
gold for it, and it won't take long before he
brings in attacking reinforcements or at least even changes things
tactically where they're engaging a bit higher up the pitch,
taking more risks. It doesn't mean you got all gung
hole right away, but you definitely do think. We don't
want to leave two points on the table here. It's
there for the taking and it just sets you up
(01:33:45):
well for what you're facing. A midweek LFC always a
tough place to play. And then of course Portland is Portland.
Speaker 11 (01:33:50):
Good play by Alex Roldan deep on this right hand
side wins the corner was Barsi who came back slid
in blocked the cross on the end line by Alex
Sounders now with ninety seconds to go of this first
forty five nine minutes about a time due to that
pretty much due to that VR call, big long delay
(01:34:12):
as he turned over his initial decision. No penalty, but
definitely redcard. As the ball comes into the backstick, I
put away by the Houston back line, headed away by Bartlow,
flicked him by Kinky. He getting away by Bartlow Woodenville,
Washington native. Turned away from pressure by Ponse gets the ball.
Sounders retreating now just defending their goal. As Barsi has it,
(01:34:35):
clips it from this mere sight center to the far side.
Picked up well on that far side by Linger, flipped
around the corner, finds McGlynn heads it down, who tries
to wriggle free played ball played by Roldante Yemas sound
As clean up things well, Ryan Kent get to the
final thirty seconds here outside the foot Kent to Mussoski.
(01:34:58):
Goal score for the Sounders, five goal to the last
five games. Sassi, who slows it down, now founds Russneck,
overlap and run by Alex's obviously just slowing things down.
As we approach the end of this first half, both
teams will be happy to get into the locker room,
a drink of water, regroup two very different team talks
(01:35:20):
of course to come. It comes rolled On, whips it
in towards the BACKSI good ball towards Musovski headed away
top of the boxes. Rolled On tries to strike it,
finds a Russneck. There's a chance to test the goalkip
that flicks it away, steps in by yam. I think
kim Key it's a little bit careful, barrels into him.
It's gonna be a yellow car and Kim Ki he
(01:35:42):
right at the end of this first half, a free
pauses yellow car out of his pocket, gives it to
Kim Ki Hee and that will be most likely the
last bit of play. And there's what have been what
has been a very interesting, an action packed first half.
Lots to talk about for the guys at halftime, and
again a referee can just put the whistle to his mouth.
(01:36:03):
What do we have to say the free kick and
never get that it's just absolute waste the time that
sounds are gonna wait, it's gonna be a free kick
for Houston. What do you a minute pass the nine?
Jonathan Bond's gonna roll up. It's gonna have to put
the ball up in the air. The referee will.
Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
Call it.
Speaker 11 (01:36:23):
And then he does. He just lets all that happen
before he even kicks it. He blows the whistle ed
just I don't know. That just sums up the referees
performance in that first half. But for the betterment of
the sounders, and it was the sounders in Mussovski who
took the lead in the twenty second minute, and there
was this fifth gold the last five games. Rich vein
of form for Dni Missovski, and then he was Oridessu
(01:36:44):
scored in a thirty second minute, and then just a
few minutes later in the thirty eighth minute, it was
Odessuho tangled up with Massovski, he got the red card,
Sounders and VR check were given a penalty, then he
was taken away. The Sounders going a half times that quantity.
Speaker 25 (01:37:01):
Your thoughts, yeah, if in the first forty two minutes
of this game was a good game, back and forth,
both teams going for the win, doing well. Then after
that our referee decision, it never really got going again.
So halftime coming at a good time for both teams.
For the Sounders, you're well poised one to one, with
lots of reinforcements on the bench. The next forty five
minutes there's free points therefore the taken.
Speaker 11 (01:37:19):
Yet we'll take a short break, Jackson Felt, Diego Arioha
and Pete Fewing, We're back to break it all down
at halftime. Here at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas
is the Dynamo one Sounders one.

Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
Show forty five minutes in the books from Shell Energy
Stadium down in Houston and your Sounders and Dynamo are
tied at one, and what a first half. It was
Danny Mazovski scoring a header off across from Paul Rothrock
in the twenty second minute. That is five goals in
five games. He joins the legendary group now of Freddie Montero, Oba,
(01:40:12):
Femi Martins, Rollri Diez and Danny Mazowski. Five goals in
five games. Pretty impressive.
Speaker 10 (01:40:19):
Houston got back ten minutes later with a free kick
from McGlenn.
Speaker 5 (01:40:21):
Awoodessu gets the header past Stephen Fry and then madness
there right before halftime, as we had what was going
to be Dogso and a penalty. They take a look
at var they rule that it is Dogso red card
to Awodessu. He's gone Houston Downaman, but it was outside
the box, no penalty kick and thus we go into
the half one to one. Jackson, Feltz, Diego, Audio a
(01:40:44):
Pete Fewing here pease start us off. Takeaways from not
only the first half, but just the craziness we witnessed
over the last ten minutes.
Speaker 7 (01:40:53):
Well, it was a lot of different segments to this game.
It was back and forth at the beginning for the
first ten minutes, Seattle settled down. They got an excellent goal.
Kids should watch the run that Danny Massovski makes. He
takes off going to the box, goes to the near posts.
He's got Ethan Bartlow on him. He fades into the
middle of the goal. Ethan doesn't pick him up. He's
got a pretty clean header. Seattle was very good for
(01:41:16):
the next ten to fifteen minutes after that. Then Houston
started going a text cam weaver during the game and said,
is mcglenn's left foot better than Davis? As he said,
no bad Davis the great lefty from Houston, but he
is very, very skillful on his free kicks. He hits
a great free kick, they score a great goal, and
(01:41:37):
then boy, it's disappointing. And I had written down, honestly
on the Houston goal. Ryan Kent came from behind and
tackled and he looked at the referee like that was
not a felon. I had written down then that that
was a questionable call from the referee the penalty and
then rescinded penalty that he.
Speaker 6 (01:41:53):
Gave and took away from Seattle.
Speaker 7 (01:41:55):
I thought that was really a bad call and really
was hard done to lose a player, so and then
it kind of unraveled. And I thought Danny and Steve
did a great job. Two different locker rooms right now,
two different discussions, so for each team, and I hope
the Sounders do.
Speaker 1 (01:42:13):
Go for it.
Speaker 6 (01:42:14):
They got a bench to do it.
Speaker 9 (01:42:15):
Yeah, I completely agree, And I think the probably this
type of call is like you never want the referee
to to be or to influence the game, and I
think in this call, I mean, good for the Sounders,
but to be honest, it's one of the most questionable
calls I've seen in a while. Victor Rivas actually won
the MLS Referee Award in twenty twenty three. This referee,
(01:42:36):
that's that's that made that call. But to me, it's
like that changed completely the game because Jackson, as you
were saying, when Houston Dana was playing, well, they scored
the thirty first minute, six minutes later, we have that call, right,
and that changed completely and then the last few minutes
it was o chaos.
Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
Right.
Speaker 9 (01:42:52):
But I think for the Sounders in this case, now
they have their man up and to Danny's pointlet call,
I said, you have to go for it, right, Yeah,
you have to go in the second forty five minutes.
Speaker 5 (01:43:02):
Let's talk about the second half coming up next. But absolutely,
what a what a last few games a refereeing we've had,
my goodness, including Tacoma Portland.

Danny Leva, Jul Paulo, and then we have some great
(01:47:13):
attacking weapons here, Pedro, de la Vega, Georgie Manongu. Heyesu's
Ferreira and just signed to the first team. Osase de
Rosario a boys who comes off the bench. B How
do we get three points?
Speaker 6 (01:47:26):
Pete, I think it's Ferrera comes off the bench first.
He's used to this climate. He can give us something.
I think.
Speaker 7 (01:47:32):
I don't think that Massovski's a two goal a game
kind of guy. I think deve Rosario has been hot.
He got to get a goal midweek in the US
Open Cup game. Give him a chance, but I would
wait maybe to about the sixtieth minute before I would
make that change.
Speaker 6 (01:47:48):
And then de la Vega, Georgie and JP.
Speaker 7 (01:47:50):
This might be a game for JP to come in
and kind of close it out with three games this week.
Speaker 9 (01:47:57):
Yeah, I agree, and I think Pete so well. Daniel
Soski has a yellow guye right, So that's a true
good point. You need to take him off the pitch.
I like Jesus Ferret the experience, also scoring against Houston,
you know, playing Dallas for so long and that classic.
I would love to see the Osasa de Rosario if
he can get a few minutes. And I think also
(01:48:18):
better like beg, guys gonna have two minutes as well.
How to win this game, you just need to bring
those new weapons and also start the game as you were.
It's a new game at the end of the day.

FM, Welcome back Sounders fans to Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Whether Sounders start the second half all square with Houston,
but they're up, amen, and we'll get to some subs
in just a minute. As we see it. De la
Vega come on the fields. Did not start the game,
(01:51:59):
but looks like he's on now ready to go. But
Sounders took the lead with Massovski's fifth goal in the
last five straight games to equal a Sounders record alongside
with certain Freddie Monterra and over Fremmy Martins. And then
it was Odessu for Houston in the thirty second minute
who tied it up. And then about eight minutes later
(01:52:22):
he gets the red card. It wasn't a penalty that
was originally given by the referee. It was called back
and the Sounders now at the opportunity as the first
of three straight away games for the Sounders this week,
to try and find a goal that will earn them
those three points. Kim kid, he has it, so see
(01:52:47):
before he gets the lineups, what's Bryan Schwetz said to
his team it's a bit of a different team tour
than I imagine he would have had written down in
his pad of paper in the fortieth minute, but what
did he say?
Speaker 25 (01:52:58):
Yeah, without saying all that attack, he'll say goal for
him and he's made a change that signifies that.
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
And it it stays like this, there'll be more changes.
It's a game that's there for the taking now. I
mean the gift has been given.
Speaker 11 (01:53:10):
It comes to Eleaveger in the box strike.
Speaker 26 (01:53:14):
And it's Rusnack.
Speaker 27 (01:53:16):
First contribution by Della Vega on the right hand side
and he cuts the ball back to Rusnak who guided.
Speaker 11 (01:53:25):
The ball into the back of the net.
Speaker 27 (01:53:28):
And within a minute this second half, the Sounders take
the lead two goals to one.
Speaker 25 (01:53:35):
And that is exactly what we're just talking about. It's
exactly what the doctor all did. It's good football here
and it was almost gonna be tough for this Dynamoe
team to keep the Sounders team at bay and not
give up chances. But maybe then expect to happen this soon.
Then a Vega of an instant impact. That's a great
cutback and that's a good finish by Albert Russknap, who
with the inside of the left foot just gets a
little bit under it, which helps him in the end
(01:53:55):
because it goes over the goalkeeper. And the Sounders could
not have scripted you started. Is half any better? Up
two to one?
Speaker 11 (01:54:03):
Well, it looks at VR is taking a look. Assovski
gonna flashing front the goalkeeper. The first thing the goalkeeper
Jonathan Bonded, was point to Massovski, was he interfering? And
the answer is no, quick VR check, quick check by
the referee, and Houston get us going. It's the worst
possible start for Houston, absolute best possible start for the Sounders.
(01:54:27):
They'd take a two to one lead now, four to
five minutes or so left, so early in the first
second half. I bet Bryan schmittzer Belly got himself situated
on the bench.
Speaker 25 (01:54:37):
Yeah, and I think that goal has changed. It's half
time tall already you've gone and got what you would
have wanted. Now you don't have to chase the game
at all. You're not gonna sit back and defend, but
you are going to bait and dare this anamal team
to come out of their shell just a little bit.
So I don't let to say one one the animal
would have felt this stay compact, stay in a low block.
We'll cast him in transition. That's got out of the window.
(01:54:59):
Now is gonna possess it. Can be patient, can pick
and choose their moments, and they've got a press to
do it. How about Russ and that Albert Vargets Christian
moder he's on very experienced prayers at this point, we're
very good on the board and they'll be able to
dictate the temple of the game. It's a long way
back for the dynam wall and I think it sounds
in a great position.
Speaker 11 (01:55:16):
You know, what will be interesting to see what would
Houston do if they start to preserve some legs at
some point in the second half. But Alsen Sounders can
get that third goal. If you get the third goal,
upper man, you think that Ben Olsen starts to make
some changes just to save some legs. But the Sounders
still had work to do. Two goals to one up
here just a few minutes into this second half. So
(01:55:40):
let's get you the lineup coming out the locker room.
There was a change at halftime seven frying goal about
four of Alex Yemark, kimkih and knew who pushing alongside
o bed middle of the park, Albert rutsneck because the
ball goes over the top, Pasarski picks it up. No
flag yet from the assist a referee inside the box.
He goes towards the end line back to Ryan Kent
and I've called the box. Look back. Heel towards new
(01:56:02):
Who's gonna whip it in and can't miss the front
guy picked up by rolled on now on the far
side of the right, with Dolla Vega as cis man
with his first meaningful touch of his game as he
came off the bench at halftime. Let's get you those
final players. So Albert Roznak in the ten, Ryan Kent
on the left, Pedro Dela Vega who replaces Paul Rothrock
(01:56:23):
at halftime and got an assists within a minute of
coming off the bench. He plays on the right, and
then Danny Massovski goal scoring the first half, plays up top.
Let's get you the lineup. We'll get your lineup in
just second. It's gonna be a free kick to the Sounders.
We'll see what they can do with that, especially with
what Andy Roses conjured up in the first half. A
couple of good chances coming off set pieces as you mentioned, Steve,
(01:56:48):
the Sounders now can really manage the game well up
the goal in Houston have to really start chasing it
if they want to try and get back into this game.
Speaker 25 (01:56:55):
Yeah, and I don't think anything changes immediately the next
five to ten minutes. But this game goes on to
squad as stays as it is with the Sounds ahead
and animal you're gonna have to start chasing because they listen.
Losing two to one or losing five to one makes
no difference, zero points either way.
Speaker 2 (01:57:09):
So the one wall for it too early.
Speaker 25 (01:57:11):
But as this game goes on, they're gonna take a
few more risks. If the Sounds as the gaps up there,
you can get in a third to really kill.
Speaker 2 (01:57:17):
This off your wall for it.
Speaker 11 (01:57:18):
Tella Vega takes a shot from a really tight angle
but shows the confidence as the referees just gonna hold
things up, and that's gonna be a question mark for
the Sounders. Kim ki He with all that experience, got
tangled up at the halfway line. I think it was
Ponce who has gone down on massofsky as well. In
the first half. Kim kih is on a yellow card,
so walking on thin ice right now with the Sounders.
(01:57:40):
Nothing given by the referee johnthan Bond gets us going
off the deck. What goes over the top sails over
the top of Alex rolled on. But you know, see
this is where Brans Schvesz is gonna start thinking about
the yellow cards. I think it was talked about at halftime.
Referee is he gonna potentially do your makeup call here?
You go mentioned that he was the twenty twenty three
(01:58:02):
MLS referee of the Year, So even the best can
make mistakes before gets clipped for by Yamar on a
yellow card as well. So two center backs for the
Sounders on yellow cards and the experience of the new
man Linger Poonce McGlenn. I mean they're gonna be looking
for those yellow cards stuff.
Speaker 25 (01:58:23):
Yeah, I think it's something that breast he's got to
think about, because you've got to also think about the
quick turn around in midweek. You are going to LFC
expects always a tough game when you go there, and
so maybe to some of the guys on the pitch,
has told them, hey, give me a good ten to
fifteen minutes here and then I have the luxury now,
especially I forget enough gold.
Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
I really beginning to rest guys, make sure the one
gets booked.
Speaker 11 (01:58:44):
The Glenn takes a shot side netting. Crowd thought it
had gone in quick, quick shout from the stands, but
it's a side netting just the outside of Sep and
Fry is right post. Will be a goal kick here
in the early minutes of the second half and woul
a start it's been for the Sounders. Within a minute
it was Dela Vega to Rosnak takes the lead. They're
(01:59:05):
upper Man and this score update is presented by Toyota
as a Sounders lead two goals to one.
Speaker 25 (01:59:12):
Yeah, they'd have been going into the second half hoping that, hey,
if we can get a goal in us opening ten
to fifteen minutes, will really set ourselves up for success.
Probably inexpective to come in the first ninety seconds of
the half. It's just completely taken all the life out
of anything that Dynamo would have said it they've been
a halftime Ben also would have given him fun belief,
and the Sounder just took it away.
Speaker 11 (01:59:32):
Ryan Kent stepped up towards you and a little ding
what a wonderfultball flared by Houston. Goodness that was got
a magic from Ryan Kent. Here's Rosnak. Ryan Kent is
enjoying his football, as he mentioned to me just a
couple of days ago. Certainly is playing that way right
now and that was something that you don't often see.
(01:59:52):
That just a little bit of magic, just to think
the ball so close to the goalkeeper. Stilla Luds, Jonathan Bond,
the Sounders have it. We'll get your comments in the minute,
Steve as the Sounders was rolled on outside of the
atv rbist. Now they just put the foot on it
and it's gonna be new. Who's gonna strike it from
the near side to the far side. Let's get your
(02:00:13):
comment about Ryan Ken. You've been a winger, a left winger,
but the ability to just step up the ball then
play that little thing over the top.
Speaker 25 (02:00:19):
Yeah, and you can see he's a seasoned player. You're
not getting a raw player. Again, no one's a finished
product yet. But once you beat your manage, so it's what.
Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
You do next.
Speaker 25 (02:00:28):
And I think the quality of the crosses he's been
putting in that final boad. Obviously he got two assists
last week. He's had a chance to get a couple
more this week as well. He can beat his man,
show him a clean turn of pace. But then it's
what he does next that's been impressive to me. He
actually is a rushing he's he's his crosses are varied.
It's a different kind of cross depending on where he
is on the pitch, where he's runners are. That's the skill.
It takes time to learn, so definitely very seasoned. He's
(02:00:51):
come from a very good level and already it's like
a very good pick up for this albums.
Speaker 11 (02:00:55):
You have good work by Corey Sean in front office
who find continue to scour the world for these hubset
players to help Ryan Schmetz on his staff continue to strengthen.
It's a tough ball, well worn by kim Ky Hugh
needs to be careful to man she's on a yellow car,
but clean tackle the lovers. A ball to the far
(02:01:17):
side the right to Pega Dolarvaga overlap and run by
roaldar Ovega drops his shoulder, comes inside his left foot,
strikes it blocked by Bartlow. Find steris able to clear
it down the line and only over the far touchline
for a soundest throw. Crowd don't lie. That look pretty
obvious from that advantage point. Jonathan Bell is gonna make way.
(02:01:40):
Now it's gonna be Yemar so Yima, also on a
yellow card, but I know he's been potentially played a
lot of games, a lot of minutes, So I would
imagine kim Ky he will slide to the right, Bell
maybe to the left. We'll see how this plays out.
But kim Key also on a yellow car, so we'll
(02:02:00):
see what else Brian Schmittz does. Hopefully he's gonna rely
on Kim's experience just to keep himself out of trouble.
Speaker 2 (02:02:08):
Yeah, I think you'll give kim Ky here maybe another
ten fifteen.
Speaker 25 (02:02:11):
Hope enough and crazy happens, and if you get a
chance to get him out, and you'll probably have to
reshuffle a few things left there.
Speaker 11 (02:02:18):
Yeah, could be a new who slides inside really bigger
Whiting maybe comes in on the left back spot. We'll
see what happens. And here's John John de Bell left
at center back and kim just gonna slide to the right.
But good little ball too. Della Veger isn't able to
control it. Picked up by Houston, closed down by Roldan,
and Sounders pick it up from Sasky runs away. They
just see be careful don't kick it away. It's on
(02:02:39):
a yellow card as well. Sounders just have to manage it.
A little bit of game management right now. As the
ball goes into McGlynn assistment off that free kick for
Odessu finds the foot of Bassi actually his Ponce, who
strikes the ball over the top. It's gonna be a
goal kick for the Sounders and as set from four,
I get set for his Goalkay, let's get you the
lineup for Ben Olsen and Houston, Jonathan Bonding goal Staius
(02:03:04):
Bartlow and then Pabolo Ortiz came off the bench at halftime,
center back from Columbia, spent the last three years in Europe.
He's gonna come on for his first game in MLS,
his first minutes in MLS. He'll play alongside Bartlow in
the center of the park or Deesta of course, had
that red card. Griffin Dorsey on the left. The midfield
three of rains oar Tour McGlynn, then Linger and Ponce
(02:03:28):
up front as Barsi makes way for Ortizo, take down
by Massowski pulled the ball down Well finds rolled on
back to Christian Roldan now strides the ball from center
to this nearsider left with Ryan Ken lots of space,
just cuts it back to his right foot and obviously
to New who just clips it back to Vargas thirty
(02:03:50):
yards from Gold. There's left of center as he rolls
it out to this nearsight to kent down the line
towards New towards the end line, cuts it back, flick
to Delavay. Can he find his feet, drops it back
to roll down good block top of the box, asking
for a hand ball, but that would have been very
harsh by Sterous who threw his body against it, blocked it.
Sounders keep it la Vega right corner of the box,
(02:04:12):
whips it in with his right foot towards the back stick,
bounces once and then cleared by door seal on this
near side for a throwing and that's seeking a third.
Speaker 25 (02:04:19):
I think the mindset's very clear this team. They're going
for that third goal to really kill this game off
and leave no doubt. We're seeing a quick replay here
upstairs listening it. Is it off his arm, yes, absolutely,
but he's using us to brace himself, and I think
it would have been harsh.
Speaker 11 (02:04:33):
I mean the refereence to be a very brave individual,
it would have been very harsh, So get into a
tank and drive out of state. Goodness. Sounders has steve
if that Quanni mentioned, finding that, trying to find that
third goal that will make this game a little bit
easier in the final fifteen or so minutes. We get here,
(02:04:55):
the fifty eighth minute, Sounders leaving two goals to one.
They have the ball with Ryan Kent drives forward left
card of the box, records free towards the endline, clips it.
Speaker 26 (02:05:02):
In and strikes and it's Russneck again.
Speaker 27 (02:05:08):
Second goal of the evening, second goal of the second half,
and it's a Sounders third, and if they wrapped up
three points tonight here in Texas, Houston one, Sounders three.
Speaker 2 (02:05:20):
Brilliant from Ryan Kent. Brilliant.
Speaker 25 (02:05:22):
I mean he's playing with a lot of confidence right
now in joining himself, but he's fun to watch. Picks
the ball up and just starts driving, and he's made
so many good things happen. We saw glimpses last week
and he's carried on this week. Picks up the ball
here about thirty five forty yards from goal and just
picks up and drives. And this is a sign of
a confident winger uses albed Vargas there as a decoy,
(02:05:43):
plays the ball into a dangerous error's three Sounders guys
lined up take a pick and the end it's Albert
Russneak and I think this does put the game out
of reach for Houston. It will take an absolute miracle
for him to get anything out of this game. This
now allows branch Medzer to go to his bench and
really stop thinking ahead to because we have Wednesday and Saturday,
two massive games. But this road trip could not have
(02:06:05):
started any better for the Sounds.
Speaker 11 (02:06:09):
Sounders you can hear right and get on a microphone.
What are you doing? I think that's a little question
towards his sister referee on this near side, because there's
no swear words nice and polite, and it's questioning of
the decision. But it's gonna be a free kicks for mclenn.
It's a very similar position as it was for the
goal where he floated into the back of stick for
(02:06:29):
ORIDESU one. I'm up in the air by McGlenn. Sounders
defending inside their eighteen yard box ball whips in a
little short what is a saved by Steph and Fry.
It was a head of a flick header. I think
it was my Dorsey and it was Fry. It was
a certain goal and somehow he threw himself to his
right made the save. It's gonna be a corner kick.
(02:06:50):
But oh what a save by Stephan Fry.
Speaker 25 (02:06:53):
That is a big time save and I think it's
been Houston's best bet all evening. McGlenn inswinging cross this
Dorsy quite far up, gets a lot on the head off.
Speaker 2 (02:07:02):
It takes a big right hand of stuff and Frank
turned that behind him.
Speaker 11 (02:07:05):
Paul comes in headed clear by you man. Jonathan Bell
came on for ya Mar to play in the back
alongside Kinky Fudge towards the backstick along the linger, then
hooked up and away by that man Jonathan Bell inside
the six. Houston are not giving this one up. Sounders
need to just absorbed this pressure hours to get here.
In the sixtieth minute, half an hour to go, Sounders
(02:07:27):
leading three goals to one Sports Radio ninety three point
three KGr FM. Sounders need to defend this corner kick. Now,
see a splattering of green shirts around this stage, but
mostly orange. They're on their feet. They're trying to encourage
their team it's gonna be a corner kick, hripped in
by McLynn, clar picked up by Dorsey back to McLynn
(02:07:52):
had some time whipping him his left foo towards the backstick.
Bart Low and Linger could make the most of it.
Look like I went over the end line, nothing given
the referee standing just ten yards away. Linger has it
comes back to Rains thirty yards from goal, plays at
square to McGlenn who just clips it in with his
left foot. Defended well by the Sounders, picked up by Newton,
(02:08:13):
hes to clear his lines, gets clipped and then della
Vega comes back to help. Well played by Della Vega,
assists man for Rossnick's first goal. Grian Kent now gets
the ball the assists man for Rossnak's second goal, five
goals in his campaign. Now for Rosneck as he levels
up with Mussovski, who got his fifth goal in five games.
(02:08:37):
Early in that first half, Sounders again just finding a
way to execue the right times. It was the messaging
from the coaching staff and the fans really coming out
of last year's Steve where the Sounders defensively solid the
last couple of seasons, but really need to find their
way in the attack and third of the field.
Speaker 25 (02:08:55):
Yeah, the best teams in this club's existence have been
the ones that play free flow and attacking football. The
fans come to Seattle to be entertained. They want to
see a show and get results. I think the past
couple of years that was missing. The team went off
in the off season really addressed it. We felt really
good about how it looked on paper. It'spired a bittle
start and stop, but over the recent weeks, in this
(02:09:15):
good run of form and suns, see it come together.
And what I like about it, it's in the absence
of Jordan Murris. We know what Jordan does is the
all time media scorer of this club. So you know
what he'll bring you. He is ten to twelve thirteen
goals a year. You know you're gonna get that is.
Can you get others going? Besoski's got going, Albert's got
going as well. I think tonight might be a great
night to get Hazy's Ferra some big minutes as well.
Gave him to the game, Gay's confidence going as well.
(02:09:36):
Maybe give Albert a little bit harrested.
Speaker 11 (02:09:39):
Just a little high stepping the crap started laughing. Yeah,
but nude the business wargoes of the end line. Just
seize it offlessly. Gave Dorsey a little nudge, let's get
you the Saunders bench. So we had Della Vega come
on at halftime. Jonathan Bellis come on already, so Hazius Ferrara,
Reed Baker White and Georgie nong Go, Kolonel Kosa, ri Enji,
(02:10:02):
Jacques Paulo, Andrew Thomas, Danny Lavis. Some bench still for
Brian Schmidt to the pull off, and I would have
to say, Steve, I don't think there's a better bench
in MLS than that.
Speaker 25 (02:10:11):
He is a very strong bench. And you're talking about
a team that even has port Ariota. You're not on
the rest Jordan Fable and Jordan Murray, so you're missing
two very key guys who maybe are in your starting
eleven and many teams starting eleven as well.
Speaker 2 (02:10:22):
So listen, those off season needs were very well addressed.
Speaker 25 (02:10:25):
This team beginning to gel and look like a well
bogered machine in very very good form. Maybe the most
informed team and all of them ands at this point.
But it's a big week. Talk about the three away games. Yes,
it's off to a brit start. I just wonder the
management now in terms of minutes.
Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
When the court stuff.
Speaker 11 (02:10:40):
Does Tallavega tries to clip it towards myself. So get
picked up on this near side, just outside the eighteen
yard box to rusnac and to roll do strikes it
all that looked like it was going the back of
the There there was Bartlow who threw himself at it.
Deflex it over the end line. It's gonna be a
Sounder's corner cack. But Sounders looking for their fourth goal
as they lead here three to one.
Speaker 25 (02:11:00):
Yeah, it's a confidence team here and listen it's yeah,
depending as ten men.
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
But we saw this last week as well.
Speaker 25 (02:11:05):
We've seen it in recent weeks where the attacks beginning
to click and come together for the Sounders here. I
think Albert Rostatsmo. He's been in and out of the
lineup all year long. He's beginning to find some of
his best form. We saw how great he was last season.
He's starting to rest those levels. Of course, we've mentioned Massotsky,
the run he's been on going into the Sounders recordable
tear with his five goals in five games. Kent's been
(02:11:26):
a great addition that a Vega looks like he's sharp
and buzzing since the injury going his sister as well.
So everywhere you look, you're getting very good performances in
that final third, and it's beginning to show up on
the score.
Speaker 11 (02:11:36):
Shiet a couple of changes for Houston Junior also on
our tour off Ethan Barler off andred On Andreid signed
on the loan from Fluminensa just a couple of days ago,
just his first minutes for Houston. He's gonna come on
play central defender against other new men or teams. So
Sanders is gonna have a real chance to a potentially
(02:12:01):
to these three goals. Now playing against two very inexperienced
as it relates to MLS center backs, not a very
easy time to come into a game. As we get
here in the sixty fifth minute, sounds leading three goals
to one. Brian Kent already had a major impact in
this game, a couple of great runs and deliveries, and
(02:12:23):
then it was Rulers New just ran out of turn
out of pressure. Maybe his arm was raised. Referees is
gonna wait. Now we're gonna see some changes for Brian Schmetzer.
And here's man your confusion on that free kick corps
against nw who again it's more about the arms going
up again. We will see some changes now being made
(02:12:44):
by Brian Schmetzer as a looked down it's gonna be
an offensive move for Brian. It's gonna be pages for
our on four jugle Man Rosnik. Good outing by Albert Rossnik.
His US has got now to five plus minutes to
hit themselves back into the game after being out the
last couple of weeks. I think see it will confirm.
(02:13:09):
But Georgie Menungo is on and Ryan Ken off, so
that's gonna give him a bit of a break because
we go into midweek game against LA not bad combination
of players to bring off. And if I'm a defender
as I was, and I see Ryan ken go off
with Georgie Mnunga, come on, I'm asking for as up.
Speaker 25 (02:13:27):
Yeah, nothing changes, right, Maybe maybe Monong is even more aggressive.
He's even more unpredictable, so you're gonna be in for
a run. I'm not surprised by the ensues Ferrera change.
Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
I think it's a good one. Get out off, no
need to keep him one at this point, and I
think it's a good chance for Ferrer's. The game is
off going you know he's back.
Speaker 25 (02:13:44):
In Texas and think us, a long time rival, would
be a great time for him to kind of start
really with Sama's career here.
Speaker 2 (02:13:51):
And if you're gonna need it, no, I look at
the stretch of games coming up.
Speaker 25 (02:13:53):
He's gonna be a team for all year long, and
you'll need to let Ferrera to really get going.
Speaker 11 (02:13:58):
Just cringing here as Jenny Masauci goes in for a
second challenge in less than a minute, it's on a
yellow card. Branch s Metzo has got de Rosario, who
just signed his first team contract this week, got a
goal of midweek. It's Definance. You mentioned lost de Finance
lost US Open Cup play against Star Fire. Memorable game,
lost three goals to two.
Speaker 25 (02:14:17):
Yeah, heartbreaking ending. I couldn't believe it. I know Jackson
has fots on them.
Speaker 11 (02:14:22):
We're not gonna We're not gonna mention referees again. As
Linga picks the ball up, Georgie trying to close the
ball down. Can sound us find a fourth goal? Really
put this one to bed as they leave three one.
As McGlynn takes the shot, speculative all bounces in strike
like so over the topic goes it's gonna be a
(02:14:43):
goalkick for Sounders. Here in the sixty eighth minute on
Sports Radio ninety three point three KGr FM, Shell Energy
Stadium in Houston, Sounders leading three goals to one against
the Dynamo.
Speaker 25 (02:14:53):
Yeah, I mean, the game's in the bag for you
if you want it, but you still got to do
the job. You've got to close it out. The work
keeps a good habits, close players down, don't give up
three shots. In seventy eighteen, Yard was because the things
you practice in these games, that's what carries you over
into the outcoming games, and especially when you get into
a really tough competition that stretch in the summer and
you start pushing towards the playoffs and things of that nature.
Speaker 2 (02:15:14):
You build those habits now.
Speaker 25 (02:15:15):
And so I think for the Sundars, it's next twenty
twenty five minutes or so is how do you close
out a game? Because if Houston able to get a
set piece and get one to make it three too,
you never know, things always can get more interesting. So
for me, it's more of a case of let's close
this game out the professional job. If you can get
a fourth goal, let's do it. But it's leave hit,
don't conceive any more chances any more goals, keep the
board as much as possible, and if for chances.
Speaker 2 (02:15:37):
Never go for it.
Speaker 11 (02:15:38):
We'll correct myself. It was Kialani was my thought coming home. Reader,
It's not on the bench, It's gonna be Kinky's selling
in the yellow cars. You gotta get a break. It's Masofsky.
You gotta get a break, and get it. Get Ze Derasario,
of his second run out for the Sounders in as
many weeks, signs first seen contract. As we mentioned, father
(02:16:00):
de Rosario is here in town to celebrate Alumni Weekend,
the twentieth year celebration of the championship team that he
was involved with as the Dynamo moved in two thousand
and six from San Jose to Houston and went back
to back MLS championships shortly thereafter. And Barrosario, MVP in
the league, was.
Speaker 2 (02:16:21):
Not a bad player at all. He was He was
a special, special player.
Speaker 11 (02:16:25):
And Brian Ching was a former Sounders player back in
the old days. Want a check couple championships. He's in
town as well. Think he was de Rosario in that
first inaudial game for the Houston Dynamo got four assists.
Of my supporters. Roy Craig Wibel, general manager, also played
(02:16:49):
I think also got championships. He was stalwart and talk
about his experience as MLS back in the day when
there was all the tenty. Now there's thirty teams in
the thirtieth year of MLS in celebration for the NLS
this year, San Diego been that thirtieth team. We're getting
(02:17:13):
a change here. Ponce goes off, Kawalchick Well, come on,
Sounders leading three goals to on twenty minutes to go,
so we'll see what moves. Brian Schmetz will make misof
goo and a yellow cards had a couple of nibbles
(02:17:34):
in the last couple of minutes. Maybe this Brian needs
to protect his goal man. Wouldn't want him to miss
the opportunity to break the record six goals in six
straight games. He hit five today. Right place, right time
is his Montra right now, and it's a deflective cross
from Paul Rothrock has had great success against Houston. Three
(02:17:55):
goals in the last four games against Houston, more including
remember it was his eighty ninth minute winner one nail
back in twenty twenty three that really solidified. I think
his first team contract. I think he was still a
low knee from the defiance at that time, and he's
snuck in on that back stick and in the next
(02:18:15):
two games he got a goal in each of those two.
Houston habit just inside their half of the field, brought
it out to the far side the left. There's Kawal Check.
(02:18:36):
Paulish International signed in August of twenty three to assist
on his year so far, he finds his way back
into fitness. Started a number of games against the Sounders
over the years since his introduction to MLS uson playing
with ten men. As remind everybody out there, fortieth minute,
var Corps held the red card, turned down the penalty
(02:19:00):
that gave the sound Is the opportunity to play in
the second half upper man and they took full advantage.
The la Vega came off the bench and his first
meaningful contribution in the first minute went down the Ryans side,
cut it back for Rosneck. Got the first of two
goals for Rosneck. Second one came from an assist from
the other side from Ryan Kent. Paul gets not long.
(02:19:21):
Dawsey goes back because you headed to the middle, put
clear by Steris. So like Steris has moved into central
defensive role, picked up the captain's armbands where he played
for the LA Galaxy. And of course Steris probably sell
us nightmares of a certain Jordan Morris picking up the
ball deep away from gold in La and just blew
(02:19:41):
past Steris and then scored that goal. If remember the
outside of his right foot into the top corner, Dorsey
has the ball in his hands, it's going to be
a throw in for Houston, just in front of Brian
Schmitzer and the fourth official all down the line, picked
up by Roll darn. So let's go around the league.
Let's get you some results. There's some interesting results around
(02:20:04):
the Western Conference, and we'll just get you there. In
the minute, the bore goes in behind with Monono could
have gone down, hold his feet back. He goes to
La Vega and maybe in a couple of years time
Georgia goes down under that challenge wins that penalty too. Honest,
Steve zac Corney, you would have gone down.
Speaker 2 (02:20:23):
By my second or third year. Yes, have you you
learn I should play?
Speaker 11 (02:20:27):
You learn it comes Houston left hand side is or
tease sounders pick it up well, Like I said, let's
get some results around the league earlier today Minnesota four,
Miami one, big win against lel Messes Miami Cincinnati two,
(02:20:49):
Austin one ors to go on the road and lose
to a high flying Cincinnati team. New York Red Bulls six,
and there's a conflict in score because I'm looking at
mine Steve has seven. We'll get a confirmation of that.
LA Galaxy nil. So LA Galaxy still no win on
the year champions last year. I mean, it's got to
(02:21:10):
be one of the biggest falls from grace you could get.
Speaker 25 (02:21:13):
I think it speaks to how important prochs forget the
moment he's gone down. I've not the same to my
Tony lost your vintage as well. So that's the team
that didn't really retook and is paying severe.
Speaker 11 (02:21:23):
Conse Sounders have it right hand side with Alex rolled
On getting involved. Can he whips it in? You know
when I said about rips the ball in from the outside,
sound As are playing with a ton of confidence. You
were first time ball by New overlapping run by New
Georgie has it left corner box drops his shoulder comes
inside Dalla Vega shifting from a right to the center.
Now it's new left channel. HRIPs it in with his
(02:21:44):
left foot, good ball system, referees, flag goes up new
just looked like he crept offside. The ball came to
him just slightly delayed. It's gonna be a free kick
for Houston as we get here in the seventy fifth minute,
fifteen minutes left of the ninety will be some heavy
legs now for Houston dynam as a Sounder's lead three
to one.
Speaker 25 (02:22:01):
Yeah, I think the game is coming to a snatchural conclusion.
Of course, set pieces and things of that nature will
still be a danger that the Houston may have. But
I'm surprised she met at this point and Massoski still
out there. I thought it was a good chance to
bring in the Rosario and just rests Missosk because he's
in good former You need him, i think on Wednesdays
going back to one of these former clubs, so he'll
be moretivate for that to keep his run going. It's
(02:22:23):
obviously always a big game player THEYFC, and then everyone's
also I circled the derby against Portland a weekend, so
you're gonna need him and Kim Kihee a lot of
trust be put into a minute to not put a
foot wrong as he's on a yellow card. But he
does have options on the bench, he just hasn't used
them as of yet. But the team's on a good
job here managing this game, closing it out. Whenever chance
(02:22:44):
to go, they're going, but in general taking the sting
out of the game completely here and Houston Dynamo, any
belief they may have had that to make this interesting,
I think as the second tick on here, that belief
evaporates with it.
Speaker 11 (02:22:56):
That's Ferrera so looking for his first goal and a
sound of shirt and MLS. Of course, he was prolific
for Dallas in front of goal, as he has been
for the US men's national team, and certain n Ladera
sitting on the bench for Houston made his shift from
Orlando in the off season to Houston. Of course, Sounder's
(02:23:16):
legend arguably the best or one of the very best
players came in at about the same time as Brian
Schmitz did in the summer of twenty sixteen, and in
that first year he won a championship, turned the culture
around with the club, and then the story as Steve
that turned off the music said Hey, we're here to win.
Speaker 25 (02:23:36):
A big player, and I think when the time is right.
I know he was honored on his return a couple
months ago, but he'll be honored in a more meaningful
way because he for me. You can throw a few
names in there, he has an argument against each and
every one of them. They'll before and after at this club.
With Nicoladero, He's arrival marked a shift in terms of
we had a great winning culture, but winning trophies already.
Speaker 2 (02:23:57):
He took it to another level where it became expected.
Speaker 11 (02:24:00):
Tonight's match is presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers
Sounders leading three goals to one here on the road
at Sell Energy Stadium, Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM,
Sounders ten points from their last twelve available and they
make it thirteen out of the last fifteen. A good
(02:24:20):
solid run and Sounders are on and this last month
or so being resilient back there. Whether there's some uncharacteristic
mistakes made earlier in the season defensively where they gave
away some leads, as notably against Charlotte in the last
minute of the game at home in their season opener,
but they've really come back and they'll start to climb
(02:24:41):
the table depending on how results go. But here's Dorsey
now inside the eighteen knocks it in, cleared well by
Jonathan Bell picked up now Vy Ferrera picks it up
and drives forward sausly to his right. Della Vega to
his left is Pedro gets it left corner of the box,
closed down by the back line, drops his shoulder, comes
(02:25:03):
inside on his right foot, back heel to Vargas. The
referee gets it. Refere's gonna have to call that one back. Yes,
he does, deflected into the foot of McGlynn. As the
rules go, it doesn't matter where he is on the field.
A little more awkward when it's in around the eighteen
yard box, But there is the change that we were expecting.
It's going to be. De Rosario all score of midweek
(02:25:26):
for Defiance got a really good chance last week, of course,
right in front of Gold, wasn't able to execute a
little bit out of character for him. Is really developed
well in the Sounder system, and it's Musosky comes off
five goals in five straight games for the Sounders, Number nineteen.
He makes way gets himself ready for La in midweek
(02:25:49):
as de Rozario comes on the field. Sounders have it.
Foot of world goes all the way back to Jonathan
bell Well Sounders FC Soker is presented by Provident, Swedish
official healthcare partner of Sounders FC so. He ticked towards
the eighty minute mark. So ten minutes ago here in Houston,
as Georgia Muniga has a little step older, lazy back,
(02:26:11):
give us it away, Just telegraph that pass. Linger picks
it up. Who drops off the field? Come back? It's
a Christian rolled on through the likes of Christian. It
goes and Linger and a new crunching tackle on Lengo.
He jumps up, doesn't ask for anything. He's been around
(02:26:31):
Europe and as that's a proper tackles. The ball gets
whipped in, headed clear and over the end line. Buy
roll gone for a Houston corner kick.
Speaker 2 (02:26:40):
Yeah, I give it a sound.
Speaker 25 (02:26:41):
Sage's been careful because set pieces had actually been a
strength for the dynamo here, because then anything gets a
goal is putting about that belief and you're still a
gout ten fifty minutes to play depending on what's added
on here, and three two is a lot more un
comfortable than three to one.
Speaker 2 (02:26:53):
I think at this point you're trying to just see
this game out and you're gonna get I do. I's
been a dynamo.
Speaker 25 (02:26:59):
Maybe to frost free numbers forward, try and get a
bit more in transition so you will get chances going
the other way. Just be a bit more clinical Georgian
in the last couple of attack's been a little bit
sloppy and if you can be clinic on the final third.
Speaker 2 (02:27:10):
There's another going on the table for this team here tonight.
Speaker 11 (02:27:12):
Englishman or As Sonia comes on for Linger for his
MLS debut. Or Sonya played for Saint Mirren most recently.
It's only his first introduction has rolled on. Looks like
he need to tweaked something that's not good news for
the Sounders, holding the top part of his leg, the
back of his leg. Hopefully it's a little bit of
(02:27:34):
cramped stage, a little bit fatiguing than anything.
Speaker 25 (02:27:37):
Yeah, you're gonna hope maybe he took a knock or
something like that. Of course this is such a big player.
Speaker 11 (02:27:44):
Yeah, we've got having a conversation with the medical staff
because Cornish are like we've got Jiao Paolo, Danny Lava
on the bench lots of good replacement options for Brian Schmatzi.
There's gonna be a corner kick for Cuson out swinging
with the mclynt towards Nick Or the box comes off
the face of It's New and the game's gonna stop.
(02:28:04):
It's a deflected all right, into the face of New
who he goes down. Let's get you a couple more
scores around the league as the games continue to go on,
especially from the Western Conference. Dallas one, Salt Lake one,
Nashville two, Charlotte one. It's an Eastern Conference game, Saint
Louis one, who the sound has been convinced last week
(02:28:26):
at home they're losing two goals to one at home,
and gets San Diego, who had a blit just a
couple of weeks ago, but I've had some good results
in the last couple of weeks. And then in Colorado
it's Colorado nil San Jose. One's seven thirty tonight Pacific time,
Portland host Kansas City. Well, we see a replayer here
(02:28:52):
at that Stephan Fries save and I mean continues to
he knew it was a good save. I'm just looking
the replay right now, and it has punched the post
he jumped up. He knows that was a big time save.
Recollections of the twenty sixteen save that he made in
that championship game, that famous save.
Speaker 25 (02:29:12):
One of the greatest plays individual praise in Sounders history.
You could say in terms of you fel some of
the great goals you've had and things of that nature.
I think that one I remember in Casey ketoff four
saves against Samon's in his last season that comes up
as as a book. But the Stephen Fry save, the
way that game was going, were really under the crush and.
Speaker 2 (02:29:29):
He needed him to come up big and he did
at the biggest moment.
Speaker 11 (02:29:32):
Sounders still have work to do here leading three to
one upper Man, but Houston is still knocking the door.
They made some changes, lots of debutantes back on the field.
Samer's had the experience. I need to see this one
out now. With you mentioned the Charlotte game they were
leading going to the final minute of the game. Really
need to see that one out as a little mistake
from the Sounders who let Charlotte back into the game
(02:29:52):
to tie up. It comes Houston left corner of the
Sounders box, right corner as Georgie needlessly pulls down. Dorsey
puts his arms up in the air. Ask him for
pleading his innocence. The phrase already made the call. This
copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced,
or rebroadcast wheout the express. We're in consent of Major
(02:30:15):
League Soccer. Soundles lead three to one here.
Speaker 25 (02:30:20):
Then that's not a good foul because the best opportunities
usin that f had has come from this inside right
McGlynn free kicks in swinger moves, that great left freees
put some good services and that's how they scored as well.
Speaker 2 (02:30:32):
So not the best foul to do up against the Houston.
Speaker 11 (02:30:36):
Team, and that mcbin leaf foot sounders need to defend
this free kick inside the box Britton towards the backs.
A good defend you by kim Key. He powerful header away.
It's picked up by Kavalchik far side Dela Vega just
nips in isn't able to win the ball, although Sannia
plays it back to the range who skips away from
Dela Vega on the far side. The Houston left back
(02:30:58):
to Olisarnia. Your tackle look like from Derisario, but needless.
Maybe from behind Sounder's just causing their own problems right now.
It's a yellow card for Derozario on his first game
as a first true first teamer.
Speaker 25 (02:31:16):
I mean, I'm with Dina Vega and he sus Ferro.
They asking referee, how is that a yellow card? And
we'll see the replay here. Maybe he see something I
haven't seen. I think that's a blue tackle from Rosario.
If you want to see your strikers getting involved defensively
when they can, he does the right thing. There's a
big boy, big buddy, so yeah, usual his shoulder just
a little bit there at the worst.
Speaker 2 (02:31:35):
Maybe a foul. Yellow card is a bit harsh, but
we'll see. Not the harshest quart of the day.
Speaker 11 (02:31:41):
Sounders need to hold strong, defend this free kick. And
again we mentioned it. I think it was Colorado with
my high levitch who went under the wall as they
jumped and Blunich Schmitz and said, that's on me. Players
need to stay down. But it's a little bit further
out of this time, So four man wall free kick
(02:32:02):
left of center. It's gonna mc glinn. Now this left
foot up and over the wall, comfortable, say by for
a difficult angle to try and find that far post
with the left foot. Sounders continually three to one here
with five minutes to go.
Speaker 25 (02:32:17):
Yeah, I think if you're the Sounders, you're gonna expect
the dynamo from set pieces to be dangerous in the
run of play. Now we're approaching a final five minutes
plus whatever's added on. It really is about game management.
You know, there's nothing more you need to do. Offensively.
Can you get a board into the wide areas, have
your wingers maybe have a goal every now and then.
Aside from that, it's possessing the board, using your man
advantage all over the pitch. Somewhere on the pitch, or
(02:32:39):
have numbers up, use that and use those numbers, move
the board around. Preserve your legs and energy because now
attention does begin to shift towards coming midweek and then
next weekend.
Speaker 11 (02:32:49):
What goes down the right hand side de le Vega
chasing it down stairs knocks it out safety first by
the Houston captain number five playing central defender now coming
from that left back spot. But all Sounders are back
on the road to face LAFC. On Wednesday May fourteenth,
at seven thirty pm Pacific. Watched the match for the
(02:33:10):
MLS season. Pass on the Apple TV app and listen
on ninety three point three KGr FM and l Ray
thirteen sixty am. The Provident Swedish pre match show starts
at seven pm. Then the Sounders find a fourth goal
here in these final minutes, porgoes this nearsight to Georgie.
Double team by Houston, even with ten men. They see
the danger of Georgie. We saw that with Ryan Kent
(02:33:32):
double team. We've done their homework and didn't matter. Ryan
Kent found joy down that left hand side, got a
some reward for all his work, got that assist for
Rosneck and the Sounder's third goal. So Ryan Kent got
his rest, came off. Georgia came on. No easy task
for Glendor. Say the right back for Houston. Here comes Georgie.
(02:33:56):
Flicks it around the corner. Here he goes inside the
box past Doorsy go good saved by Bond. It was
Georgie who went around the corner. Beat Dorsy with you.
He's trying to find the far post, trying to slott
it into the fast stick. Jonathan Bond went down with
a good strong left arm, made the save. It's gonna
be a corner kick Sounders.
Speaker 2 (02:34:15):
Listen. DAWs is a very good player.
Speaker 25 (02:34:16):
But if you have to face Kent and Georgie right
after doing this, that's a tough, tough task man.
Speaker 2 (02:34:23):
These are two of the most direct wingers.
Speaker 11 (02:34:25):
They He'll sleep well tonight.
Speaker 25 (02:34:27):
He's earned every bit of his paycheck this week because
those guys are in enless. They're gonna run at you
every time. And I was good played by Georgie. I
don't mind the finish there. Sometimes you've got a little
bit selfish force of a good save and the sound
is now a corner.
Speaker 11 (02:34:39):
Kick, be a corner kick foot of Ferrara far side,
the right back. It goes to Petrodela Vega down the line,
back to Ferrara top of the box too, I guess
well worked again by the Sounders. Deflected off I think
it was urso the substitute goes over the end line
again another corner kick for the Sounders. So Andy Rose
(02:35:00):
really has laid it out there today and the Sounders
could have had a couple of goals from these set pieces.
Speaker 25 (02:35:05):
Yeah, it has been really well worked and we've seen
a few different wrinkles there by the Sounders. I think
on this occasion at Ferreira, he's got the numbers up
there in the box.
Speaker 2 (02:35:12):
Gimky, he's up there.
Speaker 25 (02:35:13):
Souls new who sold Jonathan bell Andy rosarros On, big
bodies in the box on Maybe this one is one
you're just swinging or.
Speaker 11 (02:35:19):
Goes top of the box against Vargas, strikes it over
the top again. Well worked Houston, Evant switched on on
these set pieces. There's going to be a goal kick here.
In the eighty ninth minute Houston one Sounders three. Houston
down a man after a red card from rids Who
in that first half, and the Sounders have taken full
advantage in this second half. Very professional performance by Brian
(02:35:42):
Schmitz's men. What a start it wasn't that second half.
Within a minute By goes the de la Vega gets
nucked off the ball well by the Houston back line
and forward comes Felipe Andrei Andradick striding forward. Did well
by rolled on. It's gonna be a thrown on the
(02:36:02):
far side. But Steve branch Presser should be very happy
with the performance of his men tonight.
Speaker 25 (02:36:08):
I mean, you sometimes go into a game and you think,
you know, if everything goes well for us today we
have a chance. Then everything that's could have gone right
has gone right. You know, a free decisions, players performing well,
scoring at.
Speaker 2 (02:36:19):
The right moments.
Speaker 25 (02:36:20):
I think it's a great way to start off, to
stretch off three tough games in a week.
Speaker 2 (02:36:24):
It really is.
Speaker 25 (02:36:25):
And I think for the Sounders, you know, hopefully with
a couple minutes to go here, you leave there no injuries,
You've been able to rest a few guys, get guys reps.
And now if he really is looking like he has thirteen, forteen,
maybe even fifteen players you can choose from on any
given match day, and that's a position you want to be.
Speaker 11 (02:36:42):
And if the Sounders so the Sounders from the performance
last week, for one, they got three Sounders, one team
of the match, they knew who Kent and Vargas, Vargas goalscorer,
kent two assists, knew got the fourth goal. I'm gonna
think Rosnek will be up there. Yeah, two gone night
for him, dictated play the center of the park. Also,
(02:37:04):
still a mass of this. You've got Vargas and rolled
on who's played now, will will be the full ninety
Danny Lavor and JP on the bench. Haven't come off
the bench to give up some time to those two.
Do you expect maybe those two to play against LFC
because of that?
Speaker 2 (02:37:18):
I can see it.
Speaker 25 (02:37:19):
I would say when you think of Obed, you think
of Christian or Done, two of the fittest guys on
the team. They're two of the guys who can see
just going and playing and not feeling anything to it.
So I would hate to break them up at this
point if it is such a good rhythm. They're playing
so well. Nothing against JP and Labor. The last time
we saw them they were fantastic too. I just think
at LFC you want to send a message, and at
(02:37:41):
Portland and two of your best players at this moment
in time, that tandem in midfield, they've been fantastic again tonight.
I don't want I don't think you need to rest
Obed Evean. He's nineteen years old. He can run all
day right now. And Christian still hasn't slow down either.
Speaker 11 (02:37:52):
Yeah, we gotta think. You know that the big teams
in Europe who are coming over with the Club World Cup,
they are playing at this time of the season, they're
playing three games in the week, week in, week out.
Good play by Georgia down the line, it goes new
who's there? The rassario is available, just delayed the cross slightly.
The assario frustrates the ball to reach him, but knew
(02:38:14):
who again up and down that line four minutes about
a time out of other referee already one minute into
that four Sounders just dictating play. Now it's about seeing
it in the finish line, getting that three points. And
if the Sounders do hold this score, we'll see what
happens tonight between Portland and Kansas City. But the Sounders
(02:38:34):
will leap frog from seventh to the top four with
nineteen points. Portland said just a point below them in
fifth from eighteen points elif seen sixth was seventeen points.
So it's some big games in and around that area
of the table in the next week or so. And
to remind everybody, Sounders traveled to LA and Wednesday night
(02:38:54):
you can listen to it here and sports ready in
ninety three point three kg FM, and then it'll be
big game down in Portland. Sounds need to hold their
nerve right now. Just see this game out there's Houston
habit right corner of the box of door. See willing
runner two minutes ago as the ball gets clipped into
the back stick. Good defending by rolled On he clips
it off. It look like an obvious deflection off. I
(02:39:16):
think it was Kovalcik. Referee didn't see it.
Speaker 2 (02:39:19):
Yeah, I mean that order fout.
Speaker 11 (02:39:21):
I mean, I mean what take one?
Speaker 25 (02:39:23):
Yeah, it's definitely for I think he's calling for the foul.
I mean he comes through and it climbs a little
bit above Alex Roydon and he defends it well because
he has to, but referees Adam Man he's given a
cornic it can I transferred dynamoment to end the night
on a high, to may this score and seem a
bit closer and maybe it was better.
Speaker 2 (02:39:39):
Sounders. You want to defend us, well, take a free
points and go home.
Speaker 11 (02:39:42):
The Glenn clips it in the penalty spot, headed away
by de Rozario. Good play. Georgie asked him for the
throwing on his near side, not given, so sunders need
to defend again. All the hands at rains sounds putting
a real good shift out in difficult conditions. Look cooler
(02:40:02):
than normal as you mentioned here in Houston, so perfect
night to play. Really, when the new travels to Texas,
all gets played in should have been a foul again
referee gives nothing seven and four course off, Alex rolled
On runs over, picks it up. You get here in
the final sixty seconds of this game. Sounders have done
their job. They would have pointed Seed to this game
(02:40:24):
as the one to get three points. Set them up
well because we know how difficult it is to go
on the road to la or Portland.
Speaker 25 (02:40:30):
Yeah, I think so of those three, you think which
one can we absolutely have to go in thinking we
need to win this if you want to win all three,
I think it's the most winnable one. We certainly fought
the game before the balls kicked to before kickoff, and listen,
it's hard not to go back to the red card.
Speaker 2 (02:40:43):
I think it changed the way this game went.
Speaker 25 (02:40:45):
I mean courts tosy, not just the comments from Ben Olsen,
but also the perspective of branch Mets as well and
his staff kind of what he saw there, because I
think it definitely changed the course of the game. I
still think threequints were there on the table. The team
was playing well enough. Definitely got a boost there. But
that said, you've got to take it when it's there.
You've got three points and a few years ago to
sound has had these weeks where they'd win three games
(02:41:08):
in a week.
Speaker 2 (02:41:08):
I think they did it that three or four times.
Speaker 25 (02:41:10):
And half their points on the whole year came in
those weeks, so you can really get nine points in
and you'll be sitting really pretty And at the end
of this end of this week.
Speaker 11 (02:41:19):
Final seconds here as we ticked towards a ninety four
minute mark, we've hit the four minutes about a time
and there's the referees whistle brings the game to an end.
Disappointing for Houston, but a really solid win for Brian
Schmittzer and his men, and it started in the first
half with Musovski the twenty second minute got his fifth
(02:41:40):
goal in five straight games. It's a great return for
Danny Mussovski since he got introduced to the starting lineup
in place of an injured Jordan Morris. But there was
Odessa in the thirty second that tied things up and
then he went from hero to villain somewhat, but you'd
have to argue that the referee made a really harsh call.
He got a red card. The thirty eighth minute changed
(02:42:01):
the entire dynamics of the game and the Sounders took
full advantage coming out in the second half. There was
Rosneck in the forty sixth minute got the winning goal
and then followed up in the fifty eighth minute by
Rosneck for this second goal of the night to put
the Sounders up three goals. So on, Steve Sequani your
final thoughts.
Speaker 25 (02:42:19):
I think, look at performances Ken fantastic. Seems to have
a real player him there, Albert Russna again a couple
of goals. Did Levega come in and gett an assist?
Roth Frock don't forget that he got a first assist.
I think all around this attacks beginning to click, beginning
to gel, and it bowls well for the challenge of
the head massive three points sets them up very nicely
for the midwek BT Winnie.
Speaker 11 (02:42:38):

Speaker 5 (02:47:14):
It's a big road dub in Texas three to one
over Houston tonight. As Seattle gets all three points, they
get goals from Albert Rusnak two of them and Danny
Mazowski his fifth goal in his many games. He joins
the squad of Oba Hemy Martin's, freddie Montero.
Speaker 10 (02:47:31):
And Roll Ruy.
Speaker 5 (02:47:32):
Diez is the only four players in club history to

The moose continues to be loose.
Speaker 5 (02:47:41):
Let nobody keep the moose contained anytime soon as we
welcome you into the postmatch show Jackson Feltspete viewing Diego
audio A here for the next half hour. However long
we go talking about the Sounders win tonight, and of
course we cannot really kind of get this thing going
without of course recognizing that late in the first half,
(02:48:01):
Houston went down to ten men, a wild situation where
there was a handball initially thought to be in the box,
var stepped in it, took a referee, took a look
at it. No penalty, but yes to dog So, dogso
is denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
Speaker 10 (02:48:18):
That means it's a red card.
Speaker 5 (02:48:19):
Houston went down to ten men and the Sounders killed
him in the second half, with that man down two
goals to nothing in the second half, a three to
one overall win. Let's just get some overall thoughts, boys
on the win in Texas, the second half where we
saw a lot of successes playing a man up.
Speaker 10 (02:48:36):
Pete, I'll start with you.
Speaker 19 (02:48:38):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (02:48:38):
We've got three goals. We've got three goals.
Speaker 7 (02:48:40):
We've got four goals in the one before this, A
couple of games back with Nashville three, the five to
two win over LAFC Stevie and Danny. We're talking about
offseason was one of the things was to try to
get goals in this club.
Speaker 6 (02:48:55):
I think we're finding them. I love the wing play.
Speaker 7 (02:48:57):
Holy cow, ye right, we talked, you've got Rothrock gets
an assist as soon as de la Vega comes on
the field in the forty six minute, he gets an assist.
Kent gets two assists. Really at Georgia, Mannugo was wildly dangerous.
We've got a very dynamic team wide. I love Albert
Rusnek coming from deep to finish off those chances.
Speaker 6 (02:49:20):
Both those chances he came.
Speaker 7 (02:49:22):
We had a runner going early, getting too that near post,
which creates a little space that Albert filled very nicely
and tucked both of his chances away.
Speaker 11 (02:49:29):
So a really good win.
Speaker 7 (02:49:31):
You got to give Houston credit for hanging in there.
That didn't make it easy. Their goal was a really
good goal. But yeah, that little excapade with the red
card and the penalty kick no penalty kick kind of
flipped the game. But as Diego said at halftime, it
was a new game. In the second forty five minutes,
Seattle came out and put a stamp on it right
(02:49:51):
away and kind of we scored in the forty sixth,
then fifty sixth, fifty eighth minute.
Speaker 6 (02:49:56):
That kind of ended it pretty quick.
Speaker 8 (02:49:57):
Yeah, totally.
Speaker 9 (02:49:58):
We're talking out keets the game before the match right
starting with the right foot, and that's how the second
half started right a minute in and we see Albert
Rusnak just closing the play and scoring quickly. I love
to see to your point, Pete scoring goals definitely, but
also see that dynamic team that you can tell the
Sounders are different from the Sounders who started the season,
(02:50:19):
that you have a rockie start. And now we're also
even talking and during the call Danny and Steve, they're
talking about the bench and the powerful bench that we have.
We haven't seen that in a while, to be honest,
in terms of sounders that who can come in and
can change the entire game. We saw Pederally Lavega as
soon as he started and he was hot. And also
Albert Rosnack to your point, love to see a box
(02:50:40):
two box type of player closing those those plays and scoring.
And also I have to say I love to to
see Stephen Fry in that safe You remind me of
the final against Toronto twenty sixteen, twenty sixteen. It's so similar, right,
the exactly but it was just it was like a
flat so love to see how good safe, And that's
(02:51:02):
what you need.
Speaker 6 (02:51:02):
You need your goalie to make.
Speaker 7 (02:51:04):
You need him to do his job and make you know,
click crosses and be clean there and be good with
his feet and all that.
Speaker 6 (02:51:10):
But you need to make one goal savings, say, because
if Houston score.
Speaker 5 (02:51:13):
That, it's a three change suddenly and we're looking at
an entirely different situation. That's exactly right, Pete. But quickly Diego.
You were talking about the slow start, right, and it
was very much a slow start.
Speaker 10 (02:51:25):
But it's funny.
Speaker 5 (02:51:26):
March twenty second, we faced Houston at home and that
game was a zero zero draw. After that we got
a one to one drag in San Jose. We got
a late goal from Rusnak to equalize that. Then a
three nothing lost at San Diego. But since then win
over Dallas, win over Nashville, draw to Colorado that I
still think should have been a win if refereeing was
my taste, win over Saint Louis, win over Houston. I mean,
(02:51:50):
right now we're looking at a stretch right now where
it's in the last eight games only one loss, four wins.
Speaker 10 (02:51:56):
That's a that's a pretty darn good run right now.
Speaker 5 (02:51:59):
Games are still we played to tonight, but for right
now the Sounders are sitting in fourth in the West.
Pretty darn good situation for Seattle, heading into a massive
and difficult two game stretch at LAFC on Wednesday and
out Portland on Saturday. But going back to this game,
you know, I think it's it's so interesting because we
can talk about the great success and it was great goals,
(02:52:21):
and Pete, I love what you said about rus Neck.
You know, the trailing runs and the assists from dalea
Vega and from Ryan Kent. I mean, my goodness, the
wing play on those two guys, as you mentioned. But
it was kind of that the element of going up
a man there in late in the first half. And
I'm texting right now with a reporter down in Houston
and everybody there is just losing their minds. And it's
(02:52:45):
interesting because we've been on the poor side of this
now for you know, a few weeks. Things going against
the Sounders for a few weeks, including as I mentioned
a second ago that Colorado Rapids game on the road
a couple of weeks ago. Well, you know, over the
course of a season, and I would say these things
even out, and you know, decisions even out, luck evens out,
And we saw it here tonight where the Sounders didn't
(02:53:07):
get that win at Colorado, didn't get a call go
their way. Well tonight they get a call to go
their way and they get a win. So I would
just say it's a perfect example of you know, the
refereeing was not optimal again, but boy for the Sounders,
just the Sounders team, it kind of shows that over
the course of a season, diego, it all evens out.
Speaker 9 (02:53:27):
Yeah, I mean it is what it is, right at
the end of the day, if it's about calling, it
happens to both teams. In this case, it happened to
be in favor for the Sounders and good for the
Saunders at the end of the day the second half
they took the game like nothing happened and they really
went for it.
Speaker 8 (02:53:41):
So that really changed to me the perspective.
Speaker 9 (02:53:44):
And it's unfortunately that's you know what sucker is about
at the end of the day, and sometimes you know
it's refing is never going to be perfect. No matter
if you at a var or any technology, it's still
you know, a men's decision at the end of the day,
and it happens. But I think a side of that,
and yeah, Houston reporters or they Houston the team can
(02:54:06):
be upset, the fans right side themselves at the end
of the day, the Sounders that they had a really
professional second half and to get how they should and
also to Houston's great and Pete's mentioned, Houston also had
a few chances, we have to say in the second half,
right they they were so close, that's say from Stephen
Fry and then there are a couple other opportunities that
(02:54:27):
they just hit the ball, you know, over the bar.
Speaker 6 (02:54:30):
But yeah, I like McGlenn.
Speaker 7 (02:54:32):
He's twenty one, crafty, confident, really got a good left foot,
and we'll get better and better. You know, you got
to deal the cards you're dealt I understand Houston be
very upset about that. I liked what Stevie said about
there's gonna be two different speeches, one Ben Olsen in
the Houston locker room and Brian Schweitzer in the Sounders.
Speaker 6 (02:54:51):
And what he said that Brian would.
Speaker 7 (02:54:52):
Say is, let's put it to them, and that's easy
to say, but then to go and actually do it
and get two goals and then be very business like
to be able to sub as much as we did
to get Dave Rosario on the field, to get wingers
on the field.
Speaker 6 (02:55:07):
That was good.
Speaker 7 (02:55:07):
To be able to take off Gomezentroti and put Bell
in that was an important thing as well, because we
may need Bell over these next two games as well.
Speaker 5 (02:55:15):
So I want to go player by player for a
few different guys I want to talk about in our
next segment. Before we do that, I'll quickly mention that
with the two goals, Tonight's Toyota Man of the Match
is Albert Rusnak. Your local Toyota dealers are proud to

Pete, I don't know what else to say. It's the
moose just can't stop scoring well.
Speaker 7 (02:59:57):
When he came to Seattle a couple of years ago,
I asked Brian, how many goals do you think he's
going to get?
Speaker 6 (03:00:02):
And and I thought he would say eight because he
had a pretty good.
Speaker 7 (03:00:06):
Run with LA, had a pretty good run with RSL,
and so I thought he would He's capable of this.
Speaker 6 (03:00:11):
What I loved about the goal today is his run
is to the near post.
Speaker 7 (03:00:17):
He takes Ethan Bartlow to the near post and then
he fades back about two or three yards. Bartlow doesn't
catch it, and so now he's got a wide open
header that's a lot easier to miss than to make.
But it was that run that he made that was terrific.
So he has done a really good job of you know,
that was probably his third touch of the game, by
(03:00:37):
the way, Yeah, when he got that goal. But that's
you know, we had Chance Fry, and Chance Fry scored
a lot of goals, and he could do nothing for
eighty nine minutes and then score a goal. And it's
and I remember coming to locker room one day and
there's the program for the next game and it's Chance.
Someone's holding him up and he's got, you know, one
finger in the air, and Bernie James is saying you
(03:00:59):
did nothing the entire game and yelling at him, and
here you're on the cover of the program and Chances
smiling saying, yeah, that's not my job. My job is
to just score goals. And so Missovski today scored a
great goal. We had a game with UNLV and Seattle.
Speaker 6 (03:01:13):
You, by the way, yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:01:17):
Score I scored.
Speaker 6 (03:01:18):
Yeah, he loved it. He didn't care.
Speaker 7 (03:01:20):
We had a game where Alex Uh rolled on, scored,
smashed a great volley and then Danny Massovski came and
tied it back up Uh to make go one to one,
and then they got a PK.
Speaker 6 (03:01:31):
We got a PK and then we won the game.
Speaker 7 (03:01:33):
But Danny is it just he's a very good goal scorer.
And again I said it earlier. I think Brian Schpetzer
leaving him on the game after getting two good chances
in the first half first half last week and then
getting a third chance and giving him a little more
time to get that goal. I think that gave him
the confidence. So and I was surprised Brian left him one.
(03:01:54):
He may still be wanting to get more out of him,
but he's gonna go play his old team in La.
Speaker 9 (03:02:00):
Yeah, that's gonna be a great match, no I I
I love to see Dank scorting again.
Speaker 11 (03:02:05):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (03:02:06):
I mean it's funny always we were talking before the game. Yeah,
it's it's you know, even Brian Schemetz like I wouldn't
better if he doesn't score. He did and obviously, and
now we have daniels Howsky one if he scores again, right,
And just beating all records with Oba is the only player.
Speaker 5 (03:02:22):
I believe it's Oba the only person to do it
six games. So right now he has the chance to join.
Speaker 7 (03:02:30):
Yeah, I thought, if you're a Sounders, you know, longtime fan,
especially the MLS era, when you say Freddy, go Freddy Montero,
right when you say Oba, You're going, yeah, Obafemi Martins,
you know.
Speaker 10 (03:02:43):
And then yeah, like Jordan and now he was just
known by Danny.
Speaker 6 (03:02:49):
If you just yeah, if you just called him Danny,
say Danny who Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:02:53):
Now but now though now immortality he's getting his way
into that list.
Speaker 8 (03:02:57):
Sure, no, but just to have from Pete what you
were saying.
Speaker 9 (03:03:02):
And it's all about when you're a forward, it's about
that keep up that momentum, right, and that confidence as well,
and I think that's why also he stayed longer in
the pitch. But also to me, it's not easy to
be a forward because you really, you know, you're kind
for scoring goals at the right moment, at the right time.
And that run that you mentioned, it's just perfect right
(03:03:23):
the way. It's really hard to do it on the pitch.
It's easy to see it. He just like goes running
and then the ball just comes straight to him and
you know with the heather, But to do it on
the field and getting that off the ball on Mark
is it's hard to do, right.
Speaker 8 (03:03:40):
It's not easy for any for it isn't.
Speaker 5 (03:03:42):
We're a little tight on time, So I want to
continue to run through a couple other guys I wanted
to talk about. The first is Ryan Kent, because he
was the guy we started the pre match show talking
about getting his first start for the Sounders tonight. Play
sixty six minutes eventually comes off for Georgie and for
Ryan Kent. I mean, we will remember that run in
the fifty eighth minute where he has the assist to
Albert Rusnak, but for so much more in this game,
(03:04:05):
we're considering continuing Pete to see the quality and the
magic that Ryan Kent can create. We're looking at a
guy who starred for Rangers a few years back, and
this is a guy who is clearly coming in at
a different level than a lot of MLS defenders, and
he's showing his different level on so many different plays.
Speaker 7 (03:04:26):
Well, we heard from Stephen Fry when he got there
and from Brian Spetzer that he just is relentless running
app players over and over. His final product is what
I really love, and I think it's elevated the entire
winger core because everybody's picking people out instead of just
getting across in. It's not enough just to get I
got my cross in. I got six crosses in. Did
you pick somebody out? Did you cut it back?
Speaker 6 (03:04:48):
Did you get it to the near post? Did you
clip the one that he clipped up and over the
top over the goalkeeper?
Speaker 7 (03:04:53):
I thought that was an exceptional So his quality is
good and he's making everybody around him better. He's making
Georgy do the exact same thing. Pedro de la Vega
came in with a real spark in the second half,
and I think it's because he sees what other guys
are doing.
Speaker 6 (03:05:08):
He wants to be a part of it.
Speaker 9 (03:05:09):
Yeah, And I think I think for for coach Schmetz,
it's it's the options that you have on the wings,
if you add now Kent and having that experience he's
he has so much experience on the way he runs.
It's really smart running, right. He doesn't run just for
the case of running, but like you see with Minongu
that it's a lot of power. It's still young. But
(03:05:30):
I think it's just always the right decisions and it's
not easy to be a winger, especially to finish those
those crosses, but also sometimes even even score. And I
love to see Kent in this moment and also I
mean it's the best, the best moment for for a
player ahead of a busy schedule in the summer.
Speaker 6 (03:05:47):
He has a repertoire and he's not predictable. That's what's fun.
Speaker 7 (03:05:50):
He can beat you going down the line, he can
beat you coming inside. Uh he has Stanny Uh. Jackson said,
what a nightmare to go from having Ryan Kemp running
at you for forty five minutes for Dorsey and then
Georgie coming in or however long he was on for
sixties sixty five minutes.
Speaker 6 (03:06:08):
So yeah, I like him, I just think, and he's
having fun.
Speaker 2 (03:06:12):
Yeap.
Speaker 6 (03:06:12):
That's a great sign his.
Speaker 11 (03:06:15):
Love of it.
Speaker 5 (03:06:15):
He said it now a few times, including the Danny
earlier this week. His love of football is back, and
you can you can see that love and that joy
playing and boy he is a I mean, right now
they have because Paul Rothrock also was pretty good in
his forty fists God assists, So right now you have Rothrock,
you have Kent, you have Georgie, you have Ferrera who
can play a few different spots.
Speaker 26 (03:06:38):
Caedro.
Speaker 10 (03:06:39):
The list goes on and on and on.
Speaker 5 (03:06:40):
I feel like I'm missing somebody, but still the list
goes on and on and on, and these guys are
all competing for just a couple of spots because you
have Albert in the middle, and Albert in the middle
isn't going anywhere, So we're just talking about those two
winger spots. And that list I just gave was five
deep and could probably be longer if you know various
other things. I mean, it's it's amazing what Brian Spencer
(03:07:01):
has his disposal right now, and he's gonna need it
because there's a busy, busy week coming up Sounders going
to LAFC and then going to Portland one week from tonight.
We'll talk about that coming up next. I will say
the Sounders have one today and you all know what
that means. You get to win tomorrow, Pete, you know why.

Now back to Seattle Sounders Sucker on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 5 (03:11:06):
Sounders Win. Sounders win three to one down in Houston
against the Dynamo tonight. Two goals from your Toyota man
of the match Albert Rusnak and Danny Mazowski scoring his
fifth in five games. Good performance all around from the Sanders,
who now come home for a very very short stretch
before leaving again on Tuesday because they have a busy week. First,
(03:11:28):
it's the LA, It's not the It's LAFC. On Wednesday.
That's gonna be right here. Sports Radio ninety three point
three kjr FM. It's gonna be Wednesday, seven o'clock pre
match show seven thirty kickoff down at BMO Stadium in
Los Angeles, where Danny Jackson and Brad Evans will have
the call from down there. You can also watch the
(03:11:49):
match Apple TV and of course listen in Spanish language
l RA thirteen sixty Buddy and Providence Swedish premat show
starts at seven o'clock right here on Wednesday night, and
then after that they'll come home from LAFC. They'll train
for a day head back out on Friday because they
then face the Portland Timbers at Portland on Saturday evening.
Speaker 10 (03:12:10):
So busy week for Seattle.
Speaker 5 (03:12:12):
And you know, it's interesting kind of to continue the
conversation about the death right now. Winger Brian was able
to make a lot of different substitutes in the second half,
and he's going to have a lot of choices and
options for how to structure these next two big road games.
Speaker 6 (03:12:27):
Well he is.
Speaker 7 (03:12:27):
This is where his man management skill is going to
pay off, and his relationship with his players is going
to pay off.
Speaker 6 (03:12:34):
They all know, they're all competitors. They all know that
they've got to do the job.
Speaker 7 (03:12:38):
I mean, every single one of them knows that it's
about going out and producing, doing the defensive work, doing
all the running that you need to do and then
you've got to serve quality balls.
Speaker 6 (03:12:49):
You've got to get on the end of balls as well,
and you have to do your job.
Speaker 7 (03:12:52):
The nice thing is he could get a rotation going
diego that between this game and the next too, he
could have a rotation where they become like their own
unit of okay, you go in, now you go torture them, right.
Speaker 8 (03:13:06):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 9 (03:13:07):
And I think you're playing against an LAFC that they're
playing tomorrow against the best team in the Western Conference
that's Vancouver. And also LAFC will know that they're going
to be playing an important match at the end of
the month against Globe America right for that spot for
the FIFA Club World Cup. So to me, they're also
(03:13:27):
looking at some rotation as well. So that to me,
it's it's an advantage for Seattle Saunders in that sense.
And also they come off after this game with no
pressure getting all the three points. And you can also
think about, you know, the biggest clash that it's against Timbers, right,
So to me, it's it's a it's a really all
the factors factors in for Saunders are really positive. And
(03:13:49):
also with having a healthy bench as well and having
that rotation of players, but also we need to have
Dani Musovski scoring first, and then you can rotate a
four as well.
Speaker 8 (03:14:00):
But you can as you can if you think about
it too, right.
Speaker 5 (03:14:03):
That's how we're gonna end this show by simply answering
this question, does Danny join OBA six and six?
Speaker 13 (03:14:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (03:14:10):
Why not?
Speaker 15 (03:14:10):
That was not.
Speaker 13 (03:14:14):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (03:14:15):
That was sure?
Speaker 9 (03:14:16):
I would say yeah, yes, because you always a score
against your former team, and that's LAFC, so I took
to make up for you.
Speaker 5 (03:14:24):
I'll say an emphatic hell, yes, he's going to make
it six and six. The moose cannot be stopped, he
cannot be contained. You can only hope and pray that
he doesn't score two on you, because he's gonna get one.
All right, Sounders win tonight, l a FC coming up next,
that's Wednesday, seven o'clock right here, ninety three point three
kJ RFM.
Speaker 10 (03:14:45):
Look forward to that match.
Speaker 5 (03:14:46):
I want to thank everybody with tonight's broadcast p fewing
diego audio here on pre half post. Jordan Thompson and

Jackson and Steve Zachawani and thanks to myself for running
